so this is a lil...experimental? but bc i've been dabbling on that one ask large lore ask that set before kyle knows raven of crimson dawn is his stan, i've gotten very attached to writing the silly jersey letters to dead stan in his journal again. ( again, nina lore is that it's what a friend had me do when my first cat passed away.

but this is just something i wrote to get back into the habit of writing again. i put it on docs and i used a font which...okay? tbh, i think looks exactly like i want jk's handwriting to look. like its very swirly, he is my calligraphy king. i didn't proof it bc i just wrote...all of it tonight like a weird crazy person.

as for the timeline...i think it's pre!rm bonus content? like i dropped a little context about stuff that happened before the fic, but i think it's probably written anywhere in the last 1-2 years of rm before kyle went to that crimson dawn concert. i'm not sure what compelled me to write it i just...really like vulnerable jersey just being a jersey dirtbag but like kneeling by the stan shrine and asking for light.

speaking of...as far as triggers go. mostly the spelling is just bad, help, but jersey does talk a lot about stan dying and is very...distressed about it. he's also...really depressed and is not at the moment coping super well, but is reaching out for help. <3 always reach out for help when you need it. i didn't mention anything specific, but he does just mention thinking he's not a good person, feeling ugly, unworthy, lost, etc...TW FOR HIM BEING SO VULNERABLE AND CUTE ALSO.

thinking about my OC Rift and his premise more lately. I came up with the idea yearsss ago and thought it was kinda cringy or whatever but looking back on it I'm fond of it. I want to summarize the key points I recall:

it takes place in a setting with both humans and dinosaurs of any time period, in the wilderness where there are occasional human facilities.

Rift is originally a normal animalistic raptor who gets too curious and aggressive and attacks a small human research base, destroying them and their stuff. Some mystery drug he comes into contact with there rewires his brain and gives him a human-like ability to think and feel, along with knowledge about a lot of human things and culture and speech.

this sets him off into an existential crisis that he will always be battling, further heightened by the very kill-or-be-killed world he lives in.

Rift has a jumpy personality rooted in how often he feels distraught and upset. he will insist that things don't have meaning and deny how he actually cares about things to try and cope.

when he overcomes the initial shock of the drug, Rift notices a dodo bird in the building near where the chemical was spilled. Rift assumes the bird was affected by the drug too and chooses to protect and care for him. They're going through the same struggle now after all.

the dodo bird, named Melon, does not speak or emote in the way that Rift now can. Melon is simply agreeable and friendly. A key point is that no one can really prove that Melon has heightened thoughts & feelings or not, but Rift will always treat him as if he does and defend him with his life. That's his first and only friend!

Rift investigates a lot of human tools and items such as clothes and weaponry, learning about them and making use of them for himself. it is all new to him and each item comes with so many questions.

the world feels completely different to him now, like he is far too aware of everything and can hardly find meaning of it all. and he has too many emotions going at once now.

curiosity drives him to explore around, surviving and traveling with just him and melon. raiding human bases for their stuff is a big interest of his.

one solace he finds is discovering music. he picks up a guitar or ukulele from a human base and learns to play it, making up his own songs to go with it.

in his loneliness, Rift takes some of that mystery drug and ends up giving it to some other raptors that form a pack under him. Every raptor comes out of the transformation with a notably different personality and different reaction to the change than Rift.

the pack becomes a group of competent survivors thanks to what Rift has learned and taken from humans. the raptors wield weapons like bows and guns, and wear clothes for the extra protection.

Wepwawet AKA Simon Blackquill is doing great, I think he's enjoying being safe indoors. He's still extremely cuddly and loving, though he likes to bite at hands sometimes when he's feeling hyper. It's literally pouring rain at my job today, I'm so glad I brought him home!! I really don't get why people would just leave a friendly cat they found to fend for itself outside.

" It'll be over before you know it, okay?" Sens unzips something on their vest and lifts his love's shirt. They try to blink away the tears that build up at the sight of the monstrous gash that crosses over Reaper's abdomen, and covers the wound before they can truly see how it's going to kill her. " It's nothing-"

" Néon," Reaper utters. She has to turn her head and spit, but it doesn't do her any good. " Please-please listen..." She grabs onto their arm now, fingers latched onto a torn piece of Sens' uniform; her fingers are wet too and Sens wonders how long their love's been down here. All alone. " Just know you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me."

Reaper starts to cry. Sens has to bite the inside of their cheek to keep from crying as well, only to give up when they watch their love spit up more blood. She tries to speak again, Sens interrupting her when they press their lips against hers, their eyes squeezed shut to fight the onslaught of tears that overwhelm them. They only interrupt the kiss to whisper to her: " Je t'aime tellement, mes bonbons."
