hi hi!! since you like kunikida, i feel like you’re the right person to ask :D
how do you think kunikida would act/show care for people around him? the ada for example.
i’m writing a fic about how kunikida silently shows his care for the agency, but i tend to struggle with characterisation so i need your thoughts. because he obviously cares for the ada members a lot, but i don’t know how to portray it in a way that’s not too “soft” or “goody-two shoes” while still making it clear that he does love these people.
sorry if this is out of the blue lol :’) ty for your time!!
ACKKK THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!
I love analyzing characters 😼
this is going to be a long one. I do not apologize because I love kunikida
also tumblr ate this ask so I found this in my notifs and not my ask box
(also I want the fic please please please I want to read it please)
Some things are canon (first few) others aren't.
We already have seen a few ways he shows care for members!!
Dazai;
-Calling daily. It's in his schedule to call Dazai. And to make sure he's coming into work.
-Telling Dazai he can always vent if he needs to.
-"You were so talented. I couldn't have asked for a better partner."
-Buys Dazai food. Also Kunikida makes food for Dazai. (not canon but hey. he would and you know it)
-They banter a lot, but we still know Kunikida cares.
-Kunikida listens to Dazai (Dazai rambles a lot)
-Also hugs. A lot of hugs. Like he just gives him hugs. Kunikida will hold Dazai and rock him, idc what anyone says.
Atsushi; (I've realized this is all canon info and not personal headcanons)
-Praise. He does respect Atsushi, especially after he saved Kyoka. (After saving Kyoka, he praised him by saying 'good job')
-Yes he gives Atsushi lectures and reminders.
-Kunikida is proud of everything Atsushi has done. He compliments Atsushi's work (Kunikida compliments everyone for their work btw)
-Kunikida trains Atsushi!!
-Also let's not forget the hug they shared during the reunion.
Ranpo; (this is also all canon..)
-Kunikida praises Ranpo often. Like really often.
-"We'll be counting on you, Ranpo-san."
-"The ideal detective— no, in fact, the ideal ability user."
-Even after learning about Ranpo not being gifted, he still acts like Ranpo is.
-They do have a close bond. Ranpo has told Kunikida that he's the strongest. Ranpo also supports Kunikida, and tells him to stay calm and act like Fukuzawa during the cannibalism arc. (This is more about Ranpo, but still it shows they're close enough to say this stuff to each other)
Yosano;
-Respect! He does respect Yosano just like the other members.
-He surrendered his own life for Yosano's. This was because of the Hunting Dogs. (this goes along with respect)
-He knows Yosano's schedule. Take that as you will.
-Kunikida fully believes that Yosano can always help him no matter the injury. He doesn't care if he's injured because he knows Yosano can help him.
-Because of that one, I'd believe that he'd do a lot for Yosano as thanks. Gift giving, hugs, whatever Yosano is comfortable with.
Kyoka;
-Kunikida is very kind towards Kyoka. He opens up to her after her entrance exam. Which we can see the differences in the anime and manga.
-Kunikida gives lots of advice to Kyoka. He does the same for Atsushi. I'd say this is because he's technically a "higher up" because he joined before the two of them.
-He has also given Kyoka a page of his notebook in case of emergency while Kyoka was trying to save Atsushi. (canon)
-Definitely helps her with tasks. If she's struggling, no she isn't, Kunikida is right there.
-Headpats!! And he gives her stuffed animals as gifts.
-Did I mention that he definitely carries a stuffed animal on him at all times just so he can give it to Kyoka? Because he 100% does (prove me wrong challenge) (level impossible)
Kenji;
-Kunikida actually knows a lot about Kenji. Specifically his ability and the way he acts with others.
-Unfortunately there aren't many interactions of the two.
-However, I think Kunikida would do everything Kenji wants. Not just because he's a higher up/ superior, but also because he has a weakness to Kenji. nobody wants Kenji angry.
-Both can easily give bone crushing hugs, so I think it's easier for them to hug each other than to hug other people.
-Yes Kunikida buys Kenji food. Yes he gives Kenji blankets for when he falls asleep. Asagiri told me himself trust me
-Kenji and Kyoka play with stuffed animals and dolls/ toy animals. Kunikida now keeps some random toys and animals with him just to calm them down.
-Kunikida also buys Kenji stuffed animals because he realized Kyoka liked them and Kenji seemed to want them as well.
Junichiro;
-Canonically, they do trust each other!
-I think Kunikida treats him to food a lot. Just as a little treat.
-Also praise. If we know he canonically can give praise then he should praise Junichiro for his hard work.
-Junichiro likes physical touch (my opinion) so I think Kunikida gives him hugs and pats on the back.
-Like you know that thing people do where they pat someone's back and then rub it? That's literally Kunikida to anyone I think. Just mainly Atsushi and Junichiro.
Naomi;
-I don't think they've like canonically interacted?
-Also treats Naomi to food. Just mainly sweets because she loves sweets.
-Hugs. The Tanizaki siblings love physical touch. That's their number one love language.
-Pats on the head for good work.
Haruno;
-They don't hang out much. But he will visit her.
-Daily check ups. He just visits her or goes to her during work and asks if everythings okay. (I think he does this to everyone, just a headcanon)
-Also headpats. At this point he has probably patted every single person's head at some point. Except for Fukuzawa (out of respect for him)
Fukuzawa;
-He has a lot of respect for him. We know this.
-Asking how his day was, making sure he's okay.
-Buying/ making him tea.
-Taking him out for food or drinks, whatever Fukuzawa is preferring in the moment.
-Hugged him once. Was horrified about it. Was also embarrassed because he didn't even mean to like it just happened.
-Fukuzawa didn't mind and hugged him back. This only made Kunikida more embarrassed. Also I think Kunikida's face and ears go read when he's embarrassed.
Katai; (if you're including him)
-They've known each other for ten years. They know each other well.
-Kunikida visits him often. Normally he reminds him to do chores, or does the chores himself.
-Kunikida encourages Katai to go outside. He'll also tell Katai to try going out without his futon.
-They're very close! Kunikida knows basically everything about Katai, and knows how to help him out.
-Kunikida praises Katai. (all above canon and this too)
-Kunikida makes food for Katai. I think he does it because Katai doesn't eat healthy food often.
-Kunikida and Katai cuddle. Trust me guys (whatt I'm definitely not a kunikatai shipper hahaa that'd be so weird..)
-Kunikida tries to go out with Katai but because Katai is a hikikomori it's pretty hard to do.
-Kunikida listens to all of Katai's ramblings on literally anything. Katai will listen about Kunikida's ideals too.
-Kunikida gives Katai words of affection a lot. Katai is insecure and Kunikida knows. That is why.
----------------
Unintentionally he will headpat people at the agency. Like "Good work." and then suddenly his hand his on their head and he pats it. Not even for a specific reason, he's just did it so frequently to the younger members and now it happens to everyone.
He takes everyone out for food/ drinks seperately, just so they can have a little bonding moment.
----------------
This definitely didn't take like two or three days tee hee
Lots of tags because this took a lot of time

In water 7 now and mad at half the straw hats so I'm exposing their sins (also watching fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood so I've got those on the brain)
Luffy - gluttony
His hunger knows no bounds, and he's even put his friends at risk to satisfy it, like when he ate up the food stores while they were crossing the desert in Alabasta or when he fought Zoro in Whiskey Peak for cutting down people who had given them food. And not just eating, everything Luffy does is to excess. Not exactly the same but in a similar vein, he can be selfish sometimes and tactless, thinking more about his own feelings than others', leading to his failure to reason with and empathize with Usopp. (I lump this in with gluttony because the main reason I see gluttony as bad is because it's taking for yourself without consideration for others, as compared to greed which is often intentionally at the expense of others. Also "being unable to talk about your emotions and resolve interpersonal conflict without violence" isn't a sin, though maybe wrath would fit here?)
Nami - greed
She had good reasons for being a thief desperate for money before Arlong was defeated, but now her thirst for gold is more selfish. After growing up poor, she wants to be able to buy herself the paper and supplies and clothes that she never could before. She's also willing to put her friends in danger to get it, as shown in G-8 when she made everyone go back to retrieve the gold despite having a good escape opportunity. Her prioritizing money definitely had a role in Usopp's self-loathing spiral after he lost it.
Usopp - pride
This whole fight over the Merry is really more about his pride. He tells tall tales because he doesn't feel good about any of his own personal achievements. He lies because he feels that the truth about himself is unsatisfactory. Inside, he considers the acquisition of the Going Merry his one main contribution to the crew, and now the idea that the ship is replaceable makes him feel expendable too. He is surrounded by people aspiring to be the pirate king, the greatest swordsman, the greatest chef, the greatest navigator, and the greatest historian, and meanwhile he's just... some guy trying to be less of a coward. Usopp's pride makes it hard for him to open up to his friends about his insecurities and struggles, and so he chooses to fight instead of talking things over.
Zoro - sloth
Pretty much all Zoro does is fight, train, eat, drink, and sleep. He's constantly napping, even while important things are happening. He slept right through the first major storm that hit the Merry after entering the Grand Line, even though the crew needed his help. He gives his friends the impression that he doesn't care sometimes because of it. Zoro is left on board with Sanji after they dock at Water 7 and just sleeps, until Sanji gets fed up and leaves, and he instantly falls back asleep again. Though he's always ready to jump in to help fight, he's content to leave the talking and planning and negotiating to the rest of the crew. During the whole falling out with Usopp, he just stands back and watches, and doesn't even make an effort to comfort Chopper. He keeps his emotions bottled up inside so he doesn't have to deal with them.
Sanji - lust
For obvious reasons. He doesn't know when to quit or keep things to himself so he ends up making a lot of people uncomfortable. He can be very shallow and clearly places great value on appearances, as shown during his fight with Bon Clay when just the form of Nami had such an effect on him. He prioritizes beautiful women at his friends' expense. I also consider vanity to be tied with lust, and considering he's frequently sailing through all kinds of weather on a pirate ship in a three piece suit and he always has to have his hair *just so* I'd say he's quite vain. Personally, I believe that he mainly longs to be gentle and affectionate with someone, since he's always been treated so roughly by the people close to him in the past, but that would seem too "sissy" or something so he tries to save face by acting pervy. Maybe I'm just being delusional and making up excuses for him because he'd be so perfect if he wasn't a creep.
Chopper - envy
Chopper has always wanted to fit in. He wished he had a black nose like the other reindeer instead of a blue one. He wished he could still have a place among them after eating the human human fruit, and he wished he could be accepted by the people in the village. He wishes he were as brave and strong as some of the other members of the straw hats. Honestly, this is all fairly harmless except for the damage to his own self esteem, but to me, Chopper is an adorable little muffin who can do no wrong so this is the most I can come up with for him. (I'm so mad at Usopp for being mean to him.)
Robin - wrath
Mainly because it's the only one left but fma:b's representation of wrath in Fuhrer Bradley as cold, calculating, and secretly seething under the surface is really interesting to me and I feel like it could apply to Robin. She's always very quick to apply potentially lethal or at least crippling force to her foes, or I interpret it that way based on the camera (or whatever you call it in animation) panning away from her finishing attacks leaving only the sounds of necks and spines crackling, and then she's off very quickly without any signs of guilt. She acts level-headed, but in a way that feels very dangerous. She's probably had to get very good at masking her true feelings to survive. I'm still at a point where her backstory hasn't been fully revealed, but it's implied that she caused serious damage to a lot of people in the past. I'm very interested to see how that goes.
If sloth were not my primary sin I'd draw them all as homunculi... maybe someday...
Update: follow-up post

you could. probably think if some characters are texture eaters and if so which textures they would prefer or what reactions they'd have over disliked textures
@kimdokjafan replied
I would love to hear what you have to say about the party's food preferences! Things like favorite food, things they dislike/won't eat
i started answering this anon and then got this reply, so i'll combine them. got really long lol, food is such a complex topic!
bonnie enjoys the multi-textured fish head, so they're probably big on texture! i think they're starting to have enough cooking experience to get put off when a texture isn't correct. like the problem isn't the texture itself but rather that rice should not be like that, they overcooked it, yuck, ugh! they would probably make a new batch if possible. however, they're also used to eating what you have because it's all you have — sometimes the nice neighbor drops off her shitty mac n cheese and it's better than nothing, or you mix up salt and sugar for today's bread but you're almost out of flour — so they'll try to come up with a new use for the fucked-up batch where the weird texture works better, or just eat it themself. unpleasant, but better than serving it to someone else or wasting it! as for what they enjoy the most: lots of different textures mixed together, like a salad or deluxe burrito. and chewy things!
we know bonnie's favorite foods are pineapple, rice, and samosas. i'd say they love sweet things as most kids do, but they're really starting to prefer a little more complexity to their sweet treats, like the tart acidity of pineapple. rice is a great favorite bc it's a comforting plain staple, but it can also be used in such a variety of dishes, as the entire base or to add texture! bonnie likes spicy, sour, etc... bring on the flavor! honestly i don't think there's many ingredients they don't like, it's more often a case of that flavor doesn't go there, why would you do that??? maybe they haven't grown into bitter vegetables yet.
siffrin also likes the fish head, so they really enjoy a fun texture, and they like trying new foods as they travel — but when they don't like something they hate it. but they also hate to raise a fuss! so if they're eating with other people, they'll try to just eat around the offending element without making it too obvious that's what they're doing, and then claim they're just not that hungry. if they're by themself, they'll spit it out and rinse out their mouth and eat something crunchy. they don't like tomatoes, which is convenient bc they also don't like when sandwich bread gets soggy at all. they don't like mushrooms or caramalized onion. they enjoy super crunchy things and a nice thick soup!
we know malanga fritters are presumably his favorite. i think he likes mashed potatoes too. fish, of course, and hearty stews. he loves clam chowder! he used to be a big sweet pastries fan, but post-canon he pivots to fruity sweetness bc he can't stand caramel-marshmallow-candy sweetness anymore, and even fruit's on thin ice. most of his disliked foods are about the texture, not the taste. but he's also really sensitive to associations - if he coincidentally gets sick after eating something, eats something badly seasoned, etc, it'll put him off of that taste for a while even if he doesn't remember why.
iirc isabeau wasn't into the fish head. he likes simpler and more predictable foods! he gets yucked out by overripe fruits, but luckily it's usually pretty easy to tell if a fruit will be good. if he does accidentally bite into a bad one, he makes a face and swallows it as quickly as possible, and asks if anyone else wants the rest before he donates it to the local wildlife. he likes fluffy breads and nuts! he's the kind of guy to pack a stack of pb&js and an apple for lunch every day, just buying a different flavor of jam each time he runs out. he doesn't like anything too spicy or bitter! probably a cheese fiend too.
mirabelle isn't super particular about textures, but she is pickier about tastes; she doesn't like a couple common vegetables, like green beans and cooked carrots, and a couple common sauces, like mustard and marinara. she doesn't like nuts, but sometimes eats them anyway because they're so popular in dormont's house for some reason and she gets tired of refusing to eat them, and now she sorta hates them even more but also will absentmindedly stand there munching on them? in general if she doesn't like a food she's served she'll still try to eat enough to be polite, but sometimes can't manage it. some foods she loves are honey, olives, and apple pie. she does love plums too, but it's less that they're objectively her favorite taste and more that they're her thing. it's fun having a thing!
odile likes delicate textures like flaky pastries and watermelon, and doesn't like purely glop-based foods like oatmeal, though it's tolerable with a crunchy topping. she really enjoys a good meat, like a nice herby steak or buttery pork belly. she doesn't dislike sweets, but she doesn't indulge in them in often; when she does, she prefers lemony desserts or bitter chocolate. she finds most foods tolerable at least, and especially likes sharp flavors, like vinegar and vodka!

A Request from DeadTides of AO3!
"Hello, would you mind writing some vash x reader fluff? I was thinking something like the reader is very shy about Vash's flirting, he finds it absolutely cute, idk...
Thank you in advance!"
-
I didn't receive instructions on gender, so I kept it gender neutral ❤️ this will also be in Vash's pov!
A New Shade of Red
I had boarded the Sand Steamer which was on route to Octovern and made myself comfortable in the room I had paid extra for, so I didn't have to share with anyone. My stomach rumbled in retaliation at my lack of food so far today. I'd only had time for a café sandwich and a cup of coffee before getting in line for the Sand Steamer. With a sigh, I headed to the commons area where a few shops set up in addition to the concession stand I had been aiming to find. I stood in line noticing an absolute cutie in front of me! They hadn't turned around yet, but I just knew! The curves of their body, the choice in outfit, the lingering scent of shampoo under the perfume! This person was beautiful!
They were mumbling to themself as they fiddled with their wallet, dropping a quarter on the ground. It rolled behind them, tapping against my shoe, causing it to lay flat on the ground. They turned to pick up the quarter, when their eyes found mine. I was right; they were absolutely alluring. They paused, mouth agape. Did they recognize me? Did I startle them? Did I have something in my teeth?
"S-sorry to bother you." They said, dipping down to the floor to pick up their coin. Their voice was like a chorus of angels!
"N-No, that's alright. Can I just say that your eyes are quite lovely? Probably the most beautiful I've ever seen?" I had to tell them.
Now, usually when I tell a gorgeous person like this one something like this, they knock me away, or harrumph and ignore me.
But this one. They blushed. Turning beet red, they averted their eyes, shoulders scrunching up to their cheeks in an attempt to hide their lovely face.
"Oh, uh, thank you, Sir." Polite too!
"Say, um, why don't I buy your food? I know this lovely spot on the upper deck where we can sit and chat, if you'd like?"
"Oh, um, sure, I need some time out of my room anyway. They get kind of stuffy." They seemed to relax a little.
"Yeah, they can get that way. The ventilation isn't the greatest." I nodded. They said yes!
We ordered our food, and made our way to the upper deck. They didn't chat much. We found our spot that overlooked the sunset. The sky was turning a blazing red, orange, and pink before the transition to the east, where the sky was already turning a dark blue speckled with the brighter stars of the evening. A perfect scene for a love story.
"So have you been on the Sand Steamer before?" They finally broke our silence as they took a bite of their food.
"Yes, I've been on it a few times. It's pretty expensive sometimes, so I travel in other ways too."
"What kind of places do you travel to?"
"A little bit of everything. Sometimes to visit friends, sometimes to see the sights." I shrugged. I didn't need to tell her that I was Vash the Stampede. I really wanted to tell the story about the duel I had on this deck though. It was so intense.
"I see. I'm headed to Octovern from December to see some friends, myself."
"That's quite a distance. Must be good friends." I nodded.
"I don't make friends all that easily, so I like to keep the ones I have." They were absentmindedly picking at the sides of their fingers as they spoke. A nervous habit?
"I seem to think you're doing a good job right now.
I think we're friends already." I smiled at them. And there it was, a blush as deep as the reddened sky. I was beginning to like this color on them. I wanted to see it more often.
"R-really? Well, then, it's nice to meet you." They held out their hand for me to shake. They were so stiff as they introduced themself by name. I took their hand, giving a gentle grip that mirrored theirs.
"I'm Vash."
"I-I know." As if their face could be any more flushed.
-
"Vash, that's so embarrassing!" They swayed back and forth as they held their hands to their face, their ears nearly releasing puffs of hot air from their increased heat.
"Aw, but Mayfly, you look so cute in that hat! It suits you!" I bent down to try being at face height.
"You think everything I wear suits me!" They peeked out from behind their fingers.
"Yeah, and you look gorgeous without everything too~" I whispered to their ear. A sharp squeak came from their throat, and they rested their head against my coat, both of which were now the same color.
It had been six months since we met on the Sand Steamer. Three since we started dating. Their inability to handle even the smallest of flirting gave me an inexpressible amount of joy. They deserved every compliment I gave them. We had talked about their past a few times. A lonely childhood, an absent family, and malnourished social skills made it hard for them to make friends, much less find a partner. If anyone understood their loneliness, I guess it was me. They were still getting used to having companionship, and someone who actually loved them. They were always a blushing mess, but it was great to know that they took my words to heart. I meant every one of them. Just another reason for red to still be my favorite color.

How good are all the ROs at math?
(I’m totallyyy not procrastinating on my math homework)
I hope you finished your homework! 📚
Blade: he's fairly good at math, he doesn't need to use it often but if you put a math problem in front of him, he could solve it fairly quickly! I'd say he's certainly more mathematically-minded than he is artistically 😅
Trouble: he's really good at doing math in his head (especially when it comes to stuff like geometry/measuring physical distance and angles--that comes part and parcel with being a sniper) but if you were to make him do math on a piece of paper and explain his process, he'd suddenly be terrible at it? And I think more "obscure" math involving lots of theorems and formulae is a little beyond him, but if you explained it to him in practical terms he can understand, he'd pick it up fairly well!
Tallys: not great at traditional math, complex mathematics isn't really a part of the Elvish curriculum, especially since many tribes don't even use currency, but not terrible at it, either! Like Trouble, she's best at calculating things like angles and distance, and she can multiply/divide pretty big numbers in her head, but she wouldn't be like incredible at calculus or algebra or anything!
Shery: she's excellent at math, probably the strongest of the Shepherds besides Riel! That's why she's a really amazing bookkeeper and is so good at tracking the Order's supplies and requisitions, inventory, balancing their books and funds, and etc.! She was really strong in math at school, which was why she was originally going to be an apprentice/bookkeeper for a merchant!
Riel: brilliant at math, as expected, especially for a businessman. It's actually not what he considers his 'strongest' subject--that would be more 'logic' (like logical puzzles or strategies) or analysis (both of data and of people/trends)--but he's pretty flawless at it and was trained by both his father and his adoptive father at running large business syndicates and trading houses, so he'd better be skilled at it!
Chase: not... great at it, and not interested in being any better! He knows just enough to keep things running with the Thieves Guild and making/stealing enough to keep afloat, but it's more of a street smarts thing than a math thing (like knowing x amount of this thing will buy them enough food to get through the winter). He deals more in ballpark figures than exact numbers! It's vastly better for him to leave the actual math of things to people like Kato and Ari. But he's also the type of person where, if you were to ask him, 'what's 96 x 32?' he'd be like, 'no idea,' but if you were to say, 'if I had 96 ruby necklaces and they each sold for 32 dukes, how much of a profit would I turn?' he would figure it out pretty quickly lol like 'well how big of a cut is your fence taking?' So I guess it's more about phrasing it in ways that interest him, which is hard to do!
Red: pretty solid at math, not like an instantaneous math genius but he was getting A's in class! He's more interested in things like history or research-based magic and arcana, but he's about the same as Blade wherein he can do big numbers in his head and could solve whatever math problem you slid in front of him with decent ease!
Ayla: not great, not horrible, about the same as Tallys! She does well enough to get by in her day-to-day life--like she'll notice if someone shortchanges you during a sale, etc.--but she's not doing math for fun, let's just put it that way! She's the type who typically has to write the numbers out in the air/dirt/on a piece of paper in order to solve them, but she's not totally hopeless, either!
Briony: horrific. truly one of her worst subjects. she's only barely gotten used to how many lyss go into a deucalion and regularly hands merchants the wrong amount of money just hoping they'll either be decent enough to tell her she's wrong or that she can take the loss if she completely bungled it lol. never ever ever ask her to do math for you. aside from basic addition/subtraction/multiplication tables, don't ask her to calculate tip for you, don't ask her to figure out angles, don't ask her how many apples are in seven bushels, she has no idea and will just look at you blankly!
Lavinet: she's pretty strong in math--I would say the scale goes Riel -> Shery -> Lavinet -> Trouble -> Red = Blade -> Halek -> Ayla = Tallys -> Chase -> Briony! She has to do a lot of math and accounting to keep Lockwood running and functioning well, and obviously she has a lot of education under her belt, so she's very good at it! It's not her favorite subject by any means, but you can count on her to have her numbers right!
Halek: he's actually pretty decent in math, he just can't be arsed. So if you were to ask him 'what's 15% of 600' he could figure it out pretty quickly, he just doesn't want to. why are you making him use in his brain that way? get an abacus

hi for the ask game,,, can I learn a bit more about Kat,,, specifically with 🧐 and 🍝 (yes I know the obvious answer for the latter but like. does she like any other foods)
This one has been sitting in my drafts for a while. I finished it, saved it before adding tags, and then completely forgot about it lmaooo
🧐- Is your OC more logical or emotional?
Ough. That's a tough one. I'd say overall, Kat is more logical. She's been on the run for long enough that she knows what to do to survive, and she HAS to do that. If she slips up, even once, and word gets out she's a shapeshifter, that's a death sentence. She has to constantly balance staying completely inconspicuous with getting enough nutrients to keep herself in human form- basically, balance being a normal human with having to kill people to live. And because of that, she is very logical.
However, that's offset by the fact that if Kat ever gets in an emotional state, it's awful. Every now and then the stress just punches her in the face and she has a complete breakdown. These are few and far in between (though become more common during her time with Paisley&Crew, since they help her learn to manage her emotions better), but are often so bad she'll be in this mood for hours, even days. And, since at some point, she always has to go back to trying to survive- the more logical thought process- Kat never gets the time or ability to really recover from those breakdowns, which means the stress keeps building more and more until the next. Rinse and repeat.
🍝- What is/are your OC's favourite food(s)?
Haha. Well
Besides the obvious answer (To be fair she does that mostly to survive, she doesn't enjoy it much), Kat... doesn't actually eat that much. There are very few foods she can eat that won't mess up her body composition and appearance, and it's hard enough to stay as a human without other foods messing that up. So that immediately rules out a lot of fruits, veggies, meats, dairies- basically anything that is naturally grown or animal product will mess up her composition.
However, that doesn't mean she can't eat anything else! A lot of processed foods, which have had nutrients taken out/altered, won't affect her enough for it to be an issue! My current scale for how much food affects her depends on how close that food is to it's natural state- so an apple freshly picked from the tree will fuck her up, apple pie or applesauce won't affect her as much. So thank goodness Kat lives in America, land of the overly processed foods!
Rest of the answer below the cut, since this is getting long and I'll be talking about Kat's actual eating habits (TW: cannibalism)
Which. To be fair overly processed food fucking sucks and if I had to rely on McDonald's burgers to live I would also resort to cannibalism
The issue with Kat is that she's stuck between eating highly-processed garbage food, which sucks but at least it won't mess up her composition, and eating human flesh, which tastes delicious but also requires illegalities to acquire. Remember kids: cannibalism isn't illegal, it's how you procure the meat that is.
I really do think that, despite how much she hates it, Kat will always prefer the flesh, organs, bones, and/or other vitals of whatever species she's disguised as over any "normal" food she can eat. Because bodies are filled with a bunch of tasty nutrients that her body needs in order to keep a consistent form, and processed foods don't have those! Where else is she gonna find food that tastes good?
I think it's best described as that feeling you have when you're craving awful food. Like it's late at night and a shitty hotdog or fast food burger sounds fantastic and you buy one and it is the best thing you've ever eaten. That's how Kat feels about cannibalism. Under normal circumstances (her body at a standard composition with enough nutrients to maintain that form), she's disgusted with the idea of eating human meat and will go out of her way to avoid it. But when she's hungry (low on nutrients and struggling to keep a consistent form), human flesh is absolutely fucking delicious.
I mean, she probably thinks human meat is delicious either way. It's just a matter of moralities, and whether or not she needs it to survive in the moment.
But, to finally answer your question: Kat is a very big fan of sushi! Raw fish fucks her up extremely bad, but she doesn't care. As long as she eats it in moderation and not very often, she can recover quick enough. She also has a very big sweet tooth, especially for cake-like substances like muffins (<-Which can often come ultra-processed, so she can eat them with minimal problems), brownies, and cakes.
#Kat is like lactose intolerant when it comes to raw fish#Something about fish messes her up so badly. However she loves it enough to keep eating it despite the harm it causes#Marci Answers#Project Scepsis OS#OC CopyKat#Tw Cannibalism

In search of compostable clothing closures
Making clothes that are 97% biodegradable is surprisingly easy. Pick a natural fibre fabric, buy some 100% cotton or linen thread, and you're there. (You can even get 100% cotton overlocker thread - though you have to go searching for it.)
Those last few percent, though? That can be tough. One of the biggest offenders is closures. While there are plenty of clothes that don't need something to hold them shut, I confess I like having the option. Below is a round-up of various closures, and their compostability.
Note: for the purpose of this article, I'm treating metal closures as "compostable", in the sense that they're 1) easy to remove before you compost the rest of the object, and 2) infinitely reusable on other things, unless they break - at which point they're usually recyclable using our current commercial systems. And remember, re-using things that already exist is always preferable to buying new, "better" items.
Buckles/Rings
While less common than other closure methods, I find buckles, D-rings and O-rings are great when used in the right context. They're usually metal or plastic, neither of which are compostable - but metal will last practically forever, if it's good quality. Plastic tends to degrade over time, especially if exposed to the sun.
I find rings especially quick and easy to use, and a set of D-rings can give a very fine-tuned amount of tightening. My favourite belt uses two square D-rings instead of a buckle closure.
Buttons
The humble button, while ubiquitous now, took a while to catch on. Buttons as a common method of closure didn't become popular in Europe* until about the early 1300s, around the same time that the tailoring revolution[^] happened.
Nowadays, plastic is by far the most common material that buttons are made from. It's cheap and sturdy, but obviously it doesn't compost. So what are some alternatives?
Liz Haywood, a pattern maker who focuses on zero-waste designs, has thought a bit about this conundrum here. There's photos of several different DIY compostable and recycled buttons in her post.
For a completely compostable garment, wood, leather, horn, fabric, and thread buttons are your best bet. If, like most sensible people, you remove the buttons from something that's about to be worm food before you ditch it, the options expand considerably - metal, clay, recycled bottle caps, even glass buttons are all possible. You can have a lot of fun with making your own buttons - to match an outfit, or contrast with it, or maybe you'd like a different button for every buttonhole...
Another, related option is cufflinks - 18th century shirts often used cufflinks on the sleeves and one or two small thread buttons on the collar. That way one set of cufflinks could be used on multiple shirts, showing off a bit of wealth, while saving them from the (admittedly harsh) laundry practices of the day.
[*]: I have no doubt that buttons became popular in other parts of the world, too, but unfortunately I don't know much about it. Europe in the 14-15th century is my main area of study, mostly due to the fact that the historical re-enactment group that I'm a part of operates in that time period.
[^]: The tailoring revolution refers to the period where garments for the higher classes underwent a dramatic change in the way they were cut out. The very short version is, fashion garments shifted from primarily rectangular construction to more form-fitting, using the precursors of many standard cutting practices used today.
Elastic
While elastic isn't technically a closure, it's used that way in many different objects. Most elastic nowadays is made from polyester and synthetic rubber. No composting there.
But, all is not lost! You can now find elastics made of natural rubber and cotton! (I was quite impressed by this, to be honest. I thought I'd have to give up elastic for good.)
The downside, as is usual when you actually give a crap about the planet, is cost. You'll mostly only find it for sale online (Etsy has several options), and it can be more expensive (especially factoring in shipping). Prices on the compostable elastics I found were comparable to a mid-range polyester elastic atSpotlight (before shipping). I think that's actually pretty good, all things considered. (I don't trust the cheapest elastic, it loses its stretch ridiculously fast. A fact I discovered to my sorrow only after buying a 20m roll of it.)
As a bonus, supposedly natural rubber elastic lasts longer than synthetic elastics - this has been my experience with many natural vs synthetic things, but I haven't tested natural elastic specifically to know for sure.
The biggest downside here is the rubber - if you're dealing with a latex allergy, this is not the solution for you.
Hooks and Eyes
While these have fallen out of favour over the years, they do have their uses in a compostable closet. They're easy to buy, and easy to make if you can get hold of the wire - all you need is a set of needle-nose pliers.
Being metal, the hook/eye can be re-used until it breaks - which takes a while. Like buttons, they're easy to take off a garment and move to another one. Unlike buttons, they don't need a buttonhole - you can move both the hook and eye almost anywhere on a garment, really refining the fit of an item.
They are, however, somewhat limited in that application - hooks and eyes work best if they're under a small but constant amount of tension, pulling in opposite directions. I once tried to use hooks and eyes on a loose-fitting medieval tunic, and it just didn't work.
Laces and Ties
Before buttons became The Big Thing in medieval Europe (and for quite a few centuries after), laces and ties were the closure method du jour. Why did they stick around so long? The same reason pyjama pants often have a drawstring in them - they add adjustability to garments in a simple and easy to use (and create!) way. Stays and corsets are one of the most recognisable examples of this concept in action.
Lacing does work better on some things than others, but just about anywhere that you'd put elastic nowadays can likely use a drawstring instead. And there are some patterns (YouTube link) for adjustable garments that use lacing as an integral part of the design.
The main downside for me? They can be slow to use, and awkward, if you have difficulty with fine motor control. Mine is variable enough that I'll usually opt for a different closure, unless lacing or ties really is the best or only option.
Snaps
Confession: I adore snaps. They're fast and easy to use when my hands don't want to co-operate, and they can be wonderfully decorative as well as functional.
There are two general types - those you sew into place like you sew on hooks and eyes, and ones that are applied to the fabric using a press. The former takes more time to install, but can be replaced relatively easily if they stop working. The latter can technically be replaced, but it's a LOT harder and you risk damaging the fabric behind it while you try. They're also more likely to rip out of the fabric in the first place.
As for material, it's pretty much just metal and plastic (sometimes a combination). From a sustainability standpoint, metal is the better option - as long as you recycle it at the end of its life.
Zips
Zips are everywhere nowadays. They're easy to use, but can be hard to replace when they break. Putting them in correctly isn't always a cake-walk either. And in terms of compostability, the answer is definitely "no".
The vast majority of zippers on the market use a polyester or poly-cotton tape, with plastic or metal teeth set into it, and plastic or metal tabs and pulls. Because of the mix of materials, and the size of a typical zip, most municipal waste streams can't take them for recycling. However, textile recyclers` such as Upparel usually take zips (and the things they're attached to!).
I also found a couple of different manufacturers creating zips out of post-consumer recycled materials - a pleasant surprise, and a strong move towards closing waste streams.
[`]: Clothing retailers are increasingly taking responsibility for their part in reducing waste by offering recycling programs through their stores. Recycling Near You and Frankie list some of the major programs in Australia, though it's worth noting that most of those listed only want whole textiles or large pieces - to my knowledge, Upparel is the only place that will take scraps, broken textiles, and related.
If I've missed a closure type, or you know of places selling compostable or truly recyclable versions of any of the above, I would love to hear about it. While I'm (currently) a far less prolific sewist than the blog name implies, I want to be deliberate and thoughtful in my sewing choices going forward.
Also, as a last random thought, I wonder if anyone has started making bioplastic versions of any of the above? *Wanders off to do some research...*

FSR rambles PT 4
Over explaining the decisions in my own comic once again. UwU
Smth fun about these pages is ZELDA. My lady.
Something I'm not sure was how well this portrayed that this was shortly after they put the sword back (like maybe a year at most?)
I kind of like to think for FSR at least, they were all around 13-15 during the events of the manga (This isn't my opinion tbh, though in the bonus pages they buy child tickets for the theme park so they aren't canonically adults.)
Link's old enough to drink in FSR so he's at least 21.
(I've never really liked the idea they're YOUNG kids during FS it just lends itself better to FSR specifically. I really write them however old I want for whatever scenario I'm writing because Link's as fluid as a Vocaloid when it comes to making fan works and cannon is my bitch. Writing them as adults during the events of the manga usually lends itself to MORE writing opportunities but not for FSR. I don't really give a shit what other people decide to do when making fan works either.)
You'd also notice the 7 years it takes FS Link to pull the sword is a reference to the seven years Link misses during OOT.
Anyways onto the page itself: Zelda's a sweet girl who cares deeply about her childhood friend. Link means a lot to her and she makes time for him. He waits for her too. Zelink shippers I got you lol.
Something I always found WEIRD was how Link doesn't talk in the pages after he reformed. That's so odd to me. The fan "theory" It's basically cannon in BOTW/TOTK at least Link's selectively mute. That Link's mute is also something I took inspiration for FSR Link.
So Link doesn't respond to Zelda verbally but she still makes the effort to talk to him.
Shadow Link is very disapointed he can't get hugged by the princess. Because as he stated earlier in the comic he loves her. Zelda addressed him too so she tries to include him.
This page shows off just how gradual the curse was: So funny enough at the START of the comic it was actually going to be explained how Link utterly deteriorated but I decided to add that later. (Wanted to get to funny shenanigans with the boys so I put it off)
It started with him just hearing whispers, then full voices then the what I call "Headspace" fully appeared.
Blue mentions liking Zelda's hugs Haha "Where's my hug???"
Vio just says Zelda's name, Vio's relationship with Zelda is something I'd love to expand upon later down the line.
Green's more focused on food oof.
Red's just happy to see Zelda.
Green was right about being hungry, so Zelda invites him over for DINNER-
Shadow Link's still just vibing.
Zelda lifting Link up in this panel just shows she's there for him.
Link is just dealing with the fact he can hear them by himself. Also dad is still alive.
Lol he's actually making his dad proud which was something he didn't do often before the OG book.
Zelda hanging out with Link and his father kind of shows them as a family.
Shadow Laughing in the bg but he's away from the rest.
So the captain died in a fight, and Link blames himself for it because he can't think straight when there's 4 people constantly talking.
Daddy's demise was really the start of the snowballing downhill for him.
Lol. So Vio's daddy issues are apparent for the SECOND time in the comic. He was uncomfortable even bringing up Link's dad before and this is partially the reason why:
Vio's the only one not crying or overtly emotional about their dad dying.
But something to consider is if he's truly talking to Link or himself in that panel. Because the man is still SHOOK. We have the liberty of SEEING Vio here, but Link doesn't.
So he takes this statement very poorly because:
Well, Vio's seeming "no shits given" attitude is unsettling enough coming from an outside source but that IS apart of Link.
A part of him, seemingly doesn't care his own father kicked the bucket and that's scary to him.
I think anybody would have lost it at this point.
Too bad Zelda saw Link screaming his lungs out at his father's grave lmao. Poor man.
Bro can't do anything but plead for Zelda to help him at this point. She's really the only person he feels he can turn too anyway.
Our girl comes in clutch with them hugs.
This was the conformation Link was actually not speaking in the comic Felt like I had to outright state it cause I wasn't sure if people would notice it otherwise.
Something I REALLY wish was a thing in Zelda manga:
Zelda and Link BOTH lose their parents. Usually their mothers.
And we never get any sort of bonding over that. And I find that a complete waste of potential.
I'd like to dive further into that with FSR or some other Zelda work I do because: HOLY SHIT THEY COULD BOND OVER THEIR LOST PARENTS????
Also Zelda's unfortunate phrasing here with "You can talk to me" she means just, that he can confide in her in general lol.
He's still struggling to actually speak. Poor guy.
While keeping him from doing knight duties kept him PHYSICALLY safe it was just another thing he lost to the curse Vaati laid on him.
So the obvious: Zelda had to watch the person she cares about most completely fall apart before her eyes and she couldn't do shit.
They weren't even aware this WAS A CURSE from Vaati mind you. They were completely in the dark trying to solve this.
Something horrific about this situation you might have also considered:
Not only did Zelda have to watch Link deteriorate but so did Shadow Link.
Shadow Link couldn't even offer much comfort. Zelda could offer physical comfort and attempt emotional comfort but Shadow was completely fucked.
And with the new context of "Link was mostly mute" the fact he wasn't actively TALKING to Shadow Link makes a lot more sense.
Still didn't make that fact any less painful in the moment.
Shadow literally could not participate, was isolated and lonely and had to watch someone else slowly get isolated and lonely and couldn't even help.
Link and Shadow Link literally felt the same way and could not help each other even though they were right next to each other all that time.
Also with the new context of what Link was going through, Shadow's persistence to be there for Vio starts to make a whole lot more sense: He can actually DO something now.
Vio's just stating the obvious at this point and his broken record nature really pissed Link off.
I'm sure you noticed what he wore color wise matched his emotions lol.
Vio technically is 100% right: They think Gannon is in the sword. It would literally be INSANE to pull it knowing that.
But Link's kinda at the point of not giving a shit.
Zelda would get hurt no matter what his "solution" to the problem ended up being.
Shadow Link trying to cheer Link up by reminding him he's there is so sad. Mghhhh
And for the first time in the flashback we actually have Link fully acknowledge Shadow Link's presence.
Vio was outright in denial the man was still alive and didn't want to acknowledge his existence so Link fully embracing Shadow Link here was a big moment between the two of them.
Shadow Link started to figure out what the man was planning but couldn't do squat about it. (He also couldn't communicate with the 4 or HEAR THEM.)
Link shows up in the head space! :D
His words imply he wasn't SURE he could properly communicate with Green like this alone...Which is no surprise considering Vio thinks how odd it is they were able to do that in the first place.
I kinda scrambled to think of what to have him look like hah. Ended up with him wearing white. Since white is the lack of color, white reflects all wavelengths of light so it literally kinda REJECTS color. (Apposed to Black which absorbs light, which funny enough his pants are black...)
And it symbolizes rebirth, peace stuff like that.
It can also symbolize death but we're ignoring that one lmao.
His nails are all the colors + Shadow Link too.
Lmfao when you gaslight yourself.
Okay in all seriousness the Link lays down just how DIRE the situation is since the other 3 don't seem to be quite aware.
And the "Promise" Green made to Link is what had Green so shook at the start of the comic for.
And the weight of the line "Can I trust you?" really sinks in as we'll see.
Link's kinda spooky haha. You can tell he wasn't sure Green was going to help him but that's quickly overtaken by how overjoyed he is Green is for sure on board.
One of my favorite panels from this batch is how happy he is. He's so relived he can finally just rest.
Green can't though. The crushing weight of keeping everything "Okay" is a heavy burden to bare and Dark Link spits those words right back into Green's face, and just holds him.
Green doesn't seem to hate the hug as much as Vio did hah.
Green doesn't even seem to acknowledge his presence while Vio not only NOTICED but was actively terrified of him to the point of trying to grab his sword.
He also mocked Vio more throwing Vio's own words back in his face, but just repeats what Link said to Green.
How. Odd.
And that's all for this batch. Hope ya come back to read my rumbly thoughts about my own comic.

Hi! I hope you're having a good day. I'm supposed to be doing homework, but I got distracted by the booping thing and now I'm here.
If you have the time, I'd like to request a romantic matchup with a Tokyo Revengers character. I'm nonbinary - they/them pronouns - and pansexual (I apologize if this creates too big of a pool for characters). I can't say that I have a type either. Whether it be someone who's soft and kind or confident and strong headed, I'm weak for them. What can I say, I love a little bit of everyone. I'm an INFP-T who is often drowning in overdue homework only to pull a few all-nighters back to back to catch up, and cry even though I put myself in that position (my sleep schedule is in shambles). My parents are protective of me because I'm the youngest of the children by a decade and not very strong. I'm an even 5'. Paired with shitty eyesight and small frame, I'm not menacing at all. It also doesn't help that I greet everyone with a smile, even when faced with snarky comments or someone I'm greatly upset with. Of course, this doesn't mean I won't get angry later and rant for a good hour or so through tears. For some reason, no matter how calm I am on the inside, I start crying when crying to express myself in serious situations. (if anyone has an idea on how to stop this, please help)
Since I'm nonbinary, I try to lean into a more androgynous look, but my mom still tries to instill a sense of "womanhood" in me (which gives me anxiety and a lot of body dysphoria). It makes me lean away from more feminine colors in clothing, which sucks because I'm a stickler for a cute pastel shirt. That being said, I try not to let that get to me by wearing whatever I want because I also strongly believe that colors and clothes don't relate to gender. I usually wear baggier tops at least because I can't buy a binder yet.
I like listening to people talk about themselves or anything that interests them, as long as they don't mind me rambling about something also. My mom has told me I'd make a really good therapist because I always help her break down her problems and get a different view on things. My sister vents to me frequently because she feels I offer a place of no judgement and she can speak freely.
A lot of my personal joy comes from seeing others happy. In a friend group, I'm often the one trying to include everyone and make people laugh, even if I'm anxious myself. Even though I can get swept up in my emotions, I always stop and think about things in a logical view (which sometimes leads to me taking action before realizing I should've thought it through). I definitely wouldn't do well in the TKR universe in terms of fighting, but I'd probably figure out some way to be helpful because I hate feeling like I'm not contributing anything. I also like to think I have a pretty good pain tolerance, so maybe I could buy time or something.
I've been told I'm very extroverted and outgoing, but I actually have a low social battery and often find myself overwhelmed in social outings with lots of people or loud noises. I almost started crying in downtown Seattle and New York City when I was on vacation (even though I was having fun). This can lead me to shutting down at times and going relatively non-verbal. Overall, I'd describe my personality as laid-back, open-minded, and not confrontational. I try to push my way through my insecurities and short-comings, but things hardly work out the way I want them to.
I like video games and sleeping in, but I'll push my own hobbies aside for people I enjoy hanging out with. I'm not too picky about food, as long as it isn't spicy (i'm a bit of a wimp). I also really enjoy sweets - cakes, pastries, cookies, candies, chocolates. I love them all. I often end up not eating because I either get distracted or I simply don't feel like it. Technically, I'm allergic to dairy and tomatoes and I can get really nauseous or itchy, but my favorite foods often have those ingredients so I act like I'm immune.
Anyways, I apologize for the long description. I hope I followed all your rules and gave you everything you need. Please take your time, I am in no rush and I know life is always busy. I hope you have a good day!
Hello. The wait it finally over. Sorry it took so long. Things got crazy. Let's just jump right into it!
You Got...
Souya Kawata!!!!
He is really good with people and very patient. If you got overwhelmed and needed time, he would be there for you anyway he can.
He would make you the best foo. Anything you want, he will make!
He is a good listener. Will listen to you for hours
Would tell you everyday that you are amazing and that he loves for you!
He would protect you. You being safe is the most important thing to him!
He would help you get anything done that you need. He would keep you on track.
He would like that you are laid back. He already has Smiley, so someone in his life who is chill would be nice.
Video game dates. He would play a mean Mario Kart. I think he would pick Yoshi!
I hope you enjoy

When i started this thowing rock challenge for My Time at Sandrock, I went into it expecting to- you know- having to do a lot of quarrying and mining (mostly the mining). Relics are decent stat bonuses, and they provide passive relationship points to everyone who visits throughout the day. Small, yeah, but they take up so little room.
You can also donate one to the museum to get the rewards from that, and reputation points for your workshop rating. Already got the musical shotgun before the bridge was ever built. You know- that thing you get for donating 100 different items? Yeah. I have that- not that it's doing me any good, what with shotguns being a banned item this run. (Also, the phone-keyboard weapon 'Ragequit' is just... *chefs kiss* brilliant.)
What i did not expect, but really should have, was the sheer amount of data discs I'd collect and their game breaking value. 3 Gols doesn't seem like a lot, but you earn a bunch when you clear out each ruin layer of its sand and stone. And the price is pretty often closer to 4 - 5 Gols instead of 3, due to inflation. And you can sell them in a pretty decent number of places.
Blue Moon, Commerce Guild, By the Stairs, Mask Man, City Hall, Water World...
You basically hold on to Data Discs for one of three reasons alone: either you need to research something at Qi's, or you have a nasty spending habit and need to store Gols in a form that isn't easily spendable. Or you need to buy crops. I have... set myself back a bit by forgetting to buy what I need before selling them to upgrade my house and buildings.
And sure, 2k to 5k for a full stack of data discs isn't much depending on the inflation rate, but I can get near about half a stack from just a full day of mining.
Splitting my time between an A-B-C pattern of:
A: Commissions + sand fishing (dried sandacuda is OP for early game, and it's carrying me pretty well going into Gecko Station. I only need ~13 to regain full SP, and I can make waay more than that in my drying racks.
B: Commissions + Full Day Ruin Diving
C: Commissions + Side Quests + Timed Quests + Water/Fertilizer Top-up on Garden + Buying stuff in town I need (mostly water, more fertilizer, straw, and food)
I'm pretty much loaded. All throughout A-B-C, I've got items in my smelters and processing machines to make commissions easier. I've also got my garden pumping out Sandrice like there's no tomorrow- because there will be no tomorrow if I run out of sandrice and can't fish for more sandacuda.
But those data discs are basically free money, since they only get used to research crap and buy crops from burgess and zeke- which I then in turn make into even more money.
My haul from just layers 1 & 2 of Eufaula Salvage Ruins and an entire day. I get waay more when I go into the lower layers of the ruins.
Sure, I smelt down the ore into ingots and sell those, craft them into parts and sell those, and even turn in the crafted parts for commissions, but I also sell those data discs because- what else am I using them for? Not relics- catori screwed herself out of that by giving me a relic restoration machine I still haven't 'donated' back to her.

Hello, and happy Blorbo blusday!! I'm well *checks clock* 1h late gasp! As an excuse I can only say that today I have been packing and I forgot it was Thursday. (As usual I am @writeblr-of-my-own) ANYWAYS. For today's question, I'd like to know about food preference and cooking skills of your blorbo(es)! What can they cook, what they like to eat, whether they are good in the kitchen, or better away from it and close to a fire extinguisher!
Hello! It seems I am late as well! About four hours till blorbo blursday ends for me.
Anyways, food!
First up, Twuecud: (this is gonna be long)
Gage is an absolutely horrible cook. He can barely cook oatmeal without burning it somehow. This incorrect quote fits him:
Nicole: Ew. What kind of tea is this? Gage: I boiled gatorade.
I think hes a sandwich guy as for food preference.
Tylee loves anything if you put sprinkles on it, 'cause it "looks prettier." When they went camping she only brought jellybeans and goldfish for food. She is not trusted in the kitchen. She will get distracted while cooking and set off the fire alarm.
Alison loves chips. A true connoisseur, she will tell you anything you need to know about them. Although when it comes to cooking it starts well, but ends up burnt every time. (Probably because of her curse, did I ever mention that?)
Nicole is loyal to Popsi, the sponsored drink in her favorite show. She refuses to follow a recipe when baking. It ends up with a lot of flour on the floor, and lumpy cakes. She can decorate them well though, with swirly bows and perfect cursive. She bakes cakes just to decorate them, throwing them out afterwards. Unless she forgets and an unlucky person comes along to take a bite, ending up with a mouthful of salt and under cooked batter.
Jee likes to help Nicole decorate sometimes, as he's majoring in graphic design, (is that a real major?) He is very lazy when it comes to food, ordering pizza and eating ramen when he can. He put's peanut butter on foods that shouldn't ever have peanut butter, and his friends often catch him doing it and try to get him to stop.
Vishal is not aware of what cooking is. He was fed specially made food from professional cooks,('cause rich), and he probably hasn't ever set foot in a kitchen. Once he discovers them though, I bet he'll love burritos.
Mikal is the only competent chef. He is the only one with enough patience to watch a boiling pot. But of course he tries to make machines to do things for him. He likes cooking a lot more when it's for friends and not just for himself. He likes to impress them. As for eating food, he loves all things bread. And he's Jewish so he doesn't eat pork.
-
Now 1950 Again:
Daniel can cook surprisingly well if he actually tries, not so good at making a plate look good though. He loves brownies, especially the ones his mom makes.
Dr.Marv cannot cook to save his life. He eats whatever's lying around, whether that be a stale taco shell, or leftover takeout. Food was something his wife always made, and just thinking about a homemade meal makes him sad. (woah didn't realize how much trauma dr marv must have holy crap)
-
And finally, How Hope Made Her a Hero:
Norah does not have many food options as of now, just what she can manage to buy from what little money she can earn because her father certainty isn't helping. Which mostly consists of bread and jam that Miss. Marmel gives her for free. She could probably cook well considering a little fact that comes in later ;) I think she'd love fish a lot.
Rufus is good at the hunting and killing part, but cooking not so well. He possesses the determination and patience to cook, but is clueless for the steps to take. Norah will leave him to watch any meat cooking while she goes and does something else, and Rufus is eager to help.
Alphair uses magic of course to cook all his meals. If he doesn't understand a meal though, like a really complicated recipe, the magic will get confused and make a disaster. If you told him to make a grilled cheese sandwich without magic I think he would cry.
Whoo that's about all! Thank you for the ask I loved talking about this!

I know you’re working on the other ask but I had some more questions.
What is Doc/Katona’s love language? How does Katona respond to Doc’s nicknames of “beautiful” and “gorgeous”? Does she have specific ways she likes to be touched or talked to? Is she taller than Doc and if so, how does he feel about that?
And for Katona and Theron: what is their friendship like? What sort of things do they get up to? Does Doc ever get involved or is it purely Katona and Theron who hang out? What is Katona’s favorite and least favorite things about Doc and Theron?
this turned out quite long so i'm putting it under readmore jkhfakjfg
i think katona is more of a gift giver -- she'd buy or make anything that reminded her of her husband, while doc is more of an acts of service and quality time guy. physical touch is a thing for both of them.
at first katona find the nicknames a bit annoying, but starts to like them pretty quickly. she may not exactly share his views on her looks -- "i look fine, but nothing outstanding. aside from, you know, the veins and glowing eyes" is something she'd say -- but she appreciates it nonetheless. it's something nice amidst whatever disaster is happening at the time. makes her smile every time.
as for ways of being talked to, i think she prefers a casual, humorous banter kind of talk. unless we're talking about sex, in which case she has a praise kink.
touch is a bit hard to answer, but i think she likes having her hair braided/played with, and having doc's hand on her waist is one of her favorite ways of physical contact, alongside hugs and putting one's head on their partner's shoulder.
and oh YEAH she's taller. she's like 6'8, while i see doc as average or below average height. something like 5'9? having him shorter would be fun (not in a demeaning way though. he's just a little guy. stealing @rubensmuse's text here)
but would be too much of a height difference. so he's about average in my canon
i'd say he was just surprised at first -- not every day you see anyone, let alone a human, over two meters tall -- but quickly got used to it. he likes it, it suits katona's personality and skills in his opinion, makes him feel defended when she's nearby. she could snap him in half and he loves it and also knows that she wouldn't.
now for theron. i think they really bonded during kotfe/et, when they had to closely work together and got to know each other better. chaotic adhd siblings. i think most of their shenanigans either happen when theron asks katona to help him on whatever job he has to do, which can be a lot of things, from recovering intel to getting new allies or assets. we all know how theron operates, and katona isn't afraid of doing some insane bullshit either. also i think there is a lot of grabbing food and talking shit about everyone and everything. don't think doc joins on their bullshit too often, most times it's only if several alliance people are involved. group bullshit, if you will.
have i answered favorite things about doc? i think i have. poke me if i haven't. as for theron, i think what draws katona to him most is the similar chaotic vibe they have and the opportunity to bond over their weird relationship with the jedi order.
as for the disliked qualities, i think doc's vanity can get on her nerves sometimes. another thing that just clashes with her personality is his immense desire to help people even if it puts themselves in danger. sorry imperials on balmorra yall are getting stabbed. nevertheless she saves his ass on dromund kaas instead of moving to attack the emperor right away. that's because she's a little hypocritical. as a treat.
i think the latter is also a point of conflict with theron -- he is, despite his chaotic nature, a very goodhearted character, while she has... interesting morals. if it's not beneficial to her or isn't explicitly a part of her task it's very likely she'll stall doing the objective to help someone, i.e. the reactor on zakuul. there is no time to waste, she's super confused and fresh out of carbonite, and she didn't even cause the damn explosion! not her job. master surro gets killed as a weird way of showing mercy. and so on.
she also never lets him forget the """""betrayal""""" and especially the dumb haircut he got. the spy shenanigans greatly annoy her, and the hair was just ugly.

venting feel free to ignore
okay so like mental health related vent with some semi-related other venting I'll shove it like below the keep reading thing so you don't have to see it
idk what to tag this with for tws and cws or whatever so yeah idk
talking a bit about food related mental health topics so if there's anything you wanna avoid there
also just talking about family members so you know, nothing like too bad, just fair warning for that HJSGDKFSD
so like honestly really struggling with just like food rn
and I don't really know why
I think it's at least partially because my brain often freaks out about like whether food is safe, idk why, I mean I kinda have an idea why but idk, like I don't have ocd but I do have contamination anxiety type stuff sometimes but that's a tangent
like part of it might be because I made a tumblr again, and last time I had tumblr I got pulled into like the ED side and like had an eating disorder so idk if part of it is like old feelings getting like dredged up and making it harder like compounding on that first thing
or maybe it's something physical that's messing with my appetite idk
or a mix of those things idk
a like far lesser part of it with some food might be because texture and me having asd but like that's tangential because it's stuff I can normally eat
point is struggling to eat
especially with anything that looks like it might not be right, which to my brain rn seems to be just about like most food
(haha at least my brain isn't freaking out about drinking water that always sucks, I'd prefer to not eat than not drink afterall SJHDGFJSGD)
also more tangential venting
but so like last week on easter my grandma decided to cook like some store bought vegetable lasagne and like we found a like insect in it - so that might be part of why I'm struggling because like anxiety being validated ig
so I didn't want to eat with everyone else and took my portion upstairs and I did the very normal thing that everyone else would do for sure and definitely isn't weird in the slightest of like looking through before eating it to check it was okay
(so like I'm a vegetarian right but I just wanted to double check it was a vegetable lasangne because sometimes my grandma buys like the non-vegetable lasagne and like while she wouldn't give me meat on purpose she has done it by accident multiple times before haha)
and anyway at the time I show it to my grandma right I bring it downstairs and I'm like "there's an insect in my lasagne" my grandma is like "that's just spinach, this is a reputable firm they wouldn't do something like this" and I'm like "but that's literally an insect" my grandma is like "fine we'll get the magnifying glass" ... "spinach" me: "it literally has antennae and legs" my grandma "I'll have to get <twin sibling> and <older half brother> to look at it" me: "it has antennae and legs" my grandma "oh my god it really is an insect" "<grandma's husband's name> look what <irl body name> in found <pronoun> lasagne"
like I get it I'm a bit like insane about food sometimes but I wish she would actually just fucking listen and believe me
like she also gets so upset when I ask her if something is wrong with food or like don't want to eat it, or double check that it doesn't have meat or is safe and stuff, like it's not about her why does she have to take it personally HKLSGDFKJSGDFK
also then today my mum was a bit oof about weight stuff and things haha, like I wish they weren't controlling about it, like I get I've had anorexia in the past but bro SHDGFKSHD
my mum: I'm going to tell <grandma> that you need to eat more and gain weight me: I'm pretty sure I'm a healthy weight my mum: you're looking bony me, confused: we can measure my weight right now if you're worried me: *measures weight* my mum: you're only 3kg heavier than I am and look how much taller you are me, shocked: *goes to check my bmi, and it is in the middle of the healthy weight section* so that's good kinda that I am healthy bmi ig
I feel like it's kinda fucked up my mum went to say she'd tell my grandma? like knowing that my grandma is both like oof about food and like does worry because obvs I actually did have an ed in the past
also another fucked up part was that part of me was kinda hoping my mum was right, I don't think my brain ever stopped like viewing being underweight as something I kinda wanted on some level even after getting better, like I'm not really functional enough to like move out for like multiple reasons but I've always kinda thought it's probably good I haven't because I probably would start like not eating enough again
okay anyway so also anyway
it turned into a thing tonight because I didn't really eat dinner, and my grandma got upset at me for like not eating dinner (well it was like some kind of a vegetable stew and some bread, I did manage to eat the bread at least)
and also only had a pot noodle for lunch at like 4pm
but anyway my grandma got upset about it
and also didn't eat my dinner last night because my brain said there was something wrong with the rice
and the night before that I kinda only ate half my dinner because m-
and the night before that I kinda-
anyway today tho I did eat like a whole like chocolate easter egg tonight so it's not like a like calories thing or anything, well that was on my mind when thinking about it but ehh it didn't stop me so not the issue
and I was talking to my mum about it later right (for the sake of not repeating just read below) and anyway she said I should repeat what i said to her to my grandma
so anyway I went to speak to my grandma and explained that I was struggling with eating, and that it wasn't like an anorexia thing just that I was struggling with thinking it was like safe to eat and that i didn't exactly know why I was struggling with it but yeah
so I brought up the insect thing or maybe that I was just anxious because I'm seeing a therapist on the 24th (which is the first time I'm seeing a therapist in like idk 5 years) but that I didn't know why exactly I'm struggling with food
and anyway my grandma was like "okay I get it" when I brought up the insect thing
then she went into a whole thing about how I don't have it as bad as she had it because when she was younger her siblings used to tell her things crawled over her food and that she had to stay with someone else because it got so bad for her that she had to be treated for like malnourishment
and like okay sure I don't have her experiences with like that but still like I'm struggling and ??? why is she making it into a competition
anyway so she at least did say she'd help by like trying to make food bland and stuff so I wouldn't have to worry about it which is nice but still HSDGFKSHD
honestly I go between just absolutely hating my grandma and like thinking she's okay, I lowkey wish she'd just see a therapist and work through her shit rather than like -
anyway that's a tangent but haha yeah vent :)

V21 HIGH-SCHOOL GIRLS - October, 1996
Like your skirt short? Nothing wrong with that.
Wanna shape your socks a certain way? Don't see no harm.
For sure, you ain't gonna hear any complaints from me.
So long as you've got a map in hand and know where it is you're headed, you're free to go wherever.
Take care not to get into any accidents, though!
~*~
Right now, high-school girls of a "certain age" are unmistakably controlling current market trends, from CDs to toys right down to food. Some of them even own designer handbags that, until just a while ago, you'd only see adult women with jobs having. And adults working in companies are, predictably, studying them to devise marketing strategies targeted at them. No doubt there are even some who are earning way more than guys working part-time jobs. And they even seem to have it together much better than those who deign to lecture them on so-called age-appropriate behavior.
These girls also have a specific way of talking and you'd hear things like, "Or, yanno, like..." or, "...feels kinda like, yanno..." in the sentences that they string, to which adults would simply shrug at. The difference in speech pattern gives birth to a strong divide between age groups where adults would tend to adopt a condescending attitude towards the younger group. Besides speech, there's also clothing choice and actions that adults may not be able to get. They can analyze it all they want but they won't be able to fully understand it. And the ones who would even bother to attempt are few and far in between. Middle-aged men, especially, may find the task more daunting than trying to get into Tokyo U.
You often hear about escort services on the news which is something society tends to blame on the girls who do it but in my opinion, the men who think it's okay to pay thousands to wine and dine them and in the end sleep with them are the real problem. There can only be supply when there's demand, and it's really not in anybody's place to stop the flow. Still, if a girl I know is doing it, I doubt I can just pretend to not notice. I don't know what I'd end up saying to her, though.
The gap isn't so big yet from when I was in high school myself but the girls are definitely more stylish now. They can get hella creative with their school uniforms. Like, they'd shorten the length of their skirts and play around with the length and size of their socks. Many also color their hair, turning it into something fashionable where before it's more seen as a sign of delinquency. If anything, it seems to give them a softer look compared to kids with jet black hair who seem more severe now. When I become a dad, and if I have a daughter who wants to do all that, I'd give her my full blessings. I'd encourage her, and even buy her whatever accessories--earrings, loose socks, etc-- anything she wants.
I probably feel a certain kinship towards these fashionable girls still in high school. I get the notion that them playing around with their school uniform is their way of expressing their desire for mental freedom from whatever authority they are under. In our world, we have production companies and record companies, but as a performer, I kind of want to assert my own individuality as well. Which I suppose is why I let my hair grow out and got my ears pierced. Way back when, I even used to wear my jeans so long I'd literally be stepping on the cuffs as I walked. The idea is to feel like my own person and from there, decide whether or not what I'm doing is cool, or if I were a girl, cute. This has got nothing to with being rebellious initially but if my efforts get denied, thats when the rebellious spirit kicks in.
And that's why you'll see me rooting for these high school girls and their bid to freely express themselves from the shadows. Don't get me wrong, this isn't me singing them praises or showing them my respect or anything like that. It's just seeing them persevere in doing what they think is right for themselves despite disapproval from authority makes it hard to not want to root for them.
To these girls, I say, "Take it as far as you think you possibly can." And then, I'd also add, "But make sure you've also got a roadmap to navigate with in hand." Turning on the headlights and revving the engine before taking off as fast as you can in a car is well and all but it's also important to know where there are no guard rails, or where there's a dead end or when a U-turn is prohibited.
Adult disapproval may also be kind of like road signs. So I hope you'll all at least try to not miss it if a sign tells you to make a temporary stop. Even if it may merely be the personal opinion of a teacher or a boyfriend or whomever, it's important to at least take their concern under careful consideration, as they only mean well.

Dandelion was in awe - it was rare for her to have someone to talk to with the interest of duckies as much as she did - though she was small she was quite as bright as Ella and that led to certain situations. Funny situations most of the time.
"DO they eat HUMANS???" Dandelion said with a gasp and Ella couldn't help but contain a laugh, oh her daughter could be so silly, she waited for Sofia to explain that no- she wouldn't be eaten by her precious friends.
Ella did notice Sofia's discomfort and took a mental note to tell Dandelion not to sit on her lap - her daughter was very much understanding, and she was sure she wouldn't mind not sitting on someone's lap if they weren't comfortable with it.
"Why thank you." Ella said with a smile. "You are always welcome to come in and try some dresses, I know what it's like to want to fit something without buying it." After all she couldn't afford the dresses she was creating a couple of years ago (not that long ago too - 2019)
"Dandelion, Sofia and I will have to talk a little, so can you play on your own for a little while - you know where mommy is?" Dandelion nodded. "In the big room with the fireplace!" She said proudly.
"Yes, in the big room with the fireplace." Ella agreed. "Please do come with me-" She waited for Sofia to follow her and went to the living room. She allowed Sofia to pick a seat before sitting opposite of her.
"So what do you think of Dandelion?" Ella asked. "And you don't have to sugarcoat it because she is my daughter - you can be honest." She said with a smile.
"I think you could be a nice friend to her - she often goes with James his sisters to the park, but aside from them, she doesn't have any friends I'm afraid." Although dandelion seemed bright there was also a bit of an antisocial streak about her which led to having her difficulties making friends, she also was very much stubborn (which Ella had no idea who she got that from) and that made the friendships last a little too early.
"She has a strong interest in birds, I noticed you were quite known about these, feel free to explore those topics with her, after all I'd like my daughter to converse with topics she cares about." Her daughter didn't have to be silent about her likes and dislikes.
"She is a picky eater, but she likes to try things - so she isn't too difficult with new foods - other than that I don't know what more to add, so if you have any questions please do ask."
