Update My Thyroid Journey Update Part 2
Hello my lovelies numero dos Nummer zwei. I have a few blogs that have been split into two parts. I also have a three part post. The reason I write these types of serial posts, is not to stretch out the subject or topic to garner more followers and readers of my blog posts. It’s because I have so much to say it sometimes warrants a second part or a third post in order not to bore the…

Sometimes I really wish that Theranos hadn’t been a total scam, which is probably part of why it was a successful scam for so long. Like it’s such a pain in the ass to negotiate with your doctor and your insurance to get tests, it’s such a tempting idea to think “what if I could just do this at Walgreens on my lunch break and have it be easy”
#like lately I've been having some fatigue#and I'm really curious about what my current TPO antibody count is#because my hashimoto's is currently causing what's called subclinical hypothyroidism#and there is some research to indicate that a lot of the symptoms I experience may be more due to the immune reaction#than the thyroid hormone imbalance#to be clear I already have great doctors because some doctors will refuse to treat people with my levels even w/ the level of symptoms I had#but man I'd love it if I could just easily get the tests done without fighting blue cross blue shield or going downtown#just be able to get the data for myself#like I also get the reasons why it might not be the best idea to give everyone the data without like a doctor to interpret things#but I would love a chart with the TPO antibody levels in my body cross-referenced with how much weight I was able to lift that week#as the closest-to-objective measure of fatigue

Common Symptoms and Treatment Options for Thyroid Disorders
Introduction:
The thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions. When it malfunctions, it can lead to thyroid disorders. In this blog post, we will explore the common symptoms of thyroid disorders and discuss the available treatment options to manage this condition effectively.
1. Understanding Thyroid Disorders:
The thyroid gland produces hormones that control metabolism, energy levels, and growth. Thyroid disorders can manifest in two main forms: hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Hypothyroidism occurs when the gland does not produce enough hormones, while hyperthyroidism results from excessive hormone production.
2. Common Symptoms of Thyroid Disorders:
Fatigue and weakness
Weight changes
Mood swings and irritability
Hair loss
Temperature sensitivity
3. Diagnosis and Testing:
Accurate diagnosis of thyroid disorders involves comprehensive medical testing, including blood tests to measure hormone levels and thyroid imaging. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and interpretation of the test results.
4. Treatment Options for Thyroid Disorders:
Treatment for thyroid disorders depends on the specific condition and its severity. Common treatment options include:
Medication: Synthetic hormones to replace or regulate thyroid function.
Radioactive iodine therapy: Used to reduce the activity of an overactive thyroid.
Surgery: Removal of part or all of the thyroid gland in certain cases.
5. Lifestyle Modifications for Managing Thyroid Disorders:
In addition to medical interventions, certain lifestyle modifications can help manage thyroid disorders effectively. These include:
Balanced diet: Focus on foods rich in iodine, selenium, and zinc.
Regular exercise: Promotes overall well-being and helps regulate metabolism.
Stress management: Stress reduction techniques such as meditation and yoga.
Sufficient sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.
Conclusion:
Thyroid disorders can significantly impact an individual's quality of life, but with early recognition and appropriate treatment, they can be effectively managed. By understanding the symptoms and exploring the available treatment options, individuals can take proactive steps toward maintaining their thyroid health. Remember to consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice and guidance.

I think I might be a little sick in the head because I was thinking about that person who likes getting surgeries bc it's fun and I was like oooh that's so me. I love having medical things done to me. It's so cool and interesting. I love it when they stick monitors on me or use ultrasounds to look in my body. When I have a weird medical procedure/test coming up I tell people about it like it's an exciting activity. I look forward to it. If I didn't have vasovagal syncope from needles I'd be one of those people who watches when the nurse inserts the IV and I'd be all interested talking about it with them. That's not normal is it
#i have a doctor's appointment coming up to investigate why i've been suddenly having debilitating vertigo and brain shocks#my two hypotheses are hypothyroidism and pernicious anemia. i'm gonna get blood tests. and i'm all excited about it#medical stuff is fascinating and my own body is a conglomerate of weird fucking medical problems so i get to experience it through that#if it isn't either hypothyroidism or anemia though my enthusiasm is going to drop and i'm going to start getting scared though#because as much as i find it interesting my fear of having neurological problems like epilepsy or a brain tumor is greater#the symptoms came on suddenly one day last week and it felt like i was having weird seizures over and over

oh you know what i found out? most people diagnosed with hashimoto’s thyroiditis are between the ages of 40 and 60. as with most things i am precocious 💫
#thyroid issues run in my family so this isn't a BIG big surprise but like. daaaaamnnnn#also all my other thyroid-related lab results were normal. i was referred to an endocrinologist and i might not get in for a couple months#but that's ok it's not really URGENT as much as it is a needs-to-be-monitored thing#i could develop hypothyroidism buuuuuuut i don't want to. not really feeling like that#tales from diana#my symptoms have mostly been fatigue (REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD FATIGUE) and muscle pain#no weight gain or goiter or skin or hair changes that seem to also occur frequently#but i guess i should keep an eye out for that#i'm kind of at ease to have this diagnosis though as well as the other results that i had#you know you've been chronically ill for a long time when your lab results come back abnormal and youre like THANK YOU!!!!!#bc the worst is being told they didn't find anything wrong and you have to keep living like you don't even know what to do

This ABSOLUTELY works.
I have used this for many years. Definitely b do it.
#I don’t know if this sort of thing would help with the current situation but it’s worth bringing up#The takeaway:#Since Doctors are prone to brushing off self diagnoses maybe bring up that a friend said to get your thyroid-#- checked out because those symptoms sound just like the ones that run in their family.#Bringing in a third party (the friend) makes some doctors feel more accountable. More eyes judging them & looking out for you.#I can be the friend in question so you aren’t lying. The French side of my family had thyroid issues (hypothyroid specifically). Here:#‘I recommend getting your thyroid looked at- those symptoms sound an awful lot like what my relatives who had thyroid disease experienced.’#Which -given you’ve mentioned how fatigued you get in the past- is a distinct possibility#Probably not terrible to get your heart checked out too. Try to bring this up with the cardiologist since blood tests are used-#- for diagnosing thyroid disease & they’ll probably do one on you#Good luck bud
