Guys, Dana spent 5 years making The Owl House, as frustrating as it was for it to be cut, making what we got still took so much time and hard work from her and the rest of the team.

The woman needs some time to rest, and she can’t very well do that by hanging out in the disney offices rn.

and even if she gets approved for extra content, we still probably won’t have it out for some time regardless because of the work and time put into it.

There’s so much misinfo claiming that because she left she’s never doing toh stuff again and that’s just straight up not true.

She’s interested, she’s made that clear, but for now she’s a bit burnt out so until she’s up for it again, you just kinda got to be patient.

Promote the show, keep hammering disney, but don’t put pressure on her specifically, this is something she should be ready to do in her own time as well. 

Let her rest so she can come back when she’s up for it, however long that may be, and in the meantime make sure disney knows there’s interest for the series to continue in the meantime.

I think people see “ Dana left disney” and just jump to the worst conclusions almost instantly, but it’s not as bad as you think when pulling back the clickbait.

These are hardworking people behind the show and if you were in their position, you’d want a break too.

The real takeaway here is:

Yes, she left.

Could she come back? Yes, she could, if she wants to.

Is this the end for toh forever? No, if she wants to come back and disney is asked for more, then we can get more. But they sure won’t approve if there’s no  fan interest anymore.

For now, the fandom will manage on it’s own, until then.

what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.

I guess any negative experiences you have by living in a misogynistic world... are your fault if you are anything but positive? There's two types of people who use transandrophobia to decribe transmascs' and trans mens' experiences:

- Simply specificity, language used to hone in on a specific way being trans affects people who just happen to be men

- As both the above and as a springboard to discuss how societal misogyny, radical feminism, gender stereotypes, and bioessentalism affect all people who can be pecieved as men or masculine by others, and how bigotries compound in meaningful ways with stereotypes and bigotry surrounding maleness and manhood

Like. Half of you are saying "maleness is a hollow experience which is standard, and exists in opposition to gendered oppression, and transandrophobia is therefore when dudes experience misogyny and transphobia"

and half of you are saying "Being percieved and/or transitioning towards male uniquely affects how I am treated, because, for example, how people perceive my blackness or mental illness or kinkiness or femininity is compounded with my manhood in ways that don't usually happen to gender conforming cisperi women"

Which are two fundamentally different approaches to transandrophobia as a concept. One suggests that maleness is a simple downy layer of privilege that coats a person through their male life, and the other acknowledges that a man (or somebody perceived as masculine/male) can experience oppression in ways that those NOT perceived male may not.

Only one of these interpretations is intersectional. Black individuals who are policed more hashly when interpreted as masc know they are risking dangerous experiences when transitioning to male, as has been discussed before on here (to no avail). Male or percieved male people with personality disorders are treated as more dangerous than women with similar symptoms, and are sometiems diagnosed with different disorders entirely based on percieved gender differences. This affects transmascs too, especially considering the already dire state of queerness in psychiatric institutions. Being a male birthing parent is a whole shitshow of transphobia because men are not supposed to give birth, and transmascs are lucky to access related healthcare at all, let alone access it without being ceaselessly misgendered and treated as a stigmatised 'other' to deleterious affects on parent and baby. These are just a few examples, there are many more ways maleness can screw a person over. And that's not to say that female privilege is a thing instead of male privilege, but rather to emphasise that men are not supposed to be minorities. Men are not supposed to be assaulted, men are not supposed to be outliers, men are absolutely not supposed to be trans.

When a man is autistic, he's not just autistic, he's an autistic male, and that makes him more likely to be killed by cops (especially if black). When someone says "you claim you're not ableist but you're scared of the homeless x on a bus talking to xself", they always say the person is a man, because that sounds more significant (and cops think so too). Consider when a person's rape/abuse is considered to not be all that serious due to the victim being male, or when a man's attraction is considered to be more exploitative than a woman's, or when a fat man is considered more creepy/sexist than a thin man or a fat woman. Consider why so many caricatures of evil and creepiness are men with deformities. Consider the fact that men's bathrooms don't have baby changing tables, and that a man may get less support from others after their child's death than the mother might. Maleness can negatively compound with things like minority status, vulnerability, aggression, sexuality, etc. in ways that screw that person over, both in social spaces (such as queer communities that dislike/distrust maleness and masculinity, or how isolation affects men harder), and in more tangible ways, like their rates of suicide and being murdered.

There are tangible ways in which transitioning to male can negatively affect a person's life even if you remove (hypothetically, not really possible) the transphobia element, and these also constitute as worthwhile topics of discussion. If you think maleness is the lack of gendered oppression, then you're not intersectional in your feminism at all. If your life as a male is genuinely sunshine and rainbows (apart from the transphobia if trans), then good for you, genuinely that's great, but not everyone lives in a radfem fantasy world.

Being unable to tell the difference between men talking about mens issues/liberation, and right wingers talking about oppressing women more, isn't feminist. It's ignorant and antifeminist. (MRAs don't care about actual mens lib, and are actively worsening it because they are sexist and opposed to gender lib. You guys know that, right? That male and female liberation aren't oppositional or binary, but the same gender liberation that is entirely oppositional to patriarchy?)

These men and mascs talking about issues facing men aren't ignorant womanhaters who deny misogyny and want ultraprivileged men to be coddled, they are good faith members of your community with experiences just as varied and valid as yours. Treat them like it.

so i’m not the op of the post in question and also i am not a butch lesbian so i’m obviously not trying to speak from a perspective i don’t have. but, at more of a surface level, i guess i do see where you’re coming from: if you take will’s canon gender nonconformity (and its direct correlation to his experience with sexuality) and translate that to a lesbyler au, it makes sense that the immediate inclination would be to make her butch — to have the inverse of that gender nonconformity play out, one that is also directly correlated to her sexuality and would often ostracize her from the general (heterosexual) population. however to me, characterization across these types of AUs is more about maintaining a character’s core traits and values, which i think is what op was getting at in their tags and the overall intent of the post. which is of course not to say that will’s experience with being gnc is not a vital part of his character and story, but more so that i think mike’s core personality traits and values align a lot more closely with the historic associations with the butch experience and identity than will’s do (re: op’s tags — being a knight, protector, etc). these types of takes are a lot more interesting to me because i feel like they go one step further than the more immediate and instinctive interpretations and instead create a kind of thought exercise that i find really, really fun: taking the traits that really set a character apart from the others (e.g: mike and will sharing a lot of the core traits and values that their overall story is built off of, while also being so, so different in other ways that fuel their independent arcs) and keeping those consistent while changing so much about the world around them. and, in the case of a lesbyler au, even changing parts of who they are and the expectations placed on men vs. women and their experiences with sexuality because of it. what makes a gay man gnc and how he is treated because of it will always be a lot different than how a gnc lesbian is treated, and i think there’s a lot of nuance to this that could be really interesting to explore.

anyways, all of this to say that i do think if you were to make one of them butch it would absolutely be mike over will and i will probably always have a hard time seeing it the other way around. but also i feel like this fandom can be weirdlyyyyy combative about disagreements in stuff like this and that AUs and hcs that are meant to be in good fun so often get taken so seriously that it doesn’t become fun anymore, so i hope my little spiel made sense! at the end of the day if butch will byers is the hill you’re taking a stand on it does not personally affect me in any way and im not here to police you about it. but me personally i’m very definitively over here in lesbyler butch mike land 🏴 (<- waving my flag)

At the end of Sinsmas, Stolas is kneeling on the floor, with Via looking down at him from above, and her hand resting on Stolas's, which she pulls away from.

AND THE PARALLELS AND REVERSALS DON'T END THERE

From what I could see, it seems like there's only one instance where the parallel doesn't totally apply.
