PIECE OF LOVE! — till ivan | alien stage.
till said he liked you, but he always looked at mizi whenever she walks past. maybe if he looked back, he would notice you. waiting, staring, wanting it to be your turn before you finally looked the other way.
content warning | character deaths, swearing, unrequited love, brief cannibalistic metaphors, love triangles, male reader but not mentioned (they/them prns).
Tumblr media
till never looked at you, if he did (which is rare), it would be because of you talking to him just to get his attention. despite him saying he liked you when you both were young, he never gave you anymore attention once mizi arrived. till never talked to her, always expecting her to look back at him without asking her for it.
maybe that’s what you felt when someone you love is looking everywhere but you. you were always there for him, he knew too, always comforting him in his darkest times, praising him when he did a good job at his practice, making him gifts so he can be happy, but not once did he return it.
does he appreciate it? yes. returns your love? no.
till doesn’t know it but maybe if he looked back, he would see who was waiting for him all this time. it was only a matter of time before they turned away from him too when he finally looks back, and you were just waiting for you to eventually give up on him.
praying, wanting, needing for it to happen. if only things could be that easy, you would’ve been a lot more free. instead, you’re bounded to be hopeless forever, no matter how many times your alien owners tried to cheer you up. gifts, clothes, toys, stuff you needed to live until this day, it would never work.
it was until recently, at the rip age of 17, that you finally grew up and matured. turning around and living the life of a young star, your owners busting their asses for you to live a life of a celebrity. it felt good to finally be free, maybe you missed being chained down to till, after all, you still cared for him.
you wanted him to be apart of you, you still wanted him carnally, sinking your teeth into him, almost like you could smell his flesh from miles away. all that you concluded that you wanted to let go so bad, was that you still loved him.
till never looked at you.
“ [name]? “
ivan’s touch on your cheek woke you up, realizing you slept on a couch, uncomfortably so from the neck in your pain when you sat up. his black pupils that had a hint of red stared right back into yours as he kneeled infront of you while cradling your hands.
“ivan..?” you trailed off before realizing he won his match, making you softly smile, “congratulations.” ivan nodded back in acknowledgment before he stood up, pulling you up with him to bring you into a hug, putting your arms around him as you buried yourself in his neck. you were lucky ivan was here with you, loving you like till could never bring up the courage to do.
now, as you raise up your platform, dressed in white with the boy you once called yours beside you, a look of concern glistening in his eyes, wondering why you weren’t looking at him like you used too. all you were doing is staring at the ground, like you lost the will to win.
till never looked at you.
watching ivan die, just to save till with no regrets while giving him a goodbye kiss as he fell to ground made you realize something, ivan looked at both till and you, just to die for both of you. when he died, you died alongside him, now till has to go up against you.
till watched you walk up the stage, wanting to get this round over and down before he followed you like a lost dog. he never heard you sing before, he never listened to your rounds or music, he was too busy with his but once he heard you live, you sounded ethereal, pulling him into your downfall.
he didn’t notice that he was being your back up vocals before you grabbed his hand, mic just inches away from your lips, did he start his singing part. till noticed how dead your eyes looked, how cold your skin felt, and how you harshly let his hand drop yours grasp.
his eyes kept following your figure, noticing how smooth and soft your movements were, aswell as how soft your voice was being when you looked at him whenever he looked away from you. despite everything, you could never hate him.
you, who didn’t wish him harm.
you, who wished he looked back at you.
and you, who didn’t want to win.
because of that, you grabbed his wrist to pull him into a short kiss, pulling away until he pulled you back in, shocking you more than anything. a part of you wanted you to believe that he was only doing it because he missed mizi, that you were just filling in the role of her until he pulled away.
a sad smile on his face as his lips moved, saying words that you weren’t able to hear, there was a ringing in your ears, the scoreboard showing that you won. till managed to catch the look of disbelief when your eyes went back to him, he was glad that the glint in your eyes were back, just not the way he didn’t want it to come back.
the tight feeling on his neck disappeared, reaching up to grasp at it did he realize you placed it on yours. no, no! he’s already lost mizi, ivan, and now, you? it’s like the world didn’t want him to be happy with the amount of blood splattered on his hands.
your smile, and ivan’s smile will now haunt his dreams, watching your body collapse onto the ground next to him with your blood on his cheeks did he yell out of despair, cradling your body close to him as the crowd watched in disbelief.
till never looked at you.
he always did, whenever you weren’t looking in that case.
“i’m sorry for not loving you enough.”

Genre: smut, fluff, San is performing, the both of you are wet, sexual tension (kinda!), reader is playful

Word count: 3.7K
A/n: no one drives me as insane as Choi san… my brain has rotted even more ever since waterbomb and I can’t stop fucking thinking about him
Tumblr media
You navigate against the crowd, your hand linking with your friend’s, who is babbling about being excited that they could finally attend face-to-face events after a long while. You smile as you continue threading the crowd, a strange glimmer of excitement and anxiety flicking in you because you knew he would be there.
Water festivals are fun in their own way, once you let yourself get drenched and just enjoyed the music beating in your ears. You weren’t letting San dominate you of course. You had your own white shirt on with a bikini top and sweat shorts for easier manoeuvring, especially through the thick crowd. Whether or not you’ll get sprayed—is another matter entirely, and whether that will capture San’s attention as well. But the main point was, you weren’t gonna let San get a rouse out of you.
Bubble Pop blasts on the speakers and you silently cheer in delight at such a fun song. Definitely a summer classic. The water guns continuously drenches the crowd, including you but all you care about was feeling Hyuna’s music from head to toe. You didn’t know where San and his buddies were but not that it should matter—nothing was going on between you and the idol anyway. You comb your wet hair back, shaking it to let the excess water out. You are wet, but not drenched, yet. The fun was just getting started. Your friend whispers something in your ear—something about getting drinks for you. You smile at her and gently take the drink she offers you—a non-alcoholic one. It’s too early to get wasted. After having more talks and giggling with your friend, she suddenly squeals and you whip your head to the stage. Ah, another band is performing on stage. And it’s exactly who you think it is.
Choi San’s shirt clings onto his skin, pulling taut against chest, his nipples just peaking beneath the sheer fabric, teasing your eyes. You glance up and down at him, swallowing every single part of San with your eyes like a full course meal, forcing yourself to show as minimal reaction as possible. Seonghwa told you that San’s outfit was safe but dangerous—whatever the fuck that even meant. Dangerous is an understatement—San looks deadly. He had removed his hat and hung it on his ripped, baggy jeans, sweat and water just trickling down his temple to his jaw, down his throat, and sinking into the sheer ass fabric clinging onto dear life on his skin. Before you realise it, San catches your eye, and his lips curl into a smirk as he continues to pour and drench himself with another bottle of water. You swore to yourself that you’d never let him have the satisfaction that San just crawled into the crevices of your mind like a parasite. Fuck. Your eye contact meets his, determined not to lose this round. This only seems to rile him up a little more and he cuts the eye contact shortly after, going off to the other side of the stage. You exhale, combing your wet hair back again, feeling like you went through the most intense battle for some reason.
Just then Seonghwa walks over and meets your eyes, flashing a small smile. He, too, looks absolutely delectable—his white turtleneck drenched, pressing against his skin and a whole line of zipper just censoring his nipples at the perfect spot. What a fucking tease. He glances at San who catches his gaze before turning back to you, his hand on the water cannon. Before you know it, it sprays and absolutely drenches you. Your friend squeals and has her arm up with her drink in surprise. The white tank presses onto your skin and while you were wearing a bikini top, it somehow looked even sinful since now your chest was becoming more visible. You push your completely drenched hair back and your eyes search for Seonghwa on the stage. He’s obviously left the scene of the crime, whispering to San about something as San passes him. San’s gaze turns to you, and his expression unreadable as he lingers on you. You stare back and smile innocently. This felt bad for some reason, and you weren’t even the one who insinuated it.
The band finishes their set and you excuse yourself, threading yourself back out of the crowd. Your friend follows you out for a quick breather as well. “Toilet” she says. “I’ll call you when I’m done.”
You nod as you watch her disappear into the distance. You walk the opposite direction, pulling out your phone from your mini shoulder bag. You reach to a more isolated area in the festival. The music was still beating pretty loudly in your ears and you comb your hair back again, getting the wet strands from your face to check your phone. A presence appears in front of you and you look up. San is staring down at you. Up close, he looks even more heavenly, his expression still unreadable.
He breaks into a small smile. “Damn. Seonghwa really got you huh.”
“What brings you here, San?” You ask, locking your phone and crossing your arms. You’re not sure if your heartbeat is accelerating from the music or because San is standing before you.
“Saw you in the crowd. Didn’t expect you to be here”, San says as he leans towards you.
“Of course. Came here to see Hwa”, you mention, pressing your bottom lip with your left index finger, tilting your head a little, your eyes feign playing dumb as your gaze flicker from San’s to somewhere else. You hear San take a breath, sounding irritated. You peek at your peripheral vision and oh boy, you definitely pushed a button or two in San. Such a gullible man.
“Right, that totally seems like that case.” You both know that’s a lie. The both of you were like playing some kind of cat and mouse game ever since the accident of when you ended up making out with San at a pub in your drunken stupor as a dare from one your friends. What you didn’t realise was that he was from a rising boy band at the time and you ended up befriending the four out of eight boys who were at the scene—including Seonghwa. But you were obviously attracted to San. Obviously. And you would never let him know. The only problem was that the kiss had you hooked. He was way too good at it. The way he pushed himself to you as your lips locked. The way he had combed your hair back during the kiss. The way he had you cornered.
Just like right now.
“Do you want to go find him?” San asks after a moment of silence. You can’t identify if he was being sarcastic or genuine but you decide to play along. “Why not? I’m giving him a piece of my mind for drenching me like this”, you reply, tugging the collar of the tank top, and San’s eyes fall right onto your chest. Oh dear. You forgot about that.
San smiles and puts his hand out for you to take, and you do. “Won’t you get swarmed by fans walking out in the open like this?” He shakes his head. “We got a staff shortcut.”
His grip was firm yet gentle, as if he didn’t want to let you go, not yet. Your heart continuously beats, and you worry that San could hear it at any point of time now.
The both of you reach a more quiet and isolated space at the festival, in front of a trailer. It probably is the band’s trailer. San unlocks the door and invites you in.
Of course, Seonghwa wasn’t there. You already knew. He obviously was not going to let you meet Seonghwa. You hear the sound of the door being closed and locked. Instead of panicking, you turn to the couch and sit, making yourself comfortable. “Where’s Hwa?” You provoke. San only inches closer. There’s a glint of guilt that flashes in his eyes for a moment.
“I lied. I’m sorry” He admits, as he brushes his hair back. “Do you really like him that much?” Fuck, he’s so cute when he’s soft like that.
“What if I say I do?”
An expression of hurt flashes across his face for a moment. Or was it jealousy?
He pouts, and it sends your heart into a spiral. Was he the same dude drenched and smirking on stage like 15 minutes ago?
“Really?” He confirms, stepping closer. You feel your breath hitch.
“No”, you plaster a smile, “I lied too”
This automatically puts a smile on San’s face. His hair was partially dried, so was his tank. It was still damp and the fabric still clings onto his chest. You swallow. Not to mention up close and personal.
“Hey y/n, I couldn’t stop thinking about you ever since the pub” and that leaves your face flushing. The only thing that flashes through your mind was how fucking good he feels in your mouth. “You tasted so unforgettable.”
“Can we go further than that?” He pursues, this time right in front of you. He tilts in, trying to close the distance between the both of you. But at that moment, the couch suddenly vibrates. The both of you jump at the sensation. You crawl to the position of where you phone (which was in your bag) was lying, and San stays put at where he’s at, his gaze following your movements.
You pull out your phone from your bag, and the phone lights up with your friend’s caller ID. You look up at San. “Excuse me for a moment”, you say and put the phone up to your ear as you slide to answer. Your friend asks you where are you, and that she’s out of the toilet.
“I’m…in the middle of something”, you reply, your eyes darting to San, who’s staring at you intently. “I’ll call you when I’m done. Enjoy the rest of the festival!” Your friend laughs and replies with an “okay!” before hanging up. You lower your phone from your ear and stuff it back into your bag. The moment you turn your head, San closes the distance between the both of you, hungry and needy. His lips pressing yours, gently pushing his tongue in to part your lips.
There it is—this feeling of fireworks just going off in your head when he kisses you like that. You almost go giddy as you feel your lower abdomen flutter in pleasure. Fuck this feels so good. You intertwine your fingers against his bright red locks of hair and tug a little in case you fall somewhere. This only elicits a soft moan out of San, and pulls back for a moment, his lips now red and swollen from kissing you hard. His eyes look slightly glazed and you can’t imagine how you are looking—you just know you want him to start fucking you right about now. He leans his head towards your neck and starts peppering your neck with kisses, sending jolts down your spine, and your pussy. Goosebumps scatter throughout your skin as you felt something loosen—your bikini top. The clothing piece falls limply as the knot gets undone by San, and with a swift motion, he tugs the bikini top by the string and down it goes, removed from beneath your shirt. You feel the tank top fabric stick to your nipples and the sensation makes you gasp a little. San only continues to trail his kisses down to your tits and when he gets there, he lifts the hem of your top up, letting it cling to the skin above your tits, and then sucks delicately on your right nipple. This only pools the area between your legs.
“Fuck.. San..” you barely manage out. San brings up his other hand and pinches your left nipple. Your hand goes to his hair and you tug again—this time from the pleasure jolting right between your legs. San moans again. He removes his lips and switches over to the left nipple. This pushes out a moan on your end. Oh my god, his tongue feels so good.
You continue to brush his hair back in pleasure as he licks and sucks in your nipple like some kind of candy. Suddenly he removes his hands and lips entirely, leaving you gasping at the lack of touch.
“Remove your sandals” San instructs, and you kick them off easily. He shifts his position so that you’re seated on his lap, straddling him, and that’s when you realise his hard on just pressing against your pussy. That just excites you even more.
San smoothes his palms up and down you—from your chest—not forgetting to play with your nipples—all the way to your thighs—dangerously close to your cunt. “So what do you want me to do, y/n?”, he asks, almost in a whisper, since his face is so close to yours.
Your eyes gaze to his damp shirt and you brush your hands against his nipples. San whimpers in surprise, and you feel his cock harden even more beneath you. His eyes open slightly as his head tilts back a little. “Do you like teasing me that much?”
You smile in reply. “I can’t help it if every part of you is fuckable.” And that kind of snaps something in San. He goes in for another needy kiss and this time your tits rub against his chest through the thin and wet fabric, causing you to moan in between kisses. You also start to grind your hips against his, desperate for some skin.
San pauses the make out session, leaving you half lidded and breathing heavily. It was starting to be difficult to cling onto any sense of sanity left. You feel him reaching for his pants and unbuckling, he’s acting like he’s doing it steadily but it’s evident that he’s rushing to let his cock spring out. Another hand slides to your pussy, and he pushes the sweat shorts aside, along with your panties—right to your clit.
“Fuck, you’re so wet already y/n” he breathes out. “I can’t wait to fuck you”. He bites his lip as he rubs your clit. His other hand grabs yours and has you rub him off—his cock at a significant length, but more on the girthy side. How the hell is that gonna fit in you.
He continues to rub your clit in slow, circular motions and you could barely focus on pumping San out. Each flick felt like a tickle that only thinned your sanity even more, the jolts of pleasure coming in non-stop. “…so good” you barely manage out. “Keep doing that San”.
The knot in your stomach tugs from the pleasure and you feel it building rapidly. You are definitely not going to survive this. It feels like fucking heaven. San continues to kiss your neck and suck on your skin, littering your shoulders with faint, red marks, adding into the pleasure even more. He continues to encourage you to keep up moaning, because it’s making him feel amazing too and whatever else. You were feeling too good to process his sweet nothings.
That was when you feel your climax reaching. Your legs trembling slightly as San’s fingers brushed against your nub once more, the feeling growing more intense by the second.
“Ah fuck-“you cry out. “S-san-“ All he does is continue to flick your clit. By now you let go of his cock because your focus was out of the window, only staring right into San’s gorgeous eyes, half lidded as he wraps his fingers around your neck. Oh fuck. You feel it building.
“San, I’m coming-“you whine, over and over as your body shakes in pleasure, your eyes rolling back as San now presses against your clit, sending even more shockwaves through your system. He lets your ride out your orgasm.
“You look so pretty when you come”, San whispers as he removes his hand from your name and combs back your hair. “We’re not done yet though.” Before you could reply, he pushes the fabric of your pants and panties further to the side, taking your hand and having you hold the pants to the side, your pussy exposed even more. It doesn’t take you long to realise what he’s trying to do and you start taking action. Lifting your hips up, your free hand holds San’s cock as you line up to your entrance, and then you push down, taking him in instantly.
FUCK. The pleasure jolts in you so much and you wonder if you can keep your eyes open as he fucks you. The overstimulation felt so amazing. His cock is buried deep inside you and it feels so fucking full. San gasps as well, his eyes squeezed shut. “Fuck, y/n, you feel so good, squeezing me out like this”, he whimpers. You crash your lips into his, and he hungrily devours you. His moans mixed with yours as you start moving slowly, starting at a slow pace.
Moans start to fill the trailer, so do the sounds of wet skin slapping. Every time you ride and lift your pussy off his cock, you cry out in pleasure, only for San to slam you down, balls deep in you again. You lean in to his shoulder and kiss his neck in an effort to hold back your moans. His hands reach for your ass and he slaps it, the sound bouncing off the walls, and you jumping before sinking right back into his dick.
“You take me so well”, he whispers in your ear. “I can’t wait to start fucking you everywhere. Then you’ll be only thinking of me”. His possessiveness only turning you on a little more.
Just then, the door suddenly knocks. The both of you freeze for a moment. The tapping continues. “San, are you there? Manager needs us in fifteen.”
It was Seonghwa. San suddenly lifts you off his lap and cock before turning you over to face the door. Your heartbeat quickens. What the hell is he trying to do? Before you could protest, he slips his cock right back into you, and you go limp, falling back to his chest and head supported by his shoulders. He fucks you with your legs open like that. “There he is, your little crush. If he has the key and unlocks the door, he’s gonna see you like this. What would Hwa think?” San presses. He’d think you were a whore, being fucked out, balls deep by Choi San.
“He’s not my crush. You are. I love how fuck me like this”, you cry out softly, still bouncing off his cock. You don’t know what washed over you to confess that but it already slipped out. San pauses for a second, and you feel him smile, you also feel his cock grow in your pussy. “Yeah sure! I’ll be there!” San strains. The footsteps shuffle away, and your heartbeat starts to slow down.
“Really?” San asks, both of his hands flicking your nipples. Fuck, you can’t answer, not like this. “Yes. San, please, don’t stop” you confirm. San bites your ear gently as he pounds into you. God, your face must be looking so fucked and glazed over.
You feel his movements getting erratic and sloppier. “I’m close”, he exhales. His hands travel down to your thighs as he strokes them gently.
“Please”, you whine. “You can release in me”. And that snaps whatever sanity San had left as he fucks right into you and paints your insides with his cum. He keeps moaning in your ears about how good your pussy feels, how he’s going insane. He slowly pulls out and shudders at the overstimulation from emptying out in you. Cum trickles down your pussy and that sight almost made him hard again. Almost.
San puts you aside as he reaches out for a box of tissues to clean yourself up with. He also reaches out to clean your pussy up when he’s done wiping down his dick.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt?” San asks, stroking your head. You shake your head as you hand him the used tissues. He lifts up your shirt, which makes you squeal in surprise.
“Hold your shirt up. I’m tying your top back on,” he assures. He fits bikini over your chest and knots the string to tighten it. The butterflies are back in your stomach as you feel his touch. He walks over to the bin and throws the tissues and washes his hands over at the sink. You follow him over and wrap your arms around his waist, which takes him by surprise. “I’m still pretty soaked you know” he says. You laugh, snuggling against his back even more.
“Will I see you again?” you ask, reluctant to let go. You know it would be difficult because he was an idol, and you were just someone else. He lifts your arms off him, turns around, and fits your arms around his waist again, this time facing you. He just looks so fucking good from every angle. He could put the Greek Gods to shame.
San smiles at you and presses a soft kiss onto your forehead, you completely melt under his touch. “I might be a little busy because of scheduling but during my pockets of free time, I’ll find you.” He takes your hand towards the trailer door. He unlocks the door and pushes it ajar, checking if the coast is clear. He pushes the door wider, and you follow him. The both of you walk hand in hand for awhile until he lets go.
“I’ll be off first. See you around y/n. That was an amazing time with you”, he smiles, and you see a tint of pink colouring across his tanned skin. You take his hand and kiss his palm. “See you”, you reply. He pulls you into a hug and your heart flutters again. Another kiss planted on your forehead and he waves goodbye before disappearing.
Oh dear. Looks like you’re head over heels for sure.

Sipping on your drink in a musty club was not what you imagined to happen right after your last college exam ever. But Hyuna is a very convincing individual, and that is how you ended up in said club, tipsy and laughing with your best friend, wearing your skimpiest little black dress.
It was too hot in the club, your makeup felt like it was melting away even though it remind looking perfect and fresh, Hyuna was drunk, and you were tipsy, you needed to pee so badly but, it was all perfect. It was exactly how every weekend used to go back in your first year of college.
There was many men and women that were hot, but for some reason, through all these college years, no one ever piked your interested. No one but Daniel, back in second year of college, it’s a sticky situation. You wouldn’t call it love, but, it’s been so long and the fact you defied your parents for him, it’d be shameful to breakup with him now.
“And so, we broke up” Hyuna finishes, shaking her hand in a funny way. Hyuna was too cute for her own good.
“I know babe, I was there.”
“Alreast we ended on good terms” she pouts slightly while you nod in agreement.
You excuse yourself to the bathroom, releasing the heaviness in the pit of your stomach. God you hated holding your pee in. Washing your hands and drying them, you rip a bit of tissue, tapping away the slight sweat by your hairline, and adjusting your bangs. You give yourself a once over, before returning to Hyuna.
“Yeah she’s about medium height, listens more than talks when tipsy, eh has huge eyes..” as you near Hyuna you over hear some tall guy in a black button up explain someone to her.
“Mmm that must be my bestie Y/N, she went to empty her weak bladder love” she says sipping on her drink.
“I heard my name-“ you gasp, heart immediately quickening at the familiar doe eyes staring back at you.
“Jungkook?” You ask in disbelief.
He smirks, “long time no see huh?”
You almost do a double take as Hyuna excuses herself, winking at you swiftly.
What has happened to him? Why is he so tall, and hot? So fucking handsome out of nowhere. You remember him as a shy 18 year old, heading off for college with big doe eyes and short spikey hair. This, this is not the same Jungkook that’s left you behind. Sure he’s older by two years, but goddamn. Time did him good.
“Yeah I mean 7 years is a lot of time but wow,” you scoff in amusement, “time did you good Jungkook.”
“I can tell you the same thing,” he eyes you up and down, “you became a woman. Wow. A smart one at that, masters degree in law? I’m proud of you.”
Sitting down at the stools by the bar you smile softly, “thank you.”
“So catch me up, I haven’t seen you for a long time. How are you? Are dating? How are you parents”.
Chuckling you make a mental note of the fact he no longer is the shy boy you know, he’s straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush anymore, “I’m doing good, and yes I’m seeing someone. And my parents, they’re not talking to me.”
His brows pull into a frown, eyes glancing at you as yours land on his large hand wrapped around the shot glass, “seeing someone? Dating or trying it out?”.
“Dating, for awhile now actually.”
He nods, swallowing the drink in one swing, “and your parents? Why aren’t they talking to you hm? Do i need to talk to them?”.
“You’re still in contact with them? And no you don’t need to. They don’t approve of Daniel. They think he isn’t good for me, we had an argument, and they never called me again. To cut it short for you.”
He hums.
You take a minute take a really good long look at him. He’s dressed in all black, hair dark and eyes still doe but yet so alluring and seductive. Lips still the same just a lot more blushed and juicy, mature in a sense. Jaw sharp and skin glistening. His right hand sharing hints of tattoos and you smirk at that.
“What are you doing here by the way? If you don’t mind me asking.” You ask, sipping on the drink the bartender just slipped to you.
“I moved back, got my own apartment. Thought it made more sense to move here since the main company is situated here.” He says, eyes so attentive to you, you could swear you were spiking a fever just by the way you’re blushing.
“Mhm what company do you work for?” You ask, trying to mindlessly keep the conversation going.
“R.A.M & Co” he answers smoothly.
“Ooh I heard about them, apparently very successful.”
“You could say that” he smirks once again.
Your phone buzzes and you apologise. Answering swiftly, Daniels voice rings on the other end, asking you to come home and sighing you agree.
“I’m going to head out now Kook, take care of yourself hm?” You nod goodbye to him.
“Get home safely” he smiled back at you.
Walking home wasn’t necessarily alarming, or scary for you. You’ve know this big town for awhile, walked the streets thousands of times. Throwing your head back and exhaling, you think about Jungkook and how much he’s grown to be a man. The cold night drawing as cloud of fog to escape your lips.
Jungkook became a man whose begging to be worshipped. You’ve never been a disloyal person, but it’s not like your current relationship actually has any love there. You know Daniel sees other women on a regular, you just choose to ignore it. You’ve made a mess between yourself and your family, it would be embarrassing to break up now.
Scanning the streets, your eyes mimics the street lights and the many neon signs embracing the vast city. But somewhere in the back of your mind, actually no, right in the middle of your mind, you see yourself with Jungkook. Hands wrapped in his black hair, lips on his and bodies heating up with the activities you partake in, and for the first time in awhile you feel the buzz of some form of a good feeling. Perhaps, lust?
Huffing to yourself, you pull your dress down your ass. How could you imagine such vulgar things with a man who used to be your best friend? But good god, how could you not? The man is literally sex on legs, fuck he drove you crazy and it took him just a mere half an hour to talk with you. You wonder just how many girls begged to have him just for one night.
Lazily pulling out the keys to your apartment, you sigh, knowing Daniel is inside of it, about to scold you for going out and living your life once again. You should have never gave him a key to your place. That was your first big mistake.
Stepping into the house, you slip your shoes of, hanging your bag on the coating rack and strolling into the living room. Where of course, he’s sat on the couch, head in his hands that were supported on his knees. By all means, Daniel wasn’t a bad looking guy. He was hot, abs for days deep black eyes with a buzz cut.
“We need to talk” he mutters.
“Daniel if you’re going to scold me for going out again save I-“
“I’m breaking up with you.” He says, getting up of the couch and staring across the room at you.
Your hands stop pulling the grapes of the branches, your stomach pausing in the middle of your inhale. What? The edge of the kitchen island dug into your belly uncomfortably. All of a sudden?.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“You heard me Y/N, i can’t keep being with someone who has no respect or love for me.” He continues.
You Scoff, smirking in anger as your jaw slacks, your hand slaps against the marble and your rock back and forth on your heels, “oh save the crap. I’ve stayed with your two years Daniel, despite the fact you’ve been fucking all the girls behind my back, and I’m the one that doesn’t have respect for you? Oh go fuck yourself honestly.”
He pales slightly, his figure stiffening at your angry form, “leave my house Daniel.”
He does as you ask, not muttering a single word as your eyes begin to swell with tears once the door of your apartment shuts. You couldn’t believe you wasted all this time on someone whose so fucking useless and disrespectful. But that’s what you get for being naive, for not putting yourself first.
On the counter, your phone buzzes. An unknown number pops up and you think for a second if you should answer, after a second you press the green circle and put the phone to your ear.
“Did you get home safely?” You recognise that smooth voice, and it sends shivers down your spine.
“Yes,” you replied “how did you get my number.”
“Hyuna” he mutters lowly.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m perfect,” he chuckles, “are you?”
The beat of silence gets loud, pounding between your phone lines as you inhale sharply, “he broke up with me.”
He laughs lowly, “mhm good. You didn’t love him anyway, and correct me if im wrong, but don’t you deserve better?”.
“What are you getting at Jungkook?”
The line on his side goes quiet and for a minute you think he hung up on you, “you really think I don’t know who he is? Baby, I know everything about him. He’s nothing but a fake. He’s merely a man of his words.”
Furrowing your brows you sigh, “I still don’t understand what you’re trying to say.”
“I could make you feel things he’d never be capable of.”
“Jungkook-“
“Would you let me in if I knocked on your door right now?”
Stilling, your frown deepens in confusion, “what?”.
A knock echoes through your apartment, and your lips part. How the fuck does he know your address?
“Jungkook how do you know where I live?”
“Answer the door baby, I’ll explain everything.”
Your heart rate is probably through the roof, but you cannot decipher if that’s the result of Jungkook’s impeccable stalking abilities, or because he makes you want to give him your body right that second. Despite that, you open the door and there he was, in all his glory, black leather jacket now engulfing his body.
You let him in, following behind him as he looks around. His eyes find yours within seconds, and god did they look anything but innocent this moment.
He stalks towards you, cornering you into the wall, arm above your head as he leans down to be eye level with you. At this second, he could murder you, maybe even kidnap you, but something inside you would let him do both of the things. He looks like he’s famished, ready to devour whatever meal you give him and god do you want to give him the best meal of his life. His dark eyes, pierced through yours as they watched the metal ring around his lip. Why is he so damn fucking attractive right now?
His single look, makes you feel everything you haven’t in your two year relationship. You feel high, ecstatic as if you’re in cloud nine right now. As if nothing, absolutely nothing could hurt you or touch you but him. And you’re so fucking good with that, actually, you’re in love with that.
He was too good to be true, his whole demeanour possessive, manly and dominant. The siren eyes, the smirking lips and confident body language was driving you insane and if humanly possible, you’d orgasm right there and then.
The tension in the room was strong. Thick like a million bands carefully weaved together to create a sheath of nothing but sheer lust, and sex crazed energy. It could raise the roof if it was physical, whining like a whistle of a boiling kettle, threatening to blow the windows around you within a millisecond. Even the air around you was hot heavy and so dangerous. One word could break it or make it and the longer you stared at each other, the tighter the band tied. Threatening to snap at any given moment.
“Take me,” you whisper, “Jungkook.”
His smirk deepens, eyes becoming even darker than before and you knew, you knew this was going to be the best time of your life. Like the flash of thunder, Jungkooks lips latched onto yours. Sucking on them like a hungry man, tongue poking through to wander around your mouth, fighting tugging massaging your own as you moaned into the heated kiss.
“Bedroom, first door on the right.” You muttered hurriedly, peeling the black leather jacket of him and tossing it somewhere there in the living room.
Untying the laces of your dress, he smirks, “oh yeah?”.
“Fuck Jungkook don’t be a tease right now” you whined.
Chuckling he follows you into the room, discarding your clothes haphazardly everywhere around your house, cluttering your floors with a mix of yours and his clothes. You stand before him in a red lace bra and underwear, and scoffs in amuse.
“He was missing out on all this?” He shakes his head tsking.
You stood before him, skin caramel and glistening even in the dark, the only source of light being the glowing moon seeping into your windows, painting you in a blue light. God you were beautiful, your skin soft and smooth. You were a wonderful woman and he was in disbelief that your ex didn’t worship you the way you should be. He’s never expected to find you to be this grown. Breasts spilling out of your bra, ass round a plump and he could smell the femininity of you. The smell of woman and maturity and he loved it.
With no time to waste, he ripped the materials of your body. Lips immediately finding place in your skin, kissing, biting licking. You squirmed underneath him, begging to feel him in you already, but he was a patient man, and he knew he had to give you a bit of time.
Finger rubbing up and down your seeping slit, he groans. Fuck your were so wet, it was trickling down your ass you could feel it. His finger prodded your entrance, slipping in slowly mouth finally finding place in your clit and you gasped, moaning softly as his finger hooked inside you, thrusting carefully and gently inside you. Maddening you every second that goes by and he knew, he loved it.
His lips suctioned on your clit, tip of his tongue flicking up and down, stimulating your mind to a whole different dimension. Your body electrified, buzzing with a certain high you haven’t felt for what felt like ancient time. Your flesh felt like it was crawling with a million ants, tingling, tickling you all the way from your toes to your head, sweat began formulating on your skin, turning to a light blush pink hue, your fingers itching to tangle in his hair, feeling the silk locks falling through your fingers.
The pit of your stomach felt like it had a rock inside it, begging to be relieved, lifted out. Your legs closing in around his head as he moaned onto your pussy, your moans pitching to a melody he hasn’t heard ever be this beautiful. His finger rubbing up into your flesh, curling, thrusting, triggering your pussy to flutter. Your arousal coating his chin, his hand, your legs and anything close enough to it. Your stomach falling and rising with your quickened breaths, your ribs flaring as your back arched, walls clenching around his finger, and with a final suck of his lips, you cummed around his finger, whining as you smacked your lips together to poke your tongue out, moisturising the dry flesh.
“You good?” He asks, coming back up your body like a snake weaving around you.
You hummed a yes, nimble fingers trailing from his broad shoulders to neck and finally at the base of his head, urging him to close the distance between your lips. He tasted of you, with a hint of mint.
“I need you, now”
He smirked, blinking lazily as he reached behind him, successfully pulling his boxers off himself. His dick was hard, you could feel it between your folds, rubbing up and down to coat itself in your essence. Looking right into his eyes, he held your stare, pushing the tip of his cock inside, slowly, filling you up. Your walls stretched with a sting, nothing too painful, at least not to a point you didn’t enjoy it.
You could feel him in the base of your stomach, both of you gasping right as he bottomed out. Your head lifting of the pillow minimally, left hand still wrapped into the base of his locks. He gave you a few minutes to adjust, before dragging himself out, barely living the tip in, before thrusting back in. Your moans bounced of the walls, hanging in the air ghostly. Skin on skin, heat rushing between both you as his pace picked up, his head in buried in the crook of your neck, where occasionally, his lips would suck with the intent to leave a mark behind.
The electricity between you felt like it was almost igniting bigger sparks every time your skin would rub of each other.
With his cock dragging in and out of you rhythmically, your eyes shut. Back arching into hot and sweaty body, head tilting back into the pillow, throat so attractive to Jungkook eyes he couldn’t help himself but to suck another pretty purple bruise right there. With your hands trailing down his back and landing on his ass, he chuckles softly, feeling the way you begin to clench around him again, sucking him in tighter, and he lets out a strangled groan right into your ear, prompting you to whine just as beautifully.
But as the coil in your stomach begins to warn, your moans pick up in volume. Nails dragging around his back, surely marking him just as his tight grip is on your hip. Leaving finger prints right there and you loved it. Before you knew it, the knot snaps inside you, ripping a loud moan out of you, before it got stuck in your throat, and all that Jungkook could do was chase his high, staring at your face, watching as your features pulled into ecstasy, and it was enough to send Jungkook soaring, filling you up with his warm cum.
You stayed wrapped around each other for another minute, before he dropped on the other side of the bed beside you. Smiling crazily to himself almost not believing he just nutted into the woman he’s loved since he was a 14 year old shy boy damn.
Looking at each other almost instinctively, both of you burst into laughter. Before the rapid knocking of your door sends you into dressing yourselves in a hurried rush. Jungkook followed behind you slowly, watching as you opened the door, gasping.
“Mom?”

I never expected Clarcton to be so plain. As a girl, I used to dream about escaping the swamp, imagining a world beyond my responsibilities—a world full of beauty and freedom. But standing in the little village’s town square, those daydreams evaporated like morning mist.
Stover, the tiniest town in Clarcton, was quaint and small, with cobblestone streets and wooden cottages that seemed to lean on each other for support. The townspeople moved with the kind of slow, deliberate pace that comes from a life untroubled by haste. Their eyes lingered on me, and I could feel their curiosity as they assessed the stranger in their midst. I stood out just by being different, my scars a map of battles they couldn’t fathom.
Through a day of shopping, I learned that Stover rarely saw travelers. The elves invading the northern tip had made the locals wary, and I could hear their whispers about my scars. Ignoring them wasn’t easy, but I’d be gone tomorrow. The market was a small square, stalls offering modest wares—fresh produce, simple cloth, handcrafted trinkets. Each vendor seemed to eye me with a mix of suspicion and pity.
Northorn still held strong, its capital unfallen. King Edward had called for aid from Whopping, a fishing town on the east coast. The wolves of Viridi Gramine had decided not to help the humans, heading instead to Bangtan to protect their princess. Hearing the townsfolk speak ill of Hyuna made my stomach churn. These people were ignorant, jumping to conclusions like humans always did since the Sarkans first landed in Lustra.
Starving, I dropped off my supplies and set out for food. Hannah, a kind woman who ran the inn, had pointed me to a tavern that promised a decent meal. However, I was low on money and too frightened to barter. Drawing attention could be dangerous, especially after hearing rumors of elves in town. I’d hidden in shops, body tense, the sight of white hair sending chills down my spine.
Elves all looked the same—pale, white-haired, with amethyst eyes. This party had no women, and when I asked the tailor, he explained that their kind had a queendom where men were lesser beings. These elves were young and inexperienced, sent to weaken before the real conquerors arrived. The tailor believed Lustra would fall when the second wave came.
The tavern buzzed with an overwhelming clamor. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of ale and sweat, and it was clear that I was the only human present. The elves, their pale faces flushed with drink, were loud and rowdy, their laughter grating on my ears. Ale sloshed over the edges of their mugs, splattering the wooden floor. Keeping my head down, I approached the bar and ordered soup and ale, deciding it was safer to stay than to risk attracting attention by leaving too soon.
Finding a corner table, I settled in, hoping to blend into the shadows. The warmth of the tavern was a stark contrast to the chill outside, but it did little to soothe my nerves. As I waited for my meal, snippets of conversation drifted to me. The elves boasted of their exploits, their voices dripping with arrogance. They spoke of battles and conquests, their laughter tinged with cruelty. Each word stoked the fire of my hatred, but I kept my face impassive, my gaze fixed on the table in front of me.
When the tavern maid brought my soup and ale, I thanked her quietly, avoiding eye contact. The soup was hearty, its warmth spreading through my body with each spoonful. The ale, though bitter, helped to steady my nerves. I ate slowly, trying to make the meal last as long as possible.
As I ate, a group of elves at a nearby table grew louder, their taunts more pointed. They spoke about the humans they had encountered, their words laced with contempt. One of them, a particularly burly elf with a scar running down his cheek, caught my eye and sneered. “Look at that one,” he said loudly, gesturing towards me. “Thinks she can hide among us.”
The others laughed, and I forced myself to remain calm, taking another sip of my ale. The burly elf stood, his steps unsteady, and made his way over to my table. “What’s your name, human?” he demanded, leaning in close, the stench of alcohol on his breath.
I looked up, meeting his gaze with as much defiance as I could muster. “None of your business,” I replied evenly.
His sneer widened, and he reached out, grabbing my arm. “Feisty one, aren’t you? I like that.” He pulled me to my feet, and I could feel the eyes of the entire tavern on us. The room had fallen silent, the tension palpable.
The elf’s grip tightened, and I winced, but refused to show fear. “Let go of me,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Or what?” he taunted, pulling me closer. “You’ll make me?”
Before I could react, a flash of movement caught my eye. Another elf, smaller and quicker, appeared beside the burly one. “Enough, Dalion,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “Leave her be.”
Dalion hesitated, his grip loosening slightly. “Why? She’s just a human.”
“Because I said so,” the other elf replied, his tone brooking no argument. “We don’t need any more trouble.”
With a grunt, Dalion released me, shoving me back into my chair. “Fine,” he muttered, glaring at me one last time before returning to his table. The smaller elf gave me a brief nod before following.
I took a shaky breath, my heart pounding. The tavern slowly returned to its previous state, the noise level rising once more. I finished my meal quickly, eager to leave and find some semblance of safety. As I paid for my food, I noticed the smaller elf watching me, his expression unreadable. I decided to go to the bar and finish my night there.
At the bar, a hooded figure sipped clear liquor, the sharp smell cutting through the tavern's haze. The bartender, his eyes darting between me and the elves, asked where I was from.
"Leeside," I lied, knowing he saw through it but didn’t call me out. He knew my destination and that Leeside was big enough to hide in. "Just passing through."
He nodded, wiping the bar. The elves were bothering a drunk old man for money, out of coins and still thirsty.
"Heard about Azamar?" the bartender asked.
I nodded, taking a bite. "Hot. Too bad, I’ve heard it’s nice this time of year."
The hooded figure shifted, drawing my instinctive gaze. Her teeth were too large, canines sharp, and one incisor framed in gold—a mark of an assassin from Whopping, according to Hoseok.
"The plains are worse," she said, her voice rough but feminine. "Hard to see anything if you go that far south."
"The northern tip isn’t too bad," I replied without thinking. "I came in through that way."
"Interesting."
She knew I was lying. Keeping my fear in check, I ate. The bartender offered another bowl on the house, which I accepted, knowing hot meals would be scarce. The elves grew louder, and I wanted to leave. Tomorrow, I’d memorize the maps Sam packed.
"Hey! You!"
I closed my eyes, feeling their gaze. They spoke a bastardized Lustrian, discussing my potential in bed and survival odds. I resisted the urge to respond, knowing a fight would expose me. Humans feared magic, as Aldara always said.
"Girl," another elf slurred, "give me some money. I need another drink."
The bartender, catching on, turned his back. I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. He knew I understood them. I was obviously not an elf, so the options were shifter or witch—either one could spell trouble if the bartender exposed me out of ignorance.
"I’m talking to you, bicce."
My eye twitched. The bartender noticed, realization dawning. He turned away, leaving me to fend for myself.
Fortunately, he didn't look disgusted by me. His face remained remarkably neutral as he returned with a refill. He carefully placed a napkin on the bar before setting down the glass. I glanced at him, then at the woman out of the corner of my eye. She was tense, her head inclined towards me, her eyes hidden but clearly watching me as closely as the elves were. They were louder now, frustrated by my lack of response. I picked up my glass and read the smudged writing on the napkin.
"I'm Vern."
I took a sip, nodding, keeping my face impassive. Quietly, I ordered another drink, placing a copper coin on the bar, and pointed at the group with my thumb. I didn’t care what they wanted, but I hoped Vern wouldn’t provoke them. With great care, I picked up the napkin.
Crumpling it in my hand, I muttered under my breath, wiping it against my lips before placing it back on the bar. I went back to eating. Vern brought the elf his drink, and their angry taunts stopped. The one who called me a bitch thanked me in a condescending tone. I wanted to tear him apart, but instead, I drank my ale and ate my vegetable soup.
Vern came back, picking up my napkin and walking over to the trash can behind the bar. The traveler next to me was still staring, and I knew she knew what had happened. They both had their secrets. She stayed hidden beneath her cloak, while Vern saw too much. Both of them were searching for something, but I couldn’t tell you what. I did know, however, that lying would only make me look worse. I had given him my first name and hoped that would satisfy his curiosity.
Another napkin appeared in front of me. Vern was wiping down glasses, back turned, and I was sure no one except the three of us understood what was going on. I glanced down.
"Moland. Etta Ketchens’ son."
So, there was another witch around. Moland was the original land of magic. All witches alive today descended from those who first discovered it in the swamps. Bangtan stole the title after witches began making deals with the ielfen. Their world was linked to the spirit realm, and the monsters that lived there were difficult to manage, so they sent them to the forests. The witches were strong enough to keep them away, but the creatures found refuge in Bangtan.
Anyone from Moland had magic, and I had heard of Etta from Thelma. She was from the northeast. I had never met her, but she was known for playing music and throwing great parties. Trusting Vern became easier. We were in the same boat, and witches liked to stick together. At the very least, I knew I had backup if it came down to a fight.
"Bangtan. Thelma Richard’s niece."
He nodded, his eyes wandering to the woman at the end of the bar. She hadn’t taken her eyes off us since the written exchange began. Her eyes seemed to glow within the darkness that surrounded her face, boring into me, waiting for something. Feeling exposed, I stood. It was time to leave. I had done what I came here to do, and the elves were starting to badger people for money again.
Vern shook his head and glanced down at my seat, giving me pause. Gaze turning to the woman, she shrugged and shook her head in agreement. I had no reason to trust either of them, but I had a feeling in my gut. Even if we wouldn’t normally help each other, right now, we had a common enemy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Aldara would say I should listen before reacting. So, when the woman offered to buy me another drink, I sat back down.
“They’re planning on following you home,” Vern murmured, placing a glass in front of me.
“How do you know that?”
“I’m gifted. You could say I specialize in mind magic.”
Stiffening, I eyed him with new wariness. That’s how he knew I was lying; he could hear my thoughts. Vern nodded, answering my unasked question.
“I’m not concentrating on you,” he clarified. “I’m trying to watch them. I’m just picking up bits and pieces of everyone else. She’s—” He looked at the woman, “—not human either. She’s trying to decide if she should accompany you. You’re both going east.”
The elves were back to insulting me for another drink. I gritted my teeth, my anger and frustration bubbling over. I’d always been a hothead, but my emotions felt so volatile now. I hated them. I hated everything they stood for. Cordelia’s dead body flashed in my mind, and Vern couldn’t hide the horror on his face.
“Bicce!”
Beside me, the woman turned her attention to the elves.
“Don’t speak to her like that,” she growled.
Their group stopped their taunts, a thick, tense silence falling over the bar. Tensing, I prepared to defend her. She didn’t need to take up for me, but my hatred made the decision easy. I wanted to kill them all.
The elf scoffed in disbelief. Vern’s eyes widened in horror, and he reached out towards the hooded woman. I knew what was coming, and instead of waiting, I took action.
I’d always been a loose cannon, but these last few days had made me feel more unhinged than ever. Anger, sorrow, and hatred coiled tightly in my stomach, driving me insane. The nightmares. The heartache. Yoongi’s blank stare. Cordelia’s lifeless body in the flames. Jimin’s anguish. Sol’s betrayal. All of it consumed me, and for once, I didn’t try to stomp the flames out.
“Swígan!” I shouted, turning to face the elves. I had reached my limit. Knowing I had at least one other witch on my side, I felt emboldened. “Mieltan.”
The iron ring on my finger melted, searing my skin, but I hardly registered the burn. I shot the melted iron like a rocket, stabbing the elf who disrespected me through the chest. Dalion couldn’t scream. When I retracted the metal, there was a hole so large I could see through his body. The other three stared, mouths agape, before turning on me. The dead one fell to the floor with a thud.
The remaining elves rushed at me, their movements fluid and unnervingly synchronized. I didn’t hesitate. The iron ring, now a molten band around my finger, reshaped itself into a thin, sharp blade. I slashed at the closest elf, the blade slicing clean through his raised arm. Blue blood sprayed, and his scream was a piercing wail.
I spun, my instincts sharpened by adrenaline, and kicked another elf, the one who had defended me earlier, square in the chest, sending him crashing into a table. Wood splintered under his weight, and the patrons near him scrambled to get away. The third elf tried to grab me from behind, but I twisted, using the momentum to elbow him hard in the face. His nose crunched, blood spurting as he staggered back, clutching his face.
The elf with the severed arm was still screaming, trying to cast a spell with his remaining hand. I didn’t give him the chance. I lunged, driving the blade into his throat. His eyes widened, a gurgle escaping as he collapsed.
The elf I had kicked was back on his feet, rage contorting his features. He muttered an incantation, and I felt a wave of energy pulse towards me. Instinctively, I threw up a shield, the air crackling with the force of our opposing magics. My shield held, but I could feel the strain. I couldn’t let him overpower me. With a snarl, I pushed back, my magic flaring, and the shield exploded outward, knocking him off his feet.
Vern had been right about the woman. She was a shifter, and now her cloak had fallen away, revealing her true form. She was massive, her muscles rippling under her skin and a pair of black ears poked through her long, black hair. She let out a roar, leaping into the fray with a ferocity that matched my own. She tackled the elf who had been behind me, her nails elongating into claws that raked across his chest. He shrieked, trying to fend her off, but she was relentless, tearing into him with a savage precision.
The elf I had knocked down was getting back up, and I moved to intercept him. He cast another spell, a bolt of energy shooting towards me. I dodged, the bolt sizzling past my ear and scorching the wall behind me. I retaliated with a burst of fire, the flames engulfing him. He screamed, thrashing as the fire consumed him, and then he was silent, his charred body crumpling to the floor.
The last elf was still alive, barely. He was pinned under the woman, her claws at his throat. He looked up at me, eyes wide with fear. I walked over, the molten blade in my hand dripping with blue blood. I knelt down, meeting his gaze.
“You should have left me alone,” I said softly, before driving the blade into his heart.
The bar was silent now, the only sounds the crackling of the flames and the labored breathing of the survivors. The humans who were coherent enough to watch the altercation fled the bar screaming while the others were too drunk to care. I still had energy to burn, shaking with the force of my emotions. Too quickly. I wanted more time with them. I wanted to kill them again and again. I wanted to earn their hatred. I wanted—
“What’s your name?”
I looked at the hooded woman. Her face was covered in blood, and she smiled crookedly. She had deep, pitted dimples, and pieces of jewelry shone inside them.
"Y/N," I replied, keeping my voice steady.
"Lily," she said, giving me a small bow before standing up. Her muscles bulged and twitched with each movement, almost as tall as Jimin. Her hands were adorned with intricate tattoos, and her nails were a vivid ruby red. "Would you mind some company during your travels?"
"Do you know your way through Ozryn?" I asked, eyeing her warily.
She nodded. "I'm from Idris. I'm meeting some friends in the mountains."
Despite my earlier reluctance, this woman might be my only option for crossing the mountains safely. Assassin or not, she was offering her services, and my violent display earlier should deter any funny business. She might beat me in a physical fight, but I had magic on my side, fueled by enough emotional turmoil to last a lifetime. The fact that we were both shifters aided in my trust. We were both wanted citizens if the elves had anything to say about it, and her exposing herself made it hard to justify turning her away.
“You’re obviously a shifter,” I said, placing my remaining coins on the bar. Vern deserved the tip. He'd been an excellent server. "What are you?"
"Maned Wolf," she answered, already walking toward the bar exit. That meant she was half-wolf, half-fox. It would not surprise me if she was the last of her kind. "We should leave. Those humans have alerted the local police about your little... situation."
I looked at Vern, who was quick to agree with Lily’s plan. He would cover for us. Thanking him, I followed the huge woman out of the bar. She hadn't really answered my question, but given the circumstances, I let it slide. I had just murdered four people in a bar. I should have felt more shame, but I couldn't muster any. They killed Cordelia. They deserved it.
“We can collect your belongings from the inn and leave. Okay?”
I agreed. We moved quickly. No one was at the front desk when I entered, making sneaking upstairs a cakewalk. I threw my bag over my shoulder and grabbed the few personal items I had lying around. A deep sadness settled into my chest as I thought back to the fight. I hated flashbacks, but I was starting to realize there was something I disliked even more: myself.
I should have just left and minded my own business. That’s what Jimin would have done. A fight would be a last resort. Instead, I acted a fool for someone I didn’t even know, a woman whose face I couldn’t pick out in a lineup, who could easily have turned her back on me the moment I killed the first man. I didn’t stop to consider that someone else might have abandoned me back there. I was so used to being surrounded by people who loved me that hindsight was 20/20. This time, I had simply gotten lucky. If it had been anyone other than an elf I killed, they would have been disgusted by me. Hell, I felt disgusted by my actions.
Cordelia wouldn’t have been able to look me in the eye after a stunt like that.
Shaking myself out of my daze, I rushed back downstairs. Hannah was at the desk now, and three men wearing navy blue uniforms were crowding her. Quickly, I stopped and kept myself hidden in the shadows, body pressed against the wall as I listened in. They hadn’t heard my footsteps. Human ears were very weak.
“I told you I don’t have any witches staying here,” the human girl barked, clearly fed up with their interrogation. “The old man must have been confused. Vernon even said he was being ridiculous. Those elves were nowhere near the tavern.”
“Well, we can’t find them anywhere else, and it wasn’t just John. Betsy said she saw it happen as well.”
“Betsy?” Hannah drawled, placing her hands on her hips. “So you have a drunk and a schizophrenic's testimony? Have to say, Charles, I expected more from you.”
“Now Ms. Winslow—” one of the men attempted to speak, but Hannah flashed him a dark look. He quieted quickly.
“No,” she spoke in a bored, cold tone that reminded me of Yoongi. They even had the same unimpressed, irritated look. “The three of you came barging in here in the middle of the night, ranting and raving about a witch on the loose who, by the way, according to my records, does not exist. I don’t know where any of you got off waking me and my father at a time like this, but he’s far too sick to be dealing with this mess. So, either tell me a name I can work with or get the hell out. Your choice.”
I was impressed with the girl. She had to have known who they were searching for. I had suddenly popped up, and now you have four elves dead in a bar? Too coincidental. Still, she was covering for me, and I was grateful. It was a shame I was out of money.
“Sorry for your troubles, Hannah,” the man in the middle said, tipping his hat. “Hope Maurice feels better soon. We’ll go and ask Martha and Dawn about it. You could be right about the two kooks.”
I didn’t like the way they talked about John or Betsy. They might have been a bit odd, but they were not liars. I hoped their words wouldn’t get them into any trouble, at least not on my behalf. I’d much rather get arrested and escape than let anyone else get locked up. The policemen left, the wooden door slamming behind them.
“You can come out now.”
Walking the rest of the way down, I hoped my face conveyed how sorry I felt. I didn’t want anyone else inconvenienced because of me. Hannah, however, looked very happy. With a big smile, she greeted me. Lily crawled out from under the desk, hood still securely on, and patted the other girl’s head.
"Congratulations on winning your fight," the human drawled, dark hair tousled from just waking up.
"It's not something worth celebrating," I replied, handing my sack over to Lily when she held out her hand for it. "Thank you," I told the massive woman.
"You need a coat," the traveler demanded, her voice brooking no argument. "It's cold."
Opening my bag, she started digging around before finally landing on the cloak I bought this morning. It was heavy, lined in white fur, and beautifully handcrafted. The most expensive thing I bought next to the boots I was wearing. The outside of it had a beautiful ornate flower pattern spun in a delicate silver color, almost perfectly matching the shade of Jimin’s hair.
"This is nice," Lily commented absentmindedly, handing over the cloak. "Good purchase."
I tied it around my shoulders and charmed it like the rest of my clothes. Taking things on and off would take too much time in an emergency. Lily slung my bag over her shoulder like it weighed nothing, and I was glad to be rid of it. Flying would be easier without the annoyance of straps.
Then it hit me. I couldn't fly as quickly as I normally did. If I had a wolf hybrid traveling with me, I would need to travel in the only way she could. On foot. It was almost enough to make me second-guess bringing her along. Alas, I needed the extra hands, and a guide who knew the area was too good of a resource to flush down the drain. Traveling would take longer, but I would have a better chance at living through this.
"The best elves are the dead ones," Hannah yawned. "You should get going. They’re going to be looking for you all night. Vern cleaned up the mess already, so don’t worry about it. He sends his love."
I nodded. "Tell him if he wants to go back to Moland anytime soon, to stay east and travel down the Syrena River. Most of the witches are in Foxglove now. You both could find some protection there."
She smiled at me. "When my father is well enough for the journey, I’m positive that fool will be taking the two of us with him."
There was no mistaking the affection in her voice.
"You two…" I trailed off. "He loves you."
Thinking back to the moment she was brought up, I had not noticed the same tenderness in Vern’s voice. However, the fact that he had spoken to her about me in such great detail pointed to some sort of relationship. It being a romantic one made me unreasonably happy. They were both friends of mine, even if they did not see me in the same light. I was happy they were together. Witches and humans were not a typical pairing, but I could say the same about my own situation.
"Almost as much as I love him," she winked.
"We need to go," Lily gruffed, grabbing my arm. "I can hear them making their way back towards the inn," she frowned at Hannah. "They’re going to bother you for a little while. Sorry about the trouble."
"Like I said," she huffed, "You did everyone a favor. I don’t want to hear another word about it."
"Thank you," I told her. "For everything. Vern too."
"Go," she replied, shooing us away with her hands. "Go around the back. There’s a small nature reserve that stretches on for a few miles. Keep north before heading east. That should take you to Azamar Pass, but stay close to the volcano. They have encampments everywhere."
Azamar Pass was a small stretch of land connecting Lustra to the island where the Ula’re volcano rested. A large bridge connected it to Northorn and another to the land before the Ozryn mountains. It was likely the safest place for us to travel through despite the treacherous terrain. According to my maps, it was filled with hills and jagged cliffs that could kill you easily. Lily seemed confident enough, so I decided to follow her. She knew this place better than I ever did.
"I know the area well," Lily assured the girl. "We will be safe."
I had to trust she was telling the truth.
We slipped out the back, the night air biting through the fur-lined cloak. The reserve Hannah mentioned was darker than I expected, the thick canopy of trees blotting out the moonlight. We moved quickly, our breath fogging in the cold air. Lily led the way, her steps confident despite the uneven ground. I followed closely, every crunch of leaves underfoot setting my nerves on edge.
The silence between us stretched, only the sounds of our hurried steps and the occasional rustle of wildlife breaking it. My mind raced, replaying the events of the night. I had always been a hothead, but tonight felt different. It wasn't just anger that drove me, but a deeper, more consuming fury. Cordelia’s death had changed something in me, twisted a part of my soul that I wasn’t sure I could ever untangle.
"Are you alright?" Lily’s voice broke through my thoughts. She had stopped and was looking back at me, her eyes sharp even in the dim light.
"Yeah," I lied, not trusting myself to say more.
She studied me for a moment, then nodded. "We’re almost there. Azamar Pass is just beyond these woods."
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. We continued on, the terrain growing steeper as we neared the pass. The ground beneath our feet turned rocky, the air heavy with the scent of sulfur. The volcano loomed in the distance, a dark silhouette against the night sky.
We reached the edge of the reserve and paused, taking in the sight before us. The pass was a narrow strip of land, flanked by jagged cliffs and treacherous drops. It was more daunting in person than it had seemed on my maps.
"Stay close," Lily warned, her voice low. "The winds can be brutal up here, and the paths are narrow."
We started across, the wind immediately whipping at our clothes and hair. I pulled my cloak tighter around me, every step a fight against the elements. Lily moved with the grace of someone who had done this a hundred times before, her large frame somehow slipping through the narrowest of paths with ease.
Halfway across, the ground trembled beneath our feet, a low rumble emanating from the volcano. I froze, fear clutching at my heart. Lily glanced back, her expression unreadable.
"Keep moving," she urged. "It’s just a tremor."
I forced myself to keep going, each step feeling like an eternity. The path seemed to go on forever, the cliffs on either side closing in like the jaws of some great beast. By the time we reached the other side, my legs were shaking and my lungs burned from the effort.
We collapsed on the ground, the safety of solid land a welcome relief. Lily pulled out a canteen and handed it to me. I took a grateful sip, the water cool and refreshing.
"Thank you," I said, my voice hoarse.
She nodded, wiping sweat from her brow. "We need to keep moving. There’s a cave not far from here where we can rest for the night."
We got to our feet and continued on, the landscape gradually shifting from rocky terrain to dense forest once more. The trees grew thicker, their branches intertwining overhead to form a natural canopy that blocked out most of the sky. The sounds of the forest began to surround us—the rustle of leaves, the distant calls of nocturnal creatures, and the occasional snap of a twig underfoot. The path ahead was narrow and winding, forcing us to move in single file, with Lily leading the way.
After what felt like hours, the cave Lily had mentioned came into view, a dark, yawning mouth in the side of a moss-covered hill. The entrance was partially hidden by overgrown vines and thick underbrush, making it almost invisible to the casual observer. We ducked inside, and the temperature dropped noticeably, the cool, damp air enveloping us like a shroud. The cave was surprisingly spacious, with a high ceiling that echoed our footsteps as we ventured further in.
Lily set down my bag and immediately began gathering kindling for a fire, her movements quick and efficient. I watched her as she worked, unable to shake the feeling that there was something otherworldly about her. Despite her petite frame, she moved with a precision and grace that spoke of years spent surviving in the wild. Her hands were steady and sure as she arranged the twigs and branches, and within minutes, she had a small fire crackling to life.
As the flames grew, casting flickering shadows on the cave walls, I couldn't help but study her more closely. Her face, illuminated by the firelight, seemed both young and ancient, with eyes that held secrets I couldn't begin to fathom. There was a quiet strength in her, a resilience that I envied.
"Why are you helping me?" I asked finally, breaking the silence that had settled between us.
She paused, looking up from her task, her eyes meeting mine with an intensity that made me shiver. "Because you need it," she said simply. "And because I’ve been where you are."
I frowned, not understanding. "Where I am?"
She nodded, her expression softening. "Lost. Angry. Searching for something you can’t quite name."
Her words hit closer to home than I cared to admit. I looked away, the weight of the night's events pressing down on me once more. The memories of the fire, the screams, and the feeling of helplessness washed over me, and I had to fight to keep my composure.
"You don’t have to do this alone," she continued, her voice gentle but firm. "Whatever it is you’re searching for, it’s out there. But you won’t find it by tearing yourself apart."
I didn’t know what to say, the truth of her words cutting through my defenses. For the first time in a long while, I felt a glimmer of hope. Perhaps she was right. Perhaps there was a way forward that didn’t involve self-destruction.
"Get some rest," she said, her tone softening even further. "We have a long journey ahead of us."
I nodded, lying down on the cool ground, using my bag as a makeshift pillow. The fire's warmth was comforting, and the sound of the crackling flames was soothing. As I closed my eyes, exhaustion finally overtaking me, I couldn't help but feel that maybe, just maybe, I wasn't as alone as I thought.
Tumblr media
I couldn't see past the smoke. It was a roiling, black mass, punctuated by brilliant yellow flames that danced like demons in the night. Shiloh's voice cut through the chaos, a desperate cry reaching out through the suffocating darkness, pleading for me to return. Inside, the screams were a cacophony of terror and anguish, and I ran, my small feet pounding the earth as I shouted for Auntie. Shiloh's cries grew louder behind me, but I ignored her, driven by a singular need to reach the cottage. I had to get to Aldara.
The distance stretched endlessly, the screams crescendoed, and Shiloh's voice became an unbearable buzz in my ears. I was sobbing, calling Aldara's name, feeling the forest around me weep. The spirits that had once tormented me now seemed my only solace, and I crumpled to the ground. No matter how desperately I tried, the cottage remained out of reach. Then, from the corner of my eye, I saw it—a movement that made my breath catch.
There it was, not even ten yards away—a large, midnight-black wolf with eyes like burning coals. The firelight cast a grotesque glow on its face, revealing a blood-stained muzzle. In its mouth was an arm, the ring on it gleaming malevolently. Anger surged within me, turning my vision red as I focused on the ring—a skull etched in fiery orange and yellow. Before I could stop myself, I was chanting a spell, my voice echoing through the forest. Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howled in response.
The wolf dropped the arm and snarled, its eyes locked on mine. The air crackled with energy, the spell building inside me, threatening to tear me apart from the inside out. The wolf lunged, and I screamed, the spell bursting forth in a torrent of raw power. The ground shook, the trees groaned, and the wolf was thrown back, its body slamming into a tree with a sickening crunch.
I collapsed, the spell having drained every ounce of strength from my body. The forest fell silent, the only sound my ragged breathing. I crawled towards the cottage, my limbs trembling, my vision swimming. The smoke began to clear, and I could see the outline of the cottage through the haze.
Aldara lay on the ground, her body limp, her face pale. I reached her side, my hands shaking as I tried to rouse her. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked at me, a weak smile playing on her lips.
"You did it," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the crackling flames. "You saved us."
I nodded, tears streaming down my face. The forest had fallen silent, the spirits watching us with a newfound respect. I had faced the darkness and emerged victorious, but at what cost?
As the first light of dawn broke through the trees, I held Aldara close, the weight of the night's events settling on my shoulders. The forest might have been our home, but it was also a place of danger and despair. And I knew, deep down, that this was only the beginning.
But then everything started to change. The flames flickered and became stars in a velvet sky. The trees twisted and turned, transforming into towering figures that whispered secrets in a language I couldn’t understand. Shiloh's voice turned into a soft lullaby, and the ground beneath me felt like the softest bed I had ever known.
Aldara’s form began to shimmer and fade, her features blurring as if she were being drawn away by an unseen hand. "You must go," she said, her voice echoing like a distant melody. "This world is not for you."
I tried to hold on to her, but my hands passed through her like smoke. The stars above began to swirl, forming a spiral that pulled me upwards, away from the forest, away from the cottage. I was weightless, floating, the screams and flames and shadows all fading into a soft, gentle darkness.
I awoke with a start, the remnants of the dream slipping away like shadows at dawn. The morning light streamed through the cave entrance, illuminating the damp stone walls and casting eerie shapes that danced in the corners of my vision. I lay there, struggling to piece together the fragments of a nightmare that felt all too real. But no matter how hard I tried, the details eluded me, leaving only a lingering sense of unease and the whisper of a name.
"You okay?" Lily's voice broke through the fog, soft yet insistent. I blinked, shaking off the last vestiges of the dream. The cool, damp air of the cave was a grounding contrast to the surreal horrors still echoing in my mind.
"Yeah," I replied, my voice hoarse. "Just a bad dream."
Lily studied me, her eyes narrowing slightly as if she could see through my flimsy facade. But she didn’t press the issue. Instead, she handed me a piece of bread and some dried fruit, which I accepted gratefully.
"We should get moving soon," she said, her tone matter-of-fact. "The sooner we leave, the better our chances of staying ahead."
I nodded, chewing slowly as my thoughts lingered on the dream, the name echoing like a distant drumbeat in my mind.
We packed up quickly, the remnants of the fire reduced to ashes that Lily expertly scattered with her foot. Outside, the forest was waking up, the early morning light filtering through the leaves and casting a soft, golden glow on everything. Birds chirped, and small creatures rustled in the underbrush, weaving a tapestry of normalcy that stood in stark contrast to the turmoil roiling inside me.
As we began to walk, the path ahead seemed clearer, more defined. It was as if the forest itself was guiding us, the trees parting just enough to show the way. I fell into step behind Lily, my thoughts drifting back to her words from the night before: lost, angry, searching for something you can't quite name.
"Can I ask you something?" I ventured after a while, breaking the silence.
"Sure," Lily replied, not turning around, her attention focused on the path ahead.
"Why are you going east?"
She hesitated, tension knotting in her shoulders. "I’m trying to find my daughter," she said finally, her voice low. "We got separated when the incursion started up north. I have some friends in Ozryn who might know where to find her."
"I'm sorry," I said, not knowing what else to offer. The weight of loss was something I understood all too well. “I hope she’s alright.”
"I’m sure she is," Lily continued, her voice softening. "I don’t like being away from her, but I know she can take care of herself. I’m just being cautious with the elves in the area."
“I’ll help you find her,” I promised, a sudden surge of determination filling me. “Once I’ve done what I came here to do.”
Lily chuckled, a sound tinged with both gratitude and disbelief. “Thanks, kid. But I don’t think we’ll need your help. Tinka can’t hide from me.”
“But I’m indebted to you,” I insisted. “It’s the least I can do.”
“You’re assisting me during my journey. You don’t have a debt as long as you do that magic thing and slice and dice whatever gets in our way.”
We walked in silence for a while, the forest around us providing a comforting backdrop to our shared grief. There was something about being in nature that made the pain more bearable, as if the trees and the earth could absorb some of the sorrow that threatened to overwhelm us.
After a few hours, we reached a clearing with a small stream gurgling through it. The water was crystal clear, the gentle sound of it flowing over the rocks soothing my frayed nerves. We stopped to rest, filling our water bottles, the cool water a welcome relief against the weight of our thoughts.
As I splashed some on my face, the chill sent a jolt of clarity through me, a reminder that life continued to flow, regardless of the chaos that swirled around us. And for a brief moment, I felt the edges of my turmoil soften, blending into the rhythm of the world around us.
As we sat by the stream, the water rushing over smooth stones like whispered secrets, Lily reached into her pack and pulled out a small, leather-bound book. She began writing in it with a pen unlike any I had ever seen—a sharp blade at the end, glimmering as it danced across the page without needing a drop of ink.
“Why are you going to the mountains?” she asked, her voice carrying an edge of curiosity.
“I’m looking for someone,” I replied, staring at the water’s surface, its reflections shifting like memories just out of reach. “Someone important to me said I needed to find her.”
“Let me guess,” Lily sighed, her tone a blend of weariness and knowing. “Naida?”
“How did you…?”
“She’s the only thing out there worth hunting down,” the hybrid drawled, pulling her hood down to reveal ears the color of rust, tipped in black, and hair that cascaded like ink down her shoulders. “Must be needing Khione. Do you know what for?”
I cleared my throat, the words heavy with significance. “I’m trying to get extra help in the south. I was told they might be able to assist us.”
Lily laughed, but it was a humorless sound, tinged with bitterness. “Naida might. Khione? I doubt it. That old bitch doesn’t do anything except fuck the little whores she keeps in her castle while my friends starve in those mountains.”
I stared at her, taken aback by the rawness of her words, the pain wrapped around them like a vine. “That’s quite a reputation she has.”
Lily’s expression hardened, the air thickening with her disdain. “Reputation? It’s the truth. Khione has power, sure, but it comes with a price. She doesn’t help anyone unless there’s something in it for her. If you’re seeking aid, you’d better be prepared to pay dearly for it.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, a knot of anxiety tightening in my stomach.
Lily leaned back against a tree, her gaze drifting to the rushing water, as if searching for answers in its depths. “She’s got a knack for making deals that trap you. You think you’re getting help, but it’s usually a trap. You could end up worse off than before.”
I let her words sink in, the implications wrapping around my mind like a cold fog. “So, what do you suggest? Just forget about it?”
“No,” she said, her voice firm, slicing through my doubts. “I’m just saying to be cautious. If you really think Naida can help, go to her. But if Khione is involved… just be ready for anything.”
“What do you know about Naida?” I pressed, desperate for any insight that might illuminate my path.
“She’s a force to be reckoned with,” Lily replied, her tone shifting slightly, like the wind before a storm. “A protector of the mountains, they say. If anyone can help us, it might be her. But she’s not easily found, and even harder to convince. You’ll need to prove yourself worthy of her time.”
I nodded, determination battling with trepidation in my chest. “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
Lily studied me for a moment, her expression softening. “I believe you. Just remember, you’re not alone in this. We’ll figure it out together.”
“Together,” I echoed, warmth spreading through me at the reassurance. It was comforting to know I had someone by my side who understood the stakes.
We resumed our journey, the path growing steeper as we ventured deeper into the forest. The sun climbed higher, casting dappled shadows on the ground, and the air was thick with the scent of pine and earth—invigorating yet heavy with the weight of our conversations.
As we navigated the terrain, our topic shifted to lighter matters, and I found myself laughing at Lily’s sarcastic quips about the creatures of the forest. Her spirit was contagious, and the laughter felt good, a welcome reprieve from the tension that had settled in my bones.
Eventually, we reached a vantage point overlooking a vast expanse of mountains in the distance. The peaks were shrouded in mist, an ethereal quality lending them an almost otherworldly presence. I could almost feel the pull of Khione’s castle lurking somewhere among them, a siren’s call promising both danger and salvation—a promise that felt too heavy to bear.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long, creeping shadows across the ground, we stumbled upon another cave. This one was smaller, cozier, and had a natural chimney that promised to keep the night’s chill at bay. The entrance was framed by thick vines and moss, giving it an almost hidden quality, like a secret the forest had kept for itself. As we stepped inside, the air was cool and damp, a welcome relief from the heat of the day, and soon we had a fire crackling to life, its flickering light casting playful shadows against the damp stone walls.
Settled by the fire, I pulled out the remnants of our meager supplies while Lily rummaged through her pack. The warmth enveloped us, creating an intimate cocoon as we prepared a simple meal from what little we had left. The aroma of the dried meat she had brought wafted into the air, mixing with the earthy scent of the cave.
“You’re a vegetarian?” Lily laughed, a sound rich with amusement that echoed around us, almost like a melody bouncing off the walls.
“Yes. Do you have any nuts?” I replied, attempting to keep my tone casual despite the slight twist of discomfort in my stomach at the thought of what she might offer.
Lily shook her head, still chuckling. “That won’t keep you healthy, little one. Have some rabbit. I killed it yesterday.”
Her words hung in the air like a challenge. I recoiled as she brought the dried meat closer, the odor hitting me like a wave of something unpleasant—savage and primal. “Ugh,” I flinched away, my face contorting in distaste.
Her laughter deepened, a hearty sound that seemed to vibrate within the cave’s very stones. “Don’t make that face,” she teased, her voice rich with mirth. “I have a pack of nuts and mushrooms in my bag.”
I caught the bag she tossed my way, the soft thud of it landing in my hands almost comforting. “Thanks,” I said, rifling through the contents. “You know, not everyone can be a barbarian like you.”
“Barbarian?” she replied, raising an eyebrow, a smirk dancing on her lips. “Just because I prefer my meals with a bit more substance doesn’t make me a barbarian.”
“Sure, whatever you say,” I replied, rolling my eyes as I munched on a handful of nuts, their earthy taste grounding me. “But seriously, rabbit? Did you have to?”
Lily chuckled again, the firelight illuminating her features with a warm glow, casting playful shadows on her face. “You’re too soft. A little meat might toughen you up.”
“I’m plenty tough,” I shot back, more defensively than I intended. “I just don’t see the need to eat something that was hopping around yesterday.”
“Oh, I see. You’re a sensitive soul, aren’t you?” Her sarcasm dripped like honey, thick and sweet, teasing at my vulnerabilities.
“Just practical,” I countered, crossing my arms as I met her gaze. “I like my food to be, you know, not staring at me with big, sad eyes.”
Lily laughed again, a rich, genuine sound that resonated off the cave walls. “You’re a riot. Alright, sensitive soul, eat your nuts. I’ll enjoy my rabbit.” She leaned back against the cave wall, her posture relaxed yet ready.
I shook my head, unable to suppress a smile. “One day, you’ll see the benefits of a vegetarian diet.”
“Doubtful,” she said, a playful challenge in her eyes. “But hey, I’ll give you this—you’ve got guts. I like that.”
“Thanks, I guess,” I replied, feeling an unexpected sense of camaraderie despite our bickering. “I could say the same about you.”
“Oh, you’re just full of compliments tonight,” she quipped, mock bowing as if accepting an award. “What did I do to deserve such praise?”
I laughed, the tension of the day easing like the fire’s warmth. “Just being you, I suppose.”
“Well, aren’t you sweet,” she said, though her eyes sparkled with warmth, a glimmer of something deeper beneath the surface. For a fleeting moment, it felt like we were both trying to shield ourselves from the weight of the world outside, a world filled with uncertainty and danger.
We settled into a comfortable silence, the crackling fire providing a soothing backdrop to our thoughts. Despite the teasing, there was an ease between us, a shared understanding that felt almost sacred in the dim light of the cave. She reminded me of a blend of Cordelia and Thelma—strong yet nurturing, the kind of ally you wished for in times of darkness.
As I lay down to sleep, the flickering flames began to blur into shadows, and a sense of peace washed over me—something I hadn’t felt in far too long. The nightmare from the night before felt like a distant echo, a whisper that faded with the growing warmth of the fire. I found comfort in the knowledge that whatever challenges awaited, I wouldn’t have to face them alone.
I glanced at Lily, illuminated by the firelight, her features softening as she lost herself in thought. There was a hint of sorrow in the lines around her mouth, a weathered quality I hadn’t fully appreciated until this moment. Her eyes were distant, reflecting something that felt ancient and haunting, as if they held stories of their own.
“Didn’t anyone ever tell you that swearing is rude?” she barked suddenly, her gaze flicking to me with playful accusation.
I closed my eyes, feeling a flush of embarrassment. “Once or twice.”
“Sleep, little one. I’ll try to keep your nightmares away.” Her tone was softer now, as if she understood the weight of my weariness.
My eyes snapped back open at her words. Lily noticed my surprise and smiled gently, a transformation that made her appear ten years younger, the burden of her past momentarily lifted.
“You were crying,” she said softly, concern lacing her words.
“I’m sorry,” I mumbled, shame flooding my cheeks, wishing I could pull the memories of my fears back into the depths of my mind.
“I have nightmares, too. One day, I’ll tell you why they haunt me and why they never leave. But for now, let me share how I manage to survive them.”
Lily pulled a band from her wrist and swept her hair into a messy ponytail. The movement highlighted her tall, pointed ears, a feature that now seemed almost majestic in the firelight. I couldn’t help but wonder about the rest of her—a creature born of both human and something wild, a mixture of strength and vulnerability hidden beneath her baggy clothes.
“On bad mornings, it feels impossible to enjoy anything because I’m terrified it could vanish. So, I play a little game: I make a mental list of every act of kindness I’ve witnessed. I just do it over and over again. It gets tedious, but after doing it for so long, you get used to it. There are worse games to play.”
Her words settled between us, a fragile bridge built from shared pain. Whatever shadows haunted her, it was clear she wouldn’t share them tonight. I was too wrapped up in my own swirling thoughts to consider her horrors—too many fears to confront, too many questions I didn’t want to voice. I didn’t think she was hoping for anything from me, anyway; she seemed content to offer her wisdom without demanding answers in return.
“Wake me if you have them,” I whispered into the darkness, feeling a strange sense of connection in the quiet. “I can try my best to keep yours away, too.”
“Thank you. You’re very sweet,” she replied, and her sincerity made my stomach twist with unease; if only she knew how wrong she was.
I rolled over, facing away from her, the warmth of her words lingering in the air like a promise. “Go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow,” she said, her voice fading into the quiet.
Lily hummed softly, but I couldn’t hear her moving around. Giving up on being social, I closed my eyes and willed myself into sleep.
As I drifted further away from consciousness, the last thing I saw was the silhouette of a deer gliding through the trees, its antlers twisted into a heart-like shape against the dusky sky. I lay there, watching the creature as I sank deeper into slumber, just on the brink of nothingness when I felt Lily shuffle closer.
“Idiot forgot about a blanket,” she murmured, and suddenly I was enveloped in warmth, her presence a comforting shield against the unknown that lurked outside the cave.
The warmth wrapped around me like a tender embrace, and I could no longer hold my eyes open. Just before sleep fully claimed me, I felt the stirrings of peace settle into my bones, allowing me to drift away into the safety of dreams—where the forest would guard my heart for just a little while longer.

[2:06am] Yoongi: You up?
You squinted at your phone, reading the message in the dark as the blue light shined on your face. You liked Yoongi; you really did. But more and more, you noticed he’d formed a habit of messaging you late at night. Only at night.
He’d brush you off when you attempted to hang out with him outside of work in the daytime, then later hit you up when it was convenient for him. You were starting to hate him for that and yourself because you let him get away with it.
Well, not tonight, you told yourself. I’m not gonna play that game. You put your phone on DO NOT DISTURB, returned it to your nightstand, and buried yourself in your sheets. You lay in bed feeling empty inside; you liked Yoongi, but you didn’t like this. Feeling so desperate for him all the time it was stupid and embarrassing.
Is that what love is?
You didn’t know. You’d never been in love before. Not really. Sure, you had crushes, mild infatuations, and situationships galore, but nothing like this—not this dull ache in your chest. If what you felt for Yoongi was love, then as much as you hated to admit it, maybe it was unrequited, and Hyuna was right.
Love had to be better than going to bed alone, feeling so cold and numb even though you were covered by a blanket.
You hoped she was wrong.
You wanted to be more to him than a few stolen kisses in the night and a body to hold. But as much as you wanted him to take your relationship seriously—to take you seriously—you could never risk asking him for more. To ask would be to give him all the power, and Yoongi already had enough control over you.
It wasn’t always like this. There used to be a time when you had all Yoongi’s attention.
You were so nervous coming into the club the first time. Back then, you still weren’t fully comfortable with stripping. But you had just started school, and though you already had a job bussing tables, you were still so very broke, and those bills wouldn’t pay themselves.
So you sucked up all your inhibitions and made yourself audition. You don’t know how Yoongi saw you in that crowded room. There were so many girls, certainly some more eye-catching than you, but he managed to catch you in the corner having a minor panic attack.
“You need to breathe.”
“Huh? Sorry, did you say something?” You blinked, taking in the appearance of the handsome stranger before you. On any other day, his intense eyes would have made you swoon. But that day, you were too caught up in your thoughts, worried about the worst possible outcomes of your getting up on stage. It’d been a long time since you danced for anyone besides yourself, and somehow, you were convinced you would mess up. Trip over your heels or forget a part of your routine.
“I said, you need to breathe. You look like you’re holding your breath. Are you that nervous?”
Yes, yes, you were.
You smiled weakly at him, clutching the water bottle in your hands. “I don’t even know what I’m doing here. I don’t think I can do this.” Your eyes flitted towards the exit.
“You’re here now, so you might as well go through with the audition. Don’t stop halfway.”
God, you thought, were you that obvious?
“What if I fuck it up?”
“Then you fuck it up. But that’d still be better than not trying at all.”
You remember being shocked at his response. But the more you thought about it, the more it made sense. Yeah, so what if you fucked it up? You didn’t know these people. Worse scenario, you wouldn’t get in and leave a little embarrassed, but no one would know about your private failure except for this handsome stranger.
You must have taken too long to respond because shortly after his blunt advice, Yoongi apologized.
“Sorry. . . I’m not that good at pep talks.”
“No, it’s okay. I don’t know why, but that actually helped.”
Yoongi’s eyes widened. Just a bit. Just enough for you to know your response surprised him. “Uh, good. You’ll be fine.”
“Thanks,” you said. Then thoughtfully, you wondered out loud, “Why are you being so nice to me??”
You couldn’t believe some guy was talking you down from your anxiety attack in a strip club. What was his agenda? Did he expect something from you?
“Why not?”
You opened your mouth to question that logic when you heard your name called. Your stage name. It was your turn to audition next. You glanced up at the stage before you, the black velvet curtain in the background, soft pink and white lights setting the mood, guiding your eyes to the catwalk in the middle. And on that center stage, those same lights highlight the silver pole in the middle.
Just looking at it made you gulp. Even though you were no stranger to the spotlight, having been a dancer, this new venture was awfully intimidating.
Strange enough, you found yourself looking towards the kind stranger—for what? Words of encouragement?—but he offered you none. Just a lazy smile as he nodded towards the stage for you to dance.
Truly, you don’t remember how the audition went. You were too nervous, too full of adrenaline to recall if you did well and if your movements were graceful and sexy rather than stiff and awkward. What you remembered was the conversation that followed, what you could make out of the hushed voices huddled together to decide your fate.
You strained to hear them over the thump of your racing heartbeat.
The first man to speak still seemed to be in thought as he stated his opinion. “I’m undecided. She doesn’t really seem like the type. . . I can’t imagine her sticking around for long.” He turned to the other judges in the room, “What do you think?”
“I agree with Namjoon,” said a man so pretty you could have mistaken him for a girl. “Technically, she’s a great dancer, but she’s lacking major confidence.”
Finally, the woman spoke. “Well, I like her. I think she’s got a lot of potential. Everyone grows into it anyway; give her a chance.”
Even with that vote of confidence, the group leader still seemed unsure. He turned to look over his shoulder to the man in the audience you spoke to earlier, the one you gave your whole performance to as you swayed on stage under sultry lights. “What do you think, Yoongi?”
At last, you had a name to put to the face of the handsome stranger. His dark eyes held no hint or indication that he favored you, and if his body language was anything to go off of, you were sure it wouldn’t be a good thing based on the way he slouched in his seat, arms crossed over his chest.
But then he spoke, a slow grin pulling over his face that put all your nerves at ease.
“I couldn’t keep my eyes off her.”
That was how it started. At the time, Namjoon, Jimin, and Hyuna were strangers to you. You had no idea the club owner and their two most favored dancers were in the room with you deciding your fate. Yoongi gave them his vote of confidence and sealed your fate. You started work later that week.
After you were hired, you were always aware of his presence at the club. You could feel his gaze follow you on stage, at the bar, always that cool, calm smolder. And the attraction was mutual. You constantly watched him in the booth, amused by his natural gift for music. There are so many shows you put on just for him. It was a crush, simple as that. You wanted him, but you were much too shy to say it. Thankfully, Yoongi was brave enough for both of you, asking you out after your first week.
The date was a pleasant surprise. Despite Yoongi’s introverted nature, he actually took you to dinner and made conversation at first, none of that Netflix and chill bullshit. His calm, quiet demeanor was infinitely attractive to you, and you found yourself mooning over him the whole night.
You hadn’t planned on fucking him, honestly.
But it’d been a while since anyone had touched you like that. So when Yoongi’s gravelly voice whispered in your ear, asking you to tell him how you wanted it, how you needed it, as his fingers rubbed sweet circles on your clit, all you could do was whine and tell him how badly your body wanted him with a desperation that couldn’t wait. You needed him right then and there.
The next morning, you woke up and swore it wouldn’t happen again.
But, of course, it did.
Again, and again, and again.
So here you were, stuck inside a situationship you didn’t want but one you always succumbed to. And tonight seemed no different.
Closing your eyes, you will yourself to go back to sleep, and you do for a little while. Until a pounding sound woke you up. You barely registered it as a knock the first time, but after two or three times, you dragged yourself out of bed and to your front door.
You had half a mind to reach for the bat you keep in the hall closet, just in case. It was an ungodly hour, and you lived alone (times like these made you regret not getting a roommate). You checked the peephole first, then sighed. Irritation rose in your blood.
You unlocked the door and snatched it open. “What are you doing here?”
“Don’t act so surprised. You were giving me puppy dog eyes all night. You really think I wouldn’t show up?”
You can’t tell if the anger surfacing is from your lack of sleep, the scare, or the fact that Yoongi is standing on your doorstep. It’s probably a combination of all three. “It’s two in the morning,” you said pointedly.
Yoongi isn’t phased by your grumbly voice or sharp tone. He shrugs and moves to step inside, but you block his path.
“Absolutely not. I’m going back to bed.”
“You’re mad.”
He didn’t say it like a question, but you could tell by the lilt in his voice he seemed surprised.
You scowled into the dark. “You can’t do this, Yoongi. Pick and choose when to show up.” Pick and choose when he could be in your life, when you mattered to him.
You motioned to close the door, but Yoongi stopped you, sticking his hand in the frame. And then he did something that made you pause. He reached for you, placed his hands on your waist, and pulled you close.
Shit.
Yoongi pulled you in like the tide. It was always eb and flow with him. When he did things like that. . . You couldn’t help but give in. You were weak for this, for his touch, for the moments when he wanted you. So when Yoongi swept in close, body heat coming off him in waves as his hand reached up to cup the back of your neck, you leaned into the embrace.
“I know I’m late,” he said, kissing the corner of your mouth. He nuzzled into your neck, sneaking kisses on your collarbones.
“Let me make it up to you.”
“Yoongi. . .” You started, coming to your senses for just a minute. But before you could protest, he interrupted you with a kiss. Any resolve you might have had left your body once his lips found yours. It was so easy to lose yourself in Yoongi. His kisses were fire, all-consuming, wild. You could never get enough. Yoongi licked into your mouth, and you moaned, stumbling back into your apartment.
And just like that, you crumbled.
You let him lead you to the bedroom, shrugging off his clothes, his mouth never leaving yours. You felt your knees hit the back of something soft and sat down on your bed while Yoongi kissed you stupid. You let him touch and, tease and pull you apart. Till the pleasure overtakes the pain in your chest. And it’s good, so good. Good enough to make you forget why you were even upset in the first place.
He inches you forward with kisses and bites—marks you know will leave a hickey—till your back hits the headboard, momentarily breaking you from his spell.
“Wait,” you said, eyelids fluttering open.
But Yoongi’s hands are already sliding up your nightgown, leaving wet kisses down your thighs.
And then there was the solid feel of his hands spreading your legs apart, lips dangerously close to where you needed him most.
He hooked a finger under the waistband of your lace underwear, pulling the material off.
“You were saying?” said Yoongi, and you shivered as his breath fanned over you.
Honestly, you couldn’t remember. You lost every coherent thought your brain was trying to form. All you could think about was his touch, his thumb on your clit, the feel of him stroking you gently. You were so, so wet.
And he knew it. You could feel Yoongi smile against you as he rested his cheek on your thigh, long slender fingers working over you until all you could do was tilt your head back and sigh.
“I love playing with your pussy.” He whispered, voice just above a purr.
His words made you throb. “Yoongi,” you moaned, his name a desperate plea on your tongue.
“What?” He answered, voice smug, “What do you need?”
Too embarrassed to say the words out loud, to admit just how badly you need him, you reached down, sliding a hand into his hair, tugging at his locks to pull him right where you wanted him.
Yoongi chuckled. “So impatient.” But he didn’t move his head from between your thighs. Instead, he leaned forward, licking a stripe up your center before rolling his tongue around your clit.
You couldn’t help but lean into the action, hips tilting up to catch the sensation. But Yoongi was having none of that. He brought up a hand, pushing one palm against your belly to press you down into the mattress, while the other caressed your thigh.
“Behave,” he said, the dominance radiating through his voice. It’s the only warning you get before he nips at your clit, drawing out a sharp cry from you, the pain mixing with pleasure. Before you could even respond, Yoongi lapped at your folds, tongue making a mess out of you.
You let yourself get lost in the sensation as Yoongi buried his head between your thighs, devouring your whole. You’re too far gone to stop the whimper that spilled from your mouth. All you felt were stars as his tongue curled around your clit, languid licks driving you closer and closer to the edge.
Yoongi knew your body like it was his. He memorized every shiver and shudder, every move that turned you on. He could hear your heavy breath, feel the tremble in your thigh, and know exactly how to push you over the edge.
So he does it, sliding two fingers deep inside you to press against the spot that made your body taunt with pleasure. The pressure of his palm against your belly, his hot tongue flicking against you, his fingers curling deep—it’s overwhelming.
Chest heaving, you called out his name, a plea and a warning all at once. You were so, so close.
Cum for me,” Yoongi rasped, voice vibrating against you, and that’s all it takes for you to fall.
You climax, pleasure rushing all through your body, blanking your mind, curling your toes. Your hands fist in Yoongi’s hair, once again tugging at his locks. Only this time, Yoongi didn’t stop your pleasure but doubled it, replacing his fingers with his tongue to delve inside and taste every drop of your release, stopping only when your thighs shake, the sensation becomes too much.
When you finally came back down and caught your breath, Yoongi lifted his head and met your gaze with a smirk. “Did I make it up to you yet? Or should I apologize again?”
Though you’d been satisfied, Yoongi ‘apologized’ twice more for good measure before laying you on your side and pulling you against his chest. Cold as he appeared, Yoongi defied all fuckboy logic and was quite fond of aftercare and cuddles. Thirty minutes later, he still laid beside you in bed, naked body flush against your skin.
These were the moments you treasured the most. Pos-coital bliss, where you could pretend, if only for one second, that you were something more than strangers who sometimes shared beds.
But they also made you the most confused. Because, here in his arms, it felt like more than friends, more than sex. But did he think that, too?
So many nights you spent just like this, trying to convince yourself that this was good enough, that you were comfortable living in this in-between state. But that was then, and this is now, and it’s not enough.
And now you know it never was.
“Yoongi?” you said, turning in his arms so you’re face to face.
“What,” he grumbled back, voice thick with sleep. It’s a sound you’re all too familiar with, one you’ve let lull you into a stupor time and time again. He leaned down to kiss you, but you placed a hand on his chest, keeping him away.
“What are we doing?”
It’s a question you’d always been too afraid to ask, but now that it was the only thing on your mind, you couldn’t stop yourself from blurting it out.
Yoongi scoffed. “Sleeping?” He nipped at the sweet spot on your neck, “Unless you’re up for another round.”
“Yoongi, I need—”
He licked a stripe up your neck, scrambling your thoughts. “What? What do you need?” He said, voice husky. It’s enough to make you moan but not enough to distract you from your racing thoughts.
I need to know what this is. I need to know where I stand with you. I need—
“More than this.”
“I’m serious. What are we doing? What. . . what are we?”
You said it. The thing you’re not supposed to say, and it made you feel sick to your stomach.
You shouldn’t—it’s not as if it’s some forbidden phrase, but the words weighed heavy in the air. You’re going places you’ve never gone with Yoongi, putting all your cards on the table. It’s risky. No one wants to be the one who cares most, but you do. And you know you’re not supposed to. You know you can’t say that you want more. That you want love. That somehow, this unspoken arrangement isn’t what you needed any more. You needed to know if he felt anything for you in return, and you needed to know now.
It was quiet for a minute before you finally said, unable to stop yourself from masking the vulnerability in your voice: “I like you.”
“I like you too,” said Yoongi. There was no weight to his words. He said it so quickly, so easily, that it stunned you.
Maybe a little too easy.
“So what does that mean for us?” you said, sitting up in bed, more awake now than ever.
Yoongi froze. “Us?”
“Yeah, is there an us?” You can’t seem to say what you really mean; the words hover around the truth of your real desires, that you want a relationship. It’s obvious, isn’t it? “Because if it’s not, if you can’t see this being real, then I don’t think I can do this anymore. I might take a break.”
He has to know what you mean. . .Do you really have to spell it out?
But apparently, you do because Yoongi glosses over the true meaning of your words entirely. “Can we talk about this in the morning? I’m tired. I don’t want to fight right now.”
He reached for you, his hand slipping up your thigh and rubbing small circles with his thumb. The touch is soothing, but your mind is still whirling. Still trying to connect the dots from what he said, what it meant, and what you heard.
“I don’t want to fight right now.”
Why does the question of choosing me have to be a fight?
It’s this thought that makes it all clear. It’s not a fight. Yoongi knows the question you’re asking. He just doesn’t want to answer.
You opened your mouth to say as much, but you’re tired, too. Tired of this bullshit. The ease with which Yoongi dismissed your needs time and time again. You don’t have the strength to plead your case, and you shouldn’t have to, really.
You laid back down with you back towards him, nodding your head in agreement even as you shoved your disappointment down deep.
As if sensing your frustration, Yoongi wordlessly consoled you. He trailed kisses down your body. Each kiss, a tiny apology. At the top of your head. Sorry. By your jaw, sorry. The dip between your neck and shoulder. Sorry.
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Despite yourself, you lean into the embrace. Yoongi didn’t always have the right words to say, but he always had the right touch. Still, a part of you starved for a deeper affection, a part that even Yoongi’s touch couldn’t reach.
. . .
In the morning, you woke up to the shining sun, aching limbs, and an empty bed.
Yoongi wasn’t beside you, and the loss of his touch stirred you from your sleep as the loneliness crept back in. You know there’s no note for you to or an explanation to where he’s gone, so you don’t bother checking. Instead, you roll over to your side, clumsily fumbling around for your phone on the nightstand.
You open your eyes with a sigh, blurred vision trying to make sense of the digits on the screen reading 9:02am when everything clicks into space with startling clarity. Your entrepreneurship class started at nine.
Shit.
“Late! I’m late!” You shouted, hopping out of bed and throwing on a T-shirt and jeans. No doubt, you look a mess, but you didn’t have time to worry about appearance. You could not be late; this course was one of the hardest in your major. You couldn’t afford to miss any class and pass, and if you flunked out, you’d have to wait another two semesters before it’d be offered again. That was time you simply didn’t have. It’d put you way behind your schedule to graduate on time with your degree, and you couldn’t afford to waste more time in school.
It’s the desperation that has you rushing down the hall to your classroom, tired and out of breath after sprinting from the parking garage into the building. You’re flustered, sweaty, and way too embarrassed to make eye contact with your professor as you enter the room, only bowing your head in apologies as your eyes scan the room for a seat.
Mia flagged you down in the corner of the room, and you slid into the desk next toher. “I saved you a spot,” she whispered, careful not to raise her voice above the steady drone of your professor’s lecture about starting a new business.
“Thanks,” you said, eternally grateful to have made a friend in this class. Mia was a school friend who, through late-night study sessions and lunch breaks, was slowly becoming a real friend, too. If only you didn’t have more time on campus, you’d probably be best friends by now, but between working for two jobs and school, your schedule was always full.
“We’ll dive deeper into identifying your target customer base next week.”
When the lecture ended thirty minutes later, you pulled Mia outside the classroom. “Hey, thanks again for saving me a seat. Can I borrow your notes from earlier?”
“Of course.” You thanked her as she pulled out her notebook and handed it over.
“No problem. Where were you this morning? I thought we were supposed to catch up before class.”
You forgot about that. “Uh, sorry. I overslept. Rain check?”
“Sure. I have a class until 3, but after that I’m free. You wanna grab dinner tonight?”
You wince, knowing you’ll have to turn her down once again. “I’d love that. I really would, but I’ve gotta—“
“Work, right. Of course.”
“Sorry, Mia.”
“Look. I get it you’re busy. But I feel like I never see you these days.”
You can’t help but feel guilty knowing she’s right. You have been all over the place this semester. Your social life was definitely suffering for it.
“And when I do, you see, you’re basically running around campus looking like a total mess.”
Ouch. When she puts it like that. . .
Mia must have read the hurt look on your face cuz she quickly backtracked. “I don’t mean to sound harsh. I’m just worried about you, ya know?”
You know she’s right, but it still made you feel like crap to hear your friend chide you like this. You know you’ve been distant, but were you really that bad?
“And I miss my friend,” she added, squeezing your hand.
At this admission, you relax, understanding where she’s coming from. “I know. Today’s not great, but I promise I’ll make it up to you, okay?” You looked down at your phone, checking the time. Now you were going to be late for your next class, too. “I gotta run, but we’ll talk later?”
Mia nodded. You hugged her before hauling ass across campus to your next class.
. . .
“Do you know what an embarrassment you are to this family?”
Seokjin sighed, slumping in his seat. His father slapped the newspaper onto his desk so hard it’s a wonder the glass didn’t crack under his palm. It took all of his strength not to wince at the title:
Billionaire Playboy Caught At An Infamous Strip Club.
“I didn’t choose to go there. Taehyung and Namjoon took me out—“
“I don’t care what Taehyung and Namjoon do. They can destroy their families’ reputations if they want to. But you are my son. I won’t have you tarnishing my reputation. You think you deserve to run this company after a stunt like that?”
At this, Seokjin rolled his eyes. “I don’t think I deserve anything. I’ve never wanted this company,” he said.
“You ungrateful piece of shit.”
Seokjin meant what he said, but he wasn’t ungrateful. Inheriting his father’s million-dollar diamond corporation was never part of his interest. “You should hand over your company to the child who wants to run it. Sohee would—“
“Sohee doesn’t have what it takes to run my company.”
Translation: Sohee wasn’t a man. And Seokjin’s sexist father would never give her the chance she deserved to take over the family business. Even though she was the progeny most naturally suited for the job.
His father waved away the idea. “Enough of this talk of Sohee. You will inherit the family business. It’s time you stopped acting like a child. Have you forgotten your responsibilities? After your wedding to Mei, our company will expand. You’ll have no time for these foolish endeavors.
How could he possibly forget? Between the tabloids and the endless, frivolous meetings crammed into his schedule to decide what color goes best with the tablecloths or what dish should be served for the twelfth-course meal, he hasn’t been able to escape any thoughts of the wedding as much as he’d wanted to.
Seokjin met Mei under duress six months ago with the intention of their union expanding the company into the Chinese market. And though their families held a long-standing relationship with each other—they were practically strangers. He had no feelings for her, and their relationship was strictly business, to his chagrin.
Seokjin didn’t want to get married—let alone to someone he barely knew. But the decision wasn’t up to him. As with everything else in his life, his father made all the decisions. Every school, every job, and every opportunity was already picked out for him before Seokjin could even utter the word ‘no. Nothing was ever a choice.
He hated his father. For his cruelty and selfish ways, his blatant disregard for others, his children’s wishes, and the control he had over Seokjin’s life.
“As a matter of fact, I have an important business dinner with her father this evening—you will attend.”
“Of course, not like I had any plans.” Said Seokjin, smiling sweetly, but his eyes held malice.
His father cut him a look and opened his mouth for what Seokjin was sure would be a good cussing out, only for his father to explode into a coughing fit. The bastard was sick, but unfortunately for Seokjin, not ill enough to die. Just enough for his father to retire early and order him to take over, crushing any dream he had of escaping his legacy.
His father cleared his throat. “I expect you to be on your best behavior and impress him, boy. But don’t be a fucking kiss ass. Remember, you represent the Kim name. Show me you are not a complete disappointment as my heir. You can do at least that, can’t you?”
Seokjin grit his teeth, swallowing down his anger. He hated his father for his relentless demands, but he also hated himself.
Because despite resenting it all, Seokjin always did as he was told.
. . .
[4:34pm] Sunshine Boss: I have something for you :)
[4:34pm] Sunshine Boss: I know you’re off tonight, but you should stop by and pick it up. I think you’ll be satisfied with the gift.
You look up from your phone, stopping midway in your tracks. It’d be risky, but you could squeeze in some time to stop by the club before heading to your other job.
Jeongguk winked at you as you walked up to Paradise. You smile at him as he holds the door open for you, shaking your head at his endless flirting. It always amused you that he was the club bouncer when the kid was a little younger than you. But you always felt safer having Jeongguk at the door. You’ve seen firsthand how that sweet bunny smile could fade into a deadly expression. Jeongguk could be very intimidating when he wanted to be, and his muscles weren’t just for show. You felt sorry for anyone who crossed a line at the club and ended up facing off with him.
It doesn’t take you long to find your boss. He’s tucked away in his sleek gray office as usual, typing away on his laptop. He looked polished as ever in a new suit and a crisp white button-down. When you knocked on the door, Hoseok looked up and waved you inside. “Come in.”
“You said you had something for me?” You asked. You were still curious as to why he requested you stop by. Work was work, but Hoseok took your personal lives seriously. He never crossed the line between the two, so you found it odd he reached out.
“I do,” said Hoseok, reaching inside his desk drawer. “Your private session left you a big tip last night. I thought it’d be best if you received it directly.” You watched as he pulled out a fat white envelope and slid it across the desk.
Just looking at it made you raise an eyebrow. Hoseok’s bright eyes gave nothing away as he waved a hand towards the envelope, beckoning you towards it.
Without thinking, you opened the envelope and let out a little gasp of shock at the thick wad of bills inside. Hundred-dollar bills.
“All this is for me?”
“All of it.”
You shifted out a few bills, ready to hand over your expected dues, but Hoseok stopped you with a hand. “You misunderstand. I already have my cut. Everything within that envelope is yours.”
“Are you serious?” You said, unable to hide the shock in your voice. You had enough money in your hands to pay your whole rent for the month and then some. All from one dance.
The sharp angles of Hoseok’s face softened, and he smiled at your disbelief, a dimple showing out. “Clearly, you left a good impression, but I expect nothing less—you’re one of the best.”
You wave away his words, too embarrassed to accept the compliment, thinking about exactly how you won Seokjin’s favor. Just the thought made your heart race. As much as you hated to admit it, your patron wasn’t the only one affected by that last dance.
“I um—I’ve got to go. But thank you for making sure I got this personally.”
“Of course. Before you leave, your gift came with a letter,” said Hoseok, pointing back to his desk.
You don’t know how you missed it at first, but sure enough, another smaller envelope was on the glass with your name handwritten on the front.
“Oh.”
“I think you might have a new regular. Seokjin seems to be very fond of you.”
. . .
Later that afternoon, you pulled up to work, grateful you remembered to stash a bag with clothes in your car. You quickly run to the back, hoping to change into your uniform. But your boss caught you before you could sneak off to the back.
“You’re late,” she hissed.
Yes, that was becoming quite a habit of yours. You ducked your head apologetically, hoping the woman would scold you quickly. “I’m sorry, I was—”
“—I don’t have time for excuses. A high-ranking guest is coming in tonight, so just do your job.”
You don’t miss the pointedness in her tone—no fuck ups tonight.
“Got it,” you said, holding back your grimace as she berated some more before sending you off to change. All you could do was grin and bear it. Even if you didn’t feel like you had it in you to pull on a fake smile and tend to your special guests.
But that was your job as a hostess. It paid well, though sometimes it almost didn’t feel worth it with the snooty customer base you had to face, but between rent and your school tuition, you literally couldn’t afford to be picky.
Even if you didn’t have the energy to put up with these rich assholes, at least you didn’t have to pull a shift at Paradise after this. You just had to pull yourself together for a few hours, and then you could go home.
You change into a little black dress and switch out your sneakers for a pair of tall heels. It wasn’t exactly a ‘uniform’ uniform, but your second job still has a certain look and aesthetic to maintain. The dress hugged your curves in all the right places, and you can’t help but feel eyes on you as you make your way back to the hostess table up front, heels clicking.
Dionysus was in full swing, each white-clothed table crowded and buzzing, and you watched as people clinked glasses under the chandeliers. But at your post, you kept your eye on the empty room in the back.
Whoever your guests were tonight, if they were truly a big deal, you’d escort them to have their meal in that private room.
Once the opening crowd thins out, the evening goes by slowly for you, and before you know it, you’re sneaking a peek at your phone, trying not to keep your boredom at bay.
There were a couple texts from Hyuna and a picture she sent of herself and the girls at Paradise.
[6:15pm] Babygirl: I’m so BORED when you’re not here🥺
[ 6:16pm]You: Sameeee. Don’t have fun without me!
[6:18pm] Babygirl: You know it’s boring when you’re not here! Miss you tonight 💕
You heart the message, missing her too.
Still no messages from Yoongi.
All his silence does is confirm the feeling in your gut and fuel the quiet resolve to make a decision.
You’re so busy ruminating that you don’t even realize you have guests in front of you until someone clears their throat in front of you.
“Act like you have some sense. The reservation for the Kim Corporation is here.”
You shove down your disdain for your boss and put on your best smile, ready to greet your new guests. Only when you look up do you realize it’s not a new guest after all.
Kim Seokjin stood in front of you, handsome as ever. His fringe frames his face, drawing your attention to his dark eyes and immaculate suit. You could tell from the quality of his clothes that it was expensive, but the white button-down left open on his chest said that looking flawless was effortless on his part. His brows furrowed at the sight of you, but then the confusion cleared, and in its place, Seokjin fixed you with a dazzling white smile and said: “It’s you.”
You barely have time to recover from the blow before you fix your smile in place (the one you use strictly for work; polite and friendly) and greet his party.
“Welcome to Dionysus, Mr.Kim. It’s a pleasure to have you dine with us tonight.”
Seokjin blinked at your formal demeanor, not expecting your casual dismissal of his recognition. But you don’t react—you can’t. No one here knew of your other life, and you planned on keeping things this way.
“Please follow me; I’ll direct you towards our private dining experience.” You quickly turned on your heel, walking forward without sparing so much as a second glance towards him. But you can sense his eyes on you, that hot, molten feeling rising in your body as you lead the party toward the back.
When you stopped before the table, Seokjin pulled out the chair closest to your position, trying to address you once more. “It’s nice to see you again.”
You maintain your plastic smile. “You must be mistaken, Sir; we haven’t met. I’ve heard this is your first time visiting Dionysus.”
“You mean to tell me we haven’t met before?”
“I’m afraid not, sir.”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow, but your facade didn’t waver. If anything, your eyes seemed to embolden, daring him to question your professionalism. You’re so calm and cool that if it were anybody else, Seokjin might have believed himself to be mistaken. But he knows he’s not. As if he could forget your face after last night.
So that’s how you wanted to play this? Fine. Two could play that game. He’d get your attention one way or another.
“Excuse me, I have a special request,” asked Seokjin, successfully grabbing your supervisor’s attention. “Your hostess is so lovely. Is there any way that she could tend to our table tonight?.”
Your eyes widen in shock for a split second, not anticipating this outcome. “I’m sorry, I’m not a part of the waitstaff—”
“—Absolutely,” Your boss cut in. “I’m sure (Y/n) would like nothing more than to take care of your party personally.”
At the mention of your name, Jin’s eyes widened. He simply wanted you near, but his request seemed to come with a little gift now that he knew your name.
The realization must have dawned on you simultaneously since the look on your face is a mix of shock and rage. Jin finds the combination amusing, and he can’t keep the satisfied smirk on his lips, knowing he sneakily earned another night with you.
Serves you right for trying to ignore him. Seokjin gave you a look, cocky and full of ego, relaying this very thought.
You wanted to wipe his smug smirk off. Asshole. You haven’t waited tables since your first year in college, and now, because this guy batted his pretty eyes, you’re right back where you started?
Who does this guy think he is?
You’re beyond annoyed, but all you can do is plaster on another fake smile and join the servers at the table. Thankfully, you’d served with everyone working the table before, so getting back into the flow of things was easy.
You fell into step from memory; everything returned to you from years of practice waitressing. You reached past Seokjin to fill his wine glass, and the asshole had the nerve to look up and smile at you.
You smile back, of course, even though you’re silently fuming, but your eyes tell a different story. You let Seokjin see it, all the anger buried underneath the polite mask as you pour.
But Seokjin’s smile didn’t flinch, didn’t falter. You swear his smile only brightened, the grin spreading across his handsome face.
You didn’t realize you had overfilled his glass until you heard the scrap of his chair across the floor when he jumped back from the table.
You were so distracted you poured the wine right into his lap. But he didn’t have to know that. Even though it wasn’t your intention, you’re more than happy to claim the credit for his displeasure.
“My apologies, Sir,” you said with a smirk.
Seokjin glared at you in response. Now that the shock was gone, you had to stifle a laugh behind your hand seeing his pouty face.
Your boss hissed your name, eyeing you with a tilted head at the mess you were in no rush to clean up.
“Let me help you with that,” you sighed. You bent down, picking up a spare napkin off the table. You dipped it in water and mindlessly dabbed at the spill on his suit.
You were already so close before you realized your mistake. You could smell the heated spice of Seokjin’s cologne, and you were just a breath away from that dazzling face. Just as close as you were the first night you met. The memory of it flashes through your mind—the warmth of his palm cupping your cheek like you were his lover. It’s enough to make your breath hitch.
You met his eyes, and the depth of his dark pools told you you weren’t the only one thinking of your first night together. Seokjin’s gaze dipped, looking at your lips as he wet his own.
It’s that small action that brings you back. What were you doing? Surely you weren’t about to kiss the stranger in the middle of a job? Quickly, you removed your hand from his lap, clearing your throat as you backed away.
Your mind felt hazy, and you knew who was to blame. But what you wouldn’t understand was the fact that Seokjin had any effect on you at all.
You knew it wasn’t his status; you often came across rich men in your work. His looks were unparalleled, but you rarely found attraction towards a pretty face last if you hadn’t liked their personality.
And you didn’t like him, right? No. He wasn’t your type at all. Still, you couldn’t deny the pull felt whenever he was in your presence.
For the rest of the night, you completed service for the party away from Kim Seokjin. Dinner went on in a daze. And before you knew it was closing time. The Kim Party stayed the whole night, which was tiring, but the generous tip they left did lighten your spirits as you exited the building.
You’re halfway out the door, eagerly awaiting a night alone in your apartment, when you hear someone call out your name.
“(Y/n).”
It’s Seokjin. You looked up to find him leaning back against a luxury SUV. “Or should I call you Angel? Both names suit you quite well.”
Dammit. In the heat of the moment, you forgot all about your boss giving away your name. If your two lives weren’t crossed over before, they certainly were now.
You’ve half a mind to ignore him and pretend you didn’t hear him in the first place, but ultimately, you decided to deal with it before things get more out of hand.
You walked up towards him. “Look, I’d appreciate it if you kept that name to yourself.”
“Which name?” He teased, eyes glinting at you in the dark. “They’re both very pretty.”
“I mean it. People don’t know about my other job here.”
“So you live a double life? That’s sexy.”
“It’s not as sexy as you think,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s actually really hard, so don’t make it any harder for me.”
Seokjin tilted his head to the side, studying you. You put up a good front, coming up to him acting all demanding. But he could see the vulnerability underneath it all; a part of you was worried.
“I wouldn’t dream of making anything more difficult for you,” he said, earnestly hoping to put your mind at ease. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
“Oh…” You weren’t expecting him to acquiesce so quickly. You honestly thought he’d be the type of jerk to tease you and hold it over your head like earlier. But Seokjin immediately respected your boundary; you didn’t even have to put your foot down.
“Thank you,” you said awkwardly.
“Of course.”
His behavior took you off guard, but you couldn’t lose focus. Your name wasn’t the only reason you approached him.
“Um, also, while you’re here, I’d like to give you this back,” you said, reaching into your bag for the envelope. You help it out for him to take. “Thank you for the tip, but I can’t accept this.”
Seokjin stared at your hand. “That was a gift.”
“It’s too much,” you added as if that held any weight.
“I haven’t to politely disagree. I enjoyed myself, and I value your time. I think the amount reflects that.”
“I can’t accept it.”
“Can’t? Or won’t.”
“Okay, I won’t accept it. Take it back.”
“No.”
“Seokjin.”
“(Y/n).”
“Why are you making this so difficult?”
“Love, you’re the one making this difficult.”
“Look,” you said, frustrated at the conversation. “I’m not in the mood for games. I don’t know what your expectations are. But I’m not that kind of girl.”
Seokjin shook his head. “I’m not following…”
“Well then, let me make it clear to you. I said. I’m not that kind of girl.”
You were all up in his face, eyes full of fire, and Seokjin couldn’t help but like it. For a man in his position, very few people had the confidence to speak to him like that. He at once found it incredibly attractive and entertaining, watching you sass him with your neck craned as he looked down at you.
Clearly, you meant to be intimidating, but all Seokjin could think about was how sexy you looked when you were assertive.
“You didn’t read my letter, did you?”
“The letter is irrelevant; I don’t care how rich you are—you can’t buy me.”
“I think you are mistaken. I’m not trying to buy you, (y/n).”
You didn’t buy it. If there was anything you learned in life, it was that nothing ever came free. There was always a price. And this man came from a world where money ruled supreme.
“Then what do you want?”
You. It was the first thing that entered Seokjin’s mind. The thought took him by surprise. It’d been a while since he felt this attracted to anyone. And he certainly didn’t know what he was doing waiting after dinner to talk to you. Something was there, but he knew better than to voice this new feeling aloud.
Instead, he told a partial truth. “I don’t know,” he said, shrugging. “That night…. I’ve never seen someone move like that. The way you dance...You captivated me. You were like a goddess.”
You wanted to be mad at him. You really did. But you couldn’t help but feel yourself flush at the compliment and the sincerity in his voice. Men flirted with you often. It was a hazard of the job, but not like this. You’ve heard men highlight your body before, but no one ever mentioned the way you dance with awe in their voice, not just lust.
“It’s only natural to give an offering as your patron,” said Seokjin, winking at you.
Your body betrayed you then, a flush that heated you up. Get a grip! You thought. You weren’t some lovesick teen. You were grown. You would not be swayed by some rich asshole’s stupid flirting.
“Well, I don’t need your money. Here,” you said, thrusting it out in front of you. “You can have it back. I don’t want to owe you anything.”
“You don’t owe me. I wanted to give it to you,” said Seokjin, stepping closer to you. “I think you deserve a lot more, to be honest.”
Seokjin placed his hand over yours, firmly keeping the envelope in your grip. “It was a gift. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep it.”
You’re so close Jin could smell you; your skin is warm and sweet, and your perfume was sultry and floral. Seokjin could drown in it. The scent clouded his senses and, clearly, his judgment because he closed what little distance sat between him and you. Here, he had a front row to your beautiful eyes, and those plush lips, and the only thing running through his head was what it would be like to kiss you.
Seokjin looked at you, really looked at you, and this time, he noticed you were not startled. Your pupils are blown, your chest rising quickly—he’d bet anything that whatever it is going on with him, you felt it too.
But again, you pulled away.
You took a step back to give yourself space and clear your head. Any longer, and you might have kissed him for real. And even though you and Yoongi were barely a thing and planned on ending things, you hadn’t ended them yet. Even though Seokjin had you wanting to cross all kinds of boundaries—you weren’t about to cross that line.
“I um,” You stuttered, “I really can’t convince you to take it back?”
Jin considered your question. “I’ll tell you what,” he said. “I’ll take the money back in exchange for a date.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. Was he really asking you on a date? “How is that appealing to me? That’s just swapping one problem for another.”
“It would be the best day of your life.”
“Now you’re just being ridiculous.”
“I’m not hearing a no.”
You sighed. “I don’t want to give you the wrong impression. I’m seeing someone. And even if I wasn’t—”
“Are you exclusive?”
“Well, no—”
“—Then I have a chance?” Said Seokjin, taking a step closer to you. He smiled again, and this time, his eyes crinkled at the corners, and you felt the warmth of his gaze flush all over you.
“I, um—”
Seeing you stutter, Seokjin’s smile brightened. “I do have a chance.”
Stupid, damn feelings.
“You have no chances,” you said, barely recovering from the brilliant attack on your heart. “Because I don’t date clients, remember?” You let words settle between you, their weight grounding you back to reality.
“And now you’ve also popped up at my day job?”
“A charming coincidence, I promise,” said Seokjin, placing a hand over his heart.
“Hmm. Well, I guess I’ll keep your money after all.” Even if he was the most handsome man you’d ever met, you were an adult. Your better judgment kept you from crossing that line.
Seokjin smirked. “Good.”
Good? You narrowed your eyes at him. He looked a little too pleased with your decision. “Did you only propose that because you knew, I’d say no and keep the money?”
“No,” he said, leaning toward entrancing you again with a close-up view of his superior good looks. “I hoped you’d say yes. But I’ll take the consolation prize.”
“Besides, I’m rich,” laughed Seokjin. “It’s not like I need more money.”
And just like that, the moment of infatuation passed. Seokjin was back to being a rich asshole. Perfect. You could work with that.
You backed away from him, heading for your car. “Goodnight, Seokjin.”
“Goodnight, (Y/n)”
It’s not until you’re sitting in your car, catching your reflection in the rearview mirror, that you realize you’ve got a stupid grin on your face.
Immediately, you stopped, catching yourself. It felt nice to be admired and flirted with, but what was your problem? Why were you smiling about some random stranger when you had a—
The bright ping of your phone went, and you reached inside your purse to check your texts.
[9:06pm] Yoongi: Missed you at Paradise tonight? Can I stop by later?
Speak of the devil…Of course, Yoongi would contact you now.
You didn’t owe him any loyalty, but that didn’t mean you felt comfortable talking to other guys. But still, why?
Yoongi wasn’t your boyfriend. So why were you giving him the boyfriend treatment?
“Are you exclusive?”
“Well, no—”
“—Then I have a chance?”
You shook your head, clearing your thoughts. Why were you thinking about Seokjin’s words earlier? He wasn’t even a dating option, but he did have a point.
For all intents and purposes, you were practically single, so why were you acting coupled up again?
You look at the three little dots bubbling up from your lack of response. How long were you going to keep doing this? Repeating the same cycle over again?
No. No more.
You fired off a text back: I can’t, busy, then threw your phone on the seat and started up your engine before you could change your mind
The cycle ends right now. You wouldn’t spend the rest of your twenties going back and forth with some guy who only ever wanted to sleep with you.
You’re young. You’re hot. You didn’t have to sit around and wait for some guy to want you. You could get a date with anyone you wanted, hell, even a millionaire!
For a minute, even though tonight was an inconvenience, you’re grateful you ran into Seokjin just for that reminder.
The next time you see Yoongi, you know what you need to do.
You’re ending things up with him. For good.

Rules, kinks and favorite idols/groups
I've had this blog for a while but finally I'm not busy enough to keep it active. So there are the rules:
Idols must be 18 or older (obviously).
Sex must always be consensual.
Besides rape, I also avoid stuff like scat, vomit and necrophilia.
I don't write G!P smuts. I allow for the use of strap-ons but not actual penises for idols that have vaginas.
I keep note on every request and will select a few if the story fits. All smuts will feature at least one female idol and a male reader.
My favorite fantasies are: anal (my #1), breeding, creampie, dirty talk dom/sub, facefucking, morning sex, poolside sex, public sex, rough sex, spanking and titfucking. As you can see, I'm on the rougher side of the spectrum and my smuts veer into the porny side but can do romantic stuff if asked to.
Now on to the idols.
I have idols spawning from 2nd to 4th generation as my biases, my all time top 10 is, ordered by their groups: AOA Seolhyun, Blackpink Jennie, Dreamcatcher Yoohyeon, Girl's Day Yura, f(x) Krystal, Ive Wonyoung, Iz*one/Soloist Eunbi, SNSD Yuri, Twice Jihyo and Twice Momo (and RV Seulgi but I don't write smuts about her for finding her too cute to lewd).

Forbidden (A SKZ Family Secret) Part 5 of 8
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Read Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 2.5 // Part 3 // Part 4 // Part 5 // Part 6 // Part 7 // Part 8
Fem reader // Han Jisung // female Aunty Lina (Lino) // Hyuna (Hyunjin) // Suengmin
You are the nanny/housekeeper for Han and Hyuna (Hyunjin), helping take care of their two sons and keeping daily life in order. But what happens when Han and his Sister-in-law Lina take an extra liking to you, and you are caught up in a secret that you never could have imagined?
Chapter Summary: Your pregnancy is moving along. You spend some time with just Lina, and Hyuna paints your portrait.
Writer's Note: In this chapter the MC/reader's pregnancy spans from around 24 weeks to 32 weeks, if you were wanting to follow the progress. We're going to have some F/F smut, Lina thinks she has a pregnancy kink, and Hyuna shares another secret.
I've also been writing this late at night when I'm meant to be asleep and so I know when I re-read this later there will be parts I wish I wrote better. But I need to get this story out of my head.
Word Count: 2.4k (part 5) there will be more parts to come.
A few things to note before you jump in (as this might not be your cup of tea): * Hyunjin (aka Hyuna) and Lino (aka Lina) are female characters in this story (and one of them will be involved in sex). * There is cheating on partners. * There is manipulation and abuse of authority. * Female reader is an adult (in case you were worried)
Warnings: NSFW // Female Lee Minho // Female Hyunjin // cheating on partners // emotional turmoil // unprotected sex // pet names // sub dom undertones // pregnancy // mentions of adoption // breeding kink // squirting // female x female sex // oral sex//
-------------------------------
You had been watching how Han interacted with his children since the day you arrived there. There was something really attractive about a man caring for his offspring. But once you were pregnant you tried not to pay as much attention to it. It hurt to see him being a dad to them, knowing it wouldn’t be the same with your baby.
But now you couldn’t stop watching him. The way he’d scoop up Chan and play zooming him around the room, to the way he’d lecture Binnie about homework and tidying his room. He made such a good father. You couldn’t believe you were caught up in another lie. Oh why did Hyuna have to tell you he wasn’t their actual father? Now you were keeping secrets from Han as well. But it wasn’t your secret to tell.
Maybe it didn’t really matter? Han loved the boys and they loved him. He was their Dad even if he wasn’t biologically their father. Seungmin, if he really wanted to, could’ve claimed them, surely? “It’s killing him.” Hyuna’s words echoed in your mind. You told yourself to Just focus on yourself and the pregnancy and your last few months pretending to be a family with Han and Lina.
You were beginning to feel your baby move more and more inside of you as she grew bigger and stronger. It was a strange feeling, but it made you smile. You had a little human being wriggling in there, and you tried to store the feeling in your memory bank for when you looked back on this for years to come.
As far as Han and Lina knew, Hyuna and Seungmin were under the impression you got pregnant to a guy you went on a few dates with, which was what you were originally going to tell them anyway. Another fucking lie to add to the the growing pile.
Hyuna gave you your first pregnancy photo shoot, setting you up by a window to get the perfect natural light. You bought a gorgeous robe that draped over your growing curves just nicely, and blow dried your hair in soft curls that cascaded around your shoulders. She wanted to create a nice photo album for you that you could look back on and remember this special, intimate time that you and your baby shared. You were starting to see Hyuna as more of a Mother figure than a boss. You were grateful for her support and generosity, and you felt cared for when you were with her.
Your energy returned as you headed into the second half of your second trimester. Your nannying and housekeeping duties were less draining as long as you had an afternoon nap when Channie did. Your hormones were going wild and you had never felt so horny in your entire life. It was lucky you had two lovers to be honest, because you would have worn them out by now. Han and Lina loved it. They worshiped your beautiful, changing pregnant body, making love or fucking you depending on what mood you were in.
“Lina?” You purred. You had her pinned to her bed. Suengmin was at a work function that evening and you and Lina took the opportunity to spend some time together, just the two of you.
“What is it kitten? She grinned looking up at your desperate face.
“I’ve got cravings?” you pouted.
“Oh, I can make you something. What do you-”
You put a finger to her mouth to shush her and shook your head. “You’ve already got what I’m craving…right...” You traced your finger down her chest pausing at her breast. “here.”
Lina blushed. “Oh. Is that right, kitten?” she said as you took your clothes off. You loved being naked lately, and you knew Lina loved you naked too. Her eyes would light up as they drank you in.
You grinned. “I wanna suck Aunty Lina’s nipples.” You whispered tugging her shirt up. She sat up, letting your pull her top off and nestled back onto the bed, a glimmer of excitement in her eyes.
“No bra.” You clicked your tongue. “You’ve got the sexiest tits, you know that right?” Your hungry eyes were firmly on Lina’s pretty pink nipple. “This little kitten is dying to taste you.” You lowered your mouth to her breast, licking the nipple softly, just teasing. Then you took it fully into your mouth, slowly, gently sucking until you felt it grow hard against your tongue. You lifted off with a pop and looked up at Lina through your lashes, then sank back down onto her nipple. Your other hand found her other breast, rubbing your thumb over the nipple as you squeezed the supple flesh. Lina moaned softly. Her breath became heavier, and so did yours. Lina’s tits made you so fucking wet you tried to grind against her leg. As Lina responded to your touch, you responded in turn by increasing the intensity. You sucked a little harder, and grazed your teeth over her erect nipple. Your other hand squeezed the flesh of her breast more aggressively.
“Oh! Kitten!” her back arched up off the bed, pressing against you harder. Your mouth moved to her other breast now, giving that nipple the attention it deserved.
Lina was writhing underneath you. “Touch me. Please. Fill me up with your fingers.” She plead. You leaned up and found her lips, kissing her messily. She moaned into your mouth and you swore you almost came on the spot. Without breaking the kiss, you shimmied her shorts and panties off, and slid your hand down her body and over her stomach, continuing until your fingers found her pussy. God she felt heavenly. She was so pretty and so perfect when she was aroused.
“Oh dear! Lina!” You broke the kiss shocked. She looked at you wide eyed. “You’re fucking soaking.” You whispered as you slid your finger through her lips and brushed it over her clit.
“For you kitten.” She panted, rocking her hips to try and get more friction.
“So needy.” You smirked. “You wanna come all over my hand?” you purred. Lina moaned and nodded frantically. “Wanna come.” She echoed.
You locked eyes with hers and pushed two fingers into her soaking cunt. You groaned at how warm and tight she felt. “Fuck I wish I had a cock right now.” You sighed. “I envy Han getting to fill you up and stretch you out far more than my fingers ever could.”
“I love your fingers, kitten. You know how to find that sweet spot in record time.” She moaned.
“Oh you mean this spot?” you smirked digging into the spongy wall with your fingers.
“Oh… fuck…” she choked. “God you’re going to make me come too fast.” But it only spurred you on. You relentlessly pushed against the spot, using your other hand to rub her clitoris. She begged you to stop, but she didn’t use her safe word so you knew she really wanted you to keep going. You could tell her climax was building rapidly by the sheen of sweat on her body and her flushed chest and cheeks, and they way her breath became shallow. You pushed in a third finger and she moaned at being stretched just that little bit more.
“Put in four… please! Stretch me.” She sobbed. Who were you to deny such a desperate plea. You pulled out your fingers only to return with all four digits, again aiming right into her g-spot. She was flailing around, squeezing her eyes closed, rocking her hips, arching off the bed. You didn’t ease up. Her cunt was soaking your fingers, her creamy arousal gathering at your knuckles. You wished you had more hands so you could fondle her breasts at the same time or caress her body. But you weren’t about to change what you were doing, she was almost there, about to burst, and you couldn’t wait to watch it happen.
“I’m…fuck…I’m…fuuuckkk!” she threw her head back and screamed as she reached her climax, her cunt gripping your hand so fucking tight you thought your fingers would lose circulation. At the same time a clear, warm liquid coated your hand and ran down onto the bed. Lina had squirted and it was the hottest thing you’d ever seen. You quickly licked up as much of her juices as you could while you worked her through what seemed to be a very long, very intense orgasm.
Eventually, Lina’s body stilled as she came down and she fell silent save for some panting while she caught her breath. You crawled up to lay on your side next to her and kissed her again.
She looked at you with her freshly fucked pink cheeks and a stupid-ass grin. “I wanna take care of you now, kitten. I bet your soaking wet. Let me check.” She propped up some pillows and laid you back against them so you were comfortable.
She took her time kissing, sucking and caressing your breasts. “Fuck these are getting so big and full… grrr.” She squeezed a breast making it wobble underneath her grip. “Your pregnant body turns me on so much. Do your think that means I have a pregnancy kink?” she asked. You shrugged. “I don’t know, maybe?” you laughed “But whatever it is I like it.”
She continued touching your body and kissing your swollen belly, and eventually knelt between your legs. She spread your thighs wide open with her hands and bit her lip as she gazed directly at your pussy. She brought her thumb to your lips and ran it up an down your folds. “I love how puffy and pink your lips are. So inviting. I just want to worship you kitten.” She made you feel like an actual goddess.
Lina repositioned herself so that she could bury her face against your pussy. She wrapped her arms around your thighs to keep you still as she slowly and delicately used her lips, her mouth, her tongue to make love to you. If felt like she was going for hours, taking her time, dragging out your pleasure. She’d dip her tongue into you while she brought a thumb to your clit, then she’d swap, plunging her fingers deep inside you while her tongue worked on your sensitive bundle of nerves. “Just like that, Lina. Yes.” You whimpered. You closed your eyes and leaned your head back, indulging in this beautiful, erotic moment. Your orgasm built slowly, just as Lina had intended, and when you came it was euphoric. Your entire body tingled with electricity and a warmth spread through your veins as you floated away. You felt content. You felt happy. You felt like you were where you belonged.
----------------------------------------
You entered Hyuna’s bedroom wearing just your robe and a simple pair of black briefs. She’d already set up her easel and had a little table set up with all her paints and brushes. It was the day you were getting your portrait painted. You were thirty two weeks pregnant now and your belly was beautiful and full, but not so full you that you looked uncomfortable. It was the perfect time for Hyuna to paint you and she’d been counting down the weeks for this moment. She’d made space for you to stand by her bedroom window, having moved her low armchair, the one Han fucked you for the first time on, out of the way.
“Petal, before we start I just wanted to show you something. Come here. Sit.” She invited you to sit by her on the bed, holding a thick sketchbook in her hands.
“I’ve never shown anyone this before. Not even Seungmin.” You sat down beside her, nervous of what she was about to show you. With shaky hands Hyuna opened the book to show a sketch of a young couple sitting on a park bench, holding ice-creams and laughing. Hyuna and Seungmin. Hyuna turned the pages to reveal more images of the couple. Young and in love. Doing all the things couples do, like picnics and dancing, smiling and holding each other close.
“This is you and Seungmin? You drew these?” you gasped.
Hyuna nodded. “We used to pretend we were seeing friends, but really we’d be spending time together.” She traced her finger over the page as she recalled the memory. “This is when we talked about getting married.” She pointed to a sketch of the pair sitting under the stars, Suengmin reclined back and Hyuna tucked up against his side in an embrace. It was heartbreaking seeing Hyuna’s memories etched into the paper.
She flicked through several more pages before stopping at a page that showed a heavily pregnant Hyuna looking down at her stomach, smiling. Two sets of hands were resting on her belly. One pair were her own, the other were Seungmin’s. He was standing behind her, arms wrapped around middle, his chin resting on her shoulder. He had the happiest expression you had ever seen.
As Hyuna turned the pages, the sketches of Hyuna and Seungmin tuned into images of Hyuna, Seungmin and Changbin. Seungmin holding a baby. Seungmin carrying a toddler. Seungmin holding a boy up in the their smiling and laughing. It kept going and until one boy turned into two.
You looked at Hyuna who’s eyes were filled with sorrow. This book represented the life she should have had. It was full of memories that never happened, or if they did happen, were secret, never to be spoken about or acknowledged.
“Why…why are you showing me this?” you asked perplexed.
“Because, petal, I’ve always craved to share this with someone. It hurts more as time passes,” She placed her hand on yours and squeezed it. “But, I also needed you to know what happens when you don’t live your truth. The sadness, the regret, the resentment, the lies. Like I said before, it eats at you.”
“You would have made a perfect couple.” You said looking down at the page.
Hyuna scoffed. “Yeah, would have, but didn’t get to. Not in real life.” She wiped the tears from her eyes and sighed, shaking away the sadness. “Now. Let’s start your portrait.” She smiled. “I can’t wait to paint this for you.”
While you stood posed for Hyuna, you reflected on what she’d just shown you. Every single person in this family was hurting. No one was living the life they were meant to. Everyone was keeping their truth hidden. No one was happy. Now you were caught up in this big mess too, even adding to it. Should you just continue to let everything pan out on the trajectory it was already on, keeping up the façade, or was Lina trying to remind you that you you could choose differently?

Writer's Note: The Hyuna/Seungmin backstory is really heartbreaking. I know I didn't do the scene justice, not by a long shot, but I hope you got the idea I was trying to convey? Bittersweet nostalgia, really hits my INFP heart.
Coming up, there are two more smut scenes I am itching to write and share before shit hits the fan and a baby comes.
See you soon my loves.

ALINA
We didn’t plan to become king and queen so quickly. Kyungsoo also didn’t want to make a spectacle of our Coronation, and neither did I. This time around, there was no Crown Selection Ceremony. There was no audience. It was just us, King Bonhwa, Queen Hyunae, the Doh Royal family and Lisette. The throne room felt dark, overcast filled the skies. A certain ominous force could be felt hanging in the air, it suffocated the happiness of the occasion… if there was any to begin with. Kyungsoo and I were dressed in traditional clothing and the garments were the only brightness in the room.
Hyunae was not pleased, her denunciation was almost comical. Boram was sobbing and acting like her world was ending. As Kyungsoo and I made our vow to honor the Crown, to serve the Seoul People and to honor the Doh Dynasty, we were crowned. There was no joy or honor, it felt like a duty we had to fulfill and go on about our lives. Each moment felt like still moments in frames, a mundane event. The only highlight was the way Kyungsoo held onto my hand the entire time.
I became Queen Alina the First of Seoul, Kyungsoo became King Kyungsoo the First of Seoul. It didn’t feel any different, but everyone around us made it seem like we suddenly became porcelain dolls. The Crown informed the media and the public supported us for not having a showy celebration or coronation. Its terrifying being at the mercy of a kingdom’s people. You never know what they’ll feel or say. At least we have their approval… For now. That motivated me to be much better than I ever was before.
Lisette and I share a bottle of wine in the common room chambers, laughing at the ridiculousness that was this entire mess.
“I’m literally getting drunk with the Queen of Seoul right now.” Lisette giggles with an annoyingly gaudy wine goblet in her hand.
“And I’m getting drunk with… My lady-in-waiting right now.” I smirk. I watch Lisette’s eyes practically bulge out of her head. She points at herself with a dropped jaw.
“I’m… I’m… Your lady-in-waiting?!”
“Kyungsoo and I agreed it would be best, and you’d do well in the position. And I wouldn’t want anyone else to do the job! And now… If you want to make things official with Chanyeol, you absolutely can.” I hug Lisette and she squeezes me tight.
“I won’t let you down, Alina.” Lisette grins, “this is the best night of my life!”
We finish our wine and she gets a text from Chanyeol. Her eyebrows go up and she grins at me.
“Go, go ahead. Go see your Duke Charming!” I push her toward the door, “And don’t forget a detail! Not one!”
“Thank you, Amiga!” Lisette prances out of the chambers and I laugh to myself. Minutes later, Kyungsoo stumbles into our chambers with his tie loose and red cheeks.
“Fun night?” I laugh, throwing my arms around Kyungsoo. He growls softly and grips my hips. His rum coated lips press onto mine, his soft laughs reverberating in my mouth.
“It’s much better now with you, darling.” Kyungsoo presses his lips on mine a few times, then we stumble to the couch. I fall on top of him and we just burst into laughter. “Oh, I love you. I love you, I love you, Alina. My Queen.”
“Amorcito, you’re drunk.” I laugh.
“Maybe, but I know I love you. I love you so much. You know that?” Kyungsoo grins.
“I love you too. Now come on… Let’s go to bed, we’re both drunk.” I manage to reply, practically dragging Kyungsoo to bed. It didn’t occur to me that we should change our clothes, it didn’t matter either. We stumble in bed and just laugh at this entire situation.
“Drunk on our first night on the job,” Kyungsoo mutters, resting his head on my stomach. I sloppily play with his already messed up hair, “you’re so cute when you’re drunk.”
“And you’re a very affectionate drunk.” I muse, watching Kyungsoo’s eyes start to close.
“Only with you, my darling love. Now that I’m King,” Kyungsoo hiccups, “I’ll… Give you everything you’ve ever wanted. Baby deer as pets? Yours. Empanadas every day? Done. Babies? We’ll make as many as you want. As many…”
For the first time, Kyungsoo fell asleep in my embrace. I smile and keep playing with his hair, my eyes feeling heavy. This moment is the first that we’re sharing alone as King and Queen. I cherish every single second of it. My mind wanders off to living a life with Kyungsoo in the countryside, oddly enough baby deer running around and my arms full with our first child. A child… My chest warms at the thought of babies that look like us, with Kyungsoo’s big brown eyes, his heart shaped lips, my nose, my cheeks, a beautiful mixture of our skin tones… I smile to myself and close my eyes, convinced even more that we’re going to get through this. We have to, there’s no other choice. If only this moment lasted longer, because it was the last peaceful memory him and I would share.
Tumblr media
Within 2 months, 16 days, 14 hours and 28 minutes, everything I thought I understood about the world was turned upside down.
My home kingdom was bombed.
That bomb fell on the Valencia palace.
My parents were thankfully in Mariposa at the time, but they could’ve died. My brothers were off fighting somewhere for the war and were at least alive. Daniel is targeting the people I love now. Ana was forced into hiding with her daughter, Freja, and all contact with her was lost. King Seth, her husband, allowed her and I to speak over a military phone but not knowing where my sister and niece were devastated me.
Now that I am queen, I have much more protection than I ever have before. Kyungsoo insisted on us leaving the palace and going to the Safe Haven palace on an island near the coast. One bomb dropped and I got hidden away, as if it would make a difference. Daniel isn’t going to stop until everything I know and love is in ashes. He’s stooping as low as attacking my family, and Maria is standing idly by with her head turned. All to keep the damn monster she insisted on marrying. My head aches despite the calm that surrounds us in the Safe Haven Palace. I’m cornered in a place where I’m supposed to feel safe and it’s all so wrong. Lisette couldn’t come with me due to the relief work that we started, and parting ways with her was another hard part of all of this. Duke Chanyeol promised to keep her safe, but I couldn’t help but worry about her. I huddle myself in the corner of mine and Kyungsoo’s bed, sobbing.
“Darling… Come here.” I hear his voice and feel his arms wrap around me. Suddenly, colors seemed bright again. Left wasn’t right anymore. Up was down, and inside wasn’t out. My thoughts came to a halt, to a welcomed silence. Kyungsoo holds me close and kisses my cheek, attempting to soothe me from the anxiety that took root in my chest. I dissolve in his hold, needing so desperately for all of this to be over.
“This is all happening because of me.” I mumble, wiping my eyes.
“Alina, no it’s…”
“Don’t try to say that it’s not! Because it is. Daniel is obsessed... He’s…”
“Alina! Enough. I refuse to hear anything like that from your mouth ever again. This isn’t because of you. Daniel needed a motive and he’s pinning it on you to make you feel exactly how you are right now. I’m not gonna stand for it. My wife isn’t going to be made to feel less than she is. You, darling, are a strong, beautiful, courageous woman. You’ve given me a lesson or two in perseverance. Don’t let that bastard do this to you anymore,” Kyungsoo’s growl gradually winds down into a soft mumble, “Focus on me. It seems I need to erase this bastard from your mind twice as hard as I did to your body.”
Kyungsoo’s lips attach to my neck and gently bring me out of the stupor I found myself in. My mind starts to turn to mush and I realize what he’s doing. I turn in his arms and push his shoulder. “Why’d you push me, darling?”
“You always have to make it so… Sensual.” I semi-grovel. I hate and love this about Kyungsoo, he knows how exactly how to distract me and that’s the problem. He distracts me. Kyungsoo slips my tank top strap down and plants more kisses along my shoulder and up my neck.
“As an order from your King, you need to relax and turn your mind off for once, Mi Reina.” Kyungsoo hisses his last two words in Valencian, and I’m putty in his hands. He smirks to himself, laying me back on the bed. “Good girl, now let me take your mind off of the world for awhile. This, darling, is the only way I know that can get you to forget.”
I can’t stand how this works every single time.

KYUNGSOO The next morning, I open my eyes and feel Alina’s head on my chest. I smirk to myself and stroke her hair that’s sprawled across her back. Having her on my chest gives me all the comfort I need. These kinds of moments have become few and far in between, so every single second that her lips fall open, her weight shifts above me, soft words fall out of her mouth… I commit it all to memory. Right now, the only thing that I was afraid of was waking her up with my phone chiming loudly at my side. I yawn and reach over to silence the ringer when my eyes fall onto the emergency alerts from both General Junmyeon and Commander Jongin.
EMERGENCY – IMMEDIATE THREAT TO HER MAJESTY, QUEEN ALINA
“No, no, no…” I mutter anxiously as I place Alina’s head on a pillow. I pace quickly to my office and do my best to stay calm, which proved to be impossible. I know what this means. I frantically send a conference video call to my military advisors, needing more than just an emergency alert: I needed the names of whoever threatened my love. “Generals, Commanders, I need names. Now.”
“Your Majesty, I’m afraid that I cannot divulge that over a video call. We have many matters to discuss, we are requesting your presence at the palace.” Commander Jongin replies with his not-so-usual dark tone. Now I know that something much more sinister than I imagined is coming for my wife.
“I didn’t ask, Commander. You need to give me every detail and you need to give it to me right now.” I demand, grit tinging my voice.
“Yes, your Majesty.” General Junmyeon intervenes, nervously bowing his head. “A message was sent to the palace. We have gone over the contents extensively, and it was from an Azteco militia group threatening the Queen’s life and safety. We sent you a copy of the letter. Your Majesty, this conversation is better had behind closed doors, this is not a secure connection.”
I receive the copy of the letter through my secure correspondence email, I scan the letter quickly and immediately feel the blood boil in my veins. I didn’t have to read all of it to get the general idea.
She is being watched
           We know her every move
We will kill Queen Alina
We will force you to watch as we…
“Alina can’t come back with me, General. Like hell she’s setting foot in Seoul. She’s staying here until I know for sure that she’s safe. What is your suggestion?”
“We will send additional military to you. Your Majesty, we need your command in person. We understand the need to keep Queen Alina safe, but this is war. Azteco is inching closer and closer to the capital. We’ve held off on commands for long enough, we need you here at your post, Your Majesty. We need our King.” General Junmyeon replies, unease in his voice.
“I clearly don’t have a choice.” I mull over the intel and grip the sides of my desk. I read the letter dozens and dozens of times, my fury building every single time I read the words from these cowards. As Alina safely slept in the room next door to me, my mind was in a thousand different places. I wasn’t going to leave until reinforcements arrive. I only wanted to give Alina happiness, but instead I’ve given her nothing but stress and a world she doesn’t belong in. I rush to the bedroom and slowly open the door, calming myself before I wake her up to tell her the news.
“Darling… Wake up...” I rub Alina’s back and she slowly lifts her head. “Good morning... Did you sleep well?”
“Yes. Mmm… You look serious. Why are you serious?” Alina sleepily comments while sitting up.
“I have to go to back to the palace. There has been a compromise to national security and I’m needed back in Seoul.” I say, Alina rubs her eyes and the sleepy pout that scrunches her face slowly fades away.
“Are we in danger? When do we leave?” She inquires, only breaking my heart more.
I promised I wouldn’t lie to Alina, I had to be honest with her. I offer my embrace to Alina, she snuggles into my arms for warmth and comfort. “Love… Don’t panic but there were threats sent to the palace. Commander Minseok intercepted it and sent it to me. It’s not safe for you to return to the palace just yet. I have to go to build strategies to keep you protected, to win this war. I need you to stay here where I know you’re safe.”
“Kyungsoo, no. Please don’t leave me here by myself!” Alina’s eyes widen, a whine in her voice. “Please, baby, don’t…”
“Darling, I’m sorry. I have to. You won’t be alone. Lieutenants Jongdae and Sehun will be keeping you safe, and I’ll keep my eyes on you from afar.” I caress her face. Alina cries in my arms, the weight of guilt sitting on my shoulders. Leaving her was killing me but it had to be done. “Please, don’t cry. I’m doing this for you. I promise that you will be safe.”
“Is it… Him? Did he discover that I’m not at the palace? Are my parents safe? What about my brothers? My sister and niece? Why would you leave me if I was in danger?!” Alina’s sobs were uncontrollable. I knew she was terrified and that she wanted to not leave my side. I also knew I couldn’t risk her life and bring her back to Seoul. I was helpless. I was out of the control I fought so hard to create around her, for her.
“Baby… Baby please… Don’t cry. Please. No one will hurt you. I would burn this entire world to the ground if it meant you were safe. There is nothing I won’t do for you, and no wretched man will ever harm you again. I won’t allow it.”
Alina looks into my eyes, glimmers of different clashing emotions running through her gaze. I was silently begging her to trust me, I needed her to only do that for me. Blind trust was not something she had capacity for anymore. Alina bitterly nods and clings to me, her head buried in my chest. “How can you protect me if you’re away? How…”
In a fit of frustration, I direct her attention to my eyes. I cradle her head in my hands at a desperate attempt to soothe her and wipe her tears away. Alina tries to lower her head, but I refuse to let her do it. Alina’s breath catches and I slide my hands into her hair. I pushed her closer to me as my hands slide to her waist. I held her and stroked her back, monitoring her sobs as they dissolve into nothing but quickened breaths, “Nothing is going to happen. I won’t let it happen. You’re safer here than anywhere else. Believe me.”
“I know… I’m so sorry. I’m scared. You are the reason I can sleep at night… Something I haven’t been able to do until the first night we slept in the same room. I fear how long the nights will be without you here. I… I know I have to trust you. I need to for...” Alina hesitates softly, “For us.”
“Yes, darling. For us. This Kingdom is ours. It’s you and me. I need you by my side and I’ll fight my way back to you. I promise.” I whisper. My thoughts relax as relief sweeps through me. Alina’s emotions are scattered everywhere, I can feel them in my embrace. I knew that she felt safe just like this, but she wanted more. It was in her rising pulse and dilated pupils. It was in the way she pulled my arms tighter around her. I can’t break and bring her with me, I have to be strong. “Wait for me, darling. Please, I will return to your arms as fast as I can.”
“You need to. You don’t have a choice. I’ll be here waiting for you.” Alina says, desperately trying to exhale her anxiety out of her chest. Her slow breaths are inviting, tickling my ear.
“Good girl.” I praise softly onto her skin. I give Alina one last kiss, trying to assure her that everything is going to be okay… Even if I didn’t know for sure. She needed to know that now she had something she never did before: a man who loved her as she was, a protector, and an army that was under her command. My chest ached because we had to part after not being away from each other since the day we met. I didn’t think that leaving her would be so difficult. My military phone is ringing nonstop, reminding me that this is far from over.

ALINA
“Darling, Lieutenants Jongdae and Sehun are here.” Kyungsoo calls me to me.
“I’m coming!” I shout and put my notepad down, scribbling notes for relief work routes to send to Lisette.  Jongdae and Sehun stand at attention when I enter the room, “Hello, gentleman.”
“Your Majesty.” They chorus.
“At ease.” I say calmly, still getting used to giving these kinds of commands.
“Guard her like your life depends on it, because it does.” Kyungsoo warns. “We need to keep the Queen safe. There is no room for negotiation.”
“Yes, Your Majesty. We have additional guards coming to the island to assist us. The Queen is safe with us.” Lieutenant Sehun salutes Kyungsoo, a terrified look on his face.
“Very well, man your stations. I will be leaving back to Seoul. Report anything and everything suspicious to me immediately. You are dismissed.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” The lieutenants chorus. They bow once again to me and leave the room. I turn to my husband and shake my head.
“You don’t have to scare them. We were just on a first name basis.” I softly mention.
“And now we’re in treacherous waters and there’s no room for informalities,” Kyungsoo snaps, then looks up at me, “I have to leave you here and I need to know that you have the absolute best. If anything happens to you…”
“Amorcito, nothing is going to happen to me. I’m safe, I promise.” I smile as I try to convince Kyungsoo that I believe my own words, and I know he doesn’t believe me. I have to do everything I can to not break down. He’s leaving and I have no idea when he’ll be back. Tears threaten to fall down my cheeks, but Kyungsoo shakes his head.
“Don’t cry, please,” he begs softly with his fingers caressing my cheeks, “leaving you is hard enough.”
“I’m going to miss you so much.”
“I’ll be missing you too, darling. I’ll be back before you know it.” Kyungsoo pecks my lips. “Now, go rest. I made sure there was plenty of books and movies for you. Pick one we can watch when I come back.”
“Wait… Just be sure you’re healthy and strong… For the both of us. I… Want to try for a baby when this chaos is over.” I blurt, knowing I just pleaded my husband for a baby. I need to keep my feelings in check. I wait for his reaction, and I’m pleasantly surprised. He smiles, giving me a deeper kiss than before.
“Really? You want to have a baby?” He asks, grinning widely. I nod and embrace him, his arms lifting me from the ground. For a moment, time stood still. For a moment, we were in an idealistic fantasy where all of the negative things that happened to us never existed and we’re just a regular royal couple planning to have our first child. The rose-tinted glasses claim my vision as my feet reach the ground again.
“I do… I’m ready to, Amorcito. So please… Come back to me in one piece… Alive.” I plead gently.
“I will, darling. I promise. I love you…” With one more lingering kiss, we let go of each other and Kyungsoo was escorted out of the palace.
All my brain could scream at me was that this is the last time I will ever see him again and there was no changing my mind. Hours stretched and stretched as I watched his plane leave. Before I knew it, the sun dropped and the moon hung in the sky. Despite Lieutenant Jongdae being posted in front of my door and Lieutenant Sehun patrolling with the squads that were sent from Seoul, I still felt unsafe. Kyungsoo’s absence was so obvious, and it killed me. His side of the bed was cold, my texts went unanswered as I figured that they would. The more I fought my sleep, the more tired I got. I had to sleep in Kyungsoo’s shirt just to make it through the night, but I didn’t get restful sleep.
The next morning, I got dressed and went to the kitchen for breakfast. Lieutenant Jongdae greeted me with a formal bow, and a concerned look on his face.
“Your Majesty, ah, sorry, I mean Alina…” He says softly, almost nervously.
“Yes, Jongdae?” I ask, sitting at the table.
“I heard you crying last night, are you missing His Majesty?”
I nod slowly, “It’s hard to be away from him.”
Lieutenant Jongdae nods, giving me a soft smile. As soon as I he does, my heart aches for my brother. He reminds me so much of Ignacio, another person I hope won’t be a casualty of this war. They are both kind, calm and quick to assure me that things will be fine. I know Jongdae can’t be fully certain of these things, but it’s the thought that counts.
“If anyone can survive this war, it’ll be His Majesty. I know you’re worried about your brothers, they’re just as strong. Try not to stress, Alina. Lieutenant Sehun and myself secured the perimeter, we’re here if you need us. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, okay?”
“Thank you, Jongdae,” I nod, “Please be cautious while on patrol.”
“Yes, Alina.” Lieutenant Jongdae bows his head. I disappear into my bedroom, locking the door. No matter how safe I felt, mistrust was still deep-seated in me and more than likely would never go away. Every day I waited around for an answer to my messages, to finally get the I’m coming home message I so desperately needed to see.
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. Kyungsoo called a few times when he could, but there was no room for mistakes or slipping up where my location was. If it meant I’d have to only check his location from the Lieutenants to make sure he’s safe, then I did it.
I sat soaking in the bathtub, reading one of the many books Kyungsoo provided for me. I felt the same emptiness at his missing presence, something I’ll never get used to. The anticipation of his return or his phone call was killing me. My muscles relax at the thought of his touch, his lips… I couldn’t handle the ache I felt deep within anymore. I had been soaking in the warm water for a few hours and got out of the tub, getting dressed in one of Kyungsoo’s shirts, my thick knitted sweater and a pair of leggings. I scurry to bed and get under the covers, searching for the warmth that was missing. I cuddle close to his side of the bed, his scent soothing my anxieties.
I grab my phone and scroll through my photos, smiling at each picture of him. These weren’t press photos, they were intimate moments. Kyungsoo cooking in the kitchen. Us in bed together. His failed attempt of a timed selfie with me as we sat by a fire together, laughing as he fell onto me. Us locked in a kiss… Kyungsoo was something so unexpectedly wonderful. Our beginnings were rough, but they led me to this moment. My mind again wandered off to thoughts of Kyungsoo’s lips, one of my favorite things about him. I felt desires growing deep within to feel his lips on my body, for his arms to keep me warm. My thoughts had steadily gone darker the more time Kyungsoo spent away from her, and I needed to feel him close to me again.
Footsteps echo through the hall, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I freeze in bed, searching for a weapon. The steps clacked against the floor toward the bedroom door, causing me to jump out of bed and rush to the closet where I knew Kyungsoo kept the sword I practiced with. I stealthily grab it and heard the doorknob turn. I hold the handle of the sword and squeeze it as tight as I can, a figure appearing in the doorway. A familiar, cold laugh fills my chest.
“What are you gonna do with that, pretty girl?” Daniel.
“How did you…” before I could finish my sentence, Daniel’s military runs into the room and grabs my arms, “Let me go! JONGDAE! SEHUN!”
“No need to yell, pretty girl. They can’t hear you.” Daniel chuckles. My blood runs cold, there’s no way he killed them… No way… “No, I didn’t kill them. They’re too worthless to kill. They’re much better suited as my prisoners.”
“Daniel, don’t. DON’T.” I growl, struggling against the hands that grab me. Daniel chuckles and grabs my chin with his hand.
“Don’t be afraid of me, my pretty girl. I’m taking you home.”
“NO!” I yell, “You can’t!”
A cloth falls over my mouth, and then I fell into the black behind my eyes.
The last thing in my mind was Kyungsoo, and his smile.
How I’ll never see it again.
