One day while I was abroad I noticed the soundtrack to the film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile had appeared in my music library. Evidently while I was away my children discovered both the film and the soundtrack and they made me watch it when I got home. Now over a year later, the soundtrack still pops up whenever my wife’s phone is connected to the car’s bluetooth.

I find that film and that soundtrack intolerable. Not just because it’s painfully formulaic, not just because I am axiomatically opposed to all media about a plucky performing act trying to take the show on the road, but specifically because of the singing voice of the crocodile.

It’s too sexy.

It’s a children’s movie, about a crocodile. Not even an especially anthropomorphic crocodile. The singing voice should not be dripping with sexual charisma. It’s ridiculous.
