god sorry the brainrot is so real tonight bc i keep thinking about how jayce is a certified LOVER BOYYYY. he’s all physical touch and reassuring glances, always touching you in anyway he can when you’re next to him. brings you your favorite coffee or flowers when you least expect it; just because he can. speaks in the softest tone when you’re around and gives you everything and anything you ask for without a second thought. and even though he’s still a little clueless and nervous when you reciprocate his feelings, he still kisses you with his entire soul bc he just loves so deeply UGHHHHH

meanwhile viktor, while a little insecure about himself, loves just as deeply but far more quietly than jayce does. he’s the one who scoots your coffee cup closer to you in the mornings, just so you don’t have to reach so far for it. writes you little notes for you to find in your books and then acts like he doesn’t know how they got there. kisses you randomly on the forehead as he walks by and every time it leaves you giddy. he longingly stares at you across the room but when you ask what he’s looking at he’ll just make some excuse up and busy himself with something else. acts of service and quality time is his love language and he’d do anything for you RAAAAA

I read somewhere that Zaunites consider a forehead to forehead touch to be more meaningful than a kiss, so it got me thinking that maybe Jayce and Viktor would agree to compromise about casual yet meaningful affection that fulfills both of them

Like, Jayce is about the leave the lab for a council meeting so he goes over to Viktor, who’s sitting at his desk, and gently places a hand on the nape of his love’s neck while mumbling, “I’ll be back,” with a gentle smile — and when Viktor looks up at him, Jayce bends down to gently press his forehead to Viktor’s, their eyes closing to savour the moment.

And Viktor mutters something like, “I’ll be here,” before lifting his chin and softening his mouth, so sweet as he gives Jayce a kiss, lingering there to savour the warmth of his lips against his.

They look at one another as they part, Jayce smiling wide while Viktor smiles shyly, both feeling a warmth in their chests before they return to their duties.

tbh I don’t think therapy would have fixed Jayce and Viktor lmao. maybe would have softened their self-destructive tendencies but there’s no fixing that co-dependent relationship. Heimerdinger Mel and Sky are told “yeah, I can help treat their individual depressions but nothing is gonna reduce their co-dependency. I’m pretty sure separating them makes it a lot worse for not only them but much worse for everyone else. for everyone’s safety I suggest they’re not allowed to be more than a buildings length away from each other and even that is pushing it.” That therapist then quits on the spot cause now they’ve literally seen everything.

It’s like that scene in Brooklyn nine nine where all the physiatrists are observing and talking with Gina but instead it’s a whole crew of therapists and neurologists and physiologists trying to find out how these two men literally mind-melded together. They go to couples therapy but it’s literally just individual therapy held together because why tf not it’s the only way to get them to go.

Viktor said so himself in the first season: The Hexcore is capable of learning, adapting.

If runes are akin to a programming language: symbols as tools to harness the Arcane, then wild runes are the innate language by which the Arcane speaks to Viktor: now controlled by that which he once created.

I have a really specific interpretation of femjayce where she’s still just as popular with the girls as regular Jayce but rather than it being boyish charm or whatever she’s more of a princely woman archetype à la Utena Tenjou or Lady Oscar. She grows her hair out during the timeskip era but cuts it again after being vomited out of the wild rune

unfortunate news i can’t stop thinking about an au of meljayskyvik. sky died first, in a freak accident. viktor is dying, he knows that. he can feel sky’s presence, her hand on his shoulder. he allows jayce to drag him out of the lab more often, eating just enough to make jayce happy. he sits and watches mel paint more, sinking in the way her hands move on the canvas.

one day, he can’t find the energy to get out of bed, jayce and mel’s tired arms draping over him doesn’t help the situation.

he sees sky, sunlit and lingering by the window. she’s beautiful, looking just as she did that fateful day when she left the lab alone. “are you here to meet me or to ask me up?” viktor’s voice cracks from how quietly he asks. sky doesn’t answer, just gives him that… look, and moves closer.

the sun makes it a bit hard to make out her shadowed expression, but when he squints he can see her mouthing words. ‘it’s wonderful to see you.’ she stands by the side of the bed. viktor can’t feel the weight of his partners arms anymore. “it’s time to pack up.” he can hear her now. janna, he missed her voice.

viktor feels lighter than ever when he sits up and reaches for sky. he feels her skin underneath his touch. the faint calluses of her fingers, the chipped nails, all of it, painfully familiar. he presses a kiss to her palm as she cups his face.

“i’ve missed our talks.” sky’s voice drowns out all the sounds of the world, even jayce’s voice asking him to wake. viktor lets sky lead him into a hug, and he closes his eyes, hugging her back. this time, she doesn’t fade.
