fmab (+03) fic masterlist
because even i’m starting to lose track of what i’ve posted so far. all writing is eventually crossposted to ao3, individual tumblr posts linked below the cut because it’s lengthy as hell
(this is like 85% post-promised day fic with the occasional canon-divergence au for flavour, ft lots of resembool kids, riza, and roy. basically gen with near-zero ship content because that’s how i roll)
update: total wordcount has now broken 20k 25k 30k 35k 40k 45k(!!!!)
update 2: now with crumbs of 03 content because yeehaw

“Actually, Winry – can you do something for me?”
“Lieutenant. Would you ever consider learning alchemy?”
“I guess I just – want to figure out who I am. Me, not the Fullmetal Alchemist.”
Besides, the scars on his palms have been – pardon his language – hurting like a bitch ever since he woke to this gloomy weather this morning.
Ishval had given him plenty of practice at that soldier’s art of taking even the lightest of naps whenever circumstances permitted.
[au] Ed has never had reason to hate how swiftly his mind works, not until now.
It’s just simple clerical error that leads to Edward Elric retaining his title and pay as a State Alchemist, even after the Promised Day. No, really.
may
He’s just tired, not about to collapse.
These days Ed’s journals are actual proper travelogues, no coded shit or anything.
[au] It doesn’t even start until after they arrive in Resembool.
(can’t have been the more socially-adjusted brother, obviously.)
[au] “I don’t,” Ed bites out, “know any damn alchemists.”
Maes raises an eyebrow and sloshes his near-empty cup pointedly.
august
[wip] “Is this about Al, or you?”
“–of course I know these aren’t the most efficient routes!”
Ed seriously considers dyeing his hair more than once, in the After.
Winry only needs a glimpse of red to know what it must be.
Rush Valley talks. Winry listens.
Much as Al loves his brother to itty-bitty-and-very-shouty pieces,
The first time someone mistakes Al for the Fullmetal Alchemist,
+ The thing is, Al gets it.
“Brother told me that you told him about Ishval,” Alphonse says.
It’s an honest observation – as honest as he can ever get, at least –
[au] In another world, she is never named the Hawk’s Eye.
“Somehow I doubt your place is much better, sir.”
would it be the most impossible thing to have happened to the Elrics?
“I can’t believe he didn’t tell us,” Ed growls,
a minimum age limit on all candidates for the State Alchemist exam.
“There’s gotta be a shark somewhere around.”
The Elrics make transmuting without circles look easy.
The problem, if Riza is to put it into words,
Al completely botches the first dozen or so transmutations
(Ed? Talking about automail? Over food?)
[au] in the end it’s Al who really takes after their father.
“Fullmetal realising his celebrity status? Woe betide us,”
The tea is actually well-made, first of all, not burnt
“Not like– I mean, personal about me, not you!”
[au] “Huh,” Al says.
Still less work than getting entropy-murdered by Olivier, he decides.
[au] It’s not every dead person that he sees.
[au] They weren’t even meant to stop in Resembool.
Jean just wants to make one thing – okay, a few things – very clear.
Ed knows this firsthand from too much Winry exposure.
The lump on the couch lets out a string of wholly intelligible noises.
september
“Take me out to dinner,” Riza says.
“We’re not even in Amestris, though.”
[au] Riza had been angry too, when she had let herself be, but hers is a cold ire, locked beneath glaciers and the burn of frostbite. Wrath makes no such pretences.
[outline] But in the case of Fullmetal – more specifically in the case of Fullmetal and Youswell – Roy mostly wishes he could unknow things.
[au] Roy forces enough air into his lungs to get the words out. “You’re dead.”
[outline…?] winry’s gonna like this, al says.
Alphonse flaps a hand. “Oh, because it’s complete bullshit.”
“Y’know, you really aren’t that tall, Brother.”
getting to finally keep a cat hadn’t been very high on his list of priorities.
[au] “Edward. Get out of here, take Envy with you.”
[wtnv au] “Welcome to Resembool.”
october
just because you’re immortal doesn’t mean you can’t die from food poisoning, young man.
[au snippet] It’s sort of a belief, in the eastern parts of Amestris,
[03] Al’s hug is the first real thing he’s felt in years.
[03] Never thought you were, Ed retorts lightly, and lets Alfons turn away with a huff.
“When you said to come visit you in Rush Valley this is not what I was expecting!”
(and jeez, only Ed would manage to make it necessary to keep a kit on hand for actual minor-to-major catastrophes during a semi-honeymoon trip)
november
[03] Except the sight of his brother only serves to make everything worse, for once.
[au] The worst thing about this is that it’s not even equivalent.
[au] “You wanna know why? The real reason, not the quantum bullshit I fed Mustang.” (+ more in the tag)
[snippet] And just for that I won’t be leaving Wrath any.
“I shall finally exact the decisive vengeance that I have always dreamed of,” Scar booms right back before Armstrong can even ask,
Al knows from the moment he wakes up that it’s going to be a good day.
[snippets] The real disaster comes when Ed learns how to weaponise his height.
[03 au] The man in the brown overcoat. That’s all anyone ever seems able to recall of Edward.
[au] They say the Elric house is haunted. Of course. Empty houses are always haunted.
Of course, this assumes that said person is an alchemist of some ability, and that said life has been one of some loss and strife.
“Are you alright? Nod for yes, swear at me for no.”
from the intervening pause he surmises Riza is jotting something down on the notepad she keeps by the phone.
She’s been looking forward to the day when her hair finally gets long enough to – well, no longer be short.
“Remind me of this the next time I decide to trust Ling any further than I can throw him.” ( + xing tag)
december
Ed’s almost twenty when he realises that Hawkeye must’ve been around his age when she was deployed to Ishval.
[au] At least this far out from Amestris Ed could mostly brush the first one off as an interplanetary translation fuckup.

soo you got into BC?? is it good? :eyes:
Anon you have no idea how happy this ask made me! I finally have an excuse to ramble abt Black Clover! I started reading BC cuz I needed a distraction from the frustration of BNHA and the angst of JJK and I def got what I needed XD.
Black Clover feels like a combination of Naruto, Bleach and Fairy Tail and as someone that grew up w/ all 3 BC makes me very nostalgic lol.
I’m putting the rest under a read more cuz it got really long lol
Now before I get into what I like abt BC I want to give a few warnings:
Don’t go into BC expecting something “revolutionary”, it’s a shounen that gives you all your favorite shounen tropes and that’s it (for the most part). It’s a manga that pays homage to its predecessors and while there is definitely potential for some great unique storylines within BC I don’t think the author will take that leap (though I’m very open to being proven wrong pls Takeba take a page out of FMA and give me a Clover revolution arc 🙏 pls im begging the Spade arc has given us the perfect setup TAKE THE LEAP TAKEBA IM BEGGING)
There’s fanservice. It’s not obnoxious imo but it’s there :/ Also there’s a character that’s heavily implied to euh… “love” his kid sister and it’s treated like comic relief. Thankfully that character gets some development but his borderline pedo incestuous feelings are always treated as a joke and never addressed seriously :////
Imo BC has a bit of a “slow start”. I know it seems bizarre to say that given that BC has a very fast pace (which I really appreciate personally) but the manga didn’t hook me till chapter 60 or so (the Sunken Temple arc). But once you get passed that point holy shit this manga starts to shine!
Ok now it’s time to list the things I like abt BC:
Like I mentioned earlier BC’s fast pace works in its favor and makes it a very bingeable manga (I was legit reading 50-60 chapters per day, which I never do, cuz I couldn’t put it down lol).
The art in the manga is great and that’s why I really recommend reading the manga instead of watching the anime. The anime really fucked with the pacing and added a lot of unnecessary filler at the start *. Thankfully where I’m at now in the anime (episode 35) they fixed the pacing issue but the other big problem is that since BC is animated by the ever so infamous Studio Pierrot, the animation quality is very inconsistent. However, like in Nardo and Bleach, Studio Pierrot really pulls out all the stops when it comes to fight scenes so I would recommend watching some of the fights on youtube after reading them in the manga. Also the openings in BC are fucking bops especially op 1 and 13 (tho be careful there’s a lot of spoilers in the OPs)
* I put an asterisk cuz I don’t think the filler is bad per se but it does fuck w/ the flow of the show imo. I do appreciate that the anime expanded certain characters and their relationships (ie. Asta and Yuno’s relationship and Magna’s backstory). So I would recommend checking out the fillers featuring your fav characters after you’ve read the manga.
While the characters aren’t anything special (barring a few exceptions) they work really well as an ensemble cast and have great character designs (imo). The Black Bulls have the best dynamic in the manga and I really appreciate that they get their chances to shine as a team. The Black Bulls is where you can see the Fairy Tail influences cuz at first glance they’re very much a copy-pasted Fairy Tail guild however unlike FT, and excuse me for the upcoming FT salt, their bonds are actually believable. We see the Black Bulls take missions together and go above and beyond for one another which makes their strong friendship believable. The author actually shows us how strong their bond is instead of just telling us, unlike certain other mangas *glares at FT* (ok that’s it for the FT salt I’m done I swear).
The female characters actually develop and get to fight. Yeah I know that’s a low bar but it’s still refreshing to see lol. Takeba does have a tendency to give all the female characters a crush on a guy but it doesn’t feel annoying cuz their lives don’t revolve around their “love interests”... unlike other shows *glances mournfully at Sakura and Hinata*
Now I want to talk abt Asta however in order for me to talk about what I love abt Asta (and why we need to shove him into BNHA) I need to talk abt slight manga spoilers (namely chapter 73 and 86) so fair warning:
Chapter 73 gives us the aftermath of the biggest fight in the manga at that point. Asta puts flowers on the makeshift grave of his enemy and he openly states that he can’t forgive them, which is understandable given all the people they hurt and killed, but Asta takes a moment to reflect on what drove his enemy to that point.
Tumblr media
And when he’s confronted with that enemy's comrade he stops mid-fight and tries to open a dialogue to understand why they’re fighting.
Tumblr media
These moments highlight one of Asta key characteristics: he genuinely tries to understand and empathize with his enemies and he believes that everyone deserves a second chance (which we see come to a head in chapter 200). This is ultimately what makes me love Asta as a protagonist and why we should transport him into BNHA and let him talk to the LOV.
Now at this point in the manga Asta hasn’t acknowledged the systemic factor and how corrupt Clover kingdom actually is but I’m cautiously optimistic? I don’t see how else Asta’s character arc could go? (tho we did think the same thing abt Naruto and look where that got us T_T)
TLDR
Basically if you’re shounen trash (like me), like fast paced shows with good fights and don’t go in with high expectations I think you’ll enjoy Black Clover! :D
If I haven’t convinced you to check out BC that’s fine but I want you to look at this baby before you go
Tumblr media
Look at him he’s adorable!!! 🥺🥺🥺

Note
As far as Im aware Snk arcs are all generally around just under 20 chapters. Uprising being an exception since instead of ending it at the arcs end point in chapter 69 the anime instead shoved 3 extra chapters in. Is that why this Season had so many cuts? Is the next half of the season going to have a similar amount of cuts? If all the arcs are generally around the same length I'm so confused as to why this happened to this arc and whether it's happened to any of the previous ones before?
…I really like the anime. It is what got me into the series. I am what you would call a fan. I sometimes can be coaxed into admitting I like the manga, when it isn’t inspiring rage with the force of a thousand suns.
That. said.
Part of the conflict the anime seems to have with Uprising is that. Uprising is. Um. What’s the word.
Good?
While dialing its themes up to high key in the midst of toning down the monster slaying with scores of red shirts dying?
Season one is straight action. It taps into passion and uses that hotblooded enthusiasm to bludgeon you with feels that you’re hype enough to enhance into one heck of a trip. Honestly, it cuts a lot, but unless you’re an Annie fan or really, really bitter about the finale, people are largely chill with the first season.
My personal opinion is that that is because the introduction of Attack on Titan in all its forms is getting people invested for the aesthetic. Which is a funny thing to say, considering where its art starts. But people are so ready to get into humans with cool toys versus mindless monsters, and the anime does the art and the sound and everything up to eleven, that it doesn’t really matter that we don’t actually know the first thing about those five people who just died. It matters that holy fuck they’re dead.
Annie’s content, followed by season two, is where that starts to change. We’ve had smatterings of character work all along, but the pacing is so awkward that it’s much easier to connect to the fighting than the talking.
In season two, we descend into heartfelt emotional passion plays. As good as the fights are, it’s about Connie coming home to his village. It’s about Kristoria and Ymir. It’s about Reiner and Bertolt.
It’s like a bottle labeled Feelings got dumped over everything. All the stuff going on will matter to the plot, but the main focus is the overwhelming Emotion all these kids are going through, and the anime does that great.
Uprising is where the story takes a deep breath, and tries to bring the aesthetic and feelings together into a narrative driving the themes of the series.
Without the aid of gimmicks that novelty made so valuable to the original aesthetic.
Really, the first two seasons are kind of cheating. You draw action and death all pretty like, toss an awesome score on top and keep your cast from being inherently unlikable, and you’ve got a show. You have the same pretty with even more money and all the emotional heart tugging of romance and betrayal, and you’ve got a show.
Now. Try doing both those things at the same time.
The first two seasons are simple compared to the entire rest of everything. They get your feet wet. They introduce a badass world for you to roll in, then they introduce painful feelings for you to fall in.
Uprising involves actual story instead of running purely on pathos.
…I’m trying to say this politely, and that is as close as I’ve gotten. Yeah, I’m disappointed with me too.
But you can see how the anime crew tries to run season three the exact same way it runs the first two seasons, and you can see exactly how it fails. In the first season, sure it might have been better if Eren’s bond with Annie was stronger, but for the level of depth entry-level SnK asks for, it was not actually required for what story there was to make sense and be enjoyable.
In season three, those small cuts are infinitely more important, because while the narrative is developing, the characters and their emotions, having been more deeply established in the breathing room of the second season content, should be running the show.
Put… not as bluntly as I possibly can, but close, Uprising is where the writing becomes a crucial component. Before, what happens is more important than the hows and why behind it happening. During and after, how and why these plot things are occurring are the examinations that the entire series runs on.
Season three falls victim to sticking with what happens at a time where what is one of the least important details. You can’t outmatch the initial shock and awe aspect of the titans or 3DMG, you can’t hit as hard as the feels of Utgard and traitors revealed.
What makes the content work is not the beautiful blossoms, but the plant that is growing them. The blossoms are beautiful, but unlike the ones that came before, these ones need to stay on the plant to truly shine.
Season three cuts off the blossoms and leaves them in a nice vase.
There are excellent moments.
Their meanings are completely gutted, because for the first two rounds, that plant over in the corner really wasn’t growing well enough to belong in the same shot as its flowers.
Uh, to actually try and get back to maybe answering your question, I think each season has had cuts (likely comparable in number of panels), but none of the earlier cuts stole away so much of the content’s soul.
That’s why the third season feels so much different; it’s treated the exact same way as the first two. The problem is that the writing has improved, and there’s more ambition behind the story being told. The better the writing is, the more awkward and unbalanced cuts feel.
(For instance: I will complain about nearly every second of the first twenty episodes of Brotherhood, and all of my whining can basically be summed up with, “the manga did this better.” Because it did, because FMA’s writing is amazing, and being so amazing, changes can pretty much only make it go backwards.
Hi I’m never going to stop being mean to Brotherhood.)
That’s also why the second half of the third season is going to be so much fun. We’re back to pure action and pathos. All the whys and hows of the emotional impact of the conflict have been covered in previous material, so the Shiganshina arc can just go straight wild and leave everyone in a sprawling heap of pain in the aftermath.
The things that make the first two seasons so fantastic will make the second half of the third season phenomenal.
But the first half is a different beast put through the same paces. Things that worked for the first two seasons couldn’t fly with it.
…I really never thought I’d say anything positive about the Marley arc, but hopefully that will be complicated enough for them to realize that the story is not just constant action and shredding of heartstrings. There’s a significant narrative involved in the plot, and ignoring it for cheaper, yet still intensely dynamic, thrills, isn’t good for the anime as a whole product.
Hopefully somewhere in there I actually answered what you were asking. ^^; Thank you very much for the ask, sorry for keeping you waiting on it!

hi guys. didn’t sleep much last night. didn’t prepare me well for today.
i did get up and get to my chores... eventually. it took an hour and a half to get up and moving once i got out of bed. i showered and that went so late i just skipped breakfast and made myself lunch.
harrison decided to wait until 4 hours before mom was set to show up to freak the hell out at me. he figured out i was avoiding him and i told him the truth. he didn’t stop doing things i told him repeatedly to stop doing. i said those comments made me feel bad. he did the whole “oh i’m a failure of a friend” shtick and i didn’t have the energy to turn around and ignore my hurt feelings to comfort his hurt feelings about my hurt feelings.
he made me so angry! i typed out a lot of messages and had to press my fists against the desk and take a deep breath and erase them and try again.
the reason i got so angry was because as soon as it became clear i wasn’t going to say “oh no it’s ok” or whatever he demanded i send him a list of boundaries i have for him to not cross. like buddy if you don’t know them by now then it’s either not a problem or a very big problem. (he doesn’t listen.) i told him i didn’t know off the top of my head and he basically freaked out over and over in the same exact way no matter how many times i told him i was too tired to give him a list of my life for his own convenience.
i told him that. “i don’t have a check list for your convenience.” his response was “then how am i supposed to learn?” he sent me that literal message word for word after i told him twice that i am not his teacher or his babysitter. i have a full time job and it is not “patiently teach harrison about the magical ways of the world constantly and repeatedly at his pleasure forever and ever.”
i was so angry. i didn’t have time for that. i didn’t really get to prepare myself for mother before she showed up because i was grinding my teeth and taking deep breaths about harrison for two hours this afternoon. i sent him a link to a long pdf about emotional labor. that’s what he’s sapping out of me. the emotional labor. he won’t read it or understand it. but i told him to talk to literally anyone besides me about it. i know he won’t. he doesn’t listen. he doesn’t really listen to me. it doesn’t matter what i do. he’s just going to put me in these lose-lose situations forever and it’s exhausting and i have OTHER THINGS I NEED TO DO WITH MY DAY!!!
so i stumbled down to the parking lot to greet mother. we went and got her checked in to her hotel and we had dinner. i ended up talking a lot more than i wanted to. when i found out dad’s mom wants to get another dog (she killed her last one) i couldn’t hold back a pretty nasty comment. didn’t have the patience i needed.
at least when mom started making judgmental comments about other people i had the presence of mind to say “that’s not really my business” and change the subject to something that is my business. like insurance and taxes and boring difficult impossible adult stuff. mother wasn’t very helpful with a pep talk. when dad called she had me answer the phone for her. dad asked how i was doing and i said “i’m ok” and then let the silence kind of hang there. then i relayed mom’s message and hung up.
i was starving all day (i didn’t have the energy to actually make myself a lunch) and then when i got my food i could barely eat anything at all. it took me like an hour to eat my pasta. i didn’t even finish it. i ate too much to keep the few bites remaining for leftovers but... my body was doing that thing where i felt weak from hunger and yet food was the last thing i wanted anywhere near me.
every time mom complains about genevieve i tell her the same thing. eve is bored. she’s out of shape. she needs more exercise. mom never listens though and nothing changes. nothing ever changes just because i asked for something.
feels like that at least.
i learned my sister has been taking anxiety medication for several years now. our primary doctor prescribes them, my sister won’t see a therapist or psychiatrist. it’s so frustrating sometimes. she seems so miserable all the time but it’s like she thinks seeing a counselor will make her a crazy person or something. and you can’t be a crazy person! they’re the worst thing you could possibly be.
stigma.
she might be a little proud, too. but the way my brother’s expression changes if therapy ever comes up, that sort of sharp flinch, i can tell that judgment is there. i don’t see why my sister wouldn’t feel a similar way.
anyway i came home and i was so tired i did nothing for several hours. i got started on a thing for the comic but i didn’t have the energy to move past a quick sketch. i watched fma for a bit... episode 40 is next.
i feel like i can’t draw fast enough. i wish it didn’t take so long to tell a story. i have a hundred things backed up that i REALLY want to draw. but no energy to actually draw them. i stare at my to-do list and i look at my sketchbook sitting next to me and i just sag a little. i’m feeling overwhelmed. and i can’t find that... drive, i guess, i keep wondering if anyone’s even reading it (even though i know people are reading it, and they want to know what happens next, because that’s what happens when you follow an ongoing story).
i want to talk about it with someone besides harrison but when i go to talk about my process or the characters or choices i made i kinda clam up. at least in creative writing club that five-second hesitation of “oh my god, there is a huge flood of information i could  give about how i’m doing with this story, i’ve been making such good progress, what do i talk about?” got me absolutely nothing. i didn’t get to talk about it at all! the president moved on to his dnd campaign. i don’t have super-reflex wit... i needed a minute.
i guess with harrison it’s easier to talk about it because he hasn’t played the game and doesn’t have his own opinions about the characters. he has a different set of spoilers i can avoid. it’s way easier to talk about elements from the middle of the story (the part i wrote) when i’m sitting on the horrible bombshell twist of an ending to the game (the part i didn’t write). harrison knows some of my events and the characters but not where i’m going with all of it.
while with people who HAVE played the game, the middle of the story is going to be much more unknown! how do our protagonists get from where they are to where they end up in the game? (what changes did i decide to make to the game’s story? i’ve revealed a few already, a minor one and a major one.)
so it’s way harder to talk with them about my story because a different subset of the story is going to be unknown to them. that subset is the part that i put all the work into. if i talk too much about the middle of the story then there ain’t gonna be any big mysteries left.
i dunno. a solution to this problem would be to have more friends i guess. i never know what to say or how to say what i want to say. i’m still very afraid of the judgment. i get it. i’m a big gay nerd. but the minute you say “fanfiction” people get all weird about it. i had to be really careful about who i told about my art. and none of them even looked anyway. nothing even matters.
i feel so trapped.
i gotta run errands with mom tomorrow, probably most of the day. i’ve been putting together a list of things i need to collect or fix. mom likes having things to fix. and if i give her things to fix that are not me, we get along a little better. she gets to feel helpful, i get to have a working desk fan, and i don’t have yet another tense situation under my belt of “memories of mother.”
anyway. i don’t know what else to talk about. i feel like i have more to say but i’m not sure what it is i want to say, and even if i did i don’t have the energy to say it.

Note
after watching the new episode i was wondering if it possible for TodoBaku or is there moment that show Bakugou doesn't really mind about Todoroki in the later chapter ? and what's your opinion in TodoBaku ? how do you see their relationship ? Thanx :)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh what a good great unexpected question - personally, I don’t ship it romantically one bit, but it is one of my favorite dekusquad/bakusquad relationships - I guess you might consider it something similar to an accidental sort-of-friendship neither of them seem to actually have noticed yet? It’s definitely a unique relationship for either of them, at least… they make it clear more than once that they Do Not Give A Fuck about the other’s personal struggles, I just can’t see them talking and finding sympathy in each other, but that just ends up giving them a kind of blunt and no-bullshit relationship that doesn’t stop them from working together when needed. I don’t know how to properly explain it, honestly, but they’re fun!
I don’t know how much spoilers you want so I’ll keep this as vague as I can, but they do happen together more than either of them would like, and their relationship is a really amusing one for me - Todoroki actually cracks jokes with Bakugou around, though always with his neutral face and making fun of Bakugou himself when he does, and the way he has of just straight out ignoring Bakugou’s insults and fire-spitting and answering as if they were having a civil conversation is weirdly entertaining tbh
I wouldn’t say that Bakugou “doesn’t mind Todoroki”, but he does end up having way more important things to think about than his one-sided rivalry with him, and once he starts settling things with Deku the narrative mostly moves to push in that direction, which means that every interaction he has with Todoroki is either on neutral grounds or in the middle of forced cooperation, pushing any antagonism they might have to the background, really - also, the more the story goes on the more Bakugou becomes civil with the rest of the class, so there’s that too! Anyway, they’re fun to me, I wish to draw more of them in the future tbh
Anon said:I do laugh at Bakugou’s reaction on the podium bc visually its animated funny. But u r right that the whole thing is fucked. How is that even appropriate to do to him? And it takes until after his fight with deku many arcs later for All Might to say “we maybe sort of neglected this kid’s mental health.” Like wtf. It upsets me sometimes to think just how much All Might just doesn’t even *see* Bakugou. So much is wrong about this, from putting Bakugou on display to forcing the medal on him.
Blessed words all of them - it’s why I’m such a fan of the idea of Bakugou without even noticing switching his role model to Aizawa, actually? Aizawa’s the only adult figure in the whole manga who’s constantly been there for Bakugou, he has his future and mental health and reputation constantly in mind and works his ass off to try and help him along as much as possible, he takes note of everything Bakugou goes through, every switch in mood and worsening in personality and interpersonal relationships, and he’s always incredibly fast in nudging him towards the right path again - and Bakugou noticed. He trusts Aizawa to know him, follows his directions and accepts his advices, believes he’ll have his back without an ounce of doubt, that’s the tutor/student relationship Bakugou deserves
I understand that All Might has a lot of problems of his own and he’s just learning to be a teacher anyway, but he found it in himself to be there for Deku, while Bakugou has been obviously staring at his back for the whole length of the manga and it took All Might 120 chapters to notice, that’s just plain sad
Anon said:What’s your favorite Bakugou headcannon?
BOI I have a lot! One is mentioned in the ask up there, actually haha but generally you can see most of them in my art? I like the idea of him being an artist a lot, given how both his parents are into it, I like to think he’s a rock-music type of kid, I have weird headcanons about his dorm room all including too fancy-looking designer furniture and one too many hero figures stuffed under his bed - he might have a fire extinguisher or two in there as well. Also, he’s a restless sleeper (more like a fighter sleeper) and never wears socks ever
I like to think most of his clothes are black because it’s the color on which the soot from his explosions is the least noticeable, and that he unironically honest to god thinks skulls are the coolest thing ever and can’t stop himself from buying every piece of clothing with them on it (first time he entered Tokoyami’s room he died what a cool place he never wanted to leave ever again); that he really doesn’t like the sea - or taking long baths/showers - because water washes his sweat away and he feels defenceless and it’s horrible, and that rain makes him useless like it does to Mustang from FMA (haha)
He names everything after fire arms (has an extensive, nearly to the point of being uselessly detailed knowledge of those) be it his special moves or his pets or his toys when he was a kid or every and each of the pokemon he’s ever had in any game he’s ever played - he’s a gamer! Mostly into fighting games, though they frustrate him because now and again he blows the controller up without realizing and he’s forced to stop playing, but he also likes strategy-based rpgs a lot (all his characters are called King Of Explodo-kills. All of them)
He talks in hyperboles most of the times, means a thing but uses a word fifty times stronger than necessary to express it instead, and he’s so not used to positive emotions that the first time he feels them it takes him a while to figure out exactly what it is that he’s feeling - he’s an affectionate friend, though he has weird ass ways of showing it, and this part of him is new to him as well since it’s just coming out now that he’s got the squad (he was nearly sure the kids in middle school were his friends, but what kind of friend leaves you to be saved by Deku when a villain attacks?) (meeting the squad made him realize he’d never actually had friends before, it was a bittersweet feeling)
………..okay enough, you asked for my fave and I just blabbered half an hour. I don’t even know which one’s my fave tbh hahaha
Anon said:as much as I like the anime, seeing the sports festivals always makes me sad because bakugou is still an angry kid, but at that time thats pretty much the only thing people see, while after in the manga, yes hes still angry but hes softer? in a way? idk he grew up so seeing him back at the first point makes me sad (sorry for the rant I have a lot of feelings abt this lmao)
He HAS grown, hasn’t he! I hadn’t realized just how much until I saw him back at the beginning of this season yelling at Todoroki the he should stop thinking about Deku and start worrying about him - it’s? Painful? He’s in a constant fight against the whole world, while now you see him way more with his guard down and just… existing. I’m so proud of him and all the good great amazing relationships he’s built ;u;
Anon said:What episode 12 needs is the bakusquad getting angry at how Bakugou was treated because you can’t convince me they were okay with that.
Hmmmmmmmmmm boy I would love that, but all things considered at that point, given how Kaminari and Mina and Sero reacted to Bakugou’s fight with Uraraka, I can kind of safely assume they didn’t think much of it cause they honestly thought Bakugou would flip and destroy the world if not restrained - Kirishima might have found it eccessive, possibly, but in that case too his relationship with Bakugou was just being formed, he didn’t know Bakugou enough to be sure he wouldn’t just lounch himself at Todoroki as soon as he was free
What I can imagine is all four of them some months in the future thinking back on it and going, man, fuck, that really was messed up, what the hell, and for a whole week Bakugou’s highly confused and kinda creeped out by how nice they’re being to him (at some point he starts thinking it’s a quirk) (they stop and go back to normal once they realize he’s honestly trying to figure out a way to unmake it)
Anon said:have you ever thought about…. ojinari (denki and ojirou) beings best buds or just hanging out? and i always liked the idea that baku and kiri get a little jealous whenever denki fawns over ojirou’s soft tail
I have!! It’s also pretty much canon, they’re seen interacting a lot - I don’t know about jealousy tho, mostly because I like to think Baku and Kiri enjoy Ojiro’s friendship a whole damn lot too haha Ojiro’s probably the only one who trains just as much as they do, really, he must be a great gym partner
Anon said:Holy mother of–the medal around Bakugou’s neck is just–I have no words but it’s such a really thoughtful and beautiful way to represent just *waves hands* I can’t explain it but it was really perfect and you’re such a great artist aND BAKU DESERVES BETTER
Holy smokes thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!! ;;;A;;; I’m so glad you liked it, oh b o i and yessssss at least he deserves a lot more respect than he ever gets from anyone that isn’t his friends ;~;
Anon said:I know the chains and muzzle were probably(?) for comedic effect like “hahaha he’s so angry we had to restrain him” but dang I’m with you that was just wayyy too far. Crossing into inhumane territory there
;-; I’m so glad I’m not the only one that feels like this about that
Anon said:Okay…. but have you considered in the recent chapters….. platonic kirideku….. (please, I need more of their pure friendship)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I have, they’re pretty cute and pure and Kirishima’s a ball of excitement and fighting spirit as usual and Deku is kinda there trying to keep up all wobbly smiles and good intentions (he’s not used to the hype people poor child *pats his head*) which is amusing, I don’t mind their relationship at all! But as of now I still haven’t found anything about it unique and interesting enough to make me want to draw it? They’re cute! But they feel… sorta superficial? Like, Kirishima’s friends with everyone, and Deku’s friends with everyone, so of course they’re gonna be friends with each other too! But that’s about it right now. I dunno, maybe it’ll develop more in the future and I’ll decide I want to draw it, who knows!
Anon said:Have you seen that vine with the drunk guys recording singing backstreet’s back? The guy recording is kiri the guy angrily carrying the other drunk guy is baku and the guy being carried is kami
Oh my god this is the best thing I’ve thought about all day, bless you anon hahaha I can’t stop laughing send h e l p the angry look is just so Baku how did they even get him to carry Kami rip
Anon said:I’m sorry if this is annoying of something (mostly bc it’s not a question really) but I REALLY needed to tell you your art is awesome and you made me giggle like a little girl (especially at your kiribaku stuff), and I spent hours at it. You’re amazing!!
It’s not annoying at all!!!! Oh my god, thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3<3<3
Anon said:Sero giving Bakugo some kind of tape corset is just… omg Fran.
It’s not easy keeping the explosive friend at bay, but someone gotta do it (usually it’s Kirishima) (Sero works well enough when the target of Baku’s yelling is Kiri himself, tho)
Anon said:I just wanted to let you know that bnha has been all over my dash forever but the only reason i’m watching it is you. I found you through your haikyuu art (the bokuku.roteru comic to be specific) and I was sad that you don’t post much hq anymore, so I figured I would watch bnha so that I could enjoy your art to the fullest 😅 I’m only 8 episodes in but i like it so far!
I’m!!!!!! So happy you’re liking it, holy smokes!!!!!!!!! *O* thank you so much for deciding to try it out only for my art, oh myyyyyy ;u;
Anon said:Okay so… This is going to sound honestly terrible but… If Suneater needs to eat something to get his abilities, what would happen if he ate a human with a quirk? Would he be able to use it too?? Gosh. This is so morbid. Sorry for the ask.
DON’T!!!!!!!!!! worry anon this is a home open to every and each speculation as far as quirks go I live for this shit - also I might or might not have thought about this too (I have) and I guess as long as quirks are classified as physical attributes then he would gain the quirk? Mutations, for sure, but stuff like Bakugou’s sweat works too (he can use the venom in the animals he eats so nitroglycerin sweat is fair game) and probably body-shifting like Kirishima would work as well… I’m not sure about stuff like Shinsou’s quirk, but if there’s a gene or an actual mutated part of his body that can make him control people, then probably it’s be okay too
Please Jiki don’t ever eat anyone, tho lol
Anon said:I also am weak for the need vs want. I’ve actually said that to people. Don’t need you, I want you hahaha love you, Fran!!
Anon said:OMG Fran the comic !!! the soft kiribaku !!! and i love that Bakugou can still live without Kirishima but his live will be colourless, just LOVE IT !!!!!!
THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH OH MY GOD!!!! I’m super glad you liked it!!!!!!!!!!!! <3<3<3<3

List of anime that influenced me
While watching CDawgVA talk about the anime that influenced him, I got to thinking of what has influenced me. I’m older than many fans now, so what I grew up with isn’t what everyone else grew up with.
1) Sailor Moon
This show was the first real anime show I ever watched, though I had watched “anime” when I was younger in Voltron and Akira. However, they didn’t have nearly as strong an impact on me as Sailor Moon. I heard about it from one of my friends, and she was the kind of overly obsessed fantard that makes you cringe when you think of anime fans, but that came a bit later. I was in 6th grade and she told me I should try watching Sailor Moon in the morning. So I did.
I was instantly hooked. The girly clothes, the magic, the romance, the daring and mysterious Tuxedo Mask... I was in love! And so I got as many Sailor Moon things as I could get my little hands on. I got the small dolls, I also managed to get a hold of an Artemis plush that got ruined, and a big Sailor Venus doll. I really, really wanted a Tuxedo Mask doll, because good God he was pretty, but I could never find him.
Over the years, I frequented anime stores, or Japanimation as we called it. I got a couple of Sailor Moon CDs, one of which was an import from Japan. I got a couple of imported manga from Japan that I could never read. And when the manga started being translated by Mixx Entertainment, I got the Mixx Manga magazine, which was kind of like Shoujo Beat or Shonen Jump except they smashed both the Shonen manga in with the Shoujo manga. I think I sold my copies to Half-Price ages ago because I needed whatever money they were willing to give me for it. And when I saw that Mixx was finally putting out the manga volumes for $10, I got my grandma to buy them for me. I was in high school when they were coming out then.
I learned to draw anime style by copying Sailor Moon’s style. My first attempts were awful, but I kept trying. I had a Sailor Moon character of Sailor Neptune way before I ever knew about the outer senshi showing up later in the series. (she was Serena’s sister and showed up to take Tuxedo Mask.) And later in 6th grade, my too obsessive friend not only claimed she had written a script for a Sailor Moon play that I was to play Sailor Jupiter in, but that, over the phone, she claimed she was turning into Sailor Moon when she looked into the mirror. And that she was having adventures in the mirror while talking to me on the phone. As I said: too obsessed.
Needless to say, Sailor Moon is one of my staples. It broke my heart when I had to sell my old Mixx manga Sailor Moon volumes and the newer ones that I had collected so that I could get some money. It’s okay. One day I will get them again.
2) Tenchi Muyo! or Tenchi Universe
I had not watched a lot of anime after Sailor Moon. There just wasn’t a lot that interested me and no real way of watching it unless I convinced my grandma to pay for it. I think I was in high school when Tenchi Muyo! showed up on Cartoon Network. I know I was thrilled to learn that Cartoon Network was airing Sailor Moon, so I was still in Sailor Moon mode. Whenever it showed up, I was hooked. I got on that train and careened right off the cliff. I love this stupid show, but the manga is soooooooo much funnier. Oh so much! This is where a lot of my old humor came into play when drawing my Harry Potter fancomics in high school, as well as the numerous comics that I started, but dropped when I got bored with them. (Attention span of a gnat.) It became more fun to just tease the shit out of my friends who wanted to know how the stories ended, but were sorely disappointed when I didn’t bother with them.
When I started writing out my super long and stupid Harry Potter fanfictions, it was a few years after high school. Before then, I was drawing them in high school when I wasn’t doing homework. And lo and behold, I’d copy the page layouts from Tenchi Muyo! and Oh! My Goddess, but only Tenchi Muyo! got a lot of interest from me. It might have helped that Tenchi Muyo!’s humor is pretty on par with Monty Python and other such British comedies I had grown up on, so it wasn’t a huge stretch to start picking up on how to draw some of its humor.
3) Fullmetal Alchemist
If you’re a long time fan of mine, then you know that this was bound to show up. FMA was one of those animes that I had no idea about until I randomly caught it on Cartoon Network when I was staying over at my great grandpa’s house. I was with my grandma and we were taking care of her dad--my great grandpa--who was suffering from dementia among other problems. The rest of the family took turns taking care of him and accompanying him on trips so that he was never left alone for too long. He had a problem of ending up in trouble and never bothering to ask for help when he couldn’t get back up. Now, I knew about a few more anime at this time, because I had anime loving friends in high school and out of high school who knew of stuff to suggest to me. I’d watch it on Cartoon Network and be somewhat interested in it. I watched Cowboy Beebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star (which has one of the best anime closing themes I’ve ever heard omg)... I can’t remember anything else at the moment.
I turned on the TV and found cartoon network was playing its late night anime block and watched FMA. And never looked back. Now, while my love of FMA is not as apparent as my love of Sailor Moon, it’s still there. I made my own Edward and Alphonse Elric dolls, for crying out loud! I would get the manga and I loved the art style so much I started trying to incorporate it into my own a little, much the way it happened with Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo. I would sit and listen to the soundtracks I would get from one of my friends. I have a signed picture of Vic Mignogna that I have stored away in a nice, safe place. I’m a fan. And it still stays with me to this day. I spent so much time playing with Harry Potter and FMA with one of my friends that we blended them together.
Yeah. That’s right. My Mini-Erik series shows this bizarre shit in there and i will always be proud of how insane we got with it.
4) Princess Tutu
This one sounds goofy, and it is a little goofy, but it is so much deeper than you can possibly imagine. if you love magical girl stories as well as ballet, then you will love this. I love this. I LOVE THIS. This seriously came about when I found out that we had an anime channel. Back when my mom had a premium package for the cable, I could get free anime series to watch. I watched Pretear on there and a few other things, but what I took to the strongest was Princess Tutu. And trying to get my mom to sit and watch it with me because I know she will enjoy it if she gives it a chance was ridiculous. For some reason, she can’t handle anything where the characters have high pitched voices. She equates it to children’s voices and she can’t stand that. Not only that, but she, to this day, equates animated shit to cartoons for children. As I said, it’s fucking ridiculous to get her to watch this thing and enjoy it even though I know for a fact it has everything I know she will enjoy if she just stopped being a dumbass about it.
So this one has forever inflicted itself upon me. I still want to come up with a knight and princess like Fakir and Ahiru, but that will come when it comes. In the mean time, it will never leave me. Ever. I will always recommend it.
5) Fate/Stay Night (Fate series)
If you’re a long time fan of mine, you also know of my obsession with this series. It will never leave. NEVER. It always calls me back! Just like FMA, Princess Tutu, Tenchi, Sailor Moon, and a few others! But I think the most inspiring thing about the series is not so much the story, but the characters. Namely the heroes. See, I had a book I had taken from my great grandpa’s house upon his death. Actually, I had a lot of books that I had accumulated after his death, and all of them were mythology based. I staked a claim on those faster than you can blink. I have a Welsh Mythology book, an Irish mythology book, and two Scandinavian folk tale books that I got from his house. Well, I had read through the Irish one and enjoyed the Cattle Raid of Cooley and Cuchulainn, but it didn’t stick in my head. It was Fate’s Lancer that shoved that bastard right into my brain and he made a home there. I had always been a huge fan of King Arthur, and seeing a female King Arthur kinda weirded me out at first, but I liked the idea so much that I kept it for my own versions of King Arthur.
“The Dark Queen”, “The King’s Hound”, and “Hound of the Dark Earth” all came from utilizing the images of the characters of Lancer Cu and Saber Arthur, but using them in my own way. So even now I’m still playing with these stories, and it has everything to do with fate/Stay Night being a huge influence on me.
6) Axis Powers: Hetalia
Oh, Hetalia. We have a love/hate relationship, you and I. I love you to pieces, but your fans tend to be fucking psychotic and/or stupid. Or at least the ones I always encounter minus one of my besties. My bestie Alex introduced me to Hetalia and I keep coming back to it while she’s kind of stopped caring. I always come back to things I enjoy, such as Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, King Arthur, yadda yadda.
I instantly fell in love with America and continue to this day. I also fell in love with England, and later France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, China, Russia, Lithuania, and Japan. To this day, I have characters that are at least in some part influenced by the characters of Hetalia. My character Jimmy Stark was influenced by America, my character Bastian Wylde came from England, same with Fabian Santiago from Spain. I think even Darius Lis came from my usual portrayals of Lithuania in roleplays. How these came about was from a lot of role playing with Alex in various stories, including, but not limited to, Twilight and Harry Potter. We always paired Alex’s version of India with England, so in Twilight they became vampire lovers and in Harry Potter they were students. And then we used India in The Witch’s Son/Phantom of the Opera type shenanigans back when I was just trying to figure out how to make The Witch’s Son work.
However, I stayed far from the fandom outside of making overly dramatic fanfictions of a dumb parody cartoon. I know I had at least two Mexican idiots try to tell me that the Texas Revolution was America stealing Texas from Mexico instead of Mexico being an abusive dickwad and Texas raising a shotgun to his face and saying “No More.” Or that Palestine would have never picked on a young Israel, even though Palestine, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and a number of other places around Israel all declared war on Israel for simply existing. Israel won its independence in fire and blood, and then kept on surviving every single time these same nations never learned their lesson and declared they would “drive the Jews into the sea” ie kill them all. Or that America was never a conservative nation. However, they’re small fry in comparison to the bizarre fantards on gaiaonline. Had at least one of them molest my America and then, when I played such a thing straight and had America scream “BAD TOUCH! I NEED AN ADULT!” they started screeching about “straight helatians” being impossible and “straight hetalians” in their fandom. Like... dude? Seriously? The boys liking Hungary’s tits and ass don’t connect with you anywhere?
7) Hellsing
This one is more for two characters, specifically Alucard and Anderson. I played Alucard for years and then finally wanted to incorporate him in something without like... actually doing Alucard. If you know me, you know what I’m referring to. Anderson, however, kind of more just... visually influenced another character that has absolutely zero to do with him... though I suppose you could make the connection because they’re both priests that murder. The image in my head was more of the scarecrow variety, though, with Anderson’s long arms being more lanky, as well as his body. So perhaps a little of Batman’s Scarecrow fell in there somewhere, too.
8) Fushigi Yuugi
I literally only heard about this when I was... I think high school and then got out and ran into it later because of my bestie Amanda. This one is one of the lesser influences, but I suppose it still counts because some of it still lingers with me today.
9) Ouran High School Host Club
A silly manga and a silly anime that makes the Captain a super happy person. This influenced more because of the stereotype characters in the same way Hetalia did. I’ve been noodling with the idea of romances surrounding similar types, including twins with a chick. We’ll see where that goes... if it goes anywhere.
10) Anything CLAMP has created
Not gonna lie... I was a huge CLAMP fiend when I got out of high school. While I don’t really give a shit about the yaoi in the stories, my interest has always been in the cute, girly, adventure, or the DESIGNS. Jesus fuck, I would kill to be able to design some of the outfits they design. I’ve never been that imaginative with clothing. The detail put into the designs made me try to do the same with my own artwork, for good or ill. And the art styles were ones I emulated, particularly from eeh... Angelic Layer and Tsubasa Chronicle. I, in fact, used to rely on the manga from Tenchi, Sailor Moon, and Tsubasa Chronicle to get ideas for page layouts and whatnot when I drew comics. I incorporated a lot of it into my drawing style and then let it relax into something else when I finally got bored with keeping up with CLAMP.
