The One With The Heart to Heart

A/N: I don’t even know how to begin to thank you guys! All your comments and love mean so much to me and makes me want to write more! Also to those asking about a kiss…I want it to be perfect and Nesta throwing him out of her house after it would not be perfect.

The Day After the Late Night Baking “Date”:

Cassian will never admit it to anyone but he was standing at his door looking out his peephole for thirty minutes waiting for Nesta to emerge from her apartment. He’s about to give up when he hears the click of a doorknob and her door swing open. He waits a second before he opens his own door. “Oh hey,” he says causally, locking his door behind him while she did the same.

She makes a noise in acknowledgement before walking down the hallway, balancing a briefcase and two boxes in her grip. “Do you need help?” he asks, catching up with her and matching her pace.

“I am good,” she replies, still not bothering to look at him. He scratches the back of his neck racking his brain for conversation pieces.

“I am thinking friday I could make my homemade pizza and you could bake whatever you want to bake,” he says, as they reach the elevator. He presses the down button when he sees her struggling with it.

“Friday? I am busy Friday,” she mutters.

“It doesn’t have to be Friday,” he offers.

“I am going to be busy for awhile,” she says as the elevator door opens and she steps into and turns towards him. He can see the distance in her eyes as she stares right through him.

“Oh, well, I just realized I forgot my bag in my room so I’ll take the next one,” he replies with a slightly awkward wave as the doors close between them.

A Couple Months After The “Date”:

“I only signed up to be the best man so that I would be able to plan the bachelor party,” Cassian says, as he sits back in the cushioned chair. “I did not sign up to spend a day in a boutique wedding dress shopping.”

Feyre laughs from where she is in the dressing room. “Elain couldn’t come up from North Carolina because of the baby and Nesta had to work again,” she says.

“What about Mor?” he asks curiously.

“She went to that conference she was hyping up this weekend and Azerial just happened to be out of town on “business” too,” she replies, opening the door and coming out in a puffy white dress covered in feathers.

Cassian cringes when he sees the dress. “Unless the swan look is in fashion I give it a no,” he exclaims. She nods her head in agreement and disappears back into the dressing room. “So your sister had work on a Saturday?”

“What? Oh, Nesta, yeah their was a crisis with one of the books she was advertising or something so she had to go in last minute,” she says, coming back out of the dressing room in a short white dress.

“You look like I would find you on the corner of a street standing outside a strip club,” he says honestly. She laughs and closes the door behind her. “A crisis?”

“Yeah, that’s all she said. Why? You live across from her you can just walk over there and ask her yourself. Aren’t you two dating?” Feyre asks.

Cassian snorts, if ignoring each other was considered dating then they were practically married. “Not even close, I haven’t talked to her in…awhile,” he says, trying to think back to when he actually had a conversation with her.

“Thats a shame, I totally saw you two together,” she retorts, her voice distant as she struggles to put on the next dress.

So did I, he answers in his head as the door opens and she walks out wearing a sliming ankle length dress that had lace detailing on the bodice. “Wow, Fey,” he says, watching as she turns towards the mirror. “If you weren’t already marrying my best friend I would propose right now.”

“Sorry, I am late. I rushed here as fast as- wow. You look wow,” Nesta says, standing behind Cassian. Her eyes hadn’t left Feyre. “Is that the one your getting?”

“Yeah, I think so,” Feyre says, turning and smiling towards them. “All of a sudden it feels so real.” she laughs, wiping away the tears that were forming. “I should go take this off so I can buy it.”

“Did you fix the crisis?” Cassian asks, she turns towards him startled obviously not realizing he was sitting there. When she doesn’t answer right away he adds, “The one at your work?”

“Right, yes. It’s fixed, thank you,” she replies civil. The friendly tone she had used with Feyre just seconds ago gone from her voice.

They sat in silence while they waited for Feyre to change and then stood in silence behind Feyre while she paid. “I am going to have dinner with Rhys, I’ll see you at girls night tomorrow?”

Cassian watched as Nesta gave a curt nod. Feyre gave him a smile and thanked him for coming before disappearing to her car. He turned to say goodbye to Nesta but she was typing hurriedly on the phone.

“Everything okay?” he asks when she lets out a noise of frustration.

“Yeah, I am fine. My ride just bailed on me so I have to get an uber,” she says, continuing to type on her phone.

Cassian doesn’t wait for his mind to tell him not before he’s already offering to drive her home. He remembered Feyre mentioning how her engine had fried and she didn’t have enough time to look for a new car. She looks up surprised, which irritates him. When has he not been kind to her?

“I would appreciate that,” she responds, and he rolls his eyes at the formalities. The car ride is silent and awkward. He watches the road and she texts the whole ride. Neither of them bother with small talk. He pulls up to his designated spot in the garage and parks the car.

“Wait,” she says, as he goes to open the door. “I wanted to apologize for the way I’ve been acting.” He sits back in his seat and looks at her waiting for her to continue. “I’ve been a jerk to you and you don’t deserve that. I just didn’t want you think it was a date.”

He laughs at that, “Message received.” There’s a pause. “Why exactly did you not want it to be a date? You were the one who woke me up in the middle of the night needing “sugar”.”

She rolls her eyes and scoffs, “I did need sugar so I don’t know why you used that tone.” she pauses, and he can see the hesitation on her face. “I am sort of seeing someone.”

“Oh,” was all Cassian could muster.

“Yeah, he’s really nice. He’s known our family for awhile. He used to like Feyre but she’s getting married now so he missed his chance,” she says quickly.

“He missed his chance with one sister so he’s moving onto the next?” Cassian asks frowning.

“Well, no. I just- he’s inherit his father’s store so he has a stable career and he volunteers on the weekends at an animal shelter-,”

“Are you trying to convince me that he’s a good fit or yourself?” Cassian interrupts.

“I am not trying to convince you of anything. Feyre said your a good friend to talk to and I thought we were friends but I guess I was mistaken,” she says, stepping out of the car and slamming the door behind her. Cassian frowns as he watches her exit the parking garage.

“Nesta,” Cassian yells, following her out of the restaurant. It was a week before the wedding and they had all met up for dinner before things got crazy with the wedding. She pauses midstep and turns towards him. “Whats up with your eye?”

Nesta turns her face so he can’t see the black eye. A waiter had accidentally spilled water on Nesta while she was sitting at the table and it had washed away the make up she had used to cover it “I tripped,” she replies.

“You tripped? Then why is it covered by make up,” he asks, stepping closer to her. He’s relieved when she doesn’t take a step away from him.

“Because I didn’t want to have to explain to everyone how it happened,” she says, staring at something over his shoulder. He knew she was lying and he had his suspicions as to why.

“Nes,” he says, his voice just above a whisper. She turns to look at him, their faces inches apart. “You don’t have to lie to me. Tell me what happened. Did Tomas do this to you?”

She frowns at the mention of her boyfriends name and steps away from Cassian. “It’s not a big deal,” she replies.

He frowns and clenches his fist together. She didn’t say no. She didn’t say it wasn’t him. “Nesta, tell me where he is,” he says through his teeth.

She shakes her head, “No, it’s fine. He won’t do it again and if he does I’ll take care of it.”

“Are you kidding? He hit you and your going to give him a second chance?” Cassian asks bewildered as he stares down at Nesta intently. The once independent fierce girl was gone.

“Just stay out of it, Cassian,” she retorts, turning on her heel and leaving him behind.

Single life - the good and the bad.

The good and bad sides to single life. It absolutely has both, as does everything in life. There seems to be some kind of war between singles and coupled folk, as if they are trying to get one up on each other, to prove that their life is considerably ‘better’ than their opponents.

This bothers me. It bothers me because life isn't that rigid or consistent, life moves, and so do all of our situations. There is also the need to consider that people are so different, you know the saying, “one mans treasure” and all that. For some, my single life is their idea of a worst knight mare, simile, a nuclear family at the age of 25 would be mine.

Its nothing personal I guess, I think its just taken that way when people try and force their way of life on you, or assume you are miserable because you haven't got what they have, this goes without saying the people that straight up judge you for whatever your life circumstance - they can do one (and my oh my, there are many of them!). There are definitely times for me where being single is actually epic and others where it actually sucks balls.

I will share them with you. Bad points... Lack of touch. This one is strange for me, because I haven't been touched for so long, that Ive grown used to it, yet I still crave it from time to time (usually in the winter). BUT if I ever do get touched or if someone tried to hug me or something, it weirds me out now, that I find it unnecessary because I have gone so long without it!. Its definitely made me less affectionate and less expectant to receive affection. That part of me has kind of died. I think I have associated touch / affection to do with only a partner - which is bad. (lets just say I am no longer a ‘hugger’)

You also become very observant. All the “Netflix and chills” / “lets cuddle up on the sofa”, comments you so often see on social media or hear among all your coupled up friends and family members (yes I am pretty much the only single one left out of friends and family - which I will mention later on as its an issue in itself!) are a little punch in the heart. You kind of become a little bit bitter that some people have that certain someone that they can come and hug after a really shit day - and how some really take that for granted. Little things are so huge and not many people get that. I think that the people that have had a real good amount of time of being single understand this. Love is not something you are owed, but for some it just falls in their laps and they have never had to live life coping on their own. (You definitely get annoyed at people who take love for granted and people who cheat etc!) But - being deprived of something makes you learn to live without it - its a educational, saddening yet strengthening double edged sword. I cant even remember what snuggling up to a man feels like and they say that touch is actually something that humans need and that it releases the ‘feel good’ hormone - perhaps lack of touch does really do things to humans?. I believe so. Feeling Safe. Now, I think in my whole relationship / dating life, only one man made me feel safe and it was wonderful. Im not saying that women can not feel safe without a man - absolutely not. But there is something so damn sexy and reassuring when you can actually feel a mans strength (in his body and mind) and you know he has your back. When you walk down the street, you know there will be no shit from no one, as you are with him. That when you're in his arms - you feel completely and utterly safe, it makes you feel so feminine. Nothing can get you, and you breathe a sigh of relief, thats all is well, because you are there, with him. I miss that, even if just for a minute I could have that again. All of your family and friends are pretty much hooked up. Gone are the days of going out and flirting with a group of guys, because all of your mates are at home with their others half's sucking dick or fanny. This also adds to the struggles of trying to ‘get out there’ as you’d be on the prowl alone - not attractive. When all your mates hook up, it kills your social life too, I miss the nights of going out dressed up all girly, dancing the night away and flirting / kissing with drunken guys.

There is no one to talk to when you have those ‘Im feeling crappy about being single’ moments because no one gets it because no one is in your situation. You will also never get a break from being surrounded by couples, family gatherings = couples everywhere, meeting with friends = couples everywhere. You have to become accustomed to always being the third, forth and fifth wheel when with family and friends. There was once a New Years Eve party where at midnight, everyone was obviously eating face and there I was - twat face, the only single person sat there hating my existence and wallowing in self pitty. (Holidays are the WORST for being single) This is not to say I dont love my friends and family but sometimes you just wish you had some single pals to break away from the constant reminders or someone to really open up to and that they understand, its tiring to always put on this brave face when really you just want to say you feel like shit. Theres also the chance coupled friends will get offended if you need to vent about always being the single one - its not personal, sometimes we just need to express ourselves. Sometimes you just wonder if you are destined to live life solo Perhaps it isn't happening because its not supposed to?, that you are actually happier alone?. Its happened to everyone else so easily so there must be a reason its not happening to you?. To you, its like climbing mount everest, yet to most, its as easy as 1,2,3!. That in the time you have been single, others have gone through about 3 relationships that have started, ended and then they have found ‘the one’ and got married, yet you cant even find A date?. Am I an alien? I must be doing everything wrong?. The longer it goes on for the more convinced you become that it will never happen and you kind of begrudgingly, make peace with it and stop trying and just live your own life. Confidence Sometimes, only sometimes you wonder what is wrong with you and that you are just not fanciable / fuckable / loveable. Those thoughts can fuck off - Im fucking awesome. You get so good at being single that you think you'd be crap at relationships The thought of having to share a bed with someone makes you want to die. What if they snore?. What If Im ill and I just need to do smelly farts all night and toss and turn without worrying that Im going to keep someone awake? What if I want a wank and I cant because THEY are there?! Omg would that mean we would have to arrange shower times in the morning?, Im not fucking sharing a shower with him! Oh man imagine someone constantly texting you even though you see them all the ruddy time? - just fuck off!. And having to see someone all the time?! Someone demanding my time from me? oh god I cant deal!. Gone would be the days of just going where ever I want without explaining myself to anyone! - Ive got too used to only thinking of me, Im too selfish to change that now! and whats more - ID HAVE TO FUCKING SHAVE AND GET MY BODY OUT. Man I’d be so shit at sex =\ and Id have to tell them I love them!. So. Many. Vulnerable. Feelings. Stay. Up. Walls!. Finance All those people who share bills, rent etc. Not everyone would have had an opportunity to move out if they didn't have their significant other, especially in this day and age of expense!. I can also say as a single person it is ruddy annoying having to cash out on everyone else's other half's / kids etc. Whereas presents for you are ‘from both of us’. My single life benefits everyone else's pockets when it comes to christmas! GAH!. I get SO JEALOUS when I hear someone say that their other half is picking them up from work or cooking for them that night, I WISH I had that!. Fuck buses, walking the dog then having to cook for myself - food NEVER comes for single people, just try getting a bag of spinach for one! so much waste!. Good Points... My Flange is probably really tight Its so out of use its like its brand new. I dont have to shave for anyone and it is marvellous. I dont have to get my body out to worry what someone else thinks of it, nor do I have to worry if Im up the duff (although I use precautions, that worry is ALWAYS there, wondering, freaking the hell out, wondering when my period will ever come etc). Its a worry that is brilliant to not have to think about - nor do I have to think about the ruddy pill (no thanks!). Also - self service! =P Your independence and strength will sky rocket You really dont understand how some people freak out when they have to do things alone. For you, doing things alone is such an adventure / enjoyable experience. Yes I go out to dinner, the cinema, weekend breaks alone and its not weird my dears. I love how I can plan anything at anytime. Your strength builds up and up when your doing everything for yourself and it is really liberating and you realise that people that also have this quality are very rare. It makes you very strong and independent and independent people are sexy. =p You are as free as a bird - go fly!. I do what I want and I can order pizza at 3am and eat it in bed if I wish. (what a plan!). I could go travel for months on end if I wanted, I could move to a completely new place and chat up randomers if I so wished too and answer to no one. I could shave all my hair off and pork a load of girls just for fun. Learn a new instrument / get a hobby / go to evenings classes etc - because you CAN. I hear friends who have kids say how they would love to do the smallest of things like have a night to themselves, to go to the cinema or just go shopping, and I realise that I too, take small things for granted and I need to embrace my single life more. What I do is completely my choice and my choice alone - no hold backs. It feels so good. Finance Yes there is a factor of finance on this side of the spectrum! Your money is YOURS. Go spend a butt load on a new jacket if you want. Go spend £70 on a hair cut if you want. Whats more, you save money on not having to buy hair removal stuff! No birthday or christmas presents on your other half - or dates, or nothing! Save up that spare cash and do something worth while - like get tattoos all over your body ;P - priorities darling, that is YOU! =P. You have control of your own wellbeing One of the biggest issues for me when in relationships / seeing someone was how their actions / treatment towards me effected my wellbeing. I hated that they had so much power to hurt me because my feelings for them were so deep. I hated being so vulnerable and how my happiness was so reliant on how they chose to treat me. With single life problems, they are mostly what you have brought upon yourself, and sorting your own shit out makes you stronger and not dealing with someone else's bullcrap is a breath of fresh air =) So, these are some of my good and bad points, I really could have gone on for forever!. My unshaven flange enjoys parts, and doesn't with other parts. I want to say that its completely human to have weak times about things - like wanting to be hugged sometimes does not make you needy! (I hate that theres so much name calling for humans wanting to be humans!) Whats your favourite thing and hate about your relationship status? Be back soon. Jay Monster.

Dear friend,

So Im going to be updating you a fair bit in this letter and loading lots of information of things that are just relevant. I will try to organise it, and give it a purpose, but sorry if its just a complete mess, of a ramble - like these letters are anything but this!

Okay, so since breaking up for summer I have been looking for a job, and I properly applied for 6 jobs, and so far have received 4 call backs/ job offers, let me explain. The first one I heard back from was an office job, working full time, in a difficult to get to place. I didn’t really want this job, as Ive never worked in an office environment, and would be working all the time, but I would have earned lots of money and it would’ve looked good on my CV. I got an interview, which was basically filling in forms and a basic test, and I was told there was multiple jobs going and that I would be starting the following week. When I came out of the interview, I wasn’t sure how I did as there was a lot of forms that were repetitive and wasn’t sure I was filing in correctly , but the test I felt really confident with. I was the only girl at the interview, the job sounded even more boring then on the phone, and the fact it was in office still bothered me, so I didnt really want to be offered the job.

That weekend while I was still waiting to hear back from the office job, I received a phone call from the cake shop I applied at. While searching for jobs this was the one that was my favourite, and the one I was hoping to hear back from. So when I went for the interview and she told me I had the job I was so excited. I thought this was perfect and that Id have a great time earning money in a place that I enjoyed. I was given my first shift starting the coming week, and was only slightly anxious for it which is incredible considering I get anxious over the simplest of things usually. As I have mentioned in considerable detail in a previous letter, turns out I actually hated it there. Since it was a small, new business they had no training or support and I dreaded going in everyday. As of yesterday I have finished working here, and I am so happy I have, my mental health would’ve been a complete mess if I stayed much longer. But anyways Im getting ahead of myself:

While on my way to work that first day, I got a phone call. It was from the office job saying that I got the job and that I can start the next day! I told them that I was sorry and that I had gotten a job so wouldn’t be able to accept the job. I was speechless, I thought I mustn’t have got the job since it was past the day they said I would start, and hadn’t received anything. Also at the interview I was the youngest one there by quite a bit, so assumed they’d go for one of the others since more experience and probably appeared more confident. But they must have liked me, and I must have filled the forms in correctly, I really had no faith in myself!

Also while waiting for my first shift at the cake shop, I received another phone call, this time from a shoe shop I applied for, asking me to come in for an interview. At the time I was unsure whether to turn it done or not since i was offered a job in the cake shop and thought I would love it, but my Mam convinced me to go to the interview just in case. By the time the interview came along, I already realised that I hated it at the cake shop so I was hoping that I would get this job instead. It was a group interview, and I felt like I did alright. We were working in groups and had to stand up and present in front of everyone, and because of university having to present my working and getting criticised this felt like nothing so I was confident with this aspect especially since most of the others were my age or slightly younger and so were nervous and uncomfortable with doing this. I was told that I would hear back within a week if I got the job, and after this time I could phone up and get feedback.

The week has just passed, and so today I phoned up and asked for feedback. They told me that I seemed very confident, and that they thought I would work really well independently. I was apparently their second choice for the job, and the only reason I didn’t get it was because the girl who did has experience working with children and so would be better suited since its to help for when schools are off. She said if it wasn’t for the fact that its going to be busy with children I would have been offered the job! I cant believe that they thought I was confident! Like I have no confidence, at all! I just hide it so people wont judge me. I have so little faith in myself yet I come across completely different to people who don’t know me, or when I’m trying hard. Its like people like the concept of me but the reality sucks.

And the final job offer, was since I decided I couldn’t stay at the cake shop, I applied for a clothes shop that I have previously worked for, to help them with their sales. I knew I would mostly likely get it, and I wished I’d applied for it earlier so I had a longer contract but oh well. Its strange but before working in the cake shop, I was certain that I didn't want to work at this shop again, but since the cake job it has put things into perspective, and this job doesn’t feel too bad now.

One last thing, Im studying to be an architecture (well interior, but irrelevant here) and one of my Mams friends husbands is a self employed architect of some sort. And basically him and his wife keep suggesting that I work with him, and they seem quite keen. He has met me once, where I asked him lots of questions about being an architect, but he has told my Mam on multiple occasions that he would hire me, and he thinks Id be perfect. My Mam has been friends with his wife for years so he’d have obviously heard bits about me before, but since speaking to me directly, he seems to really like me and want to help me. And thats great and all, but its like he doesn’t really know me, he doesn’t know what I’d be like to work with, he’s just assuming I’d be a great help because of how I came across that one time. I feel like if I did work for him, I’d disappoint him and let him down, he’d realises I’m not as great as he thinks I am.

P.S I don’t feel like I got my point across properly, but this letter is massive and I cant be bothered to write anymore. Basically, I feel like people like the concept of me but the reality sucks. Like I come across well at interviews, and stuff, but when you are left in a room with me I’d bore you, and be useless at whatever task Im meant to be doing.

Make You Miss Me. (3/4)

Soon enough the weeks were turning into months and Amanda still hadn’t left the small town of Charming. She was still sleeping in her old bedroom at her mums place, she’d never gotten around to collecting her furniture or her precious books from the house she had made a home with Tom. She occasionally wondered if he had thrown all her stuff out, or set them on fire as a way to further hurt her. When she felt herself thinking about him, she’d have to take a deep breath before her feelings took over and she became tempted to call him. It didn’t matter that she was still connected to Cillian, she’d been connected and apart of Tom’s life for so long, it was hard to remember how to exist with out him. She couldn’t say it to anyone, she didn’t want to admit that some part of her secretly yearned for him in the late hours when she was alone, but she had found Cillian to be a welcome distraction and the one thing she had made clear, she was NOT his ticket to club information.

As time had carried on, other things unrelated to her were changing. Ryan, had finally asked Sarah to marry him and of course, without even a hiccup Sarah had said yes. Amanda couldn’t have been anymore happier for her friends. These two had been destined together from the get go, they were as strong as ever and nothing could ever ruin the foundation they had built with each other. Even though Amanda was happy for them, she couldn’t help the unease in her stomach as she had received the engagement party invitation… it was to be held at the clubhouse. She sat down heavily in her chair to scan over the details. Could she do this? Could she face him after all this time? Did she look better or worse since he last saw her? She groaned and without much more hesitation, she sent her rsvp to Sarah.

She was going to have to go shopping. She needed to look like she was winning this break up. Even though she knew, deep down, she may have been loosing.

Amanda stood in front of her bedroom mirror and took one final look at her appearance, going over each and every detail. She had had her hair styled into an up do, leaving her neck and shoulders exposed as the sleeves of her dress begun just underneath her shoulders. She’d chosen a nice plum coloured stress and even added some heels to the mix. She was going to do this, she was going to support her friends and let them know she bloody loved them and missed them terribly. Besides, tonight she had some news of her own to deliver to Sarah.

“You’ll be fine love,” Amanda looked over at her ma, “i know you know what he’s been up to ma, just know I’m glad you never told me.” They settled to a spare spot outside the lot, she felt her ma grab her hand, “I raised you to be strong and independent, he was a stupid boy but you are here for Sarah and Ryan. You’re moving on, be proud of that.” Nodding, she took a deep breath and stepped out of the car as gracefully as she could, smiling as her ma linked arms with her. All the memories she had shared at this place started coming to her and she realised she had missed being here, this place had been such an important place to her. God… how could he have destroyed them? Their lives?

She tried really fucking hard to ignore the stares and whispering that was happening. A few of the guys gave her slight nods and she smiled back, but it wasn’t the same. Too much time had passed and she knew he was President now. He was the king, everything he had worked for had finally happened for him, but before she could scan the crowd for her, Sarah crashed into her, hugging her tightly. “Congratulations, it’s about bloody time,” she laughed to her friend, hugging her just as tight. The two parted and she couldn’t help but hug Ryan also, “don’t ever hurt her, because they’ll never find you.” She whispered to him, feeling his chest vibrate as he chuckled, “don’t worry, I can barely function without her. I’m never going to mistreat her.”

The night carried on and Amanda found herself standing in a group with Kozik and a few other outer charter guys, simply shooting the shit, things felt normal and she was enjoying herself. But then she felt it, she felt someone staring at her and she couldn’t tell who it was. Turning her head, she caught his eye and the two ended up just starring at each other, not hearing what was happening around them despite him being a few feet from her still. Her expression was blank, she wasn’t going to give anything away. He had changed, he was more built, more solid than she remembered and his beard was in full swing, but the President patch didn’t go unnoticed ether. Their eyes didn’t stray, not until she felt her phone vibrate in her hand.

“I’m on my way. C.”

She looked back up from the message, saw that Tom was still watching her and finally she sighed before simply shrugging at him. Turning on her heel, she said goodnight to those she was talking to and made her way through everyone to find Sarah, she needed to tell her something important. But as she walked away, she felt relieved, because her and Tom would never be anything again. She no longer felt that magnetic pull towards him, and that sealed the deal for her. They were really over.

“Sarah, can I have a minute?” The two moved to somewhere more quiet, “I want you to know I’m so happy for you,” gosh, how was she supposed to tell her only true friend in the world what she was doing. Looking at her friend, she gave a one armed shrug, “I’m leaving Charming… tonight.” She felt tears starting and laughed softly, “I’m probably making the biggest mistake, but I have to go. This place just isn’t the same for me now.” She hugged her friend tightly once again, “keep me updated on everything. Once I’m settled, I’ll explain it to you. Don’t walk me out, stay and enjoy your night, okay? Go and get stoned with your man.”

Stepping outside, it suddenly felt like the last weight of her troubles was finally coming off her shoulders. So much so that she started grinning to herself, “red, where you going?” She made a stop motion with her hand to Ryan, “I’m moving forward, finally.” Ryan frowned, “stay safe.” Ryan knew Tom was near by with a blonde and a brunette hanging off him, each fighting for the title of Old Lady but he knew Amanda hadn’t seen. He watched as she walked to the end of the lot and he was surprised to see who had pulled up to collect her.

Getting to the car, she gave Cillian a small smile as he got out to open her door, “are you ready love?” he asked as he helped her in, she nodded, “yeah, you still want me to come?” She waited until he was seated in the drivers seat to receive his answer, “I wouldn’t have organised it all back home for you if I didn’t want you with me.”

All she could feel was a nervous energy racing through her body as the plane landed in Belfast, Ireland. Cillian held her hand tightly as they made their way through the airport, his men grabbing their belongings as he ushered her into a car. Her eyes were wide with wonder, trying to take it all in at once. Despite the nerves and excitement, she couldn’t help but begin to question if she really had made the right choice to leave with him. Of course she had wanted out, was sick of living a half life because she couldn’t bare to see Tom or anyone from the club around town, but was moving across the world with a man with ties to that club the best idea? He squeezed her hand and she looked at him, well, if it all went wrong, she could always build herself back up for the second time right?

After a nice, soothing warm shower, Amanda got into some comfortable clothes and began looking around Cillian’s apartment, waiting for him to join her. They needed to have a conversation, one she had had with herself in the shower. She was scanning his bookshelf as he entered the living room with food. “Before we eat, I think we need to draw some lines.” He nodded, telling her to continue, “I need to live separately from you. I can’t get sucked into whatever you’re doing when I’m trying to rebuild myself.” She ran a hand over her face, “I dunno if this even sounds right, I like being with you and whatnot, but I want to remember and find me…” He gave her a grin that could melt her, “you set the pace, I’m just happy that you agreed to join me. And while we are on the subject of sorting ourselves out, I got you a job interview.” He held up his hands before she could but in, “just an interview, you’ll have to win them over, told you I wouldn’t overstep the bounds. Trust me.”

Trust him… well thats exactly what she did. She waited days, weeks and soon months for this all to blow up in her face. For the heartbreak and betrayal to format her full force but it didn’t. Cillian allowed her to rebuild in the ways she needed, gave her the room to breathe when at times it became too much but mostly, he was there when she needed to talk and she found she did have to rehash her past relationship, the relationship that was supposed to be her be all and end all. It had been the final key into being able to completely, and utterly let go of the pain. Life began to not look so grey anymore, she was standing on her own two feet on her terms but without even meaning to, she we aligning herself with Cillian to a blissful point of no return and had no plans to stop.

“Yes Sarah I read the instructions… I don’t know, nothing’s happening.” She let out a shaky breath, “oh by the way, I received the dress, booked in to get it altered just before I fly back.” She laughed, “yeah… I guess I am talking about your wedding at a time like this.” Glancing down, she pinched the bridge of her nose, “is it too late to change my plus one?”

Wedding Day

It had been 12 months since Amanda had left Charming, 12 months since she had been someone she no longer recognised. New job, new life, new world and a new man could work wonders for some. She was undeniably head over heels in love with the Irish man who had convinced her to leave her old life behind. But today wasn’t about her, no, today was about the two people in the world who she loved dearly finally tying the last knot in their lives together. She’d arrived late the night before so no one knew she was here. Of course she had to spend the night before with her best friend, she had missed the hens party, there was no way she was missing this moment.

Morning came quickly, the two having stayed up talking, knowing the make up artist would have fun covering up their under eyes from the lack of beauty sleep but the talk was well needed. As Sarah’s mum got her daughter to eat and consume coffee, Amanda stepped away to get herself ready. Slipping into her dress, she smoothed it into all the right places and adjusted it accordingly, until she was satisfied with the way it sat on her body, figure hugging but understated, there was no question that Sarah had good taste. Her hair was put together perfectly, her make up natural so with one final nod at her reflection, excitement filled her as she made her way through the house to Sarah’s childhood bedroom, “ready to get this dress on?” Sarah’s mum grabbed the gown and the two helped Sarah into it, Amanda getting the lovely honour of zipping and buttoning it into place while Sarah received some words of wisdom from her mum. She looked over her best friends shoulder, looking at their reflection in the mirror, “you look beautiful, he is one lucky man to have you stick by him.”

She helped Sarah get the dress just right before she gave her a hug, “let’s get you married!” She picked up the train of Sarah’s dress and helped her leave the room, wondering if she was ever going to start feeling nervous. There were a lot of people she hadn’t seen in a year who would be here, one person in particular but the nerves never surfaced. She was too busy by the overwhelming joy she felt for her friends and the love she had for a certain man who would be waiting for her at the event. “Ok have we got everything? I’ve given your dad your luggage and he’s assured me it’s where it should be for you both to leave. I have my emergency kit, incase anything goes wrong. We good to go? Right let’s get you in the car!”

Before long, the time came to get ready to walk down the isle. Amanda turned to her best friend, “last chance to run away, I can have you out of her in 5 seconds, 2 if your dad helps me.” She was smiling as she said this, she knew these two would never not be together. “Ok, I’ll see you down there,” the music began to play and she gave Sarah one last hug before it was her time to walk. The moment she stepped out, she felt all eyes in her direction, “it’s fine, they just waiting for Sarah, no big deal, so you look a little different, it’s fiiiiiine.” Ignoring everyone, her eyes scanned the rows of guests as she smiled, her eyes lighting up as she found him sitting close to the front row. He looked handsome as fuck in his crisp, dark grey suit. He winked at her and she felt the faintest blush creep up on her neck and cheeks. God damn.

And then, she had to return her focus on the task at hand. She was Sarah’s Maid of Honour, and naturally everyone knew who Ryan would have chosen as his best man. That’s right, Tom was standing right beside his best friend but he looked a lot different from the last time she had seen him, like the world had hardened him even more. To her surprise, she felt… nothing as she looked towards him, even gave him a small smile of acknowledgement before Ryan caught her attention, “she’s here?” he whispered and she nodded, grinning. Ryan looked at his friend again, about to ask her another question but there was a change in the music and his focus moved to the end of the isle and he felt himself shift on his feet. This was it, fuck he loved her.

Cheers and applause erupted as the newly wed couple shared their first kiss as husband and wife. The two looked even more in love than they had ever looked before, Amanda felt the tears running down her cheeks as she watched them. They linked arms and made their exit, and it was now her turn to link with Tom. He offered his arm and she couldn’t tell if he had wanted to or not, but she linked her arm with his and once again, was shocked that he was having no affect on her. His touch used to make her weak and forget everything, now, he was just another person to her. She could feel how tense he was though as he spoke, “you’re pregnant?” she looked up at him, her eyes damp from tears but a soft smile gracing her features, “I am, 3 months left and then I can hold my little girl.” It was the most she had spoken to him since the night she’d walked out on him, but she wasn’t angry anymore.

As they reached their destination, she unlinked from him and moved to stand in position for a photo and then along with everyone else, cheered the happy couple off as they ventured to the reception. A hand found hers and she lent into the body she felt beside her, “are you alright?” Cillian asked, pulling her close, “I really am, thank you.” They shared a quick kiss before his hand ran protectively over her stomach, “shall we head to the reception? I’m sure Sarah need’s a bathroom break.”

True to form, the reception was in full swing and it looked like it had turned out exactly how Sarah had told Amanda she wanted it. Cillian had stepped away to get her something to eat when Beth, Tom’s mum, approached her. “Wow, you definitely made a change.” A little nervous, Amanda nodded, “that’s one way of putting it. How are you Beth?” The older woman softened slightly, “I’m well love, a lot has changed but some things never do. Tom’s President now,” Amanda watched Beth’s eye sight land on her son, who looked completely disinterested in the blonde who was holding his hand while she spoke to someone. Amanda nodded, “you must be proud.” She didn’t know what to say, at one point this woman was going to be her mother in law, jesus, she had looked to this woman for motherly advice but that felt like a lifetime ago now. “Why didn’t you give him another chance?” Amanda blinked at the question, “Beth, this is not the time, I’m here for Sarah and Ryan. Tom already knows that answer, so you need to go and talk to your son. Excuse me.” Turning on her heal, she walked away from Beth, not wanting to cause a scene. She wasn’t paying attention to where she was going but a hand caught hers, “everything ok love?” She relaxed noticing it was Cillian, “it is now, come on, let’s get a decent spot to hear the speeches.”

There were tears of joy and deep love for the couple as Sarah and Ryan shared their first dance as husband and wife. She was grinning at the two of them and she wiped the tears away quickly to applaud them before everyone else was invited to the dance floor. Cillian wrapped her in his protective embrace and the two moved easily to the song. She could feel eyes on her and she couldn’t help but find them, he was clearly ignoring the attempts of his date to get him onto the dance floor. She almost chuckled, good luck with that love, Tom had never been a dancer except with her in their kitchen, and that was only to make her smile. As the memory faded she looked away from him, she wasn’t going to walk down memory lane now. “Ryan looks like the happiest man alive right now,” she looked over towards Ryan and Sarah and nodded against Cillian’s chest, “he’s never wanted anyone else, never been swayed from her. they are forever those two.” “There’s still hope for us,” She leaned up on her toes, minding her stomach and kissed him, “definitely, plenty of time to find out.”

“Congratulations lovely,” Amanda said softly as she and Sarah hugged. Everyone was staring around waiting to say goodbye. “Enjoy the honeymoon and make sure to enjoy the time with just the two of you, without the club.” Next was Ryan and he still looked confused, “it’s just weird seeing you like this… is he being good to you?” “Ryan, you are about to go ravish your wife! Focus on that, I’m totally fine, the moment I’m not is the moment I call you to come and save me ok?” He nodded, “you fucking better.” Everyone waved goodbye as the two of them left, and Amanda really hoped they took the time to enjoy being separated from the club and all that came with it. “I’m just going to say goodbye to ma and then we can get out of here?” Cillian nodded, “I’ll let them know we are on our way.” He walked away as he pulled his phone out and she moved to where her ma was standing. “Hey, time for me to go as well.” Her ma smiled sadly, “alright darling, let me know when you land. Once I’ve sorted out some time off work I’ll be right there for when my granddaughter is born ok?” “of course, I’ll have the spare room waiting for you, I’m definitely going to need you.” Her ma shook her head, “I think you’ve got this, look at how far you’ve already come my dear.” Hugging her mum she took in the motherly comfort, “love you ma.”

“Car is here, let’s go home.” With both hands on her stomach, she nodded, “sounds good.” Cillian carefully lead her to the car that would take them to the plane he had arranged to get them back to Ireland tonight. She hadn’t even felt the eyes watching her, analysing every detail, studying her. The eyes were willing her to turn around, but she didn’t, she was no longer tuned into his presence. She was really gone for good.

Leaning on his bike, Ryan flicked the cigarette ash to the ground before the toxic stick was back in his mouth. It was early and the weather was cooling down, he’d had a hard time dragging himself away from Sarah that morning. She was even more tempting when he had a meeting early, she could wrap herself around him in such a way that had him completely lost to her. But just as he considered blowing off this meeting, his phone had gone off, telling him the location and that he better get his ass going. He’d just have to focus on the fact he’d get to shoot some guns in the lot without any repercussions.

A silver car pulled up into the space and he didn’t bother to move, knowing that it would be the Irish, they had set this up about and hour outside of town so they wouldn’t draw attention to themselves. “Ryan, nice to see you again.” The accent was thick but Ryan shook the offered hand, “Cillian, how are you?” he watched the Irish man light up, “can’t complain, are you taking charge today?” Ryan shook his head, “Tom is almost here, he got caught up with another meeting. Not gonna be a problem is it?” he watched the other man frown, “no, I’ve dealt with Tom from the beginning.” Ryan moved his head from side to side, stretching out his neck, “just… don’t mention Amanda and Andy ok?” Before the two could discuss the matter further, another bike joined them and Ryan jumped up, flicked his smoke away and went to meet his boss, his brother while Cillian moved to get his men to organise the guns.

“Bit fucking early for this shit brother,” Ryan said in good humour, “why’d we have to do it at this time? We’ve got nothing else on today.” He listened to Tom’s rather blunt reply, not taking any offence, it was just how he was now. Tom had become more blunt and disconnected since the wedding, jesus, he was still reckless with their work but nothing Ryan said could change anything. “Surprised you were allowed outta bed this morning, miss whats her name sure has her claws in.” it was no secret to anyone that Ryan couldn’t stand Tom’s girlfriend, the girl he’d cheated on Amanda with. He was fairly certain Tom was sleeping around on her too, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.

The two of them moved to the table set up and Ryan’s mood was slowly improving, “is this the standard order we’ll be receiving?” he asked. “Aye, the Ak-47s and the glocks. I’m still searching for a supplier for the .223s ye requested, but the Aks at this time are not in short supply, so if you need, we can double the order.” Ryan looked at Tom, “that should keep black happy and possibly Alvarez if we still wanna expand, he has been asking.” “Everything is the same with shipping, we’ll send them dismantled, your boys will assemble and then run them to your other charters like discussed. If your into any issues, let us know, we’ve made some connections state side that could benefit you.”

“Anything else?” Ryan lit up another smoke as Tom finally spoke, he watched Cillian look to him, the two becoming eye locked and he wondered how this would play out. “We’d prefer it if you cut ties with the Russian pipeline you’ve previously had. We can handle the gun demand, but we won’t share customers with those bastards.” Ryan shrugged, he’d be happy to drop the Russians, “we’ll put it to a vote.” Cillian nodded to Tom, “let me know how that pans out. Now if you don’t have anything else, we’ve been state side long enough. Keep these, and the ones in the trunk as a sign of good faith. I’ll be back with the major delivery in a weeks time. Ryan, give my families regards to Sarah.��

Ryan and Tom were standing near their bikes, smoking, as the Irish left the lot. They were waiting for a prospect to come with the van to collect the guns. “We can scout another pipeline if you don’t trust the Irish. Though,” he exhaled, “they can definitely keep up with the demand of the other charters.” He looked at his boss, who was like a stone wall, no expression. He inwardly groaned, “let’s get outta here.”

I do not think I should have to pay all this money because the insurance company screwed me over by failing to put my claim through. My claims agent even said that he forgot about my case! I haven't been driving the Nissan this whole time. Do you think that if I provide proof that I had been driving another car (Corolla title and insurance policy info), I will not have to pay these outrageous fees? My 17 year old son was driving his 2003 Ford Explorer, when he was hit by another vehicle. My son was approaching a stop light and traveling between 3-5 mph....The vehicle that struck him was a company work vehicle. The work truck was pulling out of a parking lot when he hit my son. His estimated speed was also 3-5 mph. There were no injuries at all, and there was no medical treatment sought. This all happened on April 10th 2011. It was found that driver of the work truck was at fault for inattention. Honestly, this guy was super nice and walked my son through the process of calling police etc til I could get there....Now dealing with the Companies insurance carrier has been a headache!!!! here is the basic timeline....Explorer still drivable....Had to wait 10 days for police report....contacted Company that owned work truck, and they forwarded me to their insurance co....Was advised to seek several estimates, and fax them over....Faxed over estimates to adjuster. All estimates exceeded 5k....Stated she would have to contact an adjuster from local area to work this. Local adjuster came out. Estimated damages to be 3300.00. Insurance Company sent me check for 3300.00 and advised me when vehicle repaired, auto shop would need to work with adjuster on any additional repairs and costs. Explorer was in shop 30 days before finally being totaled. Local adjuster was horrible to work with, did not communicate with body shop, etc. I finally contacted the insurance company, and told them I refused to deal wither contracted adjuster etc. Now that the vehicle has been totaled, they don't want to pay what I think is fair. The insurance company wants to settle for $6928 plus $367 for taxes. Clean retail for the Explorer is $8100. This is for my area. I have been car shopping for 2 days straight. can't find anything comparable with the money they gave me etc. I have taken off work to deal with this etc, been going on for 2 months plus, and Iam worn out with it all...All I want is for my kid to be back in a safe reliable vehicle. They say that now, insurance companies can no longer deny insurance to people with pre -existing conditions. So what was HIPAA passed in 1996 for? Oh, hello there, I didn’t see you come in.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by. I am new to this tumblr world: only seeing posts from Facebook and liking them.

I don’t know how much to share in this opening post. I want to posts as often as I can. Whether it is about D&D, thoughts around D&D, my adventures with D&D or other geeky related things.

To start, I would like to share my most recent adventure. I play a level 7 Wood Elf Druid called Nenya. She is an... urban druid. She’s on the run from her tribe and she believes that, rather than relying heavily to the forests for cover, she would stick close to cities for coverage. She still connects with nature and will do what she can to cultivate the local environment, but she wants to develop balance between nature and human societies.

I liked the idea of going against the classic druid archetype. Nenya is still one with nature and will do what she can to protect it. I didn’t want to make Nenya a complete “tree hugger” through. I wanted to make her aware that there is life in all places of the world; whether in a forest or a city. And that balance between the two is necessary for the other to grow. She will never be a city kid, and would choose to run through an open field feeling free or transform into a shark and swim like I did when I was a kid. (Also, just in general, I am so excited to be able to fly as eagle. And don’t even get me started on Elementals. Gonna be rad af.

With that in mind, I really liked the idea of balance. How you need both to survive, but one cannot over take the other. You take what you need, not what you want sort of mentality. And even though Nenya came from a tribe of Elves that grew up with this mind set that nature takes precedent, she fights back and will help all walks of life grow in their respected way: but only if it will maintain cohesive balance.

SO. Back to the story. Nenya has befriended a Paladin. Now, this goes against most druid and their beliefs with religion. But, her Paladin friend hasn’t done anything to harm her or convert her, and he as defended her many a time, so Nenya trusts him.

For now.

Recently, Nenya has been recruited by a fellow Druid to a group of international Guardians. She is extremely hesitant, as Nenya does not like to be held down for a long period of time. As well, she is a bit of a loner she thrives on her independence. Nenya is cautious about not only the organization, but those she has banded with. Her only companion in the world is the Paladin, and he believes that being with the group is necessary. As well, he reminds her that being with a group could help her from those trying to capture her and bring her back home.

Nenya gingerly accepts his logic and follows his lead.

After a dealing with a city filled with Werewolves (in which she had a low charisma moment and turned into a dire wolf... in the middle of a werewolf infested city... oh boy that that fun...) they return to the sanctuary only to be sent out with only a short rest.

Now. I get being pushed and challenged. But when a druid spends half her spell slots on fighting werewolves, girl needs a rest. Especially needing to choose new spells. But nope, out we go to a desert to investigate the ruins of a Bahamut temple with a sacred egg, to which will provide power to either followers of Bahamut or Tiamut, depending who wields it. On the way, we discover that a group of Tiamut followers were racing to get there as well.

Yes. We sailed Dune Buggies. It was the bees knees. And a sandstorm behind us (Darude was played) We had Dune Buggy sail off. We won.

After dealing with a Sphinx and answering her riddles, we made our way to find chamber with the egg. Before leaving, we were warned of that we would come across a Medusa and more Tiamat followers.

Well. Shit.

We get to the chamber and lo and behold, more Tiamat followers. We spend a bunch of spells on them, including my Entangle spell (rad sauce) and then turning into a Giant Spider (Me: ew. Nenya: Let’s do this).

On the up side, when we found the Medusa, Nenya wouldn’t be immediately turned to stone because of blind sight. (Rad). BUT, Nenya was paralyzed from a lighting attack for 3 rounds (fml).

As a player, I got frustrated. There are 6 spell casters and they all do radical spells. It takes a while to figure things out, but we are a patient bunch. I did get pissy (sorry not sorry) because I waited a good 40 minutes of doing NOTHING when everyone else was doing awesome stuff.

It was remedied at the end.

So. We complete the mission and all is good. Myself and Nenya were thinking “Yes, long rest time, gonna get some new spells”. We arrive in this mystical sanctuary and our contact for the organization was barely content with the results. He takes the egg and tells us that after a short rest, we are to head out again.

Now. This is our second huge Dungeon Crawl and we are barely holding on without a long rest. One character even killed herself and was able to instantly resurrected so she can replenish her spells. (Wild Magic, am I right?) And since this is the beginning of our new campaign, I had a basic selection of spells on my prepared list. I have 2 lists on the ready for when I can change my spells. But I can’t change any spells on a short rest.

Nenya was mad. She already doesn’t trust the organization. She tried to walk away the first time, but the Paladin convinced her to stay. And now some stranger is basically using her and those she fights with as tools. Nenya has vowed to herself not to be used as a tool for gaining power. She wants to help, but on her terms.

Nenya was completely defiant against the shady contact. Nenya put actively disagreed and demanded a long rest. The rest of her group agreed and made their arguments, but the contact would not listen.

At this point, Nenya wanted nothing more with the organization. She decided she wanted out of the Guardians, as she was no longer a druid but a tool. As Nenya began to leave, the contact waved his hand and froze her in place.

If there was any subtle signs that things were bad, this was the first obvious indication.

She was released from her paralysis, and this did not improve her mood. Nenya grew furious and outraged. She spat back at the contact, roaring back with every comment he made. Even a low Dire Wolf growl made its way up.

Once more, she made an attempt to leave the sanctuary. This time, in a Darth Vader fashion, Nenya felt an unseen force around her neck: choking the life out of her.

The group took notice. The Cleric used a detect good and evil spell and was told that yes, the contact was evil. This caused the contact to choke out the Cleric.

The Paladin, seeing his new companion and his friend being choked out, demanded that the contact stop. The contact let go, and moments before Nenya could literally go beast mode, the Paladin held her back.

Nenya glares with pure hatred at the contact. She hates the situation that she is in and will fight, literally, with tooth and claw to get out. Nenya also heeds the logic of her companions and backs down.

The group agreed that playing along and then when sent out is the safest plan of action. Even when suspicions of why the contact needs all these powerful artifacts, it would be better to get out of the sanctuary than to be held captive.

As well, they need allies. There are other members of the Guardians that would be better suited to help. The last thing that was agreed upon before ending the session was that the contact was evil and that whatever mission they were to be sent out to next, they needed to also find help from other Guardians.

^^^ Basically me right now.

I am out of school and need some way keep my attention occupied. I adore D&D for this reason. I am in a creative field and playing D&D is like a workout for my creativity. It keeps me on my toes and will help me work out creative problems for other projects that I have.

And, I adore Nenya. I have another character, Sora, who is a Paladin from an earlier campaign (and will pop up in this campaign at some point). Sora was my first, but Nenya is a lot of fun. Druids in general are fun. They can be tricky but I think they provide creative solutions to problems that traditional spell casters have. I miss Sora, but she is still alive and I am ok with that.

I want to keep sharing my experiences with D&D. I also play a shorter campaign in a hobby shop and thats a totally different experience. It can be hard sharing with people who don’t understand, but I feel there is a lot to be taken away from games like D&D and other role playing games.

(PS - just discovered my favourite D20 glows in the dark. I am happy af).
