Presents for Kisses

FIC SUMMARY: Every time Zhenya gives Sid presents, he gets kisses in exchange…he takes it too the extreme.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This is a gift for Bee aka @nomorelonelydays, who won my fic raffle! I know this isn’t exactly what you prompted, but I hope this is still okay! I took inspiration from your many different headcanons about Geno just spoiling Sid with gifts.

“Here, Sid!”

Sidney looked down at the box of Reese’s minis in a heart-shaped box that Zhenya was presenting to him, then looked up at him. “Zhenya, what’s this for?”

Zhenya shrugged. “Just want to give you little gift.”

“You didn’t have to though.”

“I’m want to. Want to show my love I care.”

Taking the box, Sid opened it and quickly unwrapped a piece before quickly shoving it in his mouth, moaning happily as he did so.

Zhenya smiled. Only chocolate from a grocery store would make Sid act like that.

“That’s heavenly. Thank you!” He pulled him down for a kiss, chocolate lingering on his lips.

“You quite welcome, Sidka.” Zhenya smiled wider as he sat down next to Sid on the couch, wrapping an arm around his waist and snuggling close to him.

They continued kissing in between feedings of chocolate until the box was empty.

“Thank you again, Zhenya.” Sid said when they broke away. “You know how much I love Reese’s Peanut Butter cups.”

“I do.” Zhenya says as he kisses him again. “Know what I’m got in freezer?”

“Hmm?”

“Chocolate strawberries.”

“Really?” Sid smirked, looking at him was a raise eyebrow. “Got a chocolate craving, or do you just like the taste of chocolate on my lips?”

Zhenya had a look that was a mix of innocence and guilty. “I’m allowed to say both!”

Sid giggled. “Silly! Since we ate all the Reese’s, may as well polish those off.”

As he got up to get the strawberries, Zhenya was planning what gift he should give next.

The Next Day

“Flowers for my Sid!”

Sid squeaked out a noise of surprise as the large box of flowers was shoved in his face. He blinked a few times then sighed. “Zhenya, we talked about the rose thing, didn’t we?”

This wouldn’t be the first time he’s given Sid bouquets, boxes, or anything holding flowers for some random reason or other. It was like every other day he was seeing them all around the house.

It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy them, it was just that it was getting to be too excessive for him.

“We did.” Zhenya admits, looking at him sheepishly. “But you know me, still want to give you them anyways.”

With another sigh, Sid took the peach-colored hat box from him. They were very lovely flowers though, red roses specifically. There was also note hanging off the box that read:

To my sweetest, Sid! I love you! - Zhenya x

Sid looked at it and smiled. “What is it with you Russians and roses?” He leaned forward and kisses Zhenya sweetly. “Thank you though. They’re beautiful.”

“That not all though.” Zhenya explains. “They eternity roses, mean they last all year. 36 of them.”

“Just 36?” Sid asks. “You usually tend to get more. What was the most you gave me, 1000?”

“But that was for 1000th points, deserve that many flowers for big moment!”

And it was true, before that game against Winnipeg last season, Zhenya had ordered 10 bouquets of 100 roses in celebration for Sid’s 1000th point. He had Dana help him get all of them on the ice before they presented Sid with his golden stick.

It truly was a surprise for Sid, as he wasn’t expecting Zhenya to do anything this extravagant for him. Nonetheless, it was a super sweet gesture from his boyfriend.

“Very true.” Sid tells him. “So, were you expecting 36 kisses or 365?”

Zhenya blinks in surprise but gives him a wolfish grin. “Both?”

“Zhenya!” Sid shrieks in laughter. “I can’t give you 400 kisses!”

“Sure you can!” he says happily, wrapping his arms around Sid. He cups his face and has him peck him on the lips. “There’s one, now 399 more!”

Sid laughs again, but caves in and starts kissing him. “2…3…4…”

He doesn’t actually make it to 400, as the count grew, Sid melted into Zhenya’s arms and the little kisses became one long make-out session.

The Following Night

“Sid? You come here please?”

When he heard the stomping of footsteps, his felt excitement creeping up on him. It only increased when Sid walked into the room.

“Yeah, Zhenya? What is it?”

“Close your eyes.” he orders him immediately.

Confused, Sid did what he was told and he felt himself being dragged towards Zhenya. “What are you—”

“Shh,” Zhenya hushed as he opened the velvet box in his hands and unclasped what he was holding, before slipping the cold metal around Sid’s neck. “Okay, can open now.”

As soon as he did, Sid gasped loudly when he saw the jewelry that was placed on him. The necklace was silver and had the largest drop diamond that Sid’s ever seen. Other smaller diamonds decorated his neck.

“Zhenya…Zhenya what is— I can’t have—”

“Yes you can. You deserve it, Sid.” Zhenya whispers in his ear. He turned his head and kissed him soundly. “Want to give you best, and only best.”

The minute he kissed him, realization dawned on Sid. “Wait a minute.” He completely turns around to face him. “Have you been…buying all these gifts…just so I could kiss you?”

A blush quickly spread across Zhenya’s face as he stammered. “N-No! Is not just that! Though that big part of it, but I’m want to spoil you and I—”

“Zhenya!” Sid cut him off quickly, laughing brightly. “You don’t have to spoil me with all these gifts if you want me to kiss you! All you had to do was ask me!”

The blush on his face deepened as he shifted uncomfortably, but he relaxed when he felt Sid kiss him long and sweetly, wrapping his arms around his waist.

When they broke away, Sid’s bright smile turned soft. “But thank you, truly. These have been wonderful gifts and, even if I still think you spend too much money, I really do love it.”

That made Zhenya feel better as he smiled down at Sid. “Necklace not that much.”

“Do you see how many diamonds on this thing?! It had to have cost a fortune!”

“You deserve it though!”

“In your eyes, I suppose.”

“So how many kisses I’m get, hmm?”

Smirking, Sid lightly shoved Zhenya to the bed, straddling his hips. “Why do I have a strong feeling you want more than just kisses? I mean, you did buy me this necklace after all.”

A groan escaped Zhenya as he quickly started to tear Sid’s clothes off him.

The metal shone brightly in the dimly-lit room, making little bell-like jingles as the only other sounds that came from the room were Sid’s blissful moans.

Singapore Travel Tips and Things to Do

The island city-state of Singapore is a truly fascinating place. It is a melting pot of culture, a high-tech urban hub, and one of the world’s most kid-friendly destinations. I’ve visited Singapore numerous times, with and without my daughter, and think this destination should be on every traveler’s must-see list.

In this post, I share my best Singapore travel tips and some of my family’s favorite things to do in Singapore. Under each section, I list tips for how to buy tours and tickets for less, and this is mostly done through a highly rated and large Singapore-based travel company called Klook.

Singapore Travel Tips

Many people are happily surprised to discover that traveling in Asia is easy. Visiting Singapore is no exception, but it’s nice to know what to expect. Here are some Singapore travel tips I share when friends and family express an interest in visiting the city.

Visit in the Driest Season

The critical thing to know is that the weather in Singapore is hot and humid year-round, and there’s always the possibility of rainfall. That said, if you want potentially the least amount of rain during your visit, plan your trip for June, July, or August (though expect some rain during these months, too).

If visiting Singapore with kids, don’t pack your itinerary too full because they will need downtime in the heat.

Eat Like a Local

The food in Singapore is, frankly, amazing, and one of my favorite things to do in Singapore is to eat. While you could stick to Michelin starred restaurants (there are tons), definitely make time to check out the food centers and hawker stalls where you’ll find some of the best chicken rice, chili crab, and laksa.

What to Pack

Singapore is consistently humid, so one of my top Singapore travel tips is to stick with natural fibers like linen and light cotton when you’re packing. Tunics are an excellent option because they’ll protect your skin from the harsh equatorial sun while keeping you cool.

Bug spray and sunscreen are mandatory no matter what time of year you’re visiting. Do not forget a hat and UV umbrella to provide some shade while sightseeing. We also like handheld fans that mist water. Singaporean heat is no joke.

Where to Stay

During our trips to Singapore, we’ve loved staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore and Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, and I’d recommend either as a perfect home base whether you’re traveling solo, on a couple’s getaway, or visiting Singapore with kids. The historic Raffles Hotel (where the Singapore Sling was invented) is another option for a luxury hotel (though it’s closed for restoration until August 2019), but there are many, many wonderful hotels in Singapore for every budget.

Ask About the Handy

If you don’t want to go through the hassle of figuring out how to get your U.S. mobile phone to work in Asia — or you don’t want to pay for roaming charges — ask your hotel if you can borrow a “handy.” These are complimentary phones with local SIM cards that many hotels keep on hand for guests. Many luxury hotels already have Handys waiting in every room.

Cabs Are Plentiful

Locals will typically choose a cab ride over a stroll (possibly because of the heat and humidity), so you’ll never have trouble finding a ride. They’re also inexpensive, despite Singapore’s reputation as the world’s most expensive locale. I would also highly recommend that you download the Grab app, which is Singapore’s version of Uber.

Know the Rules

Singapore is known for being a clean and safe destination, and that’s partly because there are many laws and regulations locals uphold. One of the most important Singapore travel tips I can share is to be aware of the rules. For example, chewing gum in public, forgetting to flush a public toilet, and feeding pigeons can all result in a fine.

Things to Do in Singapore

There are so many amazing things to do in Singapore that it’s hard for me to choose just a few. Below, you’ll find some of our favorites.

National Gallery Singapore

This museum houses the most extensive public collection of modern art in all of Southeast Asia. There are more than 8,000 pieces of art, and you could easily spend an entire day wandering around the galleries. Start your visit at the “Siapa Nama Kamu? Art in Singapore Since the 19th Century” exhibit, which features art that explores the country’s identity.

The Singapore Zoo

This is a must-do for families visiting Singapore with kids. The Singapore Zoo is famous for its open-concept enclosures that put visitors very close to the wonderful animals that call the zoo home. Yes, these are orangutans swinging over my daughter’s head as she walks down one of the zoo pathways.

Speaking of orangutans, we always book Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife when visiting the Singapore Zoo. You’ll enjoy a huge buffet, listen to zookeepers talk, and get an up-close look at the orangutans who climb down to eat, too, snakes and more.

Check out the zoo’s schedule before you go because there are lots of animal feedings and other activities each day. River Safari Singapore is located next door to the Singapore Zoo. If you have the energy, you can visit both in one day.

Jurong Bird Park

This is the largest bird park in Asia, with more than 5,000 animals representing 400 species in its 50 acres of green spaces. Four large aviaries mimic lush natural habitats, and you can see everything in a half day visit.

When we went, we booked the Jurong Bird Park Feeding Frenzy Tour for a fun experience that I highly recommend (it was nice to be driven around in a cart with a young child in Singaporean heat).

Universal Studios® Singapore

One of the most obvious things to do in Singapore with kids that’s always a hit is to visit Universal Studios Singapore on Sentosa Island. There are seven movie-themed lands with twenty-four rides, shows, shopping, character experiences, and lots of other fun stuff to do for both kids and grown-ups. Purchasing tickets in advance is a must as the park limits the number sold each day.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

While there are many green spaces to explore here, the Singapore Botanic Gardens (a UNESCO World Heritage site) stands out. Set on 60 acres of what was once plantation land, four distinct gardens feature thousands of species of orchids, beautiful tropical plants, beautiful landscaping, children’s areas with tree houses, and other attractions. Admission is free.

The heat makes it a bit hard to explore but rest-assured it’s worthwhile. Before moving back to San Diego, we’d spent so much time in Singapore that I wanted to replicate a Singaporean garden at home. We don’t have the climate (despite much care, I learned this the hard way) so do enjoy the lush greenery and orchid arches when there.

The Night Safari

Singapore is home to the world’s first safari park showcasing nocturnal animals. The Night Safari is one of the most interesting things to do in Singapore for visitors of all ages. The complimentary guided tram tour only takes 40 minutes and takes guests through each habitat for close-up views of nocturnal animals from 130 species.

After the tour, you can explore the trails on your own or check out the Creatures of the Night show. Rest assured that plenty of snacks and adult beverages can be enjoyed during your visit.

Ethnic Neighborhoods: Little India, Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Katong/Joo Chiat

No visit to Singapore is complete without visiting at least one of these neighborhoods!

Singapore is a true multicultural destination. The Chinese, the Malay, and the Indian populations have all contributed to Singapore’s cultural richness while still celebrating their art, festivals, and cuisine. You can experience the diversity of Singapore by traveling to these enclaves (be sure to eat).

In Little India, you’ll find an abundance of fantastic food and one of Singapore’s oldest Hindu temples. Chinatown is home to traditional medicine bars and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum plus cool restaurants and bars. Kampong Glam is home to the golden Sultan Mosque and Haji Lane — a colorful, narrow, and artsy street that is one of the most Instagrammable spots in Singapore. Joo Chiat is the most famous street in the Peranakan neighborhood of Katong, and you must go there to eat. (Peranakan are native-born people of mixed local and foreign ancestry. In Singapore, this refers to Straits-born Chinese whose culture and language is Malay influenced.)

Gardens by the Bay

This urban jungle on Marina Bay has three waterfront gardens showcasing the best and most beautiful tropical flora and garden artistry. There’s plenty to keep you busy, from strolling along the 419-foot aerial walkway supported by eighteen super-trees to wandering around the Flower Dome (the largest greenhouse in the world) to visiting the Cloud Forest, where you can find the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Make sure to stay for the evening Garden Rhapsody light and music show.

This Insta-ready 57th-floor observation deck is open to the public, though it should be noted that the Marina Bay Sands rooftop infinity pool (the world’s largest) is for guests only.

The panoramic views of the Singapore skyline from the observation deck are breathtaking.

The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

You’ll find fantastic hiking trails less than eight miles from the city center in this beautiful 403-acre reserve. There are four routes to choose from — two that are easy, one that will give you an excellent workout, and one that is best for experienced hikers — plus a designated mountain biking trail. All of these paths will take you through some gorgeous tropical flora.

The Spectra Light and Water Show

Seeing the Spectra Light and Water Show should be on your list of things to do in Singapore if it is your first time here. This evening show, which happens daily, features perfectly choreographed singing fountains and light projections. One of the best spots to catch it is from just outside the main entrance of the Marina Bay Sands mall, the pedestrianized walkway around Marina Bay, or from your room at the following hotels:

Shop Orchard Road

Known as Singapore’s shopping street, Orchard Road was once lined by plantations but today is home to luxury boutiques and other high-end stores. There are also lovely dining options, spots to grab a quick glass of wine, and beautiful little cafes.

Highlights include ION Orchard mega shopping mall with its luxury brands and food hall. Tang’s is a local department store that’s been open here since 1932 should you want to browse Asian homewares, local as well as international designers, and its massive beauty hall. We also have spent hours in the gigantic Kinokuniya bookstore in Ngee Ann City browsing comics, anime, cookbooks, office supplies, and more.

Go to the Beach and Play on Sentosa Island

There’s nothing like swimming in the calm waters off Sentosa Island and then drying off on the soft, warm sand.

Siloso Beach is a popular spot for both locals and tourists for its kayak rentals and cool restaurants, and I recommend rounding out your Singapore vacation with some unstructured beach time. My daughter would not sightsee once we landed on Sentosa Island’s beaches as she enjoyed them so much.

Other things to do on Sentosa Island (other than Universal Studios Singapore) include Fort Siloso and the Fort Siloso Skywalk, S.E.A. Aquarium AJ Hacket bungee tower, Adventure Cove Waterpark, KidZania Singapore, Mega Adventure Park and much more.

To give you an idea, it takes about 15 minutes to get to Sentosa Island from Marina Bay. You can also stay on Sentosa Island at the luxe Capella Singapore.

Screaming Forever

I need you guys to weigh in as to what you’d like fr the 400 Followers celebration because I kinda... screwed up.. badly.

I thought I’d saved the five hours of animating I did before my software crashed.

NOPE

Well then.

The options are

1) I start over animating from scratch using a program I’ve never used before.

2) I could do a raffle for a fanfic thing (since that’s my best skill tbh). Whoever wins gets a SFW xReader fic written for them

3) I could stream and ya’ll can watch Sans kick my butt

4) Maybe I could try to get Drawpile working and we can all jam ourselves into a server and draw shitposts

The Fullerton Spa was a real treat. Being on the road so much, traveling from place to place can be hard on your body and spirit. Constantly packing and unpacking, standing in airport terminals, walking miles and miles every day…it can take its toll. But just walk into the spa and you’re in a different world. Everything slows down. They offer signature treatments, massages, scrubs and wraps, and facials. You’ll also have use of their sauna and steam room if you just want a bit more. I can tell you that I walked out from my treatment renewed and rejuvenated, ready to tackle the world again (after a little nap).

I also relished the rooftop infinity pool. You could hang out and enjoy the bay view and the city skyline at the same time. In the morning, the pool was almost deserted, allowing for some exercise (or just floating around). At dusk, the light that played off the glass-front buildings was spectacular. (Photo op!) And the fact that you could order both food and drink to enjoy while relaxing was a bonus.

All in all, our experience at The Fullerton Bay Hotel was just what we needed, some relaxing, indulgent down time at a luxury destination. We found that the Best luxury hotel in Singapore was more than just a hotel, it’s really an experience.

Okay first of all on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, MIchael and I met with the head of marketing for Dos Lagos to review and finalize details to pursue our idea of having one day a month, preferably the first Sunday, be a PET SOCIAL at their beautiful location. And, get all the paperwork finished, i.e. contracts. Insurance secured, and details of the planned itinerary for each show from time to activities. Swirling in my head has been to create a day not about us, but about bringing together our community of dog, and pet lovers, to share their animals, enjoy some quality speakers from vets, to trainers, to people with books or TV shows sharing new ideas on pet care, and even have some neighborhood kids singing to entertain all. And have raffles, a bake shop, and other fun little entities. The entire event is about bringing our community together, and also let people know about our dogs in need of new homes, plus the animals waiting to be saved in our shelters. So, upon leaving there, I was in the clouds. Now, however, on Tuesday, when we had our first appointment, I was unable to walk that morning, and had to postpone the meeting a day, however it was all working out. The marketing professional has bigger ideas than me! That says a lot about this creative man. He plans in a few months, because he’s sure we will be packed to close off streets. YES YES YES. Then the next morning, Michael and I had to get up really early as I had a long awaited appointment with the top spinal neurologist surgeon at USC. I had seen him before; he did not think he could redo my four botched back and sacrum surgeries; suggested I get a spinal NEURO transmitter, kind of like a pacemaker for the spine. I cant walk, my left leg is nearly all dead, and each day the pain is excruciating. His EMG test showed my L4, L 5, and S 1 in my spine were severed. But I felt in my heart the NEURO deal was just a bandaid. I don’t need a bandaid. I need a solution. Everyday I cant walk, and the pain is excruciating. Well, this man had been working trying to figure out what was the real problem. And he found out the issue, My sacrum is not straight. He sent all my records, and tests, to John Hopkins and other outside resources too. Well, 12 years ago, I broke my sacrum ice skating in northern Minnesota on Christmas Eve day, Dressed up in a winter wonderland dress, new skates, and rolling along with my cousins on an area all the boys had cleared for us girls. Hot toddies were at our pit stops, Im with my cousins that have been in my life since born, its Christmas and just like all our Christmas Holidays as children, we were together, and skating . . . . . Oh let the Minnesota wind blow! Plus I looked so cute. Well, the rink was a little bumpy. Hey the guys are older now too, but who cared; not me! But thirty minutes out I went down on my ribs, yes I broke a couple of those too, but I did not care. I got up and flew off to skate more. Im nearly flying. Happy? I was in heaven! However THEN I fell on my back. Oh brother! I could not get up! OOPS. And dear Michael comes over to me, my pretty dress ripped at the bottom, I can’t get up at all, and he says, “I thought you were a really great skater?.” Yeah, yeah, well guess Ive lost some of my flight with age. Us kids skated hour after hour as children. But those years had long passed, and I knew I was in trouble. The boys, now men, had to carry me back to the house. Good grief! And pain, I think I drank an entire bottle of Minnesota Brandy! It was interesting though, I was still having the time of my life. I was with my dear dear cousins, we played Bingo for Christmas Eve, nearly killing each other over getting the extraordinary gifts, of ducks carved by one of the guys, blankets hand made, and just precious gifts. You toss dice, and when the gifts are all opened, you toss the dice among you, and when you get doubles, you can take a gift from another person. That’s when the fun begins. As kids we were dangerous over the gifts mostly hand made. No wonder I have such a diligent drive to WIN! And never give up. So all my childhood memories I was reliving. Little did I know I had SHATTERED my SACRUM. Shattered! I had destroyed my sacrum. But with cocktails, laughter and a MInnesota old-fashioned blizzard, just like when I was a child, I was on a cloud. Michael and I had driven to Minnesota to fix up my aunt’s home. She was found murdered, oh thats another story, she was MURDERED. I was her executor and niece. She and my mom were very close, and Nancy spent all her summers with her children, same age as me, at our supper club. Now she was dead, and it was and still is a horror. Another day I will tell all, but not right now. But we are in a truck, 400 miles north of the cities, and thousands of miles north of our home in California. The day after Christmas, we still had celebrating to do, the usual meal, And just sharing all our tales. But the following day MIchael and I headed down to Minneapolis, in a a severe snowstorm which for me made the trip bearable, and memorable, and fun! Im easy to please! We decided we would go to the hospital in the cities, as if I had to go into a hospital MIchael could be working on the my aunts house that had been stripped and nearly destroyed by a stranger she had befriended. A lonely woman in need of love! Well Edina hospital informed me my tail bone was broken, and just needed to heal. And gave me I think 250 20 mg. Of Percocet. Yikes. And my many other relatives made sure we had liquor. I love being in Minnesota! We had a balloon bed on the floor. I hurt so bad, and could not lift my legs at all; couldn’t really walk, but I supervised! We were thinking of moving back there at this point. My aunts home was beautiful, it had just been harmed, but it was coming together so elegant, and I thought I would finally get to go back home. A dream in my heart for years. But it did not happen. I was too sick, and we did what was critical, well Michael did, and headed home to California. We set up pillows and tried to make me comfortable, it was a horrible ride though. We met Michaels mom, dad, sister and family in Arizona. They were celebrating a family anniversary. I tried to attend the dinner, but we had to get up and leave. We got on the highway. I needed to be in a hospital, and we needed to get home. At the dinner table, I asked everyone for their drinks . . . .told them not to worry they should order a couple more. The pain had become excruciating. And then we were home, we did not even go home, Michael drove us to our Corona hospital, where they told me to study yoga, and within minutes Michael took me to UCI. Immediately I was given Morphine. I had never had morphine, that I knew about, and I made them flush it out, I hated the feeling, but other drugs were acceptable. Then I was told my sacrum was shattered. However by now, it had started to heal. I was placed in the hospital for a few days, but made a decision to just let it heal. I COULD NOT GO THRU the PAIN again! For eight months I could not walk. But I exercised faithfully and hard core daily, and finally I was at least able to walk. I thought I was going to be okay. I didn’t realize my sacrum made the structure of my body unstable and unbalanced. Well, that fall and the damage is my entire problem today. UCI with my four surgeries never fixed the sacrum. My back sticks out which is not acceptable. My doctor at USC says you can’t walk for long with the position of my spine. You lose all stability. I only have a few months to get things fixed, or I can become paralyzed. This doctor was haunted by what he had seen in my tests. He told me on this morning, August 2, 2018, that he could fix me or at least give it all he has, as I DONT HAVE A CHOICE. I was beyond happy, I now had hope and a real solution. I can be fixed. Then I had a CT Angiogram with contrast. Remember I had a heart attack and have congestive heart. failure, with a definite constricted heart. The new back surgery is dangerous, so all has to be cleared. I have the test done, and found out my veins are just not working at this time.. They had to use my hand for the IV for the contrast. What else can go wrong. But moving right along, test all done, Michael and I are almost home after another long journey now from LA USC to home in Corona; it’s about 3:30. My cardiologist phones: “You need to turn your car around and come back here. We need to put you in the hospital immediately. You have clot in you lung. You have a critical pulmonary embolism!” “WHAT?” No. Michael turned the car around, but the traffic was absolute grid-lock. He said we needed to go to Corona.....NO NO NO! Anyway, no choice I could die taking the ride. So We went to Corona. First thing I am told is this hospital no longer has a cardiac department, oh goodness. But they did have lung doctors.
