you knew it never really took him any effort to win you one. in fact, it always seemed to be the first try he got your desired plushie in. he should’ve thought it to be annoying—he thought. after all, you asked him to win you one every time. though, it was hard to think so after seeing you all happy once he offered you the plushie he worked so hard for.

“mmm, yeah,” you murmured your response while sitting patiently on the couch. it had been routine for the two of you to watch a movie together at least once a week. the other heartsteel members knew well to steer clear from the living room on friday nights due ezreal’s non-apologetic clingy and affectionate self.

“‘kay, but you gotta sing the songs with me,” he set his condition, acting as if you didn’t sing with him every time. it didn’t take him long to wrap his arms greedily around you, while also grabbing the remote and setting the movie up.

despite his overwhelmingly clingy nature, you couldn’t help but feel at peace every friday night. it was like routine for you, comforting you each time. the tray of food that consisted of popcorn and fruits—which, he knew you didn’t eat, but still added anyways for good pictures—to the cuddle positions or the blankets that would surround you two. each time, it reminded you of why exactly you loved the singer, despite his clingy nature.

Matching things is what you experience the most with him. Almost everything in your shared apartment or room is the matching half to his. He never gives up dressing up on Halloween either especially if he can match with you. He definitely chooses the food costumes cause he thinks it’s funny 😭. It’s cute though so it can pass. He takes a whole lot of pictures of you both but you swear he’s never had that “storage is full” notification pop up on his phone. (the 68k photos on his phone 🙏🏻)

Chigiri Hyoma

Playing with his hair or yours is what you experience with him. You’re probably one of the few people he let’s touch his hair, but it does make you feel special. He does ask that you be careful if you’re playing with his hair and he does the same if he’s playing with your hair too. Loves doing your hair if he has the time and doesn’t mind if you do his.

Itoshi Sae

Remembering things about you is what you experience with him. He probably doesn’t care to remember anything but what he deems important about his friends, acquaintances, etc. But to you he remembers the small things even if you don’t remember even saying those yourself. You’ve definitely been surprised with a gift from him with something you like even though u hardly remember mentioning it to him.

Itoshi Rin

Doing yoga together is what you experience with him. Honestly even if you aren’t a yoga person he still tells you that you’re free to join him. You probably pushed him while he was in position. Now he incorporates couples yoga into his routine if he knows that you’re gonna participate. Sometimes if you look over to him you can catch him gazing at you with a soft smile especially if he’s helping you with a position or if you’re taking a break. He’s also cautious of you falling, which makes him kinda strict.

Kunigami Rensuke

Going to the gym together is what you experience with him. Even if you don’t like going to the gym it makes you happy that you get to spend time with him. He offers to help you with reps or your routines. Definitely cautious when you’re there with him cause he doesn’t want you getting hurt, but he’s not strict. Ong like your N1 supporter in and out of the gym.

Mikage Reo

Zipping up your dress/putting your jewelry on for you is what you experience with him. You’ve definitely got lots of gifts from him, especially jewelry/clothes. But the thing is he really likes putting them on you more so you’re jewelry. There’s something so romantic about it that makes him like it. He offers to do it for you if he catches you picking the item of you’re choice. Definitely has gotten you something with his initials on it though.

Nagi Seishiro

Sleeping on each other is what you experience with him. Gosh having a 190cm man on top of you is definitely suffocating idk about you 😭. Honestly one of the most stubborn guys out there and won’t let you get up so he will literally just flop on top of you and fall asleep. But he also likes when you’re sleeping on top of him, you’re like a weighted blanket to him. It’s cute but after a while it gets kinda uncomfortable. The only time when you’re able to get up is probably if he moves in his sleep (he definitely does!)

Oliver Aiku

Couples massage is what you experience with him. I feel like he likes massages especially if it’s from you. He’s always hoping that you’ll let him spend a couple more just for the sauna so he can relax with you there. The sauna is such a relaxing place where he doesn’t have to worry about nothing except you. Really nothing else he’d rather do than that besides soccer. You guys r defo regulars at the place and it’s most definitely the best rated place.

Shidou Ryusei

Pillow fights is what you experience with him. It’s actually really fun but sometimes he takes it a bit too far and accidentally injures you. He does apologize and bandage you up though. He hits so hard tho it hurts so it eventually becomes a competition on who can hit the other the hardest with the pillow. You’ve definitely got the air knocked out of you a few times. Let’s you win sometimes though.

Hiori Yo

Him walking you home is what you experience with him. After school, work, etc he walks you home. He says even though walking is slower than a car he gets to spend more time with you. And he even gets you a drink on the way every time. Really loves when there’s a sunset and he’s walking you home because it sets the whole thing. The talks between you two during that are nice, you’re both mostly focused on each other, and how the presence of the other is relaxing.

Chapter 1: the bittersweet taste of success and defeat

(A/N: Spoilers ahead. This was inspired by the latest chapter of the manga which is chapter 240 so read it at your own risk. Some dialogues and scenes are excerpts from the latest chapter hence the spoiler tags. Lastly, I don’t own anything from this franchise except for this fic of mine. Respective ownership belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura for this wonderful manga.)

“Now the top 23. Remember, the top 23 players will be selected to represent Japan in the U-20 World Cup.” The static voice of the announcer resonated across the field and the large screen glowed back to life with the updated list of the rankings of the players and their latest offers.

“Ah... I’m in...” Tokimitsu looked relieved and happy at the same time as he read his name being on the 23rd spot.

“Oh. Mini up, up.” Kurona commented with his usual expression on his face.

Raichi pumped his fists into midair as a wild grin appeared on his face. “18 mil baby!”

His aquamarine irises scanned over the list on the screen curiously until he saw his name on the 18th spot.

“20 mil, huh? Guess that’s good for now.” Hiori remarked to himself.

He wasn’t disappointed with his latest ranking as objectively speaking it was his first match and he only got subbed in during the latter part of the game.

Nevertheless, he wasn’t going to idly sit by the sidelines and accept it passively.

He was done with that phase in his life.

Now that he got a taste of what it felt like to play and win in his own terms courtesy of his awakened ego, he needed to make sure that he will be chosen again for the next line up and possibly one of the players for the U-20 World Cup in the future as well.

If he wanted to pursue his own goal of producing the best striker in the world, then he needed to play his own brand of soccer independently from the expectations of other people such as his parents.

However, his eyes strayed towards Isagi’s direction who seemed to be watching the screen intently as the announcer moved onto the announcement of the top 10 players and their latest offers.

While it was true that he wouldn’t be playing tag-team any longer for the blue-eyed striker himself and fulfill the other’s selfish demands in the future matches, he also found out that he wouldn’t mind playing alongside with Isagi himself on his own terms.

Before he could even stop himself, his own heart did a weird cartwheel inside his chest at the mere thought of being partner of Isagi again on the field and recreating that goal again that sent an electrifying sensation on his veins and a morbid satisfaction of watching the opponents’ crestfallen faces as they shattered their hopes and dreams with that final, conclusive goal itself.

He took a deep breath and tried to clear his head of these unwarranted thoughts within himself.

He doesn’t need to get excited and revolve his thoughts around Isagi this soon lest he might end up like Ness who was skittering like a damn, lost puppy excitedly over his master who wouldn’t even look his way and treat him with some respect.

He didn’t need to bend himself any longer and accommodate the others’ selfish demands and expectations around him.

Nonetheless, he couldn’t stop the way his brows spoke in volumes or how his lips twitched slightly upwards at seeing the vibrant yet dissatisfied look on Isagi’s face as the name of Itoshi Rin flashed across the screen and hit them with the reality that he was the top 1 in the ranking and offer of the club.

‘Huh. I wonder what you’re really made of Isagi-kun?’ His mind wandered idly on the ace player himself that continued to occupy his thoughts that day.

“C’mon Kunigami. Stop tagging along with me.” Chigiri commented with a self-satisfied smirk on his face as he watched the screen display the current top 10 players after the match. An air of satisfaction swirled around him as he found out that his value increased, and his rank is now tied up with Kunigami himself.

His training with the team finally paid off and he was seeing the fruit of his labors when he scored another goal again for their team even if he was up against Rin and the PxG themselves.

“Why is our value lower than last time?”

He heard Reo’s surprised voice and Chigiri snapped his attention towards him who wore a look of incredulity and indignation.

“Well, it can’t be helped, we were trash today.” Nagi replied in a monotone voice. It was difficult to decipher the lazy genius’ emotions sometimes but since Chigiri has been his teammate for quite some time now, he could tell from the lackluster look on his gray eyes on how he wasn’t surprised yet still disappointed with the outcome itself.

“We need goals to increase our value. Switch gears, Nagi. We're gonna get wild in the next game.” Reo replied grimly.

“Yeah.” Was all Nagi could say as his eyes remained fixed on the latest tally of their offers.

Chigiri turned away with a small sigh leaving his lips as he started to walk outside the field.

There was no room for celebration tonight for their team.

Two losses in a row?

 Chigiri didn’t want to delude himself on the small victory that he made for the team. Even if he was the sole scorer for their team today, it didn’t change the fact that they got smoked by Rin and PxG made them taste their own defeat for the second time.

It didn’t bode well with him.

The only way to rise again from the ashes was for them to win the next match and there’s no other acceptable answer for that.

Nevertheless, the image of Reo’s face earlier continued to flit across his mind like a broken record inside his head.

That look was reminiscent of his surprise and defeat when they lost against Isagi’s team during the second selection of the program back then.

He had seen Reo’s improvements, and his amazing skill of Chameleon displayed more than once during their matches.

But a niggling feeling continued to scratch at the back of his head.

For a charming and confident guy like Reo, he was surprisingly insecure and had a fragile ego that he’d seen in the past. He possessed a defeatist attitude when the plan didn’t go his way especially when Nagi wasn’t around by his side to play.

However, Chigiri had believed that the lavender-haired boy had overcome this already because he’d seen his improvements so far.

But was it enough?

He should be happy that Reo and Nagi were somewhat... in good terms now... and they’re playing with each other in the same team.

But was it even effective?

Even their duo wasn’t enough to stop a monster like Rin on the field itself.

And he was worried...

He was worried about Reo overthinking things again and couldn’t move past it.

‘Fuck. Stop thinking like that damn it.’ Chigiri berated himself harshly as he slammed the door of his locker with a bit of force and went inside the shower area.

For now, he needed to clear his head and take a rest even though a small part of himself continued to dance around the thought of Reo earlier.

As for Bachira, I was friends with him in college and I minor in art and knew his mom through my classes, and I was hanging out with her making her cocktails while we talked about sexism in general. It was honestly a very freeing and deep conversation about being taken seriously and I remember telling her how much I admired (3/4)

her as a single mother and amazing artist, and she talked about raising Bachira and her own monster. We got mad wasted and sappy in her studio, while throwing darts at paint balloons to make a piece (like in the Princess Diaries!!). Woke up the next morning, having slept on her studio floor smh, with the worst hangover and her sunshine ass in the kitchen making pancakes, and it ended with her catching me staring at Meguru dreamily, as he excitedly whispered to me what he and his boys did (4/5)

yesterday (though when he first woke up, he had the GALL to chastise his mother and I for drinking). I literally nearly toppled from my bar stool to gaze after him as he went upstairs to change for the day (we were going to feed the Nara deer with Isagi, Nagi, and Reo) and his mom came over to me, smiling very sweetly, took my hands in hers, told me to close my eyes, and when I opened them, his mom had put a box of condoms on my hands and I freaked out so hard I woke up. You had always had a motherly personality - fussing and checking up with your loved ones, always offering to help others and give advice. When you met Nagito at Hope’s Peak Academy and heard how much he despised himself, your instincts immediately kicked in. You worried about how quick he was to praise others but quicker to insult himself. Even before the two of you began dating, you constantly reminded him about how great he was and shot down any attempts of self deprecation. When you two were finally official, the affection just tripled. Good morning and night texts, hugs, kisses, you name it! You even had to start making homemade lunches for the boy because he had a bad habit of skipping meals.

Normally the two of you would take the bus and walk to school together, but today was different. He wasn’t there at the bus stop this morning and when you texted him, he didn’t respond. So now you were panicking at school, worried that something happened to your boyfriend. You had even made his favorite food today… 

Eventually class began, but you could hardly focus. How could you, you had no idea where your lover was?! You grinned as you made your way to your next class, eagerly waiting for lunch to come. When the bell rang, you quickly grabbed your stuff and made a mad dash for the rooftop. (The mutual choice of place to spend your lunch period, sometimes people would give you weird looks for spending time with Nagito, which made him apologize and try to leave, much to your dismay.) You began to wait, and wait, but there was no sign of your partner. You frowned again and sent a quick text to him. Maybe if you roamed the school you could find him? You skipped around the halls, glancing at your phone every now and then for any new texts. Soon you were in front of the principal’s office when you heard a lecturing voice inside.

“Komaeda, I can’t even count the number of times you’ve come in late because of some unthinkable scenario…”

“Haha… it's just my luck has been acting up lately sir.”

You frowned for probably the hundredth time that day, it felt impolite to eavesdrop but your heart hurt for your boyfriend. You wished that people would take the time to understand him, he can’t control his luck! You huffed as you walked away, a new mission developing in your head - Operation Give Nagito a Bunch of Love After School.

After school, you patiently stood at the entrance of the academy when you finally saw your boyfriend exit. Your heart began pounding as you bounced excitedly, your boyfriend on the other hand, seemed pleased to see you as well but also tired.

“Nagito, baby!” You called as you rushed over to him and immediately cradled him into your chest, not caring who saw or heard. He was very tall, so would normally be a bit hard, but he was used to your affectionate nature. You began petting his hair and placing soft kisses on his head.

“Ah, to be held by you after today… the bad luck was worth it,” he melted into your embrace.

“Love, let’s go home, ok? Then you can tell me all about your day.” With a bit of encouragement from you, Nagito reluctantly released you from his grasp. You grabbed his cold hand and squeezed it as to not make him feel lonely, and the two of you ventured to the bus stop. On the bus, you didn’t stop giving him love, he deserved it 24/7! You let him place his head on your shoulder and cuddle your side. You spoke in a soothing voice as you told him about your day, which was quite uneventful without Nagito.

As soon as the two of you reached your house, you forced him onto the couch with some warm blankets and began drying his hair. For some reason it was wet, something must have splashed him this morning you assumed. Nagito naturally leaned his head back, your fingers felt so good in his hair.

“Darling, do you want to talk about today?”

Nagito’s content expression twitched as he sighed. “It’s nothing too important… just woke up late, missed the bus and got splashed by some water when it drove past…” he continued to list off the things that happened to him with his usual casual voice, as if it was no big deal. “But I’m sure I made you wait, morning time and lunch time I left you by yourself. You should stop paying attention to trash like me and find some more reliable company-”

“Nagito, you’re not trash, ok?” You paused drying his hair and came around to sit next to him. “You’re not just anyone to me - you’re my boyfriend. I will wait for you however long it takes, I will care and love you for the rest of my life. You are my hope, Nagito.”

Nagito looked shocked. “I’m… your hope?”

“Of course you are! You always call me your hope, why wouldn’t you be mine?” you teased, peppering his face with kisses.

“I-I… thank you.”

“Come here, baby. Lie down.” You braced your back on the edge of the couch and motioned to Nagito to lay down on you. Nagito eagerly took the opportunity, burying his face in your soft chest. His cold skin was a nice contrast to your warmth. You eased him out of his school jacket so both of you would have as much skin to skin contact as possible. Your legs intertwined with his, as you began to place kisses from his jawline to his neck, making him whine in pleasure.

“I’m the one whose supposed to taking care of you-”

“Shh… it’s my job too. You’ve had a long day… just relax in my arms and forget about it, my love.”

He didn’t put up much of a protest as he continued to nuzzle into your chest. “My hope, thank you for loving someone li-,” he paused and changed his line of thought, “for loving me. I… I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you. I love you so much-”

“I’m not going away, Nagi… I’m staying right by your side forever, no matter what happens. Now… take a nap, babe. I’ll be right here when you wake up…”

Monaca was having a bad day, she didn't have the chance to murder any Adults, and the kids killed hundreds, not leaving her one Adult, the kids honestly thought they were helping her since she's in a wheelchair. What's worse though is that her own wheelchair broke, making her burst out tears

Luckily her servant who she calls 'big sis F/O' saw what happened, they called Servant while Monaca was bursting out tears in her room.

" pppssstt, Servant! Monaca's wheelchair broke, can you fix it for me? I'll comfort Monaca. " Of course, Nagi- Servant nods " Aha, of course. I could do that..! " Nagito walks away to the direction the wheelchair was put in, as you climed on the ladder.. you walked to the door, bracing Monaca's hurtful words..

Though instead, you saw her sleeping, guess she slept. You closed the door, walking back to your and Servant's room.

" Servant, are you aware of when are you gonna fix it? " He nods " I think so, it may take 2-3 days fixing it. Though you shouldn't trust me and my scummy words F/O.. " Nagito sighed, laughing a bit " Servant.. Nevermind, will get out of here together, and fix your issues. It's clear that you need some deep help. " You looked at him, his face flushed with red, looking back at you, he let out a giggle " Ah F/O-san, your too nice.. " You smiled, you hugged him. And he hugged back.. eventually you two passed out.

You woke up by some 'awwwwws' you groggily moved up carefully removing Servants hands off of you. Then you realized who the people 'awwwed' your head snapped at the kids direction, quickly getting up making Servant wake up as well " K-Kids you don't understand, we just fell asleep- uh- um- that's all! I promise.. " Thats when Kotoko boo'ed " Maaannn, and here i thought that that you two had fun! That's no adorbs! " Nagito got up, blushing for a bit " H-hey, thats enough for now, we'll have to do our work later.. " " Awwwhhh man, nnow i thooughht this wiill make you two tell eeachootherrrrs feeeelinggss.. " Jataro gloomly said " Whatever.. let's just go. These two will tell eachothers feeling sooner or later. " Nagisa shot back, Masaru was quiet, a bit too quiet. He and the kids followed Nagisa.

You can portray a sense of suspense and intrigue in a natural way that many other writers - published ones included - struggle with. You delve into the darkness without it feeling forced, and you have an amazing grasp on the psyches of the characters you write for (which is a quality I adore in writing and strive toward myself).

uh i used to see a lot of it around when the anime first aired but i never caught the name or watched any of it but it seemed interesting enough. by the time i felt like watching i couldn’t remember anything and whenever i’d search ‘boy idol anime’ it would only really bring up i7, which.... wasn’t what i was actually looking for.

Then shining live happened and a friend at school introduced me to it. i got hooked since they seemed familiar since it was “that anime i remember seeing around” and was ‘love live but boys’. Now i lov so so much ;_;

a mistake meeting

- RIN FELT SO BAD LEAVING YOU!!

- he literally thought of you everyday (god he feels so lukewarm right now)

- remember the phone privileges they could get during the first selection? probably uses it to text you because missed you so much

- undoubtedly tries to show off during the u-20 match to impress you (and sae)

- the day he goes to visit you happened to be the same day the blue lock boys hung out together

- the group catches him at the flower shop after their free dinner with the ex u-20 members

- reo probably has to hold bachira back from running up to greet rin

- ARYU KNOWS FLOWER LANGUAGE AND DECODED THE BOUQUET RIN GOT

- EVERYONE GASPED AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THEY HEARD THE MEANING OF THE BOUQUET

- it was roses and orchids to mean “i miss you” but in a romantic way ;)

- they all probably stood silent for a good minute and just watched rin in disbelief

- they stood that way until rin started to leave the flower shop

- “let’s go follow him!” was bachira’s wise idea

- and so they did.

- barou left. he didn’t want to be apart of stupid acts.

- chigiri’s and yukimiya’s curiosity were the only reasons why they stayed. no one knows why nagi stayed tbh he just continued following everyone though

- tokimitsu was dragged by bachira.

- the rest were actually curious and didn’t mind following him

- imagine this huge group trying to tail a guy while trying to be discreet about it

- they got a lot of weird looks.

- karasu kept smacking the back of bachira’s head to get him to shut up

- the only reason they didn’t get caught is because they were pretty far away from rin.

- anyways the hospital wasn’t far from the flower shop

- it’s a WONDER how they got past the person who checks people in

- probably said they were with “that guy” (they pointed at rin while he walked away to the room you were in)

- another wonder is how rin still hasn’t noticed them

- yk how u get stickers showing you got approved to go further into the hospital?

-imagine how long this whole thing took 💀💀 all of them just dumbly standing in front of the sticker machine like 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️

- if we’re being real and you could only have a certain amount of visitors (idk what the actual amount is help) they would send bachira and tokimitsu (they figured rin would go easy on them)

- we’re going to continue the unrealistic whole group visiting scenario though because it’s funnier.

- rin, still oblivious to this all, made his way into your room

- rin says he never cries but he was about to when he saw your face light up in excitement (im about to cry too.)

- IMMEDIATELY engulfs you in a strong hug, his head burying itself in your neck as he inhaled your scent

- HE MISSED YOU SO SO SO MUCH

- if you’re crying he will wipe your tears with the softest look on his face

- awkwardly hands you the bouquet

- also awkward with his first words with you

- probably stares at you with the soft look while a, “hi,” leaves him

- you guys start your conversation while the rest of the blue lock boys finally find the room rin went to

- CHIGIRI SLAMMED A HAND OVER BACHIRA’S MOUTH TO SILENCE HIS GASP LMAO

- meanwhile otoya is thinking of how to rizz you up 💀

- they watched in silence for a good minute, bachira taking pictures to send to isagi later

- they wouldn’t even have gotten caught if it weren’t for the nurse who loudly asked if they needed something

- at that both you and rin look back at the door and just see all of them dumbly looking at the nurse

- they’re so stupid help me

- rin immediately goes red STEAM COMING OUT OF HIS EARS

- please put a hand on his arm. it’ll remind him not to go ballistic

- the nurse awkwardly walks off, noticing rin’s now scary demeanor

- cue the awkward laugh with them all scratching the back of their head from the group

- except for bachira. “hi, rin!” he excitedly waved at him then at you. wave back.

- “hey, you were the guys who played with rin in that match!”

- your excited tone was the only reason rin hadn’t started yelling yet.

- bachira took that as an invitation to just walk in and start talking with you

- he probably sits himself in between you and rin on the bed 💀

- otoya absolutely flirts with you during this time as well.

- THEY ALL LOVED YOU THOUGH!!

- just pray rin didn’t kill them all after they left…

What are your opinions on the antagonists of the games? (So Kokichi, Nagito, and Byakuya!)

oooooo! this is gonna be fun oh jeez-

Bya - lmao rich asshole but yknow we love him. Definitely the most helpfull of the 3, but ofc that's with low standards. I think he did a good job at spicing up the trials while also not getting in the way too much except for the infamous 2nd trial where he really shined his antagonist, uh, shinyness. I also found his hautiness funny and I'm glad he survived. He has really long legs.

Nagitoe - akkajajanans so he's a thing. An actual creature. Fuckin' creatin. I honestly hated him so much during the game- like everytime he showed up I immediately got pissed off like "nO NaG tOE go awweeeyyyyyy" nasty, honestly, just nasty. but uhhhhh he's grown on me I admit. In the game he's a bit of an issue but in the fandom I find him prettu funny- Actually in the game I laughed at some of his dumbass lines but shhhhhhh. I think he's more likable in the fandom personally and as long as I don't rewatch sdr2 anytime soon I might end up liking him a lot 👀 who knows 👀 his relationship with Hajime is pretty hilarious too, but also kinda wholesome.

Kokichi - hA. This little (very little) boy istg. He's my favorite of the antogonist by far. He just has such interesting and layered writing that's intriguing and mysterious but can also be so funny. I swear almost every time he spoke I was tearing up from laughter like how do you even write this stuff??? But it's not just cuz he's funny and short and I like short people cuz u can step on them if they get too annoying, it's also cuz I feel like after almost a full game with him there's still so much we don't know??? Like he went splat so now we're never gonna get te opportunity to learn more about him, canoniclly speaking (maybe, we'll see👀) and it can be hard to tell what's a lie and what's true with him. I found trial 4 one of the most interesting trials because before you started crying about Gonta you got a peak at more of the real Kokichi, mostly when we saw how he reacted to no one believing his truth and everyone believing Shuichi's lie (i think, i dont really remember, i havent mustered the courage to rewatch v3 yet) And and and just any glimpse at the real Kokichi, when Kaito punched him and no one went to check if he was okay, and when Shuichi told him he'd always be alone. That stuff just interests me so muchhhhh. And he's short. I mentioned that already.

Nanase Riku: He was acting like everything was normal, but I bet it's taking a toll on him more than anyone else.... Izumi Mitsuki: Some people know what's going on. There's a couple of people commenting on how something's off about this whole ordeal online. Izumi Mitsuki: But why... Why are all these TV stations dragging TRIGGER when they're the ones who've seen them up close and in person? Rokuya Nagi: What an awful turn of events. Those who are truly interested in TRIGGER have been proactively reading up on them on their own. Rokuya Nagi: However, those who only know TRIGGER in passing will absorb whatever is given to them by the news. They'll end up with a biased understanding of TRIGGER. Izumi Iori: Companies cast for their shows based off of the public's perception of a group. Izumi Iori: At this rate, if TRIGGER's brand continues to be perceived negatively, it will also affect their state of being in this industry. Izumi Iori: Has President Yaotome taken that into consideration?

Yaotome Sousuke: ...Dammit! Every single goddamn one! They used to beg for TRIGGER to be on their shows! Yaotome Sousuke: ...Mister Shimooka's music show is right around the corner, and I know he sees TRIGGER in a positive light. If we can turn the tides with this.... Yaotome Sousuke: I'm counting on you, Gaku.... TRIGGER....

Mister Shimooka: And now for our next guest, TRIGGER! Kujou Ten: Thank you for having us. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: We look forward to performing here today. Mister Shimooka: So, I heard you guys are unveiling your new single next week at the Tokyo International Festival of Music and Arts in Zero Arena. That's amazing! Yaotome Gaku: Thank you. A wide variety of musical genres will be presented at the festival, so we'd really like to focus our energies and get even better for this event. Mister Shimooka: What a manly answer! That's Yaotome-kun, for ya! I bet you're a real hit with the ladies. Must've gotten it from your father, huh? Yaotome Gaku: I-- ....... Nanase Riku: A nervous energy pulsed through the studio. Nanase Riku: Both Ten-nii and Tsunashi-san were frozen in place. Nanase Riku: Mister Shimooka-san had been so kind and welcoming to us all, but his insinuating words brought the scandal to the forefront. Nanase Riku: After all, Mister Shimooka-san was part of Tsukumo Productions.

Yaotome Sousuke: ....... This is outrageous.... Yaotome Sousuke: Everyone has cut Yaotome Productions and TRIGGER off, and now he has too.... Does this mean they've all sided with Tsukumo? Yaotome Sousuke: Cowards! The times have changed! Why can't they understand that!? The age of Tsukumo and Hoshikage was over long ago! Yaotome Sousuke: ....... It was supposed to be over....

Yaotome Gaku: I, uh.... Izumi Mitsuki: I dunno about Yaotome, but I take after my grandma! Izumi Mitsuki: We look so similar, that whenever I look at old photos I'm like, "Woah! That's me!" I hate to say this myself, but she was gorgeous!

Man: Damn, it was just getting good.... That dude is trying way too hard to stand out. Woman: Hmm? Man: That Izumi Mitsuki guy from IDOLiSH7 butted in right when Mister Shimooka was asking Yaotome a good question. Woman: Oh, yeah. Izumi Mitsuki just loves to talk.

TRIGGER Fan: Oh.... He deflected the question for him.... TRIGGER Fan: It's okay now, Gaku-san.... Thank you so much, Mitsuki-kun....

Mister Shimooka: ...Ahaha! Really, now! I know you're an adult, but you're so cute, Mitsuki-kun! What do ya think, Yaotome-kun? Yaotome Gaku: He's super cute. But he's kind of dad inside, y'know? Izumi Mitsuki: Hey, what do you mean by that! I've bet you've got some dad in ya too! Kujou Ten: I definitely see it. Yaotome Gaku: Haha, shut up! Mister Shimooka: Hahaha! Both of you are grown men, so I guess that's to be expected! I'm already an old man, so that explains why we get along! Nanase Riku: The atmosphere of the studio changed after Mitsuki interrupted the conversation. Nanase Riku: Mister Shimooka-san boomed with laughter, more so than usual. Perhaps in relief, perhaps in apology. Nanase Riku: The whole time, Yaotome-san's fist was clenched tightly where it rested upon his leg. Mister Shimooka: Get ready, TRIGGER! Kujou Ten: Yes, sir. Nanase Riku: Everyone's eyes followed their backs as the three of them made their way to the stage. Nanase Riku: Even under the cold gaze of the audience, Ten-nii, Yaotome-san, and Tsunashi-san turned to face them. Nanase Riku: The stage lights were so bright, I couldn't see what their expressions were. Nanase Riku: But the voices that rang through the venue belonged to TRIGGER-- as proud and powerful as we remembered. Nanase Riku: They were trying to pierce through and reach the future.

Mister Shimooka: And that was TRIGGER's "Last Dimension!" Now, up next we have.... Momo: Shimooka-chan.... Yuki: ...Shimooka-san has a family and many trainees under his care. TRIGGER understands that too.... Momo: Back when it was Yamato, they were up against Hoshikage.... That, and it was hard for anyone to bash them since they'd be going against a world-famous actor. Momo: But this time, it's Tsukumo Productions versus Yaotome Productions, which is below Tsukumo in power. Momo: On top of that, there was that whole ordeal where Yaotome Productions "stole" a famous singer from Tsukumo, despite owing a lot to them. Momo: Putting aside what's true or not, it's easy to fall victim to Ryou's psychological ploys. You can't help but think, "There's nothing else I can do." Yuki: I know there's people out there who are strongly against his ways. There has to be. Momo: They're definitely there. I'm in contact with all of them, and-- Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Great work today, guys.... Momo: Thank you! ...What's wrong? Re:vale's TV Show Producer: I might be jumping the gun a bit, but…. I just wanted to make my rounds and say goodbye to everyone. They’re transferring me to Kyushu, so I won’t be on the show's production staff anymore. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: I really loved working on this show, and I wish I could've stayed on for just a bit longer.... Once things calm down, you should call me over for baseball again sometime, Momo-chan. Momo: ....... Yuki: I'll talk to them about it. It's not right without you on the team. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Those words are more than enough for me. Please do your best and give everyone a great time from here on out as well. Momo: Why is this happening.... I told you to trash talk me to those people, didn’t I…? Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Ahaha, there's no way I could do that. I could never talk badly about you, Momo-chan. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: TRIGGER hasn't done anything wrong either. No other talents in this industry take their jobs as seriously as those three. They passionately, earnestly, and truly love their fans and their work. Tsukumo Ryou: TRIGGER pulled out of SoundShip at the last minute. The first time is fine-- unexpected circumstances happen all the time. However, once happens a second time, they'll be seen as incompetent and impertinent. Tsukumo Ryou: There’s a shining chance for TRIGGER to repair their image-- neither Re:vale nor IDOLiSH7 will be appearing at the Tokyo International Festival of Music and Arts, a high-brow and formal affair. (1) Tsukumo Ryou: TRIGGER lose their place at that event-- I’ll make sure of it. Natsume Minami: And how will you accomplish this? I'm certain they are also aware that this is a chance for them to recover from their current predicament. Tsukumo Ryou: You see, before I became the president of an entertainment agency, I used to dabble in trading alongside some rather dangerous fellows. I can use those connections.... Tsukumo Ryou: ...To abduct TRIGGER. Inumaru Touma: ...Hey. I ain't getting involved in anything criminal. Tsukumo Ryou: Ahaha! Oh, we won't be involved at all. TRIGGER are very famous stars-- it'll be the work of a couple stalkers, so to speak. Isumi Haruka: Hmph. Isumi Haruka: ...I don't care. If that's what it'll take to see that brat and his father in tears, then go ahead. Isumi Haruka: I want him to reject everything he's ever worked for and despair.

(1) Ryou uses 硬派 to describe the tokyo m&a festival; I've mostly seen this word used in terms of like political parties, where you have hard-liners (frm the definition of the word), or very ppl very staunch in their belief of ___. In terms of music shows, I'd extrapolate this to mean an event that's very formal and rooted in tradition/rules, which would be kind of like the Grammy's wrt an american equivalent, since awards aren't thrown around willy nilly and it's a Big Deal to get invited there, etcetc. Like there's a whole formal process involved. That kind of 'hardcore'!

Not necessarily related to the ask meme but what do you like abt eiichi? I'm glad u do like him, he's a very special and good boy, but he's polarizing and I'm always curious as to why people like him

Okay, I just want to get one thing out of the way before we get into this because this is going to be a bit of a rollercoaster. (It's me, isn't it always? but i mean hey ho unfollow if u want because your dash is your own and i want you to be happy with who you're following. it's your account, you have the right to unfollow who you like. c:)

Disclaimer: (I know you won’t take this out of context, this is just in case someone comes across this post and only this post of mine and doesn’t read through my endless devotion to all charas and takes this all wrong ;;)  I haven't seen Legend Star in the mindset of being an Eiichi stan and I haven't listened to HEAVENS radio. I fully believe that Legend Star does not give us enough of an insight into HEAVENS nor does them justice as characters being introduced into the "main" Prince roster. Personally, I consider them as still flat characters despite their developments, that are still in the process of being fleshed out. That said, I haven't seen LS in some time and I don't remember every single detail. Anything I say here is based on my awful memory, headcanons and current mindset with the knowledge I have that will absolutely shift, change and grow in the future - just like Eiichi. I will also say, some mentions of character hate are below and some things are going to be worded a little harshly based on -past- opinions and first reactions (way back when Revolutions was released). I do not support character hate. All boys are best boys and all of the characters are fantastic, even if some of them are not among my personal favourites.

OKAY! LET'S GO, FRIEND.

 ...... I know you asked something extremely simple but I'm not a simple person and I kind of just want to vent write this in hopes a lot of good hcs and stuff come out of it. My short answer to you is:The thing I like the most about Eiichi is how he is written to be a negative foil to STARISH as a whole in the manner that Quartet Night attempted to be. QN did not succeed in this role, but Eiichi remains the powerhouse that introduces new problems into the narrative without being a complete asshole. He retains a personality that is complex, narrow-minded and realistic; he's that piece of the puzzle that brings this fantastic fantasy life into real life because we all know 'that guy'. But sometimes we fail to see two things: 'that guy' has a life and reasons for why the way he is -- and more often than not, sometimes, we ourselves our 'that guy' in some situations. His flaws.

When Eiichi, Nagi and Kira were introduced it seemed at first to me like they were nothing more than a complete money-grab an attempt to re-invest in an anime that perhaps was beginning to meet its end in terms of where it could go with a plotline. It was obvious that Nanami was going to remain impartial and oblivious to the advances of those around her and while we were going to continue to get singular episodes as "routes" no real romance was going to occur. Moving STARISH forward as a whole, something heavily built upon in the first season, was entirely dropped. There was starting to be a major lack of overarching plot for the series. Yes, every specific episode had a main plotpoint - but the anime was starting to lack an overall goal. Nanami herself seemed to slowly start to disappear from the series and ghost into the background and the characters already know each other for the most part; they weren't tossed into too many new situations to continue developing. 

We see so many "bits" of things just sort of.. very lightly ghosted over in the anime and then left to be forgotten. Examples through the seasons include Natsuki's backstory, Ai's story, Reiji/Aine, Ranmaru's history (is it even canon to the anime he was friends with Masato and Ren when they were younger?) - and of course, Camus, who hasn't had a lick of development. (I love you Camus. Anime does not do you justice.)  

Before this too is taken out of context, I want to state the anime is my favourite media of the series and I'm not hating on it at ALL. It's what got me into UtaPri and kept me in UtaPri for as many years as I've loved it and is very near and dear to my heart - I'm just saying, it's not delving into plotlines that it could. It's remained the light-hearted, airy, soft anime where all problems tied off at the end of each episode and that was that. Short and sweet. Yes, the story does move toward Triple S: but let's be real, we all know the outcome from the second the concept is introduced. STARISH will win. Of course they will. It's about STARISH. 

Heck, Revolutions' plotline is about their change and becoming on par with Quartet Night. Quartet Night wasn't done justice in the anime at all. I'm so thankful we got more of them in Revolutions,  but they seemed to have this strange "friendly but rival but friends but also lol maybe we'll take Nanami from you but none of us are actually going to propose that to Shining ever". It was just this weird loop. Again, all good boys, love the anime, great dynamics between them - but the plot as a whole was just... it was starting to get stale and repetitive with the sole focus on being this one tiny part of the world.

Enter HE☆VENS. Or, more specifically -- enter Eiichi.

☆ They expand upon the world of UtaPri quite significantly and open so many doors. (Gates? lolol.) Not only is another group brought into the mix without an established relationship that will dominate dynamics (senpai/kouhai, where STARISH must lean on Quartet Night and QN must mentor which kind of takes away from the "rivalry" potential.) They're starting from absolute scratch and bringing in an entirely new agency. From the way it's translated, it also sounds like HE☆VENS may have been around before STARISH but been established after Quartet Night. We're also introduced to Raging, who provides a lot more backstory for Shining.

☆ HE☆VENS poses a legitimate threat to taking away Nanami AND have made attempts to do so. They tried to force her to join them in 2000%, then tried to steal her in Revolutions and eventually asked her to join them in Legend Star. Eiichi made most of these attempts himself.

☆ Eiichi is extremely sly and smart. When his group was not disbanded, he instigated efforts to better everyone and they spent a year filling the group and practicing to storm in at the end of Revolutions. He knows full well that the winner wouldn't take their victory against HE☆VENS and would want a decisive concert. Which, potentially could have meant Quartet Night or STARISH being disbanded should HE☆VENS win. 

☆ While the rest of the group does soften considerably through Legend Star, EIICHI DOES NOT. He retains every fiber of the personality we first meet him with, at all times. To better explain the point here, I'll make an example of Nagi who originally came off as extremely bratty and high-handed who didn't really treat his bandmates that well. Later on, he's softened and instead of being high-handed, he adopts an annoyance similar to Syo's in most situation and loses that more brash side of him that we see when he slaps Natsuki's hand away - like with Shion. He has a clear affection for them and becomes a little more kind around them and not just in private with them. Eiichi, on the other hand, is developed in a different way, where he continues to be that strong-minded individual who acts out of lack of self-confidence. Fake it until you make it. Even when in private with his bandmates, he continues to keep up all the attitude we first meet him with. He continues to try to keep control of every situation and be a reliable leader, even to the point of emotionally manipulating even his bandmates (we see this even more with Otoya, too.) He grows, yes. Does he /change/? .. I don't really think so. Do we still get to see more sides of him? Yes. Do we see how he displays his love for others? Yes. But this is all done without 'losing' that edge he was first introduced to have. He is extremely, extremely responsible - but even when the time comes for consequences, he remains true to himself by manipulating the situation. He takes the fall for others, he uses his words to change perspectives, he takes control, he remains a leader.

☆ He doesn't change his views. When he's trying to bring out what he sees as the best in Otoya, he does it in a manipulative way that is in line with his personality and is an echo of how he was treated as he was growing up. He doesn't try to "inspire and move Otoya's heart through the power of music" like he might've if he fell head over heels in love with Nanami and had those feelings change who he was as a character. (Some just seem to swap personalities completely after falling for her, to me?) We see the flaws in him as this happens and how some people's minds are sometimes slightly skewed by their perspectives as Otoya goes 'darker' and Eiichi is pleased with how things are progressing. It's not being done to intentionally destroy him, but rather bring out another side of Otoya - and honestly, it looked to me like he was ready to offer a position in HE☆VENS to him. Which, again, is an active act against STARISH.

☆ this boy puts up with legitimately zero shit and if someone is not treating one of his boys right, he doesn't stand for it. i'm a bit concerned about potential discourse so i'm not going to name characters or exact situations out of respect for the characters & their fans, but there are some points in the series where certain characters treat others like. absolute. garbage. nothing is done about it. nobody has enough of a backbone to stand up and call the behaviour out, save maybe one. it's written off and dismissed. eiichi doesn't put up with it for a second. if you fuck him over, or upset someone in his group, or make a mistake -- just like how he has known ALL HIS LIFE -- there is a consequence. if he has to be the one to give it to you, he damn well will.

☆ eiichi has a backbone and is probably one of the most incredibly written characters in the anime yet despite being a flat character.

☆  ALSO HE IS INCREDIBLY PASSIONATE. LIKE SO, SO INCREDIBLY PASSIONATE IN A WAY THAT PUTS EVEN MASATO TO SHAME. Or rather, not to shame, but he has this... aggressive, confrontational, go-getter passion. An ambitious passion. For everything he does, for everyone who takes more than twelve seconds to give him the time of day and get to know him for who he is. He’s where he is because of those people and he just... he shows it by trying to be this rock that everyone around him can rely on all the time but really he is suffering so much on the inside. But he’s so selfless and not in a “look at how selfless i am!! pity me!!” way. He just genuinely wants to support those who stand by him. this is one loyal baby boy.

I have five thousand more points I could drive on and on about, but I'm going to cut this here because I'm starting to get a little bit upset about how he (and his beloved HE☆VENS are treated.) Anyway, I have to admit that what started my love for Eiichi was extremely small. It was nothing more than an answer to an ask that I wasn't even the one to send in. If it wasn't for someone with one of the most beautiful shows of love for this series that I have ever seen and their simple but beautiful art, some of the cutest I've ever seen - if it wasn't for how deeply they care about their blog and followers and the detail and care put into their work... I probably wouldn't have even given Eiichi the time of day. This blog was one of the first I ever followed and absolutely one that makes my day with their content. So thank you, @uta-no-fakku-sama for being such a massive part of this fandom in my eyes. Thank you for all you do and thank you for introducing me to a new favourite boy and putting up with the ridiculous amount of asks I send in, especially for him - I think I'm literally every anon... most of them, for sure.

Cielo (Kujou Tenn): It started a while ago, a memory that I didn't experience, and a slight doubt towards my own 'role.'

Cielo: I've been looking for the answer this whole time, but I haven't figured out anything......

Cielo: In these memories, I always see the clock tower. Just what is going on in the tower...?

Cielo: Tomorrow is the Wind-up Day that comes once a year.

Cielo: I might as well ask Augus, the robot who manages the clock tower.

Augus (Yaotome Gaku): ...... Okay, this should be fine.

Fabra (Nikaido Yamato): How's the clock?

Augus: Same as always. It shows the same time as my pocket watch.

Fabra: I see.......

Augus: ...... Is there something wrong? I always make sure this pocket watch and the watch in my room show the same time, so it shouldn't be wrong.

Fabra: ...... No, if the clock is good then it's fine. By the way, tomorrow is the day to wind the robots in the city.

Augus: I know. What about it?

Fabra: Would you mind helping me out?

Augus: ...... Well, I don't mind. But you always do it by yourself, right? How rare.

Fabra: I want to do it carefully this time.

Augus: Is that so?

Fabra: Yeah. I'm counting on you.

Fabra: ...... Yeah.

Augus: And I also manage a pocket watch along with it.

Augus: To make the clock move, we need the big tower, right?

Fabra: Yeah, we do.

Fabra: What do you want to say?

Augus: ...... Aside from the tower being a clock, does it have another 'role?’

Augus: Today, a weird robot came to me.

Augus: I always thought we needed a big tower to show off the clock. But, this pocket watch is a clock as well.

Fabra: It is.

Augus: We don't need a big tower to make a clock move. We can just use a small clock and go travel anywhere far from the clock tower, can't we?

Fabra: ...... Augus. Your 'role' is to manage the clock tower.

Augus: ............

Fabra: You will understand when the time comes. And when the time comes, your power will be needed.

Fabra: Sorry, but that's all I can say for now. I have something to do so I have to go now.

Augus: Hey! We're not done yet!

Part 19 - 'Role' and 'Duty'

Jane (Izumi Iori): That robot doll, he has been following Terra recently.

Jane: I’ve only seen him on the streets though......

Jane: Do you have something to do with Terra?

Cielo: ...... What?

Jane: That's my line.

Jane: You’ve been following Terra lately. What about him?

Cielo: Nothing......

Terra (Nanase Riku): Jane-saan! Where is this book's next volume?

Terra: ...... Wait, eh? Who are you?

Jane: Terra, this robot doll......

Cielo: What is your 'role'?

Terra: Eh? Um, my 'role'?

Cielo: Yes.

Terra: I don't know yet......

Cielo: Really!?

Jane: You, what are you...?
