Christmas with Dad!Nanami

was gonna wait to post this but i said 'ah, wth, why not 🤷🏾‍♀️'

Had never hated Christmas or particularly favorited it... until you have your kid. Something about seeing their little face sparkle at the lights and sight of snow, whether real or fake, really gets to him.

Kento's not the biggest fan of the traditional family Christmas cards. He prefers to keep sentimental, off guard photos you captured to yourselves and maybe share with close family/friends. He has a picture he secretly took of you and your little one decorating the house. You were entertaining your child's theory about how the elves make sure pets behave too.

Definitely, lets your kid sit on his shoulders so they can put the star at the top of the tree. One year, your little one abandons all the previous steps and tugs on Kento's shirt begging him to let them go ahead and put the star up. Kento tries to explain that it's for last but he can't tell them no. When you come back to a tree with a star and three ornaments, he looks at you guiltily.

For someone who preaches about not spoiling your child, he does it every single year without fail. But it's in the most wholesome of ways. He'll stay up with them to wait for Santa, only to end up falling asleep right after they do. Of course, he bites the cookie first to leave proof Santa was there. One day he actually forgets and you manage to catch it as your kid walks into the kitchen so you take the biggest chomp and try to look innocent.

"SANTA CAME!" your little one bounced up and down then pointed at the plate. Kento's eyes went wide at the realization. He glanced up at you and you gave him a small nod as you chewed quietly.

His favorite part isn't the gifts sicne he picked those out months ago, but it's baking with your little one. He loves to break out the aprons along with the step stool so they can help him out.

In terms of gifts, he makes sure to buy practical things that'll last and won't end up stuffed in the closet somewhere. Your kid is appreciative nonetheless and always says "thank you" and gives you two the biggest hug.

"I got you something too." they hand you both an oddly shaped bundle of wrapping paper. You exchange a quick glance with your husband before unwrapping it.

"What is it, lovey?"

A giggle filled the room "Just open it, silly!"

Kento's eyes went wide as he held a seashell in his hand. You chuckled as you looked at buttons on a string.

"Is it a bracelet?"

Your child nodded and rambled about how they found the buttons under the couch then pieced it together with some string. "Lemme do it," little fingers tied the yarn around your wrist.

Kento watched with joy then turned the seashell over in his hand. "Little one, where did you find this?"

"It's from Santa!"

He wished he didn't entertain the childhood myth then but he simply he listened to them explain the odd gift.

"I got it so when you," they wiped their face which was flushed with excitement " when you're working and sad, you go like this" they pretended to hold something up to their ear then made a relaxed facial expression.

Kento smiled softly as tears stung the corners of his eyes. Your child noticed his face and frowned slightly "Do you like it?"

He hugged them "I love it, thank you." he could've burst when he felt those little arms clasp around his neck and the small "You're welcome, papa" that followed after.

Author's Note: This would truly become his favorite holiday. I can see your kid getting excited for Christmas right after Thanksgiving and Kento being a bit restless from all the festivites but also excited. I think having a child would remind him of all the youth he experienced that was buried underneath the ugliness of his adulthood. It would soften. Domesticity would remind him of who he wanted to be, even if you two don't have children.

Can you imagine everyone in the suitcase getting together to prepare the Foundation Kids’ first Christmas 🥹🥹🥹

The gift exchanging and the cuteness would be the most wholesome thing! Little Santa hats for all! Honestly this became a long list of HCs and not all of them are related to Christmas. It'll be Crew member and Vertin interactions because it'd be a lot to do it both ways for every single character. My ears are open for anyone who wants to share their HCs!

Regulus (actually Apple) gives a Vertin a set of high quality paint brushes. She also gives her also a weird rotund plushy with this face

This is the real one Regulus picked but she and Apple work as a pair. She says it's face reminded her of Vertin. Vertin will keep this new friend among her growing collection of oddities from her crew members. She keeps everything they give her, even if it's just a pretty marble.

Joshua gives her a DIY woodworking book and then brings up his bookshelf being broken (hidden agenda!) At first the others are like "wth?" but Vertin seems to love it. You know the little game pieces we see throughout the game to represent the characters? Vertin makes something similar with her new skill and they use them when developing strategies. Jessica and Sonetto like to help her paint them. Druvis gives her tips (since she's a wandmaker she has more experience). Also, Vertin does fix his shelf eventually and made a few adjustments so it won't break again.

I see Vertin as the type who can figure out those God awful assembly instructions with 70 different letters and numbers labeling everything. For tech stuff, Regulus and Joshua have them covered. They try not to ask X if they can help it because despite being a genuis he always adds an unnecessary feature. No I don't need my camera have a "brew coffee" function!

None of the "fix-it" people above can put together a proper meal though.

Madam Z is invited but couldn't make it (Constantine at it again). She sends Vertin a very elegant coat with a water proof enchantment to keep her both warm and dry. She she noticed Vertin's grown a bit taller and she'll most likely need a new coat.

Tooth Fairy also couldn't make it (helping Madam Z so she can get leave the office sooner and they can celebrate with wine). She sends Vertin a jar of candies and a finely crafted pocket knife. Why a pocket knife? No one knows for sure. Despite no one getting it at first, whenever they have a package they can't open, a freshly picked fruit from the garden, etc. they ask Vertin if she has her knife. Of course she does. She's Suitcase Dad lol. Tooth Fairy was predicting the future.

Sotheby will give her candies that are actually healing potions! It's one of her newest creations! They're more convenient than carrying potion bottles. There are a few...side effects but nothing too major. Vertin is extremely grateful for this and carries a few in her pocket at all times in case someone gets hurt. This usually ends up being herself (in combat) or Sotheby tripping and scraping her knees, palm, etc. She'll hesitate to take the candy herself (because what if someone else needs it later?), even when she's barely standing but heaven forbid one of her people gets a boo-boo or a bruise. It's frustrating as it is endearing.

Sonetto gives her a tin of her favorite brand of tea and a thermal blanket. Vertin's the type of person with a cooler body temperature. In winter, her hands are freezing! This worries Pupnetto even though the Foundation trains them to endure cold temperatures. However, most of the other members end up snuggling in the heated blanket, including Sonetto herself (she is slowly unlearning the Foundation's way of suffering pointlessly) but she will share it with Vertin when she does. Vertin doesn’t mind. Honestly, Sonetto is hot blooded (the opposite of her) so having her nearby makes it warmer anyway.

And Sonetto's always at her side. She doesn't worry about the cold.

Druvis gives Vertin a wand with her arcanum built into it. It's shaped like a pistol, similar to Schneider's but it's nonlethal. The "bullets" are infused with the slime from Druvis's thorns and can hinder enemy movements (inflict petrify status). This way she can "protect" Vertin even if they're apart. With more eyes on the Suitcase than ever, she believes Vertin needs to take extra precautions. Vertin takes very good care of the gun (though she's never had to use it in real combat yet) and when they do co-op missions with other departments it garners a lot of attention from the soldiers.

Druvis is not accepting requests at this time.

Blonney gives her an ugly Christmas sweater but her gag gift backfires when Vertin looks cute. Stupid yes, but cute. Also the fabric is very soft and Vertin seems very cozy inside.

Later, Blonney gives her the real gift. She was too shy to give it to her in front of the others but there's a hand written card thanking her everything she's done for her and Jessica. There's money in the card of course. Jen also gives her a little short story she wrote. Not a horror one, but a sweet one about a curious kitten going on misadventures and making friends. Vertin can immediately tell its based on the shenanigans she gets into with her crew members. Blonney doesn't stick around long (blushing too hard) but Vertin is moved by this. The crew members are represented by their Udimos!

Jessica gives Vertin a doll (think chibi) she made that looks like the Timekeeper and it has removable accessories. For Christmas, the chibi Vertin is wearing a Santa suit. Sometimes the doll goes missing from her shelf if she's gone for more than a day (work relates reasons). 98% of the time it's with Sonetto who crumbles like a guilty puppy if Vertin asks about its whereabouts. The separation anxiety is real. Vertin recognizes this and eventually says it looks happier in Sonetto's room. She asks Sonetto to please take good care of her (the doll). Vertin also makes more effort to "call" home or send a message with arcanum tech after this event.

She's not used to having people wait for her at home, but one day in the near future she will be.

Hey KO. So guess what? Someone asked PD when will they give us the nightfall book club questions and guess what they replied. " Well no one reads them, you are the only one who asked, I will see what I can do". No one reads them? Seriously no one reads them. Then who am I? A potato? I am so done with PD do they even know their fandom? And I think 😭 now that someone mentioned the questions,they will ruin it. And I agree with your take in the last ask that PD do love Alex, Rika and Damon the most. Even in their FB group if someone says even a teeny tiny thing about them, the admin kicks that person out and behaves as if we insulted the God Almighty.

Seriously there is no criticism for Alex , rika and damon at all BUT it's full of Emory hate and banks hates. Like why the bias?? 😨 and then they say "Emory is my favorite", should I tell them what favorite means? Maybe they are confused.

Also I found something too, on the day nightfall was released there was obviously people were super mad in the group and guess what the admin posts in the group????

The admin posted 2 things , that were-

1. Does Emory deserves Will?

2. Alex is a goat, everyone agrees.

I mean wth??? You are the admin and you are biased too. If someone asks PD about Alex Rika Or Damon they answer EVERYTIME! But never when it's about Banks. What do they have against my girl banks?

All I want is 1 willemmy present scene to know how they are doing but I am never getting that now do i. Because they just can't write them happy and being the focus of story.

You know why PD wrote the bonus material in the past? Because we all hate Alex and we are so done with her pick me personality amd no one would buy the book and take a risk because we all know Alex. If there was Alex acting all entitled to will even in the present after 10 and will not doing anything everyone would hate Alex even more and Will to then want Emory to leave him. And that would be another bonus to write.

The fb group sounds to me to be a bit of an echo chamber, so I don’t expect anything else. I’m confused about a mod/admin letting an echo chamber develop, since it seems to me that preventing that would be a priority, but that’s not for me to figure out. Strong side-eye though. It’s sus. It just is.

Giving everyone a chance to respectfully voice their opinions so an echo chamber doesn’t develop on my end is why I let people say what they will, even if I disagree.

But sometimes fandom is just finding the place where you have a few cool buddies that you share generally the same thoughts or at least can co-exist with your differences. That’s the happy place.

No, you’re fine! I get it. This whole scenario is very frustrating, especially as it gets harder to tolerate the favoritism with any grace. It’s a lot. I’m not at all interested in where the fb group goes from here. I’ve never heard anything good coming from the fb group for Nik’s and Emory’s fans. If I ever hear of them denying the favoritism on their end, I’ll lose my mind.

I admit I’m biased! You can too!

But you have to admit…it’s different coming from a reader rather than the author.

I still think the past scene was not to avoid Alex, but just to finish the series with where it started: with the horsemen (and Rika, the only girl who got dialogue in the bonus chapters. even though Emory and Banks were there, they didn't say anything did they?). The series was always focused on their friendship in one way or another, so it makes sense from a writer’s perspective to go back to when it all began. But that’s just my feelings.

Why I Love Them ❤

Gakushuu:

He's a complex character, what else can I say? It's so interesting to explore his relationship with other characters, be it the B5, his dad, or the E Class; Gakushuu offers so much potential.

Seo:

My second favorite Virtuoso! Seo's appeal for me largely comes from his most unappealing quality, which is his personality. Sure, he's an ass, but I admire how blunt and rude he is. He always gets me thinking of the question "Would you rather speak your mind or never speak again?"

Now, we know which option Seo would pick, and honestly, I would too were it not for the real life consequences that comes with it. Even when you speak your mind in a respectful way, some will still hate you and call you all kimds of names. Seo isn't exempt from this as he makes others uncomfortable, which is what makes him all the more intriguing for me. I'm not saying it's not deserved, but I sympathize with him for being insecure. (See all my other B5 and Seo-related posts for more details)

Basically, I love exploring Seo's psyche and unmasking the insecure soul beneath the arrogent facade; and the more I look into him, the more I wonder if you'd really rather speak your mind or forever stay silent, and just how far are you willing to go with your words?

Ren:

Just like with Seo, I'm interested in Ren's personality. I firmly believe he's a lot more than just another philanderer in the series. He's very calm, even under unpleasant situations. Even with their humiliating defeat against E Class, Ren still maintained his smile and composure. He's a good friend, not just to Gakushuu, but even to the rest of the B5. Shame his dynamic with them was never explored.

I have mixed feelings on his womanizing habits. I definetely don't like how pushy and touchy he is with girls (see episode 15), but boy, does that make him a fearsome opponent. He's like Irina's long lost desciple for crying out loud! This boy even suduced a middle-aged woman in the manga, WTH?!! I like the idea of Ren seducing girls for his friends' benefits (mainly Gakushuu) rather than solely for his own entertainment. I just love the idea of Ren helping his friends in the most questionable (downright terrible) method. Do you not see the depth this gives him? I love my morally gray Ren 🥰

Araki:

Honestly, it's his design, from the green hair and gold eyes combo, to his round face, to his freaking glasses! Araki. Is. Adorable!

Then there's his character; I was surprised to learn from the character book that Araki's actually a nice guy unless you're someone beneath him. We mostly saw the asshole side, which makes sense given how AC is E Class's story. Still, I like this two-faced aspect, makes you realize that even the nicest souls have skeletons in their closet.

Koyama:

His design, mostly....Koyama is the embodiment of "So ugly it's cute" (No offence, Koyama 😅) I just love how he's so tiny compared to the others (mainly because he's always slouching) it's cute and lowkey funny. Then there's that goddam shit-eating grin of his, and we can't forget about his gremlin laugh.

And now, thanks to Koro Q, I now see him as a diehard fantasy nerd and it's really wholesome.

The Big Five:

As a group, there's so much potential dynamic left to explore. Ren as the cool and calm party guy, Seo as the (blunt) voice of reasons, Araki as the second-in-command, and so much more! You can pair up two random Virtuosos and make up the most intriguing, maybe senseless dynamic ever.

But above all, it's the found family aspect that makes these idiots so lovable. It's admirable how the B5 remained loyal to their leader despite his worrisome obsession with crushing E Class, not out of fear, but because they genuinely love him. Ren can speak with him as equals, Koyama is grateful for the ego boost, and Seo hated seeing Gakushuu constantly lose. Gakushuu thought he was collecting minons, but he accidentally created his very own adoptive family. Now he has to live with the consequences of his actions-- Four of them to be exact!

Hiya! Sharky here! okay, so, many things have happened in my week - first than anything, I realised my lack of social abilities is not as bad when I am chatting with someone through social media (clearly), and luckily, that also includes gym girl! but enough of calling her gym girl. Her name is Charlie! well, it's actually Charlotte, but that's her nickname!! I could tell you my name but I actually like the nickname sharky because I love sharks, besides I need to keep the mystery!

I took Charlie to an aquarium! We got food first (never have I felt so guilty for eating sushi lol) and then we had lunch there! Then I took her to get icecreams at a reaaallyy good place that my grandma used to take me to! she got chocolate with cookie dough and I chose mint with vanilla! It was already afternoon and of course we went to the beach since it was near to see the sunset! I walked her home and then went to my place JAKWEK now, I tried to reduce all what happened as much as possible bUT ADJAJDAW LETS DELVE INTO DETAIL

First, I adored it. Every second of it. I don't remember having such a good time in a long, long time. You were so, so right about going out and talking and getting to know eachother. Honestly, it made my day, my week, possibly my month and semester. I still struggle to talk a bit sometimes cause I get nervous but it's a good nervous! She said that it doesn't bother her though. We talked tons too. I mean, she did most of the talking, but not because I didn't talk. I simply loved to listen, you know? She's completely american, has a mom and two dads (they're gay and super close with the mom apparently so I'm so genuinely happy that they all get along. She said really good things about them too and honestly, it made me just.. I don't know. Kind of at peace to know that she has a good family?), she doesn't have a favorite food but she said her comfort food is pizza and pho and I was so happy because FINALLY someone who appreciates soup and broths. She loves horror movies and SHE ALSO LIKES SCREAM. I can proudly claim that I have discovered she is a Jenna Ortega fan. She has a dog nAMED COCO. I am completely bewildered by the fact that it made me fall even MORE. AJKOAEH COCOCOCOOCOCO IT'S SO CUTE. And she's 24! Also, she wants to be a lawyer? I don't know why but that's kinda... And when she asked things about me, I actually wanted to share! which wth because I don't usually open up to talk much about me, you know? And in the aquarium I RAMBLED. the cast changed a little but i saw stanley kassa as simba again (understudy), simon gallant played ed this time (saw him as zazu last time and he was crazy proud of himself at stagedoor, as he should he was awesome), & a new nala actress (paola fareri), new timon (romain apelbaum), & other kid simba & nala

my seat was ! much closer to the stage than expected it felt like i was IN the stage, but it's still not bad at all even for a restricted view seat !!!

during the circle of life, this time, there were no technical difficulties with the elephant so i got to see it ! i thought it was going to hit me with its tusk lol, & i saw zazu run so i was so happy

Least favorite thing: Disregard for Ruddiger. Experimenting on him for SotS. I mean, he was literally a pest in WTH. And where is he in RR? This is an animal so loyal he went to prison with Varian. He did Ruddiger dirty.

Favorite line: It's in S3 ep1, when they fight the Saporians on the airship. Right after he dissolves Andrew's sword, off screen he goes "heh!" That is my favorite line. He continues with "not bad for an alchemist, eh?" He's so annoying and I love it.

OTP: No one from canon. But I'm such a Varigo nut. I love their (theoretical) dynamic, though I do think Varian would be more obnoxious and also put Hugo in his place more than I see most writers portray. I feel like sass-master Varian gets overshadowed by soft-boi Varian in most fics I see with them.

nOTP: anyone from canon, but I'm not vehemently against any of it. The one that is the worst to me is Varipunzel, but that is because I see them as having a sibling dynamic, and I have siblings so it just 🤢... I've seen some cute art and even read a couple of good fics, though. Talented artists are talented, even if I don't ship the pairing.

Headcanon: Varian got Xavier's help in deciphering the scroll. (Most of my favorite headcanons from tts involve Xavier). He knows the history, the legends, where the Demanitus Device was and how to get to it. Varian figured out that scroll so quickly, you can't tell me he didn't get help.

Unpopular opinion: Varian deserved more of a struggle for his redemption arc. Don't get me wrong, Frederick is the worst for how he imprisoned Varian and didn't get the kid help like he said he would. But he built an army of weapons and attempted regicide (or at least threatened it). He was a terrorist. Prison was well warranted. Generous, even. But when he helped in BVA, it was like everyone was just immediately cool with him. He got off easy.

Song: I have a few, but Unstable by Chaotica is pretty fun for something heavier (more S1 and early S3 boi). Or My Name Is.. by Once Monsters for something lighter (more from S1 through Vat7K vibe).

this is kinda funny, but their coach purposely put the water refills outside on top of a small hill under the big tree (kinda reminds me of the one in the training camp arc)

So, when they need to refill, they have to jog up the hill to get some water and they've complained about it ever since

It's not that high but with them being tired after the practice they did, it sure does felt like an eternity getting up there

Sometimes Hoshiumi and Gao races on who could get there faster while the rest are slumped while walking up

But don't worry, when they finally get there, the wind is enough to cool them back down

And now, it became their resting place after practice (no matter how many times they've complained about going up hill to even rest there)

One time they broke it

They broke the water refill, and had to fix it back up before their coach sees the mess and try to figure an excuse on why there's no water left inside and there's a crack on it

Bessho and Tokura are basically best friends but it's more one sided

Tokura lowkey highkey hates Bessho and no one knows why exactly

Maybe it's their 1st years problem or something but Tokura's just like that with Bessho and Bessho couldn't seem more concerned about the hate he's receiving

He's just fine with it wth (they're one sided frenemies in conclusion)

Kanbayashi's good at cooking and you cannot change my mind

Sometimes he makes some treats for his teammates, going to their classes during lunch hour and giving them each small boxes of the food

Hoshiumi doesn't really look like a person who has a schedule but he actually does, but for fridays only

Gao too sometimes annoy Tokura because it makes Bessho feel better and he might join the annoying process

Speaking of Tokura (what, is Tokura my fav kamomedai character now? Maybe) other than Suwa, he have high respect for Hirugami and view him as a big brother figure

I think Tokura is an only child so that's why he looks up to Hirugami and you know what, Hirugami also see him as a little brother

It's a very comforting scene to see when they're being platonically affectionate with each other

Whether it's about talking about their practice to basic questions like "have you eaten yet?" "I hope you're doing fine" and so on

Ngl Johnny and Taemin ships them almost as much as half of the fandom, but because they're not that obvious with their skinship they don't push it that much. They're more like longing stares and a lot of smiles when the other is talking, more in the admiring side.

Favourite one? I don’t think I have one. I always like something about it, but there’s always something I’m a bit meh about… 

Tenchijin is good if you like strong lord/retainer relationship and 5yo Yoroku is the cutest thing ever. Mitsunari is played by Oguri Shun. Masamune and Kanetsugu’s relationship is interesting. But the selling point is the relationship between Naoe and Kagekatsu imho. Kanetsugu cries a lot and Mitsunari’s fake tears are the best! I can’t say this drama is good, but it’s definitely my guilty pleasure. The first episode is one hour and half long story about their childhood

Gunshi Kanbee was good. Mitsunari went painfully evil at the end, but the taiga drama as a whole was good. I loved Hanbee in it, Kanbee’s retainers were fun and Hideyoshi was very sympathetic before Nobunaga died. (Everything was so good before Nobunaga died hahaha) But even then Gunshi Kanbee’s Hideoyshi is kind of “the” Hideyoshi. (Back in the old days when there was a taiga drama with Hideyoshi as MC, I think based on Yoshikawa Eiji’s Taiko? he was played by the same actor - Takenaka Naoto.) When someone asks me about “live action” Hideyoshi, this one will appear in my mind. 

Sanadamaru - I didn’t like the main actor, Nobuyuki was boring (and there was no relationship between Nobuyuki and Mitsunari wth), Masayuki was somewhat interesting (but the treatment of female characters was…). It shows a completely different view on Kagekatsu and Naoe and I LOVE it. They’re pretty much my ideal Uesugi. Mitsunari and Yoshitsugu are spending 80% of their time in a library… oh, also this drama is told from Nobushige/Yukimura’s POV, so he’s there all the time. The other dramas are different. 

Also the first fourth of Ii Naotora’s drama was good. I was watching it when I was in Japan, but then I got busy, so I’ve only seen like 15 episodes, but they were good. It had a useless Ieyasu :D I should pick it up to see how he actually became a functional human being.. if he did...
