Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Shinryu Quests with Sephiroth Part 6
The Shinryu fights (level 300; currently the hardest kind of fight in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game) in this post feature Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII as part of the team lineup.
Table of Contents
Sephiroth info
Shinryu Quests List
Gentle Fist Shinryu Quest
Conclusion
Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII
My Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (#ad) is Level 90 and Crystal Level 90. His 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, and BT are fully MLB. His Ex is at Ex+ 3/3 or Purple. His Burst weapon has been upgraded to BT+ 3/3 or Green.
Seph’s currently equipped with a Level 5/5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon (UT). His High Armor’s been upgraded to Blue. All of his Boards have been completed. He has his Bloom Stone.
He has 3 Attack 108 with Max Brave 330 Artifacts and 3 Attack 108 with One-Winged Angel Boost★★ (Raises INT BRV, MAX BRV, ATK, DEF by 5% if HP is MAX at start of last wave) Artifacts.
Sephiroth is equipped with the following A Spheres:
Edgar Roni Figaro’s (from Final Fantasy VI) Debuff Power
Increases BRV damage dealt by 10% while an enemy is debuffed
Cloud Strife’s (from Final Fantasy VII) Critical Power
Raises BRV damage dealt with critical hits by 10%
Vayne Carudas Solidor’s (from Final Fantasy XII) Broken Power
When attacking target afflicted with Break: • Increases BRV damage dealt by 10%
I talk more about this in other posts, but I’ve been using Sephiroth for Lufenia (level 200) and Lufenia+ (level 250) quests basically ever since I got his LD and BT even back when he wasn’t that good at all. I’d like to keep using him even for Shinryu quests.
Shinryu Quests List
So far, I’ve been able to use Sephiroth in the following Shinryu fights:
A Long, Long Road (Story Act 3 Chapter 8, Part 1) Shinryu Quest
Wrapped in Kindness (Intersecting Wills) Shinryu Quest
Infinite Possibilities (Story Act 3 Chapter 8, Part 2) Shinryu Quest
Six-Warrior Quests Area 1 Shinryu Quest
Comfortably Uncompromising (Intersecting Wills) Shinryu Quest
Dauntless Defender (Defender Z Raid) Shinryu Quest
World of Illusions Divine: Odin Shinryu Quest
I talk more about these fights in other posts.
Gentle Fist Shinryu Quest
This fight has 1 wave with 2 enemies, the Killing Scissors. They have an attack that lets them recover from break then deal AoE BRV + HP damage then delays all of their targets by 1 turn.
As the force gauge of the enemies increases, the brave damage they take will decrease. The amount of brave that chars can get will also keep decreasing.
Once the enemy’s force gauge reaches 100%, the Killing Scissors will break the party then deal AoE BRV + HP damage that’s guaranteed to hit.
The Killing Scissors will then enter 5 turns of force time. During their force time, the HP damage they deal will be increased.
And whenever they get a turn, they will use Hydroshot+ which deals single target BRV damage and will inflict 1 turn of a paralyze debuff if their target is broken or if they manage to break their target. Hydroshot+ will also give the Killing Scissors framed defense up and speed up buffs.
Once the Killing Scissors reach the 79% and 29% HP percentage thresholds, they will instantly set everyone’s brave to 0 and inflict everyone with 3 turns of a turn rate down debuff. This will trigger even during a char’s BT mode or inside a summon phase.
For this fight, my team was Sephiroth, Ursula from Final Fantasy IV, and Gabranth (Noah fon Ronsenburg) from Final Fantasy XII with Ifrit as my summon. My Calls were Cid Raines’s from Final Fantasy XIII, Kurasame Susaya’s from Final Fantasy Type-0, and Raijin’s from Final Fantasy VIII.
Both Ursula and Gabranth are synergy for this fight.
Have Gabranth’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, FR, and LD fully maxed out. Missing his Burst weapon.
All of his Summon Boards have been completed. He has his Bloom Stone. Bought his High Armor and Realized it to 0/3. He also has triple perfect Artifacts.
Unlocked parts of his Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me his LD Call and LD extension passive. Also unlocked his Force Enhancements up to Level 3.
Gabranth can debuff enemies and battery the party. He deals decent enough damage although he’s definitely more of a debuffer with a bit of support than a DPS.
Have Ursula’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD fully maxed out. Have her Force weapon but haven’t limit broken it at all.
All of her Summon Boards have been completed. She has her Bloom Stone. Bought her High Armor and Realized it to 0/3. She also has triple perfect Artifacts and triple RF Spheres.
Unlocked parts of her Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me her LD Call and LD extension passive. Also unlocked her Force Enhancements up to Level 3.
Ursula is a support with decent enough auras and buffs who can battery the party. She can’t heal though.
Wasn’t planning to pull for Ursula but well, things happened and now I have all of her weapons. I talk more about that in another post.
Since I just got Ursula and even spent some resources to build her a bit and since she is boosted for this fight, decided to bring her here.
Didn’t max out Ursula’s Force weapon though since that would cost me way too many Power Stones and High Power Stones, and I’m not sure I’ll be using her much at all.
Unfortunately, Sephiroth doesn’t have a Force weapon yet. Ursula’s FR isn’t gonna cut it since a Force weapon that isn’t fully maxed is really bad. So my third char for this fight needed to have a Force weapon that I could use.
Went with Gabranth because I also just recently got him and I actually bothered to max out his Force weapon. His FR actually has pretty good synergy with Sephiroth.
Gabranth’s FR has the following force time effects:
HP damage bonus +30% when party member inflicts Break
HP damage bonus +15% when party member selects attack on debuffed enemy
Sephiroth inflicts a gold-framed debuff called Cellular Erosion whenever he uses his LD. Gold-framed debuffs can never be cleansed no matter what.
One of the effects of Seph’s BT+ is that it will set the brave of all enemies to 1 for 4 turns. As long as said enemy isn’t immune to delays via break, then it’s possible to just keep on breaking and pushing their turns back until Sephi’s BT+ effect ends.
Currently, there’s a time limited mission that wants us to clear the Gentle Fist Shinryu quest to perfect with Ursula in the party and without using a friend support. So I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and have my Sephi run of this fight also be the one where I bring in Ursula and don’t use a friend support.
Still picked a friend support but I have no intentions of bringing them in. The only reason why I did this was because this char has Force Enhancements up to Level 30 and I think that actually helps a bit in making my force gauge charge faster.
It’d be faster if my chars also had full Force Enhancements but, unfortunately, Sephiroth doesn’t have this feature yet and I don’t want to spend any more resources on either Gabranth or Ursula.
So just gonna have to wait longer until my force gauge charges to the max. At least this fight didn’t seem that hard. It’s annoying though.
Was annoyed with the enemies who had the tendency to buff themselves often. And these buffs are framed so can’t just push them off. It made me wish I’d brought at least one Call that can dispel buffs.
The debuffs inflicted on my chars were annoying too but at least they weren’t that bad and they didn’t last that long.
Ursula has this mechanic or feature where, as long as she’s around, no one in the party can be broken. They’ll always retain some brave even after attacking. It’s pretty cool, not to mention useful, so no one was ever in danger of being paralyzed by the Killing Scissors.
Gabranth’s debuffs include attack down. This helped lower the damage of the enemies so they weren’t dangerous at all. The HP damage they dealt was pretty negligible but it was when that happened that I remembered that no one in my party can heal.
The HP damage may not be that bad but that was only at first. If the enemies keep dealing HP damage to my chars, then that would add up. Decided to keep going though because I also remembered that one of the effects of Raijin’s LD Call includes party-wide healing.
When my force gauge was finally at 100%, had Gabranth use his Force ability then had Sephiroth activate his BT+ finisher. Was surprised but pleased when the force time of the enemies got paused right after I used Gabranth’s FR. Nice.
Gabranth has moves that can re-break enemies so he can increase the HP damage bonus of his FR even without Sephi’s BT+ effect.
Ursula has moves that don’t deal BRV damage at all so she wasn’t able to increase the HP damage bonus all the time.
Sephiroth was able to deal a lot of damage as usual, especially while force time was active.
After my first force time ended, it was back to waiting for my force gauge to charge back to full again so I could use Gabranth’s FR again.
When my force gauge was at 82.4%, activated Sephiroth’s Burst+ mode already. By then the enemies were down to 43% and 52% HP.
Without an active force time, Sephi wasn’t able to deal that much damage to the enemies. They were really freaking tanky.
By the time Sephiroth was about to cast Heaven’s Light, his finishing Burst+ move, the Killing Scissors still have 39% and 42% HP. Seph was only able to deal 8983972 total HP damage during his BT+ phase.
A few turns later, summoned Ifrit already. On Gabranth’s turn, had him use his Force ability already since my force gauge was finally charged to 100%. This was 4 turns before the summon ended.
By the time I only had 1 turn of force time left, the HP damage bonus was at 509% and the Killing Scissors were down to 19% and 9% HP.
After my force time ended though, the fight became such a slog to get through. The health bars of the enemies were already down to the red but it still felt like they had lots of HP left.
It feels like it takes several turns before my chars can decrease the HP of the bosses.
That was my last force time though. Each char can only use their Force ability twice per fight, assuming said FR has been fully maxed.
Well, I did equip Ursula with her FR but having that didn’t really help me at all. I did use it but it only lasted for 5 turns so my chars barely benefited from it.
At least I was soon able to finish off 1 of the Killing Scissors. By turn 52, the remaining one was down to 4% HP but my time was running out (needed to end the fight by turn 60 as part of the mission requirements) and my chars were nearly out of abilities.
Ursula was the first one to completely run out of abilities. She has this buff that gives her an extra turn every so often.
Didn’t really pay much attention to what causes this but sometimes, I’d see a message on the screen that Ursula was getting an extra turn.
That was nice but she didn’t have enough skill uses for this. Admittedly, I did spam her skills and didn’t bother to use her HP Attack++ (unless it was the upgraded version from using her LD but you only get like 2 uses of that per LD) but I did the same with Gabranth and Sephiroth and they still have some abilities left.
Ursula gets back a use of her Chakra skill every time she uses her Ex and IIRC, she gets a free skill after using her LD. Those helped but they weren’t enough.
So before the fight ended, was stuck to having to use her HP Attack++, which didn’t deal much damage at all, until her Ex was charged.
It felt like it took so long before the last Killing Scissors was finally down to 1% HP. It wasn’t over yet though.
It was turn 58 and it was Ursula’s turn. Her Ex wasn’t charged yet so had no choice but to use her HP Attack++. As expected, it wasn’t enough to finish off the last boss.
Then it was Gabranth’s turn. By now he was all out of uses of his LD but he still has 5 uses of Circle of Judgment and 7 uses of Guilt left. His Ex was fully charged so had him use that.
Too bad that still wasn’t enough to end this fight already. So it’s now Sephiroth’s turn. He has 0 uses of his LD, 5 uses of Fervent Blow, and 4 uses of Octaslash left. Thankfully, Sephi’s attack was enough to end the battle already.
Unfortunately, was 1 turn too late. Got the score and all the other mission requirements except for the one that wants us to finish this fight by turn 60.
Was so freaking annoyed that the battle ended on turn 61. Argh! Was so close to perfecting this quest and being done with it. Now I have to try it again.
Brought the same team as before but this time, my Calls were Raijin’s, Beatrix’s from Final Fantasy IX, and Seymour Guado’s from Final Fantasy X. My summon was Bahamut.
Beatrix’s and Seymour’s Calls can dispel buffs. Beatrix's Calls also come with HP Regen.
Bahamut’s Blessing “reduces all enemies’ ATK by 15%; additional 50% party Break Bonus with every Break (Max 200%)”.
Not sure if bringing Bahamut as my summon really made that much of a difference but thought I’d try it anyway. If nothing else, the buff Bahamut gives when he’s summoned is pretty good. It lets the party spam their Ex abilities for like 2 or 3 turns.
It’s been a while since I did this fight so don’t remember all the exact details anymore. I do remember trying not to spam Ursula’s skills. Had her use her HP Attack++ every so often.
Also made use of Gabranth’s rebreaking abilities to delay the enemies and keep them from moving often. Having Seph’s BT+ effect active helped with this too.
Used all my debuffs right away to fill up the buff slots of the enemies and keep them from buffing themselves.
When my force gauge was finally fully charged, had Gabranth use his Force ability and had Sephiroth activate his BT+ finisher already. By then the enemies were down to 79% and 80% HP.
Was able to deal lots of damage during my force time. By the time I only had 2 turns of force time left, the Killing Scissors were down to 59% HP and it was turn 27.
Sephi had taken a bit of HP damage but it was fine since I can still heal him with Beatrix’s or Raijin’s Calls later.
Summoned Bahamut when the Killing Scissors were down to 38% HP. A few turns or so after that, activated Sephiroth’s BT+ mode already. By then the enemies were down to 31% HP and my force gauge was at 75.1%.
By the time Sephiroth was about to cast Heaven’s Light, the enemies were down to 23% and 21% HP and my force gauge was at 82.3%.
Sephi was able to deal 11354054 total HP damage during his Burst+ phase.
When my force gauge finally charged back to full again, activated Gabranth’s FR.
Soon, the Killing Scissors were down to 5% and 9% HP. It was turn 45 and Gabranth’s turn. Have 7 turns of my force time left and the HP damage bonus was currently at 261%.
Then it was Ursula’s turn. The HP damage bonus was now at 308% and the enemies were both down to 5% HP.
IIRC, had Ursula use her Chakra ability which lets her move again right afterwards. So by the time it was Sephiroth’s turn, had 4 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 372%.
The Killing Scissors were now down to 4% and 2% HP. Sephiroth’s attack was more than enough to finish off both enemies at the same time, ending the fight on turn 48.
Got the score and all the other mission requirements, which also got me the perfect. Yay for finally being over and done with this fight.
So glad that I was able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get both my Sephi clear and my Ursula clear at the same time.
Conclusion
So, what about you? Which chars did you use to complete these Shinryu quests? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.
