So who's this "Twilight Phantom"?

I play a strict game with myself when it comes to my main blorbo: 98% of what the FLPC does, in the exact order i do it, is canon.

This also applies to small things like their possessions/wardrobe, for example - they pretty much only have the in-game items I own in the account to wear. Finding out reasons to explain why they keep the things they own is part of the fun. (this game made them out to be a weirdo, naturally)

It's been lots of fun to see this clean slate (and i do mean clean - i knew nothing about the setting/lore, or who they were as a person, so. well. this guy didn't either) get shaped by RNG, the narrative, And my mechanical wiki-fueled optimization decisions.

another extra rule i made for myself as a treat was making them a sponge to compensate for their inherent emptiness. this means they incorporate something from each important NPC they get involved with. they are a singer because of Clara and her twin. they only own a lab & got interested in studying & research bc of Dr. Vaughan. they got a taste for exercise bc they accompanied Hephaesta's workouts for so long. and so on and so forth.

The first thing you notice about them is the cowl lazily draped around their head and shoulders, swaying behind their back like a cape in the colours of sunrise-- or, perhaps most familiarly, the velvety twilight that the newest star every so often provides to London.  The second thing is the deep scars covering one side of their face, and the third thing would probably be the heavy eyebags under their sharp, dark eyes.

A relatively freshly-minted Silverer, H. Reisz spends more time in Parabola than London nowadays. Not that they had been in London for too long anyway, and it's not like anyone knows where they were before that either. The surface, yes, but it's a big world out there, right? They don't actually remember seeing the sun, or the sky, but H cannot deny the soft colours of twilight and sunrise have a special place in their heart. They recognise it without the memory of experiencing it, just like they recognised love in the depths of a certain Labyrinth. Hmm, two Labyrinths, actually. There was that one heiress too... and the Orphanage was inside one hell of a maze too... if they had a coin every time they found themself inside labyrinths, they'd... Uh, where were we? Well, anyway, being a new face, they had nothing to be known for so they simply gave out their surname instead. Or well, what they assumed to be their surname. "H. REISZ" were the letters sewn-in on a diminute corner of the tattered black veil that wrapped their head back when they woke up for the "first" time. They were surrounded by near-empty bottles of dried mouldy honey, absinthe, and who knows what else. Ah, the decadence... they couldn't even remember what honey could do at the time but they could recognise the stench of self-destruction right away, haha.  Alas, if things were so bad they got to that point-- maybe this explains why moving on was so easy. Maybe they had somehow lobotomized themself on purpose. Who knows? They sure don't. It was only now, a year or so after waking up, that an epithet has started to stick around-- specifically by their actions as a Silverer and the services they provided. From nightmare-slaying to fishing out vestigial memories (the irony of an amnesiac doing this is not lost on them) to guiding and safeguarding lost dreamers, their glimmering signature cowl and the way it flowed rather phantasmagorically in Parabola started to leave an impression. To many dreamers, seeing a hint of pastel twilight colors signaled safety. It signaled someone you could trust to get inside your head. :)

WARNING FOR SPOILERS FOR THE GHOST MOVIE “RITE HERE RITE NOW”

Okay so, the thing at the beginning with saltarian was super cool. was kinda a jumpscare to see his face on the big big screen but it helped me stop disassociating and realize “holy shit im seeing the ghost movie”. Btw!! shoutout to my brother for taking me to go see it since my super religious parents would never take me. anyways uhm it was fucking awesome!! seeing all the ghouls in high detail kinda sparked my ghost hyperfixation again (it never left, just got very, VERY, weak.) i got to see my silly phantom and aurora and all the silly ghouls again and i was stimming very much. the theater was almost empty!! it was shocking how little people there was. I went with my brother and a mutual friend and we were the only ones in our row with small groups spread around us. Since this is my rant and i dont have any rules im gonna rip the bandaid off. i am so glad copia didnt and will HOPEFULLY keep being a reoccurring character as lead of the clergy. im a little upset about the cliffhanger of the new papa but i get it. ALSO,,, COSMO TALKED?? “Arent we gonna do a encore?” EXCUSE ME?? i was so so shocked. The misleading of death and new beginnings was also amazingly portrayed. i am going to miss the character of sister imperator but she had a good run. The show of Her, Papa copia (Father imperator🙏🙏), and Papa nihil being a family and all of then talking warmed my heart. totally didnt cry at that. WHAT DID MAKE ME CRY WAS IF YOU HAVE GHOST!! god the way they did that song and that whole scene tbh was just amazing. i cried a bit and was so touched by that song. The ghoulettes were amazing and i hope this isnt the last we see of them, but i get it if this is it. The singing ghoulete was amazing, she had a truely beautiful voice and make me get the chills a few times. The ones behind the instruments were just as good if not better. they all did great but i applaud the ones playing for being able to focus and play the entire time. The new song(god talk about quick changes) Was AMAZING!! i was up when it dropped and it has already been added to all my playlists. The credits with the song and the meaning of the song touch my heart in a way few songs are able to. I saw people on twitter complaining (as people on twitter do..) about certain ghouls not having much screentime, and i will admit that some had more than others, but i dont think its enough to be upset about. at the end of the day it relies on tobias, the camera team, and the ghouls boundaries. The dancers for Dance macabre and twenties was super cool!! kinda spooked me and make me uncomfy in the beginning but i think they did great. what did make me a little uncomfy was the video for year zero.. I am not a very religious person and do not have a label on what i consider myself, but the video was a bit of a jumpscare and was a little scary for me,. although im sure other liked it. I cannot wait for the album to be out and i will be putting on ghost more since the tism go brrr. expect ghost themed media to be posted by me more!! i think thats all but if theres anything else ill make a part 2 when im able to think again.

Welcome back to reaper talks bitches, i just finished my first playthrough of Shadows Over Loathing and have already started on my second and

I fucking love this game. I mean its made by the people who made of my favorite games ever, West of Loathing so yeah im gonna enjoy it.

But this, this is new, this limits me in sooo many different ways but also opens up the game in ways i couldnt have imagined

[Alot of spoiler filled ramblings of a mad man slightly broken by a weird time/dimension loop that are only vaguely understandable under the cut]

Okay first off, not picking you class right at the very very start is great weirdly enough, atleast for me.

It gave me time to see the world through the basic unfiltered lens of someone who has an idea whats to come cuz of me playing the previous game but also no clue as the game hasnt given me any story yet.

Literally, it starts off with you having a copy of LOOK magazine on your face. You also get to really choose your look or well hair situation mainly, you're a stick person hair and accessories are all you got and its early game soooo

But anygays, it doesnt give you story till thr bus ride and even then you dont know your class or if there will even be classes!

I choose pigskinner or whatever my head is running at a million miles per hour rn cuz this hyperfixation is really new and free so double the speed of thoughts

And yeah i could have tried something new especially since 2 out of my 3 wol saves were that game's pigskinner class (cow puncher(?)) But come on, i like my familiar class also i suck as magic/effect heavy builds outside of my spamming of stuff like bleed or on fire

But anygays, the uncursing stuff is super fun tho pretty confusing. Thankfully you cant mess them up to my knowledge, they really test you puzzle skilss and you remembering that most things in this game are interactable (very very important)

Also omg i love any chance to piss a narrator and there are some great ones, the main ones that i can remember rn is the one about you working at all these different places and even being employee of the month despite you either being super young or not born at that time. And the one about you digging wet globs of hair out of sinks, mainly at frat houses. Gross i know, but i fucking dug through every single spittoon in wol, nothing can stop me anymore

The narrator def regrets following this dumbass (me) around but they cant leave so HA

But back to the uncursing, the sickle curse was actually super scary. Like that scarecrow was after ME, not the person i was currently in the body of, no he was after ME, my character also nick come on buddy you dont take loans/favors from The Shadows, thats like rule #265, your ass deserved a lawnmowing.

Also wtf i got sent the lawnmower i made with a note that said "see you in 66 years" or something like that. Like HELLO???? WHICH BITCH GOT MY ADDRESS AND WHO WANTS A PIECE OF ME AND MY LAWNMOWER

Seriously the sickle curse was hands down the scariest part of a game ive played in years and ive somewhat play resident evil 7

Also gods i love the to do list, don't get me wrong i loved asking my companions for reminders but this is super convenient and go for when my companion cant you know, accompany me somewhere

Plus being able see everything together and whats a main quest vs a side quest helps. And making my own notes in game helps since i still havent gotta a notebook for my gaming notes yet

Also the whole thing with the mob was great, 10/10 i love being chaotic and getting paid the big bucks for it. Seriously its worth it and theres even some more pacifist options in those quest lines to. Im very much a nice person to my core despite my nature darkness and chaos, so being able to handle things nicely or well with limited blood shed is nice. Also helps with you, like me, tend to avoid battles you dont gotta fight. Its also a nice puzzle sometimes cuz i cant just shove like 9 different thing down my throat and kick ass. Its one potion and one food at a time.

The combat is definitely different but more in a "its harder to be able to wipe everyone out in seconds" then a "heres a whole new system to learn good luck"

In wol its stupidly easy atleast for me to become a lesser god and wipe out half the map basically even during early game. Tho thats mainly cuz of my past experience and cuz i was raised really good and weirdly so my skills work with this-

But in sol the fights are actually pretty tough, i found myself really rationing my items out even in late game but also heavily relying on them and effects

Which btw go fucking on items and stuff that cause effects like bleed and on fire, trust me its actually kinda necessary

Also the last(?) fight (and the optional golem fight) are like stupidly hard even with all tbr help (finale(?)) While the golem is apparently a push over yet also god number two idk im working on it, apparently they didnt play test it and honestly it kinda shows (neutral)

ALSP WTF IS THAT BITCH AT THE FUNAL LIKE HOKY HELL DO NOT BE AFIARD MY ASS THAT A BIBLICALLY ACCURATE ANGEL WITHOUT WINGS RIGHT THERE AND ITS ABOUT TO SEND ME TO HELL PERSONALLY

Also i fucking lost, i can go back but i decided to learn from my mistakes by starting fresh instead of fixing them after they've already been made

I had a dnd hyperfixation recently and was trying to learn the mechanic and rules of the game. Then, my brain just has to mix 2 of my current into one and forced myself into making the Rise boys playing DnD.

As team bonding and a way to working out team dynamic with Leo as a leader, they played DnD as a simulator (not the most realistic but it's way more fun than going out and get beaten around and find out). With Splinter as the DM, the boys began to make their characters.

Note: I'm not gonna think too much about their races so i just make them mutant turtles.

Note 2: I'm very very new to dnd so it's gonna be scuffed and not very accurate but i live for improv and chaos and bending the rules. Feel free to correct me tho

Donnie's a bard. Like, the man likes dances and music, he's a theater kid so of course a bard is gonna be his class. His instrument is a flute-bo, perfect for impromtu musical session and bonks. The inspiration for his flute-bo is that one scene in Ninjago movie where Master Wu played "Hard knock life" on his staff.

Raph is a Paladin. I know, I know, he's more of a barbarian or fighter but please look how majestic he is in an armor!!! Also paladins have strong sense of justice and that's so Raph. You can pry Paladin Raph out of my cold dead hands :D

Leo is a Rogue. I was tempted to give him bard but I want Donnie to be bard more than him so Rogue it is lol. But hey, sneaky sneaky rogue suits him, although his heels think otherwise. "I dont care if it's impractical! I look fabulous in it!"- said Leo, trying to convince everyone else...

Sorcerer Mikey, who would have thought... I really want to make him a barbarian but considering they are trying to make a character truest to themselves most, I made him into a sorcerer.

Not much else to say since I just wrote down words for this AU in its infant stage. After I fleshed out the design and the plot again, maybe I'll do something with it. If anyone has any ideas/thoughts about his AU, you can scream at me and I'll answer.

ill spare the everything especially because id need to brush up a little (latest hyperfix has been alphonse mucha and his life and art) BUT

in the case of anything dracula related ill have to give a really heavy disclaimer that netflixvanias worldbuilding leaves a LOT of holes. i have seen it in full although i like to pretend it only had two seasons because of opinions i have in this drawer over here but putting that aside

dracula was a prince and not just a prince but the ruling prince of wallachia (and at some points transylvania) (different countries at this point) (dont get me started on the cultural gaps between the romanian principalities and intersection of religious coexistence in the medieval balkans we'll be here all day) so like the fact he....clearly isnt? in cv is really confusing to me because netflixvania leaves

um. a lot. up in the air. have you guys ever noticed how they never mention the government or governing powers thats weird right like at this time the principalities were kabedon'd between 3 different empires (hungary, poland, ottomans) and that played a massive part in the decisions of vlad dracul and vlad dracula! the (well known) impaling wasnt just a fun little bit of extra cruelty for him it had to do with very specifically inflicting insane psychic damage on invading ottoman armies because vlad dracula knew he couldnt fight off an army that size . they do mention the old houses (see the bar fight) which makes me think they may be referring to boyars (princes under the voivode (dracula)) but heres the thing if the belmonts are meant to have originated in french then what the hell are they doing over here? fighting monsters perhaps but france was majority catholic and their ties with the hapsburgs wouldve made it much more likely they would have been established in transylvania if at all in that region and in fact a lot of netflixvania is written as if their setting was transylvania and not wallachia (catholicism was not the dominant religion of the populace and wouldve been largely confined to saxon cultural centers but because transylvania WAS under the control of the hungarians it wouldve had much more catholic presence) and also the first witch hunt in the romanian principalities thats been recorded was in transylvania in 1550, about 100 years after lisa first meets dracula a la netflixvania

the complete non-presence of the ottomans is wild to me also like aside from isaacs backstory because. again they played a huge role and also THEY HAD SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MOST INSANE DRAMA IMAGINABLEEEEEEEEE vlad dracula iii tepes had a younger brother named radu and both of them had been held captive in the ottoman court in their youths (long story) but while vlad came away with a deep hatred for the ottomans radu ENDED UP BEING THE GAY LOVER OF SULTAN MEHMED II AND WAS EVEN PLACED IN DRACULAS PLACE AS PRINCE OF WALLACHIA WHEN THE OTTOMANS WERE BEEFING WITH HIM CAN YOU IMAGINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and dont even get me started on their dad because the drama. oh my god im gonna cry thinking about varna 1444 . anyways

if i had to wager a guess they were worried about including the ottomans because of the heavily charged religious tensions of the times (crusades) (again: converging point for the islamic empire catholic western europe and orthodox eastern europe) but i think in that case its really lame they decided to just go with a really tropey and lets face it pretty boring "wuh oh catholic church bad!!!" narrative because i think theres a LOT you could do with the way religion was used to retroactively justify atrocities in this region and time period as a whole and the chicken-and-egg relationship it creates especially if you do want to integrate something like potential witch hunting because im not against historical inaccuracy like this is a narrative about vampires im here for rule of cool i just think they really missed a good opportunity especially because that narrative drops off after s1 and i dont think you can say the monks in s3 count because thats not institutional and its almost portrayed as some niche folk cult (and i have opinions on cults in media but thats another thing) and dont really explore what they could have or what those implications are

especially with sypha being from an ethnoreligious group very clearly intended to call to the romani people who WERE very prevalent in the region but were enslaved almost in entirety and i think theyre playing with fire on that one because they also give her the only non-british accent out of the main cast (i think we get a few russian vampires later in and isaacs there) ti emphasize her foreign-ness (her family are nomads from the iberian penninsula apparently which is why they speak english with spanish inflection but she wouldve lived in the wallachia region most of her life) whereas trevor and alucard and dracula and carmilla are given british accents to indicate their backgrounds in high society like so lets examine the immediate association of british posh accents and class to the point we're forgoing the integrity of a setting and implying the accents more closely associated with the region are foreign and brutish (see: the russian vampires we meet) but also their unwillingness to put actual romani people in the series that wouldve dealt with what sypha deals with because they know theyre pulling from tropes involving their culture,

i kinda forgot where i was going with this. the point is theres a lot of untapped potential and while applying direct facts of draculas life will be difficult because of how the world is set up unless you want to diverge from that but also if you need help with maps and trade routes and cultural dress and general daily life and local political structures i can help
