I really feel like there are some rights that you shouldn't be able to sign away, and that should include the right to sue a company if you're seriously harmed because they were negligent or like actively did something that could reasonably be expected to cause the results.
There's the whole case right now where an Uber driver ran a red light and t-boned a car and the Uber passengers were very seriously and permanently injured so they're trying to sue Uber, and Uber is saying they can't sue because the terms and conditions say you have to do binding arbitration instead, and the defense they're using is that they didn't agree to the terms and conditions because their daughter was the one who pushed the button to accept them.
And like, I honestly don't think that's a particularly good defense unless they can show that they routinely read the terms and conditions and refuse to use a service if the terms and conditions aren't satisfactory to them. Most people don't read the terms and conditions and won't decide to just never use Uber or Uber eats because there's an arbitration clause.
But they shouldn't have to use that defense. They should be able to say that the driver literally committed a crime which led directly to the injuries and this isn't something they should have reasonably expected to have happen. Regardless of terms and conditions they should be able to sue.
And there are situations where people should be able to sign away some rights when using a service to do things that can reasonably expected to involve danger. If you go bungee jumping, it's fair for the company to ask you to sign something saying that if in the course of bungee jumping you get hurt for reasons that they couldn't have reasonably predicted beyond the standard hazards of bungee jumping. If they show you how to properly fall and tell you to not flail around and have you repeat it back to them and show you that they understand, and then you jump and start flailing and end up hitting a rock, you could argue that you were flailing because it's scary to bungee jump and you panicked and they should have known that people might do that, but the company shouldn't be liable because you can reasonably expect bungee jumping to be scary no matter what the company does. But if you jump and the cord snaps because it's old and frayed and they're not regularly checking the cords to make sure they're in appropriate condition, they're being negligent and you should be able to sue. And if they push you so you fall without first attaching you to a cord, they committed a crime and you should be able to sue them.
If the Uber passengers had reached over and grabbed the wheel, or told the driver to run the light because they were in a hurry, they shouldn't be able to sue over that. Yes, there is an element of danger to being in a car, and crashes happen. But unless you want to argue that everyone in the world is exempt from any legal consequences if they harm someone in a car crash because the other people should have reasonably expected to be crashed into regardless of how safely they were driving, those people should be able to sue Uber regardless of what they signed.

Being Sued, Adrenochrome, and the Eclipse.
April 9th, 2024 3:08PM
So, a few days ago Schultz's ride came to pick him up for work, he opened Dunkin so it was very early in the morning, and the lady picking him up accidently drove over the edge of the driveway and crashed her car into a tree. She smashed out her back window, and had to call a tow truck to get her car out.
I slept through this whole interaction, but it was explained to me, and I found it quite humorous. Little did I know this event was going to open up a whole can of worms that I could have never seen coming.
It doesn't take long for news to travel down Dance Hall Rd, and it started when Patti posted asking why she had seen a cop and tow truck on the driveway early that morning. The story was told several times, and it finally got back to Am.
Am flips her fucking lid. Tells me I should be living alone, and that Robert and Schultz are essentially liabilities, and she's worried about being sued if they ever got hurt, or had their possessions damaged. I tried talking to her in messenger, but with Uncle in the chat too, it really didn't go anywhere. He agreed with her, and defended her, whilst admitting later that he had no idea what she wanted.
I went down to Uncle's house, where Am is living, and had a conversation with her. It was all about how if anything happened to Robert or Schultz then she could be held liable because it's on her land, and then started talking about how I was getting all this money and she was getting nothing. Which just isn't true, I'm not getting a lot of money from either of them, and what I do get just goes to bills.
She then shifted the conversation and started to talk about my morality, and beliefs. It kind of felt like a trap, but I did find out how deep her conspiracies go, and it's bad. Adrenochrome, kidnapping children, celebrities using it as a way to make themselves look younger. It's all bullshit.
As for the Robert and Schultz living with me, I was able to talk her down to them signing a contract that they would sue her at all, for any property of physical damage.
The Eclipse was also yesterday, and we all (Tasha, Robert, Schultz, and Wynter) had glasses and got to watch it. It was very interesting, and the change of lighting was very creepy. It made the outside look as if it was lighted as a horror movie is. Overall it was a very cool and memorable experience, and I got my first kiss under an eclipse!

Eddie was sulking. He had a bad day at work and his boyfriend was miles away without access to a phone.
He took a sip of his beer, lazily watching the news while bored out of his mind. Maybe subjecting himself to the horrors of the great outdoors would have been worth it after all, even with Robin’s no-sex rule.
He groaned when the phone rang, completely not in the mood to speak to anyone. But their voicemail box was broken, and on the very off chance it was Steve calling to say they were rained out, Eddie didn’t want to miss it.
He picked it up, uncaring for politeness,“Yeah?”
“Eddie? What kind of greeting is that?”
He perked up a little at the sound of Max’s voice. He could make an exception for her, “Sorry Red, crap day.”
“Sucks for you. Hey, um, is Steve there?"
“Nope, he swindled Robin into going camping with him. But he’ll be back Monday.”
"Of course he did," She sighed, voice shaky, “Just, uh, have him call me when he gets home, okay?”
Eddie frowned, alarms already ringing. She sounded weird, not just her usual trademarked annoyance, “Is everything okay down there?”
“Y-yeah. Totally fine.”
“Max, if this is some Upside Down shit-”
“It’s not! It’s…just me shit. And everyone else is gone.”
“What is me shit?” Eddie was getting a bad feeling in his stomach, “I hope you realize if something happened to you and I could have stopped it, I’ll be liable, and then Steve will be forced to kill me-”
“He would never kill you.” She laughed, weak and a little forced, “Seriously, you don’t have to worry, I’m basically fine. ”
“Well I’m not willing to test it. What’s going on?”
She took a deep breath, rallying before admitting the truth, “Ok, ok, um, my mom kinda got arrested?”
Eddie wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t that, “When the hell did that happen?”
“About a week ago? And we, uh, kinda got evicted?”
Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath before deciding that Susan Hargrove was going on his list of least favorite people.
Max was stilling talking, rushing in a way that Eddie wasn’t used to, “A-and I know you guys are far away, and I wouldn’t ask normally, really, and if you can’t come I get it, b-but Steve said if I ever needed anything to call and Johnathan took them all to that stupid computer summer camp and Jocye and Hopper are still on their honeymoon and…I-I don’t have anywhere else to go.”
“Where the hell have you been staying?”
She hesitated again, “In my mom’s car?”
Eddie was already on his feet, looking for his keys as he reassured her, “You did the right thing by calling, okay? I’m on my way, but you’re going to my uncle’s house, understand? You’re not going to spend another night in a car.”
“But-”
"But nothing. You’re going to go there, eat, sleep in a real bed, and we’ll leave in the morning. I’ll see you soon."
She agreed without much of a fight, hanging up with a quiet thank you. Behind all of his playfulness and eccentricities, Eddie could be pretty intimidating when needed to be.
He blared music the whole way there, realizing half way through that he was pushing twenty four hours without sleeping. But there were worse things than an impromptu fifteen hour drive to Hawkins in the middle of the night, even if he could barely keep his eyes open or feel his legs by the time he got there.
It was mid-day when he pulled into Wayne’s driveway, and he was not looking forward to doing it all over again. He used his spare key, forgoing a greeting at the sight of his uncle at the kitchen table, opting to profusely thank him instead.
“Where is she?” He asked, after about the fifth round of thanks.
“Asleep,” Wayne offered, “Kid tried to stay up all night waiting for you, but she went down around nine this morning.”
Good, that was good, it would give him some much needed time to sleep. He crashed on their couch, conking out almost instantly. All too soon he was being woken back up, something tickling his face. He wrinkled his nose, swatting at whatever was touching him, but it was persistent. He groaned as light filled his vision, blinking up at the ceiling. He turned, just in time to catch Max going to poke at his cheek again.
The kid looked like shit, like she hadn’t showered or slept in a week.
“Hi,” she said quietly, giving an awkward little wave, like they weren’t inches apart.
“Hi,” Eddie tried, for once feeling completely out of his element as they stared at each other.
The boys he could deal with, they were his own personal band of nerds. Even El was easier, with her straightforward curiosity and Eddie’s penance to talk anyone’s ear off was usually a match made in Heaven, but Max…Max was Steve’s territory.
His self-proclaimed adopted sister, a step ahead of everyone in conversation, quiet but witty, careful but brave, she’d always been a bit of a mystery to Eddie. She was so selective when it came to who she trusted, with him never fully being in or out of her circle of favorites, always on the periphery by his proximity to Steve, her favorite adult.
She was picking at the couch, avoiding Eddie’s eyes when she piped up, “Your uncle’s cool.”
“I know, right?” Eddie sat up, rubbing a hand over his face to wake up faster, “What time is it?”
“Five.”
Shit. They had to leave soon if they were going to get there before Steve, “You ready?”
She nodded, “As I ever will be.”
It was short work packing, she had her skateboard, her walkman, and a single duffle bag, stuffed full. Wayne and Eddie shared a look as they stuffed it all into the back, the scene way too familiar to Eddie’s own meager belongings when he came along.
They thanked Wayne again on the way out, Max even going as far as accepting a hug, bashful but too grateful to refuse. He pulled out of the driveway, sad to say goodbye to his uncle but more than happy to see Hawkins start to disappear in his rearview. No matter how many good memories he had there, how many wonderful people he’d met, something inside of him would always hate that shit hole.
Maybe it was because all the good parts could be taken out.
He glanced over at Max, not quite sure what to say. It was never just them before. Eddie was the one to break the silence first, per usual, “How the fuck did Mike convince El to go to a three month computer camp?"
It was probably the wrong question to ask considering the circumstances, but at least it made her laugh, a real one this time, "That's what I said! God, they’re worse now than when they were dating. They take the best friend thing way too seriously. Almost as bad as Robin and Steve.”
“Hey, rude!” Eddie whined, mock offended on Steve’s behalf, “True but still rude!”
Max laughed. She was picking at a loose thread on her jacket, still smiling a little,“I’m sorry you had to come all the way out here but…thank you for doing it.”
He shrugged, “There are worse things than a nice night drive.”
“I still appreciate it.”
“So…” he trailed off, hesitating before asking what needed to be asked, “Are you going to tell me what happened?"
Max sighed as she stared out the window, like she’d just been waiting for him to say it, “She…got caught for check fraud and identity theft, apparently for a lot of money. She doesn’t even know when her trial date is yet. I thought…” she hesitated, shaking her head, “I don’t know what I thought. I wasn’t thinking. I should have known something was up when things got better out of nowhere.”
“You’re not supposed to be thinking about shit like that. You’re seventeen.”
“Almost eighteen.”
Eddie rolled his eyes,“Oh, you got me. You’re right, everyone knows you get a copy of your parent’s tax records and W-2s and take over the family finances when you come of age ”
She snorted, eyes still staring out the window, but with the smallest hint of a smile on her face.
Eddie cleared his throat, still peeking at her through the corner of his eye, “I’m sorry that uh, Steve isn’t here.”
She shook her head, “No, I’m glad it was you. Since…y’know.”
Eddie nodded, oh too aware of what she meant. Things in Hawkins had gotten pretty fucked up for Steve near the end of their time there. After Steve's parent's found out about them, things had spread pretty fast, rumors finally being confirmed as fact, courtesy of Steve’s piece of shit sperm donor. He’d let the whole world know that he didn’t have a son, paired with a big old speech about parenteral-approved gay bashing. The backlash was even worse than Eddie had expected. Apparently the only thing that town hated then queer freaks was ex-straights.
It had been pretty fucking awful, worse yet that Will had to see it all. The only queer kid in a thirty mile radius had to bear witness to his gay role model being socially crucififed. The experience didn’t scream hopeful future in Indiana. Eddie was glad that he was going back to California for college, especially since he’d have El and Mike with him. Even if it was depressing the rugrats were splitting in two, Eddie was just happy none of them were staying in that hell hole.
Max was biting at her nails, a nervous habit he knew Steve used to bug her about.
“Do you think he’ll let me stay?”
Eddie laughed, “You should be more worried about if he’ll ever let you leave.”
“You think?”
“I’d bet money on it.”
The little smile was getting bigger, “How much?”
“Twenty says he’ll tear up and say something like, ‘Of course you can stay, for as long as you want,’” Eddie did his best emotional Steve voice, the adorable wobbly kind that melted everyone’s heart, loving how it made Max laugh, “Something sappy like that.”
“You’re on!” They shook on it, with Eddie only feeling slightly bad for setting her up on a nearly fixed bet.
It was a long fifteen hours, though Eddie was grateful that Max stayed awake with him the whole time, the drive was so much better with someone to talk to.
“I’m not going to let you be alone for this twice,” she insisted when Eddie asked if she was tired after her fifth yawn. They argued over radio stations and traded blackmailable stories about their friends the whole way home. Eddie’s eyes were bloodshot from exhaustion by the time they got there, Max looking just as bad, but it was worth it.
She was worth it.
She went straight to the couch when Eddie pushed the door open, already familiar with the layout of the place. She plopped down, face face first, almost immediately passing out, obviously still exhausted from her week of homeless hell.
Eddie was just covering her with a blanket when he heard the click of the lock being undone, Steve’s voice not far behind, “Baby, I’m home-”
He rounded the corner, all teasing smiles until his eyes landed on Max, his big eyes widening in shock.
He dragged his gaping boyfriend back into their room and told Steve the whole story, genuinely impressed with himself for not passing out during his speech. Steve forced him into bed at the end of it, kissing him soundly for taking such good care of her, sleep taking him easily.
Eddie woke up slowly, alone in their dark room. He didn’t know how long he slept for, but lord knows he had needed it. He wandered into the living, finding Steve and Max hugging on the couch, catching the tail end of their conversation.
“Of course you can stay, for as long as you want,” Steve was saying, all teary eyed.
Eddie didn’t miss the relieved smile on her face, like there was ever a chance he would have said no. She spotted him over Steve’s shoulder, flipping him off when he mouthed at her, ‘I win.’
“You realize I have no money right?” She whispered to him later that night, freshly showered and finally relaxed, “And I’m starting to think you cheated.”
Eddie laughed, “Manual labor until your debt is paid then. And…define cheating?”
“Whatever weird psychic thing you guys have going on, definitely cheating.”
“It’s called love, thank you very much,” Eddie smiled over at Steve, who was busying himself in the kitchen. He was making dinner, insisting that they both eat something before passing out again. He shooed away all attempts at helping, and for good reason, both of them still looked like sleep deprived nightmares.
It was a good night, all things considered, even if Max and Eddie were still only half awake for most of it. He didn’t really feel back to himself until the next morning, but that’s what driving for more than thirty hours in less than two days did to someone.
He kissed Steve’s hair before leaving him in bed, wandering to the balcony to light up a joint.
It wasn’t long before he could hear Max shuffling around behind him, dialing a number into the kitchen's phone, eavesdropping by way of proximity. Probably Lucas if he had to guess. He tried to zone out a bit, but couldn’t help listening in to the latter half of her conversation.
“Of course everything’s fine,” she lied easily into the receiver, “Nancy offered me an exclusive tour of the campus since I was abandoned by my boyfriend, and Steve and Eddie said I could stay at their place to quell the boredom. My mom’s fine with it.”
Pretty good lie, all things considered.
“Just send the letters here, tell El the same thing. They’ll just get lost at my house. You can call here too, I’ll probably stay through summer, but definitely home before you get back.”
Eddie looked over his shoulder, just able to make out the side of her face at the odd angle. She was smiling, a soft thing that Eddie recognized, the kind of smile that was meant for a singular person, “Then I guess you’ll just have to rewrite it won’t you?”
Eddie forced himself to zone out again, unwilling to listen in on the more intimate bits. It wasn’t long before he heard the click of the receiver and light footsteps strolling his way.
She came up behind him, plopping down next to him with a sigh, “Can I try that?”
Eddie glanced behind him, a little paranoid that Steve was about to catch him in the act of giving drugs to his favorite child, but relented when he couldn’t hear any sounds from their bedroom.
He passed it over, “Just don’t tell your mother.”
Max laughed as she took a hit, a bit too experienced with it in Eddie’s opinion, “What does that make you, the cool dad?”
“Obviously.”
They stared out into the horizon, the sun not quite up yet, but on the way.
“You’re not going to tell him?” Eddie finally asked when she passed it back.
She shook her head, “And rain on the nerd parade? I don’t think so. He's having the time of his life over there.”
“He’s gonna be pissed. They’re all going to be pissed.”
She shrugged, “It won’t be that bad. As long as I omit the car thing, it will be mild.”
They sat in silence, the comfortable kind for once, before she spoke up again, “Are you okay with me staying here?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
She shrugged, “Like…I know you don’t have much space. And I don’t even know for how long I’ll be here. Steve’s fine with it, because he’s Steve, but are you?”
Eddie ruffled her hair, a bit touched that she would even ask, “Of course I don’t mind you being here. We’ll make it work.”
And they did. They ran a curtain through half of their living room, making a makeshift space around Max’s favorite couch, so she could have some semblance of privacy.
It didn’t take long for Robin and Nancy to get involved either, especially since they had the actual two-bedroom apartment. Robin glommed onto Max particularly fast, and two made a chaotic duo of epic proportions.
They converted Nancy’s office, completely ignoring Max’s protests, and got her a real bed. She bounced between their apartments, always sure to be clear on where she was going to end up staying that night. It was stupid, but it still made Eddie preen that she choose their place more often than not. The summer went by fast, faster than Eddie would have ever thought while living with a teenager, but by the time August was coming to a close, there was no good news for Susan Hasgrove.
They still talked over the phone, usually just for Susan to guiltily admit terrible news while apologizing profusely. Susan ended up settling on a plea deal to avoid trial. Two years in prison, maybe less for good behavior, but there was no way she was getting out in time for Max to go back to Hawkins.
Eddie had to give her this, Susan was an absolute fuck up, but she loved her kid, loved her enough to basically beg Steve and Eddie to take her in until college. Like they would ever say no.
School was another matter, but thank Christ for Nancy Wheeler, the walking academic genius. She knew exactly what to do and what to say to the Emerson officials regarding Max’s senior year. She even garnered a deal to get her into an alternative program through the college rather than having to re-enroll in a new highschool. She had explained it all to Eddie once, early admission this, preferred treatment and financial aid that, but it kinda went in one ear and out the other, he was more than happy to just let he handle it.
With the official news, Max couldn’t hide it from the others for much longer, and eventually, they found out on their own. Apparently, they had all planned the opposite of a Welcome Home Party for Max, a Sorry We Left You All Summer For Dork Camp Party. They had a banner and everything, and even came back early to set up, right in the window of Max’s lie of being home, only to find her trailer occupied by a completely different family.
One angry phone call with El and a fifteen hour drive later, Eddie found his living room invaded by a wild pack of seventeen-year olds, all pissed as hell. Max was sandwiched between Lucas and El on the couch, the two more upset that she went through something so terrible without them than mad, while the rest stared up at her from the floor. Steve was settled in Eddie’s lap on their recliner, the two watching the whole exchange warily.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Dustin managed to ask over the incomprehensible noise of them all trying to talk at once, his insanely loud voice finally coming in handy.
Max rubbed a hand over her face, “Would you have left if I told you?”
“Of course!” El and Lucas said in unison, sharing a look like they couldn't believe she would even need to ask.
“Exactly! That was the problem!”
“But you could have stayed with my family!” Mike tried, “Nancy’s room is empty and-”
“And your dad literally hates all of us.”
“But what about us?” Will asked, “We don’t have that much space sure, but we could figure something out.”
“I know you would but I didn’t want- I don’t want…” Max trailed off, struggling to find the words.
"Pity," Eddie finished for her, "She doesn't want to be treated like a stray. And Joyce is a sweetheart, sure, but that’s definitely up her alley."
"And I won’t be here forever,” Max insisted, earnestly looking at Lucas, “Just until college starts, and then I’ll be in the dorms, like we planned."
“But…this is our last year together,” El was tearing up, which was enough to get the whole room to follow suit.
Max hugged her, apologetic but still firm, “I know, and I’m sorry El, really. I just…I don’t want to be in that town anymore. Not after everything. But I’ll call everyday! And write letters too, whatever you want.”
She sniffled, “Everyday?”
“Everyday.”
“And you can all come here to visit her, whenever you want,” Steve added, “Spring break, weekends, whenever.”
The offer was enough to calm them all down, even if there was a sad little air around them their whole visit. They all held Steve on his word though, and Eddie spent the next nine months eventually getting used to finding a gaggle of kids hanging around his apartment every other weekend, but they made it work.
Max missed them all the time, anyone could see that, but she still found a way to enjoy her new life. The adjustment from one absentee parent, to four obsessive ones was oddly smooth. Max was an intensely good kid underneath all that snark, smart as hell too. Eddie had been worried about her getting bored, separated from all the other rugrats, but she was adjustable. It helped when they bought her a guitar for her birthday, a new hobby with a built-in teacher to fill the time between studying, skateboarding, and hogging the phone.
Both he and Steve cried like the emotional idiots they were when they helped her move into her dorm later that year, but they couldn’t help it, the joke of them being parents had just solidified into a reality.
They probably embarrassed her to hell and back during the move, but she never let it show, shedding a few tears herself when the last box was brought up.
She hugged them both on the way out, asking “The good couch is still mine when I spend the night right?”
Steve wiped at his eyes while Eddie ruffled her hair, saying in unison, “Always.”

Thirty-percent chance of precipitation today.
The loud squeak of windshield wipers working their hardest proved the contrary, trying to keep up with the furious rain pounding your car. Weather forecasts were always full of shit, you’d probably have a better chance winning the lottery than them correctly predicting the weather.
Another crack of lightning lit up the obscured road, being trailed by a deafening roar of thunder that made your heart race. You’d never seen the skies so dark, so gloomy, so angry as if Mother Nature was enacting revenge on some poor soul.
Guided only by taillights it became harder to see much of anything, keeping your distance in between impatient cars. The right choice was made as cars sped by, splashing your windows and ruining visibility further as if they had forgotten they were on oil-slicked streets and not the Daytona 500.
You still had a good thirty minutes left to your place, normally no less than a five-minute drive in usual circumstances as the harsh storm showed no signs of letting up.
More lightning struck in the distance as the rain continued punishing the highway, thunder roaring enough to vibrate the windows, demanding its presence be known
“Thirty percent my ass,” you mumbled to yourself, cursing the idea of men and women in suits fabricating lies and getting paid to do so. You just hoped it didn’t hail, you would be home soon safe and sound with a cup of hot tea in your hands snuggled under the blankets.
The thunder grew louder, and you felt you were tempting fate at this point by continuing on, but consequences be damned, you felt no need to pull out.
Right before you were about to make your exit off the freeway, a stranded car caught your eye pulled off to the side of the road. The hood popped, blinkers flashing and you could barely make out the outline of someone waving desperately for help to anyone to no avail.
Traffic was light in this part of town, especially at night. Maybe it was too dark, maybe people didn’t care or both. You couldn’t just pass by without offering assistance, pulling behind them and shutting the engine off.
You grabbed your umbrella out of the backseat, pulled the hood of your jacket up over your head as you stepped out of the car. You were immediately bombarded by cold rain as you opened your umbrella as a shield to deflect it, heading towards the troubled car.
“Need any help?” you asked, as you approached the stranger, umbrella in hand. The owner of said car was a young woman, wearing a thin jacket that did little to protect from the rain, and you couldn’t tell if she had tears on her cheeks naturally or from the rain.
“Y-yes, thank you so much for stopping!” she said, suppressing a sniffle as you were able to clearly see her face, the rain doing its damndest to cover her beautiful features up.
“I-I don’t know anything about cars, it just stopped working. I tried to call for help but my battery died. I just filled the tank this morning, I don’t know what’s wrong with it.”
“I’m afraid I don’t know much either. Let’s get you out of the rain and I’ll see if I can call a mechanic.”
“T-thank you!” the woman graciously said, keeping your umbrella hovering over her head, trying to keep her from getting even more soaked.
“You must be freezing, I have a blanket in the backseat of my car if you don’t mind sitting in it.”
“N-not at all, thank you!” she said, as you led the way, opening up one of the back doors to allow her passage as she carefully stepped inside, taking a seat next to the window. You closed the door as the shivering woman wrapped herself in the thick blanket you kept back there for emergencies, heading behind the steering wheel and caught your first serious glance of the beautiful woman in the rear-view mirror.
Doing a quick search on your phone it took three different shops before any picked up, the result being unsatisfying.
“Are you doing okay?” you asked, as you looked over your shoulder at the beautiful stranger, her expression much more jubilant in nature now.
“Y-yes, thank you so much for saving me.”
“It was no problem. They said it would be at least an hour before they can send a tow truck to come pick up your car. They’re all backed up. I’m sure other places will be the same.“
“That’s understandable,” she said with an audible sigh.
“Is there somewhere I can take you?” you asked, vicious thunder rudely interrupting the conversation.
“Maybe we should wait out the storm?” she suggested, tilting her head to the side as you could see her nervous expression, her lips quivering.
“That’s not a bad idea.”
The woman sitting in your backseat flashed an innocent warm smile for the first time as a sense of relief overcame her, releasing a deep breath as she relaxed into the seat.
“It’s really coming down still. Would you mind keeping me company back here?” she shyly asked, patting the seat next to her. The rain crashed against the roof harshly, droplets sounding like a golf ball being slammed against the protective roof.
“Sure thing,” you said, crawling over the center console towards the back seat, smacking your head on the ceiling as you took the middle seat next to her.
“Are you okay?” she asked, giggling cutely as you rubbed the top of your head, checking for any bumps but the only thing hurt was your dignity.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
You fumbled in the dark, turning on the dome light to shatter the darkness as you both flinched, regretful that you didn’t give a warning beforehand.
“Sounds like you’re having a bad day,” you said, stating the obvious.
“You could say that,” she shyly said, her charming voice light and airy as she tucked strands of light blonde hair behind her ears.
“Thank you again.”
“Of course.”
“I was so worried when my car broke down, I didn’t know what to do,” she said, her arms still discernibly shivering.
“You’re safe now. Are you still cold? I can turn the heater on.”
She shook her head politely. “I think I just need to take this wet jacket off,” she said, removing it from her body as you took it from her, placing it on the empty seat next to you.
“That’s better.”
When she was in the right position you caught a glimpse of cleavage, but you tried not to stare.
The attractive blonde had on a simple white top underneath with a thin gold necklace that resembled more of a bra than a shirt as she adjusted the straps. Her pretty shoulders were exposed and didn’t have on more than a pair of jean shorts. It wasn’t that surprising why she was a bit chilly.
“You know...I’ve heard that huddling together is a good way to keep warm.”
“Is it?” you asked, feigning ignorance as you admired the color in her pupils.
“It’s worth a shot,” she replied, making her way over to your side as she climbed your lap. She left the blanket on the seat and avoided making the same mistake you did, clearly losing the height advantage you made it easier.
Her legs wrapped around your waist as you could feel the body heat rising already as she got comfortable.
“Is it helping?” you asked.
“I’m not sure yet,” she coyly said, pressing her body closer against yours, her breasts pressing against your chest.
“I’m feeling pretty warm myself now,” you said, looking into her gaze. She had the most beautiful eyes you had ever seen, just one look made you liable to get lost in them.
“I wouldn’t want you to overheat now…” she said, abruptly grabbing on the collar of your shirt and gently tugging on it, pulling it up and over your head as you lifted your arms to assist her.
“What about now?”
“I think I’m feeling much better.”
“Good,” she replied.
“You’re so pretty.”
She blushed, her cheeks helping warm the rest of her body. “Thank you. I think we can still do better,” she said, searching for the dome light and turning it off, leaving the car cloaked in almost complete darkness. Only scattered lightning strikes assisted in lighting up her features.
“What's your name?” you asked. She hesitated for a moment placing a hand on your shoulder and began tracing your bare chest with her fingertip.
Without saying another word she traced random patterns, moving from your neck down your abdomen, her touch tantalizing your senses. She moved back up to your chest as she formed the letter “J”, picking her finger up as she proceeded to write her name on your bare skin.
“...I”
“...S”
“...U”, she traced one more letter as you put them all together, her fingernail digging into your chest just enough to not cause any pain.
“...N”
“Your name is Jisun?”
“Yes.”
“That’s a pretty name.”
Her cheeks reddened again. ”Thank you. For everything. You’re really sweet.”
Jisun caught you by surprise, her small hands cupping your face as she leaned inward. The next fit of lighting struck perfectly, lighting up the back seat as her warm lips pressed up against yours, earning your first taste.
Her lips were impossibly soft, she tasted like a sweetened version of the rain, an addicting sample that you needed more of.
“Without you I’d still be stuck in the rain. Let me pay you back.”
“You don’t owe me anything, Jisun. You really don’t have to do anything.”
“But I want to. You’re my savior.”
You shook your head repeatedly. “I’m not, I would have done it for anybody.”
“I’m glad you did it for me then,” she said, kissing your lips again with more passion, more fire behind her gaze. “Let me do something for you. Anything, please?”
Her offer wasn’t necessary, but it would have been rude to refuse her generosity. You noticed at that moment you couldn’t tear your eyes away from her chest, even in the dim moonlight shining through.
“Can you take this top off?” you reluctantly asked, hoping you wouldn’t get a slap in the face in return.
“Of course. I meant anything,” she said without any delay, lifting her top up and over her head, flinging it behind her as it landed in the passenger seat. Her clothed breasts look so large and inviting, her skin soft and immaculate you just wanted to caress every inch of her.
Jisun didn’t waste time as your eyes roamed her body, dismounting your lap long enough to peel her jean shorts down her wide hips.
“Won’t need those anymore,” she smirked, leaving herself exposed in a cute set of white bra and panties. Her breasts were pushed up perfectly, and you didn’t know whether to stare at her surprisingly thick thighs or her bottomless cleavage.
“You have a really nice body, Jisun.”
Her charming eyes were intense and mesmerizing as she held her sweet gaze on you. “You can see more of it if you’d like.”
“Please,” you said, as soon as your syllable finished Jisun reached behind her back to unhook her bra, divesting it into the darkness as it landed on the rear dash, freeing her beautiful full breasts.
You grew speechless as you stared at Jisun’s newly exposed chest, her breasts such a perfect shape with beautiful cherry pink nipples, stiffening already either in part to the weather or her arousal, you didn’t care which.
“Can I touch you, Jisun?” you cautiously asked, instantly met with an approving nod.
“Please do.”
Not wasting a precious second you grabbed her hips, her skin warm to the touch and silky soft as you explored her body, touching her stomach and stopping just below her wonderful breasts, waiting for her blessing.
“Put your hands all over me,” she pleaded, the necessary invitation you craved as you cupped her warm breasts, delicious flesh in your fingertips as you felt the weight in your hands. Your pants tightened as you ran both thumbs over opposing pretty nipples.
Jisun moaned softly and closed her eyes for a second, trying to hide the desire in them.
“They’re sensitive,” she whined cutely, and you wanted to test that out as you pinched her nipples, rolling them between your fingers and sucked on the one closest to your mouth.
You felt Jisun’s hips buck as your lips latched on to the beautiful bud, applying firm pressure as you slurped gently on it, swirling your tongue around it and earning more beautiful moans that were drowned out by the still obnoxious thunderstorm.
Switching breasts you suckled them hungrily, devouring her tits and starving for more. Her wide eyes filled with pleasure as her nipples grew swollen and doused in saliva. You gave her sensitive tips a brief respite, licking in between her breasts, tasting the sweat that had formed which did little to quench your thirst as you kept your face buried in her cleavage.
You were content to stay there until the dawn broke, smothering yourself with her perfect breasts, but held back as you wanted to explore more of her body, kissing her collarbone and neck in several places, only to be met with more sensual moans.
More kisses, more places to touch, her deliciously soft skin being peppered with your lips, kissing wherever you could as you rested your hands on her back, keeping her small frame close to you.
You returned to her delicious lips, drinking in the intoxicating taste of Jisun as soft kisses grew more heated, hands wandering everywhere in the dark and desperate to touch naked flesh.
Jisun came up for air, gasping lightly as she angled her head into the crook of your neck, sucking on it with much fervor, living her lipstick stains on your flushed skin.
“I want you,” Jisun whispered seductively in your ear, nibbling on your lower earlobe while a hand found your crotch, cupping your bulge wantonly.
“I want you inside me,” she said, licking the side of your neck as her seductive gaze met yours, impossible to look away and you’d do anything she asked at that moment.
“I want you more,” you replied, kissing her breasts as she lifted herself off your lap just enough to slip her panties off, as you unbuttoned your pants, yanking them down to your ankles along with your boxers and you’ve never been so thankful to be freed of clothes.
Jisun took her place back on your naked lap, straddling you tightly as she grabbed your stiffening shaft, stroking you from base to tip slowly.
“Do you think anyone will see us?” she asked, running her slim fingers around your length with a delicate grip as you throbbed, another abrupt roar of thunder that startled you both as you caressed her cheek in reassurance.
“I wouldn’t care if they did,” you said, Jisun flashing a smile in agreement.
Jisun lined her inviting entrance with your shaft, carefully positioning herself and elevated her body. She took an audible deep breath as she pushed her hips down and sank down onto your cock, the tip penetrating her and sending a flood of pleasure as you both moaned together.
“F-fuck…”
Jisun leaned in as her hands wrapped around the nape of your neck, taking a second to adjust and began to take a ride on your stiff throbbing cock. One look in her sensual eyes heightened your arousal and her hips moved, stretching her out ever so gently.
The rain had finally calmed down, no longer causing alarm but now a calming presence, adding a beautiful soundtrack to what was happening in your steamy backseat. Jisun moved her naked body in a slow, precise rhythm, savoring every time your shaft left her pussy, anticipating the next stroke inside her.
Jisun was incredibly tight as was expected but not like this. Her pussy was so warm and wet, smothering your shaft as she impaled herself with half your length, taking in the pleasure one step at a time. With each ride she released a steady stream of erotic moans, her voice an orgasm in itself.
“You feel really good inside me,” she whispered in your ear, insisting on keeping her cute voice low as if she were your own personal sexual ASMR, every syllable of honey shooting tingles up your spine.
“Not as good as you feel around my cock,” you replied, placing your hands on her soft buttcheeks, squeezing the soft flesh she grew drunk with pleasure.
Jisun quickened her movements, taking more of you into her tight pussy as her wet lips gripped your cock tightly, demanding you stay inside her for as long as she wanted. She bounced her juicy ass on your crotch as your hands moved to the front of her torso, squeezing her breasts again as your shaft became covered in her slick juices.
“Suck my tits more,” she demanded, grabbing the back of your head and pressing her flawless breasts into your face, suffocating you with her delicious mounds. You stuck your tongue out and licked what warm skin you could, released from the confines of her flesh after several seconds as you took her sensitive nubs into your mouth, stimulating them endlessly with your lips and tongue.
“Just like that, fuck,” Jisun moaned, bouncing on your cock harder as you planted sloppy kisses on her breasts, palming and messily suckling on them as if Jisun’s voluptuous soft breasts were a top-notch meal and you had an insatiable appetite for them.
You did everything you could to Jisun’s tits, licking and slurping on her delicious nipples, teasing them with your tongue, biting them, devouring every inch of her breasts. She grew wetter with every movement, and you took a break from the buffet that was her chest, relaxing into the seat once more.
“How does that feel? Do you like when I ride your cock?” Jisun asked, keeping up the pace with every rock of her hips. Your arms spread wide and rested on the back dash as you watched her amazing breasts endlessly bouncing, unable to take your eyes anywhere else.
“It feels so good,” you said, your body feeling weightless, every sensation in your body being amplified as Jisun bounced and bounced with a limitless amount of energy. Her demeanor had changed tenfold since you met her, the stranded girl worried to no end now had lust-clouded eyes, full of wanton need and moaning easily into your ears.
“I want to make you cum. I want to keep riding your cock until you finish inside me.”
Jisun didn’t let you respond as she smothered your lips with her own, furiously bouncing on your cock as she grabbed your wrists and placed your hands on her breasts, helping you squeeze them as the loud smack of flesh against flesh filled the car.
“Play with my nipples. I’m so close, I want to cum on your cock.”
You did as instructed, wanting to fulfill any desires Jisun had as you pinched both of her hard nipples, tugging at them, teasing them with your fingertips, rolling them in between your fingers and doing anything to give her the stimulation she was desperate for.
“That’s it, please don’t stop. I’m going to cum on your cock so hard, oh god!”
Jisun’s tight dripping pussy clamped down hard around your cock, pulsating in random waves to validate her words. Her plump cheeks smacked against your lap, arms tightly wrapping around your neck as her breasts smashed against your chest, breathlessly moaning directly into your ears.
“Cum for me, Jisun.”
It wasn’t that she needed permission, but your beckoning words gave her an extra boost she needed, sending her over the edge. Her mouth agape as her head snapped back, toes curling and her breathing shallowed, holding on to your body as if she were going to collapse otherwise as her warm pussy pulsated rapidly as slick dripped out between her thighs.
Jisun’s half-lidded eyes grew heavy, closing them tightly for several moments as her intense climax washed over her like a hurricane, every ounce of pleasure hitting her all at once as she rode it out, gyrating her wide hips in slow lazy circles.
The fatigue set in as Jisun slowly opened her eyes, and as she came down from such an intense high you noticed the windows had fogged up considerably, only adding to the erotic atmosphere.
Jisun struggled to speak at first, still dealing with the aftermath of her climax as she took in several deep breaths, causing her chest to heave up and down which only aroused you even more.
“Your turn,” she said breathlessly, resting her head on your shoulder, catching her breath.
Jisun looked up at you, still in her post-orgasm haze and stared longingly into your eyes, sweetly whispering three words.
“Cum inside me.”
There was no better offer than that. Jisun did her best to move her hips, but you did the rest of the work, gripping her waist and thrusted frantically as sweat dripped down your brow.
You knew you weren’t going to last much longer, matching her slow and steady rhythm and driving yourself deep into her tight warm cunt.
“J-Jisun...I’m going to cum…” you moaned, the tightness in your core being impossible to ignore. She placed her hands on either side of your neck, her face a hair's breadth away as your impending orgasm grew closer and closer.
“It’s okay, fill me. Please, cum for me, give me everything.”
Just like before, her words were the trigger to your own climax, and with the last bit of thrusts you buried your shaft deep inside her heavenly pussy as you erupted. You grunted and groaned as your throbbing cock emptied into her, filling her to the brim with your thick, creamy load, her tight walls milking every drop out of you.
You fired everything you had into her body until your balls were drained, feeling just as breathless as Jisun did moments ago, gasping for air as she rested her pretty head on your warm chest.
Neither of you said a word for some time, communicating only in tired gasps and pants until you broke the silence.
“I think it stopped raining finally. Do you want me to try to call someone again?”
Jisun shook her head weakly. “It can wait until morning. The streets might be flooded, who knows how long it will take them.”
Her fingers ran through strands of your hair, playing with it lazily, “You can take me back home if you don’t mind. It’s not that far from here, I was on the way there before my car died.”
“Of course. Just tell me where to take you.”
“Let me get my things real quick,” Jisun said, almost forgetting that you still had your cock inside her.
“I guess I should get dressed first,” she giggled, as she dismounted herself from your shaft, her pussy leaking your hot load down her thighs.
“Fuck, you came a lot,” she said with a proud smirk as she slipped her top back on to cover herself up, not bothering with underwear as she pulled her jeans back up.
“I don’t exactly have anything to clean up with, sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it. I like the way it feels dripping inside of me,” she said, cautiously exiting the car. You got dressed yourself and moved to the driver’s seat, taking note of how the rain was thankfully now barely a sprinkle.
Jisun grabbed her purse, turning her hazard lights off and locked the door, slamming her car hood shut as she entered the passenger seat of your car, pulling down the visor to look at herself in the mirror.
“I’ve never had sex in a car before,” Jisun said, putting her seatbelt on as the engine purred to life.
“Me neither. First time for everything I guess?”
“Definitely.”
“Where to?”
Jisun punched her address into your GPS, and you looked behind you as you carefully pulled back onto the highway.
Her place wasn’t that far off, closer to your apartment than was expected as you pulled into a driveway, lights flashing onto a door with the number 009.
“Here we are, safe and sound.”
“Thank you,” Jisun said, and you couldn’t help notice the way the seatbelt rested in between her large breasts, making them appear even bigger and more noticeable.
“...You’re coming inside, aren’t you?” Jisun said, resting her hand on your thigh. “I won’t murder you. I promise,” she added.
“Well in that case...” you said, Jisun giggled cutely. You both stepped out of the car at the same time, letting her lead the way.
“I have roommates, but they’re not going to be here until the morning. We have this whole place to ourselves,” she said, keying in the number to her electronic lock as it magically opened.
Her place was smaller than expected as you slipped your shoes off and placed them in the entryway, next to several different pairs in different colors.
“How many roommates do you have?”
“Just a couple. Most of those are mine,” she responded, placing her shoes next to the pile.
You took a step onto the wooden floor that led into the living room, Jisun gesturing to take a seat on the couch centered in the room, small and cream-colored with tufted upholstery. Lounging back in the seat you were greeted with a surprising amount of comfort, trying not to hit your leg on the wooden coffee table in front, coming up to about your knees.
Jisun briefly panicked, noticing a leftover container of ramen and a can of orange fanta were left on the table as she quickly scooped them up and disposed of them.
“Sorry, my roommates are a bit of a slob.”
“I don’t mind.”
“Would you like some tea?” she asked, heading towards the rather small kitchen that doubled as a laundry room.
“Sure, I’d love some.”
“What kind would you like?”
“There’s more than one kind?”
Jisun chuckled as she opened a cupboard that she was barely able to reach filled with different colored boxes.
“Let’s see, we have blueberry, raspberry, ginseng, sleepytime, green tea, green tea with lemon, green tea with lemon and honey, ginger with honey, ginger without honey, vanilla almond, white truffle and... earl grey.“
“...I think you made some of those up,” you said, cocking your head to the side.
“How about raspberry?”
“Raspberry sounds great.”
Jisun grabbed a red box out of the cupboard, shutting the door and grabbed two black mugs, placing them on the counter as she poured water in an electric kettle.
“Shouldn’t take too long,” she said, settling down on the couch next to you and crossing her legs. You couldn’t help but notice that without the security of a bra her nipples were poking through her top, not that it wasn’t anything you hadn’t seen moments ago, but it did spark a fire in your loins.
“Are you hungry? I can whip something up real quick, I’m a really good cook.”
“I wish I was. I had a big dinner before the drive home.”
“Oh, okay,” Jisun said, disappointed. “I hope it was delicious.”
“It was, but you taste better,” you smugly said.
Jisun couldn’t help but laugh at your cheesy compliment, as there was an awkward moment of silence for two people who just had sex in a backseat.
“So, Jisun…” you said, struggling to come up with anything to say to break the tension. “This is a nice place.”
“Thank you. It’s small but cozy, and the rent is really cheap. There’s three of us here so I can afford to just work part-time right now.”
“What do you do if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Not at all. I’m a…” Jisun hesitated for a second, shyly smiling.
“I’m an erotic model.”
Jisun tried to hold back a giggle, failing miserably as she covered her mouth with her palm.
“Oh really?” you said. “So I’m not the only person who has seen you naked?”
“Sorry to break it to you. It’s not always nude though, sometimes it's lingerie or swimsuits, but I definitely don’t have my clothes on for most of the shoots.”
“You certainly have the body for it.”
Jisun blushed. “My roommate got me the job, she does the same thing. I wasn’t so sure about it at first, but then I realized then that my large breasts could work to my advantage, and it pays really well.”
Your thoughts raced of Jisun in various nude poses, baring herself for the world to see. It was at that moment that a loud beep came from the kitchen, signaling that tea was ready to be made.
“Be right back,” she said, heading to the kitchen to prepare the tea and came back right away.
“So, what about you?” Jisun asked as she sat back down.
“I’m a photographer. I haven’t been lucky enough to shoot erotic models though,” you said.
“How fun. Maybe someday you can take nude pictures of me.”
You could only dream of such a thing.
Another beep as Jisun excused herself, returning with two mugs of freshly brewed raspberry tea, handing you one, the delicious room flooding the room before you had your first sip.
“Careful, it’s hot.”
True to her word it was, but no less delicious, the aroma wafting and hitting your nostrils as you tasted it.
“Do you like being a model?”
“I love it,” she said without hesitation. “I love my body, I’m confident enough to stand in front of a mirror naked and be proud of what I see. I get to show the world that, have fun, and get paid to do it.”
“I’d love to see your work.”
“I’ve got some copies around here somewhere,” she said, bringing her mug to her lips and taking a loud sip.
“But I’ve got a better idea. I’ll be right back.”
Jisun headed out of the living room, bare feet walking up the black spiral staircase that led up to an unexplored area. You were left in silence, sipping on piping hot tea that warmed your throat as you waited for her return.
Not long after, Jisun came back into frame, standing at the top of the staircase in a very sheer black robe, loosely tightened that did little if anything to cover up her voluptuous body. She took slow purposeful steps down the staircase, her slender legs exposed through a slit in the robe as she took her time in making her way back down.
When her feet stepped off the last step she straightened her back, placing her hands on her hips and presented herself. You could see her breasts desperate to be freed once more, sporting more deadly cleavage as her small tight body was the perfect package of sexy and cuteness.
“Wow,” you said, your mind going blank as you were at a loss for words, putting your mug down on the coffee table.
“What do you think? This is what I wore for my last shoot,” she shyly said as she spun around, letting you see the glimpse of her bountiful backside.
“I think I need to see more,” you said, smirking as you tried not to salivate over her yummy body.
Jisun beamed in response, loosening the belt on her robe and letting it fall off her shoulders as it fell to the ground. She took a few steps towards you, letting you feast your eyes on the lacy pastel pink lingerie she had changed into, displaying all her delicious curves for you.
“You look so sexy, Jisun,” you said, as she sat back down on your lap, and you couldn’t take your gaze off her for a second, wrapping your hands around her waist.
“I really need to thank you again,” she warmly said, planting a kiss on your forehead.
Jisun stalled her words before continuing, placing her steaming mug next to your own.
“You took such good care of me,” Jisun said, initiating the kiss once more and pressing herself against you until both of your bodies were flat on the couch, your feet almost hanging off the edge.
“Hurry up and take this off,” she requested, pulling on your shirt, and you rushed to lift it off your body, tossing it on the ground. Jisun planted her soft lips down your body, starting with your neck, leaving a trail of kisses down your chest and your abdomen as she began unzipping your pants.
“I didn’t get a chance to suck your cock in the car,” she said, dragging your pants and underwear down to your ankles, resting a hand on your thigh as she pumped your shaft slowly.
“Mommy wants to take care of you now,” she said, staring into your eyes as she gave smooth delicate strokes from base to tip, working every inch of your throbbing shaft.
“Mommy?” you repeated.
“You’ll call me that won’t you, baby? It’ll really turn me on.”
“Of course, mommy,” you said, not hesitating for a second. Jisun’s eyes brightened and her heart skipped a beat as she laid down flat on her stomach, spreading your legs wide and rubbed your thighs.
Jisun puckered her lips and kissed the very tip of your cockhead, swirling her tongue around it, swiping against your leaking slit.
“Mommy...wants...to...pay...you...back,” she said, planting a wet kiss on your shaft after every word, smacking her lips against your flesh, leaving her wet mouth everywhere.
“You’re going to feel so good after I’m done with you, baby.”
Jisun gave your balls a tender squeeze, licking your shaft from base to tip, long delicate strokes of her tongue painting your cock as she explored every inch.
“Mommy can’t wait to make you cum again.”
The frantic licks around your shaft lowered, Jisun licking up and down your balls as she kissed her way back up, making sure not an inch of your shaft was left without feeling her soft lips.
Jisun knew you were more than ready, eager lips sliding alongside both sides of your needy shaft, running her tongue all over. When she reached your swollen head her soft lips wrapped around your shaft, sucking your tip gently as her cheeks hollowed, causing a gasp to leave your mouth.
She focused all of her attention on pleasuring you, moving just past your tip as it disappeared into her warm mouth, sucking on your shaft at her own deliberate pace.
“Fuck, mommy,” you said as Jisun began to bob her head up and down, lips sliding down halfway to your base and coming back up as her wet tongue played with the underside of your throbbing shaft.
Jisun’s dreamy eyes were etched onto yours, lifting her feet up into the air as she fondled your balls, gently massaging them as her mouth went as deep as she could, swallowing up every inch.
“That feels so good, mommy,” you moaned, feeling your shaft being coated in her warm saliva, as her slow pace continued, demonstrating she was no slouch when it came to her oral skills.
“I can tell. Mommy loves hearing you moan.”
Jisun took her sweet time, building you up slowly as you experienced a paroxysm of intense pleasure. Her warm wet mouth surrounded your throbbing needy shaft as she sucked every inch from base to tip, gently sliding up, and moving back down in smooth, carefully timed strokes.
You felt so many sensations throughout your body, unable to focus on any individual one as you stared up at the high ceiling for a moment, taking your eyes away from the oral assault between your thighs.
Your ears were filled with the wet sounds of Jisun slurping on your shaft, her tongue swirling around as her hands were kept busy, one hand resting on your thigh as her nails gently scratched your skin while the other caressed and played with your balls, making sure you were feeling as good as possible.
“M-mommy…” you whined, returning your focus to Jisun intensely pleasuring you, regretting looking back down at your crotch as it was quickly becoming too much to take.
Jisun didn’t back down, her delicious soft lips sliding down your length effortlessly, keeping those sparkling eyes on you and driving you absolutely insane, sucking off every inch of hard flesh as she caused endless moans from your mouth.
Your gasps and moans were music to Jisun’s ears as she parked her mouth at the end of your base for several seconds, tongue swirling in random patterns and you’re not sure how you didn’t immediately explode then and there.
She withdrew slowly but not without a few additional slurps, stroking your shaft gingerly as sat back up to her knees, positioning herself on the inside of your spread legs.
“You like mommy’s big tits, don’t you?” she asked, not that she didn’t already know the answer as she adjusted her lacy bra, making her breasts bounce.
“I love them, mommy.”
“Good,” she replied, taking your wet hard cock and sliding it under the fabric of her bra, trapped it between her soft pillowy breasts, causing your breath to get caught in your throat as you moaned loudly.
“H-holy fuck, mommy.”
Jisun didn’t say a word as her lips curled, spitting in between her cleavage repeatedly as she used her breasts to give devastating pleasure, grinding her chest against your shaft and causing friction.
Your shaft was being squeezed tightly by warm flesh as Jisun took you between her beautiful tits, just the sight of it overwhelming your senses. Her breasts felt so good as your shaft was sliding in and out of her delicious cleavage, aiding in lubrication by her saliva to keep the friction smooth as could be.
Jisun grabbed her breasts and squeezed them tighter, wrapping the delicate mounds of flesh around every inch of your throbbing shaft as you could only lie against the couch helpless, watching your shaft disappearing in the warm soft cavern of her amazing breasts.
“M-mommy I can’t take much more,” you cried out, feeling powerless to do anything but give in to her.
“It’s okay, baby. Mommy doesn’t want you to hold back, fuck these big tits until you explode. Can you do that for me, baby?”
“Y-yes, mommy.”
JIsun gave a bright expression on her features as your shaft was bombarded by so many sensations, warm suffocating flesh squeezing and massaging as you were thrusted into her cleavage, unable to escape her delicious large mounds as that aching feeling in your core snuck up again.
“M-mommy, I’m gonna cum!” you breathlessly said, Jisun’s bouncing breasts doing everything they could to send you over the edge.
“Cum for mommy.”
You couldn’t take anymore, with just a handful more pumps in between her large breasts you exploded, throbbing inside her cleavage and sent spurts of thick cum everywhere, landing on her delicious breasts and collarbone as you painted her body as she looked down proudly at you.
You felt your senses being attacked all at once as Jisun’s soft tits milked your cock, squeezing out every drop as your thick semen stained her skin, making sure you were granted as much pleasure as could take.
Your orgasm continued for several moments as Jisun freed your cock from her pillowy confines and stroked it, causing an uncontrollable twitch as she stroked it gently.
“You made such a mess all over mommy,” she said, rubbing your cum into her skin as it glistened, running a thumb against the sensitive underside of your cock as your whole body shook.
You caught your breath as you were able to come back down from your high still feeling the effects of your intense orgasm lingering through your body.
“You’re still hard, baby,” Jisun said, carefully working her fingers around your sensitive shaft.
“It’s because you turn me on so much, mommy.”
Jisun shyly smiled. “Good, that just means I get to drain your balls one more time. Let’s move to the bedroom.”
Jisun lifted herself off your body, helping you off the couch as she took you by the hand and led you up the dark spiral stairs into a nearby room that was unoccupied.
Her bedroom was cute and small, not unlike Jisun herself. Capturing the room’s focal point was a comfortable looking large bed, dark purple sheets with matching purple walls and light pink curtains that were drawn open, letting the moonlight in.
You didn’t have much time to admire the rest of the room as Jisun led you by your cock to the bed, and quicker than a hiccup she had unhooked her bra and slipped her panties off, lifting herself onto her mattress.
She scooted back onto the pillows, spreading her legs wide and letting you see the delicious pink flesh waiting for you as she flashed the most inviting eyes as she made a come-hither motion with her finger.
“Mommy wants to feel you inside again. Come fuck me.”
You never liked to keep a woman waiting, scurrying onto the bed between her spread legs, knees pressed firmly into her mattress. Gripping your shaft strongly you didn’t dawdle as you lined yourself up with Jisun’s heat, taking note of how wet her pink pussy had gotten as you slipped a finger inside her for just a second.
“Mommy is so wet,” you said, sucking the delicious juices off your finger.
“You should do something about that then, shouldn’t you, baby?”
You answered by pressing the swollen tip of your shaft inside her warmth, followed by the rest of you as Jisun was filled with hard flesh again, not having the patience to tease her.
Her beautiful moans filled the air, the slick lips of her tight cunt desperately clung to your shaft as you quickly formed a rhythm, gazing down at her body as her eyes were needy and thirsty for more.
You planned to do just that, grabbing her wonderful thighs and wrapping your arms around them as you bottomed her out with every thrust.
“Just like that, baby. Mommy likes it deep.”
Jisun lifted her arms up over her head, resting them onto her stack of pillows and letting you see an even better view of her breasts bouncing with every thrust. The pleasure was intense as your hips moved faster, Jisun’s delicious juices lubricating every inch of your hard shaft as you slid in and out of her warm hole with ease, feeling breathless as you fucked the cute busty woman.
“You fuck mommy so well, you like my pussy that much?” Jisun asked as you felt the need to increase your speed even more, endlessly thrusting balls deep in her tight petite frame.
“Y-yes, mommy, so fucking much...”
“That’s what I like to hear, baby. Keep fucking mommy just like this.”
Jisun’s honey voice instructing you just what to do escalated your arousal levels, putting you into an orgasmic trance as you kept her filled to the hilt, savoring the incredible warmth and wetness that never left your shaft.
“You feel so good, mommy,” you moaned, every inch of your sensitive shaft being squeezed by hot dripping flesh as you kept the fluid movements going, fucking Jisun’s tight perfect body as you began to feel the sweat misting on her flushed skin.
“Harder, baby. Can you make me cum again?” Jisun asked, biting her lip as you immediately gave in to her wishes, pistoning your hips in a way that made them smack against her luscious thighs, causing them to ripple.
“Of course, mommy.”
Your hands swapped from her thighs to her delicious waist, gripping her warm skin as you looked into her gorgeous features, increasing your pace even more and driving your shaft inside her from tip to base, loving the erotic stream of moans that escaped her sultry lips.
“Fuck, baby, you’re doing such a good job. Don’t stop, I’m almost there,” she said, squeezing her breasts as she pinched her nipples and it seemed the additional stimulation was her favorite way to climax.
“Cum for me, mommy, please cum for me,” you pleaded, watching the wonderful lustful expression on her face. It didn’t take much longer, every thrust inside her warm pussy causing her walls to pulsate harshly and in no time flat you had made her reach her peak again.
“Mommy’s gonna cum!” Jisun cried out, her back arching off the bed as she gripped the sheets with one hand, playing with her sensitive nipples with the other. Her toes curled into the mattress as she screamed with pleasure, soaking your shaft and the sheets underneath as she came even harder than her first orgasm in the car, the intensity running through her body as she struggled to see straight.
You kept the motions going through every last second of her strong orgasm, feeling her shaking in your arms as you didn’t stop fucking her for a second, dangerously close to following behind her.
“F-fuck, baby,” Jisun gasped out, eyes glazed over as she was able to regain her senses.
“You made mommy feel so good,” she said, struggling to breathe properly as her eyes closed for a moment, feeling lost in euphoria as she came down gracefully.
Her walls had squeezed your shaft so tightly, as if they were trying to steal your load early from your shaft as her thighs trembled in time with the aftershocks of her body. Your pace had lowered during Jisun’s climax, but you were ready to kick it back in full speed, giving the deepest strokes you could handle.
“Are you going to cum for mommy again? I can feel you throbbing so much.”
“Y-yes, mommy,” you said, feeling light-headed as your hands roamed bare skin, leaning forward to capture her plentiful breasts in your palms.
“Cum inside mommy. I don’t want it anywhere else,” she demanded, as your hips increased the range of motion, thrusting wantonly inside her dripping hot cunt, chasing your climax.
“Cum for me, baby. Cum inside me, fill me with another thick load. Please, baby, cum for mommy.”
Jisun’s thick thighs wrapped around your waist, letting you know that pulling out was not an option, not that you ever would have done so otherwise. Your thrusts sped up with more frequency, moving as fast and deep inside her warm inviting pussy as possible.
Your face was close enough to hers for your noses to touch, and you gave one her more chaste kiss as you felt that aching in your core that crept up on you, staring into each other's eyes and trying to extend your pleasure for as long as possible.
“Mommy, I’m cumming!” you cried out, as Jisun squeezed her thighs around your body tighter, making sure you were going to give her every drop.
You couldn’t even count the number of thrusts it took before you erupted, throbbing wildly into Jisun as you began filling her up, sending your warm cum into the depths of her pretty pussy, her soft walls seizing every spurt out of your shaft.
It was your third orgasm of the night and yet was the strongest one, each shot of cum deposited in Jisun accompanied desperate moans as you emptied your balls inside her, trying to fuck your creamy load as deep as it would go.
“You feel so warm, you came so much for mommy,” Jisun said, caressing the side of your face, her tired eyes still locked onto you.”
She still had her legs locked tight around you, refusing to let go and you were just as eager to stay in this position forever, your shaft drowning in the combined juices of each other.
Jisun made sure your balls were drained inside her fully before she loosened the grip of her, causing your twitching shaft to depart from her pussy. She lifted her legs and pressed them together to give you the most optimum view as your load leaked out of her pussy, dripping out little by little as she played with her creamy splayed lips.
Still trying to catch her breath Jisun pressed two fingers into her semen-soaked pussy, into the deepest part as she collected the mess you left inside her, bringing it to her lips and sucking them clean.
“You taste so good, baby,” she said, gesturing you to come over as you collapsed onto her sweaty body, using her breasts as the perfect pillow.
You rested on her body for several moments in silence, neither of you saying a word as you were able to feel her chest heaving, equally exhausted.
“Do you want to shower with me before we go for round three?”
“R-round three? I can barely move-”
“Jisun-unnie! We’re back home, we brought back chicken!”
“Shit!” Jisun muttered under her breath, staring at you like a deer caught in headlights as she found herself in a state of panic.
“They came home early?”
“Seems so, they certainly picked the worst time. I’ve never brought anybody home before.”
“Well...maybe we should take that shower now,” you suggested, as Jisun bowed her head in agreement.
“Good idea, it’s down the hall. Come on.”
The two of you scrambled down the hallway, entering a door on the left just in time as Jisun locked it tightly. She managed to turn the water on just in time as two women could be heard climbing up the staircase, stepping onto the second floor.
“Jisun-unnie?” one called out, curiously looking around the second floor. The lights in Jisun’s room were still on, clothes scattered around the floor that left a trail of evidence.
“Unnie should really learn to put up her clothes,” one of the women said, picking up one of the discarded garments and inspecting it.
“This isn’t her shirt.”
“I don’t think she wears boxers either,” the other woman said as she furrowed her brow.
The two women exchanged confused glances that turned into surprise, putting together the pieces one by one.
“She also never showers at night,” one woman said as they looked around the room.
“I didn’t see her car in the driveway when we pulled in...”
It didn’t take a detective to figure out what was going on, exchanging playful smirks on their faces.
“We should probably leave them alone…”
“But I wanna know who got in unnie’s pants!” one of them whined, a little too loud for comfort that could be heard through the shower. You and Jisun nervously stared at each other under the hot water, trying not to say a word.
“It’s not polite to be nosy, let’s give them some privacy.”
The two women headed back down the stairway, making their way down into the kitchen
“I think they went back downstairs,” you said, staring at Jisun’s soaped-up naked body.
“Are you sure?”
“No, but I don’t hear them talking anymore. Your walls are really thin.”
“Tell me about it. I had to buy a quieter vibrator, learned that the hard way,” Jisun said, her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
“But now that we’ve gotten a little privacy…how about you fuck me against this wall? Think you can go again?”
“Shouldn’t I be asking you the same thing?”
Jisun smirked devilishly, spinning carefully on her heels as she took up position behind the nearest glass pane.
“Don’t keep mommy waiting.”

Game Changers|1|A. Banks| Mighty Ducks
@ohnoitsthebat here is chapter one of my mighty ducks story, i have been on a roll with it today
Introduction
“Come on Ava, there is no reason to pout.” Rick Riley, Ava’s older cousin said as he stood in the doorway of her bedroom, his best friend Biff Cole behind him. “What did Gordon do now?” “Who says it has anything to do with my dad?” “ Cause you always get like this when he does somethin’.’ Ava blinked her eyes in surprise and then looked at her cousin then back at him, that was the first time she had heard him string together a full sentence.
“He and Casey are having problems which in turn is making Charlie and I fight.” She answered as she picked at the lace on one of her throw pillows, ‘I have been staying most of the summer. Grandpa insisted.”
Spending the summer at her grandparents wasn’t something she had been planning on, she had thought that she would be with her stepmom and brother and be able to see the Ducks more but that hadn’t been the case. Rick folded his arms as he stared at her, “Aves, you can’t lie to me.”
“Rick.” She started as she raised the pillow to throw at him, “I am fine.” “Ava Grace, don’t you dare,” Rick warned, pointing his finger at the younger girl who grinned and dropped the pillow onto her bedding again.
“Come on, let's go play some hockey.” “Grandpa doesn’t like it when I play hockey and you Rick know that.” “What Grandpa doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” Ava’s blue eyes came alive with excitement as she all but flew from her bed. “You are the best.”
“I know. C’mon.’
“This is a bad idea,” Cole warned. He liked Ava, she was like his own little sister but she was tiny and liable to get hurt easily and he didn’t want to be on the receiving end of one of Coach Riley’s tirades again. He had enough of that when he was on the Hawks and he didn’t want to hear what he would say if Ava got hurt. Ava was Coach Riley’s and his wife Elizabeth’s 2nd chance at having a daughter.
Their daughter Grace had some issues with drugs and booze and had ended up in a fiery car crash that cost her her life. Rick insisted that he, his younger brother Tommy and Cole stay with Ava until she got back on steady ground. It had taken until late that year to get back to normal. And they both knew it was a combination of them and The Ducks that helped her.
“Don’t worry Cole, everything is going to be just fine.”
Everything wasn’t fine. It went from bad to worse in a matter of seconds, and Rick and Cole couldn’t believe their eyes as the black sedan came out of nowhere running the red light and hitting Ava hard. She went up and over the hood and landed hard on the side. A loud cry escaped her.
“Aves! What hurts?’ Rick asked rushing to her side, the last thing he wanted was his cousin to be hurt. Ava at first didn’t answer, she was trying to pull herself together so she wouldn’t show them how scared and how hurt she really was. That was Reilly’s toughness and the Bombay stubbornness shining through.
“Ava, what hurts?” Rick repeated, as the man got out of the car and came over to them. “Jesus, is she alright?” ‘No idiot, she isn’t okay.” Biff had run into the nearby store to call 911. Both he and Rick were trembling not only from fear of what happened but the fear Coach Rielly was going to say to them when they got ahold of them.
“Grandpa is going to kill us,” Ava whined through the pain, “My whole left side hurts.” Rick leaned over and pulled up the coat and sweater, the skin was already turning black and blue. He fought back the bile that rose up in his throat, he had seen a lot of injuries playing hockey but this was different, this was his little cousin and it was his fault that she was hurt. “Everything is going to be okay Aves.” He assured her, “ I won’t leave your side until Uncle Jack comes.” Ava nodded her head as the paramedics and the cops swarmed the area.
“Rick. Don’t leave me please,” Ava begged as they started putting a neck brace on her and checking for other injuries. “I am her cousin. My friend is trying to find her grandfather.’ ‘Casey.” Ava whined again, the pain was getting worse. “Her phone number is in my pocket.” She had a habit of carrying slips of paper around with her that had her grandparent's phone numbers and her stepmother’s phone numbers just in case something happened while she was out.
Rick reached into her coat pocket and pulled out the crumpled pieces of paper. In her little handwriting was the full name of her stepmom and the phone number for the apartment and the phone number to the restaurant. Cole had come out and he handed him the paper with a short quiet call her step mom request. “I am sorry Aves.” Cole said quickly before rushing back into the building.
The paramedics loaded Ava up on the stretcher and started to load her into the ambulance.
Rick steps behind them. “Rick?” There was panic in her voice, she was scared that she was going to be left. “I am right here kiddo. Don’t worry.” He said before the paramedic let him come to her side. Her blue eyes were hazy and teary still. ‘They gave you some morphine huh?” “Yep.” She popped her p with a small giggle. Rick laughed with her, thankful that she wasn’t hurting. He just hoped it would last until Jack got there.
***
It wasn’t Jack Reilly who showed up first, it was Ava’s stepmother Casey and her stepbrother Charlie. “Ava! What happened?” Casey cried as she threw her purse on the empty chair and Charlie went straight to Ava’s side, conercn on his face.
“Got hit by a car. We were crossing the street and his car came out of nowhere.’ Ava returned.
‘They have her on morphine right now,” Rick added, “The driver broke her hip.”
“Did he get arrested?” Charlie questioned, he was now sitting next to Ava on the bed, changing the channels until he found 90210. He had heard Tammy and Connie talk about it enough to know that Ava would like it.
“Yes he did. The police just left.’ Rick had gotten over the anxiety he had felt and was starting to feel more guilt. If he hadn’t switched her spot to walk next to Biff as they were talking about girls that went to their school, it would have been him that was hit and not Ava. “Is her grandfather coming?” Rick nodded his head, they had finally got ahold of her grandfather and his father were coming in. “Can I stay with you?” Ava asked her hazy blue eyes on her stepmother who smiled at her, unshed tears in her eyes. “Aves, you don’t even have to ask.” “What about Coach?” Charlie asked as his sister put her head on his shoulder, the pain meds getting the better of her. “Forget him, his career is more important than us. Always has been.” Casey shook her head at Charlie before taking a seat, they would discuss what they had too once Ava wasn’t on pain meds and not terrified because of an accident she was in.

pairing: basically miguel galindo x black!OC
genre: errrr pettiness? fluff, maybe angst
word count:
AN: DO NOT WORRY! I AM CURRENTLY WRITING A FIC WITH FLUFF WITH ANGEL THEN EZ😂
____________________________________________🖊
"I just don't understand why I have to go back there." Sierra huffed, not wanting to move since she was very much pregnant as hell. She didn't want to leave the comfort of her couch but Miguel was more at ease knowing she was with him at all times with her being so close to her due date. He didn't want anything to happen to her, but he understood where his wife was coming from when she said that she didn't want to go back to the clubhouse after what happened to her 4 years ago. The only two people she's kept up with was Letty and Chucky. They've visited her a few times, they came to the wedding, the baby shower, almost everything. They were the only two people she trusted when it came to the Mayans.
"Mi reina, I completely understand why you don't want to go back, but I can assure you that nothing will happen to you because while I conduct business with Bishop, Nestor will be by your side just as he has been all these years. You have nothing to worry about, just trust me." He reassured her. She sighed and nodded her head as he gave her a triumphant smile. "Besides, it'd be nice to see you be petty every once in a while."
"I'm not liable for anything that happens while you're in the Templo. You know how my mouth gets when I get riled up" She grumbled, slowly sitting up from the couch to slip on her slides. Miguel gave her a kiss on the cheek, and let her have her alone time until it was time to work again. He absolutely knew how much of a hard ass she can get when she gets mad, he's been on the other side of that on several occasions.
Sierra was 100% sure that Miguel was bringing her out of spite because he liked to brag and that's just the type of man he was. He took pride in the fact that he finally found love after Emily since he found out Cristobal wasn't his. He was heartbroken, yeah, but Sierra was there for him when nobody else was, and she was there for him when she told him about the deal that EZ had made with the feds. Of course, she felt like a bad friend, but there was so much betrayal being thrown around inside the Mayans, she didn't care anymore. Now here she is, 4 years later, married and pregnant by the one man that Angel and EZ had hated more than anything.
She had came to peace with herself and what happened to her a long ass time ago. She didn't want to harbour any hate for a man that didn't even deserve her time of the day. She stopped posting on social media because for some reason it had always encouraged him to call her, even while she was engaged to Miguel. She had also known, that Miguel was a completely different breed when it came to loyalty, it was like taking care of her needs was always his first priority and she used to feel so overwhelmed with how much love she had been receiving, but she had gotten used to it.
"It's time to go mi corazon," Miguel announced, walking back into the living room with Nestor behind him. She gave the two men a confused look as she watched Miguel carry a bag. He gave her a smile and handed it to her. She smiled as she looked inside the bag to see that it was filled with all her favourite snacks and drinks since he knew she liked to eat throughout the day. Not wanting to waste any time, she pulled out a bag of hot cheetos and ripped the bag open before popping a handful in her mouth.
Miguel grabbed her free hand and lead her to the car where the driver was waiting. He opened the door for her, placing a hand on her back as she got in. After she got comfortable, he closed the door and walked to the other side before settling himself beside her. Out of instinct, Sierra crossed her legs over her husbands, and scooted closer to him. He smiled and began to rub her thighs as the car started to move, Nestor sitting in the front. Miguel rolled up the partition from his side of the car, and began rubbing her thighs higher and higher, making her look at him suspiciously.
"The same shit your doing now is the reason why I'm pregnant." She grumbled, trying to push his hand away from he only grabbed it and laced it with his other hand as he slowly pulled her panties off with one hand and began to rub her clit slowly in small circles. She sighed and leaned her head back as she tried not to make too much noise because the car definitely wasn't sound proof.
"You know I can never get enough of you querida, no matter how pregnant you are." He mumbled, leaning over to place small kisses on her neck and chest. Sierra sighed in content and leaned back on the seat with her sundress hiked up to her belly, making Miguel smile. Maybe a small quickie wouldn't hurt.
"Miguel just hurry up because you got me horny knowing how sensitive my hormones are." She complained, trying to unbuckle his slack but he slapped her hand away, and held her legs up by the back of her knees.
"Relax honey, it'll be a while before we get there anyway." He stated before eating his wife out like it was her last meal, not giving her a chance to respond properly since she was too busy trying not to moan as she ran her hands through his hair.
Miguel moaned as he felt her drip onto his tongue before pushing her dress up past her. breast so he could have something soft to hold onto. Lately, he had been having sex with her and eating her out more than usual. She tasted sweeter and her pushy was always extremely wet during sex. He let go of her trembling legs, and snuggly placed them on his shoulder so that she would be more comfortable.
He circled his lips around her clit before sucking harshly, receiving a loud moan from her. "Holy fuck! Shit..."
Sierra looked down to her husband over her belly to see him already staring at her with wide eyes as he used both hands to spread her pushy lips as he stiffened his tongue and proceeded tongue fuck her deeper, making her thud down onto the seat and let out another sob as she felt herself coming closer and closer to cumming.
Her mouth fell into a silent scream as she felt her orgasm crash down upon her. Miguel did his best to keep her still as he watched her essence spurt out of her, watching as her legs continued to shake from the huge orgasm. Miguel glanced outside of the moving car for a split second before rushing to pull his slacks down.
"We'll be there in 5, so lets make this quick mi reina," He mumbled, kissing his wife on the lips before leaning back up to thrust into her. Sierra gasped and grabbed her husbands hand as he quickly plowed into her as he tried to get her to finish as she chased his own climax. Miguel tried his best not to moan loud because he knew Nestor would give him shit so he stuck with deep breaths and small grunts. Sierra bit onto her lip as she watched her husband thrust harshly into her.
"You gonna let them know who you belong to amor?" Miguel asked, moving his hand to rub his wife's clit as she came around him. She sporadically and rapidly nodded her head as she tried to push him away but he grabbed both her hands and placed them above her her as he continued his consistent thrusting, now getting to his orgasm as he gave her one more thrust, spilling himself inside her. (I promise I write better smut than this lol.)
"Miguel, we're here." Nestor called from the front. Miguel could hear the sound of the front seat opening before he and Sierra put their clothes on. She straightened herself out, fixing her hair while Miguel pulled up his slacks and buckled his pants back.
It had just dawned on her about what she was about to walk into. Sierra sighed, not wanting to see anyone's face again, not after what happened but she knew she really had no choice seeing as she willingly got into the car with her husband.
Miguel noticed her distress, and comforted his wife, "Hey, if you don't want to come in it's your decision."
Sierra smiled at him and shook her head, "No, I want to. Let's go."
The couple made it out of the car, checking their surrounds before a loud voice caught her attention. Miguel whispered to Nestor about keeping a watch on her, the man nodding his head.
"SIERRA! GIRL HEY!" Letty ran up to the pregnant woman and engulfed her in a huge hug, being mindful of her belly. Miguel smiled at the interaction and stated that he was going inside for his meeting with Bishop, to which Sierra smiled and nodded her head before kissing his lips as a temporary goodbye.
"You're glowing! Miguel really got you out here living your best life." She complimented, looking at her friend. Sierra laughed and rubbed her belly out of instinct.
"Girl, he is but don't tell him I said that shit. His ego already big as hell." She joked, earning a laugh from the younger girl in front of her.
"You wanna head inside?" Letty asked after a small moment of silence. Sierra hesitantly smiled and nodded her head. Letty noticed the hesitance.
"If it makes you feel any better, Angel's been a shit show ever since you left. Adelita was pregnant and he thought it was his but turns out it wasn't. So karma's a bitch I guess." Letty explained as the two of them walked to the doors of the clubhouse. Sierra gave a small hum at the new information. She had always told Angel that Adelita was suspect but he clearly was too deep in her pussy to see that until it was too late.
"I'm married to a good ass man and we got a kid on the way, I could really care less." She stated, walking past Letty to get inside with Nestor following closely behind since she was burning up. It was like a record scratch from those dramatically funny ass movies and suddenly all eyes were on her while some where on her belly.
Of course they were doing the same banter just like the time Angel got caught only his little Adelita wasn't here. Such a shame. She turned to Nestor with a smile on her face.
"Could you get me something to drink?" She asked quietly. Nestor gave her a friendly smile and walked to the bar to ask for some water, returning it back to Sierra as she thanked him and took a big gulp from him. She tried her hardest to ignore the stares but it was getting irritating at this point.
"Are yall gone keep staring or is somebody gone speak?" She asked loudly, scanning the room, and of course the first one to walk up was Angel. Looking past him, Sierra locked eyes with a girl with shoulder length hair, making her squint her eyes at her before the girl broke contact with her and turned around.
"Who knocked you up?" He asked, pointing to her belly before glancing at Nestor who was standing behind him. She smiled at him.
"Not your hoe ass, that's for sure." She replied, pretending to pick at her nails as if she were bored with the conversation already.
"Mi reina seriously, did you let Miguel knock you up?" Angel asked, hoping to hear a no, but from the smile on her face he knew it was the opposite. Sad to say, he had thought about coming to see her all the way up until this point, but she clearly was busy with someone else.
"I'll tell you this. I married the same man who got his heart broken by the bitch your brother constantly fucked. Crazy how their baby wasn't his but EZ's isn't it? Kinda pathetic if you ask me, taking Miguel's sloppy seconds...so weird." She spoke, every ounce of venom on her voice. She had time to be petty today.
"Did you come here to insult us? If you did you can fucking lea--"
"How's Adelita? Y'know with you cheating on me with her and all one would've thought that you guys would be a big happy family with her being pregnant. Oh wait, they poor baby isn't even yours. So not only did you cheat, you allowed a hoe to run game on you. Crazy." She chuckled, shaking her head at him. Angel knew he should say something, but how could he when everything she's saying is true. As far as Nestor, the only thing he could really do was try not to laugh, since he was told not to start anything unless he felt like someone was physically trying to attack his boss's wife and unborn child.
"Seriously Sierra, we get that we fucked you over but chill out." Gilly spoke from the other side of the room. Sierra looked at him and sighed.
"Gilly, if you knew how much dirt I had on you and every person in this room you would shut the fuck up and keep stuffing your fat ass face." Sierra ranted. Where the fuck is Miguel?
"Uhm excuse me but who are you? Angel why are you letting her walk all over you?" One of Vickey's girls asked, standing up to get beside Angel.
"You do know I can put a price on your head and get you knocked off right? Matter fact lemme just..." She trailed off, pulling out her phone to text Miguel but Nestor grabbed the phone from her hand before she could. One phone call and the entire building will be burned to the damn ground with everyone in it.
"He just saved your life. Next time you wanna try somebody, try a bitch that ain't me." She hissed, standing up just in time to see her husband walking out of the templo with Bishop, who could clearly feel the tension in the room. Miguel smiled and walked over to his wife as she welcomed him with a hug.
"She wasn't too much trouble was she?" Miguel asked Nestor, who handed her back her phone.
"Other than the fact that she just tried to get one of Vickey's girls dead, no, she's been an angel as always." Nestor laughed, stepping back from the two of them.
"Why the fuck did you marry her into this shit? You're too dangerous for her." Angel fussed, scowling at Miguel who turned around with an amused look on his face.
"Angel seriously shut the fuck up. You just don't like the fact that I'm married to the one man everybody in this bitch is afraid of because if he's too dangerous for me then you were as well and yet I STAYED with you and you see where that got me. It took you five years to propose to me while it took him one and a half, and we got married 6 moths later. Like my momma always said, a man knows when he ready to settle down, and you weren't ready and that's okay, but don't try to talk about what the fuck I got going on when you clearly got homegirl in the back over there scared to even say shit with her weak ass but I'm not surprised, you always had to fuck weak bitches because you could never handle a real ass bitch like me. Have a nice life dickface." She ranted, grabbing her husband's hand who was shocked at the confrontation. Any other time Miguel would be the first to speak on something like that but hearing his wife do it for him just made his heart swell with pride.
"You handled that better than I would have baby, I'm proud of you." He told her as the two of them got into the car. Sierra smiled and leaned into her husbands side as he pulled her closer and kissed her head.
"Okay now take me home and give me bath." She demanded, causing the other man to throw his head back in laughter.

The group's strongest alibis for not being Team MWAF
Hannah's Alibi: All signs point to her being the victim.
So, If She Were Team MWAF...:She had a full-bore Hitchcockian psychotic breakdown and... erm, somehow got a tall male machete-wielding hitman on board with it, to dress as the personification of her worst nightmare.
Conclusion: It's not Hannah.
Jake's Alibi: He coordinated the entire group for the express purpose of finding Hannah starting the instant she disappeared, and is responsible for half your key evidence.
So, If He Were Team MWAF...: He wanted to play Murder Host to the whole crew for reasons of skeletons which will all, every single one, come out at the last minute. You weren't supposed to be part of the plan and, when you turned up, he chose the dubious strategy of being extremely helpful to you.
Conclusion: If it's Jake, the entire game is ruined.
Thomas's Alibi: He decided to contact you, when no one else had the wherewithal to do that.
So, If He Were Team MWAF...: It was the Man Without A Face, and not Hannah, who brought your number into the picture. For reasons that are, well, not really any less scrutable than Hannah doing it. Then he basically just sat back and let events unfold through the first seven chapters.
Conclusion: If it's Thomas, he's still as ineffectual as he was before. But it could nonetheless be a cool twist. I haven't the faintest about the details, but it really could. Also, in that case, it would definitely not be Michael Hanson.
Cleo's Alibi: She put you onto the Man Without A Face to begin with.
So, If She Were Team MWAF...: She did immediately discount that lead from several angles. Maybe she just... blurted it, somehow? But maybe she's playing Junior Murder Host, a la one of those movies where it turns out Vincent Price didn't do it.
Conclusion: She could have a human motive for targeting everyone. Keep her on the list.
Richy's Alibi: He earnestly bribed and begged you to come on board the investigation when it was a very dubious proposition your end. Also, he seems very liable to be dead.
So, If He Were Team MWAF...: He thought much less of your chances of competence than he did of his appearance before the others. And local forensics is also in on the racket.
Conclusion: Hmm. Well, Alan Bloomgate is the only going candidate besides Jake for remote-deleting your number from Thomas's phone. And, unless you count Jake, Richy is the only member of the group who is eligible to be not just the accomplice but the Man Without A Face himself. Sad to say, Richy's innocence is less likely than I thought going in. But if it's him, he'll have begun the game with a monumental unforced blunder.
Jessy's Alibi: She found and helped raid Michael Hanson's house, and is responsible for giving us all the photos from the Den Of Ravencrazy.
So, If She Were Team MWAF...: It isn't actually Michael Hanson, as we kind of figure. She had time to edit out what was truly incriminating. Also she's an excellent actress, and not half as fond of Phil as she pretends upon his arrest.
Conclusion: It could very well be Jessy, and if so, everyone who romanced or befriended her gets serious emotional torque out of it.
Dan's Alibi: Current mobility questions aside, he was definitely hospitalized because of a real car crash.
So, If He Were Team MWAF...: Well, he hasn't had much to do but sow unwarranted suspicion and give tipoffs... until just now.
Conclusion: It's pretty likely and, if true, will hit hard immediately.
Lilly's Alibi: She helped Jake escape his pursuers.
So, If She Were Team MWAF...:Sometimes you've got to sacrifice your rooks to stay in the game.
Conclusion: She has the thinnest excuse of all, but I still doubt it. The twist just doesn't pack much of a punch.

The vanishing hitchhiker
This tale is different from the others on my page. There are no known dates or locations, it seems to be a story that has been passed along, almost like the game 'Chinese whispers.
The story goes, a lone man was driving home one night and decided to take a shortcut he had never used before. It was a long and deserted road (this doesn't smell too good already). As he was zooming down this lonely road, he spotted a figure standing at the side. As the man got closer he realised it was a young woman, in a summer dress, holding her hand out. The man picked her up, as he didn't feel threatened by a random young lady who was simply asking for a ride home. She hopped into the back of the car, hand on her throat. She told the driver that she needed to go home, her house was blue and only down the road. The unknown teller of this story said that she looked cold, she wasn't wearing a jacket so the driver gave her his brown leather jacket (remember that). He tried to make conversation with the mysterious woman but all she did was stare with emptiness out of the rain-drop covered car window. An awkward silence filled the air so the driver turned on the radio, all that played was static. The blue house came into eyesight, as he pulled up onto the side of the road he looked in his rearview mirror and the girl had vanished.
The now panicked man searched the car, but this woman had disappeared without a trace. A single light flicked on in the blue house and an elderly woman stepped onto the driveway. She said "it's okay. My name is Mrs Williams. I'm guessing you've seen Heather." The elderly lady told the story of Heather to the confused man. It is said that this hitchhiker was a girl named Heather, who died in the spot where drivers pick her up. Heather was walking home from a party one night and was hit by a car full of drunk teenagers, and died instantly at the spot where this man picked her up from. Ever since her death, her ghost appears where her life came to an end, trying to get home but never making it. The mother tells the man that Heather was buried in Evergreen cemetery, twenty-five years ago. This cemetery is a real place, in Los Angeles California. So we have some sort of location which makes this story more liable. Back to the story-telling, the man was restless all night, his mind racing. The next day he went to this cemetery in search of Heather's gravestone. He spent hours going from headstone to headstone, reading over the names of lost souls. On one headstone he noticed a familiar-looking jacket. Remember it? The brown leather jacket he had leant to the cold, eerie hitchhiker. He read the name on the grave, it had 'Heather Williams' etched onto it.
This story appears to be years old. To me, it sounds like a fictional horror story but there is some sort of an origin story to it. There is even a version of this tale in the bible. However, in the two versions of the stories, the main cast is different. It is either a vanishing hitchhiker trying to get home or a doomsday prophet wanting a lift.
In the '70s and '80s, this story of Heather Williams was spread around at sleepovers, in books, in the newspaper, in magazines and around campfires. It is said that on some occasions this vanishing hitchhiker story caused some chaos. People who had heard it would feel so frightened when driving home alone in the dark, that they would crash as their mind would replay this story over and over in their head.
There was a story going around some time ago about a hitchhiker nun. Allegedly a driver picked up a nun from the side of the road and during the drive she spoke in an ominous voice. She said that the eruption of Mount St.Helens, in the '80s, was God's warning to the area. She chatted on and on about how, if people did not repent their sins, they would be obliterated in the next volcanic eruption. She would then disappear.
This story became so well-known and so told that people began putting on their twists to the story, so who knows what is true or fabricated? At one point in time, people begun purposely trying to pick up this vanishing hitchhiker, it became a trend. These horror fans would drive up and down desolate roads hunting for these phenomenons. However, there is no definite road where Heather or the nun was spotted, so these people would have been driving down whatever road was used in the story they were told at the time. Another form of this story was being told over time too. It is said that a woman pulled into a gas station and was approached by a man who would then say that his rental car was dead and needed a ride for an important appointment. His desired location was just down the road from where the woman was heading so she said yes. He put his briefcase in the back of her car and headed to the men's room before they set off on the journey ahead. The woman waited and waited for him but there was no sign of him. She had to leave as she was in a rush. When she arrived at her destination she saw the mans briefcase in the back of her car. She looked inside the briefcase and found a knife and duct tape. I don't think this man was a ghost, more like a murderer but it's still a very creepy hitchhiker story.
The moral of this tale is never pick up hitchhikers as they could either be the ghost of some unlucky person or a murderer. So do you think Heather was a ghost who was just trying to make her way home or was this story made up for telling to friends at sleepovers, in the dark?

No Ordinary Time: Part Two “wherever you are tonight”
"...A time when the United States is what we fight for..."
The occupants of the Grisham Hall boarding house were no strangers to the war effort. Brothers, cousins, old flames, and current sweethearts have been wrenched from their grasp, the only contact to their stolen loved ones is military-grade pencils and scraps of paper.
Estelle prides herself on her mind for numbers but a usurper from her past rears his russet head and threatens to steal her thoughts every chance he gets. Bessie has been searching for a home in every patron in that cafe but she's left seeing his face everywhere she looks. Constance hears her lover's voice on the wind, finding quiet in the graveyard shift of the machine shop. Margaret refuses to admit defeat but the distance between her letters and her love grows wider each day. Jeannette has read many stories about tragic heroes. Her childhood friend has told tales of his plans for wealth and ending the war on his own. She just hopes she has a chance to do her part first.

Norfolk, VA. 4th of April, 1944.
While some found the adjustment to loved ones being taken from their grasp rocky, Elizabeth Ferguson had the advantage that only a select few possessed. She had already lived through it, making the sting nothing but a fond memory. It didn’t stop stinging though, no matter how many times one felt it. A dull ache would be a more appropriate term, the bruised flesh tender, and the black discoloration fading but the strain of muscles didn’t let the memory fade entirely. It was enough to make a first-timer bedridden for a week but to a repeat offender like Elizabeth, it was a mild discomfort. She had said goodbye before and did her best not to, when given the chance.
She held onto forlorn books, ragged quilts, and threadbare shirts to keep the end at bay, trying to prevent the inevitable ache. Elizabeth tried her best to limp about when the goodbyes were unavoidable. That could be said of everything she attempted. Bessie was a trier, an all-around trier and failer. She didn’t have a wall of degrees like Estelle or a self-assured flick to her head like Vera. She was just Bessie Ferguson, who had clattered and crashed her way through twenty-one years of life. Not that she hadn’t attempted school (she wasn’t the best student) and not that she hadn’t attempted to walk with the confidence that her theatrical friend possessed (it ended in a twisted ankle and a scraped-up knee) but by god, she tried.
She liked to think that her determination was her best attribute, right up there with the dimple on her left cheek that had gotten her more than her fair share of tips when she had been employed at Charlie’s. The real Charlie had said she was one of his best workers and his gruff voice in her head still brought a smile to her lips, bringing out the money-winning dimple.
Even when goodbyes were said, Bess found ways to hold onto the people or things. She still frequented her old place of work long after she was employed in the noble service of her country. Every Friday, like clockwork, she was in the second to last booth, the red vinyl striking against the blue of her uniform.
I look like the American flag, Bess thought, examining herself in the reflection on the glass of the window. Red booths, white mugs, and a blue uniform. How was that for patriotic?
She looked different, hair sleek and uniform pressed. Was this really Bessie Ferguson who knew every waitress and cook’s name in Charlie’s Diner? Or was Bessie older now, with the WAVES blue wool on her shoulder, finer and warmer than anything she had owned in her twenty-one years. 1941 seemed like a century ago, not three years.
“Hiya, Bess,” Angie was still there, her bouffant of pin curls still perched precariously on her brow. “You got a letter from your boy, I see,”
Bess came in every Friday, with a new letter or to write her own. The grease-stained walls had brought her luck and good memories. She thought that she could imbue them into the stationary, sending them across the ocean to him.
“Yup,” Bessie said, smiling.
“About damn time,”
She had been sat without a letter for some two weeks now. The patrons and the staff of Charlie’s had been concerned, fretting more than Bessie had herself.
“He was a dear thing, that Powers boy,” Angie said, tucking her pad back into the apron Bess was all too familiar with. There was no need to take her order, Bess ordered the same thing every time. “Two sugars, right?”
No matter how tenderly she tried, the bruise was liable to be bumped or brushed. She tried not to wince at the words.
“I saved you a seat,” He would say, even though she was working. He knew full well she shouldn’t sit during her shift but he would say it anyway and she could never say no, either. His smile had seared itself into her mind, a soft glow that warmed her better than any cup of coffee ever did. He would pour her a cup anyway, from the pot she had brought to refill his own mug. “Two sugars, right?”
That had been before rationing. That had been before the war had been set to boil when it was brewing like the dark roast that soaked every inch of this diner. It had been percolating, slowly dripping and staining their country. He had been a machinist at the shipyard’s graveyard shift and she had been a waitress at his favorite diner, that served coffee with “the prettiest smile I ever saw”. It had been a romance sweeter than any baked good in the case and more poetic than Jeannette’s Shakespeare.
She had been a different person then, just a little girl in her third house in three years. Bessie hadn’t known Mrs. Grisham’s motherly touch or the soft smile of her beau. Bessie had only known how to try and try she did.
the ‘30s hadn’t treated Bessie’s family well but she knew they weren’t special in that aspect. The world had been gripped by the choking thorns of financial strain and the vines had pulled the last strains of life out of her parents. When her father had died, Bessie had thought things would be okay. The farm she had grown up on and the family she had been surrounded with was invincible, or so she had thought. She would grow up under the bows of that oak tree that towered in the yard, swatting the swarms of yellow flies and raking up the leaves in the fall. It was her home.
But Bessie watched her family home disappear from view in the backseat of a second cousin’s car, eight years old and she had never seen her new home before. Her oldest brother, Arthur, was sent some twenty miles to the west, only twelve, to provide labor to yet another distant relative’s floundering farm. Eight years old and Bessie would never see home again.
Elizabeth Ferguson hadn’t been raised to admit defeat. As the Depression stretched on and her bags were packed and unpacked, Bessie kept trying. She made her peace with every attempt, trying hard to be useful, helpful, and liked. Her name provided a blank slate, quickly covered in her current caretaker’s preferred nickname. Elizabeth. Beth. Bess. Bessie. Lizzie. Liz. Eliza. She answered to them all and she didn’t mind, truly she didn’t. She would try her best to be what that family wanted, what that home demanded but she’d end up with the suitcase in her hand and a new route to a new home.
Elizabeth had parted ways with the last relative, the last attempt at home, at the age of eighteen. April had dawned cold that year, 1941. She had found employment with the sticky floors and chrome edgings of Charlie’s, turning up on the Grisham’s doorstep. It had been Carrie, Vera, and Estelle back then. Before the war.
Before the war. She worked hard, shoes wearing thin and bones aching when her head hit the pillows. Elizabeth had worked hard and tried to cling to what she had left, the friends she had gained, and the home she had made. Maybe if she clung to them, the one god thing wouldn’t slide away from her, finding a home in some other harbor.
She hadn’t been looking for him or anyone and yet, they had found each other. Drawn towards each other, blending and blurring in watercolor of perfection. Maybe the best pieces of art were the ones that weren’t intended.
“Has anyone seen to you two?” She had asked, whirling around on the slick tiled floor. They were a grease-stained pair, smelling of oil and sleepless nights like every machinist who crossed the line from Portsmouth for a cup of coffee after work.
“No, ma’am,” The tallest, a thin, rake of a boy who didn’t seem much older than Bessie said. His voice was soft, not loud and course like the usual Shipyard folk. “We are fine to sit for a spell-”
“Nonsense,” Elizabeth shifted the bus bucket of dirty dishes to her hip, bracing it with her arm so she could retrieve the pad and pen from her pocket. “What can I get you two?”
“Ma’am, do you need a hand?” The soft-spoken one made to reach for the bucket but Bessie raised a hand to stop him.
“It’s not heavy. I’m stronger than I look.” She smiled. “Now what can I get you two?”
Faces came and went in that little diner on the corner of College and Duke, there were the regulars and there were the strangers. Elizabeth had treated them all the same, a bright smile and a warm plate. It was the least she could do and she knew what it was to need a smile from a stranger or two. These two machinists weren’t the only blue collars who sat in the vinyl booths but she fought to keep her eyes on the paper and not straying towards the one who offered her help. The orders were taken and the niceties exchanged, Bess turned on her heel, biting her lip to keep from grinning.
As she marched towards the kitchen, his companion jabbed and teased, the blush creeping up the soft-spoken boy’s face, settling into his hairline. She
These two machinists quickly became regulars, coming back every Friday. Small talk was made and a rough sketch of their characters was established. Elizabeth had never been one to chase but it seemed the work was being done for her. Mr. Wynn and Mr. Powers returned week after week. As the months dragged by and April came and went, Mr. Powers would linger.
“Where are you from, Mr. Powers?”
“Clincho, ma’am,”
“I’ve got family out that way,” Elizabeth had said. “How long you been in the area?”
“I’ve been in Portsmouth for about a year now, I reckon,”
“I’ve an aunt in Portsmouth. Over on Bains Creek,”
“Where don’t you have family, ma’am?’
“The moon,”
He had smiled, bright and warm. Elizabeth felt like she had taken a warm cup of coffee and held it tight to her chest, fingers warming on the ceramic. The dimple on her left cheek appeared in response.
“It’s Elizabeth,” She said. “Elizabeth Ferguson.”
“Darrell Powers,”
Elizabeth had never thought that sharing a smile could be something so special. She had smiled at hundreds of patrons, offering a grin here and there until the muscles in her face hurt, all for a few extra quarters thrown on the table. Elizabeth had never expected a tip from Mr. Powers, or Shifty, as he said the boys called him. Mr. Powers, he remained to her, even on their tentative agreement to a show at the cinema on some Friday night. Mr. Powers, he would be, until he walked her home from her shift, offering her his jacket in the rainstorm that sent them racing towards the nearest porch. There, standing on a stranger’s porch, in the April rainshower, Elizabeth wrapped his jacket tighter around her disheveled uniform, breathing in the smell of cigarette smoke and oil. There, the rain beating down around them and his hair slick against his blushing face, he asked her if he could call her Elizabeth.
“Liz, Bess, I don’t care,” She said.
“Which do you like better, ma’am?”
“My brother used to call me Lizzie,” She admitted.
His eyes studied her like she was some fine painting he had spent hours perfecting and the name on his lips was the signature at the bottom, declaring the work as his. The colors could run and the ink would fade but Elizabeth Ferguson would cling to that coat in its smokey comfort. She had worn it as the rain had lightened up enough to begin their route to the Grisham front door. She wore it on the front porch and burrowed her hot face into the leather as Vera pounced on her, pounding her with questions and squeals.
Elizabeth Ferguson knew what it was to lose thing but Lizzie was willing to try and hold onto this boy as tight as she could. Lizzie was going to try her damn near hardest. This boy with his soft words and bright smile would be taken from her kicking and screaming. She allowed herself to be lulled into a sense of security, taking the two sugars in her coffee and his offered hand too. Lizzie was all bright paints and newly sharpened pencils and Shifty Powers was all steady hands and fresh paper, the perfect medium for this new home Lizzie dared dream of. She was ready to start something new, something untouched by the inevitable goodbyes.
Then the bubbling brew of Europe had overflowed into the spitting flames. Steam rose and Pear Harbor shattered like a ceramic mug on hard tiled floors. Vera left, caught up in the theatrics of secrets and intelligence and Carrie joined up, bringing her soft words and soothing hands to the wounded. Estelle left her school and allowed her talented mind to be lent to the Navy, putting together pieces of puzzles and breaking codes like they were the Sunday crossword. Lizzie wasn’t brave or smart or soft like her friends. Elizabeth Ferguson was a stumbling, bumbling trier and she grasped for the remaining pieces of that home she had searched for. She had spent years searching for family in the faces of strangers, reaching for that oak tree and rope swing in houses that would never be her home and she wasn’t about to lose it. Not to war, not to an Army, and most definitely not now.
“Don’t worry about me,” he had said, gripping her hands in his own calloused ones. He had volunteered, given himself up willingly. Lizzie could have screamed. The Airborne had terrified her, the planes and the silk chutes were terrifying. Their kiss on the Grisham Hall’s front porch had tasted like possibility and tears. He left for Georgia that morning, leaving her in Norfolk with only a pen and an empty hand.
She had told him she wouldn’t if he promised not to worry about her. She had tried not to be worried but maybe he had every reason to be worried about her.
“Bess?” Angie said again, snapping her fingers. “You good, sugar?”
“Yes, sorry,” Elizabeth said, smiling sheepishly. This diner could pull her back when she didn’t have a thought for the present.
Angie shook her head. “Baby, I think they are working you too hard over there,”
“There” was the mailroom on base. “They” were the WAVES, summoning Bess to their cause. She had joined up in April of ‘43. He had been gone for a week and Bess couldn’t stare at the booth where he had once sat for hours. She didn’t mind the work, and she told Angie so. Being surrounded by all those letters and being the reason soldiers and families heard from their loved ones was the only thing that kept Elizabeth sane. She could try and offer some peace to the fellow fretting wives and friends who longed for a letter, a word, or even a telegram that told them that he was safe.
Angie wandered back to the counter, Elizabeth’s order safely scribbled in the confines of her mind, leaving her with her thoughts and her pen. Staring at the traffic that passed outside the window, her fingers gripped the pen, sketching out the twist of his head and the twinkle of his eyes as she remembered it. As his face burned into her mind.
She didn’t draw him as often as she wanted to. Elizabeth’s sketchpads were filled with the same sketches over and over, page after page, burned into her memory. She didn’t have to look at a reference anymore, the oak trees and the slopes of the house never changed. The smiling faces and the bright eyes as she remembered them didn’t shift. Every so often, a new face would grace the pages but that wasn’t a usual occurrence and was a great honor when a stranger or new face caught her attention. Flipping through the sketchpad, Elizabeth saw his face etched into the pages. She only put pen to paper and chronicled his features on the days she missed him the most. He haunted her more than she drew, hours spent with her finger on the desk tracing out his smile.
“They said you’d be here,” Jeannette Edwards stumbled through the door, arms full of books as she slid into the seat across from Bess. In the few weeks that Jeannette had lived in Grisham Hall, she had slowly acclimated herself to the Norfolk streets.
“Jeannie,” Bess smiled, closing her sketchpad. “Estelle still working?”
Jeannette nodded. “She said to meet you here and that we’d take the bus home.”
Bess folded her letter, sliding her belongings to the side so that Angie could place her order on the sticky tabletop. The mug of coffee, two sugars carefully rationed and dissolved, and the apple pie. Offering Jeannette the fork, she encouraged her to take a bite. Bess was passionate about oil pastels and pastries, making it her mission in life to share those passions with her friends. When a pie or a drawing was offered, Bess’s trust soon followed.
“Why do you rank pie, if you don’t mind me asking?” Jeannette asked, using the side of the fork to cut a piece off of the wedge of glistening golden pie.
“Every home is the same but the apple pie is different everywhere you go.” Bess explained.“Mrs. G’s is third best, this is the second-best apple pie.”
“Who is the first place?”
“Mine,” Bess smiled.
“You are multi-talented then,” Jeannette said around the mouthful of second-best pie, dipping her head towards the sketchbook she had abandoned.
“I just doodled,” Bess shook her head but she offered the book to Jeannette all the same. Watching her thumb through the pages, Bess’s heart was wedged firmly in her throat, not daring to hope for any kind words or critique.
“These are beautiful,” Jeannette said, her fingers tracing the lines that intricate leaves that had first taken hours and now took a matter of minutes. “Where is it?”
“That’s my family’s farm.”
“You must visit often to sketch it so much,” Jeannette said.
Bess smiled, taking the sketchpad back and tucking it into her bag. Reaching for the cup of coffee, she stared into its dark depths. Maybe Jeannette knew the words to describe how she felt. Jeannette was better at words than Elizabeth.
“It’s hard to forget,” She admitted.
A knock on the window beside their booth made both women jump, the fork clattering on the shared pie plate. Estelle’s face pressed against the window as she beckoned them out, her lipstick faded after the long day hunched over the papers and codes. Estelle Tran was rarely seen with a hair out of place, much less with her signature red lipstick anything but striking against her pale skin. Bess insisted she looked like a real version of Snow White, something that Estelle had always shake her head at. Disney’s princess hadn’t been college-educated, she reminded them.
Bess dropped the money on the table and gathered up her purse and hat, waving goodbye with her fistful of gloves to the cooks and the regulars who still knew her name.
“See you next Friday, Bess,” Angie called as the door swung shut behind them.
“How was work, Stell?” Elizabeth asked, looping her arm through her friend’s as she tugged the gloves over her graphite-smudged hands.
“Heinous,”
The disheveled appearance of the usually put-together Estelle was indication enough. Bessie nodded.
“Let’s go home,” she said.
It was, in moments such as this, when rest is most needed that the world decides to test you.
The bus pulled up to its spot, just as it always did. It was a route that Bess was familiar with, a routine that she welcomed. Fridays were spent at the diner until Estelle got off of work. They would then walk home or, if particularly exhausted, take the bus. Bessie hopped inside without hesitation, ready to sit in a seat and watch the world pass by while she finished the letter she had drafted in her mind. The bus driver, a new face, said nothing as she entered. But, on the days when rest is most needed, inconvenience is the Devil’s worst weapon.
“We don’t let your people on,” The bus driver said, the passengers peering over the edge of the nest, not daring to disagree.
“I beg your pardon?” Bess looked back, seeing that he was not referring to her in her American blue uniform but Estelle. Dear Estelle with her features nothing like the usual faces of Norfolk, Virginia.
Jeannette’s mouth hung wide and Estelle froze, foot perched on the step. Her face fell and Bessie could almost hear it shatter on the pavement. The Grisham girls had been informed that Estelle’s family hailed from the Indochina islands in the Pacific and had been in America since Teddy Roosevelt’s days. She was most ardently NOT the enemy. Mrs. Grisham would sniff indignantly at such a mention and Vera, before she had left, had been known to glower at anyone who dared say such a “fucking disgusting thing”.
Bessie stepped forward, ready to give the man the facts but a hand encircled her arm, pulling her out of the bus and back on the pavement before the doors swung open. Swearing so loudly and vehemently that Mrs. Grisham would have been sent to an early grave, Bessie aimed a kick at the tire of the bus before it sped off, sans three passengers.
“It’s fine,” Estelle said.
“You aren’t Japanese!” Elizabeth growled, her shoes stomping on the pavement. Bess was a trier and she was a fighter. She was ready to try fighting for Estelle, even if that meant throwing a fist at this burly bus driver.
“It’s fine, Bess,” Estelle said.
“That was a despicable thing to do,” Jeannette fumed.
“Let’s just go home,” Estelle muttered, squashing her hat more firmly over her brow and leading the way down the street.
What good was it, Bessie grumbled to herself as she followed Estelle, to serve your country when you were still considered the enemy?
Estelle worked harder than any man and she had been working hard for many years. She had been a teacher and now fiddled with codes that boggled even the male mind. And yet, she was only seen as the enemy. Estelle Tran, by seniority or by necessity, had taken the unofficial role of den mother among the women of Grisham Hall. On the third floor, nothing went on without Estelle knowing. She guarded the girls like they were her own, a grim mother hen who warded off broken hearts and bruised feelings with wise words and her own experience. Bessie loved Estelle like she was a sister and she would have gladly punched that bus driver if she wasn’t wearing the uniform of the US WAVES. Women’s work in the war was precarious enough as it was.
Elizabeth didn’t say a word, as she slipped her hand into Estelle’s, gripping it tightly as they marched through the streets of Norfolk, their heads held as high as they could manage. She knew she couldn’t fight to change every mind or man in this country but Bessie Ferguson was a trier, through and through. Home may not have looked like that oak tree or the face she had sketched so often but she’d hold onto it as long as she could.

With Heaven Above You - Part 4
Summary: The team take a closer look at Reid’s findings to see if they can figure out where he might have been taken. Y/N feels tremendous guilt for putting him in this position, but finding something peculiar gives them their first clue…

Notes: Thank you so much again! Can’t believe all the nice comments I’ve had so far. Makes my heart swell 😊
Between the team the photograph must’ve been analysed a few thousand times. Each member kept requesting to look at it, picking it up and studying it under various light sources across the BAU. You had only looked at it the once. That was enough. The truth was that they weren’t going to find what they were looking for from the photo. It was just you taking off your microphone after the press conference. So it was highly likely that the unsub had been there, watching. JJ was making multiple phone calls to try and find the details of everyone who had signed up to be there. The truth was more harrowing. You knew that a mere 30 seconds after that picture was taken, Spencer had come over and given you a hug. A moment that you believed at the time to be private. But he had seen it. He had seen your Spencer. And he had taken him.
It was well into the night before any of you started to leave. Everyone had been running around, making phone calls, printing things off, going through case files. But you had just been sat at Spencer’s desk, curled up in his chair. You desperately were trying to think about what you could do. It was Emily who startled you out of your dream state.
“Hey, y/n, come crash with me tonight, okay? You need to try and get some sleep.”
You wanted to protest but it was no use. “Yeah, sure thing Em. Can we stop over at mine and grab a couple of things first?”
She looked a little hesitant at first. “Um, sure. But only quickly.”
From that moment on you acted without thought. It was as if a robot had taken over your body, moving your legs, walking you to the car. You couldn’t think about anything as you did it.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to get your things for you?” Emily’s voice made you jump. You hadn’t registered the entire car ride, and suddenly you were outside your apartment.
“No, but maybe come with me?” She nodded at the suggestion. You knew as soon as you walked in you were going to be wrapped up in all things him, and you weren’t sure if you could handle all the emotion.
Emily took your key from you and unlocked the door. She switched on the hall light and stepped into the apartment first, cautiously. You realised this wasn’t the first time Emily had walked into a home feeling unsettled, apprehensive. She knew just what it was like to come home and know that it wasn’t the way you left it. “I’m going to grab some of Reid’s case files to have a look at. You get what you need, take your time.”
“Thank you, Emily,” you tried to smile but your face couldn’t do it. You were so lucky to have such a wonderful friend, and one day you’d be able to show her just how much it meant to you. But not today.
You walked around uncertain, not sure what to look for. The sensible part of you was saying go pack a bag, get your things, and leave. You lingered in the living room for a few minutes, taking in all the things that reminded you of him. You saw the answering machine was flashing red. Was it really a good idea to check the message? It was probably something mundane, a cold caller. But there was a small possibility that it was him. Maybe an explanation? Your finger edged tentatively over the button. It took a few seconds before you pressed down and waited to hear what was coming next.
You’ve reached the home of Agent Y/F/N and Dr Spencer Reid, an all too familiar voice said, we can’t come to the phone right now because we’re probably fighting crime or playing chess. Leave a message after the beep!
What followed next was not what you expected. It was an almost silent message, but you could just about make out someone breathing. Some long, drawn out breathing. It lasted for about ten seconds and then the message cut out. Before you could call out a voice made you jump.
“When was that left?” Emily asked, suddenly behind you.
You squinted at the display on the machine. “This afternoon.”
“I’m going to forward this over to Garcia and see what she can get from it, you go and get the rest of your things.”
You nodded and walked into the bathroom. It was ridiculous to say that you could recognise Spencer’s breathing, but you were certain that wasn’t him on the tape. Which made it all the more unsettling as to who it actually was. Feeling tightness in your chest, you rushed over to the sink and turned on the cool water. You cupped your hands under the stream and splashed your face a few times, until the tight feeling went away. Get it together, y/n. You must do this. You need to focus.
After a few deep breaths you turned off the tap. You reached over to grab a towel from the radiator to dry your face when you saw a book lying on the bathroom floor. You crouched down to pick it up and admired it in your hands. The pages were all frayed and torn. It had been laid next to the radiator to dry after a night a few weeks ago.
“Hey! Y/N be careful, this is a first edition. I can’t take it back to the library covered in soap!”
“Listen Reid, you’re the one who decided to read during bath night. I can’t be liable for the damage that incurs.”
“Okay, fair point. But I thought you liked it when I read to you in Latin while you washed your hair? Weren’t you the one that said you wanted to learn a new language?”
“Yes Spence, a new language. A usable one. One that people still speak!”
“Statistically there are millions of people who can still read Latin. While it appears to be a dead language there is actually a large percentage of scholars and academics who use Latin in a variety of contexts… You always said you were interested in philosophy…”
“Yeah yeah, save me the lecture Dr Reid. You have until the bubbles run out to keep reading or else this book is going straight in the water…”
You were jolted out of your daydream by a knock on the door. “Y/N?” A concerned voice spoke up. “Are you okay in there?”
You quickly set the book back down and hurriedly grabbed your toothbrush and a hair tie. “Yeah Em, I’m coming now.” You made your way into the bedroom and grabbed a duffle bag. There was no thought to what you were packing, just random items that hopefully would make an outfit for the next day. You glanced over at Spencer’s pillow, his perfectly folded pyjamas, and decided to pack those as well.
It was truly painful to leave, but you knew it was for the best. By the time you made it to Emily’s it felt like it was almost morning. She poured you a large glass of wine and excused herself to go to bed, promising first that if you needed anything during the night to give her a call. You thanked her again and settled down on her sofa, wearing the buttoned-up pyjamas you’d taken from Spencer’s pillow. The glass of wine went down far too quickly, and you refilled it twice. Sleep was an impossibility at this point. You could already see morning light peaking through the gap in the curtains. That meant it wasn’t too long before you could go back to work and try and figure out what was next.
The truth was you already knew what you had to do. You were going to make another press conference, permission granted or not, and try and make yourself as appealing as possible. You were going to try and convince the career killer that the story would be far better if he took you as well as Reid. Imagine the headlines – two dead FBI agents, who were also in love! Caught in the crosshairs of the career killer! The best and most famous serial killer in the whole world! The papers would go wild for it. You knew deep down that the killer would, too. But it wasn’t going to play out that way. You were going to trade yourself for Spencer. Convince the killer it was you he really wanted. Tell him you’d give him whatever he wanted, help him put on a show. You’d let him kill you live on TV. You knew that you would do anything to get Spencer back.
You rehearsed your little inner monologue a few times. When you felt like you’d perfected it, you decided to try and think about something else for a few minutes. You remembered you’d taken the crossword puzzle book from Spencer’s desk. That would make a good distraction if he hadn’t finished them all already. You fumbled through the contents of your bag until you found it, along with a mechanical pencil. One of the corners had been turned over so you flicked the book open to that page.
Spencer had already started the crossword but hadn’t completed it. That confused you a little. It was very unlike him to leave a puzzle unfinished. You started to scan your eyes over the clues he had already filled in.
A six letter word for a season of the year synonymous with fall. Autumn. Easy. You glanced over to where Spencer had filled in the word. A-U-T-U-N-N. How had he managed to make that mistake? In all the years you knew him you hadn’t once seen a spelling error. You shrugged.
Next clue: Lion’s cry, four letters. Roar. Same again, you looked at where he’d filled it in. R-O-O-R. This couldn’t be a coincidence. You circled the incorrect letter, and the ‘n’ in autumn, and went back to the next clue.
A seven letter word for a pilot. Aviator. Spencer had filled in A-V-I-A-T-U-R. You circled the U.
Clearly reasoned, seven letters. Logical. Same spelling mistakes. L-O-J-I-C-A-L. That added a J.
Card game, five letters. Poker. P-O-K-A-R. A.
Woollen items, eight letters. Knitwear. K-N-T-T-W-E-A-R. T.
Organ of sight, 3 letters. Eye. E-Y-I. You circled and noted the I.
Desire to travel, ten letters. You had to look across at what Spencer had already written for this one. Wanderlust. But he’d spelt it W-A-N-D-E-L-R-U-S-T. Confused, you circled and noted the l and the R as they were both wrong.
He had only filled in one more clue. Calm-natured. Placid. But instead of a C, he’d written S. That left you with ten letters. You scrawled them down at the bottom of the page. N, O, U, J, A, T, I, L, R, S
N O U J A T I L R S.
What on Earth did that mean? You looked at it a few times through slightly blurry wine eyes. Why had he done this? You couldn’t quite understand what was going on. But there was something in you, a hunch, that he’d left this for you on purpose. Who else would piffle through his desk and take out a crossword book? There had to be some meaning to it. After exhausting yourself with possibilities, the tiredness took over, and you eventually fell asleep. You dreamt of those ten letters swirling around your head.
End of part 4.

Weasley vs Weasley Pt. I (Draco Malfoy x fem!Reader) [Tumblr Remaster]
Blood Status: Half-Blood or Pureblood
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 2.6k
A/N: Weasley vs. Weasley was a series of imagines I originally posted on my Wattpad. It’s one of my favorite series of imagines I’ve made, but I wrote it years ago; I wanted to make an updated version with a few new twists and in second person instead of third. I’ll be releasing it in multiple parts :) Enjoy!
You are the Molly and Arthur Weasley’s adopted daughter and in the same year as Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Not proofread, it’s 1:30am when I’m writing this! Woohoo! Enjoy!
----
The compartment sways gently side to side as the Hogwarts Express barrels down the Scottish countryside train rack. You sit silently in the train car scrunched in between Harry and the wall. Ron and Hermione sit across from you. Hermione, of course, has her nose in a book while Ron sits awkwardly, thinking of how to make conversation since the initial excitement of getting on the train has worn off. As you feel the train turn the corner, the twins knock gently on the glass of the door and slide it open, giving everyone a wave while shoving themselves in between Hermione and Ron. Ron lets out an audible grumble as Fred pushes his brother into the window.
“Hello, everyone,” Fred and George say in unison.
“Lee’s off trying to persuade some second years to be our test subjects for some prototype sweets,” Fred says, smirking.
“Yeah, our initial line was brilliant, but we’re expanding our offerings. It’s what the student body deserves,” George adds on.
“We’re also thinking of firecrackers,” Fred continues. “We’ll charm them to make shapes. Maybe a Chinese Fireball? What do you say, y/n?”
“That sounds brilliant, Freddie. You should write it down before you forget,” you smile, knowing their products have been a much-anticipated aspect of their lives lately. “You wouldn’t want to deprive the public of some much-needed mayhem causing items.”
“While we love mayhem, we’re also thinking of selling some seriously useful items. We’re thinking of importing some items from Peru that will help with being sneaky. Maybe also some muggle magic that people can use casually. We also want to be practical. Not everything will explode,” George smiles, thinking of how all their products and dreams will be soon realized.
“But wouldn’t that be brilliant if everything did explode?” Fred laughs. “Also love potions will be sold at our shops.”
“Did I hear someone say love potions?” Ginny says, poking her head in through the door. “Is that one of the products you two are cooking up?”
“Well, dear sister, we’re not brewing them. We’ll buy them from someone who’s gotten into N.E.W.T. level potions unlike us two,” Fred chuckles. “We don’t want to be liable for disastrous love potions because I’m sure they’ll be popular.”
“Our sisters won’t need them, though. It’s for the more desperate general public. They’ll have no problem finding a special someone,” George says encouragingly, shooting his two younger sisters a smile. With his words, your chest tenses, the someone you’d like to have as your special someone coming to mind. Fred and George notice your reaction immediately. They look over to you and notices how you’re clutching the hem of your jacket roughly.
“What’s with that reaction, y/n?” Ron asks, picking up on what the twins are noticing. Internally, your nerves jump. Hopefully they can’t tell who you’re thinking of.
“Nothing, Ronald,” you say almost too quickly. “I was just thinking of a dream I had about school the other night. I failed all my O.W.L.s. I’m just suffering from residual anxiety.”
“I find that hard to believe, y/n,” Fred smiles. “You don’t have stress dreams like that and you suddenly got tense when we started talking about love and special someones.”
“Do you have someone you’re hiding?” George asks, leaning in to look you in the eye with Fred. They bore into your eyes, inquisitive and intense.
“... or got anyone you fancy?” they say in synchronicity. “Come on… Tell us.”
Hermione and Harry look up from what they were doing, now completely invested in the new development.
“N-no…,” you trail off. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. You’d think badly of me.”
“We could never,” Ron butts in. They all lean closer to you, putting on the peer pressure. Fred and George suddenly tackle you, starting to clobber and tickle you. Hedwig and Pigwidgeon both hoot in protest at the sudden disturbance to their mostly peaceful journey. You struggle against the twins’ grips.
“Fred! George! Come on!” you shout protest, half laughing. You try to dash between them, but they’re too fast and lock you between them in a tight full-body hold. You squirm in their grasp but to no avail. “Fred. George. Let go. Please?”
“Not until you tell us,” they say in a sing-songy voice. You sigh. This is what you get when you have so many siblings: inescapable, coercive hugs.
“You’ll regret asking once I tell you,” you say. They shake their heads.
“Not a chance,” they say back.
“It’s…,” you start, hesitating. This’ll ruin you. You open your mouth and whisper, “it’s… Malfoy...”
“DID YOU JUST SAY ‘MALFOY?’” everyone in the compartment gasps in unison as the twins drop you.
“I told you you’d regret it,” you grumble to everyone. “Happy?”
“Not really,” Fred responds cheekily.
“Why?” Ron asks, feeling bewildered and utterly betrayed.
“I-I don’t know… I just know he it’s what he seems. I saw him one time a while ago… His owl was hurt and he was bandaging its foot. He seemed to care for it so much. There have been a lot of little things,” you explain, realizing it’s sort of hopeless as everyone stares at you, disgusted.
“Little things count for nothing,” Ron scoffs, roiling usinehes and propping his head up on a clenched fist
“It just grew. I don’t have a good reason. I’m sure it’ll fade,” you defend, “but I think that in the end, Malfoy may not be as bad as everyone makes him out to be. I’m sure we’d all have turned out like Malfoy if we had Lucius as a father.”
“But everything he stands for is so vile,” Harry says, infuriated. “I can’t believe it…”
“And what about all the stuff he’s done to Hermione?” Ron adds on.
“Come on. Now you’re ridiculing me. You walked into this one,” you quip back. “I didn’t want to say anything, but you absolutely had to know.”
“Dad’s head is going to blow off,” Fred comments, taking a seat once again.
“Percy’s also going to be furious… You know how protective he is over y/n...,” George adds, everyone nodding in agreement. Ginny, flustered, turns around and leaves the compartment in a huff.
“Is it okay if we don’t talk about this again?” you ask shyly. “I’m sure it’ll pass. This Malfoy thing is temporary. It’s stupid.”
Hermione and Harry nod in agreement, but Fred and George notice a look in your eye as you gaze out the window. They know you. They know that you lied just now. It’s not temporary.
~
As soon as it came, autumn went and turned into soft blankets of snow. You smile as you look out of your dorm room in Gryffindor tower, the icicles hanging down in front of the panes of glass. It’s been months since the awkward mishap in the Hogwarts Express. Nobody’s said a word since and things have been normal for the most part, but Ginny hasn’t looked at you the same and you’ve noticed the twins whispering to each other in low voices and suddenly stopping once they notice you. Each time, you’ve shrugged it off, assuming it’s about a prank, but a prank never came.
Today, you head out of Gryffindor tower with plans to go get a book from the library to read at breakfast and then go to Hogsmeade for a butterbeer. After getting dressed, you slip through the portrait hole and head towards the library. As you round the corner on your way, you crash into someone else.
“Oh!” you exclaim. “Sorry. I didn’t- I wasn’t looking where I was going…”
Looking up, you realize you just walked staring into Draco Malfoy, and your throat goes dry with nervousness and embarrassment.
“Uhh… Sorry, Malfoy,” you say lowly, attempting to duck to the side of him and forget that even happened. You weren’t in the mood for a nasty one on one confrontation with Draco Malfoy today.
“Wait!” you hear him say from behind you. You turn around to look at him as he walks closer.
“What are you doing? Are you going to insult me for being a clumsy lowlife?” you ask, your heart sinking. He’d never say anything nice, not in a million years no matter how much you wanted him to. “That’s what my siblings and I are used to. I wouldn’t be surprised. After all, poor people like us don’t have manners. We weren’t raised right.”
“Is that really what you think of me?” Draco asks a bit too softly, his steely grey eyes looking right into yours. You back up a step, not expecting him to look at you directly and not be shouting in your face. This is new and unexpected, but it’s what you’ve wanted for a long time.
“Well… I’ve come to anticipate it,” you reply honestly.
“That’s too bad,” Draco replies. “I’ve got a lot to learn I guess…”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I’ll tell you if you come to Hogsmeade with me,” Draco smiles. “Will you come with me?”
“Now?” you ask. “I’ven’t had breakfast yet.”
“We can get it there,” he shrugs.
“Why do you want to take me to Hogsmeade? You’re Draco Malfoy. I’m y/n Weasley.”
“All your questions will be answered there, y/n. I just want to talk to you. Do you trust me?”
Hesitantly, you nod. He holds out his arm and you take it. He leads you down to the courtyard and towards the carriages to Hogsmeade. None of them have left yet, and you both climb into the first one and then you’re off.
You both hop off in the village and go striaight to the Three Broomsticks. Draco holds the door for you and lets you sit down in the booth and get comfortable first. Madam Rosmerta comes and takes your order: two butterbeers and some food for breakfast. He smiles at you from across the table as you take a sip of the mug of butterbeer, thanking him quietly for paying. He clears his throat.
“So…” he smiles.
“So…” you say back. “Will you answer my questions?”
“Of course,” Draco replies. “I got a small note in my bag the other day. I don’t know who it’s from. It just appeared all of a sudden. It just said ‘Tell y/n the truth. Go for it, Malfoy.’ That’s all. You’re probably wondering why that brings us here. Truth is… I’ve liked you for a while now, y/n. I just needed some encouragement to say something. I’ve been so caught up with what my father wants for me for the past few years that I forgot to think about what I want to do with my life. I’ve fancied you for a while. I reckon it wasn’t obvious because of how I’ve treated you. I was just so, so obsessed with being like my father and I was confused. I needed to sort out my priorities. I’ve done some thinking lately and it’s time to make a change. That’s why I said ‘I have a lot to learn’ because I do. I just wanted to tell you the truth. I’m done being so unpleasant toward you and your family.”
Your mouth hangs completely wide open. You didn’t expect this. This might even be a dream. Draco Malfoy saying he was confused? And he’s making a change? No. You always thought that Draco would be cold and indifferent towards you for the rest of your years at Hogwarts, you’d graduate and then forget about him, settling for another person, but no. He just confessed to fancying you.
“Y/n? Please say something? I’m going out on a limb here. I’ve never been this vulnerable in my life… I know it’ll take a long time to unlearn my bad habits, and I know that not all people are willing to be that patient with someone, but I’ve known you for years. We’ve been in the same classes. You’re kind and considerate and easygoing with people. You’re compassionate and when you laugh you make me want to smile. I understand if history is against me and it’s alright if you reject me here and now, but… I just wanted to say ‘I’m sorry. Will you give me a chance?’” he pleads, reaching over the table his hand hovering over yours, scared to grab your hand and have you pull away. Still flabbergasted, you look off to the side and see nobody’s come into the Three Broomsticks yet.
“Wow… Draco… I don’t know what to say… This is so sudden,” you gasp. “I’m completely taken aback. I had no idea that you liked me… Nothing you’ve done in the past would have hinted at it. Nothing.”
“You’re right, y/n,” Draco sighs, ready to admit defeat, thinking this is hopeless.
“Are you serious about this? Your confession?” you ask. “ Tell me the truth.”
“Absolutely.” His reply is sound. His eyes look into yours warmly. With remorse. You begin to smile softly at him.
“Okay, Malfoy. I’ll give you a chance,” you decide with a nod. With your words, Draco explodes with glee, slapping the table with excitement.
“Thank you, y/n!” he blurts out. “You will not regret this.”
“I sure hope I don’t,” you smile. “Now, how about we finish eating and walk around a bit?”
Draco grins like a kid who’s just sneaked five handfuls of cookies from the cupboard and nods, taking a sip from his drink. As you two sit across from each other, you share pleasant conversation, laughing about family and school. You laugh about how you’re both almost complete opposites. He’s a Slytherin; you’re a Gryffindor. You have seven siblings; he has none. You’re adopted; he’s not. You laugh and joke. You share stories from your past and your heart warms, enjoying having someone new to talk to who makes you feel unlike you ever had before. You can’t remember a day that you smiled this much.
After you’re done in the Three Broomsticks, you both walk around the village, going into Honeydukes and Zonko’s. The day comes to a close and you both agree to do it again sometime. As you both go your separate ways you both fail to notice Fred, George, and Ginny spying on you from around the corner.
“That’s what I call a success,” Fred smirks to his siblings. Ginny scowls in your direction as you disappear down the hallway towards Gryffindor tower.
“I’m glad the note worked. The three months of spying on Malfoy to see if he fancied her was exhausting. We had to use Omnioculars to see him writing in his paper his initials and y/n’s with a heart in his notebook from above,” George sighs, exhausted. He looks over to his sister, whose grumbling to herself under her breath. “What’s gotten into you, Gin?”
“Why’d you two go to all this trouble for someone so toxic?” Ginny asks. “This will only end in disaster. Y/n and Draco Malfoy together can only end in a dumpster fire. He’s not a good influence.”
“You sound like Mum, Ginny,” Fred retorts. “Y/n seemed to be satisfied with today and that’s enough. I haven’t seen her smile so much in a long time. Last time she smiled like that was when Georgie and my products first arrived.”
“Why are you going to so much trouble for her?” Ginny asks glumly. “She was perfectly happy before.”
“Well… Georgie and I talked about it. Y/n’s always felt a little bit alone and in the middle of things. Even though we love y/n and she loves us, she’s self-conscious about being adopted sometimes. When we’re all together, she can be quiet sometimes. She gets lonely and doesn’t feel like she belongs even though she completely does. She’s a Weasley, after all, but she feels like the other Weasley. We’ve noticed her feeling like that lately and we wanted to make her happy. Someone she can maybe identify with on a personal level other than us,” Fred explains, careful of his wording.
“What’s there do identify with when it comes to Malfoy?” Ginny grumbles, refusing to believe that y/n could possbly relate to someone as vile and cruel as Draco Malfoy
“Maybe not identify with. Maybe just to have around. Having that other person that you enjoy the company of,” George adds.
“Why did it have to be Malfoy?”
“Relationships can stem from the most unlikely of places,” George reasons.
“This is trouble, you two. Y/n doesn’t need him. She has her family. How can she feel lonely in our family when there’s so many of us. You’re meddling with y/n’s emotions because you don’t think ahead. This needs to be fixed,” Ginny decided, turning on her heels while trying to compile her course of action. The twins look at each other with a worried expression. What is Ginny thinking of doing?

New Years in Sailor Moon
Happy New Year, everybody!
I thought I might take this time to talk about how we briefly saw New Years was celebrated in Sailor Moon, which turned into a crash course in Japanese/Shinto New Years traditions. Plenty of pictures and links below!
New Years (o-shougatsu) was celebrated most visibly in the live action series, where we got to see the girls - Usagi, Ami, Rei, and Makoto, since Minako hadn’t yet joined up with them - celebrating in a very traditional sense in Act 14; only they didn’t actually get to celebrate on the “real” New Years, because as we saw in the previous episode, Rei, a dedicated Shinto priestess, was busy getting Hikawa Shrine ready for the many people who would be visiting.
Hatsumode is the first visit to a Shinto shrine of the new year, a tradition which many Japanese families observe. Larger shrines will even organise festivals around the event, but even smaller shrines like Hikawa will see a massive bump in visitors - which means a sharp increase in sales, too, which requires extra work, so Makoto and Ami volunteered to help.
... Even if they weren’t too happy when Usagi failed to show up as promised.
Ami is preparing wooden ofuda wrapped in protective paper. Most Sailor Moon fans are already familiar with the concept of ofuda, as Rei uses paper ones to ward off Youma and other monsters, but these are destined for people’s homes.
Ofuda are basically charms of protection - hence why Rei uses them to guard against monsters who mean to cause harm - and these wooden ones are to be placed above doorways, near significant objects, or housed within special kamidana altars. They can be purchased year-round but are typically “renewed” once a year, so it’s natural Rei is expecting to sell a lot.
Makoto is helping to braid shimenawa, sacred cords of rice straw/hemp rope that are either wrapped around or hung over the entrance of a space that is deemed sacred/pure. This can mean a building, such as Hikawa Shrine itself, or an individual object liable to house a spirit, such as a sacred tree or rock. These ones are quite large, so they’re probably going to be used to decorate the shrine, but smaller shimenawa can be used to decorate a household shrine/altar, too.
On the table we can see two more popular Shinto shrine souvenirs. The first is ema, wooden plaques that you write your wish/dreams/hopes/goals on and hang at a shrine along with everyone else’s plaques, creating a wall of wishes. These are popular year-round, but the influx of visitors means an influx of ema, too.
Ema played a more significant role in Act 8, where Usagi sends Makoto to Hikawa Shrine to hang her plaque for her (as a ruse to get her and Rei to make up after an argument).
Left: The blank side of the plaque on which Usagi has written her wish (to win the NakoNako mascot plush toy). Middle: The back of the plaque, mass-printed with a generic design, in this case sheep since November 2003 (the original airdate) was in the Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram. Right: Rei stands before a wall of ema other shrine visitors have tied up.
If you were wondering whether Usagi’s little illustration of a cartoon character is normal or not - it very much is, and only getting more normal. “Ita-ema,” in the same vein as ita-bags and ita-cars, are ema that have been decorated with various anime characters. It’s become so popular that even officially branded anime ema are being released, including, for the first time, an official Rei Hino/Sailor Mars ema available at the Sailor Moon Store in time for 2020.
Source: http://sailormoon-official.com/store/post_852.php
The last souvenir is a pile of hamaya, lit. “demon-destroying arrows.” These good luck charms come from the tale of Yorimasu Minamoto vanquishing a demon that threatened the Emperor - his bow and his arrows were declared sacred, and ever since, bows and arrows have been thought to frighten off evil spirits. Hamaya are popular souvenirs to give to children, traditionally boys, but increasingly so with girls.
The bow & arrow’s connection with demon-slaying and sanctity is probably why Sailor Mars herself uses a flaming bow & arrow to attack after her Super power-up.
In addition, Rei sold plenty of omamori, the small, portable, cloth versions of the larger ofuda charms. Again, most Sailor Moon fans are familiar with the concept of these small charms, as they were a plot point in Rei’s introductory episode of the classic Anime.
Left: Rei buried under an avalanche of dropped omamori in PGSM. Middle: The inauspicious omamori in the classic Anime. Right: Real life omamori from one of the Hikawa Shrines (different spelling, same pronunciation) in Tokyo that inspired Sailor Moon’s Hikawa Shrine.
There are a variety of different omamori in different sizes, shapes, and colours intended to offer the bearer protection against different concerns. There are omamori for love, relationships, and good luck with exams, as well as plenty for general protection. Again, these are available and popular year-round, but would make cheap and eye-catching souvenirs for the new Shrine visitors. It’s considered very bad luck to attempt to open up an omamori and look inside, even though they appear as small cloth bags.
Another tradition for those visiting a shrine on New Years is to get your fortune told by a randomly-picked slip of paper, an omikuji. If you don’t like the fortune you get, you can try and undo its bad luck by tying it around the branches of a pine tree or nearby wall of other bad fortunes. The Japanese word for pine tree, matsu, sounds the same as “to wait”, so by tying your fortune to a pine tree, you’re telling the fortune to wait there instead of following you. Though it wasn’t at New Years, Rei herself demonstrated this practice when she drew a bad fortune in episode 90 of the classic Anime.
So that’s the New Years Hikawa Shrine prep - phew! But how did the girls celebrate “New Years” together?
They all got together in their secret hideout under Crown Karaoke for snacks, drinks, and a good old-fashioned party!
The girls all wore perfectly colour-coordinated kimono, which are very traditionally worn when visiting a Shrine for hatsumode.
They decorated the room with two kadomatsu, arrangements of pine and bamboo cuttings placed in pairs that attract and provide temporary housing to spirits and invite good fortune, along with more hamaya and a kite, which are often flown for fun (“tako-age”) around New Years.
Hanging in the centre of their screen is a shimekazari, a decoration utilising a smaller shimenawa sacred rope that guards against evil spirits just like the larger version. It’s adorned with various items of good luck, including a lobster (symbolising longevity due to its impressive lifespan), pine needles (longevity again, since they’re evergreens), and a daidai citrus fruit (“dai dai” sounds similar to “from generation to generation”, again implying longterm success), flanked by two zig-zagged shide streamers.
They also have a kagami mochi display, two round mochi rice cakes sitting on top of each other on a sanpou stand, adorned with leaves and dried persimmons. Normally, kagami mochi are topped with a daidai (real or fake) or a more-widely-available mikan, but their kagami mochi is topped with... Luna!
On the wall we can see that each girl has written a kakizome - lit. “first writing” - where people write kanji, phrases, or poetry which they feel are lucky. The scrolls are then traditionally burned on January 14th. They might’ve been told to make some kakizome as part of their Winter holiday homework, but as this is a “fake” New Years celebrated around Feburary, these might not be the same ones.
It’s an interesting snippet of characterisation to see what kanji/phrase/poetry each character considers personally auspicious! From the left:
Rei: 悪霊退散 (Akuryou Taisan, “Foul Spirit Begone”)
No surprises here - this is the phrase Rei chants when she uses her paper ofuda to disperse an evil spirit, and to attack Youma once transforming into Sailor Mars. As you can tell from her handwriting, she’s very used to writing out these kanji! It’s easy to understand why she might feel that this was her lucky phrase.
Makoto: 質実剛健 (Jitsu Jitsu Gou Ken, lit. “Temperament, Sincerity, Health”)
This is an example of Chinese poetry in kakizome. Makoto’s gone for an older phrase, but you can understand why it would resonate with her, as her name also translates to “sincerity”. The literal meaning of the phrase is somewhat abstract, but could be translated into something like “May You Be of Level Head and Good Health”. It’s also more of a masculine phrase, fitting for the ultra-tomboyish Makoto in PGSM.
Ami: 友達 (Tomodachi, “Friends”)
Ami has gone for a singular kanji/word rather than a whole phrase, and it makes sense why she’s picked this one. Her character arc so far has revolved around her making friends who don’t just want to use her for her connections/grades, and learning how to navigate sincere “friendships” for the first time in her life. The word obviously carries a lot of weight for her without needing to be part of a longer phrase.
Usagi: 初日の出 (Hatsuhi no De, lit. “First Sunrise of the Year”)
Witnessing the first sunrise of the new year is very commonly/popularly observed in Japan. Legend goes that the God of New Years, Toshigami, comes out with the first sunrise of the new year, and that if you make a wish during the sunrise it will come true in the following year. It’s very befitting of Usagi that this optimistic and wishful tradition would be what sticks out to her the most!
Also, you may have noticed that Usagi’s handwriting is somewhat different from the others - while kakizome are typically written in very traditional calligraphy, Usagi is obviously far too dedicated to following the “cutesy writing” trend (marui ji, lit. “round letters”), as indicated by her excessively rounded shapes (compare the sharp corners of Makoto’s 質 vs. Usagi’s rounded 日) and little heart doodles. Cute to the core!
And so what did they do after hanging up all of these traditional, thoughtful New Years decorations...?
Pulled it all down to have a killer karaoke party, obviously!
After all’s said and done, New Years in Japan is still a time to have fun with and connect to your loved ones. While New Years in other countries is considered a prime time to go on a date, especially to have someone to kiss at midnight, New Years in Japan is a time for friends and family (interestingly, Christmas has become something of a “date event” in Japan instead).
So there you have it! Maybe you’ve already learned something new this early in the new year!
🎊 🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉 🎊
🎊 🎉 Akemashite Omedetou! 🎉 🎊

Failing | Yoongi Imagine
I was listening to the song "I Wanna Know" by The Hunna and was instantly inspired to write this AU. It's such a bop, I encourage you all to listen!
Preview: You've been feeling neglected, and you're ready to give up. But, Yoongi doesn't give up easily.
Genre: Mafia/gang AU, some angst and fluff
Warnings: Nothing much, mentions of violence/drugs
****
You were fully aware things had not been going well the last 6 months. The gang had lost some valuable hideouts to rivals, a couple members defected, and some profit loss. When things aren't going the way Yoongi wanted them to, everyone around him paid the price. You couldn't remember how many people you've watched him verbally degrade and physically slap around.
You were lucky enough to have the prestigious position of being his girl, so he didn't do anything that drastic to you. It was more like...emotional warfare. He came to bed late, left early, and probably had only spoken two or three sentences to you recently. And they weren't exactly warm and fuzzy.
You didn't require much affection. You knew getting into this lifestyle you weren't going to get a boyfriend who brought you home roses and took you to nice restaurants. Those things didn't matter to you anyway. The only thing that did was him.
It was Friday evening at about 10pm when there was a light knock on your door.
"Come in?" You said hesitantly, confused who would be knocking on the door.
"Hey." Hoseok's voice rang out as he slid the door open.
"Oh, hey." You half smiled; it was really the best you had to give anyone these days.
"I hadn't seen you in a few days, I got nervous." He admitted sheepishly, standing in the door way.
"Yeah, I haven't wanted to be around anyone. Is Yoongi around?" You asked cautiously, though you knew the answer.
"He left around 7pm, saying he had to take care of something. Just took a couple guys and one of the cars." Hoseok shrugged, looking as defeated as you felt. He sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed next to you.
"Don't take it personally. I haven't seen him for more than five minutes in the 6 months." You replied.
"Wow, really?" Hoseok looked shocked. "I always figured you were his weak spot."
"I used to be, but I don't know whats happening. He doesn't speak to me, hell he doesn't even look at me if he sees me around the compound." You spat, clearly feeling the emotions you'd been shoving down rising up.
"You've never called it a compound before." Hoseok pointed out. Fine, technically it was a mansion. But it was the main base for the gang, as well as where you resided with Yoongi.
"I can't call it home. He's what makes it home. And he's not really here." You said. "I can't take it anymore."
If you were a crier you'd probably be crying, but this life had hardened you.
"I think I'm going to leave." You finally said.
"That's crazy, Y/N." Hoseok retorted, practically choking on his saliva.
"Is it? Would he even notice?" You replied, looking at him.
"Of course he would. And how would you even get out with all the guards? And where would you go?" Hoseok looked slightly panicked.
"Pretend you didn't talk to me tonight. You can't be liable for knowing information about me if I'm successful." You stated, standing up. "Just go."
Hoseok stood up with you, and stared at you hard for a few moments. "Don't do this to him."
"He's fine." You crossed your arms tightly.
"We both know he wouldn't be...It's just a phase." He tried to defend his best friend and boss.
"6 months isn't a phase! I was patient. The first few months, I figured he'd snap out of it. But it's been half a year. How much of my life am I supposed to spend being ignored by the man I love?" You asked softly, avoiding Hoseok's gaze.
Without another word, he nodded slightly and left your room. He couldn't bare the idea of saying goodbye and he was hoping you would calm down and change your mind.
You felt a moment of bravery after finally getting your feelings off your chest. You grabbed a bag out of the closet and starting shoving clothes into it. You couldn't think clearly on what you needed. You looked around the room frantically, trying to figure out what to take. Your head was so foggy with sadness and fear that you couldn't collect yourself enough to form a plan.
The door crashing open caused you to jump and drop the bag, spinning to face the bedroom door.
"Y/N." Yoongi said flatly, looking down at the bag.
You swallowed hard and couldn't find words to spit out. What were you going to say? You were caught red handed.
His eyes never left the bag.
"What are you doing?" He asked, low and stern. Still not meeting your eyes.
You started to stutter out an answer but he cut you off.
"You...were going to leave me?" His eyes snapped up to meet yours. He tilted his head to the side, and waited for an answer, no emotions on his face.
"Yes." You answered, regaining your composure. You straightened your shoulders and stared him down confidently. Now wasn't the time to come off weak.
To your surprise, he chuckled lightly. You watched him carefully.
He grabbed the picture frame off the table next to the door and threw it, the sound of the glass shattering made you jump.
"Yoongi..." You warned, trailing off.
"It's been almost three years, and you're going to leave over a rough patch?!" He shouted, and you were sure the whole compound could hear him.
"A rough patch!?" You yelled back, your fiery spirit matching his. "It's been 6 months! How long did you expect me to deal with this shit?"
"Deal with what?! You live comfortably. You don't have to work. You have more money then most people ever see in their life." He explained, exasperated, fists balled up at his sides.
"Well, I don't care about any of those things! All I wanted was you to love me!" You screamed at him.
He span around and punched the wall behind him. You heard a crack, presumably his knuckles, but he didn't falter. He leaned his forehead against the wall and punched it one more time. When he retracted it you could see the blood dripping down his fingers.
"All of this...because you think I don't love you?" He whispered. He turned around and there were tears in his eyes. You had never seen Yoongi cry. You don't think anyone had.
You swallowed all the mean things you had to spit out the moment you saw tears dripping down his cheeks.
"Why do you think I've been so absent? It's because I was failing, Y/N. I was failing you and everyone that relies on me. How could I face you when everything I promised could've been lost? I put my head down and went to work to preserve our future. I'm sorry that that was uncomfortable for you, even though I was the one risking my life day in and day out so some day I would be able to look you in the eye again!" He shouted, stepping towards you, grabbing your face with his hands. "Those were all things out of love for you, whether you're strong enough to acknowledge it or not." He growled, his face inches from yours.
You breathed out, locking eyes with him. "You could've included me! I would've been there for you." You exclaimed, wrapping your hands around his wrists and pulling them off your cheeks.
"I had to do a lot of dangerous things. You think I was going to put you in harms way just so you could feel needed?" He spat. "That's immature thinking. I did what I did to protect you. And if you hate me for that, that's fine. At least I know I kept you safe." He sighed in defeat, his tear stained face making your breath catch in your throat.
Everything about you wanted to be angry and stand your ground...
You opened your mouth to speak, but he beat you to it.
"Do you know what I'd have to do if I ever lost you?" He asked, stepping towards you once more, but keeping his hands to himself.
You hesitated before speaking. "...tell me."
He reached for your hand and took it in both hands.
"I'd have to destroy everything that reminded me of you. I'd burn this place down." He looked up at you, the connection you two had always had making itself known with a gravitational pull you couldn't resist. You took your free hand and grabbed the front of his shirt and yanked him to you, crashing your lips together. He immediately responded, grabbing your face and deepening the kiss. Every emotion you felt in the last half of a year poured into the kiss. It was rough, needy, passionate. He pulled away and inhaled.
"Yoongi. You need to either live life with me by your side, or spend the rest of your life wondering where I am. I'm not asking you to drag me into every fight and drug deal. But you made me strong. You toughened me up. So embrace it, and let me be with you." You explained, hoping your words didn't fall on deaf ears.
He stared deeply in your eyes, before exhaling slowly.
"Fine." He agreed stubbornly. "You don't get to leave, then." He huffed, crossing his arms. You giggled, you knew you are the only one who ever saw him with his guard down.
He reached out a hand to you, and you obliged, giving him your hand. As soon as he did, he pulled you towards him and wrapped one arm around your waist, and the other hand resting on the back of your head.
"How did you know I was packing?" You asked into his chest.
"Hoseok is my best friend, not yours." His chest rumbled with a chuckle.
"Damn it."

Hello Again
Part 1 of (maybe 2?)
W/C: 8k
Summary: Gwilym has always been around, somewhere in the background of your fast-moving life. But when summer comes along, you finally slow down enough to take a closer look.
Warnings: Allusion to/ Mentions of alcoholism? Nothing too horrific!
A/N: I’m writing again! Rather, finally getting around to uploading things I’ve had written for ages. There will be a second part to this in the very near future! Please enjoy my hopeless fantasizing, gang! (and don’t be afraid to let me know if you do!) _
You had nearly forgotten all about your past twenty-three years of living, on your rampage through the American desert: and that was your mission... To focus on nothing besides soaking up every the last ray of the blistering hot sun before summer vacation was over, and you had to start senior year of college. You were a history major and initially had big dreams of becoming a librarian or a museum director, so that you could enjoy immense hushed quiet all day before going out with your best girlfriends at night.
You loved to take it easy, especially after a night of partying so hard. You and your friends had established yourselves as the college's most wild group up until earlier this year when you nearly KO'd after staying in the hospital for a month due to alcohol poisoning. You took the school year slow, and when summer came, you piled your three closest friends and took off on a stereotypical road trip. Good, clean fun.
When you weren't driving, your trip was mainly spent poolside, humming along to the static radio Francine toted along with her everywhere. The battery-powered thing would even work in the car sometimes, which came in handy as your vintage mustang wasn't equipped with a port for an aux cord or a radio that worked any longer.
Francine spread her gangly legs across Emma's lap in the back while Tilly sat in your passenger seat, flexing her map reading muscle on a mission to be totally directionally literate by the end of the road trip across the southwest. But then your car broke down forty miles deep into death valley and you all had to cram your belongings and yourselves into the back of a cab. Other friends might not have survived being squished together like sardines. But you made it to the Vegas airport without a foul word between the bunch of you.
Granted, Emma started to cry because the cab smelt of ham and Tilly's beloved map blew across the sandy horizon as you sat on the roadside, waiting to be rescued. You all relied on each other to keep a cool head, like always.
Your three roommates were sometimes too much to handle at once, but over the past three years of college and dates and sickness and flunked classes, you'd be lost without your best friends.
Once you all got back home to California with a bundle of stories to tell and a lot of left over time to fill up, the only thing to do was crash.
Luckily, your brother's fancy new home was the closest and coolest stop. So you decided to take over his pool house like you were still on some kind of adventure.
"How's your brother so well off? And is he well off.. in other areas?" Francine pipped up. She blew away some of her frizzy strands of hair that made her seem like the coolest hippie alive, with a name to match. Her boldness never faltered in style or speak.
"Hm, strange I've suddenly lost my hearing." You quipped, grossed out by the thought of your brother being lusted after.
"Just don't bother him, okay? I'm welcome in the pool house without question so none of you are allowed to mess this up for us!" You informed. Your brother, Daniel, bought the house earlier in the year sometime when a film project he was apart of paid off pretty well. You'd forgotten anything to do with his big winnings in your previously alcoholic state.
"Oh, just go shower! We're gonna search through the movie cabinet and bask in the glow of this projector." Emma beamed.
The pool house was a studio with a tiny square marble kitchen, a living room complete with a bunch over oversized beanbags, and two twin beds hidden in the sunken pit lounge area. The space was designed in the '70s and the golden shag carpet still remained to prove it. This was the faux frat house your brother escaped to when the fancy chandelier in his adjacent home shone a little too brightly for his liking. The best part of the pool house was the film projector and the massive pull-down screen, like a tiny personal movie theater. Though your brother was a bigger fan of dated television series', a few classic films found their way into his collection on the wall-length shelf.
You left the hip space to take a breather in the grey tiled bathroom, taking your time washing off the sheen of dust and sweat your road trip disaster left you in. When you returned to the living room to take Emma's place on the sofa while she scampered to the shower, the girls had popped in some movie of their liking.
"Top End Wedding. I've never heard of it." Tilly called from the floor, crawling around to put the disc in the player. She had already placed the cover back into its rightful spot on the shelf.
"What's that even mean?" Francine wondered, snuggling under a furry blanket.
"Shut up and find out like the rest of us." Tilly offered, plopping back against a florescent bean bag.
You chuckled as the movie started, but turned your attention your cell phone after it started too buzz. There was an email from the death valley mechanic addressing the problems he had to fix in order to get your car running again. You typed back a response in a hurry. When your friend's giggles cut through your focus, you clicked your phone off and turned your attention back to the film.
You'd completely missed the first scene, catching only glimpses of lush green islands and a lady with a broken high heeled shoe. But then a familiar voice spoke up.
"I have to take her to court?" Gwilym Lee was on the screen. Of course, he was. He appeared unmistakably himself... but much different from the last time you recalled seeing the man.
You silently chuckled to yourself, wondering whatever became of your brother's best friend. After Daniel and Gwilym finished grad school together, Gwilym was apparently apart of a few major British productions and a well off guy. But between your focus on college and some extra wild nights out, you'd barely seen your brother outside of holiday celebrations. So Gwyilm was hardly ever brought up in conversation. Or maybe he was, and you were just too maxed out to register. Be that as it may, the blue-eyed man was on the screen now... looking rather grown-up.
"My God he's a catch am I right?" Tilly pipped up, sipping vodka she'd found in the mini-fridge. Did she really think so? Dear old Gwilym?
"Look at him! That actress is so tiny next to him, God. Imagine being pinned between him and a wall." Francine swooned, in her usual lovestruck wonder.
And the intrusive thought was frightening to you. Because it seemed almost appealing. Gwilym hugged you goodbye once, some odd years ago. His strong arms were certainly brought a comfort you could still recollect.
"Confirmation that we're all hot for this Ned character?" Tilly turned her pretty feathery head of hair to you. You were busy bitting your thumbnail and wondering when Gwilym had gotten so buff.
"Huh? Oh yeah, Ned's cool." You nodded emptily.
"Pfft!" Francine spat, sitting up and leaning across a pillow toward you. "Get your head out of your car troubles and look at this fine British hunk!"
"I thought this was an Austrian film?" Tilly wondered.
"He's clearly British! Listen up! Haven't you paid attention during the world's fair week?" Francine rang, lifting her own glass of vodka toward the screen.
Your phone buzzed again and you desperately hoped it was the man who would assure your car was liable and you could pick it up and drive it through the desert some more before summer vacation ended. But instead, your brother's name blinked across your dim screen.
Daniel: Are you in the pool house? Come inside for a second. Leave the sorority behind. (No offense)
"I'll be right back. Pools open! Just don't come in the house!" You called out the rules your brother gave you the first time you stayed here. Your friends groaned. You scurried out the window paneled door and across the stone packed pathway to Daniel's deck. The back porch light was on and its reflection glistened off the pool. Was he going to be pissed that you remembered where he hid the spare key and tell your gang to leave? Did he just want to say hello? If he did, why wouldn't he just come out to greet you?
You knocked a couple of times to warn of your requested intrusion. The kitchen was empty and dark but there was a chatter coming from the living room. Your brother must have had company. Why did you need to come in here?
That's when Vinny and Violet came bounding up the basement staircase toward you in a fluffy flurry. They were sibling Burmese Mountain dogs whose nails were clicking against the cherry wood floor as they pranced below your feet; a very excitable greeting.
"Y/N? Come in here!" Daniel's low timbre was heard in from the living room and the sound of clinking glasses followed. Your brother Daniel was standing from his luxurious leather sofa, smiling and gesturing you into the room. On the other side of the sofa was a man you hadn't seen in years, but had just been reminded of only moments ago.
"Gwil is in town! I thought I heard you outside and we were just talking about you."
Oh my God. He was hot. You tried to stifle your shock at the stone-carved beauty of a brother's best friend that rose to his feet before you.
"Hello, again Y/N! Looking very comfortable." Gwil's voice was silky and wonderfully British. The accent would always catch you off guard. But his enchanting voice only reminded you how silly you must have looked in your sad excuse for pajamas. You wore tattered sweat pants and a torn-up tshirt that bared too much of your collar bone to be deemed appropriate.
And the angelic Gwilym was in well-fitted slacks and a dress shirt, blue eyes glimmering, muscles rippling past his perfect clothes.
"Hi, Gwil!" You chimed, really mustering the strength to sound normal. But what was normal between the pair of you? You'd met him a total of three times.
"Why are you all the way over in this part of town?" Daniel wondered, shifting his weight and glancing at you.
"My car broke down in death valley and your place was closest. Hope it's alright if we crash for the night?"
"I left the pool house key out for a reason! It's never a bother. I like that you're comfortable enough to stay. Roxanne never even comes over." Daniel complained about your middle sister. Roxanne was an unassuming girl with an interest in botany that left her camped out in national parks for weeks at a time. Your sister would talk about plants little to nothing else, besides her terrible crush on Gwilym Lee. A shameless attraction you'd all too suddenly understood.
"How's she?" Gwilym asked with a knowing smile. She could never hide the way she melted in Gwil's presence.
"She's been the movies this year, if that's what you're asking." Daniel chortled. You wondered for a moment if the film your friends had found in the cabinet was one that made it to theaters. Was Gwilym finally featured on the big screen? And did Roxanne really still have that girlish crush?
"She's been seeing a lot of that Max guy, actually. I know because she does, in fact, call me every weekend." You chided, looking to Daniel with a smile.
"Yeah to make sure you're not dead." Daniel retorted. He was never a fan of your wild streak. Bless him. "She's always up to something crazy. Practically Instagram famous." Daniel buffed your confidence, gushing over his very own kid sister.
"I have a few thousand followers, it's really not uncommon." You assured your brother, who'd never gotten more than twelve likes on his own posts.
"Cute." Gwilym smiled. He looked you up and down and if you weren't sporting the world's nastiest pajamas. You'd dare to wonder if he liked what he saw.
"Well I better get back were-" You caught your breath and tore your curious gaze away from your brother's best friend. "...having quite the girls night."
Daniel nodded in response.
"You staying for a while? See you around?" You asked Gwilym. You were a naturally curious girl, and Gwilym Lee was extremely easy on the eyes. Why wouldn't you want to look a little longer?
"Yeah, I'll be in town. See ya around, kid." Gwilym's perfect smile was photograph worthy. But that remark stung. You were just Daniel's littlest sister, to Gwilym.
Later that evening you excused your bout of absence with some white lie about your brother needing help with his dogs after a bath.
The death valley mechanic eventually emailed you with good news, so you text your brother and asked if he could take you through the desert on a mission to get your car back. He happily agreed to take you and to let the girls take over the pool house for the day.
///
Your eyes fluttered open, blinded by the sharp white rays of sun boomeranging off the pool and into the window by your bed. Emma was passed out on the adjacent bed, snoring peacefully. There were more shuffles and chatter from the level above you and you knew the other girls were awake. You heard muted squeals and high pitched whispers floating through the pool house, and among them, a lower voice grumbled.
"Y/N! Ned's here!" Francine's unmistakably excited voice rang out.
"Oh, lovely!" You heard Gwilym let out a far off chortle.
Shit. What! Why? You bolted out of the twin bed and up the couple of steps, feet flying over the inexplicable shag carpet toward the double doors.
Gwilym was dressed for the day, in khaki shorts, a white short-sleeved button-up, and turtle framed glasses hiding the sparkle of his sea-blue eyes. And he was standing in the doorway with that stupid smirk, looking right at you.
"Gwil! Hi?" You reasoned, shouldering past Francine who was clutching the open door frame with her jaw hovering just above the floor.
"I texted you a bunch- but I see you were still asleep." Gwilym grinned, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Is everything alright?" You wondered suddenly. You didn't even care that your hair was sticking in different directions, and the man had already seen your atrocious excuse for pajamas.
"Well, Dan got called into work. Left in a big hurry and asked if I'd help you out today. Fancy a lift? He took his SUV. Left the Buick." Gwil actually smirked, like he was making a sweet deal.
That's when Emma let out a gasp from somewhere behind you. She'd spent the first half of Top End Wedding in the shower, but quickly joined your friends to gush over the main character upon her joining the film
Gwilym's eyes left yours for a moment to glance over your shoulder to the house full of girls.
"Uh... alright." You gave a nervous grin, realizing you didn't really have another option. Daniel trusted Gwilym with his vehicle. If he caught one of your college friends behind the wheel of his car, he'd blow a gasket for certain.
"Uh, give me a minute to get my self together?" You nodded to Gwilym. The pair of you had never really spent any kind of quality time with each other. Only sat beside each other during dinners out with your brother's friends and across the living room sharing jokes. This was very different. Did you trust Gwil?
"Sure. I'll wait here if you lot don't mind." Gwil turned his bright gaze to Francine who's chipped nails were still digging into the open door. The girl gave a subtle nod, watching Gwil creep toward the kitchen counter.
"What the hell is going on?" Tilly laughed as you gestured past her.
"Secrets out! Gwil is a family friend. Please don't freak him out." You groaned, scooting to the bathroom. Tilly gapped at you as you spun into the bathroom to pull yourself together.
After finding an old Sargent Pepper tshirt in your bag and managing your hair into a suitable fashion, you hurried back out of the bathroom to hit the road; praying that your friends hadn't corned Gwilym.
The girls were scattered around the kitchen, leaning against counters with their eyes plastered on Gwil. He was like a wonder of the world. An uncovered treasure splayed out in the open.
You had spotted your sandals by the counter and were stepping into them as Tilly asked daft questions to Gwilym about how he knew me, and just exactly how rich he was. The man answered Tilly with grace and caution. Was he really so easy-going? After apologizing profusely and shooting daggers to your girlfriends it was time to go.
"You can use the pool and the dogs will probably hang out. Francine, you're in charge of disaster prevention!" You pointed your way out of the door, as Gwilym followed with a chuckle. Funnily enough, the brash girl was the clearest head in times of trouble.
Gwilym shuffled toward the garage and as you passed into the musty room, feeling a little sick to your stomach.
"Gwil, are you sure this is how you want to spend your day? I don't want to ask too much of you."
"Oh get in the car. I haven't got a thing to do until Dan gets back tonight. There's no harm in a little road trip, is there?"
"Three hours one way. This is your last chance to back out."
Gwilym was already behind the wheel, buckling his seat belt with a smile. You had no choice but to shrug and scramble in the passenger. At least this ride had a radio.
Five minutes in.
"Where's my turn?" Gwilym panicked, steering the wheel sharply to swerve out of the way of roadkill.
"Next exit. When did you learn to drive in the States? Yesterday?" He was almost too quick to react.
"Ha. Ha." Gwilym produced a dry laugh, speeding up ever so slightly. "Last year. A couple of mates and I spent the summer driving around this very desert, I'll have you know."
"Hmm, I see." You smiled as you tried to picture Gwilym going on some great adventure. As far as you knew, his work was his life. Must be some pretty important pals to have tricked the tall man into having a little long-lasting fun. Was he always so cute when he smiled like that?
20 minutes later.
"It's too late now Gwilym. We're already on the freeway and the next exit is only a private ranch."
"But I want a soda so bad." The Englishman whined. For some reason, that surprised you. You realized you really didn't know this guy at all. But you really wanted too. So you promised Gwilym you'd track down the closest fast-food spot and started into an easy-going conversation.
"What would you be doing today if I wasn't in such desperate need?" You teased but you really wanted to know more about the man. The pretty, pretty man.
"Back home? Probably spending the day at a sports game. Having a few drinks at night. Maybe a film to wrap up the evening? That or working I'm sure."
"Yeah, I'm sure." These were things you already knew about Gwil. But you could have listened to him drone on in that delicatessen accent forever and a day.
"What about you? Still out till the odd hours? Still dating that Rodney fellow?"
You couldn't help but let a snort escape you as you turned your head toward Gwil. Had it really been so long since you'd seen him?
"I broke Rodney's heart three years ago, Gwil. I dated around for a while but it's been a busy time. I've not even had time to drink myself sick all year." You smirked. Gwil let out a shocked chuckle. He was right to do so. You used to have a little too much fun.
"No time to do anything but cram. I've not even been to the movies. What do you know about those?" You grinned. It was his dream to act. You felt a little bad for not keeping better track of the local theater. Surely Gwilym had made it to the big screen by now.
"I heard you saw a certain one last night." Gwil pipped up gently. Ah yes, Francine introduced the man at the door as 'Ned.'
"Yeah, that... We found the tape in the cupboard. Your character was a total catch by the way. Any others I've missed out on?"
Your conversation was flowing, and you felt real true ease between your brother's best friend and yourself. Whether it was circumstantial or genuine, you let yourself sink into an appreciation for the magnetic moment.
"Uh... a few," Gwilym spoke. "Do you like the Beatles?"
"Why were you cast as Mr. Harrison or something?" You giggled at Gwil's change of subject.
"Just wanted to make sure you weren't a fraud." Gwilym smiled, gesturing to your Sargent Pepper shirt.
"I'm no fraud!" You assured. "I love all that old rock and roll stuff." You'd scored tickets to see Ringo Starr before college kicked off. It was the best damn day of your life.
"Good. Let's have at it then, aye?" Gwil managed to uncover an aux chord from bellow the counsel and plugged it into his phone. The man reached out and cranked the radio up to the tune of Do You Want To Know A Secret. And for just a moment as you sang along, you pretended that Gwilym knew you were singing to him.
2 hours in
You stopped at the In-n-Out one hundred miles inward. Gwyilm finally got his soda and a whole lot more. The pair of you split a giant order of fries and traded burgers when you discovered you liked each other's orders better. You both thought about splitting a shake but you convinced Gwilym to get his own. He downed the sweet treat in minutes, but yours sat beading with sweat in the cup holder now. A couple of inches of the frozen drink rippled in a melted puddle as the Buick crept toward a gas station.
Gwilym stood in the heat to fill the car as you disposed of the collection of fast-food trash.
"Should I get more snacks?" You called out to Gwil from across the otherwise empty lot.
"Why don't we just agree to a nice dinner on the way home?" He shouted back. It sounded like a joke but you knew it wasn't. You went on to purchase some sunflower seeds anyway because you'd want to stash some in your car.
"Don't act like you don't want some of these." You prodded Gwils ribs as you both settled back into your brother's car. He shook his head with a grin as you tore open the packet of sunflower seeds.
"You're unbelievable. I guess I'll have a few." Gwil reached a hand out after revving the engine.
"Alright. How much was gas, while we're at it?" You gave the bag of seeds to Gwilym as you reached into your purse for your wallet.
"It's none of your business. My treat, really. Thank you for sharing." Gwil laid the bag of seeds to rest in your lap as he turned the wheel out of the gas station.
"I'll let you have that one but I'll get you back when you least expect it." You grumbled, snatching the seeds for your own again.
"Let's get back to your opinion on American football. We've got a lot to dissect here." Gwilym smirked, hands lose on the wheel, tires steady on the road. He was getting the hang of this yet!
"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." It was the unsexiest innuendo of all time, but with gentle prodding, Gwil had begun to easily open up to you.
///
The car dealership was just outside Vegas and your beloved mustang was roasting in the hot sun, ready to be driven back to safer grounds.
You practically fell to your knees before the mechanic who ordered special parts and offered you a discount for all your troubles.
"Just follow behind, I know the way back." You smiled to Gwilym, admiring the way the soft breeze tousled his hair. "Thanks again for this." He was really a good sport.
You had settled into your old mustang, fingers fitting into the worn-out divots in the steering wheel. But you cursed when you reached for the radio. You had really been pampered all day, in your brothers Buick, with groovy tunes and a whole lot of eye candy.
That's when your phone rang. It was Gwilym.
The desert road was wide open, but you still decided to put the call on speaker and rest the phone on your dash.
"Hello?" You laughed, checking your rearview mirror. Gwil drove your brothers Buick a safe distance behind. You swore you could see Gwilym's bright white teeth as he responded.
"Hello! I've just realized that I promised to take to dinner, but I can't very well do that with you leading the way."
"Oh, that's what this is about?" You snorted, eyeing the mountains across the horizon.
"Where shall we go?" His voice crackled from your dashboard.
"There's an exit in about forty minutes with a few suitable options. Nothing movie star worthy though." You clicked your tongue, wondering if this was all some fever dream brought on by the ninety-degree day.
"Oh stop it. Is there an IHop? I love IHop."
"You do?" You chuckled. Gwilym hummed with certainty.
"Alright." You spoke up, glancing in the rearview once more. Was he looking? "I'm sure we can track one down."
"Thanks, kid." There it was again, that pesky pet name. You didn't like it at all.
"Am I liable to call you old man?" You jabbed, making your feelings known in a light-hearted manner.
"Whoa now, I'll hang up and leave you alone with your broken radio." Gwil threatened. He remembered your telling him your radio was broken? You glanced in the rearview once more and noticed Gwilym holding up his middle finger.
"Hey!" You laughed.
"Eyes on the road!" Gwilym challenged. There were, in fact, shiny cars popcorning over the horizon.
"Alright, alright! Can you Google and drive? I'll be your eyes." You offered, driving ahead of the man.
"Hang on," Gwilym spoke. You smiled and bit your lip to withhold the burst of joy you wanted to scream out. "I've got one. I'm gonna pass you and take this adventure into my own hands if you don't mind."
You could hear Gwilym smile as his car sped up past yours in an instant.
"See ya at IHop old man!" You shouted, swiping the phone call to end before Gwilym could shout back.
Your brothers Buick zoomed past you and began to blend in with the waves of heat on the horizon. You prayed under your breath that the man leading your way wasn't just a mirage.
///
You sat across from your brother's best friend in a sticky old IHop booth while a family of six and an old married couple filled out the other corners of the restaurant. One waitress floated through the otherwise empty diner to cater to all of you as the sun set.
Gwilym ordered a tea and you warned he was going to be disappointed in the Americanized beverage. He shooed off your comment and relaxed in the booth while you sipped your coffee. You wondered how you ended up here, then you wondered how Gwilym ended up here.
"Have you really just come to town for my brother's silly party?" You suddenly quizzed. Dan threw what he called a "mixer" once every year, where all the friends he'd ever known were invited to drink bourbon and pretend it was fun being an adult. This year was a bit of a house warming party, and your whole family was invited.
"Sort of. I wanted to see him anyway and some other friends around LA." Gwilym offered, resting his head on the heel of his hand while he gazed at you.
"I see, I forgot you were a big rom-com star now." You chuckled. Of course, he was in Hollywood to mingle with other bright eyed up and comers.
But Gwilym just rolled his eyes and smiled as the waitress floated by to fill up your coffee cup.
"The last time I saw you was Easter in 2015, do you remember that?" Gwilym sat up a little, twirling his finger around the rim of his mug of tea. You tried really hard not to notice.
"I'm surprised you do. I was late to brunch and you left not long after I showed up." You recalled. That was when he hugged you goodbye, as he was leaving and you were just joining the rest of your family. He lingered around the dining table to finish some conversation with your father, but you don't remember him leaving.
"'Course I remember. You poured something from a flask into your coffee when your mum wasn't looking." Gwil gestured toward your warm cup and you winced in remembrance.
"Those were the days, huh?" You furrowed your brow even though you smiled, a little sick at the thought of drinking anything.
"They aren't anymore?" Gwil seemed to gently pry, and you weren't about to lie to him.
"No, I learned my lesson in the hospital." You shrugged, hoping to never stay that long on an IV drip ever again.
"What?" Gwilym asked. He seemed genuinely concerned and you hadn't realized he didn't know. Dan would usually warn anyone to keep an eye out on you in case you keeled over like you always used to morning noon and night.
"Yeah, I drank myself silly." You laughed, but it wasn't silly at all. That month was shit. "I haven't drank since January."
"Christ." Gwil shot his wide eyes toward you.
"It's a good thing! I like coffee much more, anyway."
"Than this," Gwil gestured around the eatery, "was the perfect choice."
Gwilym's smile was ultraviolet. You admired him in a way you might have anyone else, but the longer you took in his features, they became prettier by the second. You caught yourself staring, but that was usually the case. What caught you further off guard was the way Gwilym seemed to be just as in tune to your conversation as you were. LIke he really wanted to right here, in the middle of nowhere, with his best friend's kid sister.
He was too good to be true. Why had it taken you so long to realize?
///
That same night, you drove your friends back to your flat to the tune of their incessant teasing. You guessed you'd be shocked if Colin Firth showed up to crash your spontaneous slumber party, after watching Love Actually. So, you couldn't blame them, but you could block them out. You found your mind wandering to the weekend. You found yourself thinking of Gwilym.
Your brother's annual gala was three days later. Your parents swung by your flat and gave you a lift all the way across one town to the next so you could all attend your brother's first party in his new home.
You wore torn up mom jeans and a decent blouse, unbothered by most of the guests sporting their finest black-tie looks, like this was the waiting block for Mad Men auditions or something. Everyone was drinking and the smell alone made your blood curdle. You slinked through plastic Hollywood types and decided you didn't need to drink to have fun, or waste your time mingling.
You wound up in the posh den, in a leather recliner, directing your brother's dogs to do tricks. You got Vinny to start barking at his reflection in the flat screen tv , much to the annoyance of the passing guests. But someone was charmed by your antics. Gwyilm leaned against the door frame with a now-familiar smile.
"Vinny, look!" You pointed to the flatscreen while the giant dog spun around to start whining. Gwilym laughed at you, and you whipped your head to find him watching on, drink in hand.
"Are you having a good time?" Gwilym comically quizzed, scooting further into the room. He sat on the arm of the chair you occupied, holding his glass between his legs. You looked up at the British hunk and smiled.
"We are. Violet just learned to shake hands!" You quipped. The dog bounced over at the sound of her name and sat in front of you, ready to show off her new skills.
"Nice to meet you, lady." You teased, holding your palm in front of your brother's dog. Violet raised her paw into your hand and you smiled as you shook it.
"Well before we call the circus and send you off, you better say goodbye to your family. Your mum's been looking for you." Gwilym laughed, shaking his head as he sipped something dark.
God, how embarrassing. Did she send him to find you? Did she think you were passed out in the bushes or worse? With a pursed smile you stood and left the den to find your mother lounging in the living room with a few other, older guests.
"Oh, this is my youngest, Y/N. A very bright girl." Your mother gushed, grabbing on to your writs and pulling you toward the sofa as some middle-aged blonde lady smiled widely at you. Her name was Dawn and she was busy trying to one-up your mother in housewife points. You just gave a fake grin and spun around to find your father asking about your car troubles.
"It's all fixed and fine now." You assured. Dan appeared on the scene, boasting about how his friend Gwilym was kind enough to take you on that trip. Gwil was sitting back on the sofa, smiling at your father as Dan boosted his ego. But he deserved the praise.
"Gwil practically saved my life!" You pointed, spinning toward where the man was settled onto the love seat. In your classic dramatic flare, you flung yourself into Gwilym's lap without thinking. The time you'd spent with the man had stripped away the layer if unfamiliarity between the two of you. And you would have plopped into anyone of your friend's laps. You made sure to bring your hand to your forehead to ensure your swooning was just for show. Even if you happened to feel a swoop of endearment at the prospect of being so close to Gwil. He was stunning. And his fingers were cautiously hovering around you, as if he wanted to hold you but knew better. And as you scooted out of the man's lap toward the cushion beside him, you swore you saw a hunger in his sea-blue eyes.
"Alright, leave the acting to him, you're no good." Daniel batted your hair on his way across the room at the sound of his name being called.
Moments after you peeled yourself off of Gwilym Lee's lap, your sister showed up. You hadn't seen Roxanne in what felt like ages. On her arm, an unassuming botanist called Max, who seemed to be totally head over heels for your older sister. Boy was he in for a treat.
"Hello, Roxy." Gwilym smiled, resting his glass on the coffee table as he stood to greet your sister. And just like that, the usually demure girl practically melted. You couldn't blame her, not anymore. Not after you caught a glimpse at how warm Gwil's smile really was.
"This, uh, this is Max." Roxanne shoved her boyfriend between herself and Gwilym, a human shield. The equally as meek fellow seemed to look up to Gwilym with wonder in his eye. You realized that no one was safe from doing a double-take. Gwilym was just that great.
The party fizzled out. Before the last guests even left, Roxanne kissed her beau and skipped out to the pool house with you, deciding to spend the night for some much-needed one on one time. You stole some of Daniel's sweatshirts and snacks from your brother's home and locked yourselves into the private little hut in his back yard.
After nearly a full hour of listening to your sister gush over how much she liked Max and how their relationship was taking off, Roxanne got quiet.
"I didn't realize Gwil was in town." Roxanne sheepishly admitted, reaching to the bowl of popcorn between the two of you.
"Yeah, I was surprised too." You realized. "I can't believe you still have a thing for him."
Roxanne laughed and shook her head as if that was all behind her now. But then she bit her lip and looked at you to tell her secret.
"No harm in looking, right?" She shrugged. Roxanne really did seem happy with her new boyfriend. But anyone with eyes could see Gwilym's glow and would probably long to bask in it all the same. You weren't blind to that any longer.

Emma and Francine were busy sitting around your apartment doing nothing, terribly bored of it all. Tilly had gone back to visit her family while the summer raged on, leaving the three of you to your own usual devices. Your brother had asked you to stay a little while longer, but he and Gwil took the dogs to a hiking trail and you got bored alone in the pool house after your sister went home. So you drove back to your flat where your roommates decided to waste away together.
"There's nothing good on tv. And I don't wanna go out. Why is nothing fun anymore?" You complained. The days of dancing the night away seemed like a waste of time to you now. There had been lots of fun last year, and the ones before. Maybe too much fun. When you weren't drinking you were asleep in someone else's bed. Casual dating turned into some kind of game. And it all started when Francine challenged you to get with as many people as you could take a shot for. And naturally, you were down to take the drinking challenge, but you took way too many shots that night. And you started zipping through one night stands like it was your job and you needed extra rent. You felt nothing, numbed by so many drinks. And near the end of your manic episode, you thought that maybe the more people you shagged, you'd eventually feel for one of them. But that never happened. Even when you brought some of them home and tried to mold them into a little perfect box.
You had a lot of time to reevaluate in the hospital. You hoped with your new lease on life that meaning would seep back through your cracks. But sitting around your old dusty apartment bored you. Wasn't there any balance anymore? Your phone buzzed you out of deep thought.
Gwil: How'd you get Violet to shake your hand? She won't listen to me or Dan!
You: I'm a dog whisperer. ;)
"We could do arts and crafts!" Emma chirped like a hopeful preschooler.
"It's too hot to think of having fun." Francine moaned, sprawled across the sofa with her upper half sliding down toward the floor.
Your phone buzzed again. Gwilym responded with the meme of the angry-looking cat sitting at the dinner table. You let out a breathy laugh that fanned through your nose. Before you could think of responding Gwilym had sent another text.
Gwil: I'll find out your secret one day.
You: Take a hike!
He should have been trekking through scenic California mountains instead of sending you memes.
"Earth to Y/N! Why are you smiling at your phone like that when we're in the middle of a boredom crisis meeting?"
"What?" You blanched. Had you really been lost in the short-lived conversation between Gwilym and yourself? He was just too good to be true. Of course, you were transfixed by the lad.
"Yeah, who are you talking to? Is Stu back from Ibiza? Are you two hooking up again?" Francine challenged, sitting up on the sofa with a knowing grin.
"God no, not Stu. He stole my underwear. That fucking creep." You shivered at the memory of your very last and longest hookup. Emma grimaced in response, but Francine, like always, wasn't satisfied.
"So who is it then?" The girl's honey-brown eyes filled with mischief as she reached for your phone.
"Why do you think it has to be anybody?" You whined, trying to lean further back before Francine could launch her self toward you. But it was too late, she latched onto your cell like a falcon, and scanned the screen. Her lips turned into a wild smile while Emma turned her head in anticipation.
"It's Ned!" Francine let out a burst of laughter as you dove back toward her to rescue your stolen device.
"Ned from the movie?" Emma questioned.
"What other Ned's do you know, Emma?" Francine rang, allowing you to take back your phone.
"The dad from the Try Guys." Emma shrugged. You would have laughed if you didn't feel your stomach fall away. What was there to be so nervous about?
"Why is movie star Ned sending you memes? How do you even know him, again?" Francine sat straight up against some throw pillows to begin her interrogation.
"When Daniel moved to London for college, he and Gwilym became the best of friends." You sighed, reminding Francine of the name of the man she kept referring to.
"He sent you a meme, Y/N." Francine rose her brows like she was alluding to something more.
"After he drove you across the desert and back," Emma added, pointing your way.
"Yeah, I guess he's my friend too." You gapped. Well he was, wasn't he? Your phone buzzed again and everyone's eyes filled with curiosity as you kept your phone clutched to your chest.
"He's also a movie star!" Francine rang.
"Just because he was in some Australian rom-com doesn't mean anything-"
"What other movies has he been in? Maybe he's loaded and you guys can be Hollywoods new it couple." Emma cooed like she was dreaming for herself.
"I don't know- the last time I saw Gwil was years ago I hardly think-"
"Babe. I can tell you're into him so do away with excuses!" Francine leaned over the sofa to rest a hand on your knee.
"Guys, I'm just now really getting to know him..." You reasoned, trying like mad to pretend his gloriously pretty face wasn't always on your mind.
"He's hot. I'm talking mega beautiful. I don't blame you. And he basically already took you on a date." Francine remained trying to get you to crack.
"Uh, guys..." Emma was fixated on her phone screen when you and Francine whipped your heads toward the girl. She began to squeal through her teeth as she bolted from the pull out bed and skipped toward the coffee table to snatch the remote.
"What are you doing, Emma?" You asked but it sounded more like a warning. She only giggled as the tv buzzed to life. After a quick search on your shared Amazon account, a film from last year started to play.
"Are you trying to tell us that Gwilym is in Bohemian Rhapsody? Wasn't that nominated for a bunch of awards?" Francine focused on Emma who was staring at the screen in anticipation.
"Oh my God." You sighed. Not only did were you turned off by the thrill of seeing Gwil on screen, you felt horrible for not knowing your brother's best friend was in a damn blockbuster. Had you really been so far gone in party land that you were that blinded to the world around you? Francine picked up on your unease and tried to talk you into the spirit.
"He's probably just in the background for a second. But we have to watch it, so, Let's just get it over with."
Emma let out a nervous giggle as an actor opened his eyes on the screen. You literally held your breath while the film crept through the introduction. And then you saw him. Dawning a curly black wig and a smile that belonged to someone else.
"Oh no." You groaned at the exact moment Francine let out an excitable laugh.
"Your boyfriend is Brian May!" She squealed. Gwilym wasn't your boyfriend, but he was nearly identical to the guitarist of Queen. You loved their music. You loved their story. But you had totally missed the posters and promotions for the film that featured Gwil's name in lights. You decided then and there that you would never drink again. You and your friends watched the rest of the film in total rapture. Emma decided the blonde playing Roger was the new love of her life. Francine started to cry when the lad playing Freddie walked out of the doctor's office. You held her hand as the band kicked off Live Aid and when the credits rolled, Emma hit mute and you three stared at each other for a beat, lost for words.
"I sort of forgot all about Ned. He's a proper actor, isn't he?" Francine looked to you like she'd just seen a ghost. You could only muster a stunned nod of exact agreement.
"I just remembered something... my sister in law saw this in theaters like four times. She's totally obsessed with it. Let's call her!" Emma reached across the pull out bed to claim her cell phone before you could stop her.
"No, Emma this is ridiculous! It's not like I don't know Gwil." You reasoned.
"You just said that you were just getting to know him. And trust me when I say that no one knows an actor better than the fandom." Francine lifted her brow as if to prove a point. The girl was still obsessed with Supernatural, and would spout off info about the actors she kept up learning online. But it was all hearsay, wasn't it?
"That's insanely untrue, just so you know." You nodded to Francine, hoping to coax her out of that toxic mindset. The phone was ringing through Emma's speaker and before anyone could day more, someone answered.
"Susan! What do you know about Gwilym Lee?" Emma giggled, resting her phone on the bed with her speaker's volume all the way up. You buried your head in your hands as Francine wrapped an encouraging arm around your shoulder.
"You mean Brian May's clone?" Susan the sister in law crackled through the cell phone. She wasn't wrong. Halfway through the film, you'd nearly forgotten the real members of Queen weren't actually there.
"Is that a compliment? I mean really tell me about this guy. Sell him to me." Emma bargained, propping herself up on her elbows and kicking her feet behind her.
"Okay..." The girl on the phone breathed and suspense built up in your stomach while you waited for a stranger to list of facts about your brother's best friend. "Gwilym is perfect for starters. He's into sports and he's totally obsessed with his castmates. They still see each other all the time. Gwil seems totally devoted and passionate. Rumor has it he's engaged. The good ones are always taken."
You suddenly felt like a ghost of your former giddy self. Why should you have felt so sick? So what if he was engaged? He was just your friend. But friends were supposed to tell each other these sorts of things, weren't they?
"Engaged?" Emma squealed, practically causing the silky pull out bed to ripple from her risen octave.
"Well, it's just a rumor. There are no pictures of a ring or a girl or anything. But where there's smoke there's fire. Anyway, can I tell you about the rest of the cast?"
Francine sat up beside you, casting fiery eyes into yours as she reached for her phone to begin investigating for herself.
"No, I've gotta go." Emma hung up with no explanation, flinging her legs over the edge of the rickety couch bed.
"She's right, there's no evidence." Francine rang, turning her phone to me with a slim Google result list.
"Not to be a downer but I feel like there's gotta be something going on, right?" Emma glanced at you with big sad eyes.
"I- I don't know. Maybe he is? He's talked for ages about his family. Never said a word about a girl."
"That's because he's into you and he's on a great American fling. If there's a girl he's not going to say so." Francine reasoned. She was right. She had to be. Gwilym was too beautiful and endearing to have been single. You were just a good flirt.
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction... 'cause I try and I...
Your phone was ringing. And your friend's eyes were glued to your every move. You were only a little shocked to find Gwilym's name flickering across your dim screen now. But as you snatched the phone to answer you felt your chest tighten between a rope of anxious nerves.
"Hi, Gwil." You tried to sound nonchalant as you stood up and pointed a warning finger to your friends. But they, of course, couldn't be expected to hold back their bursts of excitable chirps.
"Hi-"
"Hang on!" You warned, making a break for your bedroom. There was little hope your friends would settle their giggles because as they chased after you to beg to eavesdrop, they were squealing far too loudly. After dramatically flinging yourself behind your locked bedroom door you answered the phone once more.
"Okay! Hi!" You sighed, trying desperately to even out your breathing.
"Is this a bad time?" Gwilym quizzed over the phone. You cast your eyes across your well-kept room with a smile.
"No! Just... what's up?" You wondered in turn. No time was a bad time for Gwilym.
"Alright." The man let out a chuckle before continuing. "Well, this might be a stretch, but here it goes. I was going to bring Dan with me to a premier tomorrow. He had to cancel last minute for work, yet again. I've already got a plus one, so, would you like to come with me?"
"I'm second best, huh?" You laughed, stepping further into the room, past a stack of books around the corner.
"Well, first if you think about it! Dan called dibs, but I... well I called you."
Oh dear. You had to remind yourself to breathe as Gwilym went on to say,
"I think you'd get on well with my mates is all, and you seemed to have a free week. Asking seemed worth a shot."
"I see." You bit your lip. Was he really being as forward as he sounded? Was he really engaged? "Well, I'd love a night out. Only if you're sure though."
"Oh, I'm sure. Come round Dan's by seven?" You could hear him smile.
"Okay." You agreed while still holding your breath. "See you soon, Gwil."
What do I wear?
