I’ve been rewatching all the buzzfeed unsolved supernatural and true crime and I have a borderline migraine I’m trying to get rid of rn so to entertain myself my brain decided to talk about one of my ocs like Ryan and Shane discussing some unsolved crime 🫡
#it’s fun honestly#really makes me realize how fucking BATSHIT Ezra’s life was for like 4-6 straight months#Ryan: says something about Ezra#Shane: okay wait what??#Ryan: oh just wait it’s a whole thing we’ll get into it#(rinse and repeat like 80 times lmao)#Ezra: gets invited to sing the national anthem at a memorial service.#has to escape bc a coup starts as he’s leaving?!#he gets nearly sliced in half as he’s trying to make his way to rescue the prince!#and gets rescued by the former royal physician??#they spend 6 weeks in a tiny little hidey hole trying to stay alive#any sound could get them killed#*insert Ryan and Shane joking about imagining getting killed cuz of a fart*#woohoo coup is over! My hot Drakengard take of the day is that after playing it for like 110 hours and counting im very much convinced that ppl who still complain about the gameplay being a "slog" just aren't playing the game correctly. you can hate me for this but you will not change my mind
#gu6chan's musings#drakengard#this isn't to say that it's not FLAWED (looking at you arbalesters...)#but i will say: three allies; seven types of weapons; SIXTY-FIVE WEAPONS IN TOTAL; ALL WITH DIFFERENT WEIGHTS; MAGIC; AFFECTS; ETC#now going back to flaws i will say its perfectly normal and not ridiculously hard to just beat the game without allies/using Caim's Sword#HOWEVER#i see way too many people complaining about this and that enemy being 'frustrating' when it rlly boils down to:#1. use a quicker weapon; or one with a longer range#2. THERE ARE BLOCK AND DODGE BUTTONS?????#the last part in particular x100000000 when you learn to actually block or dodge instead of letting yourself fall on your ass like a silly#little fool and then complain about bad game design the game itself becomes infinitely more playable#ill even argue that drakengards biggest flaw isn't even it's REPETITION (as a matter of fact; that's a strength) so much as the fact it#doesn't encourage/push players to explore and experiment with different weapons and features so much#anyways my advice: long-ranged (preferably fast for the latter!!) weapons for enemies like mages and arbalesters#lightweight weapons for quicker enemies like goblins so you can actually land a hit on them#and for god's sake; the dodge/block button exists for your benefit. use it#ALSO hitting enemies while jumping causes them to fall over and allows you a chance to crack a bit more at them if you have a weaker weapon#works REALLY good with quicker ones too!!!!!#oh AND there's a variation of the dash attack where when you speed up you can do a jump attack for extra points of damage PLUS get them to#fall over like mentioned prior. you can do it with your allies too and its a lot of fun#SPEAKING of allies don't forget them!! ever!!!! (heheh) ESPECIALLY not during later chapters they are there to help!!! let them!!!#uhhhh that should be it... maybe ill make a separate post with these tips but Drakengard is a fun game!! you just have to resist hypnosis!!#(and bad press)

And while I was in the MSE file I noticed good old Ovicras the incubate commander, and that got me thinking about noncreature commanders again. Turns out there are exactly two noncreature, noneplaneswalker cards that can be your commander, and one of them is silver border. That left the vehicle commander, and after the Fractal debacle, I wasn't hopeful, but

It's... beautiful. Just one unique ability, perfectly encouraging you to make a deck stuffed with vehicles. And crew 8! What a bold requirement! There's no need for me to make a vehicle commander, they knocked it out of the park with this masterpiece...
But wow is there a lot of untapped design space for noncreature commanders!

#custom cards#i totally could make a vehicle commander of my own#i just don't have an idea and didn't feel obligated to come up with one#like they already did it justice#giving it an ability that's useful even while Shorikai isn't crewed is super cool and inspired the menace ability on The General's Blade#originally it only gave menace to equipped creatures but “equipped creatures you control have menace” sounds kinda weird on an equipment#the difference between “equipped creatures” and “equipped creature” is small yet important#so i just made it use modified to avoid confusion#also made the buffing ability work with auras because why not#also with Sacred Guardian Umbra i ran into an all too common problem with stacking attachments: redundant abilities#originally it was going to give vigilance and trample#but then i realized that makes your other auras that give vigilance and/or trample useless#i run into that concern often when making equipment/aura themes#so the more wordy benefits are a way of avoiding using keywords so that your other auras' keywords aren't made redundant#also it had the totem armor thing before i even realized i could make it an umbra#still not really satisfied with the names but that's normal#also i don't really know why i keep compleating my cat#i swear it's not a hypnokink thing because the hypnosis i like is completely different from this#and i actually find compleation horrifying but i don't even think twice about subjecting my kitty to it#i'd suspect phyrexia of subtly manipulating me but i've made plenty of cards of elian fighting phyrexia too#also Elian Sleeping Kitten just says No to removal lol#in addition to being adorable imagery. just a little kitty sleeping soundly in an incubator pod :)#ka asks

Here's a recent piece from the guardian on wellness communities and Qanon, so don't take my word for it.
"Wellness" is not just alternative medicine, it is essentially a theory of the body which posits if something makes you feel better, you are better in some meaningful way. I would argue it one of the most commonly held nonreligious magical beliefs in the modern world.
Wellness as a concept has its genesis in the 1950s with "workplace wellness" programs, a sort of budget alternative to offering employee healthcare benefits. This was an era soaked in itinerant business preachers offering classes on things like "hypnosis at a management level" and "yoga to improve leadership abilities". I am exaggerating for effect, but not by much.
The capitalist medical system regularly abandons people. We've all heard stories of profit driven pharmaceudical companies holding the ill hostage for extreme markup on life-saving medicines. People have real, legitimate, reasons to mistrust medical professionals.
Let's say you have chronic pain, and everything your doctor offers you is either ineffective, expensive, or addictive. You are desperate for literally any release, so you start looking into other solutions. You will find an OCEAN of snake-oil salesmen willing to sell you "the secrets doctors don't want you to know."
What is frustrating, is that pain is actually partially psychological. Some wellness techniques may have an actual, medical, benefit on some patients. The worst thing a conspiracy theorist can have is a point. So now you actually do kinda feel better, and you have a sense of loyalty to the grifter selling you 300$ Sumerian Cock Oil Pills. These people are the core of the wellness industry. They are the examples that everyone else points to and says "Well it worked for them!"
Reactionary thought blooms in environments like this. If the medical industry can't be trusted, what else can't be trusted? At any given time, you are two clicks away from "vaccines cause autism." Three clicks away from "Cavemen were 15 feet tall because they only ate meat." And four clicks away from "The medical industry is controlled by The Jews to drain our wallets and keep us sick." Echoes of Nazi attitudes towards German-Jewish doctors are a common backbeat.
Wellness itself is relatively harmless, (compared to the things it is adjacent to) but it acts as a sort of idealogical airport that exposes the curious to a deluge of potentially radicalizing communities. The longer you spend in communities like this, the higher the chance you'll come across something that meshes perfectly with your own biases.
