So at first I reblogged this with nothing. No comment, no tags. But then... I dunno I just felt compelled to share this from my life and came back to edit my reblog.
Years ago in February 2010, I moved from Florida to Georgia due to my parents splitting for good. I knew if I stayed with my dad, violence would happen at some point and one of us would be dead and the other in jail for it. I had just started treatment for my bipolar in August 2009 shortly after getting my diagnosis. To move, I had to drop out of college. I'd had to take a year off previously due to family and financial reasons, and had finally gotten back in January 2010. I also had to get a new psychiatrist and therapist so I could continue treatment for my mental health.
It was in group therapy at the new facility in GA where I met this woman. We'll call her Raven, as that's her preferred name. Raven was an older woman in her 50s. We did not have anything in common. But I saw her every week at group. She's been doing this for years. Decades at this point, and while we didn't really interact beyond polite greetings and goodbyes or small talk in the waiting room, a lot of what she said about coping skills resonated with me. Standard coping skills never worked for her, and they don't for me either. So any time she had suggestions for others outside the box, I'd make a note to look into it or try it out. Little by little, her suggestions began to help me adjust to my new situation and work on myself finally after years of being a punching bag for various members of my immediate family. I also heard a lot about her kids, especially her oldest. She never named them. Just indicated them as first son/eldest, daughter/middle, and second son/youngest.
Due to being unable to find work, I left GA for Florida for six months in 2011, returning to GA in September of that year. When I went back into treatment, I didn't see her anymore. I didn't go to group, didn't have transportation reliable enough. And we didn't have appointments near each other either so I didn't cross paths with her again. I'd largely forgotten this woman who had such a positive impact on my recovery and healing journey.
Then, in January 2013, I (unknowingly) met her again at my local library. At this point in my life, I was finally at a point where I was able, with some difficulty, start socializing. I was more confident in myself and my skills and while I hadn't landed a job yet, I did have a few interviews, that sadly I didn't pass but it was better than my job hunts before! And I owed a lot of that progress to that woman's nonjudgmental attitude and suggestions during group years previous.
When I met her again, not recognizing her (admittedly I didn't realize our connection for about 4-6 months after our remewting at the library) I also met her eldest son who was with her that day, who's name I did not know. Because of her suggestions, which I took to heart and used to work on myself for a few years, I was able to not have a panic attack talking to new people. So when this dorky but kinda hot looking guy's phone shouted "EXTERMINATE!" at top volume in the library in a Dalek voice, it immediately drew my attention and prompted me to go over and chat him up. I was only interested in making a new friend, and it was obvious we had a shared interest (as I was wearing my Tom Baker scarf that day as well, so yeah... Very obvious shared interest).
Now, 11 years after marrying that man who's name I learned that very day, and 14 years after meeting his mother, my life is not at all where I imagined it to be at 37. I expected to be a hermit with dogs and alone forever. Now I'm a married person with a 10 year old kid and a dog older than the kid by about a year or two. It's been hard, yes. But I'm actually quite happy with the way things turned out.
Weird how it all started by meeting this one crazy old woman at group therapy.
Whatâs crazy is you can just meet someone and have no idea theyâre going to change your life forever

One year of Hermiting and Crafting...
A year ago I came up with a plan to crochetify a few of my favorite Hermits... and what started with Etho and Cleo then very quickly snowballed into twelve months of turning one Hermit after another into cute tiny yarn people! (I swear I don't have a problem... or do I?)
Being myself, of course I kept getting distracted by different shiny skin designs, so some characters in the lineup are doubled while I'm still missing a few... I'm working on it.
There's also a bunch of dolls that are not in here because I tried to limit the video to those that actually appeared on HC. If you've been following me for a while, you may have seen some Life Series variations quite recently.
Here's to another year of silliness and yarn!

Never been broken ( Leah WilliamsonxReader)
Warnings: mentions of depression, childhood trauma & medication
You have been together with Leah for just two months now after being best friends for three years. Which was practically all the time you have been playing for Arsenal with her.
The fact that you two have been best friends for so long made it even harder to hide the fact from her that you stopped taking your medication for your depression and to reduce the anxiety. You stopped cause they made you feel somewhat numb and not like yourself. Instead of talking with your doctor about it and mentioning this in therapy you stopped going to therapy as well. The truth would come out soon. You just didn't know it yet. Plus it was bound to come out since your mind has been somehere else on the field as well.
It was monday, 9am. You always had therapy on monday. Well you used to before you stopped going around 2 weeks ago. But since no one knew you didn't go anymore you always went to a little Café down the street. Sitting there for like an hour. What you didn't know was that Leah kind of suspected something was up because of the way you have been acting. So she was planning on picking you up from therapy to see if you are actually there. She knew about you not taking your meds anymore because she saw that the bottle with your pills was still full. Since you have been at her place for the last two months, which is basically the entire time of your romantic relationship. So the fact that you didn't take a single one of your pills sure had her worried. But she didn't want to jump to conclussions.
You were sipping on your Coffee when the door to the Café opened and Leah walked in. Waiting in line to order Coffee before picking you up from therapy. Looking around when her eyes land on you. In that very moment you look up as well and lock eyes with her. Frowning softly while she just looked at you with a mixture of confusion and...Hurt?
Forgetting about her Coffee, walking over to you. "Y/m/n! We need to talk." She spoke up. Using your full Name. You knew that she totally was upset with you because she only used your full legal name when you really messed up. "Babe, i can explain!" You said, biting down on your bottom lip. "Let's go to your place since it's only 3 Minutes away!" Leah told you in a tone that didn't leave much space for debate. So you get up, having already paid for your coffee.
You walk next to one another in silence. It was not the comfortable kind. When you reached your place you two sat down on the couch, jackets & shoes still on. "Want something to eat or drink?"you asked her. "What i want are answers! I have questions. Why are you saying you are going to therapy and then i find you at the Café. And i also noticed you didn't take your meds in weeks. Why haven't you told me about it?" She asked. You were playing with your hands now. "I didn't mean to keep it a secret...but the meds made me feel like a different person. I didn't like that! And therapy...we started to talk about childhood trauma and i wasn't ready to deal with that yet!' you admitted and Leah took your hand in hers, her facial expression softening "I am sorry you feel like that and that you are not ready to talk about your Trauma but ignoring it and stopping everything that helps you without talking to a medical professional about it is not a good Idea, beautiful!" Leah told you. "And you know you don't have to lie to me! You can always be honest with me! I Love you and want to be there for you! But you have to let me in!" Your girlfriend added. You squeeze her hand gently. "Love you too. I don't want you to think that i am broken!" You explained and a few tears run down your face. "Darling, you never have been broken, just bruised. Mental health issues don't mean you are broken. You are human!" Leah pulled you into her arms you hold onto her. Staying like this for the next few minutes.
After talking some more and just cuddling for quite some time, you called your doctor and made a new appointment with your therapist. Leah holding your hand the entire time. Luckily she was so supportive and agreed to go to the doctor with you the next day. The doctors would now work close together with the doctors at Arsenal.
The next day you got new meds from your doctor. The following day you had therapy with the therapist at Arsenal. Leah was with you, just holding your hand the entire time.
She really was your biggest support in all of this. Your girlfriend even came to your therapist outside of work with you and you managed to talk about your childhood trauma and how to cope with it in a healthy way. Leah was so proud of you for keeping up with it cause mental health was important to stay on top of. Anything health related was important really.
A little while later your new meds started working really well and you felt like yourself but way more relaxed and happy then you did with your old meds. And you got back to being the fierce soccer player you used to be after being in that little funk.

The cursed forest
"I'm sorry, Tanjirou," Kie looks at him with worry as she keeps cradling a very sleepy Rokuta in her arms. "But your little brother has a fever, and that flower is the only thing that can work on him this time. I wouldn't ask you to do this if there wasâ"
"It's alright," Tanjirou assures his mother with a sincere smile on his face. "I'll be back soon."
"I can go with you," Nezuko says, not even trying to hide the concern in her voice.
"You have to take care of the others while our mother focuses on Rokuta," Tanjirou reminds her. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
But even as he says that, they both know the place he's about to walk in is really dangerous.
Tanjirou doesn't know if he'll be actually fine or that he'll come back at all.
He takes the axe before leaving.
All the Kamados have always avoided the cursed forest; the only one who managed to walk in and out alive was his father, but he got sick and passed away a few years ago.
Tanjirou closes his eyes and prays to his father's spirit to guide him through the woods.
At some point, he starts feeling as if someone is watching him... actually, there are nine scents in the forest, very close to him.
Tanjirou turns around for a moment, and although the shadows are fast, he notices a couple of tails and different pairs of pointy ears.
Wolves. He prays again they're not trying to hunt him as he keeps moving forward because he has no other choice.
He remembers his father talking about the forest and that particular flower; when Tanjirou finds it, he allows himself to believe that it's his father the one who's guiding him.
The problem is that the plant usually grows in boulders or cliffs, and they are always very difficult to reach.
But Tanjirou is not going to give up. The problem is that he has to leave the axe on the ground.
Carefully, he starts climbing, but the surface isn't quite ideal for that, so Tanjirou has to think where he's going to place his feet and hands before actually doing it.
He doesn't look down, but he knows he's pretty high now; if he falls, he'll probably break something (in the best case scenario).
Taking a deep breath, Tanjirou leans his body slightly forward as he frees one of his hands in order to grab the flower.
He feels the moment one of his feet moves because something underneath it breaks; he stumbles a bit, but he doesn't fall.
At least not then. He does fall when he tries to and succeeds in grabbing the flower.
That's when he falls.
But he doesn't actually hit the ground; he lands into a pair of strong arms.
"Should be more careful next time, pretty," a tall man with white hair and a very flashy headband says, smirking at him.
"Thank you!" Tanjirou smiles, feeling relieved. "You saved my life!"
"It was my pleasure," the man says before rubbing their noses together, prompting the redhead to blush and the wolves around to growl. "Come on! Don't be jealous!"
Tanjirou doesn't understand why a pack of eight wolves are gathered around them or why the man carrying him seem to be talking to them like they understand every single word he says.
But he doesn't have the time to figure anything out.
"I have to go, sorry! My brother is sick."
"I'll take you home, Tanjirou," the man winks. "Trust me. It'll be faster. I'm Uzui Tengen, by the way."
"It's a pleasure!" As Uzui begins to run with Tanjirou in his arms, it occurs to him, that he never introduced himself.
How does Uzui know his name?
***
He barely sleeps that night, he helps his mother make a tea with the yellow flower and encourages his little brother to drink it as he hums a lullaby; Tanjirou has never been good at singing, but a soft hum he always can manage.
He only goes back to his room when Rokuta shows signs of getting better and gets a glimpse of something waiting outside through his window. There are nine colorful wolves, although they seem to be calm, just sitting out there. Tanjirou worries for a moment, but when he turns to see again, it seems they're gone. He tells himself he's seeing things because he's tired so he heads back to his futon and immediately falls asleep.
Things go back to normal in the next weeks, although Tanjirou kinda wants return to the cursed forest and thank Uzui and his wolves for saving him. He shakes his head. No, they can't be his wolves; it's ridiculous, besides, those creatures he thought he saw were too big for normal wolves and the colors of their furs... he probably imagined that too.
"You can't go back," Nezuko pleads, looking concerned again. "You were lucky once, but you might not be next time. So please don't."
He doesn't, he goes back to the safe path he had always knew and cuts trees from another area of the forest.
However, fate eventually pulls him back into that place. This time, he follows Hanako's footsteps after Takeo tells Tanjirou she went missing a few minutes ago. They were playing near the cursed forest, even though their mother had told them not to a couple of times.
Tanjirou rushes inside, calling out her name and following her scent; bu there are multiple weird scents in that places, and it's easy for him to get confused.
But then, he sees him; a man with yellow and red hair, holding a scared Hanako in his arms. He gets closer to Tanjirou with a kind and friendly smile on his face.
"She's not hurt, Tanjirou," he assures the redhead before introducing himself as Rengoku Kyojuro.
"Thank you so much!"
"It was my pleasure, my boy!" Rengoku assures him before kissing the back of Tanjirou's hand. "We'll always be here to help you!"
That's the first night he dreams of wolves, but not any wolves, those particular wolves. And in his dreams, they can shape-shift into humans wearing beautiful haoris; they seem like warriors, all of them trying to keep people safe from all the thing that happen in that forest.
But it's just a dream.
"I don't trust them," Nezuko mumbles, after Tanjirou finishes telling her the dream.
"It was a dream," he reminds her gently.
"Dreams sometimes mean something."
"You should trust them," Hanako cuts in then, startling her older siblings. "Trust Rengoku because he saved me and he's in love with Tanjirou."
"He's not," the redhead shakes his head, feeling his cheeks suddenly hot. "Please don't say things like that. You... We barely know him."
"It was so obvious!" She giggles. "The way he looked at you. He couldn't hide it even if he wanted to!"
***
The next time, he meets Iguro Obanai and Kanroji Mitsuri as he's been chased by a man who got angry after Tanjirou pushed him away from his crying wife. It seems the woman left him for his violent nature and he blames Tanjirou for it.
Tanjirou doesn't want to fight him, so he tries to talk him out of it, but he's drunk and full of pain and anger inside his heart.
They rush into the cursed forest, even though Tanjirou tells him they should stop before anything happens, but that's when the man grabs him by the scarf and slams him against a tree. The redhead gets dizzy and confused, but when he regains his strength and manages to rise from the ground, the man is gone.
"It's alright now, darling," a beautiful girl with pink hair assures him.
"He won't bother you again," the man with mismatched eyes next to her says, although the tone of his voice sends shivers through Tanjirou's spine for some reason.
They walk him home and Iguro tells him a couple of things about Kaburamaru, the snake over his shoulders, as Kanroji makes sure Tanjirou doesn't have any serious injuries.
They're good people, he can tell.
***
He dreams of them again... well, just one of them; a woman whom Tanjirou has never seen before.
She wears a beautiful haori with sleeves that look like butterfly wings.
In the dream, she explains to Tanjirou that they all are werewolves and have been keeping an eye on him for a while now.
"We want you to be our mate," Kocho says, smiling hopefully at him. "We have fallen in love with you and we want to be with you forever, Tanjirou. But we can court you first."
Then she says something about a bite; they'll have to bite Tanjirou on the neck if he agrees to be their mate after the courtship, but all those bites will eventually change him. He'll be bound to them and turn into one of them too.
A werewolf.
Tanjirou wakes up a bit tired after that dream, but he tries not to think too much about it because it was obviously just that.
He has heard people talk about forest spirits, demons, and creatures so much that he somehow combined everything and turned it into a vivid dream.
***
A few days later, a young man with dark hair and deep blue eyes runs into him on his way back to the house.
Tomioka takes the empty basket Tanjirou's attached to his back and helps him carry it until they get to his home.
Tanjirou is not sure why he decides to trust him, but he feels safe around him and even though he doesn't talk that much, he certainly likes to listen to Tanjirou speak about his family.
When they're in front of the house, Tomioka gives him back the basket and bows in front of him before cradling his face with both hands and pressing their foreheads together.
Tanjirou can't help but smile at him.
"Thank you, Tomioka-san!"
"I hope to see you soon, Tanjirou."
Then, as he walks into his home and all his siblings greet him, Tanjirou realizes that Tomioka never told him his name.
But he's sure that young man is Tomioka Giyuu for some reason.
Although that's completely crazy. No, he must've introduced himself at some point, right?
Tanjirou just doesn't remember that part at the moment.
***
This is his fault; he doesn't listen to the woman in the village and rushes home instead of staying inside an inn for the night.
But Tanjirou needs to save enough money for his family, and he believes he can make it before the snowstorm falls all over the mountain.
He's completely wrong.
It gets so bad the snow doesn't allow him to see anything far ahead, and Tanjirou gets lost and so cold for a moment his bones start hurting. He knows he can't run, but he shouldn't stop because he'll probably pass out and die right then and there.
Tanjirou wishes he had put more clothes on that morning; those are not enough to keep him warm.
His eyes close for a moment, and he falls on the snow as his vision blurrs and turns black. He wakes up only to see a huge brownish wolf with white eyes looming over him.
Tanjirou thinks he's going to kill him, but something in his chest tells him he's completely safe with him.
He passes out again.
When he manages to wake up a second time, he feels so much better. He's inside a house, lying next to a fireplace and curled up to the wolf on the floor. Tanjirou is using the wolf's back as a pillow; his fur is so soft the redhead is tempted to lie there a bit longer.
But he needs to know what happened.
"Himejima-san?" Tanjirou blinks in confusion at his own words. Why would he know the wolf's name?
As soon as he gets up, the wolf does the same and his body starts shining.
It has to be a dream. Tanjirou is sure of it, especially after he watches the wolf turn into the tallest man he's ever seen. Fortunately, clothes appear over his body too.
"I'm glad you're feeling better, Tanjirou."
After a few seconds, someone else gets in the house; Himejima turns towards the sound and instinctively puts the redhead behind himself.
A very young man with long, dark and light green/blueish hair walks inside and is about to tell Himejima something when his eyes meet Tanjirou's.
Tokito smile turns huge as his eyes glimmer with joy.
"Tanjirou!" He beams, pulling the confused redhead into his arms. "You finally came to pay us a visit!"
"I found him freezing in the forest," Himejima cuts in, prompting Tokito's smile to fade.
As Himejima explains what happened, Tanjirou realizes that he's a bit hurt from when he fell outside, but he shouldn't be able to feel anything because he's dreaming...
Or maybe he's not.
"I need to go back home! My family must be worried!"
"Tanjirou," Himejima kneels in front of him before finding his shoulders and placing gentle, warm hands over them. "I'd do anything you asked me to, but right now there's a snowstorm outside and while my body can endure that kind of weather, yours can't. I don't want to risk your life so please let's wait here until the storm ends."
Tanjirou nods, knowing he's right. He also has the feeling that he only wants to protect and take care of him, which is weird because they just met... right?
"I'll tell the others!" Tokito says before rushing towards the entrance, Tanjirou doesn't have the time to stop him.
"He'll be fine. He's a werewolf like me."
Werewolves. Those people are werewolves and somehow Tanjirou is not dreaming.
***
They all are here. The people he's met, in reality and in dreams; they all rush towards him with worry and fuss over him like their hearts would break if something ever happened to him.
Something inside Tanjirou's chest clicks like a missing piece of a puzzle; he has the feeling that he's known all those people for a while, for a long time actually and that he loves them very much.
Even the wild one; the man with scars all over his chest, white hair and slightly terrifying expression, he's frowning at Tanjirou like he's mad, but the redhead feels perfectly safe around him, even though his brain tells him he hasn't seen him before.
"What were you thinking being outside during a snowstorm?" Shinazugawa growls, taking a few steps towards the redhead.
"Sanemi, stop," Kocho scolds him. "The important thing is that he's safe."
"YOU COULD'VE DIED!" Shinazugawa ignores her, still glaring at Tanjirou. "You're weak and fucking fragile and you haven't turned yet..."
The human is not afraid because he feels like he's know him his whole life and he knows this is how Shinazugawa expresses his concern. He is afraid... he doesn't want anything to happen to Tanjirou.
"I'm sorry, I'll be more careful next time."
Shinazugawa's expression changes to something more vulnerable then before he pulls Tanjirou into his arms. Then, as the others take turns to hug him too, he makes a tea for the human.
They sit in a circle close to the fireplace; Tanjirou looks at their faces, at Kyojuro's white, sharp teeth when he laughs, at Shinobu's smile and the signs that it's a genuine one, at the way Obanai sometimes leans closer to Mitsuri, but keeps staring at him like Tanjirou's precious to him too, at Muichiro's evident affection, at Giyuu's shy yet very expressive eyes, at Tengen's smirk and the way it changes into something more soft when Tanjirou's eyes meet his, at Mitsuri's insistence on sharing her favorite food with him, at Sanemi's obvious concern that often turns into overprotective mode, and at the way Gyomei keeps turning towards where Tanjirou's voice is.
His soul knows them, it has known them for a while. He feels safe and happy with them.
This is home too.
"Tanjirou, why are you crying? Are you alright?" Suddenly, Kyojuro is in front of him, wiping his tears away.
"I'm f-fine," he stammers, smiling at all the concerned faces in front of him. It feels so good to be so loved. "I just... I feel like I know you already, like I always have. It's a bit overwhelming."
"Of course you know us, darling!" Mitsuri beams. "You're our destined mate!"
"I know it's a lot to take in right now, Tanjirou," Giyuu cuts in, taking one of his hands. "But we can explain everything to you as many times as you need. The most important thing you need to know at the moment is that we love you, we truly do."
Tanjirou blushes to the tip of his ears, feeling like he does love them too, but he doesn't want to rush anything, so he just nods.
"Would you let us court you?" Tengen asks, smiling softly.
"Yes, I'd like that."
"It looks like the storm is finally over now," Sanemi comments, prompting Muichiro to pout. "We can take you to your family's home now. But we'll see you tomorrow for your first gift."
"Alright!"
They ask for a forehead kiss before going out, so Tanjirou gladly gives them one to each of them.
He has a lot of things to tell his family.

Not as extreme as it sounds like that womanâs case was. My dad was attacked by a bear while out running 10 years ago. I was out of state at college at the time, so I found out about it via phone calls. and I donât bring it up much because, well. My dad was attacked by a bear sounds really fake to drop casually in just about any conversation.
He was out trail running, rounded a corner. There were two bear cubs on the trail, and it was too close to slow down in time. Mama bear understandably saw him running at them and assumed he was going to hurt the cubs. So she attacked, until she was certain he wasnât a threat to them anymore. He managed to hike back out of the canyon and flag down a car to take him to the hospital. (He said one of the most annoying parts was facebook comments on the news article afterwards about how heâd âresponded wrongâ and everyone knows youâre supposed to do x in case of a bear attack. The actual thing happened far to fast to respond.)
Itâs the start of sophomore year, Iâm walking to my dorm after marathoning anime with my then boyfriend at 10pm. I get a phone call, âyour dad is in the hospital, he was attacked by a bear.â I distinctly remember sitting on the cold sidewalk in shock for⊠quite awhile. I get texted pictures of the injuries, and updates throughout the days/weeks after. Then boyfriend was upset about how distant I was at the time when I needed space to process it all.
Dad was ok, though it was a stressful few months after it happened because I couldnât go back home. And of course more stressful for my parents. I dont remember the exact number of stitches but it was more than 60? Puncture wound through his hand, lacerations to the head and chest. And heâs got some pretty good scars to show for it. He still goes trail running, but with bear bells and bear spray now.
Back to the insurance side of it. He had to be helicoptered out from our smallish town/city hospital to the big city hospital with specialists for obvious reasons. It would be about a 2 hour drive away. Insurance fought my parents on just about all the treatments because that put the doctor and everything âout of networkâ. You donât stop and check âin networkâ for emergency care like that.
Over a year after the incident, they were still fighting to get coverage for the rabies shots heâd gotten in particular. The insurance company tried to argue that he should have waited on the rabies shots, or gotten it from an approved doctor, or maybe it wasnât necessary at all. After a bear attack. And yeah, we can agree that mama bear probably wasnât rabid given the circumstances. But the doctors were still right in giving him the shots, you donât fuck with rabies. By the time they were âcertainâ it would have been too late.
They were still fighting over the thousands of dollars of that series of rabies shots by the time Iâd left that college. And itâs hard to think of a more extreme and medically necessary case than that.
Did a quick search on rabies shots costs because I doubted my memory here. This is what came up. âThe rabies vaccine for humans costs $2,500 to $7,000 for the full 4-dose protocol and human rabies immune globulin (HRIG). Because rabies is almost always fatal if untreated, this life-saving vaccine is necessary if you've been exposed to a rabid or potentially infected animal.â https://bettercare.com/costs/rabies-vaccine-cost-for-humans https://www.npr.org/2022/04/09/1091797594/the-capitol-fox-fascinated-folks-but-no-one-mentioned-the-cost-of-rabies-treatme
And this was all with âgoodâ government job insurance. So dealing with other companies would likely have been even worse.
Health insurance is not a provider. It is a denier.

Love Bite âËđ©žâ đąđđĄđđąđâđđđđ
yandere!vampires x f!reader
yandere, reverse harem, original characters, vampire!ocs x fem!reader
Desperate for money to pay off your debts, you sign up for a program that allows you to sell your blood to vampires. At first, everything is fine, and youâre finally able to make ends meet. But they soon begin craving more than just your blood.
previous | story masterlist | next
It doesnât hurt as much anymore. Â
You let out a quiet sigh and lean your head further back. As always, Xavier is holding you close while he drinks your blood. You can feel his lips gently sucking on the surface of your skin, and thereâs the dull discomfort of his fangs being lodged in your neck, but the pain is unmistakably less intense than before. Youâre not sure if itâs because youâre starting to become a bit more accustomed to this whole thing, or if Xavier really is making an effort to be as gentle as possible, but either way, itâs far more manageable now.Â
He even pulls away from time to time, just to make sure that youâre doing alright. Â
âStill okay?â he affirms. Â
You nod. âIâm fine, thank you. You can keep going until youâve taken the usual amount.â Â
Xavier pauses for a moment, and he doesnât smile, not quite, but thereâs a subtle warmth that fills his gaze, and for some reason, it puts you at ease. Â
Yeah. This is what vampires should be like. That asshole Felix could really take a page out of Xavierâs book. Â
You sit there for a while longer, waiting for Xavier to be done. You havenât been feeling too lightheaded these days, so you figure the supplements youâve been taking must have helped somewhat. So long as you donât run into any other clients like Felix, who drink far more blood than the allotted amount, youâll probably be fine. Â
Xavier eventually pulls back for good, making sure to wipe his blood-stained lips with a napkin. You can appreciate how put-together he is, because seeing someone with your blood smeared across their face will never be a pretty sight. Although you suppose thatâs another thing youâre slowly getting used to. Â
âHow are you feeling?â Xavier asks. Â
âIâm good,â you reassure. âDonât worry. If something was off, or if I was feeling unwell, I would make sure to let you know. Iâm not reckless with my health.â Â
Ha. Okay, that was a bit of a lie, considering you just landed yourself in the hospital not long ago, but in your defense, that wasnât entirely your fault. Â
Xavier seems relieved to know that youâre feeling alright, and normally, this is the part where he would get up to leave, but today, he opts to stay seated for longer. Â
After a few moments of silent deliberation, he works up the nerve to ask:Â Â
âDo you have any other clients besides me?â Â
The question catches you off guard. For one thing, he doesnât normally engage you in conversation, other than occasionally checking in to make sure youâre not feeling sick. Unless youâre mistaken, itâs the first time heâs asked you anything remotely resembling a personal question, even if it was simple intrigue on his part. Â
Before you can respond, Xavier scrunches his brows together. âUm. Actually, forget what I just said. You donât need to answer that. Now that Iâve stopped to think about it, itâs not really any of my business, and it was perhaps a bit inappropriate to ask.â Â
He looks rather flustered all of a sudden, which amuses you, because heâs normally stoic and poisedâalmost to a fault. Â
Well. In any case, you suppose you have nothing to hide. Â
âI did have another client,â you admit. âBut I had to drop him because he was making me uncomfortable. So, right now, youâre the only one Iâm meeting with.â Â
Xavier frowns. âIâm sorry to hear that. This arrangement only works if the client and donor respect one another, so itâs unfortunate that you had to have such an unpleasant experience.â After a brief pause, his eyes widen in concern. âIâm... not making you feel the same way, am I? Because if so, I urge you to be honest with me. The last thing I want is to upset you.â Â
âThat isnât the case at all,â you assure him. âI enjoy meeting with you, Xavier. Youâve even gone to the trouble to make sure it doesnât hurt me so much anymore, and I really appreciate it.â Â
Unless youâre imagining it, he looks a bit pleased all of a sudden. Then again, itâs a bit hard to tell with him, since his expression reverts to a neutral state almost immediately. Â
With your session having come to an end, he finally stands up to leave, but once again, he doesnât walk out of the room right away. Â
Instead, he glances back at you, looking a touch hesitant. Â
âHave... a nice day,â he eventually settles upon. It comes out sounding a bit awkward, because quite frankly, heâs a bit awkward, but itâs the thought that counts, and you canât help but smile.Â
âThanks!â you beam. âI hope you have a nice day as well.â Â
This time, he actually leaves, swapping places with the doctor that comes in to examine you after every session. The doctor pulls the door shut to conduct the examination in private, but right before it closes, Xavier steals one last glance your way. Â
You donât see it, but thereâs a smile on his lips.Â
âThanks for agreeing to come with me, [Name]! Iâm so glad we finally have the chance to hang out like this.â Â
Youâre walking down the street with Caleb, having just finished washing dishes for several hours straight. He invited you to go someplace with him after your shifts were over, and usually, youâre so tired that you head straight home, or you book it to your other part-time job depending on what your scheduleâs like, but for once, you finally have some free time. Â
You wouldnât normally have taken him up on his offer. Quite frankly, youâre usually way too fucking tired, and you donât often have the time to spare. But ever since Caleb called you his friend, youâve been trying to open up to him more. Life is one hell of a shitshow, at least for you, but friends are supposed to make it a bit more bearable. Theyâre supposed to help you smile and laugh, and find joy in the little things. Â
Besides, Caleb is clearly a nice guy. Heâs the kind of guy anyone would want as their friend. Heâs one of the few good things that ever happened to you, and youâve decided youâll do everything you can to keep him around.Â
âThanks for inviting me,â you say, offering a brief smile. âIâm probably not that fun to be around since I just work all the time, but Iâll do my best not to bore you.â Â
Caleb blinks repeatedly. âWhat? Thereâs no way you could ever bore me! I always have fun when Iâm with you. Whenever I find out we have a shift together, I always get super pumped!â Â
He flashes you a huge grin for added emphasis, and you giggle, very much amused by his golden retriever-type personality. Â
As it turns out, the place Caleb wanted to bring you to is an arcade. Youâve never been anywhere like this before. Even as a child, your parents never took you. Well, you grew up poor, after all, and they were usually either gambling away whatever money they had or spending it on drugs and alcohol. Taking care of their daughter wasnât exactly at the top of their priority list. Â
You suppose thereâs no point in lamenting the past, though. Thereâs no need to waste your time thinking about the selfish assholes who abandoned you, and besides, all that matters is that Caleb brought you here. Youâd like to try enjoying the moment as best you can. Â
Caleb leads you inside and buys enough tokens for the both of you. He insists that itâs the least he can do, since heâs the one that invited you out, and he reassures you that it isnât that expensive either. Part of you feels guilty about not contributing, but the other part of you is secretly relieved that he offered to pay. Â
He gives you a quick run-down of the place and shows you some of his favorite machines. He must come here pretty often, by the sounds of it. You can sort of understand why, though. The arcade is loud, equipped with colorful, vibrant lights, and everyone is clearly having a great time. You spot friends laughing as they beat each other at the games, parents that are cheering their children on, and even some people that have come alone, but are still enjoying themselves.Â
âLook!â Caleb beams. âThey have Mario Kart. Do you like Mario Kart?â Â
âIâve never played it before,â you admit. Â
âWhat?! Seriously?â Â
His eyes bulge out of his head, as if the very notion of such a thing is beyond his comprehension. You chuckle softly in response. Again, you grew up in poverty and had a remarkably shitty childhood, so... yeah. Video games werenât really your biggest concern. Â
âIâll teach you how to play,â Caleb offers. He gently grabs your hand and leads you towards the machine. âItâs really simple, but itâs fun. Well, for the most part. It can also get kind of frustrating when people keep spamming shells at you.â Â
You bite back a grin. You never expected him to be so passionate about video games. Itâs kind of cute. Â
To no oneâs surprise, youâre not very good at Mario Kart. Or any of the other arcade games, for that matter. Your lack of experience is woefully apparent, and you may as well be an overgrown toddler, with how you keep clumsily mashing buttons all over the place. Â
âI kind of suck at this,â you remark aloud. Â
Caleb laughs. âItâs okay. People come here to play for fun. No oneâs keeping track of how well youâre doing.â Â
âBut youâve been winning so many more tickets than me.â Â
âWell, thatâs because I donât suck,â he muses, winking at you. Â
You huff. What a little show-off. Fine, then. Youâll take him up on his challenge. Practice makes perfect, after all. Besides, with all these different machines, youâre bound to find at least one game that youâre better than him at. Right? Â
Wrong. Â
âOh my god!â you fume. âIâm tired of losing! Can't you go a bit easier on me?â Â
Caleb clamps a palm over his mouth, clearly stifling the urge to laugh, although heâs not doing a very good job of it. âTh-That wouldnât be fair to you,â he chuckles. âWould you be satisfied with a win if I just hand it to you?â Â
âAt this point, yes!â Â
He fully laughs out loud this time. Meanwhile, you roll your eyes in frustration. Arcades are fun. They are fun, but still. You never imagined you would suck this bad. Â
âCome on,â Caleb gestures. Heâs composed himself and is back to smiling gently. âThere are still a few machines we havenât tried yet. Donât give up hope. Iâve got a good feeling youâll pull through in the end.âÂ
You cross your arms and stick up your nose, pretending to snub him. He doesnât seem to mind. If anything, it just makes his smile widen, and his cheeks flush a beautifully pink shade. He doesnât say it so that you donât think heâs making fun of you, but youâre ridiculously adorable right now. Â
You stop in front of a new machine. Itâs some type of arcade fighting game, the kind where you have to pull off combos to win. You highly doubt youâll stand a chance against someone as skilled as Caleb, but maybe youâll get lucky by button-mashing enough. Or at the very least, youâll be satisfied with not having him wipe the floor with you. Â
But you suppose youâll never find out, because someone decides to rudely cut in. Â
âMove,â a deep, impatient voice mutters. âI was here first.â Â
Thereâs a young man leaning against the side of the machine. You didnât notice him at first because he was so quiet, but it looks like he also wants to play this game. Â
âOh. Sorry,â you mumble. âGo ahead. Weâll wait until youâre done.â Â
He doesnât say anything. He doesnât even nod in response. He just positions himself in front of the machine, then reaches down to load a few tokens in. Â
But then, Caleb steps in front of him.Â
âCome on, man,â he frowns. âWe clearly got here before you. Youâre just trying to cut ahead. We wonât be long, so can you just let us have this?â Â
The manâs eyes narrow. âWhat the fuck? I was the one who got here first. You were just too blind to notice me.â Â
âI donât think so. It kind of sounds like youâre making things up.â Â
âCaleb, itâs fine,â you insist, grabbing him by the hand and trying to pull him away. Heâs probably right about the fact that the two of you beat the other guy to it, but arguing with him doesnât seem worth the hassle. Â
Caleb smiles reassuringly. âItâs okay. Iâm not trying to pick a fight, but I just think people need to respect others and wait their turn. I promise we wonât take too long. Iâll probably beat [Name] right away.â Â
âHey!â you protest. Â
He chuckles and pats your head, to which you ball up your fists and shake them in his face. Youâre too immersed in your banter to realize that the other man is dead silent now, and his expression is darkening faster by the second. Â
âIâm using this machine,â he mutters. âSo, fuck off and get out of my way.âÂ
Caleb stops patting your head, and just like that, his smile drops.Â
Heâs glaring now. Â
âDude,â he scowls. âI was trying to be polite here. I donât know why youâre getting so hostile, but weâre all grown-ups here. Letâs not do this. Itâs clear that youâre not going to budge, so fine, you can use the machine first. But for the record, talking to people like that really isnât coolââ Â
He doesnât get to finish his sentence. You canât even process whatâs happening in time. It all happens so fast. Â
One second, Caleb is perfectly fine, but when you blink, heâs lying on the ground with a bloody nose. Â
The man towers over Calebâs fallen body. Thereâs blood on his knuckles, but instead of wiping it off, he brings it to his lips and swipes his tongue over the crimson fluid. You shrink back in horror, and suddenly, it makes sense why he was able to knock Caleb out so easily. Â
âTastes like ass,â the vampire grimaces. âProbably âcause of your shit personality. This is the problem with this fucking city. Dumbass humans think they can get away with disrespecting us.â Â
The arcade is deathly silent now. Everyone has turned towards the source of the commotion, and rather than calling him out for his act of violence, they all shrink away out of fear. Theyâre clearly worried that if they so much as breathe wrong, heâll come after them next. Â
And honestly? You canât blame them. Â
Because youâre scared shitless too. Â
âRuined my fucking night,â the vampire hisses. He kicks the machine, and if it wasnât screwed into the ground, you get the sense that it would have flown backwards and shattered into pieces. Â
He shoves his hands in his pockets and walks off. Everyone steps aside in a hurry, desperate to stay out of his way. That was a public assault, and the police will probably have to be called, but the vampire doesnât seem the slightest bit concerned. Almost as if heâs used to getting away with this kind of thing. Â
Your muscles donât unclench until youâve affirmed that heâs left the arcade, and the moment he does, you drop to your knees and cry out. Â
âCaleb! Are you alright?!â Â
Itâs rather ironic. Not long ago, he was the one in this position, fretting over your unconscious body when you blacked out at work. It doesnât look like heâs unconscious, thankfully, but his nose is almost certainly broken, and you can only imagine how much pain heâs inâon top of being incredibly scared. Â
âI-Iâm fine,â he winces, slowly sitting up. âShit... I wasnât expecting... him to hit me.â Â
You wrap your arm around his shoulders and swallow nervously. He wouldnât have gotten hurt if you hadnât come to the arcade with him. The one time you decide to let loose and do something fun, and it ends like this. Â
âSomeone needs to call the police,â you insist, addressing the crowd. âWhat just happened is a serious crime. He broke my friendâs nose!â Â
Caleb keeps trying to reassure you that heâs going to be okay, but youâre not having it. Vampires are naturally stronger than humans, which means itâs their responsibility to hold back and exert restraint. They canât just go around doing shit like this. Itâs beyond fucked up. Â
And yet, the longer you stare at the crowd, the more you start to realize that somethingâs not right. Â
A man clears his throat. âUh... you donât know who that is, do you?â Â
âHuh? What are you talking about?â Â
âThat vampire. He comes here pretty often, and a lot of us regulars know to keep our distance and avoid him.â Â
So? What are they trying to say? Just because heâs known for being an asshole doesnât mean that they should let this slide. If anything, itâs all the more reason to make him own up for what heâs done. Â
âHe attacked my friend,â you grimace. âFor no reason.â Â
âYeah. I know, and it sucks. A lot of my friends have stopped coming to this arcade because of him. Because heâs such a loose cannon. But unfortunately, thereâs nothing you can do about it. Heâs untouchable.â Â
You narrow your eyes, still not understanding what the fuck heâs on about. Â
âThatâs Kai,â the man finally says. âAnd... heâs the Police Commissionerâs adopted son.â Â
Oh. Â
You blink repeatedly. Â
Oh. Â
"Well, shit,â you mutter.

An empty stage, save for a single microphone conveniently placed center stage. Enter stage left, one Han Jisung. âCollege fucking sucks,â he says into the mic.
The result is a resounding agreement, applause echoing through the room. People have even started throwing flowers towards the stage (and various other items that shall remain unnamed). The aforementioned Han Jisung has never felt more seen and accomplished, this shall go down as the greatest moment in his otherwise bland, unimportant life. That is until he hears a faint booing from somewhere in the third row.
Kim Motherfucking Seungmin
Or at least, this is how it wouldâve played out in said Han Jisungâs head if this situation happened. In hindsight, he realizes that might be the wrong person to play the role of his daydream arch nemesis given that Kim Seungmin usually cannot be bothered to give two shits about most things, and definitely wouldnât attend a speech given by Jisung even if just to be a general disturbance. Changbin on the other hand, the man who lives to give Jisung the younger brother treatment and constant humiliation? Now that might be just a slight bit more realistic.
Take right now for example. Fall registration, the worst part of the year for any underclassman who wants a sliver of a chance at classes that will prove themselves useful for their degree. Chan and Changbin, two upperclassmen who have taken it upon themselves to âadoptâ Jisung in a sense after he was able to squeeze himself into an actually useful lower-division music production class the other two had also enrolled in last semester, filled their schedules hours ago and were able to find classes that might one day provide them with their degrees. The rest of the day proceeds as follows:
The three rented a studio space for the day to begin recording for their last final project of the year knowing that they would each have to halt the process for their brief window of an enrollment period. Going into their senior and junior year respectively, in addition to their overachiever tendencies providing them extra course credits, Chan and Changbin had prime enrollment times earlier in the morning while Jisung had to wait until the late afternoon before he could even think of opening his laptop and checking his schedule.
After hours of anxious leg shaking and tense recording sessions, Jisung found himself in front of his laptop, refreshing the page as soon as it loaded until the buttons lit up that let him enroll in his courses. As soon as his enrollment window opened, a scream that could be heard across campus regardless of the soundproof recording booth was let out.
âWaitlist? Fucking bullshit is what it is.â Jisung muttered as he found himself able to enroll in only one of the five classes he had planned on for the next semester. Tens of thousands in yearly tuition payments and he canât even get a fucking degree? Absurd.
Luckily his friends had taught him how to make backup schedules because surely thereâs no way everything he wanted to take was full, itâs not like there are that many people on this campus. Right?
Wrong. After a grand total of six separate schedules and 16 courses Jisung was even considering taking (including those horrific STEM classes the school wanted him to take to graduate thank you very much) only two other classes had spots, neither of which fell under his major. At this rate, he wasnât even going to be allowed to come back to campus with how barren his schedule looked.
âChat, I fear we might be cooked here,â Jisung said to no one in particular. Well, actually thatâs a lie, as there are two other people in the room with Jisung, and he would very much so like them to bestow upon him their worldly advice.
âJisung, as funny as I might find this, which mind you is incredibly hilarious, you do need to find another class to fill your schedule,â Changbin responded. As objectively right as he is, Jisung hopes all of his classes get canceled so he can feel a fraction of the stress heâs currently under.
âHave you considered sorting by classes with available spots? You might as well just take what you can get before youâre stuck with waitlists longer than the class size.â Chan adds. Heâs never wronged Jisung before and heâs already under enough stress, so he can have a slightly better fate. Maybe only a class or two was canceled, or a waitlist heâll never get off of.
In all honesty, Jisung wouldn't wish his fate upon anyone, not even Kim Seungmin. Now that heâs been brought up within the confines of Jisungâs mind palace, he wonders how enrollment went for his roommate. Probably significantly better considering he took six classes a semester his first year and the classes for his major have 200 spots compared to Jisungâs 25 spot music classes. Jisung briefly considers swapping his major to computer science, as studying classics like Seungmin is quite frankly too pretentious for him, but quickly remembers how poorly that would go for him as he had to drop his course on the subject last fall before he failed it. Surely he shouldâve gotten some good karma from the computer science major he got off the comically large waitlist. Wait, that's not the point here, enrollment closes in five minutes and Jisung still doesnât have a fourth class.
âThatâs it, Iâm sorting by classes with available spots and just clicking on one. As long as it doesnât stop me to tell me my schedule conflicts it literally cannot be worse.â Jisung announces to the room. Itâs not like a university campus has classes so useless this backfires on him.
âYou sure about that one? I mean you could at least try to find something that fulfills a graduation requirement. I'm sure something still has space.â Jisung hears Chan ask in the background. He pays no mind to this warning and instead clicks on a random class that pops up with available spots.
âThereâs no way you seriously just signed yourself up for a two-hour 8 am every Monday and Wednesday. I donât even care what that class is, youâve just screwed yourself beyond belief here kid.â Changbin says, cut off only by his laughter. Jisung doesnât really find this situation humorous, but to each their own he supposes.
With that, the enrollment window closes and all Jisung is left with is 4 class codes and the worst schedule of his college years. How can someone end up with an 8 am every day of the week but also an 8 pm? Jisung closes the tab his schedule is on, refusing to believe this is something that actually happened to him. Before doing so, he noticed a class code under one of his 8 am classes that wasnât on his schedule before, CDM101, clearly the class he signed up for randomly. Surely it canât be that hard, itâs an introductory course, and the only classes he can think of that start with C are communications and chemistry, and anything under the latter is definitely full already.
The topic of registration is nothing but a stray thought in the back of Jisungâs mind, batted away like a cat toy. Heâs enrolled in four classes, he wonât be kicked out of school, and at least something there will be going towards his degree. As the three begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel on their final project, they quickly wrap up their recording and agree to finish editing on their own and grab dinner instead as they have very little left. Three burnt-out college students versus a single final project for their music production class, who will win? Let the records state that although it was a concerningly close fight, the students did in fact win, and they all walked away with an A on their transcript.
As the three boys leave the restaurant, significantly more optimistic than they were walking into the studio (save for one Han Jisung), a lull in the conversation occurs and Chan just canât seem to help himself because he immediately turns to Jisung and asks, âAre you sure youâll be okay in your classes? You can always just talk to an advisor, thatâs literally what theyâre paid to do. We both know you donât do well with mornings and I donât want to see your grades slip just because you didnât want to get up to go to class.â
Chan truly is nothing if not a worrying mother at heart. Jisung would find it endearing if it wasnât contributing to his already soured mood over his classes. Yes his schedule sucks, and yes he will be immediately calling his parents once he gets back to his dorm to cry about it, but nobody needs to know that, especially his friends.
âWhile I appreciate the concern, it was truly never that deep, Iâll be fine,â Jisung responds, before fully turning to Chan to add on, âand everyone knows advisors are actually paid to be a pain in your ass and make sure you enroll in even less than if you just did it yourself.â
Yes, Jisung might be a little frustrated with his schedule, but heâs dealt with worse classes. Like that computer science class, but at least he could drop that one. So he signed up for a communications class, big fucking deal. Heâll just show up to the first lecture, find out if attendance is mandatory, and never show up again if itâs not. Communications classes are easy, he knows how to talk to people, and surely thatâs what he signed up for, right?
Right?
ââââââ------------------------
Wrong.
Again, seriously? Jisung wonders how many times heâll be wrong before he gets something right because itâs apparently more than two. Well, itâs a lot more than two given his track record but thatâs not important right now. Whatâs important is that Jisung needs to find his classes, starting with his Monday 8 am communications class. He left his dorm around 7:30 this morning, as he was positive this was all the time he needed to reach the mystery class, and right he was. Gold star for Jisung everybody! He should throw a party, maybe even invite his new communications professor.
Now Jisung knows some friends of friends who have taken a communications class or two for an easy A, so he knows the building this class is in is definitely not the communications building. Heâs almost positive that the building in question is on the other side of campus, not two buildings away from the music building over by where the art classes are held. He also knows that classes tend to stick within the building of their department as to avoid confusion. So the question remains: What the fuck did Jisung sign up for last spring?
A dance class. A fucking contemporary dance class. It couldnât have just been a communications class, a history of dance class, or even any other style of dance. It just had to be something that requires a genuine understanding of movement and a body with the capacity to do things no human should be able to do. It should be, in theory, or at least according to the syllabus and Han Jisungâs limited knowledge of the dance department, an easy A just like it wouldâve been if he actually signed up for a communications class. However, thereâs one bright, shining error in his brilliant plan to get an A.
Mandatory Attendance.
âShowing up is half the battle my ass,â Jisung mutters as he reviews the syllabus the professor had been handing out at the door. He hopes she didnât hear him as that could possibly win for the worst first impression of Jisungâs college career.
Yes the final for this class is a paper, and yes he has maybe three homework assignments the entire quarter; but seriously, how hard is it to make a syllabus where attendance isnât 50% of your final grade? At least in other mandatory attendance classes, the portion of your grade that attendance counts for tends to be insignificant enough that you could still get an A while missing a good portion of lectures so long as you did well on the exams. Jisung begins weighing the possibility of dropping out of college entirely and living off of Changbinâs trust fund when the door closes, signifying what is usually the beginning of class, but who fucking knows at this point, this is uncharted territory here.
âWelcome to beginning contemporary dance, Iâll be your professor for this semester.â A voice cuts through Jisungâs pessimistic stream of consciousness, âAs stated in the syllabus, you will have a teaching assistant who will be attending class alongside you. Unfortunately, he couldnât attend class today due to a conflict in scheduling within the department, but know that you have much to learn from himâ
The professor continues to drone on about how despite the class being made for beginners, she expects effort and attention from all students regardless of their dance background, or lack thereof (definitely a pointed comment thank you very much); and then a few other things regarding the attendance policies and grading structure. Jisung, however, is paying shit attention to this little speech and hasnât been since the professor mentioned a teaching assistant. He? Now donât get it twisted, Jisung is in no position to be prejudiced. In fact, itâll be great to have some boy doing spins around him for two hours at a time. Jisungâs never been able to focus too well in class without something to look at, so surely this will motivate him to show up at 8 am twice a week for the next 18 weeks. On second thought, it probably wonât, but it doesnât hurt to hope.
Jisungâs thoughts are once again interrupted by the professor, this time addressing him directly. âSorry, could you repeat that?â He asks, trying (and failing) to make himself not look like the biggest idiot on the planet.
âWeâre doing introductions. Just tell the class your name, year, major, and a fun fact. Nothing too difficult, that comes later of course.â the professor tells him, adding a seemingly ominous wink to the end of her sentence.
Well, thatâs easy, the same shit you do in every class, surely this sentiment will remain similar for the remainder of the semester. Jisung thinks for a second before responding with, âHi everyone, Iâm Jisung, Iâm a second-year music major, and Iâve never danced before nor wanted to in my entire life.â
âThank you for participating Jisung, and I sincerely hope this class can change your views on dance.â With the passive-aggressive comment from his professor out of the way, Jisung resumes his stream of consciousness. Todayâs class seems to be largely focused on getting to know each other, which he does so on autopilot, listening but never taking in the words of his peers.
For once, the universe decided to work in Jisungâs favor, and class got out early, meaning he had an extra hour to spend before his 8 pm lecture that night that he didnât really need but still liked having regardless. He found himself at the campus coffee shop he frequented his freshman year in the hopes of finishing those pesky homework assignments he was supposed to do before classes started. Say what you want, but summer homework is egregious and should be banned regardless of the subject. At long last, it was 8 pm, and time for a class that Jisung actually gave a fuck about, his sole music-related class; which turned out to be a history class? Look, registration was rough, and if he needs it to graduate, then by god Jisung is going to get that snoozefest done.
Luckily the class is one he shares with his friends, so really it could have been worse. You know, like the rest of his schedule. Once he reached the classroom, he noticed Chan and Changbin waving him over, having saved him a seat. Jisung knew what they wanted to hear, and briefly yet seriously contemplated running the other direction and taking the inevitable hit to his grade that ditching class would leave him with. Despite all this, he moves to sit between his friends, anticipating the immediate badgering and questioning, but not quite moving to deflect. Look, he just needs to complain, like seriously who makes an 8 am mandatory â attendance being half your grade at that? He pauses for a second and proceeds to voice this thought to his peers.
âYou mean to tell me youâve somehow found an introductory communications class at 8 am that lasts two hours, mind you, thatâs completely mandatory and worth half your grade just to show up?â Changbin explains, looking a little too enthused by Jisungâs suffering.
âNah dude, thatâs the worst part, itâs not even a communications class,â Jisung responds. âItâs a fucking dance class. I have to participate and shit, canât even slack off in the corner of a lecture hall.â
âYou know, most people go to class to learn,â Chan adds. âIt only makes sense that would be applied to more practical classes.â Curse him and his realistic worldview, and sue Jisung for using lectures to online shop and play 2048, itâs not like they arenât recorded and uploaded anyway.
Upon giving his two cents, which are somehow worth more than most peopleâs despite still being two cents, Chan looks away to pay attention to the lecture. Jisung canât help but thank him in his head. Not because heâs no longer grilling him, but because he knows Changbin wonât let up and neither of them will take a single note tonight.
âSo what do you even do in that class? With your two left feet, I canât foresee anything about this going well.â Changbin leans over to whisper.
âBro, why are you acting like I know? All I remember from whatever that class was is that some dude is gonna come in and TA for us.â Jisung thinks for a second and adds, âIâll probably just make friends with him and hope he can save my grade.â
âYour TAs a guy?â
âYeah dude, didnât realize you of all people would take offense to that. Isnât your boyfriend literally a dance major?â
âNot where I was going with that dumbass. Was just gonna say I know a guy whoâs TAing a dance class this semester.â
âAnd you didnât think to tell me?â
âSays the one who didnât even know he was in a dance class until this morning.â
âWhatever dude, so what should I know about this mysterious TA guy? The prof kept hyping him up and shit, no way heâs that good?â
âI'm not telling you shit with that attitude,â Changbin says, finishing their gossip session before it could start. âPay attention, according to what I just heard you need to if you want to pass any of your classes this semester.â
With that, Jisung turned back to the professor at the front of the room. Paying attention in a class where all of the lecture videos get sent to him is pointless, Jisung thinks as he opens 2048 on his computer, a game already in progress.
Tuesday went by in a blur, two general education classes Jisung will be doing the bare minimum for because no hiring manager in the history of ever is going to give a single shit that someone working in music production got a C- in their genetics class they were forced to take sophomore year. It was once Wednesday hit the semester began to immediately worsen, which Jisung didnât even think was possible. Look, the 8 am classes every day are really starting to get to him, especially when paired with a class twelve hours later.
So he overslept and missed his dance class, no biggie, surely thereâs a policy that says he can miss a few classes right? Every class has those, itâs like a fail-safe for when overworked college students inevitably find themselves too sick (or lazy, as seen here) so Jisung will be fine.
Or not. Seriously, one excused absence for an entire semester? Thatâs a little absurd, even for a dance class. Oh well, heâll just have to go to all of the classes in the future if he wants a good grade. Better hope he doesnât find himself catching every disease ever like all college kids do in the fall.
Thursday followed as per the Tuesday schedule, and Friday was empty save for a morning discussion class Jisung would rather dunk his socks in cereal and suck the milk out of than attend despite participation being a significant enough portion of his grade. Aside from the utter failure that has been trying to attend his dance class, Jisung was sure he could turn the semester around and make it into something bearable. Make lemons out of lemonade or whatever old people say when they donât want you to believe itâs okay to be frustrated.
ââââââ------------------------
Surely after the disaster that was trying to get to all of his classes last week, Jisung could bring himself to attend his 8ams, and attend his 8ams he did. Walking into the dance building at 7:55 am (see Changbin, not that hard) Jisung noticed a boy about his age approaching him. He takes a moment to think back to last week, trying to recall a face, name, or anything to help him remember this boy who clearly knows him. His strikingly blonde hair and round features allowed him to stand out amongst the crowd, and surely Jisung would remember meeting someone as unique as him. He comes up with nothing, and takes the last few seconds to pray that they donât actually know each other and he isnât about to severely offend someone.
âWhere were you on Wednesday?â the boy asks, âIt kinda sucks being the only guy in this class, well except for the TA I guess.â
âIâm really sorry but, do we know each other?â Jisung responds with the only thing heâs thinking at this moment. âI donât mean to offend you, I just do not remember a thing from the first class and I feel like Iâd remember meeting you.â
âWell not yet I suppose, but thatâs what this is for. Lee Felix, a second-year dance major.â The boy, Felix as he now knows, reaches his hand out, presumably for a handshake.
âHan Jisung, second-year music major. If you donât mind me asking, why are you in a class for beginners if this is what your degree is in?â Jisung worries heâs pried a bit too much for a first-time conversation, but he really doesnât understand why someone who loves dance enough to major in it is in a class with the likes of him.
âDonât worry, people already questioned me about it last week, Iâll give you the run down since you werenât there. Iâm auditing the class, which means I kinda just show up when I feel like it and donât worry about a grade.â
âDude I wish that was me. I signed up for this class by chance after I was under the credit limit.â
âSeriously? I hate to break it to you, but youâre really in for something different if you signed up by accident. I mean, just wait until you meet the TA, heâs really gonna have it out for you if he ever hears that.â
âThe TA? Donât worry man I have that covered. All I gotta do is play nice and make friends, and heâll help me get an A, right?â
âWrong.â The second Jisung hears this from Felix, all he can do is put a little tally next to the chart on his brain whiteboard next to âwrongsâ. The ârightsâ side is regrettably empty save for when he made it to class on time (does that count?). âDonât think Iâm trying to scare you or anything, heâs not a bad guy, itâs just⊠he can be a little more on the serious side when it comes to dance. I mean Iâm sure you get it, being in the arts and all that.â
âWhatever man, just wait. Iâve got this in the bag already.â Jisung says as they enter the studio together. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots something, or someone that is, that definitely wasnât there last week. He likes to think heâd remember seeing someone like him. He also believes heâd remember every single girl in that class (which mind you, is everyone with the exception of Jisung and Felix) shamelessly staring the same guy down as if he was the last croissant at that trendy bakery down the street from Chanâs apartment. It makes something akin to jealousy shoot down Jisungâs spine and into his fingertips. Look, itâs not what you think it is, he doesnât even like girls like that, but he sincerely doubts Mr. Twinkle Toes over there does either, heâs in a dance class for fucks sake. Itâs just the whole attention thing; Jisung loves being the person in the room that people feel compelled to approach (except for when he really doesnât), and this guy is hogging his spotlight. Jisung does the only thing he thinks can help him in this situation, and turns to Felix to ask, âWho in the everloving fuck is that?â
âWho?â He distantly hears Felixâs response over the sound of blood in his ears as he makes eye contact with the mystery man. Jisung really just thinks itâs unfair, how can someone have such an objectively perfect face, and maybe now he understands why all 20-something girls just canât seem to look away from their classmate. His stare is piercing, almost as if heâs one of those mind readers Jisung worries about when his thoughts get a little inappropriate for the situation, and now all he can think about is if thatâs exactly whatâs happening right now.
Regrettably, before he can really unpack what any of that is supposed to mean, the professor walks in, and any fraction of the boyâs attention that Jisung held is immediately lost to what he thinks is a motivational speech to open the class.
âAlright everybody, todayâs class will be focused on Horton Techniqueâ the professor starts, âAs a lot of you are not dancers, we will begin the class with a bit of a lecture on the history of the form. Contemporary dance is deeply rooted in the evolution of modern dance forms, so it is important we begin with these foundational techniquesâ
As the professor drones on about the history of modern dance, a voice in the back of Jisungâs mind reminds him that although there are no exams, the homework assignments are probably based on what sheâs saying right now. He proceeds to throw that out the window and instead stares at Mr. Twinkle Toes from his place across the room. Look donât judge the nickname, it's not like Jisung knows his real name and honestly, the nickname is kinda funny and definitely going to stick around for way too long whether or not they ever even exchange greetings.
What he finds, however, is not a sight he had been expecting. TT, as Jisung will now be taking to calling the boy in his head since Mr. Twinkle Toes is long and pretentious and must be saved exclusively for peak comedic timing, is already looking right back at him. Seriously, what is this dude's deal with Jisung? All he wanted when he signed up for a random class was some inner peace and an easy A, and now heâs not sure heâs got either of those. Unfortunately, just like every other time, Jisung has attempted to get any form of information on his mystery man, his professor has decided to stop lecturing and move on to actual dancing, causing both of their gazes to break.
This professor is really starting to get on Jisungâs nerves, canât she see heâs on a mission here? Clearly more important than whatever the fuck Horton Technique is.
âTo begin our warmup series, we will be learning a flat-back combination. This exercise engages your muscles and prepares the body for more rigorous movementâ Jisung is vaguely aware of the teacher as she guides the class through the combination, focusing on keeping his head down and refusing to attract negative attention.
The teacher repeats the combination twice through movement, once verbally, and declares this enough before moving to turn on the music. Jisung canât help but notice that Mr, Twinkle Toes seems to have taken to standing front and center of the studio. Teacherâs pet much? Itâs not like he could possibly be good enough to warrant standing there in the first place. Jisung may not be a dancer, but he and Seungmin did drunkenly watch reruns of Dance Moms one night after finals, so he knows that front and center is reserved for special people who can actually dance.
Mystery Boy, as it turns out, is in fact one of those special people who can actually dance, and Jisung finds himself entranced by the way he effortlessly completes the exercise Jisung couldnât even remember with the repetition and explanations. He suddenly finds himself grateful heâs placed himself directly behind Mystery Boy, and no itâs not because he has a good view of his ass you pervert, heâs wearing sweats anyways. Jisung learns that standing behind him does actually provide him with some knowledge as he simply repeats the movements he sees in front of him, albeit a little sloppier.
As the exercise draws to a close, and the professor moves to command the attention of the class, Jisung realizes something he had been previously ignorant of.
The music
Well, if you can even call it that. Jisung doesnât understand how Mr. Twinkle Toes up in the front can do the exercises so flawlessly when the sound of nails on a chalkboard would be more audibly appealing than this monstrosity contained in his professorâs iPad. To each their own, he supposes, as he proceeds to figure out how to get his brain to tune out the music for the remainder of the class.
The professor leads them through a few more simple warm-up exercises in the center before announcing that theyâll be moving to the corner to try a few exercises across the floor. Jisung finds himself grateful for this, as if he ever has to do a Lateral T exercise again he might just do something drastic enough to change the trajectory of his professorâs life. He finds himself towards the end of the line the class has formed, alongside Felix, and notices that Mystery Boy has taken up a position at the end of the line. Given his assertiveness at the front of the room, and unfortunately, his ability to dance better than Jisung previously assumed, it seemed like he would be the kind of person to rush to be first in line.
Not that Jisung is complaining, this just means that he doesnât have to embarrass himself by going after someone who actually knows what theyâre doing.
The teacher then leads them through Jisungâs new least favorite exercise. The worst part? Itâs not even supposed to be that hard. Itâs basically a glorified walking pattern across the length of the studio, something about familiarizing yourself with the ground or whatever, and Jisung just doesnât get it. He proceeds to share this with Felix, who goes over it with him while they wait in line, and he could kiss Felix for how he saved him from being a walking (literally) embarrassment.
Unfortunately for him, his Mystery Boy is soon after him, and heâs forced to watch the most graceful walking of his entire life. He didnât even know walking could be so graceful before taking this class. You learn something new every day it seems. Jisung is infuriated by the boy and his strange affinity for walking, and he decides that Felix needs to hear this.
âWho the fuck does he think he is? It's enough to be that obnoxiously talented and objectively attractive, but to know it like he does too?â Jisung whispers to Felix a little louder than expected. Before he can check if anyone heard him, he feels someoneâs breath on the back of his neck, far too close for comfort.
âItâs rude to talk about people behind their backs. I guess I was wrong to assume your parents would have raised you better than that?â He hears from behind him, whispered directly in his ear.
Jisung finds himself unable to move, or speak for that matter. In a true life or death scenario (not that this isnât), his instincts would immediately choose freeze over the much more useful fight or flight, which should worry Jisung, but heâs a little preoccupied. He says what is apparently the only thing he can think of when faced with strangers recently, which ends up being an incredibly eloquent, âWho the fuck are you?â
âLee Minho, itâd do you well to remember that. Your TA as well, although in hindsight that part might be a bit more importantâ he gets in response.
âOh! Iâm so sorry, I swear whatever you heard, I really didnât mean it to be rude. Iâm just struggling with the class and dealing with it in an even worse manner. But since youâre my TA, you can help me, right?â Jisung adds that last part alongside some serious puppy-dog eyes as a last-ditch attempt to make Minho believe that Jisung really is just in awe of him and not a jerk.
âYeah, fat chance after that display. You have a far better chance of getting help from Lixie over here, itâs not like he doesnât know the same things I do.â So that didnât work.
âThereâs really no need to get snappy Minho, I swear he didnât mean it like that.â Felix decides to add in at that moment, and thank god Jisung has someone to come to his aid like this,â He really is just curious, he missed class last Wednesday anyways.â
âYeah, whatever, just donât let me catch you talking like that again. Iâm not a bitch but I will take it up with the professor if you want to choose to act like a child in a college course.â Minho finishes with that, brushing past Jisung before he can even utter another apology.
The rest of class continues somewhat normally, Jisung keeps his head down and mouth shut to avoid inadvertently offending another classmate or worse, his professor. Minho seems to preen even more given that the professor is making it more and more aware that he is the TA, and incredibly talented at that. She couldnât have done that an hour ago before Jisung was given the perfect opportunity to humiliate himself? This class keeps getting worse.
At long last, class is released, and Jisung is free to hide in his dorm for the rest of eternity out of shame. He almost makes it out of the dance building unscathed, but not before he runs into Felix waiting for a more advanced dance class after the one he shares with Jisung, who offers apologies on behalf of Minho as well as a chance for him to help Jisung better understand the class and his phone number.
Jisung really doesnât have it in his heart to tell Felix heâs seriously considering dropping this class over how horrifically heâs embarrassed himself. He also doesnât have it in himself to drop the class when he checks the app on his phone as he begins his walk, so he might as well accept the help where he can. He texts Felix, asking if they can meet outside of class, and heads off towards his dorm.
ââââââ------------------------
Jisung left class that morning more confused than heâd ever been in his entire life. He likes to think of himself as a people person, even though he is one of those people who spends his solo walks and that awkward period of laying down before you fall asleep thinking of every conversation thatâs ever gone wrong in his entire life. Honestly, this truly is one for the books, how was he supposed to know Mr. Twinkle Toes was his TA, and how the fuck was he supposed to know that Felix wasnât playing about him actually giving a fuck about dance. Now Jisung gets it, heâs an artist too, it sucks to have your work devalued or seen as lesser, especially as a student. But itâs not like he even said anything rude to Minho, in fact, he was incredibly complimentary of him, so he really doesnât understand what upset the other boy so much.
Jisungâs self-deprecating depression spiral over his stupid dance TA, who doesnât even matter anyway like who even cares, comes to an end when he reaches his dorm and slams the front door a little harder than normal, startling his roommate. Kim Seungmin may be a little shit who makes (lovingly) snide comments towards Jisung whenever he finds the opportunity to do so, but thereâs a reason Jisung chose to room with him again despite totally having a way out of doing so. Okay so he didnât, but that doesnât change the fact that he really does love Seungmin and appreciates his ability to stay put together when Jisung absolutely cannot.
âThe fuck happened to you? I havenât seen you this upset since spring registration.â Jisung hears Seungmin ask. Although he really isnât in the mood to âtalk this outâ, he has to admit that Seungmin might have something interesting to provide.
âItâs just my TA for that stupid dance class, not like itâs important or anything.â Jisung responds, âHeâs just so⊠infuriating.â
âOh? How so?â
âWe were going through class like what I assume is normal, and I went to say something about him to my friend in the class and I guess he overheard and flipped the fuck out over it.â
âWell, what did you say? If youâre talking shit about someone and they hear itâs not like theyâre going to be particularly excited about that, you idiot.â
âNo, I swear nothing like that! I was just upset that he was so talented and objectively attractive AND confident on top of all of that. I didnât even know he was my TA for fucks sakeâ Jisung proceeds to flop across their shared couch for dramatic effect, surely Seungmin will take pity on him.
âWait, whatâs his name? I know a few dancers myself you know.â He did not, oh well. Curse Seungmin and his ability to be impartial about situations.
âI think he said it was like Lee Minho? Something like that, not much to go off, unfortunately.â
âDo you have a picture of him?â
âNo what the fuck why do you need one?â Jisung feels weirdly called out by this as he does, in fact, have a photo of him. Sue him for being able to find the socials of the boy in question, not like it was that hard.
âIâll tell you if you show me a picture of himâ
âFine.â Jisung relents, handing over his phone, opened to Minhoâs Instagram account.
âOh! I do know him, didnât think this is who youâd be talking about though. You sure this is the right guy?â
âAbsolutely. How the fuck do you know him, you literally study old books for fun and heâs a dancerâ
âWe grew up together dipshit, and donât shit talk about my major. It's not like yours is anything useful either.â
He really got Jisung there. On the Minho thing, a music degree is perfectly useful, thank you very much. Unless he ever decides he wants to do something that isnât specifically music production, but thatâs a thought for another time. Back to the whole Minho Problem. Thatâs right, itâs become a Problem, with capitals and everything. Could Jisung tell you why he cares so much? Not at all, but thatâs why he needs to get to the bottom of this.
âYou know, I really didnât expect that to be who you were talking about. As much as he was a pain in my ass growing up, being older and all that, he wasnât outright rudeâ Seungmin adds, âI mean heâs kinda got the closest thing you can have to a reputation on a college campus, dude gets along with everyone.â
âYouâre joking. Well clearly nobodyâs taken a dance class with him before. Or even heard that he dances.â
âYou do realize most of those people in your class are there for the sole purpose of taking class with him, right? The dance department shows are only as popular as they are because of him. I heard they even got more people auditioning this past week because heâs in the shows.â
Now that he mentions it, that does make a lot of sense. Jisung was wondering how it was possible for one person to attract that much attention, but if they already knew who Minho was, of course, they would be looking for him. It also makes sense as to why he might not remember Felix from the first day of classes as it sounds like auditions for the dance departmentâs production were why Minho couldnât make class. Seungminâs next statement snaps him out of his train of thought.
âYou know I feel like I should be a bit more hung up on the fact that youâve been calling my childhood friend âobjectively attractiveâ whatever the fuck that means, but I really canât bring myself to sit with that right now.â Leave it to Seungmin to find something even less helpful to interject with.
Jisung really needs to reconsider who he seeks advice from, maybe he should talk to Felix more. He really shouldâve lied about what he said about Minho, but seriously how was he supposed to know Seungmin was all buddy-buddy with him?
âWhatever man, Iâm going to bed. Iâll just like avoid him for the rest of the semester or something, doesnât affect me.â Jisung says to Seungmin, hoping itâs enough to keep his roommate from prying. âAlright? I assumed you caring enough to rant to me about it meant youâd do something about it, but thatâs not on me to inspire that in you.â he hears Seungmin snark in response. So what he knew Minho or something, people change from when theyâre kids.
Despite going into that conversation seeking the truth, or at least validation that Minho is totally, ultimately in the wrong here, Jisung canât feel anything but regret for how their conversation went down this morning. Now itâs not like all of a sudden Jisung thinks what he said was wrong, he just wishes he mightâve said something different so that he wasnât the most hated classmate of his TA. He just wants a good grade in his dance class, thatâs all.
As he tosses and turns in an attempt to get some sleep before his 8 am that night, he canât help but wonder why he cares so much about what Minho thinks of him.
Just a bit later, while far along the way to the land of dreams, Jisung blinks awake with a genius idea. You see, late at night, right when youâre about to fall asleep is the greatest time to come up with a plan. Well, not quite a plan, just a name:
Seo Changbin.

MASTERLIST | <- Previous | Next ->
At first youâre not quite sure what pulled you from sleep. Youâre warm and more comfortable than you have been in a long time, despite the dull throbbing between your thighs. The pillow against your back shifts, a chill settling in as some of the warmth disappears.Â
You blink your eyes open, squinting against the harsh blue light of a phone screen. Price lets out a quiet groan, swiping at something before settling his phone back on the nightstand in front of you. His arms wrap back around your middle, his face pressing into the back of your neck as he settles against you again.Â
It was his phone vibrating that had woken you, pulling you from the gentle arms of sleep. Itâs still dark out, far too early to be up and getting phone calls, especially on a Sunday morning. You wonder how often John actually gets to sleep, between his job and everything he does when heâs not away. Youâre understanding the couch in his office more and more now.Â
âGo back to sleep.â He murmurs, a quiet rumbling vibrating against your back as he purrs.
You donât need to be told twice, snuggling down under the covers again, letting your eyes close.Â
You wake a while later alone. Itâs daylight finally, the sunlight coming through the window lighting the room. You press your face into the pillow, inhaling Priceâs scent. It still smells a bit like arousal and sex in the room, both of your scents heavy in the air. They blend together surprisingly well, Priceâs musky woody scent mixing with the sweetness of your own scent. It makes an intoxicating aroma of alpha and omega.Â
Price comes out of the bathroom, slipping back under the covers. You curl up against his side, laying your head on his chest as he wraps an arm around you.Â
âMorning.â He murmurs, voice heavy with sleep still.Â
You hum in response, resting your head over his heart.Â
âHow do you feel?â He asks, his fingers trailing your bare back.Â
âA bit sore.â You say, acknowledging the throbbing between your legs. âNot as bad as I thought I might.âÂ
Price huffs out a laugh. âIt shouldnât hurt, not if you know what youâre doing.âÂ
You hum again, the knowledge that heâs very experienced coming to the forefront of your mind. Even if it has been two years, you can imagine him when he was younger, the kind of experiences he must have had. Omegas and barrack bunnies and all sorts of women probably fawned over him.Â
âYouâre thinking too much.â He says quietly, eyes closed as he lays there with you.Â
Youâre starting to think he might be able to read your mind.Â
âCan I ask you something? Something...personal?â You ask, tilting your head up to look at him.Â
He cracks an eye open to stare down at you. âDonât think you can get much more personal than we already are.â His lips twitch up in a smile. ââCourse, you can ask me anything.âÂ
âWhen was the last time you helped an omega through a heat?â You ask, listening to the steady thump of his heart under your ear.Â
âYears ago. Well over a decade ago.â He says, voice still thick and raspy with sleep. He clears his throat, a hand settling on your waist. âBack when I was still a Sergeant. I had the idea back then of settling down, finding an omega and having my own pack. Had a few on and off relationships. Then I started getting sent off on more and more dangerous missions. I realized my skill set and my purpose, and gave up the idea of having an omega. I couldnât stand the thought of putting them through that, if something happened to me. Iâve seen what losing an alpha does to an omega firsthand too many times.âÂ
A frown tugs at your brows as you lay there against his chest. You know the risk of them dying is high. The CIA had spent ample time warning you of that risk, telling you about how dangerous their lives are and how every assignment, every deployment, could be their last. They could be gone for weeks at a time, months at a time, and they could go and not come back. They know that every time they leave for an assignment it could be their last, and now youâll be stuck behind knowing they might not be coming back.Â
Youâve heard about omegas that have lost their alphas, how damaging it can be. Itâs not something youâre taught at the institute. Thatâs not something youâre supposed to think about, something you shouldnât have to think about.Â
âWhatâs eating you?â Price asks softly, his finger stroking the pinched skin between your brows.Â
You shift against his side, leaning more on his chest as you look up at him. âWhat if you donât come back?âÂ
His smile is a bit grim as he stares up at you, his fingers trailing across your face. âI wonât lie and say thatâs not a risk. Thereâs always a chance.â His fingers trail down your arm to rest on your hand where itâs pressed flat against his chest. âWeâre here for a reason. We are the best at what we do.âÂ
He pauses as your hand moves, your gaze lowering from his as you trace one of the scars on his clavicle. You can only imagine what caused it. A knife? Shrapnel? Where was he and what was he doing when he got it? You might never be able to know all the details. So many secrets, so much you canât know.Â
John wraps his arms around you, easing you off his chest as he rolls you onto your back. You stare up at him as he hovers over you, his hand brushing stray hairs from your face. âDonât worry too much.â He says, his finger trailing the line of your nose. âWe always try our best to make it home. Now we just have an even greater reason to.âÂ
Your hand cups his cheek as he leans down, pressing his lips to yours. You hum against his mouth, pressing your body closer against his. You canât help but smile against his lips as his cock hardens against your thigh.Â
âAgain?â You murmur against his lips, making him chuckle.
âCanât blame me when thereâs a beautiful omega naked in my bed.âÂ
Your face burns as he leans back down to kiss you, his hips moving against your thigh. Warmth spreads through your whole body from his scent thickening in the air, his arousal prevalent as he twitches against your leg.Â
âJohn.â You moan softly, hands grasping at his back.Â
You both pause as a door shuts in the hallway, the reminder that the others are just a thin wall away coming back to you. The moment is over as your stomach growls, also reminding you that youâll need to eat eventually.Â
John chuckles quietly, leaning up to press a kiss against your forehead. âCome on, letâs get the day started and get some food into you.âÂ
You frown a bit as he pulls away, cock still hard and angry looking as he stands from the bed. âJohn?â You call out, scrambling off the bed after him. âYouâre just gonna...âÂ
âGive it a minute and Iâll be fine.â He says, moving to his closet. âWouldnât be the first time.âÂ
Your frown only deepens and you step closer to him, catching him as he turns around. You stare up at him through your lashes, wrapping your hand around his cock. He pauses, letting out a little groan as you squeeze him gently.Â
âLet me help you.â You say, dragging your hand along his length.Â
His eyes darken as he stares down at you, the pants in his hand dropping to the floor.Â
Your face is still a bit flushed as you make your way to the mess. Youâre hand in hand with John, dressed comfortably in one of his shirts and a pair of leggings. You canât help but feel a bit bashful, as if theyâre all going to know what you did, as if every soldier in the mess knows you and Price slept together last night.Â
Theyâve probably been thinking that since you arrived.Â
Price leads you through the line, making your tray for you. You nearly beam with pride at him taking care of you, your omega preening with happiness as he carries your tray and his to the table. You take the spot next to Gaz as usual, still practically beaming.Â
âHave a good night, love?â Gaz asks, smirking a bit at your pleased state.Â
âYeah.â You say, your face getting warm again at their stares.Â
âPractically glowing, kitten.â Johnny says, winking at you from across the table.Â
Your face flushes hotter and you quickly bury yourself in your porridge to avoid exploding at the breakfast table.Â
âSounded like ye had a great time.â Johnny continues.Â
Christ, they probably heard the whole thing. You halfway want to sink down beneath the table to hide from their knowing stares. You donât have anything to be embarrassed about, not really. Theyâre your pack, and eventually youâll be in the same position with them too.Â
âDidnae know ye had it in ye, kitten.â Johnny continues. âWe certainly enjoyed the show.â
You do start to sink down in your seat a bit, surprised steam isnât rising off your skin from how warm you feel. Gazâs hand on your leg stops you, his fingers squeezing your thigh gently.Â
âDonât pay too much attention to him, love.â Gaz gives you a reassuring smile. âHeâs just jealous he didnât get to go first.âÂ
âAm not.â Johnny whines, practically pouting.Â
You canât help but smile a bit at his antics. You know from how much he bragged about getting to be your first kiss that he probably was rather put out that John got to be your first. It would have been that way regardless, but you know you asking John before your heat changed things a bit. It would have always been John, though.Â
It would have always been your alpha first.Â
Gazâs hand doesn't move from your thigh, holding its place there as you all eat, Johnny still pouting a bit. You know theyâll want to pursue that sort of relationship with you after your heat, but now that Johnâs removed the barrier of the first time as well, you can only expect them to up the teasing tenfold. A shiver runs up your spine at the thought of Gaz sliding his hand slightly higher, fingers slipping between your legs.Â
Youâre certain there has to be steam coming off of you now.Â
Your thighs squeeze together, trapping Gaz's fingers between them as you continue to try and act normally. Gaz turns his head just slightly, side eyeing you as you continue to try and eat your breakfast as normally as possible. Gaz's grip on your thigh tightens, fingers digging into your skin. You fight the noise threatening to come up as he holds his hand there, continuing to eat his breakfast as if nothing is happening.Â
You hold Gaz's hand as he walks you back towards the barracks, leaning against his side. His grip around your fingers is tight, not even the rain dampening the heaviness of his scent. It's deeper than usual, the musk of arousal tinging the edges.Â
Your back meets your door as soon as you're back in the barracks, Gaz pinning you against the wood. Your own breathing is heavy as you stare up at him, his eyes dark as he meets your gaze.Â
âFuckinâ gorgeous, you know that?â He groans, leaning down to kiss you. It's far more passionate than you've ever kissed him before, his hands sliding down your sides to grip your waist. âMaking all those sweet noises last night.â He breathes against your lips. âHaven't seen Price that relaxed in a long time.âÂ
Your face warms at his words, your hands clutching at the fabric of his shirt. He presses harder against you, pinning you against the door as his tongue prods at your lips. He tastes like the tea he drank with breakfast, herby and earthy.Â
âHas us all worked up last night.â He groans against your lips. âHearing you, knowing our alpha was treating you nice.â
He presses his forehead against yours, staring down at you. You meet his gaze, shivering under the intensity in his deep brown eyes.Â
âJohnny bout cried he was so worked up.â Gaz's lips twitch in a smile. âSimon left for the gym bout halfway through, had to work out his tension.â
Your brows raise at the news about what Ghost had been up to last night. You figured he might join Johnny in his room, or perhaps head somewhere so he didn't have to hear you. Not that he would leave because he was being affected by you.Â
âJohnny was being such a whiny little bastard. Had no choice but to take pity on him.â Gaz nips at your jawline playfully. âI fear he's going to be unbearable until he gets his chance.âÂ
âWell, he'll just have to wait his turn.â You say.Â
Gaz laughs, kissing you again before he takes half a step back, leaning his arm on the door above you. âAny plans today?â
You shrug, still leaning against your door. âMight read, or nap. Maybe both.â You sink your teeth into your lip, reaching back to put your hand on the door handle. âYou wanna come in?âÂ
Gaz's grin widens into a smile, his eyes practically sparkling. âSure.â
You open the door, stepping into your room. It's a bit of a mess from you preparing for your date last night. You toss the clothes from your bed onto the floor haphazardly before pushing Gaz onto the mattress. He kicks off his shoes before making himself comfortable. You toe off your slippers, grabbing your book before joining him on the bed. He pulls you against his side, pulling his phone out of his pocket as you settle against his chest. A quiet content purr begins rumbling in his chest, easing the tension in your body as you relax against him.Â
You stay like that, reading while cuddling Gaz, for quite a while. Your door is wide open still, the others coming and going as they do on the weekends. Gaz keeps your back to his chest, arm wrapped around his middle as he scrolls on his phone while you read.Â
Slowly his head starts to droop until it's resting against the top of yours. You can feel the content sleepiness settling into your bones as well, the words on the pages starting to swim a bit. You mark your place, moving just enough to set your book on your nightstand before you curl up against him, letting his even breaths lull you to sleep.Â
You jolt awake suddenly as Gaz's arms tighten around you, keeping you from flying off the bed. You blink open your bleary eyes, squinting at Johnny's grinning face inches from yours. His body is draped over both yours and Gaz's, a solid weight against you both.Â
âC'mon ye lazies. Gotta eat lunch eventually.â He says, sounding far too chipper for a Sunday afternoon.Â
âFuck off mate.â Gaz says, shoving at Johnny's shoulder. âWas comfy.â
âYer hogging the omega!â Johnny says, poking Gaz's side. He pushes himself up, scooping you into his arms and lifting you. âSome of us would like tae spend time with âer too.âÂ
You yelp at being lifted suddenly, wrapping your arms around Johnny's neck to hold on for dear life.Â
âWell, maybe you just need to be a little bit faster.â Gaz says, standing from the bed.Â
âI'm plenty fast.â Johnny almost whines. âClose to beating your time on the course.â
Gaz smirks. âI'll believe it when I see it.âÂ
You look back and forth between them as Gaz steps closer to Johnny, caging you between them.Â
âAnd ye will see it.â Johnny says.
âCheeky.â Gaz murmurs, closing the distance between them.Â
You stare wide eyed as they kiss just inches in front of your face. It's all tongues and teeth, Soap's chest rumbling against your side as he purrs. A quiet whimper leaves your lips as you watch them, your body starting to get warm again.Â
They break apart, both turning to look at you. Gaz's lips turn up in a smirk, Johnny's eyes sparkling.Â
âLook at you, kitten.â Johnny smirks. âYe like watching us?âÂ
You make another quiet noise, sinking your teeth into your bottom lip. Johnny slowly lowers you until you're standing between them, Gaz not moving an inch as they trap you in a beta sandwich. Their bodies are warm and solid as you stand there, back to Johnny's chest. You can feel the bulge in his jeans pushing against your ass, Gaz's body a solid weight against your front.Â
You can imagine it, naked between them, skin against skin with hands everywhere. A quiet purr begins in your chest, eyes dilating as you stare up at Gaz. He smirks down at you, leaning down towards you. He skirts to the side at the last minute though, kissing Johnny behind you.Â
You can't see them this time but lord can you hear it. Johnny is still purring, the sound vibrating against your back. Gaz let's out a quiet sound, his hand dropping to squeeze your waist.Â
Johnny pats your side before pulling away. âShould get ye some lunch.â
Your head is still spinning as Gaz hums his approval, stepping away as well. You stand there blinking for a moment at the sudden loss of contact, the sudden shift in energy.Â
âC'mon, get yer shoes on, sunshine.â Johnny says.Â
You move half in a daze still towards your bed, your body tingling a bit still from the many thoughts that had been racing through your mind.Â
Something in the back of your mind begins to itch as you stare down at your bed. Your brows pinch in a frown as you stare down at the mess of blankets and pillows.Â
It's not right.Â
Your fingertips twitch as you stare at the mess in your nest, your mind taking over as you begin to rearrange the blankets and pillows. You forget you're not alone in the room as you fuss with the blankets until the itching begins to lessen a bit. You fiddle with the pillows, moving them around over and over again until you're happy with how they're organized, the quiet humming in the back of your mind fading away to nothing.Â
You sink down on the edge of the bed, letting out a long breath. You feel tired and almost winded after your effort to make sure your nest is just right.Â
Nest.Â
You're nesting.Â
You blink up at Johnny and Gaz, suddenly aware of their presence in your space again. Johnny is staring at you wide eyed, mouth slightly parted in wonder. Gaz has a sparkle in his eye as he grins at you.Â
You've just built a nest.Â
âFeel better, love?â Gaz asks, still almost beaming from witnessing you make your nest.Â
You nod, a sudden weight lifting from your shoulders. You've nested. You're nesting. Everything is going to be okay.Â
âC'mon.â Johnny says, slipping your slippers back onto your feet. âLet's get lunch in ye.â
You let him help you up, holding both their hands as you make your way from the barracks, a small, relieved smile on your face.
You wake up nauseous.Â
Thereâs a clawing feeling in your stomach and youâre not sure why.Â
Itâs early, too early to be up. The sky outside is still dark, and the barracks are quiet. You get up, heading for the bathroom, the gnawing feeling still plaguing your stomach. Cold water on your face doesn't help the light-headedness or the dizziness youâre beginning to feel.Â
You canât possibly be sick. You havenât been around anyone thatâs sick. You know heat sickness isnât a threat right now. Thereâs no warnings out about possible exposures. It couldnât be food poisoning. You eat the same things they do.Â
The gnawing intensifies, your stomach rumbling a bit.Â
Realization dawns on you suddenly.Â
Youâre hungry.Â
Youâre very hungry.Â
You check the time on your phone. Three a.m. Still too early for any of the boys to be up, and still a couple hours from when the mess would start serving breakfast. You head for the rec room, hoping thereâs at least something in there to tide you over until breakfast.Â
You dig through the cabinets, plenty of tea and a couple packets of instant coffee you know belong to Johnny. You dig out a couple protein bars, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge before taking a seat on the couch.Â
The protein bars arenât great. They donât taste good, but youâre so hungry you donât care. You down them quickly and the entire bottle of water. For a moment you feel relief, the gnawing in your stomach easing. You head back to bed, slipping back into your room quietly.Â
You toss and turn, unable to go back to sleep as the gnawing begins in your stomach once more. You let out a quiet sound, muffled by your pillow as you lay there, knowing you still have a long time until theyâll come and get you for breakfast.Â
The thought makes you almost want to cry.Â
Youâre waiting as soon as they knock, narrowly avoiding Johnnyâs hand as you open the door mid-knock. The bright look in his eyes fades as he stares at you. You know you look miserable, maybe a little sick, even. You feel worse, your stomach twisting and gnawing. Those protein bars four hours ago hadnât been nearly enough.Â
âYe alright, kitten?â He asks, a frown marring his face.Â
âHungry.â You all but whine, slipping out the door, closing it behind you.Â
âYe hungry, kitten? Ye could have said somethinâ sooner. Coulda brought ye somethinâ.â Johnny says, following you down the hall.Â
Youâre determined to get real food and youâre not about to let anything get in your way. You feel ravenous, despite the fact youâd had a good dinner the night before.Â
Maybe it hadnât been enough.Â
You make your own tray this time, loading on more than you usually do. You take your normal spot between Price and Gaz, all four of them eyeing your tray as you happily dig in.Â
âHungry, love?â Price asks, watching you spoon huge mouthfuls of porridge into your mouth.Â
You nod, chewing quickly before spooning more in. It tastes delicious, something you never thought you would say about British food.Â
They all watch in awe as you clear your tray, eating every last crumb, having to refrain from licking it clean. Finally, for the first time since you went to bed last night, you feel full and satisfied.Â
âDamn. Putting us to shame.â Gaz says, staring at your empty, nearly clean tray.Â
You grow bashful under their stares, realizing you not only out ate them, you also finished first. âI was hungry.â You say, fiddling with your fork.Â
âNo kidding.â Ghost huffs out, all of them finishing up their trays.Â
Youâre in a far better mood leaving the mess than you were entering it, the sweet relief of being full after hours of gnawing hunger making you feel almost giddy. Ghost walks you back to the barracks, walking slow enough you can easily keep up with him. So slow, your arm brushes his as you walk next to him.Â
âSorry.â You say, moving a step away from him. Youâre so used to standing directly next to the others, youâve forgotten Ghost prefers his personal space.Â
He stares down at you for a moment but doesnât say anything, holding the door to the barracks open for you. He stands just inside the door, watching you make your way down the hallway to your room. He waits for the click of the lock before he turns, leaving you alone in the barracks again.Â
You settle into your usual routine of laying in your nest and reading, the giddiness starting to wear off as the time passes. You make it until ten a.m. when the gnawing hunger begins to return. You let out an annoyed whine, dropping your book to the floor as you roll onto your stomach.Â
You want to cry and scream at the same time, watching the clock tick by on your phone. Youâre tired of being so hungry, and whatâs worse, you donât even know why. Youâre just ravenous and you canât think of a reason.Â
Lunch canât come soon enough, and you find yourself struggling through the afternoon just as much. Itâs almost like your body is on a timer and every two hours youâre suddenly starving, as if you havenât eaten all day. You eat just as much as you did at breakfast, scarfing down food like youâre a starving animal.Â
You certainly feel like one.Â
You head to the rec room after dinner, Ghost and Johnny joining you. Johnny takes the seat next to you on the couch, draping his arm behind you as Ghost takes his usual spot in the chair.Â
You curl up against Johnnyâs side, watching whatever he decides to put on TV half-heartedly. Youâre waiting for the inevitable, the gnawing hunger to creep up on you again.Â
It does, roughly two hours into your time in the rec room.Â
You shift against Johnny, pressing against his side more as you try to ignore the hunger burning through you. His arm wraps around your shoulders, holding you against him. You breathe in his scent, letting the citrusy scent of him wash over you.Â
It only serves to make you more hungry.Â
You let out a quiet whine, trying to get closer to him. Tears prick at your eyes as you know thereâs no relief coming. Thereâs no more meals until tomorrow. Youâll have to go all night before you can eat again, before you can relieve the hunger. Youâre not sure youâll make it that long. You might perish in the middle of the night, or become violently ill. Perhaps both.Â
You let out another quiet whine, standing from the couch. You canât take it anymore, both Johnny and Ghost watching you as you head for the cabinets, kneeling on the floor and rummaging through everything, desperate to find another protein bar or anything.Â
âWhat are you doing?â Ghost asks, staring at you as youâre halfway in the cabinet, checking every last corner.Â
âHungry!â You snap, half considering eating one of the tea bags just for something.Â
Youâve just closed the cabinet door in irritation when an arm wraps around your waist, lifting you from the floor. You let out a yelp, Ghost carrying you easily back to the couch.Â
âStay.â He says after dropping you back next to Johnny. âIâll be back.âÂ
Johnny wraps his arms around you as you pout, nearly in tears from how frustrated you are. Youâre just so hungry.Â
âEasy, kitten.â Johnny says, pulling you back against his chest.Â
You nuzzle into him, curling up into a ball against his side. He starts purring quietly, trying to soothe you while you wait for Ghost to return. You canât pay attention to the TV, Johnny trying to change the channel every time a food related commercial comes on.Â
Youâre nearly shaking when Ghost returns, arms full of snacks. Your eyes widen as he dumps them on the coffee table, pushing yourself up from Johnnyâs chest.Â
âWhere did you get these?â You ask, dropping to your knees on the floor in front of the coffee table.Â
âVending machine in the mess.â Ghost answers, sitting back down in his chair.Â
You stare at him teary eyed, sniffling a little. âThank you.âÂ
He grunts in response, turning his gaze back to the TV as you reach for a bag of chips.
You can barely even taste it as you kneel there on the floor, basking in the first taste of sweet relief from a bag of salt and vinegar chips. You grab them by the handful, burning through the small, snack sized bag quickly.Â
Youâve barely finished chewing when youâre reaching for a candybar, a sudden realization striking you as your brain begins to regain the ability to think now that it knows relief is coming. You stare at the purple Cadbury on the front of the packaging, your fingers trembling as you hold the candybar.Â
You take a deep breath, quickly opening the wrapper before taking a bit, sitting back on your heels as you chew. âWell, shit.âÂ
âI know, I hate the exam rooms too.â Dr. Keller says, flipping through her clipboard. âToo clinical and sterile looking.â She lifts your hand, removing the pulse monitor from your finger. âA little higher than normal.â She says, writing something down on the clipboard.Â
She takes your blood pressure and temperature, writing both down on the clipboard.Â
âTemperature is still normal.â She says. âHow have you been feeling?âÂ
âHungry.â You say, picking at the thin fabric of the hospital gown youâve been forced into. âRavenously hungry and clingy.â You continue. âA bit more emotional than normal too.âÂ
Dr. Keller nods, writing all of it down. âNormal things for your pre-heat, according to your file. Anything out of the ordinary? Aches and pains? Any nausea or vomiting, not related to hunger?âÂ
You shake your head. âNo. Kinda sleepy all the time too, but the hunger makes it hard to sleep.âÂ
Dr. Keller nods. âThatâs normal. Your body is preparing for a few days of very little caloric intake and little rest. Iâd say youâre exhibiting all the signs of pre-heat. Youâre right on time, as expected.â She gives you a little smile. âJudging by your vitals you still have a few days before the full heat symptoms begin. Any questions?âÂ
âWhat do institutes do for heats?â John asks where heâs sitting to the side of the exam table.Â
âIt depends on the institute.â Dr. Keller says, looking at you.Â
âFIOT rotated between sedation and isolation.â You say, not really wanting to think back on the heats you had gone through at the institute. âSedation for the full heat, or shutting us in private rooms for a week to ride out the symptoms alone to avoid triggering heats in the other omegas.âÂ
âNeither are great, but in that sort of environment thereâs not a lot that can be done. Sedation is the better of the two, though it can still be disorienting. Isolation is painful and risky, especially if proper care isnât given.â Dr. Keller says.Â
âIs sedation an option for the future?â Price asks.Â
You turn to look at him, before looking back at Dr. Keller.Â
âItâs something we can explore. I know it canât be expected of you to be here for every heat. We can start exploring some alternatives after this heat is over and I have a better idea of what theyâre going to look like.â Dr. Keller gives you a soft smile. âNow, Iâd like to do a little exam just to give me a baseline for after your heat when I check for any abnormalities or injuries.âÂ
She directs you to lay down on the exam table and put your feet in the stirrups. You suddenly feel nervous, her words doing little to calm you. John appears in your peripheral, slipping his hand into yours.Â
âIs that a risk?â You ask as Dr. Keller pulls a clean pair of gloves on.Â
âOnly a small one.â She says, standing at the end of the table. âI know youâve probably heard all the horror stories, but those are only really concerns with inexperienced alphas who have never helped an omega through a heat before, especially those who had limited exposure to omegas in general.â She smiles at you. âYouâre in good hands, my dear.âÂ
She does her exam, letting you sit up once sheâs finished. John helps you up, still holding your hand. Dr. Kellerâs words do ease your concerns just a bit, but you canât help the images flashing through your mind, the horror stories of mutilations and even deaths. You trust Price to take care of you, but at the same time, you wonât know until itâs over.Â
âEverything looks good.â She says. âThe best thing you can do right now is try to satiate the pre-heat symptoms and take this time to make sure everything is ready and in place for when the full heat begins. Donât worry too much.â She looks pointedly at you. âIâll be on call and ready should something happen.â Her gaze turns to John. âYour beta knows what to look out for, right?âÂ
John nods. âKyle has been doing a lot of research. He knows what to do.âÂ
âGood.â Dr. Keller says, looking back at you. âWhy donât you get dressed, then we can go back to my office where itâs more comfortable and talk some more.âÂ
Dr. Keller leaves you alone in the room, Price helping you change back into your normal clothes, leaving the room with you. You turn to look up at him, Dr. Keller waiting for you near her office door.Â
âIâll see you later, yeah?â Price says, leaning down towards you.Â
âYeah.â You say, standing up on your toes to kiss him.Â
You try to ignore the look on Dr. Kellerâs face as you walk past her and into her office, your face warming a bit in response. You take your normal seat, trying to get comfortable despite your bashfulness.Â
âYou and Captain Price seem a lot closer.â Dr. Keller says as she sits across from you on the couch.Â
You nod. âYeah. We, uh, we have gotten closer.â You chew on your lip. âWe slept together...on Saturday night. Had a date, he cooked dinner. Then we...did it.âÂ
Dr. Kellerâs brows raise at your words, her face surprised. âOh? Is that so? Is that something you wanted?âÂ
You nod. âI asked him if heâd do it. I wanted my first time to be when I could remember it...before I would feel like it was something that had to be done.âÂ
Dr. Keller hums, writing something down. âDid you have fun?âÂ
Your face warms at her words, and you halfway wish the chair would swallow you whole. You nod, hiding your fingers beneath your sleeves again. âYeah. I uh, started nesting too.âÂ
Dr. Kellerâs face breaks out into a huge smile. âThatâs great! Thatâs fantastic news! Perfect timing too.âÂ
You nod. âYeah. Started on Sunday. Been feeling it since.âÂ
âGood. That gives us one less thing to worry about.â She sets her notebook aside, crossing her legs as she stares at you. âHow do you feel about your heat coming so soon?âÂ
âNervous.â You answer honestly.Â
âIt can be a bit daunting, Iâd imagine, your first heat with an alpha. Captain Price knows what heâs doing, though. He and Sergeant Garrick will take good care of you.âÂ
âI know.â You say, fiddling with your sleeves. âItâs still scary. A lot of things can happen and...what if one of them does?âÂ
âItâs not very likely.â Dr. Keller reassures you. âCaptain Price knows what heâs doing. Heâs experienced with omegas and heats and the likelihood of him losing control is small, even after so long without any contact with an omega. It sounds like Sergeant Garrick has educated himself on things to look for, and what to do to help. Iâll be ready and on call the entire time as well. Iâll make regular check-ins with Sergeant Garrick too, to make sure everything is going smoothly. Youâre not alone in this. Weâll all make sure youâre well taken care of. I know itâs a lot to ask you to trust people that are still somewhat strangers, but we all have your best interests in mind here.âÂ
âI know.â You say quietly. âItâs hard, not knowing much of anything. They tell you everything you should expect at the institute over and over again, then you get in it and everything is different. Nothing is like it should be. Nothing like they said. I donât know what Iâm doing.âÂ
âI know. You were prepared for one life and got an entirely different one. Lucky for you, though, youâre surrounded by very understanding people who are more than happy to help you. I know this is so far from ideal for you, but I think youâre doing a fantastic job with what you were handed.âÂ
You stare at your hands, thinking over her words. Johnâs called you a good omega before. Heâs called you that a few times. He thinks youâre doing a good job, despite the fact you feel like none of your skills are useful here. Despite the fact you feel like you havenât been trying.Â
You think over everything theyâve done for you, how hard theyâve tried to help make you as comfortable as possible. Sheâs right. Theyâre all so understanding and you know they like you. You can see it in their reactions to you, you can smell it on them. You know Gaz wonât let anything happen to you, even if something goes wrong.Â
They have yet to prove themselves untrustworthy, for the most part.Â
Maybe you really donât have anything to worry about.Â
âCome on.â Ghost says, standing in your doorway. You almost don't recognize him in a beanie and surgical mask instead of his usual balaclava. âGet shoes on, and letâs go.âÂ
âGo where?â You ask, sitting up on your bed.Â
âShopping.â He says, before turning on his heel.Â
You frown, but do as he says, slipping on comfortable shoes and grabbing your phone. You head down the hall towards the door, a familiar car parked outside. Price and Ghost are waiting next to the car, both dressed in civilian clothes. You approach them hesitantly, suddenly feeling intimidated in the presence of the two alphas. You know you have nothing to worry about, but this is the first time you'll be alone with both of them.Â
Ghost steps up to you, a bottle in his hand. You barely have time to hold your breath before he sprays you down with scent blocker, the harsh chemicals burning your nose as they settle on your skin and cut off your scent. It's necessary, even with two alphas around you.Â
âReady?â John asks, letting his eyes scan over your form for a second. He could probably pick up on your tension and uneasy energy from a mile away.Â
âCan...Can I ask why?â You ask as John opens the back door for you.Â
âWell, we can't have you starving to death on us, can we?â John smiles. âAnd we need to get a few things for your heat.â
âOh.ïżœïżœïżœ You say, blinking up at him.Â
âHop in. Hopefully we can get the shopping done before dinner.â John says.Â
Before you get hungry again.Â
You climb in the backseat, John closing the door before getting in the driver's side. Ghost is already in the passenger seat, buckled in and ready.Â
You sit and watch the landscape pass by, the car quiet except for the radio. The contrast between the two betas and the two alphas is almost as distinct as night and day. Johnny and Gaz had talked almost nonstop the entire drive to and back from town. Ghost and Price seem content in their silence, Ghost watching the landscape pass just like you.Â
It speaks volumes of their trust and ease with each other.Â
The farmlands turn to city and you find yourself back at Asda again. You hold John's hand as you walk, Ghost taking your other side, sandwiching you between them. People stare as you pass, their eyes on Ghost, but he doesn't even seem to notice.Â
You stick close to John as you walk through the store, picking up items you'll need for your heat, as well as some other things. Ghost follows like a shadow, people giving you a wide berth when they spot him. You're almost grateful for it. You swear some of them can tell you're about to start your heat, their eyes burning into you as they pass.Â
You can feel the beginnings of hunger starting to creep in as you walk down the bed liner aisle. You know if you weren't starting to get hungry, you would have been close to combusting from the knowledge of why this aisle was necessary.Â
You let out a sigh, leaning your head against John's arm as he crosses the bed liner off the list.Â
âWhat?â He asks, amusement in his voice.Â
âYou know what I miss?â You say, wrapping your arms around one of his. âGood authentic Mexican food.âÂ
The corner of John's lips lift in a smile. âYeah? You getting hungry again?âÂ
You nod, a subtle whine to your tone. âYeah.â
John turns to look at Ghost, the two alphas having a seconds long silent conversation before Ghost heads off, disappearing from the aisle.Â
âWhere's he going?â You ask.Â
âGetting a head start on the other supplies for your heat.â John says. âJust a couple more things, then your snacks and we'll be done and we'll get some dinner.âÂ
You stop as you turn the corner around the end of the aisle, your eyes spotting a giant teddy bear. It looks soft and squishy, your pre-heat addled brain already picturing the perfect spot for it in your nest.Â
âYou want it?â John asks, looking between you and the bear.Â
You snap back into reality for a moment, glancing up at the price. You nearly die on the spot, shaking your head. âI-I don't...â
John turns you to face him, speaking firmly. âDo you want it?â
You stare up into his eyes, nodding slowly.Â
His gaze softens just a bit, a smile tugging at his lips. âThen grab it.âÂ
You're moving before you can even have a second thought, wrapping your arms around it and lifting it off the shelf. It's just as soft as you thought it would be, nearly as big as you are too. You can imagine cuddling it in your nest, napping contently, surrounded in soft plushness.Â
âC'mon pup.â John says, patting your back gently. You're purring, you realize suddenly, the sound leaving you entirely unconsciously. âLet's get you some snacks then we'll get dinner.â
You carry the bear, following John to the grocery section of the store. He takes you to the snack aisle and you pass the bear off to him, grabbing anything and everything that looks good, loading up the cart. You grab a few things from the American section as well, snacks you didn't think you'd miss, but right now they sound like manna straight from heaven.Â
âSimon's done with his part.â John says, glancing at his phone. âWe'll meet back at the car.âÂ
You take the bear back once you're done filling the cart with snacks, heading towards the checkout. You're hesitant to let the bear go long enough to be scanned before you're holding it again, purring quietly and contently.Â
John keeps his arm around you as you walk through the parking lot towards the car. There's already bags in the trunk from Ghost, the alpha already in the passenger seat. They must have both been carrying keys to the car. Safety precautions. Things most people wouldn't even think about.Â
âThank you.â You say as John fills the trunk with the rest of the bags. âYou didn't have to do this.â
âYes we did.â John says, looking down at you. âNot going let you starve like that if we can help it.â
âIt's still strange to me, getting taken care of.â You say, squeezing the bear. âStill makes me feel a bit like a sugar baby.â
John chuckles. âDon't worry, I won't make you call me daddy.â He leans in close to your ear. âUnless you want to.âÂ
Your face burns hot, your entire body igniting with heat at his words. He gives you a gentle pat on the ass, directing you to the door of the car before taking the cart back to the store.Â
Your face is still burning as you attempt to climb into the car with your bear, giving up and stuffing it in first.Â
âWhat the hell is that?â Ghosts asks, turning to look at you.
âMy new bear.â You respond, arranging the bear so its sitting in the seat beside you.Â
âChrist.â He breathes, and you can practically hear the eye roll as you buckle the bear in.Â
You buckle yourself in as John climbs in the driver's seat.
âAll set?â He asks, turning to look at you.Â
You nod, smiling happily despite the hunger eating away at you.Â
âLet's get some dinner, then we'll head back to base.â John says, turning on the car. âCan't have our omega starving on us, can we?âÂ
Ghost snorts. âBest feed her before she decides we look appetizing.âÂ
You wrinkle your nose. âYou'd be too gamey, Ghost.â You say, eyeing him before turning your gaze to the seat in front of you. âJohn, though...â You lick your lips. âI already know you taste good.â
John lets out a deep chuckle that rumbles with the edge of a pleased growl. âEasy, kitten.â
Ghost lets out a heavy sigh, running a hand over his face. âSpare me. Now there's two of âem.âÂ
John chuckles again, squeezing Ghost's shoulder. âLittle did you know, Simon.âÂ
Ghost turns to look at John. âIs it too late to get a refund?âÂ
You stifle a giggle as John smiles. âYou'll have to ask Laswell.â Â
Ghost sighs, turning to look out the window. âNo hope for it, then.âÂ
âHey, at least I'm cute!â You grin. âDon't tell Johnny I said that.âÂ
You practically beam with pride as you see Ghost's shoulders shake with his laughter. Maybe you can get through to him more than you think you can.Â
Maybe, just maybe, you can get him to like you.Â
The knock comes at your door unexpectedly. It's late, and you had just begun to feel the pangs of hunger once more. You hate it, but you know it's necessary considering you'll have to go roughly a week getting in nothing but what nutrient bars can offer while exerting insane amounts of energy. Your body needs to store the calories now so that you don't die during your heat.Â
You're surprised to see Ghost on the other side of the door, back in his balaclava. His shoulders are squared, but you can't scent any anger or hostility on him.Â
He almost seems...nervous.Â
âHungry?â He asks, staring down at you.Â
âAlways.â You answer almost instinctively, staring up into his deep brown eyes.Â
He motions for you to follow with his head. âC'mon.âÂ
You frown a little, but you step out of your room, closing the door behind you. You follow him towards the rec room, staring at his broad back. His shoulders are still squared, hands in his pockets.Â
The rec room is set up again not unlike it was for your date with John. The card table is out and there's foil covered dishes on it, along with a couple plates. Your brows raise in surprise as you take it all in.Â
âI made you something.â Ghost says, moving over to the table, removing the foil from one of the dishes.Â
You move closer, blinking in surprise. âYou made...enchiladas?âÂ
He nods. âAs close as I could get with what I could find on short notice. There's rice and beans, too. And salsa.âÂ
Tears blur your vision as you stare down at the food on the table. It smells delicious and that's not just your ravenous pre-heat hunger talking. âYou...did this for me?â
âWell, I had help,â He says, looking past you.Â
You turn, Soap and Gaz standing at the windows that frame the door to the rec room. They smile and wave at you as you turn to look at them. A quiet laugh leaves your mouth as you smile at them.Â
âHelp yourself.â Ghost says as you turn back to the table. âThere's plenty.â
You serve yourself a plate, nearly melting off the chair as you take the first bite. It takes you all the way back home, the good years when your father was stationed in Texas.Â
âTaste okay?â Ghost asks, watching you. âI know it's not authentic, but I did a lot of research.â
âIt's amazing, Ghost. Really.â You say. âTastes just like the ones my mom would make.â You wipe at the tears in your eyes. âThank you for doing this.â
He shrugs, looking almost bashful. âIt's the least I could do. I know how big of a deal heats are to omegas and how nervous you've been. Thought you could use a little comfort.âÂ
You smile softly. âThat means a lot.â You can't help but giggle softly. âI knew you liked me deep down.â
He gives you a look, making you giggle even more. âDon't push it.âÂ

đčàŒâ§Â°đ đđžâȘâȘ
bf satoru x fem single mom reader
wc: 1.1k
â a pair of troublemakers residing in your house; both of whom are (unintentionally!) dead-set on making themselves the death of you.
"I don't like your stupid, white hair."Â
"And I don't like your boring, brown hair, buddy."
"W-well... well, I don't like your ugly, doo-doo face!"
"Your mama does."Â
The two could go bickering like this for hours on end if you let them. What may seem to be a mutually digressive arrangement is actually an oddly adorable bonding in disguise. Satoru and your son put on a front of being annoyed at the other's presence, but you've never seen them apart for longer than a few minutes at a time. They've grown on each other; much like how moss grows on a statue that's been lingering out in the open. An indispensable cycle of life that's truly inevitable.Â
"No, she doesn't! She doesn't! She likes... sof- sofis... sofistogated guys."
"You mean sophisticated?"
"Shut up!"Â
You'd been terrified that your little one wouldn't have a father-figure to rely on anymore after you divorced your husband. However, it was something you had to do for his sake. The child deserved to live in an environment that wasn't always reeking of alcohol, where he wasn't subjected to the constant, drunk yelling of a pathetic excuse of a father who couldn't get his shit together and lazed around at home all day while you did all the work. If that meant that you'd have to raise him on his own, then so be it. At least he'd be raised properly. Signing those papers was, by far, the easiest decision you'd ever made.Â
"I'm not shutting up because a kid in clothes too big for him is telling me to."
"You... you're the one always wearing tight clothes around the house to impress my mama."
"No, that's because I'm ripped. Gotta show off what I've got. And your mama loves that."Â
"Oh, yeah? That means you show off your... your - um... ugly, doo-doo face!"
Would you regard it a miracle that Satoru just so happened to stumble into your life around that very time? Well, relatively. Meeting him wasn't something you'd planned, nor anticipated. The kind stranger who offered to pay for your order at a cafĂ© a year ago has somehow, thanks to quite a romantic sequence of events, turned into your boyfriend; a rock to lean on for when you need the support. And, also, someone that your little one can look up to (with the fun, bonus benefit of the pair getting into silly, childish quarrels nine times out of ten). What is Satoru if not a three-hundred-and-thirty-six-month-old toddler, too? Puts your five-year-old to utter shame with the way he acts.Â
"Enough. Baby, we've been over this before. Behave."
"But, mama, he's being a meanie!" "But, babe, he's acting all pretentious."Â
The responses come simultaneously: one is high pitched and whiny, and the other is your son. Sometimes, you have to pause and ask yourself how you haven't gone insane yet. It's the love that keeps you from falling apart. How could you ever harbor any other feeling for these two, except for wanting to cherish them? You just... need to work on a pet name that doesn't apply to the both of them at once. Â
"I don't want to hear it. Sweetie, finish your lunch. And, Satoru?"Â
"Yes, honey-who-loves-me-and-my-'ugly, doo-doo'-face?" He's smirking, snickering, while saying this, the sly bastard. When will the pair ever relent on trying to one-up the other?Â
"Why have you got one of my hair ties on your wris- never mind. Don't forget to change the sheets in our room. I'd do it myself if not for the meeting I need to get to in an hour."Â
"Yes, ma'am."Â
Cue a tiny gasp.Â
"But, mama..." The voice of your little one breaks the peaceful silence at the dining table once again. His legs start kicking back and forth - a sign that he's growing restless - from the chair they're dangling off of. He's got a protest already forming up in that head of his. "Toru said he'd take me to the skate park today. And he promised to get ice cream after."
Toru, huh? That's new. You can't help the smile that paints itself on your lips. The two have been getting along pretty well, it seems, contrary to all the bickering they do. That's always nice to know. It's amusing to see the dynamic they've built. One second, they're riling each other up to no end, the next, they've already formed a secret alliance to go out and have fun together. How cute. "Is that so?"
"Mhm! So that means we need to leave riiight after I finish my lunch. Don't get mad, okay?"Â
It's the small things like these that warm your heart. Some sacrifices can be made if it's in regards to this adorable (step, even though you haven't married Satoru yet)father-son moment. The sheets are insignificant right now. "Awwh. Of course I won't get mad, baby. It's good for you to want to spend more time with Satoru. Isn't he a fun guy?"
"... maybe."Â
. . .Â
"Just make sure he's safe out there. Helmet and gear on at all times, no big ramps. And don't let him eat too much sugar. He'll get hyper. Once the rush dies down, he'll get cranky -"
Satoru's arm wraps around your waist before you can finish your sentence, pulling you overwhelmingly close to his frame. Instinctively, your arms move to wrap around his neck, just the way Satoru likes it. Oh, how he wants to just throw everything else out the window and drag you to the nearest room with a lock in place.
"You -" A quick peck to your lips, followed by a nibble on your bottom lip. "- worry -" Another peck. "- too -" Another. "- much." Then, an unexpected bite on the shell of your right ear. "I'd never allow myself to let that little demon get hurt; or hyper."
Large hands wander across the curve of your back, resting firm on your butt. Satoru doesn't want to expose your son to the way he's squeezing your plush flesh with his long digits, so he shifts to have your back pressed against the wall. A perfect opportunity to kiss you - which the man can't help but seize. What else is a smitten boyfriend to do while waiting for your son to get ready and come down from his room upstairs? Lips against lips until one of you pulls away for air. "He's safe with me, okay?"Â
"Okay."Â
"Atta girl. Now, you go to that meeting of yours. And, tonight, after we both get back-Â oww."
"Groooss! Don't kiss my mama, or you'll make her ugly! Like youuu!"
"Baby, no. Don't kick Satoru's ankles-"
"I'm saving you, mama."

Youâd been feeling weird lately.
It was a feeling that washed over you from time to time, causing you discomfort, yet you still couldnât place it. You tried to analyze the situation you were in when it appeared and figure out where it was coming from or what it was in general, but all your efforts were in vain. Something made you feel strange, and you didnât know what or why.
It was definitely not the life with your new pack. You joined it 6 months ago after Chanâs vehement coaxing. Youâd known him even before he became the alpha of his own pack, but after wandering around the world for several years and coming back to settle down, you found the citylife to be quite dangerous for a lone she-wolf. You didnât want to admit that you needed protection as you were more than capable of fighting your own fights, but after being constantly harassed on the daily by cocky members of various local packs, you didnât take much convincing. Chan was a good guy and a great laid-back leader, so you knew he didnât offer this with any ulterior motive in mind. Youâd have probably joined his pack even faster if not for one thing â it was full of men. And although you had no issues with young wolves with manners, being the only female wolf in the pack sounded questionable.
This made your mind blow up with questions and assumptions. What if they start harassing you as well? Chan would probably not allow that. What if they get overly possessive over you? You would probably not allow that either. What if you cannot handle living in the same space as them without any privacy? Well, you could always move back out⊠With the alphaâs permission.
Regardless of your reservations, Chan seemed relentless in his attempts to lure you in. You werenât too surprised by that. There was a bond that alphas shared with their pack members. Whenever you meet your alpha, you feel like you are on the same wavelength. Some alphas are so in-tune with their current or potential packmates that they can even sense it when they meet their future mate. They do not know whose mate it is necessarily, but they can sense that it might be one. Not every alpha is capable of that though, although most of them can at least tell whether you are a good fit for their pack or not. Chan was quick to pass his judgement and inform you with all sincerity that you definitely belonged with his pack and had to trust his gut on this.
So, you did.
And you were completely stunned with the way it had turned out. You were guarded and cautious when you first joined. But the guys were actually so friendly and so welcoming that you felt at home mere days later. It was like they were your little brothers, whom youâd been living with your entire life. Sure, they were a bit awkward with you at first, but after the adaptation period was over, you were all set with your new family.
They took care of you, and you cared for them as well. You helped Minho and Yongbok cook dinner, bought art supplies for Hyunjin, scolded Changbin whenever he was too harsh on Han and helped them make up, looked after the maknaes and made sure they were not getting into trouble. You were also giving Chan a piece of your mind whenever he pulled all-nighters, too busy with his work, and then snapped at his poor pack members for interacting with him at the wrong time. At some point you managed to have him come back to his senses and remember to get at least 5 hours of sleep every night to prevent himself from turning into a wild beast.
Everything was going great until last week, when you finally noticed that the mood swings that bothered you for a few months now, were actually getting worse. You blamed it on the insomnia that youâd been suffering from lately. After all, youâd seen Chan becoming overly sensitive to everything after being sleep-deprived, but you had no idea what was making you so stressed. You had no issues within the pack, and your life outside was also pretty solid too. Now that you had your brothers around, no one was brave enough to walk up to you and challenge your bodily integrity unless they wanted to compromise their own. Despite you being older, your brothers took your protection seriously. When you joining the pack was not that widely known, there had been a few incidents that lead to physical altercations. And despite thinking that being told to sit down and let the boys handle this shit would make you angry, you actually felt giddy instead. They didnât belittle your abilities in any way, but each and every one of them was the first in line to protect your honor. You appreciated their brotherly love towards you more than youâd care to admit. So much so, that you didnât say anything to them, when their extensive protection made most wolves steer clear of you whenever they met you out and about.
And even as your behavior started to shift lately, they quickly picked up on that too. Yongbok and Changbin kept asking you if anything had happened. Minho made your favorite spicy pasta, which almost no one could handle apart from you two, and maybe Jeongin as well. Seungmin and Han tried to make you laugh with their silly antics. And yet, your bad mood did not lift for long.
Today you stayed home with Hyunjin, and he asked if you wanted to get some fresh air and join him on his way to a new art exhibition at the gallery downtown. You latched onto this opportunity to shake the dust off of yourself and maybe alter your mood with the help of this public outing, hoping that it might bring you some welcomed attention. With that in mind, youâd put a little too much effort into dressing up, which you realized only when your companion gave you a puzzled onceover. But when you asked if you looked inappropriate, he shook his head. Hyunjin wasnât a man of many words most of the time, he only became talkative whenever he was drunk or simply in the mood for long chats. After a short âyou look beautifulâ that made you feel a ping of this confusing emotional response inside you, he motioned for you to follow him outside.
However, after a few hours strutting from one installation to another in your incredibly unreasonable high heels, you became tired and capricious. To the point when you almost cried when Hyunjin sat you down on the bench outside one of the exhibition halls and disappeared for a few minutes, only to return with a pair of flat slippers. You whined that there was no way you would be seen next to him looking this ugly, and he hummed, crouching down in front of you and removing your shoes at once. He rummaged through his Versace bag and got a band-aid out, plastering it over an aching spot on your foot. While you were watching him, barely containing a shiver from the tickle of his breathing over your knee, he carefully inserted your feet into the slippers and grabbed your shoes in one hand, offering you to hold onto his arm. When you stood up, he couldnât help but crack a dimpled smile, patting your head affectionately. After walking around in your insane high heels for hours, you now acutely felt how small you were next to him. It was a thought that made you flustered for no reason, so you frowned and made your way to the elevator, trying to seem like you were in a hurry to get back home.
A car ride home was unbearable. Your feelings were all over the place again. One moment you were grateful to Hyunjin for his attentiveness, the other you were mad at him for acting like your partner when he clearly wasnât, and a second later you would be on the verge of crying for having no prospects of finding one either. Having no mate at your age was bothering you so much more than it shouldâve, and at some point you managed to convince yourself that you didnât care if you missed him earlier in life. Shit happens, you thought. Not everyone spent their lives with their mates, and even if you didnât want to settle for less, at some point you might have to. And while considering this dreadful future, you had even decided that you would start going out with humans later. Dating a wolf who could very well meet their mate months or years down the line and becoming tossed to the side would be a traumatizing experience, so you vowed to avoid it at all costs. Even if your love life would be frowned upon by most other wolves, who did not consider humans to be valid partners.
These thoughts did not add positivity to your attitude, and by the time you came home, your mood was so sour that you barely acknowledged Jeongin in the living room, heading straight to the bathroom on your floor. You threw your clothes around as you got them off and removed your jewelry. Even wiping your makeup off was a chore that made you angry, so you stepped into the water almost boiling with frustration.
Taking an entire hour to finish your routine, you relocated to your room, throwing your pajamas on before crawling under the blanket. It was way too early to go to bed, but you hated the idea of being outside of your room when you had no grip on your emotions whatsoever. Snapping at your brothers, who were innocent in the matter, was not an option you were willing to explore. And it was not their fault that these thoughts and feelings suddenly came over you at random. So you stayed in, huffing and puffing for at least another half an hour, until you were interrupted by a knock on your door.
âCan I come in?â You heard Hyunjin ask from the other side of the door.
You didnât want him to, but you also didnât want to turn him away.
âCome in.â
He slowly opened it, peeking inside before seeping fully into your room. His head cocked to the side as he took in your state.
âAre you feeling well?â He asked, approaching you carefully.
You shrugged, mumbling that you were fine. His nose twitched as he clearly checked if anything would be given away by your scent.
âAre you sure?â He asked, taking a seat on your bed.
It wasnât unusual, the closeness he allowed himself, yet it made you even more unstable than you were before.
âI donât know, Jinnie.â You whined, kicking the blanket up with one foot. âIâm a mess.â
He furrowed his thick dark eyebrows.
âWhat do you mean?â
You pouted, feeling the frustration rise again.
âI donât knowâŠâ You repeated, sounding like you were about to cry now.
On a whim, you scooted closer to him and threw yourself forward to hug him. Overcoming the initial shock, Hyunjin reciprocated with a tight embrace. His hands were gently patting your back, and it seemed like he had nothing against the physical contact.
âIâm sorry,â you muttered into his collarbone and tried to pry yourself away from him. âI know you donât like skinship that much-â
âDonât worry about that, noona.â He cut you off, dragging you back into himself.
You sat like that for a few minutes, and you calmed down a little, too focused on his heartbeat under your ear. There was also something else that youâd noticed.
âJinnie,â you inhaled deeply. âYou smell⊠nice.â
He froze, still holding you in his arms, and his Adamâs apple bobbing indicated that he was in a state of utter disarray.
âWhat do you-â
The door into your room flew open, and Jeongin invited himself in.
âWhy are you making a cuddle nest without me? You know I am the best candidate to make you feel better, noona!â
He jumped on the bed, making you huff in amusement.
âSee? Youâre already smiling.â He wrapped his arms around your bicep and continued. âLet go of this hyung, I am all you need.â
Hyunjin raised his eyebrow, likely feeling competitive after this comment.
And for the next ten minutes, they were busy fighting for your attention.
âIt mustâve been you,â Jeongin nagged at the older wolf. âShe spent the whole day with you and came back angry. I am pretty sureâŠâ
âItâs not. Iâve been in a weird mood lately, thatâs all.â
âOh?â He perked up from your thigh, where heâd been resting his head. âWeird how? Donât tell me-â
âWhat?â You and Hyunjin asked in unison.
âAre you like⊠frustrated?â
âI am,â you nodded, misunderstanding his question.
âYou know what I mean? Like⊠sexually?â
At this, you opened your mouth, completely offended by the suggestion.
âWhat the hell?â You shoved him in the shoulder, trying to get him off of your thigh.
âNo, but that would be so great,â he told you despite the commotion. âBecause itâs not that hard to solve.â
âYeah right.â You grumbled, making both wolves look at you. âWhat? I am not admitting to anything!â
âYou donât have to, my face is inches away from the only thing about you that is truthful right now,â the youngest noted without a care.
Hissing, you shoved him off, pulling the blanket over your knees again.
âWhat? Itâs only the truth.â He rolled his eyes at your reaction. âJust get someone to fuck you and youâll be alright.â
You sighed.
âYeah, âcause thatâs so easy.â
Jeongin sat up.
âWhat do you mean? If itâs not easy for you, whoâs it easy for?â
âSomeone who doesnât have a few wolf brothers to rip into anyone looking their way?â
âWe only rip into assholes who bother you,â Hyunjin interjected.
âRight. And the non-assholes watch that and think, âoh great, Iâd love to hit that after theyâre done with the other guyâ. Sure.â
âIf they think like that they donât need to be hitting that anyway.â He replied curtly, and you pouted again.
âRemind me again why you were surprised I cannot get laid?â
âYou shouldnât give yourself over to guys like that, noona.â Hyunjin pressed.
âAgreed. You could always ask someone else for help. Like, Iâd definitely help the hell out of you right now,â Jeongin said, reaching your thigh with his hand and squeezing it.
âThen you better do that, because I am already planning to get a tinder account and grab me some human!â You suddenly confessed, startling both of the wolves.
âYouâre- what??â Hyunjin gasped in your ear.
âI didnât think you were actually that desperate, noonaâŠâ Jeongin muttered, licking his lips. âBut I can deliver on my offer, if you really mean it.â
You swallowed under the scrutiny of the two pairs of eyes, and leaned back into Hyunjin, suddenly feeling weak from the stress of it. In any other state you mightâve been able to think it through and decline. But right now you suddenly had no care for the consequences of your actions.
âDo it.â You exhaled, watching the youngest wolf purse his lips to contain his excitement.
Before you allowed yourself to think about the current chain of events, you grabbed Hyunjinâs arms and wrapped them tighter around your frame. For some reason, you didnât want him to go either.
âAre you sure about this?â He asked in your ear, and you shivered from his hot breath.
You turned to give him a reassuring nod.
âItâs easy to give into temptation when youâre vulnerable. We canât take advantage of that,â he continued, brushing a strand of your hair to the side.
You felt overwhelmed by his comment, but then the youngest inserted himself into this exchange.
âAre you that scared of Chan?â He chuckled.
âChan? What does he have to do with anything?â You asked in confusion, while they were throwing daggers at each other with their eyes.
âBecause hyung told us in graphic terms that heâd rip our faces off if we tried to coerce you into something like that.â
âWhat the hell??â
âMy thoughts exactly. I think youâre the one coercing me into getting down for you, noona,â he smiled, playing with the hem of your pajama shorts.
âWhy would he say that though?â You asked Hyunjin this time.
âI donât know. I guess he didnât want you to be uncomfortable around us?â
That made sense, sort of. But you werenât sure if that was simply due to your reluctance about joining an all-male pack, or if there was something else going on. Jeonginâs hand dipping between your thighs disrupted your already flailing thought process.
Hyunjin growled lowly, warning him, and he looked at you for approval.
âTake them off,â you told him, and he smiled, tugging your shorts off immediately.
âNoonaâŠâ Hyunjin protested hoarsely, but you squeezed his forearm.
âI am the one initiating this. Forget whatever Chan told you.â
âItâs not about what-â
âI want you here. Do you want to stay?â You asked him, and his grip on you tightened, as if you could kick him out for real.
âYes.â
âThen stop nagging. And kiss me.â
He looked down at your mouth and swallowed, leaning in.
âShit noona, you are soakedâŠâ The youngest distracted both of you with his eagerness. âDo you always wear such skimpy underwear at home? I could fuck you without taking it off.â
Before you answered, he pulled the item of clothing to the side and ran two fingers between your wet folds. Without wasting anymore time for chitchat, he leaned in, attaching his lips to your pussy.
âAh fuck!â You jolted, steadied by the arms around you.
In fact, Hyunjinâs iron hold made it even more egregious.
Jeongin made it known that he was enjoying himself, humming into you as he licked and sucked your sensitive flesh. You could feel his spit drip down to your hole, and clenched around nothing, clawing at Hyunjinâs forearm.
âInnie, shitâŠâ You cursed, looking down at his fluffy head between your legs.
He seemed pleased by the feedback he was receiving, so he started alternating between various techniques. When he switched to quick sharp licks up your slit, you started shaking.
You threw your head back, bumping into Hyunjinâs shoulder. He was still tense, and you turned your head to inhale his familiar scent that calmed you down before.
âJinnie, please touch me,â you begged, trying to move one of his hands onto your breast.
His nose brushed against yours, and you felt his plush lips connect with the corner of your mouth. Grabbing him by the hair on the back of his head, you pushed him closer. He growled, mouth crashing on yours, and slipped his tongue inside it aggressively. When you felt his hand sneak under your pajama top to grab your boob, you whimpered loudly. His other hand pressed down on your belly, and Jeongin suddenly flicked your clit with his tongue, sucking it into his mouth harshly.
You cried out, trembling in Hyunjinâs grasp. You were too sensitive to withstand such an attack.
âInnie, donât stop- Iâm-â You sobbed, grabbing onto Hyunjinâs hand over your breast. âIâm cumming-â
The older one bit onto your ear gently before giving it a short lick, and your eyes rolled back into your head. Jeongin was still assaulting your nub, and your long animalistic wail was probably heard outside.
You were still breathless when you felt someone lift your hips, removing your underwear.
âGive her a break,â you heard Hyunjin say sternly.
You squeezed his bicep, causing him to divert his attention.
âDonât,â you shook your head weakly. âI want to.â
Just a moment later, you felt Jeongin prod at your entrance. You whined as he inserted himself into you, barely having enough time to adjust before he began rutting into you.
âFuck, noona⊠You have a- a perfect pussy,â he noted, sounding strained. âAh shit-â
Despite being just a year apart with Hyunjin, Innie was still quite young and impressionable. You could tell how overly excited and aroused he got from going down on you, and you felt it in his abrupt thrusts that he was not going to last at all. But you didnât mind.
You panted, the aftershocks of your previous release rekindling by the continuous slapping of skin against your pussy, and Jeongin began fucking you even harder.
But at this point you got too distracted by the heavy breathing in your ear. Hyunjin wasnât even the one inside you, and yet, he was still the one making you go insane. You wanted to cry from his proximity, because he was close but still not close enough.
You squeezed his thigh and moved your palm to the side, finding his long, hard cock.
âJinnieâŠâ You mumbled, frantically shoving your hand down his pants.
His hips jerked forward as you grabbed his thick flesh.
You desperately, desperately wanted him inside. And he knew.
âDonât cum inside her,â he told the younger one, who was definitely close to his orgasm, and shoved him with his foot.
You felt him slip out, cursing his hyung, who quickly flipped you around. Jeongin tugged your hips up to put you on all fours, and shoved himself inside you again. Your face was pressed to Hyunjinâs flexing abs while he fucked you from behind feverishly. With all the thoughts vanishing from your dazed brain, you resorted to kissing and licking the skin over his taut stomach and using your nails to leave shallow marks as he stroked your head slowly. The maknaeâs fingers dug deeper into the supple flesh of your thighs as he came to the verge of his release.
âDid you hear what I said?â Hyunjin suddenly growled, loud and clear this time. âGet your ass over there and watch.â
Your skin was all covered in goosebumps from the commanding tone of his voice. You wanted him to use it on you as well, just so that you could defy him. Fuck around and find out.
But Jeongin was a good boy, so he did as he was told. As soon as he slipped out, you got pulled up the bed again. Hyunjin put almost his entire weight onto your back, making your elbows and knees give out. That seemed to be exactly what he wanted, and his dick slipped into your tight hole easily while you were lying flat on the bed. You moaned as his body moved in a wave-like motion, merging with yours completely. It wasnât clear whether Hyunjin was that much bigger than Jeongin, or it was the position adding to it, but you felt so full that it made your pussy quiver helplessly.
âPlease, JinnieâŠâ You whined, as his hips continued to snap forward. âMake me cumâŠâ
He quickly pulled out, rolling you over like a ragdoll, and folded you in half, continuing to pound you into the mattress. You heard Jeongin moan from his spot on the chair, where he was watching you from. But you were too engaged to even try and pay attention to him, although you were sure that he was jerking himself off right now.
Hyunjin was destroying your pussy with methodical slaps, and you felt your big orgasm build again. You were going to cum so hard, you just knew it.
âMhm, deeperâŠâ You pleaded, your vision blurring as he hit so deep that your pleasure was beginning to hurt.
âDo you want- want me to- want my cum?â He asked, not slowing down at all.
âFuck, JinnieâŠâ
You thrashed underneath him, causing him to let go of your legs, unfolding you, and lie on top of you. His pelvis snapped back-and-forth fluidly, and you made eye contact, catching his feral gaze that likely mirrored your own.
âFill meâŠâ You choked on your words. âFuck, I want it- inside me-â
As your orgasm washed over your body, you completely lost it. All control over your actions slipped away from you, and you bit into his flesh that was closest to you, piercing his bicep with your teeth. You pulled back almost immediately, but before you could say anything, Hyunjin reciprocated, grabbing your arm and sinking his own teeth into your wrist.
With the added tinge of pain, you were still shaking violently when his cum flooded your insides. You wailed and screamed every time he thrusted, with his skin slapping against yours, until his cum started gushing out of you. When he stilled, you were on the verge of losing consciousness. The tightness in your hole kept you there, and you swallowed the salty taste of his blood, slowly realizing what just happened.
âDammit, hyung! You knotted her?â You heard Jeongin come to his senses before you two.
âFuck off.â
Hyunjin didnât sound like heâd let anyone mess with him right now, and it sent a tight pulse through your core. He watched Jeongin flee the room as he ran his tongue over his teeth, obviously aware of your bodyâs reactions to him. Licking his bloody red lips, he sobered himself up.
âYou fucking marked me,â he told you, as if you didnât already know.
âI didnât- didnât mean to-â You tried to justify breathlessly, fidgeting slightly. âIt just felt so good that IâŠâ
âStop talking. I canât move, and you make me want to rip into you all over again.â
You pursed your lips as your pussy quivered around his rock hard knot once more, making your eyes tear up. Everything about him was sending you into overdrive, and you had no idea what to do with yourself. It suddenly dawned on you that this was exactly what you wanted this entire time, and you had no idea that it was making you frustrated. Not even realizing that your mate was right next door, quite literally. You couldâve had him months ago, but you were too preoccupied by other things in life like trying to build a family bond with your new pack to see what fell right into your lap, quite literally. The only wolf you needed.
âJ-JinnieâŠâ
His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration as he held his hips steady.
âBaby. If you move even an inch-â He sighed, pressing his forehead to yours. âIf you cum again, it will only prolong thisâŠâ
âBut I- I want to!â You whined, wiggling your hips. âPlease, itâs so bigâŠâ
âNo.â
âHyunjin!â
âI said no.â
The authority in his voice made your toes curl.
âFuck,â he growled, jerking forward involuntarily as he felt you fall apart again. âYouâre not gonna stop until you get yourself pregnant, are you?â
You sobbed, unable to snatch yourself out of the excruciatingly long orgasm.
Hyunjin pressed as deep into you as he could, trying to hold you completely still, and the tip of his cock brushed against your cervix. At this point you simply blacked out from the intensity of the pleasure, regaining your perception of reality only when your partnerâs girth finally began deflating in your overstimulated pussy.
âAre you back?â He asked, voice a bit gruff but not low and menacing anymore.
It made warmth spread out in your chest as you nodded.
âDoes anything hurt?â
You shook your head first, and then nodded after noticing his expression.
âIt must hurt. I told you not to move, baby.â Although he was admonishing you, it didnât stop him from pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead. âGive me a couple more minutes and itâll be done.â
âOkay,â you mumbled, not that eager to let him go â he was your newly found mate, after all.
But your fragile intimacy was crushed by the loud voices in the hallway.
âWhat the fuck did I tell you all about doing shit like that to her? I donât care who-â
Chan burst through the door, stopping in his tracks.
âAre you still going at it?!â He asked, not fazed by the fact that Hyunjin was naked and on top of you.
After he tugged the blanket up to cover your bodies fully and turned to face his alpha, Chan gasped.
âDonât tell me- itâs you, isnât it?? Sheâs your mate, right?â He sounded more excited than angry now. âI knew it! I told you that you absolutely had to join-â
âHyung,â Hyunjin cleared his throat, not even trying to sound apologetic. âWeâre otherwise preoccupied, as you might see.â
Thankfully, he couldnât see under the covers, and your mateâs body also shielded yours from the other wolfâs eyes, but you were still dying of embarrassment.
âOh- right. Wait, are you locked- You know what, nevermind. Keep going. I mean, finish up. I mean-â
âOh gosh, Chanie hyung!â Yongbok groaned, grabbing him by the wrist and tugging him into the hallway before shutting the door. âLet them be.â
As their voices became less and less distinguishable, Hyunjin looked into your eyes, seemingly reading your thoughts.
âNo, heâs never going to shut up about it,â he replied before you asked. âBut Iâm still grateful that he convinced you to join the pack. Thank you for taking him up on his offer.â
His last words made him tense, thinking back to someone else you took up on his offer.
âYouâre going to snap Innieâs neck, arenât you?â
âYouâre fucking right.â
âJinnieâŠâ

luke castellan x aphrodite!reader (pt2 here)
content/trigger warnings: fem! reader, doesnât follow the plot of tlt!, mentions of smut, sexual tension, manipulation?, groping, reader making luke jealous
a/n: the show has once again sparked up my love for the percy jackson book saga and charlie bushnell has me weakkk ughhh.. i normally donât write for pjo characters but oh well, lmk if yâall want a continuation of this or just more luke castellan in general ;)
you had always been so used to being the center of attention. as a daughter of aphrodite, you had always been the most popular girl in school, and there was no shortage of boys falling for your charms
arriving at camp half-blood didn change that, nothing was different. except that, for the first time in your life, you found yourself chasing after the attention of a certain boy. luke castellan, the son of hermes and the head counselor of his cabin, he just wouldnât fawn over you like the others would. despite your best efforts, luke had always remained indifferent to your constant flirting, leaving you feeling frustrated and determined to change his mind
you found yourself spending every waking moment trying to get his attention, trying to find some way to charm him and make him see you the way the other boys did. but no matter how hard you tried, luke remained distant and unimpressed
this week you were extremely busy, you were helping out in the infirmary, one of the apollo kids who usually worked in the infirmary had been sent on a quest and you were asked to fill in until they came back. juggling that with all your other responsibilities as counselor had you beyond occupied
during that week, annabeth barged in with two other guys; percy and luke. apparently their sparring session had gone a little out of hand and they were both injured
luke was already aware of how youâve been trying to get his attention these past few years. he actually seems to quite like having you, the most fawned over girl at camp, fawning over him instead. he liked the attention you gave him, though he knew that if he ever gave in to your charms you would stop, so he didnât
he was fully prepared and expected you to be the one to tend to him, so when he sees you head to percy and tend to him while an apollo girl tended to him he was confused
what happened? why would you choose percy over him? weâre you tired of him? did you give up on trying to win him over? lukeâs confusion quickly turned to frustration, and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as he watched you tend to percyâs wounds
"how are you feeling, percy?" you asked, giving him a warm smile, one that always had the boys weak in the knees. "n-not great, but iâll manage" he laughed awkwardly, suddenly nervous. you put your hand on his shoulder, giving it a small squeeze "oh, iâm sure youâll liveâ
out of the corner of your eye, you saw luke. he was watching you, watching the way you cared for percy. this was the first time you had ever caught him staring at you with such intensity
so youâre plan was working. you had tried everything to get his attention and you had only one trick left in your arsenal; jealosy. no boy is immune to jealousy, and that was exactly how you were gonna get him
in the end, all you had to do was throw some water at percy and he was good to go. luke though, he had to spend the night in the infirmary
the other apollo kid had left a few minutes ago, something about âhaving other things to doâ. so it was just luke and you in the infirmary. you walk over to luke's bed and start tending to his wounds
âoh so now you wanna take care of me? how nice of youâ he speaks, sarcasm dripping from his words. âyou can tough it out, can't you?" you tease, dabbing away at his cuts with an alcohol-soaked cotton ball. luke is watching you intently and you can feel the tension in the room increasing, his eyes fixated on your hands as you work
lukeâs eyes narrow, and you can see the rage boiling beneath the surface. heâs frustrated, jealous, and he doesn't know what to do with all these emotions. youâve never seen him like this before, and it's a thrill to know that you have the power to make him feel this way
you try to ignore the tense atmosphere in the room, focusing instead on luke's wounds. you finish cleaning and bandaging the cut on his wrist, holding it up to your face to land a soft kiss on the bandages. âall doneâ you whisper. he tenses at the feeling of your soft lips, and you can see the anger in his eyes. however, you can also see a hint of something elseâ desire
you look up at him with a smile, knowing that you've got him right where you want him. his eyes are locked on your every movement. you know that you have him wrapped around your finger, and it's a delicious feeling of power
lukeâs expression is one of confusion, a mix of rage and desire. he wants you, and he wants to hate you at the same time. itâs a weird combo, but it's working for you.
you lean closer to him, your lips inches away from each other. you can feel his breath on your skin, the heat of his body as he's lying there
"youâre not stopping me" you state, breaking the silence. itâs a quiet, soft whisper, filled with a tiny bit of amusement
"maybe.. maybe i donât want you to stop" he says, his eyes locked on yours, voice low and husky. you can see the desire building in him, how his gaze trails down to your lips
lukeâs breathing quickened, and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. he knew that this was a game for you, a game where you would always be determined to win him over, but now, in this very moment, he felt like he was losing
he lets out a hiss of frustration, of desire, of... something. heâs sure knows that you're proud of it, but heâs not quite sure what to do about it
you leaned in for the kiss, your lips pressing gently against his, your hand running through his hair. you could feel his body tensing, his hands gripping your waist as he attempted to pull you on top of him
you pull away from the kiss slowly, your lips still pressed to his. luke is still trying to catch his breath, his eyes fixed on yours, searching for any hint of what your next move will be
"not bad" you whisper. "youâre playing a dangerous game hereâ he chuckles lowly, making your lower regions throb. you smirk softly and brush his hair out of his face âiâll take my chancesâ
despite being injured, he pulls you on top of him, making you realize just how hard heâs been this whole time. his eyes are dark, and you can see the lust burning within them
you lean in for another kiss, this one soft and gentle. luke groans when he feels you grind against him, his hands moving down to grab hold of your ass
âi need you sâbadâ he mutters out. you smirk as you slide off him, making him furrow his brows in confusion. you land a soft kiss on his cheek. âletâs do this when youâre not injuredâ you whisper in his ear. now he was alone and hard in the infirmary, how nice
