Home school Home birth
Note: this is the first story to be written based on an idea i was sent! If you anyone has anymore no guarantee I’ll do them but feel free to send me them!
Emma sat perched on her birthing ball, rocking slowly in a rhythmic motion as she tried to ease the relentless pressure in her back. The twins were getting heavier every day, pressing down on her pelvis with an intensity she hadn’t felt with her previous pregnancies. She was enormous now, her belly swollen and round, and every movement felt like an effort. But she tried not to let it show in front of the kids.
Lily and Ben sat at the kitchen table, books and papers spread out before them as they worked through their homeschool lessons. They were so used to this new routine now—Emma managing their schooling while keeping her mind focused on the impending arrival of the twins—that they barely noticed when she winced or shifted uncomfortably. It was just part of the day.
Still, she wasn’t sure how much longer she could keep up the act. The twins felt like they were ready to burst out at any moment, and her body was exhausted. She exhaled slowly, adjusting her position on the ball, and glanced at the clock. James wouldn’t be home for several more hours, and she prayed she could make it until then.
“Mom?” Ben called, his small voice cutting through her thoughts. He had abandoned his reading book and was looking at her with those wide, curious eyes that always made her heart melt. “Can you help me find my red dinosaur? I lost it under the couch.”
Emma groaned inwardly. The last thing she wanted to do was crawl around on the floor right now, but Ben was already sliding off his chair, hopeful.
“Sweetheart,” she began, her voice tired, “I’m not sure I can get down there right now. Can you check for it yourself?”
Ben’s face fell. “But I can’t reach. Please, Mom?”
She sighed, rubbing her belly. “Alright, let me try.” Slowly, Emma rolled off the birthing ball, her body protesting every inch of the way. As soon as she stood, the weight of the twins bore down on her pelvis like a leaden mass. She huffed out a breath and waddled over to the couch, trying to ignore how tight her belly was feeling.
She crouched awkwardly, wincing as she knelt down to peer under the couch. A sharp pain radiated through her lower back, and she had to pause to catch her breath. The twins shifted inside her, as if reminding her of just how little space they had left. “Ben, I don’t see it,” she said, her voice strained as she struggled to reach under the couch.
Ben dropped to his knees next to her, his little hand pointing excitedly. “It’s right there, see? Just a little further back.”
Emma gritted her teeth, stretching her arm as far as she could manage. Her belly pressed uncomfortably against the edge of the couch, and she could feel sweat beading on her forehead from the effort. Finally, her fingers grazed the toy’s plastic edge, and she managed to pull it out, handing it over to Ben with a triumphant, if tired, smile.
“Got it!” she said, though her voice lacked the enthusiasm she was hoping for.
Ben’s face lit up, and he grabbed the toy, running off with a shout of “Thanks, Mom!” Emma sat back on her heels, trying to gather the energy to stand. Just as she was about to push herself up, another voice called out.
“Mom!” Lily piped up from the kitchen. “Can you help me with this math problem? I don’t understand it.”
Emma groaned softly, her hands pressing against the couch as she tried to haul herself up. Everything hurt, and the pressure in her pelvis was becoming impossible to ignore. She managed to rise, though her legs felt shaky beneath her.
“Coming, Lily,” she said, forcing herself to waddle over to the kitchen table. As soon as she sat down, she felt another tight cramp ripple through her belly. She took a deep breath, brushing it off as just another one of those Braxton Hicks contractions she’d been having for weeks. They’d come and go, teasing her, but never progressing into real labor. Still, something about today felt different.
Lily slid her workbook over, her finger pointing to a math problem. “I don’t get it. Can you explain it again?”
Emma leaned in to read the question, but as she did, another sharp tightening gripped her belly. This time, she couldn’t ignore it. She closed her eyes for a second, her hand instinctively moving to her stomach as she tried to breathe through the discomfort.
“Mom?” Lily’s voice cut through the fog of pain. “Are you okay?”
Emma opened her eyes, forcing a smile. “I’m fine, honey. Just a little… twinge. What’s the question again?”
Lily frowned but didn’t press. She pointed to the problem again, and Emma did her best to explain, though the words felt thick in her mouth. Another wave of pressure hit her lower back, and she shifted uncomfortably in the chair, trying to find a position that didn’t make her feel like she was being split in two.
“Mom, can we have a snack?” Ben called from across the room, his little dinosaur clutched in his hand.
Emma blinked, trying to focus. “Sure, buddy. Give me a second.”
She started to push herself up, but halfway to standing, she froze. A sudden, deep pop echoed inside her, like a water balloon bursting, followed by an unmistakable gush of warmth that soaked through her leggings and spilled onto the floor beneath her. Her water had broken.
For a moment, she just stood there, stunned, staring at the puddle on the floor. Her heart raced as she tried to process what was happening. No, no, no… it was too soon.
“Mom?” Lily’s voice was small, her eyes wide as she took in the sight. “What just happened?”
Emma blinked, snapping out of her daze. “My water just broke,” she said, her voice shaky. The reality of the situation hit her hard. The twins were coming. Now.
Ben ran over, his eyes bright with concern. “Mommy, are you alright?”
Emma took a shaky breath and forced a smile. “I’m okay, sweetheart. Just a little surprised, that’s all.” She grabbed the back of a chair, steadying herself as a contraction rolled through her, much stronger than the ones she’d felt earlier. “Okay, kids, listen to me,” she said, her voice firm despite the pain. “I need you to help me, alright?”
Lily was already by her side, her small hand on Emma’s arm. “What do you need, Mom?”
“Lily, can you get me my phone from the counter?” Emma said, her breath coming in short bursts as another contraction tightened her belly. Lily ran off to grab it, while Emma turned to Ben. “Ben, can you get some towels from the bathroom and bring them here?”
Ben nodded and darted toward the hallway, leaving Emma standing in the kitchen, gripping the chair as another wave of pain overtook her. The contractions were coming fast now, and she knew she didn’t have much time. Her hands trembled as she tried to breathe through the pain, focusing on keeping calm for the kids.
Lily returned with the phone, and Emma quickly dialed James’s number, her fingers shaking as she pressed the buttons. The phone rang once, twice, and then James’s voice came through the line.
“Hey, babe! How’s it going?”
“James,” Emma gasped, “my water just broke. I think I’m in labor.”
There was a pause, followed by the sound of James’s chair scraping across the floor. “What? Now? Are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” Emma said, her voice tight with pain. “The contractions are really strong. You need to come home. Now.”
“I’m leaving right now,” James said, his voice urgent. “I’ll call an ambulance, just in case. Hang in there, Em. I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
Emma ended the call just as Ben ran back into the room, his arms full of towels. He looked at the puddle on the floor and back at his mom, his eyes wide with curiosity. “Is it time for the babies to come out?”
“Yes, Ben,” Emma said, her voice trembling as another contraction gripped her. “It’s time.”
She moved toward the couch, trying to lower herself onto the towels that Ben had spread out, but her legs were shaking so badly that she could barely stand. The pressure in her pelvis was unbearable, and she knew that the twins weren’t going to wait much longer.
Lily stood by her side, her hand clutching Emma’s arm.
Emma clutched the back of the couch, her body trembling as the contractions came one after another, with barely any time to rest in between. The pressure was overwhelming, and she knew they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.
Emma leaned heavily against the couch, each contraction washing over her like a tidal wave, relentless and intense. She could feel the pressure building, and with each wave, the reality of the situation sank in deeper. There was no way they would make it to the hospital in time.
“Mommy, what’s happening?” Ben’s small voice trembled with worry as he watched her.
“It’s okay, Ben. Just breathe with me, alright?” Emma gasped, trying to find some semblance of calm amidst the chaos. She could see Lily’s concerned face as she moved closer, her eyes wide with fear.
“What can we do to help?” Lily asked, her voice steadying as she took on a role of determination.
Emma swallowed hard. “Just stay close and listen to me.” She gripped the edge of the couch tightly, feeling another contraction hit her. “I need you both to be brave. This is going to happen here, but we can do this together.”
“Okay, Mommy,” Ben said, his little fists clenched as he tried to appear strong.
As another contraction surged through her, Emma let out a low groan, her body tensing. “Kids, I need you to find some more towels and a blanket. We’re going to need them.”
Lily nodded and darted to the bathroom, while Ben ran to grab a blanket from the living room. Emma breathed through the pain, her vision narrowing as she focused on the task ahead. She could feel the twins shifting inside her, and it was a strange mix of anticipation and fear.
“Here, Mommy!” Lily returned with a pile of towels, her small face flushed with effort.
“Thank you, sweetie. Just lay them down here on the floor,” Emma instructed, pointing to the space beside the couch.
Ben hurried back with the blanket, his face a mix of excitement and worry. “I got it, Mommy!” he said, laying it down with exaggerated care.
“Perfect. Now I need you both to stay right here and hold my hand, okay?” Emma said, her voice firm as she felt another wave of pressure build.
“Okay, Mommy,” they chorused, taking their places beside her.
Emma leaned back against the couch, panting as the next contraction hit her. She closed her eyes, focusing on her breathing. “You can do this, Emma,” she whispered to herself, though the doubt crept in.
“Mommy, are you alright?” Ben asked again, his small hand gripping hers tightly.
“I’m alright, honey. Just a little more pressure,” she replied, forcing a smile.
Suddenly, she felt an intense urge to push, one that she couldn't ignore. “Kids, I need you to stay close and help me. I need you to support me.”
“Okay!” Lily said, her voice filled with determination.
Emma's body began to tense up again, and she grunted, the sound escaping her lips involuntarily. “Ohh… oh God,” she moaned, feeling the pressure build inside her.
“Mommy!” Ben exclaimed, his eyes wide as he watched her. “Are you okay? You sound… different!”
“I’m okay, sweetheart. Just working hard,” Emma replied through gritted teeth, sweat beading on her forehead.
“Do you want me to get you some water?” Lily offered, her eyes darting around as if searching for anything to help.
“No, honey, I just need to breathe,” Emma said, her breath coming in quick, short gasps. With each contraction, she let out a low groan, feeling the unmistakable urge to push intensify. “Ohh, I can feel them coming, I can feel them!”
“Mommy, are you gonna be okay?” Ben asked, worry lacing his voice.
“I will be, baby, I promise,” Emma managed to say before another contraction hit, and she let out a loud groan, her body shaking with effort. “Ahhh… it’s happening!”
“Mommy!” Lily said, gripping Emma’s arm tighter. “You’re doing it! You can do it!”
Emma focused on her children, their encouragement giving her strength. She felt the incredible pressure building, followed by a rush of warmth as she welcomed the first twin into the world.
“It’s a baby!” she gasped, tears of relief and joy streaming down her cheeks as she caught sight of her newborn.
“Is it a girl?” Ben asked, peering closely, excitement mingling with awe.
“Yes! It’s a girl!” Emma exclaimed, cradling her daughter carefully in her arms as the baby let out a soft cry.
“Mommy, you did it!” Ben cheered, his innocent excitement mingling with concern.
“We helped, too!” Lily added, her face beaming with pride.
Emma smiled, tears of joy spilling down her face as she looked at her children, who had been her rock through this incredible moment. “Yes, you did! I couldn’t have done it without you.”
But she wasn’t done yet. As the reality set in, another wave of pressure came, and Emma prepared herself for the second twin. “Ohh… here we go again!” she groaned, feeling the contractions surge through her body once more.
“Come on, Mommy! You can do it!” Ben encouraged, his small fists clenching with anticipation.
“Keep going, Mommy!” Lily echoed, her eyes fixed on Emma, filled with admiration and worry.
With determination, Emma pushed again, feeling the familiar sensation of movement within her, and with a final, powerful effort, she welcomed the second baby into the world, this one a boy.
“It’s a boy!” she gasped, cradling both babies in her arms as they cried softly.
“Mommy, you really did it!” Ben exclaimed, jumping up and down in pure joy.
“We helped!” Lily added, her face aglow with excitement.
Emma looked down at her newborns, panting as she reveled in the moment. “Welcome to the world, little ones,” she whispered, holding her babies close as her children beamed with pride.
Just then, Emma heard the distant sound of sirens approaching. Relief washed over her, knowing that James was finally on his way. But in that moment, surrounded by her two eldest and the two new lives she had just brought into the world, she felt a warmth in her heart that she had never known before.

The smirk on Sirius’s face was the only evidence you needed to know this was a horrible idea. There was a certain way his mouth would move when he came up with an idea that would end in some sort of disaster. Despite learning what this smirk looked like, you were never able to predict it before it happened. Usually, you noticed it much too late. Currently Sirius was smirking at you and you could practically see the gears working in his brain.
The afterparty the Gryffindor team had thrown to celebrate winning the Quidditch cup was finally winding down and you were sprawled out on the couch; the sound of conversations and the rain hitting the windows could have lulled you to sleep if it wasn’t for James. Your feet were resting on Sirius’s lap while your head was in James’s. His thumb was absentmindedly stroking your cheek as he carried on a conversation with Remus; the action sent butterflies to wreak havoc on your insides.
Sirius, who had only been watching the scene play out for a while, pinched your leg to get your attention. It was that action that caused you to look at him and see the terrifying smirk on his face. Months ago you made the mistake of confessing to Sirius about your crush on James. You hadn’t really meant to tell him since you thought you were just confessing to Remus but Sirius was the one who came in the empty classroom. You started spewing your feelings without looking to see exactly who came in. At least it wasn’t James.
But ever since then, Sirius made it a point to try and find a way to get you to admit your feelings for James to the man himself. You had him swear not to tell anyone, especially James and so far he’s followed his promise. Of course, you can never expect Sirius to keep his mouth shut for long.
“Everyone!” Sirius yelled and stood, shoving your feet off of him. “It’s time to play a little game of truth or dare, with a twist. Remus, it’s time.”
Remus abruptly ended the conversation with James and sprinted up the stairs to his dorm. As he came back down, he had a small vial in his hands and smirk that could almost rival Sirius on his face. He knew. After telling Sirius about your crush on James, you didn’t dare tell anyone else. It was bad enough that the biggest gossip in Hogwarts knew, no one else could know either. Except of course, Sirius told Remus; you were sure he told him because how else would he have known?
You weren’t sure if Peter or Lily knew but they soon proved they did when they also smirked at you. Did everyone but James know? You turned your head to risk looking at the boy that captured your heart but luckily he looked confused. You were safe, for now.
“What do you have Moons?” James asked, patting your arm a little before he helped you sit up.
“Yeah Moony, what’s in the vial?” Peter asked, nudging Lily with his elbow.
Remus looked you in the eye with a shit-eating grin. “Just a little potion Lily and I whipped up today.” He paused, no doubt for dramatic affect. “Veritaserum, the most powerful truth serum in the magical world.”
Sirius wandered over to Remus and plucked the potion from his hand. “Now any of you babies who pick truth over dare, won’t get away with a lie.”
At this, you scrambled off the couch and moved over to Sirius. “What are you doing? Don’t do this to me. Don’t do this to Remus.” You hissed, grabbing his arm. “You can’t be serious.”
“Newsflash love, I am Sirius and I’ve given you plenty of chances to admit your feelings but you never did. Now, we’re forcing your hand. Get over it and play the game babes.” He patted your head much like you would do to a dog and gathered everyone to sit in a circle on the floor. You were sure that somewhere in his brain, Sirius was doing all of this to help. You never asked him to help but he wasn’t the type to just sit back and wait for things to happen. In some way, he thought this was the best way to help you, or you hoped that was the case.
You took a seat on the floor between Lily and Peter. Despite them also knowing about your feelings for James, you hoped they would be kinder. Remus moved around the circle and placed a single drop of the potion in everyone’s mouth. Once everyone, including himself had one, he sat down next to James who was across from you. “This is a safe group for Moony. Everyone here already knows about his hairy little problem.” Sirius smiled and turned to Peter. “Time to test the potion. Pete, what’s something you would never tell anyone?”
“I wet the bed until I was 10.” Peter answered quickly. Everyone was silent.
You patted his back and smiled. “Don’t worry Wormtail. It’s alright.”
Sirius nodded slowly before he cleared his throat. “Anyway, let’s start with James. Truth or dare?”
“Dare of course.” James rolled his eyes and leaned back on his elbows. He looked so cocky with the smirk on his face but he sure looked good.
“Lovely. I dare you to serenade Moony. Pick whatever song you’d like.”
James jumped to his feet immediately. “At first I was afraid, I was petrified. Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side.” He dropped to his knees and began crawling toward Remus who was looking anywhere but at James. “But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong and I grew strong. And I learned how to get along!” He crawled into his lap and grabbed his face in his hands, forcing his friend to watch him. He mumbled for a while, making up the words he didn’t know until he got to the chorus. “Did you think I’d crumble? Did you think I’d lay down and die? Oh, no not I! I will survive!”
“Alright, that’s enough.” Remus groaned and shoved James off his lap. He adjusted his glasses and crawled back to his seat.
“Personally,” he said as he sat down, “I think that was my best performance yet.” James sent you a wink and the butterflies were back with a vengeance. “And I think you should go next Moony.”
“No matter what I pick I’m sure I’ll be embarrassed so, truth I suppose.” Remus sighed and rubbed his face. He was certainly having regrets about playing this game.
“When was the most inappropriate time you farted?” James asked through the giggles that overtook him. The rest of the group laughed along with him but you were too busy smiling to laugh. James had the cutest and sweetest laugh you ever heard. It reminded you of pure joy and you were sure if you could find a way to bottle it up and sell it, you'd be a billionaire.
“In History of Magic two weeks ago. Binns gave us a test and it slipped out. I blamed it on James and everyone believed me.”
James pouted and stopped laughing while everyone else only laughed harder.
---
The night continued with silly questions and dares and surprisingly, many of them were not directed at you. Either everyone had forgotten their plan to make you confess your feelings or it hadn’t happened yet. Just when you thought you were going to get out of this with your dignity still intact, Sirius turned to you. “Alright Y/N. I’m giving you the option here. Truth or dare?”
You didn’t know which one to pick. If you chose truth you were sure Sirius would force you to just admit your feelings. Dare had its own risks too. Sirius had made Lily and Peter switch tops (he actually looked quite cute in the crop top), Moony had to drop his pants and moon the group, and poor James had to try and do a backflip; his nose had just stopped bleeding. There was no winning. “Truth.” Sirius had that wild smirk back on his face. “No! I choose dare. I meant to say dare!”
“Too late. If you had to marry someone in the group, who would you pick and why?”
That actually wasn’t too bad. “James. He’s sweet and funny and he can always make me smile. He’s also pretty handsome too.” Perhaps you would have lied if you could have but with the way James was smiling at you, you were glad you had to tell the truth.
“James, since you won Y/N’s hand in marriage, she can do the honors of giving you your truth or dare.” Sirius patted James on the back and winked at him. That had to have been some sort of secret message between them.
“Well then, I choose truth as well.”
It would be easy to ask him if he liked you or if he liked anyone. He would have no choice but to tell the truth and then you would know. If he did like you, maybe things could change and you would tell him the truth too. Of course if he didn’t, your heart may never recover. You had been friends with Lily before you were friends with the marauders. Every time James would flirt with Lily or even talk to her, your heart would flutter. He eventually stopped bothering her and they became friends which meant you also became his friend. It had been a couple of years now and the friendship with James was easy. He was so caring and he always took the time to check on you and make you laugh. He was easy to fall in love with.
“What was the last lie that you told?”
James hummed as he tried to remember, a blush coating his cheeks. “I think it must have been when I told Sirius I didn’t have a crush on anyone.”
So he did like someone! That someone could even be you. You couldn’t help getting your hopes up as you watched him rub the back of his neck and look at the ground. Sirius looked at you and smiled, actually smiled; he must have been thinking the same thing as you. “Prongs, is your crush here?”
James nodded.
“Then I vote you have to kiss them!” Sirius proposed and everyone cheered.
James paled and shook his head. “I can’t do that. Everyone will know and if they don’t like me then everyone else will see it happen.” He looked as terrified as you felt.
“How about,” Remus said and quieted the group, “we all close our eyes so we don’t see who he kisses. Sound alright to you Jamie?”
He shrugged and everyone closed their eyes, including you. Once darkness fell, so did the silence. No one moved or made a sound until across the way you could hear James shuffling. The sound of his movements got louder and you assumed, and hoped, he was moving toward you. Then, all of a sudden, the shuffling stopped. Could he have stopped in front of Lily? Could he have stopped in front of Peter? Your heart was pounding in your chest and you were sure the rest of the group, possibly even all of Hogwarts, could hear it thumping. What if he didn’t kiss you? Would you be able to continue on with the friendship knowing there was no possible chance it could blossom into something more? You wanted to believe you could but it was hard enough to look at that messy hair and his sweet hazel eyes and his perfectly pink lips without knowing his feelings. How could you ever look at him again if you knew he felt nothing more for you than friendship?
What if he did kiss you? Would you kiss him back or would you be too shocked? What if he kissed you and you forgot how to kiss? What if you sucked at kissing and it made him change his mind? What if it was magical and everything you dreamed it would be and you started dating and then eventually you broke up? Would it ruin the friendship? Was it worth the risk of losing him to even try and get him in the first place? You were never going to confess to him.
Your heart was beating faster and faster and all the air in your lungs escaped you. Your head was spinning and your thoughts were racing. Was the room always this hot or was it just you? Why was it still so quiet? Did something happen and you missed it? Had James kissed someone else and told everyone to open their eyes and you were sitting there with your eyes closed like an idiot? It was too much.
Your eyes flew open and you jumped back; James was right in front of your face with worry written all over his. His eyebrows furrowed and he grabbed your hand, steadying it. You didn’t even know you were shaking. “Hey, are you alright?”
You stared at him with wide eyes and glanced around him. Everyone else had opened their eyes and they were now watching you both. The air shot back in your lungs and your chest heaved as you tried to get your breathing under control. James continued to watch you, waiting for some kind of answer. When you didn’t have one for him, he grabbed your hand and helped pull you to your feet. “Let’s go to my dorm and get some air.” He started to lead you to the stairs but turned to look at the group one last time. “We’ll be back down in a bit. Just, stay here and give us some time?”
He put a hand on the small of your back to help guide you up the stairs. Once you were in the dorm, he grabbed your hand and pulled you over to his bed, helping you sit. “Stay right there.” He whispered before rushing around the room and throwing open all of the windows. The fresh air coming in did help calm your breathing. Your mind was still racing but as James sat next to you and you listened to the sound of the rain outside, your thoughts began to slow.
James slowly wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to his side. “What happened?” He whispered. “I was crawling around and I could hear you breathing all heavy. Then you started shaking and I was going to check on you and then you kinda scared the shit out of me and opened your eyes.”
A small smile appeared on your face as you laid your head on his shoulder. James really could always make you smile. The smile didn’t stay long as you began speaking. “I was scared you were going to kiss someone else but I was scared you were going to kiss me. I started overthinking everything and I just got nervous.” The words flew out of your mouth before you could even think about what you were saying.
“Why were you scared?” James whispered and you could feel his body tense next to you.
“Because I’m in love with you.” Holy shit. Why did you say that? “I didn’t want you to kiss anyone else because I would never be able to look at you the same if I knew you thought of me as just a friend. But I was scared you were going to kiss me because then things would change and if something ever went wrong, I couldn’t live without you.” You just poured out your deepest secret about James to James. What were you doing? You decided to never tell James about your crush so why did you say it? You scanned the room, hoping that maybe there would be some answer and there was. Laid out on one of the beds was Remus’s favorite sweater. Remus.
The veritaserum! It was still working and it just made you spill your guts to James. You shoved yourself away from him and covered your mouth with your hands. James watched you with wide eyes but neither one of you moved.
Your chest was rising and falling rapidly as you watched him as well. What could you possibly say to make this better? “I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to tell you because I was so worried that it would ruin our friendship but that stupid potion really does work well and I couldn’t help myself. I want to say I’ll be fine if you don’t like me but I probably won’t be alright. I love you so much James but if you don’t love me in any sort of romantic way then I’ll have to live with it. Just please, don’t hate me; don’t leave me.”
James swallowed thickly and pushed his glasses further up his face. His cheeks were bright red and his bottom lip was pulled between his teeth. “Do you really love me?”
“Of course I do.” You dropped your hands from your mouth. You didn’t have to continue as you already answered his question truthfully but the damage was done. There wasn’t any more harm you could do if you told him why. “You’re the most amazing guy I know. You’re funny even when I lie and tell you I hate your jokes. You can make me smile no matter what kind of day I’m having. You make me feel special and loved and when I talk you give me your full attention. You remember my favorite book and my favorite food and you always remember my birthday. You’re perfect James. How could I not love you?”
His eyes traced over your body a few times before they stopped on your face. The way he was looking at you, the intensity of it all, made you want nothing more than to shy away. But you couldn’t. You had to see this through to whatever end. “Do you… do you love me too?” You whispered, unsure if he could even hear you.
“I do. I love you Y/N.” Time stopped as he spoke. You weren’t even sure if you were breathing anymore. Could this be a dream? It was only fitting that the man of your dreams confessing his love for you would happen in a dream. Gingerly, James reached out and took your hand. He was warm and a little sweaty; James always got sweaty hands when he was nervous. His palm was heavy on top of yours and as he scooted closer to you, you decided that if this was a dream, you didn’t want to wake up anytime soon.
He stopped moving when his face was just centimeters away from yours. “Can I kiss you?” This close you could see the deep browns and brilliant greens in his eyes. You could smell the cologne he put on after each quidditch match.
“Please.” That was all it took. He leaned forward and planted his lips on yours, softly at first but soon he leaned in further. His arms wrapped around your torso as your hands threaded through his hair. Your lips moved together in perfect harmony and you could no longer tell where you began and he ended. Desperate for more, you climbed onto his lap and your noses bumped.
“Ow shit.” James quickly pulled back and covered his nose with his hand. In the moment you had forgotten all about his poor nose.
“I’m so sorry James.” You whispered but soon started to laugh. Nothing was exactly funny but something about the whole situation was hilarious. James joined in your laughter and shook his head. As the giggles died down, he rested his forehead on yours.
“I should probably see Madam Pomfrey about my nose in the morning. I did hit the ground pretty hard.” James smiled and pecked your lips.
“What happens now?” You whispered, tucking some hair behind his ear.
“Besides finding some ice for my nose?”
“Yes,” you laughed. “Besides that.”
James hummed and rested his hands on your hips. “How about after my nose gets fixed I’ll take you on a date? We can go to the Three Broomsticks and take a walk. Maybe get some candy?”
“I’d like that a lot.”
“Splendid.” He mumbled and leaned in again, attaching his lips to yours. The dormitory door swung open and you quickly pulled away from him. Sirius stood in the doorway and as he took in the sight of you on his best friend’s lap and James still leaned in for a kiss, he smirked that same wicked smirk.
“Well, pardon me.” He winked at James and turned around, shutting the door behind him. You could still hear him yell, “Moony! Wormtail! We’re sleeping on the couch tonight boys! Prongs finally got the girl!”

The Morning After
Series Masterlist
Sirius Black x Fem!Slytherin!reader
1.3k words
cw: fluff
The next morning, you aren’t talking to anyone. You are far too in your head with conflicted feelings about yesterday’s date to converse with anyone. But that doesn’t mean that you don’t feel all the eyes on you. Word of your date with Sirius had quickly spread beyond your friend group. There are whispers accompanying the stares but your ‘don’t talk to me’ face wards off any questions directed at you, for the most part.
“Well?” Regulus asks as soon as you sit down across from him at breakfast.
Dorcas leans her elbow on the table so she can get a full look at you. Instead of answering Regulus, you reach for a mug in front of you and it’s filled with tea by the time it reaches your lips. Regulus waits a moment after you set the mug down before giving Dorcas a pleading look.
“How was it?” Dorcas asks.
You hum. “Could use some sugar. Can you pass it?”
Regulus holds out the container of sugar cubes for you.
“We’re not talking about your tea,” he says. His voice is teetering on impatience.
“No?” you retort blandly. You didn’t want to talk about the date until you knew how you felt about it.
“How was your day with Sirius?” Dorcas asks.
You take another sip of your tea and nod.
“Much better,” you mumble.
Dorcas and Regulus share an annoyed look.
“Can’t you just get the rundown from Marlene later?” Pandora asks Dorcas with a hand gesturing toward the Gryffindor table. “Seems like Sirius is more talkative this morning.”
Sure enough, when you turn around, you can see Sirius deep in a lively conversation. He’s surrounded by his usual crowd, all of whom are leaning in, captivated by whatever he’s talking about. James throws his head back laughing as Marlene says something. By the looks of the rest of the group’s reaction, it was an insult aimed at Sirius.
Facing Regulus again, you sigh. “It was… fine. He wasn’t a complete arse.”
Dorcas’ face lit up. She had hoped the date went well because if you started actually dating Sirius, she’d have another Slytherin in their Gryffindor group. The Gryffindor group that already liked you.
“Sooooo, will there be another?” she asks eagerly.
Your face snaps towards hers. “I don’t know,” you say bitterly. “Maybe? Probably not?” You groan and rub your temples. “Can we talk about something else?”
“Like what?” Dorcas crosses her arms. She obviously wants to know every detail about  your date and why there won’t be a second one.
“Isn’t there a quidditch match coming up? Last one of the term?”
“Yeah, but that’s not nearly as interesting as-”
You threw a slice of toast at Regulus to shut him up.
“Talk about quidditch or I’m eating in silence.”
---
At that moment, you want to be left alone so you can work on your assignments. You can’t work in your dorm, Dorcas and Pandora would hound you for details about the date. You can’t work in the common room, same thing but with Regulus and maybe Evan and Barty since they were nosy. You drag yourself to the library and search for an empty table that’s semi-out of sight. You really hope people respect the unwritten rules of the library that when someone is working, you leave them alone.
For the most part, they do. You are completely unbothered minus the few lingering stares and too-loud whispered comments. You work through it. It’s nothing too disruptive and one harsh glance from you often sent the culprits scurrying off.
“-made progress, Moony. I really think she’s warming up to me!”
That voice. You stop writing, eyes wide as you continue to stare at your parchment.
“That’s great, Padfoot, really, but can you help look for the book?”
“She confirmed that I’m attractive.”
“I know.”
“That has to mean something.”
“Maybe…”
“She didn’t say she wouldn’t write over Christmas!”
“Sirius!” The second voice, that you recognized as Remus, was growing irritated. “We can talk about her later. The Charms essay is a bit more pressing right now.”
The Charms essay. The one you were currently working on and had snagged several books for. You hear Sirius let out a soft groan. You look up in time to see them appear from the shelves next to you. Sirius pales slightly, realizing you probably just heard everything he said. You give them an awkward smile.
“Which book were you looking for? ‘Fraid I might’ve grabbed it,” you offer.
Remus approaches your table, leaving Sirius where he stood. “Tunnels and Tombs of Moldova.”
You scan the table and spot it among the pile of books you haven’t looked at yet. You point at it.
“You can take it. Just bring it back when you’re done?”
“Thanks,” Remus says quickly, grabbing the book and heading off to wherever he and Sirius are set up.
Sirius is still standing just beyond the bookshelf aisle he emerged from. He’s staring at you, waiting for you to say something.
“You better go with him, Sirius,” you say after a moment. “I doubt Remus will write your entire essay for you.”
Instead of following Remus, Sirius walks up to your table, standing at your shoulder and looking down at your essay.
“You did enjoy yourself yesterday, yeah?”
It’s one of the few times you’ve heard him sound so uncertain, so unsure of what your answer would be. You tear your eyes from your essay to look into his grey eyes. The uncertainty isn’t just in his voice but etched onto his face. Like he really cares what you have to say.
“It… it wasn’t bad. Don’t think I’ll be writing to you over Christmas, but you know,” you say earnestly.
He runs a hand through his hair.
“So that’s a ‘no’ on a second date then?”
Part of you wants to laugh. Did he really think you were interested? Were you interested?
“Sirius…”
“Yeah?”
“Ask me again after the next quidditch match.”
The widest grin spread across his face, his eyes lighting up.
“So there’s a chance! You are warming up to me!”
You give him a gentle shove in the center of his chest, causing him to take a step backwards.
“Don't push it, Black,” you warn as you turn back to your essay and reach to grab a new book from the pile.
There is silence again so you assume that Sirius left your side to find Remus. You end up not needing the book that Remus borrowed from you. You finish the essay without it. You move onto your other homework and are about done when Remus comes back, holding the book.
“Oh, are you leaving?” he asks, confused.
You nod as you finish stacking the books on the table.
“Are you done with that book? You can just set it on the stack and I’ll get ‘em put away.”
Remus steps forward cautiously and puts the book on top of your pile. He’s eyeing you carefully.
“Are you playing with him?”
Remus’ tone is almost accusatory, which takes you aback. You focus on putting all of your work back into your bag as you answer him.
“No? I don’t think so? What do you mean?”
“I know you heard him when we were over here. Made him jump through some hoops to get you on a date. And now you’ve given him hope that there’ll be a second date. He’s giddy ‘bout it.”
Standing up straighter, you say, “I need time to figure some things out.”
“Hm.”
You watch Remus walk away before turning to tap the stack of books with your wand so they would return to their places. Sirius is giddy about the chance of a second date? You think that’s a bit of an overreaction, but you’re not sure if you can talk since you don’t know how you feel about him. He was so concerned about if you had a good time yesterday. You had had a good time. You’d be damned if you told anyone that right now. The more you thought about it, you didn’t not have a good time every time you were around him. Maybe if you got to know him a little bit more…

Lovely Timing
Remus Lupin x Reader
Masterlist
Summary: everyone has been teasing the reader since first year about their crush on Remus Lupin. To the point that they had given up any hope of him liking them back. Only to discover they were in the same boat all along.
Remus Lupin Masterlist
Tumblr media
The train ride back to Hogwarts was either the best or worst part of the Hogwarts experience. Sometimes it was both. It’s a long train ride.
You hadn’t seen your friends all summer due to a family vacation. So you were catching up with Lily Evans, Marlene Mckinnon, and Mary MacDonald for the first time in three months. Everyone had a lot to say.
“You grew your hair out!” Mary exclaimed as soon as you walked into the cart. You smiled at her and pushed said hair back behind your shoulders.
“I’m just trying it out,” you say.
“Are those new clothes? You look amazing,” Marlene said. You smiled at her and glanced down at the clothes you were wearing.
“Oh, yeah. My parents let me redo my wardrobe. Like a seventh year gift or something,” you said. The girls nodded and you all got comfortable in the seats to start talking. About an hour into the ride, Remus opened the door and walked in, shutting it and locking it behind him.
“Hi, Remus, come on in,” Marlene said sarcastically. Remus turned to look at all of you and rolled his eyes.
“Sirius put on his music and is giving a concert. I just want to nap,” he said, looking at Marlene.
“Well, there’s not much room for a giant to lay down on one of our seats,” she said, crossing her arms. Mary got up from next to you.
“Here, I can sit with them,” she said and you didn’t miss the wink she sent you. You had a very well known crush on Remus Lupin. All your friends knew about it. And all your friends were all his friends. So naturally you assumed he knew about it as well. Remus looked at Mary and shook his head.
“No need, I am just going to lay down on the ground.” Mary raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
“And you think Marls won’t kick you? What gave you that confidence?” She said. Remus glanced at a smirking Marlene. All three girls seemed to excited to get Remus to sit next to you, and you knew he knew that. However he just nodded and took Mary’s seat while Mary sat in between Marlene and Lily. You glared at all three of them and then you notice how all three of them seemed to be holding in a laugh. You knit your brows together.
“What?” Then you glance at Remus and see that his eyes are already on you. It made you tense up a little. Remus rarely looked at you unless you were talking in the group or class or something. His eyes weren’t on yours. They were wandering like he had never seen you before. You shift a little, glancing at your friends for help but Mary just buried her face in Lily’s shoulder.
Remus quickly looked away from you and cleared his throat. “Oh, um, sorry.” You look away too, not sure how to speak anymore you just nod. It took a grand total of five minutes for all three other marauders boys to be knocking at your door. Remus groaned and stood up, opening the door.
“Why’d you leave, Moony? I was in the middle of Killer Queen,” Sirius said. Remus rolled his eyes.
“Exactly.” Sirius put a hand to his heart and gasps.
“Moony, are you… are you trying to tell me you don’t like Queen.”
“I don’t mind Queen. I don’t like your version of it.” Sirius claps his hands over his mouth and wipes away fake tears.
“Come on, we’ve convinced him to turn off the music,” James said. Sirius waved his hands and shook his head.
“No. No way. I can’t be near him right now,” he said and stole the seat next to you by plopping down. Then he looked over at you and grinned.
“Oh, hey, Y/N. You’re lookin’ great! How far back in line am I with you as beautiful as that?” You raise an eyebrow at him and scoff. Sirius had been practicing flirting with you since first year. He’d asked you in your first week of being friends if you could help him get girls by telling him how good his ‘lines’ were.
“End of the line, with that one, Sirius,” you said. He pouts and looks over at his friend. Remus was glaring at him and he clearly saw that. Then he looked back at you and grinned again.
“Who would be first, then?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Why ask stupid questions, just to be a jerk?” You ask. Sirius put his hands up in surrender and his mouth fell open into and O shape.
“I don’t want you to hate me!” You just rolled your eyes.
“Leave us alone Sirius. We’ll see you later,” you said. He pouts again.
“I have to go with the Queen hater?” He asked, giving you puppy dog eyes. You nodded slowly and Remus took a step towards him, grabbing the back of his collar and pulling him up.
“You heard her. Lets go,” he said. He pushed Sirius out of the door and followed the rest of his friends out as well. Ten seconds pass after the door shuts before all three girls erupt in giggles in front of you.
“What?”
“Took her long enough!” Marlene exclaimed.
“That was ridiculous!” Lily exclaimed.
“I can’t believe it’s finally happened!” Mary said through her giggles.
“What are you talking about?” You said. Mary hops up and sits next to you again.
“Remus! He’s head over heels for you, and you just saw it first hand,” she said, placing a hand down on the cushion next to you. You blink at her and finally laugh.
“Have you lost your mind?”
“You are so oblivious! He has always had his eye on you!” Lily exclaimed and you rolled your eyes. Your friends had been teasing you about Remus for years, trying to convince you he liked you back. You couldn’t agree. Remus wouldn’t even acknowledge you if it wasn’t for your friends. “And the way he looks at you!” Lily was grinning from ear to ear.
“It’s the way James looks at this one.” Marlene said, gesturing to Lily, who blushed.
“The way Dorcas looks at Marlene,” Mary said. Lily cleared her throat.
“Frank looks at Alice,” she said. You blink at all of them, seeing that they were being completely serious.
“You have officially lost it. All of you.” Lily and Marlene rolled their eyes.
“Just wait, Y/N, he’s obsessed with you, you’ll see,” Mary said.
“You think that based on one look?” You ask incredulously. They look between each other before nodding. You just rolled your eyes and sat back.
When you got to Hogwarts, everyone went to the Dining hall. The marauders boys always sat with you and your friends. James sat next to Lily and you sat across from her. Remus sat in between you and Sirius, and Mary was next to you. You noticed all your friends smirking at you and you just glared at them as you sat through Dumbledore’s speech.
As you were walking back to the common room, Mary and Marlene were in a deep discussion about Marlene’s next date with Dorcas. Sirius and Peter were discussing a movie they’d seen and James and Lily were walking a little ahead of all of you. Leaving you awkwardly walking with Remus.
“I’m sorry about Sirius earlier,” he said. You look at him and shrug.
“It’s no big deal. Sirius does it all the time,” you said. He nods a little and stuck his hands in his pockets.
“Yeah.” You raise an eyebrow at him. You probably watch Remus more than anyone else in the world. You know his looks. You know when he’s concentrated, angry, excited, happy, tired, frustrated, upset, and when he’s anxious. He looked frustrated.
“Are you alright?” You asked. Remus looked at you. Remus, the tallest boy you’d ever met looked down at you but it never felt like he was looking down on you in a bad way. He shook his head a little.
“Just a little tired,” he said. You rolled your eyes and shake your head. “What?”
“You’re not that tired,” you said. He raised an eyebrow at you.
“And what makes you think that?” You scoff and glance at him for a split second.
“When you’re tired your eyes get all heavy like you’re trying to keep them open and you slouch. When you’re angry or something, your brows scrunch up a little and you tense up.” You gesture to him slightly with your hand without really looking at him. “And you posture gets abnormally perfect.” He doesn’t say anything for a moment.
“I do that?” He asked. You nod a little, crossing your arms over your chest as you pass the open windows. Remus took off his jacket and put it around your shoulders before you even had time to process what was happening. You look at him and shake your head a little, moving to pull it off.
“I don’t really need-” Remus cuts you off and puts an arm over your shoulders to keep the jacket there. When you put your arms down, he lets go.
“Come on, I saw you shiver like two minutes ago,” he said. You blinked up at him, not even remembering the moment yourself. “Besides, it looks better on you anyways.” You felt a blush climbing up your neck and onto your cheeks. “Ya know, Sirius is annoying as hell, but he was right about one thing.”
“You are a Queen hater?” You asked sarcastically. A small smile climbed onto him beautiful face.
“No,” he said, rolling his eyes. “You really are gorgeous.” You couldn’t breathe. You always said Remus Lupin would make you pass out one of these days, but now you thought today might truly be that day. Remus Lupin just called you gorgeous and suddenly nothing else mattered in the entire universe.
“You think I’m gorgeous?” His brows drew together, causing wrinkles on his forehead. He stepped a little closer to you, his confusion evident.
“Why do you say it like that?” He asked. “Of course I do. I always did.” You drop your head a little, your entire body tingling with anxiety and heat.
“Well, I’ve been trying to get your attention forever, and it sort of just always felt like you didn’t care,” you admitted, knowing how all of your friends teased you about the crush for the past few years. You’d always known Remus knew you liked him, you just knew he didn’t like you back so you just went on with your lives like it wasn’t happening. Remus just blinked at you.
“You really fancy me?” He asked. That just felt cruel so you lifted your head up and glared at him.
“There’s no need to be mean, Remus,” you said. He shook his head quickly and took another small step towards you.
“No! I wasn’t trying to… oh,” he stopped himself and squeezed his eyes shut. He glanced over at your friends who had continued walking without the two of you, not even noticing how you two had disappeared. You crossed your arms tight against your chest and looked down. “I always thought you were beautiful,” he said. You didn’t look up at him despite the swarming in your stomach. “I just figured everyone was teasing because of the crush I had on you in second year.” You snapped your head up at that, your eyes widening.
“You liked me?” He nodded and glanced down at his hands in his pockets.
“Yeah, a lot. I just tried to shove it down and move on when the teasing started. I thought it would stop eventually,” he rolled his eyes and you felt yourself deflate. He liked you five years ago and had spent all that time getting over it while you were just becoming more and more addicted to everything about him. You both were silent for a moment.
Finally you take a deep breath. “They were teasing because of me,” you said, unable to look at him again. “It’s truly become a bit of a problem how bad this has gotten.” He didn’t say anything for a moment and you don’t look at him.
“How bad what has gotten?” You squeeze your eyes shut, willing one of your friends to come over and save you from this dreadful conversation.
Finally you look up at him and find his eyes ready to meet yours. Your breath hitched. The sincere curiosity and confusion in his eyes made it a million times worse. “I’ve liked you since basically the end of first year, Remus.” He blinks at you, leaning back slightly like the sentence had actually been a gust of wind he didn’t expect. “It’s horrible, because functioning in your general vicinity is nearly impossible. All I can think about is not making a fool of myself around you,” you added. Now you had finally admitted it and there was no going back now. Remus knew how you felt about him. It made you nervous but also felt like a weight lifted off your shoulders.
The boy you’d been dreaming about for years finally knew how you felt.
“I get that you don’t like me anymore, Remus. And… and that’s fine,” you said and took a deep breath. “I just didn’t think you need to keep thinking you’re the source of the teasing when it is entirely my fault.”
“You’ve liked me since first year?” He asked. You sighed and looked him in the eye again.
“That’s all you’re focused on? Look, nothing has to change. You don’t like me and I understand that. I always have. I don’t want things to be awkward now just because I vocalized what everyone already knew.”
You go to take a step in the direction of your friends when Remus grabbed your wrist, stopping you. You frowned a little and looked at him again. “I didn’t know you liked me,” he said. You blinked at him, shaking your head.
“Our friends have been saying it for years, Remus, I know you knew,” you said. He shook his head.
“No, I didn’t. I knew my friends teased me about a beautiful girl liking me. I just thought is was ridiculous. I had no idea why you would like me,” he said. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms again, pulling out of his grip.
“Come on, Remus.” He gave you an extremely confused look and you huff out a breath, letting your arms fall. “Remus, you have always been the most perfect boy around. You’re handsome, you’re smart, you’re funny, you’re one of the most loyal people I know, but apparently you’re an idiot also.” He just stared at you for a moment. Then a small smile popped onto his face. Remus always had the capability to make you swoon you just tried not to show it.
“I don’t think I’m the only idiot here,” he said. Your eyes widened and you stared at him for a moment.
“Excuse me?” He rolled his eyes and took a step closer to you again.
“I tried to make my feelings go away. I never said I succeeded.” You blinked up at him, your throat going dry. You try to clear your throat but it doesn’t really help.
“What are you trying to say, then?” You say, lifting your head up and raising an eyebrow. Remus just smiles at you, causing any remaining confidence to fade because that smile will surely make you pass out.
“So stubborn…” he said. “I like you, y/n.” You can’t breathe. You don’t say anything and he raises an eyebrow. Finally he nods and continues again. “I could tell you everything I like about you but I think we’d be here a while.” You finally blink out of your trance, blushing as red as a tomato.
“You’ll have to write it down, then,” you say sarcastically. He just smiles at you.
“I’ll get on that.” You smile a little and his eyes brush over your face for a moment. “So, will you go on a date with me?” Your eyes widen at the question. He waits for a moment for your response.
You freeze for half a second before processing that he really asked that and it wasn’t just your imagination. “Yes,” you finally say softly before clearing your throat and trying again. “Yes, I would love that, actually.” He grinned at you and stepped up to you again.
“Perfect. First Hogsmeade trip is on Sunday. Would you like to go out with me then?” You nod, not fully trusting your capability to speak. His smile is unwavering. This isn’t a joke. You really are going on a date with Remus Lupin.
You and the girls were going to be up all night talking about this.

Hi lovely, i hope youre having a good day.
Could i request a poly!maruaders (maybe +lily or bff lily) where reader is either muggleborn or a half-blood and does every day tasks normally (ie. redecorating, dying hair, climbimg to get something up high, looking for something theyve lost, painstakingly repairing something, trying to navigate in the dark). Maybe reader has convinced lily and Remus to help her spring clean and redecorate and they both just automatically go about it a muggle way. And when Sirius and James come to find them later theyre so confused because for them thats always been done with magic.
I have sent a very similar request to someome else before (think its been 2+ months) but i dont think they posted for it. Just in case they do i wanted to let you know. Also no pressure.
Regardless, i love you 🩶
Hi angel! I decided to do this with platonic (or, if you like, pre-relationship) marauders+Lily, and I know you said spring cleaning but my roomie and I just decorated for Halloween and I’ve got that on the brain so I’ve taken more than one liberty haha but I hope you like it <33 Love you too!!
platonic!marauders (+Lily) x reader ♡ 1.1k words
“Do you think this would look alright here?” you ask, stretching your arm as high as you can to pin the middle of the leafy garland to the wall.
Lily hums contemplatively. “I don’t think that’s quite the middle. A bit to the left?”
You reach leftwards, tottering on your stepping stool, and Remus steadies you with his hands at your waist before you can fall.
“Here, I’ve got it,” he offers, encouraging you to step down and taking your place. He makes the reach look easy (it’s hardly a reach for him, you suppose), taping the garland in place. “How’s that?” he asks, and you step back beside Lily, assessing.
“It looks great,” you decide. “Thanks!”
“‘Course, love.” He grins at you as he steps down, going back to dusting off your mantle. You’re immensely grateful for your friends’ help, the quiet between you companionable as you each work on your tasks, your Rumours record playing softly in the corner. You’d been a bit down about cleaning and decorating your first apartment all by yourself, and Lily had all but invited herself over, offering to keep you company. This morning, she’d shown up with Remus and a bucket full of cleaning supplies, and neither of them would hear your protests about not wanting them to labor for you. Remus had become immediately obsessed with all the dusty surfaces you’ve yet to clean since moving in a week ago, and Lily claims she’s going to make cookies after she’s finished cleaning the oven, so your apartment will smell cozy and homey.
You’re not sure how you managed to snag such fantastic friends, but just as you’re about to tell them so for the upteenth time since they’ve arrived, your door creaks open.
“You can’t just leave the front door unlocked,” James says, aghast. “You’re a young girl living on your own, shortcake. Exercise some caution.”
Sirius breezes by James with a small box in his hands, and you accept the one-armed hug he offers you with faint confusion. Your friends are welcome anytime, but you hadn’t been expecting anyone other than Lily today and you worry the apartment is far from guest-ready. “I usually lock it,” you defend yourself. “It’s just that we’ve been in and out all morning. Anyway, who’s going to murder me with everyone here?”
“Well, they won’t now that I’m here,” James allows, pecking you on the cheek amicably. “But if you were thinking Lily and Moony could defend you all by themselves, then I’m even more worried about you.” He receives matching exasperated glares from your friends, but ignores them, surveying the apartment. “This is a nice place you’ve got here.”
“Thanks.” You beam, proud of your little apartment. It had been a bit run-down when you’d first moved in, but the morning’s efforts have really brightened the space. “Did you come by to see it? I’m not sure it’s quite ready for a tour yet, unless you’re alright with dust.”
“A lot,” Remus says wearily, “of dust.”
“We thought we’d bring you a housewarming gift,” Sirius says, opening the lid of the box to reveal a cake. In cursive frosting, it reads Congratulations, graduate!, but someone’s struck through graduate and scrawled, in messy writing underneath, homeowner.
You laugh. “Thanks, that’s so sweet! Um, you guys know I’m renting this place, right?”
“We know,” Sirius agrees. “But apparently they only do custom writing if you order, like, way in advance, and we didn’t have enough room to put congratulations on your first big girl apartment ourselves.”
Remus snorts, but immediately begins sneezing after inhaling some dust from the mantle, and Lily comes over to admire the cake. “I think it’s lovely as it is,” she says, and you hastily agree. You love it, and you love them all the more for it, your sweetheart friends. “Still, Remus and I have been here all morning, so I think our housewarming gift is a bit better.”
James laughs disbelievingly. “What’s your gift?”
“Cleaning and decorating,” Remus says, having recovered from his fit. “Bit more of a time commitment than a cake.” His voice takes on a slight haughtiness, and Lily smirks.
“What, all day?” Sirius shakes his head. “That takes ten seconds.”
“Not the muggle way,” Lily says.
Sirius’ eyebrows shoot up, and James’ gaze sweeps over the room more intentionally, lingering on the unswept floor, the decorations still in their boxes. “Why in Merlin’s name would you do it the muggle way?” he sounds vaguely horrified. “We could charm this done right now.”
Sirius nods, sliding his wand from his sleeve as if he intends to do just that, but you clamp a hand around his wrist. “That takes all the fun out of it!”
“Dollface,” Sirius says slowly, looking at you like you’ve lost it, “how is laboring all morning to accomplish what could be done with a simple spell fun?”
You wave your hands about, gesturing vaguely to the room at large. “I don’t know, it’s about the simple things. You listen to music, and do things the slow way, and you get to choose where your stuff goes instead of letting the spell choose for you.”
“And,” Lily adds, “it’s satisfying to know that you did it yourself. Like these cookies, which are going to be way better than if I charmed them to bake themselves.” She pauses, glancing at the cake. “By the way, you’re going to have a ton of sweets on your hands, Y/N.”
“Oh, I was under no impression I’d be eating all this by myself,” you say, somewhat appalled. “Won’t you guys stay and help me with them? I can get us takeaway.”
Sirius and James help with more than that. Neither of them will touch a broom (frankly, they have trouble wrapping their heads around the idea that some are used for more than flying), but they help you arrange your fake pumpkins on the newly dusted mantle, and bicker over whether they should charm your candles to float like in the great hall or leave them on the coffee table.
By the time you make good on your offer of ordering takeaway, almost every crevice of your apartment has been cleaned, and it’s smelling like cookies and looking seasonally festive. Remus nips to the store to get a couple bottles of wine for you all, and you and James end up sitting on the floor to eat while Lily declares she’s taking you shopping for more chairs tomorrow. The cake is fantastic, but the company is better, and of all the things you’d wanted to decorate your first apartment with, you think you like filling it with your friends best.

For @help-i-need-a-cool-username
Sorry it took so long!
MCU Poolverine meets 97' pre-Morpherine?
Scott has a bad day...
“Are they…chittering at each other?”
“Like fucking stressed out cats.”
Sure enough, that was the sound.
“I’m sorry, he usually isn’t so…”
“Feral? Mine is, it’s good for them to let loose once in awhile, keeps the angry muppet faces from happening too often.”
“Yours does it too?,” Morph turned toward their new…friend?...acquaintance?, “so, I’m Morph and the short man doing the impression of a guard dog is Wolverine.”
“Deadpool and the taller man acting like a cat on catnip is my Wolverine! I like how yours is a short King with blue hair.”
“Thank you? Umm, yours is,” currently ripping a car tire off and chucking at his Logan, “destroying Cyclop's car?”
“Yeah, he does that, it makes him feel better.”
The tire went sailing by them as Logan dodged it, rolling out of the way, only to get tackled as soon as he stood up.
“What is going on out here-what happened to my car!?”
Sure enough, Scott was standing at the top of the mansion stairs having just exited, car keys dangling in one hand as he watched the visitor Logan get thrown backwards into it, turn midair to position himself to springboard off the car back towards the other Wolverine. The force of the ricochet pushing the vehicle sideways into the stone fence wall, getting stuck half through it.
“I was gone less then five minutes, I just came back to grab my wallet?!”
“The girls are fighting,” Deadpool ignores the confused look the X-men leader sent his way, and cupped his hands around his covered mouth, “Hey, Peanut, stop playing and come say hi. You’re making us look rude!”, he turned back to Morph, hands now going to his hips, “I’ve swear I’ve taught him manners, though maybe using whiskey as a motivator isn’t the best thing to teach him with.”
Both of the fighting men glanced over at the group, huffing a little before putting back their claws, still giving each other the side eye as they started to walk over.
Scott took a deep breath through his nose, turning toward his team member that wasn’t destroying the yard, “Morph, care to explain.”
“I don’t know what to tell you, the sky opened up and this two fell on top of us and Logan took some real offensive to be squished.”
“Took offensive to them squishing you, you can’t spring back up like I can.”
“Awe, there’s that Wolvie overprotection, a universal trait.”, the red clad hero threw his arm around his partner's shoulders and laying his head against his.
“I will and have thrown you into a mob of gunfire.”, the other Wolverine accepted the touches, even going as far as to look more relaxed.
“Only because you know I like it!”
Morph shared a look with their world’s Logan, the other giving a one shoulder shrug in confusion.
Scott seemed just as confused, “I’m sorry, he throws you into bullets?”
“Worried about little ole me!? Don’t be getting your Superhero panties in a twist, bullets can’t do shit to me, besides I enjoy it. Getting him riled up and being tossed across whole rooms is part of the fun of it.”
“Who are you two? Why are you destroying our stuff?”
“Jeez, Introductions again, fine, I’m Deadpool, again, and this is my Wolverine, again, if it gets too confusing for you to keep up with who is who, well, I like to call him, Peanut, Majesty, Honey Badger, Furiosa, Papi, Mami, Angel Face, Babygirl-“
“If you don’t pick something to call me, he is going to keep going.”
“-my meow meow, homeslice from the deep woods, Jessica-“
“Jessica?”
“Jessica it is!,” the man turned and pressed his covered lips to his partners cheek, giving a dramatic kissing sound, “Muah, the Jessica to my Roger Rabbit, the movie version of course.”
“Jessica”, let out a deep tired sounding sigh, “Just call me James.”
Scott turned toward the destroyed car then back to them, “Jessica.”
The newly dubbed ‘Jessica’ face went from neutral to scowling, Deadpool pinched his cheek, “and there’s the angry muppet face back with full force!”, he caught himself from falling over as he was shrugged off, giggling slightly as he refocused on the three bystanders, “Any who, you and everyone else is probably wondering what the hell is going on, and the truth is-“
“-Dumbass here ass dialed us to the wrong universe.”
Morph watched as Logan seemed to sniff the air, taking a half step toward the other him, who instantly noticed, they themselves ignored the situation that was about to happen and refocused on the man in red, “How do you “ass dial” to the wrong universe?”
“Mostly by failing a split and falling hard on the device in your back pocket, that may or may not be stolen, which takes you, your partner and your kids that were nearby into another universe-oh fuck-we gotta find mini-Wolvie and little Miss Mary.”
“Who?”
“Mine and Jessica’s babygirls! Mini takes right after her Daddy and Mary has my good looks!”
Morph blinked, “You two…together…have kids?”
“The dog is not a our kid!”, the Wolverine’s were circling each other again, more curious then ready to fight again.
“But you agree your mini is both of ours!”
Another slow blink before Morph leaned closer to Deadpool, ignoring Scott heading toward his destroyed car and the other two sniffing each other?, they plastered a big smile on their face, “So kids, partners, cute nicknames, sounds like you two are close.”
“More then just close, but don’t you worry, I’m pretty sure I don’t exist in this world, little off limits apparently, sooo,” the merc pulled the other closer to him, shoulder to shoulder as he directed their attention over to the two Wolverines trying to pull the car out of the fence wall as Scott directed them, “I gotta make sure my boy is taken care of in all worlds, and since I’m not here, that leaves that responsibility to you!”
“Excuse me, why would-“
“-Nope! No excuses with me around, either you get your shit together or I’m going to see if two Logan’s can live together, most likely no, but it will be fun to find out! Like having a full course meal with a little dessert on the side. Someone is going to be overstuffed in the end.”
The car rolled by them sideways, coming to a stop upside, Morph just sighed fondly as Logan waved at them before jumping up on the vehicle, the variant right behind them as they both stared down a fuming Scott, “How can you stay mad at him, look at him, he’s never seen the top of a shelf before.”
“See you get it, I bet you’re his Roger Rabbit too.”
They're side-eye could kill a person, “What does that mean?”
“Simple, you can make him laugh," there was a nonchalant one shoulder shrug, "you've already got a place in his heart with that gesture alone."
“…oh…”
“Look at that face, realization baby, bet his nose scrunches up and he snorts, bet he play fights with you, bet you get drinks together-“
“-please shut up, I’m having a crisis.”
“You’re an X-man…X-person?, whatever, you should be used to crisis, both personal and external by now, so nut up buttercup, we are going to get you your little stinky bear cat."
Deadpool gave them an enthusiastic thumbs up...Morph just sighed in resignation.

[3] Career Fair
Summary: James holds a parents' career fair, to which Liam's mom is invited.
Notes: Marauders modern elementary school AU, kindergarten teacher!James Potter x nurse!reader, mom!reader x son!OC (Liam), inspired by this post by @ravishinglavishingluvr. Hah, remember last time where I said I was updating semi-regularly? Ok well I actually mean it now, I promise lmao. Not edited but I'll do that tomorrow. Also kinda short, sorry
A/N (1/8/2024): okok I came back here to change the names of some kids bc I forgot that this is a marauders au so I can use the names of like real kids from harry potter smhhhhh please don't get mad at me this is my first time writing an au
Previous Part: Seeing Each Other Around Town Next Part: Liam and James Make You A Birthday Gift Series Masterlist here
Tumblr media
James ended up pushing the career fair back a couple weeks because there was a conflict in the schedule
(not because you emailed him back saying you wouldn’t be able to come the day he had originally planned it)
(and definitely not because he asked you to send him your shift schedule so he could make sure you could come, and you were working overtime for two weeks straight)
(James was pretty sure your work schedule violated some labor laws or something, but he was in no place to question you)
Liam is soooo excited for the couple days leading up to the career fair
Because his mom is cool af and he can’t wait to show everybody just how badass you are
(You had Liam pretty young, so you’re totally the parent who all the kids think is the coolest person alive and who all the kids’ older siblings have crushes on and who all the kids’ parents judge because of your age and assume you’re irresponsible, but we don’t have to talk about that)
James is also excited because he hasn’t had a real conversation with you in a couple weeks and he really just wants to talk to you
Poor Sirius and Remus have had to deal with him swooning and fawning and over you and also helping him frantically prepare for this career fair because “guys it HAS to be perfect”
But at long last, the day finally arrives
James scheduled the career fair in the afternoon so he could threaten children with canceling the event if they misbehave, so both he and his kids are bouncing off the walls in excitement all morning
He eats lunch in the library with Remus and Sirius, and they both spend the entire time hyping him up
(It’s mostly Sirius tho)
“You’ve got this, Prongs—be smooth—be nice—you’re a nice bloke, that’s not gonna be a problem for you—”
And eventually, it’s time
The parents that are participating in the fair arrive ten minutes before James has to get the kids from the cafeteria so he can explain to them what’s going to happen (because god knows the majority didn’t read the goddamn email he sent)
You’re a little late (profusely apologizing again, and it reminds James of the first time you met back at parent-teacher conferences) but you read the email the night before (and take another piece of James’ heart hostage while you’re at it) so it’s no worries
James’ summary instructions take a shorter amount of time than expected, so the ten or so parents all get to talking
And ofc James takes this opportunity to talk to you
You’d emailed back and forth about the fair but you hadn’t really talked in person since that night in the grocery store, and James was starting to feel like he’d die if he went another day without talking to you
So he’s plotting his route to you across the classroom when he notices you’ve secluded yourself a few steps away from the majority of the parents’ conversation
James is also horrified to discover you look slightly uncomfortable
Like you’re somewhere you don’t belong
And of course James can’t have that
So he sidles up next to you and asks how your day is going, if your boss gave you a hard time getting off work early, how the chocolate chip cookie dough from a month and a half ago was—anything he can think of, really
By the time James has to go get the kids from the cafeteria, you’re smiling and laughing, and James desperately wants to keep you like that all the time
He shakes himself out of his daydreamy state on the way to the cafeteria because this is your JOB, James, you can’t be distracted by your favorite student’s mom. His sweet, kind, whip-smart, dazzling … mom …
(In the back of his mind, James knows he’s screwed, he just has no idea what to do about it)
(CERTAINLY not act on it, because that would be a complete conflict of interest and totally unprofessional of him)
(But it’s just a crush)
(It’s fine)
(Right?)
ANYWAY
Liam’s on the lookout for you as soon as he steps through the door, and he beams the sweetest little chubby-cheeked smile when he finds you and points you out to his friends
You wink playfully at him, and he and his friends giggle excitedly as they sit in their seats
If James is being completely honest with himself, the career fair was a little disappointing
The majority of the parents’ presentations were kinda lame
And they didn’t make their jobs understandable or appealing for the kids
Dean's mom (she’s regional manager of a popular grocery store chain) complained to the class about her boss pretty much the whole time
Luna’s father, a rather eccentric professor at the local university, just spewed a bunch of nonsense technical jargon about the soul or the meaning of life or something that not even the adults in the room could understand
And Draco's dad (he owns the local insurance company and is just obscenely wealthy, which explains quite a bit of his son's attitude) straight up said he hated his job, so there’s that
But then there was your presentation
James is sure he’s in love by now because you made being a nurse sound so amazing
You talked about how you’re in charge of taking care of people when they’re sick or hurt, how it’s nice to be able to help people, how even when your job gets hard, you feel like you’ve made a positive impact at the end of the day
Once the parents left, James asked the kids who’s presentation they liked the most
And ofc every kid in that room agreed that yours was the best
And a solid 75% said they wanted to be a nurse lmao and he was just so proud
Proud of his kids and also you because your presentation was just so fucking good
As James is taking the kids out to the buses, Liam thanks him for inviting you to the career fair
Ofc James says it was no problem and that you’re really cool, so it was a pleasure to have you there
And Liam kinda gives James this … look … and is like “… yeah, my mom is cool …”
And James gets this horrible feeling that Liam somehow knows
Knows he’s completely smitten for Liam’s mom
Fallen head over heels
Practically in love at this point (though James has a nasty habit of throwing that word around willy-nilly)
(Liam kinda freaks James out a bit sometimes lmao)

The Best Fun
Super silly, short fic for @jilytoberfest Day 6: Food disasters
Because we all know Sirius would be the one to experiment with muggle drugs~ AO3 link here!
“Prongs—don’t be angry.”
Peter stood with his back against the Fat Lady who screamed at him to be unhanded. His arms were outstretched but his face was riddled with absolute fear.
“Can’t say I love hearing that from you, Wormy.”
If Peter had been sent to ward him off, that meant that the other two marauders must be shit deep in whatever laid beyond the portrait hole. Usually, the prospect of something to spice up his evening would perk his spirits, but tonight was a rare exception.
He had been forced to do patrols with Chloe Sparrow due to the fact that she had been favoring her fellow Slytherins during her rounds. Although it had been his idea, it didn’t help that it took away precious time patrolling with Lily. Then, as he had come to find out, it also meant the night would be filled with a strange mixture of semi racist remarks and what James could only refer to as a grotesque version of flirting, ending in Chloe being sent back to her dorms before she could smack his arse another time.
So in short, James’ bullshit threshold was reaching max capacity.
“So—do you just want to tell me or do I need to pretend to struggle past you…”
Peter started to look visibly sweaty and backed off of the Fat Lady who, now free from her smothering, chirped insults under her breath.
“Uhm. So before I say anything, you should know Lily wanted to, so—”
“Peter.”
James was losing patience fast. He had expected the lads to have done something, sure, but Lily was a development he wasn’t ready for. From his tone alone, it all came tumbling out of Peter like a single word.
”Pads made some stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?”
Peter’s eyes shifted. “Muggle stuff—said something about how that band,The Beagles or whatever, used it to—”
James walked up to his mate who jumped out of the way before he could even attempt to push through.
Trudging through the portrait hole, Peter kept fast on his feet, babbling excuses like a mosquito hovering to feed.
“Again! She wanted to! Even helped a bit! Moony didn’t stop them!”
A voice drawled out from the center of the common room. “Thanks for ratting me out Wormy.”
Remus laid reclined on the length of the couch, book in one hand while a cigarette hung from his lips.
James took stock of the room. The only thing that looked remotely out of place was a tray of what looked like a dessert which had been ravenously attacked. A knife balanced on the baking tray.
“So where are they?”
Without any further elaboration Lupin tilted his head towards the fireplace and James took the two steps needed to get enough clearance to see over onto the ground. Lily was curled up in a ball, eyes closed and head resting on the stomach of a giant black dog, both completely asleep.
“Explain.” He used his head boy voice, but Remus only laughed.
“Sirius thought it would be a scream to make pot brownies—should have seen them about an hour ago—never seen two people hug and dance around so much in my life.”
Peter, who was still standing at the entrance of the portrait hole, pipped up in a quivering voice. “It was quite nice actually—Lily was so affectionate and—”
“And you didn’t call me? Didn’t think that I wanted to come try muggle drug food too?”
James looked down at his sleeping girlfriend who buried her nose into Sirius’ stomach, hands curling around the fur, blissfully unaware that the animal she was laying on could be anything other than a dog.
“You all knew I’ve always wanted to do this, Moony! Honestly, I’m hurt!”
“Sorry mate, it just happened.”
James crouched down next to Lily’s sleeping form, brushing some of her hair from her face. At his touch, her eyes blinked open, a brilliant glassy green, slightly bloodshot, looked up at him.
“Oh Baby! You’re back!” She lifted up and threw her arms around his neck, nuzzling her nose into his collar.
“Oh I just love you! Wow, you smell so good!”
Every word from her mouth sounded breathy and light, like the world was one big cloud with her on it. From behind him, Peter muttered: “See? I quite like her stoned” and Lupin just snorted in response.
“Have you met this dog? I love this dog.” She turned to wrap her arms back around a still sleeping Sirius, but James caught her, pulling her back into him.
“I have met the dog—that's ok, we can leave him alone now.” James cradled her to his chest and she melted into him, completely forgetting Sirius despite her comment seconds ago.
“I can see you had some fun tonight.”
She didn’t respond, rather looking up into his eyes before bursting into a laugh, grabbing both sides of his face and smashing their foreheads together.
“Brilliant fun. The best fun. But not as fun as you. I missed you.”
It was hard to feel upset about that. James scooped under her legs and carried her like a child over to the staircase which led up to the dorms. Laughter tumbled out of her mouth before becoming preoccupied with kissing his neck in quick, frantic pecks.
“I’m going to get her to bed before she decides she loves someone else—” Lily just squealed, wrapping her hands tighter around his neck in an attempt to get him to kiss her.
“If Sirius wakes up, tell him I’ll give him a running head start in the morning before I beat the shit out of him–.”
Remus didn’t look up from his book, eyebrows raised.
“Awfully kind of you Prongs.”
James started to climb the steps, Lily alternating between laughter and proclamations of love.
“Well–It’s the least I could do to repay him.”

Prompt 17 - Dust
@jegulus-microfic June 17, Word count 585
Previous part First part
James thrust the giant lion teddy into Regulus’s hands. He’d won it at the basketball stall. He beamed happily at Regulus’s stunned face. Remus had a matching look as he stared down at the giant wolf teddy Sirius had pressed into his hands.
“Thanks,” Regulus finally smiled after he’d collected himself.
“Thanks,” Remus echoed Regulus. Sirius grinned broadly and tossed James the keys to his car.
“You know where you’re going,” He said before dragging Remus into the backseat.
“Ugh,” Regulus groaned. “They’re going to be gross,” James chuckled and led Regulus over to his side of the car.
“They can’t reach the radio from back there, and I’ve heard that screaming chimps are supposed to be excellent for a driver’s concentration.” His stomach flipped when he saw the devilish look firmly plant itself on his boyfriend’s face.
“How about something for the ride,” He heard Regulus say cheerily as he walked to the driver’s side of the car.
James was glad his house was only ten minutes down the road and that the roads were mostly clear because the screaming chimps coming over the speakers and the equally loud screaming chimp in the back seat, cleverly disguised as a man with long black hair, were not good for a driver's concentration. He pulled into the gravelled driveway and crunched his way up to the house, relief flooding over him.
“Damn, Potter, are you loaded or something?” Remus asked, pushing Sirius back from between the front seats where he’d been trying to reach the radio, fighting against Regulus for the last ten minutes. James felt his neck flush with embarrassment.
“It’s my parent’s house, but yeah, the family is pretty wealthy. My dad invented the Harmony Hair Range.”
“NO WAY!!!” Sirius shoved Remus aside and yipped excitedly into James’s ear. “That’s what I use!”
“Wow,” Was all Regulus said, as he looked at the outside of the house again. He desperately needed to get them off the subject.
“Come on, let’s get inside or Mum’s going to come out and drag us in by our hair,” He watched as Sirius automatically gripped his curly hair as though she was already heading towards them.
He opened the front door and breathed in the smell of his childhood home. He loved this house. It might look immaculate to the untrained eye. Everything was tidy and not a speck of dust to be seen. But James could easily pick out the notch in the door frame where he’d crashed his brand-new bike when he was five. The glass pane on the left that was slightly different to the others where he’d tried to kick his shoe off and sent it sailing through the window, the discolouration in one spot on the ceiling where he’d decided it would be a good idea to test out the coke/mentos theory. It worked, and he’d been grounded for a month.
“Darlings, you're just in time,” Effie called to them as she entered the living room and enveloped each of them in a hug before ushering them into the dining room. James turned and pecked a kiss on her cheek before she could disappear to the kitchen to bring everything through.
“Do you want a hand, Mum?” He asked quietly.
“No, sweetheart, you go sit down, I won’t be a moment,” She replied, pushing him gently towards where Regulus was standing awkwardly. “Besides, I think he needs your help more than I do,” She said chuckling before twilling around into the kitchen.

♡ "oh god, you're bleeding"
I didn't reblog this prompt list weeks ago and am just doing it now I don't know why you would think that :)
microfic - jegulus - 700 words
“Oh God, You’re bleeding.”
“It’s not that bad,” James mumbles, clutching his side as he slips through the open window, he winces as he knocks against the wall.
Regulus' eyes go wide as he rushes over to him, helping him set himself on the bed, “Not that bad!”
James peels his mask off, carelessly throwing it aside, unveiling the bruises that completely cover his face and a broken lip, “It’s just a slight stab wound,” he brushes it off.
“You were stabbed!” Regulus exclaims, pushing at his arms to look at his stomach.
James sighs but let’s Regulus through anyway, he knows better, either way Regulus will look at the wound. No matter if he has to use force to get it. “Just slightly.”
“How can you be slightly stabbed,” Regulus questions.
James shrugs, “I got away before they could get it that deep.”
Regulus pauses, pulling back to look him in the eye, “Excuse me.”
James gives him a pointed look, “I’m fine,” he says, “Where’s Remus?”
“Sent him away,” Regulus says quickly, “Didn’t need him. Take off the suit.”
James rolls his eyes but starts to slip the suit from his torso regardless, “You don’t have to be jealous—“
“Not jealous,” Regulus says.
“Right,” James laughs lightly, but winces halfway through stopping himself, “Can you help?”
Regulus face falls making quick work of the suit, it peels against James’ wound, he flinches as Regulus pulls it away completely. His cold hands are soothing against his burning skin he almost wants to ask him to keep them there, but he knows Regulus is in no mode to even think about it. His eyebrows are all strung up, and worry eats away at his gaze.
It really wasn’t much, just the typical robbery. James didn’t know they had a knife on them, he certainly didn’t think they’d stab him. At least James managed to tie him up until law enforcement could get there. He wanted to stay and wait but he also knew if Regulus went too long without hearing from him he’d work himself up into a panic so he came back. Remus has always been the one to take on the calls with James, telling him where everything is. He’s the guy in the chair as it were. Regulus wasn’t even an option, and then he found out about James and well… he kinda refused when James says he couldn’t help. So now he’s here every night, ready to help James into the window and curse him out for not being more careful.
“It’ll heal by morning,” James tells him as Regulus walks off to get the first aid kit.
“Don’t care,” Regulus says, “Sit back.”
James doesn’t even bother biting back his smile as he leans against the wall. Regulus sits beside him his head ducked as he cleans the wound, “You’re gonna need stitches,” Regulus mumbles.
“No, I don’t,” James tells him.
Regulus looks up, his eyes dark, there’s nothing getting passed him now. “You’re getting stitches, Potter.”
“Potter, really?” James says.
Regulus steps off the bed, “I’ll text, Lupin,” he says his name like it’s poison on his lips. James laughs, he doesn’t even care how much it hurts.
“Baby—“
“Don’t,” Regulus cuts him off, quickly typing on his phone.
James sighs, reaching out to grab him and drag him back over on the bed, “Reg?”
Regulus tosses his phone on the other side of the bed, “What?”
“My lips hurt I need you to make them better.”
Regulus just stares at him.
James pouts, “Come on, Reg.”
Regulus rolls his eyes, “You’re ridiculous.”
“You love me,” James murmurs, leaning in. “Kiss it better?”
Regulus sighs, but leans in anyway, he’s gentle, careful not to hurt him. He pulls away, “You said you’d be more careful on patrols.”
“I will be!” James exclaims, “I promise.”
“Uh huh.”
“I will,” James takes his face in his hands, pulling him in again, “Next time. No getting stabbed.”
“No getting stabbed,” Regulus mumbles against his lips.
With Regulus beside him, James can’t help but think… maybe getting stabbed was a little worth it if it got him here.

The Jockification of Jeremy, Part 3: Chase Makes His Choice
(For Parts 1 and 2 and the earlier stories this is a sequel to, see the earlier posts.)
I ended up not seeing Chase for nearly two weeks. I had sent him one or two texts. He hadn’t answered them, but he’d read them. I finally sent: “Bro, we need to talk”, and he replied: “I can’t hear you when you speak jockinese”. That made me mad, as I’m sure he wanted, but I realized that he was just lashing out. I felt bad for him, but I still couldn’t make up my mind what to do. I could just give him the Cup and wait for him to start to turn, but I kept remembering Coach Sanders saying that I might not need it. What had he been trying to tell me? I tried to think it through: I hadn’t needed the Cup for myself. Why? Because I had made out with James and Steve, apparently. So, was he telling me that Chase might start to turn into a jock if we made out? Maybe that was what he meant, but the chances of that seemed slim, since Chase wouldn’t even look at me now. And then I suddenly realized that I was overthinking it; the problem was really very simple: was Chase in love with me or not? If he was, then he’d still be in love with me – even though I’d become a jock. And if he wasn’t, then our friendship was over, because the two of us had nothing in common anymore. So I had to find out whether he loved me. And that meant I would have to see him again, whether he wanted to see me or not.
I had thought about asking one of the bros to help. Derek, for example, could easily have just picked Chase up and carried him to me. But that was a stupid idea. Even if it worked, it would just make Chase mad. And this was my problem, not my bros’ problem. If anyone was going to pick Chase up and carry him around, I would be the one to do it; I was getting big enough.
I put everything into one last effort to persuade Chase to see me. I sent him this: “Plz. Gotta talk 2 u just 1nce more. And then will leave u alone if that’s what u want. Plz I need u.”
He replied: “I nu I shd hve blocked u. OK. Will meet. Where?”
“My place.”
My parents were happy to see Chase again, because they hadn’t seen him now for weeks and were wondering why we weren’t friends anymore. I don’t know if they noticed how uncomfortable he looked, but he didn’t linger downstairs. We went right up to my room.
“Okay, Jeremy, what’s the big emergency? What do you need me for? Because I’m not doing homework for you or any other dumb jock, just so you know that.”
“I didn’t ask you here to do my homework, bro, I can do it myself.”
“Yeah, but how well, bro? What’d you get on that last history assignment? A C?”
“A B Minus, actually. I know it wasn’t my best, but I had a basketball game and a wrestling match that week. Anyway, I’m getting my grades back up. I have to anyway. Anything lower than a C-, I get kicked off the team.”
“And that would be a tragedy, that would. What the hell happened to you, Jeremy? Why are you acting like this? I can’t stand jocks. I really can’t. I can’t even look at you. And it smells like a locker room in here. Do you ever wash your jockstraps?”
“Yeah, I do, but I’m a big boy now, and big boys sweat. It’s not a crime, bro.”
“Maybe not, but the stink in here is. Yeah, you’re a big boy all right, Jeremy. I’ll grant you that. You’re about a foot taller than I am now, and judging from how you look in the tank tops and shorts you wear even this time of year, you’ve been packing on the muscle. And the body hair, too.  Geez. Look at you. I guess you’ve turned into your own wet dream, eh, Jeremy? You always did have a thing for jocks. But I still can’t figure out how you turned into one.  Did those neanderthals kidnap you, brainwash you, and pump you full of steroids?”
“I don’t take steroids, bro. Steroids shrink your balls. I think even you know that.”
“Okay, I’ll concede on that point. Even from here, I can tell you don’t have shrunken balls, unless you’ve been stuffing rocks in your jockstrap. Geez, Jeremy, how do walk around with those? And what the eff happened to your dick? It wasn’t like that before.”
“There, bro, you can manage to look at me when you want to. Glad you’re impressed, but I didn’t ask you over here to discuss my package.”
“Then what did you ask me here for, Jeremy? If it wasn’t for me to do your homework or admire the size of your balls, then what did you want from me?”
“This,” I said, pulling him to me and kissing him.
He struggled a bit at first, but I held him firmly, and pretty soon he was giving back as much as he was getting. His tongue pushed hungrily into my mouth. A minute later, though, he pulled away. “Damn it, Jeremy,” he said. “Did you have to do that? You’re big, you’re dumb, and you stink. I can’t. I just can’t.”
I put my hand on his rigid cock, which was tenting his pants, and said, “This is telling a different story, isn’t it Chase? You want to know why I asked you over? To tell you that I love you. I think I always loved you. I missed you so much. And I’m pretty sure you love me, too. Am I right?”
“Damn you,” Chase said, starting to kiss me again. He didn’t come up for air for a couple more minutes. “Fuck. I hate this. You want me to say it, don’t you? Yes, I love you. There. I said it. I think I’ve always loved you. Damn it.”
“But bro, I’m big and dumb, and I stink.”
“Yeah, I know,” said Chase. “And I still love you, you big, hot lunkhead. Although I’m starting to wonder how dumb you really are. You seem to know how to push all of my buttons. Now shut up and let’s get back to work. And stop calling me ‘Bro’!”
We got back to work. For such a little dude with zero experience that I knew of, he gave me a thorough workout. Once he finally got to it, I mean, he just went nuts. It was as if I’d broken some kind of barrier down inside him, and now that it was gone, he couldn’t get enough of me. I couldn’t believe little Chase could be such an animal. When we finally finished, we were both sweating heavily. Chase said, “I’m sorry. I had to do that or I was going to go crazy.”
“You did go crazy, bro. And nothing to be sorry for. I had a great time.”
“I did, too. Damn it. Why, Jeremy? I don’t like jocks.”
“Could’ve fooled me, bro”.
“Yeah, I know. I guess I like this jock. I love you, Jeremy. You were right about that. Well, we’ve certainly had a night. Now are you going to send me packing? Don’t you have a freshman to stuff into a locker or something, or a game to play?”
“Chase, dude, I love you like crazy, but you really need to get over your hate, okay? I’ve changed. I know it hasn’t been easy for you, but you need to be okay with that.”
“I know, Jeremy. I’ve just really been having trouble dealing with you as a jock. I thought I’d lost you forever, and it made me mean. I’m sorry. I know whatever changes you’ve been going through, it’s not your fault, and I haven’t been a good friend to you lately. But it’s hard for me to get used to. You really do smell like jock, you know, and now I’ve got that smell all over me. I feel a little queasy now, honestly.”
“I’m sorry about the jock smell, bro, honestly, I am, but I think you’re going to have to just live with it. I shower, like, every day. Sometimes more than once.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry, too. You’re right; I’ll just have to get used to it. I don’t know. Maybe it’s not so bad. Anyway, if that’s what I have to put up with, I’ll have to put up with it.”
“Bro, you’re sure you’re okay? Your voice is getting kind of hoarse.”
“Still a bit dizzy or whatever, but I feel fine otherwise,” he said, his voice cracking. “My throat’s just a little scratchy.”
I smiled, thinking Chase probably wouldn’t be needing that cup after all. “Bro,” I continued, “I know you’re not exactly interested in going out for a sport right now, but I just wanted to let you know that you owe Coach Sanders a huge favor.”
“Not sure I follow you, Jeremy. Why do I owe Coach Sanders a favor?”
“Because he was the one who told me not to give up on our friendship. Bro, I was so, like, sad that you weren’t talking to me that I went to ask his advice. And he was super nice and super helpful about it, and he made so much sense. And he told me pretty much what you said, bro, about you having trouble dealing with it that I had changed so much so fast. And I asked him to talk to you, and he said he would if I wanted, but that I shouldn’t, you know, underrate our friendship, and I could talk to you better than he could. And he was right.”
“Yeah,” agreed Chase. “He was right. I guess I do owe him a favor, then.”
“Yeah, bro,” I said, kissing Chase again lightly. “Anyway, it’d be great for you to talk to him sometime. He’s a great guy.”
“I’m sure he is, Jeremy. And maybe, maybe, if you value his opinion so much, I can persuade him to get you down to using ‘Bro’ every other sentence.” I pantomimed punching him in the arm and he laughed. “Sorry, Jeremy, but I couldn’t resist that one. It’s okay. But yeah, I’ll talk to him sometime, if it means that much to you.”
“It’s good to hear you laugh again, bro. I’ve missed that.” Then I kissed him again, and we got down to business for another round.
Chase ended up spending the night. It was pure ecstasy for us, because neither of us wanted to be away from the other. But the next morning, we had school, and the alarm was a rude awakening from our blissful night.
Chase said he felt great in the morning, but his voice was so hoarse he could barely talk above a whisper: “Jeremy,” Chase croaked, “I’m going to stink so bad at school. You think I have time for a shower?”
I kissed him again and said, “Don’t shower yet, babe. Please. You smell like me, and I want every guy at school to know you’re mine.”
Chase laughed, “Okay, Jeremy. I guess you marked me as your mate. Just for you, because I love you, I won’t shower until I get home tonight. Anything else you want?”
“Just one more thing, you ever worn a jock, babe? No, of course you haven’t. Here’s one of mine. I want you to wear it to school today.”
“Geez, Jeremy, I mean, that’s sweet, and a little gross, but how is one of your jockstraps going to fit me? It’ll be all stretched out from your monster cock and balls.”
“You’ll see,” I said. “Let me get it on you. You’d be surprised how well these things recover from being stretched out. If it won’t stay on you by itself right now, you just put a pair of briefs over it. Wait, I think I still have a few of my old ones that don’t fit me anymore.” So I positioned one of my used jockstraps over his package and then put a pair of my old briefs over it, and once I got in place, I said, “Now you’ll be able to feel that you’re mine all day long.”
“Ooh, that feels strange. Really strange. But it’s kind of nice. It makes me feel warm and tingly, all over. But I guess I’d better get dressed now.”
Chase kissed me again, and then he started pulling on his pants and shirt from last night. “That’s funny, Jeremy,” he whispered. “My pants are little tight.”
“Well, you’ve got a little extra material there now, bro. I’m sure your pants will stretch out a bit once you’ve had them on for a bit.”
We went to school together, but we didn’t have any classes together until after lunch, so I didn’t see him again until lunchtime. We ate lunch together. Chase was feeling fine, he said, but he was really hungry, and he got seconds, which he never did normally. He was clearing his throat a lot, and when he talked, his voice alternated between sounding hoarse and cracking. To me, his Adam’s apple already looked a little more prominent, but it could have been my imagination. He looked a little sweaty, too, but I said nothing about it.
“Jeremy,” he said, “I just wanted to let you know that I’m trying to get used to the jock smell, I really am, but I feel stinky and sweaty, and I’m really looking forward to a shower.”
“It’s okay, little bro. I just wanted to be sure you and everyone else knew you were mine.”
“Very cute, Jeremy. But I keep thinking your jock friends are staring at me.”
Chase had a point; some of them did seem to be staring, particularly James and Steve, who looked over several times.
“Don’t worry about my bros, babe,” I said. “No one’s going to mess with you now that you’re my boyfriend.”
But I was curious as to what James and Steve were talking about; they were clearly having a couple chat that no one else was in on.
After school, I had basketball practice. Before practice, I swung by Coach Sanders’s office to return the cup and thank him again. He was at his desk. I closed the door and said, “Coach, I wanted to thank you so much for helping me with Chase. I ended up not needing this, so I wanted to get it back to you.” I handed him the cup.
He said nothing until he had carefully put the cup back into the same file drawer he’d retrieved it from originally, and then he said, “So, big guy, how’d things go?”
“Awesomely. You were right about trusting our friendship, Coach. I think I’d been in love with him for a long time, and I told him so, and it turned out he was in love with me, too. Now we’re officially boyfriends, and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Love’s a powerful thing, Jeremy. I’m glad for you. So, Chase is dealing with your changes better now?”
“Definitely, Coach. And, if I’m right, he’ll probably be ready to talk to you about joining up in a week or two.”
The coach chuckled. “Big guy, if you were smiling any harder, I think your face would split. Okay, Jeremy, I can read between the lines. We’ll keep an eye on Chase and make sure he turns out all right.”
“Thanks, Coach. I owe you a lot.”
“You’re welcome, Jeremy. I owe you a lot, too.”
I didn’t see Chase again that night, but we texted. Other than his voice, he was feeling fine. The next morning at school, James lumbered up behind me, reached up, and clasped a meaty hand on my shoulder: “Sup, bro. Why don’t we take a walk to my office. It’s time for another counseling session.” He had one of those one-eyebrow-raised jock smirks on his face, so it was hard to tell if he was amused or irritated. I followed him to the most out-of-the way men’s room in the school. No one was inside.
“Haven’t been in here for a while. Brings back memories – sort of.” I looked at him, puzzled, and he sighed. “Never mind. It’s just that this place has seen a few interesting scenes in my life, bro, but that’s another story. If these walls could talk! I’m just glad I didn’t have to kick any nerds out of here this time. We need a little privacy.”
“What’s up, James? Why’d you bring me here? I’m confused.”
“You do seem to have that problem sometimes, bro. Were you a little dense before you changed, or did you lose a few IQ points in the process?  Anyway, the last time you and I talked, we were talking about your future. But you’re not a little bro anymore, not at all. You’ve turned out fine. No, it’s not your future I’m worried about. Steve-o and I noticed your little friend at lunch. What’s his name? Chase? So, what’s going on with your little friend, Chase, bro?”
“Something wrong with him, bro?” I asked, as innocently as I could.
“You do like to push your luck, don’t you? I’m still a lot bigger than you are. And, unlike some of our bros, I’m not stupid, and neither is Steve. I’m starting to suspect you’re not as dumb as you come off, either.”
“Your point, dude?”
“I’m getting there,” James continued with a glare. “Patience is a virtue, bro. I don’t know what all you know or may have heard about Steve and me and some of the stuff that used to go on around here. Let me just tell you that I have plenty of experience seeing nerds and geeks turn into jocks. I can recognize the signs sooner than most. Don’t hold out on me, bro. I’m not asking because I’m nosy. There might be more involved than you know about. So, give. What happened to Chase? Why is he starting to turn?”
“He’s my boyfriend, bro. That’s what happened. He and I had been in love since, like, forever, but he was having trouble with me being a jock. Anyway, we reconciled the night before last.”
James’s smirk deepened. “Oh, that’ll be fun. Too much fun. That is fucking awesome! I’ve got to say, bro, I suspected something like that. Look, it really wouldn’t be any of my business, except that I want to make sure your little bro Chase is okay. Protocol is, as you know, that we only hang around with other bros, so you and Chase were attracting some attention. You don’t need to give me a play-by-play, but he already looks like he’s turning fast. You did that just by making out with him?”
“Well, yeah, bro. I mean, we did it – a lot – that first night. And I did talk him into wearing one of my jockstraps. I think it helps. I, uh, wore that one of yours for over a week, I think.”
“Kind of hard to remember stuff from before, isn’t it bro?” said James softly. “It was Steve’s, by the way, not that it really matters. We knew it was Steve you really wanted to make out with. I don’t blame you; he is incredibly hot, after all. Look, bro, I know it doesn’t matter now, but you have to realize that we had no idea that making out with us was going to make you turn. We just wanted you to have some fun – and leave us alone.”
“Bro, seriously, it’s okay. I’m super happy with my life. I mean, I know I used to be different, but now I can’t really remember what I was like before. I mean, I remember my life and all the facts and all that, but I can’t remember what it felt like, you know?”
“Yeah, I do know, actually,” James said, almost in a whisper. “Your old life is like a dream you barely remember, and every day it fades a bit more, because you were always like this, and that dream, bro, it never happened.”
“Yeah, it’s exactly like that,” I said, excitedly. But James sighed; he was looking away from me toward his reflection in the mirror. His smirk was gone, and his face was utterly blank. I was a bit disconcerted, but I continued, “And Chase, well, I didn’t know what would happen, but I figured that, since we loved each other so much, it would turn out okay no matter what. But dude, we made out so many times that night, and by morning, I could already tell he was starting to change. So I figured, okay then, we’ll just be another hot jock couple like you and Steve.”
“Yeah, I suppose you will be at that, bro,” James said, his customary smirk pointed at me again. “Other people will start noticing soon. You’ll want to keep a close eye on him for now. And talk to one of the coaches, probably Sanders, the basketball coach. He was the one Derek talked to about you. Sanders was around when all this stuff started going on, and he must know something. I’ll bet Halvorson, the wrestling coach, does, too.  The football coach, you know, the new one, don’t go to him. He’s a great coach and all, but he doesn’t know anything about this kind of, um, special case.”
“All taken care of, bro. I had already talked to Coach Sanders about Chase, and I talked to him again yesterday before practice. He was the one who encouraged me to reconcile with Chase in the first place, and I’m glad I did.”
“Interesting, bro, very interesting. He actually encouraged you to reconcile with Chase? I’m surprised. Pleasantly, but surprised. I don’t know Coach Sanders, really. I’m not on the basketball team, and I’ve never really talked to him, but I’m glad he isn’t a homophobe. That was one of the problems with the old football coach. So, I’m assuming Coach Sanders must have some or all of the old football coach’s videos.”
“Yeah, bro, I watched one of those, and he said he had some of the old coach’s stuff, just not all of it. I asked him if the video would help Chase, and he told me it would, but I might need something special to help as well. But I ended up not needing it, so I gave it back to him.”
“Whoa, dude,” said James. “What the fuck! You don’t mean he actually still has…”  James leaned right into my face and whispered so softly I almost couldn’t hear him. “Does Sanders actually still have a cup? Is that what he gave you?”
“Yeah, bro, that’s what he gave me,” I whispered back.
I’d almost never seen James look anything but cocky, but whatever was going through his head had wiped the usual smirk off his face again. His eyes were as round as basketballs. “No shit,” he finally said, quietly. “Steve-o and I thought they were all long gone, along with the old football coach. And Sanders still has one?”
“Bro,” I whispered. “I know he told me not to talk about this at all, but I think he said they had very few left, so doesn’t that mean there must be more than one?”
“Holy shit,” said James. “Okay, bro, do not, I repeat, do not, say a word about any of this to anyone. Absolutely not. And don’t let on to Coach Sanders that you told me. The less you know about those things the better. Bro, I am so glad you didn’t have to use one of those on Chase. What you two did was a lot more fun, for you and for him, and if all goes well, little Chase will never know what hit him.” He paused. “We’re done with our discussion, bro, but, just out of curiosity, do you remember any of the video Coach Sanders had you watch?”
“Well, I remember that it was really good, and I enjoyed it, but no, I don’t honestly remember what it was about. Why?”
“Professional curiosity. I’m studying biology, not that I exactly bring that up at practice with the bros. But I’m curious about the process – if you follow me. I think, bro, that it’s not just one video that you watched. I think there’s more than one, and I’m not sure if we all see the same ones or not. But that’s just a feeling I have. I have zero evidence, and I can’t remember any more of the video than you do. I’ll be curious to find out if Chase remembers anything when his turn comes. Speaking of coming,” he said with a chuckle, “Make sure you get him to come as soon as you can, you know, after he’s done. It’ll help him finish adjusting. He’ll probably be super horny anyway, but it he’s not, get him horny, okay, bro?”
“Okay, bro,” I said with a grin. “That’ll be a pleasure. But what’s so bad about those cups, anyway?”
“Look, bro, forget about the cups. Just be very, very glad you never had to wear one. Trust me.” And with that he left.

Wolfstar Microfics - Penpals
Words: 792
@wolfstarmicrofic
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
21st August
Moony,
Please tell me you’re still coming this weekend. Evans actually replied to one of James’ (many) letters, and not just to tell him to fuck off, and he is being unbearable. If I have to hear one more sentence that starts “She said” I might just unforgivable myself. Please put me out of my misery, I’ve been helping Effie cook just to get away from the lovesick prick. Note that I can cook now. I’ll show you this weekend, I asked her to teach me how to make Samosas and they’re surprisingly easy. So I can make you samosas now! Hope the moon wasn’t too bad, wish we could have been there.
Padfoot
✨✨✨✨
21st August
Pads,
I’ll be there Friday night, I promise.
To be fair to James, it’s a pretty big deal for him. But rest assured I’ll tell him to shut up if you need me to. Lily didn’t tell me that she replied to him, so now I need to fire off a letter to her and ask her if she sustained a head injury. Please don’t off yourself, I don’t want to spend the week with lovesick Prongs on my own.
Samosas! For me? I’m glad James’ arseholery has resulted in something good at least. I will never tire of Effie’s Samosas, so the bar is high! I hope you’re practicing ready for the weekend, I expect to be wowed.
The moon wasn’t great. I have two ugly new scars on my jaw/cheek, just to prepare you for the weekend.
The wolf misses his friends, and I miss mine.
Moony
🌙🌙🌙🌙
21st August
Dear Lily,
I have received news that you sent a letter to James, and I was so concerned that I had to write to you immediately. Are you alright? Were you injured? How bad was the head injury? Do they think you’ll ever gain back full brain function?
But seriously, what the fuck? He won’t shut up about it and he’s driving Sirius mad. I’m spending the week with them and if he’s as insufferable as Sirius claims, I will be blaming you.
Hope you’re enjoying France.
Also, I told you so.
Remus
🌺🌺🌺🌺
22nd August
Moons,
Sorry the moon was shit. We’ll be back at school by the next one and it’ll be better. Also, I won’t tell you again, your scars aren’t ugly. They’re cool and rugged, and make you look distinguished and mysterious. I will hear no arguments on this subject, thank you. I also meant to ask how many books you’ve read this summer. I think you’ll be incredibly proud that I have read seven whole books in the last month. One of them was mostly pictures, but I think it still counts. I’m agonised that your only issue with my death is that you’ll have to cope with Prongs’ pining alone. Do I truly mean so little to you, Remus? I fear I shall never recover from this slight.
Yours,
Pads
PS: I made another batch of samosas and honestly, you’re going to swoon when you taste them. They’re so good. Effie seems to love bonding with me over a hot stove, and it’s very sweet. I love living here so much. I try not to think about what I’d be doing if I wasn’t here, but sometimes the comparison is helpful. Well, that got sappy. My next letter will only be discussing Quidditch and boobs to make up for it. Counting down the hours til Friday.
✨✨✨✨
23rd August
Pads,
Not long to go now. Can’t wait to see you later, and for samosas.
Seven books? Wow. That’s impressive! I’m a few ahead of that, but I’ve literally had nothing to do but read since July. Moony and Padfoot book club, when?
Can you believe it’s been over a month since I saw you? Maybe you’ve finally had that growth spurt you’ve been hoping for. My mum seems to think I’ve grown, but she always says that.
It wasn’t enough for me to tell you not to top yourself in general? Do you need me to tell you how much I’d miss you creeping into my bed at 3 am and hogging the blankets? Or how sad it would make me to not have to share every cup of tea I make? Weirdly, I would actually miss that, to be fair, so please be alive when I get there.
If I wanted to hear about Quidditch and boobs, I’d write to Prongs. Please spare me. I’ll probably be with you before it arrives, so there’s little point. I might send this right before I floo so you don’t get chance to reply. If so, hi, I’m already here!
Looking forward to swooning over you! your samosas!
Your
Moony

James looked at the two of you in complete confusion.
“Dere’s a baby in momma’s tummy?!” he exclaimed.
You and Bucky chuckled at the toddler’s reaction. “Yes, buddy,” you confirmed, picking him up and placing a kiss on his cheek. “There’s a baby in here.” You touched your belly, showing the little boy where his younger sibling was growing.
“When it be here?” he asked, looking back and forth at you and Bucky.
“About nine months,” Bucky smiled. “So, we don’t have long to get ready.”
James squirmed to get down, so you let him down. “I gots to get ready for da baby!”
Without another word, the toddler ran off to his room. You and Bucky chuckled at his excitement. “What do you think he’s doing?” Bucky asked as he pulled you into his arms and kissed the top of your head.
“Getting ready,” you laughed, looking at the young boy standing in the entrance of the living room holding out his toys.
“Da baby can have these!”
Tumblr media
You and Bucky sat in the living room of the apartment you shared, looking at the ultrasound that proved that there was, in fact, a little person growing inside you.
“I can’t believe this is actually happening,” Bucky smiled and kissed your head, smiling against your hair. “We’re actually doing this.”
You smiled and rubbed your finger over the small bean-shaped being on the paper. “You’re already an amazing dad,” you smiled up at him.
“And you’re an amazing mom,” he replied, kissing you softly. “We do need to talk about something, though.”
You exhaled. “Right. Madripoor versus New York.”
“I’ll live anywhere,” Bucky told you. “As long as I have you and our little ones, I’m happy to call anywhere home. I just need to know if we need to start moving your stuff to New York, or if I should get my stuff sent here. I can’t keep buying clothes every week.” He let out a soft chuckle.
You nodded. You understood where he was coming from, and it was something that needed to be figured out. “This is the only home that James has known,” you told Bucky. “As silly as it might sound, I’d like for him to have some sort of say.”
“That makes sense,” he agreed with a soft smile. “Might cause some sort of issue if we just uproot him from where he’s grown up.”
You lay down with your head in his lap. “Well, if we do decide to move to New York, I’d prefer to do it before I get big,” you stated, watching Bucky rub your belly with his flesh hand. “If this pregnancy is gonna be anything like the one before, I am gonna to be exhausted.”
Bucky smiled down at you. “We’ll talk to him about it while we eat dinner.”
Tumblr media
That night at dinner, you, Bucky, and James were eating homemade chili. Not knowing how to start the conversation, you glanced over to your lover.
“Hey, buddy?” Bucky said to get James’ attention.
The toddler looked up at his dad. “Yea, daddy?”
Bucky cleared his throat. “So, your momma and I were talking earlier, and we wanted to ask you something.” James nodded and Bucky continued. “How would you feel about moving to another big city?”
“Another big city?” James questioned, looking at the two of you. “What wrong with here?”
“Daddy lives in Brooklyn, in New York,” you told him. “And now that there’s a baby on the way, we need to figure out where we’re going to live.”
The toddler seemed to understand. “So we gonna have to move?”
“If you’re okay with it, buddy,” you promised. “We didn’t want to make any decision without telling you and knowing what you think about it.”
James thought for a moment, eating the peas on his plate. “Is it a real big city?”
“It is,” Bucky smiled.
“It’s where daddy’s from,” you said. “Remember how old daddy is?”
“Yeah!” James exclaimed.
“So daddy knows all the fun places to go,” you smiled. “You could have a new giant world to explore!”
“I wanna go!” James excitedly bounced. “Daddy, you show me all the fun tings?”
Bucky chuckled. “Yes, buddy…I’ll take you to all the best places that I loved going to as a child.”

Can you write about James and Mika going on a late night drive that eventually leads to car sex?🫣
Hi anon! I'm so sorry this took so long, I'm admittedly not great at writing James. I hope I did him justice, and I may come back and redo this prompt when I get better at writing him and smut.
Late Night (James x F Reader)
NSFW
Not proof read lol
As I laid in bed, I found myself feeling restless. It wasn’t uncommon for me to struggle to sleep, but I just couldn’t stop moving. Tapping my leg, stretching my arms, rubbing my face. Anything but staying still.
Eventually James, who’d been holding me patiently, spoke up. “Are you alright, Love?”
I sighed and adjusted so we were face to face. In response, he moved an arm under my neck and the other draped over my waist, holding me close. “I can’t sleep,” I complained, a slight frown on my face.
He hummed, rubbing my side. “Is something on your mind?”
I shook my head. “No, I just have too much energy,” I explained.
James thought for a moment before speaking. “Perhaps we could go for a drive,” he offered. “It may help with your restlessness.”
I smiled and nodded, sitting up. “That sounds nice.” I said.
I felt so thankful for him at that moment. He was always so patient with me, always trying to find ways to help me. With little things like chores, and bigger things like my insomnia or worse, a devil who kidnapped me from school. He was so good to me.
When we got in the car, he chose to drive. It was a slightly chilly night, the shorts I was wearing doing little to warm me up, so I brought a jacket. As he drove down the street, his hand rested on my lower thigh.
After a few minutes, I spoke. “Hey James?”
He glanced over. “Yes, Dear?”
“Thank you,” I said softly. “For this, and always being so amazing.”
He smiled, a soft blush on his features. “You do not need to thank me. In fact, I should be thanking you.”
I tilted my head. “For what?”
“Loving me,” he answered, his eyes burning with his emotions even as he watched the road. “You are the kindest, most beautiful woman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, let alone loving.”
I flushed, smiling more. My eyes traced over every detail of his face, the way the moonlight highlighted his features. He was perfect, everything I could ever want. “I love you, James,” I answered softly.
He smiled more, gently squeezing my leg. “And I love you.”
Looking at him, the feeling of his hands on me, it sent a wave of desire through me, even without his magic. I smiled, placing my hand on his. “You know…” I started, pulling his hand higher on my leg. The faint pink tint that spread across his face was incredible. “I think I know how to burn some of my energy.”
He raised an eyebrow as he moved his hand even higher. “Do you, now?” he asked teasingly, his pinky going under the fabric of my sleep shorts.
I swallowed and nodded, a shiver running down my spine as his hand gently brushed over my core. He smirked, rubbing me through the fabric, too light. My hips thrusted against my will, craving the friction his hands provided. He kept his eyes on the road, seemingly looking for a place to pull over. I felt the unmistakable heat of his enthrallment flush through me, a short moan escaping as the heat coursed through my veins and straight in between my legs.
Finally, he pulled over to a secluded area, pulling me into his lap. His hands left goosebumps in their wake as they trailed down to my hips, kissing me hotly. I found myself rocking my hips against his, feeling his length grow in hardness as he let the seat all the way back.
He groaned, turning us over so I was the one laying on the seat. His eyes flickered gold, his clothes dissipating as he began to pull mine off, starting with unzipping my jacket, kissing the freshly exposed skin of my shoulder as I was left in my tank top. It wasn’t long before he took the rest of my clothes off.
His mouth found a sensitive part of my neck, nibbling softly as his fingers rubbed over my folds. “Ah- James,” I whimpered.
He groaned quietly, sticking a finger into my center. “You like that?” he teased, his mouth brushing over the shell of my ear.
I shivered and nodded, but it wasn’t enough. I needed him. I reached down to his cock and began stroking; the short moan he stifled sent a thrill straight to my core.
Finally, he brushed the tip over my folds and slowly pushed in, so torturously slow. A shiver ran through me as he deliciously filled me up, the emptiness of my arousal being answered. Even so, he moved slowly, millimeter by millimeter, until finally I begged. “More Raestrao, faster-”
At the sound of his true name, he finally slammed into me, drawing more and more loud moans and gasps as he continued to pound into me. He had one arm under my neck to hold his own weight up while the other trailed down to my hip, changing the angle until I was seeing stars.
His own groans and sharp breaths were in my ear as he nipped the shell. “Nnn- you feel so amazing~” he praised, his voice husky and deep.
I couldn’t respond with anything but mewls, my nails starting to drag down his shoulders as the heat in my abdomen began to spread. Every part of my body heated up as he continuously thrusted my most sensitive area. I could feel him begin to twitch inside of me as he got louder.
His hand on my hip moved, starting quickly rubbing over my clit. I began to clench around him, my eyebrows knitting as my eyes clamped shut as he whispered in my ear. “Cum for me~”
At his command, my back arched off the seat as I cried out, trembling from the sheer amount of pleasure I felt as the warmth in my body released. It only took a few more thrusts until he spilt into me, his own hands trembling slightly as his enthrallment dropped.
After a few moments to catch our breath, he pulled out with a shiver and propped himself up on one of his arms to look at me, bringing a hand to cup my cheek. “Are you alright?” he asked softly.
I smiled softly, lazily nuzzling into his hand. “I feel great, amazing actually.”
He chuckled and kissed my forehead sweetly. “I love you.”
I smiled more. “I love you too, James.”

the midwilshire family group chat headcanons
ok so the canon confirmation in 5.13 that the core group have a group chat with each other is probably one of THE best things to come from last night’s episode, and one thing abt me is that I LOVE found family shenanigans so you know I had to make this. so here’s what I think their group chat looks like:
nolan always goes to bailey whenever a phrase, abbreviation, or emoji is sent over text that he doesn’t understand
originally he went to henry but because of the time zone difference henry would be like “dad fuck off it’s 3am here I can’t explain to you what bffr means” so then bailey comes to the rescue
the whole group actually GASLIGHTS tim. like they will send the most unfunny 2012 facebook memes and tell him that it is the kind of stuff kids find funny these days, acting like he’s crazy for not laughing, and he gets so annoyed because he knows they’re fucking with him and he’s insulted they think he’s that lame but also they NEVER break. they commit to the bit 100% and keep at it
lucy sends obscure uquizzes like “find out what famous true crime documentary you are by choosing bts lyrics” or “what kind of wings would you have if humans had wings” or something like that
unless directly mentioned or asked a question (or unless she herself needs something) nyla will not text in the chat. the only exception is when she has an occasional girls’ night to get a break from leah, and then she (and angela) will get super drunk and start sending drunken voice memos and texting the group chat saying really affectionate stuff like how much she loves all of them, and she misspells every word
angela sends one picture of jack. ONE. and lucy responds with 80 different texts fawning over how cute he is, sending little 🥰 emojis and rambling about how nyla and angela have the cutest kids ever. the guys only send like one text each. but it gets to the point where angela only ever sends pictures of jack when she’s had a bad day and needs a serotonin boost or wants to feel like the best mom ever (which is true) because she knows lucy always goes insane and it makes angela feel good about herself
tim will ABSOLUTELY send all-caps messages late at night giving extremely heated commentary on whatever sports game is on and everyone will either play along with it (“nooo, not the lineguard!! (I have no idea what’s going on)” comes from wesley) OR it’ll be too late at night so they will all text him in unison going “SHUT UP ABOUT THE GAME”
there are also several group chats— like one with aaron and celina, one without them, one with all the spouses and SOs (bailey, james, wesley) and one without, one even with grey, one with just the ladies, etc.— and in the ones aaron is in, tim will send recent paparazzi pictures of aaron that he finds online just to fuck with him
celina also sends daily horoscopes to the ladies group chat
lucy and tim also always send out invites to tyler’s little league games because tim is convinced that a bigger audience showing support for the kids will help them succeed (and the litany of post-game snack ideas that they all suggest)
everyone also tries to pump free construction and repair advice from nolan and he’s a sucker for it every time
If y’all want more of these then lmk because I have a whole bunch of them

I have to ask why is the marauders fandom so obsessed with Sirius and his looks? You guys act like he’s this Casanova but there’s no proof of it. Yes, he’s mentioned to be good looking but I’ve met my fair share of pretty boys who turn me off as soon as they open their mouths. Everything around Sirius is always made so sexual… it’s either Wolfstar or Jilypad. It’s like you guys can’t get over this looks and dig deeper into his personality, family history, and his life story. There’s so much material and stories that could be told but everyone focuses on his looks and it’s so condescending. If you guys do tell his story it’s like 20% his story 80% of everyone trying to shag him. I can’t find one story that actually does a great job of telling the brotherhood between the marauders, without turning it into some story of how everyone is obsessed with Sirius’ looks. James and Sirius were brothers in every way but in blood. We don’t know much about Lily and Sirius but with the letter sent she obviously cared enough to reach out to him because James missed his best friend and was having a hard time at the cottage. Remus and Sirius relationship is tragic and isn’t talked about enough. The guy was willing to become an animagus to help him but didn’t trust him enough to think I he was working against the order? Then there’s Peter who is by far the most underrated marauder and fooled them all, and got Sirius sentenced to Azkaban for 12 years. There’s so much more to Sirius then his looks and making up sexual relationships with the marauders. I used to love marauder fandom but the new writers have ruined everything and turned it into stories of everyone wanting to shag Sirius. There’s no plot, no story line, only the whole wizarding world fawning over how gorgeous Sirius is.
My poor dear anon,
What shallow, misguided corners of the fandom have you found yourself into?
I don't know if you found me through my writing or my latest shitpost. Probably the latter, because if you'd spent any time around here, you'd know that Sirius, for me, is so much more than someone to fawn over and shag - he's one of the most intelligent, most loyal, most characters and I'm fascinated by so many more of his facets than his indubitable handsomeness. (I do love to thirst over good artwork of him, but that's not exclusive to him.) I don't really have much tolerance for people who view Sirius as the person you describe and I don't engage with them.
But let's take a look at some definitions before we proceed.
1. The Marauders fandom. These days this is a term that hardly means anything, as it's been liberally adopted by anyone who focuses on any HP character who was alive sometime before Halloween 1981. Wolfstar shippers and Jilypad shippers, for instance, are two different groups with very little overlap, in my experience.
2. Sexualization. Sexualization means to reduce someone to their physical attractiveness and sexual potential and ignore their other qualities and characteristics. It does not mean being in a romantic relationship and/or having sex.
So, anon, I believe one of two things is what's at play here:
Possibility #1: You found yourself in some corner of the fandom that does sexualize Sirius. I don't know where that might be - I think even Wolfstar doesn't do that (it seems to me that they have the opposite problem these days, sexualizing Remus instead!). My main ship is Jily, though, and I find that overall people here have great appreciation for Sirius.
Come to the dark side. We have cookies biscuits, we appreciate Sirius as a friend to James and Lily (oh look, a whole fic fest dedicated to Sirius's friendship with Lily!), and while himbo Casanova Sirius used to be a popular trope in the mid-00s, I haven't seen it in fic since I got back into fandom two years ago.
(Disclaimer: There are always going to be thirsty fics. Prongsfoot, Lilypad and Jilypad, which I delve into, are not devoid of that either. And sometimes you just acknowledge that Sirius is one of the hottest characters in HP and just want to see him in action. Those fics are E-rated and usually pretty easy to avoid, and do not, in my experience, constitute the norm of how Sirius is treated within these fandoms.)
Possibility #2: You just don't like shippy fic at all; you want to read gen instead. That's completely valid, and I understand that completely non-shippy fic is hard to find. Especially with Jily being canon, so if you have to explore Sirius in a canon context there's probably going to at least be a side of Jily - that people always tag, because ships make or break fics for lots of readers, and it's recommended to tag for even minor presence or mention of a ship.
It does seem to me that the Marauders fandom now is more ship-focused than it used to be, I agree with you. I feel like gen fic back then was easier to find. I'd attribute that to a lot of us being older now and more interested in more "adult" situations, where some sort of romance is usually present, compared to the mostly teenaged fandom of 20 years ago that was more concerned with friendship and teenage shenanigans. But there are still people interested in Sirius and his non-romantic relationships with others - like those of us who wrote for Blackevans BFF fest (linked previously) and the people writing for @goodgodfathersiriusblack.
Bottomline: Do you want good quality Sirius content, or do you want Sirius content exactly how you want it? I can help with the first - stick around for posts, fics and recs. For the second, you'll have to be the change you want to see in the world.
