Scout x reader who's never been to a baseball game before (ROMANTIC)

(I was bored and wrote this, I actually have been to multiple baseball games before but my ass still doesn't know anything about it. Reader's gender neutral as always. Trying to get better at writing oneshots so have this ig :/ Word count: ~1400)

It was strangely calm that day, it was one of the occasional days off that the mercs had. You sat on your bed, reading through some random magazine you’d picked up here or there when your boyfriend Scout barged in. “Hey doll!”

You continued flicking through the pages of the magazine, not flinching. You’d gotten used to this after a year of knowing him and two months of dating him. The door might as well not have existed at this point. “Yes?”

“Wanna go to the game today? With me?” he said, flashing you two tickets in his hand.

“What kinda game?” You looked up.

“Only the best game to be created,” he said with a smirk. “Baseball.”

You shrugged. “Sure, I don’t have anything else to do—” you barely got out before you were tackled with a hug by Scout, your magazine falling somewhere on the bed as you were wrapped up in his arms. “Jesus, you’re that excited, huh?”

He only chuckled and kissed your cheek. “Hell yeah I am! I get to have my two favorite things, baseball and you, dollface.” 

You roll your eyes and give him a kiss on the cheek back, relaxing into his arms for a moment as you soak up his warmth. “...wait, am I below baseball?”

“Uhh…”

“Bye Engie! Thanks for the ride!” Scout yelled out as Engineer drove away in his pickup truck, leaving the two of you to the sea of people waiting to get in despite the insufferable heat. 

“Geez, are there normally this many people at these things?” you said as you held onto Scout’s hand to not lose him as you walked to the back of the line for the ticket booth.

“What, ya never been to a baseball game before?” he said with a laugh. It was a rhetorical question from his perspective, but not for you. 

“No.” Scout’s jaw dropped. 

“W- whaddya mean you’ve never been to a baseball game before, w- why? How?” In his mind, baseball was the most amazing game in the world, and it was simply a crime that the most amazing person in the world had never seen it.

You shrugged. “Just never did.” Scout was full of feelings about this. On one hand, you were his dollface and it hurt that you had been deprived of one of the greatest pleasures life could offer. On the other hand, he got to be the guy to introduce you to your first baseball game, which had the same significance as a first kiss. In his mind at least.

“D’ya at least know the game? Like, how it works?”

You thought for a moment before saying: “Um, you hit balls and run a lot?”

Hoo boy. Scout sighed. “I mean- you ain’t wrong but ya ain’t right. Listen doll, so there’s nine guys on each team, right? And one of the guys is the pitcher for the inning. The pitcher, he’s the fella who . . .”

“. . . and then the outfielders, once you have those fellas you can get somethin’ called a line drive where it hits right to ‘em without touchin’ the ground–”  

It had twenty non-stop minutes of Scout explaining the entire concept of baseball to you, and if you heard another way a ball can be thrown you were gonna snap. You took his face in your hands and kissed him before another move could be explained. 

His ears flushed red and he froze for a moment after you pulled away. “Uh, what was that all about, doll?”

“I love you but if I hear another word about baseball I’m gonna lose it. Can I just watch the game with you and enjoy it that way?” you ask. 

“Fine, fine—” he cuts himself off as the two of you are both hit with the realization. You said I love you. Shit, shit, shit shit shitshitshit!

Before you can stammer out a sorry or any other form of explanation, the woman in the ticket booth says “Next!” and you’re left to panic while Scout gives her the tickets.

We’ve only been dating for a few months, is that weird to say? It must be, he didn’t say it back. Maybe he didn’t hear me? No, he definitely heard me. Oh god, I fucked this up bad, fuck—

“Hey dollface, she said we can go in, c’mon,” he said with a smile, squeezing your hand and leading you into the stadium. You two found a spot in the bleachers, luckily under the shade of an awning. You nervously bounced your leg as you prepared for the game to begin.

He’s not treating me any differently, maybe he’s just gonna ignore that I said that. Please, god just ignore it. 

“Geez, real anxious to see the game, huh doll?” he said to you with a smile.

“Yeah, yeah.” Maybe this would all be okay, another normal date. Just ignore that gross feeling in your gut and it’ll be fine.

It was not all fine. Everytime the word ‘love’ came out of Scout’s mouth you couldn’t help but feel a growing annoyance. And he said it a lot.

“Man, I love that guy!”

“ —fuckin’ love this hot dog—”

“Love the view, right doll?”

It’s like he was rubbing it in. The gross feeling, the loud noise and the tight packed crowd all teamed up to give you a headache. Great. You distracted yourself from the feeling by leaning into him and eating your popcorn, desperately trying to understand the game in front of you. Maybe you should have listened a little more to your boyfriend’s explanation. “You cold dollface?

“Nah, just tired and have a little headache, ‘m fine,” you said as you popped another piece of popcorn in your mouth.

He wrapped his arm around you so you could have more support. “We, uh, don’t have to stay if you don’t want to, y’know. It’s the bottom of the fifth if you wanna get out of here.”

“No, no, it‘s fine, gotta stay for my first baseball game. Besides, isn’t that rude to just leave?”

“Naw, it’s fine. ‘S pretty normal not to stay the whole nine innings for your first game. ‘Sides, I don’t want you to feel like shit. We could go to a game some other time, how’s that sound?”

You smiled softly. “Sounds perfect.”

“Good, now c’mon,” he said as he picked you up in his arms to carry you out of the stadium.

“Jeremy, my head is the thing that hurts, not my legs. I can still walk, you doofus,” you laughed. He kissed your forehead. 

“Whatever you say, sweetcake, but I’m still carryin’ ya.”

It was dark out, and Jeremy had just finished calling Engineer on the pay phone while you sat on a nearby bench: Scout’s jacket draped over you. Only a few people milled about, leaving to their cars underneath the street lamps.

Jeremy sat down next to you, reaching to hold your hand. “Engie’s gonna be here in ‘bout ten minutes...you alright doll?”

You delicately took it. “I dunno…”

“Did anything happen?”

“I mean, kinda? It’s stupid though, dunno why I’m getting so focused on it.”

“Can you tell me?”

You took a deep breath and looked at the concrete. “Well, I don’t know if you actually heard me, but earlier I accidentally said that I love you. I- I mean, not accidentally, I do, but it just, y’know, slipped out.”

“I heard you doll,” Scout said, tilting your face up to look at him.

“Then why didn’t you say anything? I mean, I get if you don’t love me yet, I’m not gonna blame you, but just say something.”

“I didn’t say anything because I didn’t know if you were bein’ serious, doll,” he said, scratching the back of his neck. “Y’know, you’re amazing and sweet, and almost every time I’ve liked someone this fantastic they’re just with me for laughs.”

“Jeremy…we’ve been dating for two months, did you really think that I don’t care about you?”

“Well I mean, two months right. I kinda thought you would’ve already said ‘I love you’ by now, so just- I dunno. . . do you actually love me?”

“Of course I do, Jeremy, I just was nervous because I thought I said it too early,” you said, leaning closer to him, looking at how his face caught the light of the street lamp.

“I love you too,” Scout said with a dorky smile before pulling you close and kissing you. You probably would’ve kissed for much longer but the sound of a truck horn interrupted you. 

“Hey lovebirds, get in!” Engineer shouted from the truck.

Scout pulled away and blushed before getting in with you, holding your hand tight the whole time.

This makes me super excited to talk about, tbh he deserves his own post anyway!! Cause hoo boy there's a lot to unpack!! Forgive me for all the words, takes a lot to get to the main stuff.

Also thank you to @danklemckspankle for helping with a lot of the details. It's a collaborative project 💪

Let's get into it, shall we??

So! Ford in this au didn't get his science fair project wrecked by Stanley. Now Stan did drop it, but funny enough, to Stan's hopes it did work. Now that might sound like a copout, but it actually is a very damning event for Ford.

Ford gets the scholarship, and goes to West Coast Tech. He thrives, but amongst all these other geniuses he's just another face in the crowd. Now he's busy at school, but he doesn't get the research grant for Gravity Falls because he's just another smart guy.

He returns home after college and his father is expecting him to have millions and already have a job and a bunch of money. But Ford tells him that he's looking into it and doesn't have anything yet. He needs to stay at home until he can get an opportunity, but his father doesn't take too kindly to that. He kicks Ford out. Unknown to Ford, Stan isn't waiting at home due to also being kicked out. So Ford thinks his whole family abandoned him. He thinks Stan is out adventuring the world. So he's all alone without a place to stay.

Ford has already heard of Gravity Falls, even going as far to write a thesis on the weirdness of the town. But it wasn't what the college wanted, and they even went as far as to reject the thesis and the request for a research grant. So now Ford is stuck.

He does odd jobs around the states and winds up in Gravity Falls. One of those jobs landed him a place in the town. Now he hasn't commissioned Boyish (not yet Manly) Dan to make the shack yet, so he couch surfs. He does research on the side for Gravity Falls, eventually finding a cave painting of a weird zodiac and a triangle.

He summons Bill, and they make a deal for Ford to make a portal for him. Ford requests that he has a partner in knowledge and power in return. They shake on it. You need to understand that Bill isn't yet all sad boy in this as he is in the original au, cause it'd be a bit hard to change an integral part of him. Just bear with me for now!

Now Ford isn't well acquainted on the engineering side of things, so he's in a bit of a pickle.

But!! Lucky for Ford, there's a southern hick a couple states away that matches his smarts! A scientist named Fiddleford McGucket made a personal computer that while expensive, Ford managed to get his hands on! This guy seems promising, so Ford reaches out to him with a request and shares his thesis on Gravity Falls to hopefully drag him in.

McGucket loves it! So they agree to work in Gravity Falls together and they build the portal.

On the side however, Ford is talking with Bill. He fills his head with dreams and visions of acknowledgement. It's everything he's needed and more. It kinda goes to his head as he ignores personal needs like eating in return for the dreams. The dapper dorito eats up the seeming gullibility of the scientist. Inflating his ego to the damn heavens at this point.

Ford and McGucket have been arguing on the side as the research gets back seated. After a test with the portal, McGucket falls in and sees what's on the other side. He tells Ford something is wrong with the project and goes radio silent for a couple weeks before returning back in hopes of convincing Ford the dangers and hoping to see it through.

At this point it's important to note the Gremloblin incident didn't happen so the memory gun has not been made. Despite McGucket's hopes the portal is almost finished at this point and it seems like it's all Ford cares about.

Eventually an altercation arises as McGucket realizes Ford is not stopping. He tries to tell Ford of the danger and what he saw. He says he misses time with his family and wants to go home. Nothing is right anymore and he's being plagued daily with nightmares and declining mental health.

Ford is fed up at this point. He comes to a realization, that everyone has only ever told him what he can and can't do. This is his one shot, a chance to make everyone see. Everyone see him.

He pushes McGucket into the portal.

Oopsies. That's a problem!! Welp. He has no assistant now. Now granted, Bill is real happy for interruption being gone, but good ol' Sixer doesn't work with engineering. Someone else has to step in!

So Bill gets on his case now. Even tho McGucket has been dealt with, the portal isn't finished! So he threatens him, simple threats really. Stealing eyes, puncturing holes in a lung, just basic stuff.

Suffice to say Ford isn't happy about this. He's being rushed, and he already had a hell of a reawakening. So he starts to get back at Bill for his harping. Using his power to harness the portal. Experiments to see how he interacts with the world, testing the limits of Bill's body. All under the guise of research. On a...base level of course! All research is important, but Bill has become an obstacle on his own.

Bill was never his muse, just....a means to an end.

So Ford calls Stanley. Of course he doesn't forgive him for not asking about him, but that doesn't matter now. There's more important things to tend to. His brother has actually ended up making money, if the number of commercials he's seen on the television says anything.

He keeps Stanley at arms length, never actually letting him see the portal. Vague explanations of an important project, he just needs Stan's funding and some parts, he can handle the heavy lifting. Lest someone meddle into his work again

He has another side project on his mind, a little bunker somewhere in the woods of the town. In case of a cataclysmic event, or man eating creatures. Do he gets Stanley to help build it for him. Floor planning, parts, doors, tech and all that.

The interactions between them are kept to a minimum, to keep from bothersome questions and meddling. Eventually Stan has enough from the cold treatment and backs out, saying he's got better things to tend to. (In a future post I'll probably elaborate more on Stan :] )

So Stanley leaves. Keep in mind it's the 90s now, and even if technology improves, this isn't a one man job. No matter how much Bill likes to say he's support. You could say Ford is more focused on the portal than Bill, who had the idea in the first place! But whatever, it'll all be worth it once it's done.

He figures maybe he could do this alone, the last two people turned out to be hindrances, so maybe for a year or two he could try his luck.

Of course he gets side tracked with messing with Bill, with his harping on the portal growing less and less. He even....starts to slowly change color? Growing less yellow and more dull. That's something to research more! His research is definitely not humane, but Bill isn't human! He's a triangle! So what does it matter? This won't have repercussions!!

When Bill possesses his body from time to time, he tries to mess with him, but it weirdly doesn't deter Ford, only spurs him forward. Anything to test the limits of Bill. For science!

The couple years of working alone don't prove at all very helpful. Unfortunately, it looks to be like he needs a new assistant and he needs to get back on track. That bunker won't make itself!

So he calls someone new. The last two people proved to only be hindrances, and he actually went easy on Stanley all things considered. But he needs to be more hands on!

So he calls a lady who just moved to Gravity Falls with her husband, someone unaccustomed and unbiased. A one, Mrs. Gleeful.

She is decent enough as an assistant, proving actual decent company. Being that she doesn't question the work or interrupt. She does what is asked, serving coffee if needed, or getting spare parts.

It lasts up until late 2003, where she reveals she's having a child with her husband. She needs maternity leave, but she claims it won't interfere! So long as she swears.

She has her child the next year, but something changes. A couple months after, she makes the same claims of her family needing her. Claiming they're more important than the project.

This doesn't go on well. A spark goes off in Ford's brain. The last time this was brought up it didn't go well. So he digs up old blueprints, something he was working on when McGucket was around.

He erases parts of her memory when he calls her back. Her thoughts of her family are gone, they don't exist in her brain anymore. He tells her they're roommates working on a project, and convinces her to stay.

If she questions him or asks about her family he erases her memories again, and again, and again.

This goes on for a year, and eventually her mind turns to mush. Leaving her a crazed shaky husk of a sensible woman. She is too crazed to work with anymore, so he kind of sets her free like an animal. Throwing her into the woods for whatever creature out there.

Word reaches round of a missing woman relating to a researcher. This naturally reaches Stanley's ears for his penchant for gossip. He tries not to assume the worst and visits Ford.

Ford is so sucked into his work, solidifying his previous belief of doing work on his own. The portal is just one move away from opening, Bill has shut up, and no one is in his way.

Until Stanley. He visits, and sees the man Ford has turned into, and all hope he ever had is gone. He decides to needs to do something about this, stop whatever his twin is up to.

He leads him to the bunker to talk. But when his fears are confirmed true, he punches him. Brass knuckles reluctantly worn. The altercation results in cracked glasses and shards of glass cutting an eye, Ford goes blind in his left eye.

With the man injured, Stanley leaves the bunker and closes it, locking his brother in. No amount of begging or yelling will get Stan to open the door.

During the time he was alone, Ford had a creature in the bunker to study. It was thought to be too dangerous, but that same claim doesn't hold up anymore.

He still has the contract with Bill. So the two are trapped with Ford. The only ones to talk to for 7-8 years. He pushes his anger onto Bill, and talks to the Shapeshifter in spare time. The only beings to talk to for so long does things to your brain. Not good.

So when eventually two young kids open the bunker, he has some plans to set in motion, particularly considering a certain triangle.

So!!! That's the overall idea, ofc to elaborate on more when I talk about the mystery twins and Stan since that could tie more things in. And also weirdmageddon (normageddon? Fordmageddon?) would have to be it's own thing.

But uhhh, art!!

This was a little idea of what Ford would look like post bunker, or after getting out. (Ignore the lack of sideburns this is all I have rn)

Bill changes his name shortly before the mystery twins summon him, cause like. Oof. Separate himself from the guy that outcrazied him!!

Probably a future post about Bill would be better, cause like the physical, emotional, and mental torture he went through is kinda glossed through in this. It's mostly Ford heavy and on his side of things.

But!!! I had fun establishing all this, again my friend is to thank for a lot of this stuff. I recommend following or sending an ask to get his side of this!!

Also apologies for the wall of text, this man is a loaded gun.

Oh also he couldn't have gotten out of the bunker since it remained semi unfinished, since Ford focused more on the portal. So he's trapped until into the bunker 🤷‍♀️

Heyy!!

I’m unhealthily attached to the Lost Trio and HoJ is worsening my problem, I’m in LOVE with your way of writing them and developing their relationship!! You’ve asked about MoA scene suggestions, so I thought why not?!

Ever since I read HOO, I’ve been intrigued by Octavian’s connection to Reyna and Jason, but if I’m not mistaken, it’s not a topic Rick R. dug into and I’d be thrilled to see what you could make of that trio’s past relationship while the group visits Camp Jupiter.

Also, Tyson is my favourite gentle giant who got side-lined too soon in the books T_T, I think there’s a good opportunity to have him build a friendship with Leo whilst they’re building the Argo II, for example, Tyson insisting that he can help out with the heavy lifting (because he's excited to revisit his brother and take Annabeth to Percy so she can be happy again because she's Tyson's favourite girl!) and Leo having a hard time accepting and declining his offers at the same time, cause he could use the help but he still has his walls up around Cyclopes because of what happened at his first encounter with their kind and he generally likes working alone.

Of course, these are just some thoughts, please don’t feel pressured into writing them, especially the second one, I don’t even know how it could fit into MoA with everything else!

First of all, please take my hand. We can cry about the Lost Trio together. The whole reason I even wrote HoJ was because I became unwell about these three, so getting to share that love with people just like you has been BEYOND amazing <3 Than you SO much for reading and letting me share this with you <3

Ooooh, as for Octavian I am weirdly obsessed with this nasty little boy. I do actively dislike him and basically everything he's ever done, but I want to study him like a bug. I want to put him in a little cage and periodically zap the floors just to see what he would do. I do actually have a full Octavian-centered fic going into what his and Jason's relationship was like pre and post Reyna and also everything he was going through during the series somewhere in storage that I like to think about, but I've never made anything solid out of it. I may wind up doing something like it but condensed down and from Jason's POV and put that in my Baby Grace's series. Not ENTIRELY sure yet one way or another.

Oh, Tyson my darling baby boy~! <3 I do really REALLY like the idea of him and Leo getting to bond! I think it would be neat for him to have -a fire-proof friend. I think that would for sure be a fun relationship to explore during Argo II times. Leo's hesitance towards him is also a really neat detail for you to bring up because he would have a lot of really fresh memories from his little encounter with Ma and her boys. I've never written anything with Tyson in it, so I think that would be a good challenge!

51. Welcome Home! Chibi-Robo! Happy Rich Big Sweep! (DS, 2009)

Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! is an absolutely amazing sequel to the original Chibi-Robo! for GameCube

Taking elements from all previous entries to create the best game in the series yet.

Hoo boy! This game floored me, man!

I genuinely didn’t expect this to come close to the original considering it’s on the DS of all things but man I’m I glad to be proven wrong.

Ok! Let’s get straight into this I am excited to write about this.

Welcome Home! Chibi Robo!'s story takes place in Jenny Sanderson's house (from the first game!! yknow! The frog girl!), the house is in really bad condition as jenny and her family are quite poor.

In order to help with the finances and keep the house clean, the family saves up for a chibi-robo to help with those tasks.

You have your work cut out for you from here! Clean and make cash in order to make the life of the family better.

Pretty simple.

And from there... here I go rambling about the gameplay and story. OH MAN I HAVE ALOT TO SAY YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS GAMEAGH....

Let's start with the gameplay... holy shit it’s so good man

So. how do you go around? it is a 3D DS game after all... how do you control the game?

... with the touch screen- HEAR ME OUT IT WORKS

While not as comfy as the original, the touch screen implementation is really well done! you grow quite used to it and because of how its set up, the dpad is dedicated to camera control which works out great!

Because of how you are likely to hold the device there L button is there for some extra actions mapped to it! ... that I will get to later.

Controls are alright!

Let’s put in place some basics. Chibi-Robo runs on a small rechargeable battery. You have a timer on you at all times. every second you stay still or take a step, your battery goes down.

Everything you do uses battery which creates this fun loop of trying to look for a charger every time you are low on power.

This has been standard for every game in the series. you do well and after a while you get a battery upgrade to explore more comfortably.

Actually, this game makes the loop even faster by not making every plug a save point which was an issue with the original. In the original every time you plugged into an outlet the game would ask you if you would like to save which was... annoying past a certain bit. Here the only save point is your chibi-house which works out. I do get why the original was made like that, the Sanderson’s house is massive so being able to save anywhere helps a fair bit but the smaller design here makes it so that wouldn’t make much sense.

What about that smaller design eh? how’s the house

Jenny's house is so damm fun to explore!! despite the cutback in CPU power due to being on the DS, Okaeri! Chibi Robo! has an immense sense of scale. areas truly feel hugeeee and there is a nice use of verticality that I will also get to in a bit.

The game also looks quite good! of course... not as good as the original but for DS standards its quite nice and stylized!

Despite having less rooms than the original. I’d say it does a way better job than the original Sanderson's house in making a lot with less space.

We have a Living Room, a Kitchen, a hallway, a bathroom, rooms for Jenny and Keith (Jenny's son) and the backyard

They are all full of things to do!

Same as in the original, you can also enter a wide variety of small areas inside those rooms like the chimney, the couch, the AC (when you buy it), the water pipes, a hidden ghost casino... I won’t explain that one, under the house and so on!

There is a lot to explore which makes going around a joy!!

Chibi's arsenal is a bit different this time around. No chibi copter this time, as the need for it vanished when falling damage was removed (which is a godsend here btw), no blaster or radar, no mug or boombox from park patrol made a return but the spoon, toothbrush and the squirter (featuring its park patrol look) did make a return!

And there is the inclusion of a few vehicles you can use to speed up your travels

But the most important out of all them is... the vacuum cleaner.

This is the most important part of the gameplay loop.

The vacuum only works when plugged into a wall which creates a lot of interesting scenarios where you have to see how to get to certain places or clean certain things that are out of your reach.

you can only go as far as your cord cable extends. you can upgrade this with cash at the chibi-house but for a while you will be struggling to clean everything with how small your cord is.

anyway, by vacuuming dust and cleaning dirt. you increase a rooms Sparkle Rate, which indicates how clean a room is.

The cleaner the room, the more upgrades and furniture you can buy for them!

The more you clean the more money you earn

When you fill one dust bag... you can use it to sieve for gold and gems.

This will be your main method of making money for most of the game!

If you clean a lot, you get a lot of gold which is a significant amount of money.

and with the thrash you clean off, you can generate more power to the house... Oh yeah, the house runs off recycled waste which makes gives the player an incentive the clean!

No cleaning? No power, No Power? No Chibi Robo

So, the loop is Clean > Sieve > Buy > Repeat

While a game about cleaning may sound boring... it has one trick up its sleeve... one thing that changes this whole game to make it one of the most fun things ever... the cord throw...

When grabbing your plug over your head, you can hold L to start swinging it around, when its full charged it can be thrown a long distance (as long as your cord length is long enough) which leads some fantastic verticality not possible in the original

The original chibi robo had a problem with verticality where going up was a pain and falling down was too punishing. it was frustrating specially with the 15 minute time limit per day but okeri just... does not suffer from this one bit because you can do stupid shit like this in EVERY ROOM IN THE GAME.

... YOU SEE HOW THIS IS FUN RIGHT??

While yes you can’t do this as soon as you start, it’s still immensely rewarding getting to this point

Everything in okaeri feels like you are working towards something. You see your cord length go even farther than before, you see the house look nicer and nicer with more furniture you buy. Okaeri Chibi-Robo is an absolute joy to play because of this, your progression is displayed so clearly.

To go back to launching the plug for a second, every aspect of the house is designed with it in mind. A lot of plugs are put in a way so chibi can climb up there even with a low cord length so progression is usually not gated.

in no moment do you need to have a max length cord in the whole game so don’t worry about being short on cord.

Ok so the gameplay is great and has a great sense of progress... what about the story and characters

Starting with the toys!

Theresss a new set of toys in this game! Only one set familiar faces are here, that being of the free rangers and their underground explorations.

They are all so charming and fun! their side quests are all an absolute joy to get done!

I actually did all of them for my playthrough and was genuinely surprised when I didn’t have more of them to do. I genuinely wanted to do more of them but there wasn’t any more to do.

I loved doing Habanero's, Ketchup's and Iberico's side quests. those three were my favorites. no shade to the toucan phone tho, that was fun too.

All of them give you unique costumes with unique powers that are activated by pressing the L button! The police outfit lets you shoot with L, you can swim with the diving gear with L, you can pull out a guitar with ketchup's outfit and so on! its cool!

It does have less content than plug into adventure sadly but it is what it is, It is a DS game after all and it does enought for me to be satisfied with.

Okay so I set the basics down with why are you on Jenny's house... well as you continue to help you start seeing how the family has certain troubles apart from poverty...

You see her, her son Keith and the family dog, Lucky at all times but never Karl, Jenny's husband... and Keith makes mention of how he wants to see his father again after progressing the story enough.

After Keith says that, at night you can visit Jenny where she tells you the truth.

Karl, passed away in an accident before they could get married, Keith was born before they could get married.

Jenny never knew is Karl genuinely wanted to marry her or not as he often joked around the idea...

Okaeri Chibi Robo is a that deals with topics of loss in its own unique way as you help the family cope with the loss of Karl.

Jenny tries to move on, dating a guy she met at work... but Keith can’t let it go, getting mad at her mom for doing such a thing as she was devoted to his father...

After a while. you help Keith cope with all of this and you even get to talk to Karl's spirit

You realize that he did want to marry Jenny all along and you help him make the wedding Jenny never got.

The game ending with Karl and Jenny's wedding under the moonlight.

Karl's spirit passing away to the afterlife with no regrets, saying good bye to his family.

I could keep going but me making a summary like that is a disservice to how well done everything is.

In some ways its goofy but it’s so earnest and earned... in ways only chibi-robo can do.

The characters help the story a lot, they are all well done, you feel for Jenny's struggle as a single mom and how Keith misses his dad. You can’t help but feel sorry for them which pushes you to try to help them get out of poverty

The main cast and the side characters are all fantastic and enjoyable. They are one of the best parts of Okaeri! Chibi-Robo, managing to capture the charm of the characters found in the original game.

Okaeri Chibi-Robo is a wonderful experience that I don’t think I did justice here. it’s a game that you truly have to experience by yourself to have a good idea of how unique and fantastic it is.

Its def one of the best games I’ve played this year and I left out a lot of aspects of the game on purpose in order to entice you to find out things by yourself.

I love this game... there’s not a lot of games out there that can be goofy and as heartfelt as chibi robo...

one point taken off because... it is dragged down by being stuck on the DS, most sound effects are heavily compressed and don’t sound the best and the music isn’t that good honestly... which is a huge shame as skip is known for their oddly catching melodies in their games (Specially in Plug Into Adventure and Captain Rainbow)

Hello there Akuma! Yep yep, so many ideas that just pop out of nowhere. No actual plot line for some, but still ideas. One of which I am almost done with! It’s a SAMS fanfic that I am SO excited to post, but just wanted to make sure to finished the thing first so I wouldn’t abandon the fic for too long between updates—I really hate leaving a fic unfinished (and those that are unfinished literally sit on my lungs), so I decided to finish it first before starting to proof read it and publish it. I am around 80 % done, I guess, since I don’t actually have an ending planned for it.

I have another SAMS story but I don’t have much ideas for it. The reason why I made it is because I wanted to see two characters together and I had to squeeze my mind for an idea for it. It is fun to write them (since they’re both my favorite characters), but being short on ideas suck. Not to mention that I don’t have time and that I am working also on My Baby fic.

I have another idea that’s gonna be a sick fic (because I am a sucker for these kinda fics), and I have some ideas for it, but no actually plot, just hurt/comfort (another thing I am a sucker for). This one is still an idea that is plaguing my mind, but I do want to find a sort of plot line before starting to write anything (not to mention that I would like to keep my excitement in check for when I do have a plot line and time, so I would actually have motivation to write it and not get burned out).

Another idea is inspired by something that happened in real life that I feel guilty for, so I thought writing something for it would justify a bit of my guilt. It will be a sick fic/baby fic/and a hurt/comfort kinda fic. I have chapter one half done and a few drawings for it, but it is on hold because every time I think about it it just brings kind of bad memories. I adore baby fics when it is with my favorite characters turned to babies, but for some reason this idea (which kinda do have a plot line) is heavy on my hands. Not because of the angst, but because it makes me feel guilty, bringing more and more memories to mind. I find that to be silly—My Baby fic has a lot of things that actually happened, but for some reason (maybe because Sun and Moon are the one taking the abuse and not reader) it doesn’t actually trigger me by any means. If anything, it inspires me.

There is a mafia idea, but it is just a small idea because I was angry and thought of the most cruelest way to torture someone in my mind, and I kinda imagined it as a mafia fic.

Hoo boy, that’s a lot. I am chatting your ear off at this point. There are a few other ideas, but as I said, they’re just ideas without a plot line for me to actually make anything out of. They could work as one-shots, but I still am unsure. I am trying to focus on three fics as of now (My Baby fic included, of course), so I do hope I would have more time.

Who I Am is the kind of story I was looking for in the HDG setting, thank you very much for writing it. The exploration of the affini's... pressure (for lack of a better word) has really really drawn me in and I'm excited to see what else you may be cooking up.

thoughts on 1989 TV?

I've not yet actually listened to the whole thing because of life hectic-ness, namely foot surgery that has made fun things like Consuming Music I Love suck a lot. So I'm listening all the way through today while I do some scanning for work! In general, everything sounds so much crisper and I am LIVING

One Piece Posting

so i finished the Skypiea arc recently. and hoo boy I understand why no one talks about this and why I had no idea this all happened. While the idea of the crew going into a sky island filled with angel people and a mysterious golden city is pretty fun and exciting, the whole arc was just kind of........... Okay

Especially following the Alabasta and Baroque Works stuff its just like, kind of that but worse. The vassals dont really get enough screentime before the fights to be fun and the fights with the vassals arent as compelling as the previous fights in the series.

One Piece has a lot of fun worldbuilding and powers but wow I just do not care about dials. The whole idea of "press a button and a thing happens" is just so boring and most of the time they're not even used in any interesting ways. Just "haha i touched you with my kills-you dial, i win"

Eneru (or Enel I guess depending on where u read it) is probably the highlight of the whole arc. He's really charismatic and has a sort of kefka "fuck everyone i got mine" vibe thats fun to watch. Plus his whole brutally strong devil fruit powers that take out the straw hats instantly is REALLY fun to juxtapose against how his powers just do Not effect Luffy. His "Kingdom Come" attack was also really cool. My issue with Eneru is that he's kind of just a less fun Crocodile and his fight goes on..... way too long oh my god.

All that said, however. The final ringing of the bell of shandora was pretty fuckin' cool. Leading up to that, as soon as Luffy's hand gets stuck in a big golden ball you kind of know where it's going. When he rings the bell, though, and theres like 6 pages of it just going CLAANG it feels really powerful and emotional.

Idk if the foxy and long long stuff is counted as a full arc? but I am just now starting on the Water 7 stuff and I'm excited because I've heard this is like the best part of the series so! lets go

I really like writing characters and how they interact with each other. I'm also kind of good at writing dialogue.

Also known as Querencia, this is one of my first projects, and it has been sitting on my brain shelf, gathering dust, much like some other WIPs and ideas I have.

This one has gone through SO MUCH. From being about soccer to an omori-like way of exploring the human psyche. In the end, I settled with a normal highschool experience. Exciting, amirite?

Jayne didn't directly go to the classroom that day and ended up befriending a bird. As she hears rumors of a suicide attempt by a former 9th grader, the young writer becomes determined to make a change this school year one way or another.

Ginintuang Baril (Golden Gun)

This is actually inspired by a script that me and my classmates wrote for our year-end performance task. I really liked the concept and the characters so write a book I go. I also might make some comics about this.

Dreams of rebellion carries from one life to another. Guerrero Magsalin wanted to be a journalist in a way, despite living in poverty. Opportunities for change start to present themselves as he meets a thrifty freelancer, an infamous governer, and a priest he's known since childhood. The situation becomes more complicated as he starts dreaming about hazy familiar faces. There are just some things that never change.

Something that Involves Modernized Filipino Authors (ft. Other Authors of different nationalities)

Greatly inspired by Bungou Stray Dogs by Kafka Asagiri. I want to see what happens if you modernized these guys and make them fight.

But seriously, I am curious how this little side project is going to go.

I'm going to need to do A LOT of research for this.

A little idea that I had when I wanted to practice writing romance. It'll be in an episodic format where the cast just go on their adventures.

About a young man who's somewhat new to college life and is already getting peer-pressured into dating and getting into a relationship. So, he starts his journey to find a date, despite being absolutely clueless on how courting works. Along the way, he meets people just as clueless as he is when it came to conventional romance. Hoo boy.

I have no idea where this one came from to be honest. I wanted to draw guns one day and bam! Story idea.

I'm still not sure where the story is going to go, but it's set in a post-apocalyptic world where people of different nationalities are forced to gather together in order to survive in a dying planet.

hoo boy ok I’m done! those meetings were super productive and now I have a LOT more to think about. the impulse to work on work stuff is going to be very strong this weekend because I’m so excited but I am resolving here & now: no work on the weekends. I sat down and mapped out my key to-dos and meetings for the first two days of next week, so I’ve set myself up well to hit the ground running on tuesday. but from now until tues 8am: work brain off! relaxing and being a human brain on! I am going to spend the weekend sleeping and going for loooooong walks and writing and cooking elaborate new dishes just for fun.

Last night I was telling Ken I was stressed about work today because I haven’t made enough progress since my last meeting with my boss and I had one scheduled this morning. Well, this morning my boss pinged to say he’s offline most of the day as he’s taking his wife to the hospital. I feel awful for him (his mother and several other people close to him have all passed away in the last month, so it’s been a lot all at once) and I hope she is totally fine, but I’m also grateful for the extra day to prep for our meeting.

Ken and I snowboarded Saturday and then yesterday we did yard work. Today I am wearing a wrist brace. The work was fun and doing it together is a fun bonding time, but hoo boy I’m feeling it today.

Ken also leaves today for two nights away for work. Theo and I are excited to go to bed whenever we want (8pm here we come!!) but I am going to miss him. At the same time, I wish he was going for longer. If I’m going to miss my husband, I’d at least like to have enough time to tackle some solo projects while he’s away. As it is, he’ll be back before I know it and I’ll be lucky to have even done laundry in his absence.

WUPDATE: CALL ME ICARUS

Imma be honest y'all, I haven’t been able to write as much since the semester has started. I’ve got 3 in-person classes and 2 entirely asynchronous online ones, and hoo boy are they a doozy!

On top of that, I had a concerning personal situation happen over the weekend. I don’t want to give away too many details as it’s not my story to tell, but I had a very close friend go missing for a couple days. I’m used to this and it wouldn’t be a concern except apparently he was 5250’d?? But he’s back now and alive and that’s all that matters!

So far, we have started on Chapter 3 of Call Me Icarus. I’m 392 words in, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’m fucking ecstatic about it rn.

Anyways, the excerpt from what I have written is under the cut as per usual!

Excerpt from what I have written of Chapter 3:

Gravel and glass crunched under Icarus’ boots as he made his way through the dark alleyways of downtown. The early morning sun did little to light up the alley, but he knew where he was going and didn’t need much help finding his way.  The pungent smell of stale beer and dried blood filled the air. This wasn’t uncommon for the area, per say, but that didn’t make it any more pleasant to smell. No matter how many times Icarus came this way, he still couldn’t acclimate to it. Luckily, he wasn’t far from the destination.  The shop - if you could even call it that - was in the basement of a run-down hotel. The shitty sign pointing to the door was falling apart, faint Greek letters decorating it.  (diagram of sign that says Τελεταί)

I’m really excited for this scene, and that definitely shows seeing as I am hitting my first bout of writer’s block with it! I know exactly how I want this to play out, but getting it on paper is another beast entirely 😅

I'm fine with x reader and keeping them anon / up to interp is a good choice! I will say though with the stuff going on in Kepla and Lore's story romance from outsider characters isn't a great idea, their relationship is not only VERY complicated with each other but anything involving a human person would probably end up with them heartbroken or dead with how fucked up these 2 are LMAO. I love my lil guys but they are.. hoo boy, they need work 5. Some of my favorite tropes are hurt/comfort, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, best friends to lovers, miscommunication, unresolved tension, and pretty much anything else you're willing to throw at me because I am not too too picky. I'm a very crafty person, I like using my hands and shit to make stuff I like to look at! I hope to get a big ol' sewing machine soon to work on making my own overalls and work with demin and leather! I love working with clay although I sssssSUCK on a potters wheel so I'd like to get better with that. I know basic welding...ish it's been a while, I know how to 2D animate, I love wood working DUDE-I just like gettin' my hands dirty in fun ways.
