I think that Maruki is a pretty good driver, all things considered, but he does start out being nervous driving in Tokyo. The streets are packed, there are pedestrians everywhere, and people are constantly driving like the world's going to end if they can't get where they're going in 2 minutes flat. So he's got some anxiety around driving in the city that his post game job as a taxi driver will help him get over.

He'll probably play some nice tunes on the radio to help himself stay calm. A bit of background noise to keep things from falling into too much of a lull. For his tracks of choice, I'm thinking some soft jazz. That will also help pass the time spent in traffic.

For a while, he is the world's most careful driver, and this is something that everybody on the road will exploit. He will let anyone in ahead of him, he'll struggle to pass slower cars because people won't let him into other lanes in return. He's just not aggressive enough to get anywhere quickly on crowded streets. He'll get better at it with time, but I think something like that is likely to get under his passenger's skin. Sae might even want to just take the wheel herself!

He'll be a great conversationalist along the way, though. They may be stuck behind an old lady who's been sitting still for 20 minutes now, but at least he'll be able to chat people up. With Sae, he'll be sure to ask her about cases and make sure she's taking care of herself during busy times. He'll probably also want to check on how Makoto's doing, but he won't bother Sae with too many questions about her unless she wants to discuss it. With Zenkichi, he's likely to be a bit more upbeat (matching the tone he's given), but he'll still ask about how Akane is doing and make sure that he's taking breaks as needed to support her. He'll absolutely be the type to remind both of them that, if they want to support someone else, they need to take care of themselves too. Otherwise, they won't have the energy to give.

Overall, he'll be the world's least aggressive driver. Probably a little too permissive at first, even to a fault, but he'll end up settling into things with more time spent driving his taxi on the road. Give him a call if you want someone to vent to on your ride! He will ask you all about yourself, and answer next to nothing about himself. It's an old habit. He's one of the better people to be stuck in traffic next to.

I actually thought this was next week's doodle idea but then I checked my list on Monday and saw it was this week! SERENDIPITOUS INDEED!

lmels. Your lil guy. Your scrunkly. Was SO MUCH FUN to colour. EVEN WITH THE LIMITED PALETTE I HAVE! Trying to figure out how to make his jacket a lil grimey was fun! (I stared with PEELED EYES at SOO MANY KILLIANS while trying to do the beanie and the hair, I HOPE HE'S AT LE A S T RECOGNIZABLE!)

And yes I kNOW probably wine SHOULDN'T go into whatever warm chocolatey drink Jacqueline is having, but tbh, I was hella distracted by CR while colouring so it became wine instead of like, brandy or Bailey's or rum like I was ORIGINALLY intending. Although...I have seen rum similar to that reddish/amberish colour before so....maybe???

Anyway. Whatever's got them both feelin this kinda way is deffs directly Jack's fault. I'll leave that tidbit up to your imaginations 🤭🤭

Next week's scrimbly is a redraw! Then the week after is Into the Shadows spoilers! I've been working away at my second draft (which is notes tbh, really, really detailed notes) and I'm like 11 chapters in and so far, so good! It'll a bit of a CHALLENGE to write what with all the characters and the conflict of chaos versus order between the villains all while trying to make it a Charlie-centric story with a sorta uni au I guess, so basically the ride is going to be WILDIN >:)

The strangest thing for me so far about being read as a man in public is that people assume I'm athletic, or at least have a base level of physical competence. Presumably some of this is because of my build. I'm slim and fairly compact, which when I was being read as female was interpreted entirely differently and led to things like older men refusing to let me hold doors for them.

When Nik and I were on our way back from vacation, the nice lady checking us in at the airport noticed we had a very tight connection between our flights due to some weather delays, and she looked at me and asked, "can you run pretty fast?" I was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered enough to laugh and point out that Nik is half a foot taller than me and in fact all of that is leg. (Other reasons Nik is faster than me include my asthma, my being a lifelong indoor kid with weak ankles, and the fact that at the time I was barely 6 weeks recovered from top surgery.) The check-in attendant pivoted, saying to Nik, "Okay then, give him your bag and run for it."

Afterward, waiting in line for security, I marveled to Nik that this person had assumed I was the athletic one, and Nik said, "It's your male privilege." And they were being a bit facetious but I think they still got to the heart of the matter; the check-in attendant looked at the two of us, decided I was the man in the situation, and extrapolated from that that I was the most likely to sprint for the gate.

Meanwhile every time we go hiking, Nik hands me whatever they're carrying, says "Take this, it's holding me back," and goes crashing off into the underbrush and/or nearest body of water.

Isabela is technically a registered biotic, though she lacks the combat proficiency necessary to have classed as an adept, vanguard, or sentinal (of the three, she would likely have been a sentinal, given her tech skills). Her biotics are a result of secondary exposure to element zero at the age of 14 (2168 CE (ie a year after L2 biotic implants were developed) - which is canonical, but never properly gets addressed in the mainline series, so it's easily missed and most people quite understandably assume only those classically trained in biotics is capable of them).

Since she also wasn't detected as even being biotic until she's 17 (2171 CE - again, this is canonical), she receives an L3 biotic implant as opposed to the L2s when the latter prove to be dangerous and so L3s were developed a year prior (2170 CE), which is later subsequently upgraded to an L5x by Cerberus in 2185 CE when they successfully rebuild and revive her (meaning that in AUs where that much doesn't happen, she remains an L3, and thus doesn't gain as much control as she does over her biotics themselves by ME3, at least not without wilfully undergoing the procedure for the upgrade herself).

Ignoring game mechanics so that it's possible to use prior to it being available in game, Izzy is only really capable of using her biotics in a Flare (bonus power learned from Aria in the ME3 Omega DLC - though until ME2/ME3 timeline, she has lacks any real finesse with it that she gains from the L5x implant and Aria's input), as well as minor things that come up when her biotics react to her emotions (think that conversation between Sara and Cora in Andromeda and Cora's biotics act up because she's frustrated and so her kicking a box has biotic energy behind it), so she'll end up with biotics flickering around her hands or entire body - which she uses to her advantage as an intimidation tactic as well (paragade with strong renegade tendencies - it's only because her galaxy changing decisions are more often paragon-aligned that she ends up more paragade than renegon in most cases, and even then she's often exceptionally close to being 50/50 through most of the overarching missions until the end which pushes her closer to 60/40 in favour of paragade).

Izzy definitely isn't capable of precision work with her biotics - she struggles even to use them to deliberately move things no matter their size, her attempts at barriers are as weak as wet tissue paper, etc. - and yet she still ends up with the weakness of human biotics where she has a higher metabolism and easily burns out much factor than a non-biotic operative would. As a result, she always carries a handful of high protein ration bars with her (mostly levo, though after bringing Garrus and Tali aboard, she starts carrying a couple dextro ones as well, for emergencies), but even that doesn't guarantee she won't end up burning herself out, or overcharging her amp and needing help getting back to the ship or even outright extraction if they're overwhelmed.

Most people don't assume Izzy is a biotic at all, thanks to her being in infiltration saboteur and engineer, and that she doesn't resort to them often unless overwhelmed in the field, at least prior to the Reaper Invasion, at which point she relies on them heavily when fighting reaper ground forces (further adding to her exhaustion during the war), and as that gives her an active advantage in combat, she likes to keep it that way as much as possible. So typically only those she brings out into the field on a regular basis enough to either witness her biotics, or that she's comfortable enough with to talk about them herself, ever actually realise, especially when she doesn't always seek to eat a biotic's rations (much to Chakwas's chagrin when it inevitably leads to Izzy burning herself out more frequently).
