i think lucifer valentine is in a weird place bc i feel like so much of his art directly involved him hurting women for it and hes still alive so its not like with kubrick where u can enjoy the work without giving any attention to a still profiting living pos. still i dont think its worth judging people for taking inspo from him as long as ur not giving money to him

The surreal nightmare quality his work, especially his editing, is a big inspiration for me. I don't watch his films anymore (and even when i did they were pirated other than The Angela Chapters which I gave away) and I don't like him as a person but hes also not really a person hes more of a very constructed character who gives the edgiest most gross answers in interviews that he can for the shock value. He didn't actually have a blind autistic incest sister who killed herself. 99% of what he says in interviews is just shock nonsense to sell his movies. Those movies were a big part of my teens though and inspired me to play around with non-linear narratives.
