Merlin in emerald green is underrated. Everyone always draws him in strictly blue and red, which don’t get me wrong, are definitely his colors. But imagine those gold eyes, against a dark green velvet. Imagine the stark black hair against a soft green grass. Imagine the pale skin and blue eyes in the deepest and richest color the earth can be. Imagine.. just imagine.

Thinking about how, at the end of the day, at the fatal moment, the sunset of the Republic, it wasn’t Yoda, or Obi-Wan, or even the Chosen One himself standing in the way of Palpatine. It was Mace Windu.
Mace Windu, the inventor of Vaapad and Master of Form VII, the Jedi's strongest duelist, the only person to ever defeat Palpatine in combat. Mace Windu, Master of the Jedi Council and the youngest Master ever appointed to it, the revered leader of the Order. Mace Windu, who forgave even those who tried to kill him, who risked his life over and over again for his troops, who, after 3 years of desperate war, tried to negotiate with battle droids. Mace Windu, who knew the clones were created by the Sith and chose to trust them, who saw every Shatterpoint in the Republic, and loved it still, and fought for it until his last breath, until he was betrayed by Anakin, who he believed in and trusted despite everything.
Mace Windu, High General and hero of the Republic, the embodiment of the Light, the last and greatest champion of the Order, the best Jedi to ever live.
#I’ve said my piece goodnight#don’t play with me Mace Antis I have receipts for every last one of these#pretty much everyone agrees that he was the best duelist there was and he obviously won the fight#Anakin's choice wouldn't make thematic sense otherwise#also vader did not defeat palpatine in combat sorry he just grabbed him while he was distracted#it literally had to be a fair fight and Anakin had to be the one to choose to create the empire that's what the prequels are about#Star Wars databank calls him ‘revered’ shatterpoint tells us he was the youngest (real) member of the council#Boba Fett (tcw) and Prosset Dibs (comics) tried to kill him and he asked for amnesty and forgave them#literally just watch the Ryloth arc he spends most of his screentime saving his men#in tcw season seven he pleads with the battle droids to surrender hoping that no one else has to die#there's the part near the end of tcw where the council realizes that the clones were created by Dooku but Mace and the rest of the council#trust the clones so much they're willing to ignore it#the scene from Mace's POV in the rots novelization talks about how much he loves the republic and how he was blindsided by Anakin's betraya#because he trusted him!! we see in aotc that he has more faith in Anakin's abilities than Obi-wan#and he defeated the most powerful sith of all time single-handedly#BEST JEDI EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!#sw prequels#star wars prequels#prequel trilogy#sw prequel trilogy#star wars prequel trilogy#sw rots#star wars rots#revenge of the sith#star wars revenge of the sith#galactic republic#pro mace windu#mace windu#pro jedi order#pro jedi

When you absolutely despise something a lot of people like, and no matter what way you look at it you cannot see the appeal, but you know you can’t talk about it in public or else you’ll get dogpiled to hell and back, so you just kinda sit there frothing at the mouth like this

It's pretty fun imagining Jon and Arthur meeting, but I think that at its core, their relationship has every chance to go to shit.
So here you have Jon, who needs to feed off of people's traumas and fears. Now here you have John and Arthur, who have been through hell and back, and god knows that they have seen some things. Yeah, it's obvious that The Eye would have a field day with Arthur's statement - but that's the point. Because how long before Jon starts going too far? How long before he digs up Arthur's most painful memories, how long before he forces the truth out of both Arthur and John? How long before Arthur and John have to relive their worst periods in life over again? Jon can just Know things about each of them, and they are both pretty private about some memories and facts. And Jon could always swear not to know things about them, however I think John and Arthur would be pretty wary of him still. They just don't like being vulnerable so soon and so suddenly.
And on the other side, you have Arthur, who is so desperate to know things, and here's Jon who just fucking Knows. You gave him the possibility of finally knowing everything. He can finally know how to find the Black Stone, how to get Kayne to fuck off, how to save both him and John. He can know where Faroe is. That's a lot of power that can be used in the wrong way. For example, Arthur could know if John is lying. We know that Arthur and John's relationship relies heavily on trust and opening up when they are ready, at their own pace. And yes, they could both swear not to demand Jon to spill the secrets. They have reached a point where they are capable of keeping that promise, as they have grown much, much closer. But the temptation would be there. How long before one gave in to it? Maybe it wouldn't be out of malice or curiosity. What if it simply slips out of Jon's mouth one time, and they find out something that wasn't meant to be said just yet? And it's pretty known that arguments between John and Arthur escalate really fast. So that presence of knowledge, when they are built on trust in each other, would not be so good.
So this is a pretty negative outcome. Obviously, none of this would ever have to happen if enough trust is built - i think they are capable of that. And that's what makes them so compelling to me. They would need to learn to trust themselves as well as each other in order to work out.

It’s really funny when people are like - but JK hung out with x person 10 times this year! - and it’s like, okay, and then he chose to spend the next 18 months, 547~ days with Jimin? 😭 You might really want to rethink that argument friend. JK had other options, other people he could have gone with, other programs he could have tried for, a later date he could have enlisted on, and yet he chose JM, and vice versa. They didn’t even have to enlist with anyone, they could have gone individually like everyone else in the group. No one was expecting them to enlist together. And this is also probably the furthest thing there is from company content or fanservice considering we’re not even going to be seeing them for the next 18 months and I doubt they’ll even talk about their time in the military. It’s just so silly. “JK and JM were never together this year!” buddy, they’re literally together RIGHT NOW 😭

I have a lot of respect for the Just Stop Oil protestors who interrupted Les Mis last night. I've done disruptive actions before and it's fucking hard. Any kind of direct action is hard, and anyone who participates in civil disobedience (or uncivil disobedience!) will know that.
But still. It's incredibly disheartening to see the negative responses from people who (presumably, seeing as they either follow the account and/or bought tickets to the show) are fans of Les Mis.
And like, I don't know, it's just making me reflect a lot on how popularised versions of Les Mis (mainly the musical) still fail to get through to people. It doesn't hammer home the message in the book's prologue, it's too easy for people to see it as that was then and this is now, that was over there and this is here, etc, etc. Like... I can't stop thinking about how quickly the protestors were thrown under the bus by both the audience and the theatre. How it's easy for people to exercise hypothetical solidarity towards a bunch of fictional characters yet not extend that to real life contexts. How everyone will unanimously agree that the National Guard are the bad guys and then turn around and cheer on the IRL cops for removing protestors. I don't know.
And I've been to productions of Les Mis before where people will cry during the barricade sequence or comment on how upsetting Fantine's story is and then come out of the theatre and walk straight past the unhoused people on the streets. It's not new. But it is particularly jarring when as soon as the lights come up people seem to forget how fervently they hoped that things would be different, and not realise they have to play a part in that change in order for that to happen. Like, the message of Les Mis is supposed to be if you do nothing, nothing will change.
The amount of people who don't seem to grasp that Les Mis condemns people exactly like them, who stood by, who turned away from the people trying to change things, it's just... It's so fucking frustrating.
