Need people to start following this advice more. Stop spreading garbage everywhere. You do not need to share the shitty take. You do not need to share the newest stupid thing the idiot right winger did.
Algorithms are already trying to stoke us into seeing opinions that piss us off. Right winger trolls count on us sharing their shit around to trend and expose people to their shitty opinions.
Don't do their job for them. Don't touch the poop, and especially don't throw poop on the walls and ask your friends to watch it.
(This doesn't apply to things like Palestine btw. The difference there is that awareness of what's going on is important. Meanwhile, [redacted]'s new [redacted] is not something anyone needs to see. The more you talk about it, the bigger of a thing it becomes.)

So at this point it feels a bit like beating up a dead horse, but this whole situation is still so wild to me, and I wanted to write down some main things
In no particular order (written with text-to-speech because I typed too much during the holidays and hurt my shoulder and wrist… thumbs up emoji):
Dream had nothing to do with the original argument! He just inserted himself and then complained about people attacking him and ccs being “against him” like he wasn't the one who decided to come out of nowhere and say that
Dream saw Tommy beefing with Trump supporters and went Oh no I need to help and then sided with the Trump supporters 🫠
Dream’s dig wasn't even at Tommy himself but at his followers which makes even less sense
Specifically, at the old DSMP fans who still watch Tommy… Like, that used to be your audience! We joke about dream taking credit for everything but those are actually the people who made your career!
Dream thinks that reclaiming a slur means still using it as an insult 💀. “I'm autistic so I get to call 15 million people mentally deficient for the lolz and if people protest, well that's just Twitter being Twitter”
calling Tommy’s audience “the worst of the worst” when his own fanbase is notorious for harassing and doxing people
the entire Reddit post, actually. He's done this a dozen times by now and he still hasn't learned to shut up! Stop digging yourself a bigger hole
Acting all annoyed and asking what the “rule” is… The rule is don't call people slurs 😭
saying Tommy “lies about him constantly.” I don't even know what he could be referring to here. vague on purpose
“slur slinging slasher” why are we doing alliterations
Calling Tommy the Internet police for making fun of a Trump supporter
“Hopefully I can be forgiven” and he hasn't apologized once
Of all the things he's done I can't believe this is the one he's doubling down on. This almost feel like ragebait
I probably won't answer comments because, again… Ouch

i can't believe today i woke up to several feminists (thankfully none of them im close to) reblogging incely/ragebait rant from a blog called "feminismisstillahatemovement" about how the professional actress with an almost lifelong career in Hollywood Sabrina Carpenter does not deserve the sacred role of a Disney Princess in another shitty cashgrab remake by Cashgrab Inc that is Disney because..... her music is bad. because everything aimed at young white woman is bad and brainrot and if you don't turn off Taylor the moment she comes on the radio you're a lost cause
i think you guys just hate women actually

At some point I wonder if people who respond to obvious ragebait are willfully dumb. Did we forget the whole "Don't feed the troll" commandment they feed everyone the moment they hop on the internet or do they just like getting themselves riled up and angry like "Oh my god. I can't believe you said ten slurs in a row and wished death upon a minority group before calling someone fat. You cant do that" are you for real right now do you think arguing with this person is going to do anything.
This is a sickness I often see on twitter that makes me unfollow people because they'd be replying to inflammatory shit acting all surprised that someone would post that and clogging my feed with innane comments. It's also pervasive in the notes of tumblr posts which is even funnier to me because you'd see people with more sense going "guys please stop feeding the troll" get ignored

Comments of a few moids under the video of a woman talking about comfort women. Protectors my ass.
I know many of them are ragebaiting or whatever but I believe there's truth behind their statements. I can't even think of making fun of a tragedy like the comfort women, even if they were men.

i just read that aita submission and everything about it, especially the asker's reblog additions, make it so obviously transmisogynist ragebait that i genuinely can't believe so many people appear to be taking it fully at face-value. i know people are insanely quick to just believe a hypothetical trans woman is whatever flavor of scary sexual abuser you can imagine, but come on. put on your thinking caps for a minute.
I have bad news to tell you about how willingly the average person, lgbt or not, will drop all higher thought and just stop putting in even a modicum of effort when they realize (subconsciously or not) that the topics on trans women. like it really isnt hard to see… they just don’t care enough to add 1+1. it’s a learned ignorance and they’re happy to stay in their bias

Infohazards and Cults
I had a conversation recently about exposing people to cult beliefs in any form. In particular, is it risky to tell someone about a cult if that may lead to them looking up the cult and its writings, become convinced by them, and join the cult.
I wanted to organize my thoughts on the matter more because I both believe a) free speech norms are broadly correct in that they produce consistent benefits, and the negatives of them don't have as much downside as opponents think they do, and b) I do think some speech just has mechanistic effectiveness at luring people, and should be banned in as much as society can. Which is to say "99% of the time free speech is the right answer, and that 1% of the time it's more about how the speech is delivered, than its substantive content."
For example, the Securities and Exchanges Commission bans just going out and telling people "give me your money and I'll get you 100% returns in a year, no risk" - unless that claim is verified (accountants and audits) and accountable (you can be sued if the claim doesn't come true.)
Why do they do this? In the marketplace of ideas for Homo rationalus" some people would get fooled, lose their money, but then everyone else would learn not to trust shady investors without a solid reputation.
Except we know from empirical experience, this doesn't happen. No what happens is a lot of people who cannot afford to lose money, give all their money away, and go bankrupt. This hits so many people that most cautious people become afraid to invest at all, and the productive part of the investing economy withers away and dies. This is broadly considered a bad thing.
So, despite worshipping the "marketplace of ideas", the SEC bans you from saying things like that. The exceptions are either: you prove your projects and a lot of other things about your sale by registering with the SEC, or an "accredited investor can invest, on their own risk, because they aren't going to lose ALL their money."
So, cults.
I find the way cults recruit people to be one of these hacks. It doesn't matter what the substance is, or if there are convincing arguments against it - the ways cult recruit sufficiently exploit our brains that I do not think it should be legal.
We all know the "hard", later stage methods. Sleep deprivation. Heavy physical activity followed by exhaustion. Repeating certain things over and over and over and over again. Rationally speaking, the fact that someone said a monotonous line to you a hundred times should not make you more likely to believe it, but unfortunately, actually it does. A central dictatorial leader with power over every aspect of your life. And the old favorite, cutting off the person from anyone outside the group.
But I oppose even the "soft", outreach methods. Love-bombing. Convincing someone you understand them in a way no one else ever has. Introducing someone to a totalizing ideology they consume like a fiend. Even "someone just being so charismatic that they overwhelm your defenses, and then they try to sell you something."
Now, obviously we can't outlaw the individual techniques I just listed. On their own they are some very common behaviors unrelated to cults. But together or in the context of a cult, they should be illegal (this is a fuzzy distinction, but we can understand that "lying is generally legal, but in the specific cases of raising money it is illegal" and treat this the same way.
So I don't really worry about the spread of the mere information, such as a cult's writings. People may have some bad experiences from having read a website -> waking up in a group house at the feet of Dear Leader while the blockade is being set up outside, but I don't find that a consistent result, the same way personal indoctrination is.
Other things I have similar concerns about: gambling, su*c*de coverage, contagion events like described here , and at the very edge, ragebait. I don't have good ideas HOW to effectively ban these, but if I did I would want to enact that without worries about my normal support of free speech norms*. *[To be clear, there are many things that can be legal but rude to say, like I call people how they want to be called, and lose respect for people who don't. But I do not think "even if we talk about this subject I disagree with (fascism, HBD, lab origination, sexual degeneracy, apologetics for people who did seriously bad things) it will enter our discourse and take over despite any defenses. That just does not seem true.]

With the recent attack in Kashmir and the resulting conflict between Pakistan and India, I'm now more convinced than ever that your archnemesis is an Islamist of some sort that is Jewfaking. I remember that one post of hindulivesmatters where said nemesis tried to pretend to be an Israeli "who left because of the war" and got called out for it (and the whole thing references the fake Hebrew stuff too).
But hindsight being 20/20, I should have recognized the signs of an Islamist right then and there. The hate that they have for Hindus and Jews is something I've only seen people of that particular persuasion. The fact that they primarily only reblog from other Islamist Tankie accounts and not any other anti-Zionist Jews is also an indicator (to me) as well. Can't believe it took me this long tbh.
(also, sorry if this makes them come after you again)
Dear anon,
It’s ok
it took until the change in 180 attitude towards Zionism after tikkunolamresistance was nuked by staff for patreon ties to shady orgs that I realized it was a kahanist weirdo but a Iranian bot with the same handler as TOR
and don’t worry anons are off because people are sending my receipts that aren’t antisemitism but their grievances against tankies or asking me to cover the antisemitic ragebait
and sta’s flying monkeys all hide behind anon AND they seem to fear a blog with one tenth of their followers with how I troll them right back
yours,
Cecil

NO, you're not "class traitors" for supporting both of them and still calling yourself a "leftist".
Just do what you like, keep watching your favorite shows and avoid people who are blatantly trolling and are just trying to make you question your choices.
Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't be critical of your favorite media, nobody is perfect and media criticism is always accepted, but for the love of G-d PLEASE do not fall for ragebait.

Snow White (2025) and the "Let Men Be Masculine" Effect [An Informal Essay]
Three years ago, tumblr user Foulserpent would post the following, forever entering the larger internet lexicon:
Tumblr media
Of course, everyone who is normal and goes outside can see the idea of male masculininity positivity to be ridiculous. But at the risk of sounding like every internet incel talking about male sexual violence statistics, I'd like to pose how people would react if the genders were reversed. Well, okay, that's rhetorical, because that's just the media response to Disney's Snow White remake.
Newsflash: Ragebait Sells!
Snow White was a victim of ragebait marketing since day one. It was a natural conclusion, I suppose. Remake fatigue was already setting in with 2019's Aladdin and The Lion King, so six entire years later, marketing with "It's just like the original, but for adults!" wasn't going to cut it. Disney dipped their toes in with The Little Mermaid. I truly believe that at first it wasn't intentional. But Disney is no doubt smart and took advantage of that outrage, and what did they get? A rather well regarded film (by slop remake standards), a disney jr. tv show, and a shit ton of merch sales.
Artistry is dead in the Disney company. With original flop after flop from both the main studio and Pixar animation, there's a clear desperation in trying to just keep the line going up, no matter how embarrassing it may be. And again and again, they used media outrage to hide behind their own blunders and shift the blame as appropriate. Like, let's be honest: Peter Dinklage wasn't why they used CGI on the dwarves. Actors have unions. CGI animators don't. Pinning the shift in decision on a minority was just the easiest choice.
(And, side note? Remember this image?)
Tumblr media
(These weren't replacements for the dwarves. They were always just another band of characters meant to interact with them. Goes to show how reliable media coverage is)
How To Create A Scapegoat
This brings us to Rachel Zegler, the woman of the hour. From the minute her casting was announced, she was doomed. Fresh off the Halle Bailey controversy, everything about her was taken into question. And let me make it clear: The initial backlash was racism through and through. I have seen countless people call her vile nicknames such as "Mud Brown", say that she can't be fairest of the land "because her skin isn't fair." (The entire point of the fairytale is that her status of fairest isn't just her outer beauty but her innate goodness? A point that's even further explored in the film - fair not just in beauty, but fair in her treatment of her people ... it's a double meaning, guys).
Then she goes on press tours. She gives the same song and dance that everyone has given since Lily James with Cinderella. And even before then, the same old intention with princess stories that has been Disney's goal since 2008: Portraying protagonists that aren't reliant on their male leads to be saved. But somehow, Rachel Zegler is the first to be accused of hating the original film? Too cruel, too mean, too catty. A tale as old as time for pretty much every latina that has lived in the mainland US.
All Rachel Zegler did was point out the obvious: Snow White is outdated. It's a film from 1937. White women in the US earned the right to vote only 17 years prior. The Equal Pay Act wouldn't be passed until 1963. Roe V. Wade wouldn't be passed for another ten years; the year 1973. Only a year later would women be allowed to own credit cards.
Snow White Was Always Flawed, Actually
The titular protagonist was not docile and sweet because Walt Disney had something to say about allowing women to do what they want. Snow White was written like that because it was the 30s, and she was an idealized woman, a princess, and an idealized woman was someone who was kind even in the face of attackers, cleaned up after grown men, and immediately accepted the hand of the first man who came her way. Yeah, I'm being uncharitable. You can imagine a million different ways that Snow White is actually shown favorably in a way that aligns with modern political sensibilities. That doesn't change the context of when it was written.
It's not unreasonable to say that a heroine should have time to get to know her male counterpart before they fall in love. It's not unreasonable to ask for a heroine to be the focus of the runtime and not a dozen side characters (a problem that also persists in Cinderella and Sleeping beauty). And it's not unreasonable to say that a heroine should be allowed to save the day in her own fucking movie.
Disney's golden and silver ages were not without artistic merit. I hold them dearly as films that showed groundbreaking artistry. But they were just that: Art first, vehicles for storytelling second. And ever since Menken and Ashman popularized the idea of animated films following a traditional broadway structure, changes would have to have been made in order to re-adapt (and I say this word very purposely, because disney did not create these stories) such films into a modern age. This includes updating the gender politics and how female characters are treated. It is not a bad thing to acknowledge that, in spite of being good pieces of art, these films were inherently misogynistic due to being products of their time.
Let Snow White Be Feminine ... I guess.
We finally come to my central point: To argue that Snow White (2025) bastardized Snow White's character will always hinge on a mentality that can be summed up succintly: Choice Feminism's "Let Women be Feminine."
Perhaps this isn't unwarranted. The Disney Princess lineup was a victim of mass misinformation in the mid 2010s thanks to big companies like Buzzfeed (a topic I will gladly talk about another time), where their movies were taken out of context for bad faith criticism. But this just has led people to blind themselves to legitimate feminist criticism of Disney's stories. Y'know. The films mostly made by teams of cis men. I'm sure nothing ever goes wrong here.
But now we deal with arguments everyday such as "I can't believe they think women need to be strong" or "women should be allowed to be dainty and soft and fall in love!" ... Please get a grip. Please understand what you are saying. It is actually embarrassing.
There is no world where masculinity in women is praised more than femininity. No, not even in "feminist" depictions where women are allowed to be actual characters. You know why? Because it still plays into the same patriarchal narrative at the end of the day. A lot of men love a 'free spirit'; a woman that begins independent, maybe a bit tomboy-ish, until they can break her down into some tradwife. Quite literally just... talk to conservative men. Like ever.
I think you'll get why the acceptance of gender non-conforming women is very conditional, and maybe now understand how utterly insane this argument sounds.
Snow White Isn't Even Masculine
I must also make this clear before this essay comes to a close: Snow White is not a masculine badass. She still retains her core traits of being kind, empathetic, and rather passive. Hell, her passivity is part of her character arc. They actually transformed something that was nothing more than a trait of what a "good girl" of the 30s ought to be into a clever storytelling decision.
Snow White starts out the movie afraid of the queen. She tries to discourage her cruelty, but is otherwise passive and allows her to do as she pleases. She wants more, but is afraid of rocking the boat. When she first frees her love interest against the queen's orders, something changes in her. She's still kind, but she realizes that she can't just sit around and wait. When she defends her love interest and his gang, it's through a clever trick, not outright violence. And when Snow White is given the chance to deal with the queen violently... She doesn't take it. (And it's not because Disney is full of cowards - They very much have the queen threaten to murder people like every five seconds in this film). Snow White leads a peaceful revolution and is rewarded with a happy ending.
And, okay, maybe you can probably extrapolate something there about liberal politics, but this is long, and I'm tired, and I'm not going to criticize disney films for being too liberal when they all hinge on "let's replace the bad monarch with the good monarch", like I think we should touch on that first before even talking about revolution strategies. But I digress.
How To Save a Sinking Ship
Now let's face it: Snow White was a doomed movie. The writing has been on the wall for years, and Disney was always well aware of this. They were choosing the most unpopular princess and throwing her film into an oversaturated market with audience fatigue. How do you save a film thats doomed to fail? You choose a scapegoat. You tout her around as this disrespectful woman in need of being 'shown her place' (in the midst of a rising fascist movement, mind you) with the hopes that people will want to hate-watch it. Ticket sales don't take into account your intentions, after all. And when people start buzzing about your other female lead supporting genocide, you instead make it about how the former made a children's movie "political".
And then you rant about your daddy leaving behind his grown children to yell at a twenty-three year old across the country or something like that. Did I mention I fucking hate the Platt family?
Either way, Disney might've had this backfire on them spectacularly. Instead of bringing in the dollars like The Little Mermaid did, it failed to a level I never even anticipated. When I attended, I was one of five people in the theater. The other four were two elderly couples who I think literally just needed something to do.
We still have the Lilo and Stitch remake to account for, so only time will tell what Disney will learn from Snow White. If Lilo and Stitch succeeds, then I'm sure they'll chalk it up to ragebait marketing failing and never hire actresses of color again unless necessary, because they're seemingly only good for opening up to racist abuse to line Disney's pockets. And if it fails... they'll probably also take away that no one wants to see films with people of color rather than that they need to stop with the live action remakes for good.
Remakes dying is an inevitability. Disney is going through some growing pains. I see it as the same category of mess that was the 00s direct to dvd sequel era. A byproduct of failing profits that led to desperation. A recession and Tinkerbell's disasterous production broke the curse, and I suspect that remakes are on their way out as well, even if the tail end is horrific.
But if we must sit through a few more, I'd take another few Snow Whites over a Lion King any day.

Hey, anon who dislikes DBZ here. And, I have to say, thank you for the well thought out response. And I can respect nostalgia playing a big factor in your fondness for DBZ. Honestly I feel similarly with YYH. I love it, but I will also readily admit that it has all the same problems DBZ does and is objectively a bad anime.
As I said, I can't really judge most of the anime you mentioned. I don't even feel confident judging MHA, since I've only seen half of it.
And you did mention that you were talking about popular anime. My bad. Personally when it comes to popular anime (that I've actually seen) that's actually really good my mind right away goes to Cowboy Bebop. That's kind of my "is it worth the hype" yardstick. Not that much (in my opinion) compares to Bebop, but it's more about how close they can approach.
And just as a last point, I kinda doubt you actually know who I am. I just regularly check the Dandadan tag, and I think the post of yours I sent my initial ask about was the first time I'd ever seen one of your posts. Whether or not you believe me is up to you. And then I just now found that same post again and wanted to check to see if you had responded to my ask. Which, I do appreciate your response. The initial post really did seem like rage bait, but this response was much more reasoned, and I can appreciate proper discussion, even when I may disagree. I'll probably check again in a day or two to see if you responded to this. But that's just because I'm insatiably curious.
I really do know who you are, can't fool me 😉
Curious about what? My take or opinion on anime in general? I get attacked a lot in return by people that express initial curiosity because they can't handle when I actually elaborate so I refrain from doing so. Not out of fear but just to save my time. I'm not sure if this is a sarcastic ride for you or you're actually taking me serious but oh well🤷‍♂️
My love for DBZ isn't just influenced by nostalgia but definitely a strong factor. I feel like a lot of hate it gets is the same reason why people feel so negatively against JJK. Jealousy tbh, comes across like this spontaneous hate that feels contrived and unexplained. I'm the type to think for myself and not fall into the hypetrap as I call it for shows but the hate DBZ and JJK get as a collective is forced. Feels like they both are scapegoats to the rest of the slop people enjoyed and can't stomach criticizing
I've tried getting into Yu Yu Hakusho but it never interested me. I watched out of my own violation in mid 2010s because I kept seeing it and was curious. I haven't really heard anything about it and knew it was created by the same guy who made Hiatus x Hiatus which sucked imo because of how dragging and needless it was. I couldn't fairly judge or look down YYH or anyone who likes it because I never finished it but I say what I did watch wasn't as bad as the same amount of what I watched from let's say One Punch Man that operates under the 12 episode format like lesser known anime. So yeah it would be like your experience with MHA. Watched it, was ehh about it but didn't complete it. Me personally I wouldn't waste time watching MHA.
I only heard of Cowboy Bebop and it honestly doesn't look all that bad for a popular anime(only problem is I never watched it to fully know) but it's not what I usually go for in a show tbh. What do I like? Thats a secret unless you're curious 🤒
To your last point which seems odd. I'm not accusing you of lying or ever implied that you know me yourself. I only said I know who you are behind the anon 🤧 I'm only responding because I'm unaware of your intentions with my thoughts to my main post which you admitted to calling ragebait when I made it very clear it wasn't. We'll see though if you're taking the piss out of me or not

Mirror my friend! I hope you're doing okay these days. In the same way you have sent me an ask, I shall sent you one now! Also inspired by TikTok
Listen, Aster is Stan's son, this man can lie with a straight face. I feel like he'll defend a wrong fact that he knows is wrong, just to piss off the other person. Either this man doesn't care or he'll be a ragebaiter to anyone he despises or for fun. He'll be weaving the most insane story, intonation and everything, sounding convincing as fuck to the point people either 100% believe him bc "c'mon it's Aster dude, guy was a multiverse criminal for decades" or get skeptical but they can't prove he's lying because it sounds like something he'll do, you know???
So imagine, Aster surrounded by his half-siblings as they hang on their (extremely cool) half-big-brother words:
Aster, completely deadpan: my mom wasn't really present in my life
(They're completely silent, mood immediately shifting as they try to comfort the oldest of them. Only for him to soon hit them with:
Aster: and he made me eat roaches with the cereal
(Stan starts screaming bloody murder from the room he's at, cursing and yelling at Aster of how he gave birth to him and that "he's pulling this shit again")
Aster, forlornly: and he never paid the bills too, our lights were always getting cut off
(His siblings just hear the stomping of boots, yells getting louder as they looked confused at how to feel. Anne Niece quietly laughed from where she sat, petting Cleo in her lap)
Aster: so when I turned 17, i ran away to the Olympics, where I would get famous for individual synchronized swimming–
(He's interrupted by a pillow hitting his face full force as Stan proceeds to verbally rip him a new one. The others watch stunned as Aster proceeds to continue his "story" with a grin)
I feel like the ones closest to him know that he's fucking, the dude absolutely loves his mom (annoying his mom is his love language, trust)
Hi Ilumi, I am so happy that I have found out that you have sent me an ask after I sent you mine! I am a bit hectic at the moment, but what can you do but march on.
Reading through the story, it reminded me of the Brother Bear scene very much. Y'know, the one where the old bear keeps telling others how she misses her dead husband, when actually he's not? Dunno why, that scene really resonates so much in here. As much as Stan really loves him, Aster's bullshit stories sometimes make him want to wrap his hands around his throat.
Tumblr media
Given that he's such a skilled liar ('the apple never falls far from the same tree that it came from' as Aster would say), he must be a major pain in the ass for all of the half-siblings to play deception games with. Mama and the other Contracted would have many stories of him starting fights because of this.
And trust me, he would not try to pull this shit on Anne Nieve again (that is the correct name spelling, it was my fault for this error!). The last time he did that to her, she took Cleo and kicked him out of her apartment and made him stay outside through the night.
It was in November, with a snowstorm to boot.
As always, love your prompts and keep em up my friend!

The blog @baronkelvinisgod is indeed rage bait even though they are trying to ignore me calling it out. Proof so no one falls for it either this time or if the person comes back in the future under a new blog. Don't bother engaging with them.
I am commenting on all their posts because they confessed to me before on their old blog where they did the same ragebait stuff.
Message to them, once again:
Why are you back when you already admitted to me months ago on your old blog that this was indeed a fake trolling attempt? If your stated purpose was indeed to troll antis (using the exact sort of deeply inappropriate language that sort of proves their point, like seriously I am not an anti but the stuff you were posting is inexcusable and makes all proshippers look bad so I question your true intention because you are making the OPPOSITE of your point, don't you know that when satire goes too far it becomes the very thing it is parodying?) then why say you're done since you proved your point and then come back to prove it again? Seems more like you are motivated by amusement and attention. Did you think I would forget or something? Pepperidge Farm remembers 😂
And don't try to say that wasn't you because you're even posting the same custom-made memes from back then and I have proof. I let it go the first time because I believed you were done, but at this point it's just stupid. If you think you can just keep coming back and block this blog so I can't see your posts, this is obviously a throwaway and I have many more under multiple VPNs. Seriously, I gave you the benefit of the doubt before but I'm not letting this happen again. I'm watching. Just let it go.
