In a far corner, where glass met the stone side of the hydropathic, sat another man. Not a doctor, not an orderly, not even a patient by the look of him. He wore no neatly pressed wool collars or leather belt around his waist; wasn’t confined to standard issue convalescent blues or the pajama sets some wore as nurses ushered them shaking from room to room. He sat at a table alone in a Fair Isle sweater. His long legs were crossed at the thigh, one foot twirling circles in a laced Balmoral boot. The milky winter daylight caught his sandy blond hair as he leaned forward onto his elbows, staring intently at a chess board’s configuration. He drummed the fingers of one hand along the back of his other, worrying his lower lip between his teeth – unconsciously lost in thought.

Where 1881 Gin Distillery Began

The idea for The 1881 Gin Distillery came on a summer day, standing in front of the steps to our tennis pavilion on the front lawn. In the 1920s Peebles Hydro had more tennis courts than Wimbledon, and we hosted many a tournament at that time. Gin and tonic was a popular tipple, served on the lawn to the crowds that gathered to watch. Would it be possible to turn water to gin and create our own gin to honour the history of the hotel?

Peebles Hydro has never settled for received wisdom or conventional thinking. A gin distilled with local botanicals, and made with water drawn from a private spring? It’s unheard of – well, almost unheard of

We quickly discovered that the pavilion did not have enough space to house all of our gin distilling equipment. Undeterred, we decided to move production into the main hotel and so The 1881 Distillery was born – named after the date Peebles Hydropathic Hotel was first opened.

Abstract Background: Worldwide, Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L.) is a protein source. SBP-box transcription factors are crucial for plant development and regulation of stress resistance. The SBP genes in Pigeonpea were examined utilizing genomic information. Methods: Using databases, PlantTFDB and NCBI, SBP-box family genes of Pigeonpea were identified and then characterized in silico using bioinformatics tools. Results: In this study, 5 major chromosomes out of 11 and an unplaced scaffold of the Pigeonpea were found to have 24 SBP genes. Significant differences in CcaSBPs protein length, molecular weight, GRAVY value (grand average of hydropathicity), and theoretical isoelectric point were observed. It was shown by Gene Structure Display Server (GSDS) that all CcaSBP genes contain one or more introns. CcaSBP proteins and SBP proteins from other species (A. thaliana and O. sativa) were analyzed phylogenetically and grouped into seven major groups (I–VII). Through this, an effort has been made to present unique information on CcaSBP genes to study Pigeonpea growth and stress mechanisms.

In 2005, when it first opened it was the first hotel museum in the UK. The Atholl Palace is the first hotel in the world to have its building recreated in Minecraft blocks as an educational tool for a museum.

Days 15/16 of 31 for @clovercrafted's Buildtober: Ruins, Snow

For this build, I was inspired by the Hydropathic Sanatorium ruins in Oban, Scotland. I liked the orange bursts of color in the stonework, and it really made me scratch my head when coming up with a block palette.

My partner really wanted me to write a poem for this build, but I can't think of anything, so let me know if you've got a short poem in mind~
