I’ve thought about this for a long time and I think I’m going to get a reading journal rather than using goodreads… there are many reasons for this, but the main one is that getting goodreads makes the act of reading less personal for me (which it always has been). I also don’t want to get influenced by reading challenges and reading lists. I want to give every book a fair chance and to come to my own conclusions. And atm I think the best way to do that is just to have my own silly reading journal

#what I might do is I’ll probably supplement my reading journal w posts on here so that in a sense I also have a digital record of my books #just not a record that’s fraught w the pressure to rate books or partake in reading challenges or be influenced by other people’s reviews #bc I think i have been very good at gatekeeping my taste no matter how long I’ve had this blog for #i do admire people who don’t care for that and who use goodreads neutrally #but ik myself and it’s just not for me / would probably backfire #also whatever lessens my screen time in general I am honestly for lol #so a reading journal it is <3 we will see how this goes #p
