Botanical Interest Masterlist I Main Masterlist
The sunlight through the windows warms your skin while the breeze of the small fan on the counter gives you goosebumps. Dog days of Summer slowly set in over the city and with them came a slight dip in business. No one wants a rooftop wedding when its 100 degrees out and the drinks are watered down with sweat. You didn’t mind though, it let you put in a little extra time and care to the orders you did have.
You picked up a stem of cornflower and nestled it between snapdragons and lisianthus. It was so dreamy you couldn’t help but sigh, you almost wished it was for yourself. It was for an elopement, an eager young couple came in this morning all smiles asking if you could take the last minute order. Feeling a little sappy from your own relationship you couldn’t turn them down.
You started in on the boutonniere when the music you had on was paused. Curious, you looked at your phone to find you had an incoming call. You balanced the phone in between your shoulder and ear as you gathered supplies.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Doll. How are you?” Steve’s warm voice greeted you.
You smiled into the receiver. “I’m good, just working on the last order of the day. What are you up to?”
“Well actually that’s what I called to ask you. You free tonight?”
“You can meet me at the shop in an hour. Sound good?” You promised.
“Sounds like a plan. I love you, doll, I’ll see you soon.”
After returning his affections you hung up and set to work, excited to be finished and see Steve. Despite his involvement with the mob, which neither of you had really addressed head-on yet, things were going really well. Even though he was involved with murky dealings he was sweet to you and you were in love with him. You tried to plan your night with Steve in your head as you worked.
____
The ringing of a bell roused you from your work, expecting to see the young couple here to pick up their flowers. You were instead face to face with Steve’s handsome smirk and playful eyes. Your smile grew wider as he approached the counter. You held the boutonniere up to the lapel of his jacket and eyed it from a distance.
“Do I have a hot date I didn’t know about?” He joked.
“No!” You giggled, “The flowers are for a couple that came in the shop this morning, they’re going to elope and the groom’s got your complexion, thought I’d see how this looks on you before I finish”
“Oh? And how do I look as a groom?” He questioned.
Your cheeks heated instantly and you felt shy. You managed to squeak out that he looked nice before you had to turn away to box up the flowers. You couldn’t help the stupid smile on your face. You and Steve never talked about marriage before but things were getting serious between you. Maybe he just felt extra cheeky today.
“I like the blue, very colorful”
“They’re cornflowers, they’re a good luck charm! I figured they were fitting for their little wedding. So what did you have in mind for tonight? It’s too hot to sit on the patio but I’ve got a pint of ice cream with our names on it in the freezer at home” You raised your eyebrows in offer.
“Well actually, I was hoping you could be my good luck charm tonight. Bucky’s got a few of us getting together tonight for poker and you’ve yet to meet my friends. What do you say?”
Oh. You weren’t sure what to say. You hadn’t met his friends yet because you were uncomfortable with his mob work and you knew they were involved. But you also knew they were his friends and they were important to him. It’s not like you could avoid them forever. Poker with a mob boss? Sure why not?
You put on a slightly uneasy smile and nodded.
“Well I have to tell you, I haven’t played in forever but I would love to meet your friends” You told him.
“I promise, no shop talk. But I’ve been telling them about you. Buck’s wife Natasha has been dying to meet you. I also promise not to make you play poker.” He said with an easy grin.
“Alright, I just have to wait on this couple to pick up their flowers and close up. Shouldn’t be more than 20 minutes. You can wait here if you want but I’ve got no A/C”
Steve nodded and took off his jacket. He rolled up his sleeves and loosened his tie.
“For you? I’ll sweat it out.” He said.
____
After a quick pit stop at your place to change you were on your way. You smiled in the passenger’s seat, still reeling from the look on the young bride’s face when she saw her bouquet. That was undoubtedly the best part of your job, seeing the joy on your customer’s faces when they saw their arrangements. Maybe this feeling could carry you through the night.
The tires of Steve’s Audi crunched under the gravel of the long driveway up to Bucky’s estate. Steve told you he had a townhouse in Brooklyn but for the most part they stayed at their estate outside of the city. You looked up at the facade of the house and admired the ivy that clung to the bricks.
Parking the car Steve got out and quickly made his way to your side to let you out. Just one of the many old-fashioned quirks that he had. You accepted his hand as he helped you out of the car and leaned up to kiss his cheek. His hand traveled down to rub your back reassuringly. You looked up at him.
“Don’t worry, they’ll love you. Natasha can be intense but she means well. Just be yourself and they’ll love you just as much as I do.” He kissed your hair to soothe you and lead you towards the door.
Steve nodded at the man at the door. “Scott. Nice to see you, this is my girlfriend”
You smiled and gave him your name. “It’s nice to meet you, Scott”.
He smiled and greeted you in kind, lifting his hand to shake yours. When he did his jacket rode up and you could see the holster and butt of his gun. You ignored it and shook his hand.
Scott opened the door for you and you entered the house. Mansion, might be a better word honestly. Marble floors, oak woodwork, all the look of any house you’d find in the area and all in line with how you’d think a rich mob boss might live. The foyer was empty but you could hear voices in the distance.
Steve waltzed through the halls like he lived here, when he was at work he probably practically did. The space was teeming with energy as they bantered on with trash talk and promises of beating one another. Men sat at a round table drinking, waiting to deal cards and women standing around sipping on wine.
One man looked familiar from the pictures you’d seen around Steve’s place. His sharp jaw and long dark hair drew your attention instantly; Bucky Barnes, King of Brooklyn. His brows were pinched together in a scowl but he had a playful grin on his face. You steeled yourself the best you could and prepared for your introduction. Just think of him as Steve’s childhood best friend.
“Steve! ‘Bout time you showed up you bastard!” an accented voice belonging to a tall blond man with long hair called. He clapped a hand on Steve’s shoulder. “And are you the enchantress that our dear friend goes on and on about? Now that I’m meeting you I can see why!”
Steve let out an embarrassed laugh and motioned towards his friend. “This is Thor, don’t let the muscle fool you, he’s a total teddy bear”
You gave him your name and extended your hand when he brought you in for a bone-crushing hug. You let out a laugh and hugged him back, grateful for something to ease the tension you felt.
“How’s that for a warm welcome, huh?” A voice sounded from behind you.
Thor released you from your hug and you took a desperately needed breath. He patted you on the shoulder.
“Wanted to make our dear Steven’s girl feel at home, that’s all” Thor explained. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to beating your boyfriend at poker.” You laughed at that and turned to face the man who spoke earlier.
That man was none other than Bucky, who reached out for your hand. You gave it to him and he instead lifted it to give a gentle kiss.
“I can’t believe I’m meeting the one and only. Stevie here won’t shut up about you sometimes. I’m Bucky but I’m sure you already knew that.”
“I’ve heard about you too, it’s nice to finally meet.” You nodded as you took your hand back.
“I’m afraid I need to steal your man, we’ve been waiting on him to start the game but tell you what, why don’t you go find my wife Natasha, I know she’s been dying to meet you.”
Great, not at all intimidating. Okay fine just smile and breathe. Maybe get a drink. You smiled at Bucky. “The redhead, right?” He nodded and sent you on your way. One last look at Steve you shot him a worried look but he only winked at you.
You looked around the room and shrunk in on yourself a bit. You were never the best with social outings or being in new environments. You looked around again and found the very redhead you had been in search of smirking at you from the corner. She was dressed in a sleek black dress and looked effortlessly beautiful but also like she could strangle a man with her bare hands. You steeled yourself with a smile you’re sure she saw straight through.
“So you’re the one responsible for the flowers at my wedding?” You nodded Pleasesayyoulikedthempleasesayyoulikedthem “I loved them! The wedding planner recommended you and I’m so glad she did. It’s so hard to find a good color pallet but you nailed it. Come on, you need a drink then I’ll introduce you to the girls”
She ushered you towards the kitchen where she took the waiting wine glass from the counter and handed it to you. You didn’t like red but you’d drink it anyways. You brought the glass to your lips and took a sip.
You two talked for a bit in the kitchen, maybe she wasn’t as scary as she seemed. You tipped the stem of your glass until there was nothing left. Before you could ask for different wine she was topping you off from the same bottle. Another round of apprehensive sips and hidden grimaces but you thanked her regardless. It was now your goal to find the sociable sweet spot of drunkenness. You could feel blood rushing to your cheeks from the alcohol as tipsiness settled in.
Natasha raised an eyebrow and considered you for a moment.
“So how are you handling the whole organized crime thing? Gotta say, I didn’t peg you as his type but you guys are cute.”
You stopped yourself from spitting the wine in your mouth back into the glass.
“Um, thanks, I guess” You sputtered, “we uh, try to keep things separate. Figure it’s best for both of us.”
Natasha nodded, taking another drink herself.
“That’s probably best but I mean, how long can you keep that up, really?” She asked
You hated to admit it but she had a point. It’s not like the thought hadn’t crossed your mind. You opened your mouth to answer her when a man walked into the room and called your name. You looked expectantly (and slightly gratefully) towards him.
“I believe your man has requested your presence at the table. Somethin’ about needing a cornflower? I don’t know he said you’d get it. What are you two gossipin’ about in here anyways?” He questioned.
Natasha spoke before you could “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about that, Sam. We’re right behind you.” Sam nodded and retreated back to the doorway to wait for you.
Natasha touched your shoulder and you looked to her.
“Look, I didn’t mean to come off so brash, I guess I’m just trying to say, I know that being involved in this life isn’t easy. We’ll swap numbers later. Maybe we’ll go to lunch” She winked at you. You couldn’t tell if she was being serious or not but you nodded anyways.
“I-Thank you, I think I’d like that. I’d better go find Steve though” you excused yourself and made your way back to the table.
____
Steve Rogers was having a good night. He finally got to introduce his friends to his girl, she seemed to be relaxing a bit and having a better time, and he was well on his way to getting a straight flush this hand. The only thing that would seal the deal is his good luck charm by his side.
Steve called to Sam across the room and as soon as Sam walked over and bent Steve spoke.
“Sam, could you do me a solid and find my girl? Think she went to get a drink with Nat. Tell her I need cornflowers”
“Man if this is some weird sex thing I’m gonna be mad” Sam said with a mixture of confusion and disgust.
“Oh, please. Nothin’ like that, promise. She’ll know what it means.” Steve pat his friend on the shoulder and paid attention as Thor dealt cards.
A minute later his girl was walking through the door with an uneasy smile on her face. Something is wrong but he can’t gauge how serious it is. Sam says something to make her laugh and he settles on asking her later. Natasha saunters out behind them looking almost amused but cautious. Like she was regretting something. She’d probably just tried to give his girl the third degree when Sam interrupted them. It’s for the best, that’s too much for one night.
His girl smiles as she approaches him, looking slightly more at ease when she takes another sip of her wine. Her smile was a little looser and she moved a bit more freely, definitely tipsy and completely adorable with that grin on her lips.
“How are things going over here for you boys?”
Gauging how tipsy she was, he patted his knee in offering and she took it with a shy smile. Only slightly. But enough not to worry so much.
“Well, sweetheart, I’m about to kick all their asses and I figured I could use a good luck charm to seal the deal.” He boasted.
“Oh,” she said in realization, “Then I’m all yours”. She settled into his lap and watched on.
Her face was nothing short of endearing as she tried to concentrate and take in the game. He remembered she said she hadn’t been good at poker but it was sweet she was trying to pay attention anyways and be there for him.
“What’s the pot?” She asked.
“Nothin’ serious, there’s a pretty nice box of cigars and a weekend at Buck’s place in the Hamptons in the mix but we don’t do cash at get togethers like this, that’s for boy’s nights only.” He explained as he rubbed her back with his free hand. “Tonight’s just about fun”
She nodded as she studied the table some more before resigning to laying her head against his and listening to whatever bullshit Clint was on about. Steve was focused on getting others at the table to fold, he knew he had a good hand and a good chance of winning, he just needed the others to back down to bring it home.
Thor placed the final community card face up and Steve set out a low whistle. Others at the table looked a little miffed but he just knew he was taking it all. He set down his cards to a chorus of groans as he raked all the chips towards himself. You placed a kiss to his temple and he returned one to your cheek.
“Just the good luck I needed” he said loud enough for the table to hear.
“Hey Steve you gotta come see this!”
Steve tsked in annoyance. “Can it wait? I’m up and we were gonna keep playing. I’ll be there after”
“No, you should go. Let her play a hand for you, we can get to know each other better” Bucky suggested.
“Oh, I don’t think you want me playing poker.” She laughed but nervousness was the only emotion he could see on your face. He opened his mouth to protest but was cut off.
“She’ll be fine, we’ll go easy on her, I mean it. If it makes you feel better we’ll even hold the pot. This round is just for shits.” Bucky insisted.
Caught between wanting to ask how you felt about it and not wanting to get flak about being so sensitive Steve tilted his head in silent asking at you.
You gave him the same unsure smile you’d had all night and nodded up at him. “I’ll be fine, Stevie, promise.”
He gave her a reassuring smile and then turned his eye to Bucky who was all smiles. He knew exactly what Bucky was trying to do. Buck knows she doesn’t know anything but he’s gonna turn the screws on her just like he does with anyone new at the table. Steve gave him a stern expression in warning. Don’t scare her off.
____
You could hear your heart beating in your ears as you tried to decide what to do. Take it slow. You told yourself. You looked up to find all the eyes at the table on you and did your best to calm yourself.
“So who’s dealing?” A man you hadn’t previously met swiped the cards and began shuffling.
“Look, I know we said we’d put the pot on hold but Laura’s been bugging me about a vacation and I don’t know that I can pass up this opportunity to steal from Steve so easily, so” The man you’d come to know as Clint trailed off. You did your best not to be offended.
“Shut up, Barton. I promised Steve, we just wanna have a little fun, don’t we?” Bucky asked.
Is he asking me?
You decided to take a sip of your wine instead and he chuckled.
“So,” Bucky turned to you, “I know that you know about what we do, there’s no point in denying it. The question is are you going to be a problem for us or do you know how to keep things to yourself?”
Frozen in fear you could only manage to look at the rest of the table, hoping to find that this was all a joke. Instead, every face looking to you was stony and waiting on an answer. God, this man was made for Natasha, that much is clear. Your eyes darted around the room looking for an out. Where is Steve? Where the fuck is Steve?
You don’t find him, but you do find Natasha looking at you, she smiles and looks to her husband before she shakes her head. She makes her way over to her husband and lightly smacks him in the back of the head.
The look of surprise on his face ruins his silent and aggressive front as he winces in pain. He looks in slight annoyance at his wife as she tsks at him.
“Will you stop already? She’s a smart girl and you don’t need to go scaring her off. In fact, I hope she beats you. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did.” Natasha sounded so confident. You warmed to the fact that she was in your corner when you were practically a stranger in her home.
“Aw c’mon, Babe, I was only messin’ with her.” Bucky turned to Nat and she just challenged him with a smile.
You didn’t know why Natasha has suddenly become so supportive, maybe she felt bad about earlier but you were grateful to her. She pulled up a chair between the two of you to watch and motioned to the dealer to continue. You finished your second glass and prepared yourself for the night ahead. Any chance they had of you going easy on them went out the window.
____
You lost the first hand graciously, saying you hadn’t played poker since you were in college as an excuse for your loss. But when Steve was still busy and Bucky offered another round you accepted. You decided to put your full effort in this time.
Twenty minutes later everyone at the table was feeling confident in their hands, staring at each other like some sort of Mexican standoff, willing the others to fold. You could tell by the way Clint kept scratching the cut on his chin that he was screwed and he knew it. Thor couldn’t go more than 5 seconds without nervous laughing.
But Bucky? He was a tough read but about half way through the round his leg started bouncing. You knew this because he was bumping into Natasha, who’s wine was sloshing around in the glass despite her stillness. These clods didn’t stand a chance.
The dealer, Vision, you’d learned, called for everyone to show their cards. Here goes. One by one everyone set their cards down until finally it was your turn. You set them down but focused on your opponents faces. Everyone looked confused, shocked even. You had laid down a royal flush and handily smoked them all.
“Holy shit”
“Holy shit indeed”
“Told you so” Nat teased.
You smiled at all of them and drank from your newly topped off glass of wine - white this time. A warm pair of hands rested on your shoulders and you looked up to find Steve smiling down at you.
“What’s going on over here, gentlemen?”
“Well, Steve, I think your girl is hustlin’ us. Thought you said you hadn’t played since college?” Bucky turned to you. You couldn’t gauge how angry he was but you decided to be honest.
“I haven’t,” you began, “But when I did I was pretty damn good. You just assumed I didn’t know what I was doing.” You shrugged.
The room was tense, it felt like everyone was looking to Bucky to see what to do next. He broke out into a wide smile and a low chuckle turned into hearty laugh. Everyone visibly relaxed.
“I gotta say, Steve. She isn’t what I expected, but she’s sure somethin’”
“A girl after my own heart” Natasha added.
Steve bent down to kiss your head. You stood from the table and offered him your seat. Nat put a hand on your shoulder.
“Steve I’m going to steal her again, the girls will probably want to hear all about your little cardshark.”
____
He had to admit, he was completely blown away by your little stunt at the table. He thought back to earlier when you watched him play. You weren’t trying to desperately understand the game, you were studying your opponents. He couldn’t deny it was kinda hot. You were full of surprises.
He smiled thinking that you were no different than the day you met, timid but aggressive when you need to be. That’s my girl.
The rest of the night came and went without incident, Steve didn’t end up taking home the pot but he did have a conversation with Bucky.
“She and I don’t talk about work. She knows that what we do isn’t exactly reputable but let’s face it, anyone in Brooklyn would. She doesn’t know and she doesn’t want to.”
Bucky took a long drag from his glass of bourbon and nodded.
“But if she ever did I hope she’s smart enough to know she has to keep what she knows to herself. We can’t afford any slip ups.”
Steve’s fists clenched and he controlled his anger enough not to snap at Bucky. He was his best friend but Bucky was still the boss and Steve knew how much was at stake.
“Not that it’s any of my business but you love this girl, right?” Steve swallowed thickly and nodded.
“Then how the hell are you gonna manage that? Keepin’ your two worlds separate? I mean, you just gonna walk her down the aisle and live happily forever keeping half your life from her? I need to know that if push came to shove she wouldn’t sell us out. Things are fine for now but you know that you’re either in or you’re out. I care about you, Steve, you’re my best friend but you need to see straight.”
Steve looked away, his jaw clenched as he ground his teeth. He knew Bucky was right. He loved you but he owed his life to Bucky, he was his brother. But he loved you. They were careful in their work and he knew any feds that tried to come after them wouldn’t find a thing. He could put this issue into a box and seal the lid tightly, at least for a while.
“I know you’re right. I love her and she’s a good woman. She wouldn’t say anything because she doesn’t know anything. And she never will.”
He left Bucky to stand on his own in search of you. He found you laughing with Laura, Wanda and Nat. He smiled at how welcomed you seemed to feel despite the rocky start.
“You ready to go, doll?”
You turned around and smiled at him. You looked back at the girls and then reluctantly back to him but nodded.
“Guess we’d better go, I’ve got to get down to the flower market at open tomorrow morning”
____
After a very long round of goodbyes you swapped numbers with Nat with promises of future lunch plans. The night had turned out worlds better than you thought that it would. You served a bunch of men their own egos on a silver platter and didn’t get murdered for it and you even made friends.
Still though Nat’s words echoed in your mind ‘how long can you keep that up, really?’ Little did you know but the same thoughts troubled Steve. You knew eventually you would have to make a choice if you ever wanted to get more serious than you were with each other, you just didn’t know what choice you’d make.
The ride home was quiet but not tense. He held your hand a little tighter than usual but you thought maybe he was just excited you had gotten on so well with your friends. He pulled up to your building and put the car in park.
“So do you think they liked me? I mean, other than hustling them at poker I’d say I made a pretty good impression”
Steve chuckled, “Yeah, doll. Gotta say, the whole cardshark thing? Kinda hot, didn’t know you had that in you, you little fiend.”
You rolled your eyes playfully and grinned at him. “I wasn’t gonna but Clint started talking shit.”
“Then he deserved his ass kicked” Steve joked. “I’d come up but I know you’ve got an early morning. Thank you for coming and meeting everyone tonight, I know that you want to keep things separate but these people are family to me, it means a lot that you met them”
You nodded and smiled. You told yourself you didn’t need to make the choice between getting involved with his work and keeping it apart from the other aspects of your life but it seems that by meeting them you had already made one.
Maybe you could talk more to Nat about this, she’d know what your situation is like more than anyone. For now though you decided to focus on the present reality, you had a good night and you had fun and now you’re about to kiss the man you love.
“Of course” you whispered. You kissed him slowly, trying to put off the sleepless night you were surely about to have.
“Goodnight, sweetheart. I’ll call you tomorrow. I love you”
“I love you too, Stevie”

Chapter 2 of the Remus and Nymphadora story:
When their first students graduate, they throw a secret party in the shack for their favorites. Drinks and cakes are awesome, music is the best but what makes it special is that those kids will be the first ones to start their own lives after the war. Those kids saw the pain, saw the healing process; heard the stories and cried for people they never met but now they will be Aurors who will be a part of the revolution, they will be professional Quidditch players and send them autographs; hell, some of them will be professors teaching with them. Those kids were born to a war but they also saw a victory, those kids saw the light and they will never let darkness win. Those kids saw their teachers struggling to heal and now they are in a party with colorful hairs just to make Tonks proud, and now there are birds, bears, rabbits made from light, from happiness; flying around just to make Remus proud.
Even after they graduate, even after years; they keep sending Lupins letter, every month. They send them tickets to their matches, they send them invitations to their wedding; they send them letters talking about their first borns and letters about the dramas in their jobs. They send them colorful chalks and chocolate boxes.
And later they will send their kids to their classes. Bunch of eleven years old will put the sorting hat on while Remus and Tonks think how much they remind them of their parents.
Time passes by, time always passes by quickly when you are doing the thing you love. Kids, they grow up so fast; especially the ones whose face looks like a duck sometimes. Time passes by and Teddy Lupin attends Hogwarts. Tonks places her bet on Hufflepuff, Remus places his bet on Gryffindor and they are both wrong. How did they look at this kid who once read an encyclopedia about shells in two days, and thought he was anything but a Ravenclaw?
In his first DADA lesson, he sleeps. "But dad, you can teach me this at home?" In his first Transfiguration lesson, he keeps changing his face and distracts everyone. "But mom, I am a metamorphmagus!" In his first herbology lesson, he looks at the greenhouse and thinks "yep, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.".
-Proffesor Longbottom, can you teach me more about the pancratium maritimum?
In his first week he sets a book to fire. "I swear I didn't do anything, Madam Mcgonagall; it is my wand, it likes to create fire."
And in his first year, Ravenclaw comes last.
Time passes by quickly, especially when your kid is the trouble maker. Time passes by and Teds' second year in Hogwarts begins.
After his first DADA lesson, he walks into his father's office. "Dad, you are a great teacher but I am not interested in any of this." After his first Transfiguration lesson, he walks into his mother's office. "Mom, turning paper into a bird is impressive but not what I want to do.". After his first Herbology lesson, he walks into Neville's office. "Sir, can I spend my free time in the greenhouse?".
After his first week, he fills the Ravenclaw common room with flowerpots. "Flitwick sir, those are good for students' mental health."
After his second year in Hogwarts, he studies plants all summer long.
Time passes slowly, especially when your kid always talks about plants. Times passes slowly but it passes and Teds' third year in Hogwarts begins.
During the sorting ceremony, he sees a blonde girl who looks like an angel and this weird feeling fills his heart. During the sorting ceremony, the angel walks to the Ravenclaw table.
During his first DADA lesson, they study boggarts and his turns into the angel with tears. During his first DADA lesson, they learn the riddikullus charm and it turns his boggarts into him kissing the angel; because it is impossible, because him next to the perfection is funny.
During his first Transfiguration lesson, he tries to draw; he tries to draw for the first time in his life. He tries to draw the prettiest face he has ever seen.
During his first Herbology lesson; he forgets about the girl, he forgets about the girl for the first time this year. He forgets about the girl because he is around the most powerful magic, he is around nature.
During his first week; he gets the chance to meet the girl, in common room. "Victoire Weasley", the name he will never forget for the rest of his life. "Victoire Weasley", the second person who waters the pots.
During his third year in Hogwarts, he understands what the weird feeling mean. During his third year in Hogwarts, he falls in love.
Time passes by slowly, especially when your kid is in love, when your kid is in love just like James once was, when your kid is in love just like his mother is. Time passes slowly but it passes and Teds' fourth in Hogwarts begins.
Before his first DADA lesson; he sits by the lake with the girl she loves and learns her favorite color: yellow.
Before his first Transfiguration lesson; he draws, again. He draws sunflowers to give to the girl whose smile warms his heart.
Before his first Herbology lesson, he reads; at least he tries to read but it is almost impossible when Victorie is sitting next to him.
Before his first week in fourth year ends, Victorie hugs him, Victorie hugs him because he helped her find the right book.
And before his fourth year in Hogwarts ends, the angel becomes his angel; the angel becomes the one who he goes when he is sad because she always sings to him.

Of love and dreams to share"
You hummed underneath your breath as you worked around the medbay, placing away the latest shipment is supplies into cabinets and drawers. It was December and Chris's playlist sang softly in the background.
After some persuasion and endless amounts of Christmas songs, you had converted one of your boyfriends and now Chris to listen to Mariah Carey. Even after two centuries, the artist had made her lasting impression continue. Although slightly outdated, the Christmas cheer still happened.
Just what the Doctor needed.
Not really. Leonard had enough of Christmas songs playing through his medbay, and listening to you humming the damn songs even in the shared quarters.
"Careful," Christine warned you as you returned from a short break. "Someone's in a grouchy mood. He's already threatened to turn off the overhead PA system."
You laughed and grinned. "Nothing a little bourbon can't fix. Change it over to my playlist."
Pulling out the bottom cabinet, you grabbed your bottle of alcohol out. Once the other nurses could handle everything else, you knocked on the door and let yourself in.
"What Chapel? I said I didn't want to be bothered right now. If I hear one more Mariah Carey song I will. riot," Came a very irritated sounding boyfriend as he worked on looking over chartings.
"Well I'm not Chris," You raised an eyebrow at him as his tone. "And if you don't want company, I'll gladly sit with Jim instead with the bourbon."
That got his attention.
"Sweetheart, I-."
"Bones! Doll, is that bottle for me?" Jim butted in, carrying a box and indicating a spot for another. "Right there, Ensign."
"What the hell is that?" Leonard scowled at Jim.
"Not even a hello or a kiss my way?" The Captain feigned hurt, but plopped himself onto the couch without another word.
"It's full of cards," You peered into one.
"These are holiday cards, thank you cards," He picked one up for himself. "Written during Federation Day and some from a few weeks ago. Starfleet thought it was a good idea for some cheering up. There's one box for every department. A few sent in care packages."
"Look at this one."
To Doctor McCoy,
Thank you for finding the cure. Now my sister's ready to go home this weekend. I can't thank you enough. Thank you for all you've done.
Leonard snorted, but looked interested into the box for himself. "We're not military."
"Len. It used to be an old tradition for those during December to write holiday cards to those serving overseas," You popped the cork off, and poured the alcohol into three glasses. "No shore leave during Christmas this year, but this makes up for it."
"Y/N tells it how it is," Jim shared a quick kiss with you, now placing his feet on the couch arms.
"There's a teddy bear with this one," You rummaged around the near mountain stack of cards, and pulled out a stuffed animal.
To Captain Kirk,
I hope to be like you one day. You are my hero.
Putting aside his work and giving up at making headway, Leonard joined in with you, making a half circle around the box. Most were the usual thank you one's or simply happy holidays. Yet, you thanked the Federation for each one. No shore leave during December was hard enough.
Everyone sacrificed a part of themselves for such an extended stay on the USS Enterprise. Sulu had a picture of Demora on his screens, and tried as he might, even the Doctor himself found himself staring fondly at Joanna's photo on his desk.
"They're so nice," You mumbled, reading through each one. "'Miss home already."
Jim nodded along.
Leonard didn't answer immediately, slowly setting down a rubber ducky that someone else sent along with the card. "Jojo wrote one. We used to have a thing together, buy a new rubber duck wherever I went. She sent me this."
It was a rubber duck decked with a Santa hat.
"I'm sorry, Bones. I tried. We're just too far from Earth."
"I know you did, kid. It'll just be my first year not seeing my baby girl in person."
You and Jim leaned on the brunette. "We'll set up a call with her tonight. I swear it. I'm sure she'll be happy to see you holding that present."
"I guess."
"Thank you for bringing this up, Jim." You glanced over at him after a moment, letting Leonard recollect himself.
"Captain," Sulu's voice wavered from the comm. "There's an incoming transmission from Headquarters."
"Send it." Jim gave you a knowing look and you grinned back.
"Yes sir."
You rubbed Leonard's back in comfort, sympathizing with him. He was a father, yet so far away from the one he loved.
"Uncle Jim! Uncle Jim! Is daddy there?" Came a familiar voice.
"Hi baby. I'm here," Leonard croaked, swiping the comm away immediately.
"Daddy! Did you get my present and my card? How is Uncle Jim? How is Y/N?" Joanna eagerly spoke.
"Hey Jojo. We're doing great up here."
"I got it, kiddo. I love it. Did grandma buy it for you?"
"She did! Want to hear something, daddy? Y/N taught me how to a few days ago."
"Sing it for us, Jojo," You piped up.
"Okay!" There was some rustling on the other side before music started playing.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
While laughing and wiping away his tears, Leonard turned to you with a smile and a shake of his head. "I love you. Thank you for this."
"We'll hang some of these up for you. Sure Chris and the other medical staff would appreciate these."

Take A Chance Epilogue
Simon Dominic (AOMG) x Y/N (Reader) Genre: Romance / Angst Count: I didn’t count lol sorry Warnings: None Rating: Mature (suggestive, swearing) Summary: Who would’ve thought a one night stand with Simon D would turn into FWB? It only gets more complicated when you developed feelings, against your better judgement.
Sorry guys, I really thought I posted this for some reason ^-^” Anyway, I hope you like it!!!
Chapter One. | Chapter Two. | Chapter Three. | Chapter Four. | Chapter Five. | Chapter Six. | Chapter Seven. | Chapter Eight (Finale). | Epilogue
“You’ll be fine, baby, if anything I can translate.” You gripped Kiseok’s hand tighter in your own as you navigated the rental car up the hill of the residential area.
Tall, large houses looked over you, shadows casting long capes in front of them. Cookie was happily coloring on her Frozen coloring book strapped up in the back seat.
“I’m just nervous,” the rapper sighed, trying to calm the anxious bounce of his leg.
You squeezed his hand once more. Today would be the first time Kiseok would meet your family, and although you wanted to do this with your immediate family first then slowly introduce the cousins and aunties and uncles, Kiseok insisted he come along to the annual family reunion. The only family member he had properly met was your mother and that was because she had come to South Korea to visit you a few months back.
You had warned him that your family was big and it’s okay to not remember everyone’s names. Especially your siblings. You groaned to yourself when you thought about how they’ll react. They were just so embarrassing.
Pulling up to the long driveway, you reached in your purse for the gate opener before pulling into the large front yard. There were about twenty cars scatter about, all parked with no one in them.
The front of the house was as extravagant as you remebered. You felt Kiseok tense up immediately upon seeing how big the house was. Your mother lived in a gated community, up on the hills with a million dollar view of the city below. A lot of people automatically assumed your family was rich but your family had invested money so in their later years, money worked for them. Your mother also inherited quite a bit of cash a few years ago.
“Jesus,” he whispered as he helped Cookie out of the car. As soon as her pink shoes touched the pavement, she clutched her dolls and was sprinting to the front door. “You didn’t tell me you were loaded.”
Wrapping your hand in his, you smiled nervously. “My family is a bunch of investors. One of my brothers has his own business. Don’t let it intimidate you, babe. They’re nice people. I promise.”
As if to seal the deal, you leaned up to give him a peck on the lips. Kiseok sighed into you, shoulders relaxing just a touch. It seemed it was enough to placate him for the moment because you pulled him to follow Cookie, who had just opened the double doors and ran through the house.
Loud voices could be heard calling her name and greeting her when Kiseok pulled your hand. He came to a stop at the front door, tugging you gently so you stood before him.
You could see the nervousness swimming in his big brown eyes and you wanted to laugh because this was his idea! But instead you smiled. “I got you. Always.”
His lips twitched in a smile, “I just want to tell you that I love you and you’re so beautiful. I don’t know what I’d do without you in my life.”
Without waiting for you to respond, he gripped your hand tighter and you both entered.
Hours later, you were catching up with a few of your cousins when you glanced around the spacious backyard. You caught sight of Kiseok laughing with some of your uncles by the grill. While you had no worry that your family would like him, it was nice that he was comfortable around them, even with the slight language barrier they had.
Cookie was off playing with the other kids in the pool, looking like the jet lag didn’t effect her much. It had been a few years since she’d seen your family so it was great to see them all interact.
You were taken from your observation when you felt a familiar hand on your shoulder. Standing behind you, Kiseok flashed a smile at your giggling cousins.
“Babe, the guys are going on a beer run and they want me to go. Do you need anything from the store?” He asked before gesturing to your nearly empty soda in your hand. “I’ll get you another one.”
Beaming a smile at him, you nodded. “Please and thank you. Drive safe.”
With a kiss, he was off with one of your older cousins who wrapped his muscled arm around Kiseok’s broad shoulders.
“Where are they going?” Your noisy aunty asked, sipping her wine.
It took you a moment to understand that your exchange had been in Korean so there was no way they’d know what was said. “The boys are going to the store.”
“They seem to really like him, ___. I’ve never seen my husband laugh that much til today. Grumpy old man.”
Somehow that reassured you immensely and you sat a little straighter. “I’m glad they all get along but I knew everyone would love Simon. He’s just a big teddy bear even if he looks intimidating.”
Two of your cousins snuck glances to the other before rounding on you. “So,” the bolder of the two started, “Do we hear wedding bells in the future?”
With a small smile, you drank the rest of the soda. It’s been almost two years since you two had been official and you could confidently say that you’d want to spend the rest of your life with Kiseok. It was no secret either, he had brought the topic up multiple times over the last year. You two had even moved in together a few months ago. Everything was a little more chaotic than you would’ve liked since he was currently working on his new album and then after that he’d be on tour in Europe.
“Maybe in the future. We’re both so busy. But if we do, you all have to come to South Korea for the wedding.”
“Count me in! I’ve been waiting for an excuse to go!”
“Soooo,” your older cousin, who everyone refeeed to as Junior, nudged Kiseok in the shoulder. They were in the back seat of one of the SUVs, with your other cousins bickering in the front. “Aunty told me you were gonna pop the question tonight.”
Nervously, Kiseok leaned heavily into the seat. He was glad that he had Jay teach him a bit more English before he left. Otherwise he’d be at a complete loss when speaking with your family.
Before you three left South Korea, he had a secret call with your mother, informing her of his plans to propose later tonight. In his pocket, he stroked the soft black velvet box. Proposing in itself was nerve racking but doing it in front of your entire family whom he’d just met? What was he thinking...
Junior noticed his inner turmoil and patted his shoulder. “Don’t stress, man. She’s been with you for this long! She’ll say yes. If she doesn’t I’ll beat her up for you.” He joked to lighten the mood but only got a tense smile in return.
“I know she’ll say yes but I’m still...” Simon sighed again, feeling as if he’d age ten years if he kept thinking about it.
Junior gave him a sympathetic nod before changing the subject.
As the time grew near, your mother was throwing looks at Kiseok, especially when she had turned on the outside string lights, setting the backyard into an intimate setting. The backyard had really come a long way since you’d been there years ago, and you couldn’t help but appreciate the flower garden towards the back of the pool.
“Taking a break?” Sliding up to your side, Kiseok wrapped a hand around your waist before dipping and planting a kiss on your head.
You hummed, eyes closing to enjoy the buzz of many conversations behind you two and the occasional splashing and laughing of the kids. Most of the adults were hanging around the outdoor couch or bar, mixing drinks and telling stories about their lives. It had been years since you went to a family reunion and you hadn’t realized how much you missed them all. Some more than others but still.
“I’ll be right back,” Kiseok mumbled into your hair before walking towards the mini bar. He was speaking to Junior but you turned back to gaze at the night view of the city below.
Your heart felt so complete right now. It was going to be hard to top the rest of the vacation after this. Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t realize the conversations quiet down to hums or the music changed to some old school song.
It was only when you felt hands slide on your waistline that you turned to see every single one of you family members with wide smiles on their faces, some with their phones pointed at you two. Cookie had a towel wrapped around her as she made her way to your side with a bright smile.
“You know, when I saw you in the club, I didn’t think I’d be here- right now, holding the love of my life, meeting her family...” he took a nervous breath and you felt your heart beat start to race. What is he planning?
“I know I can be petty and childish some times but I’ve loved you since I first saw you. The way I feel for you is nothing like I’ve ever felt before. You’re truly the love of my life and I can’t imagine where I’d be without you or Cookie. You two have made my life so much more fulfilling. I’m so thankful you’ve decided to put up with me for so long. Thank you for taking a chance on me.” With a soft kiss, he turned his attention to your daughter, and knelt down to her level. Tears sprung in your eyes as you realized just what he was doing.
“Cookie, baby, I love you and your mom so much.” He patted the top of her curly hair but she didn’t interrupt. You didn’t notice the way his hand shook. “Thank you for letting me be in your life and accepting me even though I’m far from perfect. You’re such an intelligent, beautiful girl and I can’t wait to see you grow into an even more amazing young woman. I love you.” His voice was shaky at the end, tears pooling in his eyes.
Cookie took his hand from her head and nodded towards you. “I love you too. Go on and ask her already!”
Laughter broke out among everyone and even you two couldn’t help but chuckle at her brash nature.
Without further ado, Kiseok shifted to one knee and pulled a small black box from his pocket. Wide, chocolate eyes searched your tear-stained face for a second before, “___, will you marry me?”
You tackled him before even glancing at the ring, arms wrapped around his neck. His free hand shot out to catch you, yet you both fell to the grass anyway. Cookie laughed and jumped on your back, wrapping you two into a tight hug.
Ignoring the whooping and hollering around you, you leaned down and peppered kisses around his face, making sure to whisper your answer in between, “Yes. Yes. Yes. I love you too.”
There was no time for peace because it was a few seconds later, you three were hauled up and into multiple hugs and congratulations from your family.
Your mom wrapped her arms around you as you two watched a few of your uncles clap Kiseok on the back, laughing at his embarrassed blushing face.
She breathed in. “He’s a good man. He loves you and takes care of Cookie like she’s his own. I’m so happy for you.”
You snuggled into her for a moment. “Me too.”

Felt like doing some replies the ~ old fashioned ~ way. I should be packing, but I don’t wanna. One good thing about this semester is that I don’t have classes on Monday morning, which means I don’t have to go to Prague on Sunday. But I’ll be once again going home late on Friday -_- Oh well. Maybe I could skip the lecture every once in a while to go home on Thursday afternoon.
I’m scared. Not really of what I’ll have to learn because I know that even if it’s difficult, I’ll probably get it in my brain in the end. Somehow. I’m more scared that once again, I’ll be left alone. I haven’t really found a stable friend group. I mean, I talk to some people sometimes, but I wouldn’t call it a friendship. One friend that I thought I could rely on doesn’t even bother saying hello to me anymore. I don’t know what I did to him, he just stopped talking to me. But maybe it’s for the best. Even when we still talked, I couldn’t believe how judgemental he was, and I often wondered if he talks about me like that too when I can’t hear it. He probably did. Oh well, I’ll see what I can do. I hope I’ll run into someone who is kinda like my best friend from high school.
As for sims stuff, I know I still owe some things to some people and I feel bad about it. You’ll get it eventually. I’m actually looking forward to doing it too. Makeovers are fun. I’d also like to release some more sims, I have one more sim dump and then some old legacy characters I want to share, plus some BC contestants that didn’t make it. They like to get eliminated in the first rounds.
Also, thanks for the comments on my mental health update post. I’ll see how this turns out and if it doesn’t get any better (I’m kinda hoping that better weather brings better mood, it worked before), I’ll start looking for a therapist or something. No offense to my parents but talking to them about this didn’t help in a slightest. They just don’t get it. And I swear I’m not reverting back to the “I’m an edgy misunderstood teenager” phase. Even though “edgy misunderstood teenager” is an aesthetic I still live for. Whatever that means.
And thanks for the tips on the laptop post. I’ll keep them in mind and I’ll probably ask again when the time comes and I actually buy a new one.
Ahh...I guess that’s it? Replies under the cut. As per usual, they’ll probably be the shorter part of this post, but oh well.
abysims replied to your photoset “Let’s find Lilith Vatore some love! In my game, I’ve had Lilith in a...”
Honestly Cassandra and Lilith would be amazing (... In my Glimmerbrook Academy story Cass is actually gonna have a huge crush on Lilith so I'm voting for that, yas!)
Ooooh that sounds great! Also, I’ll have a post announcing the results of the post coming up later, either today or tomorrow, but...spoiler alert: Cassandra might have won ;)
tiny-tany-thaanos replied to your post “Simmer - Get to Know”
Lol this thing with Mermaids made me remember that when my friend and I were like 12 years old, a 6-year-old made her a "proposal" and we answered him that she'll marry him when he buys her a house by the sea in Prague
Omg sea in Prague sounds kinda cool, my faculty would be so close to the beach *-* Haha but at the same time it’s kinda terrifying, where would the sea come from? From the north? From the south? Would that mean my home doesn’t exist? Or, actually, considering my town was built on a big hill, would that mean I live on an island? And which part of Prague would be under the sea and which one would stay?
Sorry, I got distracted thinking of this AU where my country actually has access to the sea :D But we used to have it, back in like I think 12th or 13th century. We’re wayyyy smaller now.
amuhav replied to your post “Me, looking up some specs of my current laptop: you're...you're...”
If it's anything like me with my first 'gaming' laptop, the store clerk basically straight up lied to me about how good it was, and I was too young and naive to know better sims 3 almost burnt that thing to a crisp
Lmao I have a similar story with my first laptop, we were told that it has this super amazing graphic card...and it wasn’t amazing at all, as I later learned when my laptop broke.
amuhav replied to your photoset “Sims Moodboard Challenge I was tagged by @blurrypxls,...”
Oh no... don't make me want to go back to pinterest and do more of these They're ADDICTIVE
THEY ARE! I haven’t done much today, but I’ve spent a lot of time there all through this last week.
amuhav replied to your photo “I need to stop. This is more addictive than scrolling through memes....”
Pssst, not to enable or anything, but Picasa 3 has this nice feature where you can take a bunch of pics and it makes them into a nice collage. That's how I made mine, and then used them as my desktop backgrounds
I think I’ll use Photoshop, like I do for everything else, but thanks for giving me an idea for my new background! I used to have my sims or some other characters set as a background, but now that I take my laptop to school I feel a bit uncomfortable with that, so since October I’ve had this kinda boring background and I’ve been meaning to change it into something nicer, I just didn’t know what to put there. Now I do.
fataleromeo replied to your photoset “Sunset: “How dare you pretend you’re Father Winter?” Father Winter:...”
Holy crap, Sunset is a lot more buff than I ever realized. Those arms!
Yup. That’s because she has to get her Athletic skill higher for work. I think her muscle slider might be at max, actually!
fataleromeo replied to your photoset “Father Winter: “That’s it! You’re going on my Naughty List. Your...”
How could she not with with muscles like that?? Damn his Christmas magic!
Next time we should just call Caleb. I mean, he defeated Grim Reaper with no problem, surely Father Winter won’t be any more difficult for him!
fataleromeo replied to your photoset “Sunset: “Okay, cool. You won’t give us gifts but I have a special one...”
Lmaoooooo, get him, Sunset!
He deserves it
asplashofsims replied to your photo “~ daylight”
Cute picture! ♡ I hope you feel better soon and omgg winx club, it's my guilty pleasure for sure hahah all the childhood memories
I love Winx Club so much. It’s a little ridiculous and the plot holes are terrible (and don’t let me talk about anything after season 4, those are not my Winx D:), but I can’t let it go.
blubrich replied to your post “I forgot how traumatizing Toy Story 3 was ”
Especially the ending!
YES. I remember the whole cinema was crying.
Also, Toy Story always unpacks this weird guilt in me haha. Because as a child, naturally I was like “I would NEVER abandon my toys, I’ll keep them forever!”. And now...they’re in boxes...under my bed and in the basement...some of them I gave away or to my younger sister, who then also gave some away because she’s fifteen now. I still have my plushies and teddy bears in my bed though, it would be too empty without them :D

I love Within Temptation and they got me into heavier music later, too!
I don’t even remember how I found them. I was just bored of the music I was listening to all the time back then, so I clicked through playlists and stuff on Spotify and somehow I landed on their page, I guess. And I immediately fell in love.
tiny-tany-thaanos replied to your audio post “(via...”
Oh this song was the first song of this bad which I heard! It was also 5-6 years ago.though I do not listen to them often these days.
I think the first song I heard was What Have You Done, which I liked and still like very much, but then I heard this one and went kinda crazy because it just sounded so epic and exactly what my poor slightly depressed fifteen years old soul needed. In one day, I completely switched from pop to metal and it took me a few years to appreciate my old favourite music again. (I know that I say all the time that I’m a Taylor Swift stan, but actually I only really started LOVING her music again last year.)
I’ve always thought that it’s kinda funny that in my Music class, for the first semester I prepared a project about Taylor Swift. In the second semester, that changed, the old pop loving Ronnie was dead, and my new project was about Within Temptation :D But I remember that I was actually upset that day, I chose to show my classmates the video of What About Us and they didn’t appreciate it. And then after me, my other classmate had a project about some singer who had this weird song about getting high. They wanted to replay it. I was so bitter, in my head I was like “this song that I showed you has an interesting meaningful message and you’d rather listen to a song about drugs, how dare you?! You’re absolutely terrible!”
Yeah. I mean, I get it today, but I was so, so bitter.
amuhav replied to your audio post “(via...”
I recently found out they had a new album out (and Nightwish had a new single out too ) and early 2000s emo teenage me immediately surfaced and threw money at my screen!
Ahhhh I’ve basically had Noise on repeat since it came out, I love it so much! And the video is cool too. I can’t wait to hear the whole album. Nightwish never disappoints, I hope I’ll one day get to see them live. I’ve had a few chances but then it never worked out.

Nat: Cas, come on!
- I love that Sam is holding the blade to cut and not stab.
ok ok...honestly I’m enjoying this ok? in the sense that I missed seeing Castiel so strong and powerful , and this is as it should be. He’s an angel , a soldier, with eons of wars behind, he was a captain ffs, the Winchester, they can be as strong as you want but they are human. Even Zach was stronger than them, he was just stupid to fall for Sam trick.
Giu: PLEASE DON’T KILL THEM

Zee : Mary is showing emotion
Nat: I know who i would chose

Zee : Me too
Kat: I almost don’t hate her. She’s hurting so bad. But everything else would be fucked
M:” Sam I can’t”
me too Mary, me too.
Nat: that's the thing. she's hurting more about her husband than her boys
Kat: I said almost
-J:” I never meant for this”
Kat: No son
J: “My fight. It was supposed to end with me. With Yellow eyes”

D: “Why don’t send him further back , and let some other poor sons of bitches save the world?
oh...OH Dean is woke
D:” But there’s the problem. Who does that makes us? Would we be better off? Maybe. But I’ve got to be honest. I don’t know who that Dean Winchester is.”
D:”I’m good with who I am,and I’m good with who you are”
Zee : Does anybody else experiencing chest pain??
Nat: What's a chest. I can't feel anything below my mouth

Also Sam keeps throwing glances at Dean and it breaks me.
John looking at his sons is PAAAAIN.
J:” You two. You take care of each other”
S: “We always do”
Can I say that I expected some “Yes Sir” here and there and I’m so glad that there were none? Like...yes they grow up and they are their own men and I’m so damn glad. I would have hated if I heard them saying that.

Goddammit Dean still looks like he doesn’t wan’t to break but ...I can see it, your lips are shaking damn you Jensen.
Oh no here comes the hug of pain.
J:”I love you both so much”
why is Sam crying so much this season , JARED !
-oH NO DEAN SAID IT....DEAN SAID I LOVE YOU , I CAN’T , 911 HELP I CAN’T BREATHE
Nat: HEY, FUCK THIS SHIT I'M GONE
I’m so sick of seeing tears ok? And seeing John so emotional??? NAAAAAH FUCK THAT, I saw those tears falling . FUCK U

The sound looks like it hit Dean like a bullet or something and I just ....look at him it looks like he wants to scream, his lips seems like they are spelling a soundless ‘NO’ or he just let go, because he wasn’t breathing until the sound ....I need a minute, I’m gonna throw up my breakfast.

after credits brainstorm
Nat: SO GET THIS Did John remember? Did John know that the boys are happy and he spends the last of his days thinking about how he could get rid of Michael? Giu: What what . Oh fuck I sure hope so Nat: He saw that the boys were happy, that Mary came back. That's all he wanted . That's why it wasn't hard for him to let go and make the deal. Zee: I soooooo don’t need this rn Giu: im on board. Because he said that he had the strangest dream right? So since their life are fucked up anyway , what hurt could it make to look that shit up? Nat: He will remember but it's more like a vivid dream and he will do anything to fight for them so that's why it wasn't hard for him at all to save Dean, even though he can't defeat YED. Because he knows that his boys will save the world. And still live. with an angel and lucifer's child.
.

Absolutely Smitten
Dang. I really suck at keeping my word, don’t I? Whelp, for those who care, it’s here now! This is the first of I don’t know how many parts of “Six Foot Seven”, a new series/book thing I’ve been working on lately, requested by @i-cant-reach-im-too-short! The entirety of the series will be based on her real-life love story, as well as a playlist she gave me. First song was Absolutely Smitten by Dodie Clark. Hope you all enjoy! :)
“Teddy, come eat!” I call out from the kitchen, rattling his food around the large metal bowl. I wait a few minutes before yelling out his name again. “Teddy! Teddy Bear! C’mon! I have to leave soon and you need to eat.” Still no response.
And so begins my daily game of “Find the Giant Dog Hiding in my Tiny Apartment and Hope He Didn’t Run Off and Start the Zombie Apocalypse Without Me”. Such a great way to start my day…
I search behind couches and loveseats, inside closets and my bathroom only to find absolutely nothing. “Where, oh where has my Teddy gone, oh where, oh where could he be,” I sing softly under my breath, “In the closet he’s not, with me he’s… Also not, oh where, oh where could he be.” I continue with my non-rhyming song, raising my volume a little as I get closer and closer to my bedroom, the only other place he could be hiding.
When I finally reach the doorway, I hear a playful bark come out from beneath my bed. I lower myself down to my knees, pull up the flashlight on my phone, and put my right cheek against the carpet. And, sure enough, I’m staring into the eyes of my slightly-obnoxious-but-still-very-lovable German Shepard. Who also just so happens to be stuck underneath the bed I just got.
How he got there is beyond me and getting him out is going to be a serious victory on my end. As in, the kind of victory that deserves a pint and a half of double chocolate chip ice cream and a box of Cheez-Its after work. I try coaxing him out, seeing if he can squeeze himself just enough to remove himself from the tight spot. I bribe him with treats and squeaky toys, but he doesn’t move a muscle. So, I move on to what I knew was, ultimately, inevitable and would no doubt break all of my limbs off of my body.
Have you ever seen a 5’2 Asian girl trying to lift up a Queen size metal bed frame (with the mattress on top of it because she had just woken up half an hour ago and was still extremely tired, so she wasn’t smart enough to take it off) at least a foot off the ground completely and utterly by herself? I haven’t, but God damn it must be hilarious to look at. Actually doing it, though? Terrible. Absolutely horrid. The worst thing I’ve ever done in my 22 years of living. I mean, seriously. What is this thing made out of? Steel with a brick-filled mattress? Ridiculousness, I tell you!
Twenty minutes later, Teddy is roaming free around our brand new home while I’m lying on my bedroom floor exhausted and trying to find a will to live, which immediately comes with an alarm going off on my phone. Who would’ve thought I’d be so ecstatic to leave the comfort of my apartment for an entire day of work behind a desk only running on four hours of sleep. I force myself up and attempt to wipe as much dog hair off of my once clean clothes, abandoning hope soon after---there’s just no escaping it.
Collecting my things, I make my way toward the door, glancing quickly at the clock on my stove. Right on time, I think to myself. Waiting for the elevator was maddening. Come on...
I mash the button impatiently, muttering curse words under my breath in frustration. I do the same when the doors finally slide open, revealing a small family of three with a tiny puppy on a leash. The slow background music only fueled my anxiety.
Before the doors are even wide enough to accommodate an entire person, I slip through the tiny gap and race outside. I flatten my hair and my eyes immediately dart to the left, finding exactly what---or, more specifically, who---I was looking for walking toward me.
“Holy shit,” I murmur softly. How is it possible for one person to look so amazing just walking down the street? I soon realize I’m staring like a literal stalker, so before I’m caught, I turn and start walking swiftly in the same direction he’s going.
“Megan!” I hear a familiar, deep voice call from behind me, “Wait up!”
“Not a chance! I’d say you’ve got long enough legs to catch up to me,” I respond, an air of fake confidence in my voice. I slow down only slightly, despite my original statement, and, sure enough, Owen manages to reach me in a few long strides.
“You’re difficult, you know that?” he laughs softly. I pray that no one saw my insides turn into literal jelly. What am I even supposed to do? My legs keep moving, but my mind is such a jumbled mush that it can’t comprehend anything around me. Which shouldn’t be happening. I’m a strong, independent woman---I don’t need him telling me if I’m pretty or not. I don’t.
So, as we walk, I begin concentrating on not concentrating on him. I quickly find that doing so is no use to me and caused me to not hear a single word Owen just spoke.
“You still there, shorty?” he teases, poking the top of my head.
“Hmm? Oh, yeah! Sorry. Just a little out of it, I guess.” Which was true, to be fair---I just decided it would be better to give him only half of the truth, for my heart’s sake. “What’d you say?”
Owen’s shoulder bumps into mine slightly, “I asked if you were eating in the office today. Thought I’d join you, but it looks as though you’re empty-handed.”
I stop in my tracks as he finishes speaking. “Idiot. Idiot, idiot, idiot,” I whisper to myself, hoping he doesn’t hear me. Because my luck is shit today, he does, and he seems to believe I was talking to him.
“Excuse me?” Owen laughs nervously, surprised by my comment.
“No!” I exclaim a little too loudly, “Not you! I was talking to myself. Didn’t realize it until you mentioned it, but I forgot my food at home; it’s been a crazy morning, so I didn’t really think about grabbing to before I left.”
“What happened?”
“Oh, nothing important, really. Just stuff with my dog…” I wanted to add ‘and you’, but it seems a bit… Forward. Creepy. Stalker-ish. Take your pick. “Made some grilled chicken, noodles, and asparagus last night, too. Looks like it’s the vending machine for me today! Yay.”
“I mean, you don’t have to…” Owen looks away slightly as his sentence trails off.
I let out a bitter laugh. “Unless you’re suggesting that I turn back and risk being late just for a bag of mediocre food, I’m afraid I do.”
“Fair point, but no. ‘Tis not what I mean by that, miss,” he taunts, putting on one of the worst fake British accents I’ve ever heard. It’s something he does often. Why? No clue---not even an inkling of an idea, but it makes my heart melt every time.
“Then what do you have in mind?”
“We could always go out to lunch. There’s this cafe-diner-thing a block or two down from the office that serve the best grilled cheese known to man. If you haven’t tried don’t think I won’t drag you there myself,” Owen laughs. I can feel my eyes light up at the prospect of that. “It can be a group thing or something.”
My shoulders deflate just a tiny bit. I knew it wasn’t going to be a date---I’m not that stupid, but I hoped it could at least be just the two of us. It’s okay, I think to myself, taking in a deep breath, It doesn’t matter. We’re just friends. I force a smile before agreeing. “Oh, yeah. Totally! Sounds great. I can see if Laura and Chelsea want to come.”
We’d finally reached our destination when the conversation began and are now parting ways as it ends. “Awesome! See you then?”
“Definitely,” I say softly. Despite my disappointment, I’m able to produce a small---but very genuine---smile.
I’m practically floating as I make my way to my tiny desk and collapse onto my rolling chair. Slumped completely down (in a way that is terrible for my back), I let out a startled screech as a voice, seemingly coming from nowhere, scares me senseless.
“You’re late,” Chelsea teases in a sing-song tone from above me.
“...No I’m not.” I point at the large clock across the room.
“How…” she stumbles over words, “How do you know I didn’t come in early and change the time on all of the clocks because... Pranks?”
“Chels, you’re still wearing your coat.”
“It’s cold.”
“How about the fact that, one, your coffee is still steaming and you refuse to drink the tar that they have here. Two, you don’t wake up any earlier than you absolutely have to because you’re the definition of a night owl. Or, and I’d say this is my most convincing argument, three, you just don’t care enough to do that.” I sit up as I rest my case and begin pulling out my things for the day.
“You’re no fun,” Chelsea pouts, lowering herself behind the cork board wall that separates us.
Ignoring her very hurtful words, I continue the conversation as though nothing happened, “Has Laura come in yet?”
She scoots her chair over to your side as she answers, “I don’t think so. Or if she has I haven’t seen her. Why?”
I let out a groan and drop my head onto my desk, smashing the keys on my laptop. “Great. I needed her to help me make some copies because I have to meet with some clients later today and I have no clue how to work that… Thing.”
Chelsea opens her mouth, prepared to offer help, but I cut her off before she can, “Don’t. I love you, but she’s the only one who can tame the beast. I swear that if anyone looked at it the wrong way it would set the entire building on fire. Especially if it were either of us.”
“That’s fair,” she relinquishes. Suddenly, a tornado in human form tears through the office dropping a pile of things on Laura’s desk and races into a conference room, all in a matter of .04357 milliseconds.
“She’s here,” I chuckle slightly.
Twenty minutes later, Laura races back into the room and all but sprints to her desk. Thinking she might actually be done in there, I try to ask for her help. And, before I’m ever able to finish saying her name, she explains, “Can’t talk right now. Still doing the presentation; just forget some papers.”
Not long after that, Laura is finally free and snatches my papers from my desk, taking them to that dreaded machine and returning with 15 more than I need.
“Sorry about the extras,” she sighs as she drops them in my lap, “There was an error with the copier, but at least you have those if you need them.”
“Thank you!” I exclaim in a hushed voice, “You are a life saver, I swear!”
“Are you just now figuring that out?” Laura laughs.
I stick my tongue out at her before continuing my work.
I later feel a light tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I find Owen standing there, a large stack of papers in his hand. “Hey, what’s up?”
“I was just on my way to steal Anthony’s copier, but I thought I’d let you know that James, Benny, and the others can’t make it to lunch. Any luck with you?”
Before I can even consider speaking, Laura immediately turned the focus of the conversation to Anthony. “Wait. Wait just a second. Anthony’s been hiding a perfectly working copier from us?!”
“Guess so.” Owen gives a small shrug.
“What the hell!” she exclaims angrily.
To avoid the situation from escalating, I direct us back to our original topic. “I completely forgot to ask about lunch. Umm… Chels, Laura, either of you doing anything for lunch? I forgot my food this morning, so we thought it’d be a fun idea to get a little group together to go out.” My friends share a conspiratorial look when I’m finished.
Chelsea’s the first to respond. “I really wish I could, but,” she pauses, “I have to run home and feed Pepper. Planned on just stopping by McDonald’s or something on my way back.”
“Neither can I,” Laura sighs with an ingenuine sadness in her voice, “Thomas wanted to take me out at that new sushi place across town. Sorry. Hope you guys have fun.”
A smile twitching on his lips, Owen turns back to me. “Just the two of us, then.”
“Yep,” I mumble quietly, my face growing warmer by the second.
“See you in a bit?”
“Yep,” I repeat myself. His smile was now a grin as he left. Once he’s gone, I snap my eyes back to the two girls, glaring.
“What the fuck was that about?! First of all, you,” I point at Chelsea’s floating head, “Don’t a cat. Or a dog. Or any kind of pet! As for you, Laura. Don’t think I don’t know that Thomas won’t be home for another week. That’s all you’ve been talking about since he left!”
“It’s a week and three days,” she corrects me.
“Exactly my point!”
“Sorry, but we had to!” Chelsea cuts in, “You’ve had one of Cupid’s little arrows stuck in your ass since you started working here two years ago!”
“Not to mention the fact that this is probably the happiest we’ve seen you since your sister made you move out all because what’s-his-name told her to,” Laura adds.
I sigh, sinking into my chair for the second time today. “I know you guys are just trying to be nice. And, you’re right; I have been. He just makes me feel all kinds of weird inside. It’s like I can’t control anything when I’m around him, but that doesn’t mean I need your help with him.”
Laura scoffs and Chelsea rolls her eyes at my obvious lie. “Okay. Fine, I do. But don’t do it so obviously next time!”
My personal matchmakers lower themselves back down and I spin back to my computer. Just another hour to go…
🔹🔹🔹🔹
Lunch seemed to fly by quickly. As we waited on our food, conversations were had about simple, silly things like our favorite color, or how we drink our coffee. Others were about how work had been going and what movies we’d watched recently.
“Okay...” he pondered as he took a sip of his sweet tea, “What’s your favorite scary movie?” Shocked by the question, I couldn’t come up with an answer, so I gave him the most definite one that I could. Kind of.
“Probably anything but the Chuckie movies,” I laughed.
The moment that sentence left my mouth, he immediately corrected me. “It’s Child’s Play, you know?”
“What?”
“The movies.”
“Whatever it’s called, it scarred me for life, and I want absolutely nothing to do with it.” I crossed my arms and shuddered at the thought of even possibly watching it again. I knew it was a terrible movie, but that didn’t change anything.
The stroll back was uneventful, but peaceful. And, now, as we wait out the last couple minutes before we had to return to our respective desks, Owen and I have found ourselves walking slowly back to mine, trying to make our time together stretch as long as possible.
Suddenly, Owen grabs my arm gently, pulling me to a stop just a few feet short of my destination, and leans in. My breaths shorten and my body goes frigid as he does so.
His lips brush against my ear as he says softly, “Please don’t think I’m weird for doing this, but Laura and Chelsea have been eavesdropping since we were within listening distance. Anyway, I was wondering if you’d maybe like to go out to dinner tonight? Or this weekend? Or just, at any point in time that would conveniently work for you?”
I let out a chuckle---no, a giggle---at his awkwardness, but then I’m immediately hit by butterflies flooding my stomach as I take in his words. Once I finally come to my senses, my head is frantically bobbing up in down in complete and utter agreement.
After we shared out little… Moment, I make my way to my desk. At this point, I’m not even trying to hide the giant grin on my face. Or my blushing cheeks. Or the fact that my heart is thudding in my chest with pure excitement and joy.
Chelsea and Laura don’t bother pretending that they didn’t see what just happened, and they were sure to let me know about that.
“Did you see the way he was looking at you?” Laura gushes, “And that smile?! What’d he say?”
“What are you even talking about? It was nothing,” I roll my eyes at the rambunctious, gossip-hungry pair, but tell them anyway. “He just asked if I wanted to go out for dinner sometime.”
“Nothing?” Chelsea practically yells, “Are you kidding? There’s no way he doesn’t like you!”
I roll my eyes yet again, knowing not to get my hopes up, but I can’t help but wonder. I’d like to believe I’m not completely clueless; it’s obvious he just asked me on a date, but will it actually go anywhere?
The days that followed were spent trying to coordinate Owen and I’s schedules on the way to work, and deciding where we could go. We also found ourselves around each other outside of work more than usual as we waited for the day to come.
One more week… That’s all I’ve gotta do; make it one more week and I’ll know for sure if this will work out.

The Very Best of Supernatural
Supernatural was just renewed for a fifteenth season. Which is insane. Even more disturbing is the fact that I've been reviewing this show for fourteen years, and it just... won't... end. Looking back over my earliest reviews, it's funny that I kept fretting about cancellation. Who knew?
The 300th episode will air this Thursday, February 7. In observance of this major event, six Agents of Doux compiled lists of their favorite Supernatural episodes, and I tallied our choices and made a final top ten. Okay, eleven, because there was a tie in there, but it was really hard to bring it down to eleven, let me tell you. Our list of honorable mentions went from here and out the door.
So here they are. Please note that if you haven't seen all or most of the series, there will inevitably be spoilers.
11. "A Very Supernatural Christmas" (season 3, episode 8)
Christmas arrives smack dab in the middle of Dean’s last year on Earth, or so we believed at the time. Sam, knowing he will soon be left to carry on after his brother’s death, has no desire to celebrate which is at odds with Dean’s intention to collect as many happy memories as he can before the end.
This marks Supernatural’s first holiday episode with a marriage of gruesomeness, absurdity, and bittersweetness we'd already grown to love – from a blood-soaked Santa dragging a father up the chimney in front of his son, to bridge-playing pagan gods threatening Dean with the swear jar while preparing him and Sam for ritual sacrifice, all ending with the brother’s exchanging heartfelt gifts from a neighborhood Gas Mart as Baby looks on. The pièce de résistance – learning Dean’s amulet was a Christmas gift from a young Sam in unsaid acknowledgment that Dean was often more of a parent to Sam than John was. And no, I’m still not over Dean throwing it away. – Shari
10. "In the Beginning" (season 4, episode 3)
A remarkably funny but ultimately tragic tribute to Back to the Future, Dean is sent back in time by Castiel and interacts with his young parents. He discovers that his mother and grandparents were hunters, and that Mary essentially sold as-yet-unborn Sam's future to the Yellow-Eyed Demon in exchange for John's life.
"In the Beginning" is a perfect example of the attention the Supernatural writers pay to continuity and series mythology, since it explained Mary's actions in the pilot episode on the night that she died. Plus it features, in my opinion, one of the most touching moments in the entire series. It's when young Mary tells Dean, not knowing that he is her son, "You know the worst thing I can think of? The very worst thing? It's for my children to be raised into this, like I was." It choked me up when it first aired. It still does. – Billie Doux
9. "Baby" (season 11, episode 4)
The longevity of this series has allowed the writers to experiment and take chances, which often gives us exceptional episodes. This is one of them.
The Impala is home for the Winchesters, a legacy from their father. That car is not just in nearly every episode; it's also the setting of many of the most important brother scenes in the series. "Baby" gave us an entire episode from the car's point of view. I'm going to crib from my initial review: "This episode was such a love letter to the fans. It was the world of the Winchesters, but not what we usually see on the show. It was what happens in between and around what we usually see." The camera angles, the head in the cooler, the windshield wipers, the valet parking, Castiel on the cell phone, the brothers singing "Night Moves" together, it was different from all the others but a practically perfect episode. – Billie Doux
8. "Fan Fiction" (season 10, episode 5)
Supernatural's 100th episode ("Point of No Return") was good, but arc-plot heavy. Coming in the middle of a very serious storyline, it's dramatic and moves the plot along. But its 200th, "Fan Fiction," is a complete contrast and a sheer joy from start to finish. An episode centred around a girls' school putting on a musical they wrote themselves, based on the first five years of Supernatural, sounds like a terrible idea. And yet, writer Robbie Thompson makes it work. The episode also features great performances from the young actresses, but it's the numerous call backs in jokes and the way the episode revisits old favourites with a twist that make it one of the show's most re-watchable episodes. – Juliette
7. "Swan Song" (season 5, episode 22)
Endings are hard, as Chuck would say. You have to balance expectation with payoff, death and survival and a resolution that feels satisfying. For Supernatural, this was supposed to be it, the show's literal swan song, as planned out by Kripke. It was sad and painful. If this had been the ending, it would’ve left us with Dean trying to live on after losing his brother to spend eternity with the Devil in hell, and that’s pretty brutal. Of course, framing the story around Baby, and making the car one of the most important things in the universe, was perfect. The only reason we didn’t end with Sam in the box is because of season renewal, leaving us with more questions than answers. Including what happened to Chuck. – J.D. Balthazar
6. “Dark Side of the Moon” (season 5, episode 16)
This episode has always been a huge favorite of mine. The opening scene where Dean and younger Sam set off fireworks to "Knock Knock Knocking on Heaven's Door" was so gorgeous that it gave me goosebumps.
How many shows would dare to send their two main characters to Heaven? And show that Heaven as somewhat creepy? What I found poignant was that the brothers' choice of happy memories mostly don't include each other. I've often thought that a perfect end to the series would be the two of them in a Heaven that finally included each other, with everything that ever divided them fully resolved. – Billie Doux
5. "Wishful Thinking" (season 4, episode 8)
Absolutely one of their best comical episodes, from the "deep woods Duchovny" line to the suicidal teddy bear. Although, of course, what makes funny Supernatural episodes work is that there is always an element of underlying seriousness or tragedy. Here, it was the acknowledgement that using magic to make someone love you is evil. This was also the episode where Dean told Sam the truth about his experiences in Hell. – Billie Doux
4. "Don't Call Me Shurley" (season 11, episode 20)
Supernatural has a warm heart and it's often hilarious, but it's not often happy. Usually, the joy of watching Supernatural comes at least partly from knowing that whatever's going on in your own life, Sam and Dean surely have it worse. But "Don't Call Me Shurley" is different. The ending of "Don't Call Me Shurley" is miraculous – and we mean that literally. The rest of the episode is a delight anyway, offering a witty back and forth between God and His Voice – and finally confirming what "Swan Song" had only suggested. But that ending, when, temporarily at least, we get a real miracle and a moment of salvation, is what makes this episode really special – eleven years of storytelling reaching a thrilling moment of clarity. – Juliette
3. "The Monster at the End of This Book" (season 4, episode 18)
Oh, how I love this one. "Monster" is the introduction to the meta episodes where the Winchesters discover that they are main characters in a series of novels called "Supernatural," written by hack writer Chuck Shurley. As I said in my write-up of "Baby," it's taking radical chances with the narrative while continuing to stick closely to the show's mythology that makes Supernatural special.
And wow, this episode is special. Clever and funny and full of geeky in-jokes (especially the boys' disgusted discovery of the existence of Winchester slash), there is also that foundation of tragedy that makes it all work. The brothers cannot escape their fate. It's in the Winchester Gospels. – Billie Doux
2. "Changing Channels" (season 5, episode 8)
Take a beloved character, mix in playful jabs at some of the most popular TV shows while both expanding the narrative and laying the fate of the world on the interpersonal relationship of our favorite brothers. No wonder it’s one of the show’s creator, Eric Kripke’s favorite episodes. We discover the Trickster we’ve grown to know and love is none other than the Archangel Gabriel, little brother to Michael and Lucifer. Now that the Winchester’s have given Michael and Luci the Earth on which to wage their civil war, Gabriel is eager to see it end no matter the cost.
This doesn’t mean he can’t have fun doing it. Between the sitcom Supernatural’s opening credits, Dean fangirling over Dr. Sexy, Sam and the literal nutcracker, and the meta nod to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of a ghost on certain Seattle based medical show that shall remain nameless, we are treated to a host of laugh out loud moments. My personal favorite was Sam’s less than ecstatic performance in a genital herpes commercial. – Shari
"Nutcracker!!!!"
1. "Mystery Spot" (season 3, episode 11)
There’s something both twisted and poignant about watching Dean die again and again. Funny in a macabre way, for sure but also a touch tragic because in the Supernatural verse, those deaths were real. Well, real in that each was recorded, and each time he went to heaven briefly. No wonder Death finds Dean fascinating and frustrating.
Of course, it was really Sam’s episode, dealing with the pain of watching his brother die again and again, and the numbness that came with it was palpable. To this day, in season fourteen this episode has been referenced. Pretty good impact for a generally comedic episode. – J.D. Balthazar
Conclusion (by Billie Doux)
Putting this list together made me want to rewatch the entire series, although with so many seasons, that's turned into a major commitment. You know, we could probably put together lists of our top ten best comic episodes, the ten most tragic, ten scariest, ten best angel episodes, ten best ghost episodes, and so on because with so many seasons, there's so much to choose from.
It's interesting that the Groundhog Day episode "Mystery Spot" turned out to be our number one, simply because most of us put it on our list. Is it yours? Is your favorite even on this list? Post it in the comments!
Billie Doux has been reviewing Supernatural for so long that Dean and Sam Winchester feel like old friends. Courageous, adventurous, gorgeous old friends.

All I Want for Christmas
Part of the Our Photo Album series - does not need to be read in order but is recommended Series Masterlist Previous Part
AO3 Link
Summary: Dan plans to spend the Christmas alone, Phil isn't going to let that happen.
Author’s Notes: I thought that after my last Christmas fic everyone deserves a happy fluffy story. So here it is! This is FLUFF CENTRAL
I hope you enjoy!!!!
(Also don’t forget to leave a request I would love to hear from you)
To Dan, Christmas had always been one present on Christmas, an awkward dinner with a well cooked chicken, maybe some gingerbread for desert, and, as he got older, wishing he didn’t have to spend it with his mum and dad. He knew it wasn’t like that for most people, kids in his class used to be horrified when they discovered that he only got one present on Christmas, plus a check from his grandma, when she was alive that was.
However, as Dan sat at his dining room table, drumming his fingers against the acacia surface he knew what he wanted for Christmas that year. Phil was as bright as the star on top of Dan’s christmas tree, his eyes sparkled and Dan was drunk on the way that smile made him feel. He was telling Dan all about what he was doing with his family for Christmas, a splotch of whipped cream resting in the corner of his mouth from the pancakes they just finished.
“So I’m taking a train on Christmas morning up to my parent’s house, so we can spend Christmas Eve together if that works for you?” Phil gently patted Dan’s hand as he sat down next to him, Dan grinned, wiping at the cream in the corner of his boyfriend’s mouth, Phil smiled and leant into the touch. “Sounds perfect,” Dan replied softly, his eyes sweeping over the soft curves of Phil’s mouth, his horrible Christmas sweater, and all the way too his mismatched socks. When had he gotten so lucky? Phil grinned, lighting up the room as he did so, “So! What’re you doing for Christmas Danny? Catching up with Bea?”
Dan felt his heart sink slightly, Phil hadn’t questioned him when he said that he didn’t really see his family anymore. Understatement of the century, the only member of his family he was planning to see, ever if he had his way, was Bea. Phil didn’t press him on the topic, but he couldn’t really understand, Dan knew that. Phil’s family was just so close, Dan’s family never had been, but it had grown icier since Dan came out.
He shook his head, “Nah, Beet’s gone to Spain with some friends for the holidays,” he shrugged. “So,” Phil trailed off with an confused look, “What’re you doing for Christmas.” Dan shrugged again, avoiding eye contact, Phil nudged his arm gently and he sighed, “Just hanging out here? Probably play carols too loud, like the rebel I am,” he attempted at some light humour but judging by the furrowed eyebrows Phil was sporting it fell short. With gentle fingers Dan reached up and smoothed the creases between Phil’s eyes, “Hey, it’s fine. I don’t mind at all, and we can spend Christmas Eve together.”
Phil nodded but Dan had a feeling that wasn’t the end of it.
~-~-~
He was right, not even two hours later, Phil’s phone began to ring and Dan watched as he perked up, as though he was expecting a call. They were intertwined together on the couch, halfway through ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ a movie they had both seen a million times before, in all honesty neither of them were really watching. It was as though putting on the tv gave them an excuse to make out without feeling as though that was all they were doing. Dan let out a noise of protest as Phil pushed him off his lap to pick up the phone.
“Hi!” He exclaimed and raised a finger to Dan, indicating that he would be back soon before walking into the hallway. Dan flopped back on his couch, it almost felt like their couch at that point, Phil spent so much time at Dan’s apartment as it was. It almost seemed ridiculous that they weren’t living together, especially on the random morning’s when Phil would need to go home for a change of clothes, Dan was almost tempted to just ask him to move in, but the prospect seemed terrifying.
He could hear Phil pacing up and down the hall, chattering happily, Dan loved the sound of Phil’s voice. It was steady and even, in ways Dan’s excited blabbering could never hope to achieve, but melodic at the same time. The way he spoke made you want to listen, as though anything he said could be interesting. He and Dan both shared the strange knack of making boring stories interesting, which made for a fun dinner time.
Finally after about ten minutes of Dan lying and listening to the indecipherable murmuring from the through the door Phil returned. “I have great news!” He exclaimed, dancing over to Dan and snuggling up to him. Dan hummed, gently placing a kiss to Phil’s jaw as they curled back into their regular position, bodies side by side and legs intertwined so that it was impossible to see where two bodies separated. “What is it?” Dan asked, his hand easily finding its way to Phil’s as though on reflex.
“Mum said you can join us for Christmas!” Phil made little cheering arms with his hands, before mellowing down slightly, “If you want to that is? I totally understand if you would rather stay home, my family can be totally weird and it might be scary but I would love-” Dan stopped listening to Phil’s nervous rambling, his brain short circuiting at the idea. He could spend his whole Christmas with Phil? With his mother’s feast that Dan had been told so much about, and Martyn who Dan had met over Skype and their crazy extended family? But most importantly, he would get to spend the whole Christmas with Phil.
He realised he had been zoned out thinking about the possibilities of it for a little too long, Phil was still rambling, “I’m going to take your silence as a bad sign and say no you don’t want to come. I’m sorry I should have asked you first, I always do these crazy things where I don’t think about maybe other options would be bett-” Dan cut him off by surging forward and catching his mouth in a kiss, he was smiling far too widely for it to be executed properly but neither of them cared. When they finally broke apart, barely moving far enough so that their noses stopped brushing Phil smiled hesitantly, “So is that a yes?”
“Of course it’s a yes you spork!” Dan replied easily, laughing as he grabbed Phil by his ugly Christmas jumper and kissed him again.
~-~-~
“MY BEAUTIFUL BOYFRIEND WHO I LOVE MORE THAN PHOTOGRAPHY!” Phil yelled loudly a week later, at an hour that was entirely too early for such behaviour. Dan groaned and rolled over, burying his face in the pillow beside him, “Remind me why I let you stay over?” He growled into the soft fabric. Phil chuckled, poking Dan in the side until he turned to face him, hair fluffy and curly from sleep and eyes heavy. Phil’s glasses were slightly askew and his fringe was pushed up in a quiff from sleeping on it, as tired as he was Dan couldn’t help but smile at how adorable his boyfriend was.
“Because you love me?” Phil prompted and Dan groaned weakly again, tugging himself into a sitting position before flopping back onto Phil’s lap. “Not enough clearly,” he wrinkled his eyes into a sleepy smile as Phil poked his dimples softly. Rolling his eyes Phil simply began petting Dan’s hair, “It’s Christmas Eve, which means our early Christmas which means I’m treating it as though it’s Christmas morning,” Phil shrugged as though that was a simple explanation, his glasses falling down his nose in a way that was ridiculously endearing.
Dan huffed, reaching for his boyfriend’s face, “Fine then, you can deal with morning breath kisses,” he smirked and Phil obliged moving forward to gently slot their lips together. It was a soft kiss, which didn’t last for long because both of them were still in a half slumberish state, but Dan savoured every second of it. When Phil pulled away Dan sat up, stretching his stiff back and yawning, “Do you really love me more than photography?” He asked with a small smile. Phil tugged him into an awkward cuddle position, “Obviously,” he laughed.
They hurried down the stairs around ten minutes later, now that Dan was awake he was eager to give Phil his present. It was the first of many, however Phil’s mother had made them swear to save at least two for the family party, Dan had decided to give his sappiest gift in the safety of their own home, where Phil’s family couldn’t scrutinise him. Not that they would. “Merry Christmas Bear!” Phil exclaimed, holding out a large red box with a teddy bear attached to it.
Dan raised an incredulous eyebrow at the stuffed toy, as he retrieved the box from his boyfriend’s grip, they both dropped to the floor next to the Christmas tree, ignoring the cold floorboards beneath them, “Really? A bear?” He teased, a bright smile covering his face as Phil blushed staring at the ground. He gently untied the fluffy creature and placed it on the floor beside him. The wrapping was easy to rip through and quickly he found himself face to face with three piano books.
His mouth fell open in shock, eyes drifting over to the barely used piano in the corner of the room and then back to his boyfriend, “Wh-what?” Phil smiled at him, his cheeks still heavily flushed, “I love hearing you play and I thought maybe some new music might help you play more often?” Dan leapt on him causing Phil to yelp with shock as they tumbled backwards. “I love you,” Dan whispered softly, as though if he stayed quiet this moment could stay with them forever. Phil smiled in that beautifully intoxicating way, as though he was glowing and happiness was radiating off him.
Dan connected their lips without another thought, trying to project every thought, every word he couldn’t say into the kiss. Phil gasped softly but otherwise reciprocated, Dan could feel the way Phil seemed to glow in the kiss, he could feel his light and he was drunk it. When they finally broke apart, chests heaving and foreheads pressed together, “I love you too, dork.”
“Nerd.”
“Spoon.”
“Spork.”
“Bear,”
Dan blushed at the nickname, rolling off Phil’s chest and collecting his present from under the tree.
He handed it to Phil without looking up from the floor, suddenly doubting whether it was a good idea or not. It took a lot of effort, and had taken a long time to make, but that didn’t mean Phil would necessarily like it. He had to restrain himself from surging forward to pull the gift out of Phil’s grip, self doubt pressing down on his like a weight.
A small gasp broke him out of his reverie but he didn’t look up from the floor, he could see Phil’s pale slender fingers tracing the edge of the scrapbook delicately, as though it were a precious item. Then suddenly those fingers were under his chin, and his head was being tilted up with that same air of delicacy, as though Dan was made of porcelain, as though he were a precious item that should be treasured.
“It’s beautiful Dan,” Phil whispered, his face inches from Dan’s own, minty breath fanning against Dan’s face. Dan chuckled wetly, “You haven’t even opened it yet,” he pointed out, blinking quickly to get rid of the tears pooling in his eyes. Phil smiled at him, the corner of his lips quirking up ever so slightly and his eyes crinkling in the inner corners, “I wasn’t talking about the scrapbook.”
The tears flowed freely then, Phil pressed their lips together gently, continuing to cup Dan’s chin to angle their heads better. He pulled apart and whispered in Dan’s ear, “although it is the best thing I’ve ever been given.” Dan chuckled through his light tears, “Open it you spork!” Phil grinned at him, opening the leatherbound book with sparkling eyes.
Inside the pages were filled with all the photos Phil had taken, whether with a phone, a crappy school camera, or Dan’s camera (which would soon be Phil’s), every photo was there. The first page had the photo from their first date, the two boys smiling with flushed cheeks, only four months ago but how time had flown since then. Dan still remembered wishing he could will up the courage to kiss Phil on that first date, he hadn’t but the cheek kiss had turned Phil into a dopey mess so it was a close second.
On every page were messages from Dan, about how he felt, things he had never told Phil before about him. Like how much he loved Phil’s eyes, how nervous he had been when they first met, his favourite photo Phil took of them - from the day they had first kissed at the ocean - the pages held it all. Dan realised with a start that Phil, his rock, the steady force that rarely could be broken, was crying. They were soft tears, but with every turned page they grew heavier.
Dan gently reached his hand out to take Phil’s, “Hey? Happy tears o-or-” Phil cut him off with a kiss, similarly to how Dan had done just last week when he was invited to their family Christmas. It tasted of freshly brushed teeth, salty tears and happiness. “This is the best present I’ve ever received,” Phil choked through tears and Dan chuckled leaning their heads together. “You gave me mine four months ago.”

When Raoul showed up the Phantom was so sarcastic, sitting on his throne with his “you have truly made my night” - I swear he rolled his eyes on “your lover makes a passionate plea” 😂 but he was really angry when Raoul said “does that mean nothing? I love her!” From the moment he got the noose around Raoul’s neck he was really manic and aggressive, throwing Christine to the floor on “this is the choice” - he also went back to his organ and played the last few chords on “this is the point of no return” 😂 The three-part harmonies were amazing, and the whole exchange was acted so well (particularly during the “either way you choose you cannot win/he has to win” - the Phantom was sauntering around really smugly) and Christine’s anger with “you deceived me” was almost tangible. The Phantom knocked Christine back to the floor and grabbed her hair to make her look at him again, and he left a long pause in the line so it was like “you try.....my patience” 👌🏻😍 Unfortunately, the kiss was another part which was downstage right, so I had to lean really far forward in my seat to get a good view (I ended up accidentally kneeing the guy in front of me in the shoulder 🙈😂) but it was so well done - the Phantom was shaking the whole time and didn’t touch Christine at all, not returning her hug or anything because he was so in shock, his hands just sort of shaking around her. Raoul was looking away and had an almost disgusted look on his face while it was happening (I suppose it would be a bit weird to watch your fiancée kissing the weirdo from the sewers who used to be her voice teacher but who’s been stalking her for ages). He sobbed as he ran away from her towards the candles, and you could hear Christine saying “no, please no” as he walked towards Raoul with it (because obviously she wouldn’t have known what he was doing with the candle). He did hold the candle to the side of Raoul’s neck for quite a while before burning the rope down 😂 the Phantom was distraught for the rest of the scene, he sounded on the verge of tears the whole way through his lines, and he collapsed to the floor with his head in his hands almost screaming on “go now and leave me!” The Masquerade lines were so sad, and he was stroking the monkey on the music-box like a child would stroke a teddy bear or something to comfort themselves. The “Christine, I love you” was of course heartbreaking, and Christine just nodded her head and gave him his ring back with a sad smile. He cried again clutching the veil as he heard Christine and Raoul singing on their way out of the lair, with his “you alone can make my song take flight” more quiet and resigned whilst his final “it’s over now, the music of the night!” was really powerful, his voice is really strong. The mob actually start climbing down the portcullis (again, I had the fear that someone was going to fall off) and the disappearing act with the throne was brilliant even though I knew it’d be coming 😂 I cried watching this Final Lair (and whilst I am known for crying pretty easily, I usually don’t actually cry at this, so you know it was good 😂). The perfect finale to a perfect show.
A few other less-ordered thoughts 😂:
I got the special souvenir programme and it had a rose in it with a ribbon tied round it that had Think of Me lyrics on it and it was too cute 😭🌹
Madame Giry totally reminds me of my old dance teacher
All of the scene changes were seamless
The orchestra were phenomenal - everything was well-balanced and created such a good atmosphere
Firmin kinda broke the fourth wall? 😂 there was a bit just at the start of Il Muto where Andre talks about how “the old operas are the best” and Firmin mentions the “old audience” whilst looking directly out to the auditorium (can’t believe we got roasted by Firmin)
The costumes are all STUNNING but I think my favourite was Christine’s wishing dress - I noticed last night that the red parts that I had thought were the lining of her cloak was actually HER RED SCARF (!!) and then I got real sad because I realised she was probably wearing it to feel closer to her father when she went to his grave
I went to the stage door after the performance, and everyone was so lovely - Ben Lewis wished me a happy birthday (!!!!!!!) and I got pictures with Ben, Bridget and Georgia (I’ll put them at the end of this post, although the ones I have with Georgia are kinda blurry so I’ll not post those😂) Also, thanks to a wonderful coincidence, I got to meet a fellow Phan from the Discord server ( @ladyjess-oftheshadows )!! It was so lovely to meet you and it made this already-amazing night even better 💖
Overall, I had the time of my life at the show and I would absolutely recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance!!! Ben Lewis has definitely secured himself as my favourite Phantom, and I’m so glad I got such a good cast for my first ever experience of the show. Every element of the show was perfect and I loved every second of it ❤️🎶🌹
Thoughts on Phantom 🌹🎶❤️ (West End, August 6th 2018)
(Hahaha the post was too long so I’m going to put Act I here and reblog to add Act II 💖)
Last night I went to see The Phantom of The Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London - my first ever West End show and my first time ever seeing Phantom!!! Safe to say it was AMAZING 😍 it was everything I could have hoped for and more!! I had Ben Lewis (!!!) as the Phantom, Bridget Costello as Christine and Jeremy Taylor as Raoul, all of whom were absolutely brilliant!
Ben Lewis’ Phantom…..what can I say? The first word that springs to mind is captivating - every moment he was on stage I was utterly spellbound. He puts so much emotion into his performance, and I had tears in my eyes more than once. He really captured the difference in the Phantom from when he first takes Christine down to his lair to when he takes her again after Don Juan - you can see how much the unmasking breaks him, he loses his gentleness and becomes more erratic, and he breaks down SO WELL. Everything about Ben Lewis is amazing.
Bridget Costello is STUNNING!!! Not only is she beautiful, her dancing is amazing and her voice is gorgeous. She had such amazing technique with everything she did - she conveyed even the subtlest of Christine’s emotions perfectly, and her performance was stellar.
Jeremy Taylor was brilliant, my Angry Boi™️ Raoul 😩😍 I honestly fell in love with his version of the character - he was more aggressive than I expected, but it was due to his fierce protectiveness over Christine, and you could really feel his animosity towards the Phantom. Absolutely amazing.
Prologue/Overture: ohhhh I got actual CHILLS when the chandelier went up 😍 idk if it was intentional but the lights flickered in time with the music? The orchestra were incredible (more on them later), and the atmosphere was so great
Hannibal: Piangi, you deserve the world. Hannibal was brilliant - the dancing was great, the music was really good, but mainly it was HILARIOUS 😂 my boi Wade the Elephant had a bedazzled helmet (you live your best life, Wade) Carlotta smacking the newspaper out of someone’s hand while she was singing is somehow a mood (petty goals my gal) also was she flirting with Andre?!? The “AMATEURS” line was perfect, the look on his face was just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Think of Me: Okay this was so well acted it hurt 😩 Christine started off really shy and quiet, but once she lost herself in the music she was confident and strong and all-around PERFECT 😍 she had such a breathless smile on her face the whole time, you could tell how much she loved to sing and loved her music. Raoul said “brava” instead of “bravo” and I was so proud, also he didn’t randomly get up and leave like in 2004 so the boy has gained some sense 😂 the cadenza was absolutely gorgeous and I’m jealous of that high note 😩😍
Angel of Music: Meg has such a good voice!! It was sweet and innocent and harmonised beautifully with Christine’s. There were different lyrics to the ones I know (instead of the “Christine you must have been dreaming” lines we had “I watched your face from the shadows/Distant through all the applause/I hear your voice in the darkness/But the words aren’t yours!”) and I LOVED them - it was like Meg was just as excited about Christine’s Angel of Music as she was, rather than her trying to tell Christine that her Angel isn’t real. Loved it.
Little Lotte/The Mirror: Raoul walked into the dressing room and said “Christine Daaé where is your red scarf” and I almost died because somehow the way he said it was really attractive 😂 I loved the harmonies in this, and I really enjoyed the interaction between the two. Christine’s fear when she talked about how strict her Angel is was really good, it subtly set up the dynamic of fear between Christine and the Phantom (which only becomes more evident with the progression of the story). I got chills again at the mirror opening, I totally get why Christine was so hypnotised 👀
The Phantom of the Opera: TITLE SONGGGGG 😍😍😍 the way they showed the descent into the underground was really clever (they had a staircase-type thing that slowly lowered as they walked across it, giving the impression that it was sloping downwards) and the CANDLES omg there were SO MANY OF THEM 😂 during the “sing for me”s at the end of the song the Phantom moved his hands like he was drawing her voice out from her, and he properly went “ohh” when she hit the right notes (the self-caress bit was almost like he was trying to regain his composure)😩😍 I never thought I’d fall in love with someone because of the way they toss a hat away but DEAR GOD it was glorious 👀😍😩👌🏻
Music of the Night: 😭😍 the singing was, as ever, absolutely perfect, and the acting in this was superb - there was a lot of chemistry between the two, and he kept flinching away when he touched Christine, like he couldn’t believe he was able to. At the “touch me, trust me” lines, he had closed his eyes and she reached up to touch his mask, and he instantly pulls away and grabs her wrist with wide eyes. The doll was suitably creepy, but it’s great because we get to see the Phantom carrying Christine (he strong)👀 It was beautiful.
I Remember/Stranger Than You Dreamt It: Okay the performance of the Phantom when composing was perfect - he was scrambling for a pen, jumping up and scribbling furiously when he worked out a phrase, blowing on the ink to dry it so it wouldn’t smudge….10/10. Christine tried to take his mask off a few times but he was so focused on his composition that he didn’t notice (she only missed because he jumped up to write stuff down) and his reaction when she did take off the mask was so well done. He screamed when she took it off and chased her about the lair, trying to get the mask back (and you could tell she was genuinely scared of him) before collapsing on the floor. The “damn you, curse you” line was so full of emotion (he kind of groaned at her?? “ohHhhhH DAMN you” 😂 I loved it, you could feel his frustration) and he then proceeded to fully break down in tears as he sang STYDI. I almost cried watching him, he was so broken and tearful (you could almost HEAR his tears in his voice), and once he put his mask back on you could tell he was annoyed at himself for getting so upset and tried to almost angrily compose himself 😂 honestly one of my highlights of the whole show
Magical Lasso: The ballet girls all ran away screaming when a guy in a cloak and hat walked past 😂 Madame Giry was raging, wish she’d slapped him it would have been gold
Notes I: The looks on their faces when they were reading the notes 😂👌🏻 André did a little sad face at “the dancing was a lamentable mess :(“ and the “what is it that we’re meant to have wrote” was obviously brilliant, it was hilarious - this was Angry Raoul’s debut, he was PISSED about that letter and even MORE pissed when Carlotta accused him of sending hers
Prima Donna: I really liked this one, usually it’s not one of my favourites but it was really well done - when the managers did the bit about “although he may demur/He must have been with her” Raoul stopped in his tracks and turned to stare at them half-disgusted, half-angry, shaking his head a bit. Meg spent the first part of the song looking around the managers’ desk for the notes and examining them, like she was looking for clues as to who the Phantom was. At the end they all sang “sing Prima Donna once more” in a different manner - Raoul was angry and almost sarcastic, Madame Giry looked so done, Carlotta was having the time of her life (but the best was Raoul - he almost spat out the words “prima donna”, so much venom, I love my Angry Boi)
Poor Fool, He Makes Me Laugh: I would genuinely pay good money to see the whole of this opera 😂 the fops looked great, Piangi KILLED it, and it was all going brilliantly until the Phantom shows up to ruin the party. The croaking was great, but I also really liked how Christine forgot her blocking because she was scared of the Phantom. His laugh was proper chilling 👌🏻 the ballet was so good, André walked into about four dancers trying to get off the stage, and I loved the shadows behind the scenery showing the Phantom. If Buquet was a doll it was a hella accurate doll, it was dead realistic 😂 the chaos on the stage was brilliant, and the laughter really cemented the Phantom as a total maniac
Why Have You Brought Us Here: you could really see Christine’s fear in this, also I liked how on the “there inside your mind” lyric Raoul gestured towards Christine’s head, like he was trying to convince her that the Phantom was a figment of her imagination. I missed a lot of Angry Christine here because where I was sitting it was hard to see downstage right (ie the bit of the stage on my left-hand side), but she moved out into centre stage for “but his voice” - Raoul looked at her all concerned during this bit, and you know that he genuinely believes Christine has imagined the man
All I Ask of You: Raoul is my protective boi and I love him okay 😩 he hugged her tighter when he sang “I’m here, no one will harm you”, and he had a determined look in his eyes and more of an edge to his voice, like he was daring the Phantom to try and harm Christine. It was such a sweet and romantic song, the kiss was more gentle than most I’ve seen before, it was just like watching two teenagers in love, plus their voices are so powerful (chills again)
All I Ask of You (Reprise): My HEART 😭😩 this was so heartbreaking, he was crying the whole way through and looked like he was physically in pain (particularly during “he was bound to love you when he heard you sing” - because the Phantom taught her to sing, I think he blames himself for that). When Christine and Raoul were singing he covered his ears and shook his head while sobbing her name, and it was painful to watch 😭 I had the absolute fear while the angel was going back up because he STOOD UP (please don’t fall off), he was so dramatic and angry and I SWEAR to you he was looking RIGHT AT US at this bit - the chandelier falling was SO intense, it fell so much quicker than I was expecting, what an amazing end to the first act
(Act II to follow! 😂)
