Ok, so I've done a little research and rewatches of the previous midseason finales, and I think I have a few ideas of where this could go.
Firstly, no NDE. If there is a NDE, which I still think is very possible this season, it's most likely going to occur after the mid-season break. I went back and looked at all of the episodes that have the big, most memorable NDEs from all the characters, and all of them are after the mid-season break or early at the beginning of the season. So, while I do think this foreshadowing is going somewhere, it's not going to happen next week.
So, where does that leave us?
We know a few things from the articles that were released this past week (I'll link the ones I'm talking about in case you want to read them yourselves). One, that loose ends are going to be tied up from the last 8 episodes. Two, that there is not going to be a big cliffhanger, but that one character will be hanging off a cliff. And three, that there is going to "Wait what now? What did you say? moment.
Those are really the big ones. There were a few other things like the actor who plays Brad saying that him and Eddie have a connecting moment in the next episode, which I think can play into one of the things I'm going to talk about.
And really, anything that I read in an article I take with a grain of salt. They can't tell us exactly what's going to happen, and also have misdirected multiple times in the past. Whether that be intentional or unintentional. However, there are some things in the above articles that I think have some truth.
In the previous midseason finales, a good majority of the storylines of the first half of the season were wrapped up. They played their part, and provided the characters a chance to move forward in the next half of the season.
Just some examples. In the s2 finale, Eddie reintroduced Shannon to Christopher, ending that particular conflict between them. In s3, Bobby got his test results from that radiation exposure, and Maddie confronts the memory of Doug again to let him go. In season 4, Eddie tells Chris about Ana, and Maddie and Chimney discuss birth plans. All of these things both close certain parts of their storylines, while open up continuation points for the second half.
Then, toward the end of the episode, there is something that acts as a cliffhanger to keep the audience entertained over the break. Most of the time, it is something that happens to a singular character, and isn't as large as a NDE or giant conflict.
Again, some more examples. In s2, Doug reappears pretending to be Jason Bailey. In s3, we find out that Michael has a brain tumor. In s4, Buck is reintroduced to Taylor and they decide to become friends. s5, Eddie leaves the 118. s6 Wendall is killed. And then in s7, even though a short break, Buck invites Tommy to the Madney wedding.
All things that compel the audience to continue watching, while also not being gigantic cliffhangers where the character's life is immediately in danger.
So, where does that leave us for s8?
There are only two main things that haven't been wrapped up, or really talked about, since the beginning of the season. Bathena's house, and Chris in Texas.
And one of these things has actually been discussed in an interview with Peter after episode 7, where he says that won't be discussed until after the hiatus. Or at least "he didn't know anything about it yet". Which yeah, that could be a misdirect. But I couldn't see that being the big thing that leaves someone hanging off a cliff. It's just too inconsequential and also involves two characters instead of one.
This leads me to the other unwrapped plot point, Christopher. Who has basically been MIA since the first episode, except for little nods here and there from Eddie. And honestly, that pisses me off. There has only been a little growth from Eddie while Chris was gone, something that was promised as an opportunity for Eddie to realize who he is.
It's safe to say that I really hope that Eddie is the one left on the cliff hanger next episode. I initially wanted Chris to be the one to initiate a phone call with Eddie, extending his side of the olive branch, but I'm not so sure that's the direction they're going in anymore.
Jumping away from that for a moment, I want to address that possible conversation between Brad and Eddie. Assuming that this scene doesn't get cut for time (which they have been doing with a few scenes talked about in episodes recently), I have a strong inkling that it could be about estranged kids. Brad mentioned having a bunch of ex-wives, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that he has a child with one of them. And given how he treated the waitress in the last episode, it would not surprise me if he treated the mother horribly, and also did not step up as a parent.
I think that route could be interesting for Eddie since it would maybe remind him of his father. And therefore, all the ways he tried to be better than his father. It could make him want to take a step forward, now that he is learning to not punish himself for this, and try to reconnect with Chris again.
Which I think will lead to the hanging off the cliff moment, as well as the "wait what" moment.
I don't think Eddie's going to be able to connect with Chris, but his mother. And his mother is going to say that Chris wants to stay with them a little longer, further continuing her path of keeping Chris away from Eddie.
And then in a perfect world, Eddie gets his ass on a plane to talk to his son face-to-face because he can't trust his mother to be the main method of communication. But who the fuck knows if that is actually going to happen.
They've also, from what I've heard, finished filming ep 9. Which probably doesn't mean a lot, but it makes me think that some scenes in ep 9 might need to be filmed with how they look in ep 8 for continuity reasons. Or maybe it was just a contract thing, idk. Again, probably meaningless but that is weird.

so i finished my rewatch of s1-s3 and new watch of s4-s7 of the 100 aaanddd i wanna ramble
spoilers and, from what i've gathered, unpopular opinions under the cut lmao
i watched the first three seasons in 2015-16, iirc (binged s1 and s2 on netflix; watched s3 as it aired)--i remember losing interest towards the end of s3 so i wasn't super hyped about s4 and just kinda forgot about it. on rewatch, i was also getting bored with s3, lmao. it starts off pretty strong, and the end revelation is a banger, but the last 4 eps or so just draaaggggg
i really liked seasons 4 and 5, though, with one big exception: giving clarke a daughter-figure to go all mama bear over was quite possibly one of the most obnoxious character development choices they could have given her
clarke in general is kind of a frustrating character for me because on one hand, i fuckin love a female character who does awful things for what she believes are good reasons, and that is clarke 100%
but in spite of that awesome set up, she manages to be so fucking boring
i think a lot of it is the actress' performance, tbh--the acting on the show overall generally isn't anything spectacular, but i find her particularly bad. i cant quite pinpoint my gripes, i just find her very bland
and given that the show is basically one extended trolley problem and there are dozens of characters who are also constantly put in the position of making the most difficult decisions in the universe, that just isn't enough to make her compelling
i found myself really drawn to echo in the later seasons because i am predictable af and i love a character who is loyal to a fault and bases their entire identity off being a loyal follower. i do feel like the relationship with bellamy was a little shoehorned, though. like i see the enemies to lovers potential there, but i think having most of that transition happen off-screen took all the fun from it
and i was stunned when i went looking for echo gifs to find out that most people hate her but love clarke apparently, lmao. hard opposite
s5 also delved into one of my favorite dark apocalypse tropes: what will push people to become cannibals to survive? it's always been a morbid fascination and i wasn't expecting them to get as fucked up with it as they did, but it was compelling shit
s6 had interesting elements to it--the worldbuilding/lore i think is part of the reason i got so sucked into the show, and seeing how becca's influence managed to reach a whole other planet was cool. i also liked the personality chip stuff bc it gave me ideas for valerie, haha. i also liked russel as an antagonist--love a very polite and calm villain being pushed to their limits
but i could see it was starting to lead into a setup for a whole metaphysical aspect to everything that had happened, and i just really don't like that shit
oh, also, kane and abby were my absolute favorite couple and i'm very sad they didn't get their HEA
so s7 was very meh to me. lovedlovedloved echo, dioyza, octavia, and hope getting to be badasses together, but that's about it. the transcendentalist shit was so fucking tedious, and bellamy got done dirty. and i've found myself overly fixated on the logistics of the "finalkru" situation with clarke and her buddies living on earth for the rest of their lives with no hopes of procreation or extending the human race
like at some point there's just gonna be one person remaining, right? and they have to spend their remaining days all alone? unless they do some kind of death pact? or how exactly do the transcendents ensure there are no babies? can the humans undo this? like what if they clone themselves or do in vitro fertilization? i have questions!!!
i don't mind a story ending with unanswered questions--i even really like that sometimes--but ending with a bunch of new unanswered questions is annoying lmao
plus i find the premise of finalkru surviving and maybe trying to figure out a way to continue the human race to be more interesting than 87% of the plot of s7
also two of the big themes throughout the show was never giving up hope and always seeking to rediscover their humanity after doing horrible shit--i just don't feel like this ending really tied those motifs up in a satisfying way. 99.9% of the human population no longer experiencing pain because they basically don't exist anymore feels less like a reward for Good Behavior and more... idk, just unsettling to me.
i mean, it's basically sci-fi rapture, and the whole idea of the rapture always freaked me out too lmao
i know the show is based on books, which i haven't read and don't plan to, so maybe some of this would be better explained there, but i've also seen commentary that it deviates a lot from the novels so who knows
anyway, i do like the show overall. there's a lot of juicy stuff here, but very weak ending. reminded me a bit of how i felt watching lost, actually, although not as egregious

I’m happy to see aro rep but I think I’ll headcanon Myuna to be bi if that’s ok. I hope she ends up with Chen though. I’m a sucker for romance.
I stopped watching the dragon prince after season 4 cause I disliked season 4 so much. I’m afraid of picking up season 5. I loved the first 3 seasons though especially season 3 had lots of rayllum scenes.
Honestly I’m tempted to rewatch the whole thing just to get to the pirate arc. I remember loving Callum and Rayla as a couple in season 3 but again season 4 really wasn’t my cup of tea.
I think she can definitely be a bi oriented aroace (I don't think the gender of her partners would matter to her) so why not both? I'm pan and ace and aro spec myself!
Honestly I loved S4 but that's because I liked what it did with stuff theme / character wise (i.e. love isn't always good and you will do awful things for the people you love), and I always expected Callum and Rayla to begin to have to jump the hurdle of "Rayla's trauma makes her hyperindependent and that's detrimental to her core relationships" so I like that we're finally getting to it cause I'd been waiting for it since like s2. It's not the happiest part of their arc by far but it's absolutely something they've always needed to address. (I also like filler and I think S4 was a great season for Ezran). I know most people (even ones who didn't like S4) LOVE s5 and have it as their favourite or 2nd favourite season (usually with s2 or s3 as their other fave); it's my second favourite as well after s3 and S5 has my favourite Rayllum scenes / development by far.
These are just some of my fave moments from the first two episodes and I don't want to give away more spoilers but like. S5 is so freaking good on like all counts but particularly for these two, and I cannot wait to see where everything goes - it does a great job at offering pay off for S4, developing its own thing, and steering things ahead for S6. Also has some of the most interesting imagery / development for the show thus far in terms of dreams/nightmares, and Kim'Dael is a treat all on her own as an antagonist in the Sunfire elf plot line
Some of my best stuff on AO3 is also just post S4 if you're interested like "older but just never wiser" and "this fall just might kill me" both of which ended up being predictive of S5 in some ways, which is just chef's kiss

I don’t think Pacey’s love for Joey was more mature than his love for Andie. Pacey and Andie had better boundaries and communication. Pacey and Joey argued all the time and couldn’t communicate. Pacey manipulated her into starting a conversation about sex, got upset at her the morning after they had sex because she didn’t say it was “great”, brought up Dawson even when it was unwarranted and humiliated her at prom. Joey spent a large chunk of S4 pining for the closeness she had with Dawson.
Pacey/Andie were PJ before PJ was a thing. They were frenemies to lovers, they inspired each other and grew while being in a relationship. Andie helped Pacey bring his grades up, she got his dad to show him affection. Joey didn’t know that the last thing Pacey would want to do is celebrate his birthday with his abusive family. The show keeps telling us that Joey was the only one who changed and helped Pacey or that she somehow did it better than Andie but I don’t buy it.
For the first few seasons PJ had similarities, they were underdogs and had bad home situations (I admit, I shipped them a lot!) But once Joey became the perfect dream girl, her relationship with Pacey became boring and nauseating. Pacey and Dawson cast Joey in the role they wanted her to play in their lives. I loved S5 PJ because Pacey didn’t use Joey as an emotional crutch. Unfortunately, in S6 he was putting her on a pedestal again: “my feelings for you were what proved to me that I could be great” (Love Bites). The triangle became one of the most frustrating parts of the show.
when it comes to s3-4 pj, i actually agree with most of this, which is very much why i believe they're much better in the later seasons than they are earlier. his love for joey withstood a lot of drama and growth and time apart, while his love for andie faded as soon as she told him she cheated (and as awful as andie/pa's s3 arc is, it's still canon, in all its messy, stupid glory). it's very easy to see why pj fell apart in s4 and it's very easy to see why they came back together later on. by the time they actually get back together for good, they're well into their 20s and have individually grown a lot since they last dated too.
one thing that i actually did find off-putting about pa, as much as i liked them and as nice as it was to see him get the support he needed, was how the relationship was imo consistently framed as if pacey was andie's project, and as you've said, this was done a bit with pj at the end of their high school relationship too, which is part of why i think they are much better together later in the show than they were earlier. that's also why i might like pa as much as pj if she'd been around long enough for them to have a relationship as adults too. like i can easily compare s2 pa to early pj because they were both teenage relationships, but it's hard to compare s2 pa to series finale pj. pa just didn't have the same level of development, and i DO think pj had a good amount of development by the series finale. all of the bad things you listed here vs. "the simple act of being in love with you is enough for me" shows a lot of growth! at that point, he definitely didn't need her and wasn't demanding that she love him back.
i also don't really think he used her as a crutch in s6 the way he did in s4; they hadn't been together in a few years (many more by the finale) and he was still working hard to make a good life for himself without her. but i also don't think that wanting to be as good a person as you can be for the person you love, which is what i would personally interpret that love bites quote to mean, is a bad thing or using them as an emotional crutch. even if that were what he were saying there, i don't see how that's worse than him needing andie's help so much in s2. i don't have exact quotes, but we were told how much andie helped him.

First of all, I want to clarify that I don't think klance will be canon. This post is not me saying 'klance is definitely endgame, guys!' However, I do think it would make sense. It just depends if the writers pull through or not.
But to address your points:
1. Yes, the picture was about people feeling insecure, which is exactly why I think it links to the show specifically. If it didn't, Lance, as a latino male, would be holding the race sign. In fact, so could Allura, although she works for gender as well, as a black woman. But if you want me to go into more detail: Pidge and Allura are holding the gender sign together, and both have nervous smiles. As the only females in the main cast, Pidge and Allura are representation in that area. It also links to a story arc because Allura was the first person to confront Pidge about her gender. Next, Keith and Hunk- again, this is how why I think it links to story arcs. Because Keith is white (ot at least, his ethnicity has never been confirmed whereas it's been confirmed more than once that Lance is Cuban), there's no reason for him to hold the race sign. But he is, because he had an arc relating to discovering his Galra side. (He also has a nervous expression). Hunk is holding the sign with him. Hunk played a part supporting Keith in the galra arc. Finally, Shiro and Lance. Again, if this was about real people feeling insecure, only Shiro would have the LGBT sign. But Lance has it too (and a nervous expression), meaning that he is LGBT. If you need any more evidence, Voltron was heavily inspired by a show called Robotech, particularly in the earth arc. In Robotech, a character lost her boyfriend in the earth attack. This parallels Shiro and Adam. Said character went on to help two other characters with their romances.
2. There are many posts you can find with the Keith/Allura and Lance/Allura parallels, with screencaps, but to sum it up: the Allura/Lance arc didn't properly start until s4. In s1-s2, all we got was Lance flirting and her being annoyed. In s3, they had that scene outside Blue, but no other one on one interaction. As for the parallels, Lance had a scene with both Keith and Allura talking about the lion switch. In s5, their scene with Lance's broadsword is similar to the s3 klance bedroom scene, where Lance is given reassurance regarding his insecurities. In s6, Lance comforts Allura after Lotor, in a scene similar to one with Keith in s3, when he gave Keith advice about leadership. Finally, in s6e1, the scene where Allura saves Lance is similar to the klance bonding moment (Keith/Allura saves Lance, holds his hand, mutual smiling) and Lance even says 'we make a great team'.
3. Ezor and Zethrid tease Keith and Acxa about their 'true love'. Acxa seems to have an interest in Keith. She even followed him to earth. I have no idea what the intention is here. As for Shiro and Keith, ship what you like but their relationship isn't exactly 'up for interpretion' in the canon context.
As for Lance and Allura, yes, Lance has always been interested in Allura. However, Allura has never shown romantic interest in Lance. When she hears about his feelings in season 6, she looks sad and worried. She doesn't even blush. So, no interest in Lance still. After that, she is still into Lotor and kisses him. This is a very weird set up for an endgame romance in my opinion, but as I said, it's a possibility.
4. Yes, I know she ended things with Lotor. But as the Lance/Allura romance is now, very few people are happy with it, and the only way I can see it working well is if Lotor comes back and shows an interest in Allura but Allura chooses Lance instead. But that's just my opinion.
5. Yes, but they also said Dreamworks had no problem with Shiro being LGBT. I think they recorded the alternative scene because homophobic countries wouldn't allow the show on netflix otherwise (although I could be wrong there).
6. I think this all comes down to personal interpretation. I always saw Lance and Keith as friends who tease each other but have an underlying fondness for each other, which was especially evident from Keith s1-s3. If you disagree, you just see their relationship differently.
I would actually argue that the Keith/Shiro, Keith/Lance and Lance/Allura relationships are all the most prominent and most developed in the show. Keith and Lance's dynamic developed a lot in s1-s3. S4-s6 were all short seasons, so they haven't been apart for as long as people think. In s6, a lot of focus was given to Lance's reaction to Keith's return for some reason. In s7, Lance and Allura barely interacted until that blushing scene, whereas Lance and Keith had several interactions.
IF klance is endgame, here's how it would work:
S1-S3: Keith shows interest in Lance, Lance doesn't reciprocate
S4-S6: Keith leaves the team. Lance has interactions with Allura similar to the ones he had with Keith. Allura falls for Lotor. Lance is sad. Keith returns and Lance shows signs of interest in him ('bigger, cooler, grizzled').
S7-S8: Allura shows interest in Lance and Acxa shows interest in Keith. Keith still likes Lance, but is jealous (shown by his conflicting words and actions; for example, he chooses Lance to escape the game, but hides his reason for it). Lance is confused because he likes Allura and Keith and feels like Allura's second choice. Keith and Lance have weird tension. Lance and Shiro talk. Lance chooses Keith, klance is endgame.
Kudos to anyone who reads all this, haha. As I said, I do NOT think klance is going to be canon. But if it is, this is how it will work, and these are the signs we've been given. I could be badly wrong, but it's fun to theorize, and in the meantime there are over 21000 klance fics on ao3, so I won't be holding out hope for season 8. This is for you optimists out there.
