So...considering season 1 and season 3 both had a sacrifice happen during their finale episode(although 1 was permanent and 3 was temporary).

I think it's safe to say that season 2 will follow the same route, my best guess is that it's either gonna be MePhone or Taco(or hell maybe even 3gs).

I am massively busy with work and finalizing my Big Bang, but this idea just won't leave...

Steve and Eddie are both actors. They're in their mid thirties, well established, but they never starred together in anything. Steve tends to be cast in the same type, the dumb but pretty love interest, Eddie has lots of indie and disturbing movies under his belt. But this time, they both landed something big.

They get cast in the new Batman movie.

Steve is, of course, Batman. He insists on doing his own stunts. He refuses to get dehydrated for his shirtless scenes because he knows how damaging it is to both young men and women alike, he's not going to contribute to shitty expectations. The director (Dustin, duh!) sees something in him other directors never have - a potential for depth, for internal turmoil. He gives Steve the chance to prove himself as an actor and Steve pounces on it.

He's still very hot.

Eddie is cast as the Joker. He is a fan of the comics and scoffs at how absurd and deranged the character is becoming. He gets hired because he immediately says he doesn't think the character needs to rely on cheap tricks and shock value to be terrifying. Cutting off his face? Not cool. He suggests to play the Joker according to one of the older comics he has - one where the Joker is actually absolutely sane, but hides it to never be held accountable for his actions. The only person who ever saw through his ruse was Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Joker took care of that issue very quickly.

The chemistry between Steve and Eddie on screen is insane. They go toe to toe, it's impossible to look away when they interact. Eddie utilizes his bright smile to the maximum, tweaking it just right within moments so it becomes unsettling. The first time he laughs, Steve gets goosebumps.

Steve encompasses Bruce's loneliness so well Eddie's heart breaks for him. Dustin finds him in the trailer, giving himself gentle slaps over the face and muttering "you're evil, damn it, you don't want to comfort the Bat!!".

Batgirl (Robin) and Harley Quinn (Chrissy) find their slow descent into love hilarious. They all become good friends on the set.

Hopper, an acting veteran who plays Commissioner Gordon, grasps Steve's shoulder after an intense fight scene and mutters: "Good job, Steve, but maybe don't stare at his lips so much?"

Robin doesn't give him the same courtesy and once Dustin yells "Cut!", she screeches: "NOW KISS!"

The movie is a hit. People love the cast and the story, some of the OG fans complain as they always do, but the ratings are great, there are many interviews, panels, all of that.

And of course, there's gossip about Steve and Eddie being a thing, which enrages the macho Batman fanbase. Their Batman isn't gay!

But the rumors quickly disappear after an award ceremony where Eddie is nominated for the best supporting actor. He wins, of course. And as he gets up to accept the small statue and deliver a speech with enough "fuck"s to give the censor a headache, he drags Steve up and kisses him in front of the whole world.

A week later, Steve and Eddie are together in front of a camera again, answering questions in an interview.

The host asks: "What do you say to those fans that are disappointed, who say that their Batman isn't gay?"

Steve just snorts, pulls Eddie closer and answers: "They're right. Their Batman isn't gay. But he's definitely bi."

Also the comic story I'm mentioning exits and is short but fantastic. 10/10 recommend.

Oh also. The first spark happens when Steve sees Eddie's hair and blurts out: "Please tell me they're not making you cut it shorter. It's too gorgeous for that."

Sims 4 x 10 Years!

Ten years ago today, I booked the day off on my work schedule and played a lot of Sims 4.

I'd been a Simmer since 2000, after one of my kids asked for the game because they'd seen it at a friend's house. I played The Sims, and then Sims 2, and then Sims 3. Sims 3 and my computer didn't get on too well, and I fought it a lot, wanting to play rotationally as a micromanager! When the Sims 4 trailers started coming out, I felt like they'd finally made a version of the game that was really for me, as a micromanaging rotational player who doesn't want to restart for new packs and new worlds, and who likes some quirk and exaggeration.  

So on September 2, 2014, I installed Sims 4. (I'd preordered, of course!) I downloaded trailer Sims from the Gallery (I still have a soft spot for Amber -- in one of my saves, back around 2015, she married Elvis Presley). I giggled at Sims sticking their fingers in their ear while they cooked. I got annoyed by the push-ups. I completely failed at making a roof. A Sim read a book while on the toilet and I was delighted. I took my Willow Creek Sim to visit the bar in Oasis Springs and enjoyed the view there (I like the dinos).

I made a self-Sim and spent lots of time tweaking her face till my husband came into the room, glanced at my monitor, and said, "Hey, that's actually you!" She's still my self-Sim (over on my avatar there). I just update her look now and then as I update my own.

I had a lot of fun, and I found myself using Sims as a new creative outlet in ways I hadn't so much before. I felt creative.

Eventually I confessed to my daughter that I'd actually played with my self-Sim. Here she is as a scientist back in 2015. Once upon a time, in an earlier version of the game, we -- me and my kids -- were playing with "us" in game and I died in a model rocket accident. This was traumatic and I was not supposed to play with "us" anymore. This time I did not die.

And here I am still playing! (But my hair went white.) I've had three-day saves and seven-year saves (RIP that save!). I've played every pack, but there are still base game things I haven't done! Sometimes I get really caught up in too much micromanaging with the game (townies really do often need fixing), then a new pack comes out and I try new things and it's a lot of fun again. It makes me laugh.

I've also made new friends in Sims communities and helped lots of Simmers keep playing the game. I started doing that back in 2014. A lot of the Sims community back then was focusing on what was bad about Sims 4. I was having fun with it, though, and enjoyed helping other people on the Forums who just wanted to do that.

That just kind of... morphed. It turned into some Forums posts gathering scattered info about upcoming packs from the various places SimGurus were saying things (I stopped doing those a couple of years ago -- there are websites gathering that info now, and a lot less places it turns up too). It turned into threads gathering info about mods that got broken in big game patches... and that was way back in 2015! I'm delighted that it turned into a whole thing in the community, with different places providing the info different ways. Getting to know the modding community after starting that has been a lot of fun. I even brushed off my old programming knowledge from high school and took over some mods from a modder I'd gotten to know well. I do like the lack of punch cards in modern programming!

I'm also super thankful to EA and Maxis for inviting me some years ago to be a Game Changer (the program that morphed into the EA Creator Network). I love the connections I have with other creators and storytellers and support people in the EACN, even if I feel really tiny next to the big names with their thousands and thousands of followers (but a quick thank you to my little group of Patrons! I appreciate you a ton!). I am also very appreciative of the gifted packs from EA that I receive as part of the EACN. They've helped make it a little bit easier to volunteer my time to supporting other Simmers, even if I do now have to put disclaimers on gameplay content I post, which sometimes feels a bit silly.

tldr: Happy 10th Birthday, Sims 4! I hope it's a fabulous one.

And now I'm going to grab some lunch, do some chores, then dive back into my current save. Cassandra has two love interests to consider, and that jewel is charging up. Plus she really needs a cat. And some actual income. And some improvements in her spellcasting (my previous save's Cassandra was a Mermaid). And that's not to start on Alexander building some skills before he heads off to uni for Robotics...

So after finding out just how behind i really am i decided to finally get around to watching the Miraculous awakening movie, and i must admit that when i first watched the trailer a while back i was immediately completely against it, i mean i hated the new animation designs it looked clunky and out of place and then when i realized it was just a retelling of the story i was furious i was certain they would ruin the entire thing.

Boy was i wrong, the animation while at first glance horrible and shoddy stands out and is perfect for miraculous, while in certain points it looks a bit odd but in others the animation is absolutely gorgeous,

making miraculous look even better than it already did, giving it a flair of beauty that it greatly deserves.

The story line while it doesn't hold a flame in comparison to the original show is still incredible in it's own right, the points where they changed story to fit is actually really good like for instance i love that they focused more on Adrien and Gabriel's grief because I think that's something that was always lacking in the series, i mean sure we saw Adrien grieve but it was in small moments where as the movie made it a major focus point, showing how two people who are so close to each other who have lost the same person can grieve in such different ways

One who's lost his anchor and is desperate for someone to connect with, because it feels like he has no one left in his life to lean on.

And the other who closes himself off believing that he is the only one who has suffered this loss, not seeing that he is in fact further hurting those around him in doing so.

But more than that I love the small tweaks we got to the story like the first meeting between Marinette and Adrien

Sure it's no umbrella scene but personally i kinda like this one as well, it's cute and kinda wholesome, and way better than a one episode enemies to friends trope, here we get to see a meeting between two people no outside parties just them two people trying to escape everyone else to be alone only to run into each other in what id quite possibly the cutest way ever, well I think its great anyway.

But they even changed up the ladybug and chat Noir meeting,

from what i remember chat comes off as trying to look cool, but coming off as some kind of player who doesn't take anything seriously and is always hitting on everyone, but here they made him try and look cool but instead some across as pretentious and arrogant and i kinda like this better, i mean im sure it was what they were always going for even back in episode 1 but I don't feel like that came across but here it definitely does and this just makes it better, it gives ladybug a better reason to not like him, and builds an even better foundation for the relationship they end up building as they see through each other's facades to uncover the people underneath

But not only that there's also Hawk-moth choosing to find his Akuma victims in a prison instead of waiting patiently for someone to get upset about the silliest thing

Okay let's face it while this is brilliant for the movie, it wouldn't exactly have lasted long in the series, but still it's brilliant.

But I think one of my favorite changes in the movie from the series has to he Marinette herself, i mean sure we get our lovable klutz of an MC at the beginning but as ladybug grows so does Marinette, sure we see this in the series as well in small ways like her standing up for her friends and to Chloe, but i don't think we got to properly see it, but in the movie we get to see how a little confidence can go a long way,

Like her finally just plain and simply giving Adrien a gift and asking him out, I mean sure we didn't get the over thinking Marrinette from the show but we did however get a shy, anxiety driven Marrinette

Like we get to see her practically imagining people making fun of her, when from our perspective they are mostly friendly, i like this because this is the side to anxiety a lot of shows and movies get wrong it's not just overthinking every decision because you fear the fallout it can even lead to overthinking what people are thinking of you to the point that you imagine them mocking you or you become so scared of making a fool of yourself in front of them that you close yourself off, but the movie shows us an in depth version of how ladybug changed Marrinette's life giving her the confidence to do things her nerves got in the way of before.

but my favorite change will have to be the reveal it was so absolutely stunning, from the lighting to the scenery to her calling out to him and him expecting ladybug, please for the love of ZAG i need to see the real reveal be this incredible

Watching Your Favorite Niche Celebrity Become the Most Iconic Superhero Ever is Really Crazy

The first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s new Superman movie dropped last week and has since surpassed “The Batman” and “Deadpool and Wolverine” trailers in views. Public opinion, which is typically very divisive on superhero films, appears to be primarily positive! I don’t know much about Superman other than in name (I mean how could you not know his name) but I know a whole lot about David Corenswet. If you haven’t heard, he’s the new one. Within a week I have witnessed him go from someone famous, but still a bitttttt under the radar, to like, a household name. The moment I saw a gay person quote tweet a picture of him in the Clark Kent outfit with the caption, “Raw, next question” I knew a new era was upon us.

I discovered David Corenswet through his role in Hollywood, a Ryan Murphy show that came out in the spring of 2020. The show was a “what if” piece on the widespread diversification of Hollywood post World War II. It most notably stars Patti LuPone, Jim Parsons, Jeremy Pope, Laura Harrier, Jake Picking, Holland Taylor, Dylan McDermitt, and Darren Chris. David Corenswet plays the role of Jack, a veteran trying to get his start in the business. I was immediately enamored with him and his his raw talent, charm, and classic good looks.

During Covid times my only hobbies were media consumption and brief neighborhood walks, so I had plenty of time to obsess over David Corenswet. Back then his filmography was much shorter than it is today, and I burned through it quickly. His other major roles consisted of River Barkley in The Politician, another Ryan Murphy project, and Michael Lawson in a film called Affairs of State. After finishing those, I watched all of his press interviews, every short he starred in, a YouTube comedy web series he made in college called “Moe and Jerrywether” and an episode of an MTV reality show about the dangers of premarital sex. As you can tell, I LOVED him.

My adoration was shared by my best friend, and the two of us spent about two months gushing over him. Pictured below are some screenshots from my private Instagram.

Just like most of my hyper-fixations, my obsessive interest in David Corenswet eventually subsided. Despite not wanting to watch his work all day every day anymore, I looked back on the phase very fondly. Here was this charming, talented guy just barely discovered and I knew about him! It was nice to have someone to follow and be invested in who felt like just mine.

As years went on I followed his career excitedly. I tuned in for films like Look Both Ways, a Netflix original starring him and Lili Reinhart, and Ti West’s Pearl, the second installment in the horror trilogy starring Mia Goth. I also, of course, watched Twisters, where he plays a (very hot) dickhead.

The Superman casting announcement came out this past February, and I was pleasantly unsurprised to see David snagged the role. He was fancasted as Superman/Clark Kent back in 2020 solely based on his appearance and was the subject of quite a few (cursed) photoshops.

I didn’t see much about the upcoming Superman since the casting announcement and then… bam! The teaser graced my screen and my entire Twitter feed was talking about Superman and David Corenswet. Never in my life have I come across a post about him without searching his name or following a tag. Now he’s got edits up the wazzou. All the hype has reignited my obsession and I spent my Christmas consuming David-related content.

All that being said, I am so happy for David and his huge success and I will be PARKED in that theater in July. I would never ever want to gatekeep him and I will gladly talk about him with anyone one who will listen. For the first time in my life I get to say I WAS HERE FIRST!

JWCT S2 TRAILER ANALYSIS/OBSERVATIONS/THEORIES ‼️‼️

Off the bat, we are immediately hit with a shot of some type of dino ranch thing…you can tell its for dinos because you can just barely see a parasaurolophus in one of the pens, and the horns of I think a styracosaurus?? Its some type of ceratopsian, the best guess I could make is, its some type of poaching thingy…kind of like the ones we saw in Dominion…could this be was Brooklynn was trying to show Darius???

It then cuts to a flashback of what happened THAT NIGHT, and we get to see Brooklynn getting attacked by a raptor, whom I identified was Ghost. Brooklynn seems to be having repetitive nightmares of this exact moment, as later she’s waking up from a dream…or, it could be after she was attacked, she fainted due to bloodloss, and someone saved her, and now she’s waking up on their couch??

We then see Brooklynn, most likely just a couple months after her “death”, doing some digging, printing out stuff, and exactly, this sheet of a record from the DPW of “Dinosaur Death Reports”…what could this mean? Does this mean that the so called “hybrid” that was mentioned that is wrecking havoc everywhere is killing a bunch of dinosaurs???

Could this “Dinosaur Liberation” group be the ones who saved Brooklynn? And why she is standing behind the leader looking NOT very endangered…is she now apart of this organization?? The raptor masks seem very specific…as we can see two of the members (the leader, and someone in the back beside Brooklynn, wearing these raptor masks, what significance do the raptor masks hold??)

The Nublar 5 are on an Island, but this isnt the island where the boat is going thats for sure. The Broker knows where the camp fam are, they are tracking them. (Its been conformed we’re gonna find out the IDENTITY of The Broker, but im DYINGGGG to know who it is. I think Soyona is off the table here, so we’re most likely getting a new character.)

This BROKER isnt only exporting dinos, but MAKING THEM TOO???? I think you can see why I scratched Soyona off the table here 😭😭 and these lab things too, which I’m guessing is where the horrible hybrid came from..

Who is this man in the back of Brooklynn’s truck thingy??? And am I tweaking, or is he blindfolded.

This is Brooklynn’s secret apartment, and what looks to be months after the attack…she is getting attacked by a raptor, BUT NOT JUST ANY RAPTOR…IVE IDENTIFIED ITS RED. RED HAS MADE A COMEBACK. But this also begs the questions…why wasn’t Red in s1?? Could she have gotten injured while trying to finish Brooklynn off at her apartment? And also, doesn’t this mean that The Handler KNOWS Brooklynn is still alive, and was attempting to finish her off before the events of s1 take place? Anyway chat ermmm so ready for October 17th‼️‼️

I've gone back to rewatch the Only Friends trailer and have decided to make a post about the scenes that I'm most excited for given that we're only half way through the series and we've already gotten a lot of what's in the trailer☝️

Let's begin!

Nick and Sand's Conversation (about Boston??)

Thus far we have only seen Sand and Nick as allies, which makes sense considering they're roommates. We even had Nick call out Boston for what happened at the apartment on Sand's Bday👀. So the fact that there will be an inevitable confrontation between the two is really intriguing me and I hope it'll happen in the next few episodes!

2. Nick kissing this person we haven't seen yet

TBH I've been on the lookout for this scene since the beginning, and the fact that everything that has gone down still hasn't led us here, makes me SO excited for Nick's character, and what they have in store for Boston's (hopefully) downfall🧏‍♀️ Also note that the back ground seems to be some sort of video/movie studio, so is Boston's downfall going to broadcast more than we think??

3. Another SandRay screaming match

Ok listen... I'm a sucker for a good love story, but I'm also fan of the chemistry these two have in angsty situations😭. We've only seen a couple of scenes of them fighting thus far, but they have a way of showing their passion for each other, even in their fights. That being said, Sand is my favorite character, so I'm worried for what's to come but also super excited that he's officially getting his hands dirty.

4. Sand and Ray in a TINY bath tub

I hope this bathtub is bigger than it looks😭 Honestly, it throws me a bit off that the audio behind this scene in the trailer is from a scene that has already happened in the series, so I feel even more impatient hehe. It makes me intensely curious as to the context and aftermath of this specific scene. Look how cute they are🥺.

5. What seems to be a SandRay confession of feelings

I can't even lie to you guys, this is DEFINITELY the scene that I am looking forward to the most. Intense eye contact, lapel holding, inches apart, and heavy breathing. It literally does not get better than that😫. Even if they don't date after expressing their feelings to each other, at least an acknowledgment that they feel the same things and are both on the same page would be nice. Lord help me the week I have to wait for this knowing it's in a preview😀 .

By the way, speaking of the erasure of actors with dwarfism... Right after I have been hit by this Time Bandits mess, I have just watched the trailer for the live-action Disney's Snow-White. And... honestly all of the problems talked about and issues raised before seem truly non-significant compared to what I actually got out of this trailer. Which I think is the real problem with this movie.

The feeling of... unecessary. I watched the trailer, and I was left with nothing out of it, except a neutral "Why would they make that?" coupled with a tired "Why would I watch it?" Because there was nothing in this trailer that encouraged the audience or gave the audience the desire to go watch it if they already knew the original movie.

Here's my point: when the whole Disney live-action movies trend started (I am going to say "live-action remakes" to differentiate it from older live-action movies like the excellent 101 Dalmatians live-action movie), it worked with an immense success. Why? Because these movies had something to them. Yes they reused classic movies and stuck to them... but in their own, unique way and they didn't hesitate to change things up, to differentiate themselves from it. The most obvious being the Maleficent movie, which was a literal "perspective flip" with a ton of new stuff (moral reversal, backstory given to a villain, anti-villain situation, etc) ; but even the Cinderella live-action "remake" worked hard on having its own style, not hesitating to change the design of some key characters (Lady Tremaine would be my main example). Thus, they worked extremely well. Whether you like them or not, you can't deny they're their own thing and stand up on their own.

Cut to today. I am going to use mainly Disney's remakes of The Little Mermaid and Snow-White (though I could also use stuff like Aladdin or other movies). What's the difference? These movies are remake. Absolute remakes trying to stick as closest to the original as possible: same story, same shots, same designs. They are basically... transpositions. Sure there are some changes (in The Little Mermaid, making Ariel a different skin color and having a whole Caribean style) but they still feel very minor compared to all the efforts made to stick to the original animated piece. Compare the Lady Tremaine case above with Ursula or the Evil Queen in those live-action movies - there isn't an effort to reinvent the character to better fit a live-action universe or a different style of story. They are both created as an attempt to reproduce the original cartoon design as faithfully as possible. And this is what I mean by how "unecessary" these movies are feeling right now. They are literaly just retelling the same story, with minor changes. It feels like so much money and effort and special effects and acting is being thrown away at just... a repetition o what we already have instead of creating anything new.

It's not like Disney run out of fairytales to work with! Imagine that, we could have had a whole new range of live-action fairytale movies! But not it is just... recreating the exact same shots, over and over (I was particularly puzzled by how they worked so hard to recreate the shot of the Evil Queen going down the stairs while having her cape float behind her. You put a lot of effort to recreate this old animated shot, okay... But what's the point? Why would I pay to watch this same shot in live-action when I already did tons of time animated?)

In fact this is why these live-action remakes are bound to feel inferior to the original animated pieces - precisely BECAUSE they are trying to recreate and stick to the original... while being limited by budget and real-life physics and visuals, meaning they will have to tweak it slightly in unsatisfying way. If they had decided to go with their own style and stuff it wouldn't have been a problem (again, Disney's Cinderella live-action, the two Lady Tremaines feel like different characters and thus it is easier to separate these things and look at each on their own).

(It also doesn't help that Disney has been working a LOT of doing live-action versions of their own characters before, from Once Upon a Time to Descendants, so again... trying to recreate exactly things is just bound to cause unpleasant comparisons).

ambessa's cinematic..... this whole thing contradicts what i'd previously wrote for her so that's been scrapped for now until i can tweak it to fit. + it is obviously a lot more league based considering it was a trailer for a new line of skins i believe n i am nawt willing to get that into it bc there's so much shit.

but her dying on the battlefield and being visited by a wolf is!! so fitting.

i recently skimmed through the principles of strength too (amongst some other material), given i've been trying to soak up as much information about noxus as i can (and while it isnt directly about noxus it's vv informative) - and it states that "death was often represented as dualistic in nature, taking a form of the lamb of peaceful death, and the wolf of violent ends." given that noxus values strength above all else, the latter is obviously honoured far more than the former. dying in ones bed (a peaceful death, taken by the lamb) did not display strength and therefore did not deserve as much honour as one who died in the throes of battle (a violent death, taken by the wolf) would receive.

(though i read on the wikipage for kindred that the lamb carries a bow, and those who run from it/will not fall to it proceed to meet the wolf. however,i think in noxian culture they view the lamb and her role differently, as she doesn't have a bow - at least not in the cinematic - but she does hold up a symbol of the wolf to ambessa, which insinuates her job is to lead people to the wolf? or give them the option to fight the wolf, should they desire to? idk i'm still researching rn.)

so it makes sense that ambessa, who lay dying amongst her slaughtered war band, would be visited by death in the form of a wolf.

so it would also make sense for a wolf to challenge someone in the form of a warrior while they're on their deathbed, as again it's something held in such high regards in noxus. it is effectively one last duel to the death to see if she is both worthy enough and strong enough to continue living.

i'm aware that there was somebody else (multiple people?) who fought a wolf in similar situations, but i cant remember details nor names considering i'm really only interested in ambessa and what it means for her. although she technically doesn't fight a physical wolf, and instead the armoured warrior in the trailer which no doubt symbolises death in place of the wolf previously seen. which?? i guess isn't really an assumption seeing as when the warrior expands its shield it shows the face of a wolf - and later down the line it shows her reflection in the shield, explaining the whole 'raised by wolves' thing. both metaphorically in the sense that a wolf raised her from the dead, and that a wolf (the one she fought) 'raises' her into the warrior she becomes throughout the fight.

there's also the scenes with her holding what seems to be a statue of a lamb close to her chest. which doesn't represent a peaceful death considering she's already been fatally wounded in battle, but lambs evidently have huge connotations of peace - so it's likely representing a somewhat subdued, peaceful life? yes, she was a warrior of the noxian army, but her resolve was not as fierce as after her resurrection. and when she finally lets go of it, essentially beginning to separate her somewhat 'peaceful' past self from her present, it returns to her fighting the warrior.

AND!!!! before the whole letting go of the lamb thing she was getting her ass downright fucking whooped, and she was gradually accumulating more and more scars. but as soon as it cuts back to the fight after the release of the lamb she manages to actually land a few solid hits.

when the scene changes to the statue of a younger ambessa holding the lamb, it is in reference to her father taking her to the aftermath of the battle of hildenard. she was only ten years old at the time, but it desensitised her to death and showed her that it wasn't something to be feared, but instead respected - and that greatness required sacrifice. which also ties in with the way she 'sacrifices' the lamb in the cinematic to be able to win against the warrior. but towards the end it goes back to ambessa fighting the warrior, and her sheer will and determination prove her worthy enough to continue with life - considering she was now littered head to toe in scars, had taken quite the beating, yet she still refused to give up, so the fight ends and she is victorious.

AND I LOVE THE END SCENE W THE FLASH OF GOLD ACROSS THE FETUS BECAUSE!! it can absolutely represent mel - which would explain how she has all that magic, because her mother fought death and survived while carrying her. but i saw somewhere that it might also represent ambessa herself. because in a scene before it, a flash of light passes across ambessa's masked face from right to left, and it does the same thing on the fetus. and given that there have been so many flashbacks into ambessa's life throughout the entire cinematic, it cld be another flashback, faaaar into the past, insinuating that ambessa had been chosen by the wolf since birth, and that this was all part of her destiny. again tying in w the whole 'raised by wolves' thing. BUT ALSO the same flash of gold happens to the armour on mel's back when jinx fires at the council, which would also insinuate it was actually mel, which i imagine actually makes more sense.

I have too many conflicting thoughts about the RWRB movie so this is just going to be a long rant about it. I love the book like I've lost count of how many times I've read it and I have a tattoo that references the book. I read it in 2020 when I needed Alex, it helped me come to terms with my sexuality and come out. So it holds a special place in my heart. When I heard about the movie I was optimistically cautious and tried not to get my hopes up or be too critical until we actually started getting content. When I first saw the trailer I was not hopeful, there were a lot of things that just weren't sitting right with me but then they kept releasing clips and photos and they slowly won me over until I was really excited for this film. I was excited to get a queer, happy romcom. I was excited for the representation and I am still after watching the film. We need films like this, that show queer happiness and love and even just sex on screen.

The film on its own (not comparing it to the book) is good, it's campy and romantic and I love it. I love some of the editing choices and how they filmed Alex and Herny's text convos and phone calls especially the turkey gate one (tho I can't believe we didn't get the cornbread line)- I wish they continued this with the emails. I love the lake scene, the Bird's Eye view, the bicep kiss and how Alex is confessing his love but all we can really focus on is the sadness on Henry's face, how he's almost greyish compared to Alex. The way he's positioned looks like a statue or a work of art. However, It's not perfect, some of the dialogue is stilted and the lighting and colouring of some of the scenes could have used tweaking but we accept mediocre straight romcoms all the time so why can't we accept this film's faults? Why do we have to hold queer media to a much higher standard? As a former film student, I couldn't help but notice that stuff but I don't think it subtracts from the film to the point that I don't like it anymore, sure I can't help thinking how I would have done a scene. I laughed a lot and I almost cried and I really think there were some beautiful moments and acting and cinematography. Overall, I really liked it, I would totally watch it again and I might even love it one day.

But, this film is not just a film and we have to look at it from the standpoint of the book. I did squeal and giggle every time we got a moment from the book or a line of dialogue and some of the book's moments were portrayed beautifully. I wasn't even mad at some of the additions to the film, Zarah's lines were great and the whole key/signet ring swap was iconic. But I don't understand why they added in cheesy dialogue when there was stuff they could have pulled from the book. And the things that were missing!?!? The emails were barely in it- they are so important to the storyline so when they weren't really there and then they were leaked it felt so out of the blue and the importance felt lost- it was literally just horny letters, like what about love confession in the form of historical love letters and the Waterloo vase and Henry's fears and Alex's list of the things he loves about Henry. AND the fact that the emails weren't even linked back to Richards wtf. June was a missing piece, her relationship with Alex and her place in their friend groups is so key to the story. Characters were butchered- Nora was great for the five minutes we got to see her and then *poof* she was gone (I also missed the burrito convo and how she figured out who leaked the emails). Pez I think said one line, what the actual fuck. Henry was a sad boy but they brushed over his depressive bouts. Bea could have been replaced with a lamp until the very end in which her one contribution was to point out the crowds (which makes me so mad that we didn't get their mother and that storyline). Bea is punk and a drug addict and it was such an important storyline. and ALEX, fuck, Alex is who I related to, ADHD, chaotic, messy bisexual. I wanted to see him get lost in his work and forget about dinner with June. I wanted him to come to terms with his sexuality on screen and tell his mum and she do the fucking PowerPoint. And actually come out to his dad - I feel like half the convo got cut cuz it kinda came out of nowhere. My tattoo references chapter 9 of RWRB specifically, it's the chapter in which Alex comes out to both his parents, I got the tattoo the year I came out to both of mine, those scenes mean a lot to me. and don't get me started on the removal of the divorce, as a child of divorce I saw myself in Alex and June and loved how they showed the parent's relationship and the unconventional family they have. why did they have to remove that?!? Aren't we past the stage of needing to only see nuclear families?! this is a queer story and we kinda lost the found family that Alex, Henry, Bea, June and Pez find and I'm sad. AND I'm so angry we didn't get kimonos and karaoke and the (hinted) thruple June, Nora and Pez. Also, why is Alex giving his speech before they've even talked to Henry or the king, it makes no sense when the king like 'We could make it fake' when Alex has been on tv saying he's in a relationship with Henry and they're in love. I'm also in two halves about the 'history huh' I think they made it work as dialogue but I still would have loved it in the emails. I've seen a lot of people say that there is chemistry between the actors who play Alex and Henry but it's not the same as the book because we get more time between the characters in the book than in the film. Yes, but also, what we see in the movie is most if not all the in-person moments with the characters what's missing is the emails, that's where we see them fall in love (or reveal in Henry's case). The emails are such a driving force and I can't believe they've been reduced down so much. I also feel like in giving us a fun, romantic film they've watered down and gotten rid of most of the harder topics to make the film more palatable (like Bea's drug addiction, divorce, even the homophobia and the politics).

I feel like the queers won with this film but I did not. I'll still watch it again and once the hurt has lessened I'll probably be able to love this film for what it is but I'll mourn the film we could have had. (though personally, I would do a mini-series so we could really sit in it.)

The Mirai days update:

We got a date! And a time- sort of, but honestly the announcement is a little confusing on that part because it doesn't always specify timezones when it's talking about it. If we take the 2am 12th to be the UTC+0 time of release, and what the late slot release refers to, then looks like it could be about the same as the current precure release, which would be interesting.

That promotional image...I am not holding my breath after Otona, but the way the girls are holding each other, staring into each others eyes... pleasepleasepleaseplease make my girls canon Toei!!!

We got updated transformation designs that actually acknowledge the cures growing up! And I like how it's subtle, but well thought out: Magical has bloomers, which is probably more suited to her personality, and perchance for falling off stuff. She also gets a more ornate/refined design on her overskirt, befitting of a legendary magician. Both have slightly altered upper arms and tops, which I'm not going to beat around the bush with and just say they accomadate a more adult figure. But again, it's subtly done (tweak on the arm/shoulder design to go with, the bodice opens up in more of a v, and the bust is mostly hidden behind a bow so it's still modest, but practical, and the approach does remind me very much of another precure season that gave their cures more adult designs. But on a practical level, it's all really well thought out in a way that gives me hope for the rest of the series, especially after the mis-steps Power of Hope made.)

...I guess you could say they got a Fresh design.

The updated cure designs do make me wonder if we're not going to see the other designs as something of a trade-off though. I still want Cure Mofurun to be a thing. Maybe they gave her the topaz stone, and the rest of theirs fused or something. Idk

But anyway, I am super hyped about this one. It'll be interesting to see what the news is going to be on the 7th (Dec). Seems a bit late for a trailer drop, though I could be wrong.

eddie lives in the trailer by himself bc wayne ended up finding love and moving out (eddie graduated by now he works at whatever job fits him) he didn’t want to work but after being a dad and livin on his own he had to step up,

bc he still lives in the trailer his foddler doesn’t has their own room (i’m not picking genders but i am rooting for a girl hehe) so they sleep with eddie in the bed (which i want some drama between the reader and eddie on how they never get alone time in bed bc of toddler always sleeping with them) eddie doesn’t MIND that his kid sleeps with him he likes that his child depended on him.

i think a toddler is good for the reader in this sense bc then the reader has to tru and impress the toddler while also trying to impress Eddie, bc this child eddie whole world you can’t be an evil step mom and you want the kid to like you and maybe love u in the future. And maybe eddie like “you don’t wanna be with me i have a 4 year old.” or maybe the readers friends are against the idea of the reader being with someone with a child 👀

Oh and the prestages of dating eddie you try and over do it by helping with his kid like small things and it makes eddie upset bc those are things he’s suppose to do and he says “You aren’t her mom okay?” (good for drama )

I like the one where they don’t get alone time, but I’m not a massive fan of co sleeping with toddlers so I’d tweak that to maybe she had a bad dream while the Reader is sleeping over and kinda interrupts their “alone” time because she asks to sleep with them and duh Eddie says okay and it’s just something the Reader has to be learn to be okay with.

I also like the thought of Eddie kinda of snapping at the Reader for maybe fixing the little girl’s boo boo and making her feel better, maybe it happened while he was out mowing the lawn or at work and when the Reader tells Eddie what happened he kinda just snaps and goes “you’re not her mom you shouldn’t be the ones fixing her scrapes and cuts. I am, I’m her dad. Im supposed to be there and make everything better for her. Not you.” And it just turns into a moment where Eddie is super vulnerable because he hates that sometimes he’s just not there, and he feels like he’s in over his head and doesn’t know what he’s doing. 😩💖

Kazutaka Kodaka's "DEATH COME TRUE" starts with your character — a small young man in a hoodie named "Makoto" — waking up in confusion, initially unclear on where he is or how he got there.

So. You know. Kind of a familiar start.

For the uninitiated: Kodaka is the guy who created/wrote Danganronpa.

Yeah. Now you're getting it. These opening moments feel like an olive branch to everybody who played and embraced the first DR title.

Also, if you're a Danganronpa fan? Briefly skim through this trailer for DEATH COME TRUE featuring illustrations of each DCT character as drawn by DR character artist Rui Komatsuzaki in his signature style. SO COOL.

Makoto winds up having amnesia, which is clearly a beloved trope for Kodaka. And if I'm being honest, the whole "protagonist who wakes up with some level of amnesia, leaving them to suss out where they are and why" is a beloved trope for me as well. As I've learned what kinds of stories and media leave me most satisfied and/or engaged over the years, I've come to accept that I am, frankly, a sucker for that well-worn setup.

I'm obviously a sucker for Kodaka as well — his writing has produced BIG FAVES of mine and has yet to disappoint me. I adore and admire his GDC presentation on creating memorable characters, considering it rather inspirational. Though I sadly haven't experienced everything he's done (anybody wanna translate "School of Ragnarok" into English?), I'm obviously In The Tank for this "game."

HOWEVER... ! At the risk of outing myself as a Bad Fan®, I only finally played (er... watched?) DEATH COME TRUE just last night. In goddamn April 2023, almost three friggin' years after its initial release. See... I was aware that this is basically just an interactive movie where you make binary choices on occasion, and I was ALSO aware that it's short enough to be completed in one playthrough. And so, in spite of the writing pedigree behind it, I wound up holding out for a pretty major sale before picking it up. I saw such a sale like one or two weeks ago, so here I (finally) am!

Makoto wakes up in a hotel suite where he IMMEDIATELY sees a news broadcast that identifies him as a wanted serial killer, much to his understandable horror. He then finds a woman laying in the suite's bathtub that's either dead, asleep, or unconscious. While he's still getting his bearings, there's a knock at the suite's door, and you're thrown into making your first of many choices.

I rather doubt it's considered standard practice for the evening news in Japan to put jokey newscasters wearing loud suits in front of pastels to announce warnings about at-large serial killers. But hey, what do I know?

As I'd previously heard and read, you only "control" your character insofar as you select one of two binary choices at various points in a "Choose Your Own Adventure"-type way. This remains true until you're in the home stretch of the story, which is when they finally start bringing in some choices with more than two options... but those choices have less impact than the usual binary ones, so that expansion of the concept comes out as a wash.

This is a mystery story with murder as a major component, as is Kodaka's primary wheelhouse. The main story only takes about 2.5-3 hours to reach whatever is your ultimate ending (and there are really only two legitimate endings that aren't bad endings/deaths). Along the way, Kodaka fans will recognize a number of themes and concepts he's used over the years, but I won't spoil what they are. Some of them are reused in a straightforward fashion, while others are tweaked or mildly subverted from what you might've seen in his various Dangan tales. And if you're unfamiliar with Danganronpa? Then it's surprising and it's a little weird that you're reading this, but it's gonna make the story of this game much more surprising and twisty for you.

One thing you won't see coming: His swag.

That's not to say that a seasoned Kodaka fan like myself wasn't adequately surprised and engaged at plenty of points, though! I was worried that the "live-action choose-your-path movie" format would leave me less invested than visual-novel-style mystery game with more direct control, but in actual practice, I was UTTERLY absorbed. That's right: To the surprise of precisely no one, I strongly liked DEATH COME TRUE. And given that Kodaka was both the writer AND the director of this "movie," I was really pleasantly surprised by his skill behind the camera. (Though I don't talk about it very much on this Tumblr, I've long been a movie/filmmaking fan, so let me put on that hat for a minute.) There are some dramatic camera moves and angles that served to heighten my adrenaline/tension during key moments. And although I can't say for sure how much he 'directed' his actors, the cast is goddamn excellent. EXCELLENT. I found myself rewinding to watch their eyes and subtle movements in various scenes. The performances sucked me into the narrative just as much as the story. I'm a filthy American dork who doesn't consume much Japanese live-action media, so I was only aware of two of the actors in here from their relatively minor roles in American movies. Furthermore, I didn't know the lead actor, Kanata Hongō, from anything at all! But based on his performance here, I want to look up more of his work.

Chihiro Yamamoto is the only actor here who seems to think she's playing a Danganronpa character — for both better AND worse.

Did I feel ANY disappointments during my experience? One obvious one is the brevity of the experience: I would've been happy to spend twice as long with these characters in this world. But for something like $6-$12, it's satisfying enough. My only other two disappointments were: A) The ultimate "culprit" behind everything was too easy to peg. As soon as that character first comes on-screen, they struck me as the obvious culprit behind everything, so it's unfortunate that they wound up being that predictable. And B) There's one character/actor who is just deeply underutilized/unexplored. They provide a bizarre, fascinating presence that barely has any role in the proceedings, and by the time the ending reveals of the story roll around, I can't help but wonder how they fit into this story at all?

Don't take those gripes as anything major, though. DEATH COME TRUE is never gonna have a super strong place in my heart, but I spent those few hours entranced and will fondly remember them. ALSO: You unlock achievements and videos by experiencing as many deaths as possible, so there's actually a benefit to screwing things up! The videos include behind-the-scenes "Making Of" footage as well as the full-length takes of the newscasters who are heard in the background of the opening scene. It's the latter that's especially fun, because the performers clearly knew that they were recording material that would be muffled/obscured, and they have a good time getting weird with it.

It's hard for me to look over my death medal collection without imagining they're accompanied by death metal, because homophones amuse me.

Look: Kodaka has always been clear that this was a very quick project that was rapidly thrown together and executed before he settled in and focused on writing the scenario for Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. It's his baby, but it's also a side gig. With that in mind, the shortness of the experience is more understandable. It also means that you shouldn't expect it to have the depth of his other narratives/games. It's a Kodaka snack, not a meal. But this still a snack with a ton of nutritional value and flavor packed into its small size and minimalist packaging. Take a night to experience it. As long you don't pay full retail, I doubt you'll regret it.

Maybe I'll throw Bert in for fun as a side thing while Nick is trying to mold this used car salesman of a man into a Respectable Alto (it will not work) If not he'll probably go in Oasis Springs

Adding Don's mom as a townie idk I just like it when sims have more connections. For this same reason I'm considering keeping Dina & Nina's mom alive but at the same time they have their aunt Katrina too.

Also I'm sticking Don in My apartment build I shared not too long ago, thinking of putting Johnny instead in a trailer park along with the Brokes

On that note the residential rental lot helps so much with how small the worlds are that I kind of really want to include it.. and honestly I'm actually starting to struggle a bit with the whole base game only thing in general lol. More on that tho later bc I haven't made any decisions other than that I definitely want an all packs version of the save

sweet disaster // the notes + the prologue

hey y’all! ever since finding the tgm community here on tumblr earlier this summer I’ve had a little idea floating around I just couldn’t let go of. after incubating said idea (read: storyboarding and note taking/ visualizing scenes as I’m driving/ having hot girl backyard time/ while washing dishes/ as I am folding laundry/ etc. etc. etc.), I got a first little prologue-y type chapter written up! I have a vague idea of where this fic is headed but I’m allowing myself the creative freedom to not have anything super nailed down yet, and instead just letting this little world evolve however it will. we will find out together! I have missed writing lately, and even though most of my writing over the years has been either academic or free verse poetry, I’m excited to give prose a try! 

a bit of housekeeping: I wrote this initial bit as a second person pov but with a named character (we are JJ). it’s what felt the most comfortable to write, but if it really weirds all y’all out, I’d be willing to accept that constructive criticism and switch to a different pov. I want us to feel immersed, but if it gets clunky (especially with, perhaps, pov changes later on) then I’m willing to change the pov, and that would include tweaking this chapter as well post-posting. 

as far as warnings go? each chapter will have chapter-specific warnings, as needed, but overall this story will touch on mental health issues, a bit of angst, some smut down the road, language, military inaccuracies, etc. basically the usual warnings for most fics on here -- like I said, I will update those warnings for each chapter as they arise. we’re starting off super mellow with just a slight language warning for this teaser trailer appetizer thing.

“JJ, come ON! You have nothing else going on today! You’re taking a day off from working out, you went grocery shopping yesterday, and I know you’re not working later today, either.” She ticks the reasons off on her fingers before throwing a particular withering look your way, dropping her chin to really send the point home. You inhale sharply, lowering the coffee mug from your lips, counterpoints halfway off your tongue, already feeling the words in your mouth – but, well, fuck. As your best friend, roommate, and coworker – you didn’t have counterpoints. And she knew it, fighting her smile at first, being a good sport about it, but you both knew her eyes were twinkling with excitement.

“Okay. Okay.” You put your hands up in surrender, laughing now, as she squeals and rushes forward to throw her arms around you.

“Yay! Yay! Emi said yes, too! I promise, J, it’s gonna be fun. We’ll have fun! It’s something different! And . . .” she smirks, really going heavy on the whole “devil in the angel’s eyes” thing. “I wanna go support our troops, you know?”

At that, you roll your eyes. “Really, Kennedy? This still?”

“YES.” She held your shoulders in her hands, staring directly into your soul. “JJ. My last date was a fuckin’ trainwreck. I can’t do it anymore! I don’t wanna keep sifting through shitty profiles on my phone only to get a go on a lukewarm-at-best, somebody-sedate-me at worst date!!” She’s graduated to shaking your shoulders, a quarter laughing but three quarters serious. Parker, the most recent online dating disaster, was a pretty bad date for her, you knew that – beginning with when he honked and texted “here” to come pick Kennedy up. She hates that shit – you all do, of course. The group chat went feral over that one. 

“I know, Ken. I’m sorry. I’ll go, okay? I’ll be your wingwoman, if you need. I just – I really don’t want you to get hurt, okay? You’ve had your fair share of shitbags, and –”

“JJ, god, I’m not looking for anything serious! This is an attempt at streamlined efficiency more than anything else,” she giggles. “I just wanna go spend my afternoon looking confused at an air show, take in the beauty of the United States military machine” – cue eye roll – “flirt with as many men as possible, and see how many numbers I can get. We’ll be like those women in the USO in the forties! It’s really your patriotic duty, J.”

“My patriotic duty?? USO? Jesus, Ken –” you break off, fully cackling now, coffee set down on the counter a safe distance from where you’re gripping the counter bent over laughing. “Should we bring little American flags to hand out, too?”

That catches her off guard. “I mean . . . I think I’m covered on the tiny flag front . . .” The mischief glints in her eyes over a knowing smile, a language in which only best friends are fluent.

“KENNEDY!” You gasp, pretending to be scandalized. Your best friend could kill a man without laying a single finger on him, you know this, but her penchant for flair still caught you off guard at times. “You are NOT wearing your stars and stripes undies to this air show! I thought you were just getting phone numbers!” 

Kennedy sighs, planting her hands on her hips. “Ohh, but I am, J. I am.” She passes by you, patting your back. “We leave in an hour! Emi is meeting us there!” she sings as she glides down the hallway. “It’s gonna be fuuuuuuuun! You’re gonna have fun, JJ!!”

You turn back to your coffee, threading your fingers through the handle, shaking your head at Kennedy’s antics. You knew she was right; if all you did today was watch your best friend flirt with men in uniform, narrating the encounters documentary-style with Emi, then it’d be worth it. 

Memorable, at the very least.

Backgrounds:

Using the 3D models I made in Maya, I put them into Photoshop and drew over them to create a 2D environment - 

Adding wooden textures:

I added metal textures to the shelves and drew in the shadows over top. Using the opacity I made the shading - 

The textures are subtle but become more noticeable when the rest of the scene is completed. I added textures to the floor as well. At first I liked the floor but then it started to bug me so I changed it later on-

These are my scenes with the last textures and images added to them. First I did the aisle and added the ceiling. I got the metal textures for the walls and added those in to give more depth. I like how the background shelves blends in to the ceiling - 

With walls - 

I wanted this to look more like a set, with the only colours coming from the poison and the food which could be contaminated by Smylex. The simplicity of the set gives of an eerie ness and uncanny valley vibe, this will be played up more with my audio I was making at the same time, it just needed some last minute tweaks. 

With the floor bugging me I decided to change it so it blended in better - 

In the editing process of the video I wanted to add in static images and darker areas to add a horror factor. I have edited video before for projects and I really love editing more than anything else, other than concept designing. The audio has sounds from both the movie and added music and effects free from YouTube. I had to edit pieces of the movie audio to cut out the talking over the broadcast in the movie. 

The second background had been changed. I didn’t like the walls in the draft so I got a brick texture to edit and apply into the scene I will be changing around a few things with the rooms again - 

I decided to grey out the food in the first scene so it fits better with the narrative and the environment. The colours are slightly visible but it could still show it’s tampered with. I also added graffiti to the sign with the letter S for Smylex and also stained with the product itself. It makes the scene pop and pulls your attention towards the poisonous product - 

I wasn’t able to complete as much as I’d have hoped because I have been struggling with health issues, but I managed to get the scenes, characters and audio all completed which I am happy with.

After getting all my designs completed for the characters, scenes and props I managed to create my audio which I tweaked with Blender, I was more confident using Blender since I edited videos with this for my own projects. This is the mix of the edited movie audio, added sound effects and horror & circus music which I got from YouTube, copyright free -

I wanted a goofy animation with music but with sinister undertones. I t’s for an advertisement inside of a teaser trailer for a  game or possibly series about killer clowns/demons who poisons people. I used three royalty free sounds for the music and ambiance and static effect for the ending. The animation will have static on screen which should let the viewer know they’re watching this from a TV screen playing a broadcast video. The main clown, Carnival will be speaking, the two female voices are the puppets. The looping laugh at the end which I also edited to make a longer loop, will show Carnivals head spinning on a spiral background until the screen is corrupted with white noise and static, until errors take over and it closes.

I feel the audio is decent for what I’m going with, it’s the first time I have edited audio or done editing in this way before, and I really enjoyed it. I feel as though I could do better now since then because I have learnt more with editing and I’ve moved onto a better software for my editing. There are tweaks that could be done to this sound here and there but overall I’m okay with the result of the audio.
