after rebloging two dungeons and daddies posts and me slightly complaining abt the podcast in the tags i realize im admitting to myself that dndads wasnt as good as it used to be.

theres just no heart in it anymore??? like i listen to every episode every other Tuesday because thats what ive been doing since 2019 but its literally not the same. its not funny hit after funny hit its confusing plots and super long bits and Anthony letting the players do whatever they want confusingly.

its genuinely so disheartening to see and realize that as much as they want to be a serious drama they literally dont have the capabilities for it and especially not with these characters.

i hated Scary Marlowe because she was written terribly. shes someone i wouldve made at age 9 trying to make a edgy oc. some of the most recent episodes where she went "insane" and turned back into normal terry again just solidified it. the vibes were bad and weird with her whenever there was a emotional arc attempted with her tldr.

Normals romance with Hermie was rlly cute at first !!! then it got so so bad. thats all i have to say abt that.

Link is doing perfect i love him. literally impeccable. his motivations and character development makes sense. hes the only character i prefer over their S1 counterpart. hes doing great.

i ranted abt this last reblog but Taylor shouldnt exist and the worst thing they did in S1 was just kill off Glenn like he was nothing and have Nick be a entirely different kid from a DIFFERENT DIMENSION WITH A DIFFERENT FATHER. shit pissed me off so bad i remember listening to that episode and thinking "so theyre gonna get Glenn back with his kid right. right."

do you think that winx club season 3 gets way too much praise and is overrated, or is it justified?

i mean? yes and no? the first three seasons are hailed as the best for a reason, and while i do actually like the later seasons and appreciate the ones i don't, a mix of nostalgia and the first three seasons (and first movie) having been planned out from the start will usually beat the rest.

season 3 itself has a lot of memorable and favored aspects! the winx are now a fully established group and are close friends, the big bad villain feels much scarier and more impactful than the previous ones, enchantix, the girls are dealing with extremely traumatic events (which they did before of course but the whole sacrifice for enchantix thing amplifies it), and it genuinely feels like somewhat of a closure to their youth while also being a beginning of their maturity. They're all making really big decisions in s3, ones that affect other people too. S1 and s2 are still wonderful in their own right, but they've been leading up to s3 in very direct ways.

I don't think s3 being overhyped is a bad thing honestly. There are plenty of people who have criticized its shortcomings! Not to mention, it's really not just s3 that gets "overrated". All of the first three seasons get overhyped and hailed as the best, totally perfect seasons, especially in comparison to the later ones. I do think this is a little unfair since s5 and s6, while having plenty of bullshit, are really nice seasons and most people would like them if they had come out earlier. Nostalgia does play a big factor in how much people are willing to.. idk... be nice to the seasons? There are a lot of things in the later seasons that most fans would genuinely be fond of but aren't willing to give a chance specifically because it's from a later season. (like s7 is literally my least favorite season out of all of them (yes including s8) but even then it still has aspects that i genuinely enjoy.)

a big reason why s3 feels overhyped is that people aren't willing to even talk about the later seasons. so like... yes s3 is a little overhyped, and yes i do think people should give the later seasons a chance, but in the same vein, i don't think it's Bad that s3 gets so much praise. there are so many aspects of s3 that are just so good and i don't think it's wrong for fans to praise them! i don't think we should be praising s3 less, but i do think we should have more room for the other seasons and more tolerance for genuine enjoyment of them.

my problem with iwtb... I think?

Okay Im not sure Im eloquent enough to meta my feelings on this topic, I also havent seen enough past season 8s finale to really have perfect opinions on this, but from the clips I see on here and reddit etc. I have issues I need to work out…  

There is something about the characterisation of Mulder in IWTB that really annoys me. And please correct me if Im wrong on his motivations. Usually my protest is the mistreatment of Scully. But in this case I think theres a certain mistreatment of Mulder’s character that really irks the shit out of me. 

Firstly Mulder comes off as Tom Brady in this movie. So single minded and stuck in his ways he couldn’t possibly figure out how to live his life without the one thing that he thinks makes him successful or that he lives for. Two things... its the wrong obsession (more on that in a moment) and this is the opposite of where his character has been hurtling since he met Scully so as written it makes no sense.

The thing mulder was obsessed with and searching for since he was 13 years old was solved. He got his answer when he found out what happened to his sister. He was freed from his lifelong quest. He even was ready to give the agent thing up in the s7 finale, telling Scully the price had been too high and she needed to stop. Meaning he would also be stopping, bc he never wanted to do it without her. Sure he wanted to keep fighting in 8 to protect his baby, but they got rid of the baby atp, so Im not gonna get into that rn.

Turning him into the FBI agent ghost of Tom Brady was… a choice. Throwing away the love of his life, the one who believed him, the one who listened and supported him and loved him back endlessly for what? To help the organisation that tried to murder him? No. I just dont really believe it at all, because it's just not believable. 

Secondly, would he maybe have a midlife crisis? Sure. Would he be lost or depressed? I could absolutely see it, they lost a child found out the aliens were taking over earth. Would Scully commit him rather than leave him alone in that house? For sure. And it would’ve apparently been the culmination of the plot line Morgan and Wong had worked towards since the beginning... 

Realistically, he might've been lost for a while with the end of the quest for his sister. I get it, you work your entire life for something and its always just within reach and when you finally accomplish it, you think well what now? You’d thought, you’d held onto the fact that when you got to the top of the mountain you would feel happy and accomplished and relieved. But when you turn around at the summit from the horizon of the breadth of your work, youre met with yet another peak ahead. Some other goal, some other thing that occupies your mind because thats what your mind is used to.

You’re just going to have a really hard time convincing me for Mulder it was searching for proof of Aliens in random magazines, (when he knows there are aliens and they have invasion plans) instead of preventing the 2012 thing, publishing actual papers under his Luder pseudonym, and making sure Scully knew how much he loved her as his family had never done for him, making sure he made Samantha proud and lived the life she missed once he let her memory rest. 

Thirdly he is intelligent, a psych major with alien superpowers, who graduated from Oxford. Would he be bumbling around making paranormal magazine collages a la Charlie Kelly when he ALREADY knows the endgame? Would he be dealing with random cases and helping the FBI who betrayed him and put him on death row?

Or would he be using Marita Covarrubias and his apparent new power to speak to the dead to try and stop the invasion by any means necessary? Would he be combing over Maritas paperwork, medical records, UN contacts, payment histories to find, like all those bees in Tunisia for example? Would he not be having Scully research this magnetite thing and getting papers written about its properties so that when the hybrids make themselves known there would be literature for people to find? or engineering an anti bee-virus virus? (damn those effing bees btw) Would he not be using every power of his beautiful mind to continue fighting in any way he could, fully of the reservation? 

And could Scully then rightly say don’t bring that darkness into our home? Because my answer would be no. Even if she did go back to being a medical doctor (Im going to ignore the surgeon part because its out of character and would take her redoing residency etc. lets labor under the impression she’s a family doctor or ER doctor). They were right about one thing, the darkness follows them, and would still even if they both stopped looking. Thats the show after all.

Would she maybe have wanted a vacation where he could row her to a deserted island in the adirondacks? Sure. Would she be okay with letting an alien invasion happen in 2012 and saying to Mulder stop fighting? No. When one of them quits the other supports and encourages them back to the mission. Thats the show. If anything Scully having the breakdown about that darkness would’ve made more sense.

Anyway my point being, the transition from Mulder fighting for the big picture to him being a sad shell of himself in his hoarder office, telling Scully they weren't meant to be together is... jarring to say the least, and nonsensical. 😔

summary: you havent left oikawas mind ever since he met you at the ball that night. he knew nothing about you which only made his curiosity grow more. what will it take to meet you again? luckily, his prayers would soon be answered.

today oikawa was set to go on a date with lady kiyoko. it had been a couple weeks since the ball and though he has gone to more event since then, he hadnt seen you at any of them. he wondered who you were and what family you came from. where could you have gone?

he got out of his carriage to meet with miss kiyoko. people always praised kiyokos beauty and how she had a mysterious air around her, but oikawa didnt feel the least bit interested in her romantically. maybe romance was just out of the question for him at this point. his parents were starting to become antsy, wanting him to get married by the end of the season.

he began to be lost in thought until someone tapped him on the shoulder. he turned around to see the woman he was there to meet along with the person who was accompanying her. the person he couldnt stop thinking about had suddenly appeared back in front of him. you avoided his eyes as to not be rude since you were a servant but your eyes couldnt help but look up at him for a second.

“i hope you dont mind, i brought one of my maids with me as a chaperone for us.” kiyoko motioned towards you and you gave a small curtsy, “hello my lord. i hope you dont mind my presence here today.” you looked up at him and he was already staring back at you.

you…you were a maid? he knew you looked plain at the ball but he thought that you just maybe didnt like to dress up. he eventually snapped out of his thoughts and looked at kiyoko and smiled, “i dont mind at all. please, follow me” he held out his arm for her to grab to lead her around the park they had decided to meet at. you followed close behind trying not to listen in on their conversations and to mind your own business but your eyes kept wandering towards the lord you had met a couple weeks ago.

no doubt he was handsome and you had heard rumors about how charming he was but you had also heard that he didnt seem to want to settle for anyone. some say its because he believes no one is good enough for him, other say hes secretly in love with a woman from another country. you werent sure about those rumors though, especially after meeting him that night. the far off look in his eyes made you wonder more about him and what he truly wanted because you felt that it was more than what he could have.

“so lord oikawa, what made you decide to get married this season?” oikawa sighed a bit before he replied to kiyoko, “well mostly out of obligation to my parents but i also felt that it was time for me to settle down.” he smiled at her with the smile that made all the ladies swoon. he was a top bachelor, especially with his earl status, and his looks didnt hurt either. kiyoko nodded her head at his explanation, though not entirely believing him.

throughout the entire date oikawa’s eyes kept shooting back to you to see what you were doing. luckily for him you werent staring back at him in those moments, he thinks he would have died of embarrassment if you ever locked eyes.

oikawas wandering eyes didnt escape kiyokos. her eyes were sharp and noticed how oikawa kept looking at you. kiyoko knew you had met someone on the night of the ball, she just didnt know who. despite you being her maid, you both were still fairly close since you had been her attending ever since you were both young. she gladly listened when you talked about how you met someone on the balcony and how he had listened to your stories about the stars, something you had always been able to go on forever about.

“actually, i think i dropped something back there. i am going to go get it.” you tried to stop her as she turned to go, “my lady, i can go retrieve it. what did you drop?” it would be inappropriate if you let your lady go do your job. “no thats okay. itll just be a moment.” she walked off leaving you and oikawa alone.

“so…youre a maid?” oikawa tried to crack the silence between the two of you. you nodded your head and looked at him, “yes, i am. im sorry if i disrespected you on that night my lord for not telling you sooner.” he shook his head as soon as the words left your mouth, “no! no uh well i mean i was surprised to see you here but i dont think its a bad thing.” a smile broke out on your face that made his heart skip a beat, “good! im happy that we can be friends!” oikawa could feel his face getting hot at your enthusiasm. you shined so brightly that he had to look away.

“so, have you looked anymore at the stars?” oikawa tried to bring up something he knew you were interested in and when he looked back at you after asking that question, he knew he had asked the right one. “yes! lady kiyoko is so kind, she recently gifted me a telescope to look at the stars with! you can see them so much clearer! just the other day i saw the twins in the sky!” oikawa smiled as you went on and on about your interests.

“oh! what have you been up to since the ball? besides going on dates and whatnot?” he thought about it for a moment, what had he been doing? hed settled some of his familys finances, visited his sister and her husband, gone on enough dates to last him a lifetime…there really wasnt much else. he was a tad embarrassed that he couldnt bring much to the conversation and cleared his throat, “well i am looking for a wife so thats all ive been doing as of late. im a very busy man you know, i dont have time to play around.” you nodded you head, “well, whats something you wish you could do?”

this question shocked him. something he wished he could do? hed never had the opportunity to even think about it. his parents had guided his life from the moment he was born, there was very little time for him to do anything he ever wanted.

before he could even try to come up with a reply kiyoko came back, “well my lord it seems it is time for us to go. i had a good time, perhaps we could do this again?” oikawa nodded his head and bowed a bit, “it would be my pleasure.”

the two of you left and though oikawa had been there with kiyoko, it was you that captivated his mind. ‘whats something you wish you could do?’ you seemed to always leave him with something to think about and he couldnt help but smile at it. he hoped that his next date with kiyoko would be soon if only to catch a glimpse of you once again.

or NHLWAM if you want to see the finns in a more relaxed environment and i really liked it if not to see their dynamic with each other in the newly weds game they made them play lol (sasha, lundy; luosty mikksy) (but its only in finnish so you can only get a machine translation through the yt webplayer so take it with a grain of salt) (though users on here have been kind enough to translate some short clips like when sasha talks about mikksy)

if you liked how the ekky interview was run that same podcast interviewed matthew back in 2020 (as a flame) and in 2023 (as a cat) as well as monty in 2023 before 2324 season started though i havent fully watched any of it yet just scrubbed through but from the soundbites i liked it enough to bookmark it for a rainy day

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

-> you know i gotta say wiwi. i have to. that character was Made For Me i swear to GOD . genuinely i cannot think about prime defenders season 2 episode 39 without feeling physically sick bc i love it so much. its the only one i havent relistened to since i heard it the first time. i KNOW its gonna make me cry again so i genuienly have not touched it even though theres things in there i need to hear again for character research. his arc is so like. narratively satisfying in a way that hits me so fucking deep to my core in an extremely personal way. and like. there were definitely some Decisions that i was REALLY ANNOYING about hating when they were brought up because im used to media with bad storytelling/creators that do not care about their characters but. looking back on it i would not change a single thing about it. i love you wiwi so much.

timmy however before getting fairies is already having too much anxiety (see what i did there) and pretty much everyone notices that but his parents because they are lumps of shit so crocker began looking for evidence of fairy yod parents on timmy which well since timmy didnt have fairies yet and from how much crocker keeps looking there is no fairies he even asked timmy himself if he had fairies and timmy look up to crocker anxiety gilled thinking he missed something and ask whats a FAIRY 💥 GOD 💥 PARENTS and crocker still keeps looking but he just finds out timmy doesnt have fairies and how miserable timmy is to the point hes crying himself to sleep so he shrug it off and just thought timmy is just miserable but not miserable enough to have fairies. until timmy just shows up to class without anxiety and everyone is worried but that was the day timmy gets his fairies and as days go on and crocker gets suspicions again and boom the fop series but ill cut after poof seasons because no.

timmy is still a rulebreaker and even after getting fairies he still have anxiety becuase anxiety doesnt go away like that

What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale? i think they're gonna learn to communicate even more, they were in really good path already. i think the writers didn't have much faith in them in that aspect but the conversation they have in s11 about going back or not to the new neighborhood made evident that they can communicate, they listen to each other and understand the reasons, each other's feelings. so yeah, i think they're gonna get even better at that and also they're not gonna wait that much to become parents. i think they eventually will find new jobs, ian will have his tomatoes and mickey will adore looking at him doing his thing every sunday morning. i really really think they finally found their peace, their home and are gonna be very very happy and disgustingly in love forever because they're also hopeless romantic and want that so bad.

listen i loved s2 as much as the next guy but some of the plotholes are just hilarious to me because they employ the fanfiction logic of “i want this scenario to happen so it will just happen” and i feel people aren´t talking about it enough, so here are some of the things that made me go “oh, no beta read huh.”:

1) first question: why the fuck did gabriel delete his memory?? seriously though, i havent seen one single post about this, but i just dont understand!? So, heaven threatens to fire gabriel and delete his memory, which, okay, bad news. and then his solution is to....delete his own memory for them, so now he doesnt remember his own name let alone the love of his life, beelzebub, who he planned to run away with?? WHY??? he left heaven immediately afterwards anyways it literally made no sense and just caused major problems for everyone involved. But i guess the answer is: we needed him to have no memory for the story to happen so that makes sense by ao3 standarts

2) on a related note, why was he naked?? he could have just speedwalked outta heaven in his suit with the matchbox in his pocket, so why strip down?? Again, no reason, but arent you glad we got to see john hamms naked butt, so lets pin that on gabriel being an sweet dumb himbo maybe

3) also, how did he find aziraphales shop while not even remembering his own name? Dont know dont care, googlemaps probably.

4) not really a plothole, but that whole Maggie and Nina getting locked in the bookshop thing was the tropiest trope they pulled this season and it didnt even work because we got nothing from that scene, not even one hearfelt deep conversation

5) this one is a bit pedantic, but how is it that a demon with magical powers has to live in his car? i guess its a character thing and we need to see him at his lowest point but he could literally just miracle himself an enormous pot of gold if he wanted to

6) why would beelzebub order an attack on the bookshop and risk gabriels life? why didnt they simply explain the situation to aziraphale & crowley? well you see we didnt want the story to be over after 1 episode and also we needed a finale of some sort.

7)  i mean the whole attack on the bookshop was just....a thing that happened i guess. kinda strange the demons (especially shax who seems to have at least 1 spare braincell) would dare to kidnap an archangel in the first place. isnt he like, insanely powerful? and they didnt even know he lost his memory, so to them he was just an archangel hanging out on earth because he wanted to. how did they think storming the bookshop and taking him prisoner would go down?

8) tbh i dont really understand why heaven wanted gabriel back so much they would threaten to destroy anyone helping him and then....they just let him just go without any problems whatsoever? feels incredibly anticlimactic and illogical to me but i suppose the season needed some kind of threat to make the romantic elements work

9) this might actually get resolved in s3 but i cant believe Upstairs wants aziraphale - an angel who spend years deceiving heaven and overall just sucked at his job because he was too busy trying to fuck a demon - they want him to be the new supreme archangel of heaven. he literally stopped the last apocalypse a couple of days ago and now he´s in charge of armageddon 2.0? that´ll for sure take some explaining!

there´s a lot more stuff, but these are the most obvious things that have been on my mind since s2 aired. i also want to reiterate that i do love many things about this season despite the writing being all over the place. and no, i dont believe that all inconsistencies will be magically explained away by s3. i think it boils down to neil gaiman saying “lets make a big budget 6 chapter fanfic so david tennant and michael sheen can kiss each other on the mouth. also not beta we die like eric the disposable demon” and i can respect that.

Today was the most lovely of them all

Ok. ok it was crazy. first of all. the weather..... ohhh my god. beautiful. sunny. lovely. there was so much driving and cool breezes and giggling with glee and cute dogs and adventures and yummy snacks.

second of all. i had 2 first period spares which would usually mean i start class at 1:00pm BUT i accepted a slot to tour a family at 8:45 so i was there for that. this was my last tour of the year and i really put my all into it (it lasted AN HOUR) and i think the family actually liked me

while i was doing my tour my friend was sitting in the library and when i stopped in she lifted up her phone which read "do you want to go to tim's after this". im never one to decline a drive anywhere or coffee when i havent had breakfast. i got an apple fritter and a black iced coffee (bliss). BUT while we were there. who did i spot. but people doing fucking geomatics (the program i didnt apply to but got accepted to at waterloo) so we took a silly photo with them. then she drove me back to school and had to go to english :(

BUT she left me with our other friend who had a spare like i did. so since it was such a lovely day we skipped/ran all the way to the beltline and to the tree we discovered a couple weeks ago. sat and listened to music :)

then it was time to help our friends with their promposals. BUT there wasn't enough room in the car for everyone we needed so i climbed in the trunk. turns out i love the trunk. like a rollercoaster ride and fun and cozy and i loved it. also one of the dates hadn't ever been seen in person and was 10x hotter than photos. so amazing.

then when we got back the rest of my friends had spares and went to get boba soo i was totally bummed because i had to go to 3rd period. but when i got to 4th there was a bubble tea waiting for me (eeeeeeeek)

then i had to stay out of the house until after 5. so my friends and i went to sushi (i didnt get any bc im SKINT) so while we were sitting around waiting for a friend to get out of her ap bio exam. this rlly cute guy walked by. and 2/4 of us found him cute... but i was totally not there for that. so blah blah she tried to work up the courage to ask him out and stuff. when she finally did he had JUST walked away. but still cute good times.

so then our ap bio friend was starving and our other friend left so we all went to chipotle so me and ap bio friend could eat (used order ahead with family uber eats... very sneaky) absolutely scrumptious and i love that area of the city

+ the friend driving always rolls the windows down and my friend on aux has sublime music taste so it was just. so much fun

on the way to chipotle the 2 friends in front got the idea to go see challengers. 1 friend had already seen it but was determined to see it 3 times... so that comes up later

here i called my friend and had the funniest fucking conversation because everyone around me could only hear one half (you just woke up... oh no the dogs... chicken sandwiches... well tampon is #1..... no you don't have school tomorrow.... yeah no its next week now.... lucky i called you... the new season is out?!)

then after chipotle we drove down to the theatre and dropped one of us off along the way. and on the way there i rolled down my window to rest my head on it and look out and the wind was just so perfect and i felt so nice and i loved the song that was playing and it was just... yeahhhhhhh

also my friend called me asking to hang out on the way there and i just felt really loved

THEN OBVIOUSLY CHALLENGERS WAS AMAZING AND WHEN SHE GOES TO SEE IT FOR A 3RD TIME IM COMING. ALSO SHE BOUGHT MY TICKET BECAUSE AGAIN TOTALLY SKINT SO YIPPEE THATS A WIN. THANKS TO ALL MOM FRIENDS OUT THERE

then we listened to inhaler on the drive back to my place for some water (specifically these are the days which felt SO fitting). my friend was shuffling her favourite songs and one i showed her came up so. almost cried there. (She's a Jar- Wilco). We had been seeing really cute dogs all day because it was finally nice out enough and we saw the ultimate fluffiest friendliest dog on the drive back.

my step mom happened to arrive at the EXACT. SAME. TIME. and creepily followed us making spooky noises just to freak us out.

after a bit everyone went home but just. ugh. the day was so perfect and wonderful im like high on it. and i had to transcribe the entire thing.
