Do you ever think about Pyrrha’s loneliness, when she would wake up surrounded by the empty bodies of her living friends being autopiloted by her dead friends’ souls? And she had to pretend to be dead too. Just standing there idly, reacting to danger only? Waiting for Gideon’s soul to return and to take the control back, not knowing what would happen if she was discovered? Oof
OH WOW this is horrifying (positive)
Running into Mercymorn with her old eyes and she looks like Mercymorn, but actually it's just the empty shell piloted by whatever is left of Cristabel. Playing living statue. Waiting to disappear again.
I think about this especially in the early days, like, before Pyrrha realised what was going on and was able to be more "present" even when G1deon piloted. I think it took her centuries, if not more, to reappear to the surface. What if early on she WAS just a defensive shield who gained awareness bit by bit, and every time she got shut off it was like dying again?

The feeling of going to look up Buddenbrooks on here and the first post you see being about how Christian would be the most likely character to fall for a Crypto scam is so specific. Which is a shame because I screamed and cried and laughed and I want to share this with someone but who the fuck outside this godforsaken place would ever relate?

Buddenbrooks (1901) - Thomas Mann
______
The alarm-clock went off with cruel alacrity. It was a hoarse rattling and clattering that it made, rather than a ringing, for it was old and worn out; but it kept on for a painfully long time, for it had been thoroughly wound up.
Hanno Buddenbrook was startled to his inmost depths. It was like this every morning. His very entrails rebelled, in rage, protest, and despair, at the onslaught of this at once cruel and faithful monitor standing on the bedside table close to his ear.

I’m currently reading Buddenbrooks, and I hate Grünlich so much!
“Tony, if you don’t marry me, I will commit suicide”
Manipulative swine! It can’t end well, but I hope tony will kill him in his sleep if they get married

at this point my brain is just a mix of book/movie/tv show references. like lately one of my arms really hurt for no reason and my brain immediately went "my nerves are too short in my left arm" like christian buddenbrook.

Feeling personally victimized by tumblr user @tony-buddenbrook this evening [x]. Congratulations for unlocking one extra layer of HURT that I hadn’t even considered after rereading that chapter like half a dozen times

12, 24, 42, 51?
12. Your favourite book
Hmm… what even ARE my favourite books? Here's a selection of books that come to my mind just now:
Thomas Mann – Buddenbrooks
Zsuzsa Bánk – Der Schwimmer (The Swimmer)
Miranda July – No one belongs here more than you (I read the german translation, Zehn Wahrheiten)
Elke Heidenreich – Alles kein Zufall (not translated in english, I am afraid)
Patrick Süskind – Das Parfum (Perfume)
Christian Morgenstern – Galgenlieder (Gallows Songs)
24. Something that you’re proud of
That I am going my way and just keep trying and handling all situations as they come. I have started to have some sort of optimism for myself and it feels good. I manage. Never thought I could. But I do 😀
42. Do you like your handwriting?

51. Picture of yourself

True! That makes me wonder, though, how non-English fandom worked before that advent of the internet. The prominent older fandoms I know about are all English-speaking ones (probably I have my knowledge from the interne. But there were magazines about so many niche things, so there probably must have been some kind of special vocabulary? Are there any ... Weimar silent film enthusiasts here to help us out? (Ah, but that's tricky, because it was easy for silent film to circulate on an international market.) Any ... hard-core fans of Buddenbrooks? No?
Sometimes I type terms of endearments I habitually use for my blorbo, like "silly little detective", and then for a terrifying moment I become aware of how absolutely unhinged I sound to myself in my mother tongue (alberner kleiner Detektiv), and then I just go on because apparently, that's my life now.
