After three days I have finally finished FL3 (I kept falling asleep) and it still makes me wanna cry Happy tears. God I love them. I love his passion and how it matches hers. I love how she stuck in his brain, guiding him even if he never thought he’d see her again. How she always wondered.

I get giddy when I read it. Like giggles and blanket kicking giddy. It’s so cool to see how you’re writing has changed over two years as well! And how it’s stayed the same. Seeing specifics Ryen words put throughout and ones I know you never use anymore.

In short, they were and still are my first love of your stories. And I’ll keep coming back for them ♥️

but oh gosh, i'm so happy you got to read it all the way through again and that it makes you cry happily. that couple is still near and dear to my heart, and their passions are something to behold! i'm glad he was able to find his way - both in life and back to reader. the fact that she was always with him.. ugh. my heart. can you imagine if i made the timeskip even farther on in their lives?? UGHHHH that would've hurt so fcking bad but so damn good.

ah, yes! the writing has definitely changed but the essence is still there? like i've grown while still polishing things. i can't wait to finally revamp FL3 all the way, but it's also cool to look back and see how far i've come since then.

i'm glad you'll keep coming back to them, because i will, too. they're still out there to me, figuring things out and with each other.

my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.

and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.

good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.

sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.

so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.

one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.
