Late Eycte! Alex Turner x Singer!Reader
Warnings: smut, smoking, stoned sex? spanking, oral (female received), smut without plot, soft dom Alex, tits play and use of pet names (doll, luv, princess) if you are not into that please don't read it :))
word count: 3k
You and Lana were best friends. You were like sisters from different mothers. You grew up with each other, and it didn't turn out to be a surprise when you both decided to follow the same career. Both of you were talented women in the music business. You both followed each other every step of the way. You normally planned your tours together and attended each other's shows with every change. It was a mutual relationship based on support and admiration for one another's talents and successes.
So when she met Miles Kane and Alex Turner, she also introduced them to you, and you instantly matched each other's energies. But, oh, you and Alex, you had an electric connection with your first conversation. You felt an indescribable spark every time you talked to him. Alex had his way of making you smile. His witty humour and charming personality captivated you from the start. With every word he spoke, you found yourself drawn closer to him and as time went on, your bond only grew stronger.
You and Alex were at your home studio, trying to get the perfect sound for one of your songs. It was one of those terrible days when you'd prefer to listen to one of your vinyl records than try to come up with new ideas. You were attempting to play a song on your keyboard, but nothing seemed to come together. You sighed as you turned to see Alex, who was lying on the floor with his back to the wall, doing the same thing with his electric guitar.
"I'm going to play a record," you said, hoping it would bring some inspiration, and you walked towards the record player. "Do you mind?" you continued.
"No, maybe I can strum a few chords while you listen and find something new," he replied mindlessly.
You laughed at your current state as you picked a random record from the collection and gently placed it on the turntable. As the familiar crackle of the vinyl filled the room, you watched as his fingers effortlessly moved across the strings of his guitar, creating a melody that seemed to be perfectly in harmony with the song that was playing in the background.
"Oh, I love this song," you whispered, and you started mumbling the song lyrics under your breath. "I didn't know that you liked Lou Reed," he commented, listening to your soft humming with a smile on his face.
"Yeah, his music has always clicked with me," you replied, your voice barely audible over the music. "I've been listening to his songs for years; Lana teases me for that; she had written a song about it," you said with a smile.
When the record ended, the room was filled with silence. "Does it bother you?" Alex's voice brought you back to reality, showing you his lighter that was ready to light up his joint. You just shook your head in response.
You both had given up on finding some tunes for your song. Instead, you approached him and sat next to him. You were lying on the floor, your heads facing the ceiling, in silence. Then suddenly Alex placed the joint in your mouth, giving you a puff, and as the smoke filled your lungs, you closed your eyes. At that moment, a calming sense washed over you, as if the worries and stress of the outside world had been temporarily suspended and time stood still. With each exhale, the weight on your shoulders seemed to lighten, allowing you to fully embrace the tranquillity of the moment. Alex's fingers were still on your lips, and you could feel the warmth of their touch spreading through your body. Slowly, you felt your mind drift away. Your body grew more and more hotter, yet the cool air in the atmosphere made you shiver. Alex forced you to look at him and his unexpected action made you freeze. You just stared at his beautiful eyes and waited for him to say anything.
“Fuck” he sighed with a smirk “You got some soft lips there” he continued your heart racing as you tried to process his unexpected compliment. You couldn't help but blush, feeling a mix of excitement and confusion. “I'm always catching myself thinking if you could put them in good work for me,” he said and you were so surprised that you only blinked you could barely find words to respond.
“Oh, don't act so surprised luv, I know that you wanted too, I can say from the way you look at me” he added again. It wasn't that you didn't want to but you really didn't know how to react. You never believed that Alex could be so forward.
"Come here," he said, lifting himself up. You move closer to him without thinking, never breaking eye contact, and as you get closer to him you fall to your knees. Everything seemed to start dragging on a bit slower as the high settled into your mind and every touch made you shiver. "Oh, no, it's not about me tonight," he said, helping you stand up. You looked at him confused, and he kissed you passionately on your lips, catching you off guard. The intensity of the moment left you breathless, and you couldn't help but wonder what had prompted this sudden display of affection. As he pulled away, a mischievous smile played on his lips, and he whispered, "Tonight, it's all about you."
When the words left his mouth, he kissed you again, lifting you up and placing you on the nearest table. His hands roamed gently over your body, his touch igniting a fire within you that you had never felt before. "Alex," a soft moan left your mouth. As his hands travelled all over your body. "What is it, doll? Tell me what you need," he asked. "I- I need…y-you" you moaned, so ashamed that you couldn't even look him in the face. You could feel your panties getting wetter and wetter with every minute passing. God, this weed was doing too much to you. "No need to tell it twice," he said, placing his hand on your neck and pulling you in for a kiss. The intensity of the moment overwhelms you, making it difficult to form coherent thoughts. The combination of his touch and the effects of the weed heightened your desire, leaving you craving more. A cry left your mouth as you kissed him back, and he bit your lip, causing a mixture of pleasure and pain to surge through your body. The room seemed to spin as you surrendered yourself to the intoxicating mix. It was a moment of pure surrender, where nothing else mattered but the raw desire between you. You wrapped your leg around him as you quickly deepened the kiss. You gasped into Alex's mouth as you felt his hands touch up and down your back.
Without even realising it, your top and your bra were lying scattered in the studio while Alex's mouth took one of your nipples between his teeth and pulled hard, gazing up at you as you cried out of pleasure and pain. Your back was arching from the pleasure his mouth was giving you, and all this attention in your sweet spot was making you soak through the fabric of your undies. His hands were hugging your boobs perfectly as he was teasing you, alternating between gentle caresses and rough squeezes. The combination of his skilled mouth and expert touch sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body, igniting a fiery desire within you. Unable to contain yourself any longer, you surrendered to the intoxicating sensations, losing yourself to Alex, which left you breathless and yearning for more.
"Al, p-please. You're teasing me so much." You pleaded with a desperate voice, your words laced with a mixture of need and anticipation. Alex's eyes met yours, filled with a hunger that mirrored your own desires and with a wet pop, he let go of your breasts. The waiting was maddening, every nerve in your body on edge as you watched him slowly remove his hand from your breast and lower it between your legs. He smirked, his fingers tracing teasing circles on your inner thigh, inching closer to where you craved his touch the most. Your breath hitched as his fingers brushed against the fabric, sending a shock of electricity through your body. He lowered himself, and his hot breath was hitting your clothed pussy sending goosebumps all over your skin.
“Tell me what you need and I will give it to you," he whispered seductively. You could hardly find the words to respond, but the ache in your core fueled your determination.
"I need your touch," you managed to utter, your voice trembling with tension. With that, he lifted your skirt and slid his fingers beneath your panties granting you the pleasure you craved, sending waves of ecstasy crashing over you.
"You're so wet for me," Alex said, thrusting two fingers into you. As your hands grabbed his hair, his thumb slid to circle your clit, fingers now steadily pumping into you. Your spine arched and your legs sought to close as he curled his fingers in the perfect position. He looked up at you, disappointingly shaking his head.
“No, sweetheart come on, I know you can do better than that," he said wanting to continue pushing you to your limits.
“Close your feet again and I'm going to stop,” he said, with a serious expression on his face.
With his jawline sharp, he placed his hands on your back as he pushed you to the edge of the table. You could feel the pressure building in your muscles and the passion surging through your veins. He helped you take your panties off, and he lowered himself between your legs.
You gasped and rolled your eyes back as his tongue touched your clit. His hands gripped your thighs and held them open for him, so tightly that you swear it'll leave a mark on your skin. As he continued to lick and suck your pussy, his tongue touched you in all the right spots. With your hands pulling the back of his head, you pushed your hips into his mouth as he thrust the tip of his tongue into you. Alex groaned against you, and the pleasure reached all the way to your core.
He rubbed his thumb on your clit again, making you see stars. Your body trembled in pleasure as you cried out his name. He was looking at you and, he couldn't help but enjoy having such power over you.
“A-Alex, please” you whispered.
“Please what doll?” he asked teasing you.
“Ple-please, don't stop” You paused not being able to utter a phrase with his face between your legs.
“I'm gonna cum Al- please, d-don't stop” you continued as one of your hands gripped the table tightly.
Alex moaned as your orgasm landed on his tongue, the sweet taste lingering in his mouth as he sucked the juices. The heat of the moment overwhelmed both of you, leaving you breathless and craving for more. He pulled away, gently placing your shaking legs down. You looked into each other's eyes, knowing that this was only the beginning. You felt your juice running out of your thighs, and your mind was all over.
You only came back to reality when he helped you turn around and bent you over the table, ready to take you from behind. When your breasts touched the cold furniture, you gasped at the sensation.
“We are not done, luv,” he said with a playful grin. You weren't able to respond but you needed him, you wanted to feel him inside you, all the anticipation that your previous action gave you and the high feeling of the joint that you two smoked made you even more hornier, longing for his touch. Eager to feel him again you pushed your hips against him, causing friction as his bone teased your entrance, he then backed up and let a spank fall in your ass. It was so unfair, he was fully dressed when you were wearing nothing but a skirt that was barely covering anything because he turned it up.
The painful sense sent a rush of pleasure through your body, and a cry left your lips. You closed your legs, trying to get some relief. But again, that gave you another spank.
“Please” you begged again, hoping for mercy. And then the sound of Alex unzipping his pants was like harmony in your ears.
“Someone is getting needy” he whispered and when he pushed his member inside of you, burying himself fully, you both moaned.
“Ugh- Al” you moaned as waves of euphoria washed over you. Your legs started shaking and you couldn't bear your own weight anymore. You were a mess. Your moans, his heavy breaths and the sound of your bare skin slapping together filled the room. You could feel his dick hitting against your tight walls with each hard thrust, it was like he was doing it on purpose. You tried to make him slow down by pushing him by his chest but your attempt failed as he grabbed your hands and placed them behind your back.
“You wanted me to stop, luv,” he asked, mocking you. “N-No, just- just please…slow down” you cried out and bit your lips trying to hold yourself quiet. Another orgasm built up quickly inside of you, you were so sensitive and overwhelmed with pleasure that you could barely breathe.
“What? Are you going to cum already” he said and spanked you again harder than before, making you whine even louder. You couldn't even respond to him you just nodded and murmured.
“Use your words, babe, like a good girl you are” he groaned. He was getting closer too, your walls were tightening around him and made it very difficult for him to move and not to cum right there.
“Yes. Please yes,” you screamed, and then you placed your hands where you need them the most and started playing with your clit. The pleasure intensified as you felt the waves of orgasm building within you.
But Alex still catch your action. “Such a dirty girl trying so hard to cum on my cock” he said.
He knew he had some power over you and he wouldn't stop until he had made you completely submit to his desires. You couldn't think of anything else but how close you were to your relief. Your body started to shake as the pleasure rushed all over your body. Your mind went blank and you gave yourself to him completely.
You were high, your body aching as you let go once more. Alex moan as your juices covered his cock. Your orgasm seemed to last forever. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears, Alex continued to fuck you while you came and you couldn't do anything else but moaned in pleasure.
“ I- please cum inside me, I'm on the pill" you panted. And this was all Alex needed as he filled you up.
When he pulled himself out the mix of his warm release and your juice started running out of you in a sticky mess, you nearly sobbed, as he left you feeling exposed and empty.
“You did so good Y/N," he said helping you to stand up and face him, his eyes were filled with admiration and pride.
“I can't feel my feet,” you said with a shaky voice.
“Come on, princess,” he said as he lifted you in his arms. "How does a bath sound ?" he asked as he carried you towards the bathroom.

Something to rely on - Miles Kane song analysis
// From Coup De Grace - 2018 //
Okay - I need to start releasing my draft-posts into the world. I've had this sitting there for a while but wasn't convinced it's ready. I think I should just stop overanalyzing though so here goes.
We're here - another silly little subjective analysis of a Miles Kane song (geared towards how it could possibly maybe be about Alex? question mark question mark ??)
I was gonna do Adios Ta-Ra Ta-Ra first, but then I was listening to this album and this one just got stuck in my head and didn't wanna leave. So here we are (will do others too of course though).
Big disclaimer is: this is just one little personal interpretation done for fun and please don't take it too seriously.
Even I personally have more than one idea in my head about a lot of these lyrics and songs and what they could mean. I just choose one - the one most convincing to myself, one that sticks out to me the most and write it down for what it is in that moment in time.
I like sharing these because I'm curious if anyone else in the world finds some of my thoughts convincing - and if not - what they think these things mean instead! Honestly the thing I want most from these is feedback and potential conversations - be it in tag, reblog, reply, or message form. I love trying to figure songs out together! So please share your thoughts!
[Verse 1]
Crescent moon, left in my drive
All too soon, you made your point
Keeping off the radar, how does that make you feel?
The moon seems like a thing in the whole Miles/Alex "lore"
-> We've got that interview, where Alex jokes around about them missing each other while on tour, looking at the moon, wondering what the other's doing.
-> There's the "He moves the moon that kid" quote from Alex when introcuding Miles during an AM gig.
-> "I'm Alex from the lash shadow puppets and I play the awhooo [interviewer Cat - so you're a wolf. Cool] // And I'm Miles from the Last Shadow Puppets and I play the midnight moon".
-> The moon is also ofc associated with Alex himself due to TBHC and the fact he 's stated that he's intereted in space overall
other things maybe worth noting?
* "Kiss me underneath the moon's sideboob" [AM - TBH+C]
* The Ultracheese. The whole song. The title being a cheesy [hehe] metaphor for the moon
* "Crawling through like midnight panthers
Growling at the moon" [ MK - First of my kind]
* Paraselene woman, I'm your man in the moon [Alex Turner, Glass in the Park]
All that to say... We've got another moon here and maybe that's done on purpose.
This one is crescent - seems like a sad metaphor. Crescent moons can symbolize either the beginning or the end of something. "Left in my drive" is giving me very much breakup vibes. Something left behind on the way out of your home/life.
There's nothing much left of the moon that they perhaps shared as "their thing".
Keeping off the radar - a thing that Alex very much does - not one for social media or a public presence at all if he can help it. Here - maybe also direct ghosting is invloved after a breakup or fight - whataver went on.
[Chorus 1]
Something to rely on
Something to get high on
Miles has had enough of the push-and-pull of the relationship. He wants something he can actually rely on. Something that'll bring him the pure joy love is supposed to bring - a high.
Miles also references a high/getting high together in other songs - like in "Wrong side of life" (the song he says is about the person who he broke up with/the one he's wrote most of the CDG album about + incidentally a song he apparently dedicated to Alex during a gig he was at) he writes about wanting to get high with you.
So i feel like we have a doube meaning - the high of love/and actually getting high.
(something - let's be honest - that is obvious Miles and Alex did once or twice during the EYCTE era)
I don't want to beg or steal, I don't want to borrow hearts
Another clue to the fact that the relationship was an on-and-off / push-and-pull / hot-and-cold thing. Maybe even an affair. Maybe just open or perhaps simply casual - but Miles doesn't want it to be just that.
He doesn't want to beg for the persons love and full attention.
Doesn't want to share them with anyone - have to steal them away from the person they officially "belong" to.
He doesn't want to have them sometimes - a heart borrowed for the day' when it's convenient. He wants to own the person's heart and in return be theirs fully too.
I just want to make it real
Something to rely on
Confirmation for the theory above. He wants it to be a real full-on relationship, not whatever it has been and has obviously not been enough for him.
The making of a mystery, wishing on a falling star
I don't want to let this sadness rule my heart
He knows he can't take it anymore - his heart is at stake and it's hurting. Whatever the relationship is offering isn't satisfying him and the sadness that brings is taking over his life. He has to put an end to it for his own good - but he still loves the person. He'd like to be able to rely on them. He wants to wish on a falling star for this to work out. (more space related things?)
[Verse 2]
Keeping it clean, through all the things you wanted me to be
Out of touch, with all the rumors I keep hearing of you
Keeping off the radar, how does that make you feel?
Keeping it clean is a confusing metaphor - It brings to mind images of staying clean - so drugs/alcohol. But that doesn't personally makes sense to me in this context.
I'd go towards keeping their image clean. This relationship - whatever it was - was a secret. That seems like something mostly the other person wanted - not ready to fully commit. They wanted Miles to be a secret / a friend with benefits maybe / something without a label perhaps, when Miles was all in and ready for the real deal with them.
He needs to seperate himself (be out of touch) from the rumours about this person who broke his heart // perhaps the rumours inevitably make their way towards him, because this person is a well-known public figure, often gossiped about. And associated with Miles closely - so he keeps hearing about them even though he'd like not to know what goes on in his life post their fall out. <- that's assuming the lyrics are from the "now" perspective; post-heartbreak.
But it can also mean that they had an actual relationship - but it was kept secret - something initiated by the other person, not Miles.
Miles kept the rules - kept their image clean, kept it all a secret. But that meant having to deal with rumours about the other person being with other people.
In this context "Keeping off the radar, how does that make you feel?" can also refer to the relationship. He's asking the person - keeping us secret - how does that make you feel?
[chorus 2 / ending]
The making of a mystery, wishing on a falling star
I don't want to let this sadness rule my heart
Your actions from the start
In spite of me insightfully inviting me to fall apart
This person was doing more-than-friend things with Miles and suggesting a possible something-more from the very start - when they first met. Their actions clearly invited him to fall for them and then in turn fall apart from the heartache that it caused in the end.
Miles may have known it's a bad idea (in spite of me) but coudn't keep himself from falling anyway. The person was super close to him, understood him well (insightfully inviting me) - which made falling all the more easy.
[Bridge]
All aboard the guilt train
Last call before we leave
First off - makes me recall the "All aboard the Kane train" thing Alex once said during a TLSP gig. May be a coincidence - may not be.
Secondly - Miles seems to feel guilty for the way things went - but he believes both sides should take the blame.
Last call before we learn to love
The last before we leave
(And here we collectively fall apart)
"Last call before we learn to love" seems to me to imply that it's the time to take accountability for their mistakes in this relationship so that they can move on and form other ones ina healthy way? [maybe] BUT-
if so, I still believe this is Miles being freshly hurt by the hearbreak. There are contradictory statements about this love he's lost on the album (and I believe some more on the next one). It doesn't really seem like he's given up on them and their bond.
Even here
You're all that I wanted
All that I need
You're all that I wanted
You're all that I need
at the end of the song we get "wanted" in past tense but "need" in the present.
So doesn't truly seem like giving up on the person and their true shared feelings.

The Age of the Understatement - The Last Shadow Puppets
Tumblr media
Hello! The Last Shadow Puppets, what a great start.
The Last Shadow Puppets are an English supergroup consisting of Alex Turner, Miles Kane, James Ford and Zach Dawes. They were formed by co-frontmen, Alex Turner and Miles Kane, in 2007, after they became friends when Kane's band supported Arctic Monkeys on tour in 2005. They bonded over their shared love of artists such as David Bowie and decided to write songs inspired by that music. At first, thought of as a one-off project, they went on to release two records, The Age of the Understatement and Everything You've Come To Expect.
You know I didn't realise supergroups were a THING. A supergroup is a musical group formed with members who are already successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. I think it was originally a thing for charity like Band Aid, but like there's the Traveling Wilburys who have Bob Dylan and George Harrison, and I think Boygenius technically count too.
This is my go-to album for when I want to listen to something upbeat but not too heavy. I saw this in a charity shop and like nearly went feral. And then my friend Kenny bought another copy for my birthday. And I like using that one because Kenny<3 but also I didn't appreciate how the other copy is SO scratched. Like unbelievably scratched. Like I don't know why I didn't check beforehand.
I got into the Last Shadow Puppets through Arctic Monkeys. I was looking at a playlist and a couple of their songs were on it and I was like woah they're kinda cool. Their Everything You've Come To Expect record is SO delicious, but I have such a soft spot for their earlier stuff because they're just so silly. I had SUCH brainrot for this band, like consistently listening to the music and now I've kinda gone off it a little bit, like I find myself skipping their songs more often when they come up. Which is sad because I loved them so much, and still do, but I think my music taste has just kinda evolved past them. But every so often I do like to return to them every so often because their music is just really comforting.
I'm literally BEGGING they release a new album soon because I would die to see them live because the chemistry that Miles and Alex share onstage needs to be studied.
Favourite song: The Time Has Come Again Favourite lyric:
Without permission His face became wet He thought he'd learn how to not get upset
The Age Of The Understatement - 3/5 Standing Next To Me - 4/5 Calm Like You - 4/5 Seperate And Ever Deadly - 4/5 The Chamber - 5/5 Only The Truth - 3/5 My Mistakes Were Made For You - 3/5 Black Plant - 5/5 I Don't Like You Anymore - 4/5 In My Room - 2/5 Meeting Place - 5/5 The Time Has Come Again - 5/5
Final thoughts: 8/10 Banging album! Will forever love it and will always return to it. The last two songs are my fave, i think they're just so beautiful. Anyways, thanks for reading I appreciate it :3

[Verse 1] In lipstick on the mirror are the lyrics to my obituary In iambic pentameter, followed parameter, cross my eyes, dot my T's I was delivered holding scissors, I live deliberately, I’m a quitter And a winner anyway, cause I never agreed to participate in this game Won't follow my dreams, 'cause they all got me waking up screaming I can’t let them go for me, after all, there is no “I” in team [Chorus] And I'd rather be normal, yes, so normal I suggest that we keep this informal 'Cause a normal human being wouldn't need To pretend to be normal, to be normal Well I guess that's the least that I owe ya To be normal in a way I couldn’t be C’mon, c’mon, and love me normally [Verse 2] If I could live in third person, well, I don’t think life would be much worse than it is In the current tense, presently, this sentence ending in question marks or dot, dot, dot Is it courageous or escapist to leave the quarantine when you’re contagious? It may just be a cold, and besides I don’t wanna get old, yeah I drank myself to death to be the afterlife of the party When the afterparty came, I was rolling in my grave [Chorus] And I'd rather be normal, yes, so normal I suggest that we keep this informal 'Cause a normal human being wouldn't need To pretend to be normal, to be normal Well I guess that's the least that I owe ya To be normal in a way I couldn’t be C’mon, c’mon, and love me normally [Bridge 1, spoken] Now this is the part of the song where I like to talk to my audience I like to tell 'em there's something I want from you hep cats tonight I want you to look to your left, look to your right, your 12 o'clock, three o'clock, six o'clock, nine o'clock, rock around the clock tonight And I want you to find those points of no return, those singularities, those burning rings of fire in the beautiful pupils and the beautiful eyes of the beautiful boy, girl, neither, both, or in-between that you brought with you tonight, and I want you to tell 'em how you really feel I want you to love the way they so seamlessly, like-a-dream-fully, so beautifully, oh-so-dutifully jam that square peg in the round hole in their hearts I want you to tell 'em that you love the way that they don't stick out like sore middle fingers That they crawl their way up the side of the bell curve, stick their flag in the peak, and slide their way back down I want you to tell them that you love the way that they're not maladaptive, not malcontent, not malignant or maleficent, but rather that you love them exactly the way that everybody else is [Bridge 2] I was nothing before, so I couldn’t have asked to be born I'll be nothing again, so what am I between now and then? Is there nothing to fear? Cause shit's getting weird So to God who made this man, you better have one hell of a plan [Chorus] And I'd rather be normal, yes, so normal I suggest that we keep this informal 'Cause a normal human being wouldn't need, no To pretend to be normal, to be normal Well, I guess that's the least that I owe ya To be normal in a way I could never be C’mon, c’mon, yeah, I said c’mon, yeah C’mon, c’mon, yeah, I said c’mon, yeah C’mon, c’mon, and love me normally C'mon, c'mon and love me normally

Do I Wanna Know?
Written By: Alex Turner
Artist: Arctic Monkeys
Released: 2013
Cover included: Hozier, 2014
“Do I Wanna Know” is the second single from AM, premiered live at the Ventura Theatre, CA on May 22, 2013. In it, Alex portrays himself as an obsessive lover that is paranoid about the state of his relationship.
[Verse 1] Have you got colour in your cheeks? Do you ever get that fear that you can't shift the tide That sticks around like summat in your teeth? Are there some aces up your sleeve? Have you no idea that you're in deep? I've dreamt about you nearly every night this week How many secrets can you keep? 'Cause there's this tune I found That makes me think of you somehow an' I play it on repeat Until I fall asleep, spillin' drinks on my settee [Pre-Chorus] (Do I wanna know?) If this feelin' flows both ways? (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hopin' that you'd stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made For sayin' things that you can't say tomorrow day [Chorus] Crawlin' back to you Ever thought of callin' when You've had a few? 'Cause I always do Maybe I'm too Busy bein' yours To fall for somebody new Now, I've thought it through Crawlin' back to you [Verse 2] So have you got the guts? Been wonderin' if your heart's still open And if so, I wanna know what time it shuts Simmer down an' pucker up, I'm sorry to interrupt It's just I'm constantly on the cusp of tryin' to kiss you But I don't know if you feel the same as I do But we could be together if you wanted to [Pre-Chorus] (Do I wanna know?) If this feelin' flows both ways? (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hopin' that you'd stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made For sayin' things that you can't say tomorrow day [Chorus] Crawlin' back to you (Crawlin' back to you) Ever thought of callin' when You've had a few? (Had a few) 'Cause I always do ('Cause I always do) Maybe I'm too (Maybe I'm too busy) Busy bein' yours (Bein' yours) To fall for somebody new Now, I've thought it through Crawlin' back to you [Outro] (Do I wanna know?) If this feelin' flows both ways? (Sad to see you go) Was sorta hopin' that you'd stay (Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made For sayin' things that you can't say tomorrow day (Do I wanna know?) Too busy bein' yours to fall (Sad to see you go) Ever thought of callin', darlin'? (Do I wanna know?) Do you want me crawlin' back to you?

Hello!! I did a better research about the "My Alex" and Miles words were supposedly "The next song is called ”My Fantasy”… I’d like to dedicate it to my Alex Turner!", unfortunately i couldn't find the video either and i would definitely kill for this footage. I just love the way they express their love for each other by dedicating songs it's so genuine, music is one of the most precious things in their lifes so when they dedicate a song to each other they really want to show there's a true feeling between them, regardless of whether it's friendship or anything else.
About Caroline Miles said that he just making up a girl's name to facilitate the creative process (sure, Miles), but the song is actually about a friend who was going through a hard time. Maybe he made the song about a girl so it wouldn't be so obvious, because it really looks like he just replaces the person's real name with Caroline (??).
I was rewatching that chaotic Martin interview and Alex said something interesting when Martin asked about the EYCTE lyrics "I just can't get the thought of you and him out of my head", Alex answered that a song sometimes isn't about the lyrics or a melody idea for example, but sometimes underneath some of those lines there's a memory or a message that you're disguising with the rest of it, or as you said it can be way more metaphorical than literal most of the time. I remember that they was asked about the girl in the EYCTE album and they also haven't confirmed that it is in fact about a girl they are talking about. So i mean, they have a very similar creative processes in that aspect, maybe Alex isn't talking about politics at all in Golden Trunks even with all the references, i believe it's just a metaphorical scenario to disguise the real thing he's talking about just like he said. Btw this all reminds me of Alex saying "Some of what happens in those situations is disclosed through the veil of song in the record, there's some references", it lives rent free in my head.
About the covers, i love the SOS cover probably the gayest for sure, and they definitely don't seem to care about it even with all the pressure from the industry as well. And you're totally right, people actually need to stop labeling other people like that it's fucked up
Thank you once again for the answers, i still don't know if i'm making any sense in all of this tho. I can't wait for the Golden Trunks analysis, i'm pretty sure you'll do an excellent job and i would love to help you with that, friend! \o
PS: Do you think they've been in touch these days, i just saw some people freaking out about Miles story. Dear God i hope so, my fingers are already crossed 🤞
Hi anon! I missed you T_T So glad to see you're back!
I do remember seeing that post, however I was met with a dead end with finding the clip. It seems we faced the same unfortunate predicament. If anyone will EVER get a clip of this iconic moment, I would love to see it! I totally agree with what you said about dedicating songs to someone. They're musicians. Music is their way of expressing emotions, their experiences, and their lives in general. So if a musician, especially world renowned ones like Alex Turner or Miles Kane, dedicate a song to you? You must be incredibly and utterly important.
Yes I remember the Caroline interview, well at least I remember reading a snippet of it. Anyway, it is incredibly sweet of Miles to make a song for a friend. I think the name "Caroline" was probably chosen because the vibes were giving oldies and Caroline was a common name to sing about in a lot of old songs which we know Miles loves. I'm definitely sure he replaced the name of whoever he was singing about, mostly because, most people would prefer some privacy to their problems. I think lots of people replace names if a song is dedicated to someone for privacy and I think that's very important. Still, it's incredibly sweet, Miles is such a nice turtle to make a whole song dedicated to someone going through a rough patch, it kinda feels like a gift now, knowing the back story. Like I said, musicians obvious form of expression is music, so this song feels like Miles' gift truly from the heart to whoever this person is.
I'm glad you took note of what I said about metaphors! I kinda wanted to mention it because Alex' lyrics have always been very out there. Most of the time they mean something else entirely and the words or objects he used are just symbols of things, ESPECIALLY in more recent albums like TBH+C and The Car. Also definitely in ETYCTE, there's lyrics there that are definitely deeper or possibly, shallower, than we think. We will never really know for sure.
Miles is, I think, more upfront in his lyrics, less symbolism and more emotion, while I like to think Alex hides his emotion in the symbolism. Don't get me wrong, Miles still has a lot of references and hidden things in his music, but I also think he's a lot more straightforward with his feelings. That's why I think his relationship with Alex is very good, creative wise. They can make music together that balances out, this beautiful mix of symbolism and pure emotion and everything in between. I can understand however, how it can possibly be difficult to have a relationship with someone who, like Alex, is more recluse. Alex is so good at hiding feelings in symbolism, I have this inkling it might be the same in real life, you can kind of tell too, in his lyrics, how he tends to be the type of person to hide, then proceed to regret doing so.
The references quote, that really hit me because that was one of the first quotes I saw when I joined the fandom (which was pretty recent). I think you can tell that that quote hit me very much because of how I mention the word "veil" or "behind the curtain" in previous answers that I've done.
Hehe SOS Cover also my favorite, and thank you for agreeing with me on the labels point <3
You're making total sense! Really I feel I AM the one who doesn't make sense, please do let me know if I stray to far from the topic. About the Golden Trunks Analysis, I'd love your help <3 Your ideas are quite wonderful and I'd love to see what you have to say as well. Please do give me a message in my chats if you want to have a shared analysis with me :DD. Thank you friend! I'll miss you until your return <3
P.S. I do think they've been in touch! I definitely think they've been in touch maybe around 2021? I heard they've had dinner on multiple occasions, and maybe some other things, but other than that, I think they have yeah! And we all know about Miles, the big tease he is, if he was interacting with Alex again, he'd probably only reveal little snippets and break our hearts HAHAHAHAH

#girl help, #I already have so many headcanons for this au I'm not writing. GIVE US YOUR THE MOLINAS FOSTER REGGIE HEADCANONS PLZ
OKAY SO...
-When Reggie calls Luke, he storms out of the house to go and find him and Emily is all 'where are you going it's a school night' and Luke is like: 'this isn't a music thing, mom, I'm not even bringing my song book, see, Reggie's in trouble, some girl said something about a foster family' and he shows her the text Julie sent him with the address and before he's finish speaking Emily grabbed her coat like: That's all the way across town, don't be ridiculous, you're not biking there at this hour. Are we picking Alex up along the way?
-Because Emily Patterson may hate the rock and roll lifestyle her son is chasing but she loves his friends and how close they all are. She is 100% willing to distract the Mercers so Alex and Luke can sneak out and steal the car (“Alex has his license, right? I'll leave the keys in the ignition”) if the Mercers won’t let Alex go and Luke is gleeful but also like: who are you and what have you done to my mother.
-Like I said in the tags, Carlos took one look at Reggie and was like: I’m going to go wait on the porch to intercept Tía Victoria. Because the last thing that shell-shocked, emotional wreck of a white boy needs right now is the full brunt of a Concerned Tía. They go to Target to get Reggie some essentials like shampoo and snacks and clean socks and anything else Carlos can think of to keep her distracted.
-When Victoria finally did meet Reggie she immediately was like: I am going to feed this boy so many family recipes.
-The Molinas wanted to foster and got approved right before Rose got sick, so they put in a hiatus with the county and Ray talked to Julie and Carlos about finally accepting placements like they discussed as a family about a year after she died. It was a family decision, made right after the ‘we don’t really want to move’ one. They kind of also see it as honouring Rose’s legacy.
-Carlos is like: heck yes older brother who will play video games with me? Win-win.
-Is Ray secretly really excited to have a kid who takes an interest in his work (for real, not just to distract him like Julie and Carlos usually do)? Maybe.
-Ray made sure to put a little notebook and some pens on the bedside table so Reggie would have somewhere to write down his feelings. Reggie starts using it after his first session with Dr Turner. And if half the pages are country lyrics, well, that’s fine too.
-Ray makes Reggie hot chocolate when he has nightmares and is a good dad that’s it that’s the headcanon.
-They encourage Reggie to decorate his room a little and Victoria shows up with a giant blanket in the same pattern as Reggie’s flannel and he tries not to cry about it.
-Reggie gets an allowance and is so confused like: free money? For existing? Is this for helping with the dishes because I just wanted to hang out with Ray and soak up parental approval help out.
-You know Sunset Curve just adopts Julie and Carlos as family as soon as they see they’re nice to Reggie. Bobby is 100% a shitlord who encourages Carlos’ ghost hunting and maybe takes him to ‘haunted houses’ (aka his rich uncle’s house while he’s in the Hamptons) and rigs stuff to fall off the mantle dramatically at just the right moment. Reggie and Luke and Carlos have epic Mario Kart battles. Alex and Reggie will let themselves be dragged to ‘Girls Night’ with Julie and Flynn.
-Just imagine Alex getting his toenails painted because he’s too scared of his parents seeing him with even a leftover smudge of nail polish on his fingers. And nobody mentions it when he gets kind of emotional after Flynn is done (baby pink with a shimmery sparkle finish).
-Luke is furious when he finds out Julie was kicked out of the music program and they totally scheme to sneak into Julie’s school to help her win her spot back. (He is also a liiiittle jealous Julie gets to go to Los Feliz Performing Arts which just makes sneaking into the school with all their instruments so much more fun.)
-Listen just imagine Bobby and Alex trying to sneak in a drum set through the halls while Reggie walks backwards and keeps whisper-shouting when to duck their heads when they pass a classroom door.
-Ray is kind of mad Reggie skipped school but when he finds out Julie is back in the program he is also kind of like: welp I guess I have not one new son, but four. (Also hello four new sons please go hide somewhere that is not here before Tía Victoria gets here to shout about Reggie skipping school.)
-After that, Sunset Curve is totally invited to come rehearse in Rose’s studio. (After Ray and Julie and Carlos discussed it of course.) Julie starts hanging out too and she and Luke get into their little songwriter-crush thing. Reggie is like: Alex, you’re a brother. Do I give Luke the shovel talk now, or after they realise they’re in love?
-Ray is so happy these boys gave Julie her music back. So maybe he pretends he doesn’t know that Luke sometimes crashes in the studio after a fight with his mother. And he never mentions it when Alex starts sleeping over almost every Saturday to get out of going to church on Sunday with his parents.

I Tried To Write A Song To Make You Blush
Alex Turner x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: (SIAS!) Alex writes a song about you.
warnings: fluff, that's it
word count: 1.2k (drabble)
- Request from wattpad
a/n: this is pretty short, but I think it turned out okay
✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑ ✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
The rain splattering on the roof was perhaps the most calming thing to you. The house was quiet, the only noise that you would be able to hear was your own breaths. You felt cold, lonely, and tired in your bed, and you searched for Alex in the dark, feeling around the bed for him, thinking that maybe he'd rolled over to the other side of the bed, but he wasn't there.
You forced your eyes open, blinking them a few times to try and wake yourself up a little bit more, sitting up a little. You looked around the room, looking towards the bathroom to see if he'd just gotten up to use it, but the light wasn't on.
You forced yourself out of bed, wanting find Alex and cuddle up to him, to have his warm skin against yours. You padded down the hallway, hearing his guitar strums coming from the family room. "Al?" you called, walking into the family room, seeing him sitting in the sofa in his sweatpants, writing in his notebook that he used to write songs, holding his guitar.
"Al?" you repeated, walking over to him, wrapping your arms around his neck from behind. You must have snapped him out of his thoughts, taking him by surprise, turning around to face you almost instantly. "Oh, hey, love," he said as you let go of him and walked around to sit down, laying your head down on his shoulder, closing your eyes. "Why aren't you in bed, it's nearly three in the morning?" you asked, placing a chaste kiss to his neck.
"Is it?" he asked, looking over at the clock hanging up on the wall. "Oh. I guess it is."
"Come back to bed, Al," you said sleepily, so close to falling asleep against his shoulder, but at the same time, so far away, wanting to lay down beside him and cuddle up next to him.
"I wish I could, but I've got finish this song before I forget," he said, looking over the lyrics he'd written no more than a few minutes ago. "What's the song about?" you asked, going with his thought process, knowing that no matter how hard you tried, he wouldn't go back to bed without finishing the song, just like what had happened on the previous album.
"Well, it's about this person, and they're absolutely perfect, and they're on my mind all the time, and I want to show them that ... but in a song. And ... I don't want to say in the song that they're perfect, even though they are. So, I'm trying to figure out what to say," he explained, scratching the back of his head, messing up the big mop of hair that you liked to call his 'George Harrison' haircut. "You're an amazing song writer, I'm sure that you'll figure it out," you said, getting up.
Alex quickly grabbed your hand when you stood up, making you turn to face him. "Where are you going?" he asked, not wanting you to leave him, didn't want to be alone.
"Well, since you won't come back to bed, and you're practically taking up the whole couch with your music stuff, I'm going to lay against the wall," you laughed, going to the wall closest to the couch, laying down in the floor on your front, arms folded to keep your head off the ground. your side was against the wall and you closed your eyes, feeling Alex looking at you.
"Why are you looking at me, Al?" you asked nearly half asleep.
"No reason, you just gave me an idea for the song," he said, writing something down in his notebook very quickly, saying it to himself without you hearing. He looked out the window, another idea coming to him. "Love ... you look really, really pretty with the rain behind you," he said, taking in the beautiful sight of you and the rain in front of him.
"Thank you, Al," you said. The next few minutes were quiet, the only sounds that you could hear was the rain, Alex's deep breaths, his small guitar strums, and the sound of his pencil writing. You were nearly asleep when you heard Alex say your name, calling you over to the couch. You slowly got up and walked back over to the couch, sitting down beside him. "I think ... I think I have the song done ... or mostly done, at least," he said, picking up his guitar. "Can I sing it to you?"
You nodded and he grabbed his pick, starting to strum his guitar.
"She's thunderstorms. Lying on her front, up against the wall. She's thunderstorms.
I've been felling foolish, you should try it. She came and substituted the peace and quiet for acrobatic blood. Flow constanting her? Cheating heartbeat, rapid fire."
You watched him closely as he sang the chorus, not wanting to miss a single part of his performance. His voice and guitar strums echoed throughout the house. You may have been tired but you made sure to keep your eyes open, his performance captivating you.
"She's been loop-the-looping around my mind. Her motorcycle boots give me this kind of acrobatic blood, concertina. Cheating heartbeat, rapid fire."
"She's thunderstorms. Lying on her front, up against the wall. She's thunderstorms.
In an unusual place, when you're feeling far away, she does what the night does to the day. She's thunderstorms. Lying on her front, up against the wall. She's thunderstorms, she's thunderstorms."
He stopped strumming, turning towards you to ask you if the song was any good. "A-Alex, that ... that was absolutely amazing. It's so good," you said, giving him a big hug, kissing his cheek, then his lips.
He let out a sigh of relief, kissing you back deeply. "Thank god, I were scared that you weren't going to like it ... since ... y'know I kind of wrote it about you," he said, saying the last part quietly, hoping you wouldn't hear it, but you did hear it.
"I-it's about me?" you asked, thinking about it even more. 'She's thunderstorms' it was storming and you were lying on your front, that's where he got it from. "Uh, um, yeah it is. I did say that they were on my mind all the time, didn't I?" he said, scratching the back of his head.
"Oh, Alex, you're such a charmer," you said, kissing him again. Though, you were still tired, so you decided to drag Alex back to bed with you. "Night, Al. I love you."
"Goodnight, love. I love you, too."

WITH LOVE, THE GOSTS | Julie and The Phantoms - Part Three
Tumblr media
.•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•.
Author’s Note: I decided that this fic trilogy occurs a year after the season one final, making Julie and Y/N almost (or already) 17. Also… this part turned out waaay longer than expected. Which is why there is going to be a fourth part because I have one last idea but didn’t want to rush to write it. And to think this all started because of a rushed (haha) 1k Oneshot. I should really start to write more spontaneously, it seems like good things come out of it. Anyway, Enjoy! :D
Songs mentioned in this chapter (in this order): Now or Never & Wake Up by JaTP | Don't Stop Me Now by Queen | Rude by MAGIC! | Don’t Laugh At Me by Mark Wills | Don’t You Worry ’Bout a Thing by Tori Kelly | Still Learning by Halsey | Ayo Technology by 50 Cent | My version of My Name Is Luke by Trevor Wilson | Let’s Forget About It by Lisa Loeb | Let's Just Get Naked Lyrics by Joan Osborne | Hey by Pixies
word count: ~ 3.9k
summary: Even after meeting the boys they still aren’t tired of helping you out and they each have their own little ways to do it.
warnings:  // (english is not my first language, not beta-read)
| PART ONE | PART TWO |
.•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•..•´¯`•.
Knowing that ghosts existed was an absurd feeling (even though you had always believed or hoped that there was more out there than just this world, especially with all those planets that had been discovered by NASA), but knowing that there were three certain ghosts that liked you enough to kindly haunt you, well… that was just plain unimaginable somehow. Yet, still less anxiety awakening than you expected.
After Julie let you meet the guys for the first time you thought you were prepared to accept that you would not be able to talk to them unless they played something (after all, you had Flynn to groan about that), but the occasional giggle from Julie and her glances into nothing still sent chills down your spine.
So you started to always look around very suspiciously whenever you were over at her house and make obscene hand movements just to be sure that the boys would move before you walked somewhere or sat down (which just earned chuckles from Flynn and annoyed sighs from Julie - “Just because you can’t see them, doesn’t mean they can’t see you. They know where you are, so please stop, or else my dad will call your parents and send you to Dr Turner as well.” The boys found it hilarious and liked to imitate you whenever they came too close to you.)
The boys also still kept doing little things for you, just not so in secret anymore (though… Reggie was never one for subtlety). Whenever you seemed to have had a bad day (or whenever they just wanted to make you smile) you knew you could count on them having something prepared for you.
You soon discovered that anything related to food (which sometimes were extremely odd and bizarre combinations) was Luke’s doing (except for pizza and meatballs, according to Julie that was always Reggie). And you knew it was Alex whenever it was something more calm and soothing, yet sometimes a little bit clumsy. And whenever it was blatantly obvious and/or slightly weird (in a good way!) it was Reggie.
Well, no. Not always in a good way. One time you came back from school and your whole room was filled with glitter and butterflies and a small note with a little ‘Sorry!’ on it was pinned to your desk - cleaning that had been a pain in the a-. But you couldn’t be angry at Reggie, even though you weren’t quite sure what his ultimate goal would have been.
Speaking of REGGIE...
All those helpful little deeds and nice gestures were always done within the limits of your house (mostly room) or Julie’s house and the studio, which is why you almost let out a loud yelp when suddenly during a math test your pen started to move on his own, filling out the empty space (because yes, you hadn’t been doing very much other than staring helplessly at the paper in front of you). Quickly you grabbed the pen as well (loosely and while trying to ignore the fact that you were practically holding hands with one of the guys) so that nobody would see a floating pen as you did a few weeks ago at Christmas.
From the corners of your eyes, you saw Julie slightly move her head towards you, as if she was listening to you - or rather someone right beside or behind you. ‘Of course. I can’t see them, so the only way to help me is by physically grabbing the pen, but Julie can hear and see them, so they (whoever this is - because let’s be honest, none of the guys really looks like a math genius) only have to tell her the corrects solutions and how to get there. My money’s on Alex.’
You were kind of shocked, and weirdly proud when Julie came up to you after class and said: “Reggie’s not so questionable after all, huh?” (Though… you should’ve guessed it, you did say subtlety wasn’t Reggie’s strong suit.) So you just giggled and shook your head while leaving some of your books in your locker (alongside the fact that Reggie was probably almost (if not!) hugging you from behind - you shuddered at that thought, it’s not like you were already awkward around living boys your age, no need to add ghosts to that list!)
A week later you and Julie entered the studio with blank faces and hanging shoulders. Julie threw a weak little wave towards the piano and sighed while you threw the blankets and snacks you were holding carelessly on the ground and let yourself fall face-first onto the couch, not being able to hide your smile anymore.
“We got our math exams back… yes the one Reggie helped us with.”
You couldn’t see what Julie was doing, but you heard her gasp and whisper “No! Reggie…” after a while. Then she was standing beside you, nudging your shoulder and willing you to sit up, but you didn’t bulge, needing a few more seconds to wipe the smile off your face again.
Faking to disgruntledly accept defeat as Julie’s nudges got stronger (the couch was really comfortable, you totally understood Luke now) you sat up and looked at Julie. “Who’s going to tell them?” you said with a heavy voice and felt how the couch dipped beside you. Raising your eyebrows you quickly glanced to the side (obviously not seeing anybody or anything) and looked back at Julie questioningly.
She nodded, telling you that it was indeed Reggie and gave you the okay to drop the bomb.
You sighed as you turned back around, facing the wall on the other side of the studio and hoped that Reggie would ignore the fact that you were probably talking to his ear or something. “So Reggie… the help you gave us on the math final? Well…,” you couldn’t keep your face straight any longer and jumped onto the couch, “WE ACED IT! I WOULD HUG YOU IF YOU WEREN’T MADE OUT OF CUTE AIR!” (Okay… maybe there was a little bit too much serotonin involved.)
Julie added smiling, “And I’m happy to announce that due to my good grades my father allowed Julie and The Phantoms to play at the upcoming Summer Music Festival!”
A guitar riff filled the studio, followed by a short drum intro and with a ‘puff!’ the boys appeared in front of you, beaming and glowing at the news. Reggie even threw a wink at you when you smiled back and said: “Thank you!”
Don't look down 'Cause we're still rising Up right now And even if we hit the ground We'll still fly Keep dreaming like we'll live forever But live it like it's now or never!
This allowed LUKE…
The music festival was an experience you would never forget. You were very happy Ray managed to persuade your parents to let you accompany Julie (sadly Flynn had no such luck). Not only did you turn 17 and the boys made sure to have the whole crowd sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to you (as soon as you were back home you would add an extra point to your to-do: ‘find out how to kill ghosts a second time’), but the boys rocked the stage and Julie stood up taller and shined brighter than ever before.
Gone (yet not forgotten) were the painful shocks and the fear of never performing again and the serenity of the guys was visible.
It was the last night of the music festival when Julie got the phone call from her father. He would come by to get her the next morning and they would drive directly to visit other family members and spend the rest of the summer holidays there.
Of course, Julie was excited to see her cousins and aunts and uncles again, but she also felt bad to leave you to drive back alone (you had come with your car jam-packed with all the necessary equipment you needed and that wasn’t provided by the festival).
“Don’t worry! It’s only a four-hour drive! I’ve got good music, podcasts and audiobooks to keep me company and back home Flynn will be waiting. It sadly looks like I’m going to survive without you.”
Early the next morning Julie and some newfound fans of Julie and The Phantoms helped you load the equipment into your car and you said goodbye to Julie. Expecting the boys to just directly puff back to Los Feliz you didn’t waste any time and entered your car, connected your phone with the stereo and started to blast your favourite Broadway musicals.
You must’ve been on the road for half an hour when suddenly the playlist stopped and ‘Wake Up’ started to play.
So wake that spirit, spirit!
Confused you scrunched up your nose and touched the touch screen displaying the music system, trying to change it back to your playlist. But instead, the music changed yet again.
(Don't stop me now) 'Cause I'm having a good time (Don't stop me now) Yes, I'm havin' a good time I don't want to stop at all
“What the hell?” you muttered, staring at your stereo for a quick second before focusing back on the road, “Why you always going crazy on me dude?”
Once again the music switched.
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too?
It took you a hot minute to understand what was going on and then you couldn’t stop laughing.
Don't laugh at me, don't call me names Don't get your pleasure from my pain
“Oh, I’m sorry,” you said mockingly, looking at the empty passenger seat, guessing that that’s where your invisible friend was sitting. “Your pain? I’m not the one who is able to puff wherever and whenever their heart desires and who sneaks up on innocent people.”
Silence.
“For what it’s worth. I’m sorry. I really am. It’s not like you choose this life, you deserved better than this. But I’m really glad I was able to get to know you. I’m really thankful for the light and happiness you brought back into Julie’s life.”
Don't you worry 'bout a thing
But I'm still learnin' to
using technology
You laughed. “Impressive skills nevertheless. Knowing three fitting songs and then changing them at the right time? Let me guess, Luke? Because I don’t think all of you three would fit into my tiny car full of musical equipment.”
At first, there was no music yet again, but then the slow melody of a (for you) well-known song flooded your car. It was the one Trevor Wilson song you never understood until you met the boys, the one song that was so totally different to his usual rock sound (except for the refrains, which, as you later would find out, were parts of the original lyrics Luke wrote for his version of the song).
I sing to remember the stories that used to be But I don’t write to create what could have been And as I scream words into the darkness around me They come out like a dying whisper
The kindest thing to do is to silence them and let them die To unleash my heartfelt sorrow into the sky  And diminish the will to fight That pulses like fire and screams with pain through my veins
But life’s not always beautiful, it’s rare So I’mma chase it, watch you make it
Don’t need to introduce himself You will want to know his name Pushing your foundations down  He is here to stay
Don’t call him a breeze when he’s a hurricane Don’t call him a tremble when he’s an earthquake Don’t call him an inconvenience Please just say his name
Leaving lyrics in my hands That I swallow like pills Like hurtful words, they rip and claw And press painfully against my chest
But no matter how painful they are I will soak them up, thinking of our hopes and wishes And as each word pushes a new pulse through my veins I keep staring out on the grave of our shared space of mind
Life’s not always beautiful, but it’s rare So I’mma chase it, watch you make it
Don’t need to introduce himself You will want to know his name Pushing your foundations down  He is here to stay
Don’t call him a spark when he’s a lightning bolt Don’t call him a flicker when he’s a raging flame Don’t you dare to underestimate him Please just say his name
But even when the word flood finally comes to an end Fidgeting hands remind me of music never played
I owe him my voice I owe him my sound
So I give him this time I give him this space To sing it out loud To let him declare And let me be proud
What’s his name? (His name is Luke!) What’s his name? (His name is Luke!) What’s his name? (His name is Luke!)
How long do we say his name? (Until we explode!)
My name is Luke! (Tell your friends!)
Tears were rolling down your cheeks, the song now more emotional than ever before. You couldn’t imagine how this song must affect Luke. Thinking that his bandmate abandoned him (which honestly… he kind of did, only mentioning him in one song, not giving any money to their parents and so on) up until he heard the song for the first time.
“Luke…”
Forget about it Let's forget about it
The ensuing silence wasn’t awkward. You hummed along to the music Luke selected, sometimes it were old classics (probably his favourites), other times it seemed to be random newer hits he probably never heard before mixed with some songs from your favourite playlists.
It was nearing midday and your stomach made itself known. As if on cue a road sign hinted at a diner just up ahead. Setting the blinker you pulled into the parking lot a few moments later.
“I hope you don’t mind. I know home’s only like an hour away, but...” you began to trail off, not knowing where to look at and your stomach finished your sentence. And before you were able to grab the door handle it sprung wide open.
“Uh, what a gentleman. Thank you very much.”
The meal was over in a flash and once more you realised how much the boys actually knew about you without having actually interacted with you (perks of seeing other people without being seen themselves?).
It’s like Luke could read your wishes just from your facial expressions. Whenever you needed salt or pepper they were right there. Whenever something was too salty or had too much pepper on your drink was being pushed closer to your side. And when you accidentally spilt something and needed more napkins they magically appeared.
When you then spotted a cute little guitar keychain that reminded you of Luke that was being sold as a souvenir at the check-out it was suddenly safely tucked into your back pocket (though that was really really risky, and while you did not condone it you couldn’t really stop a ghost).
Back in your car, you didn’t even bother to turn on the stereo, knowing that Luke would take over as soon as your hands were on the steering wheel again.
However, a glance to your right presented you with a map of your surroundings, a big x hastily drawn over the Silverwood Lake in San Bernardino, which was basically just around the corner.
“You want to go swimming? We- I just ate! And my bathing suit is somewhere under that mountain of equipment on the backseat.”
Let's just get naked, just for a laugh Let's just get naked It's a trip and a half
You laughed at that, rolling your eyes and shaking your head, before stowing the map away and turning on the car. “I guess catching Reggie in the shower isn’t enough anymore?”
Hey!
“You started making it weird buddy.”
It had started to rain when you finally pulled up in your driveway, but you couldn’t be bothered to rush inside, enjoying the feeling of the cooling wetness on your skin.
“Look at that,” you said to nobody in particular, not knowing if Luke was still around or if he puffed back to the garage, “I didn’t even need to go swimming after all.”
He was. Sitting in the passenger seat, face on his arms while he leaned on the open car window, he watched you dance in the rain with a smile on his face. He was glad he decided to stick around and keep you company on that road trip. You gave him the courage to listen to My Name Is Luke for the first time (and getting to see you smile while showing off his impressive music knowledge was a bonus too). Because without knowing, you were doing little deeds for the boys too.
And made ALEX…
Whoever wrote that “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain”-quote totally forgot to mention how dangerous small summer storms can be.
Well sure, it might have been your fault for staying out for too long and deciding to let the sun that came out a little bit later dry you instead of changing into fresh and dry clothes, but whatever happened happened and you got sick. (It’s not like you had anything better to do during the last few days of your summer holidays, right?)
Flynn had been a great friend and hung out almost daily at your house, playing board games, watching movies or tv or even just discussing upcoming Julie and The Phantoms possibilities with you. But your dearest little helper had been Alex.
The blond drummer had turned into the tall brother you never had but always wanted (focus on tall because the age thing with ghosts is seriously confusing) even if he was invisible to you 100% of the time. You had the same interests and were able to bond without actually having to say any words, little gestures and reciprocations on your side were more than enough.
Julie had come up with an easy solution and had bought you some of those sound buzzers (like the ones that dogs and cats use to communicate with their owners) and recorded some simple words and phrases the boys liked to use on them. Now the boys just had to press them to be able to communicate with you without having to use pen and paper or Julie herself (sure your parents were a little bit weary and confused, but you said it was for a longer school research project and that shut them up).
Now, feeling way better than during the last few days, but still very tired, you were sitting in your bed, not really focused on the tv show (or was it a movie?) that was playing on your computer. You had been contemplating and mentally preparing yourself to get something to eat and to drink for the past 15 minutes, but the thoughts alone were exhausting and binding you to the bed. Just then a tray with a water bottle, meds and a fruit bowl floated into your room.
Suddenly wide awake and full of energy you clumsily jumped out of your bed and grabbed the tray, throwing a quick glance out of the door to see if your parents were around and slammed the door shut, wincing at the loud sound and hoping that Alex had walked out of the way (not that it would have hurt him, but you know - rude).
“Rude.”
See? He thought the same. (Julie had to specifically add this word for Alex.)
“I know, I know. I’m sorry. But I would like not to get murdered or have Sam and Dean Winchester on my back because my parents think I’m possessed and need to be exorcised.”
“Me.”
“You what?”
“Me.”
“Alex… I need more context.”
“I do. Me.”
You just blinked blankly at the sound buzzers, trying to piece together what Alex was trying to say.
“Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. M-”
“THAT’S ENOUGH Y/N! WHATEVER THAT SCHOOL PROJECT IS, TELL IT I HEARD IT AND I DON’T CARE WHAT IT WANTS!” you heard your father's scream come muffled through the door.
The audience laughter from sitcoms filled your room and you groaned, grabbing a pillow and smashing it against your face.
Faintly you heard the telltale sound of a pen scribbling something on paper and when you peeked from behind the pillow a note was floating in the air in front of you. “You mean exorcise ME! You would be the one surviving!”
“What? Oh my god… yeah okay, YOU get exorcised… same thing. Both aren’t allowed to happen. Forgive my fever brain.”
“No.”
“Fork you, Alex.”
“No.”
“I have Carlos on speed-dial, I’m sure he already came up with other methods to get rid of ghosts other than the salt thing. He already told me that he’s sorry and that he thinks I might get haunted by you too with the amount of time I spend at their house.”
“No. Food.”
Confused at that topic change it took you a few seconds to answer. “What?” Looking around your gaze landed on the tray that you had deposited on your desk. “Oh right! Boy, I completely forgot how thirsty and hungry I am. Did I say thank you? Fang u!” you mumbled with your mouth full of fruit.
“No. Food.”
You swallowed down your food and took a big gulp of water. “Yes Alex, thank you. I am eating. You see? Here I am, here’s the food. The food is here and now whoops - ifs gan!”
You could basically feel the annoyance radiating from the ghost and weren’t really shocked when the pen started to scribble something down again.
“No! Argh!” He really wrote Argh… that dork really wrote Argh! “You can be worse than Reggie sometimes, but you do it on purpose and I’m just sorry for Reggie. A) Carlos thinks he got rid of us by making a french dip and B) You’re awfully lively for a supposedly sick person. I might need to use the buzzers more and see what other reactions I can provoke from your parents.”
Crumbling the note in your hands you thought ‘Challenge accepted’. “You know what? I think I’mma go back on Reggie’s offer and actually let him introduce me to Wilbur. He might know some stuff I could use to blackmail you. And you’re right! I feel much better, just very tired, but that’s nothing a little bit of fresh air can’t fix! Toodles!”
You left your room, leaving a flabbergasted ghost behind who had lost his snapback with the number of times he had been combing through his hair with his hands. And while angrily pressing a pink buzzer, the buzzer wasn't the only thing that screamed “WILLIAM!” after the girl. (That was another important sound Alex wanted to have recorded.)

updated version to my aesthetic-ish spotify playlists:
You can request for certain concepts here! and check the masterlist to my character playlists here!
New ones:
𝔽𝕣𝕚𝕕𝕒𝕪: the name is taken from the classic The Cure song, you can find songs that in my heart embody the feeling of falling and being in love.
𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗳 '𝟬𝟭: songs i like to sing to and i think don’t come out half bad
𝒫𝓇𝒾𝓂𝒶𝒹𝑜𝓃𝓃𝒶 : A songs recopilation that in my opinion can’t just be listened to, they need to performed...
Empowered, ig: very self-explanatory and yes the girl in the cover is me
𝐿𝑒𝓉'𝓈 𝒹𝒶𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓀𝒾𝓉𝒸𝒽𝑒𝓃, 𝒹𝒶𝓇𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔: imagine yourself looking out the window, the radio plays softly in the background as you feel the arms of your beloved wrap themselves around your frame, spinning you to face them as they whisper: let’s dance, darling
𝕏: A brief introduction to myself, "Me (101)" if you like...
𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒷𝒶𝓃𝒹?: not mine per-say but, I made this with @strxngerlies, it’s sort of a mash-up between my X playlist and her A playlist
𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢, 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜: finally a bilingual playlist, these are songs I like to play when I’m sad and feel like screaming out, plain and simple
ʙᴇʟᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ɪᴛ ᴍɪɢʜᴛ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ: opposite to the last playlist, this is meant for happier times, maybe jumping around until you’re left breathless from belting out the lyrics to these songs
𝔦𝔱'𝔰 3 𝔞𝔪 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔴𝔢 𝔡𝔬𝔫'𝔱 𝔠𝔞𝔯𝔢 𝔥𝔬𝔴 𝔩𝔬𝔲𝔡 𝔴𝔢'𝔯𝔢 𝔟𝔢𝔦𝔫𝔤: when i made this playlist I pictured myself singing this late at night with my friends in the street, you can feel a buzz in your head and maybe in your heart, but not a single drop of alcohol has graced your tounge, you just feel alive. some of this songs are sad, some are happier, who cares anyways
ʞunɹp ʇou ʎlǝʇıuıɟǝp ɯ,ı: i definitely AM drunk songs that I like to sing to when drunk, idk they have a je ne sais quoi about them
Old ones (you can also find them here, i literally copy-pasted the post, whoops):
Crazy: very self-explanatory, this is a playlist that has some of my favorite songs related to being crazy, acting crazy or faking craziness or that make me wanna do things without thinking about the consequences
Not interested: based on an Alex Turner fanfiction by @blueberryaltavista
... u r still in my mind: kinda personal talks about my on and off relationship with this boy that was no good for me. He played with my heart, took advantage of my precarious mental health, but he made me feel safe, weird? ik, tmi? yes. I made the playlist to cleanse...
Dance: kinda based on a tumblr post, not sure by who tbh sorry, mainly 80′s and 70′s songs that put me in a dancing mood, sexy that is
Love Means Trouble: based on my Nikki Sixx story of the same name, it’s basically the storyline tbh, and the music is basically basic indie girl, sorry
Sad in quarantine: very self-explanatory as well, i got very sad this quarantine, got nostalgic, weird combination, but works for me tbh
Love Means Toruble: Soundtrack: songs i mention in the story, will be updated as I update the story
𝒸𝒽𝒾𝓁𝓁, 𝒷𝓇𝑜: songs that make me feel calm, they’re not necessarily lofi, and I think this playlist represents my music taste quite well (I made this with @strxngerlies), you can probably play this while doing homework, idk

bundle of love (alex turner x reader)
description: a very fluffy alex learns big news regarding your child-to-be
word count: 2.3k
warnings: none
she looks as if she’s blowing a kiss at me, and suddenly the sky is a scissor / sitting on the floor with a tambourine / crushing up a bundle of love
**************
When a muffled sound pulled you out of your sleep, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes and groan. For a brief moment you thought it might be something from outside, that when you rolled over in your bed you’d find your husband sleeping soundly, but you knew that just wasn’t the case. The sound was all too familiar for it to not have been Alex and the space behind you was all too cold for him to still be sleeping there. When you rolled over, you frowned at the empty place in the bed, and muttered a few profanities to yourself when you looked over at the clock.
“God dammit, Alex. 3 a.m.”
You huffed as you did your best to rise up out of bed - the large bump that was your stomach making things a bit more difficult than normal - before grabbing your silk house robe and slippers and shuffling towards your bedroom door. As soon as you opened it, the noise that had woken you became clear and far louder, causing you to once again mumble some not-so-nice words to yourself as you walked toward the living room.
“Al, it’s three in the morning. Can you please go to bed?” You nearly had to yell over the sound of your husband playing his guitar. When you had come around the corner into the living room, you found him on the floor with sheets of music and lyrics sprawled out everywhere, strumming an acoustic guitar.
“Hey, darling!” He chirped and smiled as you came around the couch and stood beside him, but his expression quickly changed. “I’ve woken you, haven't I?”
“Yes Alexander, you woke me. I don’t know how you thought you wouldn’t, with that bloody guitar and these thin walls.” You tisked, and put an arm on his shoulder.
He smiled sheepishly up at you and put an arm around both of your legs. “Would you mind helping me, for just a second? I wanna get this hook before I go to bed, and Miles isn’t here to be my tambourine-ist. I’ll only be a few minutes, I promise.”
You sighed and used the couch and his shoulder to support you as you lowered yourself onto the soft carpet beside him. “Fine. Maybe some of the musical talent will rub off on the baby if I’m around you while you’re working more.”
You looked at your husband to find him beaming down at your belly. Or, well, the thing growing in your belly. The sight made you smile as well, the way he looked at your future child was so sweet it put tears in your eyes, he had never looked at anything like he did at your bump. His sweet brown irises held a different sort of twinkle, the creases around his eyes seemed deeper yet softer, and his lips held a sort of content smile that could only be associated with unrequited love. He loved you, he loved the house the two of you owned, he loved the dog the two of you had adopted a few years back, but he loved nothing like you knew he loved your unborn child. He constantly had his hands on your stomach, feeling for little kicks and movements, he couldn’t help but smile any time you wore anything that showed your bump off, and - he didn’t know that you knew this - but sometimes at night after he thought you were asleep he’d lay next to your tum and sing softly to the baby. You thought it was absolutely precious and you could not wait to see the daddy-to-be’s face in a few months when your baby girl finally entered the world.
“Alright, darling. Here’s what I want you to do for me. Take this here tambourine, right, and just bang it along with what I’m playin’.” Alex passed you the instrument and gave you a tap on the thigh for encouragement. He gave you a little “one, two, three,” before beginning to strum his guitar, and within a few seconds you had caught onto the beat and began to play to the best of your ability. Alex wasn’t singing any lyrics, just humming a melody, and yet you thought it was one of the prettiest songs he had ever written. A large smile emerged on your face and you began to have a bit more fun playing the tambourine, bopping your head along and adding some fancy handwork to your playing.
You hardly noticed when Alex turned his attention to you, you were too caught up in your own little musical world to care about or acknowledge anything but the strumming of your lover’s guitar, his thick voice humming an unfinished melody, and the hiss of your tambourine. Alex’s face was lit up, his smile lines and crow's feet complimented his rosy cheeks, his tired eyes had a new sort of sparkle to them. When he stopped strumming abruptly and you were yanked out of your rhythm and back into the moment, you gave him a disappointed look.
“Why’d we stop? I was just starting to have fun!” You whined.
Alex let out a hearty laugh and pulled you close to him, so your head was resting in his shoulder and his arm was wrapped around you. “I got the hook, Love. You’re an absolute natural, only took me one try to find something that sounded right. Almost wanted to keep playing, though. You looked right gorgeous playin’ like that.” He placed a kiss on the top of your head.
You looked up at him with a look of adoration. He was so perfect, he always knew exactly how to send butterflies shooting through you, even years later. “Aw, Al.”
“I love you so much Sweetheart. Every time I look at you, the ring on my finger, the bed we share, the pup, everything. All I can think about is how happy I am to be here with you.” Alex whispered. “And now with this baby so close to being here, I just can’t believe it. Makes me want to cry. I’m literally the luckiest man alive.”
It took everything in you not to start bawling tears of joy yourself, what he had just said was so incredibly beautiful. You looked up at him once again and caressed his face. “You’re perfect, Alexander. You’re gonna be an incredible daddy. Our little girl is so lucky.”
“Little...girl?”
Your eyes widened. Your hand shot to cover your mouth. Fuck. Alex had wanted to wait to find out the sex of the baby until she was born, you were meant to keep it a secret just so you could buy the appropriate clothes and toys for the baby.
“Oh my God Alex, I can’t believe I’ve said that. I’m so sorry, baby.” You winced as you turned to face him completely, fully expecting to look at him and see an expression of disappointment. You had ruined his surprise.
However, when you looked at Alex, you were faced with something far different. His mouth was slightly ajar due to shock, but a massive grin was painted across his face, and tears were streaming down his face. “We’re having a baby girl?”
You nodded and your eyes filled with tears too. “We’re having a baby girl.”
Alex jumped up from the floor, a wild look on his face. “We’re having a baby girl,” he giggled, still not completely at terms with the information you had just slipped.
He held out a hand to help you off the ground, and once you stood up as well, he put his hands on your shoulders. “My love... my baby… My angel. My darling, my sweetheart, my princess…. My wife, my soulmate, the actual mother of my child… is having a beautiful baby girl with me.” Tears were still streaming down his face.
You couldn’t get any words out, you were too emotional. All you could do is smile and nod. Alex let out a broken laugh through his tears and pulled you in for a hug. His arms wrapped around you tightly, and when you snaked yours around his back he began rocking the two of you back and forth. You were both practically sobbing now, the realization that you were going to be the parents of a baby girl in only a few short months had finally really set in. Alex seemed to hug you for hours before pulling back and looking into your eyes once again. You giggled as you placed your hands on the sides of his face and wiped his tears away with your thumbs. He took a deep sigh and did the same for you, then he broke the silence.
“I want to name her Willow. We met in Willow park, I proposed to you under a willow tree, the first thing you planted in our garden was a willow sapling. I think it’s only fitting that our first baby is a Willow, too.”
You had never felt the way you felt at that moment. Your heart felt so full it could burst. Your smile was so wide you thought your face would tear. You felt so much love in your soul at that moment, you couldn’t even respond. All you could bring yourself to do was take the hands still cupping Alex’s face and pull them towards you. You attached your lips to his and he grinned into the kiss, moving his hands onto the small of your back and pulling you closer. The kiss was passionate but not lustful, your lips moved together gently and in harmony. It was as if the kiss was saying “I love you”. When Alex pulled out of the kiss, his lips were puffy and his cheeks red. It warmed your heart that even now, years after the two of you had met, the two of you still got flustered every once and awhile. Alex pressed his forehead to yours, so the tip of your nose was touching his and your eyes were staring up into his. Alex’s hands were on either side of your head, tangled in your hair. He said nothing, just looked at you with loving eyes and a toothy grin. You couldn’t help but chuckle a bit before patting his cheek.
“Alright, Daddy, off to bed. You won’t be able to do this late night stuff anymore when little miss Willow hits the world, so get used to it now,” you whispered and gave your husband a kiss on the forehead before making your way back to bed.
“Right behind you, Mum,” you heard Alex giggle, and he gave you a playful slap on the arse as the two of you reached your bedroom. Alex took off his shirt and practically jumped into bed, whereas you took your time to take off your robe, put your slippers away, and stretch your back before slowly strolling to bed. Alex had an impatient look on his face. “Please, for the love of God, Darling, get into bed. I want to say hi to my little angel before going to sleep.”
You shook your head slightly and chuckled, you knew exactly what he meant. When you finally slid into bed, Alex turned toward you and began tracing little circles on your tummy.
“You know, sometimes after you’ve fallen asleep, I like to sing to her.” Alex whispered.
“I know Al, it’s really sweet,” you beamed.
Alex looked up at you with furrowed brows. “You know? I always wait till you’ve gone to sleep, though.”
“Babe, it’s kind of hard to not know when there’s someone singing to your stomach. I’m only a few inches away from you,” you muttered. “I think it’s really quite precious, though. I never mind hearing your voice.”
Alex rested his head on your pelvis, so he was looking up at you and was right next to your swollen stomach. You began running a hand through his hair, and he cleared his throat. “Well, I guess I won’t have to wait for you to fall asleep then.”
You nodded and gave him an endearing look.
“And I know just the serenade for my two ladies tonight, I couldn’t stop thinking about it while we were in the living room. It was just too perfect.” Alex giggled.
You did your best to hide your excitement when Alex began softly humming the opening to That’s Where You’re Wrong. You were mesmerized as Alex stroked your stomach and began singing softly.
a pussyfooting setting sun
make a wish that weighs a ton
there are no handles for you to hold
and no understanding where it goes
you laid your head back into the pillow and gently shut your eyes as Alex kissed your stomach and started into the next verse.
jealousy in technicolor
fear by name, love by numbers
street light amber, wanderlust
hide her in a blunderbus
by the time Alex got to the chorus, which obviously was the part of the song that he was thinking of when he mentioned the song being ‘too perfect’ for tonight, you were practically asleep. Alex’s hands on your belly, his voice in your ear, his hair tangled in your fingers, it was all so perfect. If you could choose to have one moment last forever, it would have been that one.
she looks as if she’s blowing a kiss at me
and suddenly the sky is a scissor
sitting in the floor with a tambourine
crushing up a bundle of love
don’t take it so personally
you’re not the only one
that time has got it in for honey
that’s where you’re wrong
Alex’s voice faded out as you began to lose consciousness, the last thing you remember hearing was his final “oooh”s after the chorus, and then him kissing your bump once again before getting up and kissing your forehead. You mumbled an “I love you” to your husband as he laid down beside you and wrapped his arms around you, so your head was in his chest. He then tangled his legs in yours before letting out a deep sigh and shutting his eyes.
“I love you too.”

4, 23, and 42 for the songs ask!
Thank you! This was very fun to do! :D
4. A song that you're embarrassed to like
I Want- One Direction 🤦
I'm not a one direction fan by any means, but I find this song to be such a bop 😂
23. A song from the soundtrack of your favorite video game/movie/TV show
Piledriver Waltz- Alex Turner from the movie Submarine
I love this song so much, it's one of my favs! The movie's soundtrack was made by Alex Turner himself and it made me appreciate his writing style more. Plus, I just gotta say I love lyric, "You look like you've been for breakfast at the heartbreak hotel and sat in the back booth by pamphlets and the literature on how to lose. Your waitress was miserable and so was your food."
42. Your favorite "old" song (pre-90s)
Do you know how hard this is??? Many songs I've listened to when growing up was dated before the 90s. So I cheated on this one because I can't pick just one, I apologize in advance 😅
Can't Take My Eyes Off You- Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
Come on Eileen- Dexys Midnight Runners
Silver Lady- David Soul
Brown Eyed Girl- Van Morrison
Well there you have it! This was harder than what I expected because I was very tempted to listen to every song from my library 😂
Thank you again, here's some cobert cuteness for ya!

Clay Ok’s "shut up" Official Lyrics & Meaning. | Verified
“Clay Ok’s “shut up” is his debut solo after many years devoted to K-pop group MAY-B, leaving fans gasping for more with his honest lyrics and meaningful music video. His solo career started with a bang, the song peaked number nine on Billboard charts and has already surpassed seventeen million listens on streaming platforms in a matter of two months.”
I think it’s an important song not only for me, but for the people who care about me too. I’ve been looking forward to dissect this song in place other than my own mind because it’s been catching dust on iPhone notes, strange to think it’s out still... I can’t get over it.
Tumblr media
I cannot hold my tongue, you give me much to say I'm sweating bullets, nervous that you'll push away And when your eyes catch mine I know I talk too much So give me your two lips And baby, I'll shut up
This verse it’s the key of the song, however it was the last one I wrote because despite what I sing here I’m very quiet and that’s pretty obvious. I tend to not be so open, but I noticed that when I’m with people I feel comfortable or when I’m interested in something I can be annoying. So it’s me noticing that this person makes me open in a way of hoping they’ll kiss me, ‘cause that’s the ideal way of ending any tension, right?!
Tumblr media
Lying on the beach, the middle of December I'm thinking you're too cool to even remember My face, my hair, my eyes, my lips, and my name, hmm
This person is really something else, they’re and I’m average next to them. That’s another reason why I feel like talking, explaining myself, doing things that I’m not used to because I want them to remember me and the things that make me who I am even if I’m not being my most self.
Tumblr media
Lighting up that clove, your confidence is what I want I say a lot, I'm loud 'cause maybe you're the one Your hair, your eyes, your lips, and your name, hmm, baby
We all want to be noticed, I never think I did until I became a treinee. Suddenly I wanted to work hard as everyone there because I wanted to feel validated by my seniors, my mentors and the people that trusted me and counted on me, also it became something to prove to myself: That I could do it. Feeling loved it’s really good and I’ll never forget that feeling, I want to give it three times back and my music it’s the only way to do it. I’ll keep putting songs out whenever because it’s my calling and I love writing. Sorry, I got too caught up on emotions here. I’ll promise to try being confident for as long as I can ‘cause I know how now.
Tumblr media
You dress in all black, the middle of the summer You're smoother than you think You rock that Alex Turner Your style, your arms, wrapped in leather Makes me want you forever
*chuckles a lot* Oh this. Oh, boy. I saw a tweet, okay? I saw a damn tweet saying “oh my god Clay has a type” and... Okay. First thing’s first: Who never felt for Alex Turner? And also, is it wrong? I’m not embarrassed about it, honestly, is just funny how everyone it’s now taking interest in my love life and of course it’s my fault because I’m singing it but hey... What else can I say? I fell in love, he’s handsome and I’m probably gonna keep being this cheesy so I look forward to all your tweets in the future.
Tumblr media
But I cannot break this habit, pure anxiety Stuck here searching for some words that you might need Maybe you don't need them It's not what we're about And maybe I'll just slow it down
If you do find a place, a person or whatever that you seek for you and they accept you not only for who you are but also for what you love, then you should never give it up. I don’t think I write songs to be clear about things in my life, I write to take them off my chest and say what I might never be able to put into words if they aren’t sang? Does that make sense? With music I can open my heart more and I want to keep away all this anxiety, insecurity and just let them overflow all over me and whoever wants to listen to them. I just hope it finds their heart as it did mine, I think that’s it. I think that’s the meaning of the music as well, I’m just hoping that I can fit into this person and this relationship.
Tumblr media
I cannot hold my tongue, you give me much to say I'm sweating bullets, nervous that you'll push away And when your eyes catch mine I know I talk too much So give me your two lips And baby, I'll shut up
It’s both about anxiety of a new relationship, of getting to know someone, of hoping they remember you and also everything new that you start in your life. You don’t want to keep quiet about them, about whatever it is and what it feels to you but it’s good, when you’re together you want to kiss them, you want time to stop. I started writing this song a few years ago, picked it back last year and realized it was something I wanted to put out on my own. And it was a difficult process, but I’m very glad it happened. So like I said, means a lot to me.

Emily Kate
Toronto-based recording artist, Emily Kate perfectly bridges the gap between country and pop with her unique sound and lyrical storytelling. Pulling from real life experiences, her music conveys relatable thoughtful messages weaved with fresh, soulful melodies. Her meaning filled lyrics coupled with her warm sound is often described as Kelsea Ballerini meets a motivational speaker. She has just released her new EP All In. “These songs have taught me how to love myself, feel inspired, chase my dreams, have fun and grow as a person,” says Emily. “They've been my reminder and helped me through heartbreaks, insecurities, and now they get to be yours. All In features a track which I wrote the morning after a fun night out. This upbeat song is about going out with friends and meeting someone who takes your breath away. Its lyrics are a twist on the common saying, you had me at hello, and instead, this song is about someone having you ‘The Whole Time.’” Listen below.

Jordana Talsky
Jordana Talsky is a singer-songwriter and vocal looper who fuses multi-genre influences into her own sound. She accompanies herself by voice with a Roland Boss RC505 loop station. Her ethos is to incorporate digital means into live performance in an organic way, and with the loop machine, she creates a choir on the spot with no pre-recorded parts. Her new single ‘Oh Yeah,’ represents a moment of awakening, like when you remember something you had forgotten about a dream that all of a sudden comes back in a flash, a moment to stand outside of yourself and contemplate, embrace, and inquire of your life. “It takes work, all the time, to choose not to look away and to be honest with ourselves,” says Jordana. “These moments, delicate and challenging, are insights into our authentic selves, that may offer a fresh vantage point from which we can choose to heal and evolve. Inspirational, fun and harmony-rich indie-pop, ‘Oh Yeah’ is about listening to your inner voice and taking faith in the spark you uncovered deep within you.” Listen below.

Nimkish
To fully immerse in the multitudes of rising queer Indigenous star, Nimkish, is to honour the past, look ahead to the future, and bask in the resplendent present all at once. The Vancouver-based artist is fearless in her lyricism, confronting anti-Indigenous racism and colonial violence alongside other hard subjects like anxiety, grief and heartache. To the great tradition of singer-songwriters healing through their music, Nimkish brings a bright-eyed aim to flourish in all she has experienced. Nimkish’s lyrics give affirmation to past pain while living in the moment. To some it may sound like escapism, to others it may sound like moxie-driven R&B-pop pulsing through the club. What’s certain is her fortitude — she’s on a mission, combining the coolness and creativity of the TikTok generation with the lucidity and confidence of a grown woman. Nimkish’s anthemic new single, ‘YSB,’ features ASCXNSION and is about the need for healing, freedom, and to be heard. "’YSB’ is about the need for healing, freedom, and to be heard,” explains Nimkish. “Are you listening? Do you hear me? Am I screaming out into nothing? This song is about feeling like you can't get ahead, and specific issues that we as Indigenous women work through on a daily basis. Our generation has been left to deal with trauma and we are continually fighting for equity. It can feel exhausting to constantly try to be truly heard. I wanted to go deeper on this project and write about real shit. What we have created is anthemic, resilient, and confrontational, despite the vulnerability that it took to write about our lived experiences. This release is about showcasing Indigenous excellence and the need to amplify our voices. Our time is now – the future is Indigenous.” Listen below.

Tana
Tana is an artist, writer and a topliner with charge and a unique flair for lyrics and melody. Her rich and diverse views on gay culture, have strongly influenced her musical and personal journey. Tana’s music is unapologetic, revolutionary, and liberating. At heart, Tana is a true artist, and is inspired by many things around her - people, sexuality, her heritage (being half Italian and Nigerian), the city she grew up in, and the LGBT community. She places diversity at heart and aims to make music that relates to the masses, whilst pushing her creativity at all times. Her array of influences create new ideas and sounds that break traditional boundaries. Think Halsey & The Weekend. She has just released her new single ‘Bad Habits (Keep On Coming)’. Tana says of the track: “I wrote ‘Bad Habits (Keep On Coming)’ over lockdown, and it’s about wanting to grow from a toxic relationship. I found myself holding onto flaws and limitations that really effected my personal growth, and writing about it helped me recognise these issues and learn from this experience.” Listen below.
Love Crumbs
Love Crumbs is a folk-rock and Americana group based in Massachusetts. Known for blending poignant lyrics with evocative vocal storytelling, their nostalgic, timeless, heart-on-sleeve sound harkens to a bygone era. They have just released their new single ‘Ellipses’. “The track is about trying to connect with someone and not being able to despite the best of intentions,” says Mike. “It's about the things that aren't said or are left unsaid. It's about a meaningful relationship that ended kind of suddenly. The person was typing to me (as evidenced by the "...") but I never got to hear their response. Closure isn't something that someone gives us, in the end. It's something that we have to come to on our own. The sonic influences for me on this track, probably in particular the chord changes in the verses are Neil Young, the pre-chorus Tom Waits.  I wanted to stack Ali's vocals because it has an unreal sound (not occurring naturally, similar to Royals by Lorde) that can work in the right context.” Listen below.

Leah Rose
Emerging pop songwriter and producer Leah Rose has released her debut single ‘Goodnight’. The melancholic hue of ‘Goodnight’ arises from the sentimentality of a writer reflecting on a landscape they no longer exist in. The song was written and recorded in lockdown and is a prime example of how an artists’ time in isolation can result in the inevitable dissection of their past. Sonically, ‘Goodnight’ was inspired by artists such as Lorde, The Weeknd and Charli XCX. Leah Rose is a Cork-born artist who has spent the last 5 years based in Dublin. She spent much of that time honing her craft, finding inspiration in lyricists such as Alex Turner and Lana Del Rey. Strong imagery and colour play a huge role in Leah’s songwriting. Growing up with artists for parents meant that Leah was exposed to a range of visual art forms at a young age. She strives to create art not only through music but through her artwork, photography and overall visual aesthetic. “I see my songwriting style as atmospheric and somewhat abstract,” she says. “I love being able to use music as a tool to materialise the things I see in my mind. So when I write a song I try to place the listener right in the centre of my memories and daydreams”. Listen to ‘Goodnight’ below.
Leah Rose · Goodnight
Felyce
Felyce's alt-pop root influences shine through on her shuffling and atmospheric alternative Pop/R&B new single ‘Skin’. The Paris-based singer-songwriter Felyce shares the struggle she faced accepting the color of her skin while growing in France. Getting away from slow tempos, ‘Skin’ offers an energetic but still dark ambiance. Felyce wrote and performed ‘Skin’ and she worked with professional arranger Nicolas Lassus to make the song what it is now. She said in statement: "I wrote 'Skin' thinking about that beautiful story I heard once. A young black girl wondered why her skin was so dark and her mother told her the reason was because the sun loved her too much. That story really stuck with me". Born and raised in Paris, she spent most of her time between stage performances and school until high school when she put most of her focus on studying while writing her first full songs on the side. Felyce graduated from university in 2016 before starting a short career in HR but she realized that music was the only career for her and began learning production the next year while working on her debut EP Fear which dropped in 2018. She's been steadily releasing singles and crafting her sound since; embracing her formative influences, including British pop music acts like Sam Smith, Robbie Williams, Birdy, and American pop acts such as Lana Del Rey or Banks. Listen to ‘Skin’ below.
Kenzie Webley
Kenzie Webley has been writing songs since she was 13 years old but only started recording last year just before lockdown. Her new single 'Loveable' is out now to coincide with her finishing her A levels. Her debut album is almost finished and she already has the songs written for her second album! 'Loveable' tells the story of a couple arguing in public after a night out. It's from the perspective of someone who recognises their own culpability in the events. Listen below.
URARTA
URARTA’s new EP consists of four tracks centred around the issues of standing up for yourself and others, respecting the planet’s boundaries and looking out for your own. Musically, the band has its heart in punk, but simultaneously flirts with genres such as post punk, alt-rock, noise, Goth and indie. The lyrics are in English and in the dialect of Skåne –the southern part of Sweden where the band also has its geographical base. URARTA consists of Monica Richter (vocals), Ketty Hagmann (bass) and Tove Lorentz (drums). Listen to the song ‘D.I.Y’ below.

The last of the One Direction lot to release his debut album, Louis Tomlinson took his time making his first full-length.
"It's taken me the best part of four years to finish it, so naturally, you know, there's a lot of heart in it," he considers, "a lot of emotion, a lot of honesty I think. And the most important thing for me, whenever I'm writing a song, is that the lyrics are really important to me. I just want to make people feel something, and through honesty, that becomes a little bit easier, you know? So I feel like, hopefully, I've made an honest and interesting record."
A lot has happened for Louis in the past ten years. He was catapulted into stardom as part of One Direction in 2010, left that group in 2015, returned to The X Factor in 2018 as a judge, became a footballer for a bit, had a child, and sadly lost his mother in 2016 and sister Felicité in 2019. A lot of those themes make it onto 'Walls', the latter forming the lyrics for the record's lead single 'Two Of Us'.
"Honesty and vulnerability at times is relatable, and it's important sometimes talk about certain things. I'm always conscious of being as transparent as I possibly can to my fans and to any listener."
Of course, his first solo ventures, 'Just Hold On' with Steve Aoki and 'Back To You' with Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, are miles away from the music he returned with in 2019, but he maintains the change of direction was for the best. "I just don't think that those songs are true to the artist that I want to be. Although they were right to me at the time, if you put them in the middle of this album, they would definitely stand out."
Where Harry's albums channel 70s rock and artsy pop, Niall's debut had the singer/songwriter vibe a la Sheeran and Capaldi, and Liam and Zayn opted for chart-friendly R&B pop, on 'Walls', Louis goes back to his roots, doing his best to emulate the Northern indie rockers he grew up on. "I feel like a lot of influence happens subconsciously. It's what you're listening to at the time or what you've grown up with. In terms of who I look up to, Alex Turner and the way that he writes as a lyricist is incredible, especially in the early Arctic Monkeys stuff. I always talk about Amy Winehouse's level of detail, again as a lyricist, and how descriptive she was was incredible. Obviously, I'm a massive, massive Oasis fan that goes without saying."
"Coming out of One Direction, it was a bit of improvising, a bit of trial and error"
Chatting to Louis, it's easy to forget he was part of one of the biggest groups of all time, because he just comes across as a down to earth and, well, normal bloke. It's like seeing an old school friend in the pub and having a catch-up.
He's never lost his accent, and his dedication to his hometown of Doncaster is unmatched. He's returning to the Doncaster Dome on tour, was signed as a Doncaster Rovers player, and even in his early solo days, took Bebe Rexha to the Keepmoat Stadium for a video shoot.
"I always try and be as true to myself as I can. I've always been very aware of where I've come from, and very proud of where I've come from. I fuckin love Doncaster. My family still live there, I go there all't time, well, not all't time, but as much as I can. Those influences that I've grown up with were vital on my first album, they're definitely part of it's DNA.
"This was always where my heart lies. I mean, I spent most of my youth in Priory, back when it were ten quid all you could drink – which was fucking mint. That really pushed me towards big choruses and guitars, basically - you know, like a Catfish and the Bottlemen kinda record, that's the sound I really love."
Likening his experience of finding his feet after 1D's disbandment ("hiatus") to that of a brand new artist, it took Louis a while to get comfortable with the music he was making.
"A lot of developing artists when they first start their career, they spend two, three, maybe even five years in the background developing and waiting for that one moment, that one song, that one album. And I kind of had to live out that whole development period in the public eye. Naturally, after coming out of One Direction, it was a bit of improvising, a bit of trial and error and working out exactly who I should be as an artist. It took some time, I didn't want to rush it."
He did dip his toe into the songwriting waters during his time in 1D, if getting a writing credit on 37 of their songs counts as dipping a toe, but felt he needed time rediscovering himself.
"It was really important to me; it was only from the third album onwards that we really got trusted with having a real influence on the songwriting. It's something I'm really proud of, and they're definitely skills that have helped me in the solo career."
Funnily enough, One Direction's third album seemed to be the point where their music took a stadium rock-ish turn, which never really let up for the remainder of their career (see: 'Midnight Memories', 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go', 'Drag Me Down'). Maybe Louis always had those big choruses in him after all.
"I have the luxury of being a positive person"
There are plenty of references to walls and fences on (aptly titled) 'Walls', which could easily be read as feeling like he needed to break out, but he says that's not necessarily what he means.
"I normally shy away from metaphor, but it was relevant in the song definitely. I'm sure that's how some people might interpret it. But it's more about general growth in life and any problems or mistakes that you make along the way. It's more about realising that, and I'm very proud of my One Direction roots, massively."
Strangely, he says joining One Direction humbled him. As a cocky teenager, being thrust into the spotlight and feeling like a small fish in a very large, Simon Cowell-controlled pond affected the boys in different ways.
"I was a bit of a show-off, really. I came into One Direction with a bit of an ego; I did think a lot of myself, I'm not gonna lie. It was quite a sobering experience. I was a bit of a show-off when I was a kid to be fair, like I love making people laugh and all that. I wasn't very hardworking. I'd say I'm hardworking now, but I definitely wasn't when I was a young lad."
And does he feel like he's changed much since finishing with the group five years ago?
"It feels like it did in One Direction, just a diluted version really. I'm lucky I still have a certain amount of hardcore fans who follow my every move. So in terms of the difference in like privacy and stuff, that hasn't really changed too much. But, you know, it is what it is. It's what I've signed up for, apparently."
It doesn't come across like the fame gets to him, perhaps in a way it has done in the past. He seems relaxed, confident, more candid than he was on any 1D press run (e.g., he's allowed to swear now), and like genuinely, despite everything, he's in a good place.
"I have the luxury of being a positive person and seeing the glass as half full. Whenever I reflect on those times of me feeling a little bit emotional, I always do see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's just extending that idea that you know, trying to induce hope."
Louis Tomlinson's album 'Walls' is out 31st January.

A few days passed since Alex met Arabella. He somehow managed to get her to give him her phone number, but he still hasn't called her. Both Miles and Matthew were telling him continuously to at least text her. He kept on ignoring their comments, knowing that it is not the first girl that ever gave him her number, and most definitely not the last one. Still, he cannot lie about the fact that she has something that he finds alluring. Even if he makes it seem like it is nothing special, he found himself thinking about her multiple times in the last few days. He had been thinking about texting her and letting her know that he did not lose her number, but he also didn't want to seem like a complete idiot.
He was now sitting on the couch, staring at the light grey ceiling. He lighted a cigarette with the same steel lighter that he handed over to the girl that night. In his head he could see the little smile she had on her face when he stepped on to help. She was shorter than him with about fifteen centimeters, so when she tried to find his eyes, she raised her head a little. For whatever reason, Alexander found that little head movement really cute. Her black, messy hair that she tried to keep out of her sight the whole night, her small hands with slim fingers, her small nose that was right above her beautiful plump lips that had a dark red tint on them, her gestures and expressions, and of course, her sense of style made Alexander think of her a lot. It wasn't like he was falling in love because, as he always says "love is just a waste of time" and it would be unexpected for him to suddenly fall in love. He was repeating to himself that this is all going to pass and he will stop thinking about her, but then he was trying to find the perfect way to start a conversation. Matthew and Miles were both telling him to let her know who he is first, or even a simple greeting like "Hello!" or something, but it was not satisfying enough for him. Everything about her was delightful.
Her personality also seemed really interesting. She did not look like the ordinary type. Oppositely, she was exactly what the others weren't. And not only did she dress not caring about the latest trends, but she also was not behaving like the other girls that were surrounding Alex. There was something about her that made his eyes sparkle. "Snap out of it, Alex," he told himself, getting up from his seat. He pressed the cigarette on the bottom of the glass ashtray, then ran his hands through his hair, letting out one big sight. He decided it's best for him to take a shower to cool down a bit. He let the cold water run down his warm skin, giving him goosebumps. He always liked the feeling of cold things touching his skin. It felt refreshing, made him feel good.
He got out of the shower pretty fast. He threw on some clothes to spend the rest of the day in and headed back to the dark couch placed in the middle of his living room. He moved into this apartment almost seven years ago when he was still college. It was the last gift he received from his parents before they disappeared without any warning or explanation. He thought that they maybe got sick of him so they got him an apartment, paid for his college, and vanished as if nothing happened. He did not even need them to pay for his tuition cause he was already working at that time and he was earning enough money to pay for himself. He tried to come in contact with them, but he could not find them anymore. Alex then accepted what was happening to him, thinking that maybe that was how his life was supposed to go.
He sat down, looking at the black screen that was placed on the table in front of him. He could see his own reflection in it. He saw his messy wet hair that he then tried to fix a little. It was something he was always taking care of. His looks were important for him, especially his hair. His eyes then found their way over to the phone that sat next to him. Should he call her? Should he text her? He grabbed his phone and did what he thought was best for him to do.
_______
It was finally her day off work. She didn't have anything planned so she just went grocery shopping because, since she was working almost every day, she did not have time to buy anything. She was always eating at work so when she was coming home she was not really thinking about food. When she finally arrived home, she unlocked the door and walked in, almost out of breath. She had three big bags full of everything she needed. And the weather was not helping either. It was extremely hot outside, it felt like she was living in the middle of the desert. Not so long after her breathing was back to normal, she started unpacking everything carefully. She placed everything where it was supposed to go, leaving one bottle on the counter. The brunette quickly grabbed a towel from her room and went straight to the bathroom, letting the water run and gather in her bathtub. When she thought it was enough, she threw all her clothes away and jumped into the water, feeling much better. She felt the warmth leaving her body as if she was immersed in the water. Not only did she cool down her body, but also her mind. She left thinking that she might not find what she had to grab but came home thinking she bought too many things. All those thoughts left her head when another one popped up. Didn't she give her number to the guy she met at the bar a few days ago? Alexander Turner. If she did so, why didn't he call, or at least text? "What an idiot" she broke the silence, talking for herself. She came to think that he was really an interesting character. He was the type of guy to hit on girls at parties just to get them to shag, but he would not hit on everyone. But she questioned herself: "why did he hit o me, but did not make it look like he just wants to shag?". Which was true. Because he did not even try to kiss her, not even once. He was acting like a gentleman around her, but he clearly was not the one to pick up girls like this. Maybe she wasn't attractive enough, she thought. Or maybe he just wanted to befriend her and everything else was just in her head. But then, why did he offered to buy her a drink and never let her go out for a smoke alone? Was he just trying to be friendly? But if it was this way, he wouldn't ignore the other girls that were trying to get his attention. Also, he looked at her differently than he looked at anyone else.
"It is all in my head." She reasoned, getting out of the bathtub, putting on her white bathrobe. In about ten minutes, she got dressed and tried to get rid of the excess of water that she had in her hair by rubbing it with a towel. To try and forget about what she was thinking earlier, she played her favorite music and started cooking something. It has been some time since she actually cooked a full meal. She liked cooking. When she was little, she learned a lot from her grandmother. She and her sister would spend a lot of time over at their grandmother's house since their mom was busy selling illegal stuff for odd men. She decided to cook something easy and fast though because she was really getting hungry and did not have the patience to wait for things to be ready in more than one hour. While her food was cooking, she couldn't help but move her body on the beat of the music. She also started humming the lyrics of the songs she adored. The sun was setting and the last rays of sun were embracing her moving body.
The music kept on lifting up Arabella's mood until her food was finally ready and she put it on a plate in a fancy way so she doesn't feel bad for staying inside when she could be somewhere with Bree. She took the plate and placed it on the table standing in front of her sofa, then she grabbed a glass and poured herself a good amount of her favorite whiskey. Maybe drinking it by herself was not a good idea after all, but she didn't really care. She last drank whiskey a few days ago at that bar, with Alexander. While he was looking like a character from an angsty romance book she read in high school. With his slicked-back hair and his brown sharp eyes that were starring into the soul, every girl from that bar would want him. Yet he ignored them. The very first moment she saw him was stuck in her head for whatever reason. She couldn't lie to herself, the man was attractive. He was tall, with dark hair and also dark eyes, skinny but still muscular. His lips were thin but defined. Big hands and arms. The way he helped her light her cigarette was a really pleasant memory. Not to mention the way he was dancing around her, softly touching her moving body.
She didn't even realize she was done eating. She giggled at the idea that she didn't even realize how much time passed by her while she was thinking about some men she met days ago in a completely random moment. She didn't even take a sip from her drink. She stoops up to put her place in the sink and o her way back she brought her pack and lighter, grabbed her glass and phone, and went on the balcony to smoke while feeling the summer breeze through her hair. It was not healthy since her hair was still wet, but she took the risk anyway. She sat down on one of the chairs that she had there and covered her naked legs with a blanket she was keeping in there just in case she was feeling cold. She lighted her cigarette and then took a sip from her drink, which she was very pleased with.
The city was as busy as usual. Lights everywhere, people going back from home, teenagers walking around in groups laughing, cars going in both directions, dogs barking, everything was going per usual. She laughed a little, for no reason, she just felt like it. Then, her eyes moved over to her phone that sat right next to her leg. She noticed something: she had a notification. She was wondering who was it from since Bree was on her "date" or whatever she was doing with a guy she met. With a bit of curiosity, she picked it up and a number popped up with a small message right underneath it.
"Hi, Arabella! It's Alex. Just wanted to let you know that I did not, in fact, lose your number as you said I would, silly. What do you think about going for a drive someday?"
