彡✧.* important update, please read!
Tumblr media
— hey, all.
as you may know, hurricane debby has made landfall. unfortunately, we live in the state that this storm is targeting. although it appears as though we MAY be just outside of the worst of the storm, we're still going to make this post to say the following:
we MAY lose power. we're praying that we won't; but, if we do, you'll know why we may be a little bit inactive.
it may inflame our arthritis (yes, we have arthritis. it's called rheumatoid arthritis, and it sucks HUGE ass), so it could impact our ability to write/type.
storms are scary for us. since this is the first hurricane we're going to experience w/ this arthritis, we're very stressed & unsure of how our body is going to react to said storm.
sorry for so many updates recently, but we felt as though this was critical to post considering the hurricane quite literally just made landfall.
and also, we saw the new footage of TLOU s2 & OMFG the hype is so real. expect more TLOU stuff.
last thing: squid game s2 is also coming out soon, so we may get back into k-dramas and therefore may post some content for our favorites. we hope you can look forward to the many new content to come!

It's so crazy to see how far Splatoon has come, like I've been with it since the first game...Although I was a bit late (never played the callie vs marie fest) but still, like I KNEW this game would be nostalgic for me down the line, and I was right!! Like I still remember in middle school when S2 was announced and the hype I had for it...crazy. Now I'm in college and I've seen the beginnings and end (?) of S3 before my eyes. Rainbow Anarchy was pretty much my anthem for the first semester of college, everything was so new and different...Damn..
This squid kid game really is amazing :')

(Also, Deep Cut deserve their own "thank you" illustration like this one!!)

There’s a scenario where Simone and JB do a joint photoshoot if Netflix pushes them and/or the show at the Emmys. However, I don’t think Bridgerton or any of its actors will be a big priority when they have Squid Game, Ozark and Stranger Things. JB has the most critical acclaim but drama actor is stacked this year. Drama actress is a little more open, and Netflix only has Laura Linney in Ozark as their other lead actress candidate, so I guess them campaigning Simone is slightly more possible. Bridgerton was helped a lot last year because it was a weak/non competitive season and S1 was a phenomenon. S2 numbers outdid it but it’s still not as relevant this time. I don’t think Netflix will bother to campaign it much when they’ve got other more established and Emmy friendly shows. So…I don’t think we’ll get a photoshoot 😪
The lack of photoshoot was obviously a deliberate decision, not because they couldn’t find a day to do it as was the company line with the EW cover. They clearly want the show to be an ensemble that isn’t reliant on any one person after the RJP fiasco. They don’t want viewers getting too attached to a couple since this isn’t an absolute romance anymore. Of course Kate and Anthony were literally the only relevant part of S2 anyway.
(This post.)
Yeah, I don't think Bridgerton is an Emmy priority for Netflix year. And just on a practical level...the writing was just not up to the standard it needed to be in order for it to have any sort of contention, in any of the categories really. The only nom I can really see them getting is maybe a costume one? And then there's the fact that I think there's more competition this year...there isn't a covid slump, like you mentioned? So I'm really not holding my breath anymore for a Jonny and Simone only feature, because I just can't see Netflix seriously pushing Bridgerton for the Emmy categories related to them.
That excuse for them not being involved with the EW shoot was such bullshit. It's dumb, because they will have known that there wouldn't be another RJP situation because a) the contracts the cast have signed, and b) they will have known that Kate and Anthony would be back for season three BEFORE that EW shoot took place. It's just infuriating because Kate and Anthony are the main thing that people are talking about with regards to season two, and they hyped Jonny and Simone's chemistry before the season was released? And it's one of the things that people keep talking about? It's such a massive missed opportunity. I do wonder, depending on the size of their role for season three, if maybe they'll get one then?

Why some people in This fandom is so obsessed with number views? I really wonder what would happen if Bridgerton S2 doesn't reach the amount of views they are aiming, I honestly don't think any show will take Squid Game and their 111 million of the number 1 in at least other 2 years anyway
Because of economics dear Watson, it's all about economics. Views equals money. I made a post about it about a month ago if you're interested:
Squid Game was good, but then again so was The Queen's gambit. And people got over Beth Harmon eventually.
In comparison Twilight was bad, but the franchise still generates revenue to this day. Game of thrones royaly sucker punched the fans in their face as a last season gift. But guess what? The franchise still continues to generate revenue. And revenue is Netflix bottom line.
Book adaptations tend to have a longer lasting impact and sometimes it's simply because as viewers we want something to see something familiar... But innovative at the same time.
It's the reason why your favorite singers keep getting nose jobs and 'reinventing' themselves. People get bored if you don't constantly give them something new, but it must be familiar to the consumer else they won't buy it.
If Bridgerton Season 2 doesn't reach the ammount of views projected or surpass Squid Game, it won't really matter in the bottom line as long as it generates more revenue than the rest of the shows and movies released in the same time period Bridgerton Season 2 will be released. Which it will. Because it's a book adaptation. Nothing short of the next season of Shadow and Bone could pose as competition.
And about Squid Game remaining #1 in the next 2 years... 1) I'd like to be polite and say that demographically speaking the audience Bridgerton season 2 is directed towards is likely to be bigger in number. When you consider who watches Bridgerton and Who watches Squid Game. But... 2) With the influx of holiday themed movies and Christmas series hitting Netflix on December. I give the hype of Squid Game a shorter lifespan. If I were a betting woman, I'd put my money on Late December to early January.
Note that I'm not saying that Squid Game was good or bad. I'm rightfully pointing out that I haven't watched it because I'm not a target demographic for that kind of show. And watching it didn't interest me. Or my grandmother or my pregnant next door neighbor. Which IS the case with Bridgerton.
Bridgerton is a show I can sit down to watch with my female friends and relatives and use it to bond with them regardless of their age.
Different demographics, different number of views, different ammount of revenues. I explained it the post I linked up in the first paragraph.
Additionally to that what Bridgerton got from the record breaking ammount of views they had in season 1 was something called momentum. In tv 'momentum' It's something akin to the impulse an object gets after pushed by a strong force. Basically Bridgerton, like every other book adaptation before it got a monumental push into the spotlight.
But what shows do with that push after the first burst of attention is over, is what matters more. Ever heard about the phrase 'taking advantage of the momentum'? things like announcing season 2 in January, releasing the casting for anticipated characters in the middle of the year and then, when the year is almost over teasing the fans with a small scene of S2 is part of a bigger picture.
Bridgerton theoretically speaking just needs to keep the attention for the show in steady numbers. By stretching the momentum little by little, they can do that. There is no need to have record breaking numbers, at least not yet, but they do need to have constant numbers.
Which they do have, a brief look into any official Bridgerton fanpage can tell you this much.
Personally I do think that Bridgerton S2 will break their own record, call it wishful thinking but S2 has better source material to draw out from. And a higher budget.
Let's just wait and see, it will be fun.

Not to be pesimist but I doubt Bridgerton S2 will hold that much attention like S1 did, unlike S1 S2 has to compete with major popular and stronger in storytelling tv shows, S1 got lucky there was barely something to release in 2021 and even with that Squid Game got everything they did in less than 2 weeks,Peaky Blinders,Stranger Things,The Crown is coming BIG in November and everything HBO and Amazon Prime are hiding in store, this year has a lot and I don't see Bridgerton holding the hype longer
I mean.....both The Crown and Stranger Things are Netflix originals and Bridgerton still topped both in viewership?? As a matter of fact season 1 came out shortly after season 4 of The Crown (which featuring both Diana and Thatcher was pretty big) and The Queen's Gambit, also a Netflix original and one of the big hits of 2020 and still outperformed them.
The only big project coming out at the time of s02 of Bridgerton is Amazon's Peaky Blinders. Stranger Things will probably premiere during the summer, Amazon's LOTR project in September, and The Crown in November, so I don't really see how they're relevant to Bridgerton’s viewership in March. No show's hype is maintained months after it aired, there will obviously come other hit shows later during that year.
