love how we’re all being very normal over “the mass murderers gang just wanted to be actors, if they hadn’t been into a ruthless environment that was threatening to destroy them unless they were the ones stepping up doing the destroying, maybe they would have just been actors, all of them, even the most ruthless ones” 

and like, no amount of tragedy from what the traffickers are planning to do to them will ever justify the cruelty they pushed for their own amusement to the point of hurting innocent people, nothing will ever justify the Kurta massacre and the atrocities that were done here

but god just the fact of. If those kids had been left alone they would just have become actors. They wouldn’t have thoughts “anyone except us is expendable”.

And i guess it’s just, i guess, their own revenge on the world? People in the “known” world never considered the resident of Meteor City as people, they always treated them as flesh they could use and abuse. So the Troupe flipped the switch around, that in the end Meteor City’s residents are the only ones they’re going to show humanity toward (see also: how they do come back to protect it when the ants go there), and for the “known” world who had abused them, well they’ll use them and abuse them back. If the world never considered them as anything other than object to be discarded, then they will treat the world the same way, payback yaknow?

And while it comes from a place of justifiable trauma, it is indeed still hypocrite, it’s fighting fire with fire and wondering why eventually you get burnt and everything.

but to think. To think that if they had not been dehumanized they would have just. became actors? That they were just excited about becoming actors? 

That’s so tragic. That’s so so tragic holy shit.

In Hunter x Hunter 396, the troupe decided to do more voice acting and skits, with the addition of the young woman who  initially helped Chrollo and Pakunoda voice the first episode of The Clean Up Rangers. As can be seen in the chapter, Sarasa will most likely be kidnapped. While his squadmates think he went to the usual place to find new tapes to use, he actually has a different plan in mind. Sarasa went to a location by the Uga Tree where she thought she would find another

Reading the origins of the Phantom Troupe is amazing. Thank to Togashi for giving this to us despite his health issues. ❣️ I know we may never read the end of this amazing manga, but if we could just have closure for the Troupe, I'd be happy either way. 😌

yknow how we're doing the Phantom Troupe's flashbacks, and that it's the first time i really look back on hxh since i got into a3, i had this huge urge of having to fight the fact my association with "Troupe" is no longer "murder squad" but "theater troupe"

and then they just

that's. That's why they're called the Phantom Troupe. Because they were a theater troupe.

i do like the current hxh arc and everything but by god hxh does hit different when it focus on characters you’re already familiar with 

as a Kurapika stan and “the york new arc was great” stan and “i appreciate the phantom troupe as the villains to Kurapika’s story” stan, to get back to characters i’m genuinely thrilled to be able to see again? yeah it hits different

i know we’re just, getting the backstory to how a group of innocent kids who lived in the worst place in the world where people were mass trafficked became mass murderers, especially with hxh’s level of disturbing, is not going to be fun, but can i ignore the end of this chapter and focus on AU where the Phantom Troupe just became actors? is it too much to ask for? im going to cry
