Thinking about the double standards with Anora winning best picture and Mikey Madison winning best actress yet when Hustlers came out years earlier with a similar premise, it received no nominations at all, no best picture, no best director and lead stars Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez received no acting nominations like best actress and best supporting actress despite being praised for their performances. It also doesn't help that Scarlett Johansson got nominated twice in the same academy awards that hustlers got snubbed for. The double standards between how viewers and critics perceive the depiction of white sex workers vs black and brown sex workers should be addressed, especially the lack of empathy towards black and brown sex workers

I know I'm five years too late to this but Hustlers (2019) is SUCH a good movie. I love how it humanizes the type of woman that the world likes to gawk at and judge, and I love how it gives them the cool hustler vibe that you don't usually connect with female characters, and I love all its commentary on capitalism and the patriarchy and people in rough spots finding a way to survive and bonding <3 It's just such a fun yet poignant movie, the two hours flew by like they were five seconds
