did anyone else pick up on how many of the cases weren't from the victim's point of view? it's happened 3 times so far (4 if you count daria? she's complicated) out of seven cases. tma in comparison has 130 out of 154 statements (i am only counting s1-4 because s5 messes with format) (if the numbers are a bit funky please note that i hand counted them so i apologise for that). of course, we only have six episodes of protocol, but there is clearly a difference and i can still make a post out of it.

maybe it's because we aren't only getting stories from the survivors now, as other people have mentioned

but also, those accounts from the perpetrator remind me somewhat of statements from avatars. needles' poetic, ominous manner of speech sounded similar to statements like jane prentiss, manuela dominguez, etc. (side note: needles was very corruption in my opinion. calling the stabbing/other violent actions an act of affection was definitely reminiscent of jane and the hive, just saying). others have pointed the parallels between jonah magnus and the violin guy, but i'll do it again: guy obtains much power via acts of violence, and despite knowing it hurts people this guy continues to see the skill and power with a cost as a blessing, keeps the origin of the power secret and passes it onto another person, who they tell the origin of the power to and bestow the power upon this other person, who did not ask for this. samuel webber's contentment with his new form while retaining an underlying sense of fear is comparable to avatars who love and fear their entity in equal measure.

as well as this, these cases seem more directly aligned with tma entities. magp 4 is extremely slaughter, and resembles mag 42 (grifter's bone). magp 3 is corruption, and mag 6 is also corruption in my opinion (i think people agree with me on that?).

i'm sorry i haven't planned this out i just noticed something and spent an hour typing on my phone about it. tell me your thoughts in the tags, i'd love to see someone make an actual theory about this!

Item Number One: Viperhound Is S Tier

Item Number Two: opposites contrast

Orange and Blue, extremely Sun and Moon energy, but I don't think that would make this ship sail smoothly. See, Luka likes being a moon. He is happy to support and enjoys being someone's shining beacon in the endless dark of night, and no one needs that kind of anchor to hold onto more than Sabrina right now. Sabrina cut ties with her best and only friend and while we see her hanging out with other classmates just fine, we don't really know how she is with being actual friends with people. I don't think anyone has tries to reach out to her since evillustrator and we saw in that episode how she approaches new potential connections. Overwhelmingly cheerful and warm and oppressively clingy, like a ray of sunlight that won't leave your eyesight on the hottest day of the year. She means well but, boy, she can be a lot. And more importantly, she needs to be the one helping because, what kind of friend is she if she isn't? Who is she if she's not doing everything for everybody else? It would, amusingly and annoyingly and endearingly, put her into conflict with Luka, who is similarly always pushing his own problems aside to help people with theirs. This would lead them into a loving rivalry of "take care of yourself" "no u" that goes both ways, a back and forth that ends with them reluctantly letting the other help them. And after so many years as someone's shadow, Sabrina deserves to have someone in her orbit, someone she shines a light on when he needs to be seen.

Item Number Three: YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE

Look I'm SORRY okay, but I have to say this even tho I also think their ship got done dirty by the show, I still think they wouldn't have lasted. I think Marinette and Luka being "too easy" is exactly their problem, as even if they didn't have everything else to worry about Marinette needs complexity or she starts to lose her mind overthinking things and goes looking for it. The simple nature of her relationship with Luka is what 13 year old Marinette needed, the Marinette who wasn't Ladybug yet, who hadn't stood up to Chloe and maybe even just had her heart broken in a mean prank. It makes sense she'd fall in love with and gravitate towards this living embodiment of all the comfort and security she wished she had, she had desperately needed at that time. But that's just it, she needed it then. And now she can rely on herself a lot better, she has a whole support system to fall back on, and what she needs from a romantic partner is something else. But Sabrina? She's done horrible things in the name of her friendship with Chloe and even enjoyed some of them, but had finally hit her limit of how much abuse she can both dish out and take herself. Sabrina can definitely recognize that Luka is a good person, but more importantly Luka would have to actually try to sympathize with a person, rather than just immedietely like them. Lest we forget, Sabrina is the one who locked Juleka in the bathroom on picture day. Chloe told her to but Sabrina physically did it. Being confronted with someone who hurt his sister but is, herself, hurting, and is determined to help everyone but herself will be a lot of conflicting emotions for Luka, and Sabrina would need to get used to being the center of someone else's attention in a way not entirely dissimilar to how Chloe was for her, although significantly less codependent.

What makes Lukabrina interesting isn't that they're perfect for each other or that it's immedietly easy.

It's awkward and messy and they clash, they push each other out of their comfort zones and find a new one to settle in together.

It isn't instant or love at first sight, but by resolving their issues with each other through communication, honesty and trust, they are able to become a happy and wholesome couple.

Don't fucking tell me the odds lol, I know they're probably not winning but they deserve a fighting chance. So please feel free to add your own Lukabrina Viperhound propaganda!

COD Fanfic Collab Feeler Post (Poll at bottom)

Hello, my lovelies! I am thinking about hosting a fic event built around the idea of "exquisite corpse," where everyone writes a little bit, but no one knows what anyone else is writing until the very end, and the result is a finished piece of bizarre fiction.

🚨SOME GROUND RULES🚨 (I may add more if more come up. Yes, I am a hag.)

There will be a central theme to unify everyone's pieces, though the end result will still be weird AF, like a glitch in the Matrix. There may also be a tone as well, but I'm still deciding on that.

In total, this would be a month-long event, with a maximum number of participants equal to the number of days in that month. So if we do October (which is what I hope to do, but we'll see), a maximum of 31 participants. For November: 30. You get the picture. If the event does not gain enough participants to max out, whoever has joined by the cutoff will just go again, and we'll cycle through until the end.

This would run a bit like a baton relay since each person's contribution builds on the previous installment. For example, I'll start the fic as number one (because it's my event), then send the last sentence to number two. Number two sends their last sentence to number three, and so on. Due to this, TIMING IS SO IMPORTANT! We want to be able to get through everyone's posts in a timely manner since we're not all writing at the same time; we're doing it in a chain.

For that reason, WRITING would take place the month before, and each writer would schedule their post for their assigned day at noon during the event month. So, if we really are going to be doing a Halloween fic, then writing would take place in September, with each post being scheduled for the writer's assigned day in October.

If this is a thing that will happen, I will be making everyone a shitty event banner to place at the top of their post with the event and their entry number so people know this is a chain of fics, and appropriate links to the beginning, previous entry, and next entry should be included in your post to support your fellow creators and help readers navigate the bullshit of this thing we're building together. (I understand that some links won't be able to be added until the posts are public.)

A common event tag should also be used but I haven't decided what it is yet. Probably "#cod exquisite corpse" to keep it simple.

Everyone gets a word count CAP of 500 words. So LESS THAN 500 words is ideal! If you go over 500, those extra words will be cut off, and whatever is left in that truncated sentence is what will get sent to the next person to finish and build on as their prompt (so be kind to the person after you and don't go over).

Smut is okay (tag your post with appropriate warnings - I will say no CNC or non-con for this, sorry), but I will challenge everyone to use gender-neutral!Reader and/or canon x canon to keep everyone on the same page and to let as many people have a good time here. If that doesn't sound like a good time to you, you don't have to participate. If you need tips on writing gender-neutral smut, please leave a comment, and I'm sure our lovely community can give some tips.

Please also watch for POC-inclusive writing, as not every skin tone blushes, not everyone wants/can have fingers running through their hair, etc. Again, if you need help with this, there have been MANY posts floating around in the community if you've missed them. You can also leave a comment, and we'll see if we can get some tips together.

Please be inclusive about body size, in both height and weight, so that our tall and fat Readers can get some love too. As such, there will be no size difference kinks for this event. I realize that making a "perfectly neutral Reader" may be challenging (and "perfect" is a loaded term), but I know it's doable, as I've seen people do it. If you don't want to do that, no one is forcing you to participate.

No killing characters since that's a major continuity issue lol. 💀 There will already be enough continuity issues with people fucking every other chapter with zero further mention of it, but that's beside the point.

And finally, keep it light, keep it fun, AND BE KIND. Fandom is supposed to be silly-funny, so let's get along and make our dolls kiss everyone.

I realize this is a lot, and honestly, this event may not pan out. It may be a lot more like herding cats than anything else. I'm just making this post to preemptively determine how much interest there is before I go making event banners and stuff and wasting my time.

I feel the need to note the over use of wrinkles and shine was just amano's art style at the time of varia arc and the present designs when in rainbow arc don't have that as you can see with mammon. I just could not find good full body images from rainbow arc which is why they're all from Varia arc. so if that is your deciding factor I'm sorry, that is not part of the actual design of them as the exact same uniforms in rainbow arc do not have this situation to them.

This one is actually a Ra’sTim one! The name comes from that silly song/trend on tiktok that goes “I am going to see my husband, I’m happy I’m happy to see my husband” 😂 Basically Tim gets captured by League of Assassins ninjas and they bring him to their master. They’re very proud of themselves and have absolutely no idea that Tim’s like “I haven’t seen Ra’s in a long time, I missed him so much!” So they chain him up and make him kneel in front of Ra’s throne and Ra’s is just so done 😂 I mean, he’s never against his boyfriend (husband? I haven’t decided yet) being on his knees before him but can we please meet like normal people just once? Meanwhile Tim is having the time of his life lmao

And for the second question, um. I needed to make a google spread to get the numbers right which I’m not showing you because it’s embarrassing xD Also, a lot of my wips don’t have just one main trope because there are some that have for example both fluff and comedy or both hurt/comfort and angst buuut basically the numbers are pretty equal.

Fluff and angst are the same amount, then there’s comedy/crack a little lower, and surprisingly smut has the same number as hurt/comfort unless I’m stupid and I’m counting it wrong. Oh and there are also a few that I marked as ?? because I have no idea which one they are (but that’s mostly because I’m so bad at tagging lmao) Like for example The siren’s song and Fae Slade that I already talked about here are marked as ?? because… they’re both not quite angst or hurt/comfort and definitely not fluff so.

In a previous ask, you spoke about not being interested in the Soul Fighter event & that’s part of your explanation for distancing from League - which is valid because it does suck, but still. Again, I know it’s selfish and it seems like I’m policing your posts and your blog, but it’s genuinely just confusing.

It just sucks, because the number of VikJayce content creators has gone down so much in favor of Spiderdads, which, yeah, that’s just how the Ship Circle of Life goes, but it’s still disappointing to watch happen.

I am reblogging those things because the same people who like my vkjc work may find that they enjoy my different fanwork as well, and that's a win-win situation. I have moved on from interest blogs before without a single nod to my new user and gotten messages from old followers about them missing my stuff, which is why I am actually reblogging now for anyone who wants to keep track of it.

I get that it may be a bummer to see less vkjc art for a while but to anyone reading this ask: You Can Still Make The Art You Want To See. I was pretty much working off fumes and my own individual interest to make fanart here and I'm not special for it, I was just the guy who took initiative. Please make bad art. Make things you're unsatisfied with so long as they speak to your internal interests. Make sort of mid stuff until you start making really good stuff. Don't rely on the whims of anyone else to maybe someday do it for you; that's how good things never come to exist.

I genuinely stopped checking AO3 tags for an entire year+ as soon as fandom trends started bothering me and went to sit on a corner to do my own thing. I did that for so long a bunch of other people ALSO got interested in the game version of these characters! I believe in you. I would really encourage you to distance yourself from the 'ship lifecycle' mindset; vikjayce itself has been around for over 12 years and it still hasn't been nuked off the face of the earth, which should say something about how long niches can last. It does rely on a collective effort to make things happen though, not just one or two guys. You should find the thing you see as most enjoyable and make it happen.

But I'm having fun working on something else at the moment, and that's an equally worthy pursuit!

unironically i started playing honkai seventeen days ago just for aventurine and I think I'm physically ill for this man. like gahhhh hes so silly. i have nearly 80 pulls thjat ive spent literally all my time grinding for, and I'm at 60 pity and I will literally kill someone if I lose the 50/50 .90% of gamblers quit before they hit jackpot and similarly 90% of Honkai Star Rail players quit before they win their 50/50. 90% of Honkai Star Rail players quit before they get E6 Aventurine. I need him so bad. Like I wouldn't be mad if I lost the 50/50 to like, Clara or something because I already have her from standard banner and I love her a lot, but if it were to literally anyone else I'd just start mauling people yk. I don't even know what that one kid's name is but he has blonde hair and swords and he's from the Xianzhou Luofu (not that far in the plotline, havent met him yet) but if I lose my 50/50 to that kid I might just die.

This is really useful insight! I freely admit I have a very American view of race, so it’s always good to be reminded that not every country thinks about it or enacts policy about it the same way. I got those stats from the Encyclopedia Britannica and the Brookings Institution (a politically centrist and fairly credible Washington, DC think tank), so although I don’t think they’re trying to make a point for any explicit agenda, they are not official government demographic statistics.

It is clear that there are racial and religious divisions in France, and it wasn’t fair or accurate of me to minimize them. There are definitely other historical factors that contribute to the US’ hypercapitalistic, hyperindividualistic, and deeply divided mindset. I don’t think it’s so clearly about federal vs state/local government anymore, or idiots being deluded into thinking that they have anything in common with the wealthy ruling class despite the reality of their socioeconomic status (many college-educated, upper-middle class Americans like to pretend that they are not one prolonged period of unemployment or one chronic health condition away from financial ruin).

What I will say is that the US is much more diverse and much larger, both in terms of geography and population, than pretty much all the other Western democracies/republics, and because of that, it’s harder to organize and unify Americans than it is people in many other countries. I don’t feel like there is a very strong sense of shared American social norms, or an American culture outside of consumption (and even then it’s deeply segmented by race and socioeconomic status). A lot of Americans I know point to how life is better in places like Canada, France, Germany, and many Scandinavian countries, but it’s like comparing apples to oranges. We’re going to have a harder time building the kind of civil society that those countries have just by sheer size and demographics alone, not to mention all the other factors that apply.

It is nice to see that there is public support for protestors in France and I hope they achieve their aims, although now I doubt how much of that is truly representative of French viewpoints overall. I know that outside my own social circle, opinions on the Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality in 2020 in the US were overwhelmingly negative, but only because I’m living inside the American media bubble. Not sure what international opinions on the actual events themselves or what they thought the American opinions about the events were.

His name is Cedric Liechti, afaik he's the "secretary general" of the energy workers's CGT of Paris. He pronounced this speech at the garbage workers picket line which blocks the entry of one of the garbage incinerators in Paris.

12. How many wip's do you have in your docs for next year?

Oohh!! How would I even begin to count, haha? I keep a really loose checklist and I also have a (discord channel lmfao in a server that only I'm in) where I keep ideas but I've got so much shit sitting around that's just like. 300 random words of prose. I suppose I could count the documents that don't have the (completed) tag on them... My checklist is at sixty-two, so that's a number I can give you, haha.

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

OUHH part of me wanted someone to ask this and part of me didn't want to open this door but AHHAHAH (okay I'm unsound you have to forgive me in advance for being an unsound and deranged person with an unquiet soul okay?) basically I've been scrawling this out thematically over various inboxes but mostly to myself but ... okay (embarrassed suddenly) h-hober mallow dies lonely and wanting and unfulfilled and maybe even embittered at the ineffectualness of his interpersonal maneuvers ("Galaxy, he hates me.") and some (eighty? my math is loose) years later Bel Riose rises on the interstellar scene to no archetypal, intellectual, etc. equal, and feels himself a thing with a pulse and a purpose ("You are trying to say I am a silly robot...") in a world of inert subjects animated by the random motion of psychohistorical necessity from which no significant or distinguishing ego arises... listen Ike doesn't care about these people but I DO and to say that they NEED each other is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Do you understand where I'm going with this? Do you understand? Listen The General and The Trader Princes were respectively the weakest (most wanting) sections of their respective novels; to synthesize them would be a task suited for perhaps an adolescent (saying this to make himself more likely to commit to rereading and rewriting so fucking much of these novels) (he's already like 6k words deep but most of it is them quipping, them fucking, surgeries under dubious consent, and bel riose being nobly starved to the brink of death under Imperial escort HAHAHAHA. aaaah. ah 😐).

Nothing written, noo, but an incrrrredible amount of art inspired by my fic (which has never happened before this year ahdkfdhj) (and I think that's close enough to a gift! they r treasures to me.) look look LOOK LOOK i'm going to melt i'm going to deconstitute i'm not a person i never was ohhmfygfuildohfldifl 😭😭😭😭 trying to compose myself but it's so hard when I'm a non-Newtonian fluid and not a man not even a little bit AAOUAHDSHKFJDLS!!!

(And I skipped secret santa this year because I was in full hermit mode which kinda sucked of me because that's always fun :'( but hopefully lots of opportunities in the coming year to be generous and friendly instead of reclusive and crazy.)

And I suppose it's not what the question is asking, but I also made a lot of new friends [if you think i'm talking about you i am hi i love you i'm sorry for being evil], and spent a lot of time with old friends, who privilege me terribly and awesome (archaic) with their time and attention and even their affection, which is a precious gift 2 me :)

This blog is strictly singleship for the time being. I also don't really ship Renji and Rukia romantically. It's strictly platonic in my eyes. The reason for this is out of fear that Renji would end up losing Rukia again and it being permanent this time around.

I have several verses to choose from. Okay … technically I don't because they're still very much under construction. With that being said, my default verses generally vary between   ☾ verse ☽ tybw arc and ☾ verse ☽ post series arc.
