20 for opm? 👀
(Salty Ask List)
Thanks for the ask, Raya!
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
Oh man that’s a tough one!
There are characters who are pure, but does it make a pure ship by putting them together?
In which case I guess it’d be Tanktop Master x Mumen Rider.
They are both dedicated to saving/protecting people, they fight until they can no longer fight, they acknowledge their limits and recognise the potential in others.
In a relationship, they would be supportive and respectful of each other, and wouldn’t try to control each other-- Mumen wants to attend a battle despite being injured, because he knows there will be civilians there in need of a C-Class hero? TTM recognises his passion to help people and is 100% behind him (riding illegally on the back of his bike. I mean, this is canon already lol).
I don’t ship it, because I like my ships messy and chaotic, but there is so much potential for pure goodnes from these two.
Alternatively! Mumen Rider x Glasses.
Because why have one hard-working and determined glasses-wearing character when you can have two?
They would eternally be encouraging each other and cheering each other on. These two would train together (on a fairly equal footing I think, because who knows how far up the ranks of B-Class Mumen could climb if only he’d gain some self-confidence in his abilities and let himself be promoted...) and they’d figure out each other’s weak points and work on them. And they would tend to each other’s injuries, and commiserate with each other about not being strong enough, whilst reminding each other they are not strong enough yet.
Bonus ship, because they’re my best idiot rarepair: Okamaitachi x Bushidrill
They’re both so dedicated to their master and the art of the sword, they have so much banter together and there’s so much respect between them. Kama may have her head temporarily turned by beautiful monsters, and Bushi may roll his eyes at that, but along with Iaian they make a tightly-knit squad. You cannot tell me they would not be prepared to die for each other if things got really hairy (which it literally has, previously)-- or with each other, for that matter (Apollo better not be reading this).
Kama and Bushi are confident in their abilities as heroes, but they’re also confident in each other as heroes. They respect each other’s ability to hold their own in a fight, but they still have each other’s backs, and they know they can always rely on each other to be there for them. There’s never any jealousy over their slight difference in ranking or the differences in their techniques (though Bushi may feel a little put out when Kama is drooling over Amai Mask). Their differences are what make them stronger as a team, and the respect between them forges a much stronger personal relationship.
Because yes, Kama ‘falls in love’ with handsome monsters, and yes, Bushi rolls his eyes and teases her for it-- but it’s done with humour and affection, and Kama teases right back. (”Did you fall in love?” / “Absolutely not!” ...sure, Bushi.)
(”Have you fallen for me again?” / “I never did!” if you’re going by Viz translations. Yes I needed to put both. Either way, sure, Bushi.)
They are just so good, okay? Neither of them are as pure a soul as the others mentioned here but they still have good hearts. And I think things like respect, dedication, support and acceptance of each other’s flaws makes a ship purer than both parties being pure in their own right.
And yeah, you could include Iaian in most of these statements because the sam fam trio are super close and work together like a well-oiled machine, but this is about ships and if I have the opportunity to ramble about a rarepair I will grab it with both hands lmao
This reply got long, thank you for giving me the opportunity to ramble!
(Salty Ask List)
#someone asked me the thing#thank you for asking me the thing#kamabushi#mumen rider has much pure ship potential#but kamabushi make for a more interesting ship#i do love me some mumen rider though he is the best boy#kakera rambles#kakera procrastinates

Because I've been missed my boi Badd, can I ask for a headcanon/oneshot (whichever do you wanted) about him after Badd was awoken in hospital and decided to pursue Garou? Like, you could write his inner thoughts or his new curiosity about Garou. You could make it shippy or not, it's your choice. I just love Batarou, be it them being romantic or platonic. Thank you so much, I hope you have a good week! 😘💕💖
I’m sorry this took me nearly a week to respond to!! I missed this boi too 💞😭Here’s a little oneshot of Badd’s internal reflections after fighting Garou, a monster like none he’s faced before, during his hospitalization post Super Fight Arc.
It turned out a little more angsty than I wanted it to but I hope you like it still
Gray Areas
“We're so quick to go to make things black and white, and to put things in their box. But everything is this mixture - and that's what this world is - is this blend of different things.” -Matisyahu
Warnings: Injuries, cursing
The sky was a dark, condescending gray. The cool wind brought a welcome rush of fresh air to the man who leaned up against the stairway railing, taking in the sight of the city from the roof.
Though hardly recognizable with his tousled hair and battered body, it was S-Class hero, Metal Bat.
To his relief, he had finally convinced his younger sister, Zenko to go home and get some sleep for school the next day. Though she initially vowed to stay by his side until he was released, she had finally conceded. After ensuring she was well on her way, Badd seized his chance to escape the sterile blandness of his hospital room and tenderly made his way to the roof.
-
None of the other heroes in the hospital had dared to confront him about his fight; not since he had lashed out at one of the injured martial artists from the Stadium that had questioned him.
“You call yourself an S-class hero? Then how is it that you’re here and the hero hunter is reportedly unscathed?”
Badd had sent a cart of empty dishes flying into the wall, causing a crash that hushed the other patients in the cafeteria.
“What kind of guy goes bashing in heads in front of his kid sister?! You expect a hero to kill someone in front of a little girl? You don’t know shit!”
The murmurs began amongst the onlookers as one of the nurses tried to calm him down and escort him back to his room. Some of them reacted in disbelief. Many echoed the speculations of that martial artist; the notorious Hero Hunter just walked away when confronted by child? No, Metal Bat must have been outmatched, or worse, he’d lost his resolve when faced with a human enemy.
Not a human enemy, Badd brooded to himself, he’s a hero hunter, a stinking monster like all the rest.
-
Despite several days passing since the ordeal, he could hear his name being spoken in hushed tones behind closed curtains, almost inevitably followed by “hero hunter”. Hardly any of them would even make eye contact when he saw them.
If Zenko hadn’t shown up before the finishing blow, I would have ended that monster right there, he reminded himself again.
But there had been a moment, just a fraction of a second after he’d frozen mid-swing at the sound of Zenko’s voice, when Garou had stared up at him. The sight of his face in that instant still lingered in Badd’s mind, gnawing at him no matter how hard he tried to forget it.
-
To make matters worse, the press had just announced to the world that the executive’s son he had been guarding had been taken hostage by the Monster Association. Of course, Zenko had been with him when the news broke.
“They’re holding that boy captive to lure in heroes? Why doesn’t he just stand up to them?” She said indignantly, as thought it was the obvious solution.
Badd sighed, remembering how the pampered little brat and his father had shrieked and cowered at the mere sight of a monster.
“Not all kids got guts like you, Zenko. And even if he managed to confront 'em, they’re monsters. They don’t care if it’s a kid, as long as they’re gettin’ what they want.”
“They don’t care if it’s a kid…” She grew strangely silent after that, seeming deep in thought as the news anchor prattled on about the Hero Association’s failures.
Shit, I can’t be talking doom and gloom around her. She might be fearless, but this ain’t somethin’ she should be worrying over. The news channel replayed the clip of Elder Centipede swirling through the air, reducing entire streets to rubble in seconds. I gotta get back out there. For her sake, for everyone’s sake-
Zenko turned to him, interrupting his thoughts.
“Big bro, that guy you were fighting in the street,” she started, with an inquisitive look, “was he really a mon-”
“H-hey look!” Badd exclaimed with false excitement, pointing to the TV. “They brought Amai Mask on!”
“Sweet Mask!!”
-
Badd was snapped out of his reflective trance by a sharp sting.
“Goddamn it,” he grumbled under his breath. He’d been picking idly at a bandage that had started to peel off his arm, tearing at the forming scab underneath.
She’s so damn perceptive for her age. Yes, Garou ended the fight once she stood between us, but there’s no way in hell it was for her safety. Monsters like him don’t think like that, unless...
Unless he’s a damn fake.
Badd was no stranger to fighting villains and monsters. He’d already eradicated hundreds in his few years since joining the Hero Association. He had grown familiar with the crazed ramblings of beasts lacking any sanity, and the delirious grins of the sick maniacs who attacked people for the joy of it. It was part of what made smacking a bat in their face so satisfying.
Why can’t I get the look of that bastard’s face out of my head? If I’d killed him in that instant, wouldn’t it have been for the best? After what he did to the Tanktop brothers, even poor Mumen Rider!
Badd groaned exasperatedly as he felt the first misty droplets of rain hit his face. He slid down to sit on the top step of the staircase, unwilling to resign back to his room. He rested his chin in the palm of his hand and stared into the dimness of the hall.
That look on Garou’s face, it wasn’t like a monster at all. In those gold eyes, there’s the same look I see in the mirror.
Just a human being, risking his life to fight for somethin’ he truly believes in.
The door to the staircase opened unexpectedly, startling Badd into standing at once. He gritted his teeth at the pangs in his leg after the sudden movement. The nurse who had started up the steps was wringing her hands together anxiously.
“Metal Bat! What are you doing up here? It’s going to rain! You need to keep your bandages dry!”
“Tch, don’t get all motherly on me,” he responded sharply, “I was just heading back anyways.” She gave him a wounded look as he rejected her offered arm to help him down the stairs.
Nice goin’, Badd. Very hero-like. He scolded himself.
He grumbled an apology and brushed past her down the stairs. He forced his face to remain stony to ease her concern, ignoring the shooting pain each step sent up his leg.
He got me good, damn bastard, I don’t care what he is! He concluded firmly.
Once we bash that Monster Association into the ground, I’ll make sure I’m the one to teach him a lesson about heroes and monsters.

#tysm for requesting this I haven’t written anything even moderately emotional in a long time#i just hope it isn’t too emotional 😭#batarou#badd#metal bat#garou#opm#oneshot

Why Ship Batarou? (ʃƪ˘ﻬ˘)
Cover made by @paperficwriter!!
EDITED!!!
This post is made in collaboration with @koeharu <3<3<3
--------------------
I'm tired of people outside heating a ship just to unload some personal anger on people they don't even know.
All those people who have asked the questions:
¨Why you shipping them? ¨
¨Is it even posible? ¨
¨Where is the dynamics of this? ¨
Well, well don’t worry... this is a post dedicated to answering those questions... and also in case someone wants to save energy against a hater.
------------------------
1.- Personality QwQ
¨One of my favorite things about the ship that drew me to it in the first place is their personalities! My initial thought was that in different circumstances, these two would get along since they’re both quite wild characters.” -K
Yeah!, uwu let's see:
-Both are proud and stubborn.
-They don't give up on anything and nobody.
-They are the boys who pretend to be rude and dry but have a big heart (among those firm pectorals 7w7)
-Both are good with children; they would never hurt an innocent civilian.
----------
¨Which led my to my next thought, we don't know much about Badd's outside life but it seems he only has his sister and we KNOW Garou is completely alone so they would both need someone there for them which they can find in each other ¨ -K
Exactly. The phrase "God makes them and they come together" would sound great. Sometime loneliness is a necessary feeling, but in a long time it will end up breaking you.
------------
¨And considering how they have both shown to be protective about things they care about they would be protective towards each other and that’s what really cemented the idea of this ship to me. It’s just so pure hearted but also fun in the different ways it can be explored ^^ ¨ -K
Garou did not have a good childhood, there was no one to share his thoughts even if he onley want to had a good conversation, he was always pointed with a finger and be recriminated.
Then we know that Badd is a protective guy and although many things will drive him out of his mind he is always willing to help, if he finds out about that sad past he would surely have a lot more empathy with Garou. Badd is not stupid (reckless maybe ... but not an idiot), he knew that Garou was lying when he said:
- "I have no time to lose with you".
He could not attack his sister because Garou possesses morality (much more than other heroes), he watched him go for a moment even naive of the situation. Something clearly did not fit and instead of being angry with, he simply let him go and continue with his work. (This point will be taken back later, remember *)
Assuming several things happen end up meeting again, and Badd gives him help, Garou would not forget that, many things have been denied to him but he would certainly be eternally grateful to found someone to give him a helping hand. Badd would then become his beginning, a way to start his life again. It’s that something that keeps us safe, that listens to us, that looks for us. If so, Garou would be under great care and esteem fort something that stays by his side and treats him as an equal: In this case Badd.
Also: Garou saved Zenko, even though he did it "unconsciously"
... The image speaks for itself.
2.- Design UwU
There are people who accuse us by saying that the only reason we have for shipping them is that they are “attractive”…. I'm like ... WTF?!
I mean, put the brain to work before the tongue in move.
Of course they are handsome! Of course they are attractive!! (I'm talking about the manga) to say otherwise would indicate that you need glasses!!! But that is not the point...
Another thing that we loved is the contrast of style baby :D. How saying it… it is as if they were the yin yang, the "perfect complement" for each other. Look in detail please:
@donlemefo draw!
G: Black shoes -B: White shoes (canonically on the manga)
G: White pants -B: Black pants
G: Dark sweatshirt -B: Color sweater
G: White Hair -B: Black Hair
G: Golden eyes -B: Brown eyes
U///U so akHKSASG yesss...
3.- Interactions
(* Returning to the previous point)
I have also heard people say that it is "impossible" that B and G get along again, arguing this: - Why would Garou want to have something to do with the person who almost killed him? And why would Badd talk to someone who beat him up earlier? -
¬_¬ Seriously ... SERIOUSLY?!!! ufff...
Not to make it long I will give the easiest example in the history of anime:
More than 20 years ago nobody, ABSOLUTELY nobody would have imagined that Vegeta would become one of Goku's best friends and his training partner.
So don't come to tell me that it is "impossible" for Garou and Badd to reconcile in the future dude. U-U*
Even YM took the time to make this nice section: This is just for them because in a way Badd once again realized that G was not completely bad.
--------------------- He.. Garou stays with the colored cat and Badd with the white ... coincidence?-------------
.....But there is one more bit ... something that was not seen elsewhere. Badd is not the only one who endured a good fight, of course. But nevertheless it is the one that by default would have won ... or at least leave him very badly injured. What our heart says most for this couple is:
4.- The teaching Badd left to Garou.
Garou learns almost instantly as he fights, but are physical-teachings. I explain:
+ Tank top Master = Brute Force
+ Golden Ball = Predict projectiles
+ Spring Mustache = Tolerate Weapons
+ Watchdog man = Beastly / Wild Movements
+ Mumen Rider = ……. Dodge crazy bike attack? X’D
But Badd is most acclaimed by us for his soul-teaching
Fighting Spirit! <3 HEART EYES MF! <3
Although Garou is a prodigy in what he does, it takes him a long time to understand what Badd told him at the time. He not only understood; He felt it and took it out of one the biggest trouble he got into.
Against a mental power you don't just have to be physically strong, if your spirit and thought is incorruptible… you are unstoppable. (Those who read the webcomic and manga understand what I say)
----------------------NEW EDITED!!!---------
This is the most recent that has come out. Is't not curious? That among all the fights that Garou has had; a "parallel" of his fight with Badd it's made again?
Here, explicitly Darkshine thinks the words that Garou said of Badd back time.
D: ¨His movements actually getting faster? ¨ G: "His swings are getting faster?"
Including a subtle reference to increased power, since Garou is not giving up... just like MB.
Or Murata is doing all this unconsciously ... or really knows perfectly what he does. Remember that what Murata draws has to be made aware from ONE, then ... I will continue waiting for wich will be his next move.
------------------------
It is true that Garou interacted with more characters. But, like many of us, we focus on Badd for a ship. What our sense tells is that there is no other character that "fits" better with him that Badd. They are a good mix ... a good couple.
Comment what do you like about this ship, I would love to read your ideas!
@koeharu @dies-first @neko09oarmy
Finally I want to clarify something very important ... this is for you. That's right ... FOR YOU person who loves to see the world burn. If you do not agree with a ship, there is a nice option to block everything you don't want to see on tumblr. Do not waste your strength to argue with someone, you just look worse than you try to make the ship and its derivatives look bad. -K & T
----------------- I apologize if I get to sound "upset" in the answers, but as people treat me I will treat them---------
#batarou#garou#badd#opm season 2#why ship them?#<3<3<3#ajsghfd#the hero hunter#metal bat#garou x metalbat#ship#soo many feelings!!!#tag#i love these boys#batarou4ever!!

“Dude, you’re like, an asshole.”
Aka which of the characters are assholes and which ones aren’t.
Judged on my completely unbiased scale of which characters I find intolerable and which ones I have a soft spot for, so take this with a grain of salt as canon.
Disclaimer: This is a joke list and very few of these are thoughtful placements.
Minor Assholes.
Kind of a variable category. Mostly characters who are assholes in the sense of like. Being terrible people, but at least they like, have morals and shit. There’s a lot of variation here.
Sonic-Already a hot take. Listen. Maybe he does murder sometimes but like. He’s somehow less intolerable than the major dipshits below. And at least he has like, morals and shit. You think Metal Knight has that? No way.
Garou-Once again, suuuper not objective. He’s 100% an asshole, but he’s got a pretty strict moral code and lines he would not cross, and his end goal is good. I do wonder how he was planning on becoming a symbol of fear without killing anyone though. Like I’d say he’s an “ends will justify the means” kind of guy but like...his plan was to scare people into banding together and killing him and...not killing anyone himself? I’m confused and he is too. Anyways he’s somehow less of an asshole than some of the other characters.
Atomic Samurai-He’s arrogant, but he’s not a bad person. I love clowning on this man with strict morals and a massive ego.
Flashy Flash-Kinda a mix of Sonic and Atomic Samurai. Like he’s a dick, but boy is it fun to watch him call people out (looking at you Death Gatling). I do think his moral compass is more fucked up than Sonics is though. Does that make me dumb? Has Sonic’s ass rotted my brain? Idk I can’t speak to the webcomic bc I know we get more of his and Sonic’s backstory there but ik vaguely about the Ninja Village.
Watchdog Man-He makes everyone sit at a professional meeting with him while in his fursuit. He eats like a dog. Subjecting people to your fursona 24/7 is rude, man.
Major Assholes.
You know when Sonic “I-assassinate-people-and-play-bodyguard-for-the-dregs-of-society” One Punch Man and Garou are minor assholes, we’ve got some heavy hitters down the line.
Metal Knight-This one is self-explanatory. Fuck this guy.
Drive Knight-A wise man once said “he’s the kind of guy who’ll send you an NSFW link at work then report you for clicking on it.”
Amai Mask-Listen, [webcomic spoiler] or not, he’s an asshole. I don’t care that he’s sad, man. He’s still a dick.
Puri Puri Prisoner-We all know why.
Blast-This bitch really just fucking noped out of hero work bc he does it for fun. How many people have died bc this blank faced fuck decided he’d rather go take a vacation to OPM!Six Flags instead of idk, helping people?
Not an Asshole.
Mumen Rider-Does not have a mean bone in his body. We all know he is the king of good samaritans.
Tank Top Master-Almost put him in minor asshole bc of Tank Top Tiger and Black Hole, but the rest of the group seems chill. He’s a genuinely kind guy.
King-Kind of dickish for hiding him being a fraud but he’s good.
Pig God-Minds his business. Gentle. Seems to genuinely care about Child Emperor’s safety/concerns.
Child Emperor-He’s baby.
Bang-His advice can sound a bit like a fake deep quote from pinterest, but he means well and he’s not hurting anyone.
Bomb-Just a supportive bro.
An Asshole, but Has a Good Heart
Tatsumaki-I cannot defend Tatsumaki’s behavior, but I love her and she clearly cares about civilians’ safety. She’s an asshole but she’s doing her best.
Fubuki-Beneath that social climbing, she’s got a good heart too. She just lets her self-doubt control her and ends up being an asshole to others because of it. I mean, she tried to kill or at least seriously maim Saitama.
Genos-He’s mean as fuck to anyone who isn’t Saitama or Dr. Kuseno. And it’s not just because he has a hard time reading social cues, he like. chooses to be rude to Fubuki, and stuff like that. He genuinely cares about doing what’s right though, he’s got a lot of compassion for the defenseless.
Not an Asshole, just Grumpy.
Saitama-Stays in his lane. Does right by people for the sake of doing good. Just wants to get a good deal.
Zombieman-He just wants to take a nap, but this annoying fucking idol won’t shut his trap. So if a few sharp insults come out every once in a while, can you really blame him?
Metal Bat-Full of rage and love for his little sister. Has a lot of bravado and an ego, but will throw all that away to make Zenko happy. Rescues cats in his free time. Apparently is a pacifist despite his entire fighting strategy being braining monsters with a baseball bat.
The Narrative Surrounding This Character Makes Me Uncomfortable and Their Actions Qualify Them as an Asshole But the Narrative Doesn’t Acknowledge That.
Superalloy Darkshine-They really should have changed his backstory.

Yandere One Punch Man Headcanons Pt. 2
99-nct asked: “If it’s not too much to ask, could you do a couple more for characters like Garou and Amai mask (with maybe some s-class heroes)?”
Anon asked: “Hello!! Can I please please get a yandere garou headcanons, tyy :)”
As per requests, I’ve decided to write the second part of Yandere OPM headcanons. I admit, Garou was a little hard for me to imagine but he certainly has a yandere potential. So, I apologize if it’s not up to your liking. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it!
If you like my writing, please support me on ko-fi!
Amai Mask
Pretty boy... I honestly love his short hair more than the long one
Probably the busiest yandere out of the others
Vain
You might catch his interest due to your strong power and beauty
Though I can see him liking a celebrity as well
But you know, cameras are on them all the time
So it decreases his chance of ‘owning’ you
Amai Mask is very generous, you see
There’s nothing he won’t buy for you
Clothes? Just take them
Cars? Pick any brand you want
Vacations? Where do you have in mind, darling?
Tries to organize his time evenly, but fails miserably
I mean, he's still human and juggles tons of jobs
Hero, model, actor, singer
Each needs his attention just as much
It’s hard to be organized when you always have something to do
But it’s a hidden blessing, you know
You can escape anytime he goes to work
Which is almost all the time, to be honest
But you gotta know that he’s famous and therefore, has many connections
You can escape to other countries and he'll be there to bring you back
Or one of his lackeys
Or even his GODDAMN fans
Whoever and whichever works the best
He’s not delusional per se
More like he doesn’t understand why do you want to leave after he provides you with literally everything you need
Though, not exactly self-aware either
Harsh in punishing
Bondage, starvation, isolation you name it
Prefer sexual punishment than physical one
Merciless in killing anyone who even injures you in the slightest
Especially monsters
Has a burning hatred in everything he deems evil and ugly
And anyone who taints your beauty shall not live long on his hands
Definitely obsessed and possessive with you
Likes to mark you
He’s not too forceful in showing you off
Because he knows that you’re his
The world knows, all heroes know, his fans know
You literally have no chance in escaping
So you might as well give up and start enjoying the luxury he happily bestow upon you
Before he takes them away
Garou
The first time I saw him I thought he was Bang's younger self
Surprisingly nice to kids
Therefore, he might be more attracted to younger partners
Won’t tolerate being looked down upon
A mere scolding is enough to set him off into an enraged state
So you have to tread carefully with him
Very carefully it’s ridiculous
It’s like walking on an extremely thin rope or a brittle ice with bubbling fire underneath
Which is his temper, by the way
Unless you’re feeling suicidal enough to get a taste of his anger
Doesn’t mind hurting you to prove his point
You might be one of those wallflowers as he hates popular ones
Despite that, he's always protecting you from any bullies
A good shoulder to cry on
He knows what it feels like to be bullied so he easily sympathizes with you
Yet, he often belittles your low self-esteem to disguise his good intentions
After all, he doesn’t want you to think that he’s gone soft on you
In a way, he’s like Tatsumaki but meaner
Sometimes you have to hold him back from fighting any heroes who have the misfortune on crossing paths with you
Absolutely wants to start a family with you at some point
It doesn’t matter if you’re not ready
He likes children and he wants one
So either he forces you to make love with him or adopt a child
Stalks you at all times
If anyone has the audacity to harm you, he’ll kill them right in front of you
Won’t lie and instead boast when you ask him if he’s stalking you
Not clingy, has too much pride for that
Possessive
But he doesn’t mind if people talk to you
As long as they keep the boundaries in mind, he stays chill
Like Saitama, Garou won’t kill humans
Unless provoked
Then again, who wants to provoke such a dangerous man?
He doesn’t get a nickname ‘Human Monster’ for nothing, you know?
Metal Bat
If his sister doesn’t like you, then he won’t
Depending on how you see it, it can be an advantageous situation for you
You just have to make yourself as unpleasant as possible
Then Bad would certainly release you
But he's not all temperamental and cockiness
He’s smarter than he looks
So he'll catch on your attempt rather quickly
Let’s just say that you’ll be traumatized so much you won’t be able to look at Zenko in the eye again
Hard on the outside, soft on the inside
Loves spoiling you
But he’s a little tsundere
Secretly clingy it’s almost endearing
Overprotective like hell
Sometimes stalk you from the shadows
He just wants to make sure that you’re okay all the time
Blushes heavily whenever you show any sign of affection to him
Not above threatening you, either
Quite terrible in lying, so subtle manipulation doesn’t come as easy for him
So he uses fear instead
Won’t force you to start a family with him
But wishes for it anyway
Sometimes comes to your apartment/house unannounced
Loves cooking for you
Especially when you’re the type who eats snacks all the time
He can easily excuse it as ‘you need to more healthy food’
If Zenko likes you, you’ll probably spend the majority of your time in their apartment
Thus giving him more chance to get close with you
Or if you’re a hero, then Bad will find a way to work together
It doesn’t matter if you refuse
Bad’s stubborn
Therefore you need to suck it up
Unless you want to suffer again
Zombieman
Serious and strict
Doesn’t really care about your feelings
Won’t hesitate to kidnap you
Secretive about his past
Very jealous
You can stab him all the time you want and he’ll still alive
He’s immortal, you see
Hence his name
So if you want to leave, you need to step up your game
And you can’t give any hint that you’re scheming something either
Intelligent with a detective-like thinking
If you even show the slightest odd behavior, then he'll immediately be suspicious
However, he’s fairly forgiving
As long as you apologize sincerely and promise that you wouldn’t repeat that mistake
Openly shows his annoyance at your habits that he finds irritating
Such as eating greedily or with mouth open
Prefers modest partner than loud-mouthed ones
Thinks that they’re easier to be ‘taught’
Not at all bothered with death or gore
Doesn’t mind killing in your sight
Because you should get used to it now or force yourself to do it
A lone wolf
If someone is bothering you
Rest assured he’ll come home with their head as the ‘souvenir’
Suppose you’re a powerful hero
Might develop an inferiority complex to you
But he won’t show it, of course
Don’t be surprised if he asks you to be his sparring partner someday
Knows his limit very well
However, it doesn’t mean he’s giving up either
He'll create a plan
And when the time comes
Your enemies/anyone who harms you will disappear
King
Looks intimidating at first glance
A HUGE otaku
Don’t get me wrong, tho
He can bluff his way out of everything
Too much of a coward to actually kill a person or monster
But can be pretty possessive
Peacemaker
Doesn’t like to argue with you
Willing to throw away his stashes of otome games in exchange for your affection
Or if you show any sign of jealousy
Obsessive, secretly collects your photos or posters
Especially if you’re famous
Gaming together as a date
Always win
Unless you’re an expert like him too
Then be prepared for lots of rematches
Not that you complain
Dominant in public, submissive in bedroom
I feel like he’s suitable for a quietly assertive partner that seems submissive on the outside
Needs guidance because he’s pretty clueless in real relationship
That’s why you can easily escape from him
If you’re famous
Then he would be one of those obsessive fans
Always sending you love letters and tells you to stay healthy
Might stalk you too
But he always excuse it as ‘passing by’
And you’ll believe him of course
Because why would a hero like him stalk you?
You feel honored to have the strongest man on earth as your fan
Whenever he meets you by chance, he’d get tongue-tied
But it’s endearing
You’d never know that he’s a yandere
Mumen Rider
I know he’s not an S-class hero but I have a soft spot for him, okay? I mean, do you see how precious he is in this gif?
The subbiest yandere out of any yanderes
Like, he wants to do everything to ensure you’re comfortable with him
You want food at three in the morning? Okay, let me put on my helmet first
You’re feeling ill? What kind of medicine do you need?
Your feet hurt? Here, let me massage them for you
You’ll feel like you’re a royalty when dating him
Which is his intention by the way
He wants to make sure that your needs are met
Feels sad if you talk to other men or purposefully making him jealous
Because he’s done so much for you
He’ll take it that he needs to improve more
Extremely hardworking to the point of being a perfectionist
If you show the slightest displeasure towards something, especially if it’s his action, then he'll blame himself
Tends to ask or send you messages with ‘are you okay?’, ‘how are you feeling?’, or ‘do you need anything?’
Puts your feelings above his
Loyal
If someone bullying you, then he'll step in like a brave hero he is
He's weak compare to other heroes
But his determination is admirable
Dominant in bed
Only because he wants to make you feel good
However, he doesn’t mind giving the reins to you if you’re the dominant type
Loves to appreciate every inch of your body
Very supportive in any hobby you do, even if he doesn’t particularly like it
Won’t hesitate sacrificing himself should a danger ever arises
You often lecture him on the importance of self-preservation
If you ever save him, be it accidental or intentional
Then he'd be your BIGGEST fan
Like King, he'd send you love letters
Considerate and sympathetic
He'll charm you with his pure heart and sincere kindness
You don’t want to leave him
Because such a man is very rare amidst insincere heroes
Or maybe it’s just me but oh well

How Tasuku Sendou Meets Buddyfight
Tasuku Sendou first found Buddyfight when he was 8 (Wikia says he is 13) He walked into this new card shop that opened up at his new school. He was wearing blue graphic t-shirt of Dragonic Overlord “The End,” denim shorts, and red-and-blue crocs. His two decks were stashed in his belt, ready at a cardfight’s notice.
Since you are wondering why he is alone, it’s because his parents, Toshiki and Aichi Sendou, are checking out Aibo Academy for his schooling. They told him--well, Dad Tou-san told him--to check out the campus. Aunt Emi and Uncle Kamui, because he can’t let his kami leave his sight, were there as chaperones. He saw the shop across the sideway, with students of various ages staining the windows with cheese sauce, on their way by, and gave his Aunt and Uncle the slip. They were too busy discussing ice cream flavors to be responsible guardians.
A ring sounded through him as he stepped through. “Ohayo.” He looked around for a cashier, but no one was up front.
“My Vern Killer, Igulu deals 2 damage. Take that, loser!” He heard a teen male in the back, a crowd of whomever cheering him on. He jogged on over.
“I discard a card and Strange Kiteman blocks your attack!” An less-than-10-year-old screamed back.
“Tch! Don’t get cocky, weakling!”
Tasuku yelled, “Oi! Stop harrassing him! That’s not cool!”
The two boys didn’t stop the cardfight. The crowd looked even on who they’re cheering for.
Once he got there, slightly winded, Tasuku saw that the board was different.
He murmured to himself, “I’ve never seen that game before.” Not to mention the few obviously-out-of-this-world creatures surrounding the two of them that nobody commented on.
It’s probably because he inherited Psyqualia, “I gave it to them” be damned.
The dude next to him gasped, looking horrified. “Nani?! You’ve never heard of Buddyfight?!”
“E-eto...what’s Buddyfight? Is it another TCG?”
“Yeah, you dumbf**k!”
Slap!
“Don’t say that, you moron!” The red-eyed bluenet growled.
“What’s going on here?” An employee asked.
Tasuku responded, “this bozo cursed me!” pointing at the ugly moron.
The dude moves to punch him, but the employee, who is thicc (yes, Author-san means to say this. He basically looks like your stereotypical mechanic/lumberjack but without the gunk) muscles, stops it. The dude starts yelling garbage. “Language, gaki! Do you want to be banned from this shop?”
“...”
The dude stomped away in a war cry, leaving the shop.
“This skill adds plus-1 attack! I win!” The younger player cheerily announces.
“Aaaaaah! You brat, I’ll--” The employee drags away the teen, his deck left on the table. The younger had already moved off, presumably to his friends, reveling in his victory over the maybe-bully. His...unit...trailed behind him...what a tiny unit...
Tasuku studies the board as a new pair begin their own cardfight, the maybe-bully’s deck shoved onto the floor. Remembering cardfight etiquette, he picks up the cards and returns them to the cash register. “Lost and found, please.”
Tasuku watches a few more “Buddyfights” until the thicc man pulls him over to the cash register.
“Hey, kid, you wanna Buddyfight?” Tasuku nods. “Ok. What World would you like to choose from?”
“The boys both had Dragon World flags, right?”
“You got that right, kid. Hey, what’s your name?”
“E-Eto...Tasuku Sendou, sir.”
“Sendou, eh? Related to Toshiki Sendou?”
“Yes, sir. Tou-san is playing in Germany right now, moving to Bulgaria in a few days.”
“Gaki, he’ll have to lose eventually.”
“I watch his plays live when I can, sometimes with Kaa-san.”
“Aichi Sendou, the best Vanguard player in the world, right?”
“Hai.”
“Well, then, Dragon World would be a perfect fit!”
Tasuku bowed, sparkly-eyed. “Arigato.”
He received a booster pack along with a starter deck, free of charge. “You probably don’t have any dough on you, after all.”
Then the employee, who introduced himself as the manager, insisted on seeing him unpack the booster.
The package ripped open like badly-done denim stitches. And he’s seen horrid “craftmanship,” if you could call them that. “Card 1....Grade 1 Dragon.”
“You’ll do better.”
“...Card 2--nani?!” They both gasped.
Card 2 glowed and went flying all over! Tasuku followed it out the shop, all the way to an empty parking lot out back. It manifested in blinding light, from which the eight-year-old blocked his eyes, and finally settled down into a humongous monster the size of a building. It roared.
“Eh??Who are you?!” It was green, with humongous, heavy armor, a black...thing for a head covering, and elephantous wings that could protect him from a storm.
“Oh? First thing out of your tiny, human mouth is not ‘Are you my Buddy?’‘“
“Eto, I haven’t even played yet. I just came here not even an hour ago!”
“And yet, you drew me. What is your name, gaki?”
He stared it straight in the eyes, like he does any protester. “Tasuku Sendou. I love anything card-related!”
“Hmmph! I am Jackknife Dragon, and I will be your Buddy!” Jackknife slipped back into the package in card form. And suddenly a skinny dude who looks like space-age Mumen Rider ran up and said, “Kid! This is the Buddy Police!” He looked tired out.
“N-nani?! I didn’t do anything,” the boy squirmed like his Kaa-san to defend himself. “Is that a Buddyfight thing?!”
“You have a new Buddy, right?”
“H-hai!” Swoosh! Mumen Rider shoved a deck right in his face. It had a
“It’s your Core Deck case! Every person who gets a Buddy recieves one. Take it!” Tasuku complies. (I’m going to copy Tasuku’s intro of Gao’s case from S1E1 onto here because it’s been years since I last saw the show.) “It can be transformed into a core gadget, which will allow you to Luminize your deck.”
“Luminise?” (Ok, end of copy-paste. Back to Original Content!)
“Hai. Luminize. It activates your deck for a Buddyfight.”
“Like in a 3D Hologram format?”
“This is real-life, gaki. The monsters--”
“Monsters! That’s a bit mean, don’t you think?!” The Psyqualia user raged.
“Eh, the Monsters are fine with that, gaki!”
“That’s no reason to--!”
“ANYWAY, this comes from the Buddy Card Office. They’re in charge of the Core Deck cases.”
“Eh? Can I at least learn how to play, first?!”
“Whatever, gaki. I gotta go!” And with that, Mumen Rider sped away like a coward.
Tasuku sweatdropped and headed back to the shop to learn how to play.
Manager-sensei taught him how to play--with the board, thank goodness. Tasuku still had fun, even though it was a swift defeat.
After that, he thanked Manager-sensei and left with his new Buddyfight deck in hand.
As soon as Tasuku left the shop, the dragon came back from Card form on his own into a chibi-Jackknife Dragon.
And proceeded to pester him about his home life, to which the boy learned how to pester the other into silence.
About a dozen minutes later, he found Auntie Emi and Uncle Kamui. They greeted him back as if it was just a potty break.
Back home, during the discussion with his parents on his schooling, he slipped in, “Kaa-san, Tou-san? There’s this new card game called Buddyfight. And--” he proceeded to tell his parents about his adventure, leaving out the part that he snuck off for it. Jackknife Dragon had already disappeared into his desk just before the three humans met up with the parents to take the half-hour bus ride home.
Tou-san said that they should make a sue list, for each time that the Buddy Police tick them off. For blackmail ‘n stuff. It’s not the first sueing list they have, and it certainly won’t be the last.
Anyway, it’s Aibo Academy, Elementary Division, for Tasuku Sendou now! As a 3rd grader!
Since then, the newbie fought many players, grew stronger at Buddyfight, bonded well with Jackknife, and became...the number 1 target of the Buddy Police. They pestered him at least once a week to join their force, child labor laws aside.
But he could never quite say the names of Buddyfight’s functions as they are. He instead replaced them with Vanguard terminology, and got booed for that.
That is, until he met Gao Mikado.
It started off a regular day. The day before, he defeated someone targeted by the Buddy Police. The hooker (he looks like a hooker) challenged him for being “the boy wonder cop,” even though he clearly isn’t a cop, and got obliterated in a Buddyfight.
Of course, that was taken on camera, and the fangirls wouldn’t stop chasing him if it wasn’t for the fact that he lived out of town.
Another addition to The Buddy Police Sue(ing) List. At least Tou-san wouldn’t leave until the morning.
The next day, the Buddy Police blackmailed him into helping them with something during school--again. It turned out to be just another kid getting their Core Deck case, this one also being a giant dragon--although only about half as big as Jackknife.
He ran onto the courtyard from class, ready with the red case, as soon as he saw the flying, glowing card along with some other classmates, and bumped into Gao Mikado. He let Drumbunker and Gao have their speech before butting in with the damn mission. Meanwhile, the whole school took the time to run out to see the “dreamy Tasuku Ryuenji.”
“Cool, cool. Anyway, the Buddy Police have forced me to give you this.” He handed Gao the red Core Deck case.
By this time, practically everyone at school is be watching, even ones as young as his sister. And Paruko Nanana, Her Walking Horniness.
Nanana shouted something about “Buddy Police business” or “for me, Paruko Nanana” from her UFO.
Tasuku turned to her and said, “I’m sorry to disappoint, Nanana, but I’m gay.”
“NANI?!”
“You look conventionally attractive, a depiction of cute, but I’m only attracted to guys.”
“This just in! Tasuku Ryuenji is not interested in girls!”
“Excuse me! The name is Tasuku Sendou, you dimwits! Also, the school has known this since I was eight! My parents signed me up for Aibo Academy for 3rd grade, and it was as Tasuku Sendou! My debut in the papers was as a gay child!”
Nanana cried, and about half the crowds. The rest sounded like conspiratorial whispers. Some must be the some of the few Vanguard players the school has. They were forced to take on a Buddyfight deck, or they’d be isolated and marked as the wirdos losers who should be avoided.
“Anyway, Gao-kun. It’s your Core Deck case, which all persons with a Buddy have. It’ll allow you to Luminize to Buddyfight anywhere, at anytime, kinda like a holo-system. It’s magic stuff. It also makes you an official Buddyfighter and stuff. Now that I’ve said my piece, I really must get back to class.”
“Oi! Ryu--”Sendou glared! “I-I MEAN Sendou-senpai, “Gao stuttered. “You can’t just leave me like that! What if I challenge you to a Buddyfight to help train me?” Gao shouted, restored back to his previous confidence. Tasuku felt a little queasy.
The whole school gasped. “Oh?” Tasuku smiled. “You want to challenge me? Tasuku Sendou? The strongest cardfighter in all of the Aibo Academy student cast?”
“Cardfighter?”
“Yeah, cardfighter. I mainly play Vanguard. It’s my affinity. I also play Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, Hearthstone, and various other card-related games, but to a much lesser extent. Don’t worry, I’m almost the strongest in the student cast in Buddyfight, too.” He beamed, truly excited for a good match. Gao looks hot enough for a “stiffy.” Drumbunker sniffed the air, surprisingly being able to detect this “foreign fluid,” as people called it.
“Sugoi! That all sounds so cool,” Gao had his eyes furrowed as he asked this, the smile looking fake. “How is it, liking guys?”
Tasuku shrugged. “I find it hard to explain to a cisgender straight male under the age of eighteen.”
Gao looked a vaguely stoned (yes, druggie-stoned, too) for like a second before snapping back. “A-anyway! Do you accept my challenge?”
“Sure!” Tasuku extended his deck outward, attempting to officiate the deal. “I accept your challenge to a Buddyfight!”
Gao responded by pointing his own deck, now in the Core Deck case, outward, sealing the deal.
The adults then reminded them that they still have class. They all agree to do it after school.
Tasuku informed Kaa-san about this during lunch before drifting off to nap on a bench. This time, an elementary schooler woke him up 5 minutes before the bell.
At the match, (Tasuku does the same speech as in the anime), Tasuku goes first.
“I call my dragon army. Dragonic Force, Luminize!” His Core Gadget takes the shape of a red Flogal with yellow hair. It was decently sized.
Tasuku again feels queasy listening to Gao, his sun symbolism and his protector’s spirit.
At the same time as that’s happening, Aichi Sendou is recording his son. Toshiki-kun has to see this! Tasuku spies his mother at the same time that Gao spies his sister. Mother and son wave to each other. Tasuku holds up to two fingers with a closed-eye grin.
Too-dles! It doesn’t matter whether he wins or loses. He’s going to have fun, anyway.
When they see the center being empty, they think that Gao Mikado must have a plan.
They weren’t disappointed.
Tasuku sighs in resignation, and thinks to himself that that was fun.
At the sign-out with Gao, he says, “Good match, Gao-kun. You are certainly worthy of being my rival.”
“Eh?!”
“Yeah. Here. I give you Gargantua Punisher.” He does.
“Nani?! But that’s--”
Gao sees a darkness overcome him, dragon-like eyes forcing him into shock. His vision goes hazy, an image of the picture on Gargantua Punisher change from Tasuku-senpai’s visage to his own in a blurry takeover. As soon as that happens, this paralyzing feelings goes away and he snaps back to reality.
“Oh, and Gao-kun?” Nani?
And suddenly he feels his heart skip a beat. Tasuku-senpai is right up in his ear! “About me being gay,” he whispers, deep and husky and Gao suddenly can’tbreathe! One needle-sharp red eye is dominating his. He feels an extreme heat pooling in his cheeks faster than a judo-slam. “I think you’re incredibly cute.” He can feel Tasuku-senpai-oh-my-gosh-he’s-so-hot! dragon-breath at his ear. The older runs off in a direction, his Buddy flying right behind him.
Gao runs over to the other. “W-wait!” Gao practically squeals, though he would forever deny it.
Tasuku-hottie--wait, what?!--stops and pivots at him, flashing a different grin that has Gao in a stuttering, queasy-all-over mess. What am I feeling? Gao stops at the halfway mark. He hears someone gasp. “Hai, Gao-kun.”
Oh my gosh, say it again! Gao feels like vomiting, noican’timustn’tgivein! He stands up straighter, trying to keep his cool. “I-I mean, I fe-f-f-feel I-uh-mm-ust give ya-you suh-something!”
“Oh? What ever could it be?” Why is he in my face?? It’s not even two inches!
“So-so, I-I can give you my-my Dragob-br-brave! Gao shoves it at the older, thankfully distancing them-whatwashedoing?
“That doesn’t even come near to a fair trade!” The girl protests.
Tasuku-senpai flashes her a different smile--OMGJUSTLOOKATMENOTHER! “It’s perfectly fine, Nanana.” The UFO girl looks dizzy, too andGaowantstofaintbuthecan’tcuz--
“Whatever you say, Ryuenji-senpai.” And faints. The UFO goes away and she falls. He doesn’t have the heart to try to save her.
Tasuku-senpai looks real mad again. He takes Dragobrave, but their fingers brush, and he still looks at Gao, and he says finally, “Oh, my. Can you say my name, Gao-kun?” Gao’s already-persistent blush is flooding to the rest of his body, and it’shappeningdownthereagainohmygoshpleasestoplookatmesenpai!
Then Tasuku-senpai leaves. Everything is a blur from then on, a wet nightmare of red stuff that leaves Gao defenseless and queasy and he feels about to vomit but he can’t cuz thats’swrong! He can vaguely recall hearing Tasuku-senpai greet a male he calls and looks his “Kaa-san,” and Gao can’t takeitanymore and his consciousness faints and doesn’t wake up to awareness until morn.

The streets below Saitama’s window were covered in fog that morning. Lazy-ghost-like strands of mist crawled along the cobbled streets as the sun fought to send even a glimmer of cold light onto their town.
Glorious, he thought. Not even the sun is feeling it today.
A knock reverberated through his room and he looked away from the view, to glare et his door.
“What?” he said.
“Are you ready to leave yet?” his dad’s voice could be heard, as the door opened and he peeked in only to give Saitama one disapproving glance.
“Yeah”, Saitama sighed, as though the word itself was too much effort.
“Your tie isn’t done properly. Fix it then meet me in the car”, his dad said and turned to leave, but then back tracked to smile coldly at his son. “And please look more excited. It’s a wonderful day for a wedding.”
“Wonderful”, he mumbled mockingly at the fleeing back of his dad. He took one final look at the unforgiving world outside his window and followed suit, not fixing his tie.
Minutes later, Saitama stepped into a foreign building bathed sparsely in light, portraits of past residents hanging along the walls. He shook hands with his soon to be father- and mother-in-law and impolitely ignored everything they said. The parents spoke to one another about the arranged wedding with greedy smiles on their faces, while Saitama hung behind as they made their way though the corridor.
The second they turned a corner and left Saitama out of sight, he stopped.
He found a lonely staircase and sat down at its end. The polished rock beneath him was cold, just like the monotone color scheme that covered the entire household. He could not imagine anyone living within these walls to be even remotely friendly.
“Hello?”
He turned around and stared in awe at the first genuine smile he had seen this week. The young man was half way down the stairs, moving gracefully with one hand gliding along the dark wooden railing.
“Hi”, Saitama said and stood, “Mr. Rider. Nice to meet you.”
They shook hands, and he tried not to drown in those warm eyes, enlarged by the thick glasses resting on Rider’s nose.
“Nice to meet you too, Saitama. And please call me Mumen. We are”, he faltered,” getting married after all.”
“Yeah…” There was nothing to be said about that. Two men, forcefully brought together to benefit their respective families. He looked down, considering Mumen’s shoes and pant legs in comparison to his own. It was quite unremarkable. “Mumen. Guess we’ll get to know each other soon.” He attempted a smile, seeing how positive Mumen appeared even now.
“Yeah… Oh, we should go meet up with our parents, right? Don’t wanna keep them waiting”, he said, reaching for Saitama’s hand.
“I don’t mind keeping my old man waiting, though,” Saitama grinned. Mumen actually laughed, and it rang nicely in the corridor.
“Haha! Well, I can show you around as we go, there’s no need to be in a hurry.”
“Okay.”
Mumen named the golden-framed portraits for him as they walked, and Saitama did his best to make a pun out of every single one of them, which he gratefully found out that Mumen enjoyed, even if he did try to scold him afterwards. He also found out that Mumen loved travelling, and that his dream was to bike across the country.
“That sounds hard”, Saitama mentioned.
“It would be a challenge. But think of all you would see, and what you could learn!” Mumen said, eyes shining.
All in all, Saitama thought that maybe this would not be so bad, after all.
He held that cautious glimmer of hope for the grand total of five minutes. Then he met the raisin of a priest waiting for them with his mouth pressed tight. Saitama’s dad stood on one side and Mumen’s parents on the other. They all looked like Saitama had personally spit on each and every one of them.
He had only ever spit on his father once.
“What took you such time, Saitama?” said father drawled, taking him in with less excitement than he would a fly.
“You walked here together? How scandalous – Mumen, haven’t we taught you better?” Mumen’s mother sneered.
“I’m sorry, mother”, Mumen mumbled.
They were all transported to the chapel, a far too gloomy building just outside of town. They got in position, the priest at the altar, facing Saitama and Mumen, and behind them the three family members at the front rows in the old and worn chapel. They were merely rehearsing, but the priest looked serious enough that Saitama almost sweated.
Saitama held a candle in one hand and fiddled with the ring inside his pocket with the other. He knew it by heart by now – the only real pretty thing he had seen lately, golden with jewels imbedded all around it. It would sparkle nicely in the otherwise dull chapel once he got to slide it onto Mumen’s finger. Although he was starting to believe that maybe Mumen’s smile shone brighter.
At least he was the only one not outraged with Saitama’s voice as he tried to do his vows.
“Have you no passion, boy?” the priest snapped, his palms hitting the table in front of him. “This is a marriage, not a funeral! Act your part!”
“Oh, really? I couldn’t tell”, Saitama answered dryly, and felt some satisfaction when Mumen had to hold back a laugh.
“Don’t try to act smart with me”, the old man’s voice echoed in the barren chapel,” We’ve been at it for several hours and still you sound bored when you say your vows. You will not be getting married until you sound like you want it!”
Would be easier if I had a say in this whole thing, Saitama thought.
“Saitama”, his father said and rose from his wooden bench,” how is it you keep disappointing me? How come you cannot even say a few words right for me?”
That lit and angry fire in Saitama’s belly, and he growled and dropped the unlit candle on the floor. It made a sad noise and broke in two as Saitama strode out of the chapel in quick steps. Voices called for him but he ignored them and slammed the doors after himself.
He simply needed to clear his mind. He would return soon enough.
Outside the chapel was a sparse forest with a trail moving crookedly around the trees. He walked along it as the sun set beneath the far off trees, casting long shadows along the ground. The fog was returning, rising from the ground in time with the dropping temperature. Saitama shivered – his suit was not meant for the outdoors.
“How dare they”, he muttered. He hadn’t done anything wrong – he got the vows right, but the priest didn’t seem to enjoy his voice. It was not Saitama’s fault he sounded the way he did, not his fault he couldn’t bring himself to sound happy.
Fallen leaves crunched beneath his feet as he kept walking. They were the same colors as Mumen’s eyes, and Saitama felt bad for leaving him in such a fashion, in a room full of rude people and high expectations.
And, ah, this sort of counted as leaving your husband on the altar? Saitama winced as he kept walking, ducking under a wiry branch. He wouldn’t do that to Mumen, who after all was the most pleasant surprise Saitama had ever encountered. Even when their odds were less than in their favor, he could already tell that Mumen was pleasant to be around, like someone who would make soup or tea with too much honey when you were sick.
He faltered, ready to turn around and go back, force out an apology to everyone and try again to get the vows the way the priest wanted him to.
“But I don’t know how to do that.” Sound more like he wanted it? It had nothing to do with his ability to keep the promises he made. Even while unexcited, he was honest. He would not break the vows, nor would he abandon Mumen’s trust.
The opening he found himself offered no aid to his dilemma. He stuck his hand in his pocket and fingered the jewel-ridden ring absent-mindedly.
“How do I sound more genuine than what I do naturally?” he mumbled, holding the ring up against the risen full moon. It shone, colors distorted by the blue light. “With this hand I will lift your sorrows.” He said, pretending that he was an actor in Hamlet.
He spun, a few leaves flying around him as he attempted the grimmest expression he could manage without giggling. “Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine.” No one could take this amount of over-acting seriously.
In one large motion, Saitama displayed his index finger to the trees around him, pretending that it was a candle. “With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring…”
He walked forward slowly. On the ground grew a rather sad looking sapling with thin, finger-like branches. He slid the ring onto that looked the most like a ring finger.
“… I ask you to be mine.”
He paused, then back a few steps, considering the golden ring on the little branch. The forest was still around him, no wind now animals to break the silence. Saitama huffed and looked away, smiling grimly. Yeah, he was absolutely done for. He’d ruin this marriage before it even started, because he couldn’t even say his vows genuinely.
Suddenly, a draft picked up, shuffling Saitama’s tie and suit. He heard something like someone stepping on a branch.
“Who’s there?” he asked into the nothingness, and the strange wind picked up. Perhaps it was time to leave. He turned to pick up the ring and found-
- That the hand-like sapling hand turned into a fist.
“Whoa”, he muttered, frozen in awe. In front of his eyes, the sapling’s wrist turned, and the fingers curled around a handful of dirt, as though they were trying to pull something up from… underneath.
Saitama leaned back as the ground around the sapling…. No, the hand, cracked open, and something began to rise from its spot in the ground. First, a hunched head full of pale hair, then a shoulder, a chest… another arm.
The figure heaved themself up, then their face rose to look at Saitama who had fallen gracelessly to the ground.
It was a man, dressed in ghostly white gowns, with pale eyes that seemed to burn right through him, and one skeletal arm, currently wearing Mumen’s ring. The moon illuminated his features and he seemed to glow like a spectral.
“Nope”, Saitama said and turned to run.
It felt like the forest itself tried to pull him back as he escaped. Branches hit his face and snagged on his suit, stones that he swore were not on the trail first now seemed to appear in front of him, and he stumbled forth as well as he could. Once, he actually fell and the mud scraped his palms. He glanced back and saw the being following, almost walking in slow motion yet keeping up with Saitama’s running.
He ran past the chapel and found himself panting on the bridge leading into town. He leaned against the boulders making up the (WORD) and frantically searched his mind for answers. Just what had happened? Was this the curse from leaving his to-be husband on the altar?
He took one final breath and straightened. He would have to go home, apologize for being away for so long (When had the moon risen so high?), and go straight to bed. Surely the being would be gone come sunrise.
He turned, and stood face to face with the man from the forest.
“I do”, whatever he was said.

So, we all know this guy. Ginger, kind of obnoxious, has a big mouth that he seems to mostly use for yelling and/or getting into trouble. And all of those things are true, yes. He’s very orange and fluffy. And he can be fairly annoying sometimes. Usually when he’s being a loud-mouthed, confrontational braggart. But! There is more to his character than what immediately meets the eye--he’s actually got some pretty good qualities once you look at him, rather than just how other characters react to him. One of the first things that comes to mind is something that, I think, most people take as a flaw: he isn’t willing to put up with Saitama and Genos’s bullshit. I know what you’re thinking: hey! How can it possibly be a good thing that this random-ass side character doesn’t like our protagonists? Because, to put it perfectly bluntly, they can be assholes sometimes. Charanko is, above all else, loyal to Bang. Doggedly loyal, even, to the point where he’ll defend him even after being treated pretty crappily (which I’ll get to later). He recognizes Bang’s strength, ability, and place in the martial arts world, and respects him for it. Genos and Saitama, however, have a tendency to be...less admiring, to say the least. Even in the man’s own dojo. And like any good pupil, Charanko endeavors to call them out on that when it happens (even if it earns him a swift rebuke), because even though Bang might not be as strong as Saitama, he still deserves a certain degree of respect. But aside from that, he’s also not willing to put up with their apathy. When Charanko hears about the recent attacks on other dojo, he feels it’s pertinent information for his teacher to know (since he, you know, owns a dojo himself). It’s a pretty important topic. People are getting attacked--hurt--and Saitama...just wants to know if there’s any cabbage. Charanko isn’t having that.
(Said conversation ends with Genos threatening to kill him. Over cabbage. Cabbage he didn’t know he needed to buy anyway, because no one told him Genos and Saitama would be there in the first place, and he’s not a god-damn mind reader.) Later, the Bad Road gang attacks. One would think that our heroes would see that their gracious host’s home is being attacked and spring into action, because they’re, you know, fucking heroes. Instead, they’re focused on their free food. (Even though said host isn’t even there at the moment. He’s out buying cabbage.) Charanko isn’t having that, either.
(Spoiler alert: the heroes don’t actually do anything until the bad guys almost drop him on their meal.) Obviously, there is no love lost between these three. And that brings me to my next few points. One: Charanko is loyal enough to Bang to put his dislike of Genos and Saitama aside; two: Charanko is more perceptive and self-aware than he seems; and three: he’s a pretty good kid under that noisy exterior. Garou, once Bang’s best disciple, expelled for going on a rampage that left Bang with only his worst and most disappointing student, returns. Bang, because he is not a functional and rational human being sometimes, decides that the best course of action to protect Charanko--instead of actually talking things out like a normal person--is to challenge him to a sparring match and then expel him (with a few pretty harsh insults thrown in) when he inevitably loses to a fucking Class-S hero. Charanko, being the good kid that he is, immediately knows that something isn’t right.
And he goes straight to some people he feels decidedly less than warm-and-fuzzy feelings towards for answers. In this moment, he doesn’t care that Saitama and Genos are disrespectful and that the latter threatened to kill him--he just knows that Bang considers those two friends (which, apparently, is something that Charanko himself is not), and they might know something or be able to help. And when he learns about Garou and that Bang only did what he did to protect him, we get:
...this. Despite Charanko’s general attitude, it’s shown time and again that he’s actually pretty self-aware when it comes to how weak he is. There’s even, like, an entire omake dedicated to it.
Charanko knows that he isn’t all that strong.
(As an aside: look at him saying he’ll pay the fee for the month even if he isn’t planning to stay. That’s integrity, there.) But I digress. I would wager to say that he is actually pretty painfully aware of the fact that he’s weak. Again and again he’s faced with enemies far above his level, and again and again he gets his ass kicked.
And I’d say it’s not for lack of trying, either.
He knows he got his “position” as Bang’s number one disciple as a fluke. Everyone else is gone, which means he’s the de facto top dog. But he also knows that he can’t just be complacent and accept it--he has to do the work to try and live up to his new title. And even though he knows he isn’t strong...
...he fights anyway. Maybe it’s courage. Maybe it’s plain old stupidity. Maybe it’s just that he feels the need to defend his beloved master no matter what. But he rushes headlong in regardless, like a noisy ginger Mumen Rider in a martial arts AU. And afterwards:
Again, Charanko doesn’t really like Saitama. Hell, the guy can barely even remember his name. He certainly doesn’t like that he’s visiting him in the hospital after his handy defeat by Garou. (And again, another acknowledgment that he’s not a strong fighter.) But he hears that Saitama has gotten an interest in martial arts, and even though he’s Saitama Brand(TM) rude to him (and Bang) when he suggests taking up Bang’s standing offer, he’s still a nice enough guy to want to help out. He’s got a ticket to the Super Fight Tournament, Saitama wants to learn some martial arts, Charanko himself is incapacitated and can’t go...he might as well, right? He didn’t have to give him the ticket. He did anyway. (It’s worth mentioning that Saitama remembers his name later, defending him against Sour Face’s claims that he’s weak. Trying to fight Garou--even if he lost--earned him Saitama’s respect...at least a little. As much as Saitama respects anything.) So, to recap: Charanko is a good and smart boy who adores his teacher and doesn’t take crap from anyone and will throw himself into impossible fights even though he knows he can’t win, because that’s just what people do. But then again, we have only seen him either outnumbered or faced with enemies far, far above his skill level...
The kid is ripped. He might be stronger than the narrative has let us see so far. I suppose only time will tell...
#OPM#One Punch Man#Charanko#long post#very long post#i should probably make a meta tag at some point#i just have very strong feelings about this sweet boy okay#yes i know he's 20 but he's a kiddo to me

I was tagged by @tatsuya-kiyama, thank yoooou! But honestly this is hard for me. Took me a half a day to think up my favourite anime. I don’t really have much really favourite characters, but here is a list of which I find interesting:
Top 10 favorite characters from ten different fandoms:
1) Kate Takenomiya from Prison School - This is an Ecchi, soft porn manga, but there is something in the story that attracts me to read it. It has awesome drawing skills, witty plot and hilarious story. Kate is mean, bitchy, but I guess that’s why I love her. My second favourite from the manga is Hana, by the way.
2) Adrien Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug - Adrien, who also known as Chat Noir, is the cute sunny boy whose many girls have a crush on him. But take away his wealth, status, good look, he has also have a good heart; someone who is willing to help anyone even an enemy (I think). Precious sunshine! I love to think that Chat Noir is Adrien’s true personality, who is free to do what he loves without the burden being Adrien Agreste.
3) Mumen Rider from One Punch Man - This guy earns my respect the most in the story. Mumen has no power, no ability, he is just a down-to-earth guy helping out people as much as he can, even when he knows he has no match against his opponent.
4) Flash from Justice League (animated) - I love this series, a lot. Most of the characters here are fleshed out really well. Some of my favs are Superman, Martian Manhunter, The Huntress, Black Canary. I even like some of the villains, notably Morgan Le Fey’s designs. In this animated series, Flash is portrayed as the most inexperience/immature of all the original member. But he is one guy you hardly hate, and gradually I come to like his cute dumb joke and innocence.
5) Celes from Final Fantasy (6) - Sometimes I like a character not because of his look or character, but because of his theme song. Celes’s has one of the best I’ve ever heard. If I remember correctly, Celes was a traitor at first, but in the end she was the one who gather the whole team back together.
6) N from Pokemon - N is the first character in the series I started to pay attention to. N is your innocent antagonist who has been used by the main villain, but later he is willing to open up his mind and accept different ideology, which he find it hard to do at first. I personally interpret N as an introvert who spent a lot of time on his own when he is little. Quite nerdy, but nevertheless, good hearted.
7) Godot from Phoenix Wright - I find that the prosecutors are much attractive compare to the attorneys in this series... Godot, which is the prosecutor in the 3rd game, has that “powerful” built which I like XD The ending for the game is also rather sad, you know :( I personally think Edgeworth is a more challenging opponent but overall I still prefer Godot. Oh I like Franziska and the Gavin brothers too.
8) Vash the Stampede from Trigun - Vash is the character you will actually look down in the first place. He is the worst womanizer, childish; he’s able to hide his extraordinary gun skills with his clumsy look. You’ll need to keep reading his story to gradually figure out more of his positiveness.
9) Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes - Travis is an Otaku whom you’ll never guess that he is actually a first rank assassin. Just this background of his makes me feel that he is one fascinating guy. I don’t really like this Travis x Silvia couple, it looks off to me, but I find it amusing watching Silvia flirts with Travis.
10) Osaka from Azumanga Daioh - Another manga full of characters with each of them have their own personality. Out of all I like Osaka the most. She has a really different mindset from others. If someone is going to invent a time machine, it’s gonna be Osaka--- (but she is not a bright student though...).
Whew, so here are the 10 characters I like. It takes time for me to actually love a character, so the top-10 list will always be changing. Anyway, I’ll be tagging @injured-bunny and @ozrockbitway
