So I have finished both season 10 and just last night season 11 of ninjago!

Season ten I finished at like 1 am staying up late to watch it so that's why I forgor to post about it

So I'll do that first!

Season 10 was a 10/10!!!

Really liked garmadon's characterization. My favorite part was when a random ass guy explained the meaning of life to him. I liked seeing Faith again. I thought the Cole death fakeput was really well done. Specifically how it like, tied into multiple things going on with the story. This shows always been good at that. Like how the grief leads to garmadon character moments and also internal struggle for nya and sense Cole's actually fine now we have to parrelell threads of story to follow and wait to reconnect

SEASON 11

Holy SHIT

-I think I like the new rendering style, it makes the colors look brighter. No real opinion on the added hair texture but I enjoyed the added texture to clothes and stuff. There were some scenes where I was like 'animators having fun' and really that's what I think is most important :3

-Cole's dumbass soda hat my beloved

-loved the episode where they were just like: looking for problems. They are all such silly Billies. Borderline menaces on occasion

-also loved the episode with the paperboys and the news network. I've thought a lot about the citizens of ninjago city and these episodes finnally gave me a proper look into it. Was not dissapointdd!! I am delighted!!!

-jumping ahead here but pixel and Zane's reunion hug was SO fucking cute. My God. There little photo too!!!! My God there always adorable together but it still just ajgfiabduaks my heartttt. Tbh personally I see them as more of a qpr/soulmates kinda thing rather then a conventional romance. Like just, they love each other and that's all that matters <3

I'm sure there's something more there. That ashpeera's retelling of events would be different. Maybe king mamba was actually a huge asshole or smth. Idk. The point is there is something unknown there... CUE THE FANFICTION PLEASE.

-this leads into vex. I'm CERTAIN his story of leaving the formlings and when he came back to give evil speech went down VERY differently then what we were able to see. Not that Vex snt a fucking loser piece of work. He stalked a vulnerable individual and went 'I can manipulate this guy! '. Just that I thing things are a little more complicated then what we saw. Kinda like with nadakhan: still a fucking horrible person, but there was some characterization that showed them as A person. Rather then a stand in for a generic monster. I think that makes them scarier monsters actually

-speaking of monsters Krag was great. Love how Cole really just went 'Krag comes with us, Krag is friend now'

the way you write darlin and quinn breaks my HEARTTTT, like in canon the relationship is obviously messed up but with the way you add to it in your fics is amazing, especially with how long they'd known eachother in your aus and how darlin still mourns quinn after he dies in one of your fics. in the tattoo au, have they still known eachother since darlin was a teenager? how old was quinn when they first met? sorry if the message is too much, your writing is just jaw dropping and I eat up allllllll ur fics every single time! darlin and quinn in my mind were in a happy and healthy relationship at one point, and it started going downhill. to me, darlin stayed with quinn for so long not only because of their love for him, but because of the idea that darlins parents abandoned them. sorry for the like literal essay lmao, thank you for sharing your beautiful writing. i am addicted to your work. have a great sunday domini 😊💓

So, the Quinn and Darlin relationship really just gives us a great chance to explore a bad relationship. Depending on the fic, I tend to slide it along a scale. In some of them, like Scars That Remind, Quinn is a villainous, predatory monster that thinks Darlin belongs to him. In Long Time No See, Darlin mourns him when he's dead even though he's a monster in that one too, but there Darlin was more canon in that they'd sort of been letting it go on and on because they didn't really believe they deserved to make him stop. When they finally did, they had guilt over it and they mourned the parts of him that they'd cared for.

I also like some where they were definitely friends for a while and Quinn cared in the way that he could, but ultimately he does things that aren't okay (at all!) and Darlin has to draw a line. Like in No Luck Left, where he totally murders and trances Darlin, but he still believes they're better off with him and happier that way. He's WRONG, but he believes that.

The Tattoo AU is a no magic au and a lot different from canon in that Darlin didn't know any of the pack growing up. But they did pretty okay! They're rough and tumble, had plenty of hardships but got through it. For a handful of years there Darlin was doing well and happy. They were maybe nineteen when they first met Quinn, who was probably closer to thirty. He was charming and confident and they got along well. He made Darlin feel important and seen. They were inseparable and for a while it would have been great. But Tattoo AU Darlin isn't a pushover and Quinn likes to have everything his way, he likes to belittle and pick at people. Darlin argues. They fight. At first they fight and make up and it's part of their rhythm but the fights get bigger and the stretches between making up get longer.

Tattoo AU Darlin finally recognizes that pile of red flags and calls it. They dump him. He laughs and calls bullshit but they stand by it. He tries to argue, but they're done. A while later he comes back and tries to make up, but they're done. And Quinn snaps. There's no build up of physical altercations leading to that one horrific night, he just goes off like the violence was always there, it was just in his words and those sharp smiles, waiting.

Tattoo AU Quinn still thinks it was Darlin's fault for not letting him come back when he wanted to. If they hadn't tried to dump him, it wouldn't have happened--or so he tells himself, and them, and anyone else he can.
