ho BOY here we go. there's a few, and i can't list them all bc that would take forever, but i also can't just list one story bc that is nigh impossible, so i'll give you my top 5: Slow Show, The Anon Before Christmas (by the incredible @foolishlovers!), The Grindr Logo Doesn't Even Have a 'G' In It, Or Be Nice & (just finished and i am Not Okay) Good Expectations.

i consider everything multi-chaptered and over 50k words as a long fic. some of these aren't that long and one is over 200k, so.. yeah. also, heads up, always read the tags first and also most of these are rated Explicit. :)

again, i've read some many fantastic one-shots that i lost count. but the first thing coming to mind (yes i know i'm biased shh) is the first story of my best friend's ( @beccibarnes) series Not A One-Night Stand: 14 times they canonically fucked ("naons" for short). i remember her pitching the idea for this series to me and it was/is so much fun brainstorming all the ideas with her. i'm honoured that she let me beta-read them all and i can't wait for the future fics to come :') (no pressure tho, becci, i know how busy life was recently <3)

i haven't thought of any crossovers - tbh they're not really my cup of tea - BUT imagined two au's, one more or less as a joke, and one "serious" one. the first, joke-y one is a human au that takes place in the city i live in (hamburg, germany) (don't ask) (idk how i came up with that). this one is mostly in my head, but even tho it's kinda silly, i really like it.

the second, more serious one is, again, a human au: a ballet dancer au. just bc i watched some documentary about ballet and the one male dancer they interviewed looked somewhat like david tennant... you get the gist. i have some idea written down in a dusty google doc, but that's it.

What if AU

I don't remember how I came up with this but here is my idea.

What if Tommy and Steve had stayed friend.

Lemme explain real quick .

So after the fight with Jonathan, Steve and Tommy still fight. But that where things diverge because while Tommy is an asshole he is a loyal asshole. Where Steve goes, he goes. He has known Steve for what 5-10 years? So yeah, he thought about it and he went to Steve to apoligize and actually talk. And Steve told him that he had enough of being an asshole and following his shitty idea so when Steve went to the Byers to apologize guess who went with him to apologize too?

Bingo.

So not only is Steve there for all the Demogorgon and Upside Down bullshit but Tommy's too and that is going to change everything that cames after. Because it's fucked them up good, I mean paralel dimension and monster and all kinda shit, for real ? So when Steve lost his 'King' persona, Tommy followed.

When Steve start being the babysitter for a bunch of middle schooler with a death wish, Tommy does too. Even tho Steve would argue that he was worse than the kids sometimes. And the kids kinda love him kinda hate him.

When he has his fight with Billy, Tommy is there too. They still get heavily knocked around by Billy but at least it not worse than canon.

Steve has a concussion tho.

When Steve start working at Scoop ? You bet that he's going to follow. Poor Robin has to deal with not one but two reformed jock. And she honestly think it could be worse because they're kinda funny to be around and she could have worst coworker.

(Also when she came out to them, she totally didn't expect them go like 'Oh yeah ok' and ' Lol that funny, remember how we used to practice kissing on each other' it's wild)

Oh and Billy doesn't die. Because I have a love/hate relationship with his character and I want him face consequence and live happy. So that.

And then there's the whole vecna shit going on and with the added helped of Tommy -who is not much of a fighter but after three or so years against the Upside Down he gets arounds- Eddie doesn't die. And the whole time he never stop sending knowing look at Robin because he knows.

I have so much idea for this AU it's insane.

What kind of weapon could he have ? I was thinking a bow or something fire related. He's a pyromaniac in his soul I just know it.

And I don't see Carol fitting in it so they probably broke up at some point.

Bonus point for the Hagan Family, who are constantly there because Mrs. Hagan love to have people over so the kids swarm up his place as much as Steve's even when he's not there and she happily let in. ( even when they told her not to)

I docked one point because they didn't have an Oikawa cameo :// which is CRIMINAL after how crazy everyone went for the earphone scene.. HAHA but honestly it was just too short imo.. it was very focused on the background of the characters (which I absolutely love!! we got to see baby KuroKen after all 🥺) but... at moments I was on the edge of my seat and then a (almost oddly timed) flashback would occur which would take away the adrenaline rush. Unlike usually, there was not much tension in the first set .. and then it felt like all of a sudden we were at the final set. There was not much emphasis on the game playing itself - I didn't even realise the game was over 😮 In a season the match would be more paced out, detailed and longer which I kinda wish for.. But i don't regret it going to watch it!!

KLFDHSKLFDSJG i have many old doodles and a few mini fic docs laying around but i dont THINK any of them are on tumblr! it was an au my friend and i used to bounce off each other for a long time on discord back in our early twst days and i used to doodle out sooo many of the scenarios we talked about!! it was very loose and silly for funsies but it was basically an au where heartslabyul boys ran a seaside cafe [i cant remember if school was involved, it was a non nrc au but they were maybe in college/university? if that was part of it, it was never really relevant lol]

i ended up rambling a lot trying to remember what i could about it lol so i put it under a readmore:

it was more or less like

riddle managed the cafe

cater/ace/deuce were mostly up front with customer handling

trey was a head baker/chef/whatever

scarabia was also there i think, i believe jamil worked in the kitchen with trey

kalim... was there. i forget what he did LOL he was maybe like... financial sponsor? did his family technically own the place? i truly cant remember ksdfjdskl but he was there, for some reason, with the cafe. i think it initially started as heartslabyul cafe but then we merged scarabia with them for funsies, like i forgot til just now that they also were part of it. we maybe also played with the idea of naga jamil [and kalim??] but i tbh can't remember if that was this au or something im blending together with it in my memory right now lol. if we did, it didnt end up really staying relevant.

diasomnia we later added as like a rival coffeeshop across the street. i dont think they came up too often but i did draw malleus a lot in the au with them lol

the octavinelle boys were also major components because they were merfolk on the docks by the cafe that recently learned to walk and kept appearing at the cafe and pretended to be human while they made it their life's goal to bother everyone in there all the time forever. friend was also showing me mako mermaids around this time so i think there was a lot of inspiration for this au from it [i cant remember which came first tho LOL]

the savanaclaw guys were kind of there, but they were all secret werewolf type people. jack still turned into a wolf i think, but i believe leona and ruggie were also shape shifty people but just into big cats? i looked back in the discord convos and i see i had assigned ruggie to a Savannah Cat, but idr what leona was lol. everyone was keeping their creature forms a secret but i know the fish boys were at least found out at some point.

pomefiore... i think was also mermaids. or at least epel was a secret guppy and vil was a secret betta fish - floyd nicknames obvi lol. i dont remember if the octavinelle guys knew their identity but i think maybe so? vil was still a famous model and i think rook was just some regular[?][as regular as rook can be lol] guy that hung out with them and knew their secret. epel maybe got a part time job at the cafe or maybe he just hung out there a lot lol. epel also bonded with cat ruggie and i think he and deuce bonded with wolf jack [and thought he was just a Big Dog or something] but they didnt know they were jack and ruggie in person form. maybe. something like that.

i don't think ignihyde was there much if at all, like maybe idia was at the rival coffee shop as a customer sometimes bc they were the quieter goth equivalent to planet heartslabyul chaos lol. but also this au was mostly made back when i think book 5 was still being released / the period before book 6 really got started in jpntwst [eng twst wasnt even announced yet] so we didnt know a whole lot about ignihyde and diasomnia at the time / we were new to twst!

and then of course this was centering around a lot of soap opera style relationship drama bc thats just how it goes when my friend and i do funny little aus. it was mostly just us coming up with scenarios via discord messages and i'd draw out a bunch of them or occasionally write a fic here and there about it. i think my friend drew a few too. it was a fun time and i MISS that au. it was all over the place but that's whats fun about having silly teehee times in the dms LOL we are just playing with our barbies and piling ideas on top of each other forever!!!

Stupid question but which one re-evolved first, Duskull/Dusknoir or Treecko/Grovyle?

First, don't say it's a stupid question, I would love to share ideas for the au and talk more about it, especially 'cause I personally am not very creative on my own, so interaction helps immensely.

Second, gonna be honest here, I actually have no idea. I haven't really put much thought into actual plot lmao. The AU doesn't even belong to me really, I just took jsab's one and came up with little interactions that I found funny and/or cute (in my defense, i was starving for actaeonshipping content xd). I didn't plan an actual timeline/story, and I feel that way anyone can come up with their own interpretation of it, which is fun. (and also less complicated cause the logistics of a swap au would be,,,,,,,,,,,,complicated i think).

However, since you asked, I am going to list some random ideas I had about how it could happen, which sort of mixes with possible story beats ig. Sorry beforehand for the length and change of subject lol.

tldr: imo it depends on what story you wanna come up with and whatever serves it better (i.e. you want it to happen post game, so you follow the game's plot; you want it to happen during the story, so sth weird happens, etc.)

So in PMD:EOS world, pokémon evolve through the Luminous Spring. The player can't evolve until the spring regains its light once the flow of time is fixed. So either we have Grovyle and Dusknoir re-evolving after Dialga is defeated, respecting canon, or we tweak it a bit to make it more interesting.

A way to alter the spring method would be by stealing a headcanon I saw someplace I can't remember (oops): that pokémon, while they usually rely on the Luminous Spring, on very rare occasions can evolve through high levels of stress to protect themselves. I personally like this theory because it explains why there are evolved pokémon in the future, like Grovyle and Dusknoir themselves. They were born in a paralysed world, with no magic skinnydipping, so what's up with that.

When I say this ties in with story beats is because I feel the choice here can make two different versions of the swap, 1. treecko and duskull literally take the hero and partner role to the very end (plus a face off against darkrai ig??), or 2. respect the game's kind-of-chosen one narrative by having partner keep their relic fragment, and making grovyle and dusknoir's main mission to help hero and partner work together again. The problem with this AU is that, if taken seriously, it would need a DEEP reconsideration of the game's events and characters. When does the swap occur? Why does it happen, is Darkrai involved again? If Hero and Partner are still there, does that mean the story of eos happened beforehand but had a bad ending? How do two characters whose actions are immensely influenced by their knowledge of the future act when stripped of their canon motivations? Do they keep behaviours and reflexes (perhaps theyre a bit more ambivalent with violence/more morally gray than hero and partner) or are they a blank slate? Do they feel compelled to evolve because they have a weird feeling that they're in a body strange to them? This is why I only draw the fun two panel interactions!

Leaving all that aside, here are some scenarios that could happen (...because we are just making shit up so anything can happen):

They evolve through struggle, like I presume they had to do in the future. Maybe Treecko evolves sooner, on account of being more reckless and referencing his status as a starter pokémon that evolves at level 16. Once Duskull evolves he prolly carries the team for a while, tho, since Dusclops was supposed to be a fully evolved pokémon in gen 3, and is iconically stronger than Dusknoir when it carries an eviolite. Then again, Grovyle and Dusknoir in game are way stronger than they would be in a mainline game, so perhaps they maintain some muscle memory that helps them in combat (funny how two amnesiac pokémons, who barely remember their own names, are somehow so accostumed to battle, huh, weird). I'd say the best place for an evolution would be the dark future, maybe they escape from prison without facing the sableye -cause a prison cell isnt that big of a deal for someone who knows dig and someone whose actual pokédex entry is "It can go through walls!"- and evolve in a fight against partner?

The evolution doesn't follow game rules at all, instead it's a physical manifestation of their old memories. Hero never remembers their past (sorry grovyle), but this is pure self indulgence so maybe the other two do, or at least are more encouraged to do so or get more information (celebi for grovyle, and dialga for dusknoir).

Following that last point, Celebi and Dialga, two time travelling pokémon, actively interfere to help them get their memories back/get them up to speed with the situation, each to their own interest. Perhaps this involve a separation arc between Treecko and Duskull, à la Gates to Infinity. This would serve to make them less dependent of each other, and mature on their own for a while, differenciating them from hero and partner.

They don't re-evolve, they save the world/help save the world like hero and partner would do.

My favourite option is Dialga helps them somehow with time magic after the battle is over and time is fixed. The sole point of it is getting Dusknoir and Grovyle -with their memories back- to awkardly leave together on a slow stoneship that shoots rainbow, for the sole reason that it would be hilarious.

I can't imagine having a hyperfixation for over 10 years. all my prev hyperfixations only lasted about a year at most?? maybe a year and a half?? so I'm really confused how I've lasted in mcyt this long but I think I figured it out, and it's that my proper 'hyperfixation' actually died out after the first year or so, but I just stayed interested in the content in an intense but not obsessive hyperfixated kind of way. idk I'm not worrying about it too much. 4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

Usually through music, but nowadays I've been drawing inspiration from hefty quotes on tumblr and comics where there's a certain Flavor to it that I really like and wanna try with my own takes.

8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

The middle! That's where the meat of the fic is, and where my general creativity really goes loose and uncontrolled lol. You can bet that my excess writing collects in the middle and just continues to unravel from there. Beginnings tend to be rough, but once I get a start, I manage to keep on chugging.

Endings are where I really struggle. Don't- [grabs your face to look away at my incomplete but published fics] -don't look over there.

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Oooohh so many. Granted, all of them tend to be centered around my and my friends' OCs, but the one I'm nursing right now is:

Clay (from Pokemon Black and White) has to deal with the grief and guilt of his younger cousin going missing (my OC, Rod, of whom you know), and processes it as healthily as he possibly can. Which is to say, he processes it poorly. There's blame tossed around and angry jealousy/envy towards another figure who's lost a family member.

Takes place just before Legends Arceus truly kicks off, but is set in that universe. I've actually been working on this fic for AGES, and it's only recently returned to bother me in the corners of my brain.

26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

GOD. I would have to say... "The Space Between". It was my first true horror fic where I pushed myself to really experiment with my writing. Building the atmosphere, figuring out how to word things just right to drive home the pure terror David was in was a struggle, but a well fought one! I remember putting myself in David's headspace and freaking myself out with horror stuff to get me to really feel and experience what David felt to properly translate the terror into words. I even thought about reading a Stephen King book or two to understand how to write horror! Needless to say, I didn't end up doing that LOL

After all that build up tho came the downhill climb from all that horror tension, which honestly is what got me put into a standstill. Like, how do you write a satisfying conclusion to all that build up? That's still something I need to work on for that fic, and one that's been nagging at me for ages. Hopefully, I'll figure something out. I know how it ends, after all.

55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

...........r Od, my pokémon OC. loL. Writing my own OC has been a pleasure and a joy, just because I can put him into so many situations and throw him into so many AUs with my friends. But also, the biggest appeal of Rod is that he's my own character. I know who he is and why he behaves the way he does better than anyone else - his motives, his drives, his weaknesses. Not only that, but he's a character who can change and grow into something else! He used to be a cis man before my friends and I talked more and more about him until we realized... no, actually, he's a transman. He leaves so much room for experimenting, for discovery and building that it's so much fun to work with him! It's less constraining to work with him than with established characters, and it's also SUCH a breath of fresh air!

My friends DEFINITELY had some part in my choice to write about him. They all just... loved him so much??? Right from conception when he was nothing more than a sock puppet with googly eyes and a fishing pun for a name. They loved him so much that they all breathed the life into him, until I actually had something to work with.

And then they kept playing with him!! Lord did they play with him. So I played dolls with their OCs as well, and this interconnected world with OCs just kinda grew and expanded and became so much fun to explore that I just couldn't not enjoy writing fics about him and their OCs falling in love or being a family or struggling together. A lot of the fics I write of Rod tend to be shared only amongst my friends, but maybe... some day... I'll post something here.

68. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?

Listen to songs in hopes of getting my writing spunk on. That, or daydreaming! Daydreaming scenarios really helps.

There currently aren’t any plans to work the V3 kids into the baby au, I think it would probably just over complicate things, at least time line wise since V3 is sorta wonky in that respect lol

But! That feels like an underwhelming response to the ask so here’s one of the bits of a scene I’ve actually managed to write so far!

“You wanna see her?” Fuyuhiko’s face broke out into a devious grin.

“Huh?” Koko tilted her head.

“What?” Peko’s tone was laced with caution.

“Oh yeah,” he nodded, “it’s very cool and fun, you’ll love it.”

“Where is she?” Koko asked, looking around.

“She’s in all of us, but I got one of the best parts!” He tapped his eye patch.

“Fuyuhiko..” Peko said in warning.

“I’m sure you must have wondered why I wear this,” he said, “well there’s something very special underneath, someone special.”

“Fuyuhiko, that's enough.”

“Special? Can I see?” The young girl asked.

“Oh sure,” Fuyuhiko smirked and raised his hand towards the edge of the patch, “here we go…”

Just as he lifted it up Peko moved and put herself between him and Koko, blocking the little girl's view.

The eye stared, unfocused, at nothing. Its iris had lost its vibrant blue colour, now a much paler hue, and the entire thing swam with milky clouds. Crusty flakes of something had built up around its corners, and the skin around the socket was red.

Peko knew as soon as she saw it that under no circumstances was Koko going to be allowed to lay eyes on that monstrosity.

“Nidai, take Koko back to her room, I’ll join you shortly.”

“Oh uh-“

“Now.” Peko’s tone left no room for debate.

Nekomaru moved forward and took Koko’s hand to lead her from the room.

“Come on Kiddo, let’s uh, go find some of your toys to play with.” He said.

“But why? I wanna see-“ Koko’s protests could be heard as they disappeared down the hall.

The atmosphere in the meeting room was tense. Peko's fierce gaze focused on Fuyuhiko, and he glared back, the one milky eye staring. It wasn’t often the other remnants saw this sort of showdown, and none were quite sure what to do.

“You do not speak to my daughter like that, ever.” Peko’s voice was firm and laced with underlying disgust, “And you keep that thing away from her.”

“I’ll do whatever I damn well please! Last I fucking checked I was the Master and you were the tool!” Fuyuhiko shot back, “If the little brat wants to know about Junko then I’ll be fucking telling her! You don’t get a say, you’re not even her real mother—“

Quick as a flash and to the surprise of everyone present, Peko lashed out and knocked Fuyuhiko to the ground with a blow to the head from the hilt of her sword.

Gasps rang across the room and Fuyuhiko looked up in shock and outrage at Peko towering above him.

“I have not been your tool since that child came into my life. I have been more of a mother to her than either of us ever knew in our own childhoods, and you would do well to remember that, as well as who exactly you’re talking to.”

Peko turned and walked out of the room, leaving Fuyuhiko on the floor sputtering to find words, and the rest of the remnants in awe.

"Was it just the dreaming of my heart?" - ok so for some reason what my brain went to was Beren and Lúthien fic, centering on Beren as he is dead, clinging onto the world, somewhere in Mandos, even though he's feeling the almost irresistible pull on his mortal soul to leave the world, because he can't leave yet because she asked him to wait and she promised to come and say goodbye right?? he can't leave until he sees her one last time, but at the same time he's dead and death does things to you so he's no longer really that certain of how much of what he remembers from life was true

"Dress me all in flowers white, so no mortal eye can see" - okay i know you've asked this before and fuck if i remember what I replied then. But right now I'm thinking immortal Merlin fic, with him through the years, through the changing tides of the mortal kingdoms and societies, slipping through it all almost unnoticed (and possibly going slightly mad with loneliness)

"Forgotten phrases, tender and sweet" - again no idea where this came from, but maybe some kind of Glorestor fic? Like starting when Glorfindel's still newly come to Middle-Earth, and maybe he didn't have too much time to adjust to the whole "after thousands of years I'm alive again" thing, and he definitely hasn't had the time to process the fact that living comes with constant new feelings, new experiences, not just slowly sorting through and making peace with all the feelings and experiences from before you died, so he's still kind of reeling a bit and figuring things out again... and then, because Glorfindel was never one to do anything little by little or halfway, he goes and falls head over heels for Erestor and has to try and figure how love (and specifically communicating that love) works again

"Clinging to affection, we somehow learn to live" - so I don't really go for that very often, but somehow I'm thinking of Maedhros and Maglor with little Elrond and Elros? Maedhros and Maglor are all kind of worn down and burdened with like, everything, and Elrond and Elros are small children just torn from their home and family and friends, and it's all kind of a mess... but there's a bit of affection, a spark of something, some care for the twins, from Maglor, and maybe if they all hold onto it they can figure something out, maybe two kinslayers half-mad from their trauma and the Oath can live for a little rather than stumble forward after a terrible and seemingly unattainable goal, maybe two kids torn from everything they've ever known can learn to live, can grow up to make something of themselves, if they all just care for each other a bit and find a little affection for each other?

"Running and reaching for the light" - somehow (probably because i've already gotten myself into a tolkien mood and there's that whole metaphor about moths and candles in Athrabeth, lol), I'm thinking of an Andreth/Aegnor fic where Andreth doesn't submit so easily to the fact that Aegnor rejects her despite loving her, and maybe Aegnor isn't all that convinced about their love being impossible either, and Andreth goes after him, to stay at his side, reaching for his flame... and I don't know if that saves him, or if it ends in tragedy anyway (maybe she just dies at his side, when Dagor Bragollach comes. Or maybe she outlives him despite everything), but at least they have a while together, at least they get to love each other, whether or not it's enough to change their fates

I will get around to replying to the comment on AO3 tomorrow when I reply to the others I've had a very busy day today though so haven't even had chance to read any comments yet but thank you so much for giving it a 10/10!! I wanna do it as soon as I get chance but I know it's gonna be hard and that I am gonna need a bit more money behind me first but I definitely wanna do it when I can... yeah I've been out of the UK twice- one time I went to France for the weekend when I was doing my A Levels and was like 17 the college I was studying at took some of the art kids and since I was doing a photography A Level I got to go and then a couple of years ago I went to LA for a few weeks which was great but I've never been out of the UK for longer than that!! A nightmare for everyone else but it would be hilarious for us I just know it would haha... I sometimes do I have said some dumb things, I actually used one of my dumber moments as a funny little story in one of my fics- people still laugh at me now for what I said and it's been 10 years... my roommate will not let me live it down!! See surprising people that way is always brilliant like when people just expect you to lose and then you win? That's the best kind of win in my eyes!! I don't cheat at games I am just ridiculously competitive and can't stand losing unless it's something like a video game I am okay with losing those but board games I can't stand losing and I am also a terrible winner my roommate won't play games with me anymore!! I can't say anything about anyone being that kind of a winner because I know I am and one of my sister's is terrible too we literally make a song and dance over winning Oh it was so dangerous and we were so dumb to do it like anything could've happened and we both sit and look back at that and go "man we were dumb" but I also sit and go "oh my god she's gonna be a mum in like 4 months" because we've done some crazy / stupid stuff!! My roommate is without a doubt one of the funniest people I have ever met and she's not afraid to tell it how it is... I'll admit because I have a Northern accent Jamie is like the only character on Bly Manor to not have an accent to me so when I hear people talking about her accent I'm always a little like "what?" Because to me that's just how people talk around here haha I did enjoy your drunken story and honestly we've all been there I have had to be taken care of on more than one occasion for being too drunk like to the point of people having to help me into my pyjamas and everything I've been in some bad ways haha!! She should've definitely told you it was just a rock and not a turtle!! Yeah I've only had one hangover and that was after a night of drinking where I blacked out and don't remember any of the night!! Yeah the night of the drinking is always fun- the hangover isn't though and often makes you wonder if it was worth it haha She's so cool like genuinely just a cool and funny kid and she just asks all the questions about shows she's watched so with me its Bly Manor with her mum and dad it's Stranger Things she asked me about it once but I had to tell her I'd never watched it she didn't seem impressed but yeah I'll talk to her about Bly Manor any day of the week- and you too now honestly I will talk about it to anyone that will listen... I can't not watch it all if I watch it because there's just so much about it that I love even if it makes me cry... episodes 4,6, and 8 are my favourites though and are probably the ones I have watched the most!! Like seriously amazing!! I would love to see some medieval fan art for Damie!! I have been sent a few medieval prompts for Damie and I have started writing some of them but it's taking time to actually get full chapters together but once I have and once I have more time from wrapping up other WIPs I'll make a start on editing and uploading those because medieval stuff is always great!! It's been good thank so far today I went to a little beach town with my mum, 2 of my sisters their partners and two of my nieces (my cool niece was one of them… not that my other niece isn’t cool but you know what I mean) and me, my two brother in laws, and my nieces all played a game of crazy golf while my mum and sisters went to a cafe and had cups of tea... they didn't wanna play with us but we still had fun while we played (I came second which I was very happy with)!! oh yeah tumblr doesn't have something for reporting works that are plagiarized/copyrights, right? unlike ao3, in ao3 it seems that if a fic is stolen, ao3 will respond to it, although i don't know if it works if the story is published in a different sight (here or other websites) then copied to ao3 that ao3 will respond too it or if it's in ao3 first then placed in a different site... But others taking your ideas are horrible especially if you said you'd be thinking of doing it yourself

It's more subtle than this, so I can't call it plagiarism even, but it's still unfair imo. In one case it's a (very beautiful) fanart of a very rare pairing I posted edits and wrote a fic about, that basically no one mentioned before I did, but the artist just posted their thing kinda hinting that they invented that weird pairing lol, even tho most ppl in the fandom mentioned me and my stuff when they later came up with fanworks for them. they didn't have any 'duty' towards me and if they didn't say anything it would have been totally ok for me, but theirbut their claiming they didn't know where their idea came from felt fake and unfair to me.

In another case I wrote a fic and posted it on ffnet and ao3 5years ago (I can't believe it's been so long omg), I posted edits for this rare pairing as well, and I remember that when I looked for fics for them there were very little and not exactly IC. More recently I saw one and it was very good, like, too good, like totally similar to my dynamics and characterization. And in this case too it's not plagiarism either because just like I claim my characterization to be IC, that author can claim that they came up with the same characterization and dynamics because it's the right one. But still, the similarity remains, idk how to explain but I think an author can feel it when there's a 'connection' between their work, be it fic or edit or drawing, and someone else's.

As an author, when I am inspired by a drawing or a fic or whatever, I always mention it in the notes, I think it's fair to do so and I imagine the author might be pleased, as imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say.

So I can think that these authors didn't remember my works and just came up with their own thing by coincidence because it can happen, even though with a rarepair it's a bit weird. That's why, since technically it's not plagiarism, but it's still very unpleasant, I want to make sure that if I post my headcanons here, like I did already, they won't be stolen, or rather, they won't be taken without mentioning me...not even as a credit, just as a fact. Because I have a lot of headcanons and idea I don't have time and focus to write because real life is hard rn, and I don't want someone with an easier life, more time on their hands and a more people pleasing attitude to write smth with my ideas lol

I remember some time ago in another fandom I was, a girl came up with a headcanon. More people, I included, elaborated on it, and we created an interesting AU...the OP though got angry because in that moment she was busy, and she wanted to write her own thing from her own headcanon but we kinda stole her idea and even though we shifted it to something else, she felt an unpleasant pressure upon her idea in case she continued it. Back then I thought she was exaggerated, now I kinda understand. In the same fandom I just finished an AU I hurried writing (my concept of hurrying lol, as I'm slow) just because I saw someone posting a kinda similar aesthetic, and I didn't want my work to appear as the 'second', not that it would be a bad thing, but I had that idea first.
