it is so weird to be home alone rn. gf is seeing a movie with an autistic-coded half-carribean skirt-loving girl who ISNT me and thus i am alone in my apartment in the evening for what feels like the first time in years. the last time i felt like this was when i still lived at home. i've actually been thinking a lot about what life was like before i spent every second with gf in arms reach. it was def lonely but possibly more peaceful. but if you gave me the choice between hectically in love or lonely and peaceful i would choose the former. summer's come early and we just had a mid-february-type storm. it's supposed to go all day tomorrow.

having good & true friends will literally save and protect you in a million unfathomable ways. like okay we have written so many times about lovers. but the way a platonic friend laughs and cries with you. the way they hold your hand at 14 years old and at 34. the way they keep a little silver tie to you, touching base over and over and over. how you can go years without talking, only to re-meet and discover: oh shit! you're still cool!

there are people who have been in my life for more than half of it, and i have loved every version of them. do you know how fucking beautiful that is. yeah love will save the world. but the way friends love you is gonna save the you.

As a young librarian, I started trying to figure out why more young people aren't ever coming in; 90% of our demographic are the elderly and parents of children, and the rest are a rough mix of the kids and teenagers who come in just for school projects.
