I just wanted to check in. I was hoping you had a better day and were able to get some stuff done without too much stress. I don't know the exact nature of what you have to do before these deadlines but I hope it all works out. Today after doing a lot of studying I walked over 20km playing PokĆ©mon Go and listening to the Undertale soundtrack on repeat. That was relaxing if you're into that or have time (now that it's past midnight) šŸ’•
Why I am stressed/had a shitty day:I am modelling a 3D character and making a film and I have a week to finish them both.Tube strike took me all around London and in to university two hours late for my first class that was three hours long.On my way home my phone died and I was on a bus that I only thought might be the one to take me home but was just as likely to take me the other way and I was concealing a panic attack it was 11pm. Thankfully was the right bus.Maya crashed on me twice and I had to redo work.Electrics blew in the house there is no heat or hot water.Iā€™m perpetually in bad wifi Iā€™m actually using data right now.Someone stole my glovesAnd of course things persist as per usual but they are either mundane or private but always tiring.
Anywayā€¦ Are you Pokemon Anon? Either way you are still sweet. Thank you so much!

Lena, who would be drift compatible in a pacific rim AU?
Hmmm, good question! I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever done a Pacific Rim AU post, so let me give it a try (all Shepherds work in the Jaeger program):
Blade: a powerful but vengeful and brooding Jaeger pilot whoā€™s known for being one of the few pilots to solo-fly a Jaeger for several missions. Has refused to take on a co-pilot since his older brother (his first co-pilot) was killed beside him in battle. Known for using lightning/plasma attacks, making him popular with the public--however, he refuses to appear in any public-facing PR campaigns, preferring only to fight and kill kaiju. 1st Jaeger: Coyote Lightning
Trouble: a reckless and headstrong hotshot pilot known for having a death wish and zero fear of kaiju. He was born into a family of Jaeger pilots and is eager to make his name distinct from his fatherā€™s, who is a veteran war hero of the First Contact Wars. His Jaeger is specially equipped with more explosive weapons than most. He was voted to have the best smile among the Jaeger pilots for three years in a row. 1st Jaeger: Atlas Striker
Tallys: a solemn and no-nonsense pilot known for her refusal to employ flash and cool maneuvers in battle, and for her refusal to join the celebrity culture surrounding Jaeger pilots. Few know this, but her family was killed by kaiju during the First Contact Wars and she joined the program out of revenge. She is motivated solely by bloodthirst for kaiju, and her Jaeger employs long-range attacks, making her an effective defensive pilot. 1st Jaeger: Echo Hydra
Shery: like Mako Mori, she is the daughter of the current director of the Jaeger program and therefore relegated to secretarial and administrative duties only. In the academy, she became known for her abilities to drift with almost any partner; however, she freezes in combat situations until she is paired during an emergency crisis with Riel, whose ruthless determination forces her into action.
Riel: a scientist and financier of the Jaeger program, he uses his vast wealth and expertise to work to develop better and more efficient technology (and weapons) for the Jaegers. He knows every Jaegerā€™s components from top to bottom and would be an extremely efficient and tactical pilot, but is adamantly a non-combatant until the kaiju attack the outpost heā€™s staying in, necessitating his becoming a sudden pilot alongside Shery as a last resort.Ā
Chase: a former thief/criminal who had his prison sentence commuted in exchange for becoming a Jaeger pilot. He was initially forced to fly solo because other pilots didnā€™t trust him and thought he would either run during battle or would refuse to put himself in danger to save innocents. However, he is one of the most popularĀ ā€œJaeger Idolsā€ in the public eye, earning fans everywhere with his sense of flash, fashion, and flair. He pilots as if he has a death wish, and his Jaeger has two blades installed into its forearms. 1st Jaeger: Lucky Corsair
Red: initially a scientist and academic who wanted to study kaiju behavior and the Breach from which they came, he was eventually recruited to the Jaeger pilot program due to his excellent combat abilities and due to the wishes of his friends, Pan and Neon, who became their own drift-partners. He is working with Riel to develop technology to allow Jaegers to either become invisible or to teleport very short distances. The prototype of this technology has led to the development of his signature move in battle, the Flashstep. 1st Jaeger: Garnet Dawn
Ayla: a headstrong pilot initially known for deviating from orders, she was also known for developing friction with her partners, leading to a never-ending roulette of pilots who would join up with her and then quit shortly afterwards. She is famous for a technique in which she spins her Jaeger at such velocities that she creates devastating whirlwind attacks. Itā€™s rumored that she was trained in a secret Jaeger facility in a foreign country and later defected, leading to supposed assassination attempts by rival government agents. She always carries a bo staff with her in the Jaeger outpost, even in the canteen. 1st Jaeger: Cyclone Banshee
Halek: one of the first-ever Jaeger pilots, he initially flew and fought with his twin, Naolin, as his co-pilot. However, their many fights took a toll on Naolinā€™s body, leading to him retiring from the program. However, Halek continues to fly (even to the detriment of his own body) in order to avoid returning to civilian life, where an arranged marriage to a wealthy socialite awaits him. Thus, he is desperate to take on any partner, leading to... well, youā€™ll see down below. 1st Jaeger: Willow Titan
Briony: one of the most resilient and powerful Jaeger pilots to exist, she is known for fighting so effectively that she can push her body past the limits of most other Jaeger pilots. Her signature move is a superpowered punch that can send a kaiju flying more than a mile away. She performs body slams, punches, kicks, and whirling chain sword attacks with her Jaeger. However, she can have trouble controlling her own strength and momentum, a flaw little-known to the public until the strength of her will accidentally overrode her co-pilot and wreaked massive damage on a city she was protecting. As a result, she has become hesitant and fearful of her own piloting, as well as afraid to fly with others.Ā 1st Jaeger: Valiant OrionĀ
Lavinet: a surprise Jaeger pilot and former model, she is the heiress to a massive construction empire: her father is in charge of building the Pacific Wall, a last-ditch effort by humanity to protect the coastlines from the invading kaiju. Although she could live in peace in one of the few safe zones left on Earth, she hasĀ  decided to throw her hat in the ring and become a Jaeger pilot, attracting media attention and fan adoration everywhere. Due to her fatherā€™s fortune and massive donations, her Jaeger is one of the fastest and sleekest to exist. To the horror of her superiors, she ordered her warmachine to be painted in pink and lavender. 1st Jaeger: Wildcat Renegade
Croelle: a Jaeger pilot who professes to only be in it for the money. Despite his selfish attitude and mysterious background, he is one of the most skilled and powerful pilots in the program, allowing him to stay on despite his loud insistence that kaiju will ultimately destroy the world. Few can manage to pilot with him for more than a few weeks due to his utter lack of respect for others. However, he proves his valor while running am (ultimately unsuccessful) mission to destroy the Breach, earning him a medal and a promotion to being the liaison between pilots and the people who run the Jaeger program. 1st Jaeger: Crimson Rogue
MC: idk who they would fly with, but my headcanon is that they would be a new pilot of mysterious origins who turns out to be able to communicate with and/or control the kaiju. Turns out they were developed in a secret genetic lab to be the first-ever human-kaiju DNA hybrid!!! And they have mutant superpowers as a result!!!
Drift Partners:
Blade-Briony: It turns out Bladeā€™s total sense of control and dominating precision is a good match for Brionyā€™s chaotic and uncontrolled power; her bubbly and almost indomitable determination also thaws his aggressive solitude and stoicism. Their Jaeger is named Coyote SakuraĀ and its signature attack is charging a chain sword with plasma lightning and launching an all-out flurry of superpowered moves!
Tallys-Lavinet: Despite an extremely rocky beginning, these two mature and tactical pilots form a well-coordinated team focusing on long-range defense and rescue, with Lavinet handling close-quarters combat and Tallys handling ranged attacks. Despite their extremely different backgrounds, their measured ways of thinking and steely determination give them a lot of common ground. Their Jaeger is named LatticeĀ ElectraĀ and its signature attack is throwing a huge Jaeger lance that is strapped to its back, spearing two kaiju at once!
Trouble-Chase: Trouble is the only pilot fearless enough, reckless enough, and daredevil enough to take on Chase as a partner without caring about his criminal background and reputation. Together, the two of them have a balanced mix of bravery and evaluation, although they are also both impulsive enough to completely disregard orders, leading to a friendship for the ages. Their Jaeger is called Spitfire Eden and specializes both in blades, fisticuffs, and guns!
Red-Ayla: Red is patient and well-mannered enough to tame Aylaā€™s brash temper and abrasiveness, forming a powerful and balanced team that becomes known as one of the fastest-moving Jaegers in the program. With Redā€™s speed and ability to teleport, paired with Aylaā€™s agility and wind attacks, their Jaeger is named Whirlwind Dawn, and they are often called in to rescue or defend the coastline.Ā
Halek-Croelle: Although Halek is initially paired with Tallys, his general passivity and laziness chafes against her thirst for revenge. He floats from partner to partner, eventually being informed that the next partner will be his last before he is ejected from the program. To his horror and dismay, he is paired with Croelle, and they get on like cats and dogs. However, Croelleā€™s utter lack of fear and pleasure in violence activates Halekā€™s berserk battle-rage, causing them to become an extremely formidable (if violent and unpredictable) team. Their Jaeger is named Redmoon Danger, and they are only called in as a last resort, as they will not stop fighting until every kaiju in the area is dead.Ā
Riel-Shery: The kaiju discover the Jaeger outpost in which the team resides, developing a two-pronged plan that requires keeping all of the active Jaegers away from base and preoccupied in battle. In the meantime, more kaiju attack the outpost base, threatening to destroy all of the superiors who run the Jaeger program, as well as all of the non-pilot personnel who reside on the base. Left with no fighters and reinforcements and faced with no other option, Riel and Shery climb into a Jaeger under repair, becoming pilots when they drift together for the first time. They manage to repel the Jaeger attack single-handedly and later join the team without academy training, meaning they are only deployed as a plan B. Their Jaeger is named FoxĀ Spirit Rho and is known for its excellent analysis capabilities, targeting a kaijuā€™s weak spots and deploying a swarm of drones to help attack while the Jaeger fires powerful laser-cutter beams usually used in the construction of rockets.Ā

July Roundup
Lifestyle:
Iā€™ve been getting back into running this summer. Itā€™s been about 4 years since Iā€™ve done any serious running, and I have been made painfully aware of the differences in my body at age 29 compared to 25. My knees hurt more, I need to attend to stretching much more seriously than I used to. Iā€™m coming at the task with better self-knowledge than last time, though; I know how far and how fast Iā€™ve been capable of pushing, and I find an enormous amount of comfort and strength from that familiarity.Ā
Iā€™ve also been applying to jobs, a process which started as nauseatingly daunting, but has gradually settled into just a regular chore of the week (ideally chore of the day, if Iā€™m to keep up with new years resolutions). Getting a resume mushed into a satisfying shape has felt nice, as has getting together a form cover letter that I know hasnā€™t hurt my chances of getting my foot in doors. Annoyance Boxes checked off, and the rest is getting familiar with the rest of the grind. Interviews have been and will be the same process.
Games:
Iā€™ve also been playing a lot of Sekiro. Iā€™ve alwaysĀ ā€œlikedā€ Fromsoft games, but itā€™s been rare that Iā€™ve been able to justify the time investment. Thereā€™s an appeal in the structure, endless chances to bash myself against a problem until it clicks, being able to run drills when stuck or inadequate (and there is a hook in the inadequacy; nothing frustrates me more than being unable to Just figure out a solution, or requiring too much time to get there. I have a tense relationship with time and deadline pressure. Impatience is one of my greatest vices). So with school finished, Iā€™m diving into this as a treat to myself. The systems are fun, and the camera is so fucking awful that I get unreasonably angry about it. One thing I always do with these games that I think is anathema to a lot of their fans is to spoil myself on what Iā€™m up against. In dark souls I would always have open area maps, rather than try to navigate the combat andĀ exploration simultaneously. It put my mind at ease, I didnā€™t like the discomfort of the tension of untriggered surprise. And with Sekiro, I know roughly the zones Iā€™m up against, Iā€™m not above watching videos of the boss fights to learn the proper counters etc. No shame, no honor, thatā€™s not what I get out of these games, really.
As with running, so with jobsearch, so with Sekiro, the method is diligence, the appeal is the pleasure of feeling my improvement over time. There is nothing more exciting to me than casually accomplishing something that I knowĀ would have annihilated me only a short time ago. I can finish 2 miles in 20 minutes, I want to get it down to 15. This also means the videogame tends to lose out on the priorities listā€”if Iā€™m wanting to dedicate myself to practice, thereā€™s almost always a different outlet thatā€™d be better outcomes in the long run
very 8 of pentacles mood overall, lately.
Books:
Iā€™m almost done with Pynchonā€™s Against the Day, which had taken up all of my Reading attention span this month. Unless it does something in the final 8% to lose me hard, itā€™ll probably clock in as my 2nd favorite of his stuff, behind Gravityā€™s Rainbow.Ā  Anarchism as expressed against American mining companies, European empires, and the Mexican state; searches for a lost paradise city; warfare between schools of mathematics; the nature of Light. At face value, it feels closest toĀ Gravityā€™s Rainbow and Mason & Dixon, compared to the rest of his workĀ (I know thereā€™s a lot of subtext and referencing going over my head with all of theseĀ in terms of both history and literature; I noticed a lot of reviews ofĀ AtDĀ focused about the variety of genre style work that heā€™s pulling from in certain sections, nearly all of which is lost on me. It has, however, been very fun to me that Iā€™m able to keep up with the mathematic academia infighting depicted in this). Thereā€™s aĀ ā€œfairy tales coming to lifeā€ quality to all three, if instead of Grimmsā€™ stories itā€™s historical models of the world: Supersonic rockets wreck the flow of pavlovian cause & effect, the destruction of natural landscape in the course of linear surveying becomes a direct conduit for a massive influx of evil energy, quaternion mathematics casting time as real and space as imaginary allow a yogi to contort himself out of sight and into the imaginary plane. The aether is experimentally disproven in the beginning of Against the Dayā€™sĀ timeline, which doesnā€™t stop holdout engineers and mystics from working wonders with it.
It feels like thereā€™s about as much going on in here as GR, but where GR is claustrophobically overstuffed (which is also part of the reason itā€™s a better book) and Mason & Dixon gets kind of plodding, the material here is given space to breathe, without losing momentum. It probably helps that the characters in this are a.) numerous, and b.) unusually solid as far as Pynchon goes.
Itā€™s also got many great examples of something else I really like about Pynchon, which is that he is willing to commit 110% to incredibly stupid jokes. Thereā€™s an Elmer Fudd reference in here that completely knocked me on my ass.
Viz:
Watched the Bo Burnham netflix, which was mostly pretty good, though Iā€™m completely out of patience for ostentations self-awareness or fake debate where the ~comedian~ whoā€™s concerned about being ~white privileged mannn~ feels guilty he might be ~taking up space~, doesnā€™t knowĀ that he ~deserrrrves it~... out of patience because I already know what he did with that guilt (if genuine) ā€” he didnā€™t scrap the project, he released the fucking thing anyway. What am I to do with this, Bo Burnham? Would you like my permission? Would you like anĀ ā€œitā€™s ok dudeā€ from people of marginalized groups within your audience?Ā Why am I watching along for a decision youā€™ve quite literally already made? I donā€™t trust displays of vulnerability before an audience of this size.
Also watched through I Think You Should Leave, which... sure itā€™s funny, and also very effective at making me uncomfortable, which is clearly what itā€™s aiming to do, but. I donā€™t really get why itā€™s got such a strong cultural draw within the online spheres Iā€™m normally checked into. Saw some discourse about how the quotability is somehow distinct from regular memeing, which, alright get over yourselves jesus christ.
speaking of flavors of the month, watched 50 shades and lmao. Iā€™ve been told by a trusted source the books are worse which is hilarious.
also speaking of flavors of the [century], S.O. and I have been doing a rewatch of pre-MCU comic book movies, which has been some fascinating anthropology. It meant, though, that we had to sit through howard the duck, an absolutely wretched film. Other highlights so far: willem dafoe power rangers acting, the soundtrack on affleck daredevil (incl a fuckin choice Evanescence exercise montage), Blade & Blade II still hold up.
Weā€™ve also made it to the final season of pre-reboot xfiles. Duchovnyā€™s mostly gone from this last season, replaced largely by robert patrick of T1000 fame, who is a better actor but a worse character, dudeā€™s basically just A Cop. The writingā€™s weirdly probably better than the last couple Duchovny seasons, but the show doesnā€™t work without him ā€” his bad acting was the main thing keeping things together, the toneā€™s all off now.

The problem with the Amazing Mary Jane
Iā€™m willing to be corrected on this because due to a lot of real life factors Iā€™ve not read beyond issue #2 and only skimmed a bit from issue #4. In fact I WANT to be wrong on this subject but I have to have my say.
I donā€™t want to hurt anyoneā€™s enjoyment of the book but I am also not going to just let problems slide when I see them.
The foundation of the AMJ book is inherently a non-starter and relies upon Mary Jane being out of character.
There is A LOT I can dive into on the first 2 issues alone regarding this, and I planned to, but as things are in my life the possibility of doing a deep dive are not likely so Iā€™m getting this off my chest here and now.
It boils down to MJ going along with Mysterio, staying on set, not telling the authorities and/or Peter, believing in his redemption and how sheā€™s helping get him that redemption.
MJ is a bad ass, no question. But so is Spider-Man, and Spider-Man has limits, he knows them and (unless his judgment is clouded for a big reason) he knows better than to take stupid risks unless there is a really good reason that extends towards immediately averting threats and dangers to innocent people.
Case in point Spidey wouldnā€™t just pick Ā fight with Galactus unless he had a really good reason.
In this series MJ is directly endangering herself by being surrounded by criminals and super powered villains along with a known murder like Mysterio, who has proven himself to be an outright public menace as well. Mere months prior to AMJ #1 he intentionally caused mass panic in New York city by faking an alien invasion. Heā€™s done that before and in fact does so again in AMJ #2 when he throws a tantrum. MJ calming him down doesnā€™t excuse the fact that he potentially did cause harm (physical or mental) before she reined him in and is extremely likely to do so again, particularly when you consider she canā€™t spend her life babysitting him.
MJ is allowing Mysterio, a seriously dangerous and awful guy*, Ā walk free after heā€™s escaped from custody, hasnā€™t served his term or earned parole, has committed more recent crimes that she knows about and is actively committing identity theft and potentially ruining an innocent manā€™s career and reputation. ** Even if he winds up not ruining it itā€™s a huge violation of Cage McKnightā€™s personhood. Hypothetically if the movie MJ and Beck are working on pans out great and McKnight wins accolades and rakes in the cash that doesnā€™t mean he approves of or ever wanted his name or work associated with that project. And thatā€™s the best case scenario, if the movie tanks or there is a scandal then his career will be seriously damaged.
At best Mary Jane in being complicit in Beckā€™s movie/crimes (and legally that is exactly what she is doing) is in effect prioritizing her career opportunities and the hypothetical Ā redemption of several criminals (many of whom are still active criminals, check AMJ #1) as well as the redemption of an awful human being like Mysterio over the career and personhood of an innocent man.***
At worst she is prioritizing that stuff over the safety of innocent civilians, herself and harm that mgith be caused to the loved ones of any potential victims. Mysterio isnā€™t Carnage, but he is not a good person at all and very dangerous. Even if he sincerely wishes to reform, MJ has no moral right to decide he (and the other criminals on set whoā€™ve not been legally freed) should be allowed to find redemption outside of a controlled environment. He isnā€™t even like Sandman or Boomerang, criminals who at least actually risked their lives to save another personā€™s and thus more concretely showed active signs of redemption. All Mysterio has done (unless Iā€™m mistaken) is essentially make a movie about himself (can you spell ego) and broken several laws and ethical lines to do it, whilst doing the same to give employment to other criminals. There isnā€™t any kind of legal oversight to this, there is literally one, non-super powered and semi-martial arts trained woman keeping this in check and thatā€™s all if the super villains donā€™t just decide to screw the rules as they often do.
Not to mention, surely Mary Jane would have cause to question Beckā€™s sincerity. Sheā€™s smart, a great read of people, has super human social skills. But sheā€™s been fooled before (remember the Aunt May actress? How about her drug addicted fellow model who lied about not needing a fix?) and Mysterioā€™s entire gimmick revolves around deceiving people. I highly doubt MJ would feel the guy deserves redemption (Aunt May is an incredibly forgiving person and far more patient than MJ, and she didnā€™t forgive the Vulture for accidentally killing her fiancĆ©, Mysterio has done almost as aweful things to MJā€™s loved ones). But even if she did itā€™s beyond out of character sheā€™d go about helping him get it like this. Itā€™s jut so contrived and badly written.
Now I want to be clear about all this.
This isnā€™t me saying Leah Williams is exactly a bad Mary Jane writer.
Because as bullshit as the foundation and context of this series is Williams nails a lot of who MJ is within that context.
Put it to you like this.
Itā€™s unbelievable that MJ would allow Mysterio to continue to impersonate Cage McKnight. But hypothetically if she did, her rebranding him and playing peace keeper when they seek out funding is exactly how sheā€™s act. So Williams gets MJ like 85% but that last 15% makes everything else fall apart.
Itā€™s not even that this direction canā€™t make sense. Itā€™s that MJā€™s justifications for going in this direction donā€™t add up at all.
*He literally drugged, sexually violated, then later killed a teenage girlā€¦and then tried to kill her babyā€¦.twiceā€¦.in a story directly referenced in AMJ #1ā€¦.and Nick Spencerā€™s run which set up this seriesā€¦which was also one of the single most famous Mysterio AND most famous Daredevil stories everā€¦all of which Mary Jane KNOWS about because she was in that story!
**Letā€™s for the sake of argument say MJ doesnā€™t necesarilly know the details of Beckā€™s criminal record. Between basic Google skills and contacts within the super hero community (like with Iron Man) wouldnā€™t she be able to check that stuff and see Beck has clearly not been released legally and also has not been falsely charged with anything?
***Bear in mind, MJā€™s partner/husband/best friend/guy she lived with for years was framed MULTIPLE times in and out of costume (sometimes by Mysterio himself) and had his identity stolen from him in the Clone Saga. So she has full knowledge of how awful and harmful being the victim of an imposter/identity theft can be. Itā€™s not a small crime whatsoever just because itā€™s not as bad as murder, which Beck is also guilty of on multiple counts.
Oh and he also faked Aunt Mayā€™s death and convinced her partner and her beloved Aunt Anna she was really dead. Like holy shit thatā€™s twisted, even more twisted than the multiple times heā€™s tried to convince her romantic partner his sanity is in question.

Let's Save the World
Greetings from Earth! First time poster to this blog and stoked to meet some new partners. My name is Chris and Iā€™m a male nurse (Yo, youā€™re going to get some medically accurate roleplay) in his late twenties. I have a lovely wife and two stupidly handsome animals (Pictures of the animals available on request) but manage to maintain a pretty active roleplay life due to the fact that I work nights. The Basics: I tell everyone that Iā€™m a professional. I try to reply 1-3 times a week and the length of posts depends on amount of characters in play. If Iā€™m going to take longer, I always try to let you know. Iā€™m willing to write male and female characters and focus on M/F as the male and F/F. M/M just isnā€™t my thing, sorry y'all. My limits include pedophilia, rape, and animal abuse. Anything else can be discussed. I prefer e-mail for writing ([email protected]) but have Discord for plotting (NurseBatman#3674). If we get along really well, you can convince me into discord roleplay. The text limit just drives me nuts. I do use faceclaims pretty aggressively. Is there anything else? Central time zone?
Onto the roleplay stuff. Iā€™ll start with originals and then dive into fandoms. I put extra *s by the lines that I will literally lose my mind if you approach me about. Searching hard! -The Social Media Age****** A m/f line that Iā€™ve given a little thought to, looking for someone to write a young woman that is pretty much making her living being an instagram model/fitness person, etc. I think the proper term is *Influencer*. Meets and starts dating a successful guy with no presence online, the two falling for each other but at odds over their differing attitudes towards the world. -This American Life Something set in the 1970s, focusing on a roadtrip. A group of teenagers leave their small town behind to head out west. I love this time period. Can be supernatural, supernatural lite (think Twin Peaks weirdness) or totally natural. -Stranger Things inspired A group of four to six friends enjoy their last summer together in a remote town as strangeness begins to unfurl. Iā€™d be willing to set this in the present but think it would be way more fun in the 70s or 80s. I have an idea for one of the kids having lost a sibling in a strange way when they were young and possibly some sort of cult in town.
Fandoms!
-Star Wars**
I'd really love to write Obi-Wan during the interim between the prequels and the OG trilogy. Hit me with some sort of love interest that he can go off and be adventuring with while Luke is super young.
-Preacher Seriously. Love this show, love this comic. Would happily write Jesse or Cassidy against Tulip. Just definitely looking for a Tulip
-Harry Potterverse
I'd love to write a pair of aurors, something original. I'm think, basically, magic buddy cop thrillride? That's literally all my brain has and it sounds awesome.
-The Boys Would love to write Hughie against Starlight! Currently working my way through the season that just dropped. -Marvel -I will love you forever if you write an Elektra against my Daredevil. They are toxic and in love and I love it. Whether it be the comics or the Netflix series, I donā€™t care. Someone please write me an Elektra. Netflix did a good job of portraying this one -Alternatively, Iā€™d also be happy to write against a Black Widow, either with Daredevil. They were a mainstay OTP in the comics in the 90s and Iā€™d love to write against Scarletā€™s Black Widow. -Has anyone seen the trailer for the neverendingly delayed New Mutants movie? I would love to write something based on that horror aspect of the mutant universe.* -Iā€™d love to write an older MCU Peter Parker (like college) running across a MCU version of Black Cat. Or just a Spiderman roleplay in general. Iā€™ve always wanted to write Peter but have never gotten the chance! I have a ton of ideas for this, plus faceclaims for a few of the villains. Would also be willing to play him against Zendayaā€™s MJ, Spidergwen, or Silk (Deepcut)**************************** (I so badly want to write Peter) -One of the pairings that was done for a time in the comics was Star Lord against Kitty Pryde and it was actually a lot of fun. If anyone would want to do a MCU version of this, I would so *DOWN* to play Quill, Xmen hijinks a plenty in space -If you write Jessica Jones, Iā€™d be willing to write almost anyone against her (NOT KILGRAVE). Just let me know. Iā€™d be super down to write Luke Cage or maybe Matt Murdock. I do a mean John Constantine, which, letā€™s face it, is a cross company illustration of the two most terrible people together -Hawkguys! I would love to either write Clint against Kate Bishop (This would be a slightly skewed MCU vibe) or Kate against America Chavez. I would really love to do either of these lines. Or a poly version if someone is willing! -Iā€™d love to write Logan as an active member of the MCU Avengers, possibly as a partner in crime/wetworks/murder with Black Widow. Those two could cause some mayhem. -Honestly, any X-men relationship could be sold to me. Just try it. I would love to find a Kitty for Piotr, a Rogue for Remy, or almost anyone for Kurt.
-DC Iā€™d love to write Batman against Catwoman, please. Or John Constantine against literally almost anyone
-Hannibal Iā€™ve been dying to do a sort of season 4 for a while now, focused on Clarice Starlings interaction with Will Graham and later Hannibal Lecter. Just need to find someone willing to create an original style Clarice. -Resident Evil Iā€™d like to write Leon against Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine in an original outbreak or a new one. I know this is an old school fandom but Iā€™m a diehard fan. -Star Trek Okay, so first up, I am not the most well versed Trekkie in the world. Never watched any of the TV shows but am a massive fan of the trio of rebooted films and would love to give Kirk or Bones a try against Uhura, Dr. Eve, or maybe a female Vulcan OC? Hit me with ideas! -The Matrix Another obscure fandom. Maybe just an original crew, set during the movies, after, or an AU where theyā€™re the only survivors of Zion? Im not sure but I could plot something out!
-Uncharted Iā€™d love to write Chloe Frazier against Nadine Ross, continuing their adventures. Iā€™m pretty wide open on what we can do with this one. RANDOM CRACK SHIPS! Caught in a Web: I would love to write an iteration (Daniel Craig or an original) of James Bond/007 against a non superhero version of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. Spy vs spy shenanigans as two people working for different governments. Totally impossibly but putting it just in case: Did anyone see all that Wonder Woman/Lara Croft art that was floating around the internet earlier this year? I would love to dive into that. Iā€™d prefer to write Lara but Iā€™m definitely not picky. If you made it this far, youā€™re a hero and I owe you a beer. Hope to hear from some great writers! Letā€™s create something *EPIC*

Spectral: Chapter 4
ā€œSo why didnā€™t you stick around?ā€ Crowe asked, before slamming down another shot.
ā€œI donā€™t know...it just...it was weird, you know? Heā€™s so young and so...different. It wouldnā€™t have worked out.ā€ Nyx said, running his fingers around the rim of his beer.Ā
ā€œYou fell head over heels for a guy you met in just one night! And youā€™re telling me that you donā€™t want to see him again because heā€™s too different?ā€ Crowe wiped her mouth, slammed down the glass and turned to face Nyx. ā€œNO SHIT HEā€™S DIFFERENT! Because that was your once in a lifetime, love at first sight, soulmate...crap.ā€ She stumbled towards the end of her sentence. ā€œBut you get it! Almost no one ever finds the shit you just found! You gotta take advantage of it! Call him, text him, do SOMETHING!ā€Ā
When she was gone, she sounded so much like her ā€œbrotherā€, Libertus, that Nyx joked he really could see the family resemblance.Ā
ā€œYou and I both know that that shit isnā€™t real. Besides, heā€™s ā€˜advisor to the crown princeā€™,ā€ Nyx mimed a royal voice. ā€œHe doesnā€™t want someone like me...some...scamp.ā€ He went back to staring at his beer.Ā
Crowe burst into a loud laughter. ā€œScamp?! What the hell does that mean?ā€Ā
Indignantly, Nyx responded, ā€œIt means that nothing happened! Besides...I donā€™t have his number...ā€Ā
Throwing her hands up in frustration, Crowe stood and turning in a circle. ā€œYou sir, are an idiot. And I am going to move on to less frustrating idiots.ā€ She got another drink and left to see other friends.Ā
Alone now, Nyx continued to stare into his half empty glass. The ruckus of the bar seemed to fade from his senses, leaving him with his thoughts.Ā
That night had was burned into his memories. The sight of the handsome advisor looking up at him, the way his eyes held such an intelligent charm to them, the way he looked when he smiled. The man glowed with kindness and grace. Ignis truly was someone special. So readily he had held onto a stranger, he had trusted some unknown Glaive. All to play some silly game his friends wanted.
He deserved someone to care for him, to help him.Ā  Nyx had to wonder if he knew that, if his friends knew that.Ā
But the advisor was so far out of Nyxā€™s league it wasnā€™t even funny. The man regularly socialized with the elite of Insomnia. He could make small talk with the greatest minds in Eos. He even looked like he had modeled in Altissa. By the six, Nyx was just lucky Ignis had flirted with him.Ā
He couldnā€™t deny the way he felt, though. Nyx wanted so badly to see him again. He wanted to hold him again, to smell his wonderful cologne. His heart fluttered every time he thought of that smile and he went to sleep dreaming of what could have been.Ā
While the night had been wonderful, Nyx choked it up to Ignis having drank too much at dinner or being too young to know better. He stabbed at his own heart, telling himself over and over again that it was all just a fluke.Ā
A year passed by, allowing the Glaive to pretend that he forgot about the young advisor and continue on with his life. But fate made sure that he didnā€™t.Ā
Occasionally, Nyx heard his name float by in a conversation, but it never seemed consequential. Typically, it as about the brilliant and handsome advisor to the prince or how he had created some amazing new strategy.Ā
Once, the islander saw him walk by. The advisor strode with graceful purpose, never bothering to look towards the training Glaives. He was styling his hair differently now, something that would be deemed ā€œfashionableā€ by the tabloids. Hard as he tried to focus, Nyx ended up screwing up his whole routine that day.Ā
He even caught a glimpse of the young advisor training with his new daggers. It was late in the evening as Nyx made Citadel rounds, passing by the training chambers. Covered in sweat, shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, prepared to strike, Nyx had to admit that Ignis looked utterly tantalizing. The Glaive had to duck around the door, blood rushing, so that he wouldnā€™t be seen. Embarrassed and unable to speak, he warped away.
Today, Nyx was scheduled for desk work, having pulled another unauthorized stunt. Rather than rot in the uncomfortable chair he was assigned, the daredevil opted to join in on a round of training.Ā
Everything took place inĀ  the main grounds: a large round room with an open corridor running along its perimeter and a stone tower in the middle of the sands stretching to the ceiling. The goal was to make it the top of the tower before the enemy snipers saw you. It was a drill Nyx had run a thousand times.Ā
What he didnā€™t know was that Prince Noctis and his advisor would be watching today.Ā
Nyx and Libertus were almost through the drill, having easily evaded snipers to this point. The pillar was in sight, two more warps and theyā€™d be done. Taking the lead, Nyx threw one of his kukris toward the center of the pillar. It lodged into the stone backed by precision and godly strength. Almost instantly, Nyx hung from its handle.Ā
While scanning the area for enemies and his next warp location, the Glaiveā€™s peripheral vision caught something that glinted in the light. He turned his head, expecting to see a scope. Instead, he saw glasses...and the face that haunted his dreams wearing them.Ā
Ignisā€™s face looked so calm, so pristine. It was the sort of beauty only Michanglo could capture. The sort that would then be put on display in a museum for everyone to admire...but never touch.Ā
In his moment of wonder, Nyx lost track of the mission and his reactions. In what seemed like slow motion, he saw the kukri rise above him as he fell towards the sands below. In the corner of his eye, he saw the advisorā€™s panicked face before the world turned black.Ā
When the Glaive opened his eyes, he wasnā€™t sure if he was conscious yet. Above him, he saw the face of an angel. ā€œHeā€™s awake,ā€ Ignis cried, helping him to sit up.Ā
Libertus fussed over him as his superiors gave him shit for a rookie mistake, but all Nyx could focus on was Ignis.Ā
Before he really thought out the words, he let his heart say what it had been crying for so long.Ā
ā€œIā€™m sorryā€¦ā€ It wasnā€™t more than a whisper, shared solely by him and his savior.Ā
He was so sorry...for leaving without a word that night, for never contacting him, for never speaking to him, for how he felt, for...everything. The feeling had been bottled up inside of him for so long that it felt unreal to say the words.Ā
ā€œOh, think nothing of it. Iā€™m simply glad youā€™re alright. Mistakes are a natural occurrence! I trust you shall learn from it!ā€ The advisor helped to dust off the Glaive before pushing him away.Ā
It was in that moment that Nyx remembered he was wearing his mask. Too embarrassed to say more, he awkwardly nodded and jogged away.Ā
Back in the locker room, he stopped just inside the door. He threw his hood off and ran his hands over his face before unleashing the fury in his heart on the nearest locker. It was another moment...wasted.Ā
Nyx lashed out at himself for being so stupid, for being so heartsick. It wasnā€™t how he needed to act. He had embarrassed himself in front of the only person he wanted to impress. It wasnā€™t fate that kept them apart, it was Nyxā€™s own stupidity, he was sure.
Without purpose and completely horrified with himself, Nyx returned to wallowing. For weeks, he refused to go out with the other Glaives, opting, instead, to return home and lounge in his bed.Ā
The moon glowed overhead when he finally fell asleep, one night. Rarely did he dream, but when he did, they were awful. This was to be no exception.Ā
Nyx was in his apartment, warm and comfortable on the sofa. In his arms, was him. Ignis looked up at him, smiling warmly. Overjoyed, Nyx silently pulled his angel closer, burying his face in his neck. Content to just lay against his partner, he closed his eyes.Ā
He was startled by a burning sensation in his hands. Looking up in panic, Nyx found Ignis to be gone. His apartment was replaced by a darkness and purple flames. The Glaive jumped to his feet, only to discover he was ankle deep in water. Disregarding his surroundings, he started to desperately search for the man that had just been in his arms.Ā
He cried out the name he whispered so often, but no sound left his lips. He tried again with the same result. His frustration only made him more determined to find another way.Ā
Desperate to not let Ignis slip away, Nyx set off through the darkness. The flames licked at his skin, burning hotter and hotter. But the Glaive pushed through the pain, knowing he had to protect the one he cared about.Ā
On and on he ran. Now, where the flames licked turned to ask. First he was missing his ribs, then parts of his arms. But there was an end in sight. Up ahead, he swore he saw the tall figure of his angel.Ā
Water sloshed at his feet as Nyx ran. His chest burned, even his heart burned, but he pushed on. Frantic now.Ā
There he was...he was so close...just a bit furtherā€¦
As Nyx reached Ignis, he fell to the ground. His legs turned to ash and blew away. His vision was being distorted as his whole face turned to ash.Ā
He reached out to Ignis, desperate to touch the man. But as he did, his angel erupted into purple flame.
ā€œNO!ā€ The words tore from his ashen lips before they fell away.Ā
But Ignis did not hear him, for he fell to the ground, crying out in pain.Ā
Nyx watched in terror as the same fate befell the man before him: Ignis cried out through the mounting pain as he slowly turned to ash that floated away.Ā
As badly as Nyx wanted to stop Ignisā€™s fate, he couldnā€™t reach him. With his remaining hand, he tried, stretching his fingers towards what was left.Ā Ā
ā€œNo, donā€™t goā€¦ā€ the he whimpered. Before Nyx could reach his love, though, the Glaive completely turned to ash.Ā
Nyx awoke with a start, sitting up in a sweat covered bed. He breathed heavily, the images he just saw still playing out in his mind.Ā
ā€œDo you accept his path?ā€ a voice in the corner asked.Ā
Nyx turned suddenly, locking eyes on a dark haired woman in traditional garb. She faced the ground with closed eyes, never moving from her position. He reached for his blades but found them missing.Ā
ā€œYou have been given a fortune. Do you accept it?ā€ She asked again.Ā
Finally, Nyx thought he had enough understanding to answer. To him, the decision was obvious.Ā
ā€œNo.ā€Ā
The woman smiled. ā€œThen I can help you.ā€ She looked up, ice blue eyes locking on Nyx as she glided over to him.Ā
ā€œIf you so accept my assistance, swear this to me now. Swear to become his guardian, under the power of this star. Swear that you shall sacrifice all to protect that which you love without regret, hesitation, or weakness.ā€Ā
Love? Nyx had to pause.
Over and over he repeated the word in his head, as though tasting it. He worked it over his lips, feeling the sound of it.Ā
Terrifyingly...it fit perfectly.Ā
ā€œFor without you, he is already destined to darkness,ā€ the woman added.Ā
That was it. How could someone so amazing, so utterly perfect for changing the world be destined to something so horrible?Ā
ā€œWonā€™t you gods give anyone a rest? Can nobody be happy?ā€ Nyx burst, staring at the stranger.Ā
Her smile became warm as she looked at him and tilted her head. ā€œThat is why I am here.ā€Ā
And all of the pieces connected.Ā
The Glaive realised, in that moment, that if he didnā€™t protect his love, no one would. If Ignis was to find happiness, only he could help him. Regardless of the sacrifice Nyx would have to make, he was determined to save the man he loved.Ā
ā€œI swear.ā€Ā
The woman smiled as she nodded. She reached out one pale hand and tapped Nyxā€™s heart. Dust that sparkled like diamonds burst from her touch.Ā
ā€œThen it is so.ā€Ā
Nyx awoke, again. He sat up in a sweat soaked bed, frantically looking around. His room was empty and his kukris were on the bed stand next to him. Everything was normal.Ā
Outside, the dark horizon was tinged with orange as the sun began to rise. Sipping on fresh coffee, the Glaive had to ponder if it all had been a dream.Ā
It had to have been, but it all felt so real. In his head, he heard his motherā€™s words: ā€œNever question the message of a dream, just be thankful when you understand.ā€ Was this a moment to simply be thankful for? Did that mean he had just promised to protect Ignis?Ā
The Glaive sat back in a worn out chair. How could he protect the royal advisor? Be his bodyguard? Or be...close to him?Ā
He shook his head at the prospect. How could he ever explain what had just happened? No one would believe him. Especially not the other Glaives...
An idea came to him! He could protect the man he loved the best way he knew how: as a Glaive. The Kingsglaive watched and protected from afar, never leaving the shadows. That is what Nyx could do. He would watch over his love, protecting his happiness, even if it never included him.Ā
While the prospect of his mission stabbed at the Glaiveā€™s heart, it also brought him great peace.Ā
With a newfound purpose, Nyx smiled. ā€œIā€™ve got your back, love,ā€ he whispered to the empty room.Ā

I put them both in one post.
I have a brother 10 years older than me and a younger brother and sister 5 and 7 years younger than me respectively. I call the older by his name, and also ā€œdudeā€ a lot. You know those twisty metal puzzles you have to figure out how to take apart or put back together, like puzzle rings and shit? He can do those in seconds without even thinking about it, like, idly while talking to you. Heā€™s a daredevil bombs and blades tinkerer, and a practical joker. Once he told me he was getting out of the lake because it was noon and thatā€™s when the sun shone straight down to the bottom and woke IT up, and then got out and snuck halfway around the lake to climb back in and swim up from underneath me to wrap a hand around my ankle and suddenly yank me down about ten feet at an angle toward the center of the lake. He went to jail for building a bomb, itā€™s a good thing they never found his other homemade weapons, like arrows with exploding tips, or the underslung potato gun mounted to the frame of his car. And I SAY potato gun but I saw him use his tester model to launch a wad of duct tape through a truck camper shell at the junk yard in the R&D phase, and he use to load it with a wad of something for batting topped by a snapple cap and a handfull of roofing nails and disintegrate mail boxes with it. He is a good wood sculptor and has a surprisingly delicate yet raw style when drawing with charcoal or graphite. He can take apart and put together almost anything. I could just write a whole book about his antics.
With my younger brother itā€™s mostly his name and ā€œdudeā€ quite often. Every once in a while, I will call him bro, or brother, but usually when I am low-key reinforcing our age difference. Like if he thought mom would react one way to something, but I had seen her reaction to that same thing before he was born or whatever, like, brother, Iā€™ve known her longer. He is one of two people I know personally who may be legit geniuses. He used to play video games in the early 90ā€²s by hacking their code and modding them - Iā€™d walk in and heā€™d be 12 years old like ā€œInstead of cannon balls, I made the cannon shoot cows that bounce around randomly a few times and explode, and Iā€™m trying to make it so that each time a cow bounces, it spawns another bouncing cow bombā€. He has aā€¦ I want to say a Masters in Physics. His math teacher in high school tried to hold his interest by having him teach the first 15 minutes of each class. Once when the rest of us siblings were all standing around talking about sneaking out of the house, we asked if he ever did and he was like ā€œwhy would I sneak out in the middle of the nightā€¦ thatā€™s when I sleep.ā€ Now heā€™s a very mellow polyamorous hacker who brews his own beer and ā€œisnā€™t allowed to tell you where I work, itā€™s so sillyā€
Our youngest I call by her name, and dude a fair amount, and a combination of the word sister and her name (like if her name was Brittany I would call her Sisttany) I do call her sister more than I use brother for my fraternals, but she calls us all brother quite a bit. Ā I think there are some complex reasons for that, but it boils down to her having been teased terribly and given a very hard time growing up by us, her brothers, who had a certain alliance against her. Of course by now weā€™re forced to admit that she is awesome and special and maybe the best of all of us. Certainly the coolest. Like, my younger brother is hella cool on paper, but when youā€™re in a room with him, heā€™s a little.. the only way he pulls it off is by truly not giving a fuck if people think heā€™s cool, which, as we all know, instantly awards coolness to whatever youā€™ve got going. On the other hand, when my sister is in a room, people laugh when she decides something is funny. Someone else is often making the decisions, but everyone only agrees to go along with them if sheagrees with them. Sheā€™s not wearing those clothes because they are cool, those clothes are cool because sheā€™s wearing them, Once she worked at the same hotel I did for a while, and I asked her what she thought of it, and she said ā€œI only ever want to work in a hotel again if I OWN itā€. She was 19. She once knocked out her (now ex) boyfriend for forcefully taking his car keys away from her too roughly when heā€™d been drinking. He realized what heā€™d done too late to save him and she pulled him down from the fence he was climbing to get away from her so she could lay him out. She ran her own business for a while doing marketing stuff for publications and wineries and things, but she felt she was working too hard for the return she was seeing, and now she works for some firm overseeing the people who manage their social media or something.
And then thereā€™s me, the Bard of the group, basically. I travel around on lots of adventures (I was arrested by the US airforce in Germany, I got stuck in England for a summer when they took my passport away from me at Heathrow - I stayed at a circus school with a few of the circus students who had no real home to go back to for the summer, and I put together a circus busking group with some of them and thatā€™s how I made enough money to eat every day.) I used to write and produce full length comedies for the stage. I was SO sure I was going to be a con-artist, so I studied slight of hand and magic ( I ran a crooked poker game at recess) but as a young adult, when I picked my first pocket, I found I had no taste for stealing from real people (Iā€™ll fuck up Coke any day, whereā€™s Amazonā€™s pocket? Side note: I tapped the guy on his shoulder and handed his wallet back to him and said ā€œI think you dropped thisā€ and never picked a pocket again, but I can still do some pretty interesting stuff with cards and coins and things, Juggle knives and torches. that sort of stuff). Anyway, I adventure, and I write songs and stories, and my siblings mostly call me by my name, and very occasionally, dude. Also, my origins are steeped in mystery and my siblings are actually my cousins by blood, but thatā€™s another story. Okay, here is that story.
My Grandmother was left-handed and the reason I love cooking and definitely some kind of Being. Her title was The Grandma. She had 4 great grandchildren by the time she died, and so her daughters became Grandma, but she was THE Grandma. She had this way about her, like she was incredibly present, but also paying attention to everything in the whole world. And then sometimes (notably when you fucked up) it was like she pulled her attention off all those things and put the whole thing on you; it was very unsettling. And she had the Voice, which she almost never used.
The last time Grandma traveled on an airplane with us, we were going though security and she couldnā€™t go through the metal detectors because by then she couldnā€™t get out of the wheelchair for longer than twenty seconds at a time. The TSA agent said she was going to search her or pat her down instead, and reached for my Grandmother. And Grandmother said, in the Voice
ā€œDonā€™t touch The Grandmaā€
The TSA agent blinked and looked at grandmaā€™s eldest daughter (a celtic witch if ever there was one) who merely shrugged and said ā€œā€¦donā€™t touch the grandmaā€.
TSAgent hesitated as if about to reach forward and insist, thought better of it, called TSA Supervisor over. TSA Supervisor explained everything to The Grandma - itā€™s just a quick pat-down, everybody who canā€™t go through the detectors has it done, they wonā€™t even ask her to stand - and then reached forward to pat down my grandmother
ā€œDonā€™t. Touch. The Grandmaā€
TSA Supervisorā€™s hands stopped as if hitting glass. She looked confusedly back and forth between the TSA agent and my grandmother for a second, and then the confusion left her face and she stepped aside, looked at the TSA agent and said ā€œDonā€™t touch the Grandmaā€ and waived us through security. They didnā€™t even scan the rest of us
Itā€™s a shame she couldnā€™t fly anymore after that, she loved to fly; when her first husband died, she married P, a WW2 B52 crewman who taught her to pilot small planes, and they would fly up and down the coast to any cities they wanted to visit - she knew the West Coast in a way few people do.
One morning in the deserts of Nevada a year after Pā€™s death she woke me up and said ā€œget dressed, were going to into town to the casino; P visited me in a dream last night and told me Iā€™d win a video poker jackpot with a royal flush todayā€ and we drove into town so she could spend fifteen minutes playing video poker. I say fifteen minutes, because after fifteen minutes she hit her jackpot with a royal flush in hearts, and we went back home.
She used to sit in her chair in her living room with her back to the kitchen wall, and Iā€™d go to leave the kitchen and Iā€™d hear her from the other room ā€œdonā€™t you leave my kitchen mat like thatā€ and Iā€™d look over my shoulder at the mat in front of the sink, and sure enough, it would be all rumpled up; sorry grandma.
Grandma and I shared a birthmark, a red stain I wonā€™t describe fully. And my grandmother and I were both adopted. Let me explain.
My Grandmother was adopted by a nice family.
And then that family all died, and she was adopted AGAIN.
She grew up and married a man whose Irish father I am named after: K, who came here from Ireland to work the Alaskan gold rush. She and her husband lived with his father K for a while, and this is a story about that:
Every Sunday. great grandpa K would go off on his own for a couple hours to ā€œwalk in the woodsā€. Grandma followed him one day. K walked into the woods, packed a pipe, sat down with his back to a tree, and took a small handful of nuts and seeds and fruits and leaves out of his shirt pocket. He scattered them around. Soon, as if expecting him, several animals came and helped themselves. The squirrels climbed all over him, on his head even. The raccoons sat in his lap. The birds sat on his knees and shoulders and in his beard and peered into his face. The deer checked his jacket for more snacks. After they hung out for about an hour, they all went on their way. Then K smoked his pipe and went home.
Grandma and Kā€™s son had 5 kids.
One died as a child.
The eldest became an ER nurse and a savant witch. She would never admit she is a witch, but thereā€™s a horseshoe over her door (not the front door, mind you, but the door she actually uses) and sheā€™s the one who taught me to always leave a single spider in your house when you clean. She has a natural way with plants and animals - Ā the deer eat everything but her herb garden, which isnā€™t even fenced. This year one of them stayed in her backyard for nearly two months raising twins to be big enough to take back to the herd. She recognizes the individual squirrels and birds in her yard and knows their personalities and habits and things about their families. And of course as an ER and ICU nurse, sheā€™s a hell of a healer.
The youngest was a witch, but sadly neglected, remained immature. Still, she had talents. She could fool people and make them laugh as easy as breathing, like some kind of glamour. Every long line of strangers she ever waited in became a party among friends. Could literally smell if you were lying to her. As in, sheā€™d lean close and take a couple deep sniffs and then be like ā€œNope. Tell me, where did you really go after school?ā€
The only brother became a wandering holy man of sorts. Used to hitch-hike around the country in robes and junk, with a small, like, cult; then he quit them to just grow his own holy experience. He died in his 30s.
And the middle sister was my mother. She was double jointed and very dyslexic, and everyone says she was incredibly gifted in many ways. She did intricate artwork in ink, fractal gardens and faux woodgrain that was made of salvador dali faces, stuff like that. She was self taught on the piano, used to just walk up to a piano and play songs she made up on the spot that sounded how she was feeling and little crowds would gather. Made her own exercise equipment. Could pick up an accent within minutes and become semi-conversational in days. She had me with a half Japanese guy in the Air Force (he didnā€™t stick around). Then when I was about three, she sent me to live with her eldest sister, because her life got too, ah, interesting. Like, her partner had a hit put out on them. It wasnā€™t safe for me. By the time I was six it all caught up with her, and she died in an accident when she jumped out of the passenger side of a car and tried to run away as it stopped at a red light.
Thatā€™s when her eldest sister adopted me. The paperwork was messed up and my name is different on my birth certificate, my SS card, and my ID. Then, the person who filled out the ā€œmessed upā€ paperwork was fired, but Iā€™m still a mystery to the bureaucratic world.Ā Ā
So here I am, same birthmark as my psychic grandmother, orphaned son of a savant creative criminal and a Japanese-American soldier, named after my Irish, gold hoarding, bearded, pipe-smoking beastmaster great-grandsire; raised by a celtic witch, hidden away from the official world. Sometimes I feel like all those hero origin stories are trying to call me out of hiding. More about my adventures soon.

The Reddit MarvelStudios AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Clark Gregg, May 16, 2017 (click here to read all the questions)
A: (out of sequence, so no question): Well, this week I'm really missing Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe because we lost them and they were both such excellent guys.
A: Missed a few questions there. I'll try to answer some. I love the MCU and love watching the movies and I miss my friends in those casts. That said, I am really proud of where we've gone with Agents of SHIELD and I love this bunch of actors and writers (and crew) as much as any I've ever worked with.
Q What upcoming MCU property are you looking forward to the most? Tahiti is a magical place! A: Anything with Adam Warlock and that may have just been teased in GOTG2
Q Do you have any stories and/or favourite memories of working with the late Bill Paxton? Thanks! A: So many. Just the big grin he'd show up with every day and say, "Bud-dy..." Just a great guy and a wonderful actor/filmmaker with more stories than anyone I've ever met.
Q: What is your favourite MCU movie? A: Pretty damn psyched for Captain Marvel especially with the amazing Brie Larson
Q: Hi! Thank you so much for being SO awesome. In Avengers, when Coulson has been stabbed by Loki and gets to shoot him with the massive gun, he says "oh, that's what that does". What do you wish that gun had done? A: Gone off on its own a minute earlier.
Q: Hi! Thanks for doing this. What's your favorite hand? And if you could have any new hand for your character, what could it do? Thank you! A: The SHIELD attachment does not suck
Q: Hi Clark! Thanks for doing this AMA and everything you've done for the MCU. Love your portrayal of A.C. (Daisy needs to bring that back imo). Have you had any input or influence on the development of Coulson? A: I have some input but most of the great stuff on our show is straight from the writers. Ā  Dream storyline involves saving the Defenders and the Avengers and the Guardians and the Royal Family and everyone in Legion when they get themselves in trouble with Thanos. In a musical episode by Lin Manuel Miranda. (Hamilton)
Q: u/70astralaxe wanted to ask you those question but he coudn't so I'll Phil in [sorry for the pun...] Ā  Ā Favourite Star Wars movie. Ā  Ā Favourite MCU movie. Ā  Ā Whether he had any "holy shit" moments during script-read/when filming a scene. Ā  Ā What he wants for the future of MCU/SHIELD. Ā  Ā If he is planning on doing non-MCU stuff anytime in the near future. Ā  Ā Favourite Ice-Cream Flavour. Ā  Ā Favourite Holiday Destination. A: I'll pick 2. Empire and that coconut something from Ben and jerry's
Q: Clark, it was great seeing you at Denver Comic Con last year. I was the one who told you I loved Choke as well as the intro you wrote for Avengers: Endless Wartime. My question though, do you have any projects coming up that you are writing/directing? Choke was 2008, and Trust me was 2013, so I was hoping we were due for something else soon. Thanks, love your work. A: Writing a film and a sci-fi pilot. Hope to make something next hiatus.
Q: When Joss called you up about Much Ado About Nothing, what was your reaction? Did you get any say in your role? Have you done any other Shakespeare? Thanks for doing this AMA today! A: I was terrified when Joss called, but excited because I had just had a dream I was doing some Shakespeare and it felt ordained. And I love Joss.
Q: Have you watched GOTG Vol. 2 yet? A: Yes. Laughed my ass off.
Q: Hello, What's your favourite MCU movie? Also, what does RDJ smell like? A: I'm a big fan of the Avengers and anything with Cap. Or Stark. Or Thor or the Guardians. Or Strange. Let's face it, I'm a Marvel slut. Robert smells like warm beaches and babies laughing and a freshly washed thong.
Q: What kind of changes in perspective on your character did you work on to bring the 3 different versions of Coulson to life this season? We've had Agent Coulson, Robo Coulson, and Mr. Coulson. What was the most fun about doing that? Also, minor question, do you happen to know what brand / model of glasses you were rocking in the Framework? (I tweeted @amandalynnriley, but alas no response). A: It was fun to have new takes on Phil. Amazing work by the writers. Especially geeking out teacher Phil with his soap. The glasses are called Barton Pereira (sp)
Q: What would like to do for a living if you weren't an actor, besides dominating in lip sync battles? A: Music something. probably not very well. But I loved being in a band. A lot.
Q: Hi Clark! Awesome for you to do this before the big season finale. How do you think your character has changed between now and the beginning of Iron Man 1? In other words, do you think your acting of Phil Coulson has changed that much in 9 years? A: Ah, jeez, I don't know. The character has been through a lot and gotten older, so maybe he's less innocent and a little darker, but I probably am too. I don't know about the acting. I try to forget that's what it is.
Q: Do you read your fanmail? If so, what's something cool a fan has sent you? A: I do. I get amazing stuff and try to answer it all. I've been sent crocheted blankets and lola pillows and maybe some underwear.
Q: Thank you for putting your all into Coulson. He's my favourite character in the entire Marvel universe. As for my question, how much of Clark has gone into the role? Specificially the frequent Star Wars references... is that your input or does it come purely from the writers? A: The writers and I love Star Wars and couldn't imagine Coulson wouldn't as well. There's a bunch of me and then some stiff that's verrrrry different from me.
Q: More serious question: One of the things I love about AoS is how men and women fight each other as equals. But I've wondered if that took the male actors a little getting used to, going all out punching and kicking female actors. Did you find that awkward at first? A: Definitely. Really did not like punching May or Daisy even though neither was a real punch.
Q: Hey Clark! Huge fan of your work in the MCU. My question. Did you know that when you died in the Avengers that you would be brought back for SHIELD? Thanks! A: I did not. Neither did they. #CoulsonLives gave them the idea. So thanks.
Q: What's the weirdest thing a fan ever asked you to do? A: Sign a boob. But it was a big boob so I wrote my full name and then Agent Coulson.
Q: With the amount of time Coulson has been spending in the field in AOS, it has become more and more unlikely that the Avengers wouldn't know that Phil is still alive. Do you personally think any of them know? A: I really wish I had a good answer for that, but I don't. Some day.
Q: Yo Clark! I'm sure you're gonna get a bunch of marvel questions and that's awesome. But I know you're a basketball fan so this is my first question. Who ya got winning the finals? And secondly: Any advice for someone who's dream is to work within marvel either on the tv side or movie side? A: Warriors look soooo good. To work for Marvel it helps to love comics and marvel and then just try to be really good at what you want to do there.
Q: Hey Clark! Read any good books lately? A: Yes. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Mirukami
Q: What was it like meeting Melissa Benoist for the dubsmash battle? And have you met any of the other CW heroes? A: I think she's amazing. Loved her in Whiplash. And the fact that she took part in that for charity made me love her even more.
Q: I've been marvel fan since my early childhood, having been born without half of my right hand, my parents and superheroes have always been the biggest source of inspiration. Even in my wildest dreams, i couldnt have predicted these last 10 years, what MCU has achieved and how popular these stories would become all around the world, in that way im living my childhood dream- to see it all done well on the silver screen. What is even crazier- I wouldnt have predicted that the Son of Coul, a shield agent from phase one movies, would start his own show- his own team. Over the years, Aos became , in my humble opinion, the best that superhero tv shows can offer right now, and most recently, even a better source of fun than some of the MCU movies. Past week, i have been buzzing, that we re getting another season. Mostly, i want to say THANK YOU, to everyone who helps to make this show what it is, a source of inspiration and fun to look forward to almost every week. Thank you Mr. Gregg, for breathing life into this awesome character, and also for motivating me in my own studies, and career. I just wanted to express my gratitude, and ask, recently, the Ghost Rider, LMD and Framework arcs have cemented the greatness of this show. When you got first approached to make a shield show, did you think it would end up as such a compelling characters, stories, effects and going for 5 seasons on a small screen? Did you have any doubts? Was there ever a moment when you got a script/shot a scene, where u said to yourself : "Wow, this is amazing" ? Thank you, wish you and the whole cast/crew all the best in making another successful season. A big fan, all they way from Slovakia A: This made my day. Thank you.
Q: What did you think of Iron Fist on Netflix? Do you think it deserves the criticism? What would you have done different if you were the showrunner? A: I love Iron Fist. Both seasons. (then...another reply) Oops. I meant Daredevil. Didn't sleep too well.
Q: Do you remember your time on The Shield well? Great performance. Any fun stories from the set? A: My friend David Mamet directed and the character was so uhinged I felt wrong afterwards. Also, Billy Gierhart who has directed the most eps of AoS was the cameraman on that ep.
Q: As a big fan of What Lies Beneath and Choke, can we expect to see you work behind the camera on Agents of SHIELD any time soon? A: I may direct an episode in season 5. if I don't pass out from exhaustion just thinking about it.
Q: Jed Whedon recently made his directing debut in SHIELD's episode Self Control, which is probably my favorite episode of the show now. What was it like having him direct? Do you think we can look forward to more episodes helmed by him? Great job this season by the way! Coulson's speech a few episodes ago rocked, Captain America would be proud A: jed was amazing and that may be my favorite too. He better direct some more or we'll drag him down to set and make him.
Q: Hey Clark! Thanks for coming by! In about a year we'll be coming up on Iron Man's 10th Anniversary, which means you'll have been playing Coulson for 10 years. How does that feel? And, if you could have Coulson appear in any Marvel-related property, what would it be? A: Wow. Ten years. I feel very lucky. I could have been stuck that long playing a character I didn't love in a world I didn't care about. #Grateful
Q: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been renewed for a fifth season, but does not appear on ABC's Fall schedule. Obviously, it will start later, but we've been getting mixed signals. Do you know if Season 5 will be a full, 22 episode season or has it been shortened? A: Yes. Full season after the 8 eps of The Inhumans. Then we do our whole run. Could be cool that way.
Q: Can you tell us anything about today's AoS finale? A: Coulson will change.
Q: This is also a question from my girlfriend, who is at work and can't ask herself: Do you think Phil and May will have a happy ending? A: I won't touch that one.
Q: How would coulson react to meeting the defenders? A: He would geek out. But who knows, maybe they would too.
Q: Two questions: first, I'm currently binge watching the West Wing and I have to ask what it was like working with dialog written by Aaron Sorkin? Ā Second, are we ever going to see your wife, Jennifer Grey, on AoS? A: Aaron's dialogue is like no one else's. I did Sports Night, TWW and A Few Good Men on Broadway. So I'm lucky. He did a lot to put me on the map.
Q; Hi Clark! Thank you for doing this! I canā€™t wait for tonightā€™s finale. Can you take us through what it was like auditioning and successfully getting the role of Coulson? Did you ever imagine that the role would develop and expand like it has over time? A: Never auditioned. Got an offer to play a part that was two scenes in IM. Then they added more and more scenes. Cut to Phil nine years later about to walk into the season 4 finale where he will finally (REDACTED)
Q: Clark, you all have been doing such a great job over the last few years. Why do you think Agents of SHIELD has resonated with so many fans around the world? A: Because thanks to the cast, crew, the writers and Marvel the show keeps getting better all the time. That's very rare.
Last Words From Clark: Thanks so much of the great questions. Sorry I couldn't answer more of them. Acting in an independent film today so I have to run. Join me on the twitter for the S.4 finale tonight. Love you all.
