Killua and Gon poem.
Fly me to the moon
But not any kind of moon the one above gotham.
Me and killua a pair
And we solve these mysteries like scooby doo by doo
I will hunt for these clues like a hunter
But beware the hunter hunts you
Cause hisoka on the loose
And he’s gonna drop a deuce
On you if you don’t comply with his woes
Because if you don’t, you will see
It starts with a g and end with m’ for degree
(1st, 2nd, 3rd degree murder)
It starts with g and ends with m Gotham city

What do you think the role of the spiders in the Succession War will ultimately end up being, or rather how would that entire sub-plot with the mafias and Hisoka relate thematically to the SW in your opinion?. I always felt it wasn't neccessary or even coherent with what we're seeing on the first deck, felt somewhat contrived, what do you think?
Hello anon!
I have talked about the topic here and here and partly here. In general, you may also find other posts about it by browsing the tag about the succession war arc and the dark continent arc. I’ll put them in this post, so it will be easier :).
In short, Kurapika’s arc so far has been strictly intertwined and foiled with Chrollo’s for thematic reasons:
At the same time, despite me saying that Kurapika is the only MC in his arcs, it should be underlined how this is not exactly true. During the arcs where Kurapika takes the stage the Spiders are always there to take it as well.
In short, if Gon and Killua usually (not always) share the screentime with each other, Kurapika does so with his main enemies.
Kurapika’s arc is an arc of revenge. However, whenever Kurapika’s quest for revenge/hunt for the eyes takes central stage, so do the Spiders. As a matter of fact the Spiders having their own plot-line is not something new. The same actually happened in YS (and to a lesser extent in GI and in the Chimera Ant Arc), where they are given their own struggle with both the mafia and the Zoldycks. Let’s highlight that Kurapika is basically uninvolved in this conflict and develops his one with the Spiders in a parallel way/later on. It is just that the YS arc was way shorter than the current one, so we could more easily see the different plot-lines coming together. That said, the two arcs still have clear parallels:
In both arcs Kurapika is acting as a bodyguard of an important woman. In both cases his true objective is to use his job as a way to take the eyes of his comrades back. While he is pursuing this objective he ends up taking on himself more responsibility than necessary. At the same time the Spiders are ready to bring chaos to the institution where Kurapika is working at.
Finally, despite Kurapika having prepared himself to do everything to get the eyes back and having adopted a very cold disposition, he meets people who challenge said disposition and who are able to remind him he is more than a cold machine whose only motivation is to honor his tribe.
In York Shin these characters were able to temporally delay Kurapika’s spiral since for them Kurapika chose to postpone his revenge and so a war where both sides would have lost things was avoided.
However, Kurapika still chooses to go on and doesn’t give up his objective. In this way he keeps marching toward sure death. We will see what he will choose at the end of this arc.
As you can see the two arcs have much in common and I guess the end of this arc will somehow mirror and foil the end of the YS city arc. As a matter of fact even if Kurapika’s major conflict this arc will probably be with Tserriednich, his main conflict throughout the story is with the Spiders. The YS arc postponed this conflict, but did not solve it, so I guess that this arc might either develop it further or solve it. What is more, Chrollo’s family is currently in danger, so he is going through what he put Kurapika through
In short, the two plot-lines will probably come together in the end. As for what will happen then, I can’t say because it is too soon. That said, I disagree with the idea that the Succession War and the mafia war are not linked. If anything they are clearly two faces of the same coin.
I explore this idea in the two metas I have linked, so I won’t repeat myself too much. That said, I will summarize my thoughts.
This arc will probably mainly follow Kurapika and the Spiders’s plot-lines. They will be the major POV characters and through them we will be involved in the main story of the arc, which is the conflict to rule Kakin. The princes are not the only actors involved. The mafia groups are clearly active players as well to the point that each organization is supposed to help a specific prince. However, Morena has other ideas and she has basically started a revolution to destroy the mafia, the boat and the princes. This too has to do with the main conflict because what Morena is doing is to completely refuse the status quo. Her attempt is chaotic and nihilistic, but she is still involved in the main conflict over what will happen to Kakin in the future. It is just that her answer invoves the destruction of how Kakin is right now. Finally, there is the Nasubi himself, who is shown doing something strange with the bodies of the dead princes. We have still to discover his plan.
As you can see, there are many actors and we probably do not even know what the main conflict will be like. We do not even know if Kurapika and the Spiders will be the main protagonist of this conflict or if the focus will slowly shift like in the CAA, where we started with Gon and Killua as MC to end with Meruem as the protagonist of the arc.
That said, we can clearly see how both Kurapika and Chrollo and the two wars are paralelling each other and how our two MC have already a foil they must face before they can reach their personal objective (finding the eyes and killing Hisoka plus stealing the treasure). On one hand Kurapika will have to eventually defeat Tserriednich. On the other hand Chrollo and the Spiders have currently chosen to fight against Morena. Both Tserriednich and Morena are two characters, who foil both Chrollo and Kurapika and I doubt it is by chance.
In short, this arc has yet to reach its climax and I think that we have barely scratched the surface of what the main conflict will be like. We are currently reading about numerous subplots, while the main conflict is being built up. We have to wait and see how everything turns out.
Thank you for the ask!

Hello anon!
I think that the story so far frames Sarahell not as an enemy to Camilla, but as extremely loyal to her. She decides to join the nen training to curse Woble, not to become a threath for Camilla. Her words about hiding hate with love are said in relation to Woble and Oito as well.
In short, she wants Camilla to become queen and she has been tasked with cursing prince Woble. Every action she takes in the chapter she appears in is for this reason alone. She questions “granny” because she wants to know if their curses will work on every prince. Granny explains the limits of their strategy (it will take time, there could be exorcists, the nen beasts might defend the princes, etc.), so Sarahell decides to take the initiative and to curse Woble. Woble is not an extremely dangerous prince compared to the older ones. However, her apartments are easily accessible because of the nen lessons. In this way, Sarahell can come close to Woble, gain the queen’s trust and hopefully touch the baby before killing herself. In this way, she will be able to launch a curse. This will give her comrades more info about what their power is able to accomplish and how it works (they have still to experiment it, after all). Finally, even if she were to fail and the curse were to be taken away by an exorcist, Camilla will still be able to gain info on the hunter association exorcist. As a matter of fact, the exorcist of the HA is the only one who could save Woble if she were to be cursed. This is because Oito has no army and not that many allies. Her main man is a hunter himself, so if his prince were cursed he could only ask the Association for help.
As you can see, Sarahell leaves no doubt about her intentions, at the moment. That said, it would be very interesting if she were to go through an arc, which would lead her to betray Camilla and to become loyal to Oito instead, for example. In that case, all the things you underlined could come in handy and gain an ironic-inverse meaning later on. Sarahell, who wanted to protect Camilla, ending up cursing her would be very interesting imo. Especially because Camilla dying for a curse might make her nen ability useless. After all, her power works by killing her killer and using their life to resuscitate Camilla. However, what will happen if the killer dies to kill the prince? In that case Camilla’s Cat’s Name won’t have a target and it might not activate. It would be a very karmic death for Camilla, especially if behind her helping the Have-Nots there are only selfish reasons (this is still to be verified of course).
Anyway, we’ll see how that ends. Thank you for your thoughts, anon!
I found your recent discussion of Camilla and the Have-Nots interesting, so I re-read ch389 and I'm now very suspicious of Sarahell. 1) She tells "granny" that she specializes in masking her hate with love. 2) She is introduced conspicuously exclaiming she'd die for Camilla. 3) She gets "granny" to tell her what it'll take to curse a prince to death, and she gets herself assigned to Nen training—both make her more dangerous. She may develop an ability that forces Camilla to stare fixedly at her.
Hi! I think you meant this for @aspoonofsugar, who recently wrote this! Tagging her so she can weigh in when time permits... Sugar-chan’s theories on Camilla and HxH are amazing!
