November Playlist

In no particular order, here are the 20 songs on my November playlist (with a few thoughts thrown in). Any song recommendations for me? Let me know!

WAVE - Limesoda

I found this song through mera’s video and fell in love right away. It has this sort of melancholic quality I really enjoy in gg music in particular, and the “no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-more” has been stuck in my head for weeks.

Bad Idea - Moonbin & Sanha

Now this is a proper sub-unit! The song is so good (let’s go funky guitar!), the styling was immaculate, and these two paired together really nicely. I wasn’t waiting for the rest of ASTRO to pop out any moment, and I never felt like Sanha or Moobin overpowered the other. 10/10 comeback (or is it a debut?).

Why Not? - LOONA

Why Not? is what I wanted So What to be. Especially the last section post-bridge, the instrumental develops a really nice momentum and a layered-quality that makes the emptier beginning of the song feel worth it. I have no clue what is going on in the LOONAverse but I like this musical direction for them. Plus Yves is hot.

We Lost the Summer - Tomorrow x Together

I found this pandemic song to be charming and genuine rather than empty. I’m not a high school student, but I do work with teenagers (and just graduated uni spring of 2020), so I could relate to this a lot. Plus I appreciate the dichotomy of the funky, summery instrumental and the lyrics.

I CAN’T STOP ME - Twice

I pretty much like every Twice title track, and this was no exception. I wish they had committed a little more to the retro aesthetic, and the denim outfits were personally offensive to me, but this song has nice energy and flows well from one section to another.

positions - Ariana Grande

I don’t particularly care for the lyrics or message of this song, but the melody is perfection and Ari’s voice is beautiful.

Kill V. Maim - Grimes

This song got me through the more stressful moments of the US presidential election. I found it from a WWX edit on twitter (if u know, u know...) and that makes the listening experience 10x better, ngl.

Grow - HOAX

I think I found this on Tik Tok? But the lyrics (”don’t you want to go outside?”) have felt relevant in my darker quarantine moments.

ALIEN - Lee Suhyun

Her voice is so, so lovely, and this song has that melancholy quality I won’t shut up about. I also really appreciate that this doesn’t sound like an AKMU reject and let’s her establish an identity as a soloist. I loved the styling and the MV, too!

BETTER - Twice

Twice’s earlier Japanese releases were major no’s for me, but everything from Breakthrough until now has been exactly to my taste. BETTER sometimes feels a little disjointed or rushed, but it has all the qualities of a Twice song I will enjoy, so...

Maze in the Mirror - Tomorrow by Together

This remains my favorite TXT song, so it’s pretty much always on my monthly playlists. I find this song to be soothing and easy to listen to but not without momentum (I am generally not a fan of slower or acoustic ballad-y songs). The more stripped-down production highlights the vocal blend of the members well, and I think the song builds to a satisfying conclusion.

Black Mamba - aespa

I was pleasantly surprised by this song! I think the girls’ vocals are nice and the chorus is satisfying, especially when paired with the visuals of the choreography or music video. I’m not super compelled by the whole avatar concept, but I’m excited to see where SM takes this group nonetheless.

So Bad - STAYC

I love this song. It took a few listens for me to get into it, but now I cannot stop singing the chorus. There’s nothing particularly revolutionary about this song or the concept, but it’s a pretty classic gg formula executed well.

Blue Hour - Tomorrow x Together

Okay I promise I didn’t realize how much TXT was on here until I started typing it out. More on this here.

How You Like That (Cover) - A.C.E

If you haven’t heard this cover, literally stop reading this and go listen to it right now. If there’s one thing A.C.E is gonna do, it’s sing. Donghun is one of my favorite vocalists in kpop (important video for reference), and the harmonies they hit in this cover...oof. HYLT is one of my least favorite Blackpink releases for a whole host of reasons (and this cover didn’t really do a lot to change my perspective on the original) but it is such a rare display of killer vocal technique and actual singing uncomplicated by choreography or complicated stage manoeuvres. This cover actually made me bust out the old YouTube to mp3 converter, that’s how good it was.

MAGO - Gfriend

They are hot, disco is fun, bury me in any of their stage outfits this comeback. Also Yuju on the pole???? hello???????

Blue Orangeade - Tomorrow by Together

This is just embarrassing at this point. This song is pure serotonin tho and let’s be honest...we need it.

Sorry Mama - DKB

This is an early 2020 release I only recently stumbled upon. The MV is perfectly passable, and the chorus lyrics do feel a little silly, but the juxtaposition of whoever is singing the backing vocals and the tense, almost growled delivery by DKB’s members is great. This instrumental isn’t overly full, either.

Dis-ease - BTS

My favorite track from BTS’ most recent release, this song is a little like Why Not? in that the second half makes the first half worth it. I love BTS with all my heart but haven’t been compelled by a lot of their recent stuff; this song was a pleasant surprise upon first listen and has only grown on me since then.

BTS: Jimin, no doubt, I was impressed by everything of him and was also the first face that I recognized everywhere.

Rv: Seulgi, seriously she’s such an underapreciated dancer between all the female dancers in kpop.

2. who is your bias now?

BTS: Jin he simply stole my heart, his voice is my favorite between my already favorite 7 voices in the music industry. I better not start writing all my reasons to admire and love him because then this post will never end.

4. what’s your favourite mv?

BTS: WOAH THIS IS HARD. Aesthetically speaking then Blood Sweat & Tears, Black Swan, ON kmf and BS&T japanese version, but right now my ultimate favorite is Life Goes On mv because is so simply but at the same time stunning and original, and it was directed by our golden baby.

Rv: Peak A Boo. I love how the song is so cute but the video is about a bunch of sociopaths killing poor delivery guys in some strange cult because they’re bored.

5. if you could only listen to one of their songs for the rest of your life, which would it be?

BTS: Run 💜

6. who would you want to see them collab with?

I’d love to see both groups. At least some special stage with unities I already planned (wtf?): Seulgi & Jimin (done 💖), RM, Suga & Jungkook with Wendy, Jhope & V with Yeri & Joy, and the top visuals of kpop history Jin & Irene. Joy is army’s unofficial president, so I hope she does not faint.

Outside that, I’d love to see Suga collaborating with some of the western rappers he admires, such as Eminem, yup.

7. what (mv) concept do you want to see them do?

BTS: I’d like them to follow the BTS universe story a little more.

Rv: I have no idea, they’re the only girl group that have done EVERYTHING: Cute, scary, girl crush, summer, sophisticated, artsy. 90′s hip hop...

8. have you ever had a dream with any of the members in it?

BTS: I dreamed Jin was at one of my friends’ house for someone’s birthday or something, and we were eating the most disgusting pizza ever (cold and with supermarket sauce) but he was the only one not complaining and I remember thinking he was so nice he didn’t want to make the host feel bad. My brain is so lame.

Rv: I didn’t.

9. if you could spend a day with one member, who would it be and what would you do?

BTS: RM, i think is with whom I could talk the most since we share pretty similar intetests in many fields. Not much of some the modern “art” (HAMPARTE) he likes, but we could totally discuss it for hours it. Also I’d love to show him all the plants I have and some rap music from my country.

Rv: Seulgi (lol i’m so whipped). I don’t know, i would just ask her to marry me or something, she will just laugh say NO. Then I’ll buy her pringles and watch that Thai movie she likes.

10. which member do you think you would get along with best?

BTS: RM, Jin and Jungkook.

Rv: Joy and Yeri.

11. which member do you think you would argue with?

BTS: RM. Because he likes to talk about politics and religion and SAME, and these are the worst yet the best topics ever for a chat.

Rv: Irene 😂💕, and I’m taller than her so i hope i don’t get too scared it would look ridiculous.

12. if you had to let one member scroll through your tumblr, who would it be?

BTS: Jungkook because he would just laugh of some shitposts and not judge me lol

Interviews: ● Gekirock interview:

Interviewer(Yoshiba Saori): In our previous interview you had mentioned a birthday song you were in the process of writing, so that turned out to be ‘VIVA! Happy Birthday' I see.

Sekihan: That’s right. After tinkering and revising with twists and turns along the way, we finally arrived at the 'VIVA! Happy Birthday' you see today.

It’s a proper birthday song yet... I couldn’t help but notice the sheer amount of references to The Drifters, “It’s 8 o’clock-o! Gather ‘round!” among many (Laughing).

Sekihan: Good eye.

Poniki: Please stop praising him before it goes to his head.

Sekihan: That wasn’t exactly praise though.

mao: Did you catch most of the references we stuffed in?

Interviewer: They’re of my generation so yes.

Sekihan: The title even was once “Happy Birthday-o! Gather ‘Round” but it was just a The Drifters song at that point so... I changed the title to be “VIVA! Happy Birthday”, while still leaving everything else pretty much the same. Did you notice the Mustache-Dance-esque part in the middle too? As soon as we settled on using The Drifters for our motifs, this idea popped into our heads. ＊The Mustache-Dance. They say “後半まいりましょ後半しゅっぱつ” just like Viva! Happy Birthday.

Interviewer: As the composer, 324, what did you have in mind for this song?

324: At first I steered to make it absolutely bursting with joyous energy. As we said, the song took on a lot of gear changes along the way, so naturally my initial product was a little different from the current one. Mine was more-

mao: Edgy and emo. It was emotional music.

Interviewer: At the chorus the rhythm had been slowed down by half; a mellooow song one could easily crowd surf to. If I recall correctly, didn’t we suggest the theme to be about the birth of life? About ‘Traversing the birth canal’ and what not.

Interviewer: At the studio we had considered that a possibility, but eventually we came to our senses and said ‘Wait, no this isn’t right!’

324: That theme was a bit too heavy so we chose to lighten it.

Sekihan: Simplified and rectified, birthdays are happy go lucky celebratory events so all we’ve gotta do is have a good time. With that said, we didn’t want to make a run-of-the-mill party song either, we were in a pickle. Then came the idea: everyone gathering around = The Drifters. I watched videos of The Drifters the whole time I was writing.

 mao: After eliminating the unnecessary Drifters bits, we have what you see today.

 324: It was too far down Drifters lane at first. I had to intervene. 

Interviewer: You get lost in the swing of it huh (laughing).

Sekihan: I love-love the qualities of the Shouwa era. On our main site we recently uploaded the MV for “HAPPY GO LUCK HEADS”, in which ‘The Veteran’ appears at the beginning, I tried to dress myself up as Kuroyanagi Tetsuko for that. Interviewer: The almost fairy-tale ending of ‘VIVA! Happy Birthday’ even leaves a Drifters taste in my mouth. I see Nakanishi Kousuke assisted with the writing of this song, then also ‘Ebifuri-ya’ and ‘WA ni natte tomo ni’. Could you tell me more about him?  

Ponikingdom: He’s practically our hidden 6th member, or so the people say. He once even produced a song for my own album. Herein 324 writes aaall the music, so we wanted the essence of someone different here and there. We make a good team to boot. He understands our aesthetic to a T.

Mito-juu: He makes them exactly as ordered.

 Sekihan: It’s not about musical ability, but aesthetical ability (laughin).

324 So there you have it. He made the music, then I arranged it to make it perfectly Happy Go Lucky Heads.

　● 324 blog: 324 exhibited how to play the lead guitar part of the intro! He said “Watching this, I notice that this weirdo actually uses the middle finger of his left hand a lot.... That’s uncommon alright. @ Pon-chan - If I ever die, please use this as reference and take over my role as lead.”

● Poniki’s explanation: It’s a good ol’ birthday song with a catch; it’s in Omedeta style and bound to remind you of a certain classic show about the rich! Every day of the year is somebody’s birthday. We filled this song with wishes for that somebody’s special day! It’s even already becoming a hit among birthday peeps in the crowds at concerts!

tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?

for seventeen, it was clap. the synchronization, even when they made a mistake, was really impressive to me. i started binge-watching their dance videos and i just remember being at awe at how a lot of people (considering they’re 13) could be in sync like that.

for nct, it was kick it. i used to say i didn’t like the song, but it won’t get out of my head. i’m not sure what keeps me attracted to them as a group. i just am. also, haechan is the love of my life. i’ve never loved an idol the way i loved him.

for ateez, it was wonderland. good lord, i just love that song. the mv, the vibe it gives off, the aesthetics during that era. makes me want to start a revolution.

i didn’t have a dull childhood or something. i just don’t have specific memory that i could consider my favorite. but if there was anything i was fond of, as a kid, it was being innocent and not worrying too much about anything. i miss that and i wish i could go back.

2. if you could travel anywhere in the world with just a snap of your fingers, where would you go and why?

the museum where van gogh’s starry night is stored. i want to visit it in the middle of the night when there’s no one else there. i just want to stare at it and appreciate it.

unbowed. unbent. unbroken. haha, kidding. impulsive, unpredictable, and...confusing i guess?

4. what is your favorite thing that you have ever read? (anything you’ve ever read counts! fanfiction, poems, novels etc.) why?

i don’t really have a favorite :(

5. are you the studying type of person or the type to just ‘wing it’ when you have a big test coming up?

i’m not really the type who studies regularly but i don’t walk into the exam room without reading at all. i read and study a few days before the exam, try to get as much information as possible.

6. between bold colors and pastel colors, which do you prefer?

i’d rather go with pastels in the day and bold neons at night.

7. do you live life in the moment or do you plan every action you take?

a bit of both depending on the situation. i’m the type who plans ahead on things that i really want to happen but i have my fair share of spontaneous, impulsive decisions that lead up to really fun experiences. but when it comes to life in general? i’m just taking in every day as it comes.

8. what is your favorite holiday and why? (all holidays count! across all religions and cultures 😄)

christmas. the weather is cool and everyone’s a bit kind during that time of the year. and it leads up to new year.

9. would you rather stay up to stargaze in the middle of the night or wake up early to watch the sunrise?

i can’t see stars even with glasses on because my eyes suck. so i guess, i’d rather watch the sunrise because that obnoxious ball of bright yellow light is so hard to miss. plus i like how the surroundings change colors as the night changes into day.

blue on a brunette? i know it’s rare but it’s such a beautiful mix.

suga showing why he owns the kpop industry again. its not an everyday listen for me, but that doesn’t take away from its quality. its probably making it into my emo boi hours rotation. i liked the little reference to home. the tone shift at the end got me SHOOKETH tho like DAMN FUCK ME UP

fuck yall i really want an instrumental version of this song because honestly it sounds so beautiful? or maybe an instrumental version of the mv version bc jesus i love this backing. otherwise, its not really for me. i can see myself getting tired of this song really easily, and sometimes it feels like it drags on for too long.

ok i know this latin inspired sound is really in right now and its everywhere but DAMN it sounds so good here. jimin sounds so freaking good with this type of seductive sound and it just fits him so freaking well??? also i really like the message of this song? i think this type of genre really adds to the desperation for attention its trying to convey. top tier song easily one of my favorites of this album

Oneus Twilight full comeback review

When I say full comeback review it’s because it’s a FULL comeback review. From the concept films to the Japanese verison, were gonna cover a lot so get a cup of something to drink cause this will be hella long aka Bible (I’m a nice person I’m telling you this beforehand).(You should do a Youtube video review then… nya… BORING)

So let’s begin. This is not the first time I follow a group comeback in real time… You know… Checking everyday the performances, so I kinda know how it works. We have gone through a lot of stuff… KARD You in Me, GFriend Fingertip, Red Velvet Peak a Boo, Dreamcacther as whole, BTS Fake Love, F(x) Dracula, BTS Wings album as a whole and last but far from least BTS Blood Sweat and Tears. I wouldn’t call some of them dark concept, I also wouldn’t call some of the sexy concept. By these examples you can see I have my standards pretty high. I’m that annoying perfectionist old uncle and declare myself guilty. For years Blood Sweat and Tears was the top song for me. (I’m a sane person ok… That doesn’t mean I listen to it 24/7). The MV had very beautiful aesthetics and I liked the lyrics and the song. Clothes were cool and the coreography too. F(x) Dracula would come in second and I never thought something could also join these two. Until… It happened. I knew RBW was releasing a new group but I just waited. Turns out I found out the group some months later then the actual debut. Oneus debuted with Valkyrie. The way they changed the coreography every stage, the amazing fashion sense, song was good quality. They had vocal thecnique, they had dancing it caught my attention and Valkyrie was straight to my playlist. Then… it happened. The group’s first comeback. I don’t know how, when or even who am I but I found out about the comeback EXACTLY AT THE RIGHT TIME (Technically not because I was 16 hours late). I know you know we know, we are not going retro like 80’s or 90’s. We are not going retro like acient Corea like BTS Idol. We are going retro 1500/1700 not Japan, not China, not Corea, EUROPE. Welcome to the renaissance. The MV was shot in Italy, the amazing fashion sense strikes again (I swear to God stylist min is communicating with me), the song, the lyrics, the coreography, the cool colored camera filters, I need to mention the vocal technique again, the rest of the album being consistently good (BingBing), I dare say nothing is perfect… But man… This gets 99,99% of what I call perfection. It’s a shame they didn’t win any music show… Because they are a newer group and still don’t have a large fandom? WHO CARES. Let me tell you something BTS sucess should have been in 2017 Wings… The high point of their artistity… Ateez was also a newer group AND THEY DID WIN. I give congratulations to them but Oneus needed to win and it had to be with Twilight nothing changes my mind. (Don’t come to me saying we can give them their win next comeback, it won’t do it) This type of thing only happens once in a lifetime, why? Repeat and it gets boring, they can do the same concept again but it won’t be the same, same for BTS wings. It’s not about quantity is quality. Veiws never mattered to me and now I can say with all my mighty that wins do not make art. (I was never a fan of streaming but you count my ass off this mess cause YES I did some small streaming of the MV, I did my homework) (Take in account they did this comeback with BLOOD IN THEIR EYES) (Please give Dreamcather and KARD their first win too. Did you know that with You and I Dreamcatcher also had comeback with blood in their eyes??). Let’s start with the song name… Twilight. Remember 2009 movie sensation Twilight? Yup that’s it… I know you know we know, we are going deep in the vampire/ werewolf style in here and why I said I know you know we know? Xion posted about it on Twitter…

Song, yes. Lyrics, yes, coreo yes, key point of coreo YES, Keonhee vocals YES (I trust this legend vocal thecnique more then I trust myself). Aesthetics? YES. Italy? Twilight is basically Seoho eating up all the line AND center distribution and detail... the only thing he does is SING THE CHORUS. Also thanks Keone Madrid for making this coreo for Oneus (he also did BTS Blood Sweat and Tears - DO YOU SEE THE PATTERN). Also rumors that Oneus actually created about 40-50% of the coreo so also thank you Oneus hehe.

Bitch it's me we are taking about do you really think I would miss a possible plotline?? Xion is with a red diamond and later he breaks it into dust (I'm scared). Keonhee is with a ring. Ravn is looking at his own reflection in the water and Seoho is looking at his own reflection through a broken mirror. Woongie is with a necklace. I guess the high point in Leedo's individual shots is the wolf (question mark)... Woongie and Keonhee are the only members that change the eye color. Seoho and Woongie are the only members that simulate super powers (question mark). Summary they all lost someone.... Silence is also a way of communication... I'm not a huge fan of theories or the fanfics I know ya'll write later in wattpad but fell yourself served, you're welcome, no need to thank me.

Humanity mystery here. They recorded a version of the coreography when the sun was actually falling down in real life and we see those scenes in the MV. But if the whole staff was SHOCK about the key part of the coreography being extremely perfect and beautiful then why not use it on the MV? Sure the version they used outdoors was pretty too but this was ALSO awesome and I think I need as many version of the MV as I can.

Intro - What can I say... it fells so chill out, kinda minimalistic I just loved it. Twilight - Just amazing... I liked the dumbstep, the music is confusing witch I find extreamly cool. English Girl - Let em tell you not my type of song... but the lyrics are extreamly funny and relatable... so I forgive (I’m waiting crazy ho now Oneus, do not disappoint me) BingBing- YOU DON'T FREAKING START A SONG IN FRENCH IF NOT AIMING FOR TITTLE TRACK LEVEL. Ok and can we talk about the coreography???? BEAUTIFUL and I want to know the mastermind behind it. I just don't know why this was not above English Girl on the tracklist... White Night - Ok a more slow song but as always Oneus always delivers. (low key Red Thread sequel??) Now - This gives me Calvin Harris vibes. More dance eletronic standard pop but it's good...

Please give Seoho something that WILL NOT FALL FROM HIS SHOULDERS cause clothes are made to be comfortable. What is the point to take off the jackets when the night is COLDER??? (Wait.. let me answer that one… cause you can’t see black in black… I get it… BUT REGARDLESS) one of the mysteries we’ll never know. (Poor ties must have suffered a lot in the middle of the harnesses)

Now before we jump into the important stuff let me tell you a secret… Keonhee is the most difficult member to dress… why? He’s 1,81 cm tall… anything you give him to wear can make him look even taller and his face is more projected (did you know he uses braces?) so you really need to pay attention to his hair. We’ll use this information latter.

So the first performance ever was… Guess what… Before the MV was released and where? JAPAN (My half japanese ass is shaking). So people there kinda received a spoiler (clothes too) and Mnet uploaded it in the same day of the MV release so other people that weren’t at the kcon wouldn’t receive a spoiler. No complains here except Ravn chocker being TOO BIG and Keonhee clothes making him look taller. (Nice expensive microphones you got in here)

First of all I’m really mad because they cutted the song. Second I’m really mad because they didn’t upload on YouTube. It’s seems like this is was pre calculated beucase it was EXACTLY WHEN THEY CHANGED THE COREOGRAPHY. Oneus first photobook in Milano was announced. I won’t go into detail cause this is not the goal here... but we get it... YOU WEREN’T JOKING AROUND IN ITALY. Usually it takes a lot of time for a group to come up with a photobook so I’m proud and that was pretty smartass way to finish promotions if I may say...

Now… you have seen me against the yellow light for the whole post and you must be asking yourself WHY? Well… when you have the work to color correct the entire MV to cool colors YOU MUST AS WELL DO IT ON THE PERFORMANCES… that’s it… it’s called color pallet and you should respect it. Or in other cases like when they used black and gold respect the color palette of the specific performance.

Now let’s go to 05/07/19 Oneus is a newer group so I wasn’t even dreaming about this cause again... It takes a while for this to happened. My spider senses told me something was off when they announced they would be attending breakout in Japan and SURPRISE. Twilight japanese version was announced. Versions A/B/C and CD+DVD. Some questions were raised. There will be another version of the MV and new clothes? If yes I WANT SOMETHING ON THE SAME LEVEL. Will there be a instrumental version? Will they put Valkyrie japanese version too? They would all be answered later... AND MORE. They had the audacity to show BingBing complete coreo for the first time. They must really love Japan. Legends also say that they already performed the japanese version in this festival.

I was getting uneasy with the release date coming closer and no photos of the covers of the CD’s... then 25/07 they released a schedule... I wasn’t really expecting a schedule but I was happy cause next day we would have a teaser of the MV and surprise, it was basiclly the same thing. Good because is quality stuff but bad cause I was waiting somehing new... 29/07/19 We got tracklist and GUESS WHO WAS THERE?? EXACTLY, VALKYRIE JAPANESE VERSION +++++ TWO new songs.... We are blessed.. until 30/07/19 where we got what actually was happening...

07/08 The MV was released. They don’t have official youtube chanel so they uploaded in the company that represents them in japan.

The major changes were the individual shots as they had to sing in japanese. Nothing to complain in here, their pronunciation was good but the lyrics timing didn’t seem to match the song. Valkyrie had a better japanese version then Twilight... I loved the two new songs we got too.

Also, can we appreciate how well Oneus and Twilight was received in Japan? They went to national television, topped Oricon AND Billboard Japan. Tower Records was EMPTY on the first day and they promoted for almost a whole month with shows. Japan basically adoped Oneus.

But nothing is flowers. It’s was extreamly difficult to buy this single online outside japan.LET ME TELL YOU. CD japan? Nothing, Amazon japan? Nothing, Yahoo Japan? Nothing. Rakuten? Nothing, YesAsia? NOTHING. THE ONLY PLACE I COULD FIND TO BUY THIS ONLINE IS TOWER RECORDS OFFICIAL WEBSITE WITCH GUESS WHAT IT IS IN JAPANESE. I tought I could rest BUT NOT. They would attend Soribada Music Awards... THEIR FIRST AWARD SHOW. Look I love Valkyrie... but I want Twilight to be performed and I WANT FASHION OK. I’m full of expetations, do not disappoint me Oneus. The day of the award show came and well... I was actually disappointed. Simple suits and the performance clothes? They repeated one of the worst weapons in their closets. C’mon... if you are going to repeat you have better choices IT’S NO EXCUSE... that’s the summary...

Well, from now I have covered everything... Don’t sleep in Keonhee vocals, Oneus has TWO MAIN VOCALS, appreciate Woongie vocals, that’s it.

Same. ;w;I do think P3D is solid, and at least matches the visual theme/aesthetic of P3D (aka the techno theme). But…..I mean….P4D was disco….and they didn’t rely only on disco…. They had jazz, swing, pop, dance, rock, hard rock. P4D had a very big selection of different genres, both with it’s base and with it’s remixes, it helped that it drew A LOT on the P4 Reincarnation OST.

P3D DIDN’T draw on the Reincarnation OST tbh, it took two songs. When Moon Reaches To the Stars, and Burn My Dread (former isn’t really too different to the original game’s OST except it has more lyrics, and the full ver of BMD was first featured on the Reincarnation OST). Tbh those are the two songs that are the least Reincarnate-a-fied out of either P3′s or P4′s OST, and the Reincarnation has SOOOOOO many great songs to offer for P3D, and it really changes up the genre of each song compared to how it is in the original game. Like, I really do like Junpei’s Deep Breath remix song in P3D, but I’d drop it in a heart beat for my fun boppin little love song ver on the Reincarnation Album:

But you know what would’ve been fun? And it’s a dance I think Junpei could’ve pulled it off, I mean it def fits P4D’s aesthetic (aka the disco aesthetic), but Junpei was the first one to emanate this. And it’s this funky fresh remix of Want to be Close:

Like why aren’t these in here? Like the remixes are fine, I actually really like them tbh (both as songs in general, and the fact they really got the beat down while I was playing, it really pulled me in) but these should also be in here (esp since P3/5D have less base songs than P4D, and like 4/5 less songs that aren’t MVs/are the characters actually dancing). Plus they also have PQ, Arena/Ultimax, the stage plays, the movies, EVEN THE PACHINKO MACHINE HAD AN ORIGINAL SONG! P3 had all these places to pull music from and it didn’t. ;w;

I also don’t understand why…..Burn My Dread is the last song…..I think the Last Battle Mix would’ve been better, or really just a remix of the song, I mean….P4D had a remix of it’s iconic song so you’d think P3D of their’s…..

Heck, ending on the Reincarnation remix of Memories of You would been good too (or even just a side song), it would’ve worked great as a interpretative dance too boot (just added this part but I guess there’s a limit to how many videos you can add 8U)!:

They could’ve done a dual mix of Memories of You, with Yumi and the PTS version (aka the male singer who did P3P’s opening, Shuhei), and make it seem like the two singers are singing at each other. Actually that would’ve been a great bonus song, esp if it involved Minato/Makoto and FeMC dancing at the Seal (with Yumi representing FeMC, and Shuhei for Minato). Ok like P3D still had more variety in it’s OST than P5D, I’ll give it that. But there could’ve been more, there SHOULD’VE been more.

Also like what were they thinking of for Aigis’ dances? Like I like the dances, they’re fine…..BUT WHAT THE FUDGE WHERE THEY THINKING? YOU HAVE A GD ROBOT! UTILIZE THAT! LIKE NO, THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO THAT AND THEY DIDN’T. THEY JUST AIRPLANE ARM’S HER THE WHOLE TIME! No no no, where’s the Mr Robot Dance moves? Why isn’t she the one dancing to the dubstep/techno stuff? I get the dancer could only do so much but oh my god there are people that specialize in these dance moves! Like I c’mon I was expecting AT LEAST ONE SONG/DANCE TO BE LIKE THIS:

But no instead Junpei is the one that gets these types of songs? Like he does a good job but…..c’mon ;w;

P5D? The only remixed I really like was…..I think the Twins….Anne’s Rivers Remix did get me on beat like the P3D ones but I didn’t really like it. When it came to the P5D remixes I thought they were either “fine for the most part but overstayed their welcome and made the song go on longer than it should’ve” (how I felt about the Wake Up Remix), or they were “good when they weren’t resembling their base song” (and by that point they could’ve/should’ve been original songs, the original beat was wasted as a remix). I was really pulling for these remixes too tbh.

I also think they misused a lot of the music with the dances. Anne, Haru, and Ren are pretty good dancers….the songs they chose for them SUCK ASS tho. Anne is a sexy dancer, and would thrive with either some sexy song (that Persona does not have so, crap can’t use that), or a pure pop song (something like in American pop, or P3/4, which P5 has zilch of any of those in it’s OST). Haru is a great ballet dancer, and while i think she makes her songs work the most, she’d benefit so much more from Yukiko’s songs imo, it’s really bring out her dances more (but P5 doesn’t have those songs either, except maybe Encounter: Lovers, but that’s not long enough). Ren, while I think the Wake Up Remix overstays it’s welcome, it’s so energetic and really fits him, but everything else I feel smother’s his talent. With the Last Surprise MV (ignoring the obvious problems of sexulizing the girls for now) it’s a good, well shot and danced to MV…..BUT WHY LAST SURPRISE???? Like with Anne’s base dancing, this MV is suppose to be sexy, it’s danced to sexy, it’s shot sexy….BUT LAST SURPRISE IS NOT A SEXY SONG! WE NEED AN ORIGINAL SONG! OR A SEXY REMIX OF ANOTHER SONG! WHY WASTE LAST SURPRISE?

And then there’s P5D’s final dance (and again I had a similar issue with P3D)…..Why not be like P4D and remix an iconic song? Wake up and Last Surprise (or even Life Will Change, tho that one worked great as an MV so let’s focus on the former two instead) are your most iconic! Remix them if you need to! They should be your final closing number!

Ahhhhhhh such a waste for both games, they deserve better. ;w;

That being said, for the OPs and Eds. I think P3D had the better one compared to P5D (I’d tie it with P4D, but I found P3D’s 2nd half a little lacking, and one line made me face palm….which isn’t as bad as P5D’s which made me throw my head threw a wall out of embarrassment XP). But I think P5D had the best ending song out of the 3, but on the other hand it doesn’t sound like and ending song and is wasted as one (it would be a perfect alt night theme). It was also wasted as an MV song, it has fresh music to offer P5D and they won’t have anyone dance to it. ;w; Ngl I don’t remember P3D’s ending song, it wasn’t bad, but for now I gotta rank it lower than P4D’s since I can’t remember it. XD ;w;

Hello!! So, I've recently taken an interest in ASTRO? And I was wondering if y'all knew of any performances/comeback stages/ whatever that would be good to watch to get a good feel of the group? You know? Lol, anyway, thank you for your time!!

i legitimately got so excited when i saw this ask bc one of my favorite things abt astro is their live stages and i have an entire playlist of my favorite live stages (from all my groups) so i’m hype to rec some for you!! literally any astro performance is good, they have such an incredible energy on stage and unique stage presence that they blow me away in every single one. i’ll go from debut up through crazy sexy cool [under the cut]

cat’s eye

- quick breakdown of this song, it was like their predebut debut; it was the featured song in their predebut webdrama ‘to be continued’, and so the mv was released before they debuted

- mv - show champion live stage (cat’s eye + their other Fantastic Song polaris) (polaris is the origin of eunwoo’s iconic ‘gachi gallae?’)

hide & seek

- okay so now we’re officially at debut; their concept for their first four mini albums was to make one for every season, and hide & seek is the title track of the first one, spring up; also has the Most Iconic astro dance move imo (the lil pyramid thing they do @ the beginning w bin on top)

- performance m/v - showchampion live stage (i’m partial to the green outfits whoops) - dance practice (always watch to the very end of astro dance practices)

- first comeback!! this mini album is titled summer vibes and features literally one of the most catchy astro songs ever i get it stuck in my head once a week; another Iconic astro dance move is born with eunwoo holding mj and moving him like a lil airplane

- dance practice - inkigayo live stage (the orange outfits were the cutest fight me) - special stage (they’re wearing cute animal hats what more could u want; also, skip to 2:15 for the actual performance)

- this isn’t astro’s song nor is it even all of astro lmao; it’s a rookie special stage of knk, snuper, and astro covering exo’s growl. the astro members that participated are rocky, moonbin, and sanha!!

- simply kpop (leather jackets lord have mercy) - dance practice - special dance practice (they goof off and they’re six entire dorks that i love so much) - relay dance - music bank (red!!suits!!) - mbc music (arohas are in the background making shapes and words with little white papers or smth its so cute!!)

run

- they also did full and short stages of this upbeat ballad (is that even a thing) from dream part 02 and its real cute; vocalist rocky has returned to murder us all and jinjin gets to sing again (he’s rlly improved since the last time im proud of my sweet rap boy)

beautiful lady

- their third time on immortal songs 2 and this is by far my favorite its funny and well done and just some hq astro content

so that was my list of astro live stages that i hope will help you!! i’m sorry if its too much, i kinda went overboard bc i love pretty much each and every performance they do

i went back to look @ the original ask and i realized that u wanted just a few to get a feel of the group but instead i spent 1.5 hrs making an exhaustive list of quality astro live stages my bad my true trashy aroha self is showing again

Group: Wanna One

First Bias: Park Woojin! I liked him ever since he tried to be a leader for the group battle on Produce 101. I thought he was soft, but I. WAS. WRONG. Sexy baby? Oh my lady?!? Yep, he was just a bundle of surprises that kept attacking me. I didn’t expect it to happen during the beginning, but near the end of the show, I banked my whole heart on him getting into Wanna One.

Current Bias: Still Park Woojin! I think it’s hard to stray from a survival show bias, especially if you’ve liked them for the whole survival show? I’ve been through the whole experience with Woojin, so it’s hard to have my bias wrecker wreck my list that easily, haha. I think I typically stan softer boys, but Woojin makes me laugh every time! He keeps you on your toes… *cue him popping his stomach out on Knowing Bros*

Bias Wrecker: Hwang Minhyun? I’m a little unsure because I thought it was Jaehwan until Minhyun on Wanna One Go started attacking me out of nowhere. His laugh is charming, and he’s this weird mix of awkward and classy. Also I got real soft when he spoke Japanese with Sousuke?? Overall a great guy with a pretty voice.

Fave Song: Since I did one song from each NCT unit, I’ll do one song from each Wanna One album. From To Be One, it’s “Burn It Up” solely for rap line’s section starting with “we know how to live our life”. From Nothing Without You, it’s “I Wanna Have,” which is most likely my favorite Wanna One song ever. The vocals are wistful, and the short EDM bit doesn’t detract from the song, surprisingly. The keyboard and guitar and bells and all the beautiful sounds blend together so well. My favorite song from I Promise You is “I’ll Remember You”. I like the small key changes, overall OST feeling… It’s almost like I’m finishing a good movie. “I Promise You (Confession Version)” has the same effect.

Fave MV: “Beautiful,” and I’m never going to stop insisting that that era was a whole aesthetic. I like both the dance M/V and the movie version.

an EXCELLENT decision that i would recommend to all

i think the most important thing 2 know like straight off so that u don’t get confused is that there is essentially helbi 1.0 and helbi 2.0:

helbi 1.0 was (from left to right) yooyoung, yoonjo, ara, alice, lime and nara. they had 3 comebacks: venus (their debut, yoonjo was injured so couldn’t participate), what are you doing today and would you like some tea. they were pretty popular (think early aoa/apink) then bc they were essentially split between 2 different companies, pledis n fantagio, they were split up in 2014 and the pledis girls (yoonjo and ara) were removed while alice, yooyoung, nara n lime continued on under fantagio as hello venus

which gives us helbi 2.0 - (from left to right) lime, yeoreum, leader alice, yooyoung, seoyoung and nara! yeoreum n seoyoung were added by fantagio n then they came back w sticky sticky later in 2014 :)

i’m going to focus on helbi 2.0 bc they’re the girls you’ll be stanning now as hello venus but there r tonnes of helbi 1.0 videos out there: check out mtv diary, birth of venus, weekly idol n this channel for all of the world’s cutest baby yoonjo fancams)
