Here’s my comprehensive crash course to moving to France—be aware that rules can change and requirements are often tweaked so I’ll make sure to link official sites so you can double check in case there have been changes.

A Preface:

I’m not going to sugar coat it for you: French Bureaucracy is like its own circle of hell. There will be days you want to beat your head in—or worse, give up. Don’t let them get to you. It is possible! I have this theory that they make it intentionally confusing to deter people from actually trying—but there are so many people who have done it and you can too. Hopefully this relieves some of that pain for you–at least a little.

Picking your visa

Not all visas are created equal, though many have similar requirements. Here is the official site: https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/web/france-visas/home

First and foremost you will need a Longstay visa. This constitutes a visa that lasts between 6-12 months. Anything shorter than this time is considered a “short stay” and is not renewable. You will have to go back to the USA and start all over once it expires.

—longstay visas are key because you can renew them in France and they are the only ones that will allow you to work (legally).

There are many longstay visas to choose from that offer different perks and drawbacks.

Here is a quick breakdown:

ALL VISAS REQUIREMENTS: All visas will require these things on top of their specific requirements.

-Visa Application Form ( will attach below)

–2 passport ( EU style! photos)

–Valid Passport

–Medical Insurance *for duration of your “visit” ( so if you get a visa for 8 months you will need to buy 8 months of travel medical insurance—you will not need to renew after)

-Complete Itinerary and proof of accommodation: This is a big catch 22 and it's very dumb.

Essentially you must show proof of a roundtrip plane ticket purchase for the duration of your stay. Ex. I want a visa for a year that starts in August. SO, you must have a plane ticket showing your departure in Aug. AND a plane tix back to the US a year later–even if you never plan to get on the return flight.

Ditto with housing but it is less structured. You must have at least 3 months of proof of an accommodation. This can be an airbnb/a friend's house/ a lease/ a hotel/ whatever you want just as long as it equates to at least 3 months of your stay.

Now, I’m sure you are saying to yourself “but Tay, I don’t want to leave France, am I really going to have to pay for a return flight and eat that money?”

No! Please don’t do that! Many airlines now have a 48hr hold for a flight. My recommendation is to buy a ticket only paying the 48hr hold cost (usually around 30 dollars), print that itinerary, then either cancel the whole trip or just the return flight before it charges you. Is this sneaky? Yes. Does it work? Yes and many people do it. You can do the same with housing if you need ( Airbnb has usually free cancellations but you can print your itinerary the minute you get the booking approved).

-Proof of financial means: This needs to be in the form of either personal bank statements, or you may also get a guarantor who can sign a paper attesting they will help you if you need money. Usually you need at least 850 euros per month you plan to stay to fill this requirement but may vary depending on the visa.

Ok, now onto specifics!

-Student Visa: Student Visas are considered the easiest and most effective way to move into the country as it has the most flexibility.

Requirements:

-You must be registered in a government registered school. But beware as some schools are not officially registered and therefore can NOT give you a visa—so if you decide you want to go to business school or language school always ask up front! French Bachelors/Masters/PHD oriented schools are almost always registered but may require separate things.*

*Not 100% like the US, France does have an application for your traditional universities but it is reasonably easier to navigate than the US ( and cheaper!) Be aware though that many fields of study might require a level of french unless you plan to take an international course. International courses are typically taught in English but always check that it is not a “mi-temps” course—meaning it’s only half in France and then half at a US linked university ( so essentially a study abroad).

–Remember you must sign up for 6 months or more. Or else you won’t be offered a long stay visa! If you go to a regular university this is already covered as it is done yearly.Language schools/business schools for example will make you pay a down payment and then you can pay once you get here and at your leisure.

Can you work?

Yes! But only part time. The official site states you can only work 964 hours per year ( aka about 15-20 an hour per week) but this is flexible.

Work Visa:*** For more on just job searching/work in France see “work” section below

Be warned! Work visas are notoriously hard for “entry” visas. To put it in perspective: the job is paying taxes and additional fees each time they hire a foreigner so therefore it is not ideal for them to hire you unless they have a good reason. Also, there are government stipulations in place that require a job to prove that they can ONLY hire you for a job and not a french native, so overall it's a paperwork nightmare. It is usually believed that only high power or extremely niche STEM jobs will offer you a position right out the gate and facilitate your move. ( hence why I am pushing the student visa!)

Requirements:

-You must be offered a Full time CDI* (neverending contract) position to be applicable for the visa. (see below about Job contracts in Work section for more on this)

I will not get into this more as I will cover it later, but the job will have to do lots of paperwork for you.

Can you work?

Of course! But again, FULL TIME AND A NON-ENDING CONTRACT! (I can’t stress this more)

-Visitor or Retirement Visa: This is the classic, “I’m coming here just because” visa.

Requirements:

-You must have proof of funds

Can you work?

NO! This is a visa mostly for retirees/ free travelers. There is a loophole where you can work for another country online (ex. You work online for a US company) but this comes with its own tricky stuff.

*There are more visa options but these are the “big 3” that are the easiest to obtain. The rest get more niche.

I picked what I want to do! Now what?

–Make an appointment with VFS Global https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/fra

This is the third party that the French Embassy pays to process all the visas. I’m going to be honest with you and say it's such a waste of time and money but it is what it is. I put it at the top of this list because the appointments can be far and few in between and also you will have to travel to get there.

The nearest centers to NC are Atlanta and Washington DC. YES you will have to go there in person.

When you go there: they will literally just check that you have all the required documents, nothing else. They DO NOT have any affiliation with France or the embassy so save your breath if you have questions. They don’t have answers. They are just doing the grunt work of verifying all the docs are there before mailing it to the proper avenues.

While you wait for your appointment you should compile your documents Asap! Depending on your situation you will have a couple extra steps.

Student:

–Get paperwork from the school: this is a paper that just says you are enrolled and how long you will be coming. Make sure to tell administration it is for visa purposes ( there will probably be a small fee for this)

–You will need to make an account and “apply” to your school on Campus France (https://www.campusfrance.org/en). This is the official school site for foreigners in France. You will need their stamp of approval to move forward regardless of if the school has accepted you. It usually takes a couple days to a week for them to process your info.

—Once your Campus France application is approved you will have to do a phone interview: This is in English ( yay!) and they will just ask you why you want to come to france etc. etc. It’s basically just to make sure you aren’t a serial killer. Don’t stress about it —it will take 10 minutes tops.

Work: This paperwork is way more extensive than the student one and a lot will be given to you by the employer. Boring things like tax info. I won’t go into it here but will touch on it in the “Work” section.

After you have your paperwork and then turn it in ( in person) to the VFS global office—you wait.

You can pay to have your documents mailed directly back to your home or to the VFS office for free. They will need you to mail your passport with the documents.

When you get it back it will either be a Yes! And have your visa in your passport! Or a No (boo!) and they will give you a short letter explaining why you were declined. Upon a decline you can try to overrule it but it is a whole other process.

Quick Note on Visas

The vast majority of visas will be 8-12 months renewable. This means 3 months before their expiry you will have to renew it and go to the local prefecture to turn in documents/ get the new visa. The main French site to do this is https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr/particuliers/#/

You will get a login for this site the minute you activate your visa when you enter france. They will give you a paper with your visa explaining this.

-If you get a job, after 1 year you can get a multi-annual visa. This will last 5 years.

-After 5 years you can apply for citizenship or get a 10 year multiannual card as long as you are still holding a job and are generally an upstanding French citizen.

–French universities will renew your visa for as long as you go to school–no cap. BUT French Language schools ( like Alliance Francaise) will only give you 2 renewals before you have to find a new means of a visa. So essentially you can go to AF for 3 years non-stop before France will tell you to find something better to do :)

I got my visa! I’m in France!....Now what?

Here’s some extra stuff to help you along the way!

The catch 22 of getting anything in France

Liken moving to a new country to becoming an adult all over again—you get to start from scratch! Unfortunately, to get lots of these things you end up in a vicious circle because you can’t get something without the other. This is no more prevalent than with phone numbers, bank accounts, and housing.

Let me save you the headache. To avoid needing a bank account or address to get a phone number, I suggest https://www.red-by-sfr.fr/. It's not the fanciest of phone lines but it will get you a phone number to get the other things needed on this list.

Bank Account

Quick Easy “Get it now” bank with good conversion

Wise https://wise.com/: It can hold many currencies at once so conversion is super simple and they will give you a debit card that has an IBAN (EU routing number) that can be used for anything you need in France. I hear Revolut does this as well if you wanna shop around.

French Bank

You need an official address and a phone number to get a bank account. Also! Important to note that Americans have a harder time opening bank accounts due to taxation laws in the US. I found that Banque Populaire https://www.banquepopulaire.fr/ was pretty straight forward and usually has an international office where they will speak english well.

Housing

You will need lots of things to rent a proper house in France. At the very least you need a visa for the duration of your lease ( though this will depend landlord to landlord—as everywhere some are created more chill than others).

Where do I find housing?

****PARIS IS IT’S OWN DEMON. I’M SO SORRY AND GODSPEED****

The classic places for French people are https://www.leboncoin.fr/ ( aka French Craigslist) or seloger.fr ( I recommend this one). These are for rentals or buying a house.

I also HIGHLY suggest joining facebook groups. I know FB is outdated for anyone under 50 these days but they are very helpful!

Just use the search bar and find other groups–I promise there is an “Americans in *city name* group” for every part of france and most are very willing to help.

Work!

Assuming you don’t have a job when you move, here are some helpful things to know when finding a job!

��All French jobs are contract based. There is a CDD ( short term, ending contract) or CDI ( as stated above, neverending contract). You can also become an auto-entrepreneur and work for yourself.

TO FIND WORK:

The Pole Emploi is the official job site in France. You can find anything and everything as far as work on it. https://www.francetravail.fr/accueil/

TAY! What are the easiest jobs for Americans to do in France???

TEACH ENGLISH.

I can not stress this enough. Since brexit, all the non-English EU has been hurting for native english speakers to teach in any capacity and (as you can imagine) the vast majority of people want and will pay good money to be taught by a native speaker. If you have no teaching experience, I recommend getting a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate. You can do this easily online at https://www.tefl.org/en-us/?gad_source=1 (This is UK based) Yes, it costs money, but it will be an ‘in’ to any school/daycare/tutoring gig you can imagine.

Au Pair/Nannies: I didn’t mention it earlier because it is a bit niche, but Au Pairs have their own visa! These depend on the contract you make with the host family and each family will have their own set of requirements ( some will want live-in and others no..again its a case by case basis)

This is exactly what you think: you are a childcare worker for presumably a rich family. I know some people who have had incredible luck, others not so much. I recommend the site aupairworld.com which is pretty easy to navigate and will help you and the family maneuver all bureaucracy.

STEM jobs/business/marketing/computer science:

I’m a creative writing major and rare book seller so this is not my wheelhouse BUT if you are someone who fits into these career paths then you should definitely run with it. These are the only jobs that are capable of hiring you from abroad and offering you a visa ( because they have the funds to do so)

SOME GENERAL EXCEPTIONS:

PARIS:

Is Paris a dream or a nightmare? Mostly both. I tell all my US compatriots to liken Paris to moving to NYC or LA—once you get in you’re in, but if you are out of the bubble, get ready to use blood, sweat, and tears to get there.

As you can imagine everything is highly competitive in Paris—from housing to jobs. I will almost guarantee you will not get anything unless already with boots on the ground in Paris. Don’t ever accept an offer with a site unseen as a general rule, but especially with Paris. Scams galore!

If you are dead set on Paris, I recommend being flexible and looking at the “suburbs” (they are still beautiful and a city so don’t let that word fool you.)

Versailles, Neuilly sur Seine, Chatou are just a few of the neighboring towns that get lumped into greater paris and the trains are capable of getting you to. It’s way more affordable out there and while you will have to commute—I mean, it’s Paris so, Don’t complain.

MONACO:

If you are not aware Monaco is it’s own independent country between France and Italy on the Southern Border and is home to the most billionaires in the world (yay?). My experience is that unless you have a MULTI annual visa, Monaco will be a tricky place to look for work. Despite them being practically part of France, they are still their own country and have their own work laws. If you even want to attempt, I’d recommend an Au Pair job as the families there are actually capable of immigrating you on their own dime (again…billionaires..)

OTHER SHIT

Cars

Don’t.

But also if you think you absolutely need one, some states have a reciprocity deal with France and will allow you to switch over your License without needing to take a driving course. You have ONE YEAR to do this before the offer expires.

You have a diploma from the US and want to translate it to a EU diploma

This is still in the process and the govt is currently building a site where you can directly plug in your diploma and it will tell you what it equates to. For a very generic breakdown:

Bachelors= Bac

Masters and PHD are the same.

Bacs are labeled by the amount of years you took the course. So if you did a traditional US bachelors you have a BAC +4. If you did 2 years in a school you have a BAC +2. Note that Business schools and other specialty schools might equate differently and be counted as a “Parcours” or a Certificate—you can always ask.

Finally the big one:

BUT TAY I CAN’T SPEAK FRENCH WHAT DO I DO!

I’ll let you in on a secret: There are loads of people who live in France that don’t speak french ( don’t tell the French)

My advice to you is:

Learn some french! If you haven’t picked it up already, I highly recommend taking French Courses ( you can even get your visa this way!)

Alliance Francaise is the most respected of the French Language schools and I’m not just saying that because all my friends and husband work at one. They are really good and weirdly cost less than if you go to a privatized school. Again, did I mention they can immigrate you into the country? https://af-france.fr/en/ ( there is one in most big cities. I’m in Nice so if you go there I might see you ;) )

–The employment office offers FREE french courses to anyone already holding a visa and looking for work. Seeing as it’s a free govt class you kinda have to just roll with the punches, the hours are weird and the level may vary. But free is free.

2. Expat communities are your friends (no matter what)

–There is nothing that binds you closer to a group of people than having the same culture/language in a foreign country. Use this to your advantage. People who have immigrated already are a treasure trove and will make your life more sane after days of fighting just to order a pain au chocolat correctly. Again, I highly recommend facebook groups for getting in touch with expat communities or just be ready to really put yourself out there! Go to the weird English trivia nights! Go to yoga in the park in English ( even if you hate yoga)! Go hang around universities ( not in a creepy way) because lots of people are usually international. Moving to another country is to destroy your ego.

Again, sorry to plug language schools (I swear my husband's job is not paying me to plug them) but they are a great place to meet people and fellow expats. They are also full of French natives who are patient and willing to a. help you with generic day to day shit b. know how to maneuver the government ( how do you think I know all this?), and c. can actually become your friend.

A final note:

Make a French friend. I know that sounds a bit racist but really, do it. It will be an immense help. There is nothing more indispensable. Trust me. It is the one ring to rule them all because we are an insular culture but when we allow you in we will die for you. <3 This also means you have someone behind you when the govt inevitably decides to be annoying and there is nothing we love more than to get in fights with our government. I know I'm being stereotypical here, but I'm not. Us French love a good fight against the government. We will go up to bat for you ( or at least support you).

The most important takeaway is to be patient in all of these steps. France is a slow country–we like coffee/cigarette breaks, don’t force it. Be kind to yourself and be willing to make mistakes in all facets. I know this is a sappy way to end this document but it’s true. Everything good comes in time….

Devil Timeline : GG and Web before the official meeting.

Disclaimer that this is All CPN and nothing is really proven. As with all these things, feel free to disagree. Don’t crack your head open thinking, we’re all just clowning here. some info on here are taken from different sources and others I added in.

What is this timeline/theory all about?

This CPN is all about them liking each other as early as 2015-2016. This is different from the love at first sight theory from 2017 & with them keeping in touch till they meet again in 2018. Part of this speculation is that they are ex-boyfriends. Also that Web was punished (what for and if this is even true, we don’t know.) by his company in 2016 before hosting Day Day Up. I don’t buy the ex-lovers part/punishment. My take on this Devil Timeline is that they were lowkey fanboying each other or have a crush on e/o. Where they in contact or have they met? Yes. possibly.

Plus, It’s not too outrageous to believe that they know of each other. GG is a koreaboo and he most probably heard of UNIQ. Web on the other hand, most likely heard of XNINE.

So where are they between 2015-2016?

GG joined the reality program x-fire in 2015 and went on to debut with xnine on 2016 as the main vocalist. Notable acting job was superstar academy. Web on the other hand, was busy with UNIQ. Promoting in Korea, China, Thailand, Brazil and Japan. Notable in 2015 was the release of EOEO. In 2016, he joined the cast of Chinese Odyssey part 3 and was also announced as an assistant host for Day Day Up.

What are some key points to this Timeline?

1. Love Mole : It all started with this photo. Web holding a picture he drew of someone smiling and with a Mole. A mole on the same place as GG’s.

Another explanation for this is, he was actually drawing himself. there is a fake rumor that says Web is fixated with GG’s mole because he had one on the same site when he was a kid ; then disappeared over time. It goes on to say that Web jokes that GG stole his mole. (this joking tho was done during CQL shooting).

Recently, you can see in his photos that it’s there again. It’s literally the LOVE MOLE! but yeah, going back -- the delulu interpretation here is he was drawing GG.

2. GG’s dream lover : 2016, On GG’s vlog for Qixi he talks about a “dream lover” and drew it on paper. He goes on to say that he left the face blank as appearance doesn’t matter- It’s about the feeling.

Now onto the drawing of GG, bxg compares the features of the figure to Web.

3. Parallels : Similar posts from 2015-2016. There is not too much out there and we can’t really verify cause of GG’s weibo post restrictions. I can’t find ones aside from the example below cause most of the same posts that we have screenshots of are from 2017 onwards.

On 6/2015, Web posted a picture of himself visiting a spongebob exhibit. On 2/2016, GG shared a picture from his visit of the same place with his friends. It’s too far apart if you ask me and so many people love spongebob, so this could really be a coincidence and not them cueing each other.

4. How long have they really known each other? : The Usually reserved Web was so open with GG during that 2017 TTXS episode. Remember that Web only started being an assistant host on 2016 and is usually very shy. But he interacted with GG in the simplest way by imitating his gesture. Tho the TTXS bros were the first ones who did it, he went ahead and did the pose too. His smile was also teasing.

Compare this with their CQL interviews and GG recalling what he said to his bandmate who was scared that it’s Web who he’s gonna battle with.

I don’t think he said that because he doesn’t know who Web is. Again, it’s too familiar. Like, don’t worry it’s just Web, I know him, he’s good, he won’t kill you. In this interview he proceeds to say that he has faith in his bandmate but after watching Web dance, he knew they could not win.

Also add Web’s reaction in this interview, trying to wave GG off when he kept on saying he knew of Web for a long time already.

GG, you just met in 2017, why are you saying you’ve known him for a very long time? “know of” is such a broad term. It can be you know them personally or because Web has been a celebrity longer , that’s why he knew of him. we are betting it’s the latter.

So if that’s what we’re thinking, then why did he say that he knew they couldn’t win AFTER seeing Web dance. If you’ve been a fan and KNOW who wang yibo is- the first thing you will find is that he is an EXCELLENT DANCER. It doesn’t match up. Unless, It’s really GG who first followed Web’s career?

I can go on and on about things these two have lied about from eggplants to carrots and that waterfall scene. They have a say on what narrative they want to put out in this interviews, whether they honestly forgot things or are actively refusing to give information. It’s up to them what they wanna say.

5. Love clues from 2015-2016 :

Web’s ideal type : Suzy from Miss A (which was i guess everyone’s ideal girl in the KPOP world during that time) and Taeyeon from SNSD. I know there are parallels of how Suzy and GG look alike and how Taeyeon is kinda like GG. They are both vocalists and are older than Web.

GG’s ideal type : He said he wants someone who is gentle but can still stand on their own. Also someone with personality. Plus, he doesn’t care if his other half can’t cook because he will do it. When asked what he will do if him and his friend like the same person, he says if he really likes the person then he will fight for it.

6. The first table read : This is a new entry based on the BTS released last night. We only had snippets of this when they were joking around but this new video shows more. GG just naturally turns to Web and like he’s done it before. There is still some shyness when they were talking about pants but it doesn’t look like two people who have only interacted today. Especially Web’s demeanor, there is a time or two that he hesitates when joking, but that could be because he is testing the waters.

There was Absolutely no barriers (from GG) in tapping Web’s back a couple of times. If I’m a stranger just watching this, I’ll tell you these two have known each other for quite some time. Not just from that 2017 meeting and beyond.

7. A 2016 drawing - Over the years, we have learned that GG, like many artists put clues in their drawings. with things up to interpretation, as most of the time, he does not explain things outright. One BXG pointed out this drawing he made of a heart + bunny + cat. the Bunny is obviously him, so, love with a cat? Plus the look of the cat, like it’s looking at an innocent bunny. I know power dynamics between the two is a complicated topic, BUT----

8. WILDCARD: I know this is a popular fake rumor out there but we don’t really have evidence. No picture and I don’t have a screenshot of a fan account. It says GG went to a Uniq fanmeet on 6/22 in Guangzhou cause he wants to research about idols. This is before he went on xfire. The date 6/22 matches with the 622 coincidence. Consider this as fanfic but this lives in my mind.

It’s been 70 years since the beginning of the Korean War. For young adults in their twenties today, that’s ancient history. It is as distant to them as the 1905 Russo-Japanese War was to me when I was 20 years old! But in both China and North Korea, the memory of the Korean War and charges of war crimes against America from that war remain a vivid part of the national consciousness, stoked at various times by the regimes in charge.

The North Korean and Chinese allegations of American use of biological weapons during the Korean War made headlines at the time, and the controversy over U.S. Air Force officers admitting under enemy interrogation details of germ warfare attacks rocked the U.S. defense establishment. In 1998, scholars connected to the Cold War International History Project (CWIHP) at the Wilson Center published documents that they claimed showed the germ warfare charges were a hoax, “a grand piece of political theater,” as Milton Leitenberg, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International and Security Studies at the University of Maryland, [notably put it][3].

But in 2010, the CIA declassified hundreds of communications intelligence, or COMINT, daily reports from the Korean War. U.S. historians have mostly ignored this release. Over the past few years, I have undertaken an examination of these documents and found more than two dozen that were pertinent to the biological warfare charges. As I demonstrated in a [September 2020 essay][6] on the topic at Medium.com, these [documents][7] vividly portray the reactions and responses of North Korean and Chinese military units responding to biological weapons attack.

What follows are some samples from the entire batch of reports. The grammar and syntax can seem off at times, as the U.S. military and CIA lacked experienced linguists during this period.

Relying on information from the codebreakers at the Armed Forces Security Agency, the predecessor of today’s National Security Agency, a top-secret March 6 CIA report read, “An unidentified Chinese Communist unit on 26 February reported that ‘yesterday it was discovered that in our bivouac area there was a real flood of bacteria and germs from a plane by the enemy. Please supply us immediately with an issue of DDT that we may combat this menace, stop the spread of this plague, and eliminate all bacteria.’”

Another CIA report stated that on 3 March a “North Korean coastal security unit in eastern Korea reported… that UN bacteriological warfare agents in the surrounding area had prevented the movement of transportation since 21 February. Later in the day the unit reported to Pyongyang that ‘Pupyong (just southwest of Hamhung)… is the contaminated area. According to the correct news, no one can pass through it. If you do not act quickly, the 12th and 13th guard stations will have fallen into starvation conditions.’” [Parenthesis in original]

Then we have the following from a 6 March report: “Two coastal security stations in northeastern Korea reported on 11 March that ‘the bacteria bomb classified as mosquito, fly, and flea were dispersed,’ and ‘an enemy plane dropped ants, fleas, mosquitos, flies and crickets.’” The emphasis on insects reminds us that the Communists alleged at the time that the U.S. was working secretly with the former scientists of Japan’s Unit 731, who experimented extensively with the use of insect vectors in germ warfare. During this period and for years afterward, the [U.S. falsely denied][8] that Japan’s scientists had committed war crimes and attacked China with biological weapons during World War II.

According to a 21 March CIA COMINT report, “a North Korean message, probably from the 23rd Brigade in western Korea, reports the alleged dropping of bacteria in the area occupied by the ‘18th Regiment, 4th Division.’”

A 9 May report: ‘They dropped spiders and ants over Songjin city… today,’ a North Korean coastal security station in northeastern Korea reported…. The message continues that the alleged drop area has been isolated and is being investigated by ‘the plague prevention work committee.’”

Not all the reports verified the use of bacterial weapons. In a 25 March intercept from a North Korean battalion in the Hamhung area, a North Korean military sanitation officer, sent to affirm a supposed biological warfare attack “reported that the policeman’s report was false and that the flies ‘were not caused from bacterial weapon but from the fertilizers on the place.’” In other words, not only were the attacks not a hoax, but Communist officials examined such reports from the field on the spot and noted cases where the accusations were mistaken, or found in some cases that no insects carried infectious material.

As Milton Leitenberg stated in a [2016 essay][9], which otherwise maintained the germ war allegations were untrue, the charges themselves remain 70 years after the fact “an issue of great importance to those concerned with arms control and allegations of the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction.” He was right. This alleged war crime is of high importance, and achieving peace with nuclear-armed China and North Korea depends, in part, on being honest about past transgressions of the United States against those countries.

Both the alleged Soviet documents presented back in 1998 by Mr. Leitenberg and scholar Kathryn Weathersby, and also a later purported memoir by Chinese doctor Wu Zhili, which also [alleged falsification][10] of the BW evidence, cannot withstand the failure of those documents, whose provenance has always been obscure, to withstand independent corroboration by external sources of information, not least, from the CIA COMINT documents themselves.

The Leitenberg/Weathersby documents allege that Communist in-fighting over the BW “hoax” led to a cessation of Communist charges of germ warfare by early 1953. But that’s not true. The charges continued throughout 1953 (as this [_New York Times_][11]article described) and for long afterward. Even more telling, the CWIHP documents failed to tell a coherent story, moving around the date of the alleged falsification of BW attack sites from _before_ to then _after_ an international team of investigators arrived to examine the charges. The date is crucial because the time to organize a large-scale deception — one that would involve hundreds of eyewitness reports given to investigators, the collection of bomb fragments, the testing materials and samples from alleged bacterial attack, etc. — would take some time, if it could be successfully done at all.

There were other problems with the CWIHP documents, which only document from two to four sites of simulated biowarfare attack. But two investigation commissions documented dozens of sites of infection following U.S. air drops of contaminated insects, feathers, and other materials. Neither Mr. Leitenberg nor Ms. Weathersby has ever explained that issue, except to surmise that there may be documents that have yet to surface. In any case, the old fraud accusations seem moot now that we have evidence of Communist military units during the Korean War responding privately to each other regarding the vicissitudes of biological weapons attack.

Wherever the long denials of U.S. use of biological weapons during the Korean War may have originated, and no matter what the authority behind them, the denials fade away in the face of new unassailable documentation from U.S. government records of germ warfare attacks against North Korean and Chinese military units. The question now is how will U.S. historians, political scientists, the press, and the public respond to this turnabout regarding the old germ war charges.

The U.S. record regarding the acknowledgment of atrocities during the Korean War is poor. In January 2001, President Clinton did issue a statement expressing “regret” for American killings in July 1950 of hundreds of unarmed South Korean civilians at No Gun Ri. As the _New York Times_ [noted at the time][13], Clinton’s “statement fell short of the apology many Koreans have demanded.”

It is time for a reckoning with our past. If we expect change in China and North Korea, then there must be change in the United States. Author Nicolson Baker has recently called for the declassification of all records from the Korean War. Perhaps a President Joe Biden administration will consider revising a policy that has not worked for decades, and as part of a general peace offensive in the region, finally admit American responsibility for its actions, including use of biological weapons. With such an admission, the U.S. could then call for a turning of the page and a new day of openness and peaceful coexistence in East Asia.

My main is DruidX, which has been my handle on nearly every single platform ever since.... well, since the World Wide Web became a feasible thing to have in one’s home ^.^; Because this is the blog to which all other random interesting things are thrown, I thought I’d keep in theme with “Dru reblogs stuff”, for I am Dru... and I am reblogging stuff XD

2. Any sideblogs? If you have them name them and why you have them?

Technically @/dru-reblogs-stuff is a sideblog already. It gets more personal stuff, and also everything I like that’s interesting to me. I keep thinking I should narrow it down further though, and make seperate fashion & star wars blogs, because I rb that stuff on the regular...

@/druidx is my main, and is my Writeblr blog, for, well, all my writing, other people’s writing, and writing related advice/ resources.

@/dru-plays-starbound is the blog I used to rb Starbound stuff, and also post my starbound builds to. I haven’t updated it in a while, thought there’s lots of stuff still to post... I just haven’t had the inclination to fight with a graphics program and screenshots.

@/nine-blessed-hero breaks my naming scheme sadly, but this is now my dedicated Elder Scrolls blog, for art and fanfic. It’s also not as well kept as I would like it to be (I’ve got 600 items in draft to read though and comment on, so it’s slow going).

Finally there is the essentially abandoned @/things-my-rm-says-to-her-lego. This started as an out-of-context quote blog for things my roommate muttered while sorting/ building the old Lego her parents dropped off ~October 2020. I have no idea what to do with it now said roommate is no longer saying strange things to her Lego...

I’ve just passed my one year anniversary, 18 May -- or at least, the anniversary of my first post which I’m sure was made only a week or so after I joined. Basically I joined up not long after the Lockdown was made official in the UK.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

Yes! It’s just “q”, because I am both lazy and basic.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

As mentioned above, I joined not long after the Lockdown was made official in the UK. Because I had more time, I was looking back at old works and wanting both to share them and to get advice on how to get better. I’d heard somewhere that Tumblr was to writing as DeviantArt is to art, so I figured I may as well join and see what I could get out of the experience. Again, because I suddenly had more time, I bought TESIV: Oblivion on Steam and started to get into TESblr as well as Writeblr (which incidentally, is how I met the wonderful Corky ^.^).

6. Why did you choose your icon?

I wanted something that reflected my interests (boy do I love Tea :D), but also wasn’t fussy, so I found a site filled with free SVG icons and picked this one out. I’ve had a lot of complements on it, so clearly it was a good choice ^.^ I’ve tried to keep the theme of teapots over all my blogs.

7. Why did you choose your header?

I don’t think any of my blogs have a header because I just couldn’t find anything I liked?

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

Across them all, it’s a “Last Line Tag” game one, posted Sep 22 2020 with 328 notes.

I feel that’s somewhat defeating the point of not having them public. Let’s just say I have enough.

181; just enough to keep things interesting, but not enough to be overwhelmed.

No; the most I’ve done would have been an incorrect quote.

I’m currently working from home, so it’s a permanent fixture on one of my background virtual desktops, ready to be flipped over to when work is dull or when I’m procrastinating writing.

I think someone tried to insinuate I’d offended them once, but they hid in the tags and I could never work out if it was my tags they were arguing against, or the post in general (it was a rb). But generally no; I’m Internet Old and just done with the Drama so I don’t engage.

15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

They can jog on. If I think it’s important, then I will chose to rb it, but telling me I’m a horrible person if I don’t? That’s a surefire way to ensure I dislike you and your cause, and will ignore you out of spite.

im-a-seraph-winging-it, rewrit, adelinewriting (though she’s no longer on Tumblr) maybe? idk ^.^; I guess not knowing is one of the nicer things about Tumblr; it makes everything a little more personal.

Yes. I’m not saying who (it’s sort of embarrassing to be the age I am and have a crush), but they have a unique and exquisite writing style, and I care for it very much.

Ep 201: The Disappearance of Frederick Valentich Part 3

– Don Cox, who observed a triangle-shaped UFO for 45 minutes from his yard in Adelaide, 385 miles northwest of Valentich’s last known location, just 28 minutes after his radio fell silent.

As we wrap up our coverage of the Frederick Valentich story in Part 3 of our series, we'll continue our conversation with Melbourne resident Chris Tyler about his research into the case and other possibly related UFO incidents around the same time and area. We'll also examine the Australian Department of Transport accident report's remaining findings and discuss its conclusions. As you begin to reach your own conclusions, it's essential to keep several factors in mind which make the usual mundane explanations seem inadequate. The high number of independent sightings of aerial phenomena occurring in proximity to the disappearance suggests Valentich wasn't alone in witnessing it. The distance a Cessna cowling was found from a potential crash site and the lack of definitive markings makes its discovery inconclusive. Even if the cowling did come from Valentich's plane, it still doesn't account for what caused him to ditch, let alone other missing debris and Valentich himself. Perhaps the most surprising revelation comes from the summary of the report itself. Rather than dismissing the possibility of a UFO entanglement, an official government statement lists it as one of four likeliest scenarios. Remember that Valentich himself never suggested he interacted with a UFO in his last transmission, despite being painted as obsessed with them by his skeptics. When these factors and more are taken together, it's no wonder this incident is one of the most baffling and tragic in the phenomenon's history and leaves us all to wonder, what happened to Frederick Valentich and where did he go?

While they only officially started dating during the Sixth year, their relationship started in the Fourth year.

During the Celestial ball, Lilian noticed that Merula didn’t have anyone to dance with and offered to dance with her. After the Celestial Ball, Merula’s Attitude softened to a degree. While Lilian was still being teased about how tall she was, she was no longer harassed for being a muggle, nor was she mocked for her passions. While Merula wouldn’t outright ask for help from Lilian, She would never deny Lilian helping her.

Generally the attitude of the two was always Lilian genuinely trying to learn about Merula while Merula made an effort to understand Lilian and where she was from. Eventually Mistrust and Resentment would make way to curiosity and intrigue.

Only when Lilian had saved Merula’s life from Dementors had she finally figured out her mixed feelings for Lilian, realizing that she had fallen in love with the quiet muggle born witch, eccentricities and all.

~BACKGROUND/HISTORY~

[The following is an excerpt from the book The Craftswoman, a biography on the Life and Philosophies of Lilian Le’Reau]

Interviewer: What do you know of Mrs. Le’Reau? Headmistress Rowan Hubei Khanna: Lilian? Wow, where do I begin… She was always quiet. It was almost as if she were watching everything that happened for the sake of safety and precautions. Like she was always expecting the worst to happen to her no matter what. But given her history I wouldn’t put it past her.

I: Could you please elaborate on that? Headmistress Khanna: Well, I suppose so. When Lilian was around the age of five, she and her mother were attacked by a rogue Death Eater, one of the remnants of the first wizarding war. A lot of people died that day, several more had to have their memory erased.

I: With the Memory Erasing Charm, yes. The report of ‘The Market Massacre’ were in the papers for weeks after the incident, if I recall. Headmistress Khanna: Right. Well, This death eater had a particular goal in mind. I was told that he kept on rambling about how he was gonna make new army, one to combat the remnants of the Order of Phoenix. He had planned on kidnapping Children with magical talent in order to build this order.

I: Fortunately, the Auror Shamus McKinley was nearby to save her. He not only saved her, but dispatched the dark wizard as well, yes? Headmistress Khanna: While this is true, it still had its ramifications. No one goes through that sort of experience the same. Lilian didn’t like to talk about where she came from or about her childhood.

I: Well, how about her years alongside you at Hogwarts? How would you describe that? Headmistress Khana: Our time at Hogwarts was actually rather mundane compared to the adventures of our other classmates. Lilian and I were generally the part of the plan that collected information and helped solve the riddles of the vaults, rather than actually fighting any of the curses there. Otherwise, much of her time was spent studying, trying to figure out new ways to apply spells and context of said spells, and honing her own personal abilities. Like I said, a rather average Hogwarts tenure for the both of us.

I: Alright. How about during the battle of Hogwarts? Or perhaps anything during then and your graduation of Hogwarts? Headmistress Khanna: The time before the battle of Hogwarts, I can't testify for. For a while, most of us fell out of contact as we moved on with our lives, trying to make a name for ourselves in our own fields. But…

I: It’s okay if you would like to avoid this subject. Headmistress Khanna: No no, it needs to be said. During the battle of Hogwarts, a lot of us were scared. None of us had been in this sort of conflict before, and those of us that had weren't ready for what we faced. Yet there Lilian was, setting up perimeters and directing people to the best suited jobs to help defend. She even brought in nearly a dozen golems to assist in the defense. We were lucky too, since those were the only things stopping the main host of trolls from climbing up the bridge. The battle itself is a blur, but when the dust settled, we all saw Lilian slumped against a wall, babbling on about equations and how many litres of blood she felt she had lost. She was missing her arm and leg, surrounded by a dozen or so dark wizards.

I: Thank you, Headmistress. I think that’ll be all for now. Headmistress Khanna: I appreciate the need to document Lilian’s life. She’d be too busy to actually sit down and write it herself, believe it or not.

~PERSONALITY~

Lilian is a very open minded individual. Creative and Intelligent, She will always see projects through to the end, even if she already knows that the result will be failure. Despite the innumerable amount of failures that she’s had, Lilian always finds a way to take joy from any situation. While she mainly focuses on her work, she is a rather quiet and shy woman despite her imposing stature and very apparent abilities. She doesn’t like to brag, nor is she prone to any outwardly negative emotions.

She does have several flaws though, first and foremost being her inability to cope with overly strong negative stimuli as well as a tendency to hyper fixate on a project at hand, often forgetting to eat and rest until her body physically forces her to sustain itself. (most common being her collapsing from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.)

While not typically a fighter, Lilian has mastered the Patronus charm to astonishing success, manifesting three or more Wolf patroni with one casting.

While she is missing her left arm and right leg from the joints down, Lilian has since made prosthetic arms that are not only nearly identical to the previous limbs, they are far stronger than steel and well crafted enough to fool Muggles unless they closely inspect the hand in question.

Lilian married Merula nearly a year after the Battle of Hogwarts

In order to maintain hold of her tools while working and simultaneously casting spells, Lilian has mastered both the art of wandless and silent spellcasting.

Lilian owns a machine shop in London, making both Muggle and Magical items for multiple clients. She is allowed to do this through the employment of Squibs. This also allows her to take Auror Interns, teaching them how muggle technology works.

Lilian attempts to pioneer Golemancy, even attempting to have it recognized as an official practice of magic.

After Much convincing and reassuring, Lilian managed to get Merula to move to the Muggle world. Even then, this was only after several charms had been cast to help hide their magical nature from Ordinary Muggles. (Merula is particularly keen on cell phones.)

After several letters, Lilian agrees to teach several Magic Theory classes at Beauxbatons, much to the joy of several students and faculty. Lilian even demonstrates the magic and technology behind her prosthetics, inspiring the next generation of magic craftsmen and women.

Oof 2020 recap.

I stepped down from my job in... End of Jan? Early Feb? with the intention of 1. getting away from a crazy employee I was not being paid enough to deal with and was not allowed to fire, 2. Finally had enough savings that I wasn’t a constant ball of insecurity, and I could take 9 months off with no income before I’d start worrying, and 9 months felt like a good time frame to try and be self employed and sell crafts/plushies at conventions.

Because why wouldn’t there be a bunch of conventions to sell things at in 2020???

Not working 50 hour weeks was also supposed to give me time to plan August wedding, and make wedding dress.

March, start sending out wedding invites. Two weeks later, Cuomo shuts down the entire state. *~*Timing~*~

Send out “woops hold that thought” cards.

The fiance had to transition to teaching his classes over zoom, and making youtube videos, which ends up being a 12-hour, 7-day a week time commitment. On the plus there, that was a huge crash course in video editing he finally had a reason to learn. And serendipitously, me had his brother had gotten him a bunch of camera and recording equipment to bully him into doing movie reviews on youtube, so he actually had the stuff he needed to teach online effectively. He takes over half of my craft room immediately after I reorganized and spread things out to make sewing more efficient and organized. Sewing stuff gets re-squished back into the corner. :<

April, i sew so many masks. so so many. i do not like sew mask. ;~;

Etsy sticks more fees on their site! I make a website! Web design has changed a fuckton since ye olden dayes of neopet pet pages! I have no idea what I’m doing; can’t even add a glitter trail following the cursor around! Where is the option for autoplay music in the background! Lame!

Mid June, and no end in sight for, ...y’know, so we cancel August wedding and push our deposit back to 2021. Fiance was really bummed about not getting the specific date so like a week later the venue says we can still show up with a small group and get “official married” outside on the day. I’m not gung-ho for this at all, but James is, so we decide to do that; start scrambling. I make my dress but like. From what was supposed to be the first drape fabric, because fabric store’s still closed. I like it, but idk!

I didn’t think I actually cared super much about wedding details, like I didn’t have a “dream wedding” as a kid or have a moodboard or anything... All I was really hoping for was having family there since I only get to see all the cousins maybe once every 7-10 years, and making my own dress. Since big family gather was obviously not allowed, not even being able to make my dress in the way I saw it in my head was just kinda... disgruntling? I guess? Sad emotions I can’t really put to words, and not strong enough to overrule fiance having strong happy emotions about getting to keep our original wedding date.

New York gathering limit is raised to 25, so my family (6) and his (2) plus us and officiant (3) all get together and yay, officially married on August 1st! Until we get paperwork from NY state, and ha ha funny story, officiant signed the paperwork for August 2. Officiant apologizes, sends in a correction letter, so now we’re officially married on the 2nd, but have a footnote in state records that says *(actually it was Aug. 1).

So like, I’m happy we got married, that’s a happy part of the day, but 1. family wasn’t there, 2. didn’t get to make the dress I was hoping to, 3. we didn’t even get the fucking date we did all this for??? It’s a complicated mix of emotions and I’m finding myself just kinda ignoring the fact we actually got married instead of trying to grapple and force the positive feelings to outweigh the negative. SHRUG EMOJI HAHA. DEALING WITH OUR FEELINGS? SOUNDS SUS.

September, my former job reopens, asks if I want to come back, because the person I trained as my replacement ended up quitting because she didn’t want to come back. Neither do I.

October, they hire a new manager, and I end up going in to train her a few days, and cover for her a few more days, and now I’m on call to help out, because I am a big wimpy pushover and did actually really like my job, and like the new lady taking over and don’t want things to be hard for her.

November, I got glasses! I have discovered that the world should NOT be blurry when it is 10 feet away from you.

I know I struggle without a defined definite schedule and my brain latches on to any possible distraction, so this year has been heck. Mental health-wise, I’m doing much better now that I’m not in daily contact with chaos employee! But productivity and focus-wise? ZIP ZILCH ZERO. It has been a STRUGGLE. I don’t have a distraction free zone because of James doing work-from-home teaching, and I don’t have a defined schedule of social events and work shifts to keep me on task. I kinda feel like my brain has turned into a bunch of smokey fog that’s just kinda swirling around inside my head, and every once in a while I emerge and realize a week has passed and I have not checked my email or talked to another non-husband human being in that time.

Oh, and small schadenfreude update on chaos employee- she didn’t have a job until the state reopened, wasn’t eligible for unemployment during the shutdown apparently, her husband finally got the divorce he’s been pushing for for the past decade, and she had to sell her 5k$ sewing machine to be able to make the monthly payments on it. And when she came in to the store once it reopened, new manager had already been warned that she was banned from the premises.

But before she was chased out, she rambled on about how she thought the government was tracking her phone so she got a new one and didn’t back up any of her contacts, and she was hoping new manager would give her my number again because we’re “””best friends.””””””” Manager declined to assist.

4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you? Quiet and a good student. I was/am good at memorizing, so I could pick up things quickly, and I didn’t talk a lot due to shyness + a speech impediment.

13. lanyard or key ring? Key ring. I had literal dozens in high school, most of them on a backpack rather than my keys, but even now I have a few key chains on my key rings.

15. favorite book you read as a school assignment? All Quiet on the Western Front. It was the only one I remember that was assigned that actually moved and interested me and that I actually reread periodically to this day.

24. favorite crystal? Ooo, that’s tough, because I like a lot, but amethyst is probably my favorite.

30. places that you find sacred? Green spaces. There was an outdoor chapel in a Y camp I went to as a kid that they called the Green Cathedral, due to the tall trees, and that was one of my first meaningful religious experiences. (I’ve been in a few lovely churches too, where it’s clear the builders really cared about expressing their love for their spirituality, and those are beautiful and sacred too.)

36. what is the first meme you remember ever seeing? While memes certainly existed before the internet (as did I, I grew up without it because it didn’t exist yet), the first I really remember seeing was Cheezburger Cat, “I can haz cheesburger?”

40. weirdest thing to ever happen at your school? We once had a fire at my high school, started in the woodshop, by a guy who threw an illegal cigarette (he was underage to smoke and smoking wasn’t allowed on school grounds) into a garbage can full of sawdust... on Stamp Out Smoking Day. Which I recall was during cold weather and the school officials didn’t allow us to have our jackets in class, nor let us get our jackets, so we all huddled outside and froze for a long while before they let us go inside (it still stank of smoke everywhere) to get our stuff before letting the whole school go home.

43. hoodie, leather jacket, cardigan, jean jacket or bomber jacket? Hoodie. If you’re going to have casual outerwear it might as well have a head covering attached so I don’t have one more thing to juggle.

51. current stresses? Other than the pandemic, political and social inequality, and climate catastrophe? Idiots at work, lack of motivation to get writing done, upswing in my depression symptoms due to the pandemic et al, and possibly a dose of anxiety to top it off.

57. the three biggest struggles you’ve overcome? My suicidal college depression (still ongoing, but has been more manageable), being able to find and keep a job after being fired from one I had spent nearly ten years working towards, and finding and maintaining friendships once away from school.

64. favorite website from your childhood? Again I grew up pre-internet so I didn’t start surfing the web until I was nearly 12, and the internet was still pretty new to all and sundry. The I Can Has Cheezburger site had the funny memes of the day, so I’ll go with that.

73. favorite weird flavor combo? When the parents would take us to a buffet, I and my sister were allowed to get what we wanted. We had to get salad first, though, and as I wasn’t a fan of lettuce or a lot of salad vegetables, I would make what I call “cheese salad” (in the best American Midwest/South tradition). It was a combination of cottage cheese, cheese shreds, pepperoni or bacon pieces, hot cheese sauce, and ranch dressing. Yum! (I still make a version of this for when I need tasty food in a hurry and can’t be arsed to prepare anything else.)

78. coffee from a gas station or sushi from a grocery store? I don’t like coffee at all, and have never had sushi. But as I understand that the quality of fish and preparation really matters in sushi, I am supposing that a specialist sushi restaurant would give a far better experience. Whereas coffee can be drunk for pleasure, but when sufficiently doctored just works for the caffeine boost. So I’d rather have bad coffee that I can doctor, rather than bad raw fish that can only be doctored so much.

80. earth tones or jewel tones? Jewel Tones. If I could get away with it, I’d decorate my whole house and body with jewel tones.

83. writing or drawing? Writing. My ability to describe something in words far surpasses my ability to recreate it with drawing.

92. lamps, overhead lights, sunlight or fairy lights? For pure ambiance in a room? At night, lamps. By day, sunlight. For a magical feel or to uplift myself? Fairy lights. To find whatever the heck it is I just dropped? Overhead lights.

IDOLiSH7 Content Usage Guidelines (EN translation, for reference only)

I am translating the full guidelines posted by the IDOLiSH7 management team on March 23, 2020, as a reference for all English-speaking fans.

As it is noted below, the translation is only for reference. In the case of disputes or claims, the original guidelines on the official site in Japanese will be followed. This is an unofficial translation and cannot be used as support for any violation.

IDOLiSH7 Contents Usage Guidelines

We hope you are enjoying all the contents, services, and goods that are being created as the IDOLiSH7 project continues to grow.

As the project grows, there have been times when social media activites have been difficult for us to deal with, as outlined in Producer Letter #2, and we also outlined our wishes and the stance of this project with regard to fan-created content in Producer Letter #3. It is possible that there are misunderstandings with fans who have unintentionally went against our stance.

At this time, with our gained experience in operating this project, we would like to revisit our stance.

There won't be especially large changes in our stance, but we hope that you can read through this guideline and continue to enjoy the project with social media and fan-created content.

Definitions

By offering these guidelines, we hope to define our stance regarding the following:

(* The following definitions are limited to these guidelines with regard to this project only.)

Official created content: All copyrighted works, including image data, scenarios, and music, produced and announced by the IDOLiSH7 project.

Fan-created content: Activities or creative work, as "fan activities," that expresses the fan's own thoughts or emotions using knowledge or experience obtained from IDOLiSH7.

Official and licensed products: Products sold from the project; products that have been formally contracted with the project and licensed for commercialization.

Based on the above definitions, the act of using created content (logo, scenario, image, video, audio, music, etc.) by copying, scanning, sampling, tracing, etc., considered to be the secondary use of officially created content, is prohibited.

--------- However, some materials can be enjoyed only for private use. The scope of private use will be described below.

* Examples of prohibited secondary use of officially created content/products

Using the official logo on fan-created content.

Producing self-made goods with the illustration from the official created content as it is, and distributing or selling in large numbers.

Officially created content is edited (processed) and redistributed publicly on social media or other platforms as wallpapers or other images used on social media.

(1) About images

As long as the official created content used is not excessively edited (processed), there is no problem if the images are posted for private use on web blogs and social media.

However, please be careful to not reveal excessive spoilers of scenario and to not damage or cause misunderstandings about the image (reputation) of IDOLiSH7 as a result of such posting.

Use of officially created content beyond the scope of private use or with excessive image processing (edits) are prohibited.

Republication of any kind (for profit or not) of edited (processed) images is prohibited.

With regard to the management of images that are related to the project that are uploaded by Arina Tanemura-sensei on Twitter, we will conform to what is announced on the official Twitter account of Arina Tanemura-sensei.

* The following is a guide for what is considered "private use."

Set as a wallpaper for smartphones or tablets

Use as icons for private messaging apps, such as LINE.

Post screen shots of audition results, winning members, and scenes from the Rabbit Hole on SNS such as Twitter.

Post your own photos of goods and promotional advertisements on social media, such as Twitter

* Please refrain from using officially created content for icons and headers, such as on Twitter and Facebook, as this may cause misunderstandings if your account is an official account or not.

* We officially prepare images that can be used as icons, so please feel free to use the officially prepared icons.

(2) About the scenario (game story)

Main story

Including livestreams, we will completely lift the ban on spoilers for Parts 1-3 of the story.

However, please refrain from posting / distributing in a way that allows other people to publicly read the scenario itself, such as distributing the scenario by transcription or screen recording.

Excessive spoilers (such as images and videos including full scenarios) of Part 4 and event stories are prohibited.

However, within the following scope, you may post your impressions of RabiChats and RabiTV to social media platforms.

In that case, please be considerate of the characteristics of RabiChats and RabiTVs and also to those who have not read it.

The number of screenshots (or images) must be within the following number, on the premise that the purpose of transmission is to convey your impressions.

RabiChat: Up to 4 screenshots in normal screen view (half-screen) or 1 screenshot in full screen view

RabiTV: Up to 4 pictures in normal screen display, but not in log display

* Even if the number of screenshots is less than the specified number, posts that allow the scenario's content to be completely understood (major spoiler) is prohibited.

The handling of the music copyright for IDOLiSH7 songs (lyrics, compositions, etc.), their recordings (music recordings including on CDs), and creative activities (specifically, musical arrangement, making AMV compilation movies, performances, etc.) vary depending on the content.

Please follow the rules of JASRAC, regarding the use of music.

*Music for this project is entrusted to JASRAC.

If you want to upload the video of the song, such as dance and song covers (including 「踊ってみた」, odottemita, and「歌ってみた」, uttemita ), please use the proper services to get the rights from JASRAC.

From November 12, 2015, we announced our basic stance on fan-created content, but we have renewed the stance in light of the current circumstances.

Please enjoy fan-created content.

The main purpose is to enjoy (non-profit) with individuals or a few specific groups.

Please refrain from causing damages to the original work.

Please refrain from causing harm to fans.

We hope that fans do not criticize each other over fan-created content.

If it is different from the official scenario, please make note of the fact in advance to avoid misunderstanding. (If it is presented as the official scenario or can cause that kind of misunderstanding, it is prohibited.)

Please refrain from content that is against publicly accepted morals.

Fan-created content must have originality or other creative personalization, such that it cannot be mistaken for official publications or products.

IDOLiSH7 hopes that fans can continue to enjoy fan-created content from now and in the future.

We ask for your consideration and cooperation so that the project does not have to request both creaters and fans to refrain from all fan-created content.

About the sale and distribution of fan-created content

The sale, distribution, and free distribution of doujinshi (fanzines) and fan-made goods are permitted only within the scope of the following non-profit purposes.

Scope of non-profit purposes

Direct sales and direct distribution

Regardless of sales, paid distribution, or free distribution, the total cumulative number of one produced item must be 100 or less.

The estimated sales amount (number of production x sales price) must be 100,000 yen (about $1000) or less. [T/N: This is the total amount and not "profit" only.]

No order-made products

Based on the above, the following categories will add to and supplement the above guidelines.

Doujinshi (fan-created manga books, fanzines) Cases that can be judged as "not overtly commercial" will be tolerated as being within the scope of non-commercial and fan activities, regardless of the estimated sales amount or sales method described above.

*Digital distribution (digital download) sales and digital made-to-order sales are considered to be excessively profitable and are prohibited. [T/N: In general, digital commissions in Japan do not happen so often. Please be careful, because it is not a cultural norm in Japan.]

Fan-created goods Please understand that it is difficult to differentiate between officially licensed products from fan-created goods.

Even if you do not sell your work but publish it on social media, etc., please mention that is “fan-created” and not official.

In some cases, there is a possibility that a product that was scheduled to be sold may not be available for sale as a consequence of the availability of fan-created products.

<About figurines, garage kits, and other three-dimensional craftworks> These products can be sold only when the copyright has been granted at a garage kit exhibition or event where three-dimensional works are allowed.

<About accessories in the "character image"> (inspired by the character and using the character's name as the name of the product, etc.) Because it is difficult to differentiate from officially licensed products, please refrain from selling or distributing the product even if it is for non-commercial purposes, and refrain from producing the product beyond the following scope. If sold as a three-dimensional product, it can be sold only when the copyright has been granted at a garage kit exhibition or event where three-dimensional works are allowed.

<About the use of the logos of the work and of individual groups and units (in game groups)> Due to the possibility of misidentification as an officially licensed product, the use of the logo is prohibited under any circumstances.

Also, please understand that the use of different typefaces for group names, unit names, etc. may be misidentified as an officially licensed product, so please mention that is it fan-created content and unofficial.

Plush goods It is difficult to show personalized originality with regard to the form (characteristic shape) of the products.

Please refer to the following as general guidelines.

＜Items for which the use of plush product motifs which are not currently considered a problem, at this time.>

Drawing manga and illustrations and posting them on social media

Publish a doujinshi (fanzine) that you have created and drawn yourself.

Posting of your own photos of the plush product on social media

＜Please refrain from using plush product motifs in the following situations.>

Excessive crafting or modification of the plush product itself.

Create a similar plush product based on an existing design and post it on social media.

Make your own plush product of a character from another work based on the design of the IDOLiSH7 plush product.

Publish and sell doujinshi (fanzines) that mainly feature pictures of plush products

Produce plush goods with the same motifs, post them on social media, and sell them.

[About the plush costumes based on the existing costumes in the IDOLiSH7 project] It is not a problem to make your own costumes based on existing costumes in the project and put them on your own plush for fun.

However, please understand that there is a possibility of misidentification as an officially licensed product if it is published on social media, so please mention that it is fan-created and unofficial.

Please refrain from selling or taking orders to make costumes based on existing costumes.

Fan-created games [T/N: Board and video games] The production, publication, and distribution of games, regardless of whether they are creative or not, digital or analog, is prohibited regardless of whether they are for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

This does not apply to "playing card style illustrations." [T/N: This means fanart that looks like playing cards is OK and not considered "for game use."]

Cosplay The production of costumes, filming, exhibitions, photographs, participation in competitions, and the release of videos are within the scope of fan activities, and we hope that you will continue to enjoy cosplaying.

*Please refrain from purchasing cosplay costumes from companies that are not authorized by the project.

Providing food and drink, holding cafes and other events to attract customers The following acts are prohibited regardless of whether they are for commercial or non-commercial purposes

The act of offering food and drink or food and drink space to the public (unspecified few, unspecified many, or specified many) regardless of self-made or ready-made products (*)

Running a campaign that appears to be an official project of IDOLiSH7. The act of suggesting or misleading people to believe that they have received permission, sponsorship, or affiliation from people related to IDOLiSH7 or Bandai Namco Online, when it is not true.

Regarding the act of posting or disseminating the contents of this guideline that are simplified, mistranslated, or distorted on social media, etc.:

We hope that the users of the content will make their own effort to understand these guidelines and make use of them in their activities and fan-created works on social media.

These guidelines are subject to change without notice. This does not apply to products that were produced, sold, or released prior to the release of these guidelines. We would appreciate your consideration in the future. Please check this page from time to time and use our copyrighted material within the scope of the latest guidelines.
