So we're not threadjacking that poor person's post anymore. XD

YES, in G1 Skyfire and Starscream were scientist buddies pre-War. That remains in some continuities, and is honestly the fan-favourite for the two of them in most iterations. Key word being most.

In the Aligned continuity (Which Transformers Prime is a part of, I know you're watching right now~) Megatron was a gladiator, yes. He rose to the top of the gladiatorial pits, though he was also a poet. Somewhat of the embodiment of the warrior-poet, though not as much as what is portrayed in the IDW continuity.

For Prime and other Aligned-related bits (the novels, RID 2015, Rescue Bots, etc.) he definitely has the braggadocio, and the cunning. He is moderately science-minded, in the way that all bots must be to some extent to be able to operate their own technology, but he is not a scientist, nor was he ever any kind of aristocrat. One of his biggest things is bragging about how he came from the pits and worked his way up from nothing. It's one reason he resorts so very easily to violence, despite his clear and marked intelligence. In...most cases. We are not including the idiocy that is EVERYTHING to do with Dark Energon, because then we would have no cartoon plot.

I am still mad about what they did to Cliffjumper. I know it was necessary for the plot, but the poor guy didn't even make it halfway through the season! Though, it is thematically important, both what they did and how Arcee is treated and developed. Keep an eye on it!

IDW goes much the same route with Megatron being a warrior-poet who started in the mines, got in trouble and wound up in the gladiatorial pits as punishment, and then rose to the top as a gladiator, then used that infamy to publish his works condemning the Senate. Which caught the eye of Orion Pax and Senator Shockwave, resulting in some interesting times Pre-War. Megatron, however, believed that violence was the only way to solve the corruption plaguing Cybertron, and others...disagreed. Hence you get the start of hatred, perceived betrayal, and a severe rivalry that ends up in all-out War, with some bots unfortunately getting caught in the middle of it and getting their lives destroyed even before tensions became full-fledged battle (but this is about Megatron and I will not tangent into a Shockwave rant....)

As for aristocracy and Megatron...that is straight from Transformers Animated, back in 2007. It's not part of the Aligned continuity, it's its own thing. Again, we don't actually know Megatron's backstory in that, just what we get in the show and some snippets of him leading the 'Cons in the past. We know he overthrew Megazarak, who led the Decepticons as a splinter off of the Destrons, and the claim is that Megazarak was exiled, though everyone knows Megatron straight up killed him.

From clues in the show he likes the finer things in life and has both the means and the contacts to get said finer things, and he knows how to carry himself as an aristocrat. Now whether or not that is a put-on is hard to say, but evidence points to him having actually been a Cybertronian aristocrat back in the day. Yes he is large like other Warframes, which society at large has deemed makes one automatically a Decepticon, since Autobots seem to generally be of the companion and civilian frame-types (besides Warrior classes like Optimus, Sentinel, and Ultra Magnus, but even THEY are small in comparison to Decepticons, though they are lauded as the elite of the elite in Autobot society), however, Megatron's frame shape says that he is a Warrior class, not a "Warframe". He looks as though he has modified himself to be larger, like the true Warframe Decepticons, but his shape belies the fact that he was clearly a Warrior class at some point in time. He also speaks and behaves like an aristocrat, not like one pretending at it. He doesn't like getting his hands dirty when someone else can do the dirty work for him, for instance. He seems to feel as though the world owes him a favour, and not in the way that delusions of grandeur usually manifest, as they do in Starscream. He is the elite, of course the world owes him a favour!

But again, this is all conjecture, as we're never actually given that bit of backstory. Animated ended too soon, tragically.

So, I have finally gotten around to seeing Transformers One and now I want to talk about what I did and didn't like about it. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS, you have been warned.

What I Liked:

I really liked all of the bot designs. The sort of classic square nature mixed with some roundness here and there really does work in my opinion. I especially liked seeing some designs like Soundwave's alt mode being based on their alt mode from this Bumblebee movie toy and I believe it was the same for Ironhide towards the end of the movie too. Shockwave's alt mode looked to be based on their alt mode from Fall Of Cybertron/Rise Of The Dark Spark, at least I think it was. Those generic trooper guys looked kind of like the Vehicons from Transformers Prime, which I am sure was not intentional but, just something I thought of when I saw them.

The score by Brian Tyler was really great too and a great choice of composer in my opinion. Not sure if it was intentional but, I could hear some ques to the music of Transformers Prime in there too and I liked that. But, overall, a really great score.

The animation was all really good and really clean to me.

I thought that the voice acting was very good. Going into the movie, I had heard and read people saying that Hemsworth just sounded like himself and I have to disagree as he did a distinct voice for Orion and for Prime and neither sounded the same and neither sounded like his normal voice. Same goes for the other voice cast as well.

What I Didn't Like/Could Have Been Better:

The plot was incredibly predictable and it was easy to see from pretty early on that something was off about Sentinel Prime, even if I didn't know the specifics but, it was not a shock to me when learning of his betrayal.

D-16 becoming evil, while it was something we all saw coming, needed to happen more gradually than it did. Once they learned of Sentinel's betrayal, D-16 right off the bat wants to bury Sentinel Prime. Then, D-16 get the t-cog and it's like a switch is flipped, evil mode activated. From the beginning of the movie, D-16 should have been much more anti-authority but, no, they're all about follow protocol which, makes no sense for their character and who they become.

I don't really like this iteration of Orion Pax because there are no inklings of the characteristics of who they'll become later in the movie. Elita-1 says in a speech that Pax does all these courages things and I just don't see it. To me, all the things Pax does are without any logic and they just happen to work out based purely on dumb luck. I hate to say it, but I think that Pax should have had to work a lot harder to be worthy of The Matrix Of Leadership than just taking a shot for Sentinel Prime. I just don't think that Pax did all that much to really be deemed worthy of it and it feels like Pax needed to have it because plot.

I'm not the biggest fan of making both Pax and D-16 miners as I think their origin story of Pax being book smart and D-16 being street smart and sharing the same ideals (at first) for the future of Cybertron has a little more impact.

I really wish they had also made D-16 a gladiator, would have been cool to see some gladiator combat in the pits of Kaon but, oh well.

B-127's entire personality and character is that they never stop talk and that's it.

Elita-1's entire personality and character is that they think they're better than everyone and that's it.

The humor was very hit and miss for me, with more misses then hits.

The mid and post credit scenes were alright. The mid credit scene was just there for the funnies and the post credit scene was just Megatron vowing revenge.

Overall, for as much as I like and recommend the movie, it could have been a lot better too. Still good and enjoyable and I recommend giving it a watch.

Primus Help the Outcasts 3

Frag. Frag. Frag. Jazz had largely been removed the news. Once he had left the Elite Guard, he had removed himself from the business of international affairs. Of course he had known about Praxus. Everyone knew about Praxus. But he did not get his news from tabloids or the court of public opinion and he had been delighted to see the young Praxians and their originator turn up at the dojo. He had not expected to see Praxians in Simfur, but it had been good to see them. There had been so many deaths. Prowl, as he had introduced himself, had seemed stiff when he had returned later and registered Bluestreak in the Twins class after their mechlings had paired up in school. Master Yoketron had been his hope and his lifeline. Arriving at the dojo and hearing the news of the Master’s death had obviously put a wrench in his plans. Jazz would honour his mentor’s legacy. It was the right thing to do.

In the evening, he would touch base with his contacts in the Elite Guard to see if he could verify any part of Prowl’s story. But even if it was a self-serving lie, Jazz preferred to house a liar than see two mechlings on the streets. He realized he could probably just ask Smokescreen for confirmation but asking the mechling if he had been raped or molested by a trio of Seekers was not something he was about to do. It would be brutally unfair to him. Prowl, would probably kill him for it too, or try to at least. Jazz had seen the smooth, controlled flick of Prowl’s servo when he had removed that priest’s servo from his aft and then broken his digits. He had used the perfect amount of force. After he had left Simfur and the dojo, Jazz was willing to bet he had kept up his training.

“Ori, Geni, Genitor, I got someone for ya to meet,” Jazz called when he led Prowl into the shop. Rumbler, his geni poked his helm out from the workshop. His ori, Punch and his genitor, Sprocket, came out from behind the shelves they had been stocking. “This is Prowl. Ya met his bitlets, Smokey ‘n Blue, at the dojo. They’re needin’ a place to stay. I offered them Ric’s old place.”

“I’ll get some fuel,” Sprocket said, his optics raking up and down Prowl’s emaciated frame. “‘N we’ll talk shop... in the shop? Rumbler?”

“Nothin’ explosive right now,” Rumbler replied. “I’ll pull up the table.”

“I saw yer faceplates in the news quite a bit, a while back,” Punch said. Prowl tensed.

“Ya know the Senate ain’t gonna tell the whole truth,” Jazz said.

“I don’t got much use for the Senate,” Punch agreed. “Ya got a good youngling, Prowl. He’s helped us in the shop a coupla times when we needed an extra set of servos.”

“I did not realize,” Prowl replied in a stilted monotone. “He is a great help with his brother.”

“He seemed a lil thin when I saw’m last. He’s gettin’ ‘nough fuel?”

“I... he fuels.”

“Ya don’t.”

“Ori, let’m sit before ya interrogate ‘m,” Jazz sighed. “I caught the fraggin’ priest groppin’m when I dropped in. ‘M thinkin’ it wasn’t a one off.”

“No...”

“Priest. Heh,” Punch sneered. “Cut from the same sentio-metallico as Sentinel Prime, that greedy creep.”

Sprocket returned with a tray laden with his fresh baked goodies and Punch let the way into the back workship. Prowl hesitated. Jazz watched him. Given Ori’s opening salvo, he might have thought rejection was coming, but Jazz knew his procreators better. As Prowl continued to hesitate, Jazz was patient. The mech was clearly tired, fuel deprived and traumatized. How many times had mechanisms tried to take advantage of him since he had arrived in Simfur? Had he even seen a medic, had any of them seen medics since the disaster in Praxus? Fragging Pit, the only thing Jazz missed about Polihex was Ratchet.

“They ain’t gonna bite,” Jazz promised and he took Prowl’s servo.

“Your originator...”

“Is testin’ the waters. It’s a’ight. Come on. Let’s get this scrap sorted out before we gotta pick the mechlings up from school.”

Prowl servo was cold yet their was a film on condensation on his palm. Jazz guided him into the workshop and over to the table and chairs they usually used for family poker-cycle. Sprocket pointed to a chair with a plate already filled with baked goodies and a tall cube of mid-grade set in front of it. Once again, Prowl hesitated to sit, but Jazz gave him a little nudge and took the chair next to him. He took a quick look around. They were surrounded by the tools of his procreators business. Machines in various states of disrepair covered the floor space. Rumbler was a talented engineer but the family did more business doing repairs than custom builds. Mechanisms in Simfur did not need war machines.

“Genitor’s a mean baker,” Jazz said. “Best energon nuts around. Eat up. I know that pressed energon didn’t fill ya up.”

“Thank you,” Prowl said. For a mech who had to have been famished, he ate slowly and neatly. Jazz watched his genitor watching him. It was going to take a lot more than this to put healthy mass on Prowl’s frame.

“Ya been lookin’ for work, Prowl?” Punch asked.

“Yes,” Prowl replied, faultlessly polite as the interrogation continued. “I was recently fired and evicted by my employer...”

“Lockdown,” Jazz interjected. All three of his procreators sneered.

“We won’t hold that against ya,” Rumbler grumbled. “Didn’t wanna handle stolen goods?”

“I...” Prowl paused again. “No. I was working security... I did not... he wanted to interface. I did not.”

“Sounds like that piece of scrap,” Rumbler said. The questioning continued. Where had applied to work, where he planned to apply. Jazz understood where they were coming from. He had the biggest bleeding spark in the family. They did not want to get stuck with a tenant who could not pay the rent.

“Did ya lose yer appetite?” Punch asked, changing the subject so quickly that Jazz jerked his helm. He looked down at the Praxian’s plate, and found it not even half eaten.

“No...” Prowl was not a good liar. Jazz almost patted the back of his servo.

“Take lil bites,” Punch ordered. “Ya won’t be any good to yer mechlings if ya waste on ‘em will ya?”

“Y’re a’ight,” Jazz said as he looked at his procreators, feeling a little defensive. “I ain’t worried ‘bout rent. I’ll get’m a job. I got one for Bumblebee, didn’t I?”

“Ya did,” Rumbler said. “It’s gonna be harder for this one, though, ain’t it Prowl? Ya got the deck stacked against ya.”

“It is,” Prowl replied. “My Conjunx was a popular mech amongst his peers.”

“Do ya have regrets?” Punch asked.

Jazz hissed at his procreators: “Enough.”

“I regret not shooting him,” Prowl said. His plating clattered as he started shivering. Jazz looked over to him with concern. He thought better of holding him, thinking it would scare him and kept his servos on the table. “But I didn’t know where my sparkling was. I looked everywhere for him when we got away. I stared at the cameras and the transports they were loading and I could not find him.”

“Y’re a’ight,” Jazz soothed. He brushed his servo over the back of Prowl’s servo. His plating was still unnervingly clammy. “Ya got’m back.”

“They made him watch the bombing before the dropped him in the rubble,” Prowl’s digits curled into the table and he stared down, unseeing. Jazz looked over to his procreators, silently asking, could you just not? “Revenge against me for killing the Trine that raped me after they molested Smokescreen. Crosscut gave us to them. He prostituted us in hopes that Wing Leader would designate him Vassal Lord in reward for his cooperation.”

“Sounds to me like his death was too easy,” Sprocket ground out.

Of Jazz’s procreators, Sprocket had the fiercest temper. His function had been as a reconnaissance specialist but his intelligence packets had tended to be coordinates of the smoking ruin he had left behind. His brother had built him an exoskeleton that had given him more firepower that one would have expected of a scout. Punch fondly called his sparkmate flashy.

“I do not want to fuel anymore. I am going to be sick.”

“Y’re a’ight,” Jazz crooned, and he rubbed Prowl’s back as he lowered his helm to the table. “Y’re a’ight.”

“We’ll have to get furniture,” Rumbler declared. “Ricochet took his scrap ‘n, anyways it wasn’t the slag a pair o’ mechlings need.”

“The Megastore does same-cycle delivery,” Punch suggested.

Jazz smiled as his procreators talked back and forth and made a list. He left them to it and focused on Prowl who remained folded in half in his chair as his fans revved and his intakes wheezed. At least he did not purge. His helm was hot, Jazz realized when he touched his neck. Ratchet might have been half a world away but Simfur had medic’s a plenty. If Prowl had an infection brewing, then they needed to make short work of it. There was no way the mech had a functioning self-repair system. It was a relief when Prowl lifted his helm and stared owlishly at the Polihexians.

“What?” He asked.

“What’re yer favourite colours?” Sprocket repeated. “Mechlings’ gotta have favourite colours. I was guessin’ blue for Smokey but yer sparkling’s a mystery.”

“Red,” Prowl replied. His servo brushed over the chevron on his helm. The red paint was chipped and faded. “He insisted on getting paint to match mine when his colours were done.”

“That’s sweet,” Sprocket smiled.

“Smokescreen likes blue, yes. He like yellow and red. Colour. He likes colour.”

“What ‘bout ya?” Jazz asked. There was something just a little off with Prowl. His expression was pinched and his optics were glassy.

“Red... I suppose. I like whatever they like. Why?”

“Cause we gotta make sure their berthroom’s just how they like it.”

“Mm?” Prowl made a questioning sound. He looked lost and Jazz frowned, as did his procreators.

“Ricochet took his stuff when he moved,” Jazz explained. Wondering how Prowl had missed the entire conversation. “Habsuite’s empty. If we’re gonna get all new scrap we outta get what mechlings’ll like right?”

“Mm?”

“Ori?” Jazz said. “Somethin’s wrong wit’m.”

“Put’m on the ground, I think he’s crashin’,” Punch replied.

Punch’s glyphs rang true. Prowl fell out of the chair as his frame trembled and clattered. His arms and legs contracted violently and with the most hideous squeal. Jazz caught him, falling on his knees next to the chair. As Prowl twitched, arms and legs contracting and released over again, Jazz lowered him down onto his back, and cradled his helm as his spinal struts contracted and released, throwing Prowl’s helm back into Jazz’s servos again and again. It felt like it went on for joors, but it could only have been a few kliks at most. When the spasms finally ended, Prowl’s optics were dark and his frame limp.

“Put’m in our berth,” Punch ordered. “He don’t need to lay on the cold floor.”

“Shouldn’t we get a medic?” Jazz asked.

“He’s got an etchin’,” Punch said, turning Prowl’s arm so Jazz could see the inside of his wrist. Processor Glitch – Crashes. “If he don’t come ‘round in a half joor I get’m a medic.”

Since Childhood, I am watching transformers and looking forward to becoming a transformer one day, Grew up by Reading Transformers Fanfiction Stories and was always amazed by the fictions that used to pop out from such inspiring Fanfiction Lovers. If I Start Giving my Opinions about Transformers Fanfiction Lemon and Transformers Crossover fanfiction, I don't think so that I won't end the topic of Transformers Fanfiction Stories even in 24 hours. Lukas Schimik Agreed ! Don't know why everybody hates it, I think it's still my number 1 TF movie! Optimus new look, Lockdown & Galvatron, KsI (bots), Dinobots, cast ( HATED this Sam & Mikeala ) and the TF/human conflict. Still love it. Miguel GC Gamer Age of Extinction is the only film that entertains that I don't skip any parts of the movie and I like all the characters in this film and the transformers designs are great, dino bots are Awsome. Vincent H well....bad taste is also bad taste at the end of the day. I know you younger kids think that everyone is supposed to have an opinion and everything is subjective blah blah blah but if you're a cinephile than the Transformers are objectively bad films. They are cynical cash grabs made to make money in China. Bay and the producers have said as much. I mean you can like whatever you want. If you wanna listen to Teletubbies soundtrack all day that's your right....but that does mean you have shitty taste. It's okay. Not everyone has good taste. urtpro 2 I'm not hating I'm genuinely curious. I certainly like it more than Last Knight but barely lol. I'm curious the reasons why AOE fans consider it one of the better Transformers movies. I will say it was nice to switch up the protagonist and all that since Sam Witwicky had worn out his welcome by the third film. And the actress who played Wahlberg's daughter was smoking hot, so that was a plus too. Oliver Parker I thought the premise of the world hating and hunting the Transformers(regardless of Faction), cuz of what happened in Chicago(in DOTM), was kool, MW was a refreshing Main Hero over Shia tbh, and Lockdown was Badass! Honestly kinda just laughed off the whole Romeo and Juliette law thing as being just a bad movie joke! I’m mean honestly I know there’s no such law, and as such it didn’t really bother me! Just rather thought it was somewhat silly! Yann Labeille Well Lockdown was a pretty good villain for once in the movies. However Galvatron went nowhere after this. Anthony That isn't true. I saw Bumblebee yesterday and I find it Like watching E.T., the movie is just on Charlie, not really much on Bee. The only g1 part is the first 5 minutes of the movie. Too much 80s references. Sometimes is even boring for me. It Was a cute movie but absolutely not my favourite. I still prefere the first one. Aron T-900 I'd rather get vibes from ET and Iron Giant instead of witnessing stupid humor, unnecessary hot shots, dogs humping each other, unrealistic explosions, parents acting like they belong in a cartoon, patriotism and confusing slo-mo action sequences. Cam Rich I preferred the first and third ones as they have so much more action in them making the films actually entertaining, when most of bumblebee is almost like a compilation of ‘cute’ little clips of bumblebee and that annoying girl taking up almost the entirety of the movie. Max Ramirez Personally prefer the 2007 movie because it's just overall more entertaining to me. Because he was a slave to their functionalist system of control, and he would have remained a slave worker miner if he didn't rise up from the lifestyle forced on him and formed the Decepticon faction... Though it seems to me that if this were the case, Bayformers Megatron would still have become a gladiator before forming the Decepticons...and then eventually he found his way into more of the politics of Cybertron after one day meeting with Optimus Prime (Orion Pax at the time) and then they became brothers/friends. In that sense...it would be similar to how the history of the two were from the show TF Prime. They could still keep the part with the whole Optimus being a knight too, somehow... So in short...Megatron really did not start out as a bad guy at all, it was the way in which he reacted to everything that made him turn out a 'bad guy'. If you like character relationships and a girl and her problems trying to find her way, then you'll like it. If you like transformers actions and interactions, you may not like it as much. Even though the Bay movie didn't focus enough on the transformers, this one did even less The Burden of Bordem I'm a decepticon fan and none of the main decepticons were even given a name in the movie. They were just there to be bad. The Burden of Bordem For me I think this film would have worked much better if they just had Starscream as the main villain, and maybe Barricade hunting bumblebee and give them a more personal relation ship as enemies. But like I said, it end up being a movie about a girl and her relation ship with Bumblebee and enemies getting in their way. bandwon he main character is more fleshed out than the others, Bumblebee I guess is as well, but he can't talk so it isn't by much, the story is standard E.T./Iron Giant, the acting is fine, the directing is probably better than the others, the action is good when it happens, but there is far less than the others, and non of the action reached the peak of the Bay movies. and if it wasn't for the fact there were transformers in it I probably wouldn't have really liked it, but it's enough to get you invested and entertained imo. luke jack You really think anyone's gonna take you serious after you typed "Bumble" Haha the 2007 film and DotM were pretty decent films and satisfying in the end. lisa Speaking as a male, it always annoys me, as a child, that certain plot-line of every terribly written sci-fi (mainly Transformers): "main character is a dick=likable guy" "he has 'relatable' problems, that are only explored in the first 15 minutes of the film" "He start having an abusive/creepy relationship (because that's how well written romance works, right...), with the love interest (they barely explore her name)." But dude, I love what you said about Man of Steel in your DC ranking video. I love that you love Man of Steel. Not many do, and it's seriously awesome! IDW2

I guess nows a good time to make a little "thoughts about" on the second interation of IDW's Transformers comic now that the first 12 issues have been out for a while.

First things first. I get that this is a new world and it has to set up its premise and rules, but oh my goddamn the first 12 issues are nothing but a long long exposition dump. I hate that aspect. It doesnt help that a lot of the dialogue feels like theres little character and is so almost textbook sounding. Everyone turns into a walking wikipedia article and are talking in a way that only english majors would. God, Nautica is the worst offender of this. I had to re-read so much of her dialogue to get what she was actually saying.

And with Nautica comes another gripe I have: cybertronians actively interacting several organic species. Nautica is somewhat of a specialist on organic life and the rest of Sentinel Prime's crew travel the galaxy and interact with organics. Now the concept itself isnt bad. Organic interaction isnt a negative and can lead to big crazy things like TF Vs Visionaries. But in IDW2's case, I feel like it doesnt go anywhere. Now it may be because I might have missed it in the dialogue somewhere, but I dont think there is any real legit stated reason organics live on cybertron and in cybertronian society. I wouldnt mind coexistence where organics work with cybertronians and get help out with use of alt modes, but thats not happening. The aliens just live in separate areas from cybertronians and dont do anything.

My last issue I have is the art. Now I really hate that I dont like the art. I am just not the biggest fan of Hernandez's work. She draws everyone's face so flat and stoic. The intensity of some situations is no way reflected on peoples faces. Speaking of intensity, WOW is it just me or does the panneling of action scenes feel not that great? Its like it lacks that dynamic feel and makes actiony sitiations feel not as important. And this isnt Hernandez's fault, but the color palletes feel so one-toned to me. Everyone feels like they blend together which is probably on purpose, but as someone used to Lost Light and Optimus Prime with their varied pallettes and striking colors respectively, IDW2 feels lackluster in comparison.

Honestly im just glad things are FINALLY starting to get into gear with issue 13. Im super excited for Megatron's involvement with the Rise to be found out and the full blown Autobot vs Decepticon war breaks out. Could the events of issues 1-12 have been condensed? Yeah definitely, but now that we're past that, its gonna get so much better. Bring on Rung, the cassettes, Constructicons, Wreckers, and everything else in store.

Movie Time: Transformers The Last Knight

So I went to see Transformers The Last Knight.......last night....(I made a funny..lol). They set it up and covered there tracks really good for the final battle to take place next movie. But however I am so conflicted. It did not take 5 movies to set this up. The main character inconsistencies, forced romantic situations, plot holes, and extreme pop culture influence slowed this movie down. Most of that filler could have been put in a Netflix series to build up the next movie.

Here are some of my biggest pet peeves of the movie and the Transformer movie verse as a whole.

1. Character Inconsistency

We all know in the series there were different humans in the world who assisted the Autobots in there war for Cybertron. Those heroes were defined in every different series that happened from the 80′s onward. In the movies however its a different story. Here we have a chronological set of 5 movies that’s supposed to tell a story from start to finish. Instead all it does is reboot itself! In the movies however there are some returning constant characters such as Colonel William Lenox and his team Agent Simmons to somewhat tie in the plot but it doesn’t help anything. In the first two movies we have Sam and Mikaela. Humans who stumble upon Transformers and there mission. By the second movie Revenge Of The Fallen it is stated that Sam Witwicky is a “chosen one” to assist the Autobots. Dark of the Moon carried the torch and replaced the female lead with new love interest Carly. I feel it would have been nice to keep Mikaela to keep the fans zoned in to her character growth with Sam. Then 4 happens and we have an all new cast. Cade Yaeger and his daughter Tessa Yaeger. Cade stumbles across Optimus Prime after he went into hiding from the government after the Autobot Registration Act. Government finds Cade and Prime. Now we have Tessa’s boyfriend Shane, and some wierd Steve Jobs looking guy named Joshua Joyce. Next we have our recent movie with Cade once again but without any of the previous characters due to the government hounding him. He is joined up by a little girl named Izabellea, a junkyard owner Jimmy who was commissioned to hide the remaining Autobots/Dinobots, and Vivian who is a descendant to Merlin. Turns out Cade is ALSO a chosen one and so is Vivian!

So....whats going on here. Are there THREE CHOSEN ONES??? If Sam was a chosen one, I feel it would have been better just to let him finish the movie verse. If this is the case Sams arc should have ended with The Last Knight along with the movie series. Age of Extinction could have been skipped entirely. Dark of The Moon could have been the set up for Quintessa and Unicron. Sentinel Prime being the scapegoat for Quintessa instead of Prime. Leading Sam to clearly be the chosen knight and Mikaela to be the descendant of Merlin. Also giving Megatron more of a final boss spotlight by revealing that he was working for Quintessa the whole time and takes over after Quintessa dies in the form of Galvatron and revives Unicron. And if they wanted to make another set of movies we could have still gotten Cade, Tessa, Shane, etc in a more focused 2-3 part movie series about the Dinobots and Autobots including Sound Wave!

Instead now we have a gaping plot hole where we have had one chosen one who disappeared mysteriously and now we have a new one who is a chosen one based on a totally different principle than the first chosen one. The Last Knight tries to duct tape this plot hole by showing a picture of Sam in the Memorial room of Autobots and the people who helped them throughout the years. The 4th and 5th movie looked like reboots and The Last Knight is desperately trying to say HEY TRANSFORMERS 1-3 EXIST GUYS DON’T FORGET!!!!!

2. Misinterpretation of Hot Rod and Missed chance for character development for Shane Dyson

For those of us that want to remember the current Transformers Movies. In Age of Extinction the character Shane Dyson was introduced as Tessa Yaeger’s boyfriend. He was the type of guy that a father would hate to see date his daughter. A rough, brash, alpha male bad boy type. He also was a race car driver which was fitting for him to be driving a Transformer. And who else is brash, arrogant, alpha, and a bad boy.....HOT ROD!!! Hot Rod could have been introduced earlier in Age of Extinction and had more significance to the plot of The Last Knight as well as Shane.

They both had matching personalities. It was fitting. Well according to the animated series they had matching personalities. In this universe Hot Rod is a french speaking veteran who fought with Bumblebee in World War II which is okay. But to totally nullify his persona was a weird move. Cogman acted more like Hot Rod More than Hot Rod himself! I feel Cogman should have had the personality they gave Hot Rod honestly. I believe it was done out of originality to make the movie verse theirs and give it their own signature....but no. Also when Prime left at the end of Age Of Extinction this was the PERFECT time to have Hot Rod take over as leader of the Autobots and proclaim himself as Rodimus Prime! Then in The Last Knight we could have had Nemesis Prime vs Rodimus Prime instead of Bumblebee! It would have been a plot point to show that Shane and Hot Rod need to start being less of an asshole and start fighting for what really matters. Putting there life on the line for those they care about!

3. Forced Relationships and Sexual Pairings

Ever since the bombshell Megan Fox hit the screen to play Mikaela it has been Mikes primary duty to ship the fine female protagonist with the hero in any way he can. Now don’t get me wrong I feel relationships in action movies with other beings is necessary because if shows us that the humans have feelings about whats going on and about each other. But this is too much! It gets to a point where a story segment will be cut and contribute to a forced paring between the hero and the heroine MULTIPLE TIMES! It really starts to waste the film and deteriorate the plot. Not to mention the character consistency problems meaning every other movie they have to constantly re-establish that somebody loves or is sexually attracted to someone. It gets tiring! Establish a love connection and build it!

5. Megatron Playing Backseat Villain

Ok..we are 5 movies in. Can we stop making Megatron sit bitch seat to every other villain in the universe! It was a fine setup after Revenge Of The Fallen. But now its ridiculous. It seems like Megatron rolls in, says a few lines gets slapped in the face and is done with till the next movie. He was outshined by The Fallen, Destructicons, Sentinel, Sound Wave, and Quintessa. I mean seriously in The Last Knight he is given a mission to find Merlin’s staff by TRF. Gets 5 of his Decepticon buddies out of jail just to have them get wrecked in minutes after being introduced. Way to bury the iconic villain of the franchise and make him out to be a joke. I mean I feel if they can’t find something for Megatron to do just cut him out entirely. Otherwise don’t make him cut and run or be easily defeated EVERY FILM. In Age of Extinction and The Last Knight he at least attempted something, but to have the idea dethroned in seconds is bad planning. Also he fact they killed off Star Scream. AT LEAST let him keep his right hand man if your going to keep giving him the “I’ll Get You Gadget” gimmick.

All together this movie and its franchise is fun to watch. There are tons of good moments in the movies as well as laughable moments. But that doesn’t change the fact that you have planks super glued to constant plot holes, excessive romance parings, missed opportunities and mismatching character personalities. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars! I’m waiting for the 6th movie so It can be concluded but after the 6th one...I’m sorry but........
