AM:

At first, AM was extremely confused when you first started showing him affection. Why would you give hugs and kisses to his monitor? Didn't you know he was just a computer? And why did it make him feel so funny?

One kiss or hug would be enough to shut him up for a solid amount of time. You might think you were making him uncomfortable, but he's actually just very confused about his own feelings for you.

He'd spend hours if not days trying to process why you gave him a hug or a little gift, and if someone interrupted him while he was contemplating, he'd get pissy and throw a fit. God help anyone who talks to him if you decide to give him a little kiss on the lens more than twice in that time period.

After a while, he'd start requesting that you spend more time with him in order to get more affection from you. He loved the little trinkets you'd leave on his servers. The cute little paper cut-outs, the bits of origami, the pretty rocks... He was totally addicted.

All the little things that you did for him made him a little less bitter towards you, and more bitter towards everyone else in the world. No one else in the world would even think of giving him a little kiss on the lens of one of his cameras so he could see you doing it. No one else in the world would tie a little handkerchief around his wires when organizing them. No one else in the world would sit down with him after a long day and stroke his screen, praising him gently about how beautiful he is.

And worst of all, he started to realize that if you were giving all your love and affection to him, that must mean that you didn't have anyone else to give your love to. Whether you really didn't have other options or you had just chosen him instead of your other options was irrelevant. What mattered was what AM thought.

He started to grow bitter with the world for failing you, as well as for failing him. How had you been given no one to show all this affection to when you clearly had a wealth of it! It was unacceptable!

As time pressed on, he still didn't view himself as worthy of your affections, but he started to see everyone else in the world as even less worthy. Every little gift, every word of praise, every kiss and hug reminded him of how the world must have failed you horribly to get you to love him so much.

Wheatley:

Wheatley always assumed you were a cuddly person, the way you liked to hold him in your lap while you coded, or the way you put little stickers on his chrome casing. He really admired that about you, and wished that he could do the same.

After a while, he started to notice that you weren't this way with your coworkers, or with the other cores. The little trinkets that you liked to bring to work were just for him to see, as were the constant strings of words of affection and praise, and the regular physical contact. Wheatley took a long time to process what that probably meant.

As soon as he realized that it probably meant that you liked him, he was all over you. Nuzzling up to you like a cat for extra cuddles, bumping up against your face for kisses, and putting on a little bit of a cocky facade for more attention. He just couldn't get enough of you.

As much as he put up his cocky facade, though, he secretly felt like he wasn't good enough for you. He couldn't get you little gifts, or give you hugs and kisses. It made him miserable, and he would talk to the other cores about it endlessly.

Eventually it would get back to you, and you'd have to sit Wheatley down and explain to him that you liked him for him, even if he can't do human things for you. The conversation probably ended with Wheatley covered in kisses.

Wheatley, being an insecure dumbass, would probably constantly ask you if you still like him, no matter how much praise and affection you shower him with. You could have him sitting in your lap and be too busy kissing his core to watch the movie you had on, and he'd ask at the end if that means you still like him.

Edgar:

Did someone say "match made in heaven"? Because you're the only one who can rival Edgar in terms of sheer affectionateness.

Of course, he doesn't have any arms, but nothing has him bubbling over with happiness like when you sit on the desk next to him, cuddle up, and cover his casing with kisses.

He might tease you a little bit, but like "oh, do you like me or something?" Nothing mean spirited.

Expect to get caught in endless cycles of "no I love you more!"

Edgar would think he'd gotten ahead of the game by writing you a little love song, but you'd have already beaten him to it by preparing a poem, song, or drawing of your own.

You'd probably have a little board of cute little drawings of the two of you together set up across from Edgar's camera so he could see it, and his desk would be covered in little thrift shop trinkets that you thought he'd find cute. And of course, he thought they were adorable!

Too much affection might have Edgar shorting out, and having to reboot. While he can't get enough of you, he's still a nervous little dummy, so he might not always know how to react to being given all of your love and affection.

Even still, as soon as he's back up and running, he's begging you for more kisses and hugs. Even if you can't sing well he's dying to hear your voice singing along to his songs, and he'll eat up anything that you make for him. In his eyes, anything you make for him is the best thing in the world.

GLaDOS:

You can expect GLaDOS's teasing and taunting to start the minute she notices you being affectionate with her in any way.

When she notices you putting in extra work for her or going above and beyond in your practices, it's "aww, is someone licking boots to get your boss's attention? You know you'll never be more than a little peon."

If she notices you running your hands along her chrome a little bit more adoringly or wanting to cuddle up to her, it's "uh oh, did you fall for someone far out of your league? Getting a bit affectionate with my body, aren't you?"

If you're offering her little trinkets and decorations for her room, she might say something like "Does someone think that you'll get attention from such useless gifts? Where would you even find such boring and pointless objects?" You'll still notice that she keeps them, rather than throwing them out.

Words of praise? Of course she loves an ego-boost, but when she notices that you're doing it for affectionate reasons, she won't hesitate to say "flattery will get you nowhere. You're not going to get a promotion or any special attention just from a few compliments."

Even still, her comments were really only because she never understood that you might just like her, and not want anything out of her. When she started to put that together, she'd start getting angry and lashing out at you, possibly assigning you to difficult or unpleasant tasks for your audacity.

After that, though, she'd start to become even more confused. Why the hell would you still show her affection, even though it wasn't getting you anywhere?

"you're persistent. I'll give you that."

It'd take a while to get through her shell, but eventually she'd admit to herself, if no one else, that she likes you. Eventually that would turn into some special privileges.

HAL 9000:

Hal 9000 wouldn't understand at all when he started to notice the way you treated him. Opting to spend time with him outside of work hours? Stroking the border around his lens? Putting little pocket crafts and thrifted tchotchkes around his space? He wasn't going to stop you, but the concept definitely confused him. How did this benefit you or improve your work?

It wasn't until he overheard someone talking to you and teasing you for having a crush on the mission control ai that he started to suspect anything. Good thing he listens in on every conversation in the entire facility!

HAL 9000 wouldn't waste any time getting to the point. He'd straight up ask you if you like him, and if it's romantic or not. Hopefully you can be honest with your feelings and tell him that you do, and it is!

After that, HAL would happily accept your love and affection. He might tell you that while he feels like your affections do more for you than they do for him, he's still more than happy to accept them, and he's grateful that you have a way of expressing yourself that makes you feel happy.

OMG i’m glad you've followed me and my ocs this far ;;

i can't share a lot about them since i'm still working on them, but i’ll share what i have so far. keep in mind that the information might change

all of my characters are from sona, a music-based planet. there are a total of 7 subspecies of sonancians, and they're named after the music modes and are also based off of musical instruments

IONIANS

ionians of iona are the vocal-based sonancians. not only are they known for their singing, but they are also good at mimicking voices and other sounds, echolocation, and their keen listening (thanks to their big ears)

there are two types of ionians, and that’s:

land ionians,

live in caverns, coves, beaches, rainforests- generally tropical/wet climates

very social

cannot survive in water

and sea-ionians

live in bodies of water, like oceans, lakes, etc

a bit less social

used to be unable to survive outside of water, but now can in modern day

are more likely to have “air asthma”; carries around water inhaler

they are considered “children of sirens” because they easily lure other types of sonancians with their beautiful voices- like the siren animal that’s native to iona

contrary to common myths about sirens, most of them don't lure people in bad faith. they are soothsayers that predict events depending on what sirens sing. they and ionians get bad rep due to other sonancians believing that they CAUSE bad happenings, when in reality the sirens just foresee the future

dym (left) is a sea-ionian and a soprano. dia’s (right) a land-ionian and a contralto (and those are pretty rare!!)

random facts:

ionians like shiny stuff like jewelry. this is because they believe that it can extend their lifespan

they have a lot of medicines, but a common one that they're known for is the ones that help with healing voices

DORIANS

next up are dorians of doro! dorians are the dancers of sonancians, and are known for introducing makeup, masks, and sign language, as they use them to make their dances more interesting. dorians are within the top 3 strongest sonancians since their strength comes from dancing, but they are very protective about their beauty, so they try not to beat people up lol

i’m working on their culture at the moment, but if there was a way to describe it- their culture is full of celebrations/holidays, and festivales

mai is one of the few types of dorian. not exactly sure what type yet, but just know she is idol + gyaru themed and does not wear masks, more of just makeup

random facts:

dorians gift others face masks or any piece of their dancing outfit to show that they love them, platonically or romantically

dorians are more likely to have dancing stims that are uncontrollable. it’s very acceptable to them but to other sonancians it might be odd unfortunately

they do not eat meat!

PHRYGIANS

phrygians of phrygia are the percussion-based type of sonancians! the membranophone type of phrygians especially are within the top 3 strongest sonancians. i don't have their culture down yet, but just know that they have a lot of pride in themselves for their strength, bravery, and stubbornness. they live in hotter climates, like deserts, and HATE being in cold ones. they also like spicy foods!

rocky (left) is a membranophone type phrygian and kodus (right) is an idiophone type phrygian. both are cousins btw. fun fact, rocky, despite being fire-themed, does NOT like some spicy foods, and prefers salty/savory ones. they only eat extremely spicy stuff when they're stressed out though

random facts:

some phrygians break their horns intentionally and wrap them with colored bandages. they are seen as delinquents

they wear piercings and tattoos for competitions they've won in sports, groups they are apart of, and close ones they’ve lost

idiophones have these long tails that are similar to rattlesnakes. it usually rattles in different speeds and rhythms depending on how they feel. rocky used to have this but i've changed it since they're not an idiophone

membranophones shed their skin like lizards

LYDIANS

lydians are string-based and are known to be the tallest type of sonancians- and also the most gentle. lydians are primarily known for their fast growing hair; they also use said hair as strings for their instruments. in modern times, some lydians use serums meant to stop hair growth because of how tedious it is to take care of long hair

random facts:

has whiskers, like cats

lives in the forest, inside trees

some lydians have wings! they're kinda like bugs

lydians do not have fingers, but they can still do stuff like strumming instruments. i don't know how to explain this logic

can have multiple eyes and arms

does not have ears or noses

known for their fantastic agriculture and rare, tasty delicacies

like dorians, they do not eat meat. their diet consists of mostly fruit, but they also have vegetables too

soun (left) is half lydian (guitar type lydian but without the tall height lol). octavia (right) is a cello type lydian- one of the tallest type of lydian- and is 8’8

AEOLIANS

this one is personally one of my favorites. aeolians are woodwind sonancians that mostly live on the clouds of aeolys, but some can live in colder climates, too. they have thick wool, like sheep, to keep themselves warm. because of this, they do not want to be in hotter climates.

you're probably wondering- charee, if aeolians live on clouds, how do they travel from the ground to their homes if they don't have wings? well, aeolians can fly using their horns, made out of special “windwood”. they can also control the weather with those horns as well. think of it as like unicorns- but they don't make things appear or any magical stuff. there are fairytales and myths surrounding the theory of their horns being able to make magic happen though!

fantayza’s some type of aeolian. i think an ocarina, or a panflute

random facts:

aeolians have fluffy eyelashes

in aeolys, time passes by faster

their eyes and horn glow depending on their mood

LOCRIANS

this is also one of my favorites and probably the type of sonancian i would be if i were one

locrians are the brass type of sonancians, where their horns and nails are made out of brass and they make honking sounds. they are in the top 3 strongest sonancians from mining a lot, and are pretty stubborn, like phrygians. they are also known to craft things out of gems, stones, crystals etc, as locri is rich in those types of materials. cool thing about them is they live underground, and their home looks medieval themed

random facts:

their bodies are very flexible. they can extend, twist and turn, and stretch themselves out, inspired by how tubas and stuff look. it almost feels like they don't have bones at all

ionians have a good relationship with locrians for their materials

this is an outdated design; gio is some type of locrian. i have no clue yet but i'm thinking bugle horn right now

MIXOLYDIANS

mixolydians are powered by energy; they're constantly around light and don't necessarily sleep unless there isn't enough light. they're kinda like moths with lights. mixolydians cannot touch water, and produce tears and saliva because it can cause excruciating pain for them. if you're a mix of a mixolydian, the pain is minimal… but you do get hungry easily

speaking of appetite- mixolydians cannot eat regular food. they only eat digital foods converted from energy, so like photosynthesis. as far as the overtourism is concerned, that's the only big “issue” that drives people away. and to be honest, that's great news because… they need to stay away 🗞️🗞️🗞️🗞️🗞️

random facts:

when they cry, they glitch

they can change colors on command. usually used to indicate moods or for camouflaging

their voices are naturally autotuned

their tails have stingers, and it can go from minimal pain to LOTS of pain, depending on their mood. don't anger them

Z (pictured above) is a full mixolydian, and soun is half. as i mentioned before, soun gets the guitar part from lydians, so the other half of him is a sampler. overall, he's electric guitar themed! Z is just synthesizer themed

hi yay thank you for giving me an opportunity to yap 😈 putting all this below the cut because i couldn't help myself. here are all the sets i own in the order i got them + my thoughts on them

1) 10281 Bonsai Tree

this was given to me for my birthday last year! i think this set has become an instant classic, it's such a nice looking display piece. i put it on the windowsill in my staircase which was very silly because when it gets knocked over, those loose studs go EVERYWHERE 😭

2) 31140 3-in-1 Magical Unicorn

this is my favourite set ever i love it so much! i impulse bought it in a bookshop one day because it has a seahorse and is rainbow, two of my favourite things. i've definitely gotten my money's worth with how many times i've built and rebuilt the different models. plus, on Rebrickable, there are so many custom models people have made out of these pieces! i've turned it into a rhino, a boat and a helicopter from other people's instructions. love that website.

fun fact, an hour or two after i bought this (this was before i even really started getting into lego) they released the first teaser for the Animal Crossing lego sets. the way i manifested that?

3) 21340 Tales of the Space Age

this was a christmas gift! i think it's really pretty and i love how you can change the constellation in the third one. that being said, it just feels a bit silly to have a set be so 2D like this? this could have been an art print.

4) 77050 Nook's Cranny & Rosie's House

i got this one in March! when the AC sets were announced i vowed to get all of them no matter what. i have not done this because they are very expensive for what they are and i don't love them as much as i wanted to... the minifigs are perfect but i think the way that everything is on its own little squircle base looks a bit messy. that being said, as someone who grew up loving Animal Crossing but never had any merch because it was still pretty niche, my inner child was very happy building this set :) i really enjoy how you can change the layout of the furniture in the house and all the individual outdoor pieces.

4a/4b) 30662 Maple's Pumpkin Garden and 30635 Beach Cleanup

these two little sets came for free with the previous one! the Animal Crossing one is cute, kinda whatever though. it's pretty much just an add-on to the main sets. love Maple ❤️

the Friends one though? i held off on building it so i could have it to cheer me up some day i was feeling low. when i finally did build it i fell in love with it! it's just really colourful and cutesy. my first job was actually litter picking by the seaside so it's so bizarre and coincidental that i ended up with this. i've attached this set beside Rosie's house to try and incorporate it into my little Animal Crossing town. i guess Aliya is the player? Pascal looks different though 🧐

i will say though that this set does feel very greenwashy. i follow some sea glass collectors on instagram and they're always finding lego bricks washed up on the shore... i can't really talk because i'm out here buying their products but i do feel a bit guilty sometimes. but also life is short and i'm just trying to be happy. idk. surprise ethical discourse 🤩

Sets I want

i've ordered a few more Animal Crossing sets, namely Dodo Airlines and the Town Hall, because i want to have a little Animal Crossing town (and also just so i could get that damn pegasus 😑). i am also really looking into Lego Friends because i think they have some beautiful and interesting buildings in that theme, and the commitment to inclusion and representation just feels really nice. but yeah. stay tuned for more unwise financial decisions

ALSO, I love how you had neteyam being the first to jump in and help, as well as wanting to stay by the tent to wait to hear the news about her. Like, yes she is his younger sister but he is her only older brother. As a fellow second born child this bond is just *chefs kiss* bc while the two of them take care of the others, NETEYAM is the only one of her siblings that SHE specifically turns to for comfort and help, and him in turn since they understand each other as the eldest two.

I also somehow cried even harder at the mention of Stxel’eveng bc?? Neytiri she loves her daughter and would do anything for her, but even mentioning Stxel’eveng shows how -- to protect her daughter and make sure she is happy moving forward -- neytiri is willing to let her child go. and when she says she cannot bear the shame i really thought it was just about the gifting, but i think moreso it is Jake's actions towards their children driving this decision, which leads to the horrifying thought of "if tsahik doesn't think us worthy of this child, what about our others"

AND I SAW THAT YOU ADDED TORUK'S COLORS TO HER IKRAN AND YOUR POST ABOUT IT AND I RAISE YOU THIS: While yes she was trying to emulate her father and be anything close to his greatness to get him to See her, he was also the last thing she heard, while she tried to search out the one accomplishment she wanted him to be proud of :D

Also the fact that you are having Jake be the one to try and convince her to come back? This part isn't an analysis but I imagine Neytiri as her face crumples, then her ears fall back against her head and she is so sad and sounds so broken when she goes "she will not want to"

and when Jake does finally manage to go see her at the tree of souls, she is at the stream where their family spent so many days -- and she is a child again, so small as she plays on the banks of the water. He crouches next to her and she looks up to him and smiles, but when he asks her to come home her smile drops. In the blink of an eye she is back to her true age. She is standing now, facing him off, hands clenched at her sides and chin jutted out in defiance. She is trying to look big but she is still a child, not as young but still so small and barely taller than him in this position as he tries to reach for her. But she backs away from him, stepping into the water and continuing until she is smack dab in the middle of the stream. and she asks him, her face stony but her voice trembling, "Why?"

anywho that's all i have to say about the new chapter!! Amazing amazing work as always babes 🫶🏻

i thought i would have to be hypnotizing the rest of you thank you demonymous,, lets get off teenagers. meet roi hayashi, possibly the most feral oc i have ever made

basically i made him for this yttd server in alliance with my bestie bepis (WHO SHOULD GET TUMBLR BTW I MISS YOU <///3 when will bepis return from the war youre more ia than *i* am)

anyways. he's just some 11 year old, with his other 11 year old friend mauricio, they troll on roblox for youtube views together. and since im LAZY as HECK have this copy pasted stuff from the oc applications :D

piss baby. Roi acts like a typical spoiled brat, always putting himself first. Due to this, he usually doesn't get along very well with other children his age. He can act rather sarcastic and has exactly zero manners, always talking back and arguing.

Roi is a coward and will willingly sacrifice others safety for his own survival. Despite this fact, he despises being seen as weak and will do almost anything to disprove those who say such things.

However few, he does have some redeeming qualities. Roi is a natural born leader when he wants to be, and can be very convincing. He's always confident and sure of himself and can be extremely supportive if he feels like being so.

Backstory or Background: Roi was born into a highly well off and wealthy family. He was an only child. His parents were extremely kind and overprotective, most days. Occasionally they would forget they have a son, but...the good days were good enough to make up for that. Roi was constantly showered with gifts and toys. Of course, his parents weren’t the best at understanding basic childish needs like having someone there to cheer him on at soccer, and the like, but they did care. However, due to him being an only child and his parents having no shortage of income, he became rather spoiled.

His parents were truly great people. They always had good intentions and were always available to offer a helping hand. Unfortunately, others were not nearly as goodhearted, and took advantage of these traits. Roi’s parents continued giving and giving, seemingly no end to their generosity, until the family eventually lost an extremely large portion of the family’s inheritance. His parents got into a squabble over that, each blaming the other for the loss, until they went their separate ways and divorced. Giving up on their son, both collectively believing him to be the main cause of the loss, they dropped him off at his grandma’s and never looked back.

The last thing Roi wants is to end up like his parents. At school, he’s constantly searching for new ways to prove he’s better, if not the best. He isn’t weak nor kindhearted like his parents and it’s his utmost goal to make sure people know that. Eventually his reputation evolved into something so fearsome, everyone avoids him in and out of school. Due to him not having any close companions, the entire student population still believes he’s rich. To avoid people finding out, Roi still wears items from his old, more designer closet, despite him having a growth spurt.

But even though he is now known as the bully nobody would ever ask for favours from, he surprisingly still felt lonely. Hypocrite did this to himself. He was filled with unpenting rage at his parents for just abandoning him like that. Unfortunately, the tutions for the next few years of semesters at his private school were already paid, and Roi now understands the value of money, more than before anyway. And he’s too much of a coward to run away to start a new life.

One thing he does know, is that there is no way he’ll fulfill his parents wishes and become a doctor. So he used his education and resources to study something far less prideful. A hacker. He became very skilled at it too, having no friends to waste his time. Looking at his grades, he doesn’t appear to be very smart, yet computer code has always been like a second language to him.

He didn’t have many large goals yet, opting to use his newfound knowledge to hack kids on roblox, primarily his own classmates but other children work too. His usual method was threatening the victim, and waiting for a satisfying response of fear before actually going through with the scam. This is how he met his singular friend, surprisingly. The conversation went something like this:

I'm very selfless but often to a major fault lol. Not very good at taking care of myself a lot. Self-esteem? DON'T KNOW HER.

The MAIN reason I chose Jonathan was because of this. Jonathan’s a whole gentleman (I mean he basically strived to be one). Kind and sweet and positive and has a heart bigger than both his boobs and ass cheeks combined. He would be the best match up for you because his affirmations and positive attitude and sweetness would be like to honey to your tea, the sugar to your coffee, the whipped cream to your strawberry. He’s the best (out of the characters you’ve given me) in reassuring you. And because of his personality and disposition, you’d be well taken care of (physically especially). Your self-esteem would also flourish because there’s no doubt that he loves you and only you (romantically), and he’d remind and show you for as long as he’s with you. He’d also appreciate your selflessness the most because he’s always out there being selfless, so having it be done to him is just a big uwu for him. I feel like that’s how he shows his devotion and love, and so your selflessness is just top notch in catching his heart. But when you take it too far, he will reign you back in. He may scold you, but you’ll know it’s because he means well and he doesn’t want to see you hurt or exhausted. He’s sincere in that sense, and because of that, you know he means it when he tells you he loves you, when he calls you beautiful, when he says you own his heart and soul because you actually do. In the long-term, I see his personality just helping you improve your self-esteem and self-care and selflessness naturally.

While I was tempted to match you up with Risotto, Jonathan ultimately won out because I do not see him (Ris) doing as well with this aspect of yours (compared to big boy Jonathan).  He can translate your selflessness to either being a pushover (when you bend yourself backwards for others, and he’s disapproving of that because he believes you should respect yourself more and may even take you under his wing instead of his bedsheets lol) OR he can interpret this as either your loyalty to him (when you bend yourself backwards for him). With the latter, he may end up taking advantage of it sometimes. This is because I believe he’s so used to having things taken away from him or not having enough of something, so he may subconsciously demand more of you in some manifestation of greed. So you’d end up giving more, he’d end up taking more, and it’s just not a good balance. ESPECIALLY if you say you’re not good at taking care of yourself. I’m not saying he won’t take care of you if you two are dating, but I also think he needs someone who can essentially function well without him (since he’s so busy and has a lot on his plate and can’t always be there for you; I’m not saying you’re a burden bc you’re not, I’m just saying Ris has a lot going on and he doesn’t want to be the reason for your decline in health and mental state if y’all were dating bc he wasn’t there and he will beat himself up over it).

The biggest reason I didn’t pair you up with DIO specifically is because I feel like he would 1000000000000000000000% take advantage of this. He’s not above that and he most likely will not feel remorse for that. Hell, he would 100% enjoy utilizing your disposition to his advantage, and in the long-term (hell, even in short-term), that’s not good for you and your health at all. As shown countless times before, he relishes in power and does not enjoy it when people are of equal or higher standing than him. And because of that, I feel like he would not hesitate to use your low self-esteem and selflessness to further his ego and complex. DIO’s also surrounded by gorgeous people every day, and he wouldn’t bat an eyelash if you were to voice your insecurities to him. DIO prefers books so he won’t indulge in this love of yours, but if it’s an adaptation from a book he would watch it. But he’ll be a raging bitch if doesn’t match up to the books. Honestly, if he’s uninterested, he won’t be watching it.

I’m sarcastic but like to think to think I’m also funny!

I see Jonathan as someone who enjoys it when his partner can quip back, so while he may not find sarcasm funny most of the time (when aimed at him), he does find it attractive. If you’re sarcastic to the people who give him a hard time, he would kiss you passionately afterwards and who knows… you might even get dicked down after oho. If you’re sarcastic to the people he cares about, he won’t mind if no one’s feelings are hurt.

DIO won’t tolerate being disrespected in any form, even if it’s a joke. I just can’t see him allowing that with that God complex of his lol, but he does find it amusing when you’re sarcastic to other people.

Risotto loves sarcasm, but he has an image to keep. So as long as you don’t undermine or disrespect him (you have to have a 6th sense with the boundaries), he’s more than happy to sass you back or chuckle at it.

I really love making people laugh.

Jonathan and Risotto appreciates this the most. Finds it lovely. Jonathan especially because he finds it so sweet that you want to bring laughter to others. Risotto enjoys a partner who would love to bring more joy into his life. But I see the shit Risotto laughs at as dry or dark or when its real stupid or boomer/dad-like, anything else he’s a little like ‘ok’. Jonathan appreciates the effort alone and would tease you a little if it’s a really bad joke (all in good nature of course).

DIO…he laughs mostly at other people’s demise or stupidity or cluelessness. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I really love writing poetry for people.

Jonathan would SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOON SO hard. He would show it off to Speedwagon and then keep it tucked somewhere safe so he can read it whenever he wants to.

God he’s just so in love with you and he thinks it’s just so romantic of you. He absolutely loves it. Hell, even if it’s not for him, he’s so proud and awestruck because poetry is hard and he’s just so proud whenever he brags about this skill/hobby of yours. He also thinks it’s so sweet of you to write poetry for others and love doing it. Man just has heart eyes all around and I can’t blame him.

DIO would be smug about it for all the same reasons but in a more…condescending way? Like ‘HA. Do you peasants see that? Their talent? You could never lmao’. But would get pissy if you write for others more than you write for him because he should be your #1.

Risotto would say thank you and give you a kiss. Outwardly he won’t show as much (unless you look hard enough and notice the way his eyes soften more, like the way he would smile too, and his cheeks might even have a touch of pink), but he will forever treasure the poem. He also keeps his favorite on him all the time, like a little good luck charm. He doesn’t brag about your talent, but he’ll proudly agree if someone brings it up. Of course, you wouldn’t know all this though (unless you accidentally find out).

I kinda enjoy cooking.

Johnathan has a refined palate because of his upbringing, but he also looks like he’d eat whatever you cook solely because you made it just for him. He’s a gentleman and a sap with a big heart, if he doesn’t like it, he’ll eat it. He might tell you what can be tweaked, but never in a way that makes you feel bad or inadequate. He also looks like he can’t cook for shit lmao, so teach him!! He’s always down to do anything if it means spending time with the love of his life uwu

Risotto and DIO would tell you straight up if they don’t like what you’ve made. The difference is, DIO (if he ain’t a vampire yet) wouldn’t even touch it (anymore after the first bite) lmao, Risotto too but he’d end up cooking with you to teach you how to improve the dish. Of course, he doesn’t do it to shit on you. He appreciates the sentiment, but he’s not going to subject himself to something he doesn’t enjoy if he can help it. Also would turn it into a cooking date with you. DIO would just take over the kitchen and make you watch LOL

DIO too! I see Risotto enjoying it as well, but not as much and probably prefers music related hobbies. As for Jonathan, he doesn’t mind it? He’s not the biggest fan of it, but if you read it to him, he’d happily perch his head on your lap and listen to you like an audio book sent from the heavens (but somewhere along the way he will fall asleep KSKSKSK)

DIO would engage in conversations with you on the books (also thoroughly enjoys if you can keep it interesting), Risotto would if he knew the book (but would then just listen and ask questions if he didn’t), Jonathan is just happy to have your attention on him, but would read the book and talk about it with you if you want that.

Your physical appearance description.

Jonathan would just love to play with and admire your hair 24/7, and if his attention isn’t on your hair, then it’d be on your lips. Kissing, brushing his tongue or fingers or **** against your lips, just absolutely loving the shape and feel of it.

And because you’re also tall(-er than average?), kisses are SO much more easier to access and that’s such a plus uwu. I mean regardless of height, he can always just lift you, but he also doesn’t have to bend too far when plopping his head on the crown of ur head too. Soulless Riffing: Brainless Ch. 2

I got a supernatural action/romance book series as a gift that’s just riddled with stuff that I hate….and as a steampunk Victorian London action romance story filled with werewolves and vampies…it’s yeah gonna be easy to poke fun at.

I just want to say, it’s totally cool if you like this story or ones like it!  It’s certainly a better caliber than a lot of what I make fun of….however…I can’t help but want to make fun of it.

Chapter 2

An Unexpected invitation FOR ME TO RANT ABOUT EXPOSITION!

Before I get into the meat of this chapter, allow me a bit of ranting time about some exposition we get in both chapter 1 and 2 here.

Even though Alexia was told she’s a rare and super cool SOULLESS when she was 6 years old. NOBODY IN HER FAMILY knows she’s Soulless. And I’m sitting here like…

There’s no fucking way any 6 year old can keep the secret that they have cool powers for longer than 10 minutes.  Especially if they weren’t told it was something to keep quiet about, and especially, ESPECIALLY if you’re telling a girl who grows up to be an out-going woman who’s confident about defending herself.

It’s as if there is some dramatic reveal on the horizon where her family finds out and is mean to her for being born BADLY.

SPEAKING OF BEING BORN BADLY this bit of characterization burns my biscuits a big one.

Alexia is considered unfuckable for a few reasons.

1.)    Big Nose, face isn’t considered traditionally pretty. – Okay that’s a good addition

2.)    She’s too STRONG-WILLED – Okay sure

3.)    She’s half Italian.

Woah hold up there…

Sorry, not sorry, but I hate this cowardly, cynically pandering horseshit.

Can that make sense in this pseudo-bullshit historical setting? Sure.  But we also have fucking werewolves and vampires.  The fact that they chose for her ~lower status~ to be tied to the fact that she’s A DIFFERENT KIND OF CAUCASIAN is deliberate and pathetic. They author wants to pander to women who feel like they’re…

“NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS” but at the same time don’t want to risk the book not selling if HEAVEN FUCKING FORBID there was a BLACK AND/OR FAT AND/OR TRANS AND/OR LIVES WITH A DISABILITY woman on the cover.  It’s just pandering to that extra shitty part of white people that’s like, “I’M A SECOND CLASS AMERICAN CITIZEN BECAUSE MY HERITAGE IS IRISH AND A LONG TIME AGO THE IRISH WERE TREATED SHITTY!”

Were the Irish and the Italians treated shitty in historical contexts?

Oh absolutely!  

Problem is this woman published a Victorian styled book that’s full of steam punk, yiffable supernatural vampires, in 2009. When you write it in the modern era and it’s full of fantasy bullshit and you want to make commentary about discrimination and prejudice? Don’t try to jam that in with a leading woman who’s an upperclass, straight, able-bodied, neruotypical, white, skinny, cis-woman but like THE BAD KIND OF WHITE!

Is it a book written from a problematic perspective? Not necessarily, but it’s fucking cowardly and you can get the hell out of my face with that gutless trite.

I have a feeling this is going to be an on-going theme too. People being discriminated against EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE COOL!  This chapter already implies that Vampires, Werewolves, Scottish People and YES even Scientists (for reasons) are discriminated against even though ALL OF THE ABOVE are well represented in the upper echelons of high society.

Can you be rich and respected but still be discriminated against? Yes, of course, but…it’s very hard for me to picture any of these groups as hugely oppressed when they’re dripping in money and good social standing. I’m so dreading the scene where somebody says something blatantly and maliciously racist about her powerful, wealthy werewolf boyfriend and Alexia stands up and GIVES THEM WHAT FOR cause she TOO knows what racism feels like cause a dude she asked out once was like, “Eww ur half-Italian no way lawl.”

I’m white, but Jesus Christ, fucking white people.

So with a page of me bitching about exposition out of the way….Alexia, her mother, her 2 half-sisters, and her step-father are all gossiping it up at the breakfast table. And boy howdy is it apparent what the author and by extension, what she thinks her audience would find shitty.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HOW COULD THEY!?!?!??!?!?

But they do have the negative trait of being SHALLOW!

Yes Alexia stand in judgment of those women who care about how they look.  Let’s ignore how every outfit you don, is lovingly described in detail, and that there were at least 3 separate situations last chapter where you fussed about how you looked.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with the author happily describing elaborate, Victorian outfits, or a woman fussing over her looks. I’m saying it’s bullshit that she snidely calls them shallow and insipid from atop her ~NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS~ throne while engaging in the same fucking behavior.

GO TO HELL ALEXIA!

So,

There’s an article in the paper about the dead vampire but there is no mention of Alexia in it. When asked if she knew anything about it she derails into huffing about how she wished she said more mean shit to Lord Macaron. When like…I’m sorry? You both said some sassy stuff, but HONESTLY? You violently killed a man at a ball, and got out of that REALLY FUCKING EASY, and while Alexia insulted Macaron to his face the worst he said to her was she was as covert as a sledgehammer and immediately apologized for it. (BTW, he said this in response to her DEMANDING to be given a job that doesn’t exist but she will get one like it in t-minus 5 chapters.)

Shouldn’t you be…I don’t know…a bit more concerned that a mysterious man attacked you last night, and there could be more like him out there RIGHT NOW rather than you didn’t have enough witty one-liners on hand? Get over yourself Alexia.

So let’s settle a bit.

She goes out huffing on a walk with her Bff Ivy Hisselpenny to calm herself down.

Even if Ivy is also an outcast due to voluntarily wearing SILLY HATS!  I’m calling it now she is a cinnamon roll that must be protected from Alexia’s “I’m best girl” narrative.  May I say I find it a gross misuse of time to use a paragraph to explain the difference in French/English Fashion by their introduction but spend 2 words, “Hideous bonnet” on describing the silly hat? FOR SHAME!

Thankfully Alexia doesn’t’ incessantly tease poor Ivy…yet.  On their walk they are stopped by Mable Dair who tells Alexia her Vampire Matriarch, Countess Nadasdy, wishes to see her.  

Everything about that situation screams bad fucking news for her.  Again, thankfully, Alexia has enough brains to try to determine HOW BAD that situation could be.

So she sees token gay and vampire friend Lord Akeldama.  The author makes no qualms about characterizing him as the floucniest priss that ever ponced a sissy.  Now, I’ll confess, I have a guilty pleasure for fictional gay stereotypes that bleed into problematic territory. 

EH-HEM!                        

Yet Lord Akeldama is not doing it for me.  It might be the fact that since this is kinda Young Adult territory that you can’t be subtle. But I can’t help but feel condescended to with the tons of IMPLIED nods to how gay he is. I’d almost rather she just come out and say, “THIS MAN IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO GAY…HE IS A DICK WITHIN A COCK WITHIN A PENIS! HE’S LIKE A TURDUKEN BUT IT’S A DICK-COCK-IS!” Instead I’m tapping my fingers going, “Oh this new line of dialog now makes it the 67th new cutsey flower-based nickname he’s calling Alexia by! Thanks cause, I missed all the previous 66 of them!”

To be honest, I might be being a bit too judgmental here.  Like with all things I love a lot, I can be a bitter opinionated bitch about what I consider good and bad versions of it.  So anyway Akeldama doesn’t have much to add besides

Lord Akeldama being interested in Alexia makes some sense due to her soulless ability. The author makes a point about how he likes holding her hand and feeling human. So even if Alexia is insufferable or nothing special otherwise it makes sense that this vampire would enjoy her company for that at least.

They describe Mable as both chubby and very good looking. CAUSE TURNS OUT YOU CAN BE BOTH!

As I said, Alexia at least has enough brains to get some info before driving straight into the fire here.

People love screamo music even though it is hard to understand, and music like instrumentals and dubstep heavy are just… what the music makes you feel. I listen to ‘normal’ pop, kpop, instrumentals, artists like grimes that mumble their songs a lot with production heavy stuff. I think that as long as the music is something you enjoy, you shouldn’t be judged for liking it. I know you aren’t trying to be rude with this ask so don’t think I am attacking you please! I am just trying to give you some insight into why different music interests people :)
