Tyler and Neha
This is my second writing project for sweet elite! People were talking on how there wasnât enough content for some of the Main 10. So hereâs something for my fiancee, @karoelite.Â
Itâs not super accurate on painting but weâll just say Tyler did a not-very-detailed work or something. Also, I donât know why I imagine Tyler as super chatty thatâs just something I head-canon for him. My scholar, Celeste, is briefly mentioned because Iâm the worst but whatever. Also, these characters are a little harder to write for because thereâs not as much content but I did my best! Enjoy!
Neha sat in a small corner of the fashion department. Most students had left, but not her. Instead, she struggled over whether the dress she was sketching would need a belt.
She almost fell off her chair when a face leaned over her shoulder.
âItâs amazing! How do you even do that? The colors! I have a lot of trouble coming up with outfits for people.â
âHow can you just-â Neha stopped what was going to be an acerbic rant on privacy and respecting people's personal bubbles but the genuine awe radiating off Tyler stopped her. The dress was good (she had designed it) but it wasnât all that. It was a sketch. It didnât even have fabric choices yet. In fact, Neha didnât know if she could keep Karolâs hair from clashing with the vibrant colors. A nice hat maybe? Matching a belt? Did it really need a belt?
âHello. Earth to Neha.â Tyler waved his hand in front of her face and she looked at the gigantic smile, realizing she had zoned out. Â
âSorry that happens a lot when Iâm working on something. What are you doing in the fashion department?â That was softer than a scolding anyway.
âI was looking for some fabric as a texture for a watercolor. I need something sheer, I think? Itâs sort of a study on-â
âYeah. Celeste left some scraps on the table over there.â She pointed and waited for him to get out of her hair so she could continue.
Tylerâs enthusiasm only dimmed for a second. Then his whole face lit up again. How did he do that? âBut what I was saying is..well. Anyway, can I paint it?â Neha shook her head in confusion, and he pointed at the notebook she was holding. Â
âItâs not done.â It was only a sketch. Why would he even want to paint a dress? She hadnât ever seen him interested in that sort of thing. But he was a beautiful artist. As well as being well-known throughout the school. Maybe it would drum up sales? She could have him do a teaser of it?
âActually, thatâs fine. But you canât show anyone until Iâve made the dress available. We can talk pay later. Not until the dress sells, though.â
Tyler immediately started chattering away about how excited he was and grabbed Nehaâs hand. He dragged her out of the room before she could swat him away.
âYou donât have to pay me, dork! Iâm inspired! But you will have to credit the great Tyler Williams when everyone suddenly wants a gorgeous painting of their latest outfit.â Neha tuned him out as she saw a dozen curious eyes looking at them. Well then, not everyone had left. She ducked her head and jerked her hand away. Tyler didnât even pause for breath but was that a sidestep to give her some space? Â
She didnât have time to think on it as they arrived at the fine arts department. It took her breath away every time she entered. Tyler left for a second to grab supplies and she looked at some of the new things people were working on. Neha adored all the art and tried to come in occasionally to check things out. Actually, she really admired some of Tylerâs online works, but sheâd never tell him that. Â
He seemed to materialize a canvas, easel and palette out of thin air. âOkay itâs all set! Can you just put the sketch down on the easel? I promise to be careful!â A wink, but that just made her anxious. Â
âAbsolutely not. I donât need paint all over my notebook. Do you know how much money these designs are worth just by themselves?â
A sigh but he signaled for her to stand next to the easel and hold up the sketch for him. Neha almost refused but the whole school would know by tomorrow that they had been holding hands. She had to give them some sort of business to show people. Karol always said Arlington was full of ânasty gossip.â So, Neha stood by the easel and held up the notebook so that maybe Tyler couldnât see the irritation on her face. Â
âUmm... Could you hold it lower? The lighting is weird.â
Well he could see the irritation now.
Tyler got to work, and she realized she had finally found something that made him stop talking. While he was painting there was no chatter and his focus seemed to narrow onto the painting. She expected him to check the sketch more, but people did sometimes whisper that he had a photographic memory. Neha found herself fascinated to just watch someone else work for a while. Tyler put his tongue between his teeth, just slightly out of his mouth.
âHey! I do that!â He was broken out of his trance and Neha suddenly felt guilty. She always hated people interrupting her. But Tyler just smiled pleasantly and laughed.
âI used to be self-conscious about it but when Iâm focused, I really canât help it. Can you step closer? I need finer details now.â Â
So, did he have a photographic memory or not? But he didnât look at the sketch just smiled at her a couple of times. It wasnât too long before he stepped back to inspect his work. He seemed disgruntled but in a finished sort of way. What was wrong? She peeked around to check and was stunned.
âYou uh..added a sash.â But that was not what stunned her. It was Neha in the painting. He had somehow made her irritation into a pleasant expression, with lips upturned and excitement in her eyes.
âIâm...I mean itâs...How did you...?â She could only trail off. The smoky background brought out the bright colors in the dress. It also brought out some sort of inner light he had painted on her. She looked happy and bright, not stressed out or cold as most people saw her. Â
âKnow it needed a sash? I thought a belt would be too much, but a sash just blends better with the dress.â Tylerâs nervous eyes said he knew she wasnât talking about the dress but didnât want to push his limits after having painted her by surprise.
âI canât put this painting up on the site.â Tyler shrugged but just kept waiting. Neha looked at herself for a long time. Then she sighed. Â
âYouâre right.â This made his smile return but it was a puzzled look he gave her. âIt needed a sash. If youâre free after this, would you mind looking at this jumpsuit Iâve been struggling with? Iâm thinking stripes might not work.â
She had just thought Tyler was smiling before.

if/then (2.0) - 15 v.2
PSA time: Criticism can be a positive force, especially when itâs constructive, and even more so when itâs given by someone you trust and respect. (Don't be afraid of it!) âBut itâs just fan fiction,â the mantra goes, meaning fics don't warrant scrutiny, like "real" writing does. But âItâs just fan fiction,â to me, means I have the ability to go back and reassess, to learn from my mistakes, especially when given sound advice to guide me. Iâm writing to learn, as Iâm not a writer by trade, so there is no shame in tearing something apart and starting over again. Chapter 15 warranted a serious makeover, so I dove in...the gist is the same but the information imparted differently. Iâd forgotten the cardinal rule of "show not tell,â so Iâve gone back and applied that liberally. And here we are, back at Chapter 15, with a (hopefully) more satisfying result. Plus, in the meantime, Iâve plotted out a much better ending (for the story), so it's a win/win situation all around. Edited 6/5.
Previously: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9, part 10, part 11, part 12, part 13, part 14
////////////////////
Myka checks her phone and looks toward the door again; no new news, but Helena really should be here by now. The VIP preview started at five, and her public opening at six, but now it's near seven, and Helenaâs still missing in action. A mix up with her ticket left her stranded until late afternoon, but after some strong words with the manager, she transferred to another airline. She texted over an hour ago that she'd "be there soon," but Myka's beginning to worry she's run into further trouble.
It's almost laughable, her fretting over Helenaâs absence, as she was adamant for weeks Helena not join her. But at the last minute, she changed her mind, unnerved about stepping into uncharted territory alone. Helena convinced her she needed a buffer and that she was the best candidate for the job.
After their initial conversation, Helena called like clockwork every day, but at first, Myka didn't pick up. Ignoring Helena entirely seemed the only way to focus, but her heartfelt messages kept creeping into her head. If she was ever going to move past this, they needed to talk, and sooner rather than later was better than waiting.
Their first few conversations were bitter affairs, little more than Helena listening while Myka listed her âwrongs.â Myka vented a laundry list of frustrations, beginning with Germany and tumbling back through their relationship. But over time, her hostility weakened, allowing Helena to steer their focus towards Mykaâs show.
âWhat do you want,â Myka grumbled, tapping "accept" after three full rings.
âTo ask how you're faring today,â Helena replied.
âStressed out. Super busy. Same as yesterday, and the day before.â
âYou have been rather agitated lately.â
âWhoâs fault is that?â Myka snapped. It had become a habit to push Helenaâs buttons whenever possible, but this schtick was getting old, her heart wasnât in it as it was a few days ago.
âWere you able to ask for more time off work?â
âYeah,â Myka answered, a little disappointed Helena didnât offer her usual apologies. "Leenaâs sending stuff I can work on at home, so I only have to go in once or twice a week.â
âExcellent. That relieves much of your burden.â
âTrue, but thereâs still so much to do.â
âTalk me through it. Perhaps I can assist.â
Myka looked across her room at the collection of objects on her desk, the ones she and Abigail rescued from Helenaâs apartment. She hadn't told Helena what had happened there yet as she wanted to process her experiences there before inserting Helena's influence. But considering the subject matter, that was kind of counterproductive as she wouldn't be able to keep it from her for long.
âWhy didnât you tell me they were gutting your building?â she asked.
âAre they? I wasn't aware.â
âI think you knew.â
âIâd only heard rumblings. Nothing substantial. Certainly, nothing this soon."
Myka grunted in disapproval. "You couldn't have mentioned it was a possibility?"
"Discussing such destruction seemed cruel after all youâd been through. And I didn't want to alarm Christina.â
When Helena got kicked out, Myka was still a mess, so she could see where Helena was going with that. But Christina was going to find out eventually, whether while walking to the park or from a friend at school. Though she didn't mention it either the last time she saw Christina, probably for the same reasons Helena had kept it from her.
Standing from her stool, she walked across the room towards the group of objects littering the table. She fingered the frayed edge of a worn LP sleeve she dug out from the dumpster, one that once lived on a bottom shelf in Helena's living room with many others. They were visible from the couch while she was lying down, and she'd often wished they had a turntable to play them on. That couch provided so much comfort in those trying times, especially when Dewy would knead in circles and then curl up at her feet.
âI loved that apartment.â
âAs did I.â
âWell, itâs gone. Ripped apart. The whole damn thing.â
âHow do youââ
âYour couch was in a dumpster. We went inside. Took everything left of you we could carry.â
âWe?â
âMe and Abigail."
âOh. You and Abigail.â
The line quieted.
âSorry, that was...â Harsh, Myka thought. But no harsher than finding her with Bonnie at the sale.
âA-And what treasures did you gather?â Helena asked, in soft, defeated tones.
âA, um...pen,â Myka said, describing the nearest thing to her. âFrom that Mexican place on Houston. The one with the soup Christina likes when sheâs sick.â
âPozole.â
âYeah, thatâs it."
âThen it's truly a souvenir worth saving,â Helena replied. Her words were polite but distant as if she was thinking about Christina being sick and her inability to comfort her. Myka wanted her to feel guilt, but over her, not her child. She looked around her collection for something less fraught.
âThereâs that pom-pom Christina made at Brownies.â Dust fell to the table as Myka lifted an orange poof of yarn.
âThe singular time we attended before she began kempo. It wasnât for us.â
Myka drops the pom-pom and hones in on another item. âShells from the beach you said were from Santa Cruz?â
âFrom our excursion after Claudiaâs job interview at Apple. That wasâŠan enlightening day.â
âTell me more.â
âI shall, one day,â Helena answered. âBut it wasn't terribly pleasant.â
âOh, sorry." Myka searches her collection for something with a cheerier backstory.
âIâm touched you felt compelled to save these trinkets, but I must ask, whatever for?â
âTheyâre lost memories, like mine, from the fire, and Iâm painting them for my show. Or at least trying to, but Iâm running out of time.â
âAh, yes! That makes perfect sense."
âIt does? How?"
âThus far, youâve been piecing together memories, painstakingly recreating objects youâve lost. But thereâs a distance there as if you're compiling a catalog, much like the registrar youâve trained to be."
âTheyâre more than catalogingâ"
"But the objects from my flat are extant, and your renderings draw directly from their energy. Mixing our memories with your own adds a richness, describing the limbo we're all experiencing while building our lives again.â
âI, um...â Myka looked toward her easel, at the rendering of the calendar she rescued from the floor displayed there. Various events from that month flashed through her mind, and she realized the amount of baggage she was memorializing. Helenaâs interpretation of her motives suddenly made sense, though unpacking them at the moment seemed too intense.
âCan you work on multiple paintings using artificial light?â Helena asked.
âI have been, and it helps. But I need to ship everything at least a week and a half in advance.â
âShip many as you're able and take the rest with you on the plane.â
âCan I do that?â
âYes. If you're still using wooden panels, they're not weighty. Pack them securely and pay the excess baggage fee,â Helena explained. âBuy them pre-primed to save time in the studio.â
âI like preparing them myself.â
âYou must focus on content. Hire someone to prepare them for you, if thatâs critical."
âYouâre probably right.â Myka sighed.
âYou're allowing too many distractions to get in your way.â
âWhoâs fault is that?â Myka said, her bite from earlier gone.
âIâll refrain from phoning ifââ
âNo. Call. I might not pick up, but this was...helpful." It was, but everything wasn't sitting right just yet. "Weâre still not ok. Ok? You know that."
âIâm acutely aware.â
âAs long as you know.â
âMy offer still stands, either way.â
âIâll keep it in mind,â Myka said, then tapped end her phone. That was all the critique she could handle for the day.
Positive news also eased tensions between them, as early on, Mrs. Frederic's bid won the sale. The sizable commission allowed her to step away from the gallery, though she promised to help out when needed. And the residency in LA got in touch before her trip and informed her she made it through to the semi-finalist round.
But she needs to get through tonight before anything can truly move forward, a big art night in Warsaw all round. The city's museums and galleries have openings concurrently, and tonight's crowd has already has exceeded expectations. The director's been buzzing around all evening, introducing her to new faces left and right. By the time Helena arrives, all the activity's made her head spin, and she's starting to zone out.
She spies Helena weaving towards her mid-sentence, cornered by a woman asking detailed questions about technique.
âForgive the intrusion, but I must steal the guest of honor,â Helena says and hooks her arm through Mykaâs. She leads her back across the room towards the entrance, then steps back and sweeps her eyes over her outfit. âLovely as ever. More captivating in person. Though I did appreciate the preview over the phone.â
Myka blinks a few times, a little stunned by Helenaâs actually here. âY-you look nice, too. You didn't say you were wearing a dress.â
âIâm hardly well put together, but I did try my best. This event is too important to arrive both late and unkempt."
Myka searches for traces of unkemptness, but Helena's close-fitting dress is wrinkle-free. It compliments her frame so perfectly, she finds it difficult to look away. When she meets Helena's gaze, Helena's eyes fill with apology, and Myka's soften, accepting the gesture without reproach. Her show wouldnât have come together without Helena's help, and sheâs glad sheâs finally here to share it with her.
"I thought you'd be here earlier. Was there lots of traffic?â Myka asks.
"I stopped by my hotel to change.â
âItâs not that far.â
âYours was booked. Mineâs further away.â
âOh. I didn'tââ A patron squeezing between them cuts Myka short.
Helena turns to face a painting on the wall. âThis oneâs mesmerizing in person. Nothing like the photo you sent. Its surface seems holographic, but that canât be right.â
âI added mica powder to the pigment, to create a shine.â
âMyka power?â Helena quips, raising a brow.
âVery funny. You know what I mean. Christina said it should be shiny, like the sticker.â
âShe is youâre harshest critic.â
âAt times,â Myka says, with a smirk. âIt is her sticker.â
âBut the rendering is yours. And the sentiment an ode to childhood obsessions."
âIt's about the resilience of materials in the harshest conditions,â Myka snaps, repeating the line sheâs used all day. "But I guess it is a kidâs sticker, so...â She looks hard at the likeness of a curled and soiled Pegasus she created. Helena's interpretation wasnât her intention, but she can see what she means.
âHave you repaired all the damage from your shipment?â Helena asks.
âDonât get me started. I canât believe the crappy repacking job they did."
âManhandling must escalate the longer goods fester in Customs .â
âIf theyâd been held up anywhere but London, I donât know what I would have done. Thank you again for convincing me to ask for Mrs. Frederic's help.â
âIn my opinion, the paperwork error was inconsequential. They should never have been held back in the first place.â
âThatâs what happens when I donât double check thingsâ"
âMyka, come and meet Priska," a woman interrupts. She places a hand on Mykaâs shoulder and glances at Helena. âAh, this must be the long-lost Helena. Welcome!"
âIâm pleased to have finally arrived,â Helena says, holding out a hand to shake. "You must be Eva, the director. Very nice to meet you,â
âLikewise,â Eva says, accepting the gesture. "I've heard much about you.â
âAll good I hope.â
Eva smiles and looks across the gallery. âCome, talk with Priska. Sheâs intrigued by the calendar piece."
âThere's a lot to be said, isnât there?â
As they walk across the room, the mischievous look in Helena's eye leaves Myka wary of what "a lot" entails.
Helena shifts into dealer mode as they meet with Evaâs client, her charm on high as they check in with various guests. Myka chimes in when Helena's interpretations donât line up with her own, but after their umpteenth conversation, sheâs happy to let Helena speak for her. Helena mostly gets things right, plus sheâs wiped from repeating herself, and watching Helena work, in her favor, is still a turn on.
There's a dinner after the opening, then drinks after that and Myka's running on steam by the drinks portion. Helena stays ever by her side, chatting with guests, refilling her glass, ensuring she's having a good time. It's comforting having Helena there to care of her, as she'd been mostly holed up alone for weeks.
During a lull in socializing, Helena glances at Myka and smiles a smile she knows is just for her. She slips her arm around Myka's waist, and Myka instinctively leans towards her, smiling back with equal sentiment.
As the hours pass, and the wine takes hold, their touches become more intimate. At some point, Myka tunes out the room entirely, and her eyes hanging on Helena's lips. The way they lift and stretch to match her cadence and inflection makes her wish they were moving over her skin. She aches to kiss her, but not here, somewhere private, somewhere alone. She snaps out of it when she realizes thatâs not out of the question.
She asks the time, it's late, an appropriate time to leave. They say their goodbyes, then pile into a car someone called for them. Myka gives the driver directions, and when Helena adds a second stop, her heart sinks; it no longer makes sense to have asked her to book a separate room. It was an easy way out if their evening went unfavorably, but she assumed they'd be in the same hotel.
âI canât wait to pass out,â she says, slumping back into her seat. She closes her eyes as the car drives away.
âYou deserve a rest. And youâll sleep soundly knowing tonight was a great success.â
âIt was, wasn't it?â Myka says. She cracks an eye open to peer at Helena and sees she's sitting stiffly, too far away. She slides a hand across the seat and lays it over Helenaâs thigh. âIâm glad you came.â
âThank you for allowing me,â Helena says. She covers Mykaâs hand with her own.
The car turns at a light and Myka settles back, closing her eyes again, resting her head on the top of the seat. The car turns and slows after continuing on for several minutes. When it stops, Helena removes her hand.
âCome up with me,â Myka says and squeezes Helenaâs thigh.
Helena looks down at Myka's hand but doesn't answer.
"If you want," Myka adds. Was Helena's doting all an act? She did offer her hotel address rather quickly. Maybe she misread her; maybe she wants to be alone.
âIâd be happy to,â Helena says, laying her hand over Mykaâs again and smiling as she meets Mykaâs eyes.
They exit the vehicle and walk straight through the lobby, directly into an open elevator. Myka presses a button, and as they move skywards, she steps back and examines Helenaâs shimmery ensemble.
âYour dress reminds me of the one from our first âofficialâ date.â
âDo you reckon?â Helena glances down at her garment.
âThe cutâs the same, but the color's different. Did you do that on purpose?â
âI may very well have,â Helena replies.
The door opens and they walk down a corridor then stop in front of Mykaâs room. Myka slips her keycard into the slot and upon entering, sheds her jacket and bag, throwing both over the arm of a chair. She turns and faces Helena, who is standing a few paces away.
âTake your coat off," Myka says, motioning for Helena to come closer.
âWe should talk,â Helena says, her tone weighty, beyond the current mood.
âI know, but...â Myka steps behind Helena and reaches over her shoulders, slipping her fingers underneath her lapels. She leans forward and angles her head, so her lips nearly touch Helena's ear. âLet's keep tonight about me.â
Myka tugs on Helena's lapels and Helena circles her arms back, allowing Myka to slip her coat off entirely. Myka throws the coat on top of her own, then pads in front of Helena and threads a finger under the strap of her dress.
âMaybe we can have a do-over,â Myka says, her eyes following her finger as it slides up towards Helena's collarbone then back down to where the strap meets Helena's generous neckline.
âA what?â
âA do-over. For our 'official' first date.â Myka angles her eyes up, meeting Helena's questioning gaze. "We are in a hotel, and you are wearing a dress.â
"So it seems,â Helena says, her eyes falling to Myka's lips. She leans forward for a kiss, but Myka dodges, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the bed. As they reach the edge, Myka spins Helena around and taps on her shoulders so she falls into sitting position, Helena lays back and Myka crouches down, lifting Helena's foot, slipping off one heel and then another. She removes her own and drops both pairs to the floor while Helena shimmies up the bed until her head rests on a pillow. Myka crawls across the bed until her body is hovering over Helenaâs and Helena adjusts so they're in perfect alignment.
âThis is where we left off,â Myka says, dipping down for a kiss. Helena lifts her head, but Myka stops an inch short. âNo, wait. You sit up and kiss me.â Myka settles back on her haunches and takes hold of Helenaâs hands, placing them, palms down, above her knees.
Helena lifts slowly at the waist, palms skimming up Mykaâs thighs as Myka cups Helenaâs jaw and guides their lips together. Helena's thumbs slide inwards as they reach the hem of Myka's skirt, stretching eagerly towards tender, intimate flesh.
âHey!â Myka yelps.
Helena freezes. âI thought we were continuing where we left off?â
âIt was our first time, remember? You wouldnât have moved that fast.â
âYou haven't a clue what I would or would not have done.â
âThen tell me," Myka says, but kisses Helena her before she can answer, a strategic brush of Helena's thumbs impossible to ignore.
Helena rakes her hands up, over the curve of Myka's hips, and wraps her arms tightly around Myka's middle. Myka presses into Helena as Helenaâs tongue parts her lips, the need for closer contact rushing through her like lightning. When they're forced to break for air, Helena places kisses across Mykaâs cheek and lets her lips linger near her ear.
âAny flesh Iâd longed to touch would have been unclothed immediately.â Helena reaches behind Mykaâs shoulders and drags down her zipper. Myka leans back and lifts her arms, allowing Helena to peel her garment off entirely.
"I'd have mapped every arc and every crook; cataloged each utterance of pleasure I'd earned." Helena slides Mykaâs bra strap over the slope of her shoulder and places a soft, lingering kiss on the rise of her breast.
âWait," Myka says as painful memories trickle back. âIf you wanted me so badly, why did you leave?â
âWeâve talked about this,â Helena says, laying her forehead on Myka's chest.
âBut I still donât understand,â Myka says, tipping Helena's head up, needing to see Helena's eyes as she answers.
âI thought tonight was to remain about you.â
âIt was butâŠwhy were you so scared that night?â
âIâd only just learned Iâd be deported.â
âThatâs not it. Not enough for you to bolt. It was something else, something out of your control.â
âMyka...â
Myka sits back, distancing herself, brow furrowing as she replays the details of that evening. âYou asked a lot of questions about Mrs. Frederic. But you already knew who she was, didnât you?â
âHer reputation precedes herââ
âNo, you knew her. Youâd met her before. Were you working for her then?â
âI hadnât met her until the day I was called into her office." Helena's eyes narrow and Myka shrinks back. She hit a nerve, as she did so often over the phone. âI think you're over-tired, and perhaps a bit tipsy,â Helena says, taking hold of Mykaâs hands and drawing them towards her.
âIâm going to change,â Myka says, slipping her hands free and sliding off the bed. She walks towards the bathroom and after entering closes the door.
She leans on the counter and stares into the mirror, seeing what Helena saw. Her eyes are red and puffy, her hair fairly frazzled, but it's been a really, really long day, so she's not surprised. But maybe, just maybe, she's overreacting as she is both overworked and overtired.
She begins pulling out pins and thinking over the situation; was Helena spying on Macpherson for Mrs. Frederic all this time? And was Bonnie clued into the situation before now? Helena said Mrs. Frederic knew her, or rather knew Emily before London, but did she mean âknew ofâ or âknew her personally?â And if so, wouldnât she have known the "other" Emily first? Unless she only knew "this" Emily, Helena's Emily, the one from the trial.
She yanks the last pin free and runs her fingers through, combing her hair out into rough, curled strands.
If Helena was telling the truth and she wasnât Emily before their date, then it is possible, at dinner, she hadn't met Mrs. Frederic yet. So maybe she's jumping to conclusions, mixed up between Claudia's research and Helena's murky past. It is easy to fall into old patterns, so she probably should chill out until they can talk for real. They have a whole three days to hash things out, and it's best to do so with a clear head.
She brushes her teeth and gives her face a quick wash before swapping her clothes for a t-shirt and shorts. She hesitates before opening the door, how does she want to handle this? If things hadnât gone sour so quickly, theyâd be otherwise engaged right now. And she'd rather be doing that than confronting Helena. Maybe it's best to pass out and deal with it tomorrow.
When she opens the door, Helena's standing near the entrance, her coat and shoes already on.
âAt least you didnât sneak out this time.â
âI was certain you wouldn't want me to stay.â
âNo, I do." Myka walks toward her suitcase and rummages through, pulling out a fresh t-shirt. âHere. Go change.â
Helena removes her coat and shoes then moves toward the bathroom, taking the t-shirt from Mykaâs hand as she passes.
Once the door closes, Myka climbs onto the bed and burrows under the covers. She breathes deep breaths and closes her eyes, hoping to calm her nerves before Helena emerges.
Too few moments later, the bed dips down, and Helena sits motionless for what seems like an eternity. Myka doesn't move either, unsure of how to proceed, waiting for Helena to set the tone.
âAre you asleep?â
âNo. Not yet."
âMay I say something?â
âSure."
âOur past may be irreparable, and our future...unpredictable. But our present is something we hold agency over.â
Myka rolls onto her side and bends her arm at the elbow, propping her head up with a hand. âHow long did it take you to come up with that?"
"Since you first entered to bathroom."
"It's good. And I get it. You mean tonight is what we make it.â
âYes,â Helena says. âYouâd asked this evening be kept about you and I'd hoped you'd allow me to hold fast to that. You deserve a grand finish that only I can deliver. Let's end your successes on a high note."
âSelling yourself, instead of my paintings? Classy.â Myka huffs a short laugh.
âIn a manner of speaking. Is that of any interest?"
"Kinda." Myka shrugs.
âThen I clearly misinterpreted your earlier intentions." Helena looks down at her hands.
âNo, you didn't,â Myka says. âI'm interested. But it wouldnât fix anything. And weâd still need to talk. A lot.â
âAnd we shall. Eminently.â
Myka slides her hand across the duvet and brushes a thumb over Helena's wrist. She may regret this tomorrow, but it is what she wants tonight.
Helena lifts her legs onto the bed and stretches out next to Myka, angling her body so theyâre lying face to face. She cups Mykaâs jaw and brushes a thumb over her cheek, looking into her eyes as if asking permission. Myka covers Helenaâs hand and slides it over her lips, kissing it then laying it on the bed. She then eases Helena onto her back and straddles her hips, planting her hands on either side of her head. She dips down and kisses Helena as Helena's hands skim up her thighs, fingers sliding under Myka's hem with zero protests.

Speak Your Mind Even If Your Voice Shakes Girl Silhouette T-Shirt
So this is going to be a Speak Your Mind Even If Your Voice Shakes Girl Silhouette T-Shirt bit long but bear with me I had what I believe to be a pointless and incredibly frustrating experience with the assistant manager jamie at your auburn hills great lakes crossing location today I have been coming here for three years I frequent your orlando san marcos and new jersey locations as well at least once a year when we stop we usually spend 5 to 10 thousand dollars on your products the system is simple I go in park in a corner and bring bins to my corner sort them bag them move them to the front register and repeat today I brought a personal duffel bag as it holds about 8 to 12 of your bags worth of stuff I get told that iâm not allowed to use it because itâs policy not a big deal at all I say okay iâll do that for the rest rather than rebag all of this iâll just go up in line and pay for it and it can sit behind the counter seems pretty reasonable to me nope I got obstructed suggested that I might be stealing something and not allowed to pass stating if I donât want to follow the system I can leave he then takes my entire duffel dumps it onto the floor and then rebags it into victoria secret bags then moves it to the front counter so it can be rang in I thought this was a little odd but hey he was doing all the work rebagging it so whatever iâm like dude iâm going to be spending about 8k today all I want to do is come in spend some money get out without any drama whatâs the problem whoevers in charge should be thrilled with a sale like this weâre spending 8k keep in mind that I told him that I would do what he wanted and it wasntâ a big deal and the response was to the effect of stop being lippy and just listen I told him what do you want from me I just agreed with you and said I would use your bags iâm not being lippy at all I know this because I said okay dude not a problem iâll use your bags his response was maybe if you get to buy it iâm like what are you suggesting that an 8 000 order is something you guys donât want heâs like yeah if you buy it iâm like dude we are spending 8k today why would I bag up a bunch of stuff and spend 2 3 hours picking our your fabulous product to not buy it anyway so I had 4 credit cards one card had 2 000 one had 3500 one had 2000 and one had 1000 because I am buying for multiple people I had 4 different cards all in my name I wanted one receipt for each card not a big deal to me right wrong again he cited some policy and said if the order is more than 750 items that they arenât allowed to ring in under 750 items on any one receipt id like to point out that that amount is higher than your employees said they could take as a cash payment I asked him to please show me that I would understand better if I could just read it he was willing to do so he brought out the policy book and to my surprise what it actually said was words to the afffect of cash payments cannot be split up or over 750 items I forget the second half my immediate reply was so whatâs the big deal im using credit not cash he snatched the policy book away from me at that point and said you know what you can just listen to me or I donât have to let you buy anything itâs up to my discretion I then called your orlando outlet and your new jersey outlet and talked to the store managers and cited your policy I was given I asked them to confirm if that was accurate and both said if it was a policy it was news to them I then asked if they would let me buy my order using 4 cards and 4 receipts the woman at orlando said oh my gosh yes we do that every single day I asked if I went to her store if I would have any trouble with this in the future and was told no then she said you can always come down here if youâre in the area and iâll be happy to take your order after that phone call I tried again hereâs the video of that attempt I said listen I have 4 credit cards your register girl said you told her she canât ring up an order under 750 items thatâs 3500 if itâs 5 items not all of my cards have that much I have done multiple receipts every time I came here heck I can even supply them to show it he tells me that because I am order so many items that I canât have less tan 750 items per receipt so I point around to everyone else and ask what about everyone else you arenât forcing them to spend a minimum of 750 items what about the final charge iâll have 750 items for two tickets but the leftover isnât going to be 750 items youâre not going to let me buy them he shrugged his shoulders to say no at this point I havenât yelled ive been a bit snarky and sarcastic because I know heâs just giving me a hard time two people ring in our order almost every time I am up there and we were there 3 times in the last 6 months spent a bunch each time so at 730 8pm or so we are done shopping assuming that two people could ring us up ended up being a fantasy he forced one employee only to ring us up later on he comes up when its now close to 9pm and says hey you mind if we ring you up on both registers I chuckle and say no I donât but you do you donât want to be breaking that 750 rule do you he glared at me and then sent the employee away and walked off after blinking a few times I laugh because after telling me over and over he couldnât do it he just got caught trying to do what should have been done to begin with a short while later after 9 I find out that everyone is standing uip front except for the one girl and another associate because none of the rest of them are allowed to help her ring us up the only two people left in the store with about 700 more items to be rang in if thatâs not enough since it was a holidy all of these employees are apparently being paid overtime to stand around and wait at a bit after 10 all but two girls leave and one girl is waiting to count cash while the other girl sits and keeps ringing stuff in we apologize profusely we expected two employees to ring us up like always and timed our visit to be out around 9 if this had happened instead of having one literally stand there and watch her for 1 hour and 47 minutes after close we would have all been out on time and no overtime or extra hours spent so finally at 10 47 pm our orders are done we thank the lovely girl lauren and jasmine who got stuck staying 2 hours past close because a manager made up some random policy and had to double down when I pointed out he really needed to follow that 750 rule when he was going to toss another girl on the register if this is policy fine it doesnât seem to be no manager at your other outlets knew what he was talking about the orlando one insisted that the only restrictions are on cash payments and verified I was paying cash or credit itâs a pretty humiliating experience to get hassled trying to buy panties and bras by someone whoâs on some type of power trip the only thing I said sideways to him was that I flat out didnât believe his policy and that credit absolutely is not the same as cash I didnt call him any names scream at him or did anything to disrupt the store beyond what you see in the videos if this is not policy iâd like an apology from that manager in person or over the phone admitting he was mistaken I would hope that the next time I go there I am not hassled but if not I guess thereâs always orlando or new jersey who seem to be quite friendly I also want to give recognition to jasmine and lauren lauren is the poor soul who got stuck ringing everything in alone because of the managerâs silly rule and not allowing anyone to help because it would be in violation of the 750 item rule jasmine was the cash counter who had to wait until we were out of the store to count cash even more interesting is that I had a former employee with me helping me buy and she said she never heard of this policy either but it doesnât mean it wasnât added since she left she was just as confused because the manager spent over 30 minutes trying to explain and defend this when that time certainly would have been more efficiently spent doing productive things instead of hassling someone who literally sits in a corner and speaks to no one while sorting through your products one bin at a time id love a call back about this or to find out what exactly is going on ive never been hassled like this before and it was a little frustrating and very re: Easy to follow woodworking plans Dear Woodworking Enthusiast,
I f you are reading this page then it is likely that we have something in common. We both like working with wood. In fact we probably both LOVE working with wood.
I am also going to assume that you have a big problem. Â You see I had the same problem in the past so I understand.
The problem I had was translating the vision of what I wanted to create in my mind to the actual finished project.  Many of the projects that you startâŠ.
Never get finished because itâs never simple to take your vision to a completed project (not finishing your project is an incredible waste of time and money)
Wasted a lot of money on materials
(âwinging itâ makes for a lot of material waste)
Take a lot more time than you bargained for (if you do get them completed at all)
Sick and tired of old, âout-of-dateâ woodworking plans with incomplete details or material lists
As much as I love woodworking, I found this incredibly frustratingâŠ
Have You Wasted Countless Hours And Dollars And Been Incredibly Frustrated By Your Poor Results Because You Chose To Wing It Or Followed Poor Woodworking Plans?
You know, itâs funny really. Most of us try to take shortcuts to save time and/or money with just about anything in life, including hobbies like woodworking. And we never seem to learn our lesson.
In the end these types of shortcuts only lead to frustration and a waste of time and money!
But it wasnât always that way. I used to take shortcuts to save time and money â only it never worked out that way. Â At one point I came to the realization that I needed to take my professionalism up a notch and begin using woodworking plans to help me out with my project.
Hereâs what I foundâŠ
The Majority Of Woodworking Plans On The Market Are Vague, Hard To Read And Will Only Leave You More Frustrated Than You Were Before!
What stared out as a good intention (to buy woodworking plans to help me out) only lead to more frustration. I was no further ahead, even after spending my hard earned money on some plans to help me out.
Truth is, I wanted to get my hands on high quality furniture and craft plans. But, the problem is, all of the plans that I could find were hard to read, incomplete, and did very little, if anything, to help the situation.
Having said that, there were definitely some diamonds amongst all of the crap out there. It took me years to compile my collection of woodworking plans. I am still collecting (I donât think Iâll ever be finished) but currently, at the time of writing this letter to you, I have over 9,000 plans!
Good news is, I have packaged all of my plans together and put them into an easy to use format to make your life so much easierâŠ.

Visiting Crunchyroll Expo - A Glimpse of Otaku Cultureâs Future in the Bay Area
After disappearing from the fan convention scene for a year, I decided to make my return to anime conventions by going all the way across the country for the debut con from North Americaâs premier anime streaming service. Crunchyroll Expo was touted as a convention that would spice things up, compared to most anime conventions. Although it felt like a regular anime convention and I didnât notice any subtleties that made the con stand out, CR Expo got me back into the game in good fashion.
The first thing I liked when going there was how the crowds werenât too bad on the 1st day. There was foot traffic, but it wasnât hectic. Walking around was smooth. The convention center it was held at, the Santa Clara Convention Center, was enough for the event. The area outside the convention was absolutely gorgeous. It was hot, but being in California has a funny way of making you appreciate nature.
I got to check out only 1 panel on the 1st day, âBut Have You Read the Manga?â The panelists, Anime News Networkâs Mike Toole, Anime News Networkâs Jacob Chapman, and voice actor/Youtuber ProZD all spoke about various anime adaptations of their favorite manga series. They mentioned notable series like A Silent Voice, Parasyte, Jojoâs Bizarre Adventure, Mob Psycho 100, and Fruits Basket. All 3 praised and criticized what medium was better for certain series. But as some fans may tell you, there was a huge elephant in the room - Fullmetal Alchemist. The panel suddenly become a friendly war about which version of FMA (manga, Brotherhood, 2003 anime series) was better. All the panelists noted FMAâs status as perhaps THE manga that sparks fans to tell other fans to read the manga because itâs âbetter.â They encouraged manga fans to be friendly but not demanding when recommending the original source material to their friends.
As someone who prefers manga to anime with few exceptions, I learned that maybe if people just want to watch the anime, then just let them. I donât need to be a total hipster or elitist about it, even though I do wish people read more comics in general.
On the 2nd day, I got to check out my first CRX Chat, which is basically a 15-minute presentation on any topic related to Japanese pop culture. The CRX Chat I attended was âWhy Manga Mattersâ by Dallas Middaugh, Crunchyrollâs head of content management who used to work for Viz Media, Kodansha Comics, and Seven Seas Entertainment. He went over briefly about the history of comics and then to the early 20th century. Dallas also made a point about how a psychiatrist blamed American comics for ruining the lives of children, which stalled the growth of American comics. In Japan, no such thing happened. It was basically a matter of time allowance that made manga a force in creating anime that fans love.
Boy, am I glad Iâm on the right side in terms of psychology for once. It just sucked that 15 minutes was the limit for such a chat because Dallas knows A LOT about manga publishing. I spoke to him afterwards and he said he was amazed he kept the presentation in such a small time frame.
I checked out the âManga Publishing 101âł panel afterwards. It was a basic panel featuring Crunchyroll Manga, Japanime/Manga University, VIZ Media, and Dark Horse Comics, but I still learned a bit about the thought process from how the  U.S. manga publishers did things. They did make a note that an anime adaptation of a manga doesnât always mean success for the manga in question. Some described success stories for titles (Princess Jellyfish, Goodnight Punpun, Attack on Titan) they couldnât have predicted. What sort of surprised me was the publishers stating that they donât make as much money when compared to the bookstores and distributors. It reminded me of the saying, âThe ones digging for gold arenât the ones getting rich; itâs the ones selling the shovels.â
I did ask a question about Golden Kamuy, a title that Viz Media licensed and one thatâs gotten the attention of a lot of internet users, because the Viz representative mentioned how historical manga donât seem to sell well in the U.S. when talking about what series manga publishers wonât bring over stateside. Her answer was basically personal tastes and memes, which pretty much describes the series in a nutshell.Â
I later went to CR Expoâs Main Stage for 3 of its biggest guests, Johnny Weir, Kore Yamazaki, and Yoshitaka Amano, to end my day. Weir was an interesting guest, as his association with anime was tied to being a fan of Yuri on Ice!! He talked about his life and career. The fan Q&A segment was unique as almost all the fans asked questions about figure skating. Only the last question was related to anime, as it was about which other anime Weir liked.
Afterwards, Kore Yamazaki the creator of The Ancient Magus Bride, came out, along with her editor. This was a fun panel because Yamazaki drew 1 page of Chapter 41 on stage and fans got to witness light banter between a mangaka and their respective editor. There was a cute moment where Yamazakiâs editor praised her in front of everyone by telling her that she makes amazing manga. I want to see more of mangaka & editors together working on ongoing manga (if possible) in future cons honestly. You donât really get to see this a whole lot, so it was refreshing to see.
Yoshitaka Amano drew an easel on stage in his panel and it was the most amazing thing Iâve ever seen. He had an art exhibit of his works in Vampire Hunter D and Final Fantasy. I regret not seeing him when he was in New York Comic-Con for several years. Amano is a boss.
On the last day, I only attended 1 CRX Chat, âAction as Storytellingâ by Crunchyrollâs Nate Ming. It was pretty informative as he went into what makes action effective. He listed several movies and anime that use action well to tell the story the author wanted. Nate praised Rock Lee as a character who helps provide transition to bigger moments or showcase how powerful certain characters. Leeâs an important placeholder whose losses matter a lot. What Nate said about Lee earned brownie points from me. He listed his action series recommendations, which included Hajime no Ippo, Haikyuu!!, Gintama, and My Hero Academia.
Speaking of My Hero Academia, that was the most popular cosplay at the con. I thought it was about time since the 1st season didnât have much to generate a huge fan reaction. We finally have our new Naruto.
Overall, I felt Crunchyroll Expo had a solid debut. The Bay Area needed a grand anime convention that can rival the likes of Anime Expo. Hey, itâs more interesting if a NorCal vs. SoCal battle happened for anime cons. I do like the idea of CRX Chats as they arenât as intense as panels. You also donât have to deal with awkward questions from fans. The staff did a great job in making sure things were organized.Â
I think the only major concern I have was regarding the lack of manga on sale at the con. I overheard someone saying they wanted to buy copies of The Ancient Magus Bride at the con, but no vendor at CR Expo was selling them. The obligatory Kinokuniya Bookstore booth didnât have any manga on sale. This felt like such a lost opportunity. I get that Crunchyrollâs main focus is on anime, but If there was a short talk about why manga matters, then show it. If manga publishers have officially stated in San Diego Comic-Con 2017 that thereâs a growing demand for manga in conventions, why not have more of it next year and beyond? Dark Horse did have a panel at CR Expo this year and I figured the US manga publishers were exhausted due to all the summer conventions that happened, so Iâll give them a break.
I do want to go to CR Expo next year and contribute to a growing manga presence if I can. Even though I had to balance con commitments with family commitments, CR Expo was a fun experience where I got to see old friends, met new people, had good food, and remembered how much fun being a observant of fandom was. Iâve been lucky to be able to go to a gorgeous state like California. I treat Northern California as my 2nd home now.
This experience was a mini training arc for what perhaps will be an intense yet interesting time where âcontent warsâ will have a grand effect on anime/manga fandom.Â
For the Guts in me who finds some peace in despair, I say bring it on.Â
Here are some pictures of cosplayers from CR Expo I enjoyed seeing.

MA Fashion and Textile Practices Major Project Path - 1st September
Big Biba
To say that Big Biba was just another department store would be doing the brand a huge disservice. Big Biba was the ultimate destination place that was given the title of âThe most beautiful store in the worldâ and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Derry and Toms was opened in 1933, a robust Art Deco building which must have made an optimistic architectural statement in a post war London gripped by The Great Depression. With seven floors it must have seemed quite revolutionary for the period. Barbara's intention was to retain as much of the art deco decoration as possible and in fact wanted to reflect its aesthetic throughout Bibaâs branding and products - as well as utilising inspiration taken from the coupleâs travels abroad. The photograph below shows the store swathed in decorations for King George VIâs Coronation in 1937.   Â

Bibaâs shops had always been influenced by the buildings they were situated in and Big Biba was no exception. (Thomas et al., 2006) describe the building as such:
âDerry & Toms was reduced to faded glory, Bibaâs task was simply to bring it back to its original splendour.â Â

With the aid of designers Steven Thomas and Tim Whitmore, Hulanicki began designing the interiors for Big Biba and each of the fifteen departments that were intended. The interior space was twenty times the size of their previous Biba store, but Barbara was unphased by the task which lay ahead. She felt confident it was just a case of translating and up-scaling their current business. They currently had around a 100,000 people per week footfall in a space which was inadequate, so she saw the size upgrade as a huge (literally!) advantage. What Barbara and her cohorts designed was like a living, working movie set, it was a fantasy place accessible to everyone and they came to see it in their millions.
In the September of 1973 Big Biba opened its doors, each of its seven floors stocked to the gills with Bibaâs own label products, Biba was a way of life. each and every item was either designed, commissioned or approved by Hulanicki, not one item was passed without her say so. Some were doubtful that she could pull off this gigantic task and felt that her earlier success couldnât translate to such a huge scale venture, but once opened Big Biba was to attract more than a million customers per week.Â
Modlinger, J. (2013). Fashion archive: The seven storeys of Biba. [Editorial]. Retrieved from https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2013/sep/11/biba-store-kensington-opens-1973.
Biba had never entertained window displays, Barbara had always wanted to conjure a sense of mystery and wonder and Big Biba was to remain just that. Instead of placing products in the widows she did the opposite and placed sofas and chairs there so that customers could look out at the passing world instead. Once inside the store customers could be forgiven in thinking they had arrived on the set of a movie, and certainly not typical of the slightly cramped, dimly lit Bibaâs of old - although Barbara never really lit anything well, it added to the atmosphere. (Thomas et al., 2006) said Vogue had described Big Biba as:
âA palace of of apricot marble, coloured counters and fake leopard-skin walls; seven floors of fantasy.âÂ
That apricot marble covered 26,000 square feet and was made especially in Portugal, so much was required that they exhausted supplies and still wanted more. There were also over 20,000 mirrors used in the store, so no excuse to not see how fabulous you looked living the Biba life. The ground floor was for things you needed if you were in a hurry, exactly like supermarkets today which supply areas with items âto goâ, or shops that supply point of sale (POS) items near the till that you can pick up on the go. Hulanicki really did create shopping experiences that we consider as standard today.Â

The ground floor contained products such as leather goods, boots and shoes, jewellery, knitwear, magazines and records, stationary and more. They also had a book shop supplying tomes in art and design, something new to Biba. A tights counter was standard at Biba but this space was elevated with extra space and range size. Hulanicki was careful to keep items that the customers would recognise from previous stores, such as the hat department which previously utilised flea market hat stands, but now the hat department contained over 200 and were specially made in Czechoslovakia. Â

Bibaâs cosmetics line was one of the brands most successful ventures. The colours were synonymous with fashion, using colours which had never been used for cosmetics before such as dark brown mulberry, plum and black. Celebrities and pop stars were often seen casting their eyes over the vast range of lipsticks, nail polishes and eyeshadows. (Thomas et al., 2006) said that Siouxsie Sioux of the punk/goth band Siouxsie and the Banshees once said:
âOnce I had started going to Biba on my own, and discovered rust colours for the eyes, I really got quite heavily into wearing red eye shadow.â
Bibaâs T-shirt department was also a sight to see, with over a 1,000 pigeon holes to accommodate their vast selection of styles that were available in 24 colours and three sizes, many of the colours were specially created to Bibaâs requirements.    Â

Barbara and Fitz-Simonâs vision for Biba had always been about building a strong brand aesthetic. Biba was one of the first stores to recognise the power of the logo and utilised it to the nth degree. Going back to 1966 they sold a Biba branded diary and calendar, so Big Biba presented them with a great opportunity to capitalise on this idea in the Logo Shop. The shop sold posters, greetings cards, balloons, chocolates, matches and so much more, it was the most affordable way for customers to buy into the Biba lifestyle. Biba was all about affordability, but even if you had spent the majority of your budget travelling to London then you could still buy a Biba item to take away as a memento of the trip. I adore Bibaâs branding and logo designs, of which there are so many connotations. Big Biba was about delivering a coherent brand message which continued through onto all their packaging, labeling, logo shop merchandise, store signage and even their own newspaper! The person mainly responsible for this look was designer Kasia Charko. Kasia was an illustrator who was employed to work with Tim Whitmore and Steve Thomas of Whitmore Thomas Design Associates, as well as Barbara Hulanicki herself to create Bibaâs signature look.    Â

Charko, K. (n.d). Big Biba Logo's . [Illustration]. Retrieved from http://www.jannaludlow.co.uk/Biba/Artwork.html.
It was a vast amount of work Charko was to produce for Big Biba, after all there were fifteen departments over seven floors all requiring branding and graphics. It took two years of hard work to finally finish all the graphics required for Big Biba, as well as a newspaper linked to the store which covered any new events, products and everything else in between. Charko had completed a three year graphic design degree at Leicester College of Art and had been working as a freelance illustrator on various magazines such as Woman and the Radio Times before landing the job for Biba.
The basement of Big Biba was its food hall, it was quite a departure from their usual aesthetic - although still maintaining the overall branding - it celebrated the Pop Art culture of the 1960âČs. In the tinned goods and household essentials section, huge âtinsâ of soup housed a huge array of tinned products. One of these was called âWarholâs Condensedâ which contained Campbellâs Soup tins, this was a play on Warholâs re imagining of the humble soup tin from his famous Campbellâs Soup art.  Â

The food hall stocked 350 own brand products ranging from wine and baked beans, through to ice cream and washing powder, all displayed in quirky and unusual ways. Many of Bibaâs customers as well as the general public came to Big Bibaâs food hall and nowhere else, they could get products there more associated with other high end food halls but at cheaper prices.  Â

/Buckyâs POV/Â
I jolted up with a gasp. My breath is heavy, fighting for air. My mind is flashing the horrors of my past. It was the family again, with the little girl, all dead, by my hand. My breath is desperate, desperate for air that will not come. I try to count my breaths and think of a calm scenery, like what Wanda had taught me to do in a situation like this. After what seems like hours, my breathing started to even out.
Not wanting to see more of my haunted past in my sleep. I quickly dressed, making sure to grab my gloves. I creeped out of the tower without making a sound. When outside, the chill wind of midnight welcomed me, like an old cruel friend. Having no destination I started to wander on the streets of New York City, my once happy home of my past self, myself that's no more.
I mightâve been wandering minutes or hours, time wasn't on my mind, only guilt and self hatred. I pasted dark and cold shops of the city, where people would greet friends with an unforced smile, something I hadn't done in a long time.
I see ahead of me a light from one of the shops. âPainting Paradiseâ I read. My curiosity got the better of me, wondering why a shop like this was opened at an hour like this. I walk up to the window and gaze inside. No one was to be seen, there seems to be no signs of a break in. I can hear peaceful background music playing from the art studio, but still no one insight.
I decide to let the matter go and continued on my aimless wandering. I cross the street to a small park with a small pound. As I walk toward the body of water I see a shadow of a figure. Not wanting to be seen, I stay in the shadow and pull my hood of my jacket closer to my face. I was drawn to this mysterious figure. As I cautiously walked toward them, I saw it was a woman, standing by a easel.
âI wonder if this is the artist of the art studio?â
What I didnât see was the German Shepherd laying beside their master. The dog made a protective growl and bark, warning their owner of my presents. The person turned quickly towards me in a defensive matter.
âI'm sorry, I didn't mean to alarm you. I was just curious of what you were painting, why you were out this late, and if you're the owner of the Painting Paradise.â I say, cringing how gruff my voice was.
She doesnât seem to be cautious and weary by my present anymore.
âWell that's a firstâ
Sheâs eying me, not in judgment, like most, but with curiosity. She gave a gentle genuine smile. Even if there wasn't the dem park lamp, I would've still seen that beautiful smile.
âWow Barnes, that escalated quickly.â
âYes, I am the owner of Painting Paradise. And why I'm out painting this late, is because one, I couldn't sleep, my creative gears were turning in my mind, and when they're turninâ there's no sleepinâ. And this pound looks so lovely in the midnight moonlight, I had make sure such a scene is remembered. And what better way in remembering it than a painting it?â
I didn't pay attention to the pound when I approached her. So I turn gaze to the pound.
âWow, she was right, it is gorgeous.â
The cold white light shines across the smooth surface, like a sea of crystals that captured the stars of the sky.
âYeah, it is beautifulâ I say to her.
She seemed pleased by my statement.
âI'm (Y/N) by the way, (Y/N) (L/N)â she placed down her paintbrush and held out her hand towards me.
Lucky she used her right so I wouldn't have to shake her hand with my left one. Shaking her hand I said âJames Barnes, ma'amâ
She smiles and laughs. âMaâam? well I feel quite the lady with that name. You're not around here are you? The only men who say maâam knower days are from the South.â
âNo one says maâma at all? Chivalry really is dead.â
âNoâ I shook my head âI was born in Illinois, raised in Brooklyn, and taught by my Ma to always be a gentleman to women, respected them, and call them maâam.â I airily laugh at the blurred memory of my Ma. âShe said that women should be treated like queens now and then.â
(Y/N) laugh âI like the sound of your mother, I love to meet her someday.â
She picked up her brush again and returned to where she left off on her painting.
âShe wouldâve say the same thing about you.â I say even before I realized what I said.
(Y/N) turned her face towards me then bashful looked down then turned back to her painting.
âSo what's your reason to out waking in New York City at this time?â She asks
âMy mind woke me up, but not for a pleasant reason.â I grumble
Most people either would give a look of pity or fake sympathy.
âWell I'm glad you're here, and not walking on the streets alone. Being alone doesn't help anyone, so I hope my company comforts you.â She looks at me, her eyes burning into me, into my mind, soul. I felt a sense of ease, warmth, peacefulness I hadn't felt in decades with her eyes staring into mine.
âHer eyes are so beautiful, I'm already lost in themâ
She smiled bashfully and her lashes touching her cheek as she looked down.
âOh shit, I said that out loudâ
âSorry, it slipped out, I didn't-â
âJamesâ she cut me off. The way she said my name sent shivers up my spine. âit's fine, and thank you. That's very sweet of you to say.â Her smile never leaving her gentle face.
âYou know I'm almost done with my painting, I just need to touch my highlights and sign it and I'm done. Would you like tour of my studio and my gallery?â She asks with hope
âIt would be my pleasure, doll.â
âDoll? Where the hell did that come from? I hadn't said that in agesâ
âDid you you time travel from the 1940s or somethinâ? With your sweet talking.â
âYep, basicallyâ
âMaybeâ I mutter under my breath
âThis one I painted out in the country of North Texas, where my sister got married. The sunset was unbelievably stunting. I just loved using these colors together, it's one of my favorite color combinations.â (Y/N) enthusiastically says. âAnd you can see Trigger, he's the German Shepherd, hiding in one of the bushes. My little easter egg of the paintingâ
I could listen to talk about her passion for hours on end. I love seeing that spark in her eyes, the movement of her hands a she explains her work, and how she lightly bounces on her toes.
Her aura is so relaxing and peaceful. I could feel my fears and negative emotions lessen while in her presents. The flashes of my past are no more. She has bewitched me.
âNow this one has a special place in my heart.â She began as she pointed to painting of a lighthouse on a cliff, surrounded by green. The gray ocean waves had such detail, I am in awe.
âFor as long as I can remember, I've had dreams of this place, this particular lighthouse. I hope to make enough profit that I can buy my own lighthouse, just like this one.â She says with a dreamy look.
âI wonder if there's a lighthouse on sale. I'm sure Stark would know.â
âNow these collection of people are my favorite music artist. I painted both with a different style, a style that I think match their genre of music.â
âSo this guy right here, Ray LaMontagneâ She pointed to a small painting of a bearded man âhe's does folk rock, folk blues, and soul. He's actually my favorite artist. I did, as you can see, soft lines not too detailed, with meadowy colors, like deep blues, greens, pale pinks, scarlet.â
âThis lady to Rayâs right is Lana Del Rey. She's, like Ray, is an American songwriter and singer but she does indie rock. So I did both dark and light blue and purples, she actually sings about blue, both the color and type of music, quite a lot in her songs. So I thought it would be fitting.â She finished with a smile.
âI still have a quite a few artist I need to paint, such Damion Suomi, Lukas Graham, oh and lots of oldiesâ her eyes lit up even more âBing Crosby, Â Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Louis Armstrong, and maybe a couple more.â
âSorryâ she makes an âopsâ expression âYou had to witness my artist rant.â
I shook my head âNo, it's fine. It's nice to hear someone talk so passionately about something they love.â
âHave you heard of any of these artist?â She asks as she points to her works.
âNo, I'm an oldies person, like you.â I walked to center of the room wear a bench is and sat down, (Y/N) joins me. âI don't listen to new stuff much. But I'll look them up.â I gave her a crack of a smile.
âYou really are from the 1940sâ she laughs âDo you have the Tardis around the corner or something?â She smiles at me.
âI might say yes, if I knew what that was.â
She placed her hand on her chest and gasped as if I just insulted her. âYou've never heard of Dr. Who?! Have you've been living under rock or something? Well now you know to add that your list to look up.â
âI guess I should tell what I'm talking about, since  you're obviously from the 40s.â She joked âDr. Who is a British t.v. about a time traveler who named the Doctor, he time travels by traveling in the Tardis. I won't say a thing else so I don't spoil anything for you, but I highly recommend watching it.â
âWill do, dollâ I say
(Y/N) blushes at my nickname, again.
She let out a long yaw. Put a hand over her mouth.
âSorry about that, I guess my body and mind had an agreement to shut down.â She said then wiping her watery eyes.
I looked at the clock on the wall.
âNearly four. That went by quickly.â
âI guess I'll be going then.â I said then stood up.
âGoodnight.--Or should I say good day, James.â She smiled Â
It was few seconds before I made an actions to leave. Not wanting to leave her calm present yet.
âHave a good dayâ I smile âdoll.â
She giggled and I walked away. As I opened the door she called my name.
âYou're always welcome, my arms always open.â She said Â
âThank youâ
I turned to walk again but (Y/N) said : Wait, sorry I promise this is the last time. Let me write down my phone number so you can call me whenever you come over here.â
She grabs a card from a table picks up a pen to write down her number. âHere's my business card it has both my business number and personal number.â
âThanks againâ I say as I took the card from her hand.
âMy pleasureâ
-Two Weeks- /Your PoV/
*Buzz* *Buzz* *Buzz*
I wake up with groan, looked at my alarm clock
â3:00 am, Jesus who's calling me at this hour?â
I pick my phone.
âIt's Jamesâ
âHelloâ I answer with groggy voice.
âCould you come to park,..by your studio. It's fine...if you don't,.. I completely understand.â
âI'll be in there ten minutes.â
I hang up and throw my blanket. I rush to put some decent clothing, I grab my phone and rush out my door.
I found James sitting on the park bench bent over with his elbows resting on his knees and his forehead rest in his hands.
I walked up to him and squatted in front of him âJames?â I say softly
He slowly looks up to me. I can see in the lamp light his eyes are wet and red.
âOh, Jamie.â I take his face gently into my hands. I pull him in my arms as I sink to my knees, holding him tightly as his body shakes and his tears wet my chest.
He moves his face into the crook of my neck and breathes deeply in and out. After a few minutes his breath is normal and no longer shaking.
âJames, what did you dream of this time?â
He faces me, taking my cheek into his hand. I thought he was going say something, but didn't. He did quite the unexpected. He pulls me into a longing kiss.
His hand goes to jaw and deepens the kiss. My hand runs through his hair while the other is on his neck, stroking his jaw with my thumb.
We pull away with his hand still in cheek, stroking it.
âGod, I don't deserve you, youâre too good for me.â He whispers
I nod in disagreement âShh, don't say that, it's not true.â I smile, still stroking his jaw. âI could hold you in my arms, forever.â
âJames, I swear if this is some kind of prank I'm going to kill you.â
I chuckle at her âthreatâ.
âI promise you'll love it, doll.â I reassure her
âYep, you sound like a psychopath killer. You've blindfolded and now you're about to push me into a meat grinder, or something.â
âOnly a psycho killer would think that.â I joke
I stop and (Y/N) did the same. I went behind her and whispered in her ear: You made my dreams come true by being my girl, so I want to make your dreams come true too.â Â
I untie the blindfold and she let a shriek: OH MY LORD JESUS CHRIST MY SAVIOR Â IN HEAVEN!â She looked in awe at the small lighthouse. âYou did not James Buchanan Barnes! What did do to deserve you?! This too much, I-â she turned to me with watery eyes.
She pulled me into a hug. âThank you, my dear James, you're too good for me.â
âI believe it's the other way around doll.â I smile âI quite like you calling me âmy dearâ. Should I start calling you my dearest or somethinâ?â
She giggled âCall me yours. Come on I want a house tour.â She runs towards the front door me soon following.
âI'd rather call you my wifeâ
THE END
A/N- I hope I suffocated you with my fluff ;)

How much do you usually invest in a con?
Kiriska: Not quite sure how to answer a question this broad, honestly. :o Investment is both constant and on a per-con basis.
Iâm nine years into the convention game. A lot of the supplies I got nine years ago I still use, but a lot of things have been gradually replaced over the years. I couldnât say how much my initial round of supplies cost for my first con ever, but it was probably less than $100 for PVC, tablecloth, and a handful of prints. Nattosoup has a great post about AA essentials for under $30.
Over time, Iâve replaced tablecloths, gotten banners, ordered round after round after round of business cards, gotten new sets of PVC, wooden display racks, new suitcases, etc, etc. Investment is constant, both for promotion, visibility, and just to make my life easier.Â
Product investment is also constant. I donât order product on a per-con basis anymore and usually expect for orders to last 3-4 cons, depending on the set of shows. For example, I have three cons coming up in rapid succession in the next month and I just ordered like $600 worth of prints. Just prints. Doesnât include other products or supplies.
But again, Iâve been doing this a long time. I have a bunch of big cons in a row. I know which prints are likely to do well, so I order a lot of them. Nine years ago when I first started, I wouldâve never spent $600 on prints. Hell, five years ago I wouldânâtâve. My experiences arenât necessarily applicable to everyone else though.
You can invest as much or as little as youâd like. Return on investment doesnât always scale the way youâd expect or hope. Some shows turn out better than others, and some investments are more worthwhile than others. But again, not everyone is gonna have the same experience, so itâs important for every artist to experiment on their own and see what works and doesnât work for them specifically.
Nattosoup: Like Kiri, my convention game is a several year investment (going on seven, at this point). My first con, I invested in a tablecloth, some plate stands, some mini comics (three I believe, at 10 copies each), and not much else. Sales were not good. Over the years, the investments Iâve found to have been worthwhile, for MY setup and MY merch were:
Money:
Attending and researching conventions to see if theyâre a good fit for me and my work
Printing copies of my comic, 7âł Kara, to sell
Printing copies of my mini comics, especially my themed sketchbooks- Japantrip, Magical Girl March, Favorite Fictional Femmes
Getting banners printed (6âČx2âČ, 3âČx2âČ)
Tablecloth
Wire grids, and ADDITIONAL wire grids
Display materials- cake stands, easels, magnets
Mini prints
Square/card reader
Commission supplies- papers, pencils, ink, watercolors
Mailing supplies
Time:
Developing a blog and an audience
Developing a Twitter presence and engaging my peers
Developing a Tumblr audience
Developing an Instagram audience
Past conventions spent talking to potential customers, completing commissions in a timely fashion
Engaging other artists as friends and potential con-mates (hotel shares, table shares, getting tips on where product is made)
We have years of con reviews and con tutorials here on the blog that should hopefully help you decide which investments are right for you, your wares, and your interests!

Chapter 1: Crashed pilot
Esta es la versiĂłn en inglĂ©s. Para la versiĂłn en español, haz click aquĂ.
In the outskirts of Strangetown, around 10 AM. A spaceship crashes in the middle of a desert, although no one realizes⊠because itâs a desert. A figure rises among the debris, and⊠???: Bob, stop it already, no oneâs listening.
Bob?: Just let me be, Iâm practicing for when I write my novel about this.
???: And how exactly are you going to write your novel without arms?
Bob?: I donât need your obsolete extremities to write a novel!
Anyway, what I was saying. The figure rises, andâŠ
???: Are you really going to continue? Havenât I told you already plenty of times how insufferable your voice is? Bob: And havenât I told youâŠ? Iâll just shut up.
This irritating guy here is Ăg-HĂčk Ahgsakmengdf, from planet SiMars. Heâs gren, with black eyes, and really really unbearable. Plus, thereâs nothing he cares more about than money. He was the pilot of the crashed spaceship, so there you have the cause of the accident.
And Iâm⊠I am PlumBob, his⊠Well, I have a complicated relationship with Ăg-HĂčk. Theoretically, my job is making sure that he didnât fuck up, but I am obviously not very good at it.
Ăg-HĂčk: Are you going to finish sometime soon?
Bob: Just shut up! Anyway, my name is PlumBob, but everyone calls me Bob.
Ăg-HĂčk: Well, Iâm calling you Boobs.
Ăg, which is what his friends call him.
Ăg-HĂčk: Youâre not my friend. Bob: Thatâs it! I just wanted to make you feel less alone after all thatâs happened, but I can see that you donât appreciate my company. From now on Iâll write my novel without you as a beta reader, and Iâll call you horrible things and you wonât know, because you wonât be listening!
Then I made an evil laugh that sounded way better in my head.
Ăg-HĂčk: You DO know youâre still talking out loud, right?
Bob: âŠ
Anyway, Ăg is a really really clean simartian, he canât stand seeing anything dirty. If only he were able to clean the shit heâs got on his headâŠ
But he wasnât all bad. At the end of the day, he was a simartian, and as such he was a great builder. In just two seconds he managed to improvise a house.
And with things he was able to salvage from the spaceship, he managed to furnish it⊠more or less. At least it was cozy.
Once the house in which he were to stay until they came for him was finished, he decided to follow that path he found close to his âhomeâ.
After having walked a bit, Ăg found a bunch of buildings, which seemed like a proof of intelligent life. So he decided to investigate a bit, and what other way of investigating than sitting down in a bench to rest after all that walking.
Once he was rested, he went to communicate with the inhabitants of the planet. Of course, they didnât speak his language, but luckily I am able of getting in other peopleâs heads and transmit to them by feelings what Ăg-HĂčk is saying, so it looks like they speak the same language.
Ăg-HĂčk: Hello, I want to mate, can I kiss you in order to put my embryo inside you?
Sales clerk: Ew, gross.
Ăg-HĂčk: What? I just wanted to integrate myself in your society. Isnât reproduction your ultimate goal? Hm, maybe life in this planet is more advanced that I initially expected.
Sales clerk: What the fuck are you talking about?
So after such a succesfull talk, he set out to leave the shop, when he found a familiar face.
Ăg-HĂčk: Excuse me, do we know each other?
Bella: Are you Pollination Technician 9âČs family?
Ăg-HĂčk: No, but I do know him. Iâm sorry but, have you ever been abducted?
Bella: âŠ
Ăg-HĂčk: Bella? Bella, of course! I know you now, we abdupted you from Pleasantview and brought you to this planet. I was on the ship that abducted you! Donât you remember?
Bella: âŠ
Ăg-HĂčk: Whatâs wrong? Bella?
Bella: I was trying to remember, but⊠I canât.
Ăg-HĂčk: Of course you donât, we erased your memory so you wouldnât remember anything.
Bella: So how did you expect me to remember?
Not only was Ăg-HĂčk extremely clean, he was also an idiot.
When he returned âhomeâ, he realized that someone had left a newspaper in his door, so he read it and found a bunch of job offers. He thought it would be a good thing to have a little money to improve the âhouseâ while he was on this planet, so he accepted the best paid job, pickpocket.
And with the money he âmadeâ by âworkingâ he managed to improve the house, even if it was by just getting a better bed.
Bella, curiously, spent a lot of time around, and Ăg-HĂčk didnât seem to mind at all.
And they didnât take too long to use the new bed for the first time⊠I was not expecting Ăg-HĂčk to have a thing for terrestrial women⊠Itâs kinda gross, but then again Iâm just a robot with no intentions of love so thereâs few things I can say about it.
After a few weeks, Ăg could bear it no longer and had to demonstrate his love for Bella once and for all, so he went to the spaceship in search for anything shiny, fuse it to a ring and propose to her. And of course I had to watch the whole shitshow.
Although that was better than THIS
But letâs not go too far down the line. Before that, they had to marry, as it is very normal to marry the same day in SiMars, which is what they did.
And with the money that Bella brought with herself, it was possible to extend the house a bit more.
In the meantime, Ăg had to become more creative if he wanted to progress in his career. So, just like the thief he was, he stole an easel from his boss and started to paint on it.
And when he was not painting, he sat down and started drinking while watching everyone who passed in front of the house with his X-ray vision that allowed him to see though the walls.
And it seemed that Bella got sick for some reason, as she spent a few days puking. Either that, or she was grossed out by Ăg, which I would fully understand, but didnât seem to be the case.

First Day
Ah, Monday. If you donât know me, Dear Reader, then let me explain right now: I hateâ first daysâ of anything. Itâs only because I seem to have this curse, where anytime I start something new, something happens the day or week before to make that first day a little miserable. One time, I was just starting a new job at this bakery, and I had sand- burned my legs at the beach the day before, so they were all red and raw. When I started at Payless Shoes as a sales associate, I caught a cold the day before and had no voice and a non-stop dripping nose and coughing spells that made me have tears running down my face. NOW, I was hoping I would have a clean start, but no such chance. On the long walk to church the day before, I had developed a bunch of blisters on my feet ,which then popped and rubbed and bled all the way home. Now, on my first day, they were still raw and tender, and I also had mosquito bites where there werenât blisters. All night, I had been awakened by the high- pitched buzzing of mosquitos trying to land on my face. The next morning, my hands had large swollen areas from the mosquito bites, and there was also one on my face. I tried to focus on being positive, but the stress was definitely taking its toll on me.
I almost missed my bus that morning for school, because I lost track of time, and I completely forgot that I was wearing the faux pax shoe of Italy: the flip flop. I am always anywhere from five to twenty minutes early for everything. Except SOMEHOW, I always end up a half-hour late for any class of Garyâs, the first week of classes. Not sure how I do it, but it never fails to happen to me. THIS time, I was NOT going to be late for the first day. Turns out, I was about an hour early instead of the twenty minutes early I had planned for. Italian time here varies. The bus can be ten minutes early and not show up for the next half-hour, or it can be ten minutes late and almost make you miss your appointment. However, I got there plenty early!!
Getting to the school, I have to laugh now, I made a definite entrance. Everyone was staring. Everyone was shocked. The American had arrived. How did I make this GRAND entrance? I tripped. OK, HEAR ME OUT. I am not clumsy, I swear. I have never tripped in my life, no matter how many times my brothers have shoved their legs out in front of me, inviting me to fall on my face. Now, HERE I AM, TRIPPING IN ITALY, with the school that has some of the best artists in the world, Iâm talking, âBest of the best of the best, SIRâŠâŠwith honors!â (Will Smith, Men in Black 1). See, this gate that you go through for the academy opens, but it leaves a giant metal bar six inches off the ground at the bottom that you have to step over. No warning sign. You just have to know to look down so that you can step over it. And I didnât look down. I didnât fall flat on my face; I caught myself in time, but my pride went out the window at that moment. âHello, yes, dumb American over here. Donât mind me.â Vicki, who was with me, asked if I was okay, and when I lifted my jeans, I found that my superior extensor retinaculum (Iâm not smart; I, legit, just googled that) was completely scraped up and had a large black- looking bruise on it. To put in simply, YEAH, I WAS IN PAIN. Take a sledge hammer and whack your superior extensor foot part. Thatâs what I did. My nerves didnât let up, either. While I was trying to pay with my euro bills for a silverpoint class after that, my hands were shaking, and I couldnât find the right bills. Poor Rosemary, the secretary, thought I couldnât count or didnât know how to work the bills. At that point, I was making up a t-shirt design in my head that read in bold, black impact letters, âDUMB AMERICAN HERE.â For the record, I actually understand European money really well. The higher the numbers get, the higher the worth of the bill. Boom.
I figured once I started class, I would get into my groove. I would be in MY area of expertise. Actually, Iâm not all that awesome at it, but my point is that I would be more confident  at drawing than anything else Iâd been doing the past week. NOPE. NOPE. ALL wrong. Listen to this, though, because, WOW, it is all so incredible, and as much as I struggled HARDCORE, I learned so much.
I stood at my easel and was about to start drawing, when I was told, no, you need to sharpen your pencil.
âYeah, ok. My pencil was a little blunt, I guess.â
âNo, not sharpen, but literally use a knife and slice that pencil until you get AT LEAST an inch of lead hanging out ,and then sharpen the bajeezers out of that.â
âOk, wow, thatâs interesting! Sounds great! Can I draw now?â
âNo, you need to hold your pencil differently. Not near the end, like you are writing, but at or near the end of the pencil, to be able to make longer and quicker strokes.â
âWonderful! Bene! Sounds great. Ok!â
âGood. Now why are you standing so close?â
âClose?â
âStep back. You should be at an armâs length from your board with the left edge of the board (if youâre right handed) in the middle of you, your board turned slightly towards the model. Make sure the left foot is pointing to the model and the other foot towards your drawing. OH, and now put tape along your feet where you are standing, so you know youâre always in the right spot.â
I was geeking out, to be honest. I WAS BEING A REAL ARTIST!!!!!! But this was a lot to remember and practice all at once. I started to hold out my pencil to measure the distance from the top of my modelâs head to the ground, when I was given more instructions! We measure not with a pencil or stick, but with a piece of string with a large metal washer tied to the end. We then measure with our arms spread wide. We hold the string up evenly to parts of the model as we measure up or down, and you then mark on the paper where the string hits.
We were then taught to make an abstract drawing using small to long lines quickly, to just outline the figure. âThe more abstract the better,â Simone, my teacher, keeps telling me. And believe me, it is hard. I believe in trying to make the figure look good from the beginning. Now we needed to make an abstract potato- shape and whittle it down to a form. However, as Simone is teaching me, the chiseling process actually gets one to a more accurate drawing. She showed me to even build with basic shapes first, like triangles, circles, and ovals. I was taught to start with the feet and then find my way up the body and focus on the way the body is connected, in order to find the middle vertical line, and then work off of that. Then focus on the skeleton and what it is doing under the skin. That was surprising to me. I copied master works for figure drawing, and it also showed me how important it was to get each line to show the curve of the muscles under the skin. Visualizing the skeleton and how it was moving, combined with watching for how the muscles were being tensed, made a huge difference for me in drawing a figure. In class at home, we were just trying so hard to show legs, arms, and trunk, we forgot about what makes all that up.
Another very important step that I really struggle with, is looking at the overall picture. I am great at picking up details. But if you donât squint and pick up the large cutouts of overall darks and lights, the details mean nothing. I have struggled with that so much in class. My Professor, Thia, and classmate, Mark, were telling me before that I needed to focus more on that.
ITâS SUCH AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!! Itâs really a lot to learn, and it is VERY, VERY intense and VERY overwhelming, but it makes me just want to work harder and perfect this. The other day, I must have spent four hours on a practice drawing of a figure pulling a rope, and even though I REALLY struggled through it, the end result was just beautiful and so worth it. I really am learning to be patient with myself and drawing,to see the bigger picture in life and in the drawing, and to have humility. Also, I need to hustle harder. I ALWAYS hear you tubers, who are getting big and famous, to âput yourself out thereâ, to âget out of your comfort zoneâ, and it really is true, I am finding. It is exhilarating to go through a trial, and whether you enjoyed it or not, to be able to say at the very end, that you did it. You accomplished that, and YOU LEARNED. Itâs also become a joy for me to know that I worked HARD on something. I didnât just show up to class and draw and leave. I got there early and practiced; I did the class,; I went home, and then I practiced some more and then repeated it again. It really does make you feel good, and it just fuels you on to do more. And the best thing? Only good can come from that hustle.

re: Easy to follow woodworking plans Dear Woodworking Enthusiast,
I f you are reading this page then it is likely that we have something in common.

Good news is, I have packaged all of my plans together and put them into an easy to use format to make your life so much easierâŠ.

re: Easy to follow woodworking plans Dear Woodworking Enthusiast,

I am also going to assume that you have a big problem. Â You see I had the same problem in the past so I understand.

Good news is, I have packaged all of my plans together and put them into an easy to use format to make your life so much easierâŠ.

re: Easy to follow woodworking plans Dear Woodworking Enthusiast,
I f you are reading this page then it is likely that we have something in common.
