Leo looked at his phone for a good second and then left it on his bed, unattended. he ran to your residence hall— it didn’t matter to him that it was quite literally on the other side of campus. he needed to hear you say the words he had been waiting to hear since he was fifteen. he’d always had a slight crush on you, mostly off and on.

But during the summer, he had fallen for you even harder than he thought he could. he never thought that he could love someone as much as he loved you. anyway, he was practically dying as he ran to your dorm! his hair was disheveled, and he was panting a bit. he wasn’t sure if he was sweaty because he was nervous, or because he had just ran to get to your dorm.

He knocked on your door three times.

You jumped out of your bed. you felt like throwing up from how nervous you were. you quickly slid on your slippers, and looked in the mirror before you opened the door for him. (making the poor boy wait). you adjusted your hair, making sure it sat right.

You took a deep breath before opening the door. you almost didn’t, but a voice in your head was telling you that you’d be an idiot if you didn’t open the door. your hands gripped the doorknob, and then unlocked it. leo was practically dying because you were taking years to open the stupid door. you finally opened it, getting met by a disheveled-sweaty-flushed leo valdez.

“Hi.” he croaked out, his voice cracking slightly. he felt like he was on fire, literally. he wanted this to be over with! well, no, that’s a lie. he just wanted to be your boyfriend already.

“…Hi.” you answered, your voice was quiet. you had an awkward smile on your face. you were praying that you would just drown at this moment. you’d much rather enjoy that than this.

He cleared his throat, and finally spoke after a long minute of awkward silence. The two looked at each other “I really… really like you. I.. Uh.. You obviously know that already, but I wanna tell you in person?” he said, nodding along with his own words. his hands went to fumble with the hem of his shirt, anxiously waiting for your response.

“I really like you, too.” You replied. you didn’t feel as nervous as anymore when he started to talk. you felt your face getting hotter, and your smile getting bigger. he grinned at you like an idiot.

He thought that he was dreaming when you said you liked him. The start of something. “Really?” He asked, just wanting to hear you say it again. He couldn’t help but grin like an idiot. He thought never in a million years that you’d ever like him! You were totally out of his league. you were so awesome, so pretty, and so sweet.

You nodded again, rolling your eyes. “Yes, really.”

I do see Everett being the one everyone goes to because he just silently listens and nods along uninterrupted, he also loves listening, so Soap info dumping is probably his favorite.

Price bitching about some random soldier on base being an idiot for some odd reason or about a higher up and all of a sudden they've got this quiet little weird freak giving them the stink eye all the time

Definitely doesn't talk about the 141 during his little meets with Ghost and Roach, they're his besties and because he was actually entrusted with this info. The other people shouldn't have been talking to loud near him ✋😤

He has a few different masks he rotates through. A white balaclava with rabbit ears for on base (the boys definitely fidget with them all the time) and then a plain black one for missions, and then just a black medical one for when he's on leave. For colder missions, he has masks lined with rabbits fur to keep warm. He's got a buzz cut and gets a lil chilly

The rabbits feet are SUPER personalized depending on the person. The metal type, the designs in the metal, the type of rabbit itself. Everett spends a lot of time on them and wants them to have a lot of meaning

I joked with my bf about giving him an eye patch and him (play)fighting with Soap because of the constant pirate jokes, he probably does get a really cool prosthetic and a normal looking eye one for when he visits his family

I looked up quite a bit of stuff of disabilities a lot of veterans suffer with and wanted them to be well represented. Wanted the boys to be as accurate as possible.

Also Price snoring 😭 Soap is the only one who can share a bed with that man because he can't fucking hear nothing

(this isn't technically canon to the timeline with my oc in it but a fun thought I had when developing the story, the actual retirement story is way angstier) For polycule 141 retirement, I joked about them having a super big bed to bit like 6 ish people, but landed on them buying like an old school together (this is personal, I think it'd be so fun to live in an old school 😞) and fixing it up together.

They all get their own spaces, no fighting for the bathroom, more than enough space to cook and to have huge family dinners (holidays with family are spent here, AleRudy and FarahAlex are invited obviously, parking is never an issue, but the polycule do have assigned spots) I also think movie nights are fun because of school theaters. They do infact use the intercom system to talk to each other

At the high school I went to, there was like two massive fields, a track area, and tennis courts. So that + the weight rooms and gym, they have plenty of freedom and choice for exercise. And Everett has a dog (Soap's biggest opp)((and two cats)) so there's so much space for him

Security on this bitch goes crazzyyy. Ghost and Price are taking NO chances with their boys. (Especially Ghost because he is not losing another family) bitch is like fort knox, no one is touching these guys

Infection: Scifi short

               Kevin and Thomas decided to go camping one warm summer evening. The two overworked men were good friends, and they decided that a few nights away from work and reality would do them some good. They drove Kevin’s car out to the forest not too far from town after work, and began to set up camp. Kevin began to set up his tent, kneeling on the loose substrate covered in dead leaves and debris. Thomas, on the other hand, felt like roughing it in a sleeping bag would be a much better idea, so he didn’t bring a tent with him. The two men laughed and joked as they readied their campsite.

               “This’ll be great.” Kevin said, “A few days away from the city is just what we need.”

               “Oh, you said it, brother.” Thomas replied. Thomas was a thin, tall man. He stood over six feet, and wore his staple red and black plaid shirt. His pants and shoes were covered in dirt by now, but that was the least of his worries. What he was more worried about was that they were going to have for dinner that night. Thomas loved to eat, despite his scrawny stature. Kevin knew this, so he made sure to bring protein-filled meals and snacks to hold his childhood friend over.

               “Let’s start the fire.” Kevin suggested, grabbing some firewood near their site. Throwing the twigs and kindling into their homemade fire pit, Kevin readied a lighter. Brilliant flame began to consume the twigs, engulfing them in an iridescent orange. Thomas joined Kevin by the fire, warming his hands. Kevin finished setting up the fire by placing a small metal grate over the flames to cool food on.

               “The sun sure is dropping quick this time of year.” He said, looking over his shoulder nervously.

               “Don’t worry about that.” Kevin said, “We’ll be fine. If you had a tent, you wouldn’t be so nervous.” Kevin smirked an evil grin, then slapped Thomas’ knee.

               “Nervous?” Thomas replied, chortling momentarily, “I’m not nervous.”

               “Alright, tough guy.” Kevin said through a chuckle, “Here.” Kevin gave Thomas a can of refried beans. Thomas opened it with his knife and placed the can on the grate. He watched the fire dance and crackle as the sun began to vanish. Kevin opened a bag of pre-cooked meat, and handed Thomas a paper plate.

               “Hungry?”

               “Oh, yeah.” Thomas said through anxiety, “I’m hungry.”

               “You better eat, then. It gets pretty cold here at night. You’ll need the fuel.”

               “Right.” Thomas replied, scooping some refried beans out of the large can. He plopped the thick bean paste onto his plate, then handed Kevin the metal spoon. With a grunt, Kevin stood up and got his helping of beans.

               “I’ve never camped here before.” Thomas said, as if the words were forced from his mouth.

               “I can tell.” Kevin laughed as he dropped some meat on his plate. He gave the bag of meat to Thomas, who served himself.

               The two men ate their food, watching the fire crackle as they spooned beans and meat into their mouths. There was no light whatsoever, now, save for the fire. It gave them both a creepy feeling.

               “Creepy.” Kevin said, sniffling after popping the last bit of food into his mouth. He wiped his hand on his jeans and mended the fire with a stick. Thomas knew that Kevin was a brave guy, but he figured he would try to scare him tonight. He already poked fun at Thomas, so at least they’d be even. After finishing his plate, Thomas sat up straight and crossed his arms. He mustered the courage to be as calm as possible and inhaled slowly.

               “Did I ever tell you about my grandma?” Thomas asked, never taking his eyes off the fire.

               “You mean that sweet old woman who used to bake us cookies when we were young?” Kevin replied.

               “No, not my maternal grandma,” Thomas said, waving his hand down, “My paternal grandma.”

               “I don’t think so, then.” Kevin said, chewing the last bit of meat between his front teeth.

               “Good.” Thomas said, “We don’t talk about her, either. Well, we haven’t for quite some time. She was a strange lady. Real strange. Always talking about ‘ghosts in her attic’ or the ‘shadow man in the basement’. Hell, she even went so far as to say that she would see a man walking in her halls at night.”

               “Did she have a mental issue?” Kevin asked thoughtfully. Thomas’ eyes slid towards Kevin.

               “No.” He replied coldly, “Doctors checked her out. All was good. Short of some physical trauma, she was fine.”

               “Superstitious?” Kevin asked.

               “No, not that I can recall.” Thomas replied, shaking his head slowly.

               “She always locked her bedroom door at night after the doctors came. She would make sure the deadbolt was in the door, she would prop chairs against windows and doors… she was paranoid.”

               “And?” Kevin said, growing impatient with Thomas’ meticulous attention to details.

               “Well,” Thomas said, “when she passed, BioLabs forces—the MPs—found that there was a guy living in her house. He had been living there for some time. He would eat her food, move from room to room, and even watch her sleep. A real nut cake.”

               “What about him?” Kevin asked, resting his chin in his hand.

               “He broke out. They could never find him. We don’t know if he was caught again or if he is still roaming around, living in other people’s houses.”

               “That’s some messed up shit.” Kevin said, shaking his head. Thomas nodded, seeing that Kevin was on edge now. As the fire dimmed, Kevin unzipped his tent and climbed inside.

               “It’s getting late.” Kevin said, “Let’s turn in. At least, I’m going to bed.

               “I’ll be right there.” Thomas said, “I’ve gotta take a leak.”

               “TMI, man.” Kevin laughed, zipping up his tent. He turned on his flashlight, illuminating his small tent.

                 Thomas stood behind a tree, unbuckling his belt. As he was about to unbutton his pants, he heard a twig snap behind him. He flipped around, his belt still hanging out. His eyes scanned the darkness, seeing nothing.

               “Very funny, Kev.” Thomas said, shaking his head as he turned around to use the bathroom. Looking down, Thomas heard the noise again. This time, it was followed by slow, uneven footsteps.

               “Kevin, it’s not fun—” Thomas was grabbed by some decrepit being. It had shrunken eyes deep within its sockets. What seemed to be rotting flesh hung from its face. There seemed to be no muscle on this being, only yellowed flesh and bone. Remnants of hair clung to the shrunken head. The thing’s emaciated torso revealed ribs and festering wounds. Its long nails scratched Thomas. He tried to tear away from this creature’s incredibly strong grip, but whatever this thing was had too much leverage already. Thomas sunk to the ground, and the decrepit creature sunk its teeth into his shoulder. Thomas screamed silently, trying to force air out of his throat, but it was no use.

                 “Thomas?” Kevin said, unzipping his tent and poking his head out, “Did you fall in or what?” There was no answer. Kevin frowned and stepped out of his tent, listening to the forest sounds.

               “Thomas!” Kevin shouted, “C’mon man.” After a few moments of silence, Kevin heard slow footsteps. Emerging from the forest was Thomas.

               “There you are.” Kevin said angrily, “What took you so long?”

               “I… had to use the bathroom…” Thomas replied, almost as if he never spoke English before. His voice was lower; more distorted. Blood trickled from his forehead. His plaid shirt seemed to cling to his shoulder.

               “Are you ok?” Kevin asked, reluctantly stepping forward to his friend.

               “I’m fine. Fine. Fine. I’m fine.” Thomas replied, his neck twitching and straining with every word. Kevin was about to take a step closer when Thomas interjected,

               “Come here. I need to show you something. I…I need you to see this… I need…you to show me…that I’m not crazzyyy.” Kevin slowly took a step back.

               “You’re real funny.” Kevin said, “Trying to scare me after that whole bit about your grandma.”

               “Please.” Thomas replied, his voice chilling, “Please. Just come here! I need to show this. It’s right…here…”

               “Just tell me. Kevin said, “I’m not going that deep into the forest this late.”

               “Why do you sleep?” Thomas asked, his neck straining and his hands twitching.

               “You’re freaking me out, man. Cut the act.”

               “We met twenty years ago.” Thomas stated as if reciting it.

               “Thomas?” Kevin asked, concerned about his friend, “I’m going to call a doctor. Let’s head back to town and get you to an ambulance.

               “I insist that you come see what I have to SHOW YOU.” Thomas lunged at Kevin, gripping him with super human strength. Kevin screamed at the top of his lungs as Thomas ripped and tore at his neck and chest with only his hands. Thomas’s flesh on his hands ripped with the force, and Kevin’s blood spewed from his chest. Thomas bit into Kevin’s neck and limped away into the woods again.
