and what does it mean to be fated? is it something only a rock can dictate, as it spits out names side by side that aren’t both of yours? or does it mean to choose, and choose, and choose again? to find each other as mortals, as shadows, as a little fox and a former emperor in the cracks of light and the darkest corners?
you are dong hua-dijun, and you are not supposed to care. you are a symbol of peace, the pillar that holds up the skies. you are why the realms are still standing. worldly affairs do not concern you, but she is not a worldly affair; she is the world itself. you can let go of everything else but her. she is your lover, your partner, your empress, your wife, your equal. death cannot split you into two, not when she is half of your heart already. you would give her all of it if only she would take it, but she wants you to keep it. she teaches you to keep things for yourself, and that there is so much more to living than giving yourself up for other people. you would live for her and die for her. you want to live with her and die with her. you cannot afford to want anything, but for her, you want everything.
you are bai fengjiu, and you care too much. you met him in scriptures, in the brush portraits that you’d painted based on conjecture and histories you never witnessed. and then he saves you and he is so much more beautiful than brushstrokes could ever hope to capture. you are born and raised in qingqiu, after all, so you must return his kindness. you sneak into his palace and he takes your breath away. nine-tailed foxes only love once. you don’t make yourself visible in front of him, afraid of just how loud your heart will beat if you place it in his hands. you become his biggest trial. you’re coughing up blood but his mouth tastes sweet against yours and you cannot help but love him and love him and love him. it’s all you know how to do. you can’t stop. you jump off the cliff. he reaches for you and you look away. and there is so much he doesn’t understand, and so much you don’t either. you can’t stay away from him. it’s his turn to chase you and you make wishes, and you make foolish requests, and you think, wildly, that maybe this isn’t a dream. maybe you can have a happy ending. you want him to be the spine to your storybook, to be your end and your beginning. you will wrangle fate with your fists and your blade and cut it through until your red strings are knotted together. his flesh and blood sits on your finger. your flesh and blood sits on his lap, with silver hair that mirrors his and a sunny smile that mirrors yours.
it’s been a long journey getting here, but your forever will be far longer.
eternal love of dream really said even my shadow would recognize yours and fall in love with it. losing you was never ending winter. take my heart and wear it on your finger. who cares about fate when we are holding hands at the end of all things.

Spooktober Day 16 - “Forget about me, just save them!”
I hurt my own feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The air was thick with dust as you ran alongside Dipper, Mabel, Stan, and Ford. Your heart pounded in your chest. The ground trembled beneath your feet, the ancient tomb of some forgotten entity threatening to collapse around you. Every step felt like it could be your last. Your every breath was strained and shallow as you ran for your life. The walls shook as the beast you had accidentally unleashed bellowed in the distance, closing in.
“This way!” Dipper shouted, pointing to a narrow hallway that led to the exit.
You stumbled with a shout, eyes catching Ford’s as caught you. His face was tight with determination, scanning the room for any sign of escape, any clue that could give you more time.
“We’re not going to make it!” Mabel screamed, clutching Waddles close to her chest as Stan grabbed her hand, pulling her forward. You saw Stan’s knuckles whiten with the grip.
Ford glanced over his shoulder at the incoming shadow of the creature. He made a sudden stop, turning to face Stan and the kids. “Go! Get them out of here!” He yelled.
“What? No! We’re not doing this! Come on, Ford!” Stan’s face paled as he realized what Ford was implying.
“There’s no time!” Ford’s voice cracked. His eyes flickered to you.
Something inside you snapped. “No!” You cried, your own feet stilling. Despite Ford pushing you forward, you didn’t budge, “I’m not leaving you!”
He shook his head, stepping back as the hallway you were in began to crumble even faster. The ceiling groaned and dust rained down. “Forget about me! Just save them!” Ford’s voice was raw, but he didn’t move. His eyes were locked on you, a mix of desperation and love etched across his features.
You felt like your legs would give out beneath you, the world blurring as the thought of leaving him tore through you. “I’m not leaving you!” You begged, tears welling in your eyes, “Stop being the hero! Please, come with us! We’ll find another way, just please-“
He shook his head, a sad smile breaking through his resolve. “I can’t. This is the only way. I need to hold it off or none of you will make it.”
Stan took a step forward, his face set in an expression you’d never seen before. Fear, pure and unfiltered. “Ford, damn it, don’t you do this!” His voice was shaky. “We’ve lost too much already!”
Ford’s gaze softened, pained affection behind it. “Stan, you have to take care of them. Of all of them! This isn’t up for debate.”
You felt Stan’s hand on your shoulder, gently pulling you away. “Come on, kid. We gotta move.”
“No!” You tried to break free, but Stan’s grip was firm as he threw you over his shoulder.
Ford turned his back to you, facing the looming shadow. “Go!” he shouted one last time. The echo of his voice was nearly swallowed by the cacophony of destruction around you.
With one last, agonizing look, Stan carried you along. You stumbled forward, the heartache ripping through you, your eyes still fixed on Ford until the collapsing ceiling and debris blocked your view. Tears burned down your cheeks as his final plea echoed in your mind.
The four of you burst through the tomb’s entrance just as it collapsed behind you, a cloud of dust and rubble rising into the night sky. Ford was gone. Even though you had made it out alive, it didn’t feel like a victory. Your heart was still back there, buried beneath the debris with the man you loved.

Hii, may I request Cypher x reader angst?
Ask and you shall receive. This hurt my soul to write 🥲
Nightmare (Cypher x F!Reader)
Summary: Cypher is haunted by his past one sleepless night.
Pairing: Cypher x F!Reader
Rating: General
Word Count: 633
Warnings: none
Notes: Cypher, my poor, sweet, tortured love
Cypher was running.
He didn’t know why, but he was running, and someone—or something—was chasing him. His heart raced, his throat burning and lungs contracting painfully as he took in great gulps of air. It was hard to see. It was hard to breathe.
He charged down the street—a street he recognized. He passed familiar buildings as he ran; buildings he’d visited, grown up by, seen a thousand times. He was home. He was back in Rabat.
He wanted to stop, wanted to see his friends, his family, his old neighbors, but he couldn’t. Something told him he had to keep going.
He had to. He had to keep going.
“Amir.”
Cypher’s heart stirred. He knew that voice.
That’s right. I’m Amir. My name is Amir.
He ran faster, scouring the streets, and realizing with a start that they were all empty. Where was everyone? Where were the laughing children, the mothers and fathers who watched them with smiles on their faces? Where were the market vendors, the shopkeepers?
Where was—
“Amir!”
It was that voice again, more frightened this time. It was her. She was in danger.
“Nora!” he cried out, his throat cracked and dry. He could see someone now at the end of an alley, in the middle of the desolate market square. A beautiful woman in a hijab, standing alone.
She turned towards him, fear in her eyes. “Amir,” she said weakly. “They’re coming.”
“Who?” he asked desperately. He should have reached her by now, but despite his efforts, he couldn’t seem to get any closer. “What do you mean?”
All at once, the woman began to change. Nora’s features shifted, morphing into someone else’s. Someone he knew just as well.
His heart sank. You. It was you.
You looked past him, as if you saw something behind him, and your eyes grew in terror. “Amir,” you pleaded. Your voice was different—a mix of yours and Nora’s. “Help me. Please.”
“I-I’m coming!” he promised, fighting to get to you. You were still so far away, so horribly, horribly far away. Why couldn’t he reach you? He outstretched his hand. “Wait for me!”
Suddenly, the world began to crumble all around him. The stones beneath his feet cracked, the buildings that lined the streets shuddering before collapsing into nothingness. You wrapped your arms around yourself, shrinking back as shadows emerged from the growing darkness, inching closer to you.
“No!” he shouted, lunging for you. “Hold on! I’m coming!”
No, don’t leave me, don’t leave me!
“Amir!” you screamed, just before the shadows overcame you, swallowing you whole.
Cypher jolted awake.
He sat up straight in his bed, chest heaving, hair sticking to his forehead. His heart was pounding, all his senses ablaze as if he were still running through those empty streets. Running from something. Running for something.
Nora. No—
You.
He threw his covers aside and got up, rushing to his monitors. His eyes were heavy from sleep, but he forced them to open wid, dragging them over every screen until he found you.
You were asleep in your bed, hugging your teddy bear, and dreaming soundly, from the looks of it. Your eyelashes fluttered slightly, and you shifted under your blanket, turning over onto your other side, away from the camera.
Cypher let out a ragged breath, relieved to find you safe and sound. He knew it was a nightmare. Nothing had happened to you, and none of it had been real, literally speaking, but the torment inside of him was. What had happened to him—what had happened to his wife and his city—had been more real than any nightmare.
Nora was gone, and so was Rabat.
He hung his head, burying his face in his hands, and silently began to weep.
At least you were still here.

Thanks so much for my first request!

NIGHTMARE
The air was heavy with thick hot smoke as screams of agonizing terror pierced the night. Bright flames devoured building after building, mercilessly destroying and killing everything in its way. Man, animals, objects. Everything crumbled to ash.
Magnifico stood on his balcony, eyes wide in horror and limbs frozen in panic. “No …” he uttered breathlessly, “No …”
His entire kingdom had turned into an inferno. In an instant he turned, stumbled through his room and down the corridors.
“Myrah!” He hollered, “Myrah, where are you?”  A window to his left suddenly exploded and he gasped. More flames leaped onto rugs and furniture and spread down the hallways within seconds. “Myrah!” He cried once more, frantically searching for his wife. “M’fhíorghrá, answer me!”
Dashing from door to door, Magnifico dodged the growing fire and falling debris. But no matter how much he cried for his wife, he got no reply.
Fear and shattering guilt overcame him like an avalanche and he had to hold onto a wall. Right at that moment, one of the curtains crashed in front of him, cutting off his way. Magnifico flinched backward, coughing and shielding his eyes from the spitting flames.
It happened again. How did it happen again?
In the blink of an eye, he was suddenly right outside his palace. People ran in all directions, wailing, yowling, burning. He recognized their faces, knew their names, remembered their former wishes.
Before he could call out to them however, one of the stone pillars near him cracked, seconds from collapsing. He noticed a child standing below the crumbling roof, calling for its mother, and without hesitation threw himself at it, shoving it out of the way just in time. The pillar fell, the mother sweeped the child into her arms and Magnifico rolled to the side, hardly escaping being crushed. Dust and hot ash filled his nose and mouth and he coughed. The glowing heat made it almost impossible to breathe.
“Magnifico!”
Lightning shot through his nerve system at the sound of his soulmate's voice. She was there! She was alive! Within seconds, he scrambled to his feet and hurled around. His heart leapt in his chest for a second before being ripped into shreds. Myrah tumbled toward him, almost burned to the bones. Crying out like a beaten animal, he dove forward to catch her before she could fall and sank to his knees with her.
“No! No no no! My love ... my life! Hold on I’ll-” Magnifico desperately tried to recall his supernatural abilities to heal the wounds he knew were her sure death, but the blue light refused to surface. “Come on!” He growled at his shaking hands, “come on!”
“Ma-”
His head turned back to her, “Hold on, my love! I’ll fix this! I’ll save y-”
“Magn-” Myrah coughed, compulsing in pain and trying to move her lips to talk to her husband, but before his name could fully come over her lips, her strength left her, her eyes closed and her body went limp.
“Myrah?” Magnifico breathed, “Myrah? Sweetheart?”
No response.
"No. Oh God, no! Myrah!” He gently shook his wife, utter panic flooding his being, “Please! You cannot - I cannot lose you too! Please!" Again he shook her, stroked her face and hair over and over and wiped ash, dirt and blood away from her cheeks, but her eyes stayed closed. The limpness of his wife cut his soul like a hot sword. His mind refused to believe it. Once more he shook her but to no avail. “No, my love! No! Wake up! Open your eyes, darling! Myrah!”
Nothing.
“No ....”
The queen, his wife, his soulmate was dead but he couldn’t accept it. How could he accept it?
Her broken body tightly in his hold, he bent over with a choked sob. Tears came like a flood as his entire being was consumed by indescribable agony and he let out the loudest, most heart-broken wail a man could ever sound.
~
Myrah woke in an instant as she felt her husband cramp and twist in their sheets, flailing his limbs between breathless whimpering. Immediately she rose and reached out to hold his arms down.
“Magnifico!” She called, “wake up, mi vida! ”
His head tossed left and right and Myrah almost had to climb onto her husband to pin him down.
“Shhht! Wake up! Wake up!”
Suddenly he shot upright with a scream, his blue eyes wide as plates, his chest rising and falling in quick heavy breaths.
Myrah sighed in relief. Now that he was awake, it was easier to get him out of his panic attack.
“All is well, mi amor. It was just a nightmare.”
Still disorientated and caught in the terror of the things his mind had played on him, he hyperventilated, sweat dripping from his forehead. The pain of losing his wife and the guilt of failing to keep the past from repeating was ever so present. He could still hear the screams, smell the horrible stench of burning flesh mixed with blood, dirt and fire. But even worse than the sight of the burned corpses, was his dead wife in his arms. The emotions overwhelmed him, nausea rose in his throat and he gagged.
“Magnifico! Look at me!” Myrah gently touched his face, “Look at me, my darling!”
Her husband flinched for a second but then slowly turned his head and she smiled. “There you go! Keep looking at me! Breathe with me! Deep breaths!”
Magnifico followed her breathing until his own had calmed and his pulse slowed down.
“Well done, mi vida." She wiped his loose bangs and the sweat from his forehead and kissed his trembling lips. “I’m here. It was a nightmare.”
“M- …. Myrah.” He choked through his rising tears. “Rosas ... burned … people … my people burned … You were … I- I lost you! I couldn't-”
“Shhht!" Lovingly she caressed both his cheeks, continuing to wipe his tears and sweat. “It was another nightmare. I'm safe. Rosas is safe! All is well, mi vida.”
He mustered her for a while, assuring himself he was truly awake. “Myrah?”
“Yes, mi vida. I’m here.” She kissed him again, once more swiping his bangs away.
She was real. She was there. It truly had only been another one of his raging nightmares. Utter relief flooded him and he sobbed. His head fell into the nape of his wife’s neck and she wrapped him in her arms.
“Shhht! I know. I know.” She whispered, stroking his back as he cried.
“Oh, Myrah!” He whimpered hoarsely, “I’m … so … tired!”
Myrah felt her own throat tighten and her heart ache.
“I got everything I could have ever dreamt of and more. Everything is perfect and yet … the past just won’t let me rest! I … I can’t bear this anymore!”
His entire body trembled in her embrace. Her strong husband, who usually always carried himself proudly, now wept against her shoulder like a child. Right in this moment, he was no longer king but the boy once broken so many years ago.
“Oh my darling, my life!” She breathed as she carefully lifted his face to rest her own close to his and combed through his dark silver hair.
Tumblr media
“I know this is incredibly hard, it hurts terribly, and you just wish to forget, but it will get better. I promise you! And I'm here to help you in this pain. Each step of the way I will go with you, mi amor. Until the pain has faded into a scar and the memory of the past into yet a mere shadow. I’m here for you and I will be for eternity!”
The next time Magnifico woke up was early in the morning. As soon as his eyes opened, he turned his head to the side to check for his wife. And there she was. Deeply asleep. Her weight on his chest immediately filled him with relief and his pulse calmed once more. Gently, he stroked one of her auburn locks from her forehead and kissed it. Taking in her beauty for a few more seconds. God, he loved and adored her beyond comprehension.
He must have fallen asleep in her arms after his melt down and over the course of the last hours their position had shifted.
Carefully, he removed himself from the embrace, made sure she lay comfortable and then left their bed as quietly as possible. Throwing his thin morning robe around his shoulders, he passed the edge on which Julius was rolled up, sleeping as well, and fondled his head before striding out on the balcony.
The sky was already turning indigo and the horizon, at the edge of the ocean, pale yellow.
Tumblr media
Magnifico closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He still felt awfully tired. Exhausted. As if he'd not slept at all.
The sweet singing of birds painted a stark contrast to the roaring sounds of terror that still gnawed at the edge of his consciousness.
Why couldn't he just forget it? Why did his past still haunt him like a never tiring predator?
Before he knew it, his eyes started burning again but this time, he refused to cry. Instead, he stubbornly forced himself to concentrate on the sunrise.
A light breeze hit his face and made his loose bangs sway back. He closed his eyes once more, breathing in the salty air and savoring the scent of oleander and roses it carried along.
Sometimes he still couldn’t believe that he didn’t need to endure his regular mental episodes alone anymore. Now there was Myrah, who caught him whenever he fell.
But as grateful as he was that she helped him through his pain, he rather had the whole trauma be done with once and for all.
Slowly the sun started climbing over the edge of the ocean, throwing its first rays across the land. Magnifico blinked into the golden light, sounding yet another tired sigh.
Suddenly there was a soft rustle behind him. Two gentle arms wrapped themselves around his waist from behind and he smiled. Her touch felt like taking a deep breath after a long dive.
“You’re up already?”
“I wanted to watch the sunset.” Not a lie, more a forced truth.
The hold around him loosened and his wife stepped next to him. There was no fooling her and he didn’t mean to.
“When did it stop for you?” He asked quietly.
“The nightmares?”
His lips slimmed.
“A few years.”
“I’ve got these for over two decades now … I’ve let the past go and it shouldn’t affect me as much anymore but-”
“Magnifico,” Myrah took his hands into hers, “you are way too hard on yourself! Be a little bit more patient. There is no right or wrong as to how long the process of healing has to be.”
“How much longer - I … I’m terrified to lose you too one day …this fear …it wrecks me!” he uttered brokenly. “I’ve lost everything I ever loved once before … I cannot bear it a second time …”
Myrah lifted her gaze. Her own eyes burned with tears now. She hated seeing her soulmate in so much distress. “I’m afraid as well.” She admitted, “after you’ve destroyed the book and sacrificed yourself to save Rosas … I thought I had to die as well. To have to live the rest of my life without you until I could see you again on the other side? … That was hell on earth. But-” she reached out to touch his cheek, “the great father let you return to me. And nothing can ever separate us again!”
“How do I deserve you?” He smiled lovesick, chuckling along as she did.
“Only you deserve me! Mi vida.”
Leaning forward, he kissed her and her hands dove past his face into his hair.
“I love you!” He breathed into the kiss, “I love you so much-”
Her hands wandered from his hair down to his neck and back and then to his chest.
“I love you!” She replied, once again locking eyes with him. “I cannot erase your past, but I can help ease the pain.”
He almost shuddered at the touch of her fingertips spreading on his chest.
“I can help you forget those nightmares for a bit …”
Oh God!
Her lips traveled across his skin like bolts of electricity all the way back to his neck and jaw before she gently pulled him closer to her body.
His mind started swimming. In the best way possible. Whatever she did, it always worked. Always cracked him open and lightened up his soul. She was his beacon, his lighthouse in the darkest night.
And he held onto her as well. Like a drowning man onto a rope. Kissing her passionately between gasps for air. If she hadn't guided him back into their bedroom, he would have helplessly stumbled against the next pillar or wall, maybe even face planted the floor.
She smiled against his lips and Magnifico wondered for the billionth time how it was possible for his stomach to tingle that strongly.
Yes, right. She was his soulmate, this was everyday life and yet it was new to him every time.
He let her guide him all the way to their bed, he’d forgotten how to walk anyway. With the most gentle pressure, she pressed him down on his shoulders to sit and before he knew it, she was on his lap. Together they shifted backward further onto the bed.
Julius used the momentum to head to the door. Smirking to himself as he left the royal bedroom. He would take a long stroll through the gardens.
Oh, Lord! Am I still dreaming? Am I truly awake?  “Myrah …”
More and more of her tender kisses showered Magnifico and he prayed she wouldn’t stop. Each place her soft lips touched tingled, almost burned. Once more they found his and he closed his eyes, tightening his hold around her back and waist.
Could one get drunk on love? One part of him wanted to reply with as much intensity to everything she did but this time he just couldn’t fight against her and he didn’t want to. There were times where they both equalized each other while melting their endless love and their souls together, there were times where he gave more to her and this time it was her, who gave more.
He had to do nothing but let her flood him with all the love her soul could offer. Let her give herself to him fully. This kind of giving was the highest peak of joy. An honor, a pleasure like nothing else on earth.
She was bone of his bone and one flesh with him. Only her soul made to link with his like no other. A unity for eternity. Ever growing in love and wisdom.
“Myrah!” Her name was the only thing left leaving his lips in gasps, breathless hisses and whimpers of purest pleasure. One gaze into the sun-flooded forest of her eyes, that intense look grazing every part of his soul, was almost enough to send him over the edge.
Her love indeed silenced every sound in his mind, calmed the raging storm in him and pushed the hellish memories away. He thanked the great father exceedingly as his world was filled with Myrah. Tenderly and deeply passionately.

“ I.. love you.. Dummy “ Scaramouche/ Wanderer x G!NReader
PART 1: OVERTHINKING
PART 2: HIS POINT OF VIEW
PART 3: HELPLESS
PART 4: THE AFTER-EFFECT
PART 5: I.. LOVE YOU… DUMMY
Tumblr media
Scaramouche POV:
Running through the busy street of japan. i let out exaggerating huffs as i continue my way down to Y/N’s House. my vision blurs as i tripped on my own shoelace. grunting in annoyance, i stood up once more to continue running. ignoring the excruciating pain that i am feeling, down on my knees i moved forward. my heart aches as i feel hot tears running down my face. annoyed at my emotions spiraling out of control i angrily screamed.
“ GOD DAMN IT! “
Oh, Y/N you’ve molded me into a person i’ve never believed i can become.
You’ve made me feel like human again..
And it frustrates me to the point i’ve become obsessed with you.
Upon reaching their Home, i squatted down on their front porch, being out of breath and feeling tired i suddenly collapsed fully on the floor.
I grabbed my phone that only has 38% battery life.. i shakily called their number.
One ring…
Two rings…
Three rings..
Then, you’ve finally picked up.
‘ Hello? ‘
Just hearing you say one word made me crumble down on my knees, feeling the butterflies, that i’ve felt before.
“ Hey… Y/N… “
I sat down on the steps, while calming my heart down..
‘ Scara? why’re you calling me..? ‘
I sighed as an irk mark appeared on my forehead before stopping myself to say something sarcastic.
“ I’m.. here. “
I breathlessly said as I stood up straight. before i walking out in the open, near the street.
‘ wha- what do you mean? ‘ You sat up on your bed careful not to wake lumine up.
“ I’m.. right outside your house.. you dummy.”
..
.
Your POV:
Wait.. what? is he messing with me? I scanned my bedroom before carefully checking to see if lumine is awake, once i found out she isn’t, i slowly get off my bed before taking a cardigan from the floor.
as i take my phone that i laid on the bed, i found a bell. a bell that has my initial and.. maybe scara’s. taking the small bell from the bedside table, i hurriedly went out of my room.
..
.
Lumine’s POV:
ah.. so she has found it.. i sighed as i snuggled close Y/N’s comforters. eyebrows furrowing.. i calmed myself down..
In the end.. i will never get chosen.. this is fine.. as long as those two are okay..
I turned over to look up on the ceiling, with a heavy heart.. my eyes started swelling up in tears. i choke back a sob as i cried to myself.
When will it ever be me..?
I gasped loudly as i felt my phone vibrate in my pockets, digging through my pockets to fish my phone out, i answered the call without looking at the name of the caller.
3rd POV:
Childe slid down on the park bench, he can only hope that his dear friend can.. take care of the misunderstanding that he and Dottore caused. Childe stares at his calloused rough hands he bit his cheek.
He feels stupid.. for doing something like that, he wholeheartedly regrets what he did.
He whipped out his phone to call scaramouche only to hesitate for a minute.
Should i call him? Childe thought as he bit his lip, he rubbed his hands together to create a source of heat for awhile.
Childe threw his hands up in the air, frustrated. eyes glowing dimmer as he looked up on the dark sky. it’s already dark.. childe thought as he shivered. he stood up and wrapped his red scarf around his neck to look more presentable.
Glancing at his phone contacts.. he found Lumine’s contact number.. a small smile and a slight pinkish hue on his cheeks appeared as he called the girl’s number.
One..
Two..
Three..
She have finally picked up the call!
“ Hey girlie.. can i drop by your place for awhile? “
Lumine scoffs as she rolled around Y/N’s bed. before answering.
‘ Sure I guess.. but make sure to bring some food. Paimon won’t let you in if you don’t have any food for her. ‘
Hearing that, Childe let out a sweet and genuine laugh.
Puzzling Lumine, Lumine listened to his laugh as heat rushes through her face.
It’s cute.. his laugh is cute… wait what? Lumine panics as she fumbled around, how could she have such thoughts to her arch-nemesis!
grumbling, Lumine once again scoffs as she ends the call.
Childe being puzzled as to why the called ended, he regains his composure before smiling widely. oh how he’ll buy Tons of 5-star food take-out just to impress Lumine’s younger sister.. to catch Lumine’s heart.
feeling all giddy he skipped towards a nearby restaurant to order tons of delicious delicacies.
One step.. two steps.. Overthinking.. His point of view.. feeling helpless.. and catching the after-effect.
As You stride towards the front door, with a look of worry plastered on your face.
Overthinking of what’s happening…
Thinking of his Point of View..
Feeling helpless as my thoughts consumes me..
Oh how i anticipate the after-effect.
Opening the door.. you took one step.. and two steps forward. Inhaling and exhaling. fidgeting with your hands, eyes darting everywhere. seemingly clouded by your thoughts.. scaramouche took three steps forward.. Arms opening up to take you in an embrace.
Your eyes widens as you stare at him. he wasn’t supposed to be here.. he wasn’t supposed.. to be here infront of me..
You thought to yourself, as you took a fews steps backwards. sensing your awkwardness, scaramouche lowers his hand down onto his sides before bowing respectfully.
“ Y/N.. that.. reply you’ve got.. it’s a misunderstanding.. “
You stood there completely silent, as you forgot how to speak, as if you’ve become a new born child.
“ It’s not what you think it is, believe me.. i don’t know how to fully explain it to you… “
Scaramouche kept himself on a 90 degree bow, waiting for you to say anything.
still feeling shocked you’ve managed to let out a few words..
‘ I love you.. ‘ You said before covering your mouth up with your hand. eyes widening and cheeks reddening.
Uttering out those three words, scaramouche stood up straight before embracing you in a tight hug.
‘ I’ve never thought of you as a nuisance.. ‘
‘ I’ve never seen you nothing but someone who’m i greatly cherish.. someone who i see a future with.. ‘
‘ I’ve never wished to make you cry. ‘
‘ I’ve never wished to hurt your feelings. ‘
Those assurances gave you hope, it gave you a new light. it’s a hope in the dark.
Scaramouche held the back of your head, loving and gently, as he stroked your back.
it’s amazing.. to see him act and be so humane. it amazed you to see him be like this..
You didn’t know that you were crying, you didn’t feel your tears streaming down your face. you didn’t feel how your chest tightened by hearing those words that scaramouche stated. you didn’t feel how your arms gripped wrap around scara’s frame.. you were too mesmerized at the sight of him being so humane, being so gentle..
..
.
“ I.. never wanted to stay as friends.. i’ve always dreamt of being by your side.. “
“ I’ve never thought of your flaws as some weakness, rather i thought that they gave you strength.. “
“ Scara.. no.. Kuni.. I’ve always told you that i’ll wait for you till i’m yours.. but earlier today.. it made me want to abandon that promise to protect my feelings.. “
“ I just.. love you so much to the point i cannot express it more with just my actions.. “
Scaramouche parts away from your embrace as he stares deep on your eyes, flustering you up, making you blush madly.
Seeing his gentle and serene face, made your heart swoon. it made you want to confess everything right then and there. it made you love him more.
Scaramouche opened his mouth.. and said..
I.. Love you.. dummy..
Before smiling warmly at you.
“ Ever since you’ve sent me that one meme.. that you’re supposed to send to your friend. i’ve fallen for you right then and there. “ scara ruffles your hair as the wind blows through the clouds. the night sky making it a perfect scenery, and his handsome smile that can make thousands, swoon.
Turns out.. all of these is nothing but a misunderstanding.
misunderstanding the concept for all of the problems.. and overthinking.
the bane of evil, the uprising of despair.
but a single misunderstanding made something blossom into something more interesting.. more beautiful.. that i couldn’t help but shed a few tears while writing.

Saul silva x reader - this empty space
Tumblr media
Part 10:
You looked at the ghostly figure standing with his hands behind his back, and you didn’t the same thing.
“You’re weak.” He mused.
You drew your dagger.
“I can.. still fight..”
He hummed, walking around you as he studied you, and you did the same thing, both of you walked in circles around one another.
“I’ll be the judge of that.” He snarled.
He thrust his hand out, and you barely managed to dodge the shadows as the slammed into the wall, cracking it, and you did the same thing.
Attack after attack you both dodge, landing hits in the building instead, cracking its walls, dust and debris falling from the ceiling.
You jumped over one of the other tombs, holding the dagger in your mouth, you threw both your hands forward, shadow tendrils slamming into it and sending it flying at the king.
It knocked him down and you ran forward, bringing the dagger down, you barely hit him, only managing to land a small cut on his arm.
He punched you in the face, picking you up, he threw you through the window, and you rolled through the glass, letting out a cry of pain.
Picking up the dagger, you put it away so you wouldn’t loose it.
He stalked forward, and you sat against the barrier, watching him get closer and when he did, you flooded the place with a mist and slowly stood up, creeping closer, you covered your arm in shadows.
Swinging it around, you punched him, sending him flying backwards and you took a deep breath, pooling all the surrounding magic into yourself.
You slowly walked to where the king and crashed, stopping as the building rumbled, threatening to fall, and you poked it, surging it with mist to make it collapse.
Dust rose all round, and you stepped over some of the wall, waking along it as you looked around and you were punched in the side, making you scream in pain again.
You dropped to your knees, and you were slammed back, dazed and confused.
“You didn’t stand a chance..” he whispered.
He walked closer, kneeling in front of you and you reached out, touching his shoulder.
You drained all his magic, and his shadows fell from their placing holding you, and you yelled as your veins burned, and you surged it all back into him and more.
Pulling the dagger out with your other hand, you stabbed his chest and watched as he fell.
“You.. you won’t win…” he whispered.
You said nothing, just pushed yourself up, stumbling as you waited for him to crumble before picking the dagger up again, putting it away.
You released the barrier, the sun was well out now, but Saul still hadn’t woken up.
The fire had died down, and you slowly shuffled closer until you could see him and you breathed shakily, blood trickling through your fingers, as you looked down at him.
“S..saul..” you whispered.
You leant down, grabbing the bag and his jacket, you put them on his chest and grabbed his wrists, pulling him while you held back cries of pain.
Everything was covered in shadows and finally you were in front of the castle and Saul groaned, slowly sitting up, the items falling on the floor.
You dropped his wrists and fell to your knees, and his eyes locked with yours.
You saw his mouth open but you didn’t hear the words.
Your vision faded, and you fell forward with a large thud, body hitting the gravel as you fell victim to your pain and exhaustion.
Saul quickly pulled the bag on, and he gathered you into his arms and rushed you upstairs to your bed and he laid you down.
He looked you over and he emptied everything on the bed, shaking hands as he fumbled for what he needed.
He carefully took your jacket off, and he removed the armour and pulled your shirt up.
He stared at the wound, oozing blood and mist, surrounded by angry black veins.
He shook his head, choosing not to focus on that and got to work cleaning and stitching your side before moving on to your leg, then your upper arm.
He placed a plaster on your cheek, and checked you over, making sure there was no other injuries and he sat down next to you taking your gloves hand in his.
He looked at it and peeled the glove away, and looked at your hand, your palm resting in his as he traced the veins with his other hand.
Slowly, he rolled your sleeve up, following them up your arm.
Setting it down, he did the same with your other arm and he looked at you.
“What’s happening to you..?” He whispered.
He pushed everything if the bed, deciding to clean it up later, and he carefully crawled over you to lay on his side, arm under his head and his hand holding yours as he looked at you.
His vision was fuzzy, but he blinked the tears away as he took a shallow breath. He couldn’t cry, not now, he couldn’t let his emotions take over.
He needed to watch you, make sure you were okay and you woke up.
He changed your bandages every few hours, placed a cold cloth to your head, make sure you were warm enough.
Saul did everything he could to look after you, to make sure you were okay and a few days slipped by and you were still to wake up.
And he was exhausted, he hadn’t slept in days, he couldn’t, but his exhaustion was catching up to him, and as he laid next to you on the bed, his arm around you, head resting just above yours, it took over.
He fell asleep with you in his embrace, scared that if he let you go something was going to happen to you again

Blueberry Muffins - Chapter Two
Alone Together
Word Count: 2970
Skeppy wasn't going to watch all the streams right now, but he did want to be looped in on all the memes that were on Twitter. The two were on their stomachs horizontally on the bed watching a highlights video a fan had made on Skeppy's phone. Bad could hardly stop giggling at the side glances Skeppy was throwing him throughout.
"What boy did you kiss!", Skeppy demanded playfully.
"What boy did YOU kiss?", Bad challenges back. Skeppy's jaw dropped.
"What!".
"In that video you did with Tommy playing BedWars! He asked if you ever kissed a boy and you said 'perhaps'!", Bad raising his voice several octaves as he mimicked Skeppy, sitting up crosslegged now, way too smug. Skeppy scoffed, sitting up to match him.
"I'll tell if you tell.", he decided on.
"Okay, then you go first!".
"No you!".
Their arguing reflected perfectly into real life it seems. Though, things were a lot touchier than both anticipated. They were both just so excited to be close. It seemed spending the night together wrapped up in each others arms broke the ice. No walls could be found between them.
Their yelling escalated slightly as Skeppy decided to throw in some curses to get on Bad's nerves and it quickly evolved into a tickle fight.
"Fuck off!".
"Hey! Language!", Bad hollered, shaky on top of Skeppy as he fought off his hands. Both were nearly collapsing from the giggling, grabbing at each others sides. Skeppy rolled on top.
Without Quackity there they were evenly matched. Skeppy grabbed Bad's sides and shook him by them, bouncing him against the bed as he squeezed. Bad threw his head back and cackled hilariously, his hands flopping uselessly at how weak the move made him feel.
"Yaaa!", Skeppy yelled in victory, only to be grabbed and rolled back under Bad.
"You muffinhead!", Bad said breathlessly, targeting Skeppy's ribs suddenly with quick jabs and squeezes.
     Oh this changed the game.
"Pffft!", Skeppy struggled for a moment before screeching with laughter. He kicked wildly at the bed and focused his hands on defense only. Loud desperate laughter tore out of his throat against his will. Suddenly, he was completely unable to beg or insult. Any attempt left him squeaking between his laughs. Bad stared down at him in wonder and shock.
'Adorable.', his mind whispered to him. He let the tickle torture go on a little too long as he got caught up watching his best friend crumble to pieces at his touch. A full minute and then some went by as Bad just broke Skeppy down. He screamed and twisted under him. Getting to see Skeppy blush and laugh like this in person has been life changing. 'Oh. Huh?', he questioned his own thoughts. He stopped tickling suddenly in realization; he had spaced out and wasn’t sure how long he had been going for.
Skeppy gasped out greedily for air, throwing both his arms over his red tear-stained face, whining a little in embarrassment. It took him a bit to be able to form coherent words again.
"That was brutal.", Skeppy giggled weakly, peeking up at him.
"I know I'm sorry! This spot is real bad huh?", Bad forced himself to speak normally. He laid his fingers against Skeppy's rib cage, smiling at the dramatic flinch.
"Yeah I don't know, it just kills so bad there. Do you have a spot like that?", Skeppy grinned cheekily, clearly playing too dramatically at the "innocence" of the question. Bad laughed and rolled his eyes.
"I almost want to tell you for tickling you so badly you cried!".
"Shut up, no I didn't!", Skeppy whined. Though, the little streaks of tears were clearly visible on both his cheeks still. Bad wondered if maybe he was wearing makeup. He smiled softly down at his friend. His poor flustered friend.
"I'm sorry.", Bad hung his head in shame. Skeppy grinned evilly. Years of practice allowing him to weasel the exact reaction out of him he wanted.
Skeppy flipped their positions so he was on top once again. He cracked his knuckles and stretched his arms out, hamming it up for the audience beneath him.
"You're a muffinhead.", Bad informed him.
"Where is it?", Skeppy grinned. Bad groaned.
Neither of them could tell if the other was realizing just how little they have spent outside of this hotel room, and neither would be the first to point it out. All those plans to film content and have fun together in the real world were dwarfed easily by just the excitement of being together alone and in person. At no point since they left Quackity at the airport that morning had the conversation and giggling stopped. At times they were lightheaded from the fun. How is this real? Even now as they had been literaly torturing screams out of each other did either want to make the move to point out their time was limited and they should probably get up and go.
Skeppy had more pressing questions on his mind to be answered.
Bad's most ticklish spot? His thighs.
Does it produce that same hiccup-y screeching laugh he can usually drag out of him while chasing him down in Minecraft? Yes, but much louder.
Does Bad blush? A little.
'Not nearly as bad as I do.', Skeppy thought, annoyed slightly. But, it was a little hard to be annoyed while staring down at Bad's, slightly-blushing, face of anguish.
Skeppy was perched on top of him and leaning in a little as he watched fondly, his hand latched meanly onto what he had worked out to be the worst of the worst spot; directly above Bad's knee. Bad was absolutely beside himself.
Bad's mind swirled. He screeched as he flopped his hands weakly against Skeppy. He had been tickled before and he thinks he might even have been tickled nearly this intensely. But, Skeppy had a knack for knowing how to get under Bad's skin and it translated into their tickle fights clearly. Skeppy flinched as Bad screamed sharply, watching him fall back down into hysterics. Skeppy had switched to his other leg and seemed to know exactly how to move his evil fingers to break Bad apart.
Bad knew he would give it all up under this torture. Every secret. Every feeling. Every language-word Skeppy wanted to hear. His credit card number like on stream that one time.
He cried out dramatically as Skeppy stopped, gasping out for air as he curled into himself. Skeppy cackled at the noise.
"You're so ticklish!!!", he giggled in glee. One to talk, really.
~•~
The fans were seriously freaking out. The two were back on their stomachs side by side reading tweets on Skeppy's phone.
"Wait til they find out we slept together last night.", Skeppy smirked. Bad burst out laughing, turning and shoving his face into Skeppy's shoulder.
"Language!", Bad was muffled, Skeppy shook with giggles.
Skeppy was intrigued with how much harder Bad had to fight to not laugh at his dirty jokes. No mic to mute or lack of facecam to hide his unwanted amusement.
They really had slept together though. And they hadn't spoken about it. Skeppy's comment was the first mention of it in the light of day and the two let it wash over them. It seemed pretty them to be fair. A6d had slept with Skeppy. Well. Not like that. Not like, cuddling.
Skeppy pressed his lips together and willed the blush creeping across his cheeks to disappear before Bad could see.
Bad could see, though.
It made him wonder. Bad found his mind going over the facts he had about his best friend. While he did know a little more than the Internet, he didn't know everything. Skeppy had never come out to Bad as anything. Not straight. Not gay. Not pansexual, like himself. Skeppy was unlabeled for the entire world and also his best friend. Bad chastised himself internally for the rude thought.
It's just. Man he really wanted to know. He doesn't exactly know why. Maybe because he just wanted to know everything. No secrets between best friends. He wanted to know the meaning behind it all. His thoughts. Bad's innocence clouded his ability to progress that line of thinking any further and he re-focused on Twitter.
Skeppy was a little lost in thought, too. Since the second they woke up he had gone back again and again to what it was like waking up in Bad's arms. Now laying so close to the other, his mind decided to remind him of what he’d awoken that morning; the intoxicatingly sweet smell of his best friend and these strange feelings he couldn’t quite find the courage to give names to. Their limbs were tangled together and his face was nuzzled up close in Bad’s neck, and he had never ever been more comfortable.
Both were completely unaware of the other's thoughts, only aware of the energy. A very fun energy. Actually, pretty close to the usual energy. The played up tension and joking about crushes. The dumb innuendos. The usual. It was just way more intense so up close. And they got to see real time the affect it had on each other.
~•~
"He's 23!", Bad announced to the webcam. "So he gets 23 birthday punches!", Bad raised his fist and Skeppy shoved him away, full to the brim with giggles.
"Shut up! You could never hurt me!", Skeppy beamed.
The muffins were finally getting around to making content. They seemed to have made a silent agreement to not address just how long they had been radio-silent. Chat and donations had been begging them for information. The truth was that they had spent nearly the whole day together in bed tickle fighting and looking at fanart. So...they were ignoring that.
••Quackity donated $200! -What have you guys been up to?-••
Oh, that one was gonna be harder to ignore.
All the air left Bad's lungs at once and he started coughing, way too dramatic of a reaction for both the boys comfort level. Nervous laughter racked Skeppy's chest and he slapped Bad's back softly.
"Thank you so much for the donation Quackity! That's crazy! We've really just been sitting around missing you! Please come back!", Skeppy laughed in relief as the chat switched from mostly concern to mostly memes. Bad calmed down, leaning in to read chat.
"It was so fun guys!", Bad laughed.
They started in on a dramatic retelling of how Quackity and Bad surprised Skeppy early. They didn't get very far into the story before Quackity was calling them on discord.
"Hellooooo!", Quackity trilled in his high pitched fake-British accent once they picked up.
"Hellooo!", Skeppy and Bad echoed amusedly, trying out their own versions of the voice.
Quackity's presence boosted the views massively. The three laughed and yelled over each other as they each tried to make each other look dumber in the story. Notably, all three left out the very end of the night.
"I’m going to start editing the video as soon as I g-get...back home.", Bad stuttered a little, a soft pain twisted in his chest at his own words. Skeppy gave his shoulder a soft squeeze, sensing and mirroring the feelings.
"NOOOO!!!! I don't want you guys to separate again!!!!", Quackity wailed loud and dramatically forcing lightness back into the air. The two shook out the sadness and grinned sheepishly. "Their soulmates your honor!!!", Quackity screamed way too loud and Skeppy and Bad cracked up.
"Alex shut up!!", Skeppy laughed, shoving Bad for good measure. The energy around them happy once again. “You are the only streamer in the world who gets closer to his mic when he screams, your fans must hate you!”, Skeppy hollered. The two leaned back into their chairs, in stitches now.
Thank god for Quackity.
~•~
The stream went on another hour. More questions and goofing off. To Skeppy’s horror they ended the stream with a loud and dragged out version of “Happy Birthday” for him. Chat cheered for the birthday boy and wished him happiness and love and muffins. It was sappy, really sappy. And definitely Skeppy’s most profitable stream to date. He almost teared up from all the love. The three said their thank-yous and good-byes to the chat and ended it. Quackity stayed on call with them for a bit longer.
“So what have you guys been doing actually? No audience this time! Maybe it was a little mean for me to ask before?”, both his smile and nervousness evident in his voice over the call. “Sorry.”, he added quickly. Skeppy and Bad smiled at each other.
“Don’t worry! Bad and I had really just spent the majority of the day watching stream highlights and going through Twitter.”, Skeppy spoke first, eyeing Bad.
“Yeah, nothing crazy.”, Bad added. The silence over the line was louder than most of the yelling from earlier. It made Skeppy tense, a little unfamiliar with the awkwardness.
“Uh huh.”, Quackity finally responded. “Well, okay! Anyway! I love you guys! You muffins…you muffinheads!”, he sang, having switched his voice modulator into autotune halfway through the sentence. “Have fun!”, he dragged out and let his voice fly up and down every single pitch before hanging up.
They both smiled and connected eyes at the same time.
“Maybe we should go outside tomorrow?”, Bad offered. They both hummed in thought.
Probably not the same thoughts, though. As the end of the night drew closer and closer Skeppy couldn’t pull his mind away from what the sleeping situation would be. Are they going to cuddle? Can he ask Bad to cuddle with him? Was that a one time thing? Why…wait. Why is he so concerned with this? His mind reeled as he realized how obsessive he was being. Saying all that outloud would have been a hilarious meme. But, those panicked thoughts crowding in his head secretly? What would be the point of that?
“I should shower.”, Skeppy announced suddenly, standing up from his chair in one movement. The quickness made Bad flinch a little.
“Alright!”, he responded and moved to the bed on his own.
In the shower, Skeppy forced himself to stand under the freezing cold water before it warmed up. He wrapped his arms around himself and shivered as the icy water transitioned painfully slow to a comfortable temperature. He wondered if he was punishing himself or doing it to try and cool down his burning hot thoughts. Being a little unaware of his own intentions was new to him. When did a piece of him go rogue? Maybe turning 23 meant the start of him going senile. He smiled softly at his own dumb joke.
Skeppy reached out of the shower and dried his hands, setting up his phone now to play music.
He closed his eyes as the music started, dropping his head back into the water and letting it drench his hair.
Skeppy forced himself to not think about whether or not Bad and him would be cuddling tonight. He tried to relax.
~~“Take me to your best friends house
goin’ round this roundabout, oh yeah.
Take me to your best friends house
I loved you then, and I’ll love you now, oh yeah”~~
He didn’t know if he would be in Bad’s arms again tonight or not, but he scrubbed himself clean and washed his hair…just in case. He stepped out of the shower and stared into the foggy mirror.
“Idiot.”, he quietly informed himself. Why was this happening? What is this? These thoughts?
He shook his head and drew a blueberry muffin in the mirror fog. Well, a muffin. The fruit in it was implied. He brushed his teeth throughly, glaring at himself in annoyance as he came more into view with the mirror clearing up. He flossed. He used mouthwash. He towel-dried his hair. He rubbed a scented moisturizer across his chest and down his legs, rolling his eyes at his own actions.
Now smelling of apples and feeling squeaky clean, he stepped into a fresh pair of boxers, then black sweatpants. He tapped the counter for a few seconds as he considered ditching the shirt entirely tonight. ‘No.’, his thoughts snapped at him. He tugged on a soft grey t-shirt and left the bathroom.
Skeppy smiled fondly as he found his best friend fast asleep on his back, one hand clutching his phone to his chest. Maybe he shouldn’t have worried so much, just look at how unbothered Bad is.
He set an alarm for the morning incase the other had forgotten and climbed into bed. He left a space between them and laid on his side, facing Bad. He studied the sleeping face for only a few seconds before closing his eyes. He let himself just be happy to be in the same space as his best friend.
Skeppy was just starting to drift asleep when he felt his hand get captured. He peeked open his eyes to find Bad had rolled onto his side and faced him. He looked so peaceful. In his sleep Bad had found Skeppy’s hand and now they weren’t cuddling, but were instead laying a bit apart with their hands connected in the middle. Had they held hands before? Their fingers matched together perfectly. Skeppy’s head was fuzzy. He was scared to move an inch. Although cuddling last night was so fun and comfortable this felt…intimate. He was unsure if there was heat crawling across his cheeks or if it was the warmth from the two being so close. It was…everything.
Best birthday ever.
He closed his eyes and let himself drift off to hopefully join Bad where ever his dreams had pulled him off to.

The sea boiled until it stood still. The bullet stood inches from Niles's face. He was frozen.
Behind the pirate's head echoed endless void, a yawning endless he couldn't describe. And yet, it was there. Tangible. Real.
Wrong.
And as Niles stared beyond his attacker, he saw the void's wretched, corroded stone eye open, crumbling as something came from the nothing.
"You heard."
Niles stared with fear between the bullet and the void's eye. He couldn't speak, frozen in time.
"You will die here. This is not up for debate anymore. You heard too late."
Niles's mind raced, begging for anything else. His child back home in France... He never got to meet them. The cries of his love ripped through mind, only heightening his terror. He promised...
"I can make your death painless. And more importantly... Impermanent."
Niles stared into the void's stone eye, seeing truth. The forces making him listen to this thing... To its proposition. And he saw the loophole. And one burning question ripped through the loophole, not disproving it, but damning the void's offer.
Why?
"I hunger. It has been endless ages since I had a champion. Yours will be the blade that ends the damned."
And with that... The offer felt plausible again.
"The damned will be marked. You will require a monthly sacrifice. Or you will leave this place. You will not be claimed. Not by me. Not by anything. Erased. Make your choice."
Niles couldn't think anything but two burning words in the back of his mind. Back and forth, back and forth, yes or no, no or yes...
Yes.
Chains flashed in a fraction of a fraction of a second out of the void, the hintest hint of a scream ripping the world apart before...
Niles died.
As the pirate laughed and began turning his attention to the rest of the privateer crew, a shiver tore up their spine. The gentle tip of privateer's cutlass hoisting the privateer up... The clack of the privateer's teeth against themselves as he tested his new head...
As the pirate turned to see the man he just shot stand again, a blood red streak ran from the privateer's nose to the back of his head. Skin greying like rot ash and drying away as it exposed his teeth. As the pirate scrambled back, falling on their ass as they watched the ghoul stand straight again, they tried to let out a scream only for pathetic whimpers to take their place, trying to find purchase against the slick, rain-soaked wood of the deck, waves beginning to threaten the sides of the boat.
As the ghoul turned his head towards the pirate, the entire dome of his skull smooth, bar the hole left by the bullet that, even now, is slowly closing. The ghoul saw over the pirate's heart a strange sigil. Simple. But burning bright. Red.
Wrong.
"Damned."
In an instant, the ghoul ran his cutlass through the pirate's eye.
Looking to the other pirates, he realized how out-numbered he was. He had one chance.
"Do it."
The ghoul looked down at the cutlass in his hand in front of him. And he flipped it to a reverse grip. Taking it in both hands.
And he plunged it through his heart.
As he buckled over, feeling every stinging and stabbing pain from the wound tenfold, he felt more. As he barely managed to keep his footing, the ghoul felt his back rip open, revealing the pains' sources. Chains threw themselves across the deck of the ship, seeking the damned.
Five pirates were immediately impaled by the spiked, bladed ends of the chains. As they were thrown into the crashing waves around the ship, the chains flung themselves in a circle, only missing the mast because it was already blown off before. Any pirate that didn't find their head or torso turned to mist quickly found themselves being chased by the chains.
And finally, the ghoul collapsed.
When he awoke, the ghoul found himself in a box. When he pushed the lid, it rattled.
He was chained in.
"Weak."
In an instant, the ghoul broke through the box's lid and slowly shattered the lid as a whole. He found an opening large enough to escape and found himself in the cargo hold of his ship. His crew must have been terrified.
Convincing them would be a nightmare...
“Pick a god and pray” they said, and you did, praying to every god you knew. And as you did this a name popped into your mind, one you didn’t recognize, yet you prayed to them all the same. In response the air stood still, like even the world had forgotten their name.

Making the Best
The medallion leaped from Simone’s hand to press itself against her chest. “Nine hells!” she cried. The final syllable slid down octaves until it came out a rumbling growl.
“Simone!” Dory yelled into the hole. “Are you all right?” Another growl answered her. “Oh, no,” she breathed, then tensed as higher-pitched growls and the tick of claws on stone sounded from behind. She spun, gun in one hand and sword in the other. Her breath caught, though she knew what she would face. After chasing them through the fen, the gnarls had balked when they plunged into the old temple.
“Finally found your nerve, did you?” Dory taunted, her own bravado false in her ears. Stealth and skullduggery were her forte; Simone was the one to plunge headlong into a horde of foes. But Simone lay below, at the bottom of a chasm revealed when the floor gave way, in angels knew what sort of shape. The rest of their band were dead or fled, and Dory fought to reassure herself that she was not about to join them.
Dory thumbed the cylinder of her gun, and squeezed the trigger. The pellet shattered against the floor, and a pungent, stinging cloud erupted at the gnarls’ feet. Those in the lead hissed and yipped, and skipped back to escape the gas, even as those behind pressed to charge forward. “Simone!” Dory shouted over her shoulder. “You still alive? Hang on, I’ll get to you!”
One gnarl, sigils branded into its flesh, waved its hands and chattered. A wind sprang up and blew the gas back at Dory. Another hurled a javelin, which grazed her shoulder. The combined assault drove Dory back, and the decayed stone crumbled under her feet. “Oh shit!” she cried as she toppled backward.
She somersaulted as she fell, and rolled as she hit bottom. Her eyes darted from one side to the other, but the shadows lay too thick for her to see much further than the floor at her feet. Gnarls bickered above, judging the drop for themselves. “Simone?” Dory called. She fished a light from her belt and rubbed it until it glowed. Dory gasped.
Simone’s clothes lay scattered around the room, what was left of them. Dory knelt and picked up a rag that had once been part of Simone’s kilt. “Oh, Simone,” Dory breathed, her heart feeling like it dropped to her gut. “I knew this heist was too good to be true.”
A gnarl dropped to the floor behind her. Dory spun, gun up, cylinder locked on a lethal load. The gnarl leaped, but then arched and shrieked as a bony, pointed shaft jutted out from its chest. The darkness behind it shifted, and a hulking shape stomped forward. It flicked its tail, and the gnarl impaled on the end flung free to hit the wall with a wet crunch.
Dory aimed at the beast’s head, but stopped and stared as it moved more into the light. Then she shrieked in turn as one massive arm looped out and caught her around the waist. Her captor turned, crouched, and leaped upward, clearing the hole and landing on the floor above. One gnarl did not dart aside in time, and a gigantic, taloned paw crushed it to paste.
The other gnarls cried and barked. The beast roared, and dust fell from the ceiling. It strode forward, leaving the gnarls to choose flight or trampling. Some gnarls threw javelins as they gave ground, but the metal points bounced off the monster’s leathery hide. It hawked and spat, and the viscous glob coated several of the gnarls. They screamed and writhed as their flesh and bone melted under the goo, and Dory and her captor swept past them.
At the temple entrance, the scarred gnarl caster chanted and wove patterns in the air. Cracks spread through the masonry, and the portal collapsed on top of Dory and the beast. Dory screamed and threw her hands over her head in a futile reflex, then looked up as she realized none of the deadfall struck her. Her savior strode through the avalanche, weathering tons of stone like a spring shower. It spat again, and the caster dissolved into a puddle. The remaining gnarls scattered, their cries growing fainter as they fled.
They stopped at the campsite, or what the gnarls had left of it. Dory was released, and the beast shrugged out of a makeshift harness. The heavy chest attached by chains thudded to the ground, and the beast stood its full height. “Hello, Dory.”
Dory’s mind struggled. The voice was unchanged, a clear tenor with a midlands lilt. That and the face atop the massive frame, even through the blue and tan hide, with the straight, even nose, slightly wide mouth, and violet eyes, refused to allow doubt to take root.
“Simone,” Dory begged, “what happened?”
Simone tapped her chest. The claw tinked against a medallion, fused to the flesh. “Cursed,” she explained. Her chuckle sounded like an earthquake. “Though I got to say, could have been worse. At least it got us out, clear of the gnarls, and --” she patted the coffin-sized chest, “-- a hefty payday.”
Dory stepped to the chest. The lock gave with little effort, and she moaned in astonishment at what lay under the lid. “Angels. There’s enough here to keep us fat and happy,” she eyed her partner, “hopefully long enough to find you a cure.”
“Or not,” Simone countered. “I could get used to this. Sure, I may not win any beauty contests, but,” she flexed, “this body makes up for it in other ways.”
Dory surprised herself with her own reply. “I don’t know about that,” she said, “winning beauty contests. I think…” she hesitated and swallowed as her mind caught up with her mouth. “I think you’re more beautiful than ever.”
Simone tilted her head and gazed down at Dory. “Didn’t know you were into monsters?”
“I’m not,” Dory replied, and moved closer. “I’m into you. Always have been. And it doesn’t matter what you look like – you’re stuck with me.” Her nerve failed. “If you’ll have me,” she added in a tiny voice.
“If,” Simone echoed. “If?” She bent and swept Dory up, and up, until their faces were level. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Obey. That word rattled in my brain as the guards opened the doors and Frigga gently guided me away from them. Loki was being led by several guards, holding his chains. His eyes met mine and I threw my arms around his neck. His shoulders moved as he tried to spread his arms to hold me but the chains restricted him.
“I’m sorry, darling,” he whispered, burying his face in my hair.
“Don’t listen to Odin, Loki,” I whispered. “I will find a way to see you.”
“No, darling. Look at me.” He pulled away, lifting his hands and cupping my cheeks, ignoring the rattling of the chains. “Do not disobey him. I fear what he’d do to you if you tried.”
“I don’t care, Loki,” I answered, taking his hands in mine, pressing my lips to his fingers. “I will never stop fighting for you.”
At that Odin signaled the guards to remove Loki and they began taking him away, the chains rattling along the floor as he looked back at me. He smiled softly as they took him around the corner and he disappeared from my view. My legs felt weak beneath me and I could feel my breath growing heavy as the wall I’d been carefully trying to hold up began crumbling around me. Frigga could see my body shaking and was by my side in an instant, her arms wrapping around my waist as my legs gave out beneath me and I collapsed into her arms, sobbing against her.
“Breath, my child. It’s alright,” she soothed, gently lowering us to the floor. “We’ll figure this out together… I promise you I will get you to him.”
****
Days turned into weeks and it seemed nothing was changing. Two guards had been posted outside of my room; Odin claimed it was for my safety but we both knew it was to keep me from seeing Loki. I was in my room, staring at the wall as a maid changed the pillow case I’d been laying on, removing the tear-stained silk and replacing it with a fresh one. A second maid took a seat next to me, wiping my tears and grabbing a makeup case. She began applying a light touch of makeup, hiding my puffy eyes and red cheeks. Frigga and Thor had brought me to my room several weeks ago, placing me in the care of the two maids who were kind enough not to say anything when I cried my eyes out. They’d left the room, standing with the two guards posted outside my room as I screamed into the pillow. They returned a few minutes after I went silent and began removing any evidence of my breakdown, without saying a word about it.
A knock on the door caught my attention just as one of the maids put the finishing touches on my makeup and the other went to answer the door. Frigga and Thor stepped into the room as the first maid helped me up, taking off the robe and revealing a green dress I hadn’t even realized they’d put on me.
“You look beautiful, my child,” Frigga said.
“Truly regal,” Thor added.
“What’s going on?” I asked, cringing at the sound of my voice, still scratchy from crying.
“We have a small window, but we mustn't waste it,” Frigga answered, before taking my arm, thanking the maids and guiding me out of the room.
Once we rounded the corner leading to the stairs of the dungeons Frigga turned to me. “This is as far as I can go. Thor will take you the rest of the way and ensure you are safely returned to your room.”
“I-I can see him?”
“Odin is handling a conflict with Vanaheim and Heimdall has agreed to keep the details of what we are doing a secret from my husband. He knows how much you and Loki care about each other.”
Tears filled my eyes as she spoke and I threw my arms around her. She chuckled, returning the hug before sending me with Thor. My heart was racing in my chest as we reached a door with two men standing guard. They bowed to Thor before their eyes fell on me and back to Thor.
“I’m sorry, your highness, but we cannot let the girl in. We are under orders-.”
“To open the door for no one other than the royal family and that is I.”
“I understand, your highness, but she is not and we are under orders.”
“She is with me,” Thor answered, turning to me. “She’s as close to the royal family as I am and you’d do well to respect her as such.”
“I apologize, your highness, but I cannot-.”
In an instant Thor had grabbed the man’s collar, his voice dangerously low. “You will open these doors this instant or I will have you moved to one of the cells.”
The guard gulped before nodding and Thor released him. He quickly opened the doors and Thor threatened them once more before entering the dungeons with me. He led me through dungeons, passing dangerous criminals along the way before reaching Loki’s cell.
“If you’ve come to say I told you so I’m not in the mood, brother,” Loki hissed without looking up at Thor or I.
“You know me better than that, Loki,” I answered, causing Thor to smirk. Loki’s eyes shot up, locking with mine.
“Y/n?” he whispered, his eyes softening for just a moment before returning cold once again. “This is a trick,” he spat.
“No, it’s not a trick,” I said, moving closer to his cell. I turned to Thor who quickly nodded and, with the press of a button, Loki’s cell was opened. Tears filled both of our eyes as I slowly entered his cell.
“Darling? Y-you can’t be here. Odin, he-.”
“I don’t care what Odin said. Frigga and Thor found a window for us. Odin is busy but I don’t know how much time we have. I want to make the most of it.”
“I’ll leave you two alone,” Thor said, closing the cell. “I’ll return for you in a few hours, Y/n.”
I nodded, thanking him and he left us alone. I wasted no time, quickly wrapping my arms around his neck. He relaxed into my touch, wrapping his arms around my waist, and burying his face in my hair.
“What if Odin finds out?”
“Then I suppose I’ll be spending eternity in here with you,” I answered.
“Don’t say things like that,” he hissed, his grip tightening around my waist. “I couldn’t bear the thought of you trapped in here… especially with Hydra after you.”
“I don’t care what happens to me… as long as I’m with you.”
He pulled back, cupping my face in his hands, before crashing his lips against mine, his fingers tangling in my hair as he pulled me impossibly closer.
“I won’t lose you again,” he growled against my lips.
“You won’t, Loki… I promise,” I assured him, returning my lips to his.
“Is that what you came down here for, you little minx? Got my brother and mother to bring you here just so you could fuck me, hm? Just so you could sate your terrible craving for my cock?”
“Oh, fuck,” I whispered. “I see you’re in your dominating mood again, Loki.”
“How can I not when you’re dressed so deliciously? And in my colors no less?” He was slowly backing me against the wall when we heard footsteps approaching. He quickly moved us to the bed, laying next to me and darkening the room. The guard passed by without a second glance and Loki climbed over me, lifting my hands above my head.
“This isn’t how I imagined our first time together, sweet girl,” he whispered.
“Do you want to stop?” I asked softly.
“Never,” he growled, pressing his lips to my neck. His teeth sunk into the skin and I knew they would leave a bruise but the thought excited me. He began trailing his lips down my body, his hands reaching under the dress. His fingers moved to my underwear, slipping them off and sliding the dress up my legs before diving into my dripping cunt, his tongue sliding along my folds.
“Fuck, darling… you’ve been hiding this delicious little cunt from me for far too long.”
“No more hiding, Loki,” I whimpered. He looked up at me briefly before returning to my dripping core, sucking on my clit. I could feel my orgasm approaching as his skilled tongue continued to work against my folds.
I moaned, moving my hand to tangle in his hair. He growled as I tugged on the dark locks, pleasure coursing through me at the vibrations from his lips.
“Norns, you’re perfect,” he murmured before thrusting his tongue in my entrance. I screamed at the unexpected intrusion and the pleasure that followed. My walls clenched around his tongue and I could feel his smirk against my core as he removed his tongue from my aching hole and returned his attention to my clit.
“Cum for me, baby,” he murmured and that was all it took for me to let go, my release coating his tongue. He slowly moved up my body, pressing his lips to mine, grinding his hips against mine, his hard cock pressing into me through his clothes.
“Please, Loki,” I whimpered. “I need your cock.”
He chuckled and, with a wave of his hand, our clothes disappeared entirely. His skin was quickly pressed against mine as the clothes dissolved, his cock nudging my folds. He groaned at the contact and the sound sent shivers down my spine, sending goosebumps running along my skin. He looked down, searching my eyes. “Are you sure about this, darling? There’s no going back if we do this.”
“I don’t want to go back, Loki,” I said, breathlessly. “I want you… all of you. I never want to go back to not having you.”
“You never will, darling,” he assured, solidifying the promise by slipping his cock inside me, his hands placed on either side of my head, securing me in place. I threw my head back, arching my back, pressing my breasts against his chest. He began slowly thrusting, capturing my lips with his.
We were lost in our own world, no longer caring about the outside world or the guards pacing the dungeon floors. The only light came from the torches outside the room but I didn’t care. I didn’t need to see his eyes to know the love he felt for me; It was pouring out of his every action. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer as my back pressed into the bed once again, his weight pressing me down.
“I’m gonna cum!” I yelled, pressing him even closer if that was possible.
“Can you hold on for me, sweet girl?” he practically begged as he increased his pace, his cock twitching inside me. “I want us to cum together.” I nodded and he smiled, burying his head in the crook of my neck. After a few more thrusts he growled into my ear.
“Cum.”
His deep voice sent me over the edge, milking his cock, his cum coating my walls. He collapsed beside me, breathing heavily. He lifted a hand to my cheek, gently rubbing it with his thumb.
“We never should’ve waited so long to do that,” he whispered.
“We’ll never wait that long again,” I replied, hoping my words would be true.

Love through the blood and tears
Laito x reader
Summary
You lived with the sakamakis before Yui. You're a failed experiment to Karlheins. When his spawn fail to kill you he takes matters into his own hands when you're alone.
You screamed as Karlheins kicked you into the wall. He was angry. Angrier than you'd ever seen him.
You'd only ever seen him 3 times before this and each time it was a family meeting. You weren't invited.
"What did I tell you!? You're supposed to be dead. Dead. Dead. Dead." He kicked your stomach with each 'dead'.
    "Sir-" another lung crushing kick.
"If my ignorant sons won't kill you I'll do it for them!" He snarled. Reaching down he gripped your hair, yanking you up.
   "Please," you sobbed, "please stop."
Your face was swollen from crying and loose hair was sticking to your cheeks.
"I'll leave. I'll go away. Just please. Please stop." You lied, sniffling trying to tug his hand away from your scalp.
"Like hell." Then he threw you.
You flew into the staircase the railing breaking, splinters of wood falling to the ground with you.
You screamed as you skidded across the floor, the broken pieces of railing surrounding you.
"You think you have the right to ask me for mercy. The audacity of humans never fails to amaze me." He laughed.
"Stop!" You begged as your head pounded. Looking up you felt something warm dripping down your face. You reached up to wipe it away and winced. Blood.
"Oh how easily you bleed." Karlheins mocked.
Sitting up you pushed yourself away from him. It was nearing 2 in the morning. The boys and Yui should be here any minute.
"I don't know why you're doing this, but please just leave me alone." You whimpered grabbing a piece of the railing.
"You can't stop me, you won't stop me." He growled stepping closer.
You pushed yourself up and ran in the opposite direction, towards the door.
"Pathetic." He sighed annoyed. You didnt stand a chance.
You flew into the nearest wall coughing as the air left your lungs.
"You. Can't. Run." He grinned his fangs showing. His hand tightened around your neck and the other pushed the hair out of your face.
You cried out when he slid his thumb over your forehead, the blood smearing onto it. Then he licked it.
"You're still so sweet. A shame." You could feel the tears well up as you began to realize you were alone. No one was going to save you.
Closing your eyes you went limp in his hold.
"Please don't tell me you just fainted. That would take the thrill out of killing such a meaningless creature." He mock pouted. You didn't open your eyes. You knew if you did he'd snap your neck.
You didn't want to die. You don't want to die. There was so much more you wanted to do. Needed to do. Laito. You wanted to tell Laito you loved him. You wanted to see him laugh at you as you got flustered. You wanted to promise him you'd never leave him, like his mother did. That he was your one and only. Fuck. You couldn't die.
Opening your eyes you met the eyes of the man who helped create your lover. The man who helped destroy his idea of love. The man who wanted to kill you.
"No." You said your voice cracking a little.
"No?" He laughed as if you'd told a joke. "You're telling me, no?"
"I will not die. I refuse to die." You snarled as you began to claw at his arms.
"Fucking hell." The vampire sighed. "Too bad. I'm going to-" he was cut off as the mansion doors slammed open.
"Y/n are you okay?! I smelled-" Laito stopped in his tracks. You could only imagine what he saw.
"Father. What the fuck are you doing?"
"Laito, Laito, Laito. I told you and your brothers to kill this thing." Karlheins tutted as he threw you to the ground in front of him. In between him and his sons.
You cried out as you crashed to the floor,  your head spinning momentarily.
"Your point?" Laito asked as he took a step forward.
"My point being since you all were too incompetent, I'll do it for you." Your eyes widened before you felt his grip on your ankle.
"No!" You looked up to see Laito leaping at you, as his father dragged you upwards. You hung in his father's grip.
"Laito please. This girl is no longer necessary." He sighed shaking you. You blinked away the tears as they slid down your face, dripping onto the floor.
"To you." You heard Laito say, muffled by the ringing that was in your ears.
That was the last thing you heard before Laito launched at you and his father.
The other 5 brothers stared in shock as they watched Laito fight Karl, trying to get to you. Reiji nearly jumped when Karl threw you to the side. You crumbled to the ground without a sound.
Ayato held on to Yui watching as Laito fought for you. He'd never seen his brother look so desperate. When he saw you get thrown into the wall he lightly pushed Yui to the side, behind his other brothers.
Karl was distracted by Laito so he ran, scooping you up into his arms, nearly dropping you again when the scent of your blood actually hit him.
He knew he had to get you away now though. Laito cared about you. More than he'd seen Laito care about anything.
Running back to his siblings he slid to a stop as Karl walked right in front of him.
"Tsk." Ayato clicked his tongue. "Hey old man, you're in my way."
    "Ayato. Give me the girl."
   "No."
     "Excuse me?"
    "You deaf? No."
Ayato glared the vampire king down. He wasn't going to give in. Making eye contact with Laito and Reiji he nodded
Faking to the left he sped to the right giving your crumpled form to Laito as Reiji blocked Karl.
"Damn it. You boys are so troublesome." Karl snarled pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Then leave." Shu raised his eyebrows.
"We didn't invite you." Kanato agreed hugging Teddy.
"She is going to die. With or without me." He hissed at the siblings glaring at Laito in particular.
"Fuck off." Laito growled. With that their dad was gone, and the house was covered in your blood.
You groaned as your head pounded. Your eyes were crusted shut and your hair was sticking to your face with blood and tears.
You tried to open your eyes but they refused to open. Reaching up with your right hand you nearly screamed in pain. Your ribs ached. Your arm felt like it was dislocated. Or it had been. Everything hurt.
Reaching up with the left you rubbed the crust away, your eyes opening slowly. You weren't in your room. You were in Laitos' room. The green comforter was heavy, and the curtains were closed.
"Laito?" You called out quietly, shocked by how croaky your voice really was. You saw a figure in the corner and tensed up.
"Not Laito." I heard the voice answer. Your eyes widened as you tried to throw the comforter off of yourself.
"Oh no. Don't even try that." The voice chirped as they jumped at you.
With him closer you noted that the male was blonde with blue eyes.
"No!" You screamed as he shoved you down, straddling you.
With him on top of you, he wrapped his hands around your throat.
"You've caused quite a lot of grief. Now you'll die." You struggled under his hold as he cut off your air supply.
   "Noo!"
Jumping awake you reached for your throat. Laito. You needed Laito.
You winced as you pushed the comforter away. You were in a pair of shorts and one of Laitos' button ups.
Pushing yourself off the bed, your legs collapsed underneath you. You cried out as everything crashed into you.
"Laito!" You cried tears streaming down your face.
"Y/n?! Y/n! What's wrong?" Laito held your face in his hands. Crying harder you reached up to hold his hands to your face.
"Oh Laito. I love you. I love you so much. I know you said never say I love you, I know you said never to but i-" you choked on your tears. "I love you, Laito." You cried collapsing into his arms.
You felt him stiffen up as you sobbed into his shirt. You shouldn't have said anything. You should've just let Karlheins kill you.
"I'm sorry." You heard Laito say.
You felt your heart stop. He didn't love you. He didn't love you back. You made a fool of yourself. How could you be so stupid? You were so-
He must've felt you freeze because he held onto you tighter.
"I'm- I meant I'm sorry that I wasn't here when you needed me. I- I think I love you too. Seeing you like that, like this it kills me. I care about you so much. I care so much and it scares me."
Looking up at him you reached around his neck and pulled him into you.
"I'm okay I think." You whispered. He laughed at you before pulling away slowly.
"Y/n. Can I- can I kiss you? Please." Staring into his eyes you laughed.
"Just kiss me." You shook your head pulling him onto your lips.
It was a passionate kiss. The kind that makes you lose your breath. Yet it was soft. So soft. His fangs grazed your lips slightly, and it made you smile.
Pulling apart he stayed close to your lips, holding onto your face.
"I thought I lost you." He whispered.
"I thought I was never going to be able to tell you I loved you." You whispered back.
That caused him to let out a loud laugh.
"You nearly died and you were worried you hadn't told me you loved me?" He breathed out.
"Yeah." You sighed looking into his eyes. "Yeah."

Let Go - Part 3
Reposting from my deleted acct.
Warnings: physical violence
That night you got a text from JJ’s number.
JJ: Hey Y/N, it’s Pope. I stole JJ’s phone and he’s trying to kill me over it right now.
JJ: Anyway, he hasn’t stopped talking about you. Just thought you should know.
JJ: Don’t let him hide you from us.
JJ: Kay gotta go, can’t breathe, bye
You laughed out loud at Pope’s texts and swooned over the fact that JJ was talking about you to his friends and that the Pogues, or Pope at least, seemed like he wanted to hangout with you. Then more texts came through.
JJ: Sry pope doesnt kno wut hes talking about. ignore him.
JJ: i cant let ur head get any bigger knowing tht im simping for u over here. I’ll have to put u in ur place again.😉
Y/N: Is that place on my knees in front of you?
JJ: ugh stop. ur gonna make me hard and wer on the boat
Y/N: Hey you started it
JJ: Yeah well I’ll finish it too when i see u tmrw pretty girl
Y/N: You better 😈
JJ: ur killin me smalls 🍆
You went to sleep that night blissfully happy. But you woke up full of dread knowing you had to breakup with Rafe.
You texted him telling him that you needed to see him and talk. He seemed to know something was up, but he told you to meet him at your favorite park in Figure 8.
Before you left to meet him, you texted JJ that you were meeting Rafe. And then you shared your location with him. You had a feeling JJ would end up being close by, but you frowned when he didn’t text back and thought maybe you should call him. No, it’ll be fine. Rafe doesn’t need to know what happened. I’ll just end it and it’ll be fine.
You pulled up to the park and saw Rafe....
You had worn a hoodie, because it was the only thing you had that would really cover all the hickeys, that you also tried, pretty unsuccessfully, to cover with make-up.
“Hey beautiful” he greeted you softly from his spot seated at a bench and kissed your cheek as you sat down next to him. You were ashamed of yourself that you still felt a warm fuzzy feeling despite the fact that Rafe didn’t you treat you right and JJ already showed you more affection in such a short time.
“Hey doll” you greeted back out of habit.
You and Rafe were both quiet for a minute, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. You and Rafe enjoyed the scenery and the nearby fountain in silence.
“It’s over huh?” He asked solemnly, still looking off in the distance at first and then to you.
“Yeah” You admitted with a sigh before continuing, “I think we’re just growing apart and maybe we’re not the best for one another.” You said slowly.
You hated yourself for saying it that way, for not calling Rafe out on everything. And you hated yourself for not being 100% truthful that you cheated. But a part of you still loved him and a bigger part of you was just trying to survive this without a screaming match or something worse.
Rafe nodded and offered a small smile.
“I’ll always love you though. You know that right?” He said, squeezing your hand gently.
You melted a little. Rafe really could be the boyfriend you needed ...sometimes.
“Me too” is all you said with a gentle smile.
Rafe sighed and stood up. He opened his arms out for a hug. You stepped in and wrapped your arms around his waist.
That wasn’t so bad you thought as you breathed in his cologne one last time and savored being in his arms for a second.
You felt Rafe shift a little and playing with the hood of your sweatshirt.
“Why’re you wearing a hoodie?” He asked, with genuine intrigue in his voice. You felt your heart stop and you tried to stop yourself from sweating more than you already were. You swallowed hard and then cleared your throat, trying to act casual.
“Just was a little chilly earlier.” You stated simply, pulling away from Rafe. Who looked at you skeptically.
“It’s July. It’s hot as fuck out. There’s no way you’re cold.” He said tugging at the hem of the jacket. You pushed his hands away.
“Rafe stop. I wanna keep it on. I’m cold.” You said, trying to squirm away from him. He firmly grabbed hold of both your wrists and pulled you towards him a little, motivating you to look up at his now deeply disbelieving expression. The furrow in his brow, made you nervous and you bit the inside of your cheek. You could see the gears turning in his head as he registered your very guilty and scared demeanor you couldn’t hide.
“Why’re you wearing a jacket, Y/N?” He asked in a sternly dangerous tone that gave you goosebumps. Your breathing started getting heavy.
“Rafe” You warned nervously.
His jaw became clenched. And he forcefully ripped the hemline of your pullover upward and wrenched your arm out one of the sleeves.
“Rafe! Stop!” You yelled at him as you tried to squirm away but he manhandled you and harshly tugged your hoodie the rest of the way off and threw it on the ground, leaving you in your sports bra, completely exposing the hickeys on your neck and chest. You quickly tried to cover yourself and reach down for your hoodie at the same time, but Rafe grabbed your forearms again, hard enough to leave bruises.
Fuck. Where’s JJ when you need him?
Rafe looked you up and down before tightening his grip on your arms. “You little fucking whore.” He swore through gritted teeth.
“Rafe you’re hurting me.” You said with a whiny tone you couldn’t hold back.
“You’re just cold, huh? I can’t believe you fucked another guy, you cheating slut!” He spat as he throttled you.
“Rafe calm down.” You said, trying not to cry. God, JJ, please come. “I’m sorry, okay?”
“You’re sorry?! You’re sorry?!” Rafe laughed darkly, before moving a hand to your throat, but not fully squeezing yet. “You cheat on me and all you can say is you’re sorry?!”
“Rafe! Please!” You begged, tears now welling up in your eyes.
“Who’d you let fuck you, Y/N? Hmm? Who marked you up knowing you were mine?”
“Rafe, please let go!” You cried.
“Tell me who it was, Y/N!” He growled at you in a way that made your blood run cold and he started to squeeze your throat. You clawed at his hand and his arm as he cut off your airway.
“Cameron!” JJ yelled as he ran over to you. Rafe was caught off guard and let go of your throat. You collapsed to the ground gasping for air. JJ immediately was at your side.
“Y/N! Are you okay? Go to your car, now.” JJ told you. But you stayed in your position, mostly out of necessity, given the fact you couldn’t breathe.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me” Rafe said. “You cheated on me with this fucking piece of shit pogue?!” He asked you, as JJ stood up and faced him.
“Leave. Now.” JJ told Rafe.
Rafe snorted, “Or what?” He challenged, stepping towards JJ.
Right then, police sirens went off. All 3 of you turned to see a Kildare County Sheriff SUV and Shoupe step out.
“Is there a problem gentleman?” Shoupe asked them walking towards the 3 of you.
Rafe and JJ were glaring at each other. You took the opportunity to put your hoodie back on.
Finally, Rafe said, “No problem here officer.” As he didn’t take his eyes off JJ, daring him to rat him out.
“Looks like you’re on the wrong side of town, Mr. Maybank. Everything okay Miss Y/L/N?” Shoupe asked.
“Yeah, JJ came to take me home. Rafe was just leaving.” You said.
By now, Shoupe had taken notice of the red mark on your neck and the fact you were on the ground with a defensive JJ in between you and Rafe. It was very obvious what had been going on.
“Mr. Cameron, I think you should head on home now.” Shoupe said. And you internally rolled your eyes. Of course, Shoupe would let Rafe just leave.
Rafe just glared at JJ.
“Rafe.” Shoupe said more firmly.
“I’ll see you soon Y/N, Maybank.” He promised in a dangerous tone before turning toward his car.
JJ watched him leave with his fists clenched. Once Rafe was driving away, JJ took a deep breath and pulled you into a tight hug.
“Miss Y/L/N, do you need to see a doctor?” Shoupe asked.
“No, I’m fine.” You said from JJ’s arms.
“Alright. You 2 take care, now.” Shoupe said as both an apology and a warning getting back in his car.
Now, it was just you and JJ. He was still holding you tight. “Are you okay?” He asked softly, glancing down at you. You nodded but kept your head tight to his chest squeezing his waist and cried a little.
You only let yourself cry for a second and then sucked it up and when you sniffled, JJ held you back a little so he could look at you. He checked your expression and waited for you to nod as he slowly and gently pulled the collar of your hoodie down a little so he could see your neck.
A pained grimace appeared on JJ’s face and anyone looking at him could have probably seen his heart break in front of them as he looked at your injury.
You might have JUST admitted feelings for each other yesterday, but you couldn’t explain it. You and JJ felt right. It was young summer love, a whirlwind romance where you both fell hard and fast. And the fact that he was partly at fault for the huge hematoma forming on your neck, the fact Rafe quite literally could have killed you made JJ feel like crumbling.
“I’m gonna kill him.” JJ said to himself more than you. “Fuck, I’m so sorry Y/N.”
“JJ. This is not your fault. Okay? Rafe is the one who had his hand around my neck not you.” You said with your hands holding his face.
“But I-”
“No! Stop! I’m telling you this isn’t your fault. And I’m fine. See? I’m in one piece.”
JJ almost had tears spilling out.
“I promise.” You reassured him. He closed his eyes and nodded.
“So you taking me out on a date or what, Maybank?” You asked, desperately just wanting to see JJ’s face free of anguish again. He smiled a little and sniffled.
“Yeah, I’m taking you out. Give me your keys.” He said smiling.
“Uh uh” You tsked, “You think I’m gonna let you drive my Porsche? I’ve seen you take a turn in John B’s van on 2 wheels. I’m not letting you behind the wheel of my baby.”
“Fine” JJ pouted. But then he snatched the keys from your hand and mimicked the shocked look on your face and taunted you.
“JJ!” You shouted reaching for the keys, but he held them out of reach from you.
“Ooh sucks to be short, huh Y/N?” He said as he stumbled to your car still holding you back from the keys.
“JJ.” You said seriously. “Give. Me. My. Keys.” He just looked at you waiting for you to threaten something as he stood next to the driver’s door. “Give me my keys or I’m not sucking your dick for a month.” You threatened.
“Pfft” JJ scoffed, “Like you could go a month without begging for my cock down your throat? Bet” He said, nodding his chin up at you. You contemplated it and you knew he was probably right. You furrowed your brow.
“I swear to god, if you crash my car, I will kill you Maybank.” You said as you walked to the passenger’s.
“Whoo!” JJ cheered before awkwardly crawling into your front seat. “Jesus, your seat’s so close to the wheel!” He complained throwing the seat back and fixing all the mirrors.
“JJ! You are fucking up all my stuff!” You yelled at him and punched him in the arm. He ignored you and revved the engine.
“Ooofff” JJ groaned, “this is making me so horny. Can we have sex later?”
You glared at him.
“You’re eating me out for at least an hour for stealing my car.” You folded your arms and looked out the front windshield. JJ leaned over and pecked your cheek.
“My pleasure baby.” he said, throwing your car in drive and screeching the tires.
“JJ!”

Chapter 5 || Shattering the peace
Tumblr media
Once you three were ready to leave, you threw away your rubbish but instead of heading out the door you decided to ascend the floors to check out the famed Yakitori restaurant. The elevators were in use so you took the stairs since there weren't too many floors above you and according to Misaki, Kirara needed the exercise. After climbing up a few floors a violent and sudden crashing noise forced us to stop. What accompanied next were terrified screaming and more scary banging and crashing noises.
"What the hell's going on?" Kirara demanded, suddenly alert.
"AH! What was that?!!" Misaki squealed.
"It came from above! Are villains attacking?!" you cried, starting to panic.
Just as you said that there was an even louder thundering noise of shattering glass and crumbling concrete. This one made that whole building shake, Kirara lost her balance on one of the steps and would've fallen down had you not caught her. Misaki hung onto you and Kirara and you all huddled in a corner of the stairway as the building fell apart around you.
Kirara looked at the door up and said, "We can't stay here, if we do, we'll risk being crushed. Let's go in there so at least then we'll have more space to work with."
"But if all the commotion is above us, doesn't it make sense to go down?!" you frantically reasoned.
"No, we're too high up! We'll never make it to the bottom before getting trapped or worse!" Misaki yelled, starting to get up, "The heroes must be rushing over here right now, if we can get to a window, they'll spot us and will be able to rescue us. Over here through that door!" she ordered before rushing over to it, dragging me and Kirara with her and throwing it open.
"But...but...there must be hundreds of people in this building! We can't bank on the heroes rescuing us, especially if there's a threat out there causing all of this!" you said close to tears. Your entire body was shaking from fear, you felt like there was a weight on your chest, making it hard for you to breathe.
Mikasa saw you hyperventilating and came over as Kirara looked through one of the massive windows in search of help. She took your hands and said passionately, "We know that the top two heroes in the country are here right now, it'll be ok. Endeavour is really strong and Hawks is unrivalled when it comes to evacuating civilians- they've got this."
"Ok," you said quietly, trying to slow your breathing, "Thanks, I feel a little better."
"Are you just saying that or...?"
"Guys," Kirara interjected, fumbling for her glasses, "I think I see something flying around out there, but I can't quite make it out."
"That must be Hawks!" Misaki said excitedly and she sprinted over to the window to take a look.
Just as she did, there was another awful crashing sound from above and mere seconds later the ceiling began to collapse in on you. Kirara acted swiftly. She seized Misaki's wrist and pulled her under a table, yelling at you to do the same and you managed to find cover just as everything from above crashed down on the three of you. Debris and rubble buried the room, leaving it essentially destroyed and pitch black
---
Somehow, you survived.
It seemed like only pieces of the floor above fell down, that being said the damage it caused was immense. The power went out, all the windows were blocked by rubble and the room was made smaller due to the amount of debris cluttering it. You coughed a bit due to the dust now hanging around the air and activated your quirk. Instantly the room became perfectly visible again and you looked around as you crawled out of your little shelter. Just as you did, you heard Kirara's voice.
"Y/n?! Y/n! Are you ok?!" she cried.
"I'm ok!" you yelled back, coughing, "Are you and Misaki alright?"
"I'm bruised and scraped up a bit," she said, calmer now that she knows that you all made it, "But there's something wrong with Misaki. She got trapped under the table, I managed to free her, but she said she can't move. I don't know what to do."
"Wait there, I'll come to you!" You yelled. As you got up, you felt a searing pain from the outer part of just above your ankle and you looked down to see that it had been pierced by a thick shard of glass. Not wanting to alarm Kirara and Misaki, you put my hands over your mouth and silently screamed out the pain. Looking at the wound helplessly you debated on what to do. Should you try and pull it out, or keep it in? Hot tears ran down your cheeks as you dithered, desperately switching between the two options. You knew that you needed to stop the blood flow, but would the glass get in the way of patching it up?
Deciding to just pull it out and then use your tights to patch it up, you were about to slowly take out the shard when you heard Misaki and Kirara screaming. Despite the pain you got up and limped over to where you heard their voices, squeezing through gaps of concrete and pushing past cabinets. Ducking under a table you finally came to where Misaki and Kirara were, but as you looked up, you saw Misaki being dragged away by seemingly nothing at all. You did however see a flash of red which made you think that she was stabbed by something and was being reeled away. You cried out and tried to reach for her, but she was quickly whisked out of the tight space, clearly too injured to fight back.
"Misaki?! Misa? What happened? Y/n where are you? Hey-! What the hell?! Who is that?! Let go of me!" Kirara called out. She couldn't see a thing and was flailing around desperately trying to get free.
"Kirara! I'm here!" You shrieked and grabbed her hand trying to pull her away from this malevolent force.
"You better not let go!" she said fiercely as she held onto your arms.
"Don't worry, I won't let go!" you reassured her.
It felt like you were playing tug-of-war with whatever was trying to take Kirara away. However, with Kirara also trying to break free, the two of you were slowly overpowering this thing. Just as it seemed like Kirara would break free of it's hold, the force suddenly became twice as strong, then three times. The third made you lose your footing and let go, much to Kirara's horror as from her perspective, she was sent flying into the abyss. To you however, it looked like she had just rounded some concrete and left your line of sight. But regardless, you were still just as scared.
"Kirara no!!" You shouted. Immediately after you cried out, you too were overtaken by this strange force and compelled to move where it took your new friends. Determined to not left yourself get captured, you slipped out of your V-neck jumper and threw it to the ground. This freed you of its hold, and you half ran half limped away from it. You moved as fast as you possibly could, feeling blood trickle down your ankle and as you ran, you tore off your shoes in an effort to make less noise. Trying to lose it, you took as many twists and turns as you could, not caring about where you were going- not that you would've known, even with night vision. The only thing that you could tell was that it felt like you were heading up. Which wasn't good.
You've never been all that good at running, so it didn't take long for you to get fatigued, at which point you leaned your back against a wall and tried to catch your breath. Thinking that you were safe you leaned your back against the cracked wall behind you and slid onto the floor, exhausted. You tried to listen out for Misaki and Kirara, but even though the commotion inside had all but vanished, it was also incredibly noisy outside. There must be something big going down right now.
A battle.
Tears threatened to spill again as you closed your eyes and huddled into a little ball, your right hand shaking as it hovered over your injured leg. This is exactly what you were afraid of. What your parents warned you of. Yet what your mind had told you was unlikely. Why did something like this have to happen to you? Right now? It was your first day, you were excited to take this new step in your career, you'd even make a couple of friends. And now, they were long gone and you...well, you were beginning to doubt that you'd even survive this. You were trapped, alone, and unable to move. Hugging your legs, you began to cry quietly into your knees. Inside your mind you prayed desperately for someone, anyone, to save you.
And your prayers were answered.
It started with the faint sound of scraping rock. Yet the sound gradually became louder and louder, and you opened your eyes to see that the small space around you was beginning to brighten up. As you blinked to give your eyes time to adjust to this increase in light, effectively turning off your quirk, you caught glimpses of brief flashes of crimson. Red...feathers? Swivelling to look behind, you saw gaps in the rock showing the outside world. The moment you moved away from the wall, the whole thing crumbled away, leaving a large gap.
From the gap, a slightly displeased winged man with blonde windswept hair, yellow jacket and trousers, a yellow visor and black headphones appeared. Your eyes widened. The man in front of you was the number 2 hero: Hawks.
"What's the big idea running away from my feathers? Do you not want to be rescued?" he said, annoyed. That was when he saw your terrified face, shaking body, injured leg and checked himself. He held out his hand and said in a voice with less of a ticked off edge, "Come with me, I'll get you somewhere safe."
You felt a pang in your chest as you realised that the red you saw on Misaki's collar... was actually just one of his feathers. So that means that this whole time you were actually getting in the way of your rescue and even worse, theirs. Misaki and Kirara had an excuse, they couldn't see anything and couldn't have known what was pulling them. But you? You had no such excuse. And on top of that Misaki needed medical attention, what was going to happen to her if you had successfully ran away from the feathers? Most of the fear you had felt up to this point had turned to shame as your face burned with embarrassment and guilt.
"I..." you whispered, desperately wanting to apologise but no words came out. He impatiently waved his hand up and down in front of you slightly, so you silently took his hand and he gently helped you up. The adrenaline now leaving your system made the injury even more painful, to the point of it being unbearable. As you stood up, you stumbled, making the hero catch you and pick you up bridal style.
"We're heading down now, if you don't like heights then close your eyes and don't open them until I say so," he said and began to fly down, descending slowly as to not hurt your leg with a rush of wind.
You did not heed his warning since you're not afraid of heights. Instead, you kept them wide open and witnessed the destruction caused by whatever caused the floor to collapse on you. Looking back, you saw that the building you were just in appeared to be split in two, with the gap only a floor or two above where Misaki, Kirara and you were. The buildings around it also had quite a bit of damage done to them. You saw people flying out of some of those buildings, or more accurately being pulled away from the danger by...well, this was definitely Hawks' doing.
He noticed you looking at the people and said kind of amused, "Get what I was trying to do now?"
You blushed and said very quietly, "I didn't know it was you. Sorry, for wasting your time."
"Yeah, you certainly made my job a lot harder, but this isn't a waste of time," he said, now surveying the area. There was a series of loud crashing noises to your left, and you both turned your heads in that direction to see Endeavour fire-blasting a large winged monster into a building. Hawks sighed and said with a ghost of a smile, "I'm not powerful enough to be of much use to Endeavour, so I'm using my speed to ensure that he at least doesn't have to worry about any people getting hurt."
"What is Endeavour fighting? Is that a villain?" you asked. Your voice was hoarse from screaming, in fact you sounded nothing like your usual self. You were also just realising how little you know about what's going on.
"In a way. It's more like a puppet though," he answered, "That's what a Nomu looks like."
A Nomu? You'd heard about those on the news back home, but since they were always defeated with relative ease and were an overseas issue, they weren't really a topic of public discussion. It makes sense for people to take them more serious as a threat here, although you personally don't see that big deal. Hadn't Endeavour defeated like ten of those things? It should be fine, right? That being said, you had no idea what a Nomu was, you had forgotten what they looked like and what made them so dangerous. You've always been ignorant of world and domestic affairs. It isn't something you're proud of.
"What's a Nomu?" you asked, suddenly sounding like yourself again. For some reason it came off as a silly question. But then again, asking dumb questions is pretty you thing to do.
Hawks gave you a funny look. To you, it was as if he was wondering if you were trying to better understand Nomus or if you genuinely knew nothing about them. Since you didn't seem to know much about his quirk, you guessed that he opted for the latter when he said, "A Nomu is a freak of nature with multiple quirks and virtually no humanity left."
Your eyes widened as you took in this information. Multiple quirks? How can a person give something multiple quirks? Is there a quirk that do it? Or is it some sort of surgical procedure? And what did 'virtually no humanity left' mean? Were they once human? He called them puppets of villains...so does that mean that this was part of the changing times Keigo warned you about? You didn't know.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" Hawks said when he caught your expression. He also sounded... worried?
"...I just don't really know how to feel about it," you said.
Just as you said that the two of you landed on a pavement by a ruined building and he carried you over to a medical team that was stationed a couple blocks away from the action. There were dozens of people receiving medical attention, some sat on the pavement, others were lying on mats and a select few were being rushed into ambulances. Despite the shear amount of people, as you looked, you couldn't see Kirara or Misaki, which started to worry you.
"This girl has an injured leg and can't walk properly because of it," Hawks said to one of the medical staff as he gently placed you into one of the few available chairs. The paramedic nodded at him, before bending down to examine the bloody wound above your ankle.
You still didn't know if Misaki and Kirara were alright so you asked the man examining your foot, "Excuse me sir, do you know where Misaki and Kirara are? Are they ok?"
He glanced at me, "If you want me to check I'll need their surnames for identification Miss."
You only knew Kirara's surname and so tried to think of any other way to help this guy identify them. In the end you just ended up blurting out what you knew about them, "Kirara's last name is Amano, and they work for the National Space Agency in the research building a block from here."
"Alright Miss, are you a colleague?"
"Yes, I'm an intern there."
"Can I have your name please?"
"Y/n L/n."
"Okay Miss l/n, I'll go and put your name on our record, I also need to grab a few things to safely remove the glass shard," he said standing up, "While I'm there, I'll ask about your friends."
"Thank you," you said and leaned back into the chair, numb to the sounds of chaos and destruction around you. Then it suddenly occurred to you that you hadn't actually thanked Hawks for rescuing you. You turned to where he was standing, but he had already left, flying up into battle to aid Endeavour and the sidekicks.
This made you mentally curse yourself for forgetting to thank him, especially after all the trouble you caused him. To take your mind off it, you looked out to the crowd of injured and/or shaken civilians, hoping to see at least either Kirara or Misaki. Instead, as you looked past a shop window you saw Kashino and another man from work sat on the pavement, both looked a little worn and were littered with minor injuries. This confused you at first since last time you saw them, you and Kirara were passing them in a hallway on your way to the café.
Then the realisation hit you. Sector Orbit's office was close to the building Misaki, Kirara and you were trapped in. It could very well have been one of those you saw absolutely decimated by the Nomu. And if that was the case...what about everyone's jobs? What was going to happen to your internship?

7. Sasuke Uchiha - Protection
Early morning dew clung to the sides of my black shoes, the blades of pine green grass brushing against my exposed toes tickled and the only relief I found in that moment was wiggling them. Trudging alongside me was Naruto, his arms were wrapped behind his head and he was frowning. I could tell he was tired and getting up early was never Naruto’s thing but the Prince that we were protecting was a complete morning person. Standing in front of us was Kakashi Sensei; Sakura and Sasuke were walking on the other side of the large carriage. Morning sunlight started peeking up above the trees creating a small amount of heat against my pale, cool skin. A loud yawn escaped from between Naruto’s lips as we started walking up a steep hill.  “How much further?” Naruto complained, eyes half shut.    “We just started walking, Naruto,” Sakura scolded from behind the Prince’s carriage. “I know!” Naruto yawned again, “but I’m tired.”  A small scoff sounded from Sasuke, and Naruto glared in his direction as if he could see through the carriage. I reached out and touched my blue eyed, knuckleheaded friend while shooting him a small grin. My smile seemed to help Naruto settle down as he continued walking with a smile now on his face. Four hours went by of continuous walking and my feet were starting to get tired, a small aching sensation pounded against the ball of my foot. I whined quietly, not wanting the others to hear, however, Kakashi Sensei’s superior hearing caught it as soon as it fluttered from my lungs.  “Prince Kichi,” he’s deep voice rumbled, “how about we rest and eat something?”  “Sounds like a lovely idea,” Prince Kichi hummed, “pull over.”  Everyone moved off of the path, pulling out their lunch to eat. I watched as Naruto made himself a quick bowl of instant ramen, smiling big as he waited for his noodles to steam up. I pulled out a bento box and started nibbling on some of the rice and other things I had packed, but really I was just enjoying not being on my feet. Lunch continued on for thirty minutes before we were up and stomping through the path once more. However, the happy trip didn’t last very long when my team and I noticed that there was a group of ninjas following us, hiding in the trees and leafy bushes. Naruto looked over at me with slanted eyes, my byakugan was activated and I held up five fingers indicating that there were five ninjas.   The five ninjas moved quickly amongst the green landscape, but I found myself laughing at the fact that they weren’t very good at sneaking around. That’s when my eyes widened as I noticed that another source of chakra flow was coming from beneath Kakashi Sensei. He didn’t seem to notice since he was more focused on the one moving beside him.  “Kakashi Sensei!” I yelled out, making him look at me, “move!”   Just as I warned him to get out of the way, the underground ninja slammed through the ground and latched onto Kakashi Sensei’s foot. He dragged Team 7’s leader into the ground up to his head before standing before all of us. Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto, and I stood between the rogue ninjas, who had joined the ninja who assaulted our Sensei, and Prince Kichi’s carriage. With my byakugan deactivated, I removed my kunai from my ninja pouch, the others following the same movement.  “Why don’t you four children step out of the way,” growled the leader, “we just want the prince.”  “If you want him, you’ll have to go through us,” Sasuke stated, a small smirk dancing across his lips, “now Kakashi, stop messing around.”  Kakashi Sensei bursted into a small amount of smoke and jumped down from a tree in front of us. Sakura squealed, “Kakashi Sensei!” Even though he wore a mask over his mouth, I could almost feel the smile on his face. Kakashi Sensei  looked at Sakura and I.  “Sakura, Akiko, guard the prince.”  “Right!” We said in unison. Naruto and Sasuke ran to join our sensei as the fight raged on. Sakura and I stayed behind guarding the prince as one of the rogues threw their kunai in our direction, his target obviously for the prince’s head as it slammed into the carriage, scraping his cheek. A small cry left Prince Kichi’s lips as he clasped his hand over the slightly bleeding cut. Sasuke turned around.  “Akiko! Behind you!” He yelled. I turned around and saw one of the ninjas charging at me. He started moving his hands to mimic symbols.  “Water Release: Water Cannon.”  His mouth pursed into a small circle as water came rushing out in quick, swift movements from his mouth. Steam hovered over the rocket of water. Sakura gasped, but I had to move quickly. My hands, with the speed of a jonin, created all the symbols needed for my move. The water was inching closer and closer.  “Ninja Arts: Barrier Seal Jutsu!”  Blue chakra from my body wrapped itself around the prince, Sakura, and I just as the gush of water slammed against it, bouncing off. The now hardened chakra protected the three of us from our enemies' attack. I pulled the kunai from the carriage and charged at the male ninja still trying to penetrate my barrier. Unfortunately for him, the chakra barrier was impenetrable. His eyes widened as I ran towards him, his kunai ready in my small hands. “Damn brat!” He hissed angrily. He went to punch me when I jumped up, avoiding his fist just a bit. His eyes widened as I slammed my foot into the back of his head causing him to fall to the ground. I landed on my feet inside the barrier as he climbed to his wobbling feet. I turned to Sakura and held out my hand.  “Give me a paper bomb,” I said, earning a nod from her as she set the paper bomb in my hand.  I attached the slim piece of paper onto the borrowed kunai and smiled.  “Let me give you back your kunai,” I said softly, my delicate hand tossing the cool metal towards our attacker.   Since he was still a bit taken aback from the hit to the head, he didn’t realize that the kunai now had a paper bomb latched to it and as it hit the ground, the bomb went off, causing a massive explosion and a loud scream to echo from his mouth. Sakura cheered. Kakashi Sensei was taking on the leader and another ninja while Naruto and Sasuke were teaming up against a third one. However, one of the rogues was missing and before I could activate my byakugan to see where he was hiding, a metal chain wrapped itself around Sasuke and yanked him around. Sasuke screamed out in pain as he was slammed through two trees and right into a large boulder.  “Sasuke!” Sakura cried out. The young Uchiha was lying against the cold stone and the ninja used that to his advantage. His large, muddy hands rapidly formed a group of symbols together, an evil smile appearing on his face. Sasuke couldn’t move from his restraints. He was also badly injured, making it impossible for him to stand up and move.  “Earth Release: Stone Spear.” Kakashi Sensei wasn’t able to get away from his opponents to rescue Sasuke and Naruto was being held against his opponent’s chest firmly. Sakura was frozen in place and trembling, tears slipping from her widened sea foam green eyes. Her small hand covering her mouth as the spear hurtled it’s way towards our bound teammate.   Making the ultimate decision, I ran from my spot behind the chakra barrier and moved in front of Sasuke. Everything felt slow. Naruto’s screaming for me to get out of the way, the dark chuckling coming from our opponents, Sakura’s screams, Kakashi’s movements as he used his chidori to free himself to come to our aid. But I didn’t waver. My skinny frame slid in front of Sasuke just as the spear slammed into me, piercing my skin through my white long sleeve shirt. It was now lodged into my abdomen and a high-pitched yelp struck the air. As I was crumbling to the ground, Kakashi Sensei used his chidori striking the two ninjas and the one that had used the stone spear. The last ninja released Naruto and scampered off into the woods. My body collapsed to the ground and everything started moving at a normal speed once more. All the air in my lungs was thin, tiny pants were leaving my chapped lips as I tried to catch my breath, metallic blood hugged my tastebuds. I could even feel the blood from my abdomen soaking my white shirt and lavender, overall skirt. Sasuke, who’d freed himself from his confinements, ran over with the rest of team 7. Prince Kichi stood in the distance, still protected by the faltering barrier. Soon it would be gone while I continued to black out.  “Akiko,” Naruto croaked, tears whelming up in his eyes.  Kakashi Sensei had removed the stone spear from my body and pressed his hand strongly against my wound.  “It’s okay, Akiko,” Kakashi said, worry laced in his voice, “you’re going to be okay.”  My eyes fluttered until they were staring at Sasuke, who was staring at me with wide eyes. I coughed, a wheezing sound leaving my lips, and I looked back at Kakashi Sensei.  “K-Ka-Kakashi S-Sensei,” I stuttered. “Shh, shh,” he whispered, “it’ll be okay. I promise.”  “Why?” Sasuke rasped, tears now forming in his eyes, “why would you throw yourself in front of me like that, knowing you’d be killed?”  “Don’t say that!” Yelled Naruto, eyes searing with pain and anger, “she’s not going to die! I won’t let her!” Sasuke didn’t react to Naruto’s outburst. I blinked once, and it was a slow blink.  “B-because if I d-didn’t, you w-would have d-d-died. T-then how would y-you revive your c-clan.”  Pain slashed through my body and I screamed, the pressure from Kakashi Sensei’s hand causing a small ache to erupt. I started seeing stars, my eyes started fluttering as everything became fuzzy, my friends’ voices fading more and more. I watched Kakashi Sensei’s face as he stared at me with desperation. Then everything went black.
Heat. That’s what I felt as my eyes opened. I was greeted by the sight of twinkling stars and the soft crackling of fire. Every inch of my body was aching with terrible shutters of pain. Slowly, and carefully, I started moving again, noticing that a sleeping Naruto was curled up beside me, his cheeks stained with dry tears. I looked around and saw Sakura also sleeping close to the fire, her hands stained with blood. Finally, I looked at myself and noticed that I wasn’t wearing my overall skirt anymore, just my black shorts and white shirt, which was still ruined with crimson, red blood.   Sighing, I pulled myself up from my spot, wincing as pain shot through my like pellets. I whimpered as I turned around, wanting to move and stop the growing ache in my body.  “Akiko.”  I snapped my head up and saw Kakashi Sensei sitting against the tree, wondering how I had missed him when looking at Sakura and Naruto. I also noticed that his uniform was coated in my blood as well.  “Kakashi -” As soon as I started speaking, I started coughing.  He was quick to come to my side, handing me a canteen of water. The nice, soothing water coated my burning throat.  “How are you feeling?” He asked, his revealed eye illuminating concern and worry as he watched me struggle.  “I’m so sore,” I whimpered.   “Maybe you should be laying back down.”  Shaking my head, I noticed that I didn’t see Sasuke sleeping amongst the others.  “Where’s Sasuke?”   Kakashi Sensei pointed to the top of the cliff in the distance where Sasuke was sitting, staring at the night sky. Kakashi Sensei, who had his hand firmly on my back supporting me, gently pushed me in his direction. I smiled a small appreciative smile before realizing that I still needed to thank him for coming to my aid as quickly as he did. I engulfed my sensei into a warm hug.  “Thank you, Kakashi Sensei.”  “Of course, Akiko.”  Sasuke sensed I was coming before I even finished walking towards him, immediately coming to my side as he saw me hobbling towards him. The two of us sat down comfortably underneath the blinking sky. It took me a long time to catch my breath since I was still hurting. I could feel my bandages tightening around my stomach as I sat. Once my breathing was caught up, I turned to Sasuke and smiled.  “You okay?” I asked, realizing how stupid the question it was when I slipped out.  “Me?” He questioned, raising a single eyebrow, “you’re the one who was impaled.” I giggled, shuttering in pain, “guess you’re right. But you did get injured too when you were slammed around.”   Sasuke didn’t reply and worry started seeping through my skull, the feeling of him being angry at me for showing him up made me want to puke. However, Sasuke didn’t seem to care about that when he started speaking again.  “You’re an idiot,” he whispered, “throwing yourself into danger like that. What would Naruto do without you. Or hell, Sakura. What would… what would I do without you?”  His sudden outburst of emotion surprised me. He was never one to become emotional, and I not only felt surprised but happy that he trusted me enough to be this way toward me.  “What do you mean?” I asked.  “Akiko, you’re the only girl who doesn’t run around throwing herself at me to win my affection, my love, my attention. You’re the only girl who looks at me and wants to improve on your ninja skill rather than gawk at me. The only girl I’m willing to talk to and get to know. I never want to see you hurt like that again, especially for me. I want you to stand by Naruto’s side, reach your own goals…”  I stopped his talking by wrapping my arms around him, hugging his sulking form, and resting my weak head against his strong shoulder. His tense body relaxed and he wrapped his arms around me. We sat there for a few minutes enjoying the warmth of one another before I released him. His scent lingered in my nose for a few minutes.  “Sasuke, I care about you. You’re my friend and I couldn’t bear to watch you get hurt. I also couldn’t bear to watch Sakura lose the person she loves the most, even if her girly crush can get a bit annoying. I would do it again, if it meant protecting those I loved and cared about. Even you.”   A small smirk appeared on his face and he pulled me back into his grasp. He eventually pulled me into his lap and rested my head against his chest. I felt a small pink tint rush to my cheeks as I listened to Sasuke’s beating heart. It was slow and steady, the pace slowly relaxing me back to sleep. “Don’t get use to this,” he whispered, “I’m only doing this because I was the reason you got hurt.”  A gentle giggle left my lips. It was a complete lie and I knew it. He even knew.  “And next time, I’ll save you.” He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead, but I didn’t get enough time to react as another wave of sleep hit me. Soon I was snoozing right in Sasuke’s chest listening to the small pitter patter of his heart.

Night fell as Gabriel sat on the floor, his arms and head laying against the couch cushions. He held the butter knife tucked against the side of his arm. Walter was off in the house somewhere rustling around, moving furniture, hammering nails, rattling equipment. He didn’t tell him what he was making, but he knew it was for him, a “surprise” he called it. His spine shivered every time he thought about it, his heart was constantly elevated and pounding in his chest. It never seemed to calm down since the car crash.
He slunk off the couch, sitting next to the hook his leg was shackled to as he wedged the butter knife into the wood gaps. Every time there was a loud banging noise from Walter, Gabriel would use the knife as a lever to slowly pull off splinters of wood, some making an occasional cracking sound.
A big chuck of wood snapped off, flipping in the air as he flinched back. He already had a few splinters in his hand, he would rather not have one in his eye. He pulled at the metal loop, wiggling it around to see if it could come free yet, to his surprise, he felt a faint pop as one side had come loose. He took an excited shuddering breath, unbelieving that it was finally, finally happening.
He desperately jostled it back and forth, as it let out a high-pitch squeaking noise grinding against the wood. He almost got carried away until he noticed Walter’s hammering had stopped.
Silence.
Please don’t come out. Of all the times, please don’t come out now.
He heard him scooting furniture around again as he took a sigh of relief.
He forced the hook back and forth until one side popped off. He gasped when adrenaline shot through his body, his hands trembled uncontrollably as he slipped the chain off it. He jumped to his feet, wrapping the chain around his arm as he kept nervously glancing down the hall.
He tiptoed to the door, looking up at the dozens of locks clamping it closed. He tried to unlatch them as slowly as possible, light clattering kept escaping with every move. This was impossible to do silently, but he was so close. He wanted so badly to just rip all the latches open and run, but there was still time to mess this up.
He froze when he realized the house was silent. Too silent.
“Gabriel?” A voice called.
He jumped out of his skin when he heard his name being called. He whirled around in a panic until he grabbed the first thing closest to him, a tiny almost doll-like chair as he hoisted it over his head, staggering over to the window. It’s now or never...
He slammed the chair into the glass as hard as he could, it shattered and crumbled to the floor in fractures. He heard his name being yelled as he threw himself out the window, shards of glass remaining around the window slicing his arms and legs. He was still barefoot, as the dirt beneath him was cold as ice. The grass wasn’t any better as he ran, ignoring the blood running down his arm, the freezing air chilling his skin, the heavy chain still clamped around his leg and around his arm.
It was dark, he was barely dodging the silhouettes of trees but he could just see the break where the road was where his car had crashed. Sure enough the car was long gone. He climbed the hill about half way till his foot slipped, hitting the ground as the chain fell from his arms. He hesitated, glancing behind him at the chain loosely dragging behind him, but pulled himself back up and kept going.
He gasped when his foot was snagged back, turning around to realize the chain had got caught on a root.
“Gabriel!”
His voice echoed through the woods not far. But he was so close! His heart sunk when the voice called again, getting closer, he could see a faint light in the distance from his lantern. He scrambled and hid behind a tree, back pressed against the rough bark as he gasped for air. He closed his fingers around his mouth to try and quiet his breathing as he trembled. There was no time to go back and unhook it without being seen, his best chance was to stay out of sight until he hopefully passed.
He jolted when he heard leaves crunching behind him. He felt his hands were soaked with something as he held it up. Was that blood? But nothing hurt... He shook the thoughts from his head as the crunching got closer. It stopped just a few feet behind him, as silence fell upon the woods. Nothing could be heard aside from the crickets chattering and the owl hooting.
Gabriel shouted with fear when the chain around his ankle yanked him from behind the tree. He skidded to the ground as Walter continued to drag him all the way down the hill. Walter was muttering and grumbling to himself inaudibly as he worked to pull Gabriel's struggling arms behind him, wrapping the loose chain around his wrists. Gabriel was screaming, crying and whimpering with his face in the dirt. Walter kept him pinned down with his weight until he bent him back off the ground, hoisting him over his shoulder.
“LET ME GO!” Gabriel screamed from his shoulder, pointlessly squirming around. Walter had both arms wrapped around his thighs to keep his legs still as he carried him home, the chain clanging together with every kick. He was dumped onto the floor, slamming the front door shut behind him as Walter stood over him furiously.
“What do you think you’re doing!? Smashing the window, running off like that! How did you even get the hook off?!” He screamed at him.
“Don’t you ever do that again! You me?! Don’t ev-” His voice was cut off as he looked down as his own hands, dripping with blood. “Wha-?” He whispered, turning his hands as with a puzzled look. He glanced down at Gabriel, who was  helplessly collapsed on the ground at his feet, shaking uncontrollably and panting.
“Oh little one...” He gasped, staring at the bleeding man at his feet, blood pooling down his arm with a glass shard poking out.
“What am I going to do with you.” He sighed, shaking his head with a finger and thumb rubbing on the bridge of his nose.
“Y-you could... L-let me go?” He rasped, his voice shivering.
“Oh Gabriel, just look at you! You’re a mess! I took my eyes off you for just a few hours, and this happened! You’re bleeding...” He sighed, dropping to his knees, gently taking his hand in his, turning his arm to assess the damage.
Gabriel let off a whimper, turning his head to hide his face. Walter was silent for a while, before reaching over to take Gabriel's chin to tilt it up.
“Little one, this can never happen again. I can’t have you running off like that at every chance you get and hurting yourself! This is why you stay here, safe, with me.” He said, his voice stern full of concern. Gabriel's lip quivered as he only stared up at him with sad fearful eyes.
“So, as much as I want to say you already got a punishment based on your arms alone, to prevent you from hurting yourself any worse, I’m going to teach you a lesson.” He said, abruptly standing to his feet, grabbing hold of his arm and ripping him to his feet.
“Wha-?” Gabriel squeaked out before he was drug into the basement. His feet fumbling behind him as he was pulled down the stairs.
“Wait... Wait.. Wait, Wait!!” Gabriel yelled, his gut feeling getting worse, and worse the more he realized what was happening. The room was almost pitch black, as he was thrown to the floor, his knees hitting the cold floor. Nothing could be heard but the echoing of his heavy breathing as his arms were tied in front of him to a beam.
“Now my first instinct is to bandage you up and toss you in a bath.” His voice spoke as he fumbled with something. “But since you’ll just a liiiitle bit more bloody, I’d rather do this now.”
“Do what?! What are you doing?” Gabriel cried. He didn’t know why tears were already running down his face. But deep down, he already knew what was going to happen, he just wasn’t ready to admit it. He pressed his face against the beam, sobbing with exhaustion. A small light flickered on above him as he squinted around, Walter was behind him somewhere.
“I want you to repeat back what I say.” He instructed, grabbing Gabriel's shirt to pull it up around his shoulders.
“I-I’m not d-doing anything for you!” He shuttered back, the cold getting to him.
“I want you to say, I will not run.”
“You’re craz-!” His words were cut off with a cry as a belt struck his back. He broke into a sob as his body cringed, slowly slinking further to the floor.
“Say it.” He hissed.
Gabriel was silent for too long as another strike slashed across his back. He cried out as he helplessly twisted his body against the restraints around his wrists.
“One more chance.” His voice growled.
“I WILL NOT RUN!” He cried, his voice cracking. Walter smiled, letting out a satisfied sigh.
“I will behave, and do as I’m told.” He grinned. Gabriel's heart sank, how much more did he want from him? He heard the belt rattle in his hands as he flinched, immediately whimpering “I’ll b-behave and d-d- as I’m t-t-told.” He stuttered.
He let off another flinch when he heard the belt drop to the ground, his back burning and stinging. The man had a strong arm and didn’t hold back, he would give him that.
He cried hysterically as he was taken down from the beam, the man cradling him in his arms, stroking his hair and thumbing the blood from his face.
“Was that so hard now?” He cooed.
“Come on, you’re alright. Let's get you cleaned up and taken care of now.”

"I promise I won’t let you fall.” {Jason Todd x Reader}
Tumblr media
MASTERLIST
REQUEST HERE
Word Count: 3, 304
Hi! I just read "it was all yellow" and just got me hooked to ur tumblr! I'm not sure if the requests are open but if their are could u pls do an angst with fluff ending ab Jason × Reader ft. Drivers license? Thanks for the attention ♡♡
Prompts: 20. “i promise i won’t let you fall.” 101. “leaving you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.” 118. “you’re the only person i want to wake up to every morning.”
“JASON DON’T,” I stepped forward and he moved to pick up his bag. The tears that had welled in my eyes now began to fall. He had his back toward me. But the crack in his voice told me everything I needed to know. “I’m fine!” He stopped and turned back to me. “You had 3 broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a concussion.”
“It wasn’t you fault.”
“We both know that’s not true.”
“The heat signatures showed that most of the guards are on the 4th floor.” Dick’s voice sounded in my ear. “You need to get in through the south entrance on my signal. The shipment arrives in 30 minutes.” I looked at Jason, he was beginning to get impatient. He hated sitting around, and he was not one to follow direct orders. He paced back and forth on the rooftop. “We can just take them all on.”
“Let’s just wait for the signal. We don’t know what we’re up against.”
“They’re just low level fucking criminals.”
Another few minutes passed. “Fuck it.” Jason leaped from the roof and onto the next building. “Jason!” He ignored Dick’s voice and broke one of the windows. I followed after him. The sound of gunshots immediately alerted everyone inside the building. Glass from the windows crunched under my boots, and the air was heavy with gunpowder. The sound of a loud crack echoed in the warehouse. I followed the trail of bodies. There were six men on the floor, each clinging to life. I could tell by the way their limps were sprawled, they were in a world of pain. I ran down the hallway and the gunshots resumed.
I reached for the first hired gun I saw and went after him. His gun was pointed directly at Jason. I reached up and knocked it out of his hands. He was caught of guard, I slammed my hand against his throat. He choked and I brought his leg down out from under him. He fell with a loud thump and I slammed my fist into his face enuring he would be asleep.
Now a few of the men turned towards me. I took my staff and two men charged towards me. I rushed forward and hit one on the side of his head, he tumbled and I kicked him in his shin. He cried out in pain and fell to the floor. The other lunged for me and I moved out of the way before he could grab me. I looked over at Jason for a second, he was getting overwhelmed. Quickly I took the mans arm and slammed it against my knee earning a loud pop. I lunged to Jason. One of the men had managed to get his arms around him. Another was beating him. I took my staff and slammed it on his arm. In that moment Jason slammed his head back against the man who had been holding him. Then he kicked him as he fell. The man turned towards me angrily as the blood trickled down his arm. He pulled out his gun, I moved under him and slammed his hand into the wall. The gun fell and I kicked it away. His other hand reached form my hair. I kicked him in the crotch and he groaned.
I slammed my fists against his face. I looked around the room, Jason was gone. I ran out of the room and up the stairs. We were on the 4th floor now. “There’s a truck coming in.”  I reached Jason and helped him clear the room. “There was C-4 in that truck get out now!”
It all happened in a split second. There was a faint beeping noise. I quickly turned to my left. C-4 was placed on the north wall. Jason was standing right by it. He was too distracted to notice. “Look out!” I ran to him as fast as I could and grabbed his collar. I tossed him outside of the room and took the C-4 and threw it to my right.
The walls began to crumble I tried moving out of the way. I had moved out of the room but the floor was falling underneath me. Jason reached out for me but he was half a second too slow. The last thing I remember was the feeling of falling. Jason’s blood curdling scream filled the room.
I was lucky it wasn’t a lot worse. I didn’t blame him. It had been 3 months and he still couldn’t look at me.“I should’ve waited. I should’ve been paying attention. It should have been me.”
“Don’t say that.”
“It’s true! You could’ve died and that would have been on me.” His voice broke. His guilt was eating him alive. If he had just listened, then this would’ve never happened. Dick didn’t let him hear the end of it.
“Let’s just talk about this. Don’t go.” I moved towards him and he stepped back. “I can’t.” The room fell silent. We both looked at each other. My throat was hoarse, I had been trying to get him to stay as soon as he started packing. He didn’t have anything left to say. “I’m sorry.” I rushed forward and embraced him. As gently as he could he put his arms around me. It had been 3 months since he touched me. He was worried he would break me. But I knew this was he way of saying goodbye. “Please.” He pulled back and wiped the tears from my face. His own eyes were bloodshot. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on my forehead.
He pulled away and took his bag and his helmet. He grabbed the door handle and opened the door. He paused before walking out and closing it behind him.
--------------------------------
Jason practically fell of the grid. No one knew where he went. He was smart, he covered his track electronically. He had slowly been withdrawing his inheritance. Transferring what he could into burner accounts. It was meticulously planned. Another month went by and I went back to train.
It was hard being around the team. For a long time they treated me as if I were glass. I was going to break at a moments notice. I could see the pity in their eyes. I turned to training as an outlet. I focused all of my time and energy into. I didn’t want to be left alone with my thoughts. The memories of Jason and the accident flooded my head. I kept as busy as possible.
Dick had informed he knew where he was. He had found that the crime on the south side had dropped by 5 percent. In his first week down there he acted like himself. He never crossed the line but the scenes were far from innocent. He was acting on his emotions and releasing his anger. But after just a week, he was controlled. The scenes were getting harder to identify. He started to blend in.
Jason’s anger was something like I had never seen before. It was destructive and explosive. He was getting better, but after the accident something changed. He was regressing. Whatever had been holding him together had snapped.
As much as I wanted to, I wasn’t going to go after him. He needed space. As I got inside my car I turned on the radio. I didn’t want to go back to the apartment. It was hard being in that space. I was so used to sharing the space with him. I drove, not looking for anything specific.
And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street
I sighed, being back at the manor had brought back a lot of feelings. Memories of training. Sneaking around the manor. From the moment we met we were inseparable. At first I was annoyed by his cockiness. But once I took him down during training, he turned it down. Overall he was impressed. That later turned into infatuation. We did everything together.
As I drove through the city all I could think of is all the places we went together. None of them would ever feel the same without him.
And all my friends are tired Of hearing how much I miss you, but I kinda feel sorry for them 'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do, yeah Today I drove through the suburbs And pictured I was driving home to you
I wanted more than anything for it all to be a dream. I wanted to wake up and have everything back to the way it was before. I wouldn’t have let him go inside the building. I would give anything to go back and change it all. I would really be there for Jason.
But I've never felt this way for no one, oh And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone I guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street
And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street
I found myself driving to our usual place. We stumbled inside after patrol, and talked for hours. I looked inside and pictured us sitting there. We were laughing so loud we were drawing attention to ourselves. If anyone ever had a problem with it Jason would laugh even louder.
If Jason hadn’t left large tips then I’m sure we would have been kicked out. But in his eyes they deserved it. They were hard workers and they were good people. He tried to give back as much as he could because he couldn’t growing up on the streets. He used to go into the back and try and save food from the garbage. He thought about the nice owners who would let him take a few things. Some even offered him some work. He remembered all those faces, and he gave back. That’s the kind of person he was.
Red lights, stop signs I still see your face in the white cars, front yards Can't drive past the places we used to go to 'Cause I still fuckin' love you, babe (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh) Sidewalks we crossed I still hear your voice in the traffic, we're laughing Over all the noise God, I'm so blue, know we're through But I still fuckin' love you, babe (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
It pained me that it was over but he needed this. He was so angry once he came back. Angry at the joker from taking him from Bruce. Angry at Bruce for letting him get away with it. Angry at the world for letting it happen. For as long as he could remember he needed to fight to survive. It was a long road to even get to where he was now. But he knew that he still had a long way to go. And he couldn’t let anyone else get hurt while he figured it out. He had to start piecing himself back together for his sake, and for everyone around him.
I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone 'Cause you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street Yeah, you said forever, now I drive alone past your street
We had problems. We were far from perfect, but I don’t want anything else. I spent the rest of the car ride in silence. I decided to get back to the apartment. I couldn’t hide forever. I needed to start living again. It’s what he wanted.
--------------------------------
I turned the key and the door clicked in response. I heard shuffling on the other side. Immediately I reached for my staff. I opened the door, the lights were still off. I moved quietly, as I tried to search for the source. Quietly I closed the door, and moved through the apartment. I noticed a card on the coffee table. I heard a creek. I turned down the hall. I waited for a moment and I heard the footsteps approaching me. Right when they were about to round the corner, I pushed them against the wall. Holding them in place with my staff.
I looked up and dropped the staff. “Jason?” He looked shocked, more so than I was. “I had to see you.” I bit my lip. I was feeling overwhelmed. He was the last person I expected. I worked hard to put myself back together and now I was going to have to do it all over again.
“Are you coming back?”
I was getting mixed signals. The card on the table gave me the impression he was leaving again. It was like he intended to just drop it off and leave. But he stayed until I got back. He was tense. His arms were crossed over his chest, overall he looked very closed off. He wasn't giving me an answer.
I broke the silence.
"I can't do that again. You can't leave and come back, and except me to be okay.” I swallowed, trying to keep my tears from spilling. “I begged you to stay and you just left. I haven't heard from you and now you're back and I don't know how much more I can hang on." Once again the tears welled up in my eyes. I was reliving the moment he decided to leave all over again. Deep down I know why he left. He needed to learn to forgive himself. He needed time to work on himself. But it was hard knowing that he could leave at a moments notice. Even though it hurt him he still did it.
"I'm sorry. I had to go, I couldn't look at you without blaming myself. It was selfish of me to leave but I understand that now." He moved forward and took a deep breath. "I promise I won't let you fall."
And he meant it.
His own eyes were cloudy with tears. " I tried to convince myself that you were better off without me. But I can't do this without you. That month I spent alone made me realize how empty I was without you. You're the only person I want to wake up to every morning."
"But if you decide that you don't want me-" I didn't let him finish before I pressed my lips against his. He responded immediately. We pulled away and he ran his thumb across my cheek. I wrapped my arms around him. I could feel him loosen up. He had been so tense, it felt as if he could finally breathe again.
"Come on, I have something to show you." He pulled away and stretched out his hand. I took it and he opened the door and led me out. We walked to his bike and he handed me my helmet. He got on his bike and started the engine. I got on and wrapped my arms around him "Ready?"
I nodded and he took off. The sun was just beginning to set. Although Gotham wasn't the safest city, it was mesmerizing. I leaned my head against Jason and watched the streets. The streets that had seemed somber were now vibrant. Jason stopped at the red light and turned back to me. I gave him a smile.
We went on for another 5 minutes. "Okay close your eyes."
I closed my eyes and we stopped soon after. Jason turned off the bike and helped me off. He gently took of my helmet and took my arm. He guided me, and I heard a door open. We had entered some building.  "Can I open my eyes now?" I asked, growing more curious at time went on. He laughed at my impatience.
"Yes."
I opened my eyes and looked around. It was the Gotham botanical gardens. "This is beautiful." We walked down the pathway and I took in my surroundings. The bright yellow flowers, the beautiful stream leading to the fountain. As I looked around something stuck out to me. There was a lack of people. There must've been one person who opened the door for Jason and I. But I didn't see anyone. "Where is everyone?" I turned to Jason and he smiled. "I may have rented the space for the night."
"Jason this must be a fortune." It was government property, he had to get approval from the mayor himself. "How?"
"Believe it or not but the mayor actually owed me a favor."
We reached the center of the garden. There was a table that had been set up. Jason pulled my chair out for me. Suddenly a workers had appeared. They set the table and the lights were dimmed. As quickly as they appeared they were gone. The table was filled with our favorites. The drinks were from a cafe just near the apartment. The food was from our usual spot after patrols. There were small delicacies from the pastry shop we frequented to satisfy our sweet tooth. "This is really something, Jason. Thank you."
"I'm keeping my promise. Leaving you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do." I won't ever do it again."
We talked as we finished dinner.  It felt like just another day before the accident. After we finished, Jason left a large tip on the table. "I have one more thing to show you."
"Jason you really don't have to do anything else. You've done more than enough." Still, he lead me up the stairs. He opened the door first and let me go up. I walked to the edge of the roof. I looked over the railing. The view was absolutely breath taking. It wasn't like any other rooftop in Gotham. It was quiet up here. The sounds of the city didn't touch this roof.
The wind had picked up, and since the sun had set it was colder than inside. Noticing this Jason put his jacket over my shoulders. He stood behind me and I leaned my head against his shoulder. "I didn't know views like this existed in Gotham."
We just stood admiring the city. Neither of us spoke as we looked at the beautiful sight. We both knew that everything was going to be alright. We were going to come back from everything. This is what it was supposed to feel like.
"Are you ready to go back?" He asked and I nodded. "Just one more thing." I leaned forward and kissed him. This one was soft. He smiled into the kiss. "We've got some catching up to do." He mumbled against my lips. "The night's not over yet."
